- 0:00Smila Rahmad, Rahim Assalamu Alaikum brothers and sisters,
- 0:03wherever you are tuning in from around the world and welcome
- 0:06back to another episode here on your favorite Muslim podcast
- 0:10after Maghrib Inshallah. You've been tuning in week in,
- 0:12week out over the last few weeks and benefiting from the
- 0:15conversations we've had here solo, myself and Ahmed, and of
- 0:18course with our respected guests who every combo has been
- 0:22amazing. And I say that because this is
- 0:24possibly, well, I think it definitely is the final episode
- 0:28of the season here after Maghrib for the podcast, Season 5 of
- 0:32Mandela has been, I'll save that to the end, actually.
- 0:37But today, let's focus on Charlotte reacting to a number
- 0:40of clips that have gone viral that have been shared across
- 0:43WhatsApp, across Instagram, social media, and of course, to
- 0:46WhatsApp also after Maghrib with, if I'm not mistaken,
- 0:51people think react to these clips.
- 0:54So Charlotte, we're going to get to that soon, but I'm actually
- 0:59treading this. Why?
- 1:00That means I'm not here next week to record.
- 1:02But yeah, I'll say I'll save. That you're not here for a
- 1:04different reason, say. Don't expose.
- 1:17No comments. How's it going?
- 1:21You good, bro? Yeah, I'm good.
- 1:22I'm excited for today. Yeah, we are, of course, now
- 1:27approaching. We're a day or two away from the
- 1:28date, the day of. So in advance, congratulations
- 1:34to you all. Congratulations to the amount of
- 1:36our time, Mum. So I have a loss of Azaman on
- 1:38this day of joy, this period of happiness and joy.
- 1:43I said joy already, but joy again because we rejoice.
- 1:46The moments of joy for the utter debate are moments of joy for
- 1:50us, and in the same way, moments of grief for them are moments of
- 1:53grief for us. And I think today we're going to
- 1:56go through a mixture of emotions, some happy, some sad,
- 1:58some hilarious. I'm expecting, we don't know
- 2:01what's coming up, so we'll leave that.
- 2:03Can I guess? Go on bro, I'll.
- 2:05Have a guess. I don't know if it's true.
- 2:07I don't know the exact content that's going to be shared here
- 2:12on the podcast, but I have a feeling definitely something
- 2:14against you or. Classic.
- 2:17Definitely something got to do with inshallah the Quran.
- 2:21I hope so. And maybe one or two funny
- 2:26viral. We have something contemporary.
- 2:28Something. Let's go, Let's go, St.
- 2:30Mudge, let's up. Never been to a Shia mask and
- 2:32today my friend has will be showing us the Shia mask this.
- 2:41Happened. This is my first time so the guy
- 2:45here is happy. Empowered because he's
- 2:47publicizing it that he has Shia friends and he's going to their
- 2:50mosque and doing their rituals in their religion.
- 2:54See, dear brothers and sisters, you have to understand one
- 2:56thing. We can coexist with anyone with
- 2:57an atheist, with a Christian, with a Jew, the Shia, with any
- 3:01other sect in Islam and even other religions and all that.
- 3:04OK, OK. But it is a problem when these
- 3:07sects are aggressive towards you and they want to harm you, OK.
- 3:11And they conspire against you? Yeah.
- 3:13Yeah, cut off. We don't want to hear.
- 3:17Nonsense. Rabbi Faris on the Aftermarket
- 3:20podcast. No thank you.
- 3:22No thank you. He's known in the streets as
- 3:24Rabbi Faris. You know this guy has the
- 3:27audacity to call Shia marriages prostitution.
- 3:32No way. I came across the cloud.
- 3:34Anyway, that's a separate conversation, but he has this
- 3:37Mashallah public confidence and he's comfortable in speaking
- 3:44like this against the Shia. By the way, back to the original
- 3:46clip, this was Brother Hassan. Yeah, shout out to him, but he's
- 3:51doing good. Workman I.
- 3:52Saw he recently released content where he went to the ziad of
- 3:55Arbayan. Beautiful content and I think he
- 3:56shared his genuine experience of spirituality and seeing these
- 4:01holy shrines, etcetera. So that was very nice of him.
- 4:04Yeah, do you know what as well? I, I, I respect the fact that he
- 4:08he took his friends to the Masjid and he showed them first
- 4:12hand. Of course it's fun.
- 4:13Like he showed the fun side of our faith, the locked me yards
- 4:17and then obviously the spiritual side of it as well.
- 4:19The first thing we saw before the the guy cut us off was him
- 4:23holding a turtle bar and teaching them.
- 4:25What I thought about is I've seen the full video.
- 4:26It's really nice. And if I'm not mistaken, in that
- 4:29video, there's a there's a guy who teaches them for Alvan or
- 4:33recites the Alvan or something like that for them.
- 4:35It's nice. Like it's a really nice video.
- 4:37It's just a shame that you've got these like neo Salafi
- 4:41Wahhabi preachers and and these Instagram chefs who these guys
- 4:46are so loud when it comes to matters to do with the Shia.
- 4:50But when it comes to matters to do with geopolitics, they are
- 4:53quiet as a mouse. And unfortunately that's just
- 4:56the way it is or they're extremely hypocritical.
- 4:58And in his case, unfortunately, it's both.
- 5:00But shout out to him, man. And I think a lot of us should
- 5:03should feel confident in bringing our non Shia friends to
- 5:06our Majalis, to our Hussein yacht, our events, because it's
- 5:10a place of spirituality and talk.
- 5:11You know, we should normalize, go on.
- 5:13I think every Muharram we should normalize bring.
- 5:16Bring a friend. To much more slim friend to the
- 5:19Husseinian. Yeah, 100%, a hundred percent,
- 5:21100. Percent.
- 5:21And bro, more than that, like in all seriousness, know how in my
- 5:27humble opinion, and I'm still learning, we all are, how to
- 5:30pitch Shah Islam, you know? Have you heard of the concept of
- 5:34an elevator pitch? So if, if you're standing in an
- 5:37elevator with, with a millionaire, he says to me, sell
- 5:40me your business or your idea. You pitch it in 30 seconds.
- 5:43What's your elevator pitch for the Shiite school of thought or
- 5:46for example, one step further for Majoris or Mohammed Hussein
- 5:49Ali Salam, How would you pitch that in 30 seconds?
- 5:52It's a hard question and the answers will always vary.
- 5:55Ultimately, you bring it back to what you're doing, why you're
- 5:59doing it, who it's for and how you practice it.
- 6:02That's that's what I would do if I, I would try and answer like
- 6:04these four questions. I think all of us, as young
- 6:06Muslims in the West, young Shia, we have that responsibility to
- 6:09try and practice that skill. Beautiful, So beautiful.
- 6:12Yeah, Next clip. Next go.
- 6:13Let's go. Next clip.
- 6:15Thank you. Today over 260 million people
- 6:18stopped to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussein.
- 6:21Peace be upon him. 1300 years since the tragedy on the plains
- 6:25of Karbala in Iraq. People from Holsworthy and all
- 6:28over the world. Still stop to commemorate and
- 6:30contemplate the lessons learned on that day and how they still
- 6:34apply regardless of our. Station in life, Imam Hussein
- 6:38and his companions could not pledge allegiance to a tyrant
- 6:42and compromise the principles. That were passed down onto them
- 6:45from Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad.
- 6:50Peace be upon them all. Outnumbered, they were cut off
- 6:53from water in the scorching desert, with the army trying to
- 6:57force their submission. Imam Hussein, the child who sat
- 7:02on the Prophet. Muhammad's lap near 50.
- 7:04Years before was slaughtered. His.
- 7:07Family was chained and paraded through the streets to Damascus,
- 7:10where the tyrant sought to humiliate Imam Hussein and his
- 7:14family. Rather, it was the other way
- 7:16around. The beautiful words of Lady
- 7:18Zainab and Imam Hussein shook the world then and still do
- 7:21today. From us be dishonor.
- 7:24Hey, thank you. I think that that sister is
- 7:31probably of Lebanese origin in Australia because I have a lot
- 7:34of Lebanese. Because she was able to
- 7:36pronounce Kabala, I think, in the way that we usually hear it,
- 7:40not in a Western accent. So maybe you're right on that
- 7:42point. But that's beautiful to hear.
- 7:44Yeah, Beautiful, beautiful government.
- 7:45When I say about elevator pitch, that's that's elevator pitch,
- 7:48yeah. 30 seconds. Smashed it, smashed it, smashed
- 7:51it was obviously like very text heavy, like there's a lot of
- 7:54information in their short time. But she did an incredible job
- 7:56and with these kind of statements like, and I've been
- 8:00in that position where I've had to condense this kind of
- 8:03information. I've done it once at the UK
- 8:05Parliament and once at the UA, couple of times in the UN.
- 8:08And in those things you get like a minute or two minutes to
- 8:10condense information and make it powerful and deliver it well.
- 8:14And that's exactly what this elected official has done.
- 8:17So credit to her. And also there's definitely a
- 8:19team of Shia, whoever it is, who are behind her who helped her
- 8:23draft that statement or gave her a statement.
- 8:25Credit to them. This is exactly what we need to
- 8:27see more of morality, justice and concepts of of goodliness
- 8:32and godliness which are shown in kind of mainstream politics.
- 8:36It's beautiful to listen to and to watch and to witness.
- 8:39I I would say to witness this happening in a non-muslim
- 8:42environment is powerful because as this was happening, you know,
- 8:46I was thinking, well, what a shame.
- 8:49What a shame that we can't have even 30 seconds like this.
- 8:53And Sunni mosques about the Ehlund beats.
- 8:56Subhan Allahu. And you are right.
- 8:58It's very sad. Sad.
- 8:59Say that Affairs. Yeah, OK, You don't want to,
- 9:02let's say, perhaps persuade people to watch Shia Islam.
- 9:05That's not what we're asking you to do.
- 9:06But at least mention Al Muhammad.
- 9:09It's OK. Reference.
- 9:11Honestly, I think I've got an. Over this, do you?
- 9:18Know, I think I've got over this.
- 9:19Obviously it's upsetting, but at the end of the day, social media
- 9:23allows us to be able to reach these people without having to
- 9:25enter their spaces and that's the beauty of it because Islam
- 9:29is for all. All Muslims engaged with Islamic
- 9:32content online. I was in a cafe the other day
- 9:34with a couple of friends and like 2 tables behind us was a
- 9:40Shia brother. It was crazy.
- 9:42Said you would have loved mud. You were with me, right?
- 9:46No, you were there. You would we there.
- 9:48Yeah, he was there much more. So much was with me and we were
- 9:51in a cafe. We're having our coffee or
- 9:53whatever 2 tables behind us was. There was a heated polemical
- 9:59conversation happening. It was 1 Shia brother and two
- 10:03Sunni brothers and they were it was like 2 on one.
- 10:07They were both facing him, bro. He was holding it down.
- 10:10He was he. You could tell that this brother
- 10:13had done his research, was historically aware and educated,
- 10:17was bringing up hadith, was bringing up key arguments,
- 10:21theological arguments that we use and proofs.
- 10:23Not even arguments, proofs that we use.
- 10:25And ultimately, it just goes to show Hamdullah Ashoka that the
- 10:29standard of foundational knowledge for Shia in the UK is
- 10:35extremely high. As with a scholar last week who
- 10:39told me that by a mile, the found that the basic level of
- 10:45knowledge for Shia and the UK is, in his experience, higher
- 10:50than other countries. Because we can articulate our
- 10:53arguments, I'd hope better and be able to present our points in
- 10:57a more kind of like, coherent fashion.
- 11:00So I think we, like I said, the sister's done it here.
- 11:03We've got to learn how to do it. In my take away, Yeah, No.
- 11:06Sounds nice. Nice, Charlotte, we continue.
- 11:09Yeah, Ali. Next clip see.
- 11:11This is the story of a Jew and a Palestinian.
- 11:14What's up, folks? This is the Israelite Shia.
- 11:18And I'm here to tell you that Palestinians and the Israelites
- 11:21can be won in Shia Islam. I thought my story was crazy.
- 11:25This one's even crazier. Wait till you see us pray
- 11:30together. I'm not kidding, it's the best
- 11:32thing in the world. No, but for real guys, on a
- 11:34serious note. So I'm a Palestinian Shia Reaver
- 11:38and brother Andrew is a Jewish Shia.
- 11:44Reaver. You want to say it?
- 11:45Yeah, I'm an Israelite, Shia. And what else can you?
- 11:48What else do you need to know? I mean, it's like I've seen it
- 11:54all. I've been to unfortunately the
- 11:57Zionist state and I have seen where the direction is going and
- 12:02I can see the genocide that that's been taking place and it
- 12:06is just it is unfortunate that not enough Jews are speaking out
- 12:10and not enough Jews are coming home to the religion of Abraham,
- 12:14Isaac, Jacob, Ishmael, Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him and
- 12:19Alibait Brother Andrew is a Shia river as well.
- 12:24His story is amazing, very interesting.
- 12:29I think it's beautiful to see Rivas, who joined the school of
- 12:32Shia Islam, and of course, particularly those who are
- 12:36standing in solidarity with the oppressed.
- 12:38Here we have a Palestinian and we have someone of Israeli or
- 12:40Jewish background. Of course, you know, they are
- 12:42both treating it like a mature pair of adults should.
- 12:46And I don't feel like, you know, as much as a lot of us inside
- 12:52may have reservations when you hear about someone who is, who
- 12:58has come from a like a background like that, for
- 13:00example, who's said, I've been to the Zion estate and so on.
- 13:04And we may have reservations. And I've seen the Instagram
- 13:06comments on that video. It's a 5050 split.
- 13:09Half of the people are like fully supportive and half the
- 13:12people are extremely reserved to say the minimum concern and so
- 13:16on. Ultimately, if there is
- 13:18sincerity, and it seems like there is from that clip, then we
- 13:21give benefit of the doubt and we wish them all the best.
- 13:24We're an ummah. We're brothers.
- 13:26Brothers in in belief. We're mamanin.
- 13:29Our responsibility is to support one another.
- 13:31That's what we've been taught. Like the brothers said by the
- 13:33Ambiya. And a little bit.
- 13:34I'm slightly with Salaam. Yeah.
- 13:35One one thing I loved about that clip is where he referenced the
- 13:38previous prophets before us all, Allah, Allah, Alihu Ali was
- 13:41Salaam, and that was very important.
- 13:43Yeah, of course he ended it with the little beta Alihu Salaam,
- 13:47but it's nice to see. Yeah, man, I.
- 13:48Don't think I've come across someone who said he used to be,
- 13:51you know, ex Zionist Israeli as now Shia.
- 13:54That's a huge journey to take. Yeah, of course, of course.
- 13:57Yeah, it's definitely very interesting.
- 13:59And you know, inshallah there's good vibes and their sincerity
- 14:03and like I said, it sounds like there is.
- 14:05So we give them all the best luck inshallah.
- 14:09And inshallah, we also see a free Palestine.
- 14:12Inshallah. Well, the one thing is we have
- 14:15jihadists being elected all over the place.
- 14:17We have this, whether it's communism, jihadism, it's a lot
- 14:22of friend of mine called up, you said, you know, really you
- 14:25should use the word. Jihadist because that's what's
- 14:28happening and I'm not sure that anybody if you take a look at
- 14:30what happens in other. Countries, I think that's not
- 14:34going to be necessarily the way we want to live.
- 14:37Yeah, What do you think about this?
- 14:38He's obviously talking about Abdullah Al Sayed, who shout out
- 14:42to him. Abdullah Al Sayed, for those who
- 14:44don't know, has just just one the Democratic primary to become
- 14:49the Senator of Michigan. And he took down Hayley Stevens,
- 14:54who was one of the most APAC funded Democrat primary
- 15:00candidates in history of the US, who received 10 times more
- 15:03funding than him, who completely had institutional backing and
- 15:09media backing. And Dr. Abdul Rahman El Sayed
- 15:14came in and completely wiped the floor with her.
- 15:18And even the most powerful man in political terms in the world
- 15:24is personally offended by his existence and it's so funny to
- 15:29see him melt and cry and moan and complain about him on what
- 15:36feels like now and their daily basis.
- 15:38Just shout out to Abdullah saying and inshallah we see his
- 15:43victory in the the the race in November against Mike Rogers.
- 15:48And Charlo, I know it's always nice to see Muslims
- 15:50representing. The thing is, I'm going to say
- 15:56they represent Islam. I think we give them that label
- 15:58unfairly. I think they just try to be good
- 16:00politicians, good people who happen to be Muslim.
- 16:04But I, I, I do want to say something which was, I read the
- 16:08other day, this was literally 4-5 days ago that his opponent
- 16:13received in terms of marketing campaign funding from APEC 60
- 16:18million. 70. 70 Yeah I read that 6017 million U.S. dollars.
- 16:23Yeah, it's crazy. And they lost.
- 16:27And what was the first thing that Trump did when he lost
- 16:30before this clip came on? Everything.
- 16:32He went on Twitter and the first thing he wrote was Abdullah
- 16:36Sayed is an anti Jew Israeli hater.
- 16:39Crazy. As if that's what life is all
- 16:42about these days. Not American healthcare, not
- 16:45American citizens, not, you know, better education, better
- 16:50economy. But no, if Israel is unhappy,
- 16:55the US politicians are unhappy. Why?
- 16:57Yeah, look, there's two other things as well, as Trump also
- 16:59said in a quote. He said Abdullah say doesn't
- 17:03love Israel and he doesn't love Jewish people.
- 17:07Bro who cares who cares if anything is he as well has gone
- 17:11out and he said I am brothers and my my brothers and my
- 17:15sisters are Jews and Christians. And he said that we are against
- 17:18anti-Semitism as we are all out as Muslims.
- 17:21And this is a core part of our belief discrimination any shape
- 17:23or form is UN Islamic is, is is against human rights.
- 17:28And we accept that. But what I also find hilarious
- 17:32is that Trump has repeatedly talked about him not being
- 17:36representative of American values.
- 17:39So there's a post they put out on Truth Social or Trump Social,
- 17:43which is him and his wife, Melania next to him, Abdul
- 17:48Rahman say Abdul Sayed and his wife in hijab, in hijab.
- 17:51And they're like, it's a nice picture of them smiling and
- 17:54they're sitting next to each other.
- 17:55And he puts there are two Americas and he puts there's my
- 17:58America and there's his America. Basically.
- 18:00I find it hilarious just that comparison.
- 18:03And lastly, just coming back to the point, you mentioned as well
- 18:06about AIPAC running and so on. Bro, we if someone had told us
- 18:1210 years ago that in the US at one point in time in the near
- 18:18future there will be more Americans who are anti Israel
- 18:22than pro Israel, I would be shocked, surprised, right?
- 18:26But of course the system that the US employs in terms of and
- 18:32to be honest, most democracies in the West use is such where
- 18:35the views of the people aren't always represented in government
- 18:40or in parliament, right? So it's crazy man, is what it
- 18:43is. But shout out under the
- 18:44statement. He's incredible.
- 18:46He's such a powerful speaker. It reminds me of when Ram
- 18:49Mandani became the the mayor of New York.
- 18:51He was going through a similar thing where they were attacking
- 18:53the religion, attacking his beliefs and whatnot, and then
- 18:56eventually all the questions came back down to Israel.
- 18:59Yeah, yeah, yeah. Where would your first, you
- 19:02know, international visit be? He said.
- 19:05I'll stay in New York. They were shocked.
- 19:06So you're not going to go to Israel like Babo?
- 19:08Leave me alone. And what's Israel got to do with
- 19:11everything while that there is more to life than the genocidal
- 19:14state. Yeah, yeah, yeah, man, Yeah,
- 19:18bro. Focus on homelessness in your
- 19:20own area and poverty in your area.
- 19:23Next clip. What happened to you?
- 19:29I don't know the full Shia. What Shia?
- 19:31Shia. You know, Shia got Muslim,
- 19:34Muslim got Sunnah Muslim. Shia like people from Iran.
- 19:38Iraq. Where is this?
- 19:41This is the this. Is.
- 19:45I believe not the one that took place on Sunday the 9th or
- 19:50Saturday. What is this?
- 19:53Nationality. This is most of, most of them is
- 19:56from. Iraq, yes, but the AL Shia?
- 20:04No, she has, you know, Muslim got Muslim, Muslim got different
- 20:07Muslim. Like, you know what Muslim.
- 20:11Yeah, it's not only one yet, but this one is that she's doing
- 20:14something unusual. Is it dangerous?
- 20:17It was not dangerous, but they they do what they believe.
- 20:24No, they're not fighting. They they just like.
- 20:27What is this long one? It has name.
- 20:34Imagine how long it is. What are?
- 20:43They shouting? What are they shouting?
- 20:44Sometimes they they hitting. Themselves was the rifle was
- 20:47yeah, they keep hitting themselves the passenger what's
- 20:55this Palestine Iranian yeah, the the Iran Iranian Hussein is on
- 21:00look Hussein is like. Hussain Hussain is the son of
- 21:05the tutor of Muhammad Al Asalam. The Shia loves the Shia loves
- 21:13Shia loves Ali, which is the husband of the tutor of Muhammad
- 21:17Al Asalam, more than anyone, and that they loves their kids.
- 21:22And. They love their kids, he said.
- 21:26And they love their kids. I feel like, I feel like the
- 21:29taxi driver didn't initially say anything wrong.
- 21:33He said they're not dangerous. They just have their own thing.
- 21:35OK, bro, is what it isn't like, OK, bro.
- 21:38But then we start saying like, they hit themselves with Blade.
- 21:41Whoa, chill out, man. Like, you know, that might be
- 21:44said. I leave, but you know I'm
- 21:46joking. Elevator pitch.
- 21:49Oh man. There's so many things to say.
- 21:51There's not really both, of course.
- 21:53There is because firstly, I can definitely tell hand and heart
- 21:56the driver of this taxi driver probably working for Uber as a
- 22:01Muslim. Oh yeah, of course.
- 22:03By the way, he's answering. By the way, he says Azan.
- 22:07Yeah, I think he's a tourist visiting the UK who got stuck in
- 22:11traffic during the procession of the Arbine here in London,
- 22:14Central Azur Rd. And what's remarkable is that
- 22:18she's asking him what's going on and he's saying, are these are
- 22:21the people, the Shia of the Iran?
- 22:23Well, he's not even explaining it, probably.
- 22:24So what's shocking is that as a Muslim, you don't even know it
- 22:28is the arbane of Imam Al Hussein, the Muslims.
- 22:33Say it like I know you're going to say it.
- 22:35No, no, I know you're going to say they should know.
- 22:37You don't know is the grandstand of prophet.
- 22:39Yeah, Yeah, we know all that. But I'm saying is like, let's
- 22:42flip the conversation slightly. Yeah, let's talk about Julius
- 22:45and let's talk about possessions, OK?
- 22:47I didn't get to go this year. I was tied up with something
- 22:50else. You got to go and I had four
- 22:53more. I wished I was there, primarily
- 22:55because you have a gathering of more meaning and believers and
- 22:58you want to show your support. However, my personal opinion.
- 23:01And last year I went and I was talking to a friend about this,
- 23:04and one of the volunteers, there was a sister who was there, and
- 23:07then a few of them kind of gathered around me and I was
- 23:10just sharing my feedback. And they took it really
- 23:12negatively and confrontationally volunteers the procession.
- 23:16Nonetheless, they do great work. My own humble suggestion and
- 23:22opinion, my own. I speak on my own behalf.
- 23:25I feel like the processions we're doing in 2026, when the
- 23:29world is at the peak level of volatility has to evolve and it
- 23:34has to match the tone of the society you're in.
- 23:38How do you do that? It doesn't mean you stop wearing
- 23:40black. I buy a black.
- 23:41Just dash. No, you wear your black.
- 23:42Black is our cultural symbol and it's our symbol of mourning, but
- 23:46it means that you change the way you pitch what you're doing
- 23:50through a few things. For example, you put in a lot
- 23:53more funding towards things like signage.
- 23:56And I know there are English signs and people have placards
- 23:58and humanity and this and that, but messaging, framing,
- 24:01marketing, videos, graphics, all of these things need to be fully
- 24:06coordinated. They need to be in tandem.
- 24:09They need to be consistent. The messaging needs to be clear.
- 24:12The best Julius or procession we saw was in the year, I think
- 24:162016. You know, I was going to say I
- 24:20don't remember the Quran thing, but I remember there was a lot
- 24:24of there was a lot of positive media on the Marble Arch
- 24:28procession and the media and mainstream media that it was
- 24:33anti ISIS March in central London by Shia Muslims.
- 24:37Great. That's great because it shows
- 24:39that there are Muslims standing up against so-called Islamic
- 24:42terrorism. In the same way, if the framing
- 24:45of this procession was something along the lines of Anti Terror
- 24:49March or XY and Z, and it has to be framed like that, you're
- 24:53taking the lessons from Mama Hussein and you're applying
- 24:55those lessons of resistance and standing up against oppression
- 24:59and applying it to what we see today around us.
- 25:01Like, I don't know, that's just my two cents.
- 25:04You know, they do great work. Like I said, the volunteers are
- 25:06very good. Generally speaking.
- 25:08A lot of them have question marks on their back to say come
- 25:10and ask me if you don't know what's going on.
- 25:12Obviously they probably need way more volunteers.
- 25:15Like every. If you're looking at this
- 25:17procession, you should see as many volunteers, not as many,
- 25:20but you need to see like hundreds if not thousands of
- 25:23volunteers if you've got 10s of thousands of people coming.
- 25:26So yeah. So interesting opinion to have.
- 25:30Well, I think I'm half, half there with you.
- 25:33What would you disagree with you?
- 25:34Like obviously no one's saying be less hosseini.
- 25:37I'm just saying, I'm saying be more relatable, right?
- 25:41We talked last year on the podcast Imam Hussein.
- 25:43We can't be selfish with him. So a minute ago we saw two
- 25:48reavers who joined the school of their debate.
- 25:50Bro, don't deny that gift of wilaya to people who could
- 25:54potentially have joined had they read one more card or being
- 25:58given one more leaflet or watch one more video.
- 26:01Do you know what I mean? Like if we have the potential to
- 26:03do that but we're hindering that, then that's on us, bro.
- 26:05God will tell us in Yomo Kayama. Well, you are Ahmed, and there's
- 26:09this guy Martin or Michael Martin Lawrence.
- 26:13Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, there's a guy there.
- 26:18He was going to become Shia, but you didn't do what you were
- 26:21meant to do, so he never found out.
- 26:23You know, I mean, can I give you my, my take?
- 26:24Hold on. But I'll be very simple and
- 26:27quick because if we talk about this now, it's going to take it
- 26:30that way. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 26:31I say don't change anything. Stay the way you are.
- 26:35OK, black beat your chest, use the chains on your back, speak
- 26:40in your own languages. But alongside all of that, have
- 26:44everything you're recommending. Yes, you are doing something and
- 26:47leave the other. But that's what I'm saying no
- 26:49one saying be less hosseini, don't be less hosseini, just be
- 26:53more relatable make because bro it's like Karbala is not is not
- 27:01an Arab centric tradition. It feels like it.
- 27:04In many ways it is, but it's not right and the messaging is not
- 27:08messaging is for everyone. You know what's interesting
- 27:09actually, just just on this point, this I was, I was there
- 27:12in the, the Julius the Arabian procession on Sunday, the 9th of
- 27:15August. And there were people who came
- 27:18that I spoke with and they said they walked, someone walks from.
- 27:24Like Luton or something like that.
- 27:26Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And when you calculate like,
- 27:27they walked hours to get to this point.
- 27:30Yeah. And it makes you realize that.
- 27:33And sometimes I wish I'd done that from my home.
- 27:36Yeah. Because the main reason I was
- 27:38there is because I wasn't there for arba in this year in yoga,
- 27:41and I really had proper Zia or lose money.
- 27:44It was really about like, how much times I was telling you,
- 27:47Ahmed, why are we not there? But anyway, I guess there's an
- 27:50invitation that's we make the intention to be there every
- 27:53single year and shot a lot. Save much?
- 27:56Can I get on mate? Can I get on stage?
- 27:58No. Paul Chowdhury.
- 28:02Tommy follows me on on next. Maybe if you ain't got pass.
- 28:05Ain't got a pass, mate. The last minute I want to go on
- 28:07stage and say what must. Stand up mate, everyone wants to
- 28:10get I've sold. That at the O2?
- 28:11Yeah, I'll get that, mate. I've sold that Wembley, mate,
- 28:13I'll get that. These people need me, mate.
- 28:16Mate, you make phone calls, you get someone comes to the gate,
- 28:18Who should I call? I know you know.
- 28:21You know everyone, not you call whatever you need to know.
- 28:23I can't get my country back. I.
- 28:25Need to try it. I need to try it, yeah.
- 28:27And it's a try to get my country back.
- 28:28Gonna get him on stage we're. Gonna get him on stage.
- 28:30I've been cancelled by them. The right hate me.
- 28:33The left hate me. Can't get on my man.
- 28:35You're doing good. What's happening, mate?
- 28:37What are you gonna? What are you gonna mean by our
- 28:39country? Back.
- 28:41Brilliant. He's not letting me on.
- 28:43I know. I don't know.
- 28:44He thinks I'm a Shiite Muslim, don't he?
- 28:50So Nah, he's funny, man. Poor child is funny.
- 28:52He's not taking a dig at shit. I know you're going to take it
- 28:54first inside Paul Chaudhary, from what I know, sound guy like
- 29:00he, he's a Sikh comedian, mainstream, very, very famous.
- 29:04He said himself there like the size of what he's done.
- 29:07But he always advocates for integration and diversity and
- 29:11inclusion and supporting one another, multiculturalism.
- 29:15And he's generally like, left-leaning, but he's funny.
- 29:19So you can tell through his satirical tone, he's mocking it.
- 29:22He's like, oh, mate, I want to get on stage, mate.
- 29:24Make a call, mate. Time you followed you know, I
- 29:27think say I beg you, give me your the like your best EDL
- 29:30impression. Oh have you seen that clip by
- 29:34Press TV in many years bro Give. Me that give me your impression
- 29:38say. Was Lamic ray gone?
- 29:40But I can't, I'm not going to do that.
- 29:41No no no, sorry bro off mic. Off, Mic said.
- 29:46Off. Mic on it.
- 29:50Yeah, let's give me one next Cliff.
- 29:52Yellow Cliff. So you're such a coward.
- 30:15Call me an enemy. You call me an enemy, that's my
- 30:19view. Yes, we're.
- 30:22Seeing some high levels of intellect from this place.
- 30:25Real. Real.
- 30:27I'll tell you. How are you doing?
- 30:31Bye, guys. The wives.
- 30:36That's the guy we just saw in the last video.
- 30:39Who's this guy? Yeah, yeah, yeah, immediate.
- 30:47Yeah, yeah, Yeah, you are. OK.
- 30:49So context, the guy in the last video we saw, Paul Chowdhury, he
- 30:52was here on the day of the Aruba in procession in Mabaluch.
- 30:57Now 20 seconds before Paul Chowdhury comes, MO Ali Jumais,
- 31:01part of the team obviously shouted to him, is also there.
- 31:05And he was walking. Yeah, he told us off, obviously
- 31:07off camera. He was walking through Hyde Park
- 31:10to get to the procession and he got followed.
- 31:14He told me on the phone today, he goes, I got followed by this
- 31:16guy. This guy, I think his name is
- 31:19like Arrol or something like that.
- 31:21He's like, I think he's Sri Lankan or South Indian
- 31:25Christian, but he's like aggressive.
- 31:28He's confrontational. He talks about Islam being a
- 31:31cancer, Muslims desire to harm people and so on and so forth.
- 31:36Like he's not not a good guy or Ali does not engage with him and
- 31:42he walks away and the guy chases him saying you're a coward and
- 31:44this and that. And the guy says you insulted
- 31:47the prophet and more Ali said to said to him, you insult the
- 31:49prophet. I can't talk to you.
- 31:51You know, I'm not going to talk to you.
- 31:52And the guy like tries to push him down.
- 31:54And then ironically, Paul Chowdhury comes out of nowhere.
- 31:57He jumps on the thing and he uses the same tactics, uses
- 32:00satire to humiliate the guy talking to him.
- 32:04And the guy talking to him gets so frustrated, he walks away
- 32:06sick. So sometimes comedy is the best
- 32:09response in it. You know, Mama Ali says, what
- 32:11does he say? He says silence is the best
- 32:14response to a fool. I think that's what you saw
- 32:18Muhammad do. He didn't engage with him.
- 32:20He walked off. And then sometimes, you know,
- 32:23sarcasm has its place as well. Bahlul once.
- 32:26Bahlul, there you go. Yeah, yeah.
- 32:28Yeah, gotta be done, Speakers Corner.
- 32:31What next clip? My Mrs. gave me permission to
- 32:36tell the story. She made me food.
- 32:38I was eating the food she made me.
- 32:38So we're talking, having a lovely conversation.
- 32:41I mean, we're both happy. We love each other.
- 32:42Great day. She went to a place called
- 32:44Detroit Pizza and she brought it and she was like, oh, look what
- 32:46I bought you for for, for dinner.
- 32:48And I was like, oh, Detroit Pizza, I've been there.
- 32:50And she was like, you always go to places without me.
- 32:53She slaps it down, turns around, doesn't look at me.
- 32:56Stay silent for, like, a minute. I'm like, baby, all right.
- 32:58She was like, see her close to tears.
- 32:59Yeah, and close to tears. And I'm like, baby, all right.
- 33:01She was just like, no, I don't want to talk about it anymore.
- 33:03She is your food. I don't talk about it.
- 33:05And I'm like, are you? I'm like, you don't even know
- 33:07when and where? Where.
- 33:09Like when I went, I just told you, I've been there before.
- 33:11Do you mean you don't know when I went or who I was with or
- 33:13nothing like that? And then she was just like,
- 33:15like, she's sniffling. Like she's close to tears.
- 33:17Yeah, unless she stays quiet. And I'm just like.
- 33:19Bitching. Well, lying not.
- 33:20Even 10 minutes. She turns around and starts
- 33:22smiling, and she was like, oh, sorry, I was just feeling very
- 33:24hormonal and I just want to get upset.
- 33:26And I was just like, listen, first of all, you got upset.
- 33:28That and I've been to Detroit. Peace of life.
- 33:30You went today without me. Yeah, no, she brought back.
- 33:36But you still went there without me.
- 33:37Yeah, no, no, but no. But she brought back.
- 33:39Yeah, so literally it was that, you know, a lot of guys would
- 33:41witness that and be like, you're not making sense.
- 33:43I can't live with this anymore. Like all of that me.
- 33:45You have to be able to find the human things because I know it's
- 33:47not her. It's still goblins in her head.
- 33:49But. It's just.
- 33:52It's just how some women are and I love it, bro.
- 33:54I absolutely, because I cheer like a game.
- 33:56Yeah, I know what he's saying. I'm scared to answer this, bro.
- 34:02I might get in trouble. Go easy.
- 34:04Like honestly, this is advice to brothers at home.
- 34:07Yeah, sometimes when you're put in this position where you know,
- 34:11of course, your your wife is may maybe perhaps not her usual
- 34:15self. You know, like he's saying in
- 34:18that video, basically, it's OK, the best thing we can do is just
- 34:22take a breather. Like it's good where he said the
- 34:24good example. He goes, I didn't like he goes,
- 34:27I stepped back and I took a break. 10 minutes later she came
- 34:30back to him. Sometimes you just got to do
- 34:32that as a guy and even as a go in it like don't lose your
- 34:34temper, stay cool, give your spouse the benefit of the doubt.
- 34:38These things happen in marriage. Do you know what I mean?
- 34:41There's a million. We haven't done a marriage
- 34:43podcast in a while. The thing is, if we change, I
- 34:47don't think why he said it was abnormal.
- 34:49I think it's something that can happen at any point in your
- 34:51marriage, whether it was daily, weekly, monthly or yearly,
- 34:54whatever. Yeah, but change the pizza
- 34:56scenario to something else. What change it to?
- 35:02Anything I could I crying. The only reason why I got a
- 35:04smile because I'm trying to think these are the little
- 35:06argument of a pizza. It was just just a bit funny.
- 35:09But in reality is that I think as a guy, when it comes to
- 35:13anything, when you're speaking to, it's not just your wife,
- 35:16man, your daughters, your sister, whoever, maybe your.
- 35:19Mother. Your mother as well.
- 35:21Do you have to speak in a specific tone, man, You know,
- 35:23it's not like you're talking to your boy or your brother.
- 35:25Yeah. You're.
- 35:26Right. Or you know.
- 35:27No, I said. Mushtaba behind the scenes.
- 35:29No, I mean me myself to. Speak.
- 35:32Yeah, I I'm still. Hot on how it's.
- 35:34Hard, yeah, it's hard as well like I think, but I think we all
- 35:38need to learn that. I myself, I'm still learning it
- 35:40and I think ultimately you it's, it's a sign of masculinity when
- 35:45you can show softness and affection to the women of your
- 35:48household, your mother, your sisters, your daughters, and of
- 35:52course your spouse as well. Who's closest with you on that
- 35:55journey. Showing love to them, compassion
- 35:58to their, mercy to them. Hard at times, especially when
- 36:01you feel like as a man, maybe you've got the short straw or
- 36:06you've been treated unfairly. There'll be moments where they
- 36:08feel like that as well. The best thing either the
- 36:11husband or the wife can do is have Sabah.
- 36:14Be forgiving, be merciful, remember the good things.
- 36:17Remember that it will pass as well.
- 36:21A lot of the time in marriage, like you might have small
- 36:24moments of tension, like literally in a conversation.
- 36:28And then if you don't let it escalate further, it will blow
- 36:31over and you will think about it and you'll be like, I should
- 36:34have dealt with that. I did this 2-3 days ago but
- 36:37honestly I was driving with my wife and like I replied
- 36:43sarcastically to something she said because I was irritated
- 36:47about something else in my mind so I was because I was on edge
- 36:50already. I lost my my like not my
- 36:53composure but I kind of like wasn't 100% myself and I said
- 36:56something a bit sarcastically and not in the best tone and she
- 37:02didn't appreciate it and I fully get it and credit to her she
- 37:05could have reacted a lot worse. I would have if I was in her
- 37:07shoes, but I think we both kind of didn't let it escalate and
- 37:11Hamdullah, things worked out. But this, that's what marriage
- 37:13is. And I think when you grow into
- 37:15marriage, you learn these things.
- 37:16Isn't it so? No, it's very true.
- 37:18The you know, you sometimes you come across people who are in
- 37:23the first beginning days of Zawaj like you usually got
- 37:26married first few weeks, maybe a month or two.
- 37:30And sometimes they, you know, they have a question like, I
- 37:33don't think I'm married the right person.
- 37:35It's. Hard as well, man, because yeah,
- 37:36it's. I think there's no training
- 37:38prior to getting married on how to solve problems like problem
- 37:42solving. Yeah, yeah, I think is the key
- 37:44to you're. Living with a whole nother human
- 37:46being, bro. Like there's people imagine,
- 37:48like, imagine you've not been in a relationship.
- 37:51Yeah, some people have not even got siblings.
- 37:53So for example, your only child, you get married, suddenly the
- 37:56only two people you've ever lived with who are 30 years
- 37:59older than you aren't there anymore and you're living with
- 38:02someone else your age. So you're meant to like share,
- 38:05share a house with share like your all your stuff with pay
- 38:10bills together. This like, yo, OK, fine, you're
- 38:13trying to build a relationship. It's hard man, but that's why it
- 38:16completes half of your deal because you're learning so much
- 38:18in it. You're learning the sub art and
- 38:20the patience and the maturity and the intelligence and all of
- 38:22these things that come with are godly things.
- 38:24You know, I really believe that marriage and how you deal with
- 38:29the affairs at home. And of course not everything is
- 38:32discussed outside the four walls in your house, but the way you
- 38:35deal your dealings with your spouse shows who you truly are.
- 38:40Because how brother, there's been so much times like we hear
- 38:43these mad stories, Ahmed, like we know there's this brother,
- 38:46for example, he's he's the first in line and Juma or he's the
- 38:51best Hadam out there in the world.
- 38:53And of course he is. And of course it's Salah's on
- 38:56point. It's a halacha's on point.
- 38:58But then at home, he's like a monster.
- 39:00He's a monster. Maybe not just to his wife, to
- 39:02his children as well. Like, we hear stories like this
- 39:05and it's sad. It's sad.
- 39:07I don't think this is something they do intentionally.
- 39:10I just think they some people just see marriage very
- 39:13differently. They don't see it as coexisting.
- 39:16It's a partnership. It's a lifetime commitment.
- 39:19We say in Arabic, Sharika, tell Hayat your lifetime partner and
- 39:26as partners for a lifetime, Charlotte, what you do, you
- 39:29learn bad to live with each other.
- 39:31You learn to forgive their flaws.
- 39:33You show Moet there, you show Rahmer, you show mercy.
- 39:40Is that? Is that what I think?
- 39:41And forgiveness. You have to be easy.
- 39:43You can't. And imagine, imagine you get
- 39:45married and something annoys you, OK.
- 39:50And then something else annoys you, then something else annoys
- 39:52you. Your alternative as well.
- 39:54OK, for me to reach peace, I'm going to get divorced.
- 39:57There's people who think like that.
- 39:59They say if I get married then I don't.
- 40:00Yeah, it's a result of the society we live in.
- 40:03But no, it's a very beautiful family is to.
- 40:07Persevere and obviously if it ever steps out of hand and take
- 40:11action and speak to the right people.
- 40:13But yeah, should crack on. Is there any more clips?
- 40:15Are we finished? We'll do one more clip and then
- 40:18I've got a question for you. Oh, no.
- 40:20So if you're watching and listening until now, do not
- 40:23leave this episode. I've.
- 40:24Been a hijabi for a month and. What on earth?
- 40:27Strangers would come up to me, cashier's, waitresses, people
- 40:29would always tell me that I was so beautiful.
- 40:31And since putting on the hijab, everything's become quiet.
- 40:34I don't want to see this girl get any hate on WhatsApp because
- 40:36what she described is what a lot of girls experience when they
- 40:39put the hijab on and realize that they don't get as much
- 40:40attention anymore. And to miss that is completely
- 40:43100% normal and fine. Because are we not told that
- 40:46perhaps we like something that is bad for us?
- 40:47And the fact that our NAFS is one of our biggest trials in
- 40:50this dunya is meant to be hard. And of course, we to crave that
- 40:53because that's what we were used to.
- 40:54That's also what the West has accustomed us to wanting as
- 40:57women, there is so much emphasis and value put on our appearance
- 41:00that when we don't get that external validation, it really
- 41:03just takes some time to adjust. And it's one of the hardest
- 41:05things about wearing the hijab. And I know a lot of people will
- 41:07be like, you're not. I have a lot of thoughts on
- 41:11this. It's hard because these are
- 41:13these, this is one of those conversations which you need to
- 41:15think about, maybe watch two or three times to understand
- 41:18properly. The first thing that would come
- 41:20to my mind is of course, as men, we will never fully understand
- 41:25the, the, the journey of hijab and we can only respect and
- 41:29admire the sisters who wear hijab and those sisters who wear
- 41:35perfectly, you know, those are shining examples in our
- 41:38communities. The second thing I'd say is I
- 41:41once heard, in fact, I heard about a month ago, a Sheikh
- 41:46mentioned to me and a sister mentioned to me separate on
- 41:49separate occasions. Both of them said the same
- 41:51thing. They both said that the best way
- 41:54to teach hijab to your daughters is to teach them the the
- 41:59principle and the concept of modesty before you teach them
- 42:02about the physical veil. And then by understanding
- 42:05modesty, wearing the hijab becomes easy for them.
- 42:09This is not something you or I have personally experienced.
- 42:12And one day this will be something perhaps I will
- 42:14experience. And of course, you're in the
- 42:16process of experiencing yourself as a father, but I feel like for
- 42:21the sisters who aspire to wear hijab, may Allah bless you and
- 42:24reward you. Allah says Mahani Quran, good
- 42:27people are for good people, bad people are for bad people.
- 42:29And if you are on that process and part of your journey of you
- 42:33know, the adult life is to aspire to wear hijab and to
- 42:36settle down and get married. And Allah will assign you to
- 42:39someone who is equally as determined as you are to find
- 42:43your place in faith. However, understanding the hijab
- 42:48and understanding modesty, harira and haya and all of these
- 42:52things are essential. It's like reading the parrot,
- 42:59reading the Quran like a parrot, praying Salah like a robot.
- 43:02These things are ritualistic and they are tangible, visible,
- 43:07symbolic rituals that we perform.
- 43:10If there's no heart or understanding or matter of those
- 43:12actions, then it becomes to some degree futile.
- 43:15Doesn't mean it's pointless, but there's to some degree like an
- 43:19element of like a why am I doing this or how sustainable is it
- 43:22for me long term? That's my thought.
- 43:25Yeah, lost a beautiful thought, man.
- 43:27And I can't recall exactly what the sister first said at the
- 43:31beginning. She.
- 43:33Says she doesn't get. Things that people are not
- 43:35giving her attention. People people don't comment that
- 43:38she's beautiful in public like they used to.
- 43:40First of all, that's the whole point of hijab outside of Yanan
- 43:44Muharram's, your father, your husband, your brother, your
- 43:47uncle, your son. Yeah.
- 43:51Any, any, anyone Beyond that, commenting on your beauty is a
- 43:54bit problematic. You said hijab is a journey.
- 43:58It is for many. But I think we also need to
- 44:00understand it's not just a journey.
- 44:02It's a command from a loss. Of course.
- 44:04Yeah, of course. And.
- 44:05And. And I think this is where it
- 44:06becomes difficult with people because the more we see it as a
- 44:09journey, which it is in many ways, the more we feel like when
- 44:13I'm ready and I want to do it this way, it's my personal
- 44:17connection with of course, everyone's faith and belief and
- 44:20anything that happens behind close doors between you and
- 44:22Allah. Baltimore is a command, just
- 44:25like Salah's command. Fasting is a command, Zakat is a
- 44:28command, Hajj is a command. Hijab is one of those commands
- 44:30by Allah. But the whole purpose behind
- 44:34hijab, if there was any advice I can give, because I have a grown
- 44:37daughter as well was recently born, the hijab as well is that
- 44:41it's more than just the physical appearance.
- 44:44It's the higher. It's the conversations you have
- 44:48when you're alone. It's the conversations you have
- 44:51if you enter a presence with other males will not come to
- 44:54you. And it's not just the presence,
- 44:56it's how you talk, how you walk, how you not just how you dress,
- 45:00how you, the tone of voice that you use.
- 45:03Yeah, how, how you wear. There's 101 million things when
- 45:08it comes to hijab. Sadly, we've limited it to only
- 45:10just the headscarf. Yeah, yeah.
- 45:12That's more than and and and of those types of 1.
- 45:14Thing. Well, in many ways.
- 45:15Yeah, I was going to say, of those 101 things, probably 100
- 45:18of them apply to males. Yeah.
- 45:20The only thing that doesn't is the headscarf, the physical,
- 45:22everything else the same. How you carry yourself, how you
- 45:24speak, how you are with the non Maharam.
- 45:26And ironically, our as men, our challenges are harder in some
- 45:32areas and in some areas are easier.
- 45:35And we see this scenario called an alas, Pantala says himself
- 45:38that the, the challenge of the men is to lower their gaze.
- 45:41And the challenge of the women is to cover their hair and of
- 45:44course their neck area and so on.
- 45:46So these are the things which, you know, we, we have to think
- 45:48about. Was that the last clip?
- 45:50Cool. OK, guys, the last few minutes
- 45:53of the podcast said Ali. And I just want to reflect on a
- 45:56couple of things, the journey we've been on in Season 5.
- 46:01And then we will wrap up and shut Allah.
- 46:03But if we can have your attention for like maybe 5-7
- 46:06minutes, we'll try and keep it quick.
- 46:08Firstly, for myself, I just want to thank everyone at home for
- 46:12tuning in with us for the last, I don't know how many episodes
- 46:15in this season. It's been a journey, it's been
- 46:18fun. We started this season in our
- 46:20new studio, in our new home, which you guys have helped us
- 46:23bring to life. And it'll handle.
- 46:24It's more than a studio to us now.
- 46:27As I said, it's a home and it's your home, so you know this is
- 46:31where we are growing together and we're so honoured to be with
- 46:34you. Thank you for all the comments,
- 46:36the feedback, the suggestions, the ideas, the constructive
- 46:39criticism. All of these have made the
- 46:41podcast what it is from myself. I also again for another
- 46:45incredible season, want to thank the team behind the scenes who
- 46:49work so hard, especially Save Mustaba, Sister Mariam and the
- 46:54other core members of the team, Brother Haider, brother Jawad
- 46:58frames, the frames and some of the other members of the team
- 47:03who have worked incredibly hard to put kind of a lot of it
- 47:08together, brother, Brother Muhammad Zahidi, sister Nora, a
- 47:11lot of the team who have worked on different things.
- 47:13Finally said Ali, my beloved, thank you to you.
- 47:17You are the heart and soul of After Maghrib.
- 47:21I really mean it. You are the grandson of the Holy
- 47:23Prophet, and you carry Noor with you everywhere you go.
- 47:29And I love your dress code. I love your striped shirt.
- 47:34I don't know what I'd do without you.
- 47:36And I also want to shout out Hossein and Kazim because
- 47:39they've done a few episodes on this season as well, and they
- 47:42are real, jeez. And we love them.
- 47:44We can't wait to see them soon. That's that from me.
- 47:47Wow, wow, very kind of you Ahmed.
- 47:50God bless all sense and I just want to chat for me.
- 47:52First of all, say the same back to you.
- 47:53God bless. And I echo everything you said
- 47:56at the beginning in terms of the viewers as listeners, the
- 47:58support we've got, the volunteers behind the scenes,
- 48:02It's all been amazing. It's the whole collective work
- 48:05of it to bring out these episodes, to have these
- 48:07conversations and to prepare other shows and have events and
- 48:11Inshallah in many ways inspire people towards adhering to the
- 48:14teachings of Rasul Allah and bringing people towards Shia
- 48:19Islam. The method of this is all things
- 48:21that I'm grateful for and to be a part of Wallah.
- 48:25And the other day I was, I mentioned to you, I met a lot of
- 48:28both men in just last week where I had the human level
- 48:33interaction with them. And they were discussing of how
- 48:36after Maghrib has really been a part of their journey, whether
- 48:40it's coming towards accepting Shia Islam, which was very
- 48:44humbling. Where where one brother, so I
- 48:47won't mention his name because he said his parents still don't
- 48:49know. But this brother said, oh, this
- 48:52brother was from Birmingham. He came from Birmingham and he
- 48:54came to London to attend the Toulouse on Sunday the 9th of
- 48:59August. And he said he's recently been
- 49:03looking into Shia Islam recently been over many months and he had
- 49:08a lot of questions and he didn't know who to ask.
- 49:13You know, his parents are not really pro Shia and stuff like
- 49:16that. But one of the means he used to
- 49:20accept Shia Islam and to take the willai of Amir Al Mahmani
- 49:24and Ali Ali Ali Salaam was the aftermath of podcast.
- 49:29I didn't understand what that meant because the conversation
- 49:31was like 4-5 minutes. I wish I knew more and I wish he
- 49:36shared more. But he did say aftermath of pray
- 49:39that he played a huge role to him accepting the slum being the
- 49:43method. And it's beautiful when you hear
- 49:45these stories. There was another, another
- 49:48mother came to me, Ahmed, And first of all, of course, what
- 49:52everyone does and we're grateful to it.
- 49:53They say thank you for the work that you do and everything I
- 49:58said, you know, we're grateful, Chakrin, we can continue with
- 50:01your, to ours and with your support.
- 50:02And she said something that I still think about today.
- 50:04She said, I have two daughters and both of them are of adult
- 50:09age, late teens, approaching early 20 years old.
- 50:13But they don't have a father figure out.
- 50:15They don't have a spiritual guide.
- 50:16They don't have like a leader or anyone.
- 50:18So it's just a mother and her two daughters.
- 50:20And she said she's always prayed for many years.
- 50:24They gave me a tear when she said she's prayed for many
- 50:26years. But her daughters find Hedaya
- 50:29because she thought they were lost wherever she spoke to them
- 50:32about a they didn't care. They didn't care about the
- 50:34religion. They didn't care about, you
- 50:36know, sticking to halal. They were far away from anything
- 50:41got to do with Islam, for example.
- 50:42But she was one day I told them I send them like a link on the
- 50:47group chat and the family group chat of Off the Motor podcast.
- 50:50And ever since they've been listening in every single week.
- 50:53And now they've come towards the slum bro, like they've become
- 50:56proper. Practically bless them.
- 50:58Menards bro that touched. Yeah.
- 51:01Really touched me. God bless them and my Allah
- 51:04protect them, preserve them, protect them and Charlotte their
- 51:07mother. Allow them to have offsprings of
- 51:09Mummani and Almanata Charlotte. If they're listening right now.
- 51:12Well, God bless. You, God bless you guys man,
- 51:14your mum as well, your whole family.
- 51:16Reach out to us dear Mas, please.
- 51:18We'd want to learn from you as well, because A.
- 51:21Lot of people. Ask suggestions.
- 51:23Why do you do what you do? Every year I said we're getting
- 51:26older. My birthday is in two days, you
- 51:27know that. I should not right I?
- 51:29Should have known that, but technically my birthday is in 24
- 51:32hours. Anyway, Long story short, we're
- 51:35getting older every year. So as we get older, we're less
- 51:38and less relatable to a younger audience.
- 51:40Do you know what I mean? I, I recognize that there are
- 51:42those who have been on the journey with us.
- 51:44So there were people who started listening to the podcast when
- 51:46they're 1415. Now they're like in university,
- 51:50some started when they're a bit older and now graduated or
- 51:52parents or fathers or married or mothers or whatever.
- 51:56So as it's been a journey for us, it's been a journey for a
- 51:58lot of people at home. So yeah, it's.
- 52:00A collective journey. And next year, I mean, next
- 52:02season or not next year, hopefully sooner than that.
- 52:05A couple of updates from us guys on aftermarket.
- 52:08Firstly, we're going to come back on Season 6.
- 52:10We want to make the set look gangster shot Allah really nice.
- 52:14So your suggestions, please, even furniture or artwork or
- 52:18props or tables or anything like that you'd want to see, please
- 52:22send us links. Please, please send us links.
- 52:25Because some people in the team, especially myself, have really
- 52:29bad taste in furniture. So we'd want to know how to make
- 52:32it, make it look better. Remember that table.
- 52:34Secondly, guys, terms of topics, guests, speakers, suggestions,
- 52:39all of that, Keep it coming. We've done 180 something
- 52:41podcasts. We're running out of ideas.
- 52:44I say we are, but then we've got, you know, a whole catalog
- 52:47of ideas we haven't done, but still we want to know what you
- 52:50guys want to hear on the podcast, especially now that
- 52:53we've finished the Muharram season.
- 52:54So we've got more that we want to do.
- 52:56So let us know. And lastly, in terms of other
- 52:59things, exciting things to keep an eye out for returning shows,
- 53:03maybe no further hints on that, but maybe some shows coming back
- 53:07after Muharram and maybe even the launch of some new
- 53:10production as well, which is very exciting.
- 53:13And merchandise go on the pod, go on the website, get some
- 53:18merch, support the the the progress, be part of it, said
- 53:22anything to wrap up. Yeah, I've got a question for
- 53:25you and then we can wrap up. Yeah, yeah.
- 53:28Say much Taba. Why are you?
- 53:31Sure, I would love to ask that question, but I already lost.
- 53:34I already watched some box in every single season and I think
- 53:38today's question. Oh, I'm I'm leaning forward now.
- 53:43I'm worried. No, I'm joking and I I this
- 53:49question is probably mad, probably thinking why is rather
- 53:55be asking me this. But what if I told you this is
- 54:04my final episode? The aftermath.
- 54:10Every year you do. Every season he does this.
- 54:16Every season, every season. Say that Ali's like Ahmed.
- 54:22Ahmed, I have something really important to tell you.
- 54:24I'm never coming back. What would you do if I don't
- 54:27come back? Whoa, You want the attention?
- 54:29Won't let you have my attention. I love you.
- 54:31You just told me, you know, what's the guys you know before
- 54:34we start filming this. So Ali told me he's like, I love
- 54:37hearing these stories about the podcast.
- 54:40It makes me realize how much I love it and how much I want to
- 54:43keep doing it. I I knew it.
- 54:45I knew you were going to say it to me.
- 54:48What would you say if it was my last episode?
- 54:50No. But that was leading to my
- 54:51actual question, sorry. So that wasn't your question.
- 54:53No, no, no. OK.
- 54:54You just sort of wind me up. I'm winding you up, but the
- 54:56question is in 10 years time in Sharla you've.
- 55:01Charla. Sharla was still somehow
- 55:02involved with after but in 10 years time.
- 55:07What would you say to yourself today?
- 55:10What depends what my what I look like in 10 years, right?
- 55:12Know how you look bro? No.
- 55:14No, bro. In 10 years time.
- 55:16But. What would you tell yourself?
- 55:18How would I know? It all depends on where I am in
- 55:2010 years, right? Yeah.
- 55:22So I know what I would tell myself 10 years ago.
- 55:25OK, let's say God forbid you're. Based on what happens in those.
- 55:29Let's say, God forbid, you're in a bad place.
- 55:33I would but say that's the premise of the question of the
- 55:36states, Say let me just let me no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 55:39It doesn't make. Sense to avoid it?
- 55:40No, no. It doesn't make sense.
- 55:42If you asked me what would I tell myself 10 years ago, Yeah,
- 55:45with context of what happened in the last 10 years, I'd be able
- 55:48to tell yourself, do this differently.
- 55:49Do this. I need to imagine.
- 55:51Because how you answer it with imagine the way you see yourself
- 55:53in 10 years. What would I tell myself?
- 55:55I'd remind myself of the core principles I believe at this
- 55:58point in time are correct. Which is very simple to say, I
- 56:00can say that. So what, what else could I say?
- 56:02I can't say. Make sure you don't buy this
- 56:04house in four years. Do you know what I mean?
- 56:06I can't I don't know, just to understand my point, right.
- 56:10So all I can tell myself, all I can ask 40 year old myself to
- 56:14ask 30 year old myself is just do your best in it.
- 56:18Like am I am I, am I like tweaking?
- 56:22No, it's. A simple question, but you've
- 56:23overcomplicated. Just ask it again, what would
- 56:26the 40 year old myself tell myself?
- 56:28Tell the 30 year old myself. Sharla, long life, yeah, Sharla,
- 56:31God willing, a good, healthy long life, one that's spent in
- 56:36headman and obedience to Allah and service to Imam and Hussein.
- 56:40And every footstep is towards the Powaf of the Kaaba, towards
- 56:44the shrine of Imam and all of this and Sharla.
- 56:47OK, but in 10 years time, what would you tell yourself 10 years
- 56:52ago switches today? That entirely depends on what
- 56:58happens in the next two years. Do you understand?
- 57:01So for example, let me give you an example.
- 57:03Yeah, hold on. If, if I'm starting my GCS ES,
- 57:08if hold on, hold on. If I'm starting my my GCS ES now
- 57:13and then I fail it and then you say what would you tell yourself
- 57:16before the exams? I'd say bro study harder on this
- 57:20topic. You should have known that
- 57:21studied. Do you get me?
- 57:22Because I know with context what happened.
- 57:24Are you? Happy with what you're doing
- 57:28now? Do you think you'll be happy?
- 57:31With it, I'll tell you, if you're asking like, where do I
- 57:33want my next 10 years to go? That's not what I'm asking.
- 57:36See, if you asked me what would I tell myself 10 years ago, I
- 57:39can answer that. So I say focus more on this, do
- 57:43less of that, do more of this. So I'll simplify it.
- 57:45Yeah, OK, let's say. Let me.
- 57:46Ask you what would the 50 years, 10 years?
- 57:48Hang on, in 10 years you are the same.
- 57:51OK, nothing. I'd be disappointed.
- 57:54Yeah. So what would you tell yourself
- 57:55then? If, if what would I tell myself?
- 57:58Today that's. I'd I'd if I'm the same, I'd say
- 58:02the same thing now that I would in 10 years time.
- 58:04Which is what? Which is your disappointment?
- 58:07Why? Because if I have not progressed
- 58:08or grown in 10 years, then I'm slacking.
- 58:11What's progress to you? What's growing up to you?
- 58:16What does slacking mean? Progress is holistic.
- 58:21So that means spiritually, emotionally, intellectually,
- 58:27physically, all of these things have got to improve.
- 58:30Yeah, yeah. And slacking is not performing
- 58:39in every facet of life to the best of my abilities.
- 58:42So that means working as hard as I can, making as much money as I
- 58:45can close, getting closer to God in in my relationship with him,
- 58:51with the Holy Quran, with stories of the other debate,
- 58:53preparing for the Holy Imam, all of these things.
- 58:56Ultimately just raising my kids. So if I can raise my kids well,
- 59:01I'm happy gets, you know, you get to a stage in life,
- 59:04especially when you start having growing children, I think, where
- 59:07you realize that everything around you is nonsense.
- 59:10The only thing that you'll leave behind after you most likely is
- 59:13your children, Sharla, they outlive you.
- 59:16But that's the most important thing, so.
- 59:18That is a beautiful reflection of.
- 59:21It, yeah, but you longed out. I didn't know that.
- 59:22You don't know if. I said to you, yes, 2026, what
- 59:27would you tell 2016 version of yours?
- 59:28That would be very easy. Exactly.
- 59:30Yeah, I can't say to you what would you tell yourself in 2036?
- 59:35Do you get me? No, you can.
- 59:37But how you don't know what guys, please back me up in the
- 59:40comments. I don't know.
- 59:41But this is like when I said what did I say?
- 59:43I said that statement like what hill would you die on or
- 59:45something My. God, that's why I said.
- 59:49Oh, this guy, man. Yellow guys, as always, it's
