- 0:29What is going on, everybody?
- 0:31Welcome to the Clydesdale
- 0:33Media Weight Loss Journey.
- 0:34My name is Scott Switzer.
- 0:35I'm the Clydesdale.
- 0:36She is my nutrition coach, Cheryl Nasso.
- 0:39And we're here to have our weekly chat.
- 0:43And I've already been
- 0:44scolded coming into the episode.
- 0:49So, hey, Holly.
- 0:50Hey, Kenneth.
- 0:51Hey, Megan, Damian, Corey.
- 0:54Good to see you all.
- 0:56I'm looking at the chat,
- 0:57and I just can't help but
- 0:58just look at Damien's workout for today.
- 1:01Burpee box jumps and a rower.
- 1:03Just, man.
- 1:06You know, I just, before we get into you,
- 1:08I have to tell you,
- 1:09I revisited an old workout
- 1:11last week just for the fun of it.
- 1:15An old workout from Ben
- 1:17Bergeron that we did called Fortitude.
- 1:19It's a 30-minute EMOM.
- 1:22Odd minute is 15 calories on the rower.
- 1:25Even minute is 15 burpees for 30 minutes.
- 1:29And I'm sure people can now
- 1:31do more than that,
- 1:32but that was back then the standard.
- 1:34And I decided to do that last week,
- 1:36but I did it with burpees over the rower.
- 1:40So Damien, I feel for you, man.
- 1:44I think what's worse than
- 1:45rowing in burpee box jumps
- 1:46is echo bike or a salt bike
- 1:49into any box jump.
- 1:51You just...
- 1:53It just hurts.
- 1:54Hurts.
- 1:55We do this for fun.
- 1:56Yes.
- 1:57We do this for the experience.
- 1:59That's really what it is.
- 2:01You know, we say we do it for fun,
- 2:03but we don't.
- 2:04We do it because we have
- 2:06this sick thing in our
- 2:08brain that like loves the
- 2:10experience and being like, oh,
- 2:12that workout was so bad.
- 2:14Because y'all know that's what it is.
- 2:15We all want to be able to
- 2:16talk about what we did, you know?
- 2:19So just a little...
- 2:21actually goes very well into
- 2:23the journey that we're on
- 2:24right now with Scott is
- 2:26sometimes the journey is hard,
- 2:27but getting through the
- 2:29journey is what makes it worthwhile.
- 2:30Cause you have all the stuff
- 2:32to talk about and you've
- 2:33been going through some tough times.
- 2:35So let's shout out to, uh,
- 2:38Judy Reed and Aaron Frazier
- 2:41who jumped in the chat as well.
- 2:43So don't miss anybody.
- 2:45We got a good group.
- 2:46We got a good group.
- 2:46A lot of people rooting for
- 2:47you to get better.
- 2:48So, um, fill us in a little bit.
- 2:51You had your cardiologist
- 2:52appointment at EKG yesterday.
- 2:54No results yet.
- 2:56No results.
- 2:57I mean, I have the results.
- 2:58I don't know what they mean.
- 2:59Um, in my, um,
- 3:03My, my hospital has a, my chart app.
- 3:06So all the tests go right in
- 3:07there so I can see them all.
- 3:09I just don't know what any of it means.
- 3:11And I haven't heard from the
- 3:12cardiologist with yesterday
- 3:14being a holiday.
- 3:15I just don't know like when
- 3:17he'll be back in,
- 3:18but I am still in a fib for sure.
- 3:21The, they met with me before I left,
- 3:24told me that I am still in
- 3:25a fib and that a doctor
- 3:28will be in contact.
- 3:31I've,
- 3:32the doctor that saw me in
- 3:33the hospital is now my doctor,
- 3:35my cardiologist,
- 3:37and he'll be in touch with
- 3:38me for next steps.
- 3:40Yeah.
- 3:40What are your restrictions right now?
- 3:42Are they telling you that like,
- 3:43you shouldn't be moving around at all?
- 3:45Are they telling you like to
- 3:46kind of be sit sedentary, lay down,
- 3:48like work wise,
- 3:49are you able to go to work?
- 3:50Like what's that look like
- 3:51for you right now?
- 3:52Uh,
- 3:52so I've been back to work since Friday.
- 3:54Um,
- 3:57I have a sedentary job,
- 3:59so it's not like a lot of
- 4:01stress on any kind of movement.
- 4:03Um,
- 4:04they do not want me to raise my heart
- 4:05rate.
- 4:06Um, the stroke risk is just too much.
- 4:11And, um,
- 4:13until they get everything under control.
- 4:15it's all about eliminating
- 4:16the stroke risk.
- 4:18Got it.
- 4:18Okay.
- 4:19Uh, terms of, uh,
- 4:22like your lungs and breathing,
- 4:25is that getting cleared up?
- 4:26Are you feeling any better there?
- 4:28Yes.
- 4:29Um, much clearer.
- 4:30I can take a full deep breath now,
- 4:33which I couldn't, um, a week ago.
- 4:36Um, um,
- 4:39It's weird though.
- 4:40Like if I take a full deep breath,
- 4:42I immediately burp.
- 4:43And we've talked about that.
- 4:46It's been funny.
- 4:47I've had so many people
- 4:48reach out to me who've been
- 4:50through different things.
- 4:53They had me on metformin for
- 4:54the high sugar and it
- 4:56actually can cause burping.
- 4:59Yeah.
- 5:01And that might be,
- 5:02the issue there,
- 5:03but I see my new family doctor on Friday.
- 5:07So, um,
- 5:09we can talk about all that stuff
- 5:11and maybe there's a different medicine.
- 5:13Um, cause my sugar,
- 5:15I've got it down in the one fifties.
- 5:17It was at three 80 when I
- 5:19went in the hospital.
- 5:20Um,
- 5:20and they took me off all of the
- 5:22prednisone and then, um,
- 5:25I've been on insulin and
- 5:27metformin and really
- 5:29watching my diet and it has been
- 5:32It'd been one fifties average.
- 5:35Okay.
- 5:36What is it when you wake up
- 5:37in the morning?
- 5:38One 50.
- 5:39It's not moving much during the day.
- 5:41Okay.
- 5:42So after you eat and fasted,
- 5:46it's about the same or does
- 5:48it go up after you eat?
- 5:49So they have me take it when
- 5:51I wake up and before every, before lunch,
- 5:54before dinner and before bed.
- 5:55But not after dinner or not, not after.
- 5:57No.
- 5:58I was just curious what it was,
- 5:59if it was spiking at all after you ate.
- 6:01Just curious about that.
- 6:03I mean, out of curiosity,
- 6:05I could test it once.
- 6:06I'm just curious.
- 6:07I'm a dork about that kind of stuff.
- 6:10I know we had mentioned
- 6:11looking at the fat intake
- 6:12that that could also be
- 6:13some of the stomach discomfort.
- 6:16Did you work on in
- 6:18decreasing that a little bit this week?
- 6:19Looks like you did.
- 6:20I did.
- 6:23And my logging is a little
- 6:24bit off because I told you
- 6:26like the HelloFresh meals,
- 6:28they are a little bit higher in fat,
- 6:30but we take out a lot of the fat.
- 6:32in preparing them.
- 6:33Okay.
- 6:34Um,
- 6:34when it calls for like oils and stuff
- 6:36like that, we do not use that.
- 6:38Okay.
- 6:38Yeah.
- 6:39That's I,
- 6:39I hate the hello fresh meals
- 6:40because of that.
- 6:42They are so loaded in fat.
- 6:44I mean, they say, hello,
- 6:46this is the problem with marketing.
- 6:48Somebody that like is trying
- 6:49to eat healthier, right?
- 6:51You hear hello fresh.
- 6:53You think what these have
- 6:54got to be super healthy
- 6:55meals and granted some of them likely are,
- 6:59but
- 7:00I don't think that they're
- 7:01all very healthy.
- 7:02A lot of times they're using
- 7:03white flour breads and
- 7:05pastas and they're usually loaded in fat.
- 7:08And like you said,
- 7:09you're like not using it.
- 7:10But a person that's not
- 7:12paying attention is literally like,
- 7:14why am I eating healthy and
- 7:16not losing weight?
- 7:16Because your meal has a thousand calories.
- 7:19You might as well have had
- 7:20the burger and fries from McDonald's.
- 7:22You know, like it's a it's a part of,
- 7:25you know,
- 7:25so I really I honestly I know
- 7:26that they're fun for variety.
- 7:28But my opinion on those kind
- 7:29of meals is get the ideas,
- 7:32like get the ideas for the meals,
- 7:34but simplify and recreate, you know,
- 7:36and if maybe you want to
- 7:37have one or two a week
- 7:39because you want something
- 7:40a little bit different for variety.
- 7:42But I mean, I'm going to be honest, like.
- 7:44For instance,
- 7:45this is not taken on your diet,
- 7:46but I am a nutrition coach,
- 7:48but a chicken and biscuit pot pie.
- 7:50Chicken and biscuit pot pie.
- 7:52I have no idea what the ingredients are,
- 7:56but what am I picturing?
- 7:57I grew up making pot pie, and I love it.
- 8:02But it's typically going to
- 8:02be like a cream-based sauce,
- 8:05like something very heavy
- 8:06with like a pastry crust, you know,
- 8:09and there's like chicken.
- 8:10You know,
- 8:10so it's like I'm fine with the meals,
- 8:13but like just it does make it.
- 8:15I'm off on a tangent right
- 8:16now about this HelloFresh
- 8:17because it's something that people,
- 8:19even like the meal prep companies,
- 8:21you know, Clean Eats or whatever, have.
- 8:23ideal nutrition.
- 8:24They're all the same.
- 8:25It's like you pick a meal and you're like,
- 8:28oh, this must be healthy.
- 8:29Then you're still getting 800 calories.
- 8:32Just saying.
- 8:35It is better than just going
- 8:37and grabbing takeout.
- 8:38I'm not saying that.
- 8:41A little tangent.
- 8:42We only do two meals a week.
- 8:48Fat intake other than that day looks...
- 8:52lower for the most part let
- 8:54me see um yeah it's
- 8:57whenever you have the hello
- 8:58fresh meals it jacks your
- 8:59fat up like thursday your
- 9:01dinner had you know
- 9:0623 grams of fat and 70 carbs.
- 9:09And again,
- 9:09you're likely not using all of
- 9:11the ingredients,
- 9:12but I don't know what the
- 9:14source of those carbs are.
- 9:16Like where are those 70 carbs coming from?
- 9:19Was it pasta?
- 9:20Was it, uh, you know, what,
- 9:23what was it that night?
- 9:24Do you remember?
- 9:26I don't know.
- 9:27I don't remember what was posted.
- 9:28It was, it was pasta.
- 9:29Uh,
- 9:33Yeah.
- 9:33So again, I doubt they're using a,
- 9:35like a whole grain high fiber pasta.
- 9:37It's likely just a white flour pasta.
- 9:39Just not that I'm not
- 9:40demonizing those things,
- 9:42but like when I'm trying to like, Hey,
- 9:44let's kind of work on these little things,
- 9:45those types of things.
- 9:46And if it's only twice a week,
- 9:48that's fine.
- 9:49But just some things to
- 9:50watch out for as we were
- 9:50talking about fat intake,
- 9:52something for everybody to
- 9:53listen in on that is buying
- 9:55a lot of these types of things.
- 9:57Um,
- 9:59Lex, Carolyn, I made a shepherd's pie.
- 10:01Oh, by the way,
- 10:02I have a chicken pot pie recipe.
- 10:03That's pretty,
- 10:04pretty obviously macro macro friendly.
- 10:06I love that word.
- 10:07I actually hate that word or
- 10:09that terminology, but so, but just,
- 10:12just the example of what we
- 10:13do is like that pot pie,
- 10:16like it didn't have a bottom crust.
- 10:18It was just,
- 10:19and it was more with chicken
- 10:20broth than like a cream.
- 10:24And we didn't use all the
- 10:25biscuits on the top.
- 10:26Yeah.
- 10:27So we like cut back the carbs that way.
- 10:31You know,
- 10:31we don't use the oils they ask for.
- 10:34There's no need for it.
- 10:36Nothing sticks.
- 10:40The worst part is you really
- 10:42can't even like when you go
- 10:43on their website,
- 10:45you really can't even look
- 10:46at things beforehand.
- 10:49I think if I were you,
- 10:50I would probably when you're doing it,
- 10:53look at the fit and wholesome brand,
- 10:57but again, you can't choose.
- 10:59And I can't even look at
- 11:00that until I actually click to sign up.
- 11:05I'm on their website right now.
- 11:07I'll be honest.
- 11:08I would never have ordered the pop high.
- 11:10Um, but when I was sick,
- 11:12I didn't have time to go in
- 11:14and change the order for the week.
- 11:16So I just got what they gave us.
- 11:18Yeah.
- 11:18Um, so yeah, that's how that happened.
- 11:22Anyways,
- 11:22so just kind of watching out for
- 11:24the HelloFresh stuff.
- 11:25So your weight is trending
- 11:27back down a little bit.
- 11:28So we're kind of obviously medications,
- 11:31inflammation.
- 11:31I'm sure they gave you
- 11:32fluids in the hospital.
- 11:34They always pump you up with fluids,
- 11:35whether you're dehydrated or not.
- 11:38You didn't fill in your check-in form.
- 11:39I already got talked to you about that.
- 11:41That was one of our things.
- 11:42So how has your hydration been?
- 11:44Have you been drinking enough water?
- 11:45Oh, yeah.
- 11:47Okay, good.
- 11:49How has your sleep been?
- 11:53I mean,
- 11:54it's been better than it was before
- 11:56I went in the hospital.
- 12:00But I still wake up in the
- 12:01middle of the night,
- 12:02but I'm falling asleep at
- 12:03seven o'clock at night.
- 12:05So then I wake up at like
- 12:06one and I'm having a hard
- 12:08time falling back to sleep.
- 12:10And then I do like another
- 12:12like four to eight.
- 12:12Okay.
- 12:13Yeah.
- 12:14So a little bit disrupted.
- 12:15Um, all right.
- 12:18Um, all right.
- 12:19So a couple of questions I
- 12:20asked my clients on their
- 12:21check-in that you didn't answer.
- 12:22How did you win last week?
- 12:26How did I win last week?
- 12:27How'd you win?
- 12:29Um, give me a win.
- 12:32I've been completely
- 12:33compliant with my medicine.
- 12:34I've been, uh, tracking my food every day.
- 12:38Um, I've been trying to hit my targets.
- 12:43Um,
- 12:45I have a much more concerted
- 12:47effort toward my goals and
- 12:49me over the last week.
- 12:51I would agree.
- 12:52I would say you've gotten
- 12:53vegetables and you've been
- 12:55really winning.
- 12:56Like you've been winning
- 12:58things on my end here.
- 12:59I want to know physically, mentally,
- 13:03what you feel like has been
- 13:03your biggest struggle.
- 13:05I know the breath thing,
- 13:06I know the heart thing,
- 13:07but what has been the
- 13:08hardest thing for you this
- 13:09week with like compliance, with nutrition,
- 13:11with everything?
- 13:15just mental, just mentally not,
- 13:19not diving down in the hole.
- 13:22Um, I actually, Lex texted me yesterday.
- 13:25Um, like I,
- 13:28I've been doing Legos like to
- 13:30just kind of keep my, my mind free and,
- 13:34um, and do stuff.
- 13:37And I have a Chicago bears
- 13:39home that I'm working on now.
- 13:41Um, and that,
- 13:42and so I just do a little bit at a time,
- 13:44um,
- 13:45And I do that to keep my
- 13:47mind out of the bad places.
- 13:51You know,
- 13:51can I just tell you that your
- 13:52coach resonates with that?
- 13:55You know,
- 13:55I've got my own struggles and
- 13:58it's funny that you
- 13:59mentioned Legos because today I'm like,
- 14:01I got to start a puzzle.
- 14:04I like puzzles.
- 14:05Puzzles are good for me
- 14:06because I've been working
- 14:07on not filling every second
- 14:09of my day with work.
- 14:11I'm the kind of person,
- 14:13if there's a free moment,
- 14:14I should be filling it with something.
- 14:16And when I have idle hands,
- 14:18it's not comfortable.
- 14:20So I've been thinking about that.
- 14:22I like the Legos.
- 14:23That's kind of a cool thing.
- 14:24Yeah, I had some in my...
- 14:30like people got me for Christmas.
- 14:31Like I have the Chicago bear stadium.
- 14:33I have a helmet that I just
- 14:36hadn't gotten around to,
- 14:38and I'm just taking time
- 14:39for me to do that.
- 14:40Okay.
- 14:41Um,
- 14:41so struggles has just been mostly
- 14:43mentally,
- 14:44just like keeping yourself out
- 14:45of your head.
- 14:46I'll be, it's scary.
- 14:47It re it brings up whenever
- 14:48you had something going on
- 14:49with your health, like it's like,
- 14:52the problem feels amplified.
- 14:54It always feels amplified
- 14:56because it's like,
- 14:58you can't do anything about it.
- 14:59You know?
- 15:00And it's like, you're just,
- 15:01especially right now you're
- 15:02like in a waiting game and
- 15:04all we can really do in
- 15:05those moments is like,
- 15:07like you're doing like,
- 15:08what am I going to do?
- 15:09I can't, the more I worry about something,
- 15:12the crazier I get, you know,
- 15:13you just got to keep plugging along,
- 15:15you know?
- 15:16So I love that for you.
- 15:17So you're getting through this struggle.
- 15:19Um,
- 15:21Any specific questions for this week?
- 15:24That's the next one.
- 15:25One more struggle I had is
- 15:28when I saw the news about
- 15:31Myra Brandt from Training Think Tank,
- 15:33like with everything I've gone through,
- 15:35that really,
- 15:37really hit home and hit hard.
- 15:39That we don't have – we're
- 15:40not promised tomorrow.
- 15:42That's – when I saw that, I was like,
- 15:47you never –
- 15:49you never see those stories
- 15:51happening like in your life
- 15:53to somebody that you've met
- 15:55or experienced or been in contact with.
- 15:57And, and then when it happens,
- 16:00you just realize how precious life is,
- 16:03how like she had no,
- 16:07nobody has any idea that
- 16:10the next hour could be their last hour.
- 16:13And it truly like bringing
- 16:15tears to my eyes right now
- 16:16that literally at any moment,
- 16:20it could be done.
- 16:23And, and you're right.
- 16:24It's, it's, it's so important for us to,
- 16:28to take care of ourselves
- 16:29the best that we can, you know,
- 16:31like your life is worth so much more,
- 16:34you know?
- 16:34Um, I give myself that same advice and I,
- 16:39and I know that's what you were feeling.
- 16:40I was like, man,
- 16:41this could have been really bad.
- 16:43Like if, what,
- 16:43what if I didn't go to the
- 16:44hospital that day?
- 16:45Right.
- 16:45Like what, what if you didn't go?
- 16:47Like what would have
- 16:47happened if you're like, Oh, I'm okay.
- 16:50you know, but people it's,
- 16:52it's hard and it's really easy to,
- 16:55to just think if you're a,
- 16:58if you're a person that's
- 16:58very used to like just
- 17:00grinding through and
- 17:01pushing through and like
- 17:03feeling like shit, you just,
- 17:06you don't even realize how
- 17:08bad you feel because you're
- 17:10just grinding through.
- 17:11Like for instance,
- 17:11your blood sugar has
- 17:13probably been high for a
- 17:14long time and you probably had no idea.
- 17:18And that could have killed you, you know,
- 17:21like it's, but like, we don't even know,
- 17:24you know, so it's so important.
- 17:26In fact, it's, it's crazy.
- 17:27I,
- 17:28I'm due for a follow-up with my doctor
- 17:31and I, I, I called my doctor today.
- 17:34I did.
- 17:35I was like, you know what?
- 17:37You're not going to wait.
- 17:37You're going to go ahead and
- 17:38call him and you're going to get put,
- 17:40get some new labs run and
- 17:41see how things are looking.
- 17:42So I would say that was,
- 17:44I just feel for her family,
- 17:46for the everybody.
- 17:47I mean, it's just,
- 17:49it's crazy for sure.
- 17:50I know it's a tangent again, but,
- 17:52but that definitely mentally a struggle.
- 17:56Yeah.
- 17:59All right.
- 18:00How would you rate your
- 18:02effort this week towards your goals?
- 18:05I would give you a five.
- 18:07I would too.
- 18:08And by the way, guys,
- 18:09the scale is not one through 10.
- 18:13Are you weighing out your food?
- 18:16Yes.
- 18:17All right.
- 18:18Did you eat out at all?
- 18:20i don't think so I didn't
- 18:21see anything I did well I
- 18:22had I did have pizza friday
- 18:24night oh yes I did see that
- 18:26yeah I think that was the
- 18:28night I saw you didn't log
- 18:31that night yeah you logged
- 18:33your lunch but not your
- 18:33dinner okay um drinking
- 18:36enough water no alcohol no
- 18:39workouts I know step count
- 18:41I likely am going to guess
- 18:42is probably less than 2
- 18:43000. um are you currently menstruating
- 18:49Not currently.
- 18:50Not currently?
- 18:51Okay.
- 18:51Just making sure.
- 18:53Not due for another week or two.
- 18:55Okay.
- 18:55Gotcha.
- 18:57Have you had any significant
- 18:59changes in your hunger or
- 19:00your cravings this week?
- 19:05I would say my appetite is
- 19:06definitely back.
- 19:07Good.
- 19:08It was definitely gone for a few months.
- 19:14Now I'm trying to keep it down into...
- 19:18Um, the target you gave me,
- 19:19which I think is 18 something.
- 19:20Um, and I'm, and I'm not doing it.
- 19:23It's like 22.
- 19:25Well, I'm okay with that.
- 19:26Cause like if,
- 19:27if you don't lose a pound right now,
- 19:28but you're staying consistent,
- 19:30I'm fine with that.
- 19:31Like right now,
- 19:32the goal is if I have to
- 19:33give you a little bit more, I will.
- 19:34I'm also just trying to
- 19:36really work as much as I
- 19:37can on your insulin
- 19:38sensitivity because we
- 19:40can't get you moving.
- 19:41So this is a good for all of
- 19:43my diabetics out there.
- 19:44Um, anybody that deals with blood sugar.
- 19:47Okay.
- 19:48People like to focus on carbs.
- 19:51It doesn't matter.
- 19:53There is a time when carbs
- 19:54matter in terms of raising blood sugar.
- 19:56So if I'm only having carbohydrates, yes,
- 19:59that's going to spike my blood sugar.
- 20:00But what really we want to
- 20:02do when we're trying to
- 20:03bring blood sugar down is
- 20:05we've got to make ourselves
- 20:06more insulin sensitive.
- 20:08And to do that,
- 20:09if you are in a calorie deficit,
- 20:12that's going to make you
- 20:13more insulin sensitive
- 20:14along with if you're moving more,
- 20:17which gives the body this feeling like,
- 20:19Hey, I've got to use energy.
- 20:21It helps your body burn
- 20:22through glucose and then
- 20:24burn through body fat.
- 20:25So that's kind of why a
- 20:27calorie deficit is the best
- 20:29way along with movement is
- 20:31going to help bring that down.
- 20:32So if I can keep calories down, I will,
- 20:34but most importantly,
- 20:35you're controlling them.
- 20:36So that's good.
- 20:38Um,
- 20:39All right.
- 20:40Any, well,
- 20:40we talked about your sleep
- 20:41quality that you're waking
- 20:42up in the middle of night.
- 20:44We can kind of touch on that.
- 20:46How about any significant
- 20:48changes in your mood, motivation,
- 20:49or mental state?
- 20:50I know you mentioned mental
- 20:51was a struggle.
- 20:53Do you think it's improving
- 20:55or about the same or
- 20:56getting worse than last week?
- 20:59It's improving.
- 21:00Good.
- 21:01Good.
- 21:03Do you have any calls with
- 21:04your therapist lined up yet for yourself?
- 21:07Um, our therapist retired,
- 21:08so I've got to find a new one.
- 21:10Yeah, I gotcha.
- 21:13Funny story.
- 21:14I actually fired my therapist yesterday,
- 21:16so I have to find a new one too.
- 21:18So she, uh,
- 21:20she was talking down to me and
- 21:22I didn't like that.
- 21:23And regardless, this is just me.
- 21:25I'm just sharing my open
- 21:26stuff with you guys.
- 21:27I don't care if a therapist
- 21:29can talk down to me.
- 21:30I'm like,
- 21:32This isn't making me feel
- 21:33very safe right now.
- 21:34So just going to call it here.
- 21:36And I didn't like it.
- 21:38So I'm on the hunt with you, Scott.
- 21:42All right.
- 21:42Any changes in your energy
- 21:44throughout the day?
- 21:50I wouldn't say so.
- 21:51Okay.
- 21:52So did this affect your
- 21:53energy throughout the day?
- 21:54Like, were you feeling really tired?
- 21:55Okay.
- 21:56So that's still about the same.
- 21:57Yeah.
- 21:58Yeah.
- 21:59All right.
- 22:00So we're good there.
- 22:01We'll talk about that.
- 22:02Digestion.
- 22:03I know you mentioned the burping.
- 22:05You pooping regularly?
- 22:07So that's been a big change this week.
- 22:10I've been constipated since
- 22:12getting out of the hospital.
- 22:13And then that all changed yesterday.
- 22:19Okay.
- 22:20Well, that's a good thing.
- 22:21We had, we had a good bowel movement.
- 22:23That's always a fun thing.
- 22:25Getting that fiber intake up
- 22:26will really help with that a little bit.
- 22:29You know,
- 22:30that's one of the numbers that
- 22:30we've talked about and
- 22:31we're going to kind of dive
- 22:32into that a little bit today.
- 22:33Cause that's like the next
- 22:34thing you're doing a good job of,
- 22:37you know,
- 22:38making the changes that I've
- 22:39been telling you to.
- 22:40So we're going to keep
- 22:42working on that as well.
- 22:43All right.
- 22:44So,
- 22:45and then we're not working out right now.
- 22:49It's my last question is
- 22:50elaborate on anything that
- 22:52you feel to be significant this week.
- 22:55And I feel like we all know
- 22:57significance right now is
- 22:59everything that we got
- 23:00going on and kind of
- 23:01getting some answers.
- 23:05So just really,
- 23:07really excited about
- 23:08meeting with my new family doctor.
- 23:10Yeah.
- 23:10Seeing how that goes and
- 23:14moving forward with a new plan.
- 23:16Yeah.
- 23:16With them.
- 23:17I think the main thing to
- 23:18address right now is gut
- 23:21and sleep because you're
- 23:23doing the nutrition.
- 23:26You can't really work out right now.
- 23:30And I know you had posted
- 23:31something online.
- 23:33I think it was on Instagram
- 23:34that there might be surgery
- 23:35involved if this AFib doesn't go down.
- 23:40So the first way of fixing
- 23:43it is shocking my heart back into rhythm.
- 23:46Okay.
- 23:48which is still a procedure
- 23:49where they have to put you under.
- 23:52So I would be under anesthetic.
- 23:54They would shock me,
- 23:56get me back into rhythm.
- 24:00And then if that doesn't work,
- 24:02then there's a thing called
- 24:03an ablation where they go
- 24:05in and clean off the sensor
- 24:07at the top of the heart.
- 24:08Yeah.
- 24:09It's crazy.
- 24:11It's crazy what doctors can
- 24:12do really is you're going
- 24:14to become like RoboCop.
- 24:20What's amazing is like the
- 24:22number of people that have
- 24:23reached out to me that have
- 24:24had all of these procedures,
- 24:27like is huge.
- 24:28Yeah.
- 24:29Like it is.
- 24:30And when I,
- 24:31when I first announced that I had this,
- 24:33AFib is one of the,
- 24:34is the most common
- 24:36irregular heartbeat in the world.
- 24:38Right.
- 24:41And the bad thing is it's not correctable.
- 24:45It is only, you can only like,
- 24:49bandaid it, fix it, whatever.
- 24:51So even though they shocked me in,
- 24:54then it's,
- 24:55I still have to make I have to
- 24:57watch it because it can go back to a fib.
- 25:00If I'm not careful.
- 25:01Yeah.
- 25:02How do they monitor that with you at home?
- 25:07So I don't they're not.
- 25:09What's that?
- 25:13How do they know that you're
- 25:14still in a fib just because of the,
- 25:15they didn't eat KG yesterday.
- 25:17Okay.
- 25:18But you don't,
- 25:18so right now you don't have
- 25:19any idea right now as
- 25:20you're sitting there,
- 25:22if your heart's in rhythm or not,
- 25:23like you can't even,
- 25:24like you can't feel it.
- 25:25I mean, I can tell,
- 25:26I can tell by the feel that
- 25:29it's still there.
- 25:30Gotcha.
- 25:31Like, but I also went,
- 25:32I charged my watch so I can
- 25:35watch my heart rate.
- 25:36Good.
- 25:37Um, and I can watch my sleep at night.
- 25:41What kind of a watch is that?
- 25:44Uh, it's called Suunto.
- 25:47Suunto.
- 25:49S-U-U-N-T-O.
- 25:51It's just, it's a form of Garmin,
- 25:53just an off brand.
- 25:56Suunto watches.
- 25:57Um, I'd like to know which one you have.
- 26:01Um, does it, I think it's the nine.
- 26:04Does it sync with your Apple help?
- 26:08Um, a little bit.
- 26:11Good.
- 26:11This is good because this is
- 26:13one of the things that I
- 26:13wanted to do today to talk to you about.
- 26:16I actually wanted you to
- 26:17find out about getting some
- 26:19kind of a activity tracker
- 26:21where I could actually see
- 26:23data of like your heart rate.
- 26:25Um,
- 26:26like even wearing it when you're
- 26:27working out,
- 26:28like I would love to see like
- 26:29what's going on with heart rate,
- 26:32all that stuff while you are training.
- 26:34I think you should wear that
- 26:35when you go back into the
- 26:36gym or get back on the whoop train,
- 26:38you know, like something,
- 26:40some kind of a wearable that can do that.
- 26:43Yeah.
- 26:43I did wear this when I was,
- 26:46when I was in the gym.
- 26:48Um,
- 26:48and it has all the same data as a whoop.
- 26:51Perfect.
- 26:52It, um,
- 26:53It just, I lost the charger at Legends.
- 26:57So I had to buy a new charger.
- 26:58Yeah, just getting,
- 26:59the charger's probably not that much.
- 27:02Yeah.
- 27:02Right now.
- 27:04I already bought it.
- 27:05Okay, cool.
- 27:06Which model do you have?
- 27:09I think it's a Series 9.
- 27:10Okay, yeah.
- 27:12They're pretty expensive,
- 27:13so it's probably a nice watch.
- 27:16Yeah, it has a lot of stuff on it.
- 27:18Yeah.
- 27:19Yeah.
- 27:19Cause that was one of the
- 27:20things that I wanted to
- 27:21actually do is get you on
- 27:23some kind of a tracker.
- 27:25And then what you can do is
- 27:26make sure it's synced up
- 27:27with Apple health and you
- 27:30can just add me.
- 27:31I'm going to actually send
- 27:32you an invite and then we
- 27:35can sync up Apple health
- 27:37and you'll be able to I
- 27:39think you have to ask,
- 27:40I have to ask you to share.
- 27:42So I'm going to ask you to
- 27:43share your data with me so
- 27:44that we'll be able to see everything.
- 27:47or I'll be able to see everything.
- 27:48They won't be able to see everything.
- 27:49I'll be able to see everything.
- 27:51So, and you'll be able to choose,
- 27:53just make sure that you choose to like,
- 27:55allow me to see everything on your watch.
- 27:58So that I'll be able to help
- 27:58you out with things.
- 27:59And then obviously when we
- 28:01get back into the gym,
- 28:02it's also going to be
- 28:03helpful for me to see
- 28:04things like your resting
- 28:04heart rate and stuff and
- 28:07help get you back into getting fitness.
- 28:09So, but yeah,
- 28:11that was actually one of the
- 28:11things that I wanted to
- 28:12cover today was getting you
- 28:13on some kind of a
- 28:15a smartwatch.
- 28:15And I know it was asking me
- 28:16about your scale brand.
- 28:18Um,
- 28:19cause I thought it would be helpful as
- 28:21well.
- 28:22If your scale just synced up
- 28:24right with your Apple
- 28:25health as like accountability to like,
- 28:28it just syncs automatically this way.
- 28:30You don't have to worry about like, Hey,
- 28:31I'll be able to see every
- 28:32day just like that.
- 28:34So that,
- 28:34that watch and everything just
- 28:36syncing right through Apple
- 28:38health will probably be helpful,
- 28:40but I doubt your scale does that.
- 28:41You probably just have a basic scale.
- 28:43whatever scale so we'll get
- 28:46there I think this is a
- 28:47good start all right so
- 28:50let's talk about a couple
- 28:51of things this week for you
- 28:53um I know we mentioned last
- 28:56week really working on the
- 28:58fiber intake um and I'm
- 29:00just kind of taking a look
- 29:01at things because
- 29:03It feels like Tuesday wasn't that long ago,
- 29:05but it was.
- 29:06I know that I mentioned a couple of things,
- 29:09you know,
- 29:09switching out your bagels and such.
- 29:11Are you kind of working on
- 29:13finishing up what you have
- 29:14at home or did you get to
- 29:14the grocery store to buy new things?
- 29:17Tomorrow we have an order for pickup.
- 29:20Okay, cool.
- 29:21Just because I'm kind of taking a look at,
- 29:24you know,
- 29:24Friday was just the only day
- 29:26that you didn't log anything.
- 29:28Saturday you had the rest of the ragu.
- 29:32I'm still finishing up your bagels.
- 29:35I do like that.
- 29:36I see fruit, which is really good.
- 29:37I love that for your carbs.
- 29:40And you're eating a nice big
- 29:42salad every single day, which is awesome.
- 29:45Popcorn is a great high fiber snack,
- 29:47by the way,
- 29:47popcorn underrated for sure people.
- 29:53Yeah.
- 29:53I think the main thing still really is,
- 29:55is just working on the
- 29:57fiber intake is we got to really work on
- 29:59getting the fibrous carbs in.
- 30:02Um, so, uh,
- 30:03I do see the Dave's killer breads,
- 30:05high fiber today, which is good.
- 30:07Um, you didn't, yeah,
- 30:08you had mashed potato today.
- 30:10Was the mashed potato something you made?
- 30:13Yeah.
- 30:14Okay.
- 30:16So that's a recipe that you
- 30:17found in there or did you, um, uh,
- 30:20did you log that yourself?
- 30:21Just curious.
- 30:23It was a hello fresh, um, mashed potato.
- 30:27Um,
- 30:29So it was made fresh with potatoes.
- 30:31Yeah.
- 30:32Potatoes also underrated.
- 30:33I used to be afraid of potatoes.
- 30:37I was afraid of potatoes.
- 30:39Like paleo had me so brainwashed.
- 30:43The thing that like potatoes
- 30:44were bad for me.
- 30:45I'm like, oh my God,
- 30:46it's not a sweet potato.
- 30:48It's not a good potato.
- 30:49Potatoes are actually very good for you.
- 30:52And the skin,
- 30:53if you can do like a baked
- 30:54potato with the skin on,
- 30:56really good for fiber as well.
- 30:58So high volume as well too.
- 31:00Potatoes are very low
- 31:01calorie and people don't realize that,
- 31:04you know?
- 31:04So I think the main thing is
- 31:07I would love to see whole grains,
- 31:10high fiber at your three main meals.
- 31:12So
- 31:13whenever you're choosing
- 31:14your grain products,
- 31:15really looking for something that has,
- 31:18if it has like 20,
- 31:20I think my rule of thumb is like,
- 31:23three to four grams of fiber
- 31:24per 20 grams of carbs.
- 31:27Like if it has 20 grams of
- 31:28carbs and there's not at
- 31:29least three or four grams of fiber,
- 31:31probably should be choosing
- 31:32something else.
- 31:33So I would always just look for high fiber,
- 31:36whole grains, um, make some like wraps,
- 31:39even those like carb
- 31:40counter tortillas or little abash breads.
- 31:43Any of that kinds of stuff
- 31:44can be great ways to get
- 31:46your fiber intake up.
- 31:47Sorry, I'm getting a call.
- 31:48I'm just going to hit
- 31:48delete because I don't want
- 31:49that to distract me.
- 31:51But that's really good.
- 31:52Raspberries and avocado are
- 31:55also super high in fiber if
- 31:56you like those foods as well.
- 32:00That's really going to be
- 32:01the main focus this week is
- 32:03getting your fiber count up.
- 32:05Everything else is looking really good.
- 32:06Your protein has been pretty good.
- 32:09Let me see where that's been.
- 32:10Yeah, that's been much better.
- 32:13And your fat's been down.
- 32:14So really the next step is I
- 32:16want 30 plus grams of fiber a day.
- 32:19Every day.
- 32:19That's what I'm shooting for.
- 32:22Yeah.
- 32:23I would just look up,
- 32:25and I know I sent you that
- 32:26high fiber food list.
- 32:28Those are just some easy ideas.
- 32:29And you might not have the
- 32:30same exact brands,
- 32:32but you can probably find
- 32:33almost the exact same thing
- 32:35with whatever brand you have.
- 32:36In fact,
- 32:37if you just send me the name of
- 32:38wherever you go grocery shopping,
- 32:40I'm sure that I can look at,
- 32:41I've done this for,
- 32:42I've got clients in the UK
- 32:43and they don't have any of
- 32:44the same products as us.
- 32:45So I have to like,
- 32:46and their labels look weird too.
- 32:49So I have to like look at
- 32:50everything and try and
- 32:52troubleshoot and try and
- 32:54find them products.
- 32:55But, and popcorn, if you like popcorn,
- 32:57popcorn's a great high fiber grain.
- 33:00People don't give corn enough credit.
- 33:02So I just had memories of old movies.
- 33:05Remember the movie Nacho
- 33:08Libre and Jack Black?
- 33:11Get that corn out of my face.
- 33:13Get that corn out of my face.
- 33:14Oh my God.
- 33:14I got to show you.
- 33:15I'll have to share this with
- 33:16everybody since we're
- 33:17talking CrossFit here too sometimes.
- 33:19We did this thing at the gym
- 33:20that I used to be at called the Boo Bash.
- 33:22We did every single year and
- 33:24we would have a partner and
- 33:26we would like dress up for the Halloween.
- 33:29And one year a guy was Nacho
- 33:32Libre and I was whatever
- 33:34the skinny guy's name was.
- 33:35That was his friend.
- 33:36I was the dude.
- 33:37Oh God.
- 33:38I got to show you the picture.
- 33:39It was awesome.
- 33:40So, but tangent.
- 33:42Sorry, I'm on my hamster.
- 33:46Well, I hate to cut today short,
- 33:49but I'm now doing these
- 33:50from my main floor and my
- 33:54wife is about to get home
- 33:55and my dog's going to lose his shit soon.
- 33:58Well, we haven't seen your dog.
- 33:59Where's your dog?
- 34:02He's sleeping on the chair right now.
- 34:04But the minute he hears the
- 34:05garage door go up, it's all over.
- 34:09Well,
- 34:09that could have made for some excitement.
- 34:13Um, well,
- 34:14I'm probably going to be doing
- 34:15them from up here for a little while.
- 34:17So maybe next time I'll bring,
- 34:19I'll show them at the beginning.
- 34:22All right.
- 34:23All right.
- 34:24Well,
- 34:24so your homework is let's get that
- 34:26fiber up.
- 34:27Let's get that fiber intake up.
- 34:29Um, go ahead and sync your health,
- 34:31Apple health with me.
- 34:32Uh, that'll be helpful.
- 34:34And, uh,
- 34:35obviously last thing is just like
- 34:37when you're ordering the HelloFresh, uh,
- 34:39just trying to find the best ones, which.
- 34:42Every once in a while,
- 34:44choose the chicken pot pie.
- 34:46That's a childhood staple for me.
- 34:47So, but I'm good.
- 34:50You're good.
- 34:51We're good.
- 34:51All right.
- 34:54Well, it's been fun.
- 34:56Hopefully next week we'll
- 34:59have some more answers.
- 35:03After the family doctor,
- 35:04hopefully I hear from my
- 35:05cardiologist in the next
- 35:07day or two and we can
- 35:09update next week as to
- 35:11where everything is.
- 35:12With that,
- 35:14we will catch you next time on
- 35:18Clydesdale Media Weight Loss Journey.
- 35:19Bye, guys.
