Two wildfire heroes, Ryan Beck and Olivier Lamy, have been identified among the three victims of a tragic plane crash near Fort Simpson on June 24th. Both were aboard a Bird Dog aircraft supporting firefighting operations in the Martin Hills when it went down—possibly breaking apart mid-air. Beck, a second-season air attack officer trainee with deep roots in wildland firefighting, and Lamy, a newcomer to the N.W.T. air attack program with years of Parks Canada experience, were deeply respected in the firefighting community.
