2:03
Speaker 3: you're into the ice sports at a big event for you.
2:06
Speaker 3: It's a fundraiser for Little Victories happening Sunday afternoon, South Charleston.
2:10
Speaker 3: We'll talk about that. And if you're a WVU fan,
2:13
Speaker 3: you know they have a big game tomorrow afternoon at
2:15
Speaker 3: home against Utah. It's Hall of Fame weekend in Morgantown.
2:18
Speaker 3: We're in those nineteen sixty five throwbacks tomorrow. Friends of
2:20
Speaker 3: Pinnacle Consultants, proud sponsors of the show. I've really set
2:24
Speaker 3: our listeners up with some really good tickets for tomorrow.
2:27
Speaker 3: How do you get them? We'll keep listening because I'm
2:29
Speaker 3: going to tell you all about it coming up a
2:30
Speaker 3: little bit later on. And of course you're Calls and Texter,
2:33
Speaker 3: welcome to but every Friday, as you know what we do,
2:36
Speaker 3: we talk a little high school football.
2:37
Speaker 5: Tom Bragg and Chris Lawrence here. Chris, good morning, and
2:41
Speaker 5: welcome to the show. Thank you so much. I'm I'm
2:44
Speaker 5: honored to be here between two wrestling maniacs and a
2:48
Speaker 5: third about to join us. I'm not a wrestling fan,
2:51
Speaker 5: but I have no problem with it. But I think
2:54
Speaker 5: I was a bigger fan of my father in law
2:56
Speaker 5: who was a huge wrestling fan. And my favorite thing
2:59
Speaker 5: to do was my father in law watch wrestling. Yes,
3:02
Speaker 5: because it wore me out. Yeah, because he was He
3:04
Speaker 5: would just be he would help out the guy that
3:07
Speaker 5: was in trouble. He'd be swinging his arms.
3:09
Speaker 2: It was.
3:09
Speaker 3: It was beautiful, beautiful to watch. So yeah, it's they're
3:13
Speaker 3: they're they're a different breed. I spent thirty years, thirty
3:16
Speaker 3: years in the business. I got stories, man, I guess stories.
3:19
Speaker 3: What games you covered?
3:20
Speaker 5: N I will be at Ladley Field tonight Aaron Parker
3:22
Speaker 5: and I will have the call of South Charleston at Capital.
3:26
Speaker 5: Should be a good and I'm really looking forward to
3:28
Speaker 5: seeing Tony Robinson Junior play for Capital. I've heard great
3:32
Speaker 5: things about this young man, not only on the field
3:34
Speaker 5: but off the field. Just a super individual. Looking forward
3:37
Speaker 5: to seeing him play tonight. He he has been absolutely
3:41
Speaker 5: wearing it out from his running back position, So I
3:45
Speaker 5: would expect there'll be a lot of big plays in
3:46
Speaker 5: that game and and a lot of scoring because that's
3:49
Speaker 5: the way these two teams roll. Although South Charleston's coming
3:53
Speaker 5: off that loss to GW last week and they struggled
3:57
Speaker 5: mightily there, but they do have a very young team
4:01
Speaker 5: and whatever loss, you learn a few things. So hopefully
4:03
Speaker 5: that they'll be able to get back on track this
4:05
Speaker 5: tonight and see what they can do. Kick off at
4:08
Speaker 5: seven point thirty. Will be on there at seven o'clock,
4:10
Speaker 5: following the sports line here on five ADWCCHS.
4:13
Speaker 6: Yeah.
4:14
Speaker 3: What you got tomorrow morning on West Virgina Outdoors.
4:16
Speaker 5: Well, tomorrow's the opening day of archery season in West Virginia,
4:19
Speaker 5: so we'll we'll delve into the massed survey that comes
4:23
Speaker 5: out every year. I had an opportunity to talk to
4:26
Speaker 5: the lady who was in charge of putting that together
4:28
Speaker 5: this year, and we'll learn more about that and sneak peak.
4:32
Speaker 5: The acorn crop, as most hunters that do any scouting know,
4:37
Speaker 5: is a bumper crop this year and that does impact
4:39
Speaker 5: the harvest. So we'll talk about that tomorrow morning on
4:41
Speaker 5: the show. Also another update on EHD that continues to
4:45
Speaker 5: be a real problem in the midd Ohio Valley radiating
4:48
Speaker 5: out from the Parkersburg area. Lots of deer have died
4:51
Speaker 5: of it, and it's even worse across the river in
4:54
Speaker 5: Ohio where they are actually considering reducing the bag limit
4:58
Speaker 5: for deer during the upcoming deer season. They're starting the
5:01
Speaker 5: process to make that emergency move right now, does not
5:04
Speaker 5: look like West Virginia is going to pursue that. We'll
5:06
Speaker 5: talk a little bit about that with the wildlife disease
5:09
Speaker 5: specialist Ethan Barton on the show tomorrow. And an individual
5:12
Speaker 5: who caught the biggest bass in the history of the
5:16
Speaker 5: Bass Nation Fishing tournaments, the biggest basscot in the tournament.
5:19
Speaker 5: He cut it last week in a Stonewall Jackson's seven
5:23
Speaker 5: I think it was seven. Seven was the seven pounds
5:25
Speaker 5: and seven ounces. I think that's what it was. We'll
5:29
Speaker 5: talk to him about that catch that he secured during
5:32
Speaker 5: a tournament last weekend. So that's what's on the show tomorrow.
5:35
Speaker 5: I hope you'll join us.
5:36
Speaker 3: All right, we'll be listening tomorrow. Man, Thanks buddy, it's
5:38
Speaker 3: bringing Tom Bragg. Now, Tom, you Matt Guitar Murphy have
5:41
Speaker 3: the call for Herbert Hoover and Point Pleasant. That is
5:45
Speaker 3: tonight road game for the Huskies are heading to Mason County.
5:48
Speaker 3: Talk about that game.
5:49
Speaker 7: Yeah, first time we've been down to Point Pleasant for
5:51
Speaker 7: a Hoover game since we've been doing this and always
5:54
Speaker 7: interested to get down to those places that have some
5:57
Speaker 7: history behind him, places where a lot of big games
5:59
Speaker 7: have been play over the years. I know Point not
6:01
Speaker 7: having the best season this year. They're down a little
6:03
Speaker 7: bit Owen three coming into this one. I think they're
6:06
Speaker 7: a little better Owen three than maybe some of the
6:08
Speaker 7: other winless teams around the state. And I think they
6:10
Speaker 7: present a little bit more of a challenge than Hoover
6:12
Speaker 7: faced last week. I'll do respect to Lincoln County, just
6:15
Speaker 7: nothing went right for them, and everything went right for
6:17
Speaker 7: the Huskies last week. Daniel and I did that game
6:20
Speaker 7: and we looked up at one point, David, there was
6:22
Speaker 7: five minutes, five and a half minutes to go in
6:24
Speaker 7: the first quarter, Hoover had run three offensive plays, the
6:27
Speaker 7: score was twenty five to nothing.
6:28
Speaker 3: Herbert Hoover.
6:29
Speaker 7: It was just if it could go right for them,
6:31
Speaker 7: it did, and you can't count on that every week.
6:33
Speaker 7: And Point pleasants a proud program. You know, those are
6:35
Speaker 7: kids that have that competed all the way up. So
6:38
Speaker 7: I expect a hard fought game. Hoover probably should come
6:41
Speaker 7: out of this one with a win, but that's a
6:43
Speaker 7: tough place to go play.
6:44
Speaker 2: Its age.
6:45
Speaker 8: You never know.
6:46
Speaker 7: Hoover young at a lot of spots, particularly at the
6:49
Speaker 7: quarterback position. But I thought last week at Lincoln County,
6:52
Speaker 7: Peyton Griggsby, the sophomore for the Huskies, really kind of
6:54
Speaker 7: had his coming out party. Three hundred yards five touchdowns,
6:57
Speaker 7: looked as crisp as he has all season long. Certainly
7:00
Speaker 7: something if you're Joey Fields and the coaching staff down
7:02
Speaker 7: there in Elkfield, you can build off of.
7:04
Speaker 3: All Right, we'll be listing to you in the Mcutar
7:06
Speaker 3: Murphy on the air tonight.
7:07
Speaker 7: Yeah, we're rolling games at seven or seven o'clock. We'll
7:09
Speaker 7: be on about six fifty.
7:10
Speaker 3: Five and that's on Superstar Country ninety six to one KWUS.
7:13
Speaker 2: That's correct.
7:14
Speaker 3: And then you're gonna rebound tomorrow home coming at West
7:16
Speaker 3: Virginia State. Quickly talk about that.
7:18
Speaker 7: Yeah, homecoming for the Yellowjackets tomorrow, Fairmont State coming into town.
7:21
Speaker 7: It's the mac opener for or not to open the
7:24
Speaker 7: home opener for in the NEC. West Virginia State one
7:27
Speaker 7: at West Virginia Wesleyan last week. Fairmont State coming in
7:31
Speaker 7: at two and one, got upset at Wheeling last week.
7:34
Speaker 7: So Falcons coming in trying to get back on the
7:36
Speaker 7: right track, and State just trying to keep the train
7:37
Speaker 7: on the rails. Right now, they're playing pretty good ball.
7:39
Speaker 7: All right, we'll be listening. You guys have a great
7:41
Speaker 7: broadcast to morrow. Thanks all right, thank you, Davie.
7:43
Speaker 3: All right, it is nine to fifteen the day violand

8:08
Speaker 3: Gillenwater from the Gannala Charleston Humane Association with this week's
8:11
Speaker 3: Adopt Me Please Pet of the Week and has always
8:13
Speaker 3: picture posted on the Facebook pages both Dave Allen Radio
8:16
Speaker 3: and the WCCHS Network, also on my ex page at
8:19
Speaker 3: Dave A seventy Angie, good morning, welcome to the show.
8:23
Speaker 9: Good morning, and I also want to throw out this
8:26
Speaker 9: is a picture you definitely want to go see of
8:28
Speaker 9: our adopting please pet of the week.
8:29
Speaker 3: It is the it's a cat. It's a cat this
8:32
Speaker 3: week named old Man Jenkins and he's currently a resident
8:37
Speaker 3: at the Petgo Penhouse out at South Ridge, just waiting
8:40
Speaker 3: on an adoption. I said this in the description that
8:42
Speaker 3: the listeners will see when they go over to my
8:45
Speaker 3: social media. This cat is a survivor. Tell us the story.
8:50
Speaker 9: So old Man Jenkins is not only a little bit
8:53
Speaker 9: older in age, but he also came from the same
8:56
Speaker 9: abandoned home that Skips With the cat we featured a
8:59
Speaker 9: couple of weeks ago. He's from the same home ass
9:01
Speaker 9: Skip with, so he had been abandoned on his own
9:04
Speaker 9: for a little bit. And when he came into the shelter,
9:07
Speaker 9: we also discovered that he had a disease called pan
9:10
Speaker 9: luc apina, which, if you're unfamiliar, it is a disease
9:14
Speaker 9: pretty similar to parvo and dogs. It's mainly attackt unvaccinated
9:20
Speaker 9: or very very young cats and kittens. And he actually
9:24
Speaker 9: beat that. It's very uncommon to see an old cat
9:27
Speaker 9: with pan luke, but he beat pan Luke and now
9:31
Speaker 9: he is awaiting a hole at Petko.
9:34
Speaker 3: Like you said, beautiful, beautiful cat. Gover and see the picture.
9:37
Speaker 3: And then again if you're looking for a little bit
9:38
Speaker 3: of an older cat and a survivor with a great story,
9:42
Speaker 3: it all turned out good and so for old man Jenkins,
9:45
Speaker 3: go check out the picture.
9:46
Speaker 8: All right.
9:46
Speaker 3: So you guys got a real blessing this week with
9:48
Speaker 3: something called the Hero Project.
9:50
Speaker 9: Talk about it, absolutely so, the Hero Project. We had
9:55
Speaker 9: some wonderful, wonderful people from Loewe's, two different loads in
10:01
Speaker 9: our region come out and build us some playard furniture, which,
10:05
Speaker 9: if you don't know, it's just structures that dogs can
10:07
Speaker 9: play on playyard furniture. We had picnic tables built. They
10:13
Speaker 9: beautified our recycling center, they built us a little gazebo
10:17
Speaker 9: type situation. They just really worked all day long in
10:20
Speaker 9: the pouring rain for us at the shelter, just to
10:24
Speaker 9: make our area more enjoyable, enjoyable, and more beautiful. So
10:28
Speaker 9: we are thankful for that, but not only thankful that
10:31
Speaker 9: they did all that, but again they did it all
10:33
Speaker 9: of the pouring rain, and we are so so thankful
10:35
Speaker 9: for them.
10:37
Speaker 3: All right, just a good stuff. Now, are you guys
10:38
Speaker 3: out on about anywhere this weekend?
10:41
Speaker 9: So we will be at the fall fest in clin Dinnon.
10:45
Speaker 9: We'll be put up near Clin Dionnon Brewing Company. At
10:48
Speaker 9: that gazebo, you'll see one of our wonderful volunteers, Sydney,
10:52
Speaker 9: that we love so very much. She's gonna have some
10:54
Speaker 9: puppies out there to talk about possibly getting them adopted
10:57
Speaker 9: or fostered. You can't do either. You can still visit
11:00
Speaker 9: at this and talk about the pup.
11:01
Speaker 3: Peace all right, Angie. As always, we love having you
11:04
Speaker 3: on the show, and we'll talk to you again next week.
11:06
Speaker 3: Thanks a lot.
11:07
Speaker 9: Sounds great.
11:08
Speaker 3: You'll have a good one all right again. Old Man
11:10
Speaker 3: Jenkins is our cat's name this week. He's about five
11:13
Speaker 3: years old, neutered and up to date on all of
11:15
Speaker 3: his vaccines, currently at the Petco Penhouse out at South Ridge,
11:18
Speaker 3: and definitely a survivor. As Angie just told you. I
11:20
Speaker 3: get his picture posted on Dave Allen Radio on Facebook

14:31
Speaker 3: be from here.
14:32
Speaker 8: What gave that away?
14:33
Speaker 3: I don't know, I don't know. Just Sydney Australia is
14:35
Speaker 3: and where your friend that's it.
14:36
Speaker 8: Yeah, so I grew up.
14:37
Speaker 3: Was wrestling something that you always wanted to do?
14:41
Speaker 13: I think it was around eight years old was when
14:43
Speaker 13: I made the decision.
14:44
Speaker 8: I was like, pro wrestling is what I want to do.
14:45
Speaker 13: I think before that it was rugby was the first thing,
14:49
Speaker 13: then surfing as most Australians would go through that phase.
14:52
Speaker 13: But yeah, then eight years old, it was from then
14:55
Speaker 13: it was I know I wanted to be a pro wrestler.
14:57
Speaker 3: Now we think sometimes about wrestling being a American thing,
15:01
Speaker 3: or maybe we think about it being big in Japan
15:03
Speaker 3: and so like we don't always think about Australia. Now
15:05
Speaker 3: we know about you know about your broadcast and the
15:08
Speaker 3: others coming into Australia, But is there a big pro
15:10
Speaker 3: wrestling scene in Australia.
15:11
Speaker 8: Uh, it's definitely getting bigger.
15:14
Speaker 13: When I first started training, when I first started going
15:17
Speaker 13: to the shows in Australia, it was it was quite small.
15:20
Speaker 13: It didn't really have that kind of buzz around it.
15:21
Speaker 13: But now with the Internet and stuff and word getting
15:24
Speaker 13: around in streaming and things like that, yeah, it's the
15:26
Speaker 13: scene's definitely growing and there's as you can tell, a
15:29
Speaker 13: lot of great Australian wrestlers coming out nowadays.
15:32
Speaker 3: And you're twenty six is twenty six? Yeah, twenty six
15:35
Speaker 3: years old. And when I say that you are, I
15:39
Speaker 3: was gonna say you're on your way, You're already there.
15:41
Speaker 3: I mean you're the T and T champion and at
15:43
Speaker 3: age twenty six, I mean you got big, big things
15:46
Speaker 3: in front of you right.
15:47
Speaker 8: Now, hopefully man.
15:47
Speaker 3: Yeah, absolutely, And of course you know, aw as I mentioned,
15:50
Speaker 3: we were talking about the world wide thing. You guys
15:52
Speaker 3: could be in Huntington tomorrow night, but you're all over
15:54
Speaker 3: the country and all over the world. You also did
15:56
Speaker 3: a lot in Japan. Talk about your time in Japan.
15:58
Speaker 8: I did. Yeah, I loved my time in Japan.
16:00
Speaker 13: I grew up being a big fan of New Japan
16:03
Speaker 13: Pro wrestling, so it was a dream of mine to
16:05
Speaker 13: go and work there.
16:05
Speaker 8: I got to spend a.
16:07
Speaker 13: Bit of time there, won some titles in re Gokusumo Hall.
16:11
Speaker 13: But yeah, the culture out there, the respect that they
16:14
Speaker 13: have for wrestling is second to none, and I loved
16:17
Speaker 13: my time there.
16:18
Speaker 3: Talk about some of the differences between being in Japan
16:21
Speaker 3: and being in the US as far as the wrestling
16:23
Speaker 3: fans go.
16:24
Speaker 13: Yeah, the fans, I'd say in Japan, it's something that
16:29
Speaker 13: you have to adjust to because they are they are
16:32
Speaker 13: really respectful and they'll sit there and they won't make
16:35
Speaker 13: any noise, but it's just because they're paying such close
16:39
Speaker 13: attention to what is happening in the ring, Whereas American
16:42
Speaker 13: fans Australian fans as well, they're just so into it
16:46
Speaker 13: that they that they want to make as much noise
16:47
Speaker 13: as possible. They want to be a part of the show,
16:49
Speaker 13: and they're just there to have fun. So it's definitely
16:51
Speaker 13: you have to learn to kind of cater to the
16:55
Speaker 13: different audiences you're in front of.
16:57
Speaker 3: I talked to a lot of gas in the business
16:59
Speaker 3: and listeners know that I spent time into business as well,
17:02
Speaker 3: and uh, and they talked about their first trips to
17:05
Speaker 3: Japan and they grew up watching it here. You know,
17:07
Speaker 3: this is a lot of us was pretting it and
17:08
Speaker 3: then they thought they were doing something wrong when they
17:11
Speaker 3: went to Japan, and the fans weren't like yelling and
17:13
Speaker 3: screaming and losing their minds like they do in America.
17:15
Speaker 3: Uh and in other places as well. But it's a
17:17
Speaker 3: totally different culture and a lot of guys and and
17:20
Speaker 3: and gals really like the Japanese style just it's different.
17:23
Speaker 13: Yeah, yeah, definitely. I mean I grew up being a
17:25
Speaker 13: huge fan of it, so I kind of went in
17:28
Speaker 13: there with an understanding of what it was. But I
17:30
Speaker 13: can I can see how it for a first time
17:34
Speaker 13: on going over there, it can it can be a
17:36
Speaker 13: shock man.
17:36
Speaker 8: Absolutely.
17:37
Speaker 3: We're talking to Ae w str Kyle Fletcher. By the way,
17:40
Speaker 3: we have a winner on our tickets. Want to say
17:43
Speaker 3: congratulations to Kara Armstrong of South Charleston. She was a
17:46
Speaker 3: winner of our tickets for the WVU game. Kara and
17:49
Speaker 3: a guesst A're gonna be going to Morgantown tomorrow setting
17:51
Speaker 3: in the touchdown terrace for that game for the Mountaineers
17:54
Speaker 3: in Utah. Kara Armstrong from South Charleston was our winner.
17:57
Speaker 3: So congratulations to Kara. And your career really took off
18:02
Speaker 3: doing some research in the tag team ranks, that's kind
18:05
Speaker 3: of where you were known as. But now you're doing
18:08
Speaker 3: your thing as a singles wrestle. We'll talk about contrasting
18:10
Speaker 3: the styles.
18:10
Speaker 13: Yeah, absolutely, I mean, going from me in a tag team,
18:14
Speaker 13: it's very much like you have someone to bounce all
18:18
Speaker 13: your ideas off someone to collaborate with and like kind
18:21
Speaker 13: of proofread everything. It's kind of a joint thing. Whereas
18:25
Speaker 13: being a singles wrestler, a lot of most of the
18:27
Speaker 13: ideas of mine, everything that you see about my presentation
18:30
Speaker 13: when I'm in the ring, the moves I want to do,
18:32
Speaker 13: all that kind of thing, they're kind of my own
18:34
Speaker 13: brain child. So's you kind of have to have a
18:37
Speaker 13: total different level of trust in your own instincts because
18:41
Speaker 13: you don't have that person to check you when your
18:43
Speaker 13: ideas suck.
18:44
Speaker 8: Right.
18:45
Speaker 13: So yeah, so it's been a bit of an adjustment,
18:48
Speaker 13: but I really feel like I'm finding my confidence in
18:52
Speaker 13: the ring on my own. And yeah, I think having
18:55
Speaker 13: the TNT Championship kind of proves that I would.
18:57
Speaker 3: Hope and aew For those that that don't know, ad
19:01
Speaker 3: A w started a few years ago, uh and and
19:04
Speaker 3: and and you're it's a rising organization, has been you
19:07
Speaker 3: know for some time. Uh And it's giving, you know,
19:10
Speaker 3: because for so long there was the one guys, and
19:12
Speaker 3: then there were all the little ones. Hm, Okay, now
19:16
Speaker 3: it's not that way. I mean, you guys are doing
19:18
Speaker 3: are doing amazing things and giving people and giving Here's
19:21
Speaker 3: what I like about it. It gives fans an opportunity
19:24
Speaker 3: to have different products and high level products.
19:27
Speaker 8: Yeah.
19:27
Speaker 13: Absolutely, I think I think just since AW has been around,
19:31
Speaker 13: the wrestling industry has changed so much and for the
19:35
Speaker 13: better in so many different ways. Uh Yeah, Like you said,
19:38
Speaker 13: fans have options now they can they can choose what
19:42
Speaker 13: they want to watch and and wrestling for so long
19:44
Speaker 13: was had to be a certain way and if.
19:46
Speaker 8: It wasn't that way, it was wrong.
19:48
Speaker 13: And AW really celebrates all kinds of wrestling, all walks
19:52
Speaker 13: of wrestling.
19:53
Speaker 8: There's there's no right or wrong.
19:55
Speaker 13: It's just celebrating pro wrestling as a beautiful art form
19:58
Speaker 13: in every single way. And uh I, I think the
20:00
Speaker 13: industry is better for it.
20:02
Speaker 3: Kind of injuries have you sustained?
20:04
Speaker 8: I have been touch wood, very lucky.
20:08
Speaker 13: I think the worst one I had in Japan, I
20:11
Speaker 13: did a moon salt from the back flip from the
20:14
Speaker 13: top rope to the floor, over rotated a little bit
20:18
Speaker 13: too much and smacked the back of my head on
20:22
Speaker 13: a steel guard rail and seven stitches or something like that.
20:27
Speaker 8: That that was the worst one. And that's pretty that's
20:29
Speaker 8: pretty good for pro wrestling. I'll take that.
20:32
Speaker 3: And I said that jin, you'll trip walking up the
20:36
Speaker 3: steps here now, knocking on all the wood, knocking on
20:38
Speaker 3: all the genuine simulated brick. Oh yeah, here in the studio.
20:42
Speaker 3: So now you're the T and T champion. But I
20:44
Speaker 3: know the ultimate goal is to be the world champion.
20:47
Speaker 8: Of course. Yeah.
20:48
Speaker 13: I think I've known that. That's been my destiny for
20:52
Speaker 13: since I was eight years old. It's it's what i've
20:55
Speaker 13: what I've chased after. I just had my first shot
20:57
Speaker 13: at the world title this past Saturday, all out against
21:00
Speaker 13: Hangman Page. Took me to my limit, but it kind
21:04
Speaker 13: of gave me that taste and now I'm even hungrier
21:07
Speaker 13: and I know it's gonna happen very soon.
21:09
Speaker 3: And of course you're the T and T champion now,
21:10
Speaker 3: and that's that's that's certainly nothing to be scoffed at him.
21:13
Speaker 8: It's a pretty presidious champions huge accolade.
21:15
Speaker 13: Yeah, And I think right now the focus is on
21:19
Speaker 13: becoming the greatest T and T champion of all time.
21:22
Speaker 13: And I think if I can get there, it just
21:24
Speaker 13: goes goes along with my building that legacy and going
21:28
Speaker 13: down as one of the greatest of all time.
21:31
Speaker 3: You not long ago got to win over the legendary
21:34
Speaker 3: Dustin Rhoades, son of the iconic one of my all
21:37
Speaker 3: time favorite wrestlers of the American Dreams star dust Dusty
21:41
Speaker 3: Rhodes talk about beating a veteran like Dustin Rhads.
21:45
Speaker 13: Yeah, like I said, it just things like that go
21:48
Speaker 13: into building this legacy that I'm that I'm chasing after
21:51
Speaker 13: someone like Dustin Rhodes, who's been There's some some stat
21:56
Speaker 13: I think he's wrestled in five different decades, something ridiculous
22:00
Speaker 13: that maybe the only wrestler to ever do that. So yeah,
22:03
Speaker 13: for me as a twenty six year old to be
22:05
Speaker 13: able to beat someone that caliber just goes to show
22:09
Speaker 13: the kind of wrestler that I am. And yeah, keep
22:12
Speaker 13: building that resume.
22:13
Speaker 3: And of course the big event is tomorrow night at
22:16
Speaker 3: the Martiall Health Network Arena in Huntington, AW Collision. Talk
22:21
Speaker 3: about who you're facing tomorrow name.
22:22
Speaker 8: I am wrestling.
22:24
Speaker 13: I'm defending my teens championship against a man named Commander,
22:28
Speaker 13: a young luchidore who have had one match with before
22:32
Speaker 13: in the past, and that one that went pretty crazy.
22:36
Speaker 13: So yeah, Commander's coming back off an injury. First match back,
22:40
Speaker 13: I think he's pretty excited. I think I'm pretty excited.
22:43
Speaker 13: I think it's gonna be a fun one.
22:45
Speaker 3: For people that haven't seen you, Kyle talk about your style.
22:49
Speaker 3: I mean, you know, you spent the time in Japan,
22:50
Speaker 3: but you were also obviously native Australian and you come
22:53
Speaker 3: to America, where as you said with aw they like
22:55
Speaker 3: to kind of blend the difference. There's so many different
22:58
Speaker 3: styles out there. If you had to put yourself in
23:00
Speaker 3: a category, what's your what's your one or two styles?
23:04
Speaker 13: Possibly I like to think of my style as maybe
23:11
Speaker 13: not so much a style, but I just love beating
23:15
Speaker 13: people up so much, and I love picking people up,
23:20
Speaker 13: dropping them on their heads, slamming them down as hard
23:23
Speaker 13: as physically possible. I'm strong, I'm fast, I'm agile. I
23:27
Speaker 13: can blend almost every style of wrestling together seamlessly with
23:32
Speaker 13: an intensity that you have never seen before.
23:35
Speaker 8: So if that, if that rounds out.
23:37
Speaker 3: Part, it's perfect. Perfect attributes for our our sales person here, Bobby,
23:41
Speaker 3: who's the one that brought you in the studio. She's
23:43
Speaker 3: also the same way. She likes to beat people up
23:45
Speaker 3: and drop them on their heads. Amazing, So it all
23:47
Speaker 3: all kind of I'll give her a shot of my
23:49
Speaker 3: championship stop for she's already said she wants to have
23:52
Speaker 3: a picture, So we'll do that on your way out,
23:53
Speaker 3: because I know you guys will got plenty more stops
23:55
Speaker 3: today and so you're out, you know, doing this sort
23:58
Speaker 3: of thing now because I know you've made the rounds
24:00
Speaker 3: and you guys are going to honeying to do some
24:01
Speaker 3: TV today. So people, it's not just about the thirty
24:06
Speaker 3: to forty five minutes or maybe an hour that you
24:08
Speaker 3: spend in the ring every night. There's a whole lot
24:09
Speaker 3: that goes into it.
24:10
Speaker 13: Yeah, there is. I mean, this is my whole life.
24:13
Speaker 13: Like I said, I've been fan since I was eight
24:16
Speaker 13: years old. I've been training since I was fourteen years old.
24:18
Speaker 13: I've been wrestling for nearly half my life. And yeah,
24:21
Speaker 13: it is my whole life. I go home and it's
24:23
Speaker 13: all I think about, it's all I watch. My whole
24:26
Speaker 13: day is based around becoming the best professional wrestler I
24:29
Speaker 13: possibly can and hopefully becoming the best professional wrestler of
24:32
Speaker 13: all time one day.
24:33
Speaker 8: So yeah, it's not just not just what you see
24:35
Speaker 8: in the ring. There's a whole lot that goes into it.
24:37
Speaker 3: Well, let's talk about the training aspect of it, because
24:39
Speaker 3: that's a big part of it. What's an average training
24:42
Speaker 3: day like for you? I know it's hard when you're
24:44
Speaker 3: on the road, you know, of course, what do you
24:46
Speaker 3: do to stay in shape?
24:47
Speaker 13: Man, it's I'm in the gym six days a week
24:51
Speaker 13: in the morning, I try and get my cardio in.
24:54
Speaker 13: I'll do all my mobility type stuff, chiropracta every week, saunas,
25:00
Speaker 13: all the recovery type stuff, and then yeah, on the
25:03
Speaker 13: road it becomes difficult, but you just get it in
25:05
Speaker 13: when you can. Nutrition is very important. I'm very dialed
25:07
Speaker 13: in with that as well. So yeah, like I said,
25:09
Speaker 13: as a full time job.
25:10
Speaker 3: Honestly, people don't understand how important the cardio is on
25:14
Speaker 3: it for sure. I mean you can have the big
25:16
Speaker 3: you know, the awesome bodies and everything, but after about
25:19
Speaker 3: ten minutes in, if you don't have the cardio, none
25:21
Speaker 3: of it matters.
25:21
Speaker 8: That's it.
25:22
Speaker 13: Yeah, I just wrestled forty minutes this past weekend, So
25:25
Speaker 13: there's nothing like in ring cardio.
25:27
Speaker 8: You got to get those reps in.
25:29
Speaker 3: Who were and I know you guys got to go,
25:31
Speaker 3: but who are some of the folks that you watch
25:32
Speaker 3: growing up that really really struck a fancy with you
25:37
Speaker 3: if you want to do this.
25:39
Speaker 13: Like I said, I'm twenty six, so I'm a bit younger.
25:41
Speaker 13: My first, very first favorite was Jeff Hardy. He's the
25:44
Speaker 13: one that really made me fall in love with wrestling,
25:47
Speaker 13: and then from there it was my love of Japanese wrestling.
25:50
Speaker 13: It was Jusianliga was one of my big guys. Prince
25:54
Speaker 13: Devitt as well, and then Kenny Omega who was one
25:57
Speaker 13: of the founders of AW in the end, they were
25:58
Speaker 13: kind of kind of the one that made me fall
26:00
Speaker 13: in love with it.
26:01
Speaker 3: All right, Well, the big event is tomorrow night. Uh,
26:05
Speaker 3: it's a collision AEW collision of too Marshall Health Network Arena.

Speaker 3: I mean, and this thing is huge and we're gonna
29:56
Speaker 3: try to get her on the phone here momentarily to
29:58
Speaker 3: talk about the event. And if we are unable to
30:00
Speaker 3: then I will definitely talk about the event. But Dave
30:04
Speaker 3: Allen showing five dy Line is brought to you in
30:05
Speaker 3: part by Jute Security JOT Jute Security System. Totay's valleys
30:10
Speaker 3: are protected by jute dot Com or follow the Month Facebook.
30:12
Speaker 3: I had a great time with that interview with AW
30:15
Speaker 3: with the aw star there, Kyle Fletcher, I mean, just
30:18
Speaker 3: super nice guy. Uh and uh, he's gonna do great
30:22
Speaker 3: things in that in the business. He already is. I mean,
30:24
Speaker 3: he's already wrestled for the world championship and he's a
30:26
Speaker 3: current T and T champion. He's just twenty six years old.
30:29
Speaker 3: It was amazing to me to find out that so
30:33
Speaker 3: far at twenty six, the only serious injury he's had
30:35
Speaker 3: or stitches. That's because people don't understand this about the
30:40
Speaker 3: wrestling business. They think, oh, you know, it's this and
30:42
Speaker 3: it's that, and those guys don't really get hurt. Talk
30:44
Speaker 3: to any wrestler over the edge of forty and watch
30:47
Speaker 3: him walk. I mean, there is no easy way to
30:51
Speaker 3: get slammed onto a floor. You get slammed onto a floor,
30:54
Speaker 3: it hurts. You go through a table, it hurts.
30:57
Speaker 8: Period.
30:57
Speaker 3: It's just a matter of the pay. That's why I
30:58
Speaker 3: did the announcing thing as opposed to the wrestling thing.
31:01
Speaker 3: That's the that's the whole reason I did that, all right,
31:04
Speaker 3: So I wan't to talk about an event that's going
31:06
Speaker 3: to be going on in South Charleston and it is
31:09
Speaker 3: happening on Sunday over at the Memorial Ice Arena and
31:13
Speaker 3: the benefits Little Victory Animal Rescue group. It's called Paul's
31:16
Speaker 3: on Ice. Stephanie Howe's with the group and she joins
31:18
Speaker 3: us now to talk about it. Good morning, Stephanie, welcome
31:21
Speaker 3: to the show.
31:22
Speaker 6: Well, good morning, it's I'm glad to be here.
31:24
Speaker 3: All right. Yeah, well, I'm glad to have you here
31:26
Speaker 3: as well. So talk about this big event, because you
31:29
Speaker 3: and I were talking on the phone yesterday about this,
31:32
Speaker 3: and yeah, it's a great fundraiser for the organization, and
31:36
Speaker 3: we'll get in that a little bit later on. But
31:37
Speaker 3: I mean, folks are into the into the whole Ice Games.
31:41
Speaker 3: This is a great opportunity for them to see some
31:43
Speaker 3: world class people right here in South Charleston.
31:46
Speaker 8: Yes it is.
31:47
Speaker 6: And you know, even if you're not into ice skating
31:49
Speaker 6: and you've got kids or something like that, this is
31:51
Speaker 6: a great opportunity to have a Sunday evening family night out.
31:57
Speaker 6: The skaters are literally world renowned JD and Alexis Rappole.
32:01
Speaker 6: They have skated in fifty countries on cruise ships. They
32:06
Speaker 6: hold againess World World Book of Records, and Madison didn't
32:11
Speaker 6: say she too was world renowned. She skates on ships
32:15
Speaker 6: and she's incredible. And then we're flying somebody in her
32:19
Speaker 6: name's Angela Wang and she does cruise ships and things
32:22
Speaker 6: like that. So this is an event that's been never
32:27
Speaker 6: done before for a fundraiser that we know of. So
32:29
Speaker 6: these skaters are all coming together from all over the
32:32
Speaker 6: country to do this event for Little Victories.
32:34
Speaker 3: And let's talk about Little Victories for a little bit.
32:38
Speaker 6: Okay, for those of your listeners that don't know, Little
32:41
Speaker 6: Victories is a no kill animal rescue in owner West
32:44
Speaker 6: Virginia and we are not huge. We don't get any
32:49
Speaker 6: funding from city, county or anything like that. All the
32:51
Speaker 6: money that's raised is my job, and so these events
32:57
Speaker 6: like this fundraiser are what helped keep us going. We
33:01
Speaker 6: have fifty five cats, I mean fifty five dogs and
33:03
Speaker 6: thirty five cats. Our cats are in a free roaming
33:06
Speaker 6: cat house, so they're not in cages or anything like that.
33:09
Speaker 6: It's literally a three bedroom, two bath house and they
33:12
Speaker 6: have free ring, which is pretty cool.
33:14
Speaker 3: I love that. I love the fact that they can
33:15
Speaker 3: do that, I mean, and and I love the fact
33:17
Speaker 3: that we have a lot of great volunteers because you look,
33:20
Speaker 3: you know, we we do animal rescue groups and organizations
33:23
Speaker 3: on the air of the time. We just featured one
33:24
Speaker 3: as a matter of fact, out of Huntington a couple
33:26
Speaker 3: of days ago on our our Wonderful West Virginian segment
33:30
Speaker 3: that Amanda Baron and I do on Metro News Midday,
33:32
Speaker 3: and they talk about the need for this and there's
33:35
Speaker 3: such a there's such an issue, uh, with our with
33:38
Speaker 3: our strays out there, cats, dogs and sometimes other things.
33:40
Speaker 3: I mean, God bless you folks that are that are
33:42
Speaker 3: doing this sort of thing. But you can't do it
33:45
Speaker 3: if you if you don't have money to pull it off.
33:47
Speaker 3: And that's where these events, that's where these events come at.
33:49
Speaker 3: And big hats off to these folks that are going
33:52
Speaker 3: to be at the at the Ice Arena in South
33:55
Speaker 3: Charleston on Sunday, because I mean, they could be doing
33:57
Speaker 3: a hundred and two hundred other things, but they're choosing
34:00
Speaker 3: to be here to help out a great cause, right.
34:02
Speaker 6: And one of the cool things this all went down
34:04
Speaker 6: like in a six week saying because all the skaters
34:07
Speaker 6: are getting ready to go out to do their contracts.
34:11
Speaker 6: Some of them are going on cruise ships. Jad and
34:13
Speaker 6: Alexis are going up to New York to do a
34:15
Speaker 6: big show through Christmas. So I mean they really do
34:20
Speaker 6: have someplace else they could be and not skating on
34:22
Speaker 6: their time off. But it's not going to only be
34:24
Speaker 6: the professionals. It's going to be some learn to Skate,
34:27
Speaker 6: which are people that are just learning to skate. The
34:30
Speaker 6: ice hockey team is going to do a performance to
34:33
Speaker 6: Who Let the Dogs Out? Which ought to be a
34:35
Speaker 6: cute same love them exactly. And then what's really fun
34:39
Speaker 6: too is at intermission we're going to do a Frosty
34:43
Speaker 6: Palls walk across the ice. So we have seven or
34:47
Speaker 6: eight dogs that are going to walk across the ice
34:49
Speaker 6: and they're all adoptable and it'll be like a little
34:51
Speaker 6: parade of adoptable dogs.
34:54
Speaker 3: That sounds great again, We're talking to Stephanie. How about
34:57
Speaker 3: this big ice event? This is going to be going
34:58
Speaker 3: on over at South Charles's raising money for Little Victories,
35:00
Speaker 3: The Dave Island Show and five Any Life is brought
35:02
Speaker 3: to you in part by Hustin's Pizza. This month, pick
35:05
Speaker 3: up a large at inch pepperoni pizza and an order
35:07
Speaker 3: of six meatballs twenty four ninety nine dining delivery or pickup.
35:10
Speaker 3: Visit Huston's Pizza dot com. And you know you mentioned
35:13
Speaker 3: about them doing the performance to Who Let the Dogs Out.
35:16
Speaker 3: That's one of the things that I like about because
35:19
Speaker 3: for so long and I consider skating to be an
35:21
Speaker 3: art somebody who can barely walk up and down steps
35:24
Speaker 3: without falling, Okay, I have no ability whatsoever in that,
35:28
Speaker 3: but one of the things I like about skating and
35:30
Speaker 3: then you can And I had somebody on from the
35:34
Speaker 3: West Virginian Symphony last week and we were talking about
35:36
Speaker 3: some of the things that they do. One of the
35:37
Speaker 3: things I like about where we've kind of come right
35:40
Speaker 3: now is these things that are art likes and as
35:43
Speaker 3: like I said, skating is art to me. It's athleticism obviously,
35:46
Speaker 3: but there's a lot of art involved as well. They're
35:48
Speaker 3: starting to embrace it's not just you know, you just
35:51
Speaker 3: don't hear the pretty classical music when you go out.
35:54
Speaker 3: You hear contemporary stuff. And I love that kind of thing.
35:58
Speaker 3: Talk about that a little.
35:59
Speaker 6: Bit, well, I mean, you kind of have to move
36:02
Speaker 6: on with ages. It's I grew up doing gymnastics, and
36:04
Speaker 6: it was the same thing. It was classical music, you know,
36:07
Speaker 6: very boring piano pieces and things like that. And now
36:11
Speaker 6: they are allowing these quote unquote artists to pick their
36:16
Speaker 6: own thing that's something that fits their personality, which I
36:18
Speaker 6: think that's important, and it also keeps the audiences engaged.
36:22
Speaker 6: You know, if you're sitting there listening to songs you
36:25
Speaker 6: don't know, you might lose your train of thought, you know,
36:27
Speaker 6: not stay concentrated. But I think the fact that they
36:30
Speaker 6: can pick their own pieces the songs, and one of
36:34
Speaker 6: the things that the skaters we're talking about is they
36:37
Speaker 6: normally when they go to do a show that's on
36:41
Speaker 6: a ship, everything's choreographed for them. And this I show
36:46
Speaker 6: has given them the opportunity to do their own choreography
36:49
Speaker 6: and show more of their own personality. So I want
36:52
Speaker 6: your listeners to realize this is such a huge opportunity
36:56
Speaker 6: and you can They can get their tickets now and
37:00
Speaker 6: if they get them at the door, which they are available,
37:01
Speaker 6: but they're five dollars more the day of the show.
37:04
Speaker 6: So if they want to get tickets now, it's at
37:08
Speaker 6: Little Victories dot Org and they can hit the events
37:12
Speaker 6: page and you can buy your tickets there and there's
37:14
Speaker 6: two levels of tickets. You can get a thirty dollars
37:17
Speaker 6: ticket general admission, or you can get the fifty dollars
37:20
Speaker 6: ticket and that gives you a meet and greet, so
37:24
Speaker 6: you can go in and get your picture made with
37:26
Speaker 6: the professional ice skaters, the programs, you can have your
37:29
Speaker 6: program signed by the skaters. And then we also have
37:33
Speaker 6: the cozy lounge with the pups and you can go
37:36
Speaker 6: in with your meet and greet and meet the skaters
37:39
Speaker 6: and the dogs. So just in the plus, the extra
37:43
Speaker 6: twenty dollars is twenty dollars for Little Victories, so you're
37:45
Speaker 6: providing medicine and things like that for dogs and cats.
37:50
Speaker 3: And I also do want to mention that my Metro
37:52
Speaker 3: News Midday co host Amanda Baron alongside Marrily mccalluff, we're
37:55
Speaker 3: going to be in seeing the event, right.
37:57
Speaker 6: Yes, they are actually board president works at w w
38:02
Speaker 6: K and when this all came about, I said to Bill,
38:04
Speaker 6: I'm like, do you think somebody from the station would
38:06
Speaker 6: be willing to mc and Amanda and marri Lee both said, yeah,
38:11
Speaker 6: we'll do it, so you'll get to come out and
38:14
Speaker 6: see them live instead of just on air, and you
38:19
Speaker 6: know you might be able to if they stick around,
38:20
Speaker 6: you might get to do a meet and greet with
38:22
Speaker 6: them as well.
38:22
Speaker 3: Well, it's really not that big a deal with Amanda,
38:24
Speaker 3: I'll tell you it's it's not that big a deal
38:26
Speaker 3: to meet Amanda, just so you know.
38:28
Speaker 6: Yeah, she's I think I think she'll be very nice
38:34
Speaker 6: to people and let them meet her.
38:35
Speaker 3: She's awesome, so she really I hope she's not listening
38:37
Speaker 3: to this because I want to give her the big head.
38:39
Speaker 3: But she's all right, she's alright, we have fun. I'm
38:42
Speaker 3: sure she's like the little sister I never needed.
38:44
Speaker 8: But anyways, a good girl.
38:47
Speaker 3: So and i'll pay. I'll pay good money if you can.
38:50
Speaker 3: And I don't know about their athletic backgrounds, but I
38:52
Speaker 3: know Amanda has told me that she was. She did
38:56
Speaker 3: a lot of athletic stuff. I'm sure Merrily probably did too.
38:58
Speaker 3: But if you can get either one of them out
38:59
Speaker 3: on skates, I'll make a donation of little victories.
39:01
Speaker 2: How's that?
39:02
Speaker 6: Well, I think either if I get them on, get
39:05
Speaker 6: either of them on skates or not, you still should
39:07
Speaker 6: make a donor.
39:08
Speaker 3: Well, okay, all right, all right, all right, duly noted.
39:12
Speaker 3: All right, I appreciate you taking time on your schedule.
39:16
Speaker 3: Be here, give us the time and the location. How
39:19
Speaker 3: to get tickets again?
39:20
Speaker 6: Okay, it's at the South Charleston Memorial Ice Arena, and
39:25
Speaker 6: it's up on off corridor, G up for target and
39:27
Speaker 6: everything is up there, and it's Sunday. The twenty eighth
39:32
Speaker 6: doors open at four forty five. The my mind, I'm like,
39:37
Speaker 6: oh yeah, and it starts at five point thirty. And
39:42
Speaker 6: you can get tickets at Little Victories dot org and
39:45
Speaker 6: just hit the events page and those are available there,
39:48
Speaker 6: or you can get same day tickets, but it's five
39:51
Speaker 6: dollars more so you can save five dollars if you
39:53
Speaker 6: go ahead and get them in advance.
39:55
Speaker 3: All right, So haven't been a pleasure to have you
39:56
Speaker 3: on the show. Best of lucome to your event on Sunday.
39:58
Speaker 3: Thanks a lot.
39:59

Speaker 3: sound familiar to the student loan forgiveness? It does to me.
45:07
Speaker 3: Socialism for me but not for THEE is the motto
45:09
Speaker 3: of the GOP. That was a great job with the
45:12
Speaker 3: rhyming there. From the texture, I'll say that Tex says, Yes,
45:18
Speaker 3: people need to know that not all animals needing forever
45:20
Speaker 3: homes are at the shelter. Please remember rescues that offices
45:23
Speaker 3: and clinics when adopting or donated. And I uh one
45:26
Speaker 3: percent agree with that, and I know Angie Gillenwater, who
45:28
Speaker 3: we have on every Friday from the Cadal Charleston Humane Association,
45:31
Speaker 3: would say the exact same thing. There are very if
45:33
Speaker 3: you want to you wanna forever pet and a texture
45:36
Speaker 3: gets credit for spelling it if you are which is
45:39
Speaker 3: the way we pronounce it in southern West Virginia. Anyway,
45:41
Speaker 3: I would say that there are if you want a
45:45
Speaker 3: pat there are various places to get them, and we
45:48
Speaker 3: think about the shelter because we have a great working
45:50
Speaker 3: relationship here. But Angie will be the first to tell
45:52
Speaker 3: you there are other places. You know, look into these
45:54
Speaker 3: or just help out. And here's the thing about it,
45:56
Speaker 3: when it comes to pets, not everybody can have a
46:00
Speaker 3: house or yard full of dogs and cats. And I
46:02
Speaker 3: completely get this. Some can't have any at all. You
46:04
Speaker 3: live in an apartment, or you know, maybe you're allergic.
46:06
Speaker 3: Still love pets, but you're allergy to it. That's understandable.
46:09
Speaker 3: There's so many different ways that you can help that
46:11
Speaker 3: don't even involve taking in an animal. I mean from donations,
46:16
Speaker 3: volunteering time. A lot of people are willing, a lot
46:20
Speaker 3: of people do that. You know, you can be a foster.
46:21
Speaker 3: You can do so many things, so great point there

46:48
Speaker 3: Midday later Today with thirteen News in Tonight Live Anchor
46:51
Speaker 3: Amanda Baron and Me powered by Selango Law. It is
46:54
Speaker 3: Friday night, which it's not Friday night. I'm already thinking
46:59
Speaker 3: Friday night. It's Friday afternoon and it will be later
47:03
Speaker 3: and that means we're going to introduce you to another
47:06
Speaker 3: great eatery around the state on a lunch spot segment,
47:08
Speaker 3: and I'm going to give you a little spoiler alert
47:10
Speaker 3: because we go all over the state for these lunchpot things.
47:13
Speaker 3: Last last week we were up in the Eastern Panhandle.
47:16
Speaker 3: We go to we Wheeling, Morgantown, southern West Virginia, We've
47:21
Speaker 3: done Beckley. We go all over this week. So I'm
47:24
Speaker 3: not going to tell you who it is. You're gonna
47:25
Speaker 3: have to listen tour in the one o'clock hour. This
47:26
Speaker 3: week's is a fine eating establishment right here in the
47:29
Speaker 3: Kanaal Valley. So it's someplace that you've probably dined before,
47:34
Speaker 3: and somebody said, hey, you need to focus on these folks,
47:37
Speaker 3: so we chose to do it. And so that's our
47:40
Speaker 3: lunch spot today. Somebody from right here a restaurant right
47:43
Speaker 3: here in the kanav Valley. So we got that on
47:44
Speaker 3: the show today. Also, it is homecoming at West Virginia
47:48
Speaker 3: State and the President of State, Eric Cage is going
47:50
Speaker 3: to join us. Raleigh County Commissioner Daniel Hall is on
47:53
Speaker 3: the show today. Over in Raleigh County, they have a
47:57
Speaker 3: real issue with panhandling, and as many areas in the
48:01
Speaker 3: state here, we've talked about it extensively here in Charleston.
48:03
Speaker 3: I know in Morgantown it was a big deal, a
48:05
Speaker 3: lot bigger big deal in Morgantown, it wasn't Charleston, to
48:07
Speaker 3: be honest with you. Well, Daniel Hall is a county
48:11
Speaker 3: commissioner in Raleigh County and they are looking to enact
48:15
Speaker 3: a ordnance and still in the beginning stages, but they're
48:19
Speaker 3: looking to enact an ordinance that would in effect band panhandling.
48:23
Speaker 3: So we're going to talk to Daniel Hall about that.
48:25
Speaker 3: Political columnist Mark Curtis will join us as he does
48:27
Speaker 3: every Friday, and Daniel Woods for the Metro News sports
48:30
Speaker 3: team and news team will join us with our Friday
48:32
Speaker 3: football b lists. It's a great weekend Mountaineers. As I
48:36
Speaker 3: mentioned earlier, they get that Hall of Fame game against
48:41
Speaker 3: Utah coming up tomorrow afternoon. Marshall on the road taking
48:44
Speaker 3: on Louisiana State, a big one for West Virginia State,
48:47
Speaker 3: as I mentioned, as they are observing homecoming states great
48:51
Speaker 3: college games. I'm rocking my Georgia gear today, all right,
48:55
Speaker 3: because you know I'm a big Georgia Bulldogs fan, and
48:57
Speaker 3: Georgia is taking on Alabama. We're going to spank some
49:00
Speaker 3: Crimson tide tomorrow and so I've got my Georgia stuff on.
49:03
Speaker 3: So bottom line is we are going to talk about
49:06
Speaker 3: that in the Football Blitz with Daniel coming up during
49:09
Speaker 3: the two o'clock hour, Metro News Midday with thirteen News
49:12
Speaker 3: and Tight Live anchor Banda Baron and Me coming up
49:14
Speaker 3: at noon today. It's brought to you by Selango Law
49:17
Speaker 3: on this show. Monday, on the local show, Lisa Odie
49:20
Speaker 3: is going.
49:20
Speaker 8: To join us.
49:20
Speaker 3: You may have heard her on the on the car
49:25
Speaker 3: Lee podcast. She's going to join us on the show
49:28
Speaker 3: on Monday, as will Danny Jones from Charleston, Maya. That's
49:30
Speaker 3: coming up on Monday's show. Morgan Pemberton has a story
49:34
Speaker 3: wv Metronews dot com this morning, and we talked about
49:36
Speaker 3: this on the last two local shows last night. The
49:38
Speaker 3: Canaw County Commission did as expected and voted to move
49:42
Speaker 3: forward on a two million dollar project to upgrade the
49:45
Speaker 3: law enforcement training facilities here in the county. Good move here,
49:48
Speaker 3: in my opinion, because not only do law enforcement agencies
49:52
Speaker 3: in Canaw County and the surrounding areas use it, but
49:55
Speaker 3: organizations like the DEA, FBI, Customs, Homeland Security, they all
50:00
Speaker 3: use this great stuff. Good on the Canaw County Commission
50:03
Speaker 3: for doing this last night. I know I had commissioned
50:05
Speaker 3: President Selango on the show Wednesday and Sheriff Joe Crawford
50:07
Speaker 3: on the show yesterday. So me one hundred percent behind this.
50:10
Speaker 3: It's a great thing for the area. And if you
50:12
Speaker 3: want to read exactly how it's gonna work, still in
50:14
Speaker 3: the planning stages. Morgan Pemberton's got the story at wv
50:17
Speaker 3: Metronews dot com. And I hope you had a chance
50:20
Speaker 3: to listen to the interview that I did yesterday on
50:23
Speaker 3: Metro News Midday with the new WVU President Michael T. Benson. Now,
50:26
Speaker 3: he's been all over the state of West Virginia. Yesterday
50:31
Speaker 3: he was in Logan County and went down in the
50:33
Speaker 3: mines at Mountain Laurel in the Sharples area, and then
50:37
Speaker 3: he headed to Boone County. That's where he was when
50:39
Speaker 3: we talked to him on the show yesterday. And of
50:41
Speaker 3: course he's been all over Charleston the last couple of days.
50:42
Speaker 3: Who's at George Washington High School, went down to Lincoln
50:45
Speaker 3: County for a little white Lincoln County High as well.
50:47
Speaker 3: Today he is at the Buckwheat Festival in Preston County
50:50
Speaker 3: and then back to the University of this afternoon for
50:52
Speaker 3: that ceremony where they're going to be naming the WVU
50:55
Speaker 3: Coliseum the Hope Gas Colisseum. I'll say this about President Benson.
51:01
Speaker 3: I like the guy. I really really do. We've interviewed him,
51:04
Speaker 3: he's been president now for a couple of months. We've
51:05
Speaker 3: interviewed him two three times on the show. I really
51:07
Speaker 3: really like the guy, full of enthusiasm, is really taking
51:12
Speaker 3: into West Virginia culture. Told us a story yesterday about
51:15
Speaker 3: going to Tutor's Biscuit for the first time, not realizing
51:18
Speaker 3: that that particular Tutors that he went to in Morgantown
51:20
Speaker 3: closes at two o'clock and he was trying to get
51:22
Speaker 3: his fix on his mouth. Of course, he's going to
51:24
Speaker 3: get the Mountaineer. Can't get the thunder and hurt. You know,
51:26
Speaker 3: he's going to get the Mountaineer. And we had to
51:29
Speaker 3: educate him on that a little bit. I told him
51:30
Speaker 3: a couple of other things that he needs to do
51:32
Speaker 3: to be a true West Virginia and he's on his way.
51:35
Speaker 3: I just like the guy, I really really do. I
51:36
Speaker 3: think he's doing great things in Morgantown. I think he
51:38
Speaker 3: will do great more things in Morgantown. And as far
51:41
Speaker 3: as the stadium naming rights, I know a lot of
51:43
Speaker 3: people don't like it, but look it is. It is
51:47
Speaker 3: a necessary evil. I don't even want to call it evil.
51:49
Speaker 3: It's just necessary in the world of athletics today and
51:54
Speaker 3: now in college sports, which is a big business. It's
51:58
Speaker 3: always been a big business that just what you know
52:01
Speaker 3: about quadrup Over the last couple of years, you got
52:03
Speaker 3: to name them. The stadiums have to be named. And
52:05
Speaker 3: the coliseum in Morgantown was probably one of the last
52:08
Speaker 3: of the larger colleges that didn't have naming rights. Well
52:11
Speaker 3: it's name now it's the Hope Gas Coliseum. I think
52:14
Speaker 3: they're going to kind of shorten it to the Hope Coliseum.
52:16
Speaker 3: We're going to have the CEO of Hope Gas on
52:19
Speaker 3: the show on Metro News Midday on Monday, so we're
52:21
Speaker 3: looking forward to that conversation with him that I think
52:25
Speaker 3: press event. I think it's early this sapterning. I want
52:27
Speaker 3: to say one o'clock with the WV folks and Hope
52:31
Speaker 3: Gas folks. So anyway, I just want to get that
52:33
Speaker 3: in about Michael Benson. I really like the guy. I
52:35
Speaker 3: like this guy too, TJ. Meadows, how's it going, man?
52:38
Speaker 3: Would you rather it be named by some big, huge
52:41
Speaker 3: global company that has no West Virginia time, or that
52:44
Speaker 3: nobody knows what it means? You know, because we've seen,
52:47
Speaker 3: I mean, with all due respect to the Steelers aquer
52:49
Speaker 3: S Stadium, a lot of people had no idea what
52:51
Speaker 3: that was. I mean, I like the fact that it's
52:52
Speaker 3: a West Virginia company. It's a necessity to your point.
52:56
Speaker 3: I like that it's a West Virginia company. And for
52:58
Speaker 3: those that are saying, well, hope, yeah, shouldn't be able
53:00
Speaker 3: to do that. They're a public utility. Look, it's out
53:02
Speaker 3: of their profit. It's not out of your money. It's
53:05
Speaker 3: it's what do they make. And there's nothing wrong with
53:07
Speaker 3: a company making a profit. We open up that can
53:09
Speaker 3: of square. You're preaching to the choir here, buddy. All right,
53:14
Speaker 3: we got Meadows of Wilson going up a talk line.
53:16
Speaker 3: I'll see later today for Metro News midday.
53:18
Speaker 20: Till then, have fun and love somebody.
53:34
Speaker 2: Hs Amy six point five in total stick one oh
