Latest / The Mark Simone Show / Hour 3: Taylor Swift's new song.
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Live from the WOR LifeVac studios, the Mark Simone Show.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Well, hey, it's cold out. If you haven't been out yet,
- 0:10Speaker 2: it's cold. You need an overcoat. You see President Trump
- 0:13Speaker 2: on the airport tarmac there greeting Xi, wearing the big
- 0:18Speaker 2: winter overcoat, the cashmere overcoat and gloves. It's cold out.
- 0:23Speaker 2: Got big rainstorm. It mostly will be Saturday into a
- 0:27Speaker 2: little bit into Sunday. It'll be maybe not that bad
- 0:31Speaker 2: in the city. East of the city is where it
- 0:33Speaker 2: could be heavy rain. Netanyahu speaks at the UN today.
- 0:37Speaker 2: That's going to be a traffic and security nightmare. He's
- 0:42Speaker 2: expected to really let everybody have it, tell off everybody.
- 0:47Speaker 2: It'll be a great moment. He'll expose the terrible, well,
- 0:52Speaker 2: not expose, but really go after the anti-Semites, Mamdani and company.
- 0:59Speaker 2: the president banned, they say he banned the press from
- 1:02Speaker 2: the White House. He didn't ban the press. He banned
- 1:04Speaker 2: MSNOW and CNN. I don't know if you even call
- 1:07Speaker 2: them news networks. And Politico, it's not a news site.
- 1:12Speaker 2: These are political advocacy sites, left-wing advocacy sites, which is fine,
- 1:17Speaker 2: but they're not, it's not the, all of the press
- 1:19Speaker 2: still allowed in the White House. So they went to
- 1:22Speaker 2: a court, a DC left-wing judge. They love to tell you,
- 1:26Speaker 2: It's a Trump-appointed judge. Trump had nothing to do with
- 1:29Speaker 2: picking the judge. Judges are always picked by the senators
- 1:33Speaker 2: or the congressmen or locals. And the president approves it.
- 1:36Speaker 2: Very rarely does the president actually look for his own pick.
- 1:41Speaker 2: So he didn't know the judge when he appointed him.
- 1:42Speaker 2: And that's always the case with every president. But the
- 1:45Speaker 2: judge ruled you can't ban the press. It has to
- 1:48Speaker 2: go to trial. But he put in a 14-day hold
- 1:52Speaker 2: on the ban. So you can't ban them for 14 days.
- 1:55Speaker 2: So they showed up today and they were banned again.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Here's Brit Hume. Brit Hume is a very important voice
- 2:04Speaker 2: to listen to. The guy's brilliant. Old Washington hand. He
- 2:09Speaker 2: knows his stuff. But he said, the White House has
- 2:11Speaker 2: generally avoided defying court orders, but it appears to have
- 2:15Speaker 2: done just that this morning. Well, it's a little tiny matter.
- 2:19Speaker 2: It's not like he banned the press. He just banned
- 2:21Speaker 2: these couple of kooky left-wing outfits. And he is defying
- 2:26Speaker 2: a court order. You're not supposed to do that. But
- 2:29Speaker 2: what's the judge going to do about it? What's he
- 2:31Speaker 2: going to do? Well, they could serve him with a
- 2:36Speaker 2: subpoena or something like that. Hold him in contempt. Good.
- 2:41Speaker 2: Try it. See how that works out for you. You
- 2:44Speaker 2: can't even get into the White House grounds. How are
- 2:47Speaker 2: you going to enforce it? So this will be an
- 2:49Speaker 2: interesting battle to watch. And we told you yesterday, Taylor
- 2:52Speaker 2: Swift put out a new single. She knows how to
- 2:55Speaker 2: create a whole buzz about anything, whether it's a wedding,
- 2:58Speaker 2: whether it's a... So the new single had everybody talking,
- 3:01Speaker 2: breathlessly waiting to hear it. Not much of a melody,
- 3:05Speaker 2: but a great, great song. Don't know what the hell
- 3:08Speaker 2: she's singing, but I'm sure as long as she knows,
- 3:11Speaker 2: it's fine. So it's Taylor Swift. Millions will be downloading
- 3:14Speaker 2: it as we speak. All right, so we'll see. President Xi...
- 3:20Speaker 2: is here for a whole day with Donald Trump. Boy,
- 3:23Speaker 2: you look at the schedule. There's a gift exchanging ceremony.
- 3:28Speaker 2: This is the thing. You have to give the Chinese
- 3:30Speaker 2: a gift. They have to give you a gift. I'm
- 3:33Speaker 2: sure it's not going to be anything too exciting, either gift.
- 3:36Speaker 2: And then they have all sorts of meetings. Where's the
- 3:40Speaker 2: president's schedule? Here it is. 10 a.m., greet the president.
- 3:45Speaker 2: He was greeted yesterday at the tarmac. Now he comes
- 3:48Speaker 2: to the White House. And in the South Portico, you
- 3:52Speaker 2: have a greeting ceremony. Then Melania has to meet with
- 3:58Speaker 2: Madame Ping, his wife. Have you seen her? Does not
- 4:02Speaker 2: look like a lot of fun, this woman. Does not
- 4:06Speaker 2: look like a lot of fun to be with. Then
- 4:09Speaker 2: a 1010, a rival ceremony with 1015. They will make remarks. Luckily,
- 4:17Speaker 2: this is all behind us now. Oh, 1030.
- 4:19Speaker 3: 1030.
- 4:20Speaker 2: The President and First Lady participate in a gift exchange
- 4:24Speaker 2: with them in the Blue Room. Then they move back
- 4:27Speaker 2: to the South Portico at 1040. The President and First
- 4:31Speaker 2: Lady participate in silent drill platoon review. Who wants to
- 4:37Speaker 2: do this all day? It doesn't sound like a lot
- 4:40Speaker 2: of fun. 11 o'clock, they participate in a military review.
- 4:44Speaker 2: Who wants to do this all day? They sit there
- 4:50Speaker 2: and they watch the military come. What are we doing?
- 4:51Speaker 2: Showing off for China? They know we got a military.
- 4:55Speaker 2: Take a look at Iran. You could see what we
- 4:57Speaker 2: can do. Ah, here we go.
- 4:59Speaker 4: 1130.
- 5:00Speaker 2: That's coming up. The president participates in a bilateral meeting
- 5:05Speaker 2: with Xing in the Oval Office with Xi, Xi Jinping.
- 5:11Speaker 2: Closed press. A bilateral meeting. It looks like the bilateral
- 5:14Speaker 2: meeting is a half hour on the schedule. That's good.
- 5:20Speaker 2: Even for a half hour, you've seen this President Xi.
- 5:22Speaker 2: What the hell would you talk to him about for
- 5:24Speaker 2: a half hour? You could talk about AI. You could
- 5:26Speaker 2: try to come to an agreement. Now, the one thing
- 5:28Speaker 2: they do want to talk about is it's believed that
- 5:31Speaker 2: China is supplying Iran with money, with cash, with weapons,
- 5:36Speaker 2: keeping them going. You want to get them to stop
- 5:38Speaker 2: doing that. That's the main topic. The second topic might
- 5:42Speaker 2: be AI guidelines and restraints. But as everybody knows, Whatever
- 5:48Speaker 2: is agreed to in the meeting is never going to happen.
- 5:51Speaker 2: You could get Xi to promise not to keep supplying Iran,
- 5:55Speaker 2: not to give them weapons. You could make an agreement.
- 5:58Speaker 2: You could sign an agreement. You could have 20 people
- 6:00Speaker 2: sign it. You could sign 10 more agreements. And he's
- 6:02Speaker 2: not going to stick to it. That's the history of
- 6:04Speaker 2: China and Iran and Russia. They never stick to an agreement.
- 6:08Speaker 2: So what is the point of this? And also, I
- 6:11Speaker 2: don't know if you realize, but Xi is very weak.
- 6:15Speaker 2: In China. It's not certain that he will continue as
- 6:18Speaker 2: the leader of China. A lot of people think he
- 6:22Speaker 2: should be removed. He's in a weak position right now there.
- 6:25Speaker 2: So he has to be very careful. He can't show
- 6:30Speaker 2: any weakness with the President of the United States. Okay,
- 6:34Speaker 2: then they participate. Oh, look at this. A cultural visit
- 6:40Speaker 2: to the Smithsonian National Museum of Art. Oh, excuse me.
- 6:44Speaker 2: It's one wing. It's the Asian art.
- 6:47Speaker 5: All right.
- 6:47Speaker 2: If I told you right now you're going to go
- 6:49Speaker 2: spend the day at the Smithsonian in the Asian art wing,
- 6:54Speaker 2: it doesn't sound like a lot of fun. If I
- 6:56Speaker 2: said to you, you've got to take Xi Jinping and Mrs.
- 6:59Speaker 2: Ping and show them around, this doesn't sound like a
- 7:02Speaker 2: great day. Then at 3.30, they have a policy meeting
- 7:05Speaker 2: without Xi Jinping. He goes back to his hotel or something.
- 7:09Speaker 2: Thank God. You get away from this guy for two hours. Oh,
- 7:14Speaker 2: then at 7.55 is the state dinner in the East
- 7:19Speaker 2: Room of the White House, President and the First Lady.
- 7:21Speaker 2: Big state dinner. They've invited all the tech CEOs, the
- 7:25Speaker 2: Mark Zuckerbergs, the head of Apple, the head of the
- 7:28Speaker 2: AI companies. They'll all be there. Mr. and Mrs. Ping
- 7:33Speaker 2: will be there. They get to take a picture with them.
- 7:38Speaker 2: Let's say you had a picture with Xi Jinping. What
- 7:40Speaker 2: are you going to do with it? Are you going
- 7:41Speaker 2: to show that to people? What are you going to
- 7:43Speaker 2: do with that? Put that on your Instagram? Here's me
- 7:45Speaker 2: and Xi Jinping. Not that exciting. So then he'll leave
- 7:51Speaker 2: later tonight and I'll get rid of this guy for
- 7:53Speaker 2: a while. UN week, by the way, will drop down
- 7:58Speaker 2: a little. Netanyahu's speaking today. That's a big thing. Big
- 8:02Speaker 2: security traffic nightmare. And then tomorrow it'll ease up slightly.
- 8:08Speaker 2: And then this thing continues next week, but without the
- 8:11Speaker 2: world leaders. So once the world leaders leave, you won't
- 8:14Speaker 2: have the traffic problems. So it'll be a little less
- 8:18Speaker 2: tomorrow and Friday. And then over the weekend, these world
- 8:20Speaker 2: leaders will start leaving. Now, many of them might stay
- 8:23Speaker 2: for a couple of days because they got Broadway shows.
- 8:26Speaker 2: They got shopping. They go to restaurants. There's a couple
- 8:29Speaker 2: of hookers they didn't get to. This is what goes
- 8:31Speaker 2: on over the weekend. Then Monday should be much easier.
- 8:35Speaker 2: Next week should be much easier. Still be UN activity,
- 8:38Speaker 2: but not these world leaders. And that will help a lot.
- 8:43Speaker 2: As I mentioned, Prince Harry is here. Whenever they do
- 8:46Speaker 2: this UN General Assembly week, they do the Clinton Global Initiative,
- 8:51Speaker 2: which is a big shakedown of donors. They get every
- 8:55Speaker 2: big star-struck donor to give them a ton of money.
- 8:58Speaker 2: And they have seminars and panels and meet and greets with,
- 9:01Speaker 2: they try to get famous people there. The big name
- 9:04Speaker 2: this week is Prince Harry. Prince Harry is there to
- 9:09Speaker 2: speak about the dangers of social media. He's going to
- 9:13Speaker 2: talk about social media affecting our kids. Now, who the
- 9:17Speaker 2: hell is this guy to talk about it when he's
- 9:19Speaker 2: got a wife that that's all she does all day
- 9:21Speaker 2: is put stuff up on Instagram. That's all these two
- 9:24Speaker 2: do for a living is put up social media stuff.
- 9:27Speaker 2: I don't know who the hell they are to bother
- 9:30Speaker 2: anybody about this. The Iranian president spoke yesterday, of course,
- 9:34Speaker 2: calling us all kinds of names and He looked terrified.
- 9:39Speaker 2: The Iranian president, he's currently the president of Iran, but
- 9:42Speaker 2: you know, this is Iran. They could take you out
- 9:44Speaker 2: and execute you at any moment. He looked so panicky.
- 9:48Speaker 2: He looked so frightened when he was speaking. Because if
- 9:50Speaker 2: it's like one wrong word from this guy, you know,
- 9:53Speaker 2: they're going to execute him as soon as he gets back.
- 9:56Speaker 2: He's the president of Iran, but no life in company
- 10:00Speaker 2: would handle this guy right now. In fact, he had
- 10:02Speaker 2: life insurance. They even asked for their calendar back. You
- 10:06Speaker 2: know who's negotiating with Gaza and all of that is
- 10:12Speaker 2: Jared Kushner. You ever heard Jared Kushner speak? Take a listen.
- 10:15Speaker 3: We want to have a Gaza Strip that could thrive
- 10:17Speaker 3: and reach its full potential. In order for that to happen,
- 10:19Speaker 3: it must be fully demilitarized in that regard, meaning that
- 10:23Speaker 3: Hamas has agreed to give up the weapons, but we
- 10:25Speaker 3: need to implement that.
- 10:27Speaker 2: Does he sound a little annoying? I don't know. Do
- 10:33Speaker 2: you want to listen to this guy for a whole
- 10:34Speaker 2: hour in a meeting?
- 10:34Speaker 3: We're building something that is really a platform to enable
- 10:38Speaker 3: the Palestinian people in Gaza to finally focus on improving
- 10:42Speaker 3: their livelihoods and improving their lives and for those who
- 10:45Speaker 3: want to live in peace to give them a chance
- 10:47Speaker 3: to do so.
- 10:48Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 10:49Speaker 2: Now, these old Washington hands or the Democrats or the
- 10:52Speaker 2: old congressmen, they'll say, well, he should not have Jared
- 10:55Speaker 2: Kushner and Steve Witkoff. This should be a professional State Department,
- 11:00Speaker 2: professional foreign policy people. They should be doing the negotiating. Well,
- 11:05Speaker 2: they're not that effective, those guys. You know, they got
- 11:08Speaker 2: briefing books and they look effective. The most important thing
- 11:13Speaker 2: taught to Trump when he first ran, first big meeting
- 11:16Speaker 2: was Henry Kissinger. And there's nobody knows this stuff better.
- 11:19Speaker 2: And he said, the one thing Kissinger told him is
- 11:21Speaker 2: when it comes to foreign policy, don't let the State
- 11:24Speaker 2: Department handle it. And when it comes to this stuff,
- 11:27Speaker 2: don't listen to these idiots with their briefing books. Don't
- 11:31Speaker 2: let them negotiate. And he said, do it yourself. So
- 11:35Speaker 2: that's what that's all about. And Kissinger's right. Look at
- 11:38Speaker 2: all the professional negotiators and diplomats and State Department foreign
- 11:43Speaker 2: policy experts. For all their years of these negotiations, Nothing
- 11:47Speaker 2: ever changed. Nothing ever got settled. Nothing. It never made
- 11:51Speaker 2: any difference. Now, the other thing is, does it matter
- 11:54Speaker 2: who's negotiating? No matter what agreement you make with China,
- 11:58Speaker 2: no matter what agreement you make with Palestinians, no matter
- 12:01Speaker 2: what agreement you make with Iran, nobody sticks to it ever.
- 12:06Speaker 2: There's never been one single case where they've ever stuck
- 12:09Speaker 2: to any of these agreements. So what's the difference whether
- 12:13Speaker 2: you come up with? You know, a lot of people,
- 12:16Speaker 2: they got rid of cable. They used to call it
- 12:19Speaker 2: cut the cord, cutting the cord. The cable bill was crazy.
- 12:23Speaker 2: It was $ 200, $ 300. You'd pay a fortune for your
- 12:25Speaker 2: cable TV. So a lot of people cut the cord.
- 12:28Speaker 2: They got rid of that, and they went to streaming
- 12:30Speaker 2: because you could just, $ 8, you got streaming. Well, it
- 12:36Speaker 2: was $ 8. Then it's $ 12. Then it's $ 15. Then it's $ 20.
- 12:40Speaker 2: And now it turns out you can't have one streaming service.
- 12:43Speaker 2: You've got to have six of them. You know, I
- 12:46Speaker 2: guess you could just have Netflix, but you got to
- 12:47Speaker 2: have Paramount. You got to have Disney. You got to
- 12:49Speaker 2: have Hulu. And they keep raising the prices. Everybody's all
- 12:53Speaker 2: upset now. This is if you want the ad-free Disney.
- 12:56Speaker 2: It's going up $ 2.
- 12:58Speaker 7: 50.
- 12:58Speaker 2: It's going to be $ 21. 50 a month. And Hulu increasing
- 13:00Speaker 2: $ 2. 50 a month. It's now going to be $ 22 a month.
- 13:09Speaker 2: So if you add up the five or six or
- 13:11Speaker 2: seven streaming things you got, you're right back to the
- 13:13Speaker 2: $ 200 you were spending on cable. You could watch it
- 13:17Speaker 2: with the ads. That's a lot cheaper, which I recommend,
- 13:20Speaker 2: by the way. Hey, watch a couple of commercials. It's
- 13:23Speaker 2: not going to kill you. Hulu is good for certain things.
- 13:27Speaker 2: If you want live TV, you got to pay a
- 13:30Speaker 2: lot more for that. That's extra. But Hulu live TV,
- 13:33Speaker 2: put that in your computer, in your phone. You can
- 13:35Speaker 2: watch live television live. All your favorite channels, networks. You
- 13:39Speaker 2: can watch Fox. You can watch Channel 5. You can
- 13:42Speaker 2: watch MSNBC right in your phone wherever you are. It's
- 13:46Speaker 2: a great thing to have. Hey, we got the phones
- 13:48Speaker 2: fixed from yesterday. They're actually working. We can take some calls.
- 13:53Speaker 2: 800-321-0710 is the number. We'll take some calls next. We
- 13:58Speaker 2: always look for new callers.
- 14:00Speaker 6: 800-321-0710.
- 14:05Speaker 1: The Mark Simone Show, now 9 till noon weekdays on 710WOR.
- 14:11Speaker 2: Hey, let's take some calls. Let's go to Lucia in Westchester. Lucia,
- 14:18Speaker 2: how you doing?
- 14:21Speaker 5: Hi.
- 14:21Speaker 4: Very well, thank you. I am a new listener, and
- 14:25Speaker 4: I enjoy your show until, you know, sometimes.
- 14:30Speaker 2: Why?
- 14:30Speaker 5: Why?
- 14:31Speaker 4: A lot of your callers you make fun of.
- 14:34Speaker 6: Yes.
- 14:35Speaker 4: You interrupt them.
- 14:37Speaker 6: Yes.
- 14:37Speaker 4: You say you don't know what they're talking about.
- 14:39Speaker 2: Yes.
- 14:40Speaker 4: I think it's very condescending and rude. Why?
- 14:43Speaker 5: It's not funny.
- 14:46Speaker 2: What a pain in the ass you are. I said
- 14:49Speaker 2: new callers, not callers that give us a hard time.
- 14:53Speaker 4: Yeah, you've got to screen your callers a little bit.
- 14:55Speaker 2: No, we don't screen. We don't screen. No, if you
- 14:57Speaker 2: don't know what you're talking about, I have to tell you.
- 14:59Speaker 2: If you're taking too long, I got it.
- 15:00Speaker 4: No, it's not nice. Yes, yes.
- 15:04Speaker 2: It's nice. You're wrong.
- 15:06Speaker 4: You know what? If you did that to me once,
- 15:08Speaker 4: I'd never call you again.
- 15:10Speaker 2: You got to do it sometime. No, it's not everybody. Hey,
- 15:14Speaker 2: the people I do that to call back a million times.
- 15:17Speaker 2: Have a little sense of humor, Lucia. Where are you
- 15:19Speaker 2: in Westchester?
- 15:20Speaker 5: All right, all right.
- 15:21Speaker 2: Where are you in Westchester?
- 15:22Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 15:22Speaker 2: Where are you in Westchester?
- 15:24Speaker 4: I'm in Katona.
- 15:26Speaker 2: Well, see, already you got a sense of humor. Katona.
- 15:30Speaker 2: It's very nice. A little out of the way, Katona,
- 15:33Speaker 2: but it's very nice there.
- 15:35Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 15:36Speaker 4: It's Bedford. It's beautiful. I love it here.
- 15:39Speaker 2: It's beautiful there, unless you want to do something. Otherwise,
- 15:42Speaker 2: it's a little.
- 15:43Speaker 4: Well, we don't want to do anything. We don't want
- 15:46Speaker 4: to see people. We want to be alone.
- 15:49Speaker 2: Well, you've got the right place for it. You're right
- 15:51Speaker 2: near that Martha Stewart.
- 15:54Speaker 4: Well, she's not here anymore.
- 15:55Speaker 5: She left.
- 15:56Speaker 2: Oh, thank God.
- 15:57Speaker 5: Thank God. Yeah, we hated her.
- 15:59Speaker 2: She makes you look like a lot of fun. I'm kidding.
- 16:01Speaker 2: It's a joke. It's a joke. See, now you laugh.
- 16:03Speaker 4: All right, all right, all right. Be nice to people,
- 16:06Speaker 4: especially old people. We feel bad if you're not nice.
- 16:11Speaker 2: Oh, just have a little sense of humor. Keep listening,
- 16:14Speaker 2: and you'll see if you get used to it. Let's
- 16:16Speaker 2: go to Linda in Long Island. Linda, how you doing?
- 16:20Speaker 4: Hi, Mark. I just wanted to agree with you. I
- 16:23Speaker 4: can't believe that. Taylor Swift, disgusting.
- 16:27Speaker 5: It's not disgusting.
- 16:28Speaker 2: I couldn't believe it's real. It's a little boring. It was.
- 16:32Speaker 2: It sounded like a noise in front of her trying
- 16:35Speaker 2: to sing. I can't believe she conned people out of
- 16:38Speaker 2: a billion dollars. It's not disgusting.
- 16:40Speaker 5: At least a billion.
- 16:41Speaker 2: Okay, you'd rather have Viti Gourmet, is that it?
- 16:44Speaker 5: No, I'd rather have Whitney Houston.
- 16:46Speaker 4: That's a real singer. She's disgusting, Taylor Swift.
- 16:49Speaker 2: She's not disgusting. It's a little boring.
- 16:51Speaker 4: She's a con artist.
- 16:52Speaker 2: She's not a con artist. It's a little boring.
- 16:54Speaker 5: Yes, she is.
- 16:55Speaker 2: It's a little boring. Listen to this. Third, fourth time,
- 16:58Speaker 2: it starts to grow on you.
- 17:01Speaker 4: That singing? That's really? Really? I can't believe that.
- 17:04Speaker 2: I would never go near that by that.
- 17:07Speaker 5: That is ridiculous.
- 17:09Speaker 2: All right.
- 17:09Speaker 4: Did you like Whitney Houston? Wasn't she great?
- 17:12Speaker 2: Yeah, but, okay, I want you to wait about a
- 17:15Speaker 2: month and a half.
- 17:15Speaker 5: Compare them.
- 17:16Speaker 2: You're going to hear this on the radio 50 million times.
- 17:18Speaker 2: Then you'll love it. You'll be humming it. I'll never
- 17:21Speaker 2: love it. You're going to have to play this at
- 17:22Speaker 2: your birthday party. Okay, let me hear you do it.
- 17:25Speaker 5: All right, I can't.
- 17:28Speaker 2: Not anybody can do it.
- 17:29Speaker 4: All right, you got me. I can't do that.
- 17:31Speaker 2: All right.
- 17:31Speaker 4: Oh, I could, but not on the air.
- 17:34Speaker 6: I can do it alone.
- 17:35Speaker 2: All right, Linda, give it a chance.
- 17:37Speaker 5: All right, we had fun.
- 17:38Speaker 6: Okay.
- 17:39Speaker 2: All right, take care. Let's go to Ralph in Manhattan. Ralph,
- 17:41Speaker 2: how are you doing?
- 17:44Speaker 7: Hey, Mark, you know, you talked about the Carnegie Deli
- 17:48Speaker 7: a few days ago and the Broadway Danny Rose that
- 17:51Speaker 7: about mid 80s. Was that not a fantastic time during
- 17:55Speaker 7: that time when they featured the great Carnegie Deli and
- 17:58Speaker 7: and Woody was walking with his guy that played the
- 18:02Speaker 7: Italian singer in that movie was.
- 18:04Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 18:05Speaker 2: I think his name was. Apollo Forte, if I'm not mistaken.
- 18:08Speaker 2: That's right, Nick Apollo Forte. Hey, everybody go back and
- 18:11Speaker 2: get the movie Broadway Danny Rose. Watch it again. The
- 18:13Speaker 2: Carnegie Deli is one of the stars of the movie. But,
- 18:16Speaker 2: you see, in those days, the front table was like
- 18:19Speaker 2: the celebrity table. Whatever big stars were in town would
- 18:22Speaker 2: all meet at the celebrity table there. I used to
- 18:25Speaker 2: go there all the time, sit there. At, like, 11
- 18:27Speaker 2: o'clock at night, everybody would show up after their shows.
- 18:29Speaker 2: And they would just tell stories and talk show business stuff.
- 18:33Speaker 2: In the movie Broadway, Danny Rose, they show you that
- 18:36Speaker 2: table with a whole bunch of real comedians talking, and
- 18:39Speaker 2: that's where the movie takes off from. But go watch
- 18:42Speaker 2: the movie. You'll love it. It stars the Carnegie Deli. Broadway,
- 18:47Speaker 2: Danny Rose. Go watch the movie. Let's go to Vincent
- 18:50Speaker 2: in Brooklyn. Vincent, how are you doing?
- 18:52Speaker 6: Good morning, Mark. Mark, I'm okay. That Taylor Swift song
- 18:57Speaker 6: starts to grow on you like a herpes wash.
- 19:02Speaker 2: Okay, it's not Jerry Vale, but take a listen. Tell
- 19:06Speaker 2: me you don't like this.
- 19:07Speaker 6: You can't imagine Jimmy Roselli singing that?
- 19:16Speaker 2: Well, no.
- 19:19Speaker 6: Jimmy Roselli was singing it. Every other word would have
- 19:23Speaker 6: to be bleeped out.
- 19:25Speaker 2: Okay, but picture Al Martin.
- 19:29Speaker 6: Jeff Beck or Eric Clapton, she is not on the guitar.
- 19:34Speaker 6: On a more serious note, Jessica Tish is doing a
- 19:38Speaker 6: wonderful job keeping all these nut job anti-Israel, all these
- 19:44Speaker 6: Jew haters in line at Dag Hammarskjöld Plaza. Given that,
- 19:50Speaker 6: me personally, I believe at the end of next week,
- 19:54Speaker 6: when all these dirtbags go back home to their hookers
- 19:58Speaker 6: in black robes in these Arabic countries, But Jessica Grutish,
- 20:03Speaker 6: my opinion, should hand in her resignation.
- 20:08Speaker 2: I was with her yesterday. We had a big lunch.
- 20:10Speaker 2: In fact, you could see pictures of it on my Instagram.
- 20:13Speaker 2: Go to MarkSimoneNYC on Instagram. And I said, we all
- 20:17Speaker 2: have two words for you. Don't leave. And she said,
- 20:20Speaker 2: I'm not going anywhere. I'm just getting started.
- 20:24Speaker 6: Mark, I believe she would make a great mayor. and
- 20:28Speaker 6: i i'm saying this because i don't want julie menon
- 20:31Speaker 6: to get the jump start.
- 20:33Speaker 2: On her well julie was not bad but you're right.
- 20:35Speaker 6: You're starting these packs and everything.
- 20:37Speaker 2: I know i know you're right we gotta go do
- 20:40Speaker 2: the news but uh thanks for calling always a great
- 20:42Speaker 2: call yeah she did say and we had an audience
- 20:45Speaker 2: there like 150 people in front of the audience she
- 20:49Speaker 2: said i'm not going anywhere i'm just getting started so Hey,
- 20:53Speaker 2: when we come back, the great, brilliant economist Steve Moore
- 20:56Speaker 2: will be with us next on 710WOR.
- 21:01Speaker 3: Mark Simone on 710WOR.
- 21:05Speaker 2: Well, we turn now to the brilliant economist Steve Moore,
- 21:09Speaker 2: best-selling author. You should get his latest book, The Trump
- 21:13Speaker 2: Economic Miracle. You'll learn a lot from that book. Also,
- 21:16Speaker 2: he runs the Committee to Unleash Prosperity. They put out
- 21:19Speaker 2: the best daily briefing. It's great news and analysis. Go
- 21:22Speaker 2: to UnleashProsperity.com. It's free. It'll come right to your email.
- 21:26Speaker 2: Just sign up for the hotline. Go to UnleashProsperity.com. Steve Moore,
- 21:31Speaker 2: how you doing?
- 21:33Speaker 5: Hey, Mark. Good to be with you. Thanks for having me.
- 21:35Speaker 2: Hey, we got to do something about the high price
- 21:37Speaker 2: of diesel, mostly caused by the Ukraine-Russia war. President wants
- 21:41Speaker 2: to ban exports. That's not the way to do it,
- 21:43Speaker 2: is it?
- 21:45Speaker 5: No, it's not going to work. And that will actually
- 21:48Speaker 5: make gas prices higher. and it won't really bring down
- 21:52Speaker 5: diesel prices. So bad idea. But, you know, politicians, when
- 21:56Speaker 5: they face a crisis, they always have to do something, right?
- 21:58Speaker 5: It's a bad idea to have to. So there's a
- 22:01Speaker 5: better idea, by the way. One is to, you know,
- 22:04Speaker 5: let's get that Strait of Hormuz open, which, by the way,
- 22:07Speaker 5: if that happens, we're going to have the best booming
- 22:08Speaker 5: economy ever because everything else in the economy is going
- 22:11Speaker 5: so great. It's just the gas prices are so high,
- 22:13Speaker 5: people are angry. And, you know, rightfully so. So I've
- 22:18Speaker 5: got a couple ideas. One is, you know, I've recommended
- 22:21Speaker 5: to the White House, let's suspend the gas tax, the
- 22:23Speaker 5: federal gas tax, until the price of gas goes back down,
- 22:26Speaker 5: you know, below, say, $ 3.
- 22:27Speaker 6: 50 a gallon.
- 22:28Speaker 5: That would save us about $ 0. 20, $ 0. 25 a gallon if
- 22:31Speaker 5: we did that. And the second thing I would do, Mark,
- 22:34Speaker 5: is I would, you know, there's all these blending requirements,
- 22:38Speaker 5: you know, for the reason we have refineries is they,
- 22:41Speaker 5: you know, they pump out of the oil that's called
- 22:43Speaker 5: crude oil. then it has to go to the refineries
- 22:45Speaker 5: and they have to add in ethanol and corn and
- 22:48Speaker 5: all these other, you know, stuff. And that adds about,
- 22:51Speaker 5: you know, 30 cents a gallon to the, to the
- 22:53Speaker 5: price of a, a gas at the pump. So why not, um, uh,
- 22:58Speaker 5: you know, at least sub temporarily, but why do we
- 23:00Speaker 5: have to put corn in our tank?
- 23:04Speaker 2: Was that because of, that was because.
- 23:06Speaker 5: Of, you know what the answer to that is exactly
- 23:09Speaker 5: what I have a two word answer to my own question. Uh,
- 23:12Speaker 5: Chuck Grassley, and by the way, I like Chuck Grassley.
- 23:17Speaker 5: I've known him for 40 years, but he's the 92-year-old
- 23:19Speaker 5: senator from Iowa, and he's the one guy who keeps
- 23:22Speaker 5: the ethanol subsidy alive because it's a big deal in Iowa.
- 23:26Speaker 5: But the other thing is we haven't built the infrastructure
- 23:30Speaker 5: we need in this country for our energy revolution. Remember
- 23:34Speaker 5: the Democrats blocked all the pipelines that we need to
- 23:38Speaker 5: get the oil from Texas to the Northeast. from North
- 23:42Speaker 5: Dakota to the Northeast. And then, you know, we need refineries.
- 23:46Speaker 5: We need LNG terminals. And the left has just blocked
- 23:49Speaker 5: all of those. And so that makes gas at the
- 23:53Speaker 5: pump a lot more expensive as well.
- 23:54Speaker 2: Yeah, we have so much oil, more than we could
- 23:56Speaker 2: ever use. But we haven't built a refinery since the 70s, right? Yeah.
- 24:01Speaker 5: So it's like 1979 or something. Don't quote me on that,
- 24:03Speaker 5: but it's been a long time.
- 24:05Speaker 6: Wow.
- 24:06Speaker 2: Hey, Steve Moore, I love reading the hotline every day.
- 24:08Speaker 2: It's free. You can just go to UnleashProsperity.com, sign up.
- 24:13Speaker 2: So states that are– everybody's leaving here, leaving California. What
- 24:17Speaker 2: states are doing the best getting people moving into them?
- 24:21Speaker 5: Yeah, so we just published that data. It was in
- 24:24Speaker 5: our hotline today. So if you look at the number of–
- 24:26Speaker 5: as a percentage terms, which states have lost the most
- 24:30Speaker 5: and gained the most, the states that have gained the
- 24:32Speaker 5: most are states like Idaho– Florida, obviously, it's a big state,
- 24:37Speaker 5: but even as a big state, it's gained a lot
- 24:38Speaker 5: of percentage population. Another one is Utah. All those people
- 24:44Speaker 5: in California are leaving for Utah and Idaho and Montana.
- 24:48Speaker 5: By the way, I'm not sure the people in Montana
- 24:50Speaker 5: and Utah are so excited about California coming in. But
- 24:54Speaker 5: on the East Coast, not surprisingly, New York and New
- 24:57Speaker 5: Jersey keep bleeding people, and they tend to be the
- 25:00Speaker 5: most successful people, the higher-income people who pay the tax revenues.
- 25:04Speaker 5: so it's a big problem and in fact in terms
- 25:06Speaker 5: of money the states that have lost the most money
- 25:08Speaker 5: can we know the incomes of these people and uh...
- 25:12Speaker 5: and so it's a uh... it's a big uh... you
- 25:15Speaker 5: know it's a big deal that uh... they've lost so
- 25:17Speaker 5: many you know millionaires and billionaires i mean if you
- 25:20Speaker 5: say oh we hate millionaires and billionaires guess what they
- 25:22Speaker 5: leave that's why you know these talks by mandami and
- 25:25Speaker 5: then california a millionaire tax billionaire tax debt you know
- 25:28Speaker 5: tax them they'll just leave and they do and they've
- 25:31Speaker 5: a lot of them have left already.
- 25:34Speaker 2: But the problem with living in Idaho is you have
- 25:36Speaker 2: to live in Idaho.
- 25:39Speaker 5: I don't know. I was just in Sun Valley for
- 25:42Speaker 5: about a three-day conference about a week ago. I've got
- 25:44Speaker 5: to say, it was one of the most beautiful places.
- 25:47Speaker 5: By the way, Idaho real estate prices have tripled in
- 25:50Speaker 5: the last 10 years because so many people are moving in.
- 25:53Speaker 2: And, hey, you wrote about Colorado. They've got a millionaire's
- 25:57Speaker 2: tax that is, what, it's totally backfiring?
- 26:01Speaker 5: Well, you know, Colorado is one of the, you know,
- 26:05Speaker 5: I've written a lot about Colorado. It's the one blue
- 26:07Speaker 5: state that really works. You know, they've had a really
- 26:11Speaker 5: good governor there who's a Democrat, but, you know, a
- 26:14Speaker 5: pro-growth Democrat. And they have a tax and limitation measure.
- 26:19Speaker 5: And they have a flat tax. I think it's 4.9%.
- 26:30Speaker 5: And so Colorado has done very well. And now they
- 26:34Speaker 5: want to get rid of their flat tax and raise
- 26:35Speaker 5: it from 4.8% to 8.4%. And they want to get
- 26:39Speaker 5: rid of their spending limitation measure. So they're going wacko
- 26:43Speaker 5: in Colorado. And that will be on the ballot in November.
- 26:46Speaker 5: So we'll see if the Colorado voters, you know, vote
- 26:49Speaker 5: for Soak the Rich because Soak the Rich never works.
- 26:53Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 26:54Speaker 2: Well, hey, you had this great story today. You know, A.I.,
- 26:59Speaker 2: A lot of people are against it. I can see
- 27:01Speaker 2: why the news media is against it. It is killing
- 27:03Speaker 2: their business on their websites, isn't it?
- 27:06Speaker 5: This is a really amazing story, and I'm just starting
- 27:09Speaker 5: to learn about it, but it could completely change the
- 27:13Speaker 5: way media works, you know, forever. And it could do
- 27:17Speaker 5: great damage to what I call the legacy medias, which
- 27:19Speaker 5: are the CNNs of the world and the Washington Post
- 27:23Speaker 5: and the New York Times, etc., because the what's happening now,
- 27:27Speaker 5: do you know, do you get chat, do you use
- 27:28Speaker 5: chat GPT on your, like when you do, if you
- 27:31Speaker 5: notice when you do Google searches now, it immediately drives
- 27:35Speaker 5: you to, you know, uh, you know, in other words,
- 27:38Speaker 5: instead of listing all the, you know, things, it, it,
- 27:41Speaker 5: it drives you to pick, you know, two or three
- 27:44Speaker 5: major ones. And then what people are doing is they're,
- 27:47Speaker 5: it's instead of like going to the New York times
- 27:49Speaker 5: website and, you know, just per using all the stories, uh,
- 27:53Speaker 5: they'll just look at the one story. So what's happening
- 27:56Speaker 5: is that the number of views for these online publications,
- 28:01Speaker 5: like the New York Times and Watch Post, has fallen
- 28:04Speaker 5: by 40%.
- 28:05Speaker 2: Wow.
- 28:06Speaker 5: And that's how they get their revenues, right? They get
- 28:08Speaker 5: their revenues from the ads. You know, when you read
- 28:11Speaker 5: a New York Times story, they put the ads in there. Well,
- 28:13Speaker 5: guess what? Nobody's going to buy ads if the people
- 28:16Speaker 5: are viewing the story. So this could cause a revolution, right?
- 28:22Speaker 5: and uh in how ai is changing the way we
- 28:26Speaker 5: gain information and it could put new york times and
- 28:28Speaker 5: washington post out of business i know that you'd be
- 28:30Speaker 5: very sad about that mark well.
- 28:32Speaker 2: It could also hurt the new york post too because
- 28:34Speaker 2: uh yeah right.
- 28:35Speaker 5: No but it's affecting all of the kind of those
- 28:38Speaker 5: new york post too and so i don't know how
- 28:41Speaker 5: this is going to turn out but um you know
- 28:44Speaker 5: ai is is uh is really dramatically changing things just
- 28:48Speaker 5: in the last few months yeah.
- 28:50Speaker 2: Hey uh the The president spends the whole day with
- 28:53Speaker 2: President Xi, China. What's the point of this? Whatever agreement
- 28:57Speaker 2: you make with China, they're never going to stick to it.
- 28:58Speaker 2: So why even bother?
- 29:02Speaker 5: You know, I'm totally skeptical, too. And, you know, I
- 29:05Speaker 5: love Donald Trump, and he certainly knows the art of
- 29:08Speaker 5: the deal. But this is, you know, we know now
- 29:12Speaker 5: we can't trust China. We know that their main goal
- 29:16Speaker 5: is to knock off America as the uh... as the
- 29:20Speaker 5: you know the world economic superpower and so you know
- 29:24Speaker 5: it's like remember the famous story of khrushchev you know
- 29:27Speaker 5: in the soviet union uh... when he came back from
- 29:30Speaker 5: his visit to the united states and he said we
- 29:32Speaker 5: will bury you Well, that's what, you know, let's face it,
- 29:36Speaker 5: that's what President Xi wants to do. He wants to
- 29:38Speaker 5: bury us. So, you know, the most dangerous snakes are
- 29:42Speaker 5: the ones that smile at you before they bite you.
- 29:46Speaker 5: And that's what President Xi is. He's a snake, and
- 29:50Speaker 5: they're out to get us. So, and look, Trump is
- 29:52Speaker 5: smart enough, I hope, to, you know, see through this,
- 29:55Speaker 5: you know, that... You have to treat them. And by
- 29:59Speaker 5: the way, Trump, remember, Trump got elected in Perkins River, China.
- 30:03Speaker 5: We have to do that, China.
- 30:06Speaker 2: Well, we'll see what happens at the end of the day.
- 30:08Speaker 2: But Steve Moore has a great book out called The
- 30:10Speaker 2: Trump Economic Miracle. Get the book. And boy, I love
- 30:14Speaker 2: that hotline you put out every day. Best news, best analysis.
- 30:17Speaker 2: And it's free. Just go to UnleashProsperity.com. And Steve Moore,
- 30:22Speaker 2: thanks for being with us.
- 30:24Speaker 5: Great to be with you. Have a great weekend.
- 30:25Speaker 2: Take care. All right. take care uh yeah that uh
- 30:29Speaker 2: so the problem is ai used to google search something
- 30:32Speaker 2: like uh google uh what's the meeting with president xi
- 30:36Speaker 2: today and google would give you a bunch of things
- 30:39Speaker 2: to go to you could go to the new york
- 30:40Speaker 2: post website you could go to the new york times
- 30:42Speaker 2: website and you'd click on these websites problem is now
- 30:46Speaker 2: you google search ai gives you the answer so you
- 30:49Speaker 2: never have to click on any of those news sites
- 30:52Speaker 2: and they don't get any credit for any clicks so
- 30:54Speaker 2: But I didn't realize they're down 40% because of AI.
- 30:58Speaker 2: That is so dangerous for them. Hey, coming up at noon,
- 31:01Speaker 2: Buck Saxton and Clay Travis. And then, 3 o'clock, you've
- 31:06Speaker 2: got the most listened to radio show in America, Sean Handy.
- 31:10Speaker 2: I'm here now three hours every day, 9 to noon.
- 31:15Speaker 2: 9 to noon every day. And, of course, from 6
- 31:17Speaker 2: to 9, it's Curtis Lewa and Larry Menti. here on 710WOR.
- 31:23Speaker 1: Now nine till noon weekday.
- 31:25Speaker 2: Smart Simone. Only on 710WOR. Well, it's a chilly day today.
- 31:32Speaker 2: It's only like 57. It's going to be like this
- 31:36Speaker 2: for a while. And then a rainy Saturday, rainy weekend.
- 31:40Speaker 2: It should get into the 70s next week. Just remember
- 31:42Speaker 2: Benjamin Netanyahu, big speech today at the UN, but it'll
- 31:45Speaker 2: mean a traffic and security crisis. nightmare, a lot of
- 31:49Speaker 2: closings all over the city. Should be a little better tomorrow,
- 31:53Speaker 2: but it's not really till Monday that things will ease up.
- 31:56Speaker 2: These world leaders will get the hell out of here
- 31:58Speaker 2: over the weekend. And they still have UN stuff next week,
- 32:01Speaker 2: but the traffic should be much more normal starting Monday. Hey,
- 32:05Speaker 2: thanks for listening. I'm here every day, three hours now,
- 32:08Speaker 2: nine to noon, nine to noon every day. See you tomorrow, 710WOR.
