- 1:17Tonight we are going to start in Hebrews chapter 5 verse 11 and
- 1:26going to go through that for this next hour.
- 1:29So with that said, we'll have we didn't pray for a while.
- 1:36I can't remember. I can never remember.
- 1:38I always think I'm going to have this figured out ahead of time.
- 1:42I think I had Andrew the last time.
- 1:44Melvin or Bland or somebody. Yeah, go ahead and.
- 1:47Pray, sure, let's pray. Father, we bless you tonight and
- 1:51we thank you for this opportunity to get into your
- 1:54word and Father, guide us with your spirit as we go through
- 2:00your word tonight that we can speak words of life and and we
- 2:04can be look to you for our strength and and our power.
- 2:10Father, we thank you that you're so faithful and thank you for
- 2:15that you have given your son Jesus to die on the cross for
- 2:18our sins that we can have eternal life.
- 2:22And Father, I just, there's many people that are on the fence of
- 2:27not sure if they want to trust in Jesus or, or not.
- 2:31And so, Father, I just pray that that you would continue to
- 2:35prompt people and to move with your spirit and Father, that we
- 2:39could be a tool for that and and that we could open our eyes and
- 2:44open our ears and our hearts mainly, Father, that that your
- 2:47word would penetrate deeply tonight.
- 2:49We thank you and we honor you. You're so faithful.
- 2:52We love you and praise you in Jesus name, Amen.
- 2:56That we do. All righty.
- 3:00I'm going to read verse 11 here and tie it back to a little bit
- 3:05what we were reading earlier, just to kind of tie this context
- 3:10in, and then I'll pitch it over to Aaron.
- 3:13So verse 11 says of whom we have many things to say and hard to
- 3:18be uttered. Seeing ye are dull of hearing.
- 3:21This is chapter 5, verse 11 of Hebrews.
- 3:24And so the the thing that's hard to be hard to say, hard to be
- 3:29uttered is I mean, we just got done talking about Melchizedek,
- 3:33which would be a character maybe I guess for lack of better
- 3:38words, that there's not a lot of discussion.
- 3:41It's, it's something that you would have to focus on and think
- 3:44on to know and get to, to figure out who this is and how he
- 3:49operates, how this all works. As I mean, it's kind of
- 3:52interesting if you read in Chapter 7 who this Melchizedek
- 3:56is. So he's just saying that this is
- 3:59a hard subject. But the reason that he thinks
- 4:02that it's hard is interesting. And with that, I'll turn it over
- 4:06to you here. Yeah, I don't think I came up
- 4:10this on my own. I think I heard somebody else
- 4:12say it, but I think it's interesting.
- 4:14Their lack their, their dullness of hearing seems like it kept us
- 4:21back from some good information. In other words, like he's like,
- 4:25I've got a few more things I'd like to say, but you all can't
- 4:28stand it. And I think that's that that's
- 4:31one of the things that really stands out to me in this verse
- 4:33is it sounds like we could have got some more information, maybe
- 4:37even more than what Chapter 7 actually gives, had they been
- 4:40more mature in the faith and been more able to hear.
- 4:45Because this is going to like this verse is going to introduce
- 4:49us to the rest of this chapter. I think they're the the idea in
- 4:52the rest of this chapter and the beginning of chapter 6 as well,
- 4:57because he's building off the point that they are dull of
- 5:00hearing, I think with the next few verses.
- 5:02But that's that's really all I have to say about.
- 5:11It Yep, what we would experience a lot today.
- 5:16There's people that are serious and there's people that are
- 5:20enjoying their life, but they want to add, they want to add
- 5:24something, some religion to their lifestyle to kind of ease
- 5:29their conscience to a certain extent.
- 5:33But they're not, they're not, they're never willing to go all
- 5:37the way and be sold out. And because of that, they don't
- 5:41hear things. They're they're defensive and
- 5:44they're always not wanting to be challenged.
- 5:49They don't want to be rebuked in any way.
- 5:55They they want to, they want to do their own thing.
- 5:58I think they're just all of hearing.
- 6:00They can't hear anything because it just upsets them.
- 6:06Yeah, that's right. They it's it's interesting that
- 6:09he says and ye seeing ye are dull of hearing.
- 6:14It's not he wanted to share the information that he was
- 6:18withholding, like you said, Aaron with them, but it was
- 6:24because of them that they were dull of hearing.
- 6:28And like we've been studying, you know, he's been comparing
- 6:32Christ to the angels and, and, and upholding Christ and, and we
- 6:37just got done reading how he is as Melchizedek.
- 6:42And, and the other flip side of that is they were we touched on
- 6:47this before that they were relying on the law.
- 6:51And so it when you rely on like you were saying Andrew, when you
- 6:56rely on religion or or the law, then you are going to be a dull
- 7:03of hearing. Yeah, can't hear you.
- 7:05That's right. So them.
- 7:09Yeah, The thing that stands out to me about this, besides what
- 7:12you guys have already mentioned very similar things to that, is
- 7:16just the the boldness or the bluntness of the author.
- 7:21I, I feel like if I were to speak this way to anybody in
- 7:26particular to beloved Christians, I would feel like
- 7:28I'm kind of being a little bit proud, kind of arrogant.
- 7:31Like if I were to say to you brothers, I understand a certain
- 7:34passage and you guys aren't quite following me and say, the
- 7:37reason you guys can't understand this is you're not there yet.
- 7:40You're kind of dull of hearing. You're not, you're just not
- 7:42paying attention. You're not listening very well.
- 7:44You're a little slow. The, the principles that he
- 7:51wants them to understand are so basic and so obvious, like the,
- 7:56the Hebrew Christians are considering going back to
- 8:00Judaism. And he's like, you guys must be
- 8:04dull of hearing, 'cause you don't understand these concepts
- 8:06of Melchizedek. I'm gonna teach you a few things
- 8:09here and then we'll come back to this topic when I feel like
- 8:11you're maybe a little more ready.
- 8:12But right now it's like you're, you're just, you're just kind of
- 8:15slow in the head, like something's wrong with you here.
- 8:17You're dull of hearing. And so it's a pretty sharp
- 8:20rebuke. I, I think it gives us some
- 8:23instruction on how we can talk at times.
- 8:26But obviously some people take that way too far and are always
- 8:29just rebuking. They have a whole ministry of
- 8:32rebuke and rebuttal and just constantly challenging everyone.
- 8:35The author is pretty careful to use that kind of language, but
- 8:37when he does, it comes out pretty straightforward.
- 8:40Like, I'd love to talk to you about this, but you guys
- 8:42wouldn't understand anyway, You know, it's, it's a pretty,
- 8:45pretty blunt remark. Yeah, I mean, you've, you've had
- 8:49that conversation, standing face to face with a guy visiting and
- 8:53he's watching over your shoulder at the Turkey herd in the field
- 8:56behind you. And he hears you talk, but he's
- 8:59not hearing you. Yeah.
- 9:00It happens with the children once in a while.
- 9:03They hear your words, but they're not hearing.
- 9:05In other words, like it's almost like he's, when he uses the word
- 9:09hearing, it's, it's actually talking about comprehension or
- 9:13understanding almost, you know, like it's not that they were
- 9:16deaf. It's not that they couldn't hear
- 9:17what he was saying. It's that they it wasn't.
- 9:20It wasn't actually. Registering.
- 9:23Head of training to the point that it actually caused them to
- 9:25understand something. All right, verse 12 and just
- 9:32continues here for when the time ye ought to be teachers ye have
- 9:36need that one teach you again, which be the first principles of
- 9:39the oracles of God and are become such as have need of milk
- 9:44and not of strong meat and just goes on with what we were
- 9:48talking, but I'll let you make comments on that air.
- 9:53I mean, I think that the one thing we should point out is
- 9:57that he's not saying they're dull of hearing because they're
- 10:02new to the teaching, right? He's saying the time has passed
- 10:08in which you ought to be able, you know, Paul told Timothy, he
- 10:11said, I want you to teach faithful men that will be able
- 10:15to teach others also, right? So Paul's, Paul's saying you
- 10:22should, you should learn this in in such a manner.
- 10:25And you've had, and he's saying to these people, you've had
- 10:28enough time that you ought to be handing these things to the next
- 10:32generation. But he goes on to say that
- 10:35actually what, what you've done is you've heard these things.
- 10:39And he doesn't give us the explanation for what it was.
- 10:41I don't know if it was that they were too busy.
- 10:43I don't know if it was just the pressure of, of being pressed
- 10:47back into Judaism. I don't really know what the
- 10:49answer is, but that he says the time has passed, that you ought
- 10:54to be able to pass it to the next person, but you actually
- 10:58need to refresh your course, right?
- 11:00I mean that that's what he's saying.
- 11:01He's saying the time for when, for the time you ought to be
- 11:05teachers, you have need that one teach you again, right?
- 11:09I mean, in other words, rather than have moved on to being the
- 11:12one that's able to explain things to the next person, they
- 11:16need things explained to them again, right?
- 11:19I mean that that is literally what he's saying and he says
- 11:23which be the first principles. He, I think he's going to, I
- 11:27think that he's going to define first principles in chapter 6,
- 11:32right? When we get there, he's going to
- 11:33tell us what those first principles were.
- 11:36But and let me say this milk, the milk of the word.
- 11:41What? What's that verse about people
- 11:44desiring the sincere milk of the word?
- 11:46Like, it's not that the milk of the word is bad, right?
- 11:50I mean, it's a great thing. Yeah.
- 11:52But you should be able to move on from the milk.
- 11:55That's what he's saying to these people.
- 11:57The milk of the word is a sweet thing.
- 11:58It has. In fact, you could say that all
- 12:03of us were saved by the milk of the word, right?
- 12:05I mean, all of us were. But he's saying you should be
- 12:09able to go on and swallow. Like in other words, he's
- 12:13defining somewhat of what he said in verse 11.
- 12:16You can you would get choked on it if I tried to tell you what I
- 12:20could tell you about Melchizedek, right?
- 12:22You get choked on it, It would be too much for you.
- 12:25So, but that's that's. As a matter of fact, you know
- 12:29milk has all the nutrients you need to live but but it's not
- 12:35good for you forever so. That's right.
- 12:38Yeah, I think Melvin made a good point.
- 12:43I think I think the author's frustrated that they believe
- 12:48this law and they're still so immature that they would fall
- 12:53for these other ways, you know, fall for going back to the law.
- 12:58It's like, look, as long as you guys have been there, you should
- 13:01have been exercising, you should have been studying.
- 13:03You should be mature to the point where you tell someone,
- 13:08whoever it is that is trying to get you back under the law and
- 13:11be able to defend yourself, be able to defend your faith.
- 13:15More than just Jesus died for me, like more than you need to
- 13:21realize you're a Sinner and realize there's one sacrifice.
- 13:26Jesus went through the veil within the veil and he bought
- 13:30brought redemption for us and it wasn't the law.
- 13:33We now have a new and a living way and he's just frustrated
- 13:39that they're dropping Christ, that one good sacrifice that is
- 13:43better than bulls and goats and they're dropping that or
- 13:48something they could not say. And he's like you should be able
- 13:52to defend you by now. You should have enough of a
- 13:55workout in Bible study and teaching and learning and all
- 13:59this time and you should be able to hold the line and instead
- 14:05you're back to square one. We'll have to get you saved
- 14:07again almost, or like get you to, you know, the first
- 14:10principles again, like I have to run you through the first phase
- 14:14again and shoot you on the second phase or third phase.
- 14:16And it's like, I can't even tell you some deep stuff.
- 14:19And I would, I would like to guess it would like sound like a
- 14:23like Romans 6 if he was able to teach them the way he wanted
- 14:26them to. Because if they're dealing about
- 14:29trying to deal with the old man and the flesh and, you know,
- 14:33trying to make some sacrifice and do a little bit of things to
- 14:35try to make an atonement, they needed to hear Romans 6.
- 14:39Maybe that's what it was. Maybe they couldn't, you know,
- 14:43or maybe he didn't. Maybe they needed to hear what
- 14:45Timothy, a book of Timothy says. You know what your time is just
- 14:48fried. You're being fried.
- 14:53You. Maybe he needed to say some of
- 14:55those things, but he didn't because he wasn't able to hear
- 14:57it. I don't know.
- 15:00Yep, tell them. Yeah.
- 15:02I think it's interesting what it says there.
- 15:05It says you have need that one teach you again.
- 15:09Yeah. So in other words, they they do
- 15:12it right. Yeah.
- 15:13And but they had to be taught again.
- 15:16And, you know, sometimes us, as you know, believers have been
- 15:22believers for many years, been born again for many years.
- 15:26You know, I remember when I first got saved.
- 15:28And Liam can attest to this. You know, when we first got
- 15:31saved, we were having like there was a revival in our community
- 15:35that happened there and and we would have Bible study, right?
- 15:39And I mean, we were like growing like we were drinking milk like
- 15:44big time and we were growing like rapidly, right?
- 15:48But then as we progressed, we grew to milk meat, you know, not
- 15:55we didn't keep drinking the milk.
- 15:57But sometimes what happens I think is, is we get kind of
- 16:01tired of like just the meat, like like in other words, we get
- 16:05to a point where we think that sometimes we think that, well,
- 16:09I, I know everything right? And, and I, I don't what, why do
- 16:12I need to know more or, or whatever.
- 16:14But but when we have that kind of an attitude, then God, then
- 16:19we become dole hearing like, you know, God isn't going to be
- 16:22telling us that we're not going to be growing anymore.
- 16:24And I think that's kind of what happened here, probably with
- 16:28these people. Maybe I so anyway, it's just
- 16:32interesting that they were they knew it, but they had to be
- 16:37taught again that they needed they went back to the milk.
- 16:42Imagine eating steak and eating meat and going back to milk.
- 16:46I mean, milk is good with apple pie, right or something.
- 16:48But but if you're eating steak, you're not going to go back to
- 16:51just drinking milk. For.
- 16:55Sure wasn't too tough. I've had a bit of a tooth issue
- 17:00on both sides this last week and sometimes I'm like, I should
- 17:03just eat soft foods for a bit, but I just can't imagine.
- 17:06Like I wanna, I wanna chew on something, right?
- 17:09But here he says that the time is that you ought to be
- 17:14teachers. I don't think he's necessarily
- 17:16saying that the whole Church of you should be now teaching and
- 17:20preaching the gospel as a a minister of the gospel as like a
- 17:23standing up in front of people and educating them and whatnot.
- 17:26There's many different ways of teaching in Colossians chapter
- 17:293, he says let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in
- 17:32all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in
- 17:34psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in
- 17:37your hearts to the Lord. So the gospel should so
- 17:40penetrate every single one of us from preacher down to the
- 17:44mechanic, whoever you are, whatever you do that it comes
- 17:47out in psalms and hymns and it should be a melody on your
- 17:50heart. It should should fill you up to
- 17:52the point where you can't help but teach somebody you just your
- 17:57life is instructing people. And then at at a moment's
- 18:00notice, you can share the gospel.
- 18:01And I've often challenged people and to say something along these
- 18:04lines, like, could you tell me the gospel in less than two
- 18:08minutes from the Scriptures? Could you open the Bible and
- 18:11show me the depth and the beauty of the gospel, like point me to
- 18:15some of your favorite texts and show me what Christ has actually
- 18:18done for us. And it's amazing how many
- 18:20Christians are actually fairly stumped.
- 18:23They, they have a few highlight verses.
- 18:24I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
- 18:27And you know, it doesn't even apply to what they're thinking
- 18:30about. But to me, when I, when I'm
- 18:32preaching or teaching through the book of Hebrews now on my
- 18:34WhatsApp group, there, there are some people who are responding
- 18:38with thoughts like, man, that is so refreshing.
- 18:40I, I haven't heard this in a little bit and it really excites
- 18:43me and it thrills me. Then there's some people who are
- 18:45like, I've never heard this before.
- 18:48And to me, I'm like, you've been a Christian for five years, 10
- 18:52years, 15 years. You haven't heard these things
- 18:54before. What is the church teaching if
- 18:56you haven't taught things like the book of Hebrews 567-8910?
- 19:01Those those chapters are just the most astounding life giving
- 19:06securing verses and passages in the scriptures that we should
- 19:10all wrap our minds around. And of course, every time I go
- 19:13through it, I'm refreshed again and it almost like I had need of
- 19:16it to be taught to me again too. But it shouldn't be that we have
- 19:20to constantly like Andrew's got this pet peeve of people who
- 19:23need their hands held for everything.
- 19:25What do I do now? What do I do next?
- 19:27Why don't you have the life of God in you?
- 19:31First principles of the oracles of God don't.
- 19:33Don't you know what Christ has done?
- 19:35Can you not take a few steps? Or are you, as the next verse
- 19:38says, still just obeyed? That's right.
- 19:43Yeah, the word said. I think it's in John.
- 19:45It says that out of your belly should throw rivers of living
- 19:48water. And that's not talking about
- 19:50just the pastors or the OR teachers, you know, that's
- 19:53talking about everyone that is a believer.
- 19:56So that's a good point, Dan. I like that.
- 19:59But I think it's a very good for someone to be mentoring someone
- 20:04or walking along someone that is just a new believer that not you
- 20:10don't have to be all the time, but when I have done that, it's
- 20:14really challenged me, you know, and you don't have to be a
- 20:17teacher in front of a church to be a teacher.
- 20:21I like that, Dan. Yeah.
- 20:24I'll, I'll let you go ahead. Andrew here in a second.
- 20:26Dan briefly mentioned his WhatsApp group.
- 20:29Dan, can you put a link or something to that for those of
- 20:33you that are listening? That is a really interesting
- 20:35little short, what would you call it devotional kind of thing
- 20:39that you do daily, 5 minute little lesson and also or maybe
- 20:43your YouTube link or something. Dan, I just would encourage
- 20:47listeners to plug in He's, he's got some really good stuff
- 20:50there. So, yeah, Camp says on the chat
- 20:54just now that growth is to be expected when verse by verse
- 20:58expository Bible teaching is available in your life.
- 21:01And I would agree with that 100%.
- 21:03But go ahead, Andrew. I interrupted.
- 21:05You No, that's fine. I I just wanted to highlight
- 21:07what Dan was saying about not being teachers because I can't
- 21:14think of the verse, but it says somewhere that we should always
- 21:17be able to give an answer. Oh yeah.
- 21:19And that's I think a believer, like a believer should always be
- 21:24able to speak of the hope that is in them, you know, be able to
- 21:29get answered a person about the hope that we have.
- 21:33And and I think that's what these guys were lacking is they
- 21:38weren't well versed. They, they weren't, they weren't
- 21:42established on solid ground like someone that has strong meat,
- 21:47you know, was mature. And so when somebody would come
- 21:50along with doctrines of devils, they would just embrace them
- 21:53like they would, they wouldn't take that to teach and defend.
- 21:57They would just, they would just, oh, that sounds good.
- 22:01It's like they're unlearned. Like then the the evangelist has
- 22:05to come back and teach them all over again.
- 22:08Like, no, no, this is where we came from.
- 22:10Because these people did come from the law.
- 22:14These these are converted Jews, if I'm not mistaken.
- 22:19So like, don't you see that that's going, you know, you just
- 22:24came there like, so that's what I think when it means like I got
- 22:27to teach you again, you're getting swindled to go back as
- 22:32far as the doll of hearing. I've had a Bible study with a
- 22:34person that is law minded and when they get law minded, they
- 22:38do not hear anything. You can go through a whole
- 22:41chapters, like four or five chapters we went through and
- 22:44they don't hear it because all they got in their head is that
- 22:47certain law verse they have in their mind.
- 22:49And yeah, I I totally get it. Yep, and and it's going to go on
- 22:55to to this. So I'll just I'll just read
- 22:57ahead if it goes on for everyone that uses milk is unskillful in
- 23:02the word of righteousness, for he is a babe.
- 23:05And I tell you what, in my experience, there's, there's a
- 23:11lot of people, maybe I'm one of them, but there's a, there's a
- 23:13lot of people that are unskillful in the word of
- 23:16righteousness. It goes on here in a little bit,
- 23:19you know, to having their senses exercised.
- 23:22That's, that's a miss in the, in the church today, whether it's
- 23:26because we're just spoon feeding them, you know, if that's the
- 23:30how we do in America and Canada, I guess there's Canadians
- 23:33missing too. But like in the modern church, I
- 23:35guess is what I'm trying to say. We we've gotten so used to just
- 23:39having this baby food grinder, taking it and just dissolved
- 23:43everything together for us to just kind of, you know, tickle
- 23:46our ears and then we go home and and we never actually have to
- 23:50look and and study. But go ahead Air on that.
- 23:54I was just, I was going to kind of look at it in a little
- 23:57different light. He's not saying again, I'll kind
- 24:02of come at it from this thing. He's not saying that a babe in
- 24:05Christ is not in Christ. He's just saying you shouldn't
- 24:09always be a baby. You know, another, in other
- 24:12words, what I'm getting at is you could, you could give the
- 24:18gospel to somebody in like, I don't know, when you all said in
- 24:22a couple minutes, you could tell them that someone died for their
- 24:25sins. And just like in, in the very
- 24:29context of this is they would maybe not in, in that short,
- 24:34your own version or not version, but your own words give them the
- 24:38gospel and they they're not going to know all the details
- 24:42there is about Christ, right? I mean, think about the context
- 24:45of this. He's saying, I would like to
- 24:48tell you more about how that Christ is after the order of
- 24:51Melchizedek, but you can't hear it.
- 24:54So he's saying they have heard about Christ and and a babe.
- 24:59We'll use that term, a babe could hear about Christ, believe
- 25:03that story and not know much about what Christ.
- 25:07In other words, they might not even have the full comprehension
- 25:10of how he is God, right? But so that's what he's saying,
- 25:15or I mean, that's what I see in this is everyone that uses milk.
- 25:18In other words, if you need to be taught all the details of
- 25:23just who Christ is, you're still in the baby form.
- 25:27Right. But you know, that's what I kind
- 25:30of see in that everyone that uses milk is unskillful in the
- 25:32word of righteousness, for he is a babe.
- 25:35Like in the context of this, it's not knowing, not being able
- 25:39to tell all the details of how Christ is like this or how
- 25:43Christ accomplishes this. You know, like that's a lot of
- 25:46what the book of Hebrews is, is telling what Christ
- 25:50accomplished, like being an order of Melchizedek or what he
- 25:54accomplished that the law was a shadow of, right.
- 25:58You know, he's going to go on in the later chapters to say that
- 26:01this was just a shadow. It didn't actually do anything.
- 26:04It was just a shadow of what Christ was going to come and do.
- 26:07And so, like I said, I, I guess I'm just saying that it, it's,
- 26:12it is acceptable for a new Christian to not know all these
- 26:16details, but it wasn't acceptable for these people to
- 26:19not know them as long as it had been since they had first heard
- 26:23them, right. In other words, that's his point
- 26:25for the time that you ought to be teachers.
- 26:28That was unacceptable that they still didn't know these things
- 26:32or wasn't able to hear these things.
- 26:33There had been too much time of past And he said, that's
- 26:36unacceptable. You've not you've not went to
- 26:38the point you should have been. When I first believed, there was
- 26:43a lot of stuff about Jesus and and living in and how that
- 26:47affects my life that I didn't know.
- 26:49You know that I do now, Andrew. Yeah, I think the biggest thing
- 26:54that happens is right when you believe and you get saved.
- 26:58It's so big and it's so new that you would be stumped if someone
- 27:03would probably say, hey, explain it.
- 27:06Like what? Tell me about this.
- 27:09Absolutely. Probably the only thing we would
- 27:10notice is I was a Sinner and I believed, yeah, you know, I, I,
- 27:17I just know that he died in his blood and covered my sin.
- 27:20I, I, I or we might just say, I know I was lost and now I'm
- 27:25found or I know that I didn't have peace and now I have peace.
- 27:30I know I didn't. You know, it's very short.
- 27:32Like it's very. But if someone was would have
- 27:35came up to me right when I got saved and said, Hey, what do you
- 27:38think of the Catholic religion or what do you think of Mormon
- 27:42or what do you think of this and that like all these other
- 27:46doctrines, I would have been like, well, you know, and I
- 27:54think there's an author saying, look, by now you should be able
- 27:57to defend yourself and be teachers when someone challenges
- 28:00you. Again, I know I'm repeating
- 28:01myself, but to Leon's point is I think we're a little bit to
- 28:07blame, which comes back to my frustration that I shared before
- 28:12we went live is we have especially in America.
- 28:17Well, it's all over conditioned the people of God that in order
- 28:23for them to hear God and to get to know him and who he is and
- 28:28what he is. If you have to come to a
- 28:30building and hear from the man of God and he has to teach you.
- 28:36And although that happens, but I think we've we've abused it so
- 28:42bad that it's caused people to not even exercise their own
- 28:47senses and get skillful in the word themselves.
- 28:51Because if they can just be a customer, if they can just come
- 28:55to this organization, put some money in there and get their
- 29:02spiritual Nuggets, their spiritual emotional latte and
- 29:06have a nice drink and go home and do it again the next week
- 29:11and put their $50.00 in the bucket and get their latte,
- 29:14they're unskillful. They're just used to drinking a
- 29:16latte that's fed to them. And they never are able to
- 29:19defend themselves in the faith. And I think that's the
- 29:23frustration. They do tell them.
- 29:27Yeah, and you know when that happens, Andrew, when you're
- 29:31going to church and you're just being fed by one person and
- 29:35you're not studying the word yourself, we we become
- 29:41unskillful. And it's going to say in the
- 29:43next verse what it looks like to be skillful.
- 29:48But when that happens, the the actually how the body of Christ
- 29:53is supposed to operate the the church, the body of Christ is
- 29:57supposed to operate according to the Scriptures doesn't happen
- 30:00because in Ephesians it says it talks about the works of the
- 30:05ministry, all the the gifts of the ministry of spiritual gifts.
- 30:09And then it says in verse 14, it says when that when those
- 30:15spiritual gifts are being exercised and people, the body
- 30:18of Christ is functioning the way it should be according to the
- 30:21Scriptures. It says in verse 14 that we
- 30:24henceforth be no more children tossed to and fro there you.
- 30:28Go tired. About with every wind of
- 30:29doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby
- 30:33they lay in wait to deceive. But instead it says in the very
- 30:38next verse 15 but speaking the truth in love, and may grow up
- 30:44into him in all things. And what is the growing up into?
- 30:48It says which is the head, even Christ, and so that is I think
- 30:54is what was happening here is what?
- 30:55It appears like. And he's really going to lay
- 30:57that out in the next verse. But.
- 30:59Perfect versus good. That's good.
- 31:02Yeah, Dad. Yeah, I, I feel like if I've
- 31:06been to so many of these testimony nights where young
- 31:08people are getting baptized and you hear them share their
- 31:11testimony, and if they did share what Andrew was suggesting, you
- 31:15know, I mean, I was blind, but now I see I was lost.
- 31:18But now I'm found. I, I, Jesus died for my sins.
- 31:21I actually celebrate. I think somebody actually
- 31:24understands because 9 out of 10, sometimes I've been to
- 31:28somewhere, they've really impressed me where 1 after the
- 31:30other seems to know the simplicity of the Gospel.
- 31:33But there's been times when I've heard 1015 testimonies and maybe
- 31:37two of them point to Christ a little bit.
- 31:40The rest of them are like, you know, I was raised in a
- 31:42Christian home. I became a bad person when I was
- 31:4413. I started doing evil things.
- 31:47Now I almost died once maybe or my friend died in an accident.
- 31:51I decided to change my life and turn over a new leaf.
- 31:53And I'm like, what did you get saved?
- 31:56Did you trust Jesus? Was there any gospel presented
- 31:59to you? Was there was there anything?
- 32:01And it doesn't seem like there is, right?
- 32:03And so again, I don't kind of like what Aaron was saying, I
- 32:06don't think, or maybe I'm, I'm not fully understanding what you
- 32:09were saying, Aaron. But I don't think every person
- 32:12out there, every Christian out there needs to be like a, a
- 32:14serious Bible student to be considered mature.
- 32:19I think many of our wives who are maybe not like digging into
- 32:24the word, reading the the taking the Greek word and checking to
- 32:27see how it's translated and breaking down verses and
- 32:30studying deeply like in second Timothy 215 study to show
- 32:34yourself approved unto God a Workman that needeth not to be
- 32:37ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
- 32:39I don't think it means every Christian has to be that in in
- 32:43the book of Timothy. Also, Paul says to Timothy that
- 32:46they're supposed to bestow double honor upon the elders,
- 32:49especially those that labor in the word and then doctrine.
- 32:53So there can be a distinction. Some people are serious Bible
- 32:56students. They dig in deep.
- 32:58But like Aaron, like Andrew said already as well, you shouldn't
- 33:02be LED astray by every wind and wave of doctrine, as Melvin
- 33:05quoted as well, like there should be a stability and a
- 33:07grounding in your knowledge and understanding where you're
- 33:11trusting you. You have an anchor for your
- 33:13soul. You know it's Christ.
- 33:14You know he's better than Adam, better than Moses, better than
- 33:17the law, better than Aaron. And, you know, it should be that
- 33:20stuff should be established. You shouldn't need to be taught
- 33:23that again. And yet the author of the
- 33:25Hebrews is writing to these people as if it's like their
- 33:28first time ever seeing. Is it really Adam?
- 33:31He's better than Adam. He's better than Moses.
- 33:33Like, come on, guys. You should be be beyond this by
- 33:36now. Yeah.
- 33:40That that's that's good. I I like that Dan.
- 33:43I'll read the next one here. It says but strong beat belongs
- 33:46to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use
- 33:50have their senses exercise to discern both good and evil and
- 33:55what you were just talking about Dan I just it's almost like you
- 34:00know, if you if you know those those kind of foundational
- 34:05principles, I guess you will you will be able to quickly sense if
- 34:11something is off. You know, even if you don't
- 34:13exactly know what it is. You will often be able to
- 34:19determine whether something is right or wrong just by the by
- 34:23off the cuff, you know, and and that's you know, and then when
- 34:29you dig into it, you actually study and you figure out and
- 34:31then you can put your finger on what actually was wrong.
- 34:33But it having that sense to be served is so helpful as a
- 34:39Christian. Go ahead here.
- 34:43Well, I would say this that like just like Dan said, I think it's
- 34:47an excellent point that not everybody is going to be this
- 34:51great. Well, it's just like that's kind
- 34:52of what I was talking about in that he said are all teachers.
- 34:57In other words, not everybody is in that position to be a
- 35:01teacher. Now, granted, we did this make a
- 35:04distinction here that all of us should be able to answer for the
- 35:07reason of the hope that's in us would meet this and fear like by
- 35:10all means. But he didn't give every single
- 35:14Christian to be a teacher, like they said, like a stand up
- 35:17teacher. But I'll say this, we do it
- 35:21every time we sit down like I think we would all five of us
- 35:25would consider ourselves. I'll say apartment to teach,
- 35:29like he says, you know, like able apartment to teach.
- 35:32But you say something, Dan says something, Melvin says
- 35:37something, or Andrew says something, Leon says something.
- 35:39And I'm like, oh. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 35:42I see, you know, like that makes sense or I see that.
- 35:45So I'm saying I would say to you that that is something that we
- 35:49often do as a teacher to the rest of the people is you say,
- 35:56you know, when somebody says this, here's the root of what
- 35:59they're really saying, you know what I mean?
- 36:01Like you, you help warn them, you help guide them, you're
- 36:04directing them, whatever. So, but but that was just what I
- 36:08was thinking because of what you all said.
- 36:10But in this particular verse, verse 14, I'll come back to the
- 36:14to the point I tried to make earlier.
- 36:16He says strong meat belong to them that are a full age.
- 36:21All right, I'm going to link the word age back to verse 12 for
- 36:25when for the time you ought to be teachers.
- 36:28He's saying let's, let's say it's, I have no idea what the
- 36:32number is, but whenever their new birth was, they are so many
- 36:38years, so many months, so many whatever of age from that new
- 36:42birthright. They are at a certain age from
- 36:45the new birth and he's saying that strong meat belong to them.
- 36:50They're a full age now. They've had enough time that
- 36:54they ought to have aged to maturity, right?
- 36:58Whatever time that's been, he, he understands you all should be
- 37:03aged. Not that it is not that I would
- 37:05say every Christian is going to be at the same place at the mark
- 37:10of 10 years. He's just saying it's been long
- 37:13enough that whatever time that's been for each person, you should
- 37:16have matured by now. You should be a full age able to
- 37:19handle, not choke on the word on these words that I would like to
- 37:23give to you. And he makes A, to me a real
- 37:28particular point in the end of that verse.
- 37:31He says even those who by reason of use that is it's not a
- 37:38number, right? When he says this full age, he's
- 37:41not saying, as I just said, it's the 10 year mark, it's the five
- 37:45year mark, it's the six month mark.
- 37:46He's not saying that. He's saying what happens to
- 37:50mature person is they are exercising.
- 37:53They are actually, they're digging into this, they're
- 37:56looking into this, they're seeing things going on in the
- 37:59world or in their life and they're comparing that to the
- 38:02word of God. They are exercising their their
- 38:07the experience with the word of God.
- 38:09They're putting those things together.
- 38:11And the purpose, as he says in the last part of verse 14 is to
- 38:15be able to discern good and evil.
- 38:19Now he didn't say, and I'm not saying that he's but he's not
- 38:24saying this, but his point is not that they should be able to
- 38:27discern this person full age. They they already have had the
- 38:34they've already believed the gospel.
- 38:36He said they need to move on to be able to say, you know, that's
- 38:40bad for you, right? That that's that is not good or
- 38:44this is a good thing or this is a a godly thing and this is an
- 38:49ungodly thing, or this is something that will build you up
- 38:52and this is something that will defile, defile you, right.
- 38:55He's saying they should be able to discern good and evil.
- 38:58Like I do that all the time. Me and my wife do this all the
- 39:01time. We will hear something, see
- 39:04something, whatever, and we'll be like, what were they trying
- 39:07to press? You know what I mean?
- 39:09Like what, what were they trying to really press on you when they
- 39:14said that or when they done that?
- 39:16What was behind that? That's what he thought.
- 39:18He's You're discerning good and evil.
- 39:21What was the root behind that? Yep.
- 39:24Amen. That's good stuff, Andrew.
- 39:27Yeah, I don't know if I got much to add to that except for that
- 39:32he's finally telling us what is the point of having your set
- 39:37exercise? What is the point of singing for
- 39:41yourself and not just be drinking milk and someone else?
- 39:45So it's like someone's feeding it till you're like, you're not
- 39:47digging in yourself. You're not putting any work.
- 39:49You know, we could go into what it takes to even get a steak.
- 39:53You know, you have to. It takes quite a bit to even get
- 39:55one. And then to be able to prepare
- 39:58it and then to be able to eat it and actually benefit from it.
- 40:02It's a pretty big deal where you can just go and milk a cow and
- 40:06drink some milk. You know that's easy, but you
- 40:08know it doesn't take a lot of work.
- 40:11But when you get into the meat, you're able to be a teacher as
- 40:17far as someone coming to you with another doctrine and you
- 40:21say, no, that's evil. It's not good, it's evil.
- 40:26You're wrong here. You can do you can you can speak
- 40:29for the truth. And that's what he this whole
- 40:31thing is, I think. And you know, I used to read
- 40:36into it and it's like, well, what is me it?
- 40:39If the book of Hebrews is not meat, then what in the world is
- 40:43meat? If he said that I can't give you
- 40:45any meat, I still got to give you milk.
- 40:47And he goes through Hebrews 9:00 and 10:00.
- 40:49And if that's still milk, then I want to know what the meat is.
- 40:55But I haven't seen it yet, you know?
- 40:58But I think he's saying these people could not, they defend
- 41:06themselves against heresies, all teachers.
- 41:10And they were attempting to go back into the law.
- 41:12And he said, look, I got to get you guys saved again, basically,
- 41:16like I got to get back square 1. You can't even discern good and
- 41:20evil on your own. You've been just yeah, you're
- 41:23not digging it in. You're not learning for
- 41:24yourself. Yeah, Melvin.
- 41:28Yeah. I just wanted to point out that
- 41:31just kind of build on what Aaron was saying that it's not saying
- 41:35necessarily that it's a certain time frame or a certain age
- 41:39where you can have meat or he says it doesn't mean that you
- 41:44have to. Be older to.
- 41:46Eat meat he says to them that are full age and then he says
- 41:51even that word even is italic. So they added that word in but
- 41:55but it says that these that eat meat are those that who by the
- 42:00reason of use of their senses. So it's really not he he's not
- 42:05saying that it's a certain age necessarily, right.
- 42:09And so the and the the interesting thing is, is that he
- 42:15says by the reason, the use of their senses exercise.
- 42:18So when you exercise, you know whether your body, you know,
- 42:22you're exercising, you are using it right and and you're building
- 42:28it up. And he says their senses are
- 42:30exercise to do what? It's to discern both good and
- 42:35evil. And you know, we need that,
- 42:38right? I mean, we are just like Aaron
- 42:40was saying about him and his wife.
- 42:42We are bombarded, especially in this day and age with things
- 42:49that are good and evil. Like the simple fact is, is that
- 42:52they're either good or they're evil.
- 42:54There is only two kingdoms, right?
- 42:57There's no middle Rd. necessarily.
- 43:00So we need to be at the age where we can, or at the point, I
- 43:06should say, not at the age, but at the point where our senses
- 43:09are exercised that we can discern good and evil and in
- 43:13every day in our lives because we're being bombarded by that.
- 43:19For sure. There's the obvious cliche
- 43:25common statement that you are what you eat.
- 43:28And my wife and I try to take that pretty seriously and, you
- 43:31know, try to fuel our bodies with the best possible foods we
- 43:34can. And, you know, try to stay
- 43:36fairly consistent 80% of the time.
- 43:38And 20% of the time we might just enjoy whatever we have
- 43:41before us, But we purposely put in foods that are going to give
- 43:46our body the nourishment and health and vitality that we need
- 43:50to stay strong and healthy. Even then we're fighting an
- 43:53uphill battle and and a losing 1.
- 43:55We're our aging, we are decaying, we are growing old.
- 43:58But do you eat the meat of God? Do you consume God's word in
- 44:04that fashion where it sustains your soul, where it fills you
- 44:08up, where it it gives you life and and purpose?
- 44:11In John chapter 4, the disciples go off to get food at the city
- 44:16and they come back. Meanwhile, as the disciples
- 44:18prayed him saying, Master eat, but he said unto them, I have
- 44:21meat to eat that ye know not of I've been eating something here,
- 44:25you know, by sharing and ministering the word of God to
- 44:28this lady at the well he was he was getting his sustenance, he
- 44:33was filling up on the will of God.
- 44:36And so when he uses the word senses here it it's kind of
- 44:39helpful for me to break it down. You know, you got sight, smell,
- 44:43hearing, tasting, touching. All of those senses are physical
- 44:47appetites are our lusts and our drives and all the things that
- 44:51we see, feel here. Taste and touch need to be
- 44:55exercised so that we can know how much, when to stop, what the
- 45:01limits are, what we should and shouldn't do.
- 45:04And that all kind of boils down to this concept of not being
- 45:08able to handle strong meat yet. And so when he says it kind of
- 45:13makes this connection between physically eating meat to
- 45:18spiritually eating meat and it being the word of God, the deep
- 45:22truths of the word of God. And so until we are able to
- 45:26control and moderate our own senses, we might not grow very
- 45:31well in the spiritual sense. So there's there's this
- 45:33physical, spiritual connection that maybe we don't pay enough
- 45:37attention to sometimes if we're casual about our physical
- 45:42senses. The sight here tastes, smell,
- 45:44touch. Then perhaps we won't grow and
- 45:47get to the point where we're able to handle strong meat
- 45:51because we're still battling these little physical things
- 45:53we're still dealing with. I can't overcome this little
- 45:56addiction or this habit or whatever it might be.
- 45:59And so he he says, as you mature, you should be able to
- 46:02like he says. And I think it's in in
- 46:04Thessalonians that every one of us should know how to possess
- 46:08his own vessel in sanctification and honor.
- 46:11So we shouldn't be still dealing with all these little things.
- 46:15We should be able to move on and actually take in strong meat,
- 46:18have our senses exercise to discern good and evil.
- 46:23Yeah, yeah, it's really, really good.
- 46:26If you have an additional comments go ahead.
- 46:29But in the in the meantime I was I was thinking too like.
- 46:33So. We have the Bible, you know,
- 46:35it's, it's basically a road map for us.
- 46:37It it's an instruction booklet or whatever you want to call it,
- 46:40the Bible in general. And when I think about what it
- 46:44says to discern both good and evil.
- 46:46Like that's that's a good. Thing it is a really what what
- 46:53God he gave us this this this road map or this instruction
- 46:58booklet to keep us from hurting ourselves and others around us
- 47:01and to be able to serve him and and know what he wants of us and
- 47:07what what we should expect of him and all that good stuff
- 47:10right and so when he writes stuff like you know it's obvious
- 47:14that he wants the people the author of Hebrews here expects
- 47:18or wants the people to discern good and evil and when I think
- 47:23of that it's it's it's a it's actually a really faithful thing
- 47:29you have to be able to discern on the spot it's going to keep
- 47:32you from making that misstep like like one of the things even
- 47:37if you're just you're cruising on the web and you come to a
- 47:39website or whatever and it there's a you know that's
- 47:43probably not right or whatever it can keep you from harm.
- 47:45Actually the same thing physically too.
- 47:49I mean, if you, if you're sharp in business, if you have your
- 47:52senses exercised in the, in the world of business, you will much
- 47:56sooner not misstep and cause yourself a financial problem.
- 48:02You know, because you're, you're used to dealing it, you'll pick
- 48:04up a lot sooner. And to dad's point too, not to
- 48:09win this out, but he talked about the senses.
- 48:13And I think that a godly person actually has that sixth sense.
- 48:16We call it the spirit, the spirit of God in us that helps
- 48:19us a sense danger so much sooner and especially if it's exercised
- 48:26and and and youth it says by reason of use.
- 48:30You know, if we exercise ourselves in, that's like any
- 48:32other exercise. Yeah, if we want more examples
- 48:38of what it would look like to have your offenses exercise, you
- 48:41wouldn't fall for stupid stuff because you see through it.
- 48:46And for example, when someone comes along and says, well,
- 48:54let's start with this one. Someone that has their sins as
- 48:57exercise and already crew and some wisdom knows that if you do
- 49:01what God says, there's a blessing like you, you reap good
- 49:05things like you walk after the Spirit, you don't lie, you don't
- 49:09steal your you love your neighbors yourself.
- 49:13You have the love of God in you and you live that out your
- 49:17surroundings. Your life just gets better.
- 49:19If you can do that, you'll do well in this life.
- 49:25But where wisdom and discernment comes in to be able to concern
- 49:29good and evil is when someone then comes along and says, Hey,
- 49:33God wants you rich. Give me $1000 and God will give
- 49:38you 10 and that 10% of the sudden you a a a guy that can
- 49:46you discern good and evil will say, well, I have read in this
- 49:50book. I think it's second Timothy,
- 49:51where it says charge them that are rich for all the cautions
- 49:57and the how their snares and how that he's talked very bad about
- 50:03rich. So let me weigh that with your
- 50:05idea. God wanting me to be rich, not
- 50:09because I earned it, but because God's a lottery like, you know,
- 50:13you, you put it in money in the bucket and God like he has to
- 50:20change it out for you. And you also see that the only
- 50:24rich guy is the one getting my money.
- 50:26You know, you know, I never rich, you know, so that's a good
- 50:30example of how you can have your sense of exercise.
- 50:33You don't fall for all these, you know, in the second
- 50:37Corinthians, Paul says that about leaders.
- 50:40How that it's no marvel that these guys come and they
- 50:43basically rob the widows houses and they're money hungry and all
- 50:47these doctrines that they preach to keep you slave enslaved for
- 50:51them. He says it's no marvel, it's no
- 50:53surprise because even Satan can turn himself and his ministers
- 50:58turn themselves into the Angel of life.
- 51:00So God, God is saying that means God is saying if someone is
- 51:06doing these ungodly things in the name of Christ, he said
- 51:11ministers of Satan turn themselves into the angels of
- 51:15life. So I think that is a good way.
- 51:20So when someone comes along and says, hey, you give 10%, that's
- 51:24the law. You give 10% and you don't work
- 51:27on this day, you work, you don't work on that day, you don't eat
- 51:30this meat, you don't eat that. He's a minister of Satan.
- 51:34That's what God would say. We would say, oh, they're just a
- 51:36little mixed up. You know, they'll figure it out.
- 51:39You know, it's just they believe that Jesus died for them.
- 51:42Well, that's the part of them turning them into the Angel of
- 51:47light and righteousness of God. Like it's that sight and second
- 51:50Christian. So it's absolutely crucial that
- 51:56we have are able to discern these things and not get,
- 52:01because what they'll do is they'll come way around with a
- 52:04bunch of verses and they come in the back door.
- 52:08You know, Jesus said a thief does that.
- 52:11Like a thief goes around back, like he can't just go straight,
- 52:15but they have to come way around so that they can go all around
- 52:19the, the, the, the confidence and the hope that you have to
- 52:23kind of surround that and get around you and come in the back
- 52:26and try to get you the doubt, the hope that you have in
- 52:29Christ. And so we need that discernment.
- 52:32And a lot of people are, they're not, don't have that
- 52:35discernment, and they are falling away.
- 52:37And that's what the exhortation here is, that they're going back
- 52:40to where there is no salvation. And he's like BBC, yeah.
- 52:46That's right. You know, I, I was thinking
- 52:51about back to Dan or not Dan, but Cam's comment about growth
- 52:58is to be expected when verse by verse teaching is available.
- 53:02You know, a certain a certain weight of this, these people not
- 53:07being skillful in the word of righteousness might have laid on
- 53:11the on the teachers as well. You know this the the author of
- 53:15Hebrews was not their teacher. Right.
- 53:18First and foremost, you know, so I mean, you can take that and I
- 53:22appreciate that comment. I I agree that good verse by
- 53:27verse, you know, in depth teaching is it's what grew me.
- 53:31I can tell you that much more than the sugar coated, you know,
- 53:35fruit loops that you get when you listen to modern American
- 53:38teaching. And, and so, so some of this
- 53:42weight gets put on the ones that are teaching.
- 53:44Like are you, are you teaching in such a way that the people
- 53:47can, can get skillful in the word of righteousness too?
- 53:51You know, and even even on a 1:00 to 1:00, if you're not, if
- 53:54you're not behind the podium, what about the ones that you
- 53:56talk with? What about the ones that you do
- 53:57associate with? If you appoint them?
- 53:59Can you? Can you?
- 54:00You know. I do have to say the group that
- 54:05we have here is, I would say pretty much every one of them
- 54:08can defend themselves. They can contend for their faith
- 54:12pretty good. Like, they're not, they're not
- 54:15easy pushovers. And so it is a blessing.
- 54:19But it's yeah. We've we've been attending a
- 54:22church, like I've told you before, that's more Calvinist in
- 54:26their thinking. Although they blew up during
- 54:28COVID, they went from 100 people to 809 hundred people with two
- 54:32services. And it's just a big, big group.
- 54:34And they do learn more Calvinistic in their teaching,
- 54:37but there's a wide diversity of understanding in the
- 54:39congregation. But the minister there is pretty
- 54:42faithful at sticking to the text.
- 54:44He goes verse by verse and teaches what's actually written
- 54:47there. Every now and then I sense his
- 54:49flavor coming through, but mostly he does a pretty good job
- 54:53of sticking to it. And there are people there.
- 54:55I, I wouldn't have known them before, but you have a few
- 54:58conversations with people in the congregation and whether they
- 55:01got it before they came to the church or whether they got it
- 55:03from that teaching there. I don't know.
- 55:06But there's some stable, strong people who know the truth of the
- 55:10gospel and they're not easily duped.
- 55:12And they'll even pick up from the minister himself.
- 55:14Like I don't think that was sticking to the text.
- 55:17So I think that's dead on. Like if you understand, I
- 55:21remember before I heard the book of Ephesians taught to me the
- 55:28the whole book, the whole Bible was like a smorgasbord of
- 55:31inspirational verses. And it was good.
- 55:34I it was like milk to me. I remember my first Bible.
- 55:37I think it might have been a new King James Bible.
- 55:38It was a white 1. And I was highlighting in First
- 55:41Corinthians all the verses that just really stuck out to me that
- 55:44I really liked. And after reading through it a
- 55:46few 3-4 or five times, almost the whole page was all yellow
- 55:49with highlighter. But each one of those verses was
- 55:52just like a verse. Like, hey, look at this
- 55:54inspirational verse. Like we could put this on the
- 55:56fridge and be inspired by it, but it didn't fit together in
- 56:00the flow and there was no context to it.
- 56:03There was no grasping of the whole letter.
- 56:05And I finally saw that, hey, the look of Ephesians is one letter
- 56:09written to one group of people that needed to understand a
- 56:12certain thing. So basically you could read it
- 56:14like a sermon. It's got the gospel, it's got
- 56:17the theology there. Then there's admonition
- 56:19afterward. And so it kind of builds this
- 56:21idea into your head that hey there, there shouldn't be just
- 56:26application, application, application for 3456 weeks.
- 56:29And then, oh, here's a, here's a gospel presentation application
- 56:33application. No, every message should share
- 56:35the gospel, even if it's an application type of messages,
- 56:39you know there's knowing that their letters and understanding
- 56:42the flow and the the verse by verse type of stuff is just very
- 56:45powerful. It is.
- 56:47And I want to just say what you said about, you know, I have had
- 56:51that quite often here where people would say, hey, look,
- 56:54what did you mean by that? According to my understanding,
- 56:58this is what that means. And that's great.
- 57:01And that's, yeah, I want to do a better job of bringing that out.
- 57:05And I don't know how, but yeah, I want to do better for sure.
- 57:11All right, 8:00. Sorry, Andrew's camp, is that
- 57:15coming up this weekend? Yes, I was going to mention
- 57:18that. Is it registration closed
- 57:20already? No, not.
- 57:22Really so registered? I mean it, it would help us if
- 57:26you are would still make a quick decision if we would know.
- 57:30But I talked to my wife and she said we always get extras for
- 57:35people and then also there's people that cancel.
- 57:38So if you want to make a last minute decision, don't worry
- 57:42about it. Just come and enjoy the great
- 57:44fellowship. I think it's going to be one of
- 57:46our better camps. Yeah, how many people are
- 57:49registered and remember 3? I've got a number lately.
- 57:52I think it's around 3:50 to 360 somewhere in there.
- 57:55So it's going to be to be a crowd and we added some more
- 58:00stuff. So it's going to be.
- 58:01It's good, yeah. Going to be really good.
- 58:03So I would encourage anybody to check that out.
- 58:05He has a website, he has a, you can find Andrew and his wife on
- 58:09Facebook. There's links there to their
- 58:13website that they have really a blessing.
- 58:16We're going, we'll, we're planning on being there and
- 58:19probably all of us except maybe Dan, huh.
- 58:20It's going to be a, going to be a real, it's always a real
- 58:24blessing. There's 350 people there that
- 58:26want to learn more of what we were talking about tonight.
- 58:29So it's it's always good fellowship stuff.
- 58:31And also it seems like there's a lot of them that are skilled
- 58:34from the work. It's just like all these people
- 58:37that I actually understand. It's great.
- 58:40Like it's, it's like a, what would you call it?
- 58:47What is it that when you mix up a good drink like?
- 58:52I don't know what you're talking about, not sure.
- 58:54One at a bar, but they have a name for a really good cocktail
- 58:58like. And it's.
- 59:03Fruit. He was thinking of fruit
- 59:04cocktail. I was going to say there's no
- 59:09alcohol, but it's under one big huge tendon is in his lawn
- 59:15there. So it's it's a great time.
- 59:16So anyway, and also for those if you joined late, Dan shared his
- 59:22WhatsApp in the chat there and his YouTube channel.
- 59:26I would encourage you. He has some really, really good
- 59:28content. I'm joined.
- 59:29I listen to it every time he puts them out.
- 59:30So anyway, with that we will close for tonight.
- 59:35It is that time of the day. So I do want to conclude today's
- 59:39study to remember Hebrews 11/1 where it says faith is a
- 59:42substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
- 59:47And I pray that your faith would reveal biblical truths more
- 59:50clearly than your physical eyes can perceive the things around
- 59:52you. Look forward to meeting all of
- 59:55you in person next week. But for those of you, so that
- 59:59won't be there, we're planning on having a Friday night webinar
- 1:00:04just like we did tonight, next week.
- 1:00:06It's a little bit iffy, but check in.
- 1:00:08We'll do our best to host that. So we'll see you next Friday as
- 1:00:14we continue to look through the Word of God and through the
- 1:00:17substance of faith. God bless you guys.
- 1:00:20I appreciate your time like always and have a great week.
- 1:00:24And I too. See you guys.
