- 2:04Speaker 2: The host breakdown all things Hallmark with the perfect mix
- 2:07Speaker 2: of humor, honesty, and genuine love for the channel. It
- 2:10Speaker 2: feels like watching cheesy comfort movies with your funniest friends.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Highly recommends.
- 2:16Speaker 4: You know, I feel like that's a reoccurring comment. Hanging
- 2:20Speaker 4: out with your friends.
- 2:22Speaker 3: That's the goal here, folks.
- 2:23Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, no, that makes me feel good, like that's
- 2:26Speaker 4: the vibe we're trying to create. So I'm glad that
- 2:29Speaker 4: it's coming through for listeners. Let's hear a movie synopsis
- 2:33Speaker 4: for Loston Paradise. When the founder of a high end
- 2:39Speaker 4: fashion company gets marooned on a deserted island with a chef.
- 2:45Speaker 4: Romance blossoms as they work together to survive. Now what
- 2:49Speaker 4: you didn't see I air quoted deserted. It all comes together.
- 2:54Speaker 4: But when I read this synopsis headed into this movie
- 2:57Speaker 4: like I didn't kite.
- 2:59Speaker 3: Oh ye can read the synopsis ahead of time? I
- 3:01Speaker 3: catch you know? That was part of the stick.
- 3:04Speaker 2: Until I viewed it got it. Lost in Paradise was
- 3:07Speaker 2: directed by Dustin Breeker. He's no stranger to Hallmark, having
- 3:10Speaker 2: directed some of the biggest movies on the network, including
- 3:13Speaker 2: A Newport Christmas and Holiday touchdown of Bill's Love Story.
- 3:17Speaker 2: He is tapped to direct the forthcoming sequel to A
- 3:20Speaker 2: Biltmore Christmas.
- 3:22Speaker 4: Stephanie Jackson and Zach Lewis share screenwriting credit. They have
- 3:26Speaker 4: collaborated before on films like Christmas and Tahoe and Sweet
- 3:29Speaker 4: Pecan Summer.
- 3:31Speaker 2: Lacey Shabert stars as Sophia. Lacey has one hundred eighty
- 3:34Speaker 2: seven acting credits, including She's Making a List, haulaw The
- 3:38Speaker 2: Halloween and an unexpected Valentine All from twenty twenty five.
- 3:42Speaker 2: She recently made Hallmark headlines with the announcement that she'll
- 3:45Speaker 2: star in the first ever Hallmark Disney collaboration, set to
- 3:50Speaker 2: premiere during the twenty twenty six Countdown to Christmas season.
- 3:55Speaker 4: Ian Harding stars as Max with thirty seven acting credits.
- 3:59Speaker 4: He's currently co starring in the Netflix series Ripple and
- 4:03Speaker 4: recently made headlines for an upcoming reunion with his Pretty
- 4:06Speaker 4: Little Liar's co star Lucy Hale in the Twelve Dates
- 4:10Speaker 4: of Christmas, a project not for Hallmark.
- 4:14Speaker 2: James Trevenna appears as pilot and friend Julian. This is
- 4:17Speaker 2: his first Hallmark role, but he has been in other
- 4:20Speaker 2: projects like Friends Like Her and Sacrifice.
- 4:23Speaker 4: And everybody's talking about him as being like Hemsworth adjacent.
- 4:25Speaker 3: Yeah, Hallmark Helmsworth. Oh I like that name. Thank you.
- 4:29Speaker 4: Paul Hughes appears as ex husband Mario. Paul is an
- 4:33Speaker 4: Australian actor and with his thirty two acting credits, this
- 4:36Speaker 4: is his first time on Hallmark. Side note, it would
- 4:39Speaker 4: have been really funny if they would have made like
- 4:41Speaker 4: Brennan Elliott her ex husband.
- 4:43Speaker 3: Yep, yep, would have been great.
- 4:45Speaker 2: Lauren Gibson plays Miranda. This is just her fourth acting
- 4:48Speaker 2: credit and her first time on Hallmark.
- 4:50Speaker 4: Sean Miguel Perez appears as co pilot Lance with fifteen
- 4:55Speaker 4: acting credits cist his first time on Hallmark. Keith Nielsen
- 4:58Speaker 4: is the costume designer and this movie was filmed on
- 5:01Speaker 4: location in Fiji. Let's take a quick break and we
- 5:04Speaker 4: will come right back with our first impressions of Lost
- 5:08Speaker 4: in Paradise. Hey, Wendy, what was your first impression of
- 5:19Speaker 4: Lost in Paradise? Like the many who left their own
- 5:23Speaker 4: first impressions on our Instagram, this is a really solid
- 5:27Speaker 4: start to the new year. And I say, yes, Chef.
- 5:32Speaker 2: My first impression is, who knew what I was missing
- 5:34Speaker 2: in my life? Was the nice version of Miranda Priestley.
- 5:37Speaker 4: Oh interesting, you're right, You're right. She's like the very sweet,
- 5:44Speaker 4: wholesome Miranda Priestley.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:47Speaker 2: They had an opportunity to make this badass businesswoman be
- 5:50Speaker 2: kind of bitchy, and she wasn't. So that landed for you. Yeah,
- 5:55Speaker 2: I don't want to have to fight through disliking her.
- 5:58Speaker 2: Women can be strong and smart and also nice.
- 6:03Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, yeah, But to.
- 6:04Speaker 2: Your point, I thought this was an excellent start to
- 6:07Speaker 2: the new year, a really nice transition out of Christmas content,
- 6:12Speaker 2: out of wintery content. My husband was like, why are
- 6:15Speaker 2: they airing this tropical movie in January? And I was like,
- 6:18Speaker 2: because it's January. Everybody wants to get away from the winter.
- 6:22Speaker 2: We want to fresh start. Don't you want to be
- 6:24Speaker 2: on a tropical island.
- 6:25Speaker 4: Well, let's talk about that for a second, because in
- 6:28Speaker 4: years past it was Winterfest.
- 6:32Speaker 3: Winterfest and then New Year New.
- 6:35Speaker 4: Movies, And would those movies be surrounded with themes of
- 6:40Speaker 4: like being cold Still?
- 6:42Speaker 2: We definitely did quite a few cold, snowy themed movies.
- 6:47Speaker 4: I'm just trying to think back over. We are now
- 6:50Speaker 4: in our sixth year.
- 6:51Speaker 3: Yes, so.
- 6:54Speaker 4: New Year's I can only think of like the freaking
- 6:56Speaker 4: New Year's Resolution movie. I can't remember any other January movie.
- 7:01Speaker 4: I can't even remember a January movie from last year
- 7:05Speaker 4: two for the Wind. Those were all snowy movies. Snowy movie,
- 7:09Speaker 4: taking a Shot at Love, Taking a Shot.
- 7:11Speaker 3: At Love, a wintery ice skating movie.
- 7:14Speaker 4: What were last year's Janey I think they were They
- 7:17Speaker 4: were travel too, but I'm having visions of rhiannon fish
- 7:21Speaker 4: on a Oh yeah.
- 7:22Speaker 2: Polar it was Winter Escape. It was love of the
- 7:25Speaker 2: Irish polar opposites, my Argentine heart and the perfect setting.
- 7:30Speaker 4: It's sort of cobbled together as like a winter getaway.
- 7:34Speaker 3: And what is the theme this year? Winter escape Escape? Okay,
- 7:38Speaker 3: it's the same theme.
- 7:39Speaker 4: Well I'm into Look, I'm glad the holidays are over.
- 7:43Speaker 3: Send me to a tropical island.
- 7:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:45Speaker 3: I love Christmas, but honestly I was ready for I
- 7:47Speaker 3: mean this.
- 7:48Speaker 2: It felt fresh, it looked fresh. It was everything we
- 7:52Speaker 2: needed in a top of the year movie. If I
- 7:55Speaker 2: may quote Mailman Steve from our Facebook group, he says,
- 7:59Speaker 2: off the top my head, I cannot remember a first
- 8:01Speaker 2: movie after Christmas being so well done. We go back
- 8:05Speaker 2: to Taking a Shot at Love, which I do believe
- 8:07Speaker 2: was the first movie of twenty twenty one.
- 8:11Speaker 3: That was pretty well done.
- 8:12Speaker 2: But he says Lacy was her usual great self, but
- 8:14Speaker 2: Ian stole his show. His ability to deliver a comedic
- 8:18Speaker 2: line is fantastic. He was giving John Brotherton vibes from
- 8:21Speaker 2: following Yonder Star. I agree this was a strong kickoff
- 8:27Speaker 2: to the year.
- 8:28Speaker 3: I liked it a lot.
- 8:29Speaker 4: Can I tell you some things I liked please? I
- 8:32Speaker 4: was genuinely impressed how they handled the plane crash. You
- 8:37Speaker 4: know me, I don't like flying because I am scared
- 8:40Speaker 4: of plane crashes. And when they started to like, have
- 8:45Speaker 4: I don't distress, yeah, I was like, I don't want
- 8:48Speaker 4: to watch this. It made me feel like very anxious,
- 8:52Speaker 4: and I was like, well, good job by like the
- 8:55Speaker 4: movie makers here, the movie makers to make me feel
- 8:59Speaker 4: this way. And I don't know if that's just a
- 9:01Speaker 4: me thing because I have like such anxiety already as
- 9:04Speaker 4: it is.
- 9:05Speaker 3: Did you feel that way?
- 9:07Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 9:07Speaker 3: I don't really enjoy flying. But did that scene make
- 9:10Speaker 3: you feel nervous for them? Yeah?
- 9:12Speaker 2: Because I don't like any form of turbulence, So when
- 9:14Speaker 2: they're freaking out, yeah, take your seats.
- 9:17Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 9:17Speaker 3: It stressed me out.
- 9:19Speaker 4: The scene absolutely stressed me out. It was funny though,
- 9:22Speaker 4: because she was like, shouldn't you be doing something? And
- 9:25Speaker 4: I was like, protocols, but what really does the flight
- 9:29Speaker 4: attendant do?
- 9:30Speaker 3: You? They can't really do much when the plane is crashing.
- 9:33Speaker 4: Right, they're supposed to take cover as well.
- 9:36Speaker 3: But this is what I really liked.
- 9:38Speaker 4: I like that they didn't try to show some dramatic
- 9:41Speaker 4: crash landing, which would have been not well done, not
- 9:45Speaker 4: well done and they just cut straight to being marooned
- 9:49Speaker 4: on the island. I think that choice really worked here.
- 9:52Speaker 4: M hm, So I like that a lot.
- 9:54Speaker 3: I agree.
- 9:55Speaker 2: We mentioned Keith Nielsen in our news and notes. I thought, I,
- 10:00Speaker 2: I think I can share this. Keith reached out before
- 10:03Speaker 2: making this movie and he said, we have told him
- 10:06Speaker 2: before that we think it's very hard to do high
- 10:09Speaker 2: fashion on a Hallmark budget, and so he had kind
- 10:12Speaker 2: of said, you know, I hope this delivers for you
- 10:16Speaker 2: because we're critical about that. I thought he did a
- 10:20Speaker 2: really nice job of pulling this through. I wish you
- 10:25Speaker 2: were here because I would like to talk about was
- 10:28Speaker 2: he the one adjusting those fashions to give them the
- 10:33Speaker 2: ripped hems and the pulled together?
- 10:36Speaker 3: Who was handling all of that on the back end?
- 10:39Speaker 3: I'm sure with him. I really loved her plain outfit.
- 10:43Speaker 3: She's in that gold skirt.
- 10:45Speaker 4: I have a lot to talk about and to this
- 10:47Speaker 4: outfit me it gives Fisherman's net.
- 10:51Speaker 3: The skirt. Yes, that skirt.
- 10:53Speaker 4: I was like, how is it comfortable to sit on?
- 10:56Speaker 4: Though it didn't look comfortable to sit on at all,
- 10:59Speaker 4: but I thought it was She looked very nice. Do
- 11:01Speaker 4: you think they should have been like fishing with her skirt.
- 11:04Speaker 2: I honestly, when I can't remember what point outens, I
- 11:09Speaker 2: know one point he's like, we gotta rip up your
- 11:10Speaker 2: clothes to tie the But I think when they were
- 11:13Speaker 2: trying to figure out what to fish with, I genuinely
- 11:16Speaker 2: thought he was going to be like, he goes, we
- 11:17Speaker 2: need we need something, we need some some sort of
- 11:20Speaker 2: supplies to catch the foah.
- 11:22Speaker 3: He's like, we need something better than like a stick. Yeah.
- 11:26Speaker 3: Of course he goes and gets his chef knives.
- 11:27Speaker 4: But I thought, for a second, I'm like, is it
- 11:30Speaker 4: gonna be the skirt, because that would have been great?
- 11:31Speaker 3: Should have fish with a net? I almost messaged Keith
- 11:34Speaker 3: and asked him, but then I didn't want him to
- 11:36Speaker 3: take a fence because I mean it in a good way,
- 11:39Speaker 3: like it looks fisherman's net inspired to me. But I
- 11:42Speaker 3: really love the skirt.
- 11:44Speaker 4: We're gonna talk about it in my wishes, So just
- 11:45Speaker 4: put a pin in these outfits, yeah, and we will
- 11:49Speaker 4: talk about it and wishes. Okay, let's talk about the
- 11:53Speaker 4: characters of Sophia and Max.
- 11:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:57Speaker 4: I was fully embracing for them. No, I was fully
- 12:01Speaker 4: bracing for them to be enemies to lovers here. Yeah,
- 12:06Speaker 4: and instead we got two adults who are like kind
- 12:10Speaker 4: and respectful.
- 12:11Speaker 3: To each other. Let's make the most out of our
- 12:13Speaker 3: shipwreck situation.
- 12:14Speaker 4: Communicating Like I it was like a breath of fresh air.
- 12:19Speaker 3: Bantering bantering.
- 12:22Speaker 4: Their banter was so good it felt natural, realistic, not Cutesye,
- 12:28Speaker 4: like two people talking like humans.
- 12:30Speaker 3: Would loved it.
- 12:33Speaker 2: So when it comes to Ian and Lacy, great choice
- 12:35Speaker 2: to start off the year with them because they both
- 12:38Speaker 2: do the very best with everything they're given. So I
- 12:41Speaker 2: knew it was going to be an enjoyable experience, but
- 12:43Speaker 2: I actually thought this was while silly. It was silly
- 12:46Speaker 2: in a good way. It was silly in an escapist Yeah,
- 12:50Speaker 2: there's no real stakes here. I'm not worried about the
- 12:53Speaker 2: smoke monster on the island in loss, I'm not worried
- 12:57Speaker 2: about even with the pirates. Again in air quotes, there's
- 13:02Speaker 2: never any fear.
- 13:03Speaker 3: That anything's gonna happen.
- 13:04Speaker 2: They just get to kind of be silly and ridiculous,
- 13:06Speaker 2: and you know they're not going to start to death,
- 13:08Speaker 2: and they don't even really get sunburned while they're out there.
- 13:11Speaker 2: I was watching Survivor concurrently with this movie, so I
- 13:14Speaker 2: have like visions of being miserable on an island.
- 13:18Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't think you could hang Cairyl.
- 13:21Speaker 3: Oh no no, no, no, no no, no, absolutely could not.
- 13:24Speaker 3: Could not. I would just be like, take me down.
- 13:28Speaker 3: Couldn't do it.
- 13:29Speaker 2: I mean, if I had chef ee in there preparing
- 13:32Speaker 2: these beautiful meals.
- 13:34Speaker 3: Sure, perhaps, sure.
- 13:36Speaker 2: My point is they were going to be enjoyable no
- 13:39Speaker 2: matter what. But I thought they were exceptionally enjoyable. And
- 13:43Speaker 2: you and I are currently reviewing Ripple here on Girls
- 13:46Speaker 2: on Homwark on Wednesdays and watching this while watching Ian Harding,
- 13:50Speaker 2: and that the man has range.
- 13:52Speaker 3: I know, do you want to talk about my shirt
- 13:54Speaker 3: for a second only? I do you want to talk
- 13:56Speaker 3: about your shirt? Can you please explain the shirt I'm wearing?
- 14:00Speaker 3: Her hand you to see it again?
- 14:03Speaker 4: I mean, I just want to see it again. So
- 14:05Speaker 4: last week Wendy sends me a I got the weirdest
- 14:08Speaker 4: Christmas gift text.
- 14:10Speaker 3: All love to Wendy's husband. He thinks he's a real funny.
- 14:13Speaker 3: You've seen this shirt before. It is Ian Harding, many faces.
- 14:19Speaker 2: Of Ian Harding. I mean, it is a fans shirt.
- 14:23Speaker 2: It is a seeing Ian Harding in the wild. And
- 14:25Speaker 2: he turns and runs the other direction.
- 14:27Speaker 3: Kind of sure.
- 14:27Speaker 4: I'm a little embarrassed to even admit that I'm wearing it.
- 14:30Speaker 2: Right, she's wearing it under a sweatshirt, like she's not
- 14:32Speaker 2: in public with it. It's walking a line because we're
- 14:35Speaker 2: talking about it.
- 14:36Speaker 3: But I'm like, I should we take a picture with it?
- 14:37Speaker 3: Probably not right, Like wearing it is funny, but posting about.
- 14:41Speaker 4: It is a bridge too far, exactly, but it is
- 14:45Speaker 4: really funny. But the thing that makes me laugh is
- 14:48Speaker 4: how many times would you've had to mention this man?
- 14:50Speaker 4: Or was your husband just like I gotta come up
- 14:52Speaker 4: with a Christmas gift idea?
- 14:53Speaker 3: She said, Ian Harding.
- 14:54Speaker 4: And s that's probably what it was, because I was
- 14:59Speaker 4: talking Ian Harding up because because of Ripple and he
- 15:03Speaker 4: watches Ripple. To my husband watched Ripple and enjoyed it,
- 15:07Speaker 4: So I think he just thought, oh, my wife's a
- 15:11Speaker 4: super fan. But you know I'm not a stalker fan. No,
- 15:16Speaker 4: I think it's funny. It's like I wanted his work totally,
- 15:19Speaker 4: and I wanted to wear it here today because it's
- 15:21Speaker 4: like we're doing two een Harding projects. Yes so, but
- 15:27Speaker 4: otherwise it's never gonna see the light of day. It's
- 15:29Speaker 4: gonna be like a pajama shirt. Can I talk about
- 15:33Speaker 4: one scene that I really liked and it and it
- 15:35Speaker 4: kind of was a short little scene, but it was
- 15:38Speaker 4: right after they land on the beach and Max is
- 15:43Speaker 4: basically ragging on Lacey's character for being an overpacker, and
- 15:49Speaker 4: I love.
- 15:50Speaker 3: That she just like shut his shit.
- 15:52Speaker 4: Down and was like.
- 15:55Speaker 3: Didn't apologize for like who.
- 15:57Speaker 4: She was, Like she didn't need to be humbled. Like
- 16:00Speaker 4: this is just a great character moment. I thought, like
- 16:03Speaker 4: she's still a boss, Like he wasn't going to like
- 16:05Speaker 4: make fun of her for her job or what she
- 16:08Speaker 4: was into or whatever. It was so quite powerful scene.
- 16:13Speaker 4: I thought, Yeah, I'm pausing because my next leg is
- 16:16Speaker 4: the dog. Okay, I love Gianni the dog. I guess
- 16:20Speaker 4: I have lots of questions, but it's in my Did
- 16:23Speaker 4: you see that about the dog? I mean like he
- 16:25Speaker 4: would conveniently disappear in moments that stressed me out, but
- 16:30Speaker 4: he was there enough to make me think, Yeah, if
- 16:34Speaker 4: I'm shipwrecked, I really would like my puppy with me,
- 16:36Speaker 4: Like I would like my dog to be sleeping with
- 16:38Speaker 4: me in my makeshift beach tent. It feels realistic that
- 16:41Speaker 4: a person would bring their dog with them on this trip.
- 16:45Speaker 3: Right.
- 16:46Speaker 4: But now with that being said, are there rules here
- 16:50Speaker 4: like international?
- 16:52Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 16:52Speaker 4: Do you have to like quarantine animals sometimes? You know,
- 16:55Speaker 4: you have traveled with her cats.
- 16:56Speaker 3: So I don't know. I don't know how all of
- 16:58Speaker 3: that worked. I thought he was an adorable dog. Yeah,
- 17:02Speaker 3: you're into like the small, white, fluffy dog. I mean,
- 17:05Speaker 3: I like a small dog. I like a lapdog. What
- 17:07Speaker 3: can I say?
- 17:07Speaker 2: Yeah, he was a particular q one and the fact
- 17:09Speaker 2: that he was named Gianny.
- 17:10Speaker 3: I really appreciated that.
- 17:12Speaker 4: Yeah, that's a nice nod to the fashion world.
- 17:14Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 17:15Speaker 4: I liked the pirate's twist actually for me, you know,
- 17:20Speaker 4: it's kind of a fine line of like, okay, ha,
- 17:22Speaker 4: how HYJIINXY are we going to write here? I believe
- 17:26Speaker 4: that they were pirates, so did I. And then when
- 17:30Speaker 4: it turns out they are part of like a resort
- 17:33Speaker 4: cosplay situation.
- 17:34Speaker 3: I like that even more. Thought that was very clever.
- 17:39Speaker 4: I also enjoyed the twist that they were on an
- 17:42Speaker 4: inhabited island this whole time, did you I did?
- 17:47Speaker 3: I thought it was really funny. I think it's funny cue,
- 17:50Speaker 3: but is it realistic?
- 17:52Speaker 2: That they didn't realize, Like they climbed to the top
- 17:54Speaker 2: of this island and they didn't realize there was.
- 17:56Speaker 3: Could they not see like a beautiful resort. I don't know. Yeah,
- 18:00Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 18:00Speaker 4: When the helicopter is landing on the golf course, I
- 18:05Speaker 4: just thought that was so funny. He's like, oh, yeah,
- 18:07Speaker 4: this is a yeah.
- 18:08Speaker 3: I'm running out. Yeah, hilarious. It is pretty funny. Look,
- 18:12Speaker 3: I laughed. I enjoyed it.
- 18:14Speaker 4: I was thoroughly entertained. I have a couple more likes. Yeah,
- 18:19Speaker 4: good kisses, really good kisses. Yeah. And you know, sometimes
- 18:24Speaker 4: I find Lacey to be like real, prim and proper.
- 18:28Speaker 3: Yeah. I liked her so much in this.
- 18:31Speaker 4: I really liked her and haul out the Halloween too,
- 18:34Speaker 4: like where she really leans into like the comedy stuff,
- 18:37Speaker 4: and she did it with this movie too, And I
- 18:41Speaker 4: think back to she's making a list.
- 18:42Speaker 3: She was good in that.
- 18:44Speaker 4: She's a solid actress obviously, but I like when she
- 18:47Speaker 4: leans more comedy too.
- 18:49Speaker 3: I think it suits her. I find it more believable.
- 18:52Speaker 2: That kiss at the end where they have that kiss
- 18:54Speaker 2: and he's like about that funding like when they're like talking,
- 18:57Speaker 2: there's mouths.
- 18:58Speaker 3: It's real cute, and she just yeah, I liked it
- 19:02Speaker 3: a lot.
- 19:02Speaker 4: My two final things, I was pleasantly surprised at the rescue.
- 19:07Speaker 4: Wasn't the end of the movie that we still had
- 19:09Speaker 4: a little bit of time to like work through their story, huh.
- 19:14Speaker 4: I appreciated that. And also I just wanted to note
- 19:18Speaker 4: I thought the real filming conditions looked a little rough,
- 19:22Speaker 4: like when they were on the beach, it's windy, it's loud.
- 19:27Speaker 4: It felt very authentic, and I was like, this could
- 19:30Speaker 4: not have been a super easy shoot. Hmmm, just because
- 19:34Speaker 4: like you're dealing with the element, you're dealing with so
- 19:36Speaker 4: many elements.
- 19:39Speaker 3: Let us know what it was really like being on Fiji.
- 19:42Speaker 4: Then I wondered as I was watching this, because don't
- 19:44Speaker 4: they they filmed Survivor on Fiji?
- 19:47Speaker 3: Right? And Love Island? Yes?
- 19:50Speaker 4: Could can you hear these productions happening? I know there
- 19:54Speaker 4: are stories that like Love Island and Survivor. Can hear
- 19:57Speaker 4: each other's productions happening on the island land?
- 20:00Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 20:01Speaker 4: Can the movie if they're making this movie, can either
- 20:05Speaker 4: like we're either of those productions happening?
- 20:08Speaker 3: Curious?
- 20:09Speaker 4: This is an archipelago of over three hundred and thirty
- 20:11Speaker 4: islands and oh okay, so it's not just like one
- 20:15Speaker 4: actual island that they're all working on.
- 20:18Speaker 2: One hundred and ten of these islands are permanently inhabited,
- 20:22Speaker 2: with most of the population living on the two main islands,
- 20:25Speaker 2: Vitu Levu and Vanua Levu.
- 20:27Speaker 3: Got it. So there's room to groove here, got it?
- 20:31Speaker 3: Got it? Do you have any other likes? Let's tuck wishes.
- 20:35Speaker 4: Here is where I want to talk about, circling back
- 20:38Speaker 4: to the outfits. Yeah, let's talk about plane crashes. Everyone
- 20:45Speaker 4: crashes into the ocean. They're somehow perfectly looking dry and
- 20:51Speaker 4: clean and styled.
- 20:53Speaker 3: Yep, on the sand, Yeah, they still.
- 20:56Speaker 4: Look pretty good. They don't look like soaking wet. Did
- 20:58Speaker 4: they float in like.
- 20:59Speaker 3: On the raft you tell me? I don't know.
- 21:02Speaker 2: Yeah, that part I was like, wait a minute, because
- 21:04Speaker 2: we cut from the crash mid crash in air still
- 21:09Speaker 2: to her being asleep on the beach, right, So that's yeah,
- 21:13Speaker 2: there's a little bit of like, are we to assume
- 21:16Speaker 2: because she's in their little life raft sleeping, so are
- 21:19Speaker 2: we to assume.
- 21:19Speaker 3: They crashed in such a way that they were able
- 21:21Speaker 3: to deploy the raft?
- 21:24Speaker 4: But the the plane itself is at the bottom of
- 21:26Speaker 4: the sea. Yeah, lazy as Sophia is wearing high heels
- 21:32Speaker 4: still on the sand. On the sand, it's a block hill,
- 21:37Speaker 4: but it's still.
- 21:39Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm like, take your shoes off.
- 21:42Speaker 4: If you're okay, we'll talk me through this. If you're
- 21:45Speaker 4: if you crash land, right, do not slip your heels
- 21:48Speaker 4: off before you before you try.
- 21:50Speaker 3: To swim or run or.
- 21:53Speaker 4: Because it's not like they jumped out of the airplane
- 21:56Speaker 4: in the raft, right.
- 21:57Speaker 3: I don't know how that works. I don't know.
- 22:00Speaker 4: She should have been barefoot in this scene.
- 22:02Speaker 3: Yeah, that is all I'm saying.
- 22:04Speaker 4: And like her perfectly, you know, fitted skirt, everything is.
- 22:08Speaker 4: She's wearing a cream color fitted top. Nothing's like disheveled nothing. No,
- 22:13Speaker 4: I would look like Albert Einstein coming out of the ocean.
- 22:16Speaker 3: Scar running face.
- 22:18Speaker 4: She still got like a lip and an eyeliner and
- 22:20Speaker 4: all this stuff that Ian's character. He's perfectly their shirts
- 22:27Speaker 4: a little bit.
- 22:28Speaker 3: Yeah, then look a little real pilots.
- 22:29Speaker 4: No, nobody has like burn marks on their face or
- 22:32Speaker 4: like no.
- 22:33Speaker 3: Nothing nothing, that's all. Give me, give me a little
- 22:38Speaker 3: bit of it.
- 22:39Speaker 4: We've all seen lost, we've all seen soley, we've all
- 22:42Speaker 4: seen some TV mini series of a Yeah, and solely
- 22:47Speaker 4: landed this point didn't land, it crashed, right, And I
- 22:50Speaker 4: just watched the river and those people are dirty. Right,
- 22:54Speaker 4: let's talk about the airport green screen Wolf. I don't understand.
- 22:59Speaker 4: I loved production company.
- 23:01Speaker 3: It's synthetic cinema. Synthetic cinemas. They make great movies, but.
- 23:05Speaker 4: For some reasons sometimes their green screen stuff is not great.
- 23:10Speaker 2: Yeah, And I wonder what the discussion there is because
- 23:14Speaker 2: I'm thinking of a Newport Christmas. Right is the discussion, Well,
- 23:19Speaker 2: we need to have this scene and we don't have
- 23:21Speaker 2: access to a location, so we're gonna have to see
- 23:23Speaker 2: gi green screen whatever. I mean, it's got to come
- 23:26Speaker 2: down to budget. Right, It's cheaper to do it, I'm
- 23:28Speaker 2: sure than doing it on location, which I'm sure that's
- 23:31Speaker 2: the only reason. Right, it just comes down to budget. Yeah,
- 23:33Speaker 2: it takes me out of the moment, you know, my
- 23:36Speaker 2: wish just say lol to shark.
- 23:38Speaker 4: I mean, what in the shark scene was that like,
- 23:45Speaker 4: let's just be nuanced about it. Show me a fin
- 23:48Speaker 4: out the out of the water, but going underwater and
- 23:51Speaker 4: showing the shark charging at you.
- 23:53Speaker 3: I was like, what's what is?
- 23:54Speaker 4: What are we doing does sharks had like two baby
- 23:57Speaker 4: sharks with it? Did you notice that I was too
- 24:01Speaker 4: busy laughing, Like the the fin would have been enough.
- 24:04Speaker 3: But when they do the underwater shot of the shark,
- 24:07Speaker 3: like I was like, come on, so that would be good.
- 24:10Speaker 3: They didn't need that. Just show us a fin. That's
- 24:13Speaker 3: scary enough, because I feel like the fin.
- 24:15Speaker 2: If they had just showed the fin, it could have
- 24:17Speaker 2: been anything. It could have been like they imagined the fin.
- 24:19Speaker 2: It could have been a dolphin fin. It could have
- 24:21Speaker 2: been a total number of things that they ran out
- 24:24Speaker 2: of the water. But to do to double down on
- 24:27Speaker 2: it being a great white shark in this moment, it
- 24:30Speaker 2: just felt silly. And then they're like, oh no, that
- 24:33Speaker 2: was a little bit scary.
- 24:34Speaker 4: Yeah, I love the idea of it being like a
- 24:36Speaker 4: dolphin instead.
- 24:37Speaker 3: Yeah, just leave some question out there about what's going on.
- 24:41Speaker 3: One hundred percent.
- 24:42Speaker 4: My next wish is the palm frond woven hats.
- 24:46Speaker 3: I mean they were beautiful. I have questions about who
- 24:50Speaker 3: did those. I'm dying. I'm like, did Keith Nielsen make these?
- 24:54Speaker 2: Like, well, did they employ a Fijian? I mean, even
- 24:57Speaker 2: imagine that there's like a tourist trap in town where
- 24:59Speaker 2: there's so these things.
- 25:00Speaker 4: Yeah, well, poor Ian look like Gill again when he
- 25:03Speaker 4: put his on, and then Lazy's didn't fit her head.
- 25:06Speaker 4: And kudos to making those because I saw them using
- 25:12Speaker 4: a similar.
- 25:13Speaker 3: For bowls and plates too. Yeah. They their hut was
- 25:17Speaker 3: quite nice too, I know.
- 25:19Speaker 4: But I just was like, that's so interesting, Like I
- 25:22Speaker 4: wonder where these hats actually came from. The chase scenes
- 25:27Speaker 4: felt a little too choreographed to me, so fun not
- 25:32Speaker 4: super realistic, especially when they're on the like jet, the
- 25:37Speaker 4: seed wave jet what are those called.
- 25:40Speaker 3: Yeah, it went on forever to that scene.
- 25:42Speaker 1: You know, they're like.
- 25:42Speaker 4: Having a full conversation, like it was funny, Like it
- 25:47Speaker 4: wasn't enough to be like this is ridiculous. It was
- 25:50Speaker 4: funny for me, but she's like, hold on, I'm gonna
- 25:53Speaker 4: lose them. I'm like, you're on the ocean, You're not
- 25:56Speaker 4: gonna lose I know.
- 25:57Speaker 3: I know. I did enjoy it.
- 25:59Speaker 4: It's all like a this is this is all a
- 26:02Speaker 4: whiff of a wish list.
- 26:03Speaker 3: I totally it was fun and silly.
- 26:05Speaker 4: My final wishes and you had talked about ripple. I
- 26:09Speaker 4: had a hard time separating Ian Harding as Nate on
- 26:14Speaker 4: Ripple and being Max in this movie too, because I'm like,
- 26:19Speaker 4: your life is hard, Nate, you have a lot going on, right, yeah, right, yeah,
- 26:26Speaker 4: that's an US thing. That is an US thing. Do
- 26:29Speaker 4: you have any wishes? No that I didn't cover We
- 26:32Speaker 4: covered them all.
- 26:32Speaker 3: Let's talk to you to see that.
- 26:34Speaker 4: I loved these Survivor shout out, yeah, did you catch it?
- 26:38Speaker 3: Did?
- 26:38Speaker 4: As I'm watching this when he's like, we got to
- 26:40Speaker 4: build shelter, I was like, yeah, any boso who's watched
- 26:42Speaker 4: Survivor knows you got it.
- 26:44Speaker 3: Fire and shelter are your two number ones.
- 26:46Speaker 4: And then he's like, I've watched enough Survivor.
- 26:48Speaker 3: I was like, yes, I feel seen. I loved it.
- 26:53Speaker 3: I loved it.
- 26:54Speaker 4: This might have been a me thing. But at one
- 26:56Speaker 4: point the captions, because I watch with captions, yes it's
- 27:02Speaker 4: she's Lacey's character is talking about her Loue Batons, her shoes. Yes,
- 27:06Speaker 4: I saw this and it said Louis Baton on TV.
- 27:10Speaker 3: How crazy you saw it too?
- 27:11Speaker 4: I notice that that is so funny, And I just figured,
- 27:14Speaker 4: like the person who's ever writing the like closed caption
- 27:17Speaker 4: was like close enough, yep, I want to talk about
- 27:20Speaker 4: the dog.
- 27:21Speaker 3: Yeah, you know such a dog lover. Yeah, and they
- 27:25Speaker 3: hop on that seed and leave them behind. Well, that's
- 27:28Speaker 3: one of my biggest what is the dog eating?
- 27:30Speaker 4: Oh no, no, no, they addressed that because when when
- 27:34Speaker 4: when the Hallmark Comsworth was like, don't worry, we have provisions,
- 27:37Speaker 4: she's like oh and she runs over.
- 27:39Speaker 3: And she's like, oh, I have Gianni's food will be good.
- 27:41Speaker 3: Oh okay. So they did address that, okay, but then
- 27:44Speaker 3: they just let him run off into the well.
- 27:47Speaker 2: That worried me as a person who has never been
- 27:50Speaker 2: comfortable with an awf leash dog.
- 27:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 27:52Speaker 3: But also when they escape on the sea doo, she
- 27:56Speaker 3: doesn't even for a moment go oh no Gianni.
- 27:58Speaker 4: Like we haven't we have he lost in that moment
- 28:01Speaker 4: and she leaving him behind. I know because when I
- 28:05Speaker 4: was when they hop on that CD, I wasn't thinking
- 28:07Speaker 4: they're just gonna circle around to another part of the island.
- 28:09Speaker 3: I was thinking they were going to escape.
- 28:12Speaker 4: They were gonna hit some other island, go for somewhere.
- 28:16Speaker 2: Yeah, circling back on an island seems like a bad
- 28:19Speaker 2: idea when you're trying to get.
- 28:20Speaker 3: Away from the pirates, right, She's just like every man
- 28:23Speaker 3: for himself. Then, I'll look out for number one.
- 28:25Speaker 4: You know, and Ian's character is like, Oh, he's out
- 28:27Speaker 4: living his best life. I was like, what this is
- 28:30Speaker 4: a this is a dog that doesn't know how to
- 28:33Speaker 4: fin for himself out in the wild.
- 28:34Speaker 2: Can you imagine Bailey on an island. No, he would
- 28:37Speaker 2: be snake food.
- 28:38Speaker 4: Snake food, You're right, Oh, can we talk about the
- 28:42Speaker 4: snake for a second.
- 28:44Speaker 3: Yeah? Was that cgi?
- 28:45Speaker 4: Oh?
- 28:46Speaker 3: I don't know. It looked good to me. It looked
- 28:47Speaker 3: that looked good to me. Yeah, that looked good to
- 28:50Speaker 3: me too. I ll close to Ian Harding's face when
- 28:52Speaker 3: he turned around. Thank you, no, thank.
- 28:54Speaker 4: You my final Did you see that? And we talked
- 28:57Speaker 4: about it briefly. I did the water scenes we're gonna
- 29:02Speaker 4: reference to a New Pork Christmas again. The water scenes
- 29:04Speaker 4: in that movie were not good, Like when they were
- 29:07Speaker 4: in the boat. I remembering specifically of like the pilot
- 29:11Speaker 4: and the co pilot out that looked real when they're
- 29:14Speaker 4: in the raft and they're trying.
- 29:15Speaker 3: To have Oh.
- 29:16Speaker 2: I thought it looked a little light. Oh really, But
- 29:19Speaker 2: then I wondered, I was like, where would Baby filming this?
- 29:21Speaker 2: If not in the actual water in some resort pool,
- 29:26Speaker 2: I guess out of dark.
- 29:28Speaker 3: I thought it looked good. Yeah, I thought that looked good.
- 29:31Speaker 2: I thought this is growth from a Newport grass. We
- 29:34Speaker 2: all nice, right before they go spearfishing. From one angle
- 29:37Speaker 2: the knife late is facing towards Lacy's face, and from
- 29:39Speaker 2: the other angle it's facing away. Oh really, she's holding
- 29:41Speaker 2: her spear on the ground. And then we talked about
- 29:44Speaker 2: a few of my other ones. But her friend and
- 29:46Speaker 2: assistant who I believe her name is Miranda. Mm mmmm
- 29:51Speaker 2: oh that's funny. Oh yeah, that is funny.
- 29:53Speaker 4: She has a kim Matula vibe to her in some lights,
- 29:56Speaker 4: like just like a brief like, oh that looks no,
- 29:58Speaker 4: it doesn't. Oh like I just my brain going, oh
- 30:00Speaker 4: that looks like but it doesn't.
- 30:02Speaker 3: That's all. What did you rate last in Paradise?
- 30:04Speaker 4: I gave you four stars to great start.
