- 0:18Speaker 1: Turner Glory podcast Leonard Garbinicky Austin throws the code of
- 0:21Speaker 1: free tag immediate reaction to the Nebraska Michigan game just ended,
- 0:28Speaker 1: probably less than two minutes ago.
- 0:30Speaker 2: Michigan takes one on the road, forty nine to forty six. Yes,
- 0:37Speaker 2: forty nine to forty six was the final score.
- 0:42Speaker 3: That's with free throws at the end boosting those numbers.
- 0:48Speaker 4: Either team can make a lick all night.
- 0:52Speaker 1: Layups.
- 0:52Speaker 4: It did not matter layups, outside shots, mid range, nothing.
- 0:56Speaker 4: Neither team can make anything.
- 1:00Speaker 5: Credit good defense to that.
- 1:02Speaker 6: It can be both.
- 1:03Speaker 7: Yes, I thought that Brass played really good defense, actually,
- 1:06Speaker 7: especially that second half. Like I don't remember many wide
- 1:12Speaker 7: open shots Michigan had. There's a couple they hit at
- 1:15Speaker 7: the end there, but they defended really well both both teams.
- 1:23Speaker 3: I mean, that's I probably agree, But there's also part
- 1:27Speaker 3: of it. So if you just start hitting and shots,
- 1:29Speaker 3: your defense is going to look pretty good.
- 1:33Speaker 2: I I initial thoughts like, uh, that would have been
- 1:40Speaker 2: the big one off and helped not quite lock but
- 1:44Speaker 2: seal the deal for Attorney bid. And like Michigan's a
- 1:49Speaker 2: good team, they're not great. It's I think it's frustrating
- 1:53Speaker 2: some of the things we do on offense at times still,
- 1:56Speaker 2: but in that game, I mean, we defended our asses
- 1:59Speaker 2: off Michigan did not look like the number whatever. They're
- 2:03Speaker 2: a fifteen team in the country by any means, So
- 2:06Speaker 2: I don't know, I'm like mixed emotions of we played
- 2:10Speaker 2: so well, but yet that was a game that gosh,
- 2:14Speaker 2: if we would have just I mean, we had opportunities
- 2:16Speaker 2: there late the season, had a great look.
- 2:21Speaker 5: Not too long earlier.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Bryce Williams had a great look on the baseline on
- 2:25Speaker 2: nim bounds play that. I mean, you talk about guys
- 2:28Speaker 2: that normally make those kind of shots now to say
- 2:32Speaker 2: the same thing. Both, like Dack said, both teams were
- 2:36Speaker 2: missing like point blake shots. The rim as well was
- 2:39Speaker 2: zero for ten and hey.
- 2:42Speaker 6: How about.
- 2:44Speaker 7: Yeah being the both halves though, how did they get
- 2:47Speaker 7: Burk a wide open three? Well, well, not why but
- 2:51Speaker 7: a good three both ends and halfs.
- 2:53Speaker 2: I mean, he's though, right, like he's the he's the athletic,
- 2:57Speaker 2: but Paul was super athletic, but just mobile big man
- 3:01Speaker 2: that can still shoot a three and have a chance
- 3:05Speaker 2: of it going in. Yeah, I mean that was impressive
- 3:06Speaker 2: too from Hoiberg. To get those up, that's a tough
- 3:12Speaker 2: one to lose. It just it stinks because it really
- 3:18Speaker 2: could have been the one that.
- 3:21Speaker 5: Chopped it up.
- 3:22Speaker 2: And but now we still hear I mean, I still
- 3:25Speaker 2: think we gotta win.
- 3:28Speaker 5: Two more. Probably.
- 3:31Speaker 2: I think I think we got some very i mean
- 3:34Speaker 2: not ranked teams. So but it's a big ten, right
- 3:37Speaker 2: like it's Indiana beat beats Purdue. Indiana is now back
- 3:42Speaker 2: in the bubble conversation. We do have the head to
- 3:44Speaker 2: head over them, so that helps. It's just one of
- 3:49Speaker 2: those leagues that every night is gonna be tough, regardless
- 3:53Speaker 2: of where you're at, and you know, taking advantage of
- 3:55Speaker 2: your home games. It's huge, and we didn't tonight, but
- 4:00Speaker 2: we did play a ranked team and battle with them
- 4:03Speaker 2: all might gosh.
- 4:10Speaker 6: I mean, I think even if you win two, it's not.
- 4:12Speaker 3: If we have beat Michigan, I feel like it's almost
- 4:15Speaker 3: a lock.
- 4:18Speaker 6: But even if we win too, I don't think.
- 4:21Speaker 5: It's a lock.
- 4:24Speaker 7: I don't know they had him as a Tennessee tonight.
- 4:29Speaker 7: I don't think they dropped. They might drop two an
- 4:33Speaker 7: eleven seed projection after this game, but I think I
- 4:36Speaker 7: think for sure to you are a lock.
- 4:39Speaker 4: Now. Now the big one is Minnesota home.
- 4:43Speaker 7: You cannot lose that one because that will drop you
- 4:45Speaker 7: a big time because Minnesota is not good.
- 4:49Speaker 2: Yeah for sure in it being at home, Yeah, I
- 4:53Speaker 2: would anticipate us being five six point favorites in that one,
- 5:00Speaker 2: especially being at home. I back to this.
- 5:03Speaker 5: Michigan game, but we haven't.
- 5:07Speaker 2: We haven't talked basketball officials. Let's talk basketball officials. Let's
- 5:12Speaker 2: talk basketball officials.
- 5:16Speaker 6: What do you want to talk about? Hunter?
- 5:17Speaker 4: What?
- 5:18Speaker 5: What? What?
- 5:18Speaker 3: How?
- 5:18Speaker 2: What?
- 5:19Speaker 4: Just?
- 5:19Speaker 5: How do we think the officials were tonight?
- 5:22Speaker 3: Not good?
- 5:25Speaker 6: They? I don't know. If I didn't go that far.
- 5:30Speaker 6: I thought it was an average performance.
- 5:32Speaker 3: You know, their moments are frustrated, but I'm sure there
- 5:35Speaker 3: Michigan fan, there are also moments are frustrated.
- 5:38Speaker 7: I mean, I mean, there's a reason why I was
- 5:39Speaker 7: so low scoring. It was the offense to but the
- 5:41Speaker 7: rest let him play.
- 5:43Speaker 2: That's what I was gonna say. I don't think especially
- 5:46Speaker 2: basketball officials. I mean, there's so many calls in the game.
- 5:50Speaker 2: It was a physical blood pass, especially on rebounds.
- 5:56Speaker 4: I mean, I.
- 5:58Speaker 2: You watch some of those, I mean plays that balls
- 6:00Speaker 2: were going out of bounds. I mean just looking at
- 6:02Speaker 2: those in the slow motion. But that was happening all game,
- 6:05Speaker 2: especially on when the shot go was up, like guys
- 6:09Speaker 2: were just drilling each other, which yeah, I mean there's
- 6:13Speaker 2: gonna be a lot of bodies flying around. That's how
- 6:15Speaker 2: the game was called. It was consistent both ways.
- 6:17Speaker 3: I thought, oh yeah, and you look at the free
- 6:20Speaker 3: throws Michigan at thirteen we had twelve.
- 6:22Speaker 6: You know, it's not And I think.
- 6:24Speaker 2: The first free throws came in the first half, like
- 6:28Speaker 2: thirteen or fourteen minutes into the game.
- 6:30Speaker 5: Like it it was. It was, and that's fine.
- 6:33Speaker 2: I don't think there's any complaint on how they called
- 6:36Speaker 2: the game. That's just that type of game that was
- 6:39Speaker 2: called the night and I mean obviously by some of
- 6:41Speaker 2: those guys.
- 6:43Speaker 5: That have done a lot of Big ten games over
- 6:45Speaker 5: the years.
- 6:45Speaker 6: So just the way it was.
- 6:47Speaker 3: The question is, I guess, do those games favor us
- 6:50Speaker 3: or not? I mean, we our offense kind of lives
- 6:52Speaker 3: with the free throw line a little bit with Bryce,
- 6:57Speaker 3: but also our offense isn't great, so we need to
- 6:59Speaker 3: keep them most scorings.
- 7:00Speaker 6: Then we have better physical defense.
- 7:03Speaker 7: Yeah, I think yeah, I think it really favors Nebraska
- 7:05Speaker 7: because you ain't gonna You're not gonna.
- 7:08Speaker 4: Get win any shootouts with this team.
- 7:12Speaker 3: Right, but we're not going to shootout with anyone. All
- 7:14Speaker 3: of our points not all of our points, but a
- 7:16Speaker 3: lot of our points come from criving to the basket
- 7:20Speaker 3: getting free throws.
- 7:21Speaker 2: Yeah, we's a that's a good point. I think defensively,
- 7:25Speaker 2: are are no middle effort based type philosophy. Definitely, you
- 7:34Speaker 2: gain more when you're able to I mean any defense
- 7:36Speaker 2: he gains more when you're allowed to be more physical.
- 7:38Speaker 2: But I think art especially helps with that. I just
- 7:42Speaker 2: felt like offensively, we just could not get anything going
- 7:46Speaker 2: inside the three point line. I mean, you know, Michigan's
- 7:49Speaker 2: got two seven footers like I get that, and that.
- 7:52Speaker 6: Makes get anything going outside the three point line either.
- 7:55Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 7:55Speaker 2: And then and then when you're not making shots like
- 7:59Speaker 2: six or twenty, that doesn't bode well.
- 8:07Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 8:09Speaker 7: I also don't think Nebraska shot selection is very good
- 8:11Speaker 7: on that. Like Brook was throwing up terrible shots around
- 8:15Speaker 7: the room, and Stead and Jawan was Jean was just
- 8:18Speaker 7: driving from the room thrown up crap too, it was.
- 8:20Speaker 7: And then Morgan, see, I think Morgan was getting just
- 8:23Speaker 7: destroyed down load every night. I have time went up
- 8:25Speaker 7: for a basket and they called a couple of them,
- 8:27Speaker 7: but he was getting just decked all night.
- 8:29Speaker 6: It was.
- 8:29Speaker 2: It was physical like at the rim and jan Jawan
- 8:33Speaker 2: does that and Juwan get very good at knowing how
- 8:37Speaker 2: to get contact. Yeah, like there, I mean, this is
- 8:40Speaker 2: officiating right. If if there's a fifty to fifty call
- 8:43Speaker 2: on one end against you, like when you have the ball,
- 8:47Speaker 2: you go attack because you're getting the next fifty to
- 8:50Speaker 2: fifty call. And Jawan usually, I mean, he's good at
- 8:53Speaker 2: identifying when those opportunities are and he did that a
- 8:55Speaker 2: couple of times a night. But it just they weren't
- 8:57Speaker 2: calling anything at the rim. I mean, every fifty to
- 9:01Speaker 2: fifty was not a foul. And again not that anything
- 9:04Speaker 2: wrong with that, just the way the game was called.
- 9:06Speaker 2: But that takes someone like Juan Gary kind of out
- 9:08Speaker 2: of the game when that's what his strength is is
- 9:12Speaker 2: at the rim, rebounds, finishing, drawing fouls around there, and
- 9:15Speaker 2: when you put two seven footers, it makes it hard
- 9:19Speaker 2: for him to have an impact on the game. And
- 9:22Speaker 2: Bryce did his thing when he needed to. It just
- 9:27Speaker 2: felt like, especially their late second half when Michigan went
- 9:32Speaker 2: on their eight to zero run to take the six
- 9:34Speaker 2: point lead. Offensively, we just weren't getting anything.
- 9:40Speaker 3: But you looked at the game and we got the
- 9:44Speaker 3: open three point shot we needed with whatever it was
- 9:47Speaker 3: three seconds left in the game.
- 9:50Speaker 2: We crawled our way back and we did and it
- 9:53Speaker 2: was there like and a season has had another rough night.
- 9:56Speaker 2: Like I don't know, part of part of me does
- 10:01Speaker 2: want Bryce to attack there at the end, but hell well,
- 10:04Speaker 2: you can't complain about a season getting shooter getting a
- 10:08Speaker 2: wide open, uncontested three because it wasn't like completely uncontested,
- 10:12Speaker 2: but pretty damn close.
- 10:13Speaker 6: It was pretty damn close.
- 10:15Speaker 2: You get late close out for sure, and you know
- 10:19Speaker 2: Bryce was attacking it.
- 10:21Speaker 5: With the d M numbers, I mean, it would have
- 10:22Speaker 5: been one on two or three. I don't know.
- 10:25Speaker 2: The rest would have bailed them out on anything there.
- 10:27Speaker 2: So I mean three points, Yeah, we were down three.
- 10:32Speaker 2: We were down one at that point that we were
- 10:33Speaker 2: down one.
- 10:34Speaker 3: Oh, you're right, you're right, we were only down one
- 10:36Speaker 3: at that point.
- 10:40Speaker 7: I don't know about you guys, but it feels like
- 10:42Speaker 7: a season has been offered quite a while here.
- 10:46Speaker 1: To me.
- 10:47Speaker 4: I feel like I.
- 10:48Speaker 6: Feel that way about everyone on offense episode of Bryce.
- 10:52Speaker 2: Yeah, I just I mean, Connor Connor is very I
- 10:57Speaker 2: mean a lot of those guys, Connor.
- 10:58Speaker 5: Is very streaky.
- 11:02Speaker 2: I think, you know, in those games that we win,
- 11:05Speaker 2: I just him, but we see production out of different guys.
- 11:08Speaker 2: He's one of them that needs to be a little
- 11:09Speaker 2: more consistent for us to win some games here down
- 11:16Speaker 2: the stretch. I would say he's a big one offensively.
- 11:18Speaker 2: You know, some of those other guys aren't offensive players,
- 11:21Speaker 2: and that's well known to the team too.
- 11:23Speaker 5: I think Raleigh, like.
- 11:27Speaker 2: I don't know if he wants to be or he's
- 11:28Speaker 2: been told or coached and that's kind of his thought.
- 11:32Speaker 2: He just seems to be a little more aggressive, which
- 11:35Speaker 2: I'm not a huge fan of, but that might be
- 11:38Speaker 2: just that's the next person that needs to be out
- 11:40Speaker 2: there to create especially with Barri Kay being coming off
- 11:43Speaker 2: an injury, not playing the past few games, obviously rough
- 11:48Speaker 2: today in his first game back. I don't know who
- 11:51Speaker 2: that next person is. It's got to be Connor on offense,
- 11:53Speaker 2: for sure. It's who it's got to be. But when
- 11:55Speaker 2: he's not there, I mean, where's next?
- 11:58Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 12:03Speaker 3: Also, not game related, so it's supposed to be a
- 12:07Speaker 3: blackout tonight PBA. The student section did well, but if
- 12:11Speaker 3: you saw shots of the rest of arena, it's like,
- 12:13Speaker 3: come on, guys, we could have. It was a pretty
- 12:15Speaker 3: weak blackout outside of the student section. I was a
- 12:18Speaker 3: little disappointed.
- 12:24Speaker 2: Yeah I didn't. I didn't look too close. But we
- 12:27Speaker 2: gotta we gotta, we gotta sink the jerseys up. We
- 12:29Speaker 2: gotta synk them up with the I know we were
- 12:31Speaker 2: the home team.
- 12:34Speaker 3: I'm sure you could wear black jerseys at home. Well,
- 12:39Speaker 3: I just think the breast does a careful job at
- 12:42Speaker 3: color outs.
- 12:43Speaker 6: They're just.
- 12:46Speaker 7: What deck Saturday supposed to be a stripe out. So
- 12:48Speaker 7: we'll see how that goes.
- 12:50Speaker 6: Yeah, are you going?
- 12:54Speaker 7: Oh yeah, yep. I they never play on Saturdays. They finally,
- 13:01Speaker 7: they finally are gonna play on Saturday.
- 13:03Speaker 4: I gotta go to that.
- 13:08Speaker 3: Right half the entertainments of baby race. So if your
- 13:14Speaker 3: ones ready for the gambling, I was gonna.
- 13:17Speaker 5: Say, Dak Dak should join him.
- 13:19Speaker 4: Yeah, all got up, got there. Probably lose and they're kidding.
- 13:26Speaker 5: I don't know any I mean, any any other initial
- 13:29Speaker 5: Michigan thoughts.
- 13:30Speaker 3: I I don't know. We were only I mean Michigan's
- 13:34Speaker 3: only favorite by one and a half. We played them
- 13:37Speaker 3: as well as we could have. Obviously our offense wasn't clicking,
- 13:41Speaker 3: But did I don't think any of us thought we
- 13:44Speaker 3: were gonna win. I guess I should. I didn't think
- 13:46Speaker 3: we were gonna win. I expected us to lose. I
- 13:50Speaker 3: could be tight and that is to lose at the end.
- 13:52Speaker 3: And that's kind of where it ended up, which makes sense.
- 13:54Speaker 3: I mean, they're they're a really good team.
- 13:58Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 13:59Speaker 7: I thought there was one guy, I know you didn't
- 14:01Speaker 7: even much offensively, but I thought, me defend his ass
- 14:04Speaker 7: off against their seven. What's the stem fitter's name from?
- 14:09Speaker 7: I can't he came with he came with Dusty Maye.
- 14:12Speaker 4: What's his name?
- 14:15Speaker 5: I know, yeah, I don't know his name.
- 14:16Speaker 4: But anyway, me at defend his ass off against him.
- 14:19Speaker 4: I thought.
- 14:19Speaker 5: That's what's hard though, is me as is a.
- 14:23Speaker 2: Great defender, but he doesn't know is so clumsy on
- 14:27Speaker 2: the offensive end, and he's not a threat outside of
- 14:30Speaker 2: literally inside my feet, Like that's that's that's what's challenging.
- 14:35Speaker 2: I think one of the things I'm not sure if
- 14:37Speaker 2: you guys heard this, but that freend It said going
- 14:40Speaker 2: into this week was basically trying to cut his play
- 14:44Speaker 2: the playbook and half on offense.
- 14:47Speaker 6: Just what going into the last week of the year.
- 14:50Speaker 5: No yes and no.
- 14:52Speaker 2: I think is his concern was that there's so much
- 14:57Speaker 2: stuff that they're that they're shortening and fine tuning to
- 15:01Speaker 2: execute the stuff that they like the most here late
- 15:06Speaker 2: in the year. I mean that that's that's the that's
- 15:08Speaker 2: the approach or the take that I got off it
- 15:10Speaker 2: was they had so much stuff in that like they
- 15:12Speaker 2: weren't focusing on being good at anything.
- 15:15Speaker 5: It was just it kept adding, so like, I don't.
- 15:19Speaker 3: Have that Marcus sadderfield move Fred classic Marcus mo.
- 15:26Speaker 4: Yeah, boy if he cut that playbook and half Night's showed.
- 15:30Speaker 6: No kidding, this is what we do with half a playbook. Paybook.
- 15:34Speaker 4: Yeah wait that pull play book comes out.
- 15:39Speaker 2: I knew he lost a second of the TV showed Dylan, Yeah,
- 15:43Speaker 2: don't bring Husker football into basketball games.
- 15:46Speaker 5: Keep it away, keep it away, separate the.
- 15:49Speaker 6: Two, can't.
- 15:53Speaker 4: You could tell though, that crowd was ready to get
- 15:55Speaker 4: rocking but.
- 15:58Speaker 6: Shot at the end. You can just feel like they
- 16:00Speaker 6: were ready just absolutely freaking lose it. And there's.
- 16:05Speaker 5: It was such a good look.
- 16:09Speaker 7: Good part is it was a close loss to a
- 16:11Speaker 7: ranked team. I don't think it hurts. I mean, the
- 16:13Speaker 7: le interest see tomorrow what they come out as we won't.
- 16:16Speaker 5: We won't be out, but it just moves you closer
- 16:18Speaker 5: to that bubble line.
- 16:19Speaker 4: Yeah, you don't want to be in there.
- 16:20Speaker 5: You don't want to be in that bubble line. I
- 16:22Speaker 5: think you do. Take care of Minnesota and Iowa and
- 16:25Speaker 5: that Ohio State game kind of becomes a cherry on
- 16:27Speaker 5: the top.
- 16:28Speaker 4: Mm hmm.
- 16:30Speaker 5: But you got you gotta do that. And I don't
- 16:32Speaker 5: think this game said changes your opinion on either one
- 16:35Speaker 5: of those two games. It doesn't.
- 16:37Speaker 2: It It just maybe even makes you feel better that
- 16:39Speaker 2: we didn't get blown out by a ranked team. But
- 16:44Speaker 2: you take care of business, do your do what you're
- 16:46Speaker 2: supposed to, and not about that we're gonna for sure
- 16:49Speaker 2: gonna win or blow them out, but but you know,
- 16:53Speaker 2: be a small favor and play well. Like I think
- 16:57Speaker 2: we're gonna be in good in a good position, and
- 16:59Speaker 2: we shouldn't think we're Are we locked into making the
- 17:01Speaker 2: Big ten tournament. I think top fifteen make it, so
- 17:03Speaker 2: I think we're pretty danglous.
- 17:06Speaker 7: I thought we were locked Big ten eighteen and the
- 17:11Speaker 7: bottom or don't make it.
- 17:13Speaker 6: I think so.
- 17:14Speaker 5: I mean, you get that opportunity as well.
- 17:18Speaker 3: If we have we are seven and ten in conference play,
- 17:23Speaker 3: and there are one, two, three, four or five six
- 17:29Speaker 3: teams with the records worse than seven and ten, three
- 17:33Speaker 3: of them six and ten. Though, So I don't think
- 17:35Speaker 3: we're locked. If we lose our next three, we were out.
- 17:40Speaker 7: It just don't do that, I mean, ideally, it just
- 17:45Speaker 7: makes you go back and look at like those that
- 17:47Speaker 7: USC game and then there was one more in there
- 17:49Speaker 7: where you're like, ah, you wish you could win those
- 17:51Speaker 7: that that six game stretch is gonna kill you.
- 17:54Speaker 4: Don't make it.
- 17:55Speaker 2: Yeah, there's there's the ruggers at home we locked by
- 17:58Speaker 2: yeah that one girl and we locked by three that
- 17:59Speaker 2: you see at home we lost by five. And then
- 18:02Speaker 2: the Iowa game on the road that we lost by
- 18:04Speaker 2: ten and overtime.
- 18:06Speaker 6: Saying Mary's by four or same Mary's by three.
- 18:10Speaker 4: Yeah, produced by forty five.
- 18:13Speaker 6: By forty five Michigan State at some point lost by.
- 18:15Speaker 5: Probably a lot of those are like the blots.
- 18:18Speaker 2: I'm like, okay, like we clearly did not show up
- 18:20Speaker 2: to play and don't deserve to win that game anyway.
- 18:23Speaker 5: So it is what it is.
- 18:27Speaker 4: Hey, at least you walke Pen stayed up.
- 18:28Speaker 5: Though, Yeah, is that good?
- 18:33Speaker 4: No? No, everything they eat I don't think they've lost.
- 18:36Speaker 7: They're just killing things now.
- 18:42Speaker 2: Any pre or early favorites. So you guys like that
- 18:46Speaker 2: you're looking at for your brackets for the March badness.
- 18:52Speaker 5: You know.
- 18:52Speaker 6: I was just talking about this at work today and
- 18:54Speaker 6: I was like, I don't know, I don't even know.
- 19:00Speaker 3: I feel like Florida seems like a good one for
- 19:02Speaker 3: me personally, but like it it's a real crap. Shoot
- 19:05Speaker 3: there's any team that's dominating like it has the last
- 19:07Speaker 3: couple of years.
- 19:10Speaker 7: I mean, have you guys really got into college basketball
- 19:12Speaker 7: see much?
- 19:12Speaker 4: I was trying to this year. I have not watched
- 19:17Speaker 4: that much.
- 19:17Speaker 6: I haven't really watched a lot. No, I mean I've watched.
- 19:20Speaker 6: I'll watch highlights and then keep up with scores and records.
- 19:23Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I would say I don't get into
- 19:26Speaker 2: it till now though, Like I follow the Huskers and
- 19:29Speaker 2: then once football season's over, you flip the page to
- 19:33Speaker 2: watching college basketball now because that's all that's on. So
- 19:40Speaker 2: now it's kind of the time where I do start watching,
- 19:42Speaker 2: you know, the end of the year, Like right now,
- 19:43Speaker 2: I got Texas Tech Houston on. I knew both those
- 19:47Speaker 2: teams are decent, but uh, here's This is one thing
- 19:50Speaker 2: that I kind of like looking at, and I think
- 19:52Speaker 2: the guy on Twitter's names Ryan Hammer.
- 19:57Speaker 6: He has this.
- 20:00Speaker 2: Chart called the Trapezoid of Excellence and it ranks everybody.
- 20:07Speaker 5: On a pace scale.
- 20:10Speaker 2: It's a slow pace to fast paced and I'm not
- 20:12Speaker 2: sure exactly what that stat is and then their net rating.
- 20:19Speaker 5: From hid to low.
- 20:21Speaker 2: And what it does is it it basically groups a
- 20:26Speaker 2: bunch of teams and then there's this trapezoid at the
- 20:29Speaker 2: top where it has a lot of times it does
- 20:33Speaker 2: it makes sense like your top teams in the country
- 20:36Speaker 2: are a part in this trapazoid. But I think if
- 20:40Speaker 2: the stat is like every tournament winner in the past,
- 20:43Speaker 2: like twenty six years or something like that has fit
- 20:46Speaker 2: in this trapasoid, and there's like seven or.
- 20:49Speaker 5: Eight teams in it this year.
- 20:51Speaker 2: Duke, Houston, Tennessee, Texas Tech, Florida, Gonzaga, Maryland and Auburn
- 21:00Speaker 2: are the ones right now that are kind of sitting
- 21:01Speaker 2: in that line.
- 21:04Speaker 6: I mean, dude have probably the best player.
- 21:07Speaker 7: Yep, I was gonna sadly I'd say my favorite going
- 21:10Speaker 7: into Duke.
- 21:13Speaker 4: I mean, they just throttled Illinois.
- 21:16Speaker 5: Illis how about that?
- 21:18Speaker 2: Illinois says Hey let's play in this neutral side game
- 21:21Speaker 2: in the middle of season, like let's let's let's have
- 21:25Speaker 2: this you know, charity game and what's the worst thing
- 21:29Speaker 2: that could happen?
- 21:30Speaker 5: Get beat by forty? Oh that was funny. It's fun.
- 21:38Speaker 2: It's fun thing to look at because like teams like
- 21:40Speaker 2: Alabama obviously from a pace metric, are like very very high,
- 21:45Speaker 2: but their net rating isn't quite there. You know, Illinois,
- 21:49Speaker 2: Kentucky and are two other teams kind of in that category.
- 21:52Speaker 2: Then you have teams like you know, your Villanova's, your Virginia's.
- 21:57Speaker 2: Minnesota is another one that's over there.
- 21:59Speaker 4: It was this Drake and okay, Drake's really good actually.
- 22:04Speaker 5: But they don't have a high en it or they're
- 22:07Speaker 5: too slow. Like I don't know.
- 22:08Speaker 2: It's fun to look at, like and it changes throughout
- 22:11Speaker 2: the year, like teams that control the pace but adjusted
- 22:16Speaker 2: for their debt.
- 22:18Speaker 6: So I don't know.
- 22:19Speaker 2: I'm I'm a big Bruce Pearl fan. I like him
- 22:21Speaker 2: a lot, so I always like I root for Auburn.
- 22:23Speaker 2: I don't know why, but I just bind myself watching
- 22:26Speaker 2: games and rooting for Auburn. Another team that I find
- 22:31Speaker 2: myself rooting for is Texas Tech.
- 22:32Speaker 4: I don't know why, but I do guns up.
- 22:36Speaker 3: Sure Texas Tech had that good run a couple of
- 22:39Speaker 3: years ago. I guess I was.
- 22:43Speaker 7: And there's always a team you can't count out in
- 22:45Speaker 7: Michigan State, which I think they're actually really good this year.
- 22:50Speaker 7: But is though this time of here, he just starts cooking. Yeah,
- 22:53Speaker 7: they're they're playing well. I mean they're last year. I
- 22:56Speaker 7: think they were the ninth seed in the Big Ten Tournament,
- 22:58Speaker 7: believe it or not. Yeah, and then they won't eat it.
- 23:02Speaker 5: Still made it to the sweet sixteen.
- 23:04Speaker 7: Yeah, I was gonna say, didn't think I go on
- 23:05Speaker 7: a little run there yet.
- 23:08Speaker 4: I don't know. If I had to say it was
- 23:10Speaker 4: going on right now, i'd say, dude.
- 23:15Speaker 5: Is that pain you to say? Do you? Man?
- 23:18Speaker 4: Well?
- 23:21Speaker 7: No, I mean I don't have him as much I
- 23:22Speaker 7: did before coach k left, but I haven't watched much
- 23:28Speaker 7: of them.
- 23:29Speaker 4: I need to. He's not watching more college basketball.
- 23:35Speaker 6: It's pretty good. Who NBA is pretty good, you know.
- 23:39Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 23:39Speaker 3: If I don't watch more college basketball, watch Nebraska in
- 23:43Speaker 3: the tournament.
- 23:45Speaker 5: I do.
- 23:45Speaker 2: I I get into college basketball heavy here for about
- 23:48Speaker 2: the next month.
- 23:48Speaker 5: I am locked in.
- 23:52Speaker 2: Because I know I got NBA after that when playoffs,
- 23:56Speaker 2: that's true.
- 24:01Speaker 5: We got college football still. At least we can make it.
- 24:06Speaker 6: The limits of college football.
- 24:10Speaker 2: Well, the big breaking news and coming out of Lincoln
- 24:14Speaker 2: or maybe out of Knoxville.
- 24:18Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, Chattanooga, aren't.
- 24:21Speaker 4: They I think it's I think it's Knoxville?
- 24:24Speaker 6: Is it?
- 24:26Speaker 4: Well?
- 24:26Speaker 1: We are?
- 24:27Speaker 2: Game scheduled for twenty six and twenty seven at Sennessee
- 24:31Speaker 2: have been canceled, not postponed, but completely canceled. I think
- 24:36Speaker 2: Tennessee first announced it broke the news. There is it
- 24:40Speaker 2: there a d isn't Danny White their ad or that?
- 24:43Speaker 5: Just a media guy I don't know was.
- 24:45Speaker 2: Very upset with it in his post basically kind of
- 24:48Speaker 2: blaming us. And then we posted, you know, our two
- 24:51Speaker 2: cents on it. You know, said it was due to
- 24:55Speaker 2: stadium renovations.
- 24:59Speaker 5: I know a lot there. This is just where we
- 25:01Speaker 5: are with the football team and the football season, the offseason.
- 25:04Speaker 5: But there's a lot of opinions about this one way
- 25:08Speaker 5: or the other. It's the talk of the week, So
- 25:13Speaker 5: what are your thoughts.
- 25:15Speaker 3: I saw theory that Troy Danen was just trying to
- 25:18Speaker 3: get out of it because he believes the Big ten
- 25:20Speaker 3: and SEC are gonna start doing like a conference rivalry
- 25:26Speaker 3: cross conference rivalry, kind of like the ACC SEC Challenge
- 25:31Speaker 3: or ACC Big Ten Challenge. They're going to do that,
- 25:33Speaker 3: and so they're going to schedule. They're gonna honestly schedules
- 25:36Speaker 3: the SEC team. So he wanted to get rid of
- 25:38Speaker 3: the Tennessee game and then lock in some lower, easier
- 25:42Speaker 3: opponents before the SEC Big Ten conference. That's the That's
- 25:48Speaker 3: a theory that as a move to get and an
- 25:52Speaker 3: easier win on the schedule before having to play another.
- 25:55Speaker 6: SEC team that year.
- 26:00Speaker 4: It sucks.
- 26:01Speaker 7: I I get how much money they're gonna make have
- 26:05Speaker 7: another home game, but would you rather watch them my
- 26:09Speaker 7: Tennessee or who the bowling green they got now?
- 26:11Speaker 4: Or something like that? It sucks and and I'd like that.
- 26:16Speaker 4: I would have probably went Tennessee. That'd been awesome.
- 26:18Speaker 7: No, now we gotta watch Bowling Green, Dak.
- 26:23Speaker 2: You have the probably the typical Husker fans opinion with that.
- 26:30Speaker 2: I'm glad you did, because I I think most people
- 26:34Speaker 2: would say, well, I wanted and I'm not gonna lie Tennessee.
- 26:37Speaker 5: Would have been cool to go do.
- 26:38Speaker 2: Oh yeah, but guys, we gotta do everything we can
- 26:43Speaker 2: to get the most wins on our schedule in Tennessee's
- 26:46Speaker 2: not a win, especially when I looked at the at
- 26:48Speaker 2: the someone's picks to win at all the next two years,
- 26:52Speaker 2: and some guy at Tennessee in twenty twenty six, I said,
- 26:54Speaker 2: fuck that, Like we don't. We don't need to be
- 26:57Speaker 2: playing I get it, like you people will say, I
- 27:02Speaker 2: want to play the toughest competition. We need to play
- 27:04Speaker 2: a challenging opponent in the non conference.
- 27:06Speaker 5: I get it.
- 27:07Speaker 2: Actually I don't get it. I don't think that's true,
- 27:10Speaker 2: not in today's twelve team colle football playoffs. And that's
- 27:15Speaker 2: you know, some people are accusing Nebraska trying to get
- 27:18Speaker 2: the Indiana schedule.
- 27:19Speaker 5: Why the hell wouldn't you want to get the Indiana schedule?
- 27:21Speaker 6: They got it, they played in the playoffs, and teams
- 27:26Speaker 6: have had tough schedules, you know some of them didn't.
- 27:31Speaker 2: I just I just think in the current format and
- 27:34Speaker 2: obviously all the unknowns. Austin brought up theory number one
- 27:39Speaker 2: of ninety that could happen, like.
- 27:44Speaker 5: It's smart.
- 27:45Speaker 2: We don't need to be playing an extra opponent and
- 27:48Speaker 2: use whatever freaking excuse you can get. I mean, use
- 27:51Speaker 2: stadium renovations say that I don't care like Tennessee. Why
- 27:56Speaker 2: does Tennessee want to play them? Because if a for them,
- 27:59Speaker 2: it's a quote unquote tougher opponent that they know they
- 28:03Speaker 2: will be favored against and most likely have a good
- 28:05Speaker 2: chance to win. Like, no, shit, you'd want to play
- 28:07Speaker 2: us right now?
- 28:11Speaker 4: No, I don't know.
- 28:11Speaker 2: I thought it was super smart someone whoever made the decision,
- 28:14Speaker 2: or however get decided very smart. Nebraska's part, clearly it
- 28:18Speaker 2: was a one sided decision. What it sounds like where.
- 28:24Speaker 4: We have to pay?
- 28:25Speaker 2: Is it like a million dollars I think to get
- 28:26Speaker 2: out of it, which in the grand scheme of things
- 28:28Speaker 2: is nothing.
- 28:29Speaker 4: You're gonna make more than that. Have that home game?
- 28:32Speaker 2: So and yeah, Dad, I love to watch his beat
- 28:35Speaker 2: bowling Green over losing the tennis.
- 28:38Speaker 7: Right.
- 28:39Speaker 3: My first thought was as like, I don't really care,
- 28:42Speaker 3: you know, like I'm gonna watch us play the game.
- 28:45Speaker 6: I'd rather watch us wine.
- 28:48Speaker 5: I cared. I cared in a positive way, like I
- 28:51Speaker 5: cared like this is great, Like I think it's a
- 28:54Speaker 5: great move for several reasons.
- 28:59Speaker 2: Now, I did hear someone say on a different podcast
- 29:02Speaker 2: that they stay tried to they said, let's take a
- 29:06Speaker 2: step back and ask ask ourselves why do we care
- 29:11Speaker 2: about sports and the entertainment and everything, And they're like, well,
- 29:18Speaker 2: it's the play games like Nebraska, Tennessee and bring Back.
- 29:21Speaker 6: I'm like, is it.
- 29:24Speaker 2: Maybe, I said, maybe as fans, as as as players, coaches,
- 29:28Speaker 2: the whole industry.
- 29:29Speaker 5: Yeah, it is entertainment.
- 29:31Speaker 2: But shit, if you're looking at a one sided, selfish
- 29:33Speaker 2: Nebraska opinion, and I'd much rather give yourselves a little
- 29:38Speaker 2: bit better chance of making the culturable playoff than getting
- 29:41Speaker 2: your ass kicked by Tennessee when when you can be
- 29:45Speaker 2: playing Ohio and give yourself a pretty good shot, Like,
- 29:49Speaker 2: to me, that's more worth it as a fan for
- 29:52Speaker 2: an entertainment value perspective. So anyways, that that was my
- 29:57Speaker 2: two cents on it. I think Austin you know, mentioned
- 30:01Speaker 2: the theory of the SEC Big ten cross matchups that
- 30:08Speaker 2: could be coming. I think that could happen. I've also
- 30:11Speaker 2: heard ACC Big ten potential matchups. I've heard Big twelve,
- 30:17Speaker 2: Big ten, like all in the kind of the same
- 30:21Speaker 2: limelight of having cross conference games every year. There's obviously
- 30:27Speaker 2: the extreme of the Big ten and ACC or at
- 30:31Speaker 2: Big ten and SEC doing their own thing and going.
- 30:34Speaker 3: That route cross conference matchup and pit US up against
- 30:38Speaker 3: Oklahoma and nice EGW on the schedule would be great.
- 30:42Speaker 4: And it's coming up they play Oklahoma.
- 30:46Speaker 6: That's true, don't they? Nine?
- 30:50Speaker 4: I think nine eight, Yeah, somewhere in there.
- 30:55Speaker 2: I would not be surprised if games like that also
- 30:57Speaker 2: get postponed or canceled. I just think with the way
- 31:03Speaker 2: things are going and people are going to complain and
- 31:07Speaker 2: moan and groan about this ever changing college football world
- 31:13Speaker 2: that we live in.
- 31:15Speaker 5: Just get used to it like that.
- 31:16Speaker 2: That's all I'm gonna keep saying is right now, the
- 31:19Speaker 2: money's gone wild, and wherever the money goes is where
- 31:25Speaker 2: everything's gonna go.
- 31:26Speaker 4: And and.
- 31:28Speaker 2: As much as you can be upset that we're never
- 31:31Speaker 2: gonna get, but that's just that's where we're at.
- 31:34Speaker 5: That's what that's what it's moving to.
- 31:36Speaker 2: And there's really I don't think anything anybody can do
- 31:39Speaker 2: to stop it.
- 31:39Speaker 5: Like it's going to just completely look different here in
- 31:42Speaker 5: a few years.
- 31:43Speaker 2: It's going to change, probably over and over until eventually
- 31:48Speaker 2: the people that in power are satisfied. And I don't
- 31:52Speaker 2: I don't know when or how what would qualify that
- 31:55Speaker 2: to those people. I don't know, no idea.
- 32:02Speaker 3: Man I won't say that non con for twenty twenty six,
- 32:06Speaker 3: Ohio Bowling Green, North Dakota feels pretty good.
- 32:11Speaker 5: Well, that's good. I mean to me, that's good.
- 32:12Speaker 2: Like you want to talk about a year, a year
- 32:16Speaker 2: that you could hopefully think, you know, under the current structure,
- 32:20Speaker 2: we can go nine and breathe, you know, like that'd
- 32:25Speaker 2: be great.
- 32:28Speaker 4: Isn't isn't the Big ten schedule just brutal though that year?
- 32:31Speaker 6: Who's to say what's brutal?
- 32:33Speaker 4: Yeah, I guess you didn't think Indiana would be that good.
- 32:35Speaker 3: Let's say Indiana's on here, Maryland, Ohio State, Washington, Illinois, Iowa,
- 32:40Speaker 3: Michigan State, Oregon, Rutgers.
- 32:43Speaker 7: I guess, yeah, you never know. I mean, Indiana barely
- 32:45Speaker 7: beating the brass this year. But but yeah, you never
- 32:50Speaker 7: know who's gonna be good.
- 32:51Speaker 6: Michigan State might be good again. By then I might
- 32:54Speaker 6: fall off a cliff.
- 32:56Speaker 5: Hopefully, Yeah, I will.
- 32:59Speaker 2: Just I someone made this comment too, that we're lucky
- 33:03Speaker 2: that we're, you know, at least in the Big ten.
- 33:06Speaker 2: And someone was like, well, wait a second, if we
- 33:10Speaker 2: were still in the Big twelve, we might be one
- 33:12Speaker 2: of the best teams in the Big twelve. True as
- 33:15Speaker 2: far as just revenue and support in stadium atmosphere, like
- 33:23Speaker 2: put us put you in the pitts in Big twelve
- 33:24Speaker 2: right now, you're feeling pretty good about Nebraska in that
- 33:29Speaker 2: hierarchy of quote unquote power Now. The Big Ten obviously
- 33:32Speaker 2: has all the other media and revenue sharing rights that
- 33:36Speaker 2: they have, which also is why we're at where we're at.
- 33:40Speaker 5: In the Big Ten today.
- 33:43Speaker 2: But I think that that's also a pallid point. And
- 33:47Speaker 2: who knows all this talk about automatic bids now into
- 33:51Speaker 2: the playoffs, you know, whether it be four teams from
- 33:54Speaker 2: SEC Big ten, two from non Power five, like whatever,
- 33:58Speaker 2: that looks like, I don't know, and that's all gonna
- 34:02Speaker 2: continue to change and evolve.
- 34:05Speaker 5: We're in the Big ten.
- 34:06Speaker 2: Like, I've also heard the theory and someone threw this
- 34:08Speaker 2: out there that they could have a mini conference tournament
- 34:11Speaker 2: to end the year where the top six teams or
- 34:15Speaker 2: whatever of the Big Ten play in a conference tournament
- 34:18Speaker 2: for their automatic bids, or maybe it's the playing games
- 34:23Speaker 2: they get in. Like, there's all this stuff's going to
- 34:25Speaker 2: be thrown out their stops over the next few years, so.
- 34:30Speaker 5: Just hold tight.
- 34:30Speaker 2: I guess it's fun talking about, but it's also kind
- 34:34Speaker 2: of exhausting because you could spend hours trying to figure
- 34:38Speaker 2: it out and you're probably never gonna get right.
- 34:41Speaker 4: So but gott knocks, it would have been fun.
- 34:45Speaker 5: That would have been we can still go.
- 34:50Speaker 4: Who do they got now?
- 34:51Speaker 2: Kent State probably yeah.
- 34:54Speaker 6: But doesn't Miami of Ohio's ZNE pretty good too. I
- 34:58Speaker 6: guess it's at home.
- 35:00Speaker 4: I mean home game is still be fun, but.
- 35:02Speaker 2: It's true, it's another another another tailgate pod that we
- 35:07Speaker 2: gotta gotta do.
- 35:08Speaker 7: Yep, two years down the road. Well, we can't wait
- 35:13Speaker 7: for that one, oh know. I yeah, that's Do you
- 35:22Speaker 7: think it actually was for the money or were they
- 35:25Speaker 7: just like, we gotta get out of this, they don't
- 35:27Speaker 7: play Tennessee.
- 35:28Speaker 6: I think it was all of it.
- 35:31Speaker 3: It's like, why are we in this? We need We're
- 35:34Speaker 3: only gonna have three non conference games. If you win
- 35:36Speaker 3: nine games, you have a really good shot at making
- 35:39Speaker 3: the playoffs.
- 35:42Speaker 5: I don't know what the true reason, but I think
- 35:47Speaker 5: it works out for everybody. Like I don't think we
- 35:51Speaker 5: don't want to play Tennessee. I we don't want to.
- 35:53Speaker 2: As far as winning games and giving yourself a chance
- 35:57Speaker 2: to make a run of the college football playoffs, sometime
- 36:01Speaker 2: like you don't want to play tough opponents and you're
- 36:03Speaker 2: non conference when you're already playing a big ten schedule.
- 36:07Speaker 2: I'm just not a believer in that, especially when teams
- 36:12Speaker 2: like Indiana this year with what happened, like why why
- 36:15Speaker 2: why would you Arizona State, Boise State, Like look, look,
- 36:19Speaker 2: look at those teams. Did they stay the chance? Probably not,
- 36:22Speaker 2: but they've played in it. I guess at the first step.
- 36:26Speaker 7: There's just there's no plenty where with this full team playoff,
- 36:29Speaker 7: like with the four team you want to have those
- 36:31Speaker 7: big wins, and there's no point in playing big games anymore.
- 36:33Speaker 4: In you're on con.
- 36:38Speaker 5: I think it's okay.
- 36:42Speaker 7: Well, so once the update on the rile of weight Watch,
- 36:47Speaker 7: I'm glad you brought it up.
- 36:49Speaker 5: We gotta do.
- 36:50Speaker 2: We gotta do our last week of February campaign in
- 36:53Speaker 2: here for the d R fifteen Weight Watchers Challenge. He
- 37:01Speaker 2: I don't know, maybe his outfit maybe just up the
- 37:04Speaker 2: size and his outfit tonight but didn't look didn't look
- 37:08Speaker 2: as tight on him today.
