- 0:07[SPEAKER_00]: Texanville Jaguar's fans welcome in to do Vol.
- 0:09[SPEAKER_00]: daily presented by jang Jack.com.
- 0:11[SPEAKER_00]: I'm Jordan Lua.
- 0:11[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks so much for being here Thursday.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_00]: January 8th fired up to preview.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_00]: Jaguars and bills right now.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_00]: It is the wild card matchup between the three seed and the AFC and the six seed.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_00]: Jaguars being the three seed bills being the six seed but don't tell odds makers.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_00]: The bills are favored to come into Jacksonville and win this football game.
- 0:33[SPEAKER_00]: They are one and a half point favorites with an
- 0:36[SPEAKER_00]: a 51 and a half, so score is expected to be close and in the mid 20s, a very entertaining game is expected by Las Vegas.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to dive into it.
- 0:47[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate y'all be in here.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_00]: And I'll check out gymjack.com, pick up some new dooval gear, help support the channel look good while doing it.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_00]: So,
- 0:58[SPEAKER_00]: Jack Wars being favored or excuse me, underdogs at home, you know, Liam Cohen is going to use the disrespect card.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_00]: It's been played weekend and week out for the Jacksonville Jack Wars when they have played quality opponents.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_00]: And it's worked for the most part, you know, you had Sean Peyton talking about the Jack Wars being a small market team, well, the bills can't really do that because builder is a small market as well.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_00]: But you know, Liam Cohen,
- 1:25[SPEAKER_00]: And he's already talked about it on Rich Eyes and Show.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_00]: Liam Cohen is going to play the disrespect card.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_00]: Rich Eyes and talked about, you know, how do you do that now and Liam's like, hey, we're home underdogs.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_00]: We are home underdogs against the bills.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_00]: And then you've also got the fact that everybody's talking about Josh Allen, it's his time now that Patrick Mahomes,
- 1:54[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, Joe Burrow in the Bengals, they haven't been in the playoffs for a while.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_00]: So like, I don't even know why he's included in that.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_00]: I get it, like they did beat the bills once in the playoffs, but come on, it's really about Patrick Mahomes.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_00]: That's what it is.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_00]: Patrick Mahomes, the Kansas City Chiefs have been the Buffaloed bills kryptonite in the playoffs.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_00]: So everyone now assumes Patrick Mahomes not there, Kansas City Chiefs not there.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_00]: It's Josh Allen's time.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe, could be, but there's also the reality that this is not the best bill's team that Josh Allen has had, that it's just not.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_00]: Their defense is not at the peak of its powers overall, but there is a legitimate reason for the bill being favored and being one of the favorites to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_00]: Josh Allen is an absolute alien, unbelievable.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_00]: He ended up scoring 39 touchdowns this year.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_00]: Trevor Lawrence had 38, both quarterback's playing at a high level, but Josh Allen, the things he can do on the football field with his arm and with his physicality is ability to run unwirledly, literally, otherworldly, he is an alien.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_00]: James Cook, he's the leading rusher in the NFL.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_00]: And he is, Liam Cohen talked about it.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_00]: He's so slippery, he's quick, elusive, he's fast.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you're not catching him in the open field.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_00]: Really strong offensive line, both in the past, pro-department and opening up holes for James Cook.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_00]: It's a good offense.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_00]: Well, coached, Joe Brady's a good offensive coach.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_00]: There's no question about that.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_00]: And again,
- 3:36[SPEAKER_00]: arguably the best quarterback in the NFL, if not top three, whatever, James Cook, I think the way he's performing, you have to put him at top five level at running back, really good offensive line, good coaching, play calling, scheming, you also have not the best group of receivers in the NFL, I think is putting it lightly, but Khalil Shakir is a very good player.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_00]: a lot of bill spans are excited about timeroll shivers the rest of the receiving core lack yeah at least some to be desired certainly but but Brandon cooks coming on a little bit
- 4:16[SPEAKER_00]: It'll be interesting to see what he can do.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_00]: And you obviously have the tight end connection with Dalton Concade and Dawson Knox and company.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_00]: So you've got pieces for Josh Allen to work with.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think that anybody would argue that the bills receiving group is as good as the jag wars are receiving group right now.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_00]: But it's not a completely bare cupboard either.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_00]: They can put up points.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_00]: And if Josh Allen goes full Josh Allen,
- 4:45[SPEAKER_00]: They can put up a lot of points.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_00]: They have a well-coached defense.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_00]: Sean McDermott has been there for a very long time.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_00]: Jack Wars, when they hosted the bills in 2017, same coach, same coach, Sean McDermott, pretty crazy.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_00]: So well-coached defense, but Trevor Lawrence pretty well.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_00]: you kind of know what you're getting, they will disguise some things, but it's not one of the more complex defenses in the NFL.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_00]: It's just not.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_00]: They basically are one of the defenses that lean more into the
- 5:23[SPEAKER_00]: we're going to know what we're doing.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to do it well because we've wrapped it so much and we just know exactly how to play our coverage is and play our defense and they don't designate a lot of bodies towards the box normally.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_00]: They do give up a lot of yards on the ground, but they've been pretty effective at slowing down opposing passing attacks this year.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_00]: Just a well coach team in general.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_00]: I think you looked top to bottom overall just a team that could be a force to be reckoned within the playoffs, but
- 5:53[SPEAKER_00]: Jaguars, they're pretty damn good too.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_00]: They've won H straight games.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_00]: Trevor Lawrence playing every bit.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_00]: The prince who was promised right now, the generational talent that everybody thought he was.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_00]: I mentioned Josh Allen scored 39 touchdown.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_00]: Trevor Lawrence scored 38.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_00]: He had one hell of a back half of the season.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_00]: And really, the Jaguars, a lot of people bring up some numbers from the entirety of the season.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_00]: But the Jaguars are a completely different team than they were in the beginning of the year.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_00]: They just are, I mean, you cannot watch them and not come away with that take, like it's a different team.
- 6:30[SPEAKER_00]: So really, I look at the back half of the season and the back half of the season, Trevor Lawrence has been playing the best football in the NFL of any quarterback.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_00]: The passing game design, the ability to attack the entire field is there.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks to Jacobi Myers, thanks to Britain's strange getting healthy, thanks to Brian Thomas Jr. settling into more of a boundary vertical role.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_00]: Keep it outside the numbers type of role for Brian Thomas Jr. Travis E. T. N. and basal Tutan being effective out of the backfield.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_00]: Lee Quint Allen.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_00]: And the backs in general doing a good job in past pro, a Britain strange, you can hit all over the field Parker Washington's development has been amazing.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, the guy has led the Jaguars and receiving yards three straight weeks.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_00]: Not enough people are talking about Parker Washington and the job he's doing.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_00]: And this went from a group of receivers that just felt like they didn't have any identity.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_00]: You drop in Jacobi Myers, you get Britain strange, healthy, and all of a sudden,
- 7:29[SPEAKER_00]: the identities there and it's that they can hit anywhere on the field at any time they're difficult to cover with Liam Cohen's ability to scheme them up and also their own route running and then if you do a good job covering them guess what Trevor Lawrence he can take off and he can beat you with his legs so this passing game is unbelievable right now it really is the jag wars they have outscored
- 7:51[SPEAKER_00]: On this eight game winning streak, they have outscored their opponents by an average score of 29 to 14, including I went over the Broncos.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, everybody likes to talk about, oh, the Jaguar is having beaten anyone.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_00]: While on this winning streak, they went into Denver, and they beat the Broncos 34 to 20, the Broncos had won 11 straight games.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguar is beat them handily, in Denver.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, they have not faced the best competition through the entirety of this winning streak, but
- 8:17[SPEAKER_00]: The impressive thing about the winning streak other than the fact that they did go beat the Broncos, who had the best record in football in their own house and they did it handily like I mentioned.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_00]: They've dominated almost every team they've played.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, you look at winning streaks.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_00]: That Broncos 11 game winning streak, they had a lot of tight games with not very good teams, put it nicely.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars have been beaten the breaks off their opponents for most of this winning streak.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_00]: So, they've been playing some dominant football,
- 8:47[SPEAKER_00]: The run game hasn't been as good lately as it was earlier in the year.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_00]: My opinion strong opinion on that is One look at the passing attack and how well it's doing like do you really want to take the ball out of travel warrants is hands all that much?
- 9:03[SPEAKER_00]: Probably not But two they've just faced a gauntlet in terms of the run defenses that they have gone against as of late, right?
- 9:14[SPEAKER_00]: The Titans over the back half of the season, they've played them twice and they had two really good run defense games against the Jack Wars and they've been one of the better run defense units the Titans have over the back half of the season the Colt have one of the better run defense units in football the Broncos have a really good run defense right so.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_00]: it's it's been a difficult road in terms of running the ball a because you're so good at passing the ball you know you can rely on that b i just think they've placed a lot of really played a lot of really good opponents and so it'll be fascinating to see what the bills because the bills are allowing over five yards per carry and uh... how does that play out with the running game that'll definitely be a factor uh... and the jack's defense
- 10:02[SPEAKER_00]: at shutting down opposing passing attacks lately.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_00]: Not a lot of good passing attacks, that's true.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_00]: But look what they did to the Broncos.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, there was some empty calories when it comes to some of those passing yards for bone X, but shut it down.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely shut it down.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_00]: Anthony Campanyley's zone defense.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_00]: It'll give up some yards, right?
- 10:25[SPEAKER_00]: But they went with high effort and intensity, which is a direct reflection of their coach.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_00]: They win with talent.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, there's talent all over that defensive field.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_00]: Right?
- 10:35[SPEAKER_00]: You look at the defensive front.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_00]: You've got Josh Hines Allen and Trayvon Walker, Eric, arms to Devon, Hamilton.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_00]: One of the best nose tackles in the game at helping stop the run and the Jaguars do have the best run defensive football going up against the best rushing offense and football.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_00]: Another fascinating aspect to this game.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_00]: But again, they win with ever-intensity talent.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_00]: Their linebackers, incredible foil, Luke and Devon Lloyd Dennis Gardeck, and then you look at what the secondary talent has been doing.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_00]: Antonio Johnson, the talent was always there.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_00]: They've gotten out of Antonio Johnson.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_00]: Buster Brown playing at a crazy level.
- 11:11[SPEAKER_00]: A level I never expected to see him at.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_00]: Jarring Jones playing really well.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_00]: And then you also have Greg Newsom doing a good job.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_00]: You have your other safety there.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_00]: Murray and your wingard.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_00]: Ray Alm Lane at times.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_00]: doing a really good job and they're mixing up their personnel in terms of the defense like a lot of times they're having three safeties out there having a safety kind of drop down and be able to help them defend the run but also be really good in coverage so that's kind of an answer that they've had lately defensively but Campanela's own defense that will give up some yards right.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_00]: But they have crazy post-nap cover rotations on the back end.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_00]: That makes it really difficult for quarterbacks.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_00]: And then upfront, they deploy a ton of different kind of exotic looks if you will.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_00]: They don't blitz the most in the league, but they will blitz you.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_00]: They will also sim pressure you in a big way.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_00]: And you just don't know where the heat is coming from.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_00]: difficult to identify that, take care of your front, and then all of a sudden post-snap, the coverage has changed, and a guy isn't where you expected him to be, and it's like a crush.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_00]: Not surprisingly, the Jag Course have forced so many turnovers this year.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_00]: The Jags do have a big home field advantage this year, there are seven and one at the bank.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_00]: They have not lost to an FC opponent in Jacksonville, and
- 12:33[SPEAKER_00]: I always see the Jagger 7 and 2 at home this year.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_00]: One of those home games was in London.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_00]: That is not a home game.
- 12:39[SPEAKER_00]: It's just not.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_00]: That's a neutral site game.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_00]: I don't care what the NFL says.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_00]: But in the friendly confines of Everbank Stadium, the Jagger is our 7 and 1 this year.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_00]: Their average score at home is 31 to 15.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_00]: Their averaging doubling up their opponents, including their loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
- 12:59[SPEAKER_00]: This is a team that basically had a rough stretch
- 13:03[SPEAKER_00]: or they lost three of four ram, seahawks and Texans, that's a pretty brutal group, right?
- 13:08[SPEAKER_00]: But outside of that, they have been absolutely money this year.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_00]: And this again, not the same team that you saw early on, it's just not.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot of different players involved and they have figured out really how to best utilize the talent that they have and take advantage of their opponents.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_00]: Sure.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_00]: And even though the Jaguar's during their winning streak the only big impressive win from a opponent's standpoint is the Broncos, they have beaten the Broncos, the Panthers, playoff team, 49ers, playoff team, Texans, playoff team, Chargers, playoff team.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_00]: They've beaten a lot of playoff teams.
- 13:50[SPEAKER_00]: So people call on the Jaguar as a paper tiger.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's a little bit off the mark.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_00]: Now the bills, they do have a winning record on the road.
- 13:57[SPEAKER_00]: They're five and three.
- 13:58[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, that's not like,
- 14:00[SPEAKER_00]: outstanding, but the winning record on the road is hard to come by in the NFL.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_00]: But as a franchise, they have not won a playoff road game since 1992.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_00]: I was one years old.
- 14:13[SPEAKER_00]: The Jack Wars weren't even a franchise.
- 14:15[SPEAKER_00]: The last time the bills won on the road in the playoffs.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_00]: Bills also haven't won in Jacksonville since Josh Allen was in high school.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_00]: There's that aspect to it as well.
- 14:27[SPEAKER_00]: Will there be fireworks in this one, I think, so to extremely town to quarterback's playing at the highest level right now, I think in large part that's going to define the game.
- 14:36[SPEAKER_00]: Of course, you have the ground game that will be important as well.
- 14:39[SPEAKER_00]: If one of the two teams can kind of control the game a little bit more on the ground, that will limit opportunities for the opposing quarterback, just kind of manage the clock a little bit more.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_00]: that can help you out.
- 14:54[SPEAKER_00]: As I mentioned, the bills boast the best running game in the NFL, while the Jaguars have the best run defense in the NFL.
- 15:01[SPEAKER_00]: But as much as you want to focus on that, I think that the passing games will enlarge part determine the outcome of this one.
- 15:07[SPEAKER_00]: I really do.
- 15:09[SPEAKER_00]: That's been the case for the last two months in Duval.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_00]: I think that will continue to be the case for the Jaguars.
- 15:14[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be about Trevor Lawrence, Liam Cohen, and this group of receivers and of course your offensive line and when you talk about injuries, both teams have a pretty significant injury right now.
- 15:24[SPEAKER_00]: Cole Van Lannan, dealing with the knee injury, did not practice on Wednesday.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_00]: Starting left tackle, you won't have to be available if you're the Jack Wars.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, you do have different alternatives if you need, if Cole Van Lannon can't go.
- 15:38[SPEAKER_00]: It felt like after the game, he talked about he was clear to return and he looked all right after the game, well, he'd be good to go.
- 15:50[SPEAKER_00]: My guess is yes, but that is purely a guess.
- 15:53[SPEAKER_00]: Anybody who tells you otherwise, I think, is trying to blow smoke a little bit.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_00]: uh... and then max hairston starting corner for the bills really talented speedster aggressive young corner for the bills lot of people were looking for the match up between him and Brian Thomas Jr. we're not going to get that at all likelihood uh... you also have the bills having a place there knows tackle on i are yesterday Jordan Phillips so uh... definitely some injuries that will affect the game it's not like
- 16:25[SPEAKER_00]: You know, COVID-19 land is on a great job.
- 16:29[SPEAKER_00]: This doesn't look like a matchup where Walker little can't function at left tackle if he has to, but I do think COVID-19 land will play if I have to guess on that one.
- 16:40[SPEAKER_00]: And would like to remind you.
- 16:44[SPEAKER_00]: Club Jaguar.
- 16:45[SPEAKER_00]: Tonight, normally we do it on Wednesdays today.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_00]: We're doing it.
- 16:48[SPEAKER_00]: Or this week we're doing it today on Thursday, 830 over on UCF Jaguar's channel.
- 16:53[SPEAKER_00]: Go check it out 830 PM.
- 16:54[SPEAKER_00]: That is going to be a lot of fun getting ready for this Jaguar's and bills match up.
- 16:58[SPEAKER_00]: I appreciate y'all tuning in, supporting the channel.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_00]: And if you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe.
