Transcript
- 1:03What's going on, everybody? Welcome back to the episode the
- 1:06WASD and Beyond podcast. As always, I'm your host, Nick.
- 1:10Accompanying me is Evan. That's me.
- 1:14Hello, that is you. Before we get into the episode
- 1:17this week, let's shout out the sponsors of the show and the
- 1:20Spawn Camp network Slash Community.
- 1:23I need to figure out what word I want to use and then we'll stop
- 1:26doing the slash community slash network thing.
- 1:29Firstly, we got Final boss. They got some leftovers going up
- 1:33on the store. They've teased some Tomb Raider
- 1:35stuff. He's teasing a lot of cool
- 1:37stuff. Check final Boss out.
- 1:39Keep your eye on this page. It's got out to get wild.
- 1:42Doc Longey has a cool Taylor Swift and MF Doom drop right now
- 1:46with a limited of 20 MF Doom coins.
- 1:50That is fucking gnarly. I'll send you a picture of the
- 1:53coins. They're fucking sick.
- 1:55The Tomb Raider drop Eric's working on is sick.
- 1:59New Tomb Raider or old Tomb Raider like, oh, we're starting,
- 2:03we're starting with the. Classics.
- 2:04Gotcha. I just wasn't sure.
- 2:06I mean, I never played the the old ones.
- 2:09I did like the new ones. I know those.
- 2:13Studied those. Right now, Yes.
- 2:14I haven't. Every every little boy in the
- 2:1790s and early 2000s did. I don't even know if I played
- 2:22it. Yeah, I mean I probably played
- 2:24it for like 5 minutes one time. The old Tomb Raider.
- 2:29Yeah, I I vaguely remember I was young enough to the point where
- 2:33I didn't know how to get like, down the ladder or something.
- 2:37It was really stupid. I was like maybe 5, like I had
- 2:40no idea what I was doing. I could imagine those games
- 2:43would be not not not fun, but like nowadays, they're so
- 2:49clunky. Yeah, I mean the.
- 2:53You know what I mean? Yeah, I mean the earliest memory
- 2:55I have of playing a game like. As a story, through to the end
- 2:59was probably Medal of Honor Pacific assault, and that came
- 3:02out in like 2007. I probably played it when I was
- 3:03like 7 or 8 Gotcha, gotcha, gotcha.
- 3:07Fit right in. Well, there's a lot happening in
- 3:10gaming, buddy. Oh, yes.
- 3:12Check out the swan Cam network, please.
- 3:15We're gonna call it the network. That's it.
- 3:18Community. Does community sound better?
- 3:21Let's do this right now. Live community or network.
- 3:24Community. Community.
- 3:26Okay. Spawn camp community.
- 3:28I like community. Check the spawn camp community
- 3:30out. It's free to join the Discord.
- 3:33It will always be free. There are no fucking Patreon
- 3:36tears involved. You don't pay us.
- 3:39You could game with us, play D&D with us.
- 3:42You could talk Baldur's Gate Three with us.
- 3:46Alluding to something, we watch a lot of TV together.
- 3:51Usually we watch a lot of movies together.
- 3:53We do fight nights, we do a whole lot of a lot.
- 3:56We talk tech, we talk models, we talk hobbies.
- 4:00Right now I am really big back in the 40K, so I'm trying to get
- 4:03everyone to spend 160 bucks on very small models.
- 4:09Final boss got back into him. Thank you, final boss.
- 4:12Stoked for you buddy. Yeah, right.
- 4:15That's cool. But not for me, Alex.
- 4:18I've infected a few people with Chaos and good.
- 4:23That's good, That's good. It's good.
- 4:24But yeah, hop in, talk hobbies, talk games, play games, have a
- 4:29good time, join the community. And yeah, that's Spawn camp,
- 4:32right? That's good.
- 4:34Yeah, I like it. That's the plug.
- 4:37But no, there is a lot of fucking things happening in
- 4:38gaming today, was the Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 reveal.
- 4:42Yeah, that was pretty cool. So I didn't get to watch it.
- 4:45I'm gonna watch it and we'll probably, I would say maybe if
- 4:49we get time we can record a small hot fix for next week.
- 4:53Yeah, this week I think it's very exciting.
- 4:58I saw the gameplay reveal and I saw like a lot of details.
- 5:03Around it. So I really like the idea of
- 5:07this. I'm just curious to see how it
- 5:09plays. Like I'm excited for a lot of
- 5:14things that they've discussed. Mostly the biggest thing that
- 5:17was confirmed, which was we're getting all the original Modern
- 5:20Warfare 2 2009 maps, which is sweet Afghan Wasteland.
- 5:29Cory all that, all of them, and I'm just super excited.
- 5:32Just go back into them and everything like that and a
- 5:36couple other changes. But we can wait till we do that
- 5:38episode. Yeah, it's possibly expect hot
- 5:42fix. It's been a minutes and I think
- 5:44with everything going on in gaming right now, they might be
- 5:47a bit more prevalent. Maybe every other week.
- 5:50So we can not burn ourselves out on top of Call of Duty starfield
- 5:55releases in a few weeks. 3 weeks I believe to be exact, with you
- 5:59being able to preload it today on.
- 6:03Xbox That's pretty cool. An Xbox Game Pass. 100 gigs or
- 6:08so if I'm not mistaken, but. 39 Yeah, 139 But there's this.
- 6:16OK, there's a lot of discourse going on because it is Bethesda.
- 6:19I understand that. But the the the map that they
- 6:23have laid out for this game is impressive and all the the
- 6:30things that they're discussing that are going to be a part of
- 6:34the game are impressive. It's, you know, people are
- 6:36trying to compare it to Ballers Gate 3, and I don't think that's
- 6:39fair because they're two completely different styles of
- 6:42RPG. Yeah, I I would agree.
- 6:46I mean, they're very, very different.
- 6:49And I don't mean this in a bad way, but I think that Starfield
- 6:52is a bit more contained. In in a certain respect, like a
- 6:57lot of things in Baldur Skate 3 are kind of like, if you think
- 7:02that you can pull this off, try it and you might do it like you
- 7:06might actually do what you're trying to do.
- 7:07Whereas Starfield kind of has the same sort of if you want to
- 7:10go there, you can feel but not as much creativity.
- 7:16I see. That makes sense.
- 7:18Like, I mean, we don't know that yet.
- 7:21It just feels that way like it's creativity is not the right
- 7:25word. But it's you're not.
- 7:28There might be a bit more chains put onto you, whereas Baldur's
- 7:31Gates, there are not many chains that are really binding you
- 7:34down. But we don't know what Stargate,
- 7:37Stargate, it's a good show. Starfield.
- 7:42We don't know what Starfield really has to offer yet.
- 7:45We've seen the Obviously when they showed it off at E3, not
- 7:49E3, it looked a fuck ton better than it did.
- 7:54And that is a relief because I didn't.
- 7:58If I'm being honest, I didn't think it was going to be
- 8:00releasing in September. I thought there was going to be
- 8:02a last minute. I mean, there still could be,
- 8:04but I really did. I don't know because the the
- 8:07review copies have already gone out to the review.
- 8:10No, we're getting it in September, man.
- 8:12Like, that's fucking crazy. Like.
- 8:15Can I say it's it's one of those things that to me in terms of
- 8:20just how Xbox has acquired Bethesda and all that stuff, and
- 8:23this is their first big game coming out, being under their
- 8:25umbrella, if I'm not mistaken. Very curious to see if these
- 8:31reviews, these review copies go out right.
- 8:33The reviews are good, it's not clunky, it's not buggy, blah
- 8:36blah blah blah blah. If it's really that, do we owe
- 8:41or do we have to give Xbox a little bit of credit?
- 8:44And think that maybe they had something to do with the fact
- 8:46that this is Bethesda's best launch in how many years in
- 8:50terms? Of a long game play quality.
- 8:52And yeah, like the amount of bugs or patches needed.
- 8:57You know, like that's gonna be kind of huge.
- 9:01Starfield just knocks it out of the park.
- 9:03So I'll answer this in two parts.
- 9:07You brought up bugs. I'm expecting to to see bugs.
- 9:10Obviously it's a huge game, huge scale.
- 9:12I'm not sure giving it a pass but when you do, I mean even
- 9:16Ballers Gate 3 released with bugs, right?
- 9:18Like it's no game is immune on such a grand scale.
- 9:22Two bugs and two you know, I mean obviously if it's game
- 9:25breaking that really hampers you.
- 9:27That's the. That's the bigger thing, right?
- 9:28Yeah, I'm expecting bugs now. The level of bugs I'm expecting
- 9:35given the amount of time and what appears to be love that was
- 9:39put into this title, I'm expecting them to be kind of
- 9:42like back when like Fallout 3 or Skyrim came out.
- 9:47And yeah, there were game breaking bugs in those games,
- 9:49but like more so more often than not it was like cute, stupid
- 9:54fucking things that would happen where it's like Oh my God, like
- 9:56this is like, yeah this is the Bethesda feel, but the the way
- 10:01in which they craft their stories is so fucking great in
- 10:05my opinion that barring Fallout 4, but.
- 10:11OK, watch your mouth. Hey man, Fallout 3 was better.
- 10:14But what I'm saying is, yes, there's going to be bugs, but
- 10:17I'm not going to be hypercritical.
- 10:18If they are not critical bugs, if they if it's terrible on
- 10:22launch and it is just a hindrance if if it's the next
- 10:26cyberpunk, I'm pissed. But if it launches in a state
- 10:30where it's like, holy shit, they did it, then yeah, I think
- 10:35first, first round of applause goes to the team.
- 10:39Oh. Yeah, a 100%.
- 10:42The developers, the team behind Starfield at Bethesda, and
- 10:46everyone who fixed what they showed off in the first trailer,
- 10:51you know what I'm saying? So that's the first round of
- 10:53applause. Second round of applause
- 10:54definitely goes to Xbox because Xbox is probably sitting there
- 10:57going, you can we cannot afford for this game.
- 11:01And this is like more businessy, obviously, right?
- 11:03But, like, that's how they're gonna look at it first.
- 11:06First and foremost, we cannot afford for this to come out and
- 11:09you give us pie in the face. Well, I think that that's that's
- 11:13warranted to say to them though, you know, right.
- 11:16It's it's something I would have said.
- 11:18I would have been like, listen, you know you haven't had the
- 11:20best of games in in recent memory coming from your studio,
- 11:25right? Like, so you guys need to knock
- 11:28this out of the park and I guarantee you it's probably more
- 11:30of instead of. You need to knock this out of
- 11:32the park, you know, get the hell out of here.
- 11:34Go do your thing. They probably said.
- 11:35What can we do that's like? What?
- 11:38What can we do? Because at the end of the day,
- 11:40right, Xbox is a a game company, just like Bethesda, not just
- 11:44like, but you know what I mean? They're in the same bubble.
- 11:48And so I just think that that makes a lot of sense of them
- 11:51going and saying, yeah, how can we help you out?
- 11:54Because we want this to be. We want this to be good.
- 11:56Not just because it shows it's a good business decision, but also
- 11:59we want it to be good. We don't want to be a fucking
- 12:03sure. Tons of people at Xbox, I'm sure
- 12:05are Bethesda fans playing, falling on Xbox or something,
- 12:09you know what I mean? So yeah, like they want to see
- 12:11Bethesda do something great too. But yeah, no, I I I'm, I'm
- 12:16excited for it. I mean, it's a space game.
- 12:18It's already up my alley with that, right?
- 12:20There's a lot of exploration and seems like a lot of freedom and.
- 12:23A lot of customization and stuff like that, it looks.
- 12:27Can I say it's probably the year of the character creator because
- 12:29Starfield looks pretty cool and Baldur's Gate was sweet too.
- 12:33I mean, you and I both got stuck in that for an hour or so.
- 12:37Yeah, if not longer. I mean it's I'm excited for
- 12:42Starfield. I really am.
- 12:44It sucks because the game I was really jiving on, which was
- 12:49Diablo, they Blizzard, didn't take long to really put an axe
- 12:56to that. Can I say to any of our
- 13:00listeners who are, you know, listen to all these episodes,
- 13:05please go back and let me know if I said at some point between
- 13:09Diablo coming out and now, if I ever said that this was going to
- 13:12happen. Because I'm 90% sure I did.
- 13:15I think you did. I think everyone did, except for
- 13:17like me and like Logan, because it's like how good it started.
- 13:20Whatever, We're not doing this. We're not doing this because I'm
- 13:22now. I'm just pissed off fucking
- 13:23Blizzard. But yeah, so that we got
- 13:25Gamescom. Actually shut up.
- 13:27We got Gamescom coming up. We are going to actually get our
- 13:31first first first look of like true blue gameplay of Cyberpunk
- 13:38in the newest state it's in now. Are we getting in Chernobyl beta
- 13:43or a demo too? I feel like that.
- 13:45I think we are, yes. I think we're getting that.
- 13:48But with Cyberpunk, which is interesting to me, is we are
- 13:51gonna see what the game was supposed to be and what.
- 13:54We're actually, that's what they're all saying.
- 13:55Yeah, that's what they're saying.
- 13:56It's completely rewriting the DNA is one of the things I saw.
- 14:00So I mean hey, if that's what it is I'll I'll redownload it.
- 14:03But I That's our new campaign. I don't.
- 14:05Yeah, right. I will.
- 14:06I just, you know, it's one of those things where it still
- 14:10leaves a bad taste in your mouth.
- 14:11And I'm not really one. I'm not really one to just try
- 14:14and just. Give him a pass right?
- 14:17Like, no, I don't either. But I'm just wondering if this
- 14:20is going to be like the next No Man's Sky where it comes out,
- 14:23everyone's like, what the fuck is this?
- 14:26And then they're like, OK, OK, let's really hunker down.
- 14:30We're going to go silent because, like, I mean, the the
- 14:32cyberpunk devs have been quiet to a degree.
- 14:36And Oh yeah, I mean, we're getting Phantom Liberty.
- 14:39And if you don't buy Phantom Liberty, don't worry, because
- 14:43this update is free if you own Cyberpunk.
- 14:46So, like the update that revamps the game to what it was supposed
- 14:50to be is free. And I do.
- 14:55That's something that obviously shouldn't need to be said.
- 14:59But I do applaud. Even though I shouldn't have to
- 15:02applaud CDPR for this, I do applaud them for that.
- 15:04Thank you for not what a publicity nightmare that would
- 15:09have been. Yeah, that's.
- 15:12I would have quit if I were like.
- 15:14I'm like, OK, all right. Nope, I'm giving up, man.
- 15:17You fed me to the wolves. Here's, here's what I'll say,
- 15:20here's what I'll do is it comes out, I'll download it.
- 15:24I've I'll try not to look at reviews of the new update or
- 15:27anything like that. I'll redownload it going
- 15:30completely fresh because I haven't played it in like a year
- 15:32and a half. I'll start a new campaign and
- 15:35then I'll play through it. And if I like it and it really
- 15:37did change things, I'll get the DLC.
- 15:40Holy shit, that's September 26th, bro.
- 15:43Yeah, that's close. What the fuck?
- 15:47Fuck, we got like great schedule, right?
- 15:50Just games alone we have Armored Core 3, Armored Core.
- 15:55Yeah, At the end of this month we have Starfield Modern Warfare
- 15:593, Chernobyl. Still yes.
- 16:04I think, I don't know what else stalker.
- 16:07I know those guys are, you know. That's what I mean.
- 16:09I'm sorry. That's what I meant.
- 16:10Stalker. That's what I mean.
- 16:11Stalkers. December.
- 16:13Yeah, December, OK, December. But I think we're gonna see more
- 16:17at games come. Yeah.
- 16:19And then we got, I mean, if Cyberpunk is good, right?
- 16:22That's a big rerelease in a in a sense, I guess.
- 16:25Yep. So Yep, I mean lots.
- 16:28Of great stuff. And Ohh.
- 16:29And for me, specifically for it's a motorsport that's coming.
- 16:33Yeah, I think like October or September.
- 16:34Ohh. My God, Elliott and I are
- 16:35probably gonna be having a ton of fun with that.
- 16:37Yeah, Tarkov just wiped as well. And I know there's been a lot of
- 16:40people playing the shit out, Tarkov.
- 16:42I hear that it's pretty good, but yeah.
- 16:46I mean, I'll try it with the guys, I'll try it with with
- 16:49everybody, but I don't see myself playing it by myself
- 16:52currently. I'm I'm gonna wait till like,
- 16:54the game is out, I think probably to do something like
- 16:56that, yeah. Or.
- 16:58Depending on how angry other people get while I listen to
- 17:01them play the game, I won't play it at all.
- 17:03Yeah, pretty fucking much, man. But yeah, I mean, you're
- 17:06absolutely right. This is looking to be a really
- 17:12good schedule that I think we needed.
- 17:15And I'm not saying there hasn't been good games.
- 17:17There has been good games. We're about to get to 1 in like
- 17:19literally a minute. But other than like the the
- 17:23indie titles that have been coming out and killing it, you
- 17:25know what I mean? Like, there's been nothing.
- 17:28Quake 2 just got fucking remastered and it is doing
- 17:32amazing. People are so fucking stoked on
- 17:35it. The Ultrakill Turbo Overkill is
- 17:41sorry. I mean, that's a lot of kill.
- 17:42But Ultrakill and Turbo Turbo Overkill have been just slapping
- 17:48it right now, man. Like it's fucking outrageous
- 17:51what these these devs are doing. And I'm stoked to see devs like
- 17:57or publishers rather like Apogee at the forefront.
- 18:00And you also had my friendly neighborhood.
- 18:02There's so many cool things that are coming out that I think we
- 18:06are actually in a good state in gaming and no game really shines
- 18:11a light to that other than Baldur Skate 3 to me.
- 18:14And that is what we're going to our first impressions of Baldur
- 18:17Skate 3 because we can't do a proper review because I here get
- 18:22your hours on Steam ready. I AM 51.5 hours in and I'm only
- 18:27on Act 3. Total play time including Early
- 18:30Access is 90.2 and I played twenty.
- 18:33I played 20 Early Access, so okay, so we're not far off each
- 18:38other, but like, I mean, you put it.
- 18:43Just 70 hours alone since the game has dropped.
- 18:46Insane. I can't put it down like.
- 18:50You guys have been getting annoyed with me where I'll join
- 18:53and everybody's like or well, not you.
- 18:55But the rest of the guys have been where they'll get in and
- 18:58I'm every time they're like, you want to play a game and I go
- 19:00ball, there's Skate 3. That's all I say.
- 19:02I don't even say no, not right now.
- 19:03I just go bad for everybody. I just go BG3.
- 19:06Sorry. Like, I'm.
- 19:07I'm sorry. It has given me.
- 19:09I've been more engaged in this game than any competitive game
- 19:14I've played recently, like Overwatch or Counter Strike or
- 19:17anything like that. It's just too much fun.
- 19:20It is. It is.
- 19:24It is proof that the push for good games exists, the push for
- 19:30story driven narrative exists still that a team like Larian
- 19:36could pull this off. I mean, they don't get me wrong.
- 19:38Divinity Original Sin to that game is a pitch perfect game as
- 19:43well. But this game is just so.
- 19:49It's just so there this. Is so vast, right?
- 19:53Yes. You have so many options to do
- 19:56whatever you want, like whether it's a character creation or
- 20:00just, it feels like any little step you come up to in the game
- 20:05and you're talking to people in game and having some sort of
- 20:07conversation. Like, there's a million ways you
- 20:09could play it. You could just, you know, kill
- 20:12them out, right? You could smooth talk them.
- 20:14You could, you know, like there's just so many different
- 20:18paths to it. I guess in a way you have like
- 20:23your standard ones, right? Like I said, killing them all,
- 20:27persuading, you know, doing some sort of Charisma check.
- 20:29But then you can just do the outright wacky stuff because
- 20:32it's like D&D, right? You have scrolls that can change
- 20:35how all your characters look and and all that kind of stuff too,
- 20:39so it opens up all those paths. I mean, dude, it is.
- 20:46It is. Amazing what Larian has pulled
- 20:49off here. Not that I ever thought they
- 20:52couldn't, but the amount of depth.
- 20:54And that's the word I've been using a lot when we talk about
- 20:57the games we've been playing. Because every game seems to have
- 21:00depth to it, which is exactly what I want and what I thought
- 21:04we were missing and gaming for a hot minute there.
- 21:08But this game is just so on point with everything it's doing
- 21:13and I I can't fucking. I can't praise it enough, I
- 21:16think. For what it's done, like, I love
- 21:20that. I love all the D&D aesthetics
- 21:23that you get. I love all the D&D quirks that
- 21:25you get. I love the world that we're able
- 21:28to explore. I'm I'm loving the fact that I
- 21:33know that after this playthrough is over, I'm going to create
- 21:37another character to play with you and other people, and we're
- 21:39going to play a D&D campaign, basically that.
- 21:44That, to me, is really fucking cool.
- 21:47There's so much with this game, it looks beautiful as well.
- 21:50It's got its jank from time to time, with characters doing
- 21:54stupid things and kind of clipping here and there into
- 21:58stupid objects. But a game this big, you have to
- 22:03expect it. You just do, yeah, I think.
- 22:06It's gonna happen. I've sent you plenty of pictures
- 22:11that I've gotten in game, in conversation just of their
- 22:13faces, because they're just so expressive, like in a really
- 22:18perfect animated way, too. It's not too realistic, like
- 22:22they're trying to make every character look as human as
- 22:25possible, obviously, because it's, you know, magical and
- 22:28everything. But for being animated the way
- 22:31they are they just look. I I I've never seen even in like
- 22:36Red Dead they they didn't look that expressive.
- 22:39It's just I I don't know how to describe it the the tech they
- 22:43used is fantastic. It's it's amazing, man.
- 22:48Everything from like how when a player is upset, you can tell
- 22:54they're upset. When a player is stoked, you
- 22:56could tell they're stoked and when there's something
- 22:58everyone's talking about. But like when a player is or
- 23:00when a character, not a player. When a character is horny, you
- 23:03know, it's horny. Like, yeah, yeah, Oh yeah, you
- 23:08know. For all you out there, who
- 23:10shagged the bear, Cool it, man. Cool, it did y'all really do
- 23:15that. A lot of them did.
- 23:17I know a lot of listeners who are sitting there fucking red in
- 23:19the face, going, oh, come on man, chill out, be cool.
- 23:21I know. I'm pretty sure Brody did it.
- 23:24Pretty sure. No, that that bolt son of a
- 23:26bitch really do that. Probably, yeah.
- 23:30You know I can't, I can't say for sure, but now it's out in
- 23:33the air so well. You know what that means?
- 23:36Amber's gonna listen to this. No, she don't care.
- 23:38But you know what that means. Yes, she does.
- 23:40You have no way. You watch the chat.
- 23:43What, you didn't see the chat yesterday?
- 23:47And Video game banter on the Spawn camp Discord.
- 23:50What? Her tattoo artist?
- 23:53Yeah, yeah, She listens to this. Well, that's true.
- 23:56That's the truth, Amber. He did it.
- 23:58Oh, shit. Hi, Amber.
- 24:00Hi, Amber. Well, what I'm trying to say is,
- 24:04Amber, your husband's gonna be on the full review.
- 24:05Brody. We're gonna get Brody for the
- 24:06full review, everybody. When we all finished our first
- 24:09play, you tell us how it was. Yeah, how you how it was
- 24:12shagging the bear. But like I see a lot of.
- 24:15I do want to tackle this while we're here, because we're not.
- 24:17This isn't going to be a super crazy long episode because we
- 24:21are actually, after we finished recording this, getting right
- 24:24back into playing while there's gate, the horniness of the game,
- 24:30everyone's complaining. Yeah, there it it is.
- 24:33Horny to a degree, but it's not the only thing out there.
- 24:36Evan, can you please explain to me or to?
- 24:40You explained to me quite well when you said it the other day
- 24:43about the romantic journey characters so far, taking this
- 24:47opposed to other games, and I kind of liked how you explained
- 24:49that. Do you remember what you said?
- 24:51Yeah, yeah. I was telling you that like in
- 24:55comparison to other character RPGs like this, like a Fallout 3
- 24:59or New Vegas, the the climax of of your relationship with the
- 25:03character is basically you get to sleep with them.
- 25:05And that just was always like a little flirty dialogue in the
- 25:08you went to bed. But in Baldur's Gate, that's not
- 25:11the end of it. That's just part of it.
- 25:14It's not the most important like it is.
- 25:16It's there to signify a certain leap, but it's not.
- 25:21It's not the end of it. Like you can still get different
- 25:25dialogue as time goes on with them and doing whatever you do
- 25:30in specific situations or just that the fact they happen, they
- 25:33will talk to you and they will like, you know, you'll have a
- 25:37little bit of dialogue. I was telling you just before we
- 25:39started there was a whole set of dialogue I didn't even know
- 25:41existed because I never had talked to that person until
- 25:44then. And then what happened happened
- 25:48because I was in a relationship in game.
- 25:50She had something to say about it and I was like, that's
- 25:53really. And then not only that, there's
- 25:54like a couple different options to respond to it.
- 25:57It's not just varying degrees of yes, yes and yes or something
- 26:02like that. You know what I mean?
- 26:03Like, it's not forcing you down a path.
- 26:04You can, you can say Bold face that you didn't care that you
- 26:08did it. You can apologize or you can go
- 26:10kind of a middle road. And like I said, it's but
- 26:13that's, you know, just a part of the relationship, which I think
- 26:16is the best part of it is that. Yeah.
- 26:18Next. Right.
- 26:19It really is kind of in your face sometimes, but it's some
- 26:23characters in just like in real life are like that, you know?
- 26:26Exactly. I mean, everybody in this game
- 26:30definitely acts that way, so why not?
- 26:34I don't know. I don't know why.
- 26:35That's something to get upset over, but people kind of find a
- 26:38way to complain about anything. I kind of just see it as like it
- 26:42really, cuz yeah, it's violent, Yeah, it's horny.
- 26:45Yeah, there's a lot of crazy shit.
- 26:47But also shoot shows a lot of. Human and nonhuman emotion that
- 26:51I do enjoy, the characters go through and they mature, and
- 26:55everything in the game has its purpose and reason and I I like
- 26:58it for that. Like you, you'll find your goofy
- 27:01little things. But like, I've encountered
- 27:03something in the beginnings beginning section of the game
- 27:09that met me later on when I was in Baldur's Gate itself.
- 27:12And I was like, oh wow, that's fucking crazy.
- 27:14Like, that's really fucking wild that that's there.
- 27:19And there's just a lot, there's a lot of depth in the game.
- 27:23Like I said, depth is like the keyword we're going to use here.
- 27:28And I like it a lot. I love this fucking game.
- 27:30Thus far, I don't think it's a game that was made with
- 27:37everybody in mind. I definitely couldn't see Logan
- 27:43loading up Walters gate and having that great of a time.
- 27:46You know what I mean? Like, I really just don't.
- 27:49Yeah. Which is a shame because I think
- 27:51he truly would have a lot of fun just in getting the character
- 27:54stuff going right. I think that's a lot of fun for
- 27:57people. But I get it, you know, for some
- 27:59people that's they like this. I mean, I can say for certain
- 28:01that if you asked me to play this a year ago, I probably
- 28:03would have told you no. I would have been like, oh, it's
- 28:05like D&D nerd. I don't want to play that, like,
- 28:08but I started playing D&D at the beginning of the year.
- 28:11So I've been into it ever since because I like crafting stories
- 28:15and I like making great memories with you guys.
- 28:17When we play, you know, I've we got tons of clips of us saying
- 28:20just the dumbest stuff and sometimes we don't clip it and
- 28:22that's even better cuz it's like a little memory or whatever.
- 28:25But you know, I don't, I don't see Logan playing it either.
- 28:31I just wish he did, cuz I think he would be really good at it.
- 28:34Yeah, no, I think he would be too.
- 28:36But I just, like I said, I think with how the game is played, I
- 28:40think that the pace of which the game is also played and the pace
- 28:44it wants you to play at. It's not for everybody, and
- 28:48that's fine. I don't think it needs to be for
- 28:50everybody. I enjoy it because I enjoy D&DI,
- 28:54enjoy fantasy stories like this. I mean, I would love to see
- 28:57something like this 40K, you know?
- 28:58I mean like that would be fucking wild and who knows
- 29:01right? There could be a somebody might
- 29:03do a total conversion mod that turns it into Warhammer and they
- 29:06use AI to make the. I mean that's that's something
- 29:08absolutely that could happen. They were they were modding the
- 29:10game in Early Access like. I think we're gonna see a huge.
- 29:16Boom of Baldur's Gate clumps. You're going to have some people
- 29:23trying to emulate it. You're going to have some people
- 29:25going after it that will, because at the end of the day,
- 29:28think of it this way, like, this is a market of people that might
- 29:32be desirable to some other developers, right?
- 29:34So they want to get in on it. So they're going to do something
- 29:36that's similar, but like we talked about in the Spawn camp
- 29:40Discord a week ago or so, right when the game had come out, we
- 29:44were talking about stuff like this.
- 29:45And Brody brought up a great point of, you know, it's their
- 29:49companies and they're beholding to to shareholders.
- 29:51So Larian has a unique position. Like he said, I know I'm going a
- 29:56little bit businessy with it, but basically Larian.
- 29:58Could have it For context though.
- 30:00Larian, Larian could afford to do this like it was a big risk,
- 30:04but it pulled up. Let you know they pulled it off
- 30:05and and you can not only feel that they pulled it off because
- 30:08they were smart about what they did but there's a lot of love
- 30:10and what they did too which is the best.
- 30:13That's also why I think people are so drawn to it is it's like
- 30:15oh it's from a developer that's not unknown.
- 30:18They have made plenty of great games prior.
- 30:21This one is huge for them. It's like D&D it's got a lot of
- 30:25different options. It's funny it's it looks great
- 30:28and the gameplay like you said is not forever.
- 30:30Just the game in general is not for everybody, but you know, the
- 30:33gameplay itself, I think for what it is, is fun and makes it
- 30:36work and you have that appeal to it and people go, oh, but they
- 30:42did all those things and they did it because they wanted to
- 30:45and they liked it and they had fun with it and it.
- 30:47You can feel that when you play the game.
- 30:49It's like, yeah, that's why people are drawn to it as well.
- 30:52Because every other game feels like a just a corporate clone.
- 30:56Like, OK, send this one out into the death pit and see what it
- 30:58does, You know, maybe it'll do good, maybe it won't, but who
- 31:01cares? We got the next one coming
- 31:02anyway. Right.
- 31:04And that's which is funny. This is so far.
- 31:05It's funny because we just talked about Call of Duty at the
- 31:07beginning of this and I'm kind of excited for it, but so I'm
- 31:10perpetuating the problem. But.
- 31:12You get what I'm saying? Call of Duty is Call of Duty.
- 31:13Been playing that for how, how long?
- 31:15But 20 years. That's the the anniversary.
- 31:19There you fucking go man. There's just, there's a lot to
- 31:20be soaked for with Baldur skate. Yeah, I'm excited to finish
- 31:24Story. And with that being said, is
- 31:28there anything more you wanted because?
- 31:30What my plan is obviously is do this this at this half hour
- 31:33episode for you guys and then when we do the full review, it's
- 31:38not it's gonna be I have a minute.
- 31:41I think it's gonna be almost a two hour episode.
- 31:43That would be fun. I'd be down for it.
- 31:45Me and Brody, yeah. So you guys, you guys can expect
- 31:49for the actual review of Baldur's Gate in super in depth.
- 31:53Our our plays them like our play throughs themselves.
- 31:56I think we should talk about that when we actually review the
- 31:58game. Our classes, what we did and
- 32:03that will be the episode. I'm excited for you guys to
- 32:05hear. But this episode I just wanted
- 32:07to talk a little bit about like, hey, no, what you're seeing is
- 32:12real. This game is the real deal.
- 32:15You should spend the seventy 60-70 bucks to play this game if
- 32:18you if you are into this type of thing, and it will suck your
- 32:22time away and you will get sucked in the virtual space as
- 32:25well. And if you're and if you're, you
- 32:27know. Somebody playing off?
- 32:28Really, I thought it was funny, but thank you.
- 32:32If you are somebody who's playing on like a PC and you're
- 32:35getting it through Steam or Good Old Games.
- 32:38I believe good Old games has a return policy as to Steam.
- 32:41So if you want, I'd say go through the character creator
- 32:44really quick, get into game, play the tutorial area and see
- 32:47if you think of, like, what you think of it, and if you like it,
- 32:49keep going. If not, turn it off, return it
- 32:52like it's no harm, no foul. Right.
- 32:54So I think a lot more people will get into this game if they
- 32:57could look past maybe just some of the gameplay stuff, you know,
- 33:00Right. I think once you get past that,
- 33:02because for me that's the most difficult thing is I'm a, I'm a
- 33:04guy who plays primarily shooters and stuff like that.
- 33:06So there's a lot more thinking involved in this game, which
- 33:09yes, I'm trying to say that I'm a caveman and I know how to
- 33:12shoot things when I don't know how to.
- 33:13I don't know how to do a lot of the stuff in here and that's,
- 33:16but that's been part of the fun learning curve that it provides
- 33:18is it really makes you open up your your mind to the different
- 33:22possibilities of how you can win a fight too.
- 33:24You know, you think from my perspective, just to wrap it up,
- 33:29I write, I look at the characters and see they have
- 33:31weapons and I go, I want to use those weapons.
- 33:32But I don't think that I can push a barrel down a, you know,
- 33:37ramp or something like that and it's got a bunch of wine in it.
- 33:39And then I can use a different character that has a fireball to
- 33:42basically make the whole thing explode.
- 33:44You know, you don't think about that stuff all the time.
- 33:46And then you eventually just kind of go, well, I can't win it
- 33:50just by hitting them with a sort of bunch of times.
- 33:52I got to be a little bit more creative.
- 33:54Yep. So it's been truly amazing and
- 33:57I'm very, very, very thankful for the experience Larry and has
- 34:01given me. That's where I'm leaving that
- 34:03at. Same here.
- 34:05I feel that. All right, guys.
- 34:07Yeah, Like I said, we just wanted to get a quick little
- 34:09episode in to not miss a week. And to kind of give you guys our
