- 0:00Speaker 1: You know, there are games where, you know, fourth quarters
- 0:03Speaker 1: sometimes don't go great, but start to finish. Your kids
- 0:07Speaker 1: played really well tonight. Fifty four points in the second half.
- 0:10Speaker 1: That's was impressive against Villanova tonight, you know.
- 0:13Speaker 2: And I think what might be more impressive is forcing
- 0:16Speaker 2: twenty six turnovers because they're a team that takes pride
- 0:19Speaker 2: in fact they don't turn the ball over. And we
- 0:21Speaker 2: were able to create a lot of opportunities with our
- 0:24Speaker 2: pressure and making some good, really good defensive plays. So
- 0:28Speaker 2: I think, you know, winning the fourth quarter, I thought
- 0:31Speaker 2: we you know, Carol, I thought the guys that went
- 0:33Speaker 2: in the fourth quarter, Carol did a great job on
- 0:35Speaker 2: the boards. We just did a lot of really good things.
- 0:37Speaker 2: That's what we expect when when we put our subs in.
- 0:41Speaker 3: How about speaking about the amount of layups you had,
- 0:44Speaker 3: just whether it's off the dribble or by design in
- 0:47Speaker 3: the offense, pretty impressive.
- 0:50Speaker 2: Well, you know what, I think we try to take
- 0:51Speaker 2: advantage of what we think is our advantage in that
- 0:55Speaker 2: particular situation. And I thought that we had opportunities, and
- 0:58Speaker 2: I thought we could take the off the dribble. You know,
- 1:01Speaker 2: in the past, they've had trouble guarding ball screens, so
- 1:04Speaker 2: we tried to put them in a lot of ball screens,
- 1:06Speaker 2: and you know, it's kind of like a chess match
- 1:08Speaker 2: because you saw what they were trying to do with
- 1:10Speaker 2: They weren't really guarding Sarah Williams outside. We were trying
- 1:13Speaker 2: not to guard twenty five, the kid Carter. So we're,
- 1:16Speaker 2: you know, you're playing a little chess match and trying
- 1:18Speaker 2: to take advantage of what the other team was giving us.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Boy, the chemistry with KK and Sarah was there tonight.
- 1:25Speaker 1: KK matched a career high with seven assists, but that
- 1:27Speaker 1: lob to Sarah was available pretty much all night.
- 1:30Speaker 2: Well, I don't want to say anything, but I could
- 1:32Speaker 2: probably make that pass to Sarah. I think I was
- 1:35Speaker 2: more impressed with kk's defense today. I mean, I thought
- 1:38Speaker 2: she just did a really really good job on Basco.
- 1:41Speaker 2: I thought we frustrated her. I thought we made it very,
- 1:44Speaker 2: very difficult. She finished with eight, she only had eight
- 1:46Speaker 2: in the first half. She was three for thirteen from
- 1:49Speaker 2: the floor, so I thought, you know, and I do
- 1:52Speaker 2: think that her ploor game from the offensive end was
- 1:55Speaker 2: also you know strong. I thought no pun intended with aarristrong,
- 2:02Speaker 2: But I just was really impressed with her defense. I
- 2:05Speaker 2: think she's getting better at that. Not that she was.
- 2:07Speaker 2: She's always been considered a good defender, but I think
- 2:09Speaker 2: now she's really defending with a purpose and understanding that
- 2:13Speaker 2: you don't get unless you're a junior. You know, it
- 2:15Speaker 2: takes time, it takes experience, and I think she's playing
- 2:20Speaker 2: as you would expect a junior to play.
- 2:23Speaker 3: He traveled, he came back home to gamble. Was nice
- 2:26Speaker 3: to I'm sure for the players to be able to
- 2:28Speaker 3: play in front of the crowd, and then you get
- 2:30Speaker 3: to recognize the twenty fifteen sixteen which a lot of
- 2:34Speaker 3: them mentioned that they grew up watching them play how
- 2:36Speaker 3: to be neat for everyone?
- 2:38Speaker 2: Wait, what did they say?
- 2:40Speaker 3: I said they were talking about, Oh I used to
- 2:42Speaker 3: watch Mariah Jefferson or they oh oh yeah that made
- 2:45Speaker 3: me they grew up with them.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Sorry.
- 2:47Speaker 2: Yeah, Well the players were not happy. Like Colleena, Miss
- 2:50Speaker 2: Kata Lewis said something about it. She's like, what are
- 2:52Speaker 2: they talking about? They were little girls? I said, well
- 2:54Speaker 2: they were so. But it's always great for us to
- 2:59Speaker 2: have our former players come back, especially teams that did
- 3:05Speaker 2: and accomplish the things that these two teams did and
- 3:10Speaker 2: We'll never see teams like that again. We'll never see
- 3:12Speaker 2: a team dominate the nca tournament like we did. And
- 3:16Speaker 2: it's just nice to still have them come back and
- 3:19Speaker 2: have them have good relationships with each other and look
- 3:22Speaker 2: forward to seeing each other. And I just think I
- 3:25Speaker 2: need to I need to get on. I'm gonna have
- 3:28Speaker 2: my own podcast at some point so I could tell
- 3:30Speaker 2: the truth of all the stories that I hear that
- 3:32Speaker 2: they make up when they're on other podcasts, because none
- 3:36Speaker 2: of it is true. And I really I was telling
- 3:40Speaker 2: Fee and Lou that today and they're like, I should
- 3:42Speaker 2: have I forget redemption was one suggestion, and I forget
- 3:46Speaker 2: the final say or some other one. But I old
- 3:49Speaker 2: because a lot of it was not Like a lot
- 3:52Speaker 2: of it was not true or is not true when
- 3:54Speaker 2: I hear it. So but you know what, people together,
- 3:58Speaker 2: if the fans enjoy it, they just have to understand
- 4:01Speaker 2: everything that's told on those podcasts are embellished and totally untrue.
- 4:06Speaker 1: You know, I raved about Kolina's career at Yukon, not
- 4:09Speaker 1: only from a three point standpoint, but by the time
- 4:11Speaker 1: she was done a great all around player. Keia Stokes
- 4:14Speaker 1: has really carved out a nice career for her in
- 4:16Speaker 1: the WNBA.
- 4:17Speaker 2: Yeah, Kia. You know, you have to appreciate Kia. She's
- 4:20Speaker 2: been a winner every place she's been. She was a
- 4:23Speaker 2: winner in high school. She came here and she was
- 4:25Speaker 2: a winner and you know, just did her job. You know,
- 4:28Speaker 2: it wasn't fancy she carved out. You know, she was
- 4:31Speaker 2: always a rebounder and a shop blocker. But every time
- 4:36Speaker 2: we needed her to do anything more than that, she
- 4:39Speaker 2: was willing and able. I remember at Duke, Steph Dolson
- 4:41Speaker 2: got in foul trouble and Kiya came in and did
- 4:44Speaker 2: a great job for us. So it was more she
- 4:46Speaker 2: just never you know, she was happy in what she
- 4:50Speaker 2: was doing. And you know, sometimes you have to let
- 4:52Speaker 2: kids do that and enjoy and be good and be
- 4:55Speaker 2: the best at those things. And that's what Kia has done.
- 4:58Speaker 2: And I'm happy that she's had so much success in
- 5:01Speaker 2: how I'm glad that people in the w n b A,
- 5:05Speaker 2: in the in Vegas appreciate everything she does the way
- 5:08Speaker 2: we did here.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Yeah, for sure, Stewie, Steph and Stokes what a threesome
- 5:13Speaker 1: blocking shots.
- 5:15Speaker 2: Well, you know, so that's why when people talk about teams,
- 5:19Speaker 2: I don't know You're never going to have a collection
- 5:21Speaker 2: of players like we had in those in that set
- 5:24Speaker 2: of four. You're just not going to And you know,
- 5:29Speaker 2: I love Paige and I love our team last year,
- 5:31Speaker 2: but they would get killed by that team. It would
- 5:34Speaker 2: not even be it wouldn't even be close. So then
- 5:38Speaker 2: and yeah, I don't think it even be close.
- 5:41Speaker 1: No, that was. And he had Gabby and Fee and
- 5:45Speaker 1: Louke coming off the bench in sixteens. Wow, I mean
- 5:47Speaker 1: we can go on forever. Yeah, c thank you, and uh,
- 5:50Speaker 1: we'll see.
- 5:51Speaker 2: Wait, I thought of you. Did you see what did
- 5:55Speaker 2: I tell you before in the pregame about ashen or
- 5:57Speaker 2: pull up? I think it's automatic and it was automatic?
- 5:59Speaker 3: Did you it it was automatic?
- 6:02Speaker 2: It's automatic? I told you you got to listen to me.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Hey, I'm glad. The one thing that I am very
- 6:09Speaker 1: appreciative about this team is that you guys still value
- 6:12Speaker 1: the mid range. Genos is two points, it's two points.
- 6:15Speaker 1: Very few teams do the mid range as well as
- 6:17Speaker 1: we do.
- 6:17Speaker 2: See and I think it's still automatic too, like Page
- 6:20Speaker 2: was automatic, Brio Hartley. I can name SUPERD. I can
- 6:23Speaker 2: name all the automatic pull ups that.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Countless.
- 6:28Speaker 2: So anyway, I know.
- 6:30Speaker 1: Thank you Chris.
- 6:31Speaker 2: All right, enjoy, take care, Thank you Chris,
