- 2:47SPEAKER_12: But no, it feels pretty good.
- 2:48SPEAKER_12: I bet.
- 2:49SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 2:49SPEAKER_12: It's been a long time coming.
- 2:50SPEAKER_12: It has been a long time coming.
- 2:51SPEAKER_12: But and you know, luckily, the district that I work for handles the tuition.
- 2:57SPEAKER_12: Yeah, that's yeah, that is good.
- 2:59SPEAKER_12: I have to pay for everything else.
- 3:00SPEAKER_12: I mean, it's which is you know, for every semester, it's it's a good three to five hundred bucks depending on the classes or whatever, but it's a lot better than what it w normally would be.
- 3:10SPEAKER_12: Oh, yeah.
- 3:10SPEAKER_12: So so I'm happy to be kind of uh through the woods on that.
- 3:15SPEAKER_12: Uh big week coming up.

- 3:46SPEAKER_15: Half a Tuesday.
- 3:47SPEAKER_15: Well, they're all they're only going half a Tuesday.
- 3:48SPEAKER_15: Half a Tuesday.
- 3:49SPEAKER_15: Also, we're the same.
- 3:50SPEAKER_12: Yep.
- 3:50SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 3:50SPEAKER_12: Yep, that's what we're doing as well.
- 3:52SPEAKER_12: So, so yeah, uh, you know, I don't even care about that because those are half days.
- 3:57SPEAKER_12: Or one of them's a half day, you know, and and even on Monday, which is a full day, I'm just gonna have fun with my Yeah, I was about to say that you're not gonna there's nothing gonna get done those two days in a while.
- 4:05SPEAKER_12: No, I'm not gonna teach them anything.
- 4:07SPEAKER_12: I'm just gonna say, hey, let's play jingle bells.
- 4:10SPEAKER_15: Hey, you guys see the Christmas story?
- 4:13SPEAKER_15: Sam! You're gonna learn now, boy.
- 4:17SPEAKER_12: Yeah, no, so I because uh put your eye out.
- 4:21SPEAKER_12: Friday, uh the 19th, that morning, is uh Christmas sing along at Mapleton, the Elementars.
- 4:26SPEAKER_12: Oh, okay.
- 4:27SPEAKER_12: So, and Jenna and I are doing that together.
- 4:29SPEAKER_12: So, you know, once that's done, it's smooth sailing from there.
- 4:33SPEAKER_12: Nice.
- 4:33SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 4:34SPEAKER_12: So uh and regarding the conversation we had last podcast about my uh Jazz band?
- 4:42SPEAKER_12: Jazz band and did you bring it up to the jazz band?
- 4:44SPEAKER_12: I didn't, I didn't.
- 4:45SPEAKER_12: I met with the jazz band tonight, today, actually, for the first time.
- 4:49SPEAKER_12: That was the first thing you thought of.
- 4:50SPEAKER_12: You were like skippy deepy.
- 4:52SPEAKER_12: No, I completely forgot about it.
- 4:53SPEAKER_12: I completely forgot about it, to be honest.
- 4:55SPEAKER_12: But um uh on my class uh tonight, I was telling my professor, I was like kind of venting to my f professors, I don't have a piano player for jazz band, I don't have a piano player for second semester of concert, uh I'm sorry, jazz choir, uh second semester of concert choir.
- 5:12SPEAKER_12: I I I you know I don't know what I'm gonna do.
- 5:14SPEAKER_12: And he just like nonchalantly says, Well, that's alright.
- 5:18SPEAKER_12: You have an a cappella choir.
- 5:20SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 5:21SPEAKER_12: And I was like, huh?
- 5:22SPEAKER_12: He's like, oh, those are my favorite kind of choirs.
- 5:27SPEAKER_12: And I'm like, you know, out of all the things I've been trying, I've been racking my brain trying to think of.
- 5:34SPEAKER_12: I didn't even think of that.
- 5:35SPEAKER_15: It's Acuman's Rachman's razor.
- 5:38SPEAKER_12: Achmann's razor, yeah.
- 5:39SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 5:40SPEAKER_12: I didn't even it didn't even cross my mind.
- 5:42SPEAKER_12: Just you know, music.
- 5:44SPEAKER_12: A because it's very zen.
- 5:46SPEAKER_12: Because of the abilities of the choir, for one thing, because we try and do things on cappella.
- 5:50SPEAKER_12: But I've got until May to tr to to teach them these things.
- 5:54SPEAKER_12: So it depends on what songs we pick.
- 5:56SPEAKER_12: I could and it's and it leans more pop in in the spring concert, you know.
- 6:01SPEAKER_15: I mean if they know the songs, right?
- 6:03SPEAKER_15: It should be no problem.
- 6:04SPEAKER_15: Um and if it's simple metal melodies, right, should be able to remember them pretty easily.
- 6:09SPEAKER_15: You would think?
- 6:09SPEAKER_15: Yeah, I would think.
- 6:10SPEAKER_15: I mean, you know.
- 6:11SPEAKER_12: But I did, I so I looked up in the in the uh the uh high high school choral library, and I have an a cappella version.
- 6:18SPEAKER_12: How cool would this be?
- 6:20SPEAKER_12: I have an a cappella version of Eric Clapton's Change the World.
- 6:24SPEAKER_12: Oh, that'd be cool.
- 6:25SPEAKER_12: Wouldn't it?
- 6:26SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 6:27SPEAKER_12: I want to look at that.
- 6:28SPEAKER_12: I want to see how that would that would go over.
- 6:30SPEAKER_12: I think I think that's an amazing that could be an amazing.
- 6:33SPEAKER_12: That would be great.
- 6:34SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 6:34SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 6:35SPEAKER_12: Like a as a closer.
- 6:36SPEAKER_12: Oh, yeah.
- 6:37SPEAKER_12: Change the world.
- 6:38SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 6:38SPEAKER_15: People would be like, you know, pulling out handkerchiefs and crying.
- 6:41SPEAKER_15: Right?
- 6:41SPEAKER_15: That's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.
- 6:44SPEAKER_15: That was the most amazing.
- 6:45SPEAKER_15: You know.
- 6:46SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 6:48SPEAKER_03: Uh-oh.
- 6:48SPEAKER_03: Who's calling?
- 6:52SPEAKER_12: It's either it's either the FBI.
- 6:54SPEAKER_12: Hold on, hold on.
- 6:55SPEAKER_12: It's either it's it's Oh, it's um it's June.
- 6:59SPEAKER_12: Oh, it's June.
- 7:00SPEAKER_12: Hey! Hey man! Hold on a second.
- 7:03SPEAKER_12: How do I uh uh he should be coming through here?
- 7:06SPEAKER_12: Oh, wait a minute.
- 7:08SPEAKER_12: Try that.
- 7:08SPEAKER_16: No, that's no, that's it.
- 7:11SPEAKER_16: How come you're not?
- 7:12SPEAKER_16: We're trying to figure out how to talk to you, dude.
- 7:14SPEAKER_13: Oh, okay.
- 7:15SPEAKER_13: Oh no, there we go.
- 7:16SPEAKER_16: No, you are, you are.
- 7:17SPEAKER_12: Oh, I just don't have it turned up very well.
- 7:18SPEAKER_12: There we go.
- 7:19SPEAKER_12: What's happening?
- 7:21SPEAKER_13: Oh, not much.
- 7:23SPEAKER_12: Did you know that you were gonna catch Russ on the podcast or no?
- 7:26SPEAKER_13: I didn't know.
- 7:27SPEAKER_13: No.
- 7:29SPEAKER_13: Well, you did.
- 7:30SPEAKER_13: It's a good surprise.
- 7:34SPEAKER_13: What's up?
- 7:36SPEAKER_13: Oh, not much.
- 7:37SPEAKER_13: I was just wondering if you or mom know how to uh put up wallpaper.
- 7:44SPEAKER_12: Uh I did a long time ago.
- 7:46SPEAKER_15: I haven't put up on wallpaper in I think last time I saw you put a wallpaper up was with the Mechanic Street House.
- 7:52SPEAKER_12: Yeah, it's been it's been years.
- 7:54SPEAKER_12: Why why you have a need to do that for the farm?
- 7:57SPEAKER_13: Uh we're thinking about putting it up on one wall.
- 8:01SPEAKER_12: Oh, we could we could help with that.
- 8:04SPEAKER_12: I think you're supposed to uh ideally you lick it and uh it sticks better.
- 8:10SPEAKER_10: Oh yeah.
- 8:12SPEAKER_12: See that look at it?
- 8:13SPEAKER_15: Yeah, yeah, no, he's like, yeah, so full of crap.
- 8:17SPEAKER_12: He's like funny, Dad.
- 8:19SPEAKER_12: That was really good.
- 8:20SPEAKER_12: That was funny.
- 8:21SPEAKER_15: Bring lots of water, stay hydrated.
- 8:27SPEAKER_13: All right, well, I'll I'll let you guys get back to the episode.
- 8:30SPEAKER_15: He's like, okay, you guys are no help whatsoever.
- 8:35SPEAKER_10: Thank you.
- 8:36SPEAKER_10: All right, man.
- 8:37SPEAKER_10: Love you.
- 8:38SPEAKER_10: Love you.
- 8:38SPEAKER_10: Love you, see, dude.
- 8:42SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 8:43SPEAKER_12: He's used the he's embarrassed.
- 8:45SPEAKER_12: You can see the look on his face.
- 8:46SPEAKER_12: He's, you know, he's yeah, he didn't know he was gonna be on the podcast, but that's okay.
- 8:51SPEAKER_12: Um so yeah.
- 8:53SPEAKER_12: What were we talking about?
- 8:55SPEAKER_12: Oh, my a cappella.
- 8:56SPEAKER_12: Yeah, yeah.
- 8:57SPEAKER_12: And I think it'll I think it'll be it'll, you know, and I'm not saying that that's gonna happen.
- 9:01SPEAKER_12: I mean, I could learn how to play piano and read piano.
- 9:04SPEAKER_12: Sure.
- 9:04SPEAKER_12: Um I don't really know how to play piano.
- 9:08SPEAKER_12: I do.
- 9:08SPEAKER_12: I don't really want to use tracks, I guess.
- 9:10SPEAKER_15: Yeah, tracks kind of lame.
- 9:12SPEAKER_12: So so but I I can't believe I never even considered a cappella.
- 9:15SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 9:16SPEAKER_15: And and what if we did like uh I mean they don't I mean I wouldn't say all of them have to be a cappella.
- 9:22SPEAKER_15: Well, I mean you could do some simple you know, piano work and do one or I don't know how many songs you have to do with like three.
- 9:28SPEAKER_12: Yeah, four, four or five, yeah, depending on, you know.
- 9:31SPEAKER_12: But I mean, like, what about like for the longest time, Billy Joel?
- 9:34SPEAKER_12: See, that'd be fun.
- 9:34SPEAKER_12: Right, wouldn't it?
- 9:35SPEAKER_12: Yeah, yeah.
- 9:36SPEAKER_12: I don't know.
- 9:36SPEAKER_12: Uh my my mistake is well, it's not really a mistake, but you know, I tend to uh include them in the process of picking the songs.
- 9:45SPEAKER_15: Oh, that's a mistake.
- 9:46SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 9:48SPEAKER_15: Can we do Taylor Swift?
- 9:49SPEAKER_15: Yeah, because they they want to do stupid stuff.
- 9:51SPEAKER_15: Yeah, they really do.
- 9:52SPEAKER_15: Come on.
- 9:53SPEAKER_15: Um so yeah.
- 9:56SPEAKER_12: So that's good news.
- 9:57SPEAKER_15: Well, fry I speaking of stupid songs, yeah.
- 10:00SPEAKER_15: Um in Simonoff's room, the kids put up like every day they put it, they have a little on the whiteboard.
- 10:08SPEAKER_15: Song of the day.
- 10:10SPEAKER_15: Sometimes there's a lot of times it's it's good stuff.
- 10:12SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 10:13SPEAKER_15: Well, the other day, I think I think the day I think it was all roustic.
- 10:17SPEAKER_15: I was filling in for them last Friday.
- 10:18SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 10:19SPEAKER_15: And they had this song on there called I can't remember what it was called, but it was Walk Off the Earth.
- 10:23SPEAKER_15: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 10:24SPEAKER_15: That band?
- 10:25SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 10:25SPEAKER_15: So I looked at it, I had to look it up because I knew I don't I don't know anything about it.
- 10:28SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 10:29SPEAKER_12: And I was like, this is what's the song?
- 10:30SPEAKER_12: What's the name of the song?
- 10:31SPEAKER_15: Oh I can't remember.
- 10:34SPEAKER_15: Uh if you say the name, I'll probably remember it.
- 10:37SPEAKER_15: Well, let me do this.
- 10:38SPEAKER_15: Um it was uh it was something really super simple.
- 10:44SPEAKER_15: Um probably still on here because I looked it up on uh YouTube music.
- 10:53SPEAKER_12: Uh Walk Off the Earth.
- 10:54SPEAKER_12: There's not the same as uh they're not the ones that sing Shut Up and Dance, are they?
- 10:57SPEAKER_15: No.
- 10:58SPEAKER_15: That's uh Walk on the Moon.
- 10:59SPEAKER_12: Walk on the Moon, yeah.
- 11:01SPEAKER_12: Walk off the Earth?
- 11:05SPEAKER_12: Here's what comes up first.
- 11:07SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 11:07SPEAKER_12: Somebody I used to know.
- 11:09SPEAKER_12: No.
- 11:09SPEAKER_12: The uh Beatles, Hello, Christmas, Stupid Heart, my stupid heart.
- 11:13SPEAKER_12: No.
- 11:13SPEAKER_12: Shape of you, I can't feel my face.
- 11:15SPEAKER_12: Oh, these are all covers.
- 11:17SPEAKER_12: Red hands, uh, I'll be there, trouble, whatever, cheerleader.
- 11:22SPEAKER_14: No, none of those.
- 11:26SPEAKER_14: I thought it would be on here, I guess.
- 11:28SPEAKER_14: Oh, maybe it'll be.
- 11:29SPEAKER_12: I can't feel my face.
- 11:31SPEAKER_12: Beautiful things.
- 11:32SPEAKER_12: These are all covers.
- 11:32SPEAKER_12: I didn't realize walk off the earth did covers.
- 11:35SPEAKER_15: Um it'll be here still.
- 11:40SPEAKER_15: Like in my search.
- 11:43SPEAKER_12: There aren't they a band that does like uh Well, I think it's like two people.
- 11:50SPEAKER_15: I think it's a band.
- 11:51SPEAKER_15: It's not here anymore.
- 11:52SPEAKER_14: Why is it not here?
- 11:54SPEAKER_14: I think it's a band.
- 11:55SPEAKER_14: I understand.
- 11:56SPEAKER_12: Yeah, they have it looks like they have an album out called Covers or something.
- 12:02SPEAKER_12: Uh Gang of Rhythm.
- 12:06SPEAKER_12: Five people, one guitar.
- 12:09SPEAKER_12: Closer.
- 12:11SPEAKER_12: Um, I I can't feel my feet.
- 12:13SPEAKER_12: These are covers.
- 12:14SPEAKER_12: Wow.
- 12:14SPEAKER_12: You go to YouTube and you type in walk off the earth, and all they have are covers.
- 12:18SPEAKER_12: I'm not sure.
- 12:22SPEAKER_12: Uh not payphone.
- 12:24SPEAKER_12: Material girl.
- 12:25SPEAKER_12: There's a lot of covers.

- 12:32SPEAKER_15: It was just like a song I'd never heard before.
- 12:35SPEAKER_12: Good company?
- 12:40SPEAKER_15: Not in my not in my search history, which Where would I be?

- 12:55SPEAKER_12: Uh Mom's Old Car.
- 12:59SPEAKER_12: Those are originals from Walk Off the Earth.
- 13:01SPEAKER_12: We're spending a lot of time on this.
- 13:03SPEAKER_15: Yeah, we are.
- 13:05SPEAKER_15: You know we have a lot to talk about.
- 13:07SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 13:07SPEAKER_12: Anyway.
- 13:10SPEAKER_12: So it was a stupid song?
- 13:12SPEAKER_12: It was a good song or a bad song?
- 13:14SPEAKER_15: I didn't really care for it.
- 13:15SPEAKER_15: I I mean I don't really know them.
- 13:18SPEAKER_15: But uh, no, I don't I can't remember what it was.
- 13:21SPEAKER_12: Yeah, no worries.
- 13:22SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 13:22SPEAKER_15: But anyway, so I st I've started to leave my own songs of the day.
- 13:28SPEAKER_15: Song of the day on the board before I leave.
- 13:31SPEAKER_12: This is great.
- 13:32SPEAKER_12: Yeah, so it's a way to do it.
- 13:33SPEAKER_15: So Friday I left uh because it was gonna be Monday.
- 13:35SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 13:36SPEAKER_15: Uh I don't like Mondays by Boomtown Rats.
- 13:39SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 13:39SPEAKER_15: So I forgot to do it today.
- 13:41SPEAKER_12: Do you think that they would look that up when they get into it?
- 13:43SPEAKER_12: I doubt it.
- 13:44SPEAKER_15: I don't know.
- 13:44SPEAKER_15: They might.
- 13:45SPEAKER_12: No one's Simon.
- 13:47SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 13:48SPEAKER_15: He might make them, you know, one of them.
- 13:50SPEAKER_12: That's pretty cool though.
- 13:50SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 13:51SPEAKER_12: You know, that's a good way to uh I don't know, kind of pique their interest in in di different kinds of music.
- 13:57SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 13:58SPEAKER_12: Have uh have Mr.
- 13:59SPEAKER_12: Doug, you know, leave uh you know leave a song of the day and then I gotta remember to do it tomorrow before I leave.
- 14:05SPEAKER_12: Simon off will look it up this time.
- 14:07SPEAKER_15: Because usually he leaves before I do.
- 14:08SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 14:09SPEAKER_15: So I you know, and then I sneak into his room and right.
- 14:14SPEAKER_15: So, you know.
- 14:16SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 14:16SPEAKER_12: Um all right, so we'll we'll kind of do that.
- 14:19SPEAKER_12: Good news and then bad news and then good news and then bad news.
- 14:22SPEAKER_12: Okay, we'll see.
- 14:22SPEAKER_12: Does that sound alright?
- 14:23SPEAKER_16: This is the bipolar podcast.
- 14:25SPEAKER_16: Right.
- 14:25SPEAKER_16: Yeah, so let's do this.
- 14:27SPEAKER_16: Um maybe.
- 14:30SPEAKER_12: Maybe a baby.
- 14:31SPEAKER_12: Maybe a baby.
- 14:32SPEAKER_12: I think I keep hitting paw uh play, then pause, and then it just and now it's not doing anything.
- 14:41SPEAKER_12: Oh no, it's playing.
- 14:42SPEAKER_12: I know why.
- 14:43SPEAKER_12: Because uh there was a commercial.
- 14:45SPEAKER_00: So gotta know you got somewhere to be, but the music's loud and the drinks talk cheap, don't need a That would be walk off the earth.
- 14:53SPEAKER_12: But anyway, this is what I was going for.
- 14:56SPEAKER_15: Ah yes.
- 14:58SPEAKER_12: Um a legend.
- 15:02SPEAKER_12: Who not only um was popular, a popular guitar player, producer, songwriter, uh played this song among many many others, was Booker T and the MGs, was uh he played with Sam and Dave.
- 15:16SPEAKER_12: Well, I mean, if you listen to Stacked Records, yeah, he's a session.
- 15:20SPEAKER_15: In the 60s, you heard, you heard, you heard him.
- 15:23SPEAKER_12: Yeah, he was a session player, he was a producer, he was a songwriter, uh, mad guitar player.
- 15:29SPEAKER_12: Movie star.
- 15:29SPEAKER_12: Movie star, yeah, because Blues Brothers.
- 15:31SPEAKER_12: Yep.
- 15:31SPEAKER_12: He was in the Blues Brothers.
- 15:32SPEAKER_12: Was he in the second one?
- 15:34SPEAKER_12: Uh yes.
- 15:36SPEAKER_12: I think he was.
- 15:37SPEAKER_12: I think he was.
- 15:38SPEAKER_12: Yep.
- 15:38SPEAKER_12: I think he was.
- 15:39SPEAKER_12: Um, but he was also, I mean, he uh sitting on the dock of the bed, he wrote with Otis Red.
- 15:45SPEAKER_12: Yep.
- 15:45SPEAKER_12: You know, and uh Steve Cropper is who we're talking about.
- 15:51SPEAKER_12: And just a giant uh in music that uh most people, uh younger people forgot about.
- 16:00SPEAKER_12: Oh yeah, you know, yeah.
- 16:01SPEAKER_12: Um but people our age and older.
- 16:04SPEAKER_12: Um actually he he's from a generation that's even older than we are.
- 16:08SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah.
- 16:09SPEAKER_12: You know, but we kind of we kind of dive back.
- 16:11SPEAKER_12: You adopted him.
- 16:12SPEAKER_12: Yeah, we we dive back you know into that that far off place.
- 16:18SPEAKER_12: Um because that's that's what you do when you're when you're a music fan.
- 16:22SPEAKER_12: You you you go for you look for the people that influence the people that you you enjoy.
- 16:28SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 16:28SPEAKER_12: And Cropper was one of those.
- 16:30SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 16:30SPEAKER_12: And and he was responsible for a lot of those uh early soul records.
- 16:35SPEAKER_12: Aretha Franklin.
- 16:37SPEAKER_12: I mean like Aretha.
- 16:39SPEAKER_12: He didn't do Aretha at all?
- 16:40SPEAKER_15: That was uh Swampers.
- 16:42SPEAKER_12: But that was Stax, though.
- 16:44SPEAKER_15: No.
- 16:45SPEAKER_15: Aretha wasn't Stax?
- 16:46SPEAKER_15: No, Aretha was Swampers.
- 16:47SPEAKER_15: She was uh muscle shoals.
- 16:49SPEAKER_16: Oh, you're right.
- 16:50SPEAKER_16: I always get that confused.
- 16:51SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 16:53SPEAKER_12: Because those were two different things.
- 16:54SPEAKER_15: Yeah, you I mean, Stax had, you know, Sam Dave, okay, Otis, okay, staplesingers, you know, you know, all them.
- 17:01SPEAKER_12: Right, right, right.
- 17:02SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 17:02SPEAKER_12: But still, I mean, played on a just a But he probably played on an Aretha record.
- 17:06SPEAKER_12: I bet you he did.
- 17:07SPEAKER_12: At some point.
- 17:08SPEAKER_12: Yep.
- 17:08SPEAKER_12: I bet you he did.
- 17:09SPEAKER_12: You know.
- 17:09SPEAKER_12: Um, but yeah, we lost him.
- 17:11SPEAKER_12: I mean, he obviously had lived a pretty good life.
- 17:13SPEAKER_12: I think he was a 84.
- 17:15SPEAKER_12: 84.
- 17:15SPEAKER_12: Something like that.
- 17:16SPEAKER_12: Yep.
- 17:16SPEAKER_12: Yep.
- 17:17SPEAKER_12: Um, and you know, heaven knows.
- 17:19SPEAKER_12: I don't think it was released as as to what he died of, but he was 84.
- 17:23SPEAKER_12: I didn't eat four.
- 17:24SPEAKER_15: Yeah, but I mean, he you know, he lived a good life.
- 17:27SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 17:27SPEAKER_12: So um Steve Cropper, rest in peace.
- 17:32SPEAKER_12: We'll put this in there just because it just happened.
- 17:35SPEAKER_12: Uh, Raul Malo, or Raul Malo, um from the Mavericks, lead singer and uh songwriter, and I think he played a couple instruments with the band as well.
- 17:46SPEAKER_12: He just recently passed away of cancer.
- 17:49SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 17:50SPEAKER_12: Um, and yeah, I don't want to go good news, bad news, good news, bad news.
- 17:55SPEAKER_12: Let's just do get all the bad news out of the way.
- 17:56SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 17:56SPEAKER_12: Michael Sweet of Striper.
- 17:58SPEAKER_15: Yeah, he's not doing well.
- 17:59SPEAKER_12: Uh well, I don't know if he's not doing well.
- 18:02SPEAKER_15: He's got he's got issues.
- 18:03SPEAKER_15: He's you know.
- 18:04SPEAKER_12: He uh was diagnosed with cancer.
- 18:07SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 18:07SPEAKER_12: Thyroid cancer, but uh I read his statement.
- 18:10SPEAKER_15: Yeah, he seems optimistic.
- 18:12SPEAKER_12: Yes, and so does his doctor.
- 18:13SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 18:14SPEAKER_12: So uh that's good.
- 18:15SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 18:15SPEAKER_12: So we're thinking of uh Mike Sweet.
- 18:17SPEAKER_15: I don't think this is his first time.
- 18:18SPEAKER_12: With cancer?
- 18:19SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 18:19SPEAKER_12: Oh, I didn't know that.
- 18:20SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 18:21SPEAKER_15: Um I think he had something similar before, if I if I remember right, but I could be wrong.
- 18:28SPEAKER_12: Um it's thyroid, I think is what's what it was.
- 18:31SPEAKER_12: So so uh we're thinking of Michael Sweet and rest in peace to Roll Malo and Steve Cropper.
- 18:36SPEAKER_12: I'm sure there's gonna be more.
- 18:39SPEAKER_12: There always is, you know, people our age or older.
- 18:42SPEAKER_12: We're losing our heroes.
- 18:43SPEAKER_12: We are, we're losing our heroes.
- 18:45SPEAKER_12: Um all right, so you can look at this as good news or not, but uh let me get to it.
- 18:57SPEAKER_12: Let me just go to uh Guns and Roses have released Wait, you said good news.
- 19:06SPEAKER_12: Well Guns N' Roses have released two new songs.
- 19:11SPEAKER_15: Oh, okay.
- 19:12SPEAKER_12: Um I'll allow it.
- 19:14SPEAKER_12: I've listened to both of them.
- 19:17SPEAKER_12: And it's unfair to s to really say anything, I I think.
- 19:26SPEAKER_12: Because they're not the same band.
- 19:28SPEAKER_12: No, no.
- 19:29SPEAKER_12: It's it's unfair to criticize.
- 19:32SPEAKER_12: And I don't know necessarily that I'm criticizing.
- 19:35SPEAKER_12: I just don't like them.
- 19:36SPEAKER_12: And that's okay.
- 19:37SPEAKER_12: I mean that's right.
- 19:38SPEAKER_12: I mean that's um it seems like they go nowhere.
- 19:43SPEAKER_12: Have you heard them yet?
- 19:44SPEAKER_12: No.
- 19:44SPEAKER_15: I have no idea.
- 19:45SPEAKER_15: I didn't I had no idea they had no songs out there.
- 19:47SPEAKER_12: Um It seems like Well, you know what?
- 19:52SPEAKER_12: I'm not even gonna I'll I'll just play it.
- 19:54SPEAKER_12: And you I'll play you the first one.
- 19:55SPEAKER_12: This one's called Atlas.
- 19:59SPEAKER_12: Oops.
- 20:00SPEAKER_12: It looks like I was already playing it, so let's do this.
- 22:00SPEAKER_12: I want it to go somewhere.
- 22:01SPEAKER_12: It's just not.
- 22:02SPEAKER_12: It's not.
- 22:03SPEAKER_12: It's not going anywhere.
- 22:17SPEAKER_12: And it just goes back to you know what he was doing before.
- 22:19SPEAKER_12: So I I uh that was called Yeah, that was Atlas, and I again I just I don't get it.
- 22:25SPEAKER_12: Uh and this one is called Nothing.
- 22:35SPEAKER_12: That's why this is why I say it's not really the same band.
- 22:45SPEAKER_05: It's nothing.
- 23:30SPEAKER_15: I mean, it's a little more interesting than the last.
- 23:32SPEAKER_12: I was just gonna say I do like this one better.
- 23:34SPEAKER_15: But it's still nothing.
- 23:36SPEAKER_15: It's nothing.
- 23:38SPEAKER_15: It's literally nothing.
- 23:39SPEAKER_15: I mean, it's no November rain.
- 23:41SPEAKER_15: Right.
- 23:41SPEAKER_15: You know what I mean?
- 23:43SPEAKER_12: At least it's not besides the keyboard, which I like the keyboard, uh, the guitar sound and the when they come in, yeah, it sounds like guns and girls.
- 23:52SPEAKER_12: You know what I mean?
- 23:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that song's way better than but still, but yeah, it still doesn't go anywhere.
- 24:05SPEAKER_02: There's no there's no um to it.
- 24:08SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 24:08SPEAKER_02: And now there's no fire.
- 24:12SPEAKER_12: I'm waiting for like a big melodic blast ball.
- 24:18SPEAKER_12: Maybe they're building to it right now.
- 24:31SPEAKER_12: Yeah, I definitely like this one better.
- 24:43SPEAKER_12: But still, you know, and and again, that's why I said when I hesitated to say, you know, they're they're not good, because I mean they are good.
- 24:52SPEAKER_12: It's just uh they're good-ish.
- 24:54SPEAKER_12: Yeah, they're good, and you know, and but there are different it's it's not the same band.
- 24:58SPEAKER_12: No.
- 24:59SPEAKER_12: I mean, you got what do you got?
- 25:01SPEAKER_12: Three of the three or three original members?
- 25:03SPEAKER_12: Duff, Axel, and Slash?
- 25:05SPEAKER_15: Yeah, I think I think that's it, right?
- 25:08SPEAKER_15: I don't think uh what Swarm's playing drums anymore.
- 25:11SPEAKER_12: No, no, I think they have somebody else.
- 25:14SPEAKER_12: I think those are the three uh remaining members.
- 25:17SPEAKER_12: And uh I read somebody somebody had commented that without Izzy they're not Guns N' Roses.
- 25:23SPEAKER_15: I don't know if that's true, but I don't think that's true, because he was really only on the first album.
- 25:27SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 25:28SPEAKER_12: Well, he was on Use Your Illusion too.
- 25:30SPEAKER_15: Was he?
- 25:30SPEAKER_12: I think so.
- 25:31SPEAKER_15: I don't think so.
- 25:31SPEAKER_15: I didn't think he was on that album.
- 25:32SPEAKER_12: Yeah, he was.
- 25:33SPEAKER_12: Uh he backed out after that.
- 25:35SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 25:35SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 25:36SPEAKER_12: Um pretty sure anyway.
- 25:38SPEAKER_12: Yeah, I'm pretty sure.
- 25:40SPEAKER_12: But I I do think and I do think he brought a a bunch to the table as far as songwriting and stuff like that.
- 25:45SPEAKER_12: But yeah, I I don't think it's true that without Izzy that they're not G and R.
- 25:51SPEAKER_12: Um I was never a huge G and R fan anyway.
- 25:54SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 25:54SPEAKER_12: But uh I I I think it's cool that there's new music.
- 25:58SPEAKER_12: I won't I won't.
- 25:59SPEAKER_15: Yeah, they're still I mean they're still going.
- 26:01SPEAKER_15: They're still going.
- 26:01SPEAKER_12: That says a lot.
- 26:02SPEAKER_12: Yeah, and they're they're perpetually on tour.
- 26:05SPEAKER_12: I think they've been on tour now for what, ten years?
- 26:08SPEAKER_12: Something like that.
- 26:08SPEAKER_12: Um they're selling them out, you know, and they're so you can't really argue with that.
- 26:13SPEAKER_12: So it's a way to do it, man.
- 26:15SPEAKER_12: Yep.
- 26:15SPEAKER_12: So two new Guns N' Roses songs, nothing and Atlas.
- 26:20SPEAKER_15: The best thing that could have ever happened to Guns N' Roses is they released Use Your Illusion one and two.
- 26:25SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 26:26SPEAKER_15: And then disappeared from the face of the earth.
- 26:28SPEAKER_12: That's true.
- 26:29SPEAKER_12: Except for Slash.
- 26:30SPEAKER_12: Well, then they uh they did the spaghetti incident, didn't they?
- 26:33SPEAKER_12: Was that well Chinese democracy, but wait, wait, was the spaghetti incident after use your illusion?
- 26:38SPEAKER_12: I think yeah, it was after that.
- 26:40SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 26:40SPEAKER_12: So they did those two albums, or the double album or whatever.
- 26:43SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 26:44SPEAKER_12: And then they did they took time off and then they did spaghetti incident.
- 26:48SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 26:49SPEAKER_12: And then they did Chinese democracy like ten years later, yeah.
- 26:52SPEAKER_12: Or whatever it was.
- 26:53SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 26:54SPEAKER_12: Uh which I don't do they play anything off Chinese democracy.
- 26:57SPEAKER_12: I doubt it, because the whole album sucked.
- 26:59SPEAKER_12: Yeah, and people people panned it.
- 27:01SPEAKER_12: Yeah, you know, anything.
- 27:01SPEAKER_15: So I mean, you know, whatever.
- 27:03SPEAKER_12: Uh yeah.
- 27:04SPEAKER_15: They should have just, you know.
- 27:06SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 27:06SPEAKER_15: Once you one and two came out, they should have just been like We're gonna go try everything.
- 27:12SPEAKER_15: Abducted by aliens or something.
- 27:13SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 27:14SPEAKER_15: You know, just go.
- 27:15SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 27:15SPEAKER_15: And then we would be and then we would it'd be like, oh, remember Guns N' Roses?
- 27:20SPEAKER_15: They're awesome.
- 27:22SPEAKER_15: Nothing bad ever happened, ever, with Guns N' Roses.
- 27:27SPEAKER_15: They didn't start a riot in Canada.
- 27:30SPEAKER_15: Right.
- 27:32SPEAKER_15: You know.
- 27:33SPEAKER_15: Axel didn't get drunk and storm off the stage many, many, many times.
- 27:38SPEAKER_15: That never happened.
- 27:41SPEAKER_12: Um also, I want to talk about so we're gonna talk about some new releases coming up in the next year.
- 27:48SPEAKER_12: We like to do that every once in a while.
- 27:50SPEAKER_12: We do.
- 27:51SPEAKER_12: Um, but I want to talk about some uh Maine in July next year is going to be lit up.
- 28:01SPEAKER_12: Oh yeah.
- 28:03SPEAKER_12: Um because all these concerts have been announced at Maine Savings Amphitheater.
- 28:09SPEAKER_12: Um and I just am like if I had the money Yeah, nothing and I would kind of have the time, although you know, I don't know how many of these fall on a Saturday, and the syndicate's probably playing somewhere.
- 28:22SPEAKER_15: Well, Weird Owl's on a Sunday.
- 28:24SPEAKER_12: Is it?
- 28:24SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 28:24SPEAKER_12: Okay, so just and I'm just gonna name a few of these that I would love to see.
- 28:31SPEAKER_12: The first one is Weird Owl.
- 28:33SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 28:34SPEAKER_12: July 19th in Bangor.
- 28:36SPEAKER_12: The the bigger and weirder 2026 tour.
- 28:40SPEAKER_12: I know.
- 28:41SPEAKER_12: I'm so jealous.
- 28:42SPEAKER_12: And then a few days later, July 23rd, this one I really want to go to.
- 28:47SPEAKER_12: I really want to go to.
- 28:48SPEAKER_12: Toto with Christopher Cross and the Romantics.
- 28:52SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 28:53SPEAKER_12: Um obviously I'd want to see Toto.
- 28:57SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 28:57SPEAKER_12: I love Christopher Cross.
- 28:58SPEAKER_12: Yep.
- 28:59SPEAKER_12: And the romantics.
- 29:00SPEAKER_12: I mean, uh here.
- 29:01SPEAKER_10: The secrets that you keep when you're talking and you sleep.
- 29:04SPEAKER_10: And what I like about you, right?
- 29:07SPEAKER_12: I mean, that would be a great show.
- 29:09SPEAKER_12: Absolutely.
- 29:10SPEAKER_12: Great, very nostalgic show.
- 29:12SPEAKER_12: Um July 25th, Motley Crue.
- 29:15SPEAKER_12: We've already talked about this.
- 29:16SPEAKER_12: I don't really want to see Motley Crue, but they have Tesla with them.
- 29:19SPEAKER_12: I've seen Tesla, they're great.
- 29:21SPEAKER_12: I don't need to see them again.
- 29:22SPEAKER_12: Sure.
- 29:23SPEAKER_12: But Extreme is opening for them.
- 29:25SPEAKER_12: And I have never seen Extreme, and I would love to see Extreme.
- 29:29SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 29:29SPEAKER_12: So that's July 25th.
- 29:31SPEAKER_12: And then July 31st, Joe Bonhamassa and Government Mule.
- 29:37SPEAKER_12: Now, Government Mule, I like.
- 29:39SPEAKER_12: Yeah, I I they end up being a jam band, which is okay.
- 29:43SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 29:43SPEAKER_12: But I really want to see Joe Bonamasa.
- 29:45SPEAKER_12: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 29:46SPEAKER_12: Um July.
- 29:47SPEAKER_12: That that's all in July.
- 29:49SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 29:50SPEAKER_12: Um, and I did tell I did tell my um 16-year-old it's his turn to go to a concert because I took Eli to Def Leopard last year.
- 29:59SPEAKER_12: Uh but he's into like newer country.
- 30:05SPEAKER_12: Finn.
- 30:06SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 30:06SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 30:07SPEAKER_12: So I said Riley Green is coming August 15th.
- 30:10SPEAKER_12: Oh, I'm there for that.
- 30:12SPEAKER_12: So I don't know what's gonna happen there.
- 30:15SPEAKER_15: So you're gonna go see Riley Green.
- 30:16SPEAKER_15: That's what's gonna happen.
- 30:17SPEAKER_16: Um I don't know.
- 30:18SPEAKER_12: I mean, he's got his own truck, maybe he can go.
- 30:21SPEAKER_12: Although I don't come on, Hannah! We're going to Riley Green.
- 30:24SPEAKER_12: Well, he can't take her.
- 30:25SPEAKER_12: He can't take her.
- 30:26SPEAKER_12: Oh, that's right.
- 30:26SPEAKER_12: He can't.
- 30:27SPEAKER_12: That's right.
- 30:28SPEAKER_12: So uh yeah.
- 30:30SPEAKER_12: But I I just think July in Bangor is gonna be pretty hardcore.
- 30:35SPEAKER_12: Dude, yeah, there's gonna be everybody's gonna be there.
- 30:37SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 30:38SPEAKER_12: So uh I don't know.
- 30:39SPEAKER_12: Oh, and then we uh we talked about um in February, Big Head Todd the Monsters.
- 30:45SPEAKER_12: Yep.
- 30:45SPEAKER_12: Where are they playing?
- 30:46SPEAKER_12: State State Theater is it State Theater?
- 30:48SPEAKER_12: I think so.
- 30:49SPEAKER_12: And then uh John Hayat and Lyle Lovett are coming in February as well.
- 30:53SPEAKER_15: Yeah, I I could care less about Lyle Lovett, but Right.
- 30:55SPEAKER_12: But John Haya.
- 30:56SPEAKER_12: John Haya, yeah.
- 30:58SPEAKER_12: And I think it's although it's probably acoustic, so we've already seen him acoustic.
- 31:01SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 31:01SPEAKER_12: But still, I'd go see him again.
- 31:03SPEAKER_03: I'd go see him again, too.
- 31:04SPEAKER_12: In a heartbeat.

- 44:52SPEAKER_15: I d I think about songs like Don't You Forget About Me by Simple Minds.
- 44:56SPEAKER_15: Oh, that's a great one.
- 44:58SPEAKER_15: From the 80s, or A Day in the Life from the Beatles in the 60s, and of course Stairway to Heaven from the 70s, and maybe Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit from the 90s.
- 45:07SPEAKER_15: There are just too many.
- 45:08SPEAKER_15: I don't think one song could represent our generation or time, but since I have to pick one, I will go with Welcome to the Jungle by Guns N' Roses.
- 45:16SPEAKER_15: Honorable mention to the streak by Ray Stevens, because that's a fad from Gen X that is still around today, and because I think it would be funny to play a thousand years from now and say that represents our time.
- 45:30SPEAKER_04: Great pick.
- 45:38SPEAKER_02: I mean, really.
- 46:02SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah, yeah, right?
- 46:04SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 46:05SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 46:08SPEAKER_12: They just finished a tour, I should say.
- 46:10SPEAKER_12: I I I uh was listening to Eddie Trunk, you know, our best friend.
- 46:14SPEAKER_12: Yep.
- 46:14SPEAKER_12: And uh he had Slash on.
- 46:16SPEAKER_12: This was back in like October, November, or something like that.
- 46:19SPEAKER_12: And they had just finished a tour Brazil.
- 46:20SPEAKER_12: And Slash made it sound like You know, that they never opened with jungle.
- 46:28SPEAKER_12: You know, because he's like, oh yeah, we're we're opening with Welcome to the Jungle, and it really is cool.
- 46:35SPEAKER_15: Yeah, that's never happened before, right?
- 46:37SPEAKER_15: I would think that's what you open with all the time.
- 46:40SPEAKER_15: I'm sorry, man, but this song is your bread and butter, right?
- 46:43SPEAKER_02: You know what I mean?
- 46:44SPEAKER_02: Well, sweet child of mine, but still, this one, this one.
- 46:47SPEAKER_15: I I you know, honestly, I think this is the one that put them on the I agree with that.
- 46:52SPEAKER_15: Sweet Child is just icing on the cake.
- 46:54SPEAKER_12: The video the video for this song scared the crap out of me.
- 46:57SPEAKER_12: I told them that.
- 46:58SPEAKER_15: This song, the first time you heard this song, you were like, these guys are total badasses.
- 47:04SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 47:04SPEAKER_12: You know what I mean?
- 47:05SPEAKER_12: I was afraid of Slash.
- 47:07SPEAKER_12: Because this came out in like '87.
- 47:09SPEAKER_15: Yeah, it was like 87, 88.
- 47:11SPEAKER_15: Yeah, we had to be around 87, 87.
- 47:13SPEAKER_12: So I was in seventh grade.
- 47:15SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 47:16SPEAKER_12: And I remember watching the video and he had the top hat and with his hair and you couldn't see his face.
- 47:20SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 47:20SPEAKER_12: I was like, holy crap, what is that?
- 47:23SPEAKER_02: That's a demon!
- 47:25SPEAKER_12: But uh, yeah, um, good pick.
- 47:28SPEAKER_12: Yeah, yeah, really good pick.
- 47:30SPEAKER_12: I agree.
- 47:30SPEAKER_12: What's yours?
- 47:31SPEAKER_15: Mine is uh is it's funny you brought up the Beatles, but I chose a different song.
- 47:35SPEAKER_15: I chose In My Life.
- 47:37SPEAKER_16: Oh, great song.
- 47:38SPEAKER_15: Because I think that's one of the absolute, not just one of the best Beatles songs ever written, but one of the best songs ever written.
- 47:45SPEAKER_12: I agree.
- 47:46SPEAKER_12: So yep, I agree.
- 47:48SPEAKER_12: Great choice, great song.
- 47:50SPEAKER_12: Probably one of, if not, my favorite Beatles song.
- 47:54SPEAKER_15: This is the song I want played at my funeral.
- 47:56SPEAKER_12: Is it really?
- 47:57SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 47:59SPEAKER_12: Note taken.
- 48:00SPEAKER_07: There are places I read.
- 48:03SPEAKER_07: You're gonna die on my life.
- 48:08SPEAKER_12: It's okay though, I have the song.
- 48:10SPEAKER_15: Just like you play a song, I don't care what you know.
- 48:13SPEAKER_12: Do you know what song I want played at my funeral?
- 48:15SPEAKER_12: No.
- 48:16SPEAKER_12: No?
- 48:16SPEAKER_12: I'll tell you in a minute.
- 48:17SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 48:23SPEAKER_16: That should be a topic, actually.
- 48:25SPEAKER_07: What?
- 48:26SPEAKER_16: What song do you want to play with at your funeral?
- 48:29SPEAKER_16: We'll do that next Halloween.
- 48:30SPEAKER_16: Okay.
- 48:35SPEAKER_07: I love them all.
- 48:39SPEAKER_12: I think I'm just gonna let this play until the George Martin piano.
- 48:42SPEAKER_12: Oh yeah.
- 48:42SPEAKER_12: Because that's sped up, you know that, right?
- 48:43SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 48:43SPEAKER_12: Yeah, you're what's a harpster card?
- 48:46SPEAKER_16: You know everything.
- 48:48SPEAKER_12: If I remember right.
- 48:49SPEAKER_12: I don't think it's a harpster cord.
- 48:50SPEAKER_12: I thought it was.
- 48:51SPEAKER_12: It doesn't sound like a harpster chord.
- 48:54SPEAKER_12: Oh wait, wait.
- 48:55SPEAKER_12: Let me listen to it.
- 48:56SPEAKER_12: Let me listen to it.
- 48:57SPEAKER_12: It might be a harpster cord.
- 49:01SPEAKER_07: Oh, I know I'll never lose a vegetable.
- 49:04SPEAKER_12: I just remember the story where like they said, George, can you or somebody said, can you do something?
- 49:09SPEAKER_12: Oh yeah, sure.
- 49:10SPEAKER_12: And he just like improvised it like right there.
- 49:12SPEAKER_12: Or something like that.
- 49:14SPEAKER_12: Are you looking it up?
- 49:15SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 49:18SPEAKER_12: Right here is what we're talking about.
- 49:37SPEAKER_15: Okay, we were both half right.
- 49:39SPEAKER_15: Okay.
- 49:40SPEAKER_15: He did play harpsichord, uh-huh.
- 49:42SPEAKER_15: But not on that song.
- 49:44SPEAKER_15: Okay.
- 49:44SPEAKER_15: He did on Because and Fixing a Hole while famously using a piano recorded at half speed.
- 49:54SPEAKER_15: Oh.
- 49:55SPEAKER_15: For the iconic solo and In My Life to achieve that, achieve that distinct baroque sound.
- 50:01SPEAKER_15: Okay.
- 50:02SPEAKER_15: He used real harpsichords, electric harp chords, and the half-speed piano trick to extensively to yeah, so.
- 50:07SPEAKER_15: Yep.
- 50:09SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 50:10SPEAKER_12: We just listened to the whole song.
- 50:12SPEAKER_12: Alright, you want my pick?
- 50:14SPEAKER_12: Yes.
- 50:14SPEAKER_12: Not many people like this song, but this is this is my pick.
- 50:18SPEAKER_12: Oh, yes! No.
- 50:24SPEAKER_16: Come on.
- 50:25SPEAKER_16: I mean, this is a history lesson.
- 50:27SPEAKER_16: It really is.
- 50:28SPEAKER_16: It's got the beat.
- 50:29SPEAKER_15: It takes you right from the 50s right up to the 80s.
- 50:32SPEAKER_15: Right.
- 51:05SPEAKER_12: Yeah, yeah.
- 51:30SPEAKER_12: I'm gonna play the whole thing.
- 51:31SPEAKER_12: So Billy Joel.
- 51:35SPEAKER_12: We didn't start the fire.
- 51:36SPEAKER_12: It's my pick.
- 51:38SPEAKER_12: The Beatles.
- 51:39SPEAKER_12: The Beatles in my life is Doug's pick.
- 51:43SPEAKER_12: Welcome to the jungle from GR is Cousin Larry's pick.
- 51:47SPEAKER_12: Yep.
- 51:48SPEAKER_12: This is a good week.
- 51:49SPEAKER_15: I think it is.
- 51:49SPEAKER_15: I think it's gonna be for a really hard question.
- 51:51SPEAKER_15: It was we got I think we got the best.
- 51:54SPEAKER_15: I do too.
- 51:54SPEAKER_15: This is some of the best answers we've ever had.
- 51:56SPEAKER_12: I think she's gonna have a hard time.
- 51:58SPEAKER_12: Oh yeah.
- 52:00SPEAKER_12: I know that she's kind of a metalhead, so I'm thinking she might go with G and R, which is okay.
- 52:04SPEAKER_12: Because they're all good choices.
- 52:05SPEAKER_12: They're all good choices.
- 52:06SPEAKER_15: I mean, you know.
- 52:07SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 52:07SPEAKER_15: So it's all up to misjudgness.
- 52:09SPEAKER_12: All up to misjudgeness.
- 52:12SPEAKER_12: All right, let's not forget this weekend.
- 52:14SPEAKER_12: Let's uh Okay.

- 52:20SPEAKER_12: A future question.
- 52:22SPEAKER_16: Cut.
- 52:23SPEAKER_16: Edit paste.

- 52:38SPEAKER_15: Probably before Christmas before Christmas.
- 52:40SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 52:40SPEAKER_11: So yeah.
- 52:42SPEAKER_15: So this is a holiday theme going.
- 52:44SPEAKER_15: Nice.
- 52:44SPEAKER_15: Okay.
- 52:45SPEAKER_15: A nice warm fire.
- 52:47SPEAKER_15: The smell of eggnog and delicious turkey wafting through the house.
- 52:51SPEAKER_15: A gentle snowfall quiets the neighborhood.
- 52:55SPEAKER_15: Best holiday song.
- 52:57SPEAKER_12: Oh best holiday song.
- 53:00SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 53:04SPEAKER_12: Best your favorite.
- 53:05SPEAKER_12: Best holiday song.
- 53:07SPEAKER_15: I guess the best is subjective song.
- 53:10SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 53:12SPEAKER_12: Because I don't know my favorite holiday song is.
- 53:15SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 53:16SPEAKER_12: But I'm the one that I'm thinking of is not my favorite.
- 53:22SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 53:22SPEAKER_12: It's great, but it's not my uh anyway.
- 53:25SPEAKER_12: Uh okay, so yeah, best holiday song that plays during that whole scenario.
- 53:29SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 53:30SPEAKER_15: That Norman Rockwell painting.
- 53:32SPEAKER_15: There we go.
- 53:33SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 53:34SPEAKER_12: So we're gonna take a break.
- 53:35SPEAKER_12: And um We're gonna go get pizza.
- 53:38SPEAKER_15: Are we?
- 53:38SPEAKER_15: We have chops to you upstairs.
- 53:40SPEAKER_12: Oh, that's true.
- 53:40SPEAKER_15: I've already.
- 53:42SPEAKER_15: I'm gonna say I've already eaten.
- 53:43SPEAKER_15: I walked in and I was like, hmm, that smells really good.
- 53:45SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 53:45SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 53:45SPEAKER_15: I made it myself.
- 53:46SPEAKER_15: There you go.

- 55:20SPEAKER_12: Yes.
- 55:21SPEAKER_12: Day before my birthday, actually.
- 55:22SPEAKER_12: Yes, it is.
- 55:23SPEAKER_12: Happy early birthday to you! Thank you.
- 55:27SPEAKER_12: Um but my birthday, because my birthday obviously is this Friday, and we always uh get our Christmas tree up on my birthday.
- 55:36SPEAKER_12: That's like a tradition.
- 55:37SPEAKER_12: We started probably, I don't know, ten years ago, fifteen years ago, whatever it was.
- 55:41SPEAKER_12: Um just because we don't w we we're we're too busy to, you know, decorate and stuff uh early for Christmas.
- 55:51SPEAKER_12: Sure.
- 55:52SPEAKER_12: So we just kind of pick it picked that day because it's pretty close to Christmas.
- 55:57SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 55:58SPEAKER_12: And it and we leave it up, you know, until a little after New Year's.
- 56:01SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 56:01SPEAKER_12: Um so so this this Friday we're gonna be decorating the tree on my birthday.
- 56:07SPEAKER_12: Um and probably watching a Christmas movie.
- 56:11SPEAKER_12: I don't know which one yet.
- 56:13SPEAKER_12: Um but it got me thinking, um you probably have pretty good insight when it comes to Christmas movies.
- 56:22SPEAKER_15: Oh yeah.
- 56:22SPEAKER_12: Yeah?
- 56:23SPEAKER_15: Yeah, I have great insight on everything.
- 56:26SPEAKER_12: Just ask me.
- 56:28SPEAKER_12: Just when I I could when I was building this whole segment up, I'm looking at you like I know you're thinking, what are you doing?
- 56:39SPEAKER_15: It's what our English teacher would call foreshadowing.
- 56:43SPEAKER_16: So what are we gonna call this segment, Doug?
- 56:46SPEAKER_16: Um we're gonna call it Doug's badly explained Christmas movies.
- 56:50SPEAKER_16: And what and what Christmas movie are we starting with, Doug?
- 56:53SPEAKER_16: Well, we're gonna start with uh the classic, It's a Wonderful Life.
- 56:57SPEAKER_15: Okay.
- 56:57SPEAKER_15: So um, so Jimmy Stewart is half deaf.
- 57:08SPEAKER_15: Drop my shortcut.
- 57:11SPEAKER_15: Uh so Jimmy Stewart's half deaf.
- 57:13SPEAKER_15: Uh he does something at a bank or something.
- 57:18SPEAKER_15: And he's kind of a loser-ish kind of guy.
- 57:21SPEAKER_15: But he's a super nice guy.
- 57:23SPEAKER_15: Everybody seems to like him.
- 57:24SPEAKER_15: And uh apparently he saved his brother from drowning.
- 57:29SPEAKER_15: Whatever.
- 57:31SPEAKER_15: And uh then he meets uh Donna Reed.
- 57:34SPEAKER_15: She's really hot.
- 57:37SPEAKER_15: And uh, you know, they fall in a pool at a dance, and then uh she gets naked.
- 57:44SPEAKER_15: She does?
- 57:45SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 57:45SPEAKER_15: Don't you remember when she cupped in the bushes?
- 57:47SPEAKER_15: She's covered up, yeah.
- 57:48SPEAKER_15: That's right.
- 57:48SPEAKER_12: Yeah, that's right.
- 57:49SPEAKER_15: But you don't get to see the good stuff.
- 57:51SPEAKER_15: Uh, but whatever.
- 57:52SPEAKER_15: And then uh, you know, so eventually, you know, you know, and then every bunch of stuff happens.
- 57:59SPEAKER_15: He wants to go to school, and he can't keep going to school because his dad died, and that sucks.
- 58:04SPEAKER_15: So he's gotta take over the business, and then uh something else happened, and then he marries Donna Reed, which is pretty awesome because she's really hot, and then they have some kids, and the kids are pretty cool, they're kind of dorks, but whatever.
- 58:18SPEAKER_15: It was the you know 20s or 30s, whatever it is.
- 58:21SPEAKER_15: And and then, you know, and then everything goes down because there's this really mean guy that's really rich and he runs everything, and uh he takes and he and and then his like uncle loses all their money, and uh he everybody's broke, and he and he he goes and gets drunk and gets in a fight, and and then he's on a bridge and he's gonna throw himself off the bridge, and then this angel comes down and jumps off the bridge first, and then Jimmy Stewart has to go find him and rescue him, and then the angel gives him his wish, like, I don't know, I was never born because I'm a loser.
- 58:52SPEAKER_15: Everybody hates me.
- 58:53SPEAKER_15: I gotta do anything right.
- 58:55SPEAKER_15: And the angel's like, Alright, dude, done.
- 58:58SPEAKER_15: All right, yeah.
- 58:59SPEAKER_15: And then they run around town, they even change the name of the town from what, Bedford Falls to Pottersville or something.
- 59:05SPEAKER_15: And he's running around town, nobody knows him.
- 59:07SPEAKER_15: And he's talking to him like they know like he knows him.
- 59:10SPEAKER_15: He's like, Jerry, it's me! And they're like, Who the hell are you?
- 59:16SPEAKER_15: Yeah, and he just runs around town and finally freaks out and he gets back on the bridge.
- 59:21SPEAKER_15: He's like, I want to be born, and then bang.
- 59:24SPEAKER_15: And then he goes home, and then everybody brings him money and everything at the end.
- 59:32SPEAKER_15: Yeah, so it's a lot, it's a lovely movie.
- 59:36SPEAKER_15: I would highly recommend it.
- 59:39SPEAKER_12: I could not help but think.
- 59:43SPEAKER_12: If my daughter out in Ohio listens to this podcast, uh, this episode because Does she like that movie?
- 59:49SPEAKER_12: No, no, no.
- 59:50SPEAKER_12: One of her co-workers started their own podcast.
- 59:54SPEAKER_12: Oh, right.
- 59:56SPEAKER_12: Called Real Meaning, R-E-E-L.
- 59:59SPEAKER_12: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 1:00:00SPEAKER_12: The movie podcast.
- 1:00:01SPEAKER_12: Finding meaning in the movies that shape us.
- 1:00:02SPEAKER_12: Yep.
- 1:00:03SPEAKER_12: And he also has another thing called It's Pizza Movie Night.
- 1:00:07SPEAKER_12: Uh, Faith Family and the stories we share.
- 1:00:12SPEAKER_12: And they're really nice little things about movies.
- 1:00:16SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 1:00:18SPEAKER_15: And you just did that.
- 1:00:19SPEAKER_15: And then I come along and crap all over it.
- 1:00:22SPEAKER_12: You didn't crap all over his podcast, but you just did.
- 1:00:25SPEAKER_12: I just crapped all in the movie.
- 1:00:26SPEAKER_12: You just dug.
- 1:00:27SPEAKER_15: I just dug.
- 1:00:29SPEAKER_15: I dug your movie.
- 1:00:35SPEAKER_12: Doug Dugs a movie.
- 1:00:36SPEAKER_15: Doug Dugs a movie.
- 1:00:41SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 1:00:43SPEAKER_15: Well, I literally watched it a couple weeks ago.
- 1:00:45SPEAKER_15: I was I was, you know, it was it showed up on Amazon.
- 1:00:47SPEAKER_15: I was like, oh, I'll watch it.
- 1:00:49SPEAKER_15: You know, because I hadn't seen it in a while.
- 1:00:51SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 1:00:51SPEAKER_15: And uh I really paid attention, as you can tell by my spot-on recounting of it.
- 1:00:58SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 1:00:58SPEAKER_15: And uh, but yeah, it's a great, I mean, it's a great movie.
- 1:01:01SPEAKER_12: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 1:01:02SPEAKER_12: We watch it every year.
- 1:01:02SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 1:01:03SPEAKER_12: So it's perfect.
- 1:01:04SPEAKER_15: So next week I'll I'll I'll dug another movie.
- 1:01:12SPEAKER_08: Oh two, two dogs.
- 1:01:16SPEAKER_12: I like that.
- 1:01:17SPEAKER_12: I dug a movie.
- 1:01:20SPEAKER_12: Alright, so uh I'm gonna climb the wall.
- 1:01:22SPEAKER_12: I'm gonna take off my headphones.
- 1:01:23SPEAKER_12: Alright.
- 1:01:24SPEAKER_12: And uh you will so you're gonna tell them what movie you're gonna pick next week, maybe?
- 1:01:27SPEAKER_12: I don't know.
- 1:01:28SPEAKER_15: Well, I think I'll do the uh another classic uh Christmas movie.
- 1:01:32SPEAKER_15: Uh Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.
- 1:01:35SPEAKER_15: So uh get prepare for that one.
- 1:01:38SPEAKER_15: That's gonna be fun.
- 1:01:39SPEAKER_15: Uh because we all know uh you know we all know the story.
- 1:01:46SPEAKER_15: I think.
- 1:01:47SPEAKER_15: Do people still watch that one?
- 1:01:49SPEAKER_15: They never updated it, did they?
