- 0:00Speaker 1: That was going on. This wrote me.
- 0:01Speaker 2: Oh, we talked a little bit about kids playing outside,
- 0:04Speaker 2: some of the things you did, the crazy things, the
- 0:06Speaker 2: games you played with other neighborhood kids when it was summertime. Also,
- 0:09Speaker 2: nice strangers. There's still a lot of nice people out there.
- 0:12Speaker 2: So what is some of the nicest things that a
- 0:14Speaker 2: stranger has done for you, or maybe you've done for
- 0:15Speaker 2: a stranger. Let's say, Okay, just I'm gonna tell you
- 0:22Speaker 2: guys a little etiquette. I think most of you guys
- 0:25Speaker 2: know it, but one of my friends does not, okay,
- 0:32Speaker 2: and so I had to explain it to him yesterday
- 0:35Speaker 2: and he got a little pissed off.
- 0:36Speaker 1: He's actually a neighbor and a friend. But so I'm
- 0:41Speaker 1: in the.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Garage yesterday about must have been about eleven, little after eleven.
- 0:45Speaker 2: I had just gotten off, got to the house, to
- 0:48Speaker 2: the shower, went out to the garage, and I was
- 0:51Speaker 2: cleaning up my golf clubs, you know. So I was
- 0:53Speaker 2: in the garage, cleaning my clubs, drinking a beer, not
- 0:57Speaker 2: bothering nobody, listening to some music, doing nothing right in
- 1:01Speaker 2: my own little world. Okay, one of my neighbors is
- 1:07Speaker 2: coming back from the mailbox, see he's be in the garage,
- 1:09Speaker 2: decides to stop, you know, actually came into the garage.
- 1:15Speaker 2: She's doing wrong, cleaning my clubs? Having a beer? Let
- 1:19Speaker 2: me get you one. Oh No, I can't. I can't
- 1:24Speaker 2: have a beer right now. You know it's too early.
- 1:26Speaker 2: I can't. I can't. It's eleven o'clock. I can't have
- 1:28Speaker 2: a beer right now. I'm like, what are you working?
- 1:30Speaker 1: What are you doing? Nothing? Guy's not doing nothing? Right?
- 1:34Speaker 2: How rude is it for you to go to somebody's house,
- 1:38Speaker 2: disturb what they're doing, and not have a beer.
- 1:43Speaker 1: I mean he could have just as.
- 1:44Speaker 2: Easily waved what I'm wrong, waved as he walked by
- 1:48Speaker 2: with his mail. No, he had to go out of
- 1:50Speaker 2: his way to come in my garage and not have
- 1:55Speaker 2: a beer. I'm gonna tell you right now, that is
- 2:01Speaker 2: about the rudest I even told him. I said, Bro,
- 2:03Speaker 2: that's kind of rude. You're not gonna have a beer
- 2:05Speaker 2: with me? Or when you walked into the garage. You
- 2:07Speaker 2: see how I'm sitting here with a cold one, just
- 2:10Speaker 2: wasting my you know, my morning. What you're not gonna
- 2:15Speaker 2: sit and have a beer with me? No, I can't
- 2:16Speaker 2: have a beer right now I got you know, it's
- 2:18Speaker 2: one beer. You know I didn't offer you a line
- 2:22Speaker 2: of coke. I offered you a beer in June in Bakersfield.
- 2:26Speaker 2: It's beautiful outside right now. I couldn't believe it. I
- 2:33Speaker 2: had to tell him to leave, come back, come back
- 2:36Speaker 2: when you're ready.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Just I can't with you right now. I mean, how
- 2:40Speaker 1: rude is that If you go to somebody's house.
- 2:45Speaker 2: For any reason, especially unannounced, and they offer you a beer,
- 2:50Speaker 2: you better drink a beer with them?
- 2:52Speaker 1: What is wrong with you? People? Already?
- 2:57Speaker 2: Fourteen five four seven to seven. To be fair, though,
- 3:00Speaker 2: he did come back later with a case of beer. So,
- 3:04Speaker 2: but you can't do that, rah, if you going by
- 3:09Speaker 2: somebody's house and you see that I was really what
- 3:13Speaker 2: I was doing was listening to music, drinking beer, acting
- 3:15Speaker 2: like I was doing something with my golf clubs. And
- 3:17Speaker 2: then all of a sudden, if you're gonna come over
- 3:20Speaker 2: and stop, you better have a beer. I don't care
- 3:23Speaker 2: what you're doing. I don't care if you stopping buying
- 3:25Speaker 2: your lunch break. I don't care if you stopping by
- 3:28Speaker 2: because you're in the neighborhood doing something else you need.
- 3:31Speaker 2: If you're gonna stop by and I offer you a beer,
- 3:35Speaker 2: You better drink a damn beer. Alrighty four two, five,
- 3:39Speaker 2: four or seven to seven, that's just rude. One of
- 3:43Speaker 2: my buddies who's also a neighbor. I was in the
- 3:46Speaker 2: garage having a beer. It's about eleven am. I was
- 3:49Speaker 2: having a beer, listening to some music, cleaning my golf clubs.
- 3:52Speaker 2: And he's coming back from the mailbox and he walks
- 3:55Speaker 2: into the garage.
- 3:55Speaker 1: What's up, Row, What you doing? I said, I'm just
- 3:57Speaker 1: sitting there having a beer. Let me grab you one.
- 3:59Speaker 2: Oh no, no, no, no no. He says, it's too early.
- 4:02Speaker 2: I told him to leave my house. You need to
- 4:04Speaker 2: just go. You might as well sleep with my wife
- 4:07Speaker 2: and kick my dog. If you go to turn down
- 4:10Speaker 2: a beer in a garage anytime, that just means we're
- 4:13Speaker 2: not friends anymore. Already four two five, four, seven to seven?
- 4:17Speaker 1: Worry hot? What's going on?
- 4:19Speaker 3: Hey Romeo?
- 4:20Speaker 4: Man?
- 4:21Speaker 5: Did I just hear that?
- 4:23Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 4:23Speaker 7: What a great full so ol beat.
- 4:26Speaker 4: Because I'm stilling nice today. But hear me out, hear
- 4:29Speaker 4: me out.
- 4:30Speaker 8: I'm from Deleno.
- 4:31Speaker 9: I used to deliver pizzas.
- 4:33Speaker 10: And I was working and you don't know how many
- 4:36Speaker 10: Mexican households.
- 4:37Speaker 4: I would pull up to Hey, man.
- 4:40Speaker 11: Have a corona, and I'm like, you know what, shoot.
- 4:43Speaker 4: A corona, let's go, let's go. Hey. I come from Hey.
- 4:49Speaker 12: The best beer is a free beer, whether if.
- 4:52Speaker 4: It's but like bud Eyes.
- 4:54Speaker 7: I mean, excuse me, water down, shoot it spending my
- 4:57Speaker 7: way and you gotta give me your cording this man,
- 5:00Speaker 7: I might just stop by.
- 5:07Speaker 1: My goodness.
- 5:08Speaker 2: I'm just saying. Look, if, especially if you're a friend
- 5:13Speaker 2: of mine and I offer you a beer and you
- 5:16Speaker 2: say no, you might as well tell me that. You
- 5:18Speaker 2: might as well just kick me in the stones and
- 5:20Speaker 2: tell me to go to hell. That just means you.
- 5:21Speaker 10: Don't like me.
- 5:23Speaker 1: That just that's what that means. That's what That's what
- 5:25Speaker 1: I heard.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Okay, don't just keep seping because that's what I heard.
- 5:29Speaker 1: You want a beer? No, not right now.
- 5:31Speaker 2: All I heard was I hate you and we are
- 5:34Speaker 2: not friends anymore. Okay, already four two, five, four, seven
- 5:38Speaker 2: to seven. You guys can tell me if I'm wrong,
- 5:40Speaker 2: if you think I'm wrong, but I know I'm not.
- 5:44Speaker 1: So yesterday I was I was about eleven am.
- 5:47Speaker 2: I was in the garage. I was cleaning my golf clubs.
- 5:50Speaker 2: I was having a beer and one of my neighbors
- 5:52Speaker 2: who I've.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Known for a long time.
- 5:54Speaker 2: Great guy, great family, We hang out together. Right, walks
- 5:58Speaker 2: by for the mailbox, walks in the garage.
- 6:01Speaker 1: With what you're doing?
- 6:01Speaker 2: He said, I'm having a beer, hanging out, listen to
- 6:03Speaker 2: some tunes. You know, let me grab you one. Oh no,
- 6:06Speaker 2: it's too early in the morning for a beer.
- 6:08Speaker 1: No it's not.
- 6:10Speaker 2: I had to ask him to leave. You guys think
- 6:12Speaker 2: I'm joking. I had to ask him. You might as
- 6:14Speaker 2: well just you might as well have I don't know
- 6:17Speaker 2: what that's about. The rudest thing you can do to
- 6:20Speaker 2: your your buddy is when he offers you a beer,
- 6:23Speaker 2: say no, especially in June in Bakersfield on a beautiful
- 6:30Speaker 2: day in the garage with music playing. Bro we're not
- 6:35Speaker 2: friends anymore, all right? He four two five, four, seven
- 6:38Speaker 2: to seven? Not what's going on?
- 6:40Speaker 13: What's up?
- 6:41Speaker 4: Seahawk again?
- 6:42Speaker 6: Lou Hey, room, you want to know what happened with
- 6:45Speaker 6: your friend while he said no to the beer?
- 6:47Speaker 4: Why he didn't like the beer you had?
- 6:49Speaker 6: Man, he had to go get the right one.
- 6:51Speaker 1: Oh no, he likes the beer I had. He was
- 6:54Speaker 1: just being a little baby.
- 6:56Speaker 6: Oh man, come on if you know for sure he
- 6:59Speaker 6: likes that beer. He was being a little weani.
- 7:00Speaker 1: It's been my neighbor for ten years.
- 7:02Speaker 3: I know what he likes.
- 7:03Speaker 2: My God, to be perfectly honest with you, unless it's Corona,
- 7:09Speaker 2: you should drink whatever beer they got, whatever beer you're offered.
- 7:13Speaker 6: Yeah, that's true, because I turned down any beer offered
- 7:17Speaker 6: that I don't like, and then I'll just go get
- 7:20Speaker 6: what I like.
- 7:21Speaker 4: You know what I mean.
- 7:21Speaker 2: No, it doesn't matter if you turn down a beer.
- 7:25Speaker 2: That's just telling me that we're not friends anymore and
- 7:27Speaker 2: you don't really like me.
- 7:28Speaker 1: That's all that. That's all I hear when you when
- 7:30Speaker 1: I when you turn down a beer for me, damn man.
- 7:34Speaker 6: All right, well that reminds me never to turn down
- 7:37Speaker 6: a beer from Rome, exactly.
- 7:38Speaker 2: I mean, especially we're friends and we've known each other
- 7:41Speaker 2: all these years. Yeah, I don't care, that's what that means.
- 7:47Speaker 2: The worst thing you can do to your buddy who
- 7:50Speaker 2: offers you a beer in a garage.
- 7:54Speaker 1: Is tell him, no, we are not friends no more. Sorry,
- 7:57Speaker 1: that just ended our friendship.
- 7:59Speaker 2: You might as well, you know, Yeah, yeah, all right,
- 8:06Speaker 2: they pour two five four seven seven. So to my neighbors,
- 8:11Speaker 2: he was coming from the mailbox yesterday and I was
- 8:14Speaker 2: sitting in my garage about eleven am, having a beer,
- 8:16Speaker 2: cleaning up my golf clubs, you know, just listening to
- 8:18Speaker 2: some music, just you know, having some garage beers after work.
- 8:23Speaker 1: In this fool comes into my garage, ask me what
- 8:28Speaker 1: I'm doing. I'm having a beer. Let me grab you one.
- 8:30Speaker 2: Oh no, it's too early in the morning. I'm like, oo,
- 8:34Speaker 2: we ain't friends no more. That's just rude. That's about
- 8:37Speaker 2: the rudest thing you could do. By the way, Big
- 8:40Speaker 2: Boy said, he ain't never turning down the beer. I
- 8:41Speaker 2: ain't never known Big Boy to turn down a beer. Yo.
- 8:44Speaker 13: Room.
- 8:44Speaker 1: That must have been a white neighbor. Uh No, he's
- 8:46Speaker 1: a Mexican dude. He's a Mexican dude.
- 8:49Speaker 2: Already four two, five, four or seven seventh, Good morning, Room.
- 8:52Speaker 2: I would have had two beers with you. Apparently he
- 8:54Speaker 2: was just being nosy.
- 8:55Speaker 1: Yeah, I get that. But if you're gonna be nosy,
- 8:59Speaker 1: have a beer.
- 9:00Speaker 2: That's about the rudest thing you can do to your friend,
- 9:03Speaker 2: is turned down a beer, other than sleeping with his wife,
- 9:07Speaker 2: who we're nofice going on?
- 9:09Speaker 12: Check it out.
- 9:09Speaker 8: Yeah, they my day.
- 9:11Speaker 14: I ain't been drinking since about the twelve, so my
- 9:13Speaker 14: partners known me. So I turned down a beer just
- 9:16Speaker 14: the other day, even with my nephews and him and
- 9:18Speaker 14: I turned down certain drink and they actually respect it,
- 9:21Speaker 14: even though everybody in my truck will do it because
- 9:23Speaker 14: they know I don't need that because I've been making
- 9:25Speaker 14: problems lady like got him with the zail like DUIs
- 9:28Speaker 14: and all that. You feel me, so you gotta turn
- 9:31Speaker 14: it down?
- 9:32Speaker 4: No, no, no, why I'm not.
- 9:35Speaker 2: Saying you didn't have to turn it. What I'm saying
- 9:38Speaker 2: is you shouldn't be showing up. Then, that's what I'm saying.
- 9:41Speaker 1: If you like this, will you could have just waved
- 9:44Speaker 1: and said hi.
- 9:46Speaker 2: You didn't need to come in my garage and say hi,
- 9:49Speaker 2: because now you now you're in the middle of it.
- 9:51Speaker 1: Now you're in the mix, okay.
- 9:54Speaker 14: Is if he used to drink and he normally drink,
- 9:56Speaker 14: he pulled up, So why you're gonna stop just all
- 9:58Speaker 14: of a sudden because he don't drin you feel cool
- 10:01Speaker 14: with you?
- 10:01Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 10:02Speaker 5: No me respectfully turn it down, explain it.
- 10:05Speaker 1: Either no no, no, you're wrong, then you don't need
- 10:10Speaker 1: to go. If we all drinking you don't need to.
- 10:11Speaker 12: Show up, all right, I guess, so that's crazy.
- 10:16Speaker 1: In actually, what I.
- 10:19Speaker 2: Actually, what I'm saying is if you decide to see
- 10:21Speaker 2: a rub because you can't handle it, and you're gonna
- 10:23Speaker 2: be around a bunch of people, I get it. But
- 10:25Speaker 2: if you're gonna come in my garage and I offer
- 10:27Speaker 2: you a beer and you better take it or we
- 10:30Speaker 2: ain't friends, That's what I'm saying.
- 10:32Speaker 1: This is a very unique situation.
- 10:34Speaker 2: If I roll through you, if I roll through your
- 10:35Speaker 2: house and you offer me something and I say no,
- 10:37Speaker 2: like a beer or something like that.
- 10:39Speaker 1: I mean I wasn't offering them, you know, tequila and coke.
- 10:42Speaker 1: I just have a beer with me. I know we
- 10:44Speaker 1: drinks because we drink together.
- 10:46Speaker 14: I got to pull up with a nasty ass.
- 10:48Speaker 8: But why is the zero zero?
- 10:52Speaker 12: Then I'm buying.
- 10:56Speaker 2: If you drink zero, then you're really not invited, all right?
- 11:03Speaker 2: Epoort two five, four or seven seven. I'm just saying
- 11:06Speaker 2: we ain't friends no more.
- 11:07Speaker 13: All right.
- 11:07Speaker 2: I'm just gonna tell you, as a friend, if you
- 11:10Speaker 2: have good friends and they offer you a beer, you
- 11:13Speaker 2: better drink it.
- 11:14Speaker 1: You better take it.
- 11:15Speaker 2: Yesterday, my one of my neighbors, he was getting his
- 11:18Speaker 2: mail right, And I'm sitting in the garage with says
- 11:20Speaker 2: some music, drinking a beer two about eleven am, you know,
- 11:23Speaker 2: cleaning my golf clubs, and this fool comes by walks
- 11:26Speaker 2: in the garage. What you doing once you once you
- 11:29Speaker 2: crossed that threshold into my garage, you're committed.
- 11:33Speaker 1: Brouh, you're in. You're part of the fiasco at eleven am.
- 11:38Speaker 2: Let me grab you a beer. Oh no, it's too early,
- 11:40Speaker 2: you knowlah blah blah blah blah. Then get your ass
- 11:43Speaker 2: out keep on walking, because that's about the rudest thing
- 11:48Speaker 2: you can do is turn down a beer when you
- 11:49Speaker 2: came in to what is beer drinking arenas on a
- 11:56Speaker 2: beautiful day in Bakersfield? All right, e four two five
- 11:59Speaker 2: four seven, Good morning?
- 12:00Speaker 1: How what's going on?
- 12:01Speaker 7: You're not wrong at all, Romeo. People feel that they
- 12:05Speaker 7: don't understand it. It's the same thing as if somebody
- 12:09Speaker 7: calls me and says, what are you up to it?
- 12:10Speaker 7: I'm like, well, we're here at the bar having a
- 12:12Speaker 7: couple of beers. I'm gonna stop buy. They stopped buy,
- 12:14Speaker 7: and you're like you want a beer and they're like, no,
- 12:16Speaker 7: what the hell you come by.
- 12:17Speaker 1: The way, exact right.
- 12:21Speaker 6: It's the same thing when people say what are you doing?
- 12:23Speaker 7: I'm gonna thinking about going getting a bike or gooting
- 12:25Speaker 7: some wings. Do you show up, You're like, oh, just
- 12:27Speaker 7: have something to drink.
- 12:28Speaker 9: I don't want to have no wings?
- 12:29Speaker 11: And why to help you come.
- 12:33Speaker 4: Home?
- 12:33Speaker 1: You should know your role. You have a responsibility as a.
- 12:38Speaker 7: Why you're not hello dudes, that you're at home?
- 12:41Speaker 13: You don't want to dream?
- 12:42Speaker 12: Right, that's it.
- 12:45Speaker 1: That's exactly what you're saying. Bro, all right, exactly what
- 12:47Speaker 1: you're saying. All right, man, thanks for calling a brother.
- 12:50Speaker 1: All right, letter, That's what I'm saying.
- 12:52Speaker 2: I mean, know your role as a friend, Okay, Like
- 12:56Speaker 2: I have a friend that ninety nine zero point nine
- 13:00Speaker 2: percent of the time if he's calling, I know what
- 13:04Speaker 2: we get involved in, okay, And there's always gonna be
- 13:09Speaker 2: a beer involved and I gotta be ready for that,
- 13:11Speaker 2: or don't answer the phone, or don't go buy his house,
- 13:15Speaker 2: you know.
- 13:16Speaker 1: Alrighty four two five to four seven seven yo. Romeo.
- 13:21Speaker 2: Me and my wife are retired and sometimes we'll just
- 13:25Speaker 2: sit out on the front porch.
- 13:26Speaker 1: She'll have a margarita, I'll have a beer.
- 13:29Speaker 2: Our neighbors know not to come to the porch, or
- 13:32Speaker 2: they're gonna be sitting there with us drinking, so you know,
- 13:36Speaker 2: when they're ready to do they'll come and say hi
- 13:38Speaker 2: on the porch, or they don't want to drink, they'll
- 13:41Speaker 2: just walk by and wave and say hi from the sidewalk.
- 13:45Speaker 2: That's what I'm talking about. My boy could have just
- 13:49Speaker 2: kept rolling, he could have threw a hey roam, kept
- 13:52Speaker 2: on walking, but he came into the garage and then
- 13:56Speaker 2: turned down a beer. Now you're just being root to
- 14:00Speaker 2: my face. This was kind of funny. Yesterday I was
- 14:04Speaker 2: I was in the kitchen and I was doing some
- 14:05Speaker 2: stuff and I heard some noise out in the front yard.
- 14:09Speaker 1: So I walk over to the window.
- 14:10Speaker 2: Now I have some trees in my front yard, and
- 14:12Speaker 2: I look out there and there's a couple of kids
- 14:16Speaker 2: hiding behind the trees in my front yard.
- 14:18Speaker 1: And I couldn't figure. I'm like, what are these damn
- 14:20Speaker 1: kids doing?
- 14:21Speaker 2: And then all of a sudden, here comes some kid
- 14:23Speaker 2: on a bike hitting them with water boons.
- 14:26Speaker 1: Drive by, water balloon, drive by.
- 14:27Speaker 2: I was looking at going and then these two kids
- 14:30Speaker 2: they jump out and they start throwing water balloons at
- 14:33Speaker 2: these kids on bikes. And I thought, man, these kids
- 14:35Speaker 2: are having a water balloon fight. Now, it's been a
- 14:38Speaker 2: long time since I've seen one of those. It's been
- 14:40Speaker 2: a long time since I've been involved in one of those.
- 14:43Speaker 2: But I thought it was pretty impressive that these kids
- 14:47Speaker 2: were out doing stuff together. Now, everybody plays video games
- 14:50Speaker 2: and you're on your iPads and you're on TVs. And
- 14:53Speaker 2: it was a hundred I think it was one hundred
- 14:54Speaker 2: degrees yesterday, so kids are at their pools or you know,
- 14:58Speaker 2: staying inside with the AC. But I thought, man, these
- 15:01Speaker 2: kids are out there. They were just having a great time.
- 15:04Speaker 2: And they must have been running around the whole neighborhood
- 15:08Speaker 2: hiding everywhere because they were on bikes and they were
- 15:10Speaker 2: on scooters and they were running around. But they were
- 15:13Speaker 2: having a big old water balloon fight in the neighborhood.
- 15:16Speaker 2: And I thought, wow, that's pretty cool. Because do you remember,
- 15:20Speaker 2: I mean, long before there were even when you had AC,
- 15:25Speaker 2: long before moms and dads used to kick you out
- 15:27Speaker 2: the house. They would tell you to go leave because
- 15:29Speaker 2: they didn't want you eating all their food. They didn't
- 15:30Speaker 2: want you running up the electricity or the AC or
- 15:33Speaker 2: whatever it may be. Or you just had nothing to
- 15:37Speaker 2: do when you were at a home by yourself during summer,
- 15:41Speaker 2: so you had to figure out what to do. So
- 15:42Speaker 2: what you would do is you would go outside with
- 15:44Speaker 2: the other kids in your neighborhood and you would play games.
- 15:47Speaker 2: You would just you'd figure something out. I mean, to
- 15:50Speaker 2: be honest with you, kids are fairly resilient. I mean,
- 15:54Speaker 2: they will figure out what to do with each other
- 15:57Speaker 2: when they're bored.
- 15:59Speaker 1: They just will.
- 16:00Speaker 2: Even if you took away all the iPads today in
- 16:03Speaker 2: a neighborhood, take away all the iPads, all the iPhones,
- 16:06Speaker 2: most I would I would venture to bet that these kids,
- 16:10Speaker 2: they will be upset for about five minutes until they
- 16:13Speaker 2: all realize that they need to figure out what to do,
- 16:16Speaker 2: and they'll figure out something to do, good or bad.
- 16:20Speaker 1: Hey, these kids rapping the water bill and fight. It
- 16:21Speaker 1: was great. You remember you remember back in your hood.
- 16:24Speaker 2: You remember the hood games you used to play eight
- 16:27Speaker 2: four two five four or seven to seven.
- 16:28Speaker 1: You'd always come up with something, all.
- 16:30Speaker 2: Right, So we're talking about stupid tricks you did as
- 16:32Speaker 2: a kid, or neighborhood games. You got together with your
- 16:35Speaker 2: buddies and you would always, you know, you would do
- 16:38Speaker 2: something dumb. You would either or you'd play some sort
- 16:41Speaker 2: of neighborhood game to entertain yourself. Eight four two five
- 16:43Speaker 2: four seven to seven, good morning.
- 16:45Speaker 1: Not what's going on?
- 16:46Speaker 4: And what I mean?
- 16:48Speaker 11: So I remember back in the day, me and my
- 16:51Speaker 11: idtle cousins and all the little homies.
- 16:53Speaker 5: On the block.
- 16:54Speaker 7: We would we're on to ww F when wrestling was real.
- 16:57Speaker 1: Yeah, it was real, okay, And.
- 17:02Speaker 15: We used to play poop matches, so whenever a dog
- 17:05Speaker 15: was poop in the grass, first one it lost.
- 17:10Speaker 16: Yeah.
- 17:10Speaker 15: That was horrible, man, it was horrible.
- 17:13Speaker 17: It was.
- 17:14Speaker 7: It was.
- 17:15Speaker 5: Yeah, there was knockouts outing.
- 17:17Speaker 17: Just so whoever whoever that it was out, that's best growth.
- 17:22Speaker 1: That's that's the alright, man, thanks for calling.
- 17:26Speaker 2: Like I said, man, kids will do anything to entertain themselves.
- 17:30Speaker 1: When you know, it was just you had to go outside.
- 17:33Speaker 2: You had to find other kids to play within your neighborhood,
- 17:37Speaker 2: and kids would just come up with the stupidest games
- 17:40Speaker 2: and do the dumbest tricks. Just you know, how do
- 17:45Speaker 2: you think, you know, how do you think a lot
- 17:49Speaker 2: of these kids get hurt? A lot of these scars
- 17:51Speaker 2: came from entertainment. That's what we had to do to
- 17:54Speaker 2: entertain ourselves. Already four two, five, four or seven to seven?
- 17:57Speaker 1: What kind of tricks? What kind of neighborhood games did
- 17:59Speaker 1: you got? Ice play?
- 18:01Speaker 2: And when I say neighborhood games, like what the guy
- 18:04Speaker 2: just said, they played w w F with Pooh. I
- 18:08Speaker 2: never heard of that before. But that was a neighborhood game.
- 18:11Speaker 2: You're talking about games, neighborhood games you played when you
- 18:14Speaker 2: were a kid?
- 18:14Speaker 1: What help? What's up?
- 18:16Speaker 17: WHOA?
- 18:17Speaker 7: What?
- 18:17Speaker 6: I brother?
- 18:19Speaker 12: Neighborhood game we had we called it was football. What
- 18:23Speaker 12: we called it sideline bash. As long as you ran
- 18:27Speaker 12: down the middle of a two hand touch, you ran
- 18:30Speaker 12: to the to the sidewalk or whatever, you got hit,
- 18:33Speaker 12: whatever you did whatever.
- 18:42Speaker 1: WHOA sure, d.
- 18:50Speaker 11: Man?
- 18:51Speaker 1: Thanks for calling Lordy? That was going on?
- 18:56Speaker 11: Hey, romany talking about the childhood game?
- 18:58Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 18:58Speaker 1: Whatever, man.
- 19:00Speaker 11: So there used to be like ten of us.
- 19:02Speaker 4: We all lived like two blocks from each other.
- 19:04Speaker 11: We had the old you know, the power wheels, little
- 19:07Speaker 11: four four wheel cars or whatever. Okay, dude, there'd be
- 19:11Speaker 11: like six of us. We're all probably six or seven
- 19:14Speaker 11: years old. You team up with your friend, he'd push
- 19:17Speaker 11: you around. We had a little derby going on, sah it.
- 19:21Speaker 15: We'd smash into each other.
- 19:22Speaker 11: Bro We did it until our cars broke.
- 19:26Speaker 8: Man.
- 19:26Speaker 11: We had these little beat up cars and have no
- 19:28Speaker 11: batteries in them, and we just all got together.
- 19:32Speaker 4: We just smashed into each other.
- 19:33Speaker 11: You know, somebody pushed to you and you took turns.
- 19:36Speaker 17: Just like that.
- 19:37Speaker 1: Oh man, that's great, man, that's.
- 19:39Speaker 13: Great, dude. I never see those kids do that again
- 19:42Speaker 13: these days.
- 19:42Speaker 1: Yeah, you vote all all right, man later.
- 19:46Speaker 2: I mean, let's be honest when we talk about this stuff. Though,
- 19:49Speaker 2: kids today will never do that stuff because they don't
- 19:51Speaker 2: have to. I mean, back in the day before the internet,
- 19:56Speaker 2: before the app laptop, our iPads and computer and all
- 20:00Speaker 2: this stuff iPhones, before all of that, you.
- 20:03Speaker 1: Had to entertain yourself.
- 20:05Speaker 2: So you went and found a bunch of other kids
- 20:07Speaker 2: in your neighborhood that had nothing else to do.
- 20:09Speaker 1: And that's how you became friends. He became you think
- 20:13Speaker 1: about it.
- 20:14Speaker 2: All the friends you have, for the most part now
- 20:17Speaker 2: are because you were looking for other people, other kids
- 20:20Speaker 2: that had nothing else to do, just like you, right
- 20:23Speaker 2: you would. You might not be friends with them today
- 20:26Speaker 2: because you know, you didn't have you. That's all we
- 20:29Speaker 2: were doing is kids running around looking for other kids
- 20:31Speaker 2: that had nothing else to do. So we could do
- 20:34Speaker 2: nothing together or make up silly games to play already
- 20:37Speaker 2: four two, five four or seven to seven?
- 20:40Speaker 13: Romeo, how are you this morning, great brother?
- 20:42Speaker 4: What's up well? Growing up?
- 20:45Speaker 12: Man?
- 20:45Speaker 4: A lot of childhood games that I grew up playing
- 20:48Speaker 4: with a few friends that I had until this.
- 20:51Speaker 13: Day are still part of my life. One of them,
- 20:54Speaker 13: we didn't have a lot of money. So one of them,
- 20:55Speaker 13: what we used to do is we used to roll
- 20:57Speaker 13: up a piece of paper, you know, you in order
- 20:59Speaker 13: goone me and turn it into a dart. And what
- 21:02Speaker 13: we would do is you grab you grab dirt, and
- 21:05Speaker 13: you'd throw it inside and make it heavy.
- 21:07Speaker 4: Right, and then you grab a paper tick that you
- 21:10Speaker 4: put at.
- 21:10Speaker 13: The very tip right before you put the dirt so
- 21:13Speaker 13: that it doesn't fall out, and you grab a rubber band,
- 21:15Speaker 13: the sickest, hardest rubber band you can find, and you
- 21:19Speaker 13: launch it in the air, and everybody stands in the circle,
- 21:23Speaker 13: head down, and.
- 21:24Speaker 4: See whoever it hits. Mind you, it's people with dirt.
- 21:28Speaker 13: It's not really going to hurt. It hit the back
- 21:30Speaker 13: of your head until already uh decided to look up
- 21:33Speaker 13: and we're like we're down. You know. It's one of
- 21:36Speaker 13: those things if you're growing up in these Baker's fields,
- 21:38Speaker 13: and you hear the words you're not down, oh my gosh,
- 21:41Speaker 13: or double dog dare you you're gonna have to do it?
- 21:44Speaker 4: So we all decide to look up. Well, it's already
- 21:47Speaker 4: square in the eye O God.
- 21:49Speaker 13: That to this day we call them bullseye already, or
- 21:52Speaker 13: sometimes we'll call them pty.
- 21:56Speaker 6: Oh.
- 21:56Speaker 1: That's hilarious to do all sorts of stuff.
- 22:00Speaker 13: Man, if I can tell you real. Last one, we
- 22:02Speaker 13: used to skate downhill. There's a street called Camino Brimaveda,
- 22:06Speaker 13: and these bakers films. Uh, they dared me to ski
- 22:09Speaker 13: a rollerblade downhill. I never rollerblade in my life. I
- 22:12Speaker 13: didn't know how to stop. So as I'm going down,
- 22:16Speaker 13: I'm about to reach College, which is a very busy street,
- 22:20Speaker 13: I'm thinking the best thing for me to do, since
- 22:23Speaker 13: I don't know how to stop on rollerblades, is to
- 22:25Speaker 13: throw myself on one.
- 22:26Speaker 4: Of the lawns.
- 22:28Speaker 6: Well.
- 22:28Speaker 4: Newton's law of physics is that a body emotion tends
- 22:32Speaker 4: to say emotion.
- 22:33Speaker 13: Unless I could have found a greater force equals greater force.
- 22:35Speaker 15: We'll guess what.
- 22:37Speaker 4: When I threw myself midair into the grass, I completely
- 22:42Speaker 4: kept going mid air and missed the entiregrass area, landed
- 22:46Speaker 4: on the driveway, and the pavement rolled a few times.
- 22:50Speaker 13: Old man I was washing his lawn there just looked
- 22:54Speaker 13: at me and he goes, man, you completely missed that high.
- 22:57Speaker 1: Area we're talking about.
- 23:00Speaker 2: As a kid, man before all this electronics, before video games,
- 23:05Speaker 2: before anything that kept you in a house, everything you
- 23:09Speaker 2: had to do was outside the house, which means you
- 23:11Speaker 2: had to go out and find other kids like you
- 23:14Speaker 2: who had nothing to do. And then that's how you
- 23:16Speaker 2: made your friends in the neighborhood. And then after a
- 23:19Speaker 2: while you'd start making up dumb neighborhood games, or you'd
- 23:23Speaker 2: make up.
- 23:23Speaker 1: Stupid tricks to do.
- 23:24Speaker 2: You know, everybody, lay down, Let's see how many how
- 23:28Speaker 2: many kids we can jump over on our bikes?
- 23:30Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, have you done that already?
- 23:32Speaker 10: Four?
- 23:32Speaker 1: Two, five, four, seven to seven? Hes going on? Put
- 23:39Speaker 1: up djo Hey.
- 23:40Speaker 7: When I was little used to play this game, hine
- 23:45Speaker 7: go gig heard No, what is it?
- 23:49Speaker 3: A bunch of us girls and boys get together and
- 23:51Speaker 3: play and we'd be crushing on each other, say we go.
- 23:55Speaker 7: High and when they.
- 23:59Speaker 1: Get it, I fat, Oh my god, what is wrong with.
- 24:08Speaker 15: That's great?
- 24:11Speaker 1: Thanks? Alright, what suld play that game as adults?
- 24:18Speaker 2: All right, hey, room, We used to play a game
- 24:20Speaker 2: called the Black Widow where we where we would turn
- 24:24Speaker 2: all the lights off in the room and just start
- 24:26Speaker 2: fighting everyone in the dark, free for all rumbles in
- 24:30Speaker 2: the dark.
- 24:30Speaker 1: Nice nice kids are so stupid? Oh my god?
- 24:36Speaker 2: How did we survive? Eight four two, five four seven
- 24:39Speaker 2: to seven? Kind of dumb neighborhood games? Did you play
- 24:41Speaker 2: with your friends in the neighborhood? A? Stupid tricks you
- 24:43Speaker 2: would do?
- 24:43Speaker 1: Good morning? How what's going on?
- 24:44Speaker 17: Hey?
- 24:45Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 24:46Speaker 3: About doorknob?
- 24:47Speaker 11: Have you ever heard of doorknobs?
- 24:49Speaker 7: Dor?
- 24:49Speaker 4: No?
- 24:51Speaker 7: So well you're right there with your with your friends
- 24:53Speaker 7: or family members and you part they rush it would
- 24:57Speaker 7: start beating you up until you set the doorknobs. We
- 24:59Speaker 7: did that all the time.
- 25:08Speaker 4: Yeah, that's what we do, man, So let's someone come
- 25:11Speaker 4: on rush them.
- 25:13Speaker 1: That can be the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
- 25:17Speaker 7: Hell, all right.
- 25:19Speaker 1: Man, thanks for calling. All right, door knob, let's play
- 25:23Speaker 1: door knob? All right, Gordon, what's going on?
- 25:28Speaker 11: Hey?
- 25:28Speaker 8: What's up?
- 25:29Speaker 15: Romeohy are you talking about the games we used to play?
- 25:32Speaker 5: Dumbest kids?
- 25:33Speaker 15: Yeah, me and my home plays had a game we
- 25:35Speaker 15: used to play. It's called B B bridges, So that
- 25:39Speaker 15: means all of us to be together. And we're trying
- 25:42Speaker 15: to use words without using the letter B. And then
- 25:45Speaker 15: if you use the word beat, everybody just gets a
- 25:47Speaker 15: punch on you until you say B B bridges.
- 25:55Speaker 1: That might be the second and stupidest thing I've heard.
- 25:58Speaker 15: If you said anything being and you forgot that we
- 26:02Speaker 15: were playing baby, but everybody just wrap.
- 26:06Speaker 2: Body all right, man, you guys are crazy. Man, thanks
- 26:13Speaker 2: for college. And like slug bug, we used to play
- 26:16Speaker 2: slug bug in the car, right. I don't think they
- 26:19Speaker 2: play slug bug no more?
- 26:21Speaker 9: Hey room, you remember the parachute little army man and
- 26:24Speaker 9: he wrapped up and throw.
- 26:26Speaker 18: Them in the err.
- 26:26Speaker 9: And so we had a great idea to get our
- 26:30Speaker 9: killing get up on top of the house. And then
- 26:36Speaker 9: we wonder why our legs are all for it.
- 26:43Speaker 3: That's all herd.
- 26:45Speaker 15: We went one, two, three, Boom, damn.
- 26:53Speaker 12: Un curry.
- 26:54Speaker 1: Wow, that's funny.
- 26:56Speaker 9: Joe, try to jump the canal with my sister's buying.
- 27:00Speaker 9: That didn't work out?
- 27:01Speaker 12: Well?
- 27:01Speaker 4: What canal.
- 27:03Speaker 9: Over here by Panama and White Lane, there's a dirt canal,
- 27:08Speaker 9: you know, and these kids had you know, back then,
- 27:10Speaker 9: we would cut off the sisty bar and make it uh.
- 27:13Speaker 9: And we had the knobby. There was a BMX bike,
- 27:16Speaker 9: so you cut that off and did uh. These dudes
- 27:19Speaker 9: were jumping it right, and they talk me into it.
- 27:21Speaker 9: And I had my sister's bike. You know, dude, I
- 27:24Speaker 9: landed the front. You know, they had the bars, would
- 27:27Speaker 9: flip for it.
- 27:28Speaker 1: Oh dude, it was bad.
- 27:31Speaker 9: I got the wind knocked out.
- 27:34Speaker 2: I got to tell you, this show nothing stupider than
- 27:37Speaker 2: when we lived on the reservation.
- 27:39Speaker 1: We lived my house was on the bottom of a
- 27:42Speaker 1: hill and.
- 27:44Speaker 2: It made a one at my house, it made a
- 27:46Speaker 2: one eighty degree turn to go back down the hill.
- 27:49Speaker 1: So you'd come you come down the hill, which was
- 27:51Speaker 1: a steep, steamed incline right.
- 27:53Speaker 2: Maybe about a quarter of a mile down, and it
- 27:57Speaker 2: would you take that one and eighty degree turn to
- 28:00Speaker 2: go and we would fund. We would come down that
- 28:02Speaker 2: on our big wheels, on our green machines, on our skateboards,
- 28:06Speaker 2: on our bikes, with no thought that there would be
- 28:09Speaker 2: a car coming just to take us out.
- 28:10Speaker 1: O my god, if you can come up, But if
- 28:18Speaker 1: you could come up with some stupider than that, or
- 28:20Speaker 1: more dangerous than that. I'd love to hear it all
- 28:26Speaker 1: right later, man. And what made it worse? You got it?
- 28:31Speaker 2: It was just a two lane road and when you'd
- 28:34Speaker 2: come around that curve, when you'd come around that you
- 28:36Speaker 2: know that you it was a if you fell off
- 28:41Speaker 2: the road, it was a probably about a twenty foot drop,
- 28:47Speaker 2: that's how high the road was before you drop down
- 28:50Speaker 2: onto the ground. Uh, in front of my well side
- 28:53Speaker 2: of my house. So yeah, it would be like for
- 28:56Speaker 2: those of you that don't know, it would be like
- 28:58Speaker 2: coming down I'm trying to think what the steepest, the
- 29:03Speaker 2: steepest thing you guys can relate to. I don't There's
- 29:06Speaker 2: not really anything too steep in Bakersfield. Maybe over there
- 29:09Speaker 2: by the gun range at Heart Park, maybe that little trail.
- 29:13Speaker 2: Maybe something steeper than that, but a lot longer. But yeah,
- 29:17Speaker 2: I'm surprised none of us got killed. I can't believe
- 29:20Speaker 2: we haven't died, that we didn't die coming down them
- 29:23Speaker 2: coming down that road. All right, So what are we
- 29:25Speaker 2: talking about here? In games we used to play, you know,
- 29:28Speaker 2: as kids, stupid things we used to do at summertime.
- 29:31Speaker 2: So it's a great time to do hood games.
- 29:34Speaker 1: What do we got here? Let's see yo.
- 29:37Speaker 2: Rome, when I was little had a prepaid phone, so
- 29:40Speaker 2: when my mom would call us to go home, we
- 29:43Speaker 2: had three minutes to hurry our butts home.
- 29:46Speaker 1: That's the scariest game we used to play back then.
- 29:51Speaker 1: That's pretty funny. That's kind of cool though.
- 29:54Speaker 2: Rome, my street started a war with our neighbor streets
- 29:58Speaker 2: using BB guns. They lasted all summer. I'm kind of
- 30:02Speaker 2: surprised we didn't shoot an eye out. Wow, already four.
- 30:08Speaker 1: Two boos, seven to seven? Uh, door knob was?
- 30:14Speaker 13: What is it?
- 30:15Speaker 3: Oh?
- 30:15Speaker 7: What?
- 30:15Speaker 1: I don't know what door knob is? I never heard
- 30:17Speaker 1: of that. You go ring the doorbell or I don't
- 30:20Speaker 1: know what that is. I never heard of that.
- 30:22Speaker 2: You know, when you were kids, man, especially the summertime
- 30:24Speaker 2: before iPads and computers and iPhones, you used to have
- 30:28Speaker 2: to go out and play. What kind of stupid things
- 30:30Speaker 2: did you do? Or what kind of games did you play? Hey, room,
- 30:33Speaker 2: this is seahawk, Lou, I remember when I was a kid.
- 30:36Speaker 2: Uh word worlds play? Open chest is when their chest
- 30:42Speaker 2: is not covered, they only have a shirt on, and
- 30:46Speaker 2: you punch them in the chest and say open chest.
- 30:52Speaker 1: Sounds like something stupid. They do in watco, doesn't it already?
- 30:56Speaker 2: Four two bos seven to seven a roam. We used
- 30:59Speaker 2: to play play play racers boxer. We get the kids
- 31:05Speaker 2: in the block and we all race. Race the two
- 31:08Speaker 2: that will last. Okay, you guys got to really read
- 31:12Speaker 2: your text messages. Okay, on the block, we will race.
- 31:17Speaker 1: The two that was last. Oh, the two that was last.
- 31:20Speaker 2: We'll have to box with boxing gloves and whoever loses
- 31:24Speaker 2: the match will be eliminated. Then when the match was over,
- 31:28Speaker 2: we will race again until it's down to the last two.
- 31:33Speaker 2: Sometimes I will lose on purpose just to box. Then
- 31:37Speaker 2: we start racing with other blocks and we made tournaments
- 31:40Speaker 2: of it. We had about four to five blocks where
- 31:44Speaker 2: the kids anywhere from thirty to forty kids sometimes out
- 31:48Speaker 2: there racing. Sometimes we will have the cops called on us,
- 31:52Speaker 2: but they didn't do anything long as we had the
- 31:54Speaker 2: boxing gloves on. Sometimes they would stay and watch. We
- 32:00Speaker 2: got plenty of exercise and we learned.
- 32:02Speaker 1: How to fight. Great.
- 32:05Speaker 2: It sounds like a great game, So we're talking about
- 32:09Speaker 2: some of those games used to play back in the day.
- 32:11Speaker 1: The neighborhood kids. You guys would all get together.
- 32:13Speaker 2: And try to entertain yourselves before you know technology came around.
- 32:18Speaker 1: A four two or seven to seven yar roam.
- 32:21Speaker 2: To keep it classic in Delano, we would like play basketball, football, boxing,
- 32:26Speaker 2: all the classics till about ten to eleven at night
- 32:28Speaker 2: in the street Heights. It was the best and when
- 32:32Speaker 2: one parent would call the first kid inside, they would
- 32:35Speaker 2: get clowned. But for custom games, we would play bike dodgeball.
- 32:42Speaker 2: Have a few friends riding bikes in the street with
- 32:45Speaker 2: other kids on each side of the sidewalk, two footballs
- 32:49Speaker 2: hitting of the people on the bikes.
- 32:52Speaker 1: Whoever, whoever hits the rider is now the rider. Fun times. Wow. Yeah, yeah, kids.
- 33:00Speaker 2: Played some dangerous games, man, It was kind of funny.
- 33:03Speaker 2: The kids would play some things where you can really
- 33:05Speaker 2: get hurt Back in the day. Talking about the games
- 33:07Speaker 2: we played when we were kids, man, we had to entertain,
- 33:10Speaker 2: especially summer you were home all day.
- 33:12Speaker 1: Rome.
- 33:13Speaker 2: I remember we play a game called suicide at the
- 33:15Speaker 2: handball courts. For the life of me, I can't remember
- 33:18Speaker 2: exactly how it went, but I remember it would be
- 33:21Speaker 2: a group of us and the last person would end
- 33:23Speaker 2: up getting jumped by everyone else, something to that effect.
- 33:28Speaker 2: At least kids these days are all iPad babies. Well,
- 33:33Speaker 2: why don't you take the iPads away from them? And
- 33:36Speaker 2: then they have to figure out something else to do.
- 33:38Speaker 2: So yesterday, when's the last time you had a stranger
- 33:42Speaker 2: help you? Or maybe you'll help somebody. I was over
- 33:46Speaker 2: in going by a store and I was coming out
- 33:50Speaker 2: of the store and got in the car, and the
- 33:52Speaker 2: sport girl, it looks like she was coming out of
- 33:54Speaker 2: work one of the businesses that was in the shopping
- 33:56Speaker 2: center I was at. And she's sitting there looking under
- 33:59Speaker 2: a hood, and I was thinking, I wonder what's wrong
- 34:01Speaker 2: with that? And I'm not, by any means, no mechanic,
- 34:05Speaker 2: by any means. I know very little about cars when
- 34:09Speaker 2: it comes to fixing them or how to know what's
- 34:11Speaker 2: wrong with them.
- 34:12Speaker 1: But nobody's helping her. It's one hundred degrees outside.
- 34:15Speaker 2: This poor girl, her, she has her work uniform on
- 34:18Speaker 2: and she's, you know, on her phone, I'm sure, trying
- 34:21Speaker 2: to call somebody to help her. Doesn't know what's going on.
- 34:24Speaker 2: So I thought, well, let me go see, let me
- 34:25Speaker 2: just see. Maybe it's maybe I'll get lucky and it's
- 34:28Speaker 2: just the battery. Because I do carry jumper cables with me,
- 34:31Speaker 2: you know, And I thought, well, let me just drive
- 34:34Speaker 2: by see if she wants some help.
- 34:36Speaker 1: Real nice lady.
- 34:37Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I think I think she thinks it's the
- 34:39Speaker 2: battery goes at the battery, and that I was just guessing.
- 34:42Speaker 2: So I pull out the jumper cables, get her going.
- 34:45Speaker 1: She's on her way.
- 34:47Speaker 2: Can't believe nobody helped her though all these big trucks,
- 34:50Speaker 2: these work trucks, these guys and these uh you know,
- 34:53Speaker 2: you could tell they were.
- 34:54Speaker 1: All driving work trucks. I was at a at a bar.
- 34:57Speaker 2: Restaurant, so the you could tell all the guys with
- 35:00Speaker 2: for lunch. One of these guys tried to help this
- 35:02Speaker 2: poor girl, right, I did.
- 35:04Speaker 1: Luckily.
- 35:05Speaker 2: Luckily it was something simple, you know, just as hey,
- 35:09Speaker 2: she needed to jump her battery was dead. At least
- 35:12Speaker 2: get her on her way, get her home, get it
- 35:14Speaker 2: taken care of. But what the hell's wrong with you?
- 35:16Speaker 1: Deeper man?
- 35:18Speaker 2: When's the last time somebody actually helped you, or you
- 35:20Speaker 2: actually help somebody just out of the kindness of your heart,
- 35:24Speaker 2: you know, because it's.
- 35:26Speaker 1: One hundred degrees outside.
- 35:28Speaker 2: My God, nobody likes breaking down, or nobody likes being
- 35:31Speaker 2: stranded or stuck, or it's just it's an awful feeling
- 35:35Speaker 2: already four, two, five four or seven to seven.
- 35:37Speaker 1: All right, I want to talk about strangers now.
- 35:39Speaker 2: I want to talk about strangers and how strangers have
- 35:41Speaker 2: done something good for you.
- 35:43Speaker 1: Back in the day.
- 35:44Speaker 2: Well, first of all, do strangers even do nice things
- 35:47Speaker 2: for anybody anymore? People that you don't know do they
- 35:49Speaker 2: do nice things for you? Do you do nice things
- 35:52Speaker 2: for people that you don't know? Does that even happen anymore?
- 35:55Speaker 2: With the world we live in? Right back in the day,
- 35:59Speaker 2: I'm gonna tell you this because I'll never forget it.
- 36:01Speaker 2: I was probably twelve, and we're going to Disneyland. Now,
- 36:04Speaker 2: we're coming from Humboldt County from an Indian reservation. So
- 36:07Speaker 2: we're driving from as close as you can to the
- 36:11Speaker 2: tip of California to the bottom of California, right and
- 36:16Speaker 2: we're coming down and we break down on the ninety nine.
- 36:18Speaker 2: We break down right there by Wasco on the ninety nine.
- 36:23Speaker 2: So tow truck comes, picks us up, takes us to Wasco.
- 36:26Speaker 2: There's a mechanic takes us to a mechanic shop. The
- 36:28Speaker 2: little old guy comes out says, you know what, I
- 36:31Speaker 2: don't got the part to fix your car. Where you
- 36:33Speaker 2: guys headed, We're heading to LA. Don't worry about it.
- 36:36Speaker 1: He rigs it up. I can fix this.
- 36:38Speaker 2: I can put this uses a you know, a toothpick,
- 36:40Speaker 2: a bottle cap, and you know, a tin can. He
- 36:43Speaker 2: puts it all together, fixes it force. They say, this
- 36:45Speaker 2: will get you to La, okay, But when you get
- 36:47Speaker 2: to LA, you're gonna have to get this part fixed right,
- 36:50Speaker 2: And we're on our way. He didn't charge us any
- 36:53Speaker 2: he didn't charge us for his time. He didn't charge
- 36:55Speaker 2: us for anything.
- 36:57Speaker 1: He just fixed it.
- 36:59Speaker 2: See that's a stranger doing something nice for a family,
- 37:01Speaker 2: just trying to get to Disneyland.
- 37:04Speaker 17: Now.
- 37:04Speaker 1: I don't know if people do that anymore, do they already?
- 37:07Speaker 7: Four?
- 37:07Speaker 2: Two, five, four, seven or Seven's the last time? What's
- 37:10Speaker 2: a nice thing of stranger's ever done? Or you've ever
- 37:12Speaker 2: done for a stranger?
- 37:13Speaker 7: Hey?
- 37:14Speaker 6: What's up?
- 37:15Speaker 1: What's going on?
- 37:15Speaker 13: Man?
- 37:16Speaker 6: Hey?
- 37:16Speaker 12: You know my cellphones?
- 37:17Speaker 9: A lot of times I always used to get new
- 37:20Speaker 9: ones because the chargers doesn't want to charge.
- 37:22Speaker 5: You got to wiggle the wire.
- 37:23Speaker 8: You gotta set something under the wire, you twist it.
- 37:26Speaker 12: You get it to hold the charge. Well, I stopped
- 37:29Speaker 12: right there at the Alberton shopping center, right there by
- 37:30Speaker 12: the house.
- 37:31Speaker 8: And uh, there's a cell phone repair guy and I
- 37:34Speaker 8: and I just happened.
- 37:35Speaker 10: I just told hey, dude, like my phone doesn't want
- 37:37Speaker 10: to charge it or something.
- 37:38Speaker 8: He go, hey, let me hold let me get it
- 37:39Speaker 8: real quick. Romie walks behind the wall and they take
- 37:41Speaker 8: them about two minutes. Came back and he says, here
- 37:44Speaker 8: they showed me that he charged it everything. And he goes,
- 37:46Speaker 8: if it ever happens again, just come back by. I go,
- 37:49Speaker 8: how much I owe you?
- 37:49Speaker 17: He goes, you don't know me not to do?
- 37:52Speaker 6: Oh man, So he saved me from having nobody you know,
- 37:54Speaker 6: you know how many pulled that bones wrong?
- 37:56Speaker 4: That's nice.
- 37:57Speaker 1: Another one that's awfully nice.
- 38:00Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 38:00Speaker 12: So I hooked them up with a few things and
- 38:02Speaker 12: it's under.
- 38:02Speaker 6: The watermelons are ready room.
- 38:04Speaker 8: I'm gonna just throw by it, hook them up too,
- 38:06Speaker 8: you know, because you know appreciate that.
- 38:08Speaker 13: You know what I mean.
- 38:08Speaker 8: It's not very many people in the droves anymore that
- 38:10Speaker 8: want to do something just to do it from their heart.
- 38:12Speaker 8: Everybody wants to book you.
- 38:14Speaker 2: Yeah, everybody wants something or they want to post it
- 38:16Speaker 2: on YouTube or or or social media to show how
- 38:20Speaker 2: nice they are.
- 38:20Speaker 1: You're absolutely right about that.
- 38:23Speaker 8: From their heart and whip away.
- 38:25Speaker 5: They have to have some kind of show how of
- 38:27Speaker 5: what they did to get there.
- 38:28Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, a bunch of clowns. Yeah, you're right, all.
- 38:33Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 38:34Speaker 1: I mean that's that's how pathetic you are as a society.
- 38:36Speaker 2: To be honest with you.
- 38:38Speaker 1: I mean, you guys, you want credit for helping somebody,
- 38:40Speaker 1: for being nice?
- 38:42Speaker 4: You know?
- 38:43Speaker 1: All right?
- 38:44Speaker 7: Hey?
- 38:44Speaker 2: Four two, five, four or seven to seven. When's the
- 38:46Speaker 2: last time you help somebody or a stranger helps you?
- 38:50Speaker 12: Rob here, I want to rob it's up, brother.
- 38:53Speaker 7: Hey.
- 38:53Speaker 5: Just the other day, I was out and Kneba and.
- 38:56Speaker 3: I was out there doing a job and I've seen his.
- 38:59Speaker 5: Old man, you know, on the side of the road.
- 39:01Speaker 3: Well, I was going down that street, so I pulled
- 39:02Speaker 3: over and asked hy he was going on, because, oh,
- 39:05Speaker 3: for some reason, my battery died and I said, oh, okay.
- 39:08Speaker 5: So I went over there and.
- 39:08Speaker 3: Looked at it, and the positive table was completely loose
- 39:12Speaker 3: and corroated. So, you know, I banged it on the
- 39:13Speaker 3: battery a couple of times and cleaned on the corrosion
- 39:15Speaker 3: under it, put it back on their tankage, and I
- 39:18Speaker 3: gave him a jump right. And at the time I'm
- 39:20Speaker 3: looking Okay, I gets thro ready lunch time. So I said,
- 39:22Speaker 3: all right, certainly you go, and he goes, oh yeah,
- 39:23Speaker 3: I go, you're good man, have a good day.
- 39:25Speaker 7: Broke.
- 39:25Speaker 5: So I got my truck.
- 39:26Speaker 3: I drove down the street about twenty five feet, went
- 39:28Speaker 3: to this top place, sit down and bordered. And then
- 39:31Speaker 3: next you know, he comes in there and he he goes,
- 39:34Speaker 3: he told the lady that got right there. He goes,
- 39:36Speaker 3: whatever you want, I'm paying for it.
- 39:38Speaker 2: About it.
- 39:38Speaker 12: Bless you like you bless me?
- 39:39Speaker 3: And I think, oh, definitely surtsday. Yeah, I mean half
- 39:42Speaker 3: to go, tie man, you showed that good faith brother
- 39:45Speaker 3: a lot of people.
- 39:46Speaker 13: You know.
- 39:47Speaker 1: Well, I'm gonna tell you guys.
- 39:48Speaker 13: I'll start.
- 39:49Speaker 2: I'm gonna tell you guys something crazy. So last month
- 39:53Speaker 2: I was, uh, I was driving down the street and
- 39:56Speaker 2: there was a truck for sale, and I was thinking,
- 39:58Speaker 2: you know, with us some pretty good looking truck. Let
- 39:59Speaker 2: me all this guy see how what he.
- 40:01Speaker 1: Wants for it?
- 40:02Speaker 2: And uh, the guy goes, uh, he calls me back
- 40:07Speaker 2: and he goes, he tells me what he wants for it.
- 40:09Speaker 1: He goes, well, come by and check it out. He goes.
- 40:11Speaker 2: Me and the wife were just bar and he was
- 40:12Speaker 2: an older guy, probably in his late sixties, maybe early seventies.
- 40:17Speaker 1: And he's an older guy, and he goes, me and
- 40:18Speaker 1: the wife were just barbecuing in the back. He goes,
- 40:20Speaker 1: just come on back, we'll have some burgers. You check
- 40:23Speaker 1: out the truck. We'll have some burgers. Said this guy was,
- 40:28Speaker 1: you don't run into people like that anymore at all.
- 40:31Speaker 1: You just don't run into people.
- 40:33Speaker 3: It was funny they did.
- 40:39Speaker 1: I couldn't afford the truck, but yeah, it was.
- 40:43Speaker 13: All right, Ralph.
- 40:44Speaker 2: But you just you don't run into people like that anymore, right,
- 40:47Speaker 2: I was just the guy calls me back. Me and
- 40:49Speaker 2: the wife are barbecue. Just come by, look at the truck.
- 40:51Speaker 2: We'll take up her spin.
- 40:52Speaker 1: You can have a burger.
- 40:53Speaker 2: Hang out for a minute, which is in the backyard.
- 40:55Speaker 2: It was a beautiful day, so I did. I mean,
- 40:58Speaker 2: the truck was a little more than I could afford.
- 40:59Speaker 2: But he ended up selling him probably the next day
- 41:02Speaker 2: or two hours later after I left.
- 41:04Speaker 1: He went and he didn't have it very long.
- 41:05Speaker 2: It was one of those you know sometimes for those
- 41:07Speaker 2: of you that don't know, there are cars out there
- 41:09Speaker 2: that'll go immediately.
- 41:10Speaker 1: People want them already. Four two five four seven to seven.
- 41:14Speaker 2: But just a stranger being nice man stranger. Actually, Bakersfield
- 41:18Speaker 2: has got.
- 41:19Speaker 1: A lot of nice people in it, a lot of
- 41:21Speaker 1: nice people, all right.
- 41:22Speaker 2: So I helped somebody out yesterday, just jumped their car,
- 41:26Speaker 2: jump their their batteryom was dead, so I had to
- 41:28Speaker 2: jumper cables in my truck.
- 41:29Speaker 1: So I helped them out. But when's the last time
- 41:33Speaker 1: you helped the stranger or was nice?
- 41:34Speaker 2: When's the last time a stranger has done something nice
- 41:37Speaker 2: or helped or maybe you're that person. You'd be surprised
- 41:41Speaker 2: how many nice people there still are in this world.
- 41:44Speaker 2: You just they met him yet already four two five,
- 41:46Speaker 2: four seven to seven.
- 41:47Speaker 1: Good Morning Rome.
- 41:48Speaker 2: During Christmas on a different radio station, they do cares
- 41:52Speaker 2: for kids, or where you adopt the family and buy
- 41:55Speaker 2: gifts for less fortunate. I adopted one and I didn't
- 41:58Speaker 2: tell anybody I did it. I didn't do it for
- 42:02Speaker 2: the praise. I did it because it makes me feel
- 42:04Speaker 2: good and help people.
- 42:06Speaker 1: Well, that's good. You should do that.
- 42:07Speaker 2: I mean, that's a great everybody. I mean, that's one
- 42:11Speaker 2: of the other things. Everybody wants some sort of praise.
- 42:14Speaker 1: For what they did.
- 42:15Speaker 2: Maybe if you were just a good person and can
- 42:17Speaker 2: look yourself in the mirror at the middle of the
- 42:18Speaker 2: night and know you did it. You've done right by everybody.
- 42:22Speaker 2: You wouldn't need some redemption on social media. That's the
- 42:25Speaker 2: stupidity of you people who think that you think you
- 42:28Speaker 2: do it for the right reasons, and then you put
- 42:30Speaker 2: it on social media and you're just a moron.
- 42:32Speaker 1: It's really all you are.
- 42:33Speaker 2: Because you're doing it for yourself at that point, not
- 42:36Speaker 2: for helping somebody else out.
- 42:38Speaker 1: Already for two pop four seven seven, So what happened?
- 42:42Speaker 2: When's the last time something you just did nice, something
- 42:44Speaker 2: nice for somebody you know, or somebody's done something nice
- 42:48Speaker 2: for you, you help somebody out?
- 42:50Speaker 1: I mean already four two fop four or seven to seven?
- 42:54Speaker 4: What's the wrong with glue? Man?
- 42:55Speaker 1: Put blue?
- 42:57Speaker 6: Hey, so I did a nice thing yesterday.
- 42:59Speaker 4: Okay.
- 43:01Speaker 7: It was a hot day, man, and I was walking
- 43:03Speaker 7: over to the vending machine to.
- 43:05Speaker 9: Buy a cold water for a dollar.
- 43:07Speaker 13: Right.
- 43:08Speaker 7: Wait, what it was a hot day and I was
- 43:11Speaker 7: walking over to the vending machine to.
- 43:13Speaker 9: Buy a cold water for one dollar.
- 43:15Speaker 4: Okay, And before I got to the vending machine, it's
- 43:19Speaker 4: okay to ramp ast me and beat me to it.
- 43:23Speaker 3: And he pulled out a bunch of change like quarters
- 43:26Speaker 3: and dimes, okay, and.
- 43:29Speaker 6: He was he was trying to get a gatorade for
- 43:31Speaker 6: two dollars.
- 43:32Speaker 1: Okay.
- 43:33Speaker 6: I guess he only had one dollar and he didn't
- 43:36Speaker 6: know what to do. And I looked at my wallet. Man,
- 43:40Speaker 6: I only had one dollar cash, and.
- 43:42Speaker 9: I gave it to the kids I could get a gatorade.
- 43:45Speaker 4: And I suffered, and you suffered.
- 43:47Speaker 1: You didn't get your water.
- 43:48Speaker 6: I didn't get my water for a dollar roll. I
- 43:52Speaker 6: was going to be one of the nicest things in
- 43:54Speaker 6: the Vegas yesterday.
- 43:56Speaker 1: What to sacrifice? Look at how nice?
- 44:02Speaker 2: The how glue is huh? Already four two, seven and seven.
- 44:10Speaker 2: It's the last time you did something nice for a stranger.
- 44:13Speaker 2: And maybe somebody said something nice to you or for you.
- 44:16Speaker 2: So we're talking about doing nice things for strangers. There's
- 44:18Speaker 2: somebody doing something nice for you, helping you out, just
- 44:21Speaker 2: out of the kindness of their heart.
- 44:22Speaker 1: Hey, roam.
- 44:23Speaker 2: I work out in the oil fields and finished working
- 44:25Speaker 2: a twelve hour day and was headed home back to Bakersfield.
- 44:28Speaker 2: On Tapped Highway. I see an older man and a
- 44:30Speaker 2: woman on the side of the road with a flat tire.
- 44:33Speaker 2: Maybe you turn, maybe you turn it. Came back to
- 44:36Speaker 2: see if they needed any help. Come to find out
- 44:39Speaker 2: their car did not have a floor jack what I
- 44:42Speaker 2: happened to have one, went ahead and changed the tire
- 44:46Speaker 2: for them. The older man wanted to pay me, but
- 44:48Speaker 2: I told him, no, just pay it forward.
- 44:50Speaker 1: Well, I mean, nuts, what does that come to.
- 44:54Speaker 2: But that's what life's come to, right, That's awfully nice
- 44:56Speaker 2: of you to do that for somebody, because the world's
- 45:00Speaker 2: to well, if I'm gonna help you, you gonna help me,
- 45:02Speaker 2: or I'm gonna put it on social media, get some
- 45:04Speaker 2: she gets some like, so people will I can get paid?
- 45:07Speaker 1: Yeah, nobody.
- 45:10Speaker 2: But the bad part about it is what you see
- 45:14Speaker 2: in the world is not the real world. I know
- 45:17Speaker 2: so many nice people in Bakersfield that will do things
- 45:20Speaker 2: for people just out of the kindness, just out of kindness.
- 45:25Speaker 2: There are so many people here that I know that
- 45:27Speaker 2: will help you out just because they're like that, you know.
- 45:31Speaker 2: And it's funny because uh, Rubin and Ruben and Raider
- 45:35Speaker 2: Rob always are there, even Raider Dave. These guys, these
- 45:37Speaker 2: cats will all argue on the radio with each other.
- 45:40Speaker 2: But man, the things they'll do for people just because
- 45:42Speaker 2: they're good guys. Yeah for saying that, but just I've
- 45:47Speaker 2: seen it happen with all of them, you know. But
- 45:49Speaker 2: they'll all fight with each other all day long on
- 45:51Speaker 2: the radio. They just they just don't like each other. Hey, Roan,
- 45:54Speaker 2: what about stranger danger. I'm not asking kids to walk
- 45:57Speaker 2: up to strangers. I'm talking about as a all, somebody
- 46:00Speaker 2: helped you out that. You don't know, what's the nicest
- 46:03Speaker 2: thing a stranger has done for you?
- 46:05Speaker 1: Yeah, what's going on? What up? Man?
- 46:09Speaker 8: Hey?
- 46:09Speaker 10: So yesterday I was at seven eleven and for some reason,
- 46:13Speaker 10: my car didn't want to go through. I tried a
- 46:15Speaker 10: couple of cards and their machine wasn't working right, So
- 46:17Speaker 10: I had to leave a couple of breakfast talk with
- 46:19Speaker 10: Minnesota Anyway. On my way out, some dude's like, hey,
- 46:23Speaker 10: I'll pay for you, and I was like, are you sure.
- 46:25Speaker 10: He's like yeah, some big, heavy set dude. His name
- 46:28Speaker 10: was Leo, So Leo, if you're listening, thank you.
- 46:31Speaker 14: Anyway.
- 46:32Speaker 10: Yeah, he paid for me, asked me what I did,
- 46:34Speaker 10: And now I'm a school bus shop. We're dropping food
- 46:36Speaker 10: off to the special needs kids. So they show me
- 46:38Speaker 10: all my in my uniform though, he said Christmas came early.
- 46:42Speaker 2: That's just karma right there. Yeah, hey, because I know
- 46:45Speaker 2: a big dude named Leo. Did he look like he
- 46:50Speaker 2: could be a bouncer at a club.
- 46:53Speaker 10: Yeah, right, picker on the back of his on the
- 46:58Speaker 10: back of his stuv sol here you go.
- 47:01Speaker 17: You know.
- 47:01Speaker 2: You know what's funny is I'll pay for somebody's stuff
- 47:04Speaker 2: in front of me. Just all the hurry up, guys,
- 47:07Speaker 2: they're taking too long.
- 47:09Speaker 4: Dude, put it on my pap.
- 47:10Speaker 17: We could hurry up.
- 47:11Speaker 2: Exactly, get out of because that'll be fumbling and for
- 47:13Speaker 2: a couple of coffee.
- 47:14Speaker 1: I'll be like, I got it, bro, Just move out
- 47:16Speaker 1: of my way.
- 47:16Speaker 13: I gotta do some.
- 47:19Speaker 1: All right, man, thanks for calling. That's what I'm saying.
- 47:22Speaker 2: Do strangers still do things for do nice things to
- 47:25Speaker 2: other for for other people? I guess they do already.
- 47:29Speaker 2: Four two, five, four or seven seven? Like I said,
- 47:31Speaker 2: what's the nicest thing the stranger's ever done for you?
- 47:34Speaker 2: Or maybe you've done it? People still help out other
- 47:36Speaker 2: people when they don't know them, Strangers helping strangers.
- 47:39Speaker 1: What's the nicest thing anyone's done for you? Good morning? Helps?
- 47:44Speaker 1: What's going on?
- 47:45Speaker 17: I heard the radio for like a nice stranger? To
- 47:48Speaker 17: do for you guys.
- 47:49Speaker 1: Yeah, what's up?
- 47:50Speaker 17: Nice stranger for me?
- 47:52Speaker 6: They did.
- 47:52Speaker 17: They bought me a for my I lost a loved
- 47:55Speaker 17: one before they they pay for my cross and for
- 47:58Speaker 17: the last thir things came. I mean, I have a
- 48:01Speaker 17: homeless smith for things giving, and I gave him a
- 48:04Speaker 17: play for food and like he was homeless, and he
- 48:07Speaker 17: was like asking for food, like I gave it to him,
- 48:11Speaker 17: like like homeless food for him.
- 48:14Speaker 11: Like for things giving, you gave him food.
- 48:16Speaker 2: You gave him food. You didn't give him homeless food.
- 48:18Speaker 2: You gave him food because he was homeless. Okay, all right,
- 48:20Speaker 2: Well thanks for going.
- 48:21Speaker 1: Appreciate it.
- 48:22Speaker 13: Thank you.
- 48:23Speaker 2: See it's nice to see that people are still doing
- 48:25Speaker 2: stuff for people that don't.
- 48:26Speaker 1: Know what's going on.
- 48:30Speaker 19: So I have something that a stranger did for me
- 48:32Speaker 19: that I was incredibly nice.
- 48:34Speaker 2: Hold on, first of all, you're probably a hot chick,
- 48:36Speaker 2: so guys do stuff for you all the time.
- 48:39Speaker 18: No, this was I was on my way into Bakersfield
- 48:42Speaker 18: and I don't know it very well, and my daughter
- 48:46Speaker 18: had a doctor's appointment at a hospital, and I got
- 48:50Speaker 18: to what I thought was like the nearest area, and
- 48:52Speaker 18: I rolled down my window and a couple next to
- 48:55Speaker 18: me in the h at the stoplight, I said, hey,
- 48:59Speaker 18: do you guys know where hospitals at a big favor
- 49:02Speaker 18: and guide me there?
- 49:03Speaker 19: And they say, yeah, no problems. So they got in
- 49:05Speaker 19: front of me and they took these five or six
- 49:07Speaker 19: miles and I ended up getting to her appointment on time.
- 49:10Speaker 19: And I was incredibly grateful. I didn't know them and
- 49:13Speaker 19: they were super sweet to help me out.
- 49:15Speaker 2: That is nice because sometimes people's time. People are more
- 49:18Speaker 2: stingy with their time than they are with money or
- 49:22Speaker 2: you know things like that. That actually is extremely nice.
- 49:25Speaker 19: Yeah, and I was so grateful. I was like, man,
- 49:27Speaker 19: I wish I would have gotten her names or something, but.
- 49:30Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, well thanks for calling. I appreciate it.
- 49:33Speaker 6: Yeah, thanks all right?
- 49:34Speaker 1: Four two five, four seven to seven. Yeah.
- 49:36Speaker 2: So what's the nicest thing stranger's ever done for you?
- 49:39Speaker 2: And I know that that that the couple leading her
- 49:42Speaker 2: to the hospital seems a little silly, but a lot
- 49:44Speaker 2: of people are very stingy with their time.
- 49:46Speaker 6: Man.
- 49:47Speaker 1: They won't even give you good directions. They won't even
- 49:49Speaker 1: take the time to give you directions, let alone drive
- 49:51Speaker 1: you there.
- 49:55Speaker 5: I had a story when I was smaller and my
- 49:58Speaker 5: brother was working in school and and I wanted to
- 50:02Speaker 5: look like a gay. I don't know what I want.
- 50:04Speaker 5: I think I wanted the eating and uh he said, no,
- 50:07Speaker 5: he's stingy. And uh, there was a person behind us.
- 50:12Speaker 5: He was sharing the whole conversation like I really wanted
- 50:14Speaker 5: a deva.
- 50:14Speaker 12: It was hi and everything.
- 50:16Speaker 5: So my brother he said no, so I will row
- 50:19Speaker 5: into the car. We did in the car and uh
- 50:23Speaker 5: when from the other guy came out the when that
- 50:26Speaker 5: was behind us, you want to bother me, my data age.
- 50:31Speaker 5: He looked at my brother, you know, like he's like
- 50:35Speaker 5: he didn't say nothing by like, but he's looking like, oh,
- 50:38Speaker 5: you got to be stingy, you know, you just want
- 50:39Speaker 5: the gathering. But walked on and I'm like, oh damn,
- 50:44Speaker 5: that was like the nicest thing. Yeah, because that was
- 50:47Speaker 5: a long time ago, all that and everything.
- 50:50Speaker 2: I don't know if people still do nice things for
- 50:51Speaker 2: everything anymore, just out of the kindness of the hardware.
- 50:54Speaker 2: I think they do. I think they do.
- 50:55Speaker 5: Yeah, I think they do.
- 50:57Speaker 4: I do.
- 50:57Speaker 5: Sometimes I want to say a homeless person, I'm like,
- 51:00Speaker 5: you know what, I don't want get them cash, but
- 51:01Speaker 5: like I'll buy you something. Sometimes I'm just give it
- 51:05Speaker 5: a cash and I'll buy myself.
- 51:07Speaker 2: Speaking of home, Speaking of homeless, I was walking down
- 51:10Speaker 2: of the gas station the other day and about three
- 51:13Speaker 2: a SPEC's have been about three thirty in the morning
- 51:15Speaker 2: right over here.
- 51:16Speaker 1: And the homeless guy asked me by a change for
- 51:18Speaker 1: a hundred What I said, No, I don't.
- 51:23Speaker 2: I had to ask you to borrow money, all remember one,
- 51:28Speaker 2: alrighty bot seven to seven. The problem is this when
- 51:33Speaker 2: it comes to people doing nice things just because they're nice.
- 51:37Speaker 1: People is nice. People don't want credit for it.
- 51:41Speaker 2: Nice people don't put it on social media so you
- 51:43Speaker 2: can see how nice they are. Only insecure losers do that,
- 51:47Speaker 2: you know, And that's just why. Yeah, So that's why
- 51:52Speaker 2: you don't think there's as many nice people in this
- 51:54Speaker 2: world as there are.
- 51:54Speaker 1: And there really are. There's a lot of great people
- 51:56Speaker 1: in Bakersfield that.
- 51:57Speaker 2: You never know how nice they are, all right, because
- 52:00Speaker 2: they're not filming it already four four or seven and seven,
- 52:04Speaker 2: I would say. They guy remind me of a story
- 52:05Speaker 2: about ten years ago. I was in was around Christmas time.
- 52:08Speaker 2: About ten years ago, I was at a No, it
- 52:11Speaker 2: had to be longer that Whe's the last time toys
- 52:13Speaker 2: r rust existed. It was at a Toys r Rust
- 52:16Speaker 2: so it must have been longer than ten years ago.
- 52:19Speaker 2: You know, you get gift cards. This little girl had
- 52:21Speaker 2: a twenty dollars gift card. And I'm standing in Toys
- 52:25Speaker 2: r US and the little girl grabs his doll and
- 52:28Speaker 2: it was like a Barbie or something. Nineteen ninety nine.
- 52:32Speaker 2: Little girl's got a twenty dollars gift card. Mom tells her, well, no,
- 52:37Speaker 2: you don't.
- 52:37Speaker 1: Have enough tax.
- 52:38Speaker 2: You gotta have enough for tax. It's gonna be more
- 52:40Speaker 2: than twenty dollars. You gotta get something else. I thought
- 52:42Speaker 2: to myself, you know what.
- 52:43Speaker 1: So I was just standing there.
- 52:45Speaker 2: I said, here, here's five bucks. I get the girl
- 52:47Speaker 2: five bucks so she'd have enough to and the mom
- 52:50Speaker 2: lost her mind.
- 52:51Speaker 1: Was so upset. No, she needs to learn. I'm like,
- 52:54Speaker 1: she's eight.
- 52:55Speaker 2: She needs to learn about four dollars or three dollars
- 52:58Speaker 2: whatever tax is. On nineteen ninety nine, however long ago,
- 53:03Speaker 2: you know, I never had that conversation with you guys
- 53:06Speaker 2: if it was right or wrong to do that.
- 53:08Speaker 1: But screw that, Mom, be a better parent.
- 53:11Speaker 2: But we were talking about doing nice things for people
- 53:13Speaker 2: this morning, and one of the things I did a
- 53:16Speaker 2: few years ago when Toys Arrest was open. A little girl,
- 53:18Speaker 2: she could have been more than seven or eight. She
- 53:20Speaker 2: had little twenty dollars gift cards she got for Christmas, right,
- 53:23Speaker 2: and her mom was telling her, well, you can't buy
- 53:24Speaker 2: that Barbie doll because that Barbie doll is nineteen ninety
- 53:26Speaker 2: nine and there's going to be taxed. So I gave
- 53:28Speaker 2: her five bucks, and the mom got pissed at me
- 53:30Speaker 2: for doing that, and I thought, why are you being
- 53:32Speaker 2: a jackass. She's just a little girl trying to spend
- 53:35Speaker 2: her gift card. I mean, you can't cover the three
- 53:37Speaker 2: dollars for the tax because you're her mom, And then
- 53:40Speaker 2: you're gonna get mad at me for trying to be nice.
- 53:42Speaker 1: Yeah, what's going on, Romeo?
- 53:44Speaker 18: So you're talking about the lady.
- 53:46Speaker 19: You know you wanted to little enough with girl her
- 53:49Speaker 19: the five you know, the extra.
- 53:51Speaker 7: Tax selling, Okay, So I think I think it's you're right,
- 53:55Speaker 7: and also the mom's right.
- 53:57Speaker 10: I mean, the little girl needs.
- 53:58Speaker 1: To learn that there is no hold on slow down, mom,
- 54:01Speaker 1: not at eight.
- 54:03Speaker 7: Well yeah, yes, but I also agree that you're in
- 54:06Speaker 7: the right.
- 54:07Speaker 19: You need to know there are is kind people that
- 54:09Speaker 19: you know out there soeteen, Ki's important because you know,
- 54:12Speaker 19: money doesn't grow on street.
- 54:13Speaker 17: They need to know those things too.
- 54:15Speaker 1: Yeah, but not at eight years old. That the little
- 54:18Speaker 1: girl couldn't have been more than seven or eight.
- 54:19Speaker 18: What's that I thought my kids about tax dollars?
- 54:23Speaker 17: Like?
- 54:23Speaker 4: I mean, they need to know at seven and eight.
- 54:28Speaker 1: Oh my god, you're a terrible mother. What is wrong
- 54:30Speaker 1: with you? You're an awful mother.
- 54:33Speaker 2: You probably had them talking politics and wards and what
- 54:35Speaker 2: is wrong with you? Kids need to be kids till
- 54:38Speaker 2: about seventeen, sixteen, seventeen. They need to be a kids
- 54:41Speaker 2: and be oblivious to a bunch of nonsense in the world,
- 54:44Speaker 2: and taxes is one of them.
- 54:46Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 54:46Speaker 19: I think that's a petty subject.
- 54:47Speaker 17: But maybe I don't know.
- 54:50Speaker 19: All right, you talk my kids that and nothing's free.
- 54:53Speaker 1: Well not at seven at seven? At seven, everything's free.
- 54:58Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean if you're finding a boy, yes, I mean,
- 55:02Speaker 7: we don't want to put pressure on them.
- 55:03Speaker 14: For the basic necessities.
- 55:06Speaker 1: Yeah, you're a bad mom, all right, get out of here. Yeah, no,
- 55:12Speaker 1: she sounds like a good mom. I'm just kidding with you.
- 55:15Speaker 1: But until about.
- 55:19Speaker 2: A kid should be a kid and not worry about
- 55:22Speaker 2: anything until about maybe fourteen fifteen maybe a yeah, that's
- 55:28Speaker 2: maybe when you used to start teaching them about that
- 55:30Speaker 2: life isn't free, but you don't do it at seven
- 55:32Speaker 2: or eight. So years ago, there was a little girl
- 55:35Speaker 2: at a Toys r US and I was She had
- 55:38Speaker 2: a twenty dollars gift card right for her toy. She
- 55:40Speaker 2: wanted to buy a doll I was like nineteen ninety nine.
- 55:42Speaker 2: The mom was, no, you can't buy that, you don't
- 55:45Speaker 2: have enough money for the tax So I handed. I
- 55:47Speaker 2: would just standing there hand to the girl five bucks.
- 55:49Speaker 1: Mom got mad. I was just trying to be nice
- 55:51Speaker 1: to the little girl. She could have been more than
- 55:53Speaker 1: seven or eight, but I thought the mom was being
- 55:55Speaker 1: a jackass. Good morning.
- 55:56Speaker 9: I was going on, Hi, how are you doing.
- 56:03Speaker 3: I'm doing good, I'm doing good, so long time listener.
- 56:07Speaker 5: But I was gonna say, it was nice for you
- 56:12Speaker 5: to give the girl the extra money for the taxes.
- 56:14Speaker 7: But I'm just gonna let you know there's little.
- 56:17Speaker 5: Kids out there like my daughter who.
- 56:19Speaker 3: Knows she doesn't have enough money, and I'll try to buy.
- 56:22Speaker 16: Stuff over what you have and tries to make me
- 56:25Speaker 16: pay the red I'll sit there.
- 56:28Speaker 5: And argue with her.
- 56:28Speaker 17: And if somebody else comes in and says, hey.
- 56:30Speaker 7: I'll give her the rest of the money.
- 56:32Speaker 10: I'll let them wait.
- 56:33Speaker 4: How old?
- 56:34Speaker 1: How old is your daughter?
- 56:35Speaker 7: She's eleven.
- 56:37Speaker 1: You're raised a straight hustler.
- 56:39Speaker 11: Boy, she is a hustler.
- 56:42Speaker 3: She's like, I'm gonna make sure my uncles never have
- 56:44Speaker 3: kids so they can give me all their money.
- 56:50Speaker 1: You got a little gold digger in the mess.
- 56:54Speaker 3: It's just like her, mama.
- 57:00Speaker 8: What's up from you?
- 57:01Speaker 7: What?
- 57:02Speaker 3: I don't know if this counts, but what do you
- 57:04Speaker 3: call it?
- 57:06Speaker 20: I had to stop at a gas station.
- 57:08Speaker 16: And I went inside to go get, you know, get
- 57:10Speaker 16: some stuff. And when I was walking in, I seen
- 57:13Speaker 16: this guy. Man, this homeless guy was acting like all
- 57:15Speaker 16: I whacked down and everything. So I went inside and
- 57:18Speaker 16: when I was coming out, all of a sudden, this
- 57:21Speaker 16: homelely guy started walks up to me and started acting
- 57:24Speaker 16: all crazy.
- 57:24Speaker 20: I wanted to get into.
- 57:25Speaker 4: A fight with me and everything.
- 57:27Speaker 5: One I don't know.
- 57:29Speaker 20: And all of a sudden, these these two guys, big
- 57:33Speaker 20: old guys come out of the store and they're like, hey, man,
- 57:36Speaker 20: go ahead, homie, we got you. Yeah, And I'm like,
- 57:40Speaker 20: all right, mass okank for me. I consider that somebody
- 57:45Speaker 20: and I didn't even know these guys go to big guys.
- 57:51Speaker 1: That's funny, man, that's really funny. That's really good. That's
- 57:55Speaker 1: really good. That was nice. That was nice of the
- 57:57Speaker 1: guys to not let you get beat up by a
- 57:59Speaker 1: homeless guy.
- 58:00Speaker 5: Yeah, this guy looked like out of his mind.
- 58:02Speaker 1: And oh, that's awesome, man, thanks for calling. All right,
- 58:07Speaker 1: man already four seven to seven.
- 58:13Speaker 2: Oh what was I going to tell you about? I
- 58:16Speaker 2: was thinking about a gas station story, and I just
- 58:18Speaker 2: I just lost my train of thought.
- 58:19Speaker 1: Room.
- 58:20Speaker 2: I was at the shell station on Stockdale and bought
- 58:23Speaker 2: a homeless guy some snacks. M oh, you know what, um,
- 58:29Speaker 2: And when he left, the cashier tells me he just
- 58:32Speaker 2: got out of prison for trying to kill his mom,
- 58:34Speaker 2: his own mom.
- 58:35Speaker 1: Oh my god, I gotta.
- 58:39Speaker 2: Tell you a funny thing, another story. You guys can
- 58:41Speaker 2: tell me if I'm wrong or not. I was at
- 58:44Speaker 2: the gas station right here, grabbing a cup of coffee
- 58:47Speaker 2: the other day. This could have been last week, or
- 58:50Speaker 2: I mean, it could have been last month, but the
- 58:51Speaker 2: other day, and I grabbed a I grabbed a They
- 58:55Speaker 2: sell the chicken strips, right, so I grabbed the I said,
- 58:58Speaker 2: let me get a couple of chicken strips. I was hungry, right,
- 59:01Speaker 2: So as I was leaving, another guy was walking in
- 59:07Speaker 2: with the homeless guy who was standing in the front,
- 59:10Speaker 2: and the guy was being real nice. He goes, man,
- 59:13Speaker 2: you want a cup of coffee, get something to drink,
- 59:15Speaker 2: you know, some water whatever, right, And as I was
- 59:18Speaker 2: walking by, I just handed the homeless guy my food.
- 59:22Speaker 2: I sit here, here's some food to go along with it.
- 59:24Speaker 1: And I walked out.
- 59:25Speaker 2: And then as I got in the car coming back
- 59:27Speaker 2: to the station, I was thinking, did I just take that?
- 59:31Speaker 2: Did I just steal that guy's niceness because he had
- 59:34Speaker 2: already offered the homeless guy, you know, drinks. It didn't
- 59:37Speaker 2: even occur to me. I just thought I was getting
- 59:39Speaker 2: the guy drinks. Let me give him my food. I
- 59:41Speaker 2: really didn't need the food. It was probably worked out
- 59:43Speaker 2: better for me. But I mean I just thought that.
- 59:45Speaker 2: I thought, did I just steal that guy's thunder by
- 59:48Speaker 2: handing the homeless guy?
- 59:50Speaker 1: I mean, I maybe I did. Hey, good morning Rome.
- 59:53Speaker 1: I had a sweet experience at the grocery store.
- 59:55Speaker 2: An elderly woman shopping with her caregiver, didn't have money,
- 59:59Speaker 2: didn't have enough money for all her fruits and vegetables.
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: She wanted, so she had to leave some behind.
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: While she was bagging her groceries, I asked the cashier
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: to go to add those items to my purchase. She
- 1:00:12Speaker 2: was so grateful and I told her no thanks. I
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: told her no thanks were needed, just enjoy them. See, yeah, yeah,
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: that was nice of you.
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: Hey, Romeo.
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: While the woman always got to try to defend each other,
- 1:00:26Speaker 2: you was right to give that too young.
- 1:00:30Speaker 17: You was right.
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: They're too young to learn about taxes.
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: They didn't defend the lady with the bikini swimsuit from
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: that out day, Oh yeah, from the other day. They
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: defend each other, but at the same time hate on
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: each other. Only in America. Laught, Well, that's just women
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: in general. Women are gonna you know, that's just women
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: in general. I know I was right.
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: I know exactly how I'm right.
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: A kid does not need to really to learn about
