- 0:00[upbeat rock music] Hello, everybody.
- 0:18Finally made it to that, uh, Full Spectrum Cycling Show 144 we previewed a [laughs] - [laughs]... couple of weeks ago. Couple weeks ago, yeah. Oh, hey. Threatening, threatening, threatening. Yeah.
- 0:26And it, it's finally arrived. Yeah, and we're here. Yep, yep. 144. Full squared. So- The Christmas special. Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Holly jolly's, everybody. Christmas is tomorrow. Uh-huh, uh-huh. Tomorrow.
- 0:38Happy holidays- Uh-huh... everyone who celebrates that sort of thing. Yeah, yeah. I'm trying to be, uh, kind of on the down low this year for some reason. I'm totally on the down low. Yes.
- 0:47Don't wanna travel too much, don't wanna- Nope... get around a bunch of peoples. Nope. Just kinda got, got my booster shot yesterday. Well, couple days ago now. Couple days ago.
- 0:57[laughs] No, no real side effects for me this time. The flu shot actually gave me more of a kinda arm punch than the, than the, the rovid thing. The rovid. [laughs] But, uh, yeah.
- 1:12[laughs] So- Did you just make that one up? Rovid. The rovid? The rovid. Whatever it is. You know what it is. You know what we're talking about. The rona or the COVID. That thing. The rovid. Ronin.
- 1:22It's the ro- Now it's, now it's the cron- Oh, okay. Oh... or it's omni. Or the rona. Yeah, omni. There you go. Or the cron. Omni Resurrection, it's a new movie- Yeah... I hear. [laughs] All right. Be safe, people.
- 1:34Maybe they should start- It's close... calling it The Matrix. That would be cool. The Matrix virus. No. [laughs] Too, too Android. We're beyond that now. I guess it, I guess it- when did it come out?
- 1:45It just, it just came out a day or two ago- Yeah...
- 1:46and I just noticed it and it's, they even emailed me and said, "You can watch it until January 21st or some such on the HBO, otherwise you're gonna have to go to the big screen." Oh. Yep. One month on HBO Max.
- 1:57It's actually a movie I'd like to see on the big screen. Yeah. I just don't know if I wanna go to a big screen. Right. [clears throat] With all the craziness out there.
- 2:05What's the other one that's coming out, like, tomorrow or something s- or yesterday? [imitates web-shooter firing] Spidey. Oh, Spider-Man. Yeah.
- 2:11There was another one, though, 'cause I'm not a Marvel guy and that would not have excited me. Although, if I- Oh, it's... Oh, wait. Is it anything in the DC universe? Maybe. But, uh- Is that what it is? I don't know.
- 2:20Whatever. It- I have a very large, probably six foot by something, Spider-Man movie... Not, it's not a poster. It's, like, some kind of vinyl thing. Right. Somehow ended up with that from somebody in the past.
- 2:36Well, Boba Fett's a couple days. If anybody wants it, send a bunch of money and I'll make sure it gets to you somehow. [laughs] 'Cause it's pretty cool. It's Spidey. He's, you know, doing his thing.
- 2:45[imitates web-shooter firing] His, his pose with, that he does when he does Spidey stuff. That Spider-Man. Uh- [laughs]... sitting in the room today, we got JK. Hello. Saw JK rolling by my house today.
- 2:57I was getting some eBay stuff ready to ship- Oh... and I looked out the window and there goes JK. [imitates motorcycle engine] Well, yeah. Right, right down my street. Yeah, your- Rolling...
- 3:04street is like a bowling alley, man. That is smooth. Yeah, it's very nice. Very smooth. I, that's, that's... I was procuring that Penn's Best I made from- Penn's Best... from the old Total Wine-y out in Cherry Hill.
- 3:17JK approved non-alcoholic... Do they call it beer or they just call it non-alcoholic s'well water? Malt beverage. Malt beverage. So. From the, from the Total Wine, which is a place my daughter works at. Oh, really?
- 3:31Yes, at least until she gets a real job at a theater that she's been looking for. Oh. Oh. Actually, they pay well for- Yeah... you know. 15? 16 something. 16. Yeah. 15, 16. I don't know. For her, you know. I'm not sure.
- 3:42Other people probably get more. She's like, "How much does a manager there make, do you think?" I'm like, "I don't know, 70, 80 probably." She goes, "Really?" [laughs] I go... And, "Oh, the wine you can drink, too."
- 3:54Right. Because it's called- Sample... Total Wine, not, like, Partial Wine or- Right, right... you know. Well, there's wine tastings. There's wine sales people who come in. There's- Every aisle there was a wine tasting.
- 4:02Yeah, yeah. It's, it's just the way it was. It was pretty awesome. [laughs] Was there any whiskey tasting? Uh, I s- Uh, I was offered whiskey the last time I was there. Yeah, they do have- The only time I was there...
- 4:10well, they do have, like, little stations in each- Yep... each aisle and each area. And they just- And actually, yeah, they have, like, a back room... they could actually just give you booze in the store, huh? Nice.
- 4:19Yeah. Yeah, I had, I had like a $47 whiskey sample and then, like, a house brand $18 bottle, and the $18 bottle was better. [laughs] Yeah. Right. Like, I- Sometimes it be like that... take it. Yeah. Yeah. Hey, everybody.
- 4:31Hey, everybody. Hey, guess what I'm gonna do? Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, I'm gonna push the button. Ah. Uh, welcome lady, re- wake, wi- [laughs] Hello there, caller. [laughs] Welcome to the radio program.
- 4:42Put the needle in. Put, put- Who do we have on the line? Put the needle on the record. It's all the way from Ontario, Canada calling. Oh, man. We haven't heard from you for a while. Y- y- well, yeah, I, I know.
- 4:53I tried to call in a couple times. It's, uh, it's a, it's a bit of a long story, but [laughs] yeah, it wasn't, uh, wasn't quite getting on, uh, on the time or whatever that sort of thing goes on.
- 5:03And it's been quite busy actually there, you know, since, uh, COVID kinda quit on us a while back. We've gotten, we've got busy, so. [laughs] Good. I don't know. We, we are making up for lost time I guess now. Yeah.
- 5:15Well, it's back down here. I don't know if you guys- Yeah... are suffering through it again, but, uh, it, it's, it's sneaking around the corner once again. Yeah. It, it is. Yeah.
- 5:24There's definitely some, uh, um, yeah, there's quite a bit of talk about the new, you know, what's been happening recently and, you know, I'm not a scientist, but from what I gather is if you're fully vaccinated and you get it, yeah, you're gonna suffer with it.
- 5:37But, I mean, with it, like with anything, we haven't- Yeah... had a cold or a sickness for almost two years, so I mean, the first head cold you get is gonna feel like you were run over by a truck, so I mean.
- 5:45[laughs] Right. Right. But for the most part, I think everybody seems to be, um, I, I don't, I haven't heard of any, that there's been a high death count or anything as far as you- Oh. Oh, no...
- 5:53you're vaccinated, so I mean, that's, that's a good, that's good news, so.
- 5:56No, I think all the things that we did over the last couple years to mitigate the, the COVID thing certainly helped keep the flu down, keep the colds down, keep- Uh. Basically keep a, pe- keep people from getting sick.
- 6:06So as they tell us, just don't hang out with people 'cause that's what you wanna avoid anyway. Right. Yeah. Stay away from people. Get your own island. Yeah. Yes. [laughs] Ride your bike in a bubble Stay indoors. Yeah.
- 6:15I think that's the best way There you go... to stay indoors and breathe the fresh air and stay out of the indoors. I think maybe- Yeah, that-... that's the, that's the whole- Ride your bike... the whole idea.
- 6:23Ride your bike. Well, it's been way warmer than normal down here. I don't know, what's it like where you are? Yeah, it's, uh, oh, it's been, uh, it's been a, it's been a dream, uh, commuting to work every day.
- 6:33It's, it's definitely been warmer. It's unusually warm. I mean, I'm still wearing my shoes.
- 6:39At this point usually I'm wearing some sort of a, uh, this short boot or something to keep the snow out from under my, top of my pants or- [laughs]... you know, from the snow up in the socks.
- 6:46But no, it's been, it's been, it's been really warm.
- 6:49It's been strange because you go to work in the morning and it could be cool enough to wear a couple layers and by the time you come back home again it's, you, you know, you're having a bag full of clothes.
- 6:58It's almost like a spring or fall, the transition between those two times. Sure. Yeah.
- 7:03It's, it's been, uh, yeah, I mean, it's, it's n- in a way, one way it's nice, but another way it's sort of, it's, um, it doesn't bode well for the summer because in the summer it could be exceptionally hot too, so [laughs] Right.
- 7:14Yeah. You know. Yeah. So re- remind, uh, our listener where you hail from up there in Canada. We're just, uh, well, right where I am it's, uh, it's a, a small, uh, borough just about an hour, uh, west of Toronto.
- 7:29So it's, it's, it's just on the, uh, it's on our major highway, then the 401 Highway and we're, uh, we're, we're not... I mean, almost every municipality now is connected with the highways.
- 7:39I mean, they're, it's just growing like we have, um, tremendous, uh, growth as far as housing goes. So it's, yeah, it's, it's, um, it's good.
- 7:48It's getting bigger and more people are moving around, so it's, it's getting busier so the roads are clogged up with cars and whatnot, but yeah. No, it's, it's good. Yep.
- 7:57How many, uh, immigrees, immigrants from, uh, the United States are showing up? Or is it other countries mostly? Oh, we... No, you know what?
- 8:05For the most part it's, um, it, Toronto is, uh, like most big cities is, uh, terribly expensive to live in, so th- this is a...
- 8:13Oh, I mean, if you don't mind sitting in traffic, uh, it's a, it's a fairly short commute back to Toronto. So there's been a lot of people that did originally live in Toronto, and maybe it's become,
- 8:25um, a little bit too congested for them, so here's, you know, a bit more moving around space and there's a, you know, you might actually buy a house with a backyard and- Uh-huh... um, so yeah.
- 8:34So we have a lot of people that are moving in from, from, from the east, from Toronto and, and those, uh, all those neighboring communities too.
- 8:40So yeah, that's where our major growth is coming from, is people from, that are coming, moving from Toronto. Ah. Little flight to the suburbs. Yeah.
- 8:47I just heard a thing on the old, uh, radio thing with the waves and the deal and the, you know, how you listen to it about the, uh, birthrate in the United States was as low as it's been in I don't know how long.
- 8:58It was a l- it's been a long time since it was this low- Oh...
- 9:01because of the whole, the whole thing, but it was somewhere around 1% or under, partially due to people, you know, kicking the bucket and partially due to people not making more babies. Yeah. But, uh- No more babies...
- 9:14interesting study. [laughs] You would think it, it, being locked in your house with your- Yeah. Yeah... with your spouse or significant other, it would actually be the opposite. Yeah. Yeah.
- 9:21When, when I w- Having more time to kind of... Yeah.
- 9:23I've, I visited Cognac, France in 2002 or right after they had their bad blizzard where it had the windstorm and stuff and they were out without power for like several weeks and eight months later their birthrate like exploded.
- 9:38[laughs] I'm like, "Well, they're French." This lady told me this story and I'm like, "This is like the greatest story I've ever heard."
- 9:43I mean, I'm sorry that you guys had to, were without power for weeks, but sitting around in Cognac, France drinking cognac or wine, um, yeah, okay. Not bad. Right on.
- 9:54So what is, uh, what is the race season, fat bike race season look like up in your neck of the woods? You know, um, there isn't a huge...
- 10:02In, where I am, it, there's not a huge, um, fat bike race series so to speak, but, um, I guess in the spring, the early spring, uh, we have a, uh, what they call the Paris to Ancaster, uh, race just, uh, not too far from here.
- 10:16And so it's, it's a, a 40-kilometer, um, a fat bike, dedicated fat bike race, and then they have other, uh...
- 10:22It's, it's a cross race mostly, but they have opened it up to different, you know, whatever bike you wanna ride really, and it's...
- 10:28If you can race there is, um, there is categories to race and then there's ones that are just kind of a fun run.
- 10:32You know, you can take the kids, do a 20-kilometer ride with the family and, you know, so that's the, that's the one that's coming up soon that I think that so far, as far as I can tell, they're still gonna have live, you know...
- 10:44There's actually people this year they're gonna be hosting an actual live event, which is awesome 'cause the virtual thing, I mean, is kind of, I'm kinda burned out on the whole virtual thing. I mean, I- Right...
- 10:53if I wanna ride my bike around, I mean, I bike back and forth to work, so I kinda [laughs] what's the difference between biking back and forth to work and riding around by myself in the woods on a weekend?
- 11:02I mean, there's, you know, so [laughs] it's, you know, so this is kinda nice. I'm looking forward to that for sure. Have you been able to upgrade your bike at all or are parts kind of a scarcity up there?
- 11:12They are, th- yeah. They are very scarce. There's, uh, I have about three different friends of mine that, well, acquaintances, acquaintances/friends that own bike shops.
- 11:22So between them I can, I can definitely get enough parts to, uh, keep the bikes moving because, I mean, the fat bike eats through parts and the wear just because- Yeah... of the snow and the grind and the sand and stuff.
- 11:32[laughs] So I'm always worried that come January I'm gonna have to be putting a, another drivetrain on the thing, and then I have another few months to go before it gets a nice cleanup.
- 11:39And so that, you know, you have to time it just right so you can make it through the season with one drivetrain and then come spring you put a nice fresh, fresh set on there and then you're good to go for the summer.
- 11:48But yeah, no, actually [laughs] because parts, I, I was lucky enough to find a wheel set and, uh, a nice rear hub because,
- 11:57I guess because it was such a delay in stuff getting to the bike shop that the fellow that had ordered it by the time it finally showed up had made other arrangements.
- 12:05So here they are sitting with this surplus stock of an item that they didn't really wanna bring in in the first place, and it just so happens it'll fit my bike. So [laughs] Oh, nice. Yeah, yeah. Lucky you.
- 12:14So win-win for me. So that's my... You know, so I'm, that's kinda, that's kinda cool on that end from my, from my point of view. But yeah, there, there is definitely a short...
- 12:24There's stock, but if you're looking, I mean, if you want handlebars and grips and things, that, I mean, that's not too big a problem, but it's mostly drivetrain stuff that's, that's becoming a bit scarce, I think, 'cause it's chains and cassettes and whatnot.
- 12:35Yeah. Down here, the 11-speed stuff, which is, you know, a couple years old now, is really hard to find, if you can get it at all. Yeah. I'm running, uh...
- 12:43For me, for simplicity reasons, and, uh, with both of my bikes, the two bikes that I do have, I kinda wanted them so they, if in case something did foul up on one, I could kinda swap it out.
- 12:52I, I just ran a 10-speed Deore, uh, Shimano with the 42 tooth. And you know what? That works great. I have had... I h- don't have any complaints. It's, it's, it's great. It's, um, fairly reliable.
- 13:02It, it's in, you know, price-wise, you can't beat it. And so if you beat up a few- Right... in the summer, it's not so bad. Doesn't hurt so bad.
- 13:10And, and it, it's worked really, really, really well, and I've, I've been... I have no complaints whatsoever with the 10-speed.
- 13:14And it's got that clutch derailleur, so you don't have a lot of chain drop and stuff like that. So yeah, I can't, I have no, no complaints with the 10-speed Shimano- Yeah... that I'm working with right now.
- 13:23Well- The new bike, if I get a new bike, I definitely would consider 11 or possibly a 12-speed, but not for the winter riding, just because of the- Oh, yeah. It's not, it's- You know, it, it, it, it- Yeah...
- 13:31I think the 12s might be a bit, uh, finicky if it comes to, if it gets a bit grit in there or if it, helps you- My-... if it's not exactly finely tuned. My winter is a 1x9 and a eight-speed internal.
- 13:44Several eight-speed internals. I've, yeah, I've got a Rohloff. Oh. [laughs] Quiet, jackass. [laughs] And a 1x12, though.
- 13:54But yeah, sand really, the narrower that chain gets, the more that sand and, and grit and grime and salt and whatnot really starts to, to get in there. But, uh, I g- the one with studs on's only a 10-speed. Yeah.
- 14:06That's nice. I like 10-speeds. I, I have no problems. Yeah, good stuff. And you know, the D- Deore is at, inexpensive enough that if you really do have to replace it, it's not like your mortgage on the house or anything.
- 14:15Right. I'm also going with that Box Nine. No, no, exactly. Exactly. Box Nine, baby. Oh, yeah. I'm going with the Box Nine- Oh, yeah. That's right... on the new fat bike.
- 14:22Tony's building a new fat bike with Box Nine stuff. That's a really neat... I'm really intrigued. I like the, I liked the Box Nine. Yeah. I'm- It's got a nice wide range- Yeah... and a nice wide chain.
- 14:31What's not to like about this? [laughs] Yeah. [laughs] It should be pretty, you know, strong. Is the Box, is the Box, uh, shifter, it only has one thumb lever, correct? That you can push, pull with the same lever?
- 14:41Is it... 'Cause I kinda like that. It's, it's simplicity, right? Uh, there's not too many, uh... Is that the one I'm thinking of, is the Box Nine that has a- That's a good question... single thumb shifter?
- 14:48They actually, they... So they have a couple different ones. One of them is kinda e-bike specific, and it will only shift one gear at a time, and then the other one, you can row through three or four gears at once.
- 15:00Yeah, you know what? That's on a bike I don't ride all that often. So I have to go look. Yeah. It, yeah. Cool. Good question. We'll have to- [laughs] We'll have to figure that out for the next show. Middle of next week.
- 15:10Oh, uh- [laughs]... T- Tony wants to... Not that one. This one. Tony wants to- [laughs] We, we arrived at the top of the hill with Elroy here. Uh- Yeah, we'll see where I might be...
- 15:18we're right up there at the- If he's having himself an adult beverage... top of the hill, yeah. Yeah. Are you, uh, are you sucking anything down over there? Well, abs... You know, it's, I'm always, uh, s- yes, I am.
- 15:29I'm always surprised at, um- Right... some of the guys that phone into the, uh, the, uh, show there, and they're surprised when you ask them w- if they're drinking. And they're, they kinda get [laughs]...
- 15:37It takes them back a bit. Yes, absolutely. I, I know this is part of the show. And so tonight I'm actually having a, uh, a Black Donnellys Brewing Co dark house ale. Ooh.
- 15:49It's only a 5%, but it is decent, and it has quite a, uh, interesting history. The Black Donnellys have a interesting history here in Ontario, so it's a, a family name that's, that's well-known, but it's a,
- 16:01it's kind of a dark history, but it's, it's a cool, cool brewery. Well, if you, if you think about it and you're bored, send me the l- the link- Yeah, email it... to the brewery to, uh- Yeah...
- 16:08just greg@everydaycycles.com and I'll- I would love to-... take a peek at that... yeah, that sounds great. Sure. Yep, sounds tasty... absolutely. Yeah. Yeah, absolutely, I can do that. Yeah, absolutely. Right on, man.
- 16:19Well, uh, we, uh, you got anything else you wanna leave us with? We got another... Oh, it's, it's, uh, we got another caller on the line. [laughs] Not, not a pro... No, I don't wanna take up too much of the time.
- 16:30Oh, no worries. I do wanna w- 'cause I know it's Christmas Eve. Merry Christmas, man. So I wanna wish you guys a merry Christmas. Yeah, you too. [laughs] Right on.
- 16:36And I wanted to wish you guys, absolutely wish you guys a merry Christmas and, uh, a good New Year, and I'll be sure to phone in again, and hopefully, uh, there's some good news and some, uh, something exciting to talk about again.
- 16:46So yeah, absolutely. It's nice talking to you guys. All right. All right. You as well. Thanks for calling, buddy. See you later. Later, Elroy. Bye. Yep. Yeah, have a good night. Yep. Bye bye.
- 16:54Elroy, everybody, from up there, Ontario, near Toronto, Canada. I love calling. A... Yeah, yeah. He's always a great guy to talk to. Yeah. It's been a, it's been, I bet it's been- It's been, it's been a while...
- 17:04almost a year or so. It's been a while. I could look back through the- It's been a while. [laughs] I could look back through the show notes- I really should have known... and find out, but, uh- Yeah.
- 17:14[laughs] It's been a while. So, uh, uh, w- so top of the hill, we, we're s- we're still doing the Gathering Place Trope D'Elico- Yeah. Yeah...
- 17:21from last week, which turned out to be a really good beer, but we didn't really drink it all last week, so that's what- It was two weeks ago, wasn't it? Whatever. Why you gotta be all correcting me? Yeah. Yeah. 144 guy.
- 17:30[laughs] 'Cause it's show 144. [laughs] 'Cause it was mentioned in 142 that- Right... this was the 144 beer. This was 144. Oh, okay. So yeah. Oh, yeah, so that was forward-thinking future talk. That's it. Yeah.
- 17:40Yeah, yeah. It's our rules. It all makes sense. Did you say there was another caller? Well, I did. And then they hung up. I'm just, I'm just, my, my hand is inching towards the button. [laughs] It's getting up there.
- 17:50It's, it's sneaking up on the green talk, talk light. Oh. I push the button? Did I push the button? Push the button. There we go. Push the button. I don't know how, this seems like it's all new to me.
- 18:00I've never done this before. Welcome to the radio program, caller. Who do we have on the line? This big sexy chicken is brought to you by Jagermeister. [laughs] It's my wife. It's my wife. Yum, yum, Jagermeister.
- 18:14What's up, big sexy? Uh, J- [laughs] So I, so I, I w- I was going around the table and I introduced JK, but I forgot to say Tony's here too, and so is James today.
- 18:23James is sitting in in the, uh, in the split, the uprights, uh, right between the two, uh, goalposts there. Yeah, gotta keep him separated. What up, Jimmy Coyote? Hey, what's up, big sexy?
- 18:35So, Big Sexy- You still got girls showing their vaginas on your porch? [laughs] Sometimes. Well, you'll get that in that neighborhood now and again. I think you ought to- That's right...
- 18:46probably, you ought to probably use that, uh, radio voice you got and get those Jagermeister guys to start- Yeah... you know, sponsoring your ride. [laughs] Yeah. Officially. Yeah.
- 18:56Officially sponsoring with Cash- I'm, I'm, I'm working, I'm-... on the barrelhead and/or Jagermeister in the snifter. Right. Well, I, I, uh, lit- literally... Okay, so I've had the most wonderful, horrible,
- 19:09awesome, shitty day. My phone shit the bed, so I had to go to the nearest Walmart, which was like 13 miles from where I was, to get a new phone,
- 19:20and they didn't have the phone I wanted and then I had to get a more expensive phone because, you know, I'm not gonna downgrade at this point.
- 19:28But then I just barely, before I called in you guys, I just barely bought my bottle of Jagermeister, so I'm gonna take a sip. Ooh, fuck it. [laughs] That's kinda like the- So, but, uh-...
- 19:39kinda like the top of the hill for Big Sexy is a, is a Jager slam. Jager slam. Yeah. Little rip on the Jager. But- Mm-hmm...
- 19:47um, and then, and then I, and now I'm, I'm looking, uh, front, the front tire, my front tire's got a fucking leak, a slow leak. I just pumped her up the other day, or yesterday, and now it's, uh, now we're flat again.
- 20:00And it's a very slow leak 'cause I went at least 20 miles today. Well, I don't know if anybody else- So-...
- 20:08cottons to this idea, but since you're at Walmart, you really could just grab a can of Fix-a-Flat and slam it [laughs] in there and be- Yeah... fine till you get home. Yep.
- 20:15You might wanna replace the tube when- Yeah, but, uh-... you get there, but that stuff works. Well, I've got, I've, I've got three tubes in my bag, so... Just make sure you check that tire for the pokey things.
- 20:25You might cut your finger, but you won't cut your tube. Yeah. Right, right, right. No, it, and I, I know.
- 20:31I, I won- I wonder what it is, 'cause it, 'cause, like, literally I pumped it up yesterday, and it just went flat just now. So it's like, that, that's like almost 30 miles, so that's a really slow leak.
- 20:45So I might just pump it up again and just see how far I can get. 'Cause I got, I got friends here in Katy, um, Katy, Texas, about 20 miles from here, are gonna put me up for Christmas, and, uh,
- 20:57we're gonna sip on Canadian whiskey and talk about how good we used to have it. And, uh, and, uh, we're just gonna say Merry Christmas, and that's, and that's it. And then I'm on my way to, uh, you all and y'all's.
- 21:11Right on. I'm way behind schedule, but that's all good. Yeah, I thought you were gonna be, and then- How-... no one's arriving. [laughs] How's the River West? Oh. I ad- I, man. The best. Yeah, it, it's, it is, it's good.
- 21:23It's just there's a, a bunch of people getting little bit of sniffles here and there, and being a little more safe- Yeah... than normal and, uh- It's definitely not as, uh, warm as down there. [laughs] No.
- 21:34No, it cooled off today pretty good. From last week, we probably dropped 40 degrees. Yep. [laughs] Easily. So I, I, I, I may have inadvertently, uh, made, uh, the River West 24, uh, a little more interesting this year.
- 21:50Uh, my friend up in Merrill, her name's Nisha, and her husband, Lee, may be coming down to meet me at the River West 24, and I'm like, "Uh, well, I can't really invite you, but if you're gonna come, you're gonna come."
- 22:06I can't stop them, but- Why can't you invite them?... holy moly. Oh, it's not like it's not your event, man.
- 22:11I mean, it's not, I'm not saying it's gonna be a bad thing, but I'm, I'm saying that they, they said, "Oh, we'll, we'll come down there for that." And I'm like, uh- Yeah, you should. They should. They absolutely should.
- 22:19Ev- everybody should be here. How, how many thousands of people are here? It's- Yeah, it, they do have a fucking blast. It's the people's, it's actually the people's holiday. It's the people's holiday.
- 22:27They absolutely should be here. Yeah. And so should you. And, and I, I really, I really enjoyed it last year, uh, last year, so I'm, I'm, I'm coming back. I'm coming back this year for Big Sexy and Heather return.
- 22:40Oh, boy. This sounds like a, a sequel, a movie in the making. Yeah. We should probably document this on video when he shows up this time. Are you gonna c- you're coming across on the ferry- Oh, yeah... again, right?
- 22:51Ferry, ferry video tour. Yeah. I, I'd have to say most likely I'm coming across the ferry. Um, I've got a friend in Chicago that keeps on bugging me, "Why don't you come to Chicago?"
- 23:01I'm like, "What the fuck do you think I would go to Chicago for?" [laughs] 'Cause it sucks to ride a bike. [laughs] Yeah. Like, y- you know, uh, I, I wanna, I wanna survive this mission. [laughs] Absolutely.
- 23:14Why the hell would I go to Chicago? [laughs] But- I, I say that all the time... but
- 23:20I am, I am gonna have a lot of time on my hands if I wanna time the River West 24, and I wanna time out, you know, I wanna time, uh, my birthday and blah, blah, you know.
- 23:31I'm gonna have a lot of time on my hands when I'm in the, uh, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois area. I might, I might dip into Chicago to see my friend. I really wanna see him.
- 23:43I just don't, I really don't just wanna, I don't wanna ride through Chicago. Hey, you could always park Heather up here and take the Amtrak down there and visit and- You could even put Heather on the Amtrak.
- 23:53Yeah, you could even put Heather on the Amtrak, actually. Yeah, I, I, I've, I've thought about that, too.
- 23:57I've, I've thought about, uh, parking Heather in Camden, Louisiana, and coming up there to visit you all, and then, and then visit Chicago, then take the train back down to Louisiana and be like, "Okay, woo, done with that."
- 24:09Yeah, I mean, you can, you can pretty much walk around River West. You don't really need a bike to get around the neighborhood. Right. But getting out of the neighborhood, you might want one, but... Right.
- 24:20James has a text. I just heard- No, but anyway- I just heard the Road Runner over there... well- Yeah. [laughs] Well, ho, ho, ho. Tomorrow- Merry Christmas, y'all... Merry Christmas, Big Sexy. Merry Christmas.
- 24:32Merry merries. And actually, isn't Jagermeister- Yeah, well-... a good Christmas be- Libation? Yeah, it is. Yeah, it is. It's versatile. Yeah.
- 24:40Yeah, well, I'll tell you what, um, uh, Monday, Monday morning I, uh, I woke up, I woke up and I packed up, and I got to the gas station and I bought a Mountain Dew and a, and a $5 bingo scratcher, and lo and behold, I won 400 bucks.
- 24:55Well. Nice. Hey-oh. Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding. That's... Yeah. Big winner, Big Sexy.
- 25:01So what, what- And, and then I went, I went and got, I went and got a fancy hotel room with a, you know, I had a hu- put a huge cash deposit down, but I, but I, I got a fancy hotel room and I was eating macaroni and cheese and hot dogs and watching Monday Night Football.
- 25:14It was awesome. [laughs] Sounds like life goals. So, so like, like I said, like I said, ev- everything, everything's been horribly shitty, but wonderfully wonderful at the same time. Texas has been good to me, baby.
- 25:30Nice. Well- Happy to hear it... good luck on your, uh, your final leg of your tour, and, you know- Yeah... check back in with us whenever you want. Of course.
- 25:41You know, um, and, uh, probably Happy New Year, 'cause I, I probably won't call you till, uh, till 2022. I'll probably call y'all next year. Right on. Yeah. Well, we'll talk to you next year then. Yeah.
- 25:52[laughs] And then, uh, and, and when I'm in Louisiana and all snuggled up and, and, uh, ready to wait till Easter to, to launch my, my next, uh, my next mission on the world. Very good. Well, happy holidays, sir.
- 26:09Well, and then I, I... Literally, literally I can't thank you guys enough. I love you guys. Uh, River West is the best, and, uh, I, uh, uh,
- 26:17I'll, I'll, I'll never forget how awesome, how, uh, how we were treated like royalty when we were in River West. I mean, it was...
- 26:25I, I, I tell everybo- I tell everybody I can, like, how awesome everybody is there, so I ca- I can't thank you enough. Happy to have you. Yep, always welcome, sir. Yeah, always here. Happy holidays, buddy. Come on back.
- 26:39And Merry Christmas. Merry Christmas. Thank Jimmy for how he get, get those vagina-showing g- girls off your porch, yo. [laughs] All right, man. Talk to you soon. Have to get some bug spray for that. Yeah.
- 26:48[laughs] All right, guys. See, see y'all later. Talk to you soon. Peace. Merry Christmas. Bye. All right, everybody. Big Sexy, ladies and gentlemen. That's actually...
- 26:58I didn't expect Elroy to call in, didn't expect Big Sexy to call in, and by cracky, we did a show somehow. There i- there...
- 27:06[laughs] Even though it's almost time to wrap this puppy up, I did wanna mention one thing that I caught when I was going through some news today. The...
- 27:14I think George from, uh, Broken Spoke and the Snow Crown Series alluded to it, but the January 22nd race has been moved to a different venue, and it's on the Snow Crown Series site, the Green Bay Country Club. Oh, fancy.
- 27:30No, I just, I don't know if this- [laughs]...
- 27:31if this is just a dream, but maybe it was actually a reality, that there was an old maybe Miller Lite commercial where there's a guy on a golf green and he's putting, and another guy comes flying over the golf green on a motocross bike out of the sand pit.
- 27:46Does that sound familiar to anyone? It do. It does sound- Yeah, I just- Yeah, it rings a bell... I w- we were in, uh, s- I think it was...
- 27:52Gosh, it was one of the first years we were doing fat bike stuff when Gomez and I were traveling around, and we went to Gaylord, Michigan, which is north up there not that far from Traverse City, and we did a race on a golf course.
- 28:05It used all the sand traps. I think they pretty much ping-ponged off. It was super awesome. It's just- Yeah... what, what can you do on a golf course in the winter? Nothing. Ride a fat bike.
- 28:15And JP over in Madison does a race. Uh, they don't really use the sand traps over there, but they have the snowmobile club come around for several days in advance and pack down the trail. Pack it down a little bit, yeah.
- 28:26So hopefully- Nice... we get some snow this year. I haven't seen a flake yet, I don't think. Uh, I can take it or leave it. Couple. [laughs] Couple. Li- little column A, little column B. Yeah.
- 28:37Depending on what the activities going on are. All right. Well, a week from tomorrow is the January 1st ride, and I did the advanced forecast. Like- What'd they say?... what's gonna be...
- 28:47Oh, they say it's gonna be cold, but I'm just wondering if that's going on historical data. Yeah. It's like it's gonna be 4 degrees to 20 or something. Like, I don't believe them. Don't snow though.
- 28:55I think it's historical data. I don't think they actually know yet. Yeah. But we'll know in a week, I guess. Right. It'll be between 10 and 25 degrees Fahrenheit, maybe up to 33. Maybe. [laughs] Thank you, JK. Ish.
- 29:12Maybe. Yeah, yeah. I don't know. Hey, JK, j- uh, this Things I Dig thing, I think this is a good thing. We just don't normally actually do it for some reason, but it's sometimes on there, but JK's got some stuff.
- 29:24What's... Explain what's on your Things I Dig list. I got the Wyze watch. Oh, look at that. It's on his wrist. Oh. I got the Wyze watch, and you can actually put your own wallpaper on it- This is a-... which is nice...
- 29:38whoa... I, I'm, I mean- I've been intrigued by this... right, and, um- Nice... Tony and I are both... I'm deep into the Wyze universe. Yes. I have several cameras. I, I like Wyze. I got the, I got the lamp.
- 29:47Look at the lamp right there. Oh, that's nice. I got the lights in the showroom we can change the colors on. I don't, you know, I don't- So far, I mean, so far it, to me, how I'm using it is it, it's, it's pretty basic.
- 29:59I mean, it goes with steps- Okay. Okay, okay... and it has apparently blood oxygen. Yeah, yeah. That's something new. And heart rate. It does have a sleep, uh, uh, whatever.
- 30:10Sleep- I only put it on yesterday, so I only have-... sleep app, yeah. It tracks your sleep patterns and stuff. Yeah. Does it have blood alcohol? No. [laughs] Well, and thank God. Wow, that would be a bad thing.
- 30:19So I looked at- If you had grade six illegal, yeah... I did look at one of the things, and, you know, and it, like, preloads it with all of the whatever functionality it does have. Right.
- 30:27And then there was one that was optional, and I was like, "Oh, shit," and it was cycle tracker. I'm like, "Yeah, shit, right on, you..." Um, not that kind of cycle. Oh, yeah, the- Apple Watch has that too.
- 30:39[laughs] It's for, it's for the ladies. Yes. [laughs] Oh, dude, I almost got a spit-take out of Tony. Almost. Oh, oh, it's... There we go. Oh. [laughs] You had to swallow. It was close. You got it down.
- 30:50So what is- Dude, Greg, you almost got- That was awesome... sprayed. Right? Yeah, don't- [laughs] We need a shield for the RodeCaster. We'll put it over it. Yeah. Uh, what's, uh, battery life like on that thing?
- 30:59Do you know? Uh, I charged... It came with a full charge. It is really long. It... They said, I, I think that they were saying 10 days. Yeah. And right now it is at... Dun-da-da. Eyes, where are my eyes?
- 31:14Oh, look at those. I know. 69, dude. 69%. Yeah, I didn't know it 'cause- And I s- I charged it and unplugged it from charge at 9:00 yesterday. I don't know how you get 10 days. And it, it's dirt cheap too, isn't it?
- 31:2730 bucks. That is a key thing. Yeah. Is that on Amazon, or did you buy it direct? Direct from them. And it was- You know they're all ex-Amazon people anyway, right?
- 31:36And it was only, uh- Well, the funny thing about it, so I've been watching this, it's- It was only, like, two weeks... it's 30 bucks- Right... plus, like, eight bucks shipping, right?
- 31:44Uh, well [laughs]- Whereas if you buy it on Amazon, it's 40 bucks. [laughs] So it's like two bucks more. Well, it was free shipping if you were... Ah, what is it? Free shipping over 150 bucks. Right, right.
- 31:55So did you buy a bunch of other stuff? Yeah, damn it. Of course you did. [laughs] Well, I bought... Yeah, I bought two other ones for gifts, because they're 30 fucking dollars. All right. Um, [laughs] Yeah. Good call.
- 32:04It works. I guess I could put one on my other wrist. Right. Uh, they do have, and I haven't opened it up, and I also got, I didn't put that on there, was, uh, the scale. Yes. The, the new one? No, the old one.
- 32:15The old one. The, the, the fancier one. The old one was 20 bucks. The old one was 20 bucks. You know how much my Withings cost? No, when it was Nokia? Wait, no. Same as a candy...
- 32:21I think you got the new one then, didn't you? Mm-mm. I'm pretty sure. I don't think so. No, no, 'cause it was, like, they, it was, like, the, like, Y scale, and then their, like, Y scale S. Yeah, the S.
- 32:31May be shipping next month or something like that. Oh, okay, okay. So. They're back out now, but yes. And then I got a replacement band. Yeah. For, for nine bucks.
- 32:37I have their, I have their little mini vacuum cleaner too. Well, it was for nine bucks to get me to the 150. To, they let you over the top, yeah. Nice. Otherwise it was, you know. Yeah.
- 32:46There was a lot of math gymnastics with that little- I am joining... I have drank that Kool-Aid. I think they make a fine product for the price. I don't, I can't...
- 32:56I'm having a really hard time justifying wearing a watch again, when I have a phone- Yeah... that does everything for me. I'm, I'm getting, I'm just getting used to this. Um, I don't like things around my wrists.
- 33:05Well, since I'm the Apple Kool-Aid guy- Plus the Apple Watch... I've been wearing one since the first wat- Apple Watch came out. So now I'm used to it again. Okay. You know what?
- 33:12And James and I were doing something before, and it started talking to me unbeknownst to me. It was just like, "Hey, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah."
- 33:19I forgot what I was talking about, but it's like, "You can find control point blahbity-blah here, hoo, hoo, hoo." [laughs] Yeah, that's kinda interesting. Which I don't even know I had turned on, I guess. Uh-huh.
- 33:28It's smarter than me is what- You mean, like, it's always listening to you, is what you're saying, right? You're always listening to me. I'm not always- The whole world is always being listened to. Of course. Yeah.
- 33:37I know that. So let's not, let's not fool anybody. [laughs] I get text, I even get text messaging through it. Just never had a watch hone in on a conversation before. Right. Yeah. No, no.
- 33:44So one of the greatest stories I have- Don't speak to Goozles, uh, Zoozles while wearing- You guys, I don't know if Tony remembers Bronc, but I know that, uh, JK and, and, and- I know Bronc...
- 33:52Jo- well, you guys all know Bronc... yeah, watch my sandwich. Long, uh, unfortunately departed friend of ours. Yeah. But w- he and I were sitting at- He's not that long...
- 34:00I think we were, I don't know where we were sitting. We're s- we were sitting at a local pubbery talking, and I was relating a story, and he was talking. And the watch was tech- it was, it was writing it down on a note,
- 34:13and it fucked everything up. But it is the funniest thing, and I have it- Oh, shit... I have it saved as a note. Yeah. And someday, maybe next time, I'll read it on the air, 'cause it's hilarious. I do recall this.
- 34:23It was something simple like, "I saw your car parked out in front of the bar," blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 34:28But the way it transcribed our, both of our, instead of one person, like the dual conversation, it was hilarious. Oh, man.
- 34:34[laughs] Yeah, and wasn't there, there, like, a, like, a pack of, like, all caps lock or something?
- 34:39[laughs] Yeah, I think I could, uh, possibly do a whole comedy s- show in a big venue like the Riverside Theater based on this idea- [laughs]... of that thing fucking everything up. Right, right.
- 34:48[laughs] We just have to go put ourselves in that situation. Ah, that sounds like fun. All right, everybody. Anybody got anything before I turn off the peoples and turn on the mucus? Merry Christmas. Happy holidays.
- 34:59Merry Chri- Merry Christmas, everybody. Join us on January 1st in Milwaukee for the, uh, Polar Bear Plunge, which we will watch the dips do the dip. What day of the week is it? Saturday. Oh. Yes.
- 35:09That means- S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y. It's always one week exactly past Christmas, so you can- Well, also- Every year... Christmas is Saturday too. I didn't know that either. [laughs] Critmas. You know. You're today years old.
- 35:20No. It's always the la- Come on, what does that mean, you guys? Saturday- Christmas is always the last Saturday of December, right? In the pub. Ooh. [laughs] Think it was the fucking tube. Ooh. Ow, ow, ow.
- 35:30Explosions, explosions. Ow. It means the swinging door is open. This is actually part of the plan already. So- Right? You are correct, sir. Swinging door just after we watch the dips do the dip. Yeah. All right then.
- 35:45Next week, everybody's peace. Vamanos. So long, farewell. Auf Wiedersehen. Good night.
- 35:52[upbeat rock music]
