- 2:34Dayna Roselli: Here.
- 2:35Dayna Roselli: Getting ready for the holidays.
- 2:36Dayna Roselli: Isn't that what we do?
- 2:37Sean McAllister: Yeah, you fall la la laing, warming up the pipes for all those Christmas carols.
- 2:42Dayna Roselli: Oh boy.
- 2:43Dayna Roselli: I don't know if I'm ready for the holiday season.
- 2:44Dayna Roselli: But the good thing is we had that long summer, so it feels like the holiday season's going to be a little shorter.
- 2:51Dayna Roselli: Because it's like we're just kind of now getting chilly where we're enjoying it.
- 2:55Dayna Roselli: That is true.
- 2:56Dayna Roselli: Okay, we're mid-November.
- 2:57Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 2:58Dayna Roselli: We've got a month and a half of holiday stuff.
- 3:00Dayna Roselli: That's not bad.
- 3:00Dayna Roselli: I felt like last year, holiday stuff just, I don't even know.
- 3:04Dayna Roselli: It just felt like it went on for months and months and months or started super early.
- 3:09Sean McAllister: Well, it started in September.
- 3:10Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 3:10Sean McAllister: It started before Halloween.
- 3:12Dayna Roselli: And I wonder if people were more focused on the election this year that just kind of pushed things off.
- 3:16Dayna Roselli: Yeah, probably.
- 3:16Dayna Roselli: I bet that.
- 3:17Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 3:17Dayna Roselli: So maybe we need an election year every year.
- 3:20Sean McAllister: No, God, please no.
- 3:22Dayna Roselli: Well, we guess we have elections every year, but you know, big ones, big, big, big main ones.
- 3:26Dayna Roselli: Yeah, please no.
- 3:27Dayna Roselli: Um, hey, listen, I want to get right to um the show, but I wanted to bring something up that we were just chatting about, and it was a comment on our YouTube.
- 3:35Dayna Roselli: We revisited our interview with Buddy Velastro in our latest TV episode, and someone commented about the cake slice vending machines, saying that they get a bad rap and that they're not good and that they're cold.
- 3:49Dayna Roselli: And I was like, well, interestingly enough, we have actually talked to Buddy about this before when we took a cake class with him.
- 3:57Dayna Roselli: We didn't put that part of the story in the story that we just ran, but we're like, no, we did a whole thing on this.
- 4:03Dayna Roselli: So he told us, Sean, you go ahead because I know you talked a little bit more one-on-one with him.
- 4:09Sean McAllister: Well, so basically the whole deal with these uh Carlos Bakery cake ATMs is Buddy not only, you know, bakes the cakes that go inside of them, but he developed all the technology for these uh vending machines.
- 4:24Sean McAllister: They're the machines themselves are uh refrigerated to keep the slices cold.
- 4:30Sean McAllister: But the slices, when they come out of the factory, they're like laser cut.
- 4:35Sean McAllister: The cakes are laser cut.
- 4:36Sean McAllister: So the uh the each uh slice is a precision, right?
- 4:41Sean McAllister: They're all the same size.
- 4:42Sean McAllister: And then they're flash frozen using this like nitrogen uh process that just instantly freezes them so that they can then be you know packaged and put into these vending machines.
- 4:55Sean McAllister: The the controversy comes in with people across social media platforms saying that when you get the slice out of the cake ATM, it just it doesn't taste right.
- 5:06Dayna Roselli: It's not good, this and that.
- 5:08Dayna Roselli: And we have a lot of these ATMs in Oh, they're all over ATM.
- 5:12Dayna Roselli: Is that what it calls?
- 5:12Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it's a cake ATM.
- 5:14Dayna Roselli: Yeah, vending machine ATM.
- 5:15Dayna Roselli: Um yeah, they're saying we have them all over, so people are going, you know, well, when I've grabbed one at night, or when I've grabbed one because I felt like I wanted a piece of cake, it wasn't good.
- 5:25Sean McAllister: Well, and that's because you probably aren't following the instructions on the machine.
- 5:32Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 5:32Dayna Roselli: The machine, or I think it might also be on the cake.
- 5:36Dayna Roselli: We're looking for a picture of the packaging to see if it was on there um on the back.
- 5:39Dayna Roselli: It's not right on the front.
- 5:40Dayna Roselli: But we have noticed, so we went around and we looked, and because we didn't take note of this when we were actually standing in front of the vending machine, but um it does look like either they're starting to or most of them already had uh something right across the front that says best at room temperature.
- 5:59Sean McAllister: Right.
- 6:00Dayna Roselli: So, Buddy, when we were talking with him, he was telling us, hey, you can't just get it and then dive in.
- 6:08Dayna Roselli: It tastes come how it's supposed to taste when you let it sit for about a half hour.
- 6:13Sean McAllister: Yeah, so and take a listen.
- 6:15Sean McAllister: We had a conversation with Buddy in his bakery over at the Venetian, and he explained why you need to let the cake sit out for a minute.
- 6:25SPEAKER_03: When you come up with these processes, you have to remember are they gonna eat it cold?
- 6:30SPEAKER_03: Are they gonna eat it warm?
- 6:32SPEAKER_03: Certain cakes got meant to be eaten warm.
- 6:34SPEAKER_03: Certain cakes got meant to be eaten cold.
- 6:38SPEAKER_03: So it's about educating the consumer, right?
- 6:41SPEAKER_03: It's about letting them know.
- 6:43SPEAKER_03: So again, you would think this is a whole totally different cake.
- 6:48SPEAKER_03: Same exact cake.
- 6:51SPEAKER_03: Oh wow.
- 6:53SPEAKER_03: If people if people decide to though, I get it, but it's a better eating experience.
- 6:58SPEAKER_03: It's great.
- 6:59Dayna Roselli: So before you start trashing the cake and all that, you gotta read the instructions, follow the instructions.
- 7:05Dayna Roselli: We think you'll have a better experience, and we hope that helps.
- 7:08Dayna Roselli: For anyone that sees the the cake slices and thinks, oh, I could really go for that right now.
- 7:12Dayna Roselli: You might just need to hold off a little bit.
- 7:14Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 7:15Sean McAllister: Or take it out into the Las Vegas sun.
- 7:17Sean McAllister: Yeah, let it warm up and you're good to go.
- 7:20Sean McAllister: But moral of the story, don't eat the cake cold.
- 7:24Sean McAllister: Yeah, let it warm up.
- 7:26Sean McAllister: Hey, uh, we have a new entertainment complex.
- 7:28Sean McAllister: We've talked about it here on the podcast before.
- 7:30Sean McAllister: It's called Swingers over at Mandalay Bay.
- 7:33Sean McAllister: And I know a lot of people hear the word swingers and think of something else, but we're talking mini golf.
- 7:39Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 7:39Dayna Roselli: This is actually called like the long title is Swingers Crazy Golf.
- 7:43Sean McAllister: Yes.
- 7:44Dayna Roselli: So uh get it, swingers, you swing the club.
- 7:47Dayna Roselli: Yeah, they're play on words there.
- 7:48Dayna Roselli: Um, but listen, it is open now.
- 7:50Dayna Roselli: We went to an occasion where they did the first putt on property.
- 7:54Dayna Roselli: It's a 40,000 square foot space.
- 7:57Dayna Roselli: Um, our initial thoughts when we walked in was wow, this is incredible.
- 8:03Dayna Roselli: It's incredible looking, it's different, it looks like it's a blast, and we just loved it.
- 8:09Sean McAllister: Well, and as soon as we stepped inside, I just wanted to go explore.
- 8:13Sean McAllister: Yeah, because your eyes just go in every direction from you know the golf courses to the you know, the private seating areas, the bars, the restaurant area, the arcade.
- 8:25Sean McAllister: Like there's a lot in there.
- 8:27Sean McAllister: A lot.
- 8:28Dayna Roselli: And it's just it visually is so appealing.
- 8:32Sean McAllister: It is.
- 8:33Dayna Roselli: But okay, before we get into a little bit more, why don't we uh play our story that we put together?
- 8:38Dayna Roselli: Now we actually talked to the co-CEO and co-founder, his name's Matt.
- 8:42Dayna Roselli: We interviewed him about the latest swingers location because they do have a couple in London, one in DC.
- 8:52Sean McAllister: And I think another on the way, but this is the flagship location.
- 8:55Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 8:56Dayna Roselli: All right, so here's our interview with Matt.
- 8:59SPEAKER_00: It's a really fun day or night, night out.
- 9:01SPEAKER_00: It's super accessible, it's for everyone.
- 9:04SPEAKER_00: Whatever you want to eat, drink, you can find it here.
- 9:06SPEAKER_00: Uh, the golf, even if you've never played, you'll probably get a hole in one on your first go.
- 9:10SPEAKER_00: So you walk into this 40,000 square feet of the Mandalay Bay, and you'll see a big country house surrounded by four mini golf courses, each made up of nine holes.
- 9:19SPEAKER_00: And they're covered in all sorts of tricks and jumps and obstacles and installations, which you'll look around and you'll see they're pretty wild.
- 9:26SPEAKER_00: We've got a carnival, which is our old school games arcade.
- 9:30SPEAKER_00: We've got two massive bars because we think, you know, if you drink up to the mini golf game.
- 9:34SPEAKER_00: Uh, and we've got street food, street food from Emmy Squared.
- 9:37SPEAKER_00: So it's kind of everything you need to create an adult playground and a very fun day or nighttime.
- 9:43Dayna Roselli: And you can actually drink while you're putting, right?
- 9:45SPEAKER_00: Oh, it's encouraged.
- 9:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we have caddies on the courses, and they will give you tips and tricks as you play.
- 9:50SPEAKER_00: They'll show you how to get a hole in one, like where you should be aiming for.
- 9:53SPEAKER_00: They'll also take your drink disorder and they'll bring you drinks while you play.
- 9:55SPEAKER_00: And we think it just makes you a little bit more fluid, helps your swing a little bit.
- 9:59SPEAKER_00: Um, so yeah, it's encouraged on the course for sure.
- 10:02Dayna Roselli: You can come in and not play if you want.
- 10:04Dayna Roselli: Have a drink at the bar, eat.
- 10:05SPEAKER_00: That's encouraged.
- 10:06SPEAKER_00: So you can come in, you don't need to pay a cover charge, you can walk right in, uh, enjoy Emmy Square, our bars, our carnival.
- 10:13SPEAKER_00: Uh, and then yeah, you if you want to play, you can grab uh a golf ticket at the front door, or you can buy them online on our website.
- 10:19SPEAKER_01: Vegas in Las Vegas easy now.
- 10:24Dayna Roselli: What took you so long to get to Vegas?
- 10:26SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 10:27SPEAKER_00: It's well, it's a difficult city to crack, but now we're in, we're really excited.
- 10:30SPEAKER_00: But yeah, it took a while to find the right 40,000 square foot location, but we found our home here in Mandalay Bay and couldn't be happier.
- 10:37Dayna Roselli: And what's the price point for golf?
- 10:38SPEAKER_00: I mean, I'm sure ranges like if you get around and yeah, so uh$35 for a round of golf, and that'll take you 30 to 40 minutes, and then yeah, obviously you can eat and drink before and after, spend as long as you like in the venue, uh, and then the carnival games are kind of pay as you play.
- 10:55SPEAKER_00: Kind of feels like a career highlight.
- 10:57SPEAKER_00: We're opening in Las Vegas on the script.
- 10:59SPEAKER_00: So just try and take it all in and member it because I don't think there'll be another day quite like this.
- 11:09Dayna Roselli: Why did you choose Madeleine Bay in this space?
- 11:11SPEAKER_00: Well, they kind of chose us actually, so they reached out to us.
- 11:14SPEAKER_00: We've been looking in Vegas for a while and we've been kind of zeroing in on a few spaces, and then the pandemic hit, and then right afterwards, um, Malay Bay got in touch and they said, Look, we've got this space, we think it could be perfect for you.
- 11:25SPEAKER_00: Tell us what you might do with it.
- 11:26SPEAKER_00: And that was where our partnership was born, and they've been super supportive, and they're very excited to have us here.
- 11:31SPEAKER_00: And that's but this is where we find ourselves today.
- 11:34Dayna Roselli: As a local, I must say I like that it's near the door.
- 11:37SPEAKER_00: Right, you're right by the uh parking garage, right by the Uber drop-off, so it's perfect.
- 11:42SPEAKER_00: You can get in and out.
- 11:43SPEAKER_00: Uh super easy.
- 11:44SPEAKER_00: Uh yeah, there's no excuses not to come and visit Swingers.
- 11:47Sean McAllister: Explain what happens on hole nine if you get a hole in one.
- 11:51SPEAKER_00: Okay, so on hole nine, you get to, if you get a hole in one, you get to spin the prize wheel, and that's got lots of items of free food and drink, um, cool prizes like that.
- 11:59SPEAKER_00: And if you so if you get the hole in one, you spin the wheel, and then you get the prize.
- 12:03SPEAKER_00: So it's just a little bit of extra jeopardy on hole nine uh to try and sink that final hole in one.
- 12:09Sean McAllister: How cool is that?
- 12:10Sean McAllister: So at other mini golf places, you know, you like sink your ball in the hole on hole nine, and then it just like it's the never-ending hole where it returns the ball to the to the front desk.
- 12:21Sean McAllister: I know.
- 12:21Sean McAllister: But here, if you make it in, you get to spin the wheel, get a prize, and there's a caddy at every hole to help you out or even order drinks for you.
- 12:30Dayna Roselli: I know, and it sounds like the caddy job's a fun job.
- 12:32Sean McAllister: That does sound fun.
- 12:33Dayna Roselli: I bet they have a blast.
- 12:34Dayna Roselli: The bars are beautiful there too.
- 12:36Dayna Roselli: You know, you heard them.
- 12:37Dayna Roselli: He said they encourage drinking, it helps you have fun on the course, and you know, you can just walk in and just enjoy, or or you can play around.
- 12:46Dayna Roselli: But it's for 21 and over.
- 12:48Dayna Roselli: Keep that in mind.
- 12:49Dayna Roselli: No kids.
- 12:50Dayna Roselli: Um, you have to be 21.
- 12:51Dayna Roselli: It's right near the doors at uh as soon as you come in from the parking garage at Mandalay Bay, nice and close, and they are officially open.
- 13:00Sean McAllister: And we have some uh food spots around town that are also uh either officially open or uh cutting ribbons and making uh announcements that they'll be opening.
- 13:12Sean McAllister: The first one, uh the first ones, I should say, are over at Green Valley Ranch.
- 13:18Sean McAllister: This is uh the district that's over in Henderson.
- 13:22Dayna Roselli: Yeah, right near the hotel casino.
- 13:25Dayna Roselli: Um, there's a parking lot behind the district, and in that lot, they have made uh area that now uh has two new restaurants, North Italia and Flowerchild.
- 13:35Dayna Roselli: They sit right there.
- 13:37Dayna Roselli: Uh great spots.
- 13:38Dayna Roselli: There's a North Italia and Flowerchild right near each other in an area called Book Park area out west.
- 13:45Dayna Roselli: And we've both gone to North Italia a a couple times.
- 13:49Dayna Roselli: It's been a while.
- 13:49Dayna Roselli: Flowerchild, I used to be a regular, I was there all the time.
- 13:52Dayna Roselli: Um, I don't get there as often anymore.
- 13:54Dayna Roselli: Both fantastic places, great food, and I think they know that, so they're like, hey, we need to build one near Green Valley Ranch.
- 14:00Sean McAllister: Yeah, build it over on the east side of the valley too.
- 14:03Sean McAllister: So uh North Italia and Flowerchild now open.
- 14:06Sean McAllister: By the way, North Italia has a big patio uh in addition to their indoor restaurant space, which is also pretty big, but just such a nice, light, airy feeling.
- 14:18Sean McAllister: And everything we had in there was delicious.
- 14:21Dayna Roselli: We we were able to go to the preview.
- 14:22Dayna Roselli: When I walk by Flowerchild, that has a patio too, FYI, right next door.
- 14:26Sean McAllister: Yep.
- 14:26Sean McAllister: And by the way, I just had my uh leftover um mushroom pizza slice from when we went over there, and it was so good.
- 14:35Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 14:35Dayna Roselli: Just such a good, earthy flavor, yeah, which I loved.
- 14:40Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 14:41Dayna Roselli: Um the pasta that we ordered, a lot of us ordered pasta was so fresh.
- 14:46Dayna Roselli: You could just tell that this was not, you know, poured out of the bottle.
- 14:52Dayna Roselli: It was really good.
- 14:53Dayna Roselli: Uh, we had so many fantastic.
- 14:54Dayna Roselli: What was that bread at the beginning?
- 14:55Sean McAllister: Because I know Oh my gosh, that was the garlic bread.
- 14:58Dayna Roselli: Garlic bread with truffle?
- 15:00Sean McAllister: It was truffle garlic bread with uh, I think it was a was it like a ricotta cheese or a I don't know what the cheese is.
- 15:10Dayna Roselli: Like a barata cheese.
- 15:11Dayna Roselli: I don't know.
- 15:11Sean McAllister: It was whipped and it was it was good.
- 15:13Sean McAllister: So good.
- 15:14Sean McAllister: Oh my god.
- 15:15Sean McAllister: I would have had five bowls of that.
- 15:18Dayna Roselli: We always say we're not foodies.
- 15:20Dayna Roselli: We go to a lot of restaurants, but we don't know all the lingo.
- 15:22Sean McAllister: No, but we know what it tastes good.
- 15:24Dayna Roselli: We just know when it tastes good, right?
- 15:26Dayna Roselli: Oh my gosh.
- 15:27Dayna Roselli: Um, quickly speaking of restaurants, we you know, we we did that interview at Pop's Philly Steaks, right?
- 15:34Dayna Roselli: And already I've put it on TikTok and and different things, and it's in our show, and people are chiming in.
- 15:39Dayna Roselli: That is a a popular place here in Las Vegas, and everyone has something to say and chime in, whether they like it or they don't, or they love it, or it's better in Philly, or it's better here.
- 15:49Dayna Roselli: And so um we had a you know, we had a good time going over there to try Pop's Philly steak.
- 15:54Dayna Roselli: So we liked it.
- 15:55Dayna Roselli: It was good for us.
- 15:56Dayna Roselli: Again, we aren't foodies, we thought it was super tasty.
- 16:00Sean McAllister: People are very particular, can be very particular about their cheesesteaks.
- 16:05Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 16:06Sean McAllister: I thought the ones we had were very good.
- 16:08Sean McAllister: They were freaking good.
- 16:09Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 16:10Sean McAllister: I would have those any day of the week.
- 16:12Dayna Roselli: Hey, the Hush Puppy is opening in downtown Las Vegas, and this is right in that Neanapolis complex.
- 16:18Dayna Roselli: They've been opening a lot of things over there.
- 16:19Dayna Roselli: They opened fat sales, they opened a nightclub.
- 16:22Dayna Roselli: Um, so now the Hush Puppy is coming in 2025, in early 2025.
- 16:28Dayna Roselli: I have never had the Hush Puppy because there is one on East Charleston, but you have.
- 16:34Sean McAllister: Yeah, on West Charleston.
- 16:35Dayna Roselli: Or oh, is it West Charleston?
- 16:37Dayna Roselli: Okay, I thought it was East Charleston.
- 16:38Sean McAllister: Um, and so no, I used to go over there with a group of friends, I think on it was Monday nights.
- 16:45Sean McAllister: I don't even know if they're still doing this anymore.
- 16:47Sean McAllister: They may not be, but they used to have uh all you can eat crab legs on Monday nights, and so a bunch of us would get together, and it wasn't every Monday, but probably once a month we would go and do this.
- 17:02Sean McAllister: And you get the salad bar, you get your buckets, they would just keep bringing those metal beer buckets full of crab legs, plopping them down on the table.
- 17:11Sean McAllister: You have your drawn butter, you have the basket of hush puppies in the middle of the table.
- 17:17Sean McAllister: Uh, usually somebody would order some uh some of the fried catfish, too.
- 17:23Sean McAllister: So you would have that to pick at, and it was just so good.
- 17:29Dayna Roselli: We yeah, okay, so it's on West Charleston your rainbow.
- 17:31Dayna Roselli: I see now.
- 17:32Dayna Roselli: I don't know, I thought it was on East Charleston.
- 17:33Dayna Roselli: So I like this.
- 17:34Dayna Roselli: Okay, I pass it all the time then.
- 17:36Sean McAllister: Yeah, huh?
- 17:36Dayna Roselli: I don't know why I've never seen it.
- 17:38Dayna Roselli: Interesting.
- 17:38Dayna Roselli: It's so popular, it's been here.
- 17:41Dayna Roselli: Did she say 53 years or something?
- 17:43Sean McAllister: I think so.
- 17:43Sean McAllister: Something like that.
- 17:44Sean McAllister: It's been here a long time.
- 17:46Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 17:46Sean McAllister: So a lot of people know it uh from that uh West Charleston location, but now uh that new location, they just cut the ribbon over there at Neanapolis, which is literally, I mean, their front door is just it's right on the Fremont Street experience, really.
- 18:04Sean McAllister: You don't even have to go back into the Neanapolis complex.
- 18:08Sean McAllister: Um, so I think they're gonna have some great foot traffic, they're bringing all the favorites, uh the their menu favorites they're bringing right there to downtown Las Vegas.
- 18:17Sean McAllister: So um sometime early in 2025, they're gonna open.
- 18:22Sean McAllister: I think they're shooting for around March.
- 18:24Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 18:24Sean McAllister: So um we'll keep you updated on that.
- 18:27Sean McAllister: But it's exciting the hush puppy coming to downtown Las Vegas.
- 18:31Dayna Roselli: Great foot traffic.
- 18:32Dayna Roselli: Oh, it'll do so well.
- 18:33Dayna Roselli: I tried a little of the fried fish, it was great.
- 18:36Dayna Roselli: It is they had out like at the preview, they had some and and I tried the hush puppy.
- 18:40Sean McAllister: Well, and there are a lot of people who have relocated to Las Vegas from the south.
- 18:45Sean McAllister: So this is just you know, this is the cuisine they grew up on.
- 18:49Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 18:50Dayna Roselli: It's gonna do well.
- 18:51Dayna Roselli: It was a great celebration there, too.
- 18:53Dayna Roselli: The mayor was there, you know.
- 18:54Dayna Roselli: She's she's winding down her term as mayor.
- 18:56Dayna Roselli: Oh, she's been mayor here such a long time.
- 18:58Dayna Roselli: And then before that it was Oscar Goodman, her husband.
- 19:01Dayna Roselli: So um, it was great to see her at what we think will probably be the last event that we see here her at uh as mayor of Las Vegas, unless something pops up that she's gonna be at.
- 19:12Dayna Roselli: So it was wonderful to hear her cheer them on.
- 19:15Dayna Roselli: And when I talked to her, I said, you know, you're at everything big or small.
- 19:17Dayna Roselli: And she said, it's all important.
- 19:19Dayna Roselli: This is how we make Las Vegas work.
- 19:21Dayna Roselli: Everyone, everything big, small.
- 19:24Dayna Roselli: It's it's how we function.
- 19:26Sean McAllister: That's right.
- 19:26Sean McAllister: And as as we wind down the year and she winds down her term, uh, we'll probably be uh playing some of her final comments for you here on the podcast as well.
- 19:38Dayna Roselli: She's still trying to get that I-15 widened.
- 19:40Sean McAllister: Man, is she ever?
- 19:42Dayna Roselli: All right, even though it's not her jurisdiction, she still wants it widened because she just wants people to be able to get to downtown Las Vegas.
- 19:48Dayna Roselli: Um, okay, let's talk Lisa Vanderpump.
- 19:50Dayna Roselli: Listen, so popular.
- 19:52Dayna Roselli: She just keeps expanding and expanding and expanding.
- 19:54Dayna Roselli: And now she has a new place opening called Pinkies by Lisa Vanderpump.
- 19:58Dayna Roselli: And this is going to be at the Flamingo.
- 20:00Sean McAllister: Yeah, right off of Las Vegas Boulevard.
- 20:02Sean McAllister: Uh and Pinky, by the way, did you know that Pinky is Lisa Vanderpump's nickname?
- 20:07Dayna Roselli: No, I didn't.
- 20:08Sean McAllister: That's why they named this restaurant after her.
- 20:11Dayna Roselli: Got it.
- 20:11Sean McAllister: So it's going to have some uh really great art deco designs inside.
- 20:17Sean McAllister: Uh, you know, and if you've been to any of uh Lisa Vanderpump's other establishments here in Las Vegas, one at Caesars Palace, the other at Paris, Las Vegas, it's a very whimsical design.
- 20:30Sean McAllister: The cocktails and food menus are very inventive.
- 20:35Sean McAllister: Uh, so this is going to, you know, follow suit with what we expect from a Lisa Vanderpump restaurant.
- 20:43Sean McAllister: Um and this is opening pretty soon, the first week of December.
- 20:47Dayna Roselli: And we'll be at the big VIP party.
- 20:50Dayna Roselli: We were invited, you know.
- 20:52Dayna Roselli: Um, so last time we went to the opening party for the one at Paris, a lot of the cast members of the Vanderpump show were there.
- 21:01Sean McAllister: Oh, with that, yeah, there were uh Lance Bass was there.
- 21:05Sean McAllister: Oh yeah.
- 21:05Sean McAllister: Um not on the show, but no, he's not on the show.
- 21:09Dayna Roselli: But the whole cast, all their names.
- 21:11Dayna Roselli: I don't know.
- 21:11Dayna Roselli: I brought a friend who was like obsessed with Vanderpump rules and knew everyone and was like in heaven.
- 21:16Dayna Roselli: So if you're uh a Vanderpump fan, if you were around the flamingo that week, I have a feeling you might there might be some sightings.
- 21:23Sean McAllister: There may be, yes, I have no doubt.
- 21:25Dayna Roselli: She does it right.
- 21:26Dayna Roselli: Um her places are like stunning to look at when you walk in, you know.
- 21:30Sean McAllister: Well, she's so smart.
- 21:31Sean McAllister: Yeah using her her the platform that she has, and I mean she was a restaurateur before she even was a reality star.
- 21:39Sean McAllister: So this is kind of like what she knows, what she's done for for decades.
- 21:44Sean McAllister: The reality thing just kind of boosted the profile.
- 21:48Dayna Roselli: Well, remember we said to her when we interviewed her last time, we're like, You're getting good at that, or you're you're good at this opening and expanding in Vegas.
- 21:55Dayna Roselli: She's like, Well, I better be.
- 21:56Dayna Roselli: This is what I do for a living.
- 21:58Dayna Roselli: And I was like, Oh, all right.
- 22:01Dayna Roselli: We also saw her at Keep Memory Alive when we were there recently.
- 22:04Dayna Roselli: That's right.
- 22:04Dayna Roselli: She popped by that event.
- 22:05Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 22:06Dayna Roselli: All right.
- 22:06Dayna Roselli: Well, let's talk a couple holiday things.
- 22:09Dayna Roselli: Just be on the lookout for a lot of pop-up things in Las Vegas during the holidays.
- 22:13Dayna Roselli: And a lot of our bars and restaurants do special, kind of themed, holiday-themed experiences.
- 22:20Sean McAllister: Experiences.
- 22:21Sean McAllister: That's it.
- 22:22Sean McAllister: Everyone wants a holiday experience.
- 22:25Sean McAllister: And so one of the newer experiences that we're expecting this year is over at uh Flankers Bar at Mandalay Bay.
- 22:35Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 22:35Sean McAllister: They're doing uh what they're calling their Christmas parlor.
- 22:40Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 22:40Dayna Roselli: Apparently, you'll be immersed into a vintage charm of a festive wonderland.
- 22:44Dayna Roselli: We've been invited to that opening party as well.
- 22:46Dayna Roselli: So we'll let you know what it, you know, looks like, but it sounds like it's going to be really cute, adorned with nostalgic holiday decor, Christmas trees, twinkling lights.
- 22:57Dayna Roselli: Oh, it sounds fun.
- 22:58Dayna Roselli: Um, so and then lots of different, you know, libations and and different dishes and all that kind of thing.
- 23:03Sean McAllister: And even in the uh the invitation that we received, it had like the leg lamp from a Christmas story that was on their part of their decor.
- 23:12Sean McAllister: So if that gives you an idea of what to expect, that's it.
- 23:18Sean McAllister: Um also bad elf is making a return to the Shady Grove Lounge.
- 23:22Sean McAllister: This is over at the Silverton.
- 23:24Sean McAllister: Uh, every year they remake this into the Bad Elf lounge uh with Christmas cocktails, little bites to eat.
- 23:34Sean McAllister: Um, throughout the year, they do uh some other seasonal things as well.
- 23:39Sean McAllister: Uh but Bad Elf is always so fun.
- 23:41Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and this it's open uh Thursdays through Sundays at five o'clock, and it kicks off November 21st and goes through December 29th.
- 23:49Dayna Roselli: So uh I've seen pictures, I've actually never been, and I know you've been many times.
- 23:53Dayna Roselli: It's so funny that you go to the things that have surrounded drinks, and I haven't.
- 23:59Dayna Roselli: And I go to all the other stuff.
- 24:03Sean McAllister: Well, you know, someone's got to.
- 24:05Dayna Roselli: Someone's gotta do it.
- 24:06Dayna Roselli: You've gotta taste test all the drinks.
- 24:08Sean McAllister: We divide and conquer.
- 24:09Sean McAllister: That's how I like to think about it.
- 24:11Dayna Roselli: Yes, but you always say it's fun and really, really cool.
- 24:13Sean McAllister: It is, it's so much fun, and you have to put on.
- 24:16Sean McAllister: I mean, I always put on, you know, one of my ugly Christmas sweaters to go over there and just get in the spirit.
- 24:23Sean McAllister: My sister is coming to town to stay with us the week of Christmas, so I think we're gonna have to hit a few of these places up.
- 24:28Dayna Roselli: Oh, yeah, she'd love this.
- 24:30Sean McAllister: Uh it's right up her alley.
- 24:31Sean McAllister: And speaking of alleys, there's actually a little bowling alley at uh the Shady Grove Lounge.
- 24:37Sean McAllister: They have like an airstream trailer, and when you step inside, there's a a small little bowling alley with like the wooden it'll it's almost like a bocce ball that you roll down the alley, knock down the pins.
- 24:49Sean McAllister: Yeah, it's so much fun.
- 24:50Dayna Roselli: Oh, that's it's really cute.
- 24:52Sean McAllister: It's really cute.
- 24:52Sean McAllister: And of course, they have uh the mermaids over there at the Silverton as well.
- 24:57Sean McAllister: And I believe uh in the past that they have even had a scuba diving Santa in that tank.
- 25:04Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 25:05Sean McAllister: I like the Silverton, it's unique, it's a good spot, and they have put so much into the renovations over there, too.
- 25:11Dayna Roselli: Yeah, they really have.

- 25:58Sean McAllister: Let's do some tips.
- 26:02Sean McAllister: We are starting tips this week, Dana, with a place that I have been wanting to go.
- 26:07Sean McAllister: And I actually tried to go a few weeks ago, but uh there was a private party happening.
- 26:12Dayna Roselli: Okay, sometimes they do that.
- 26:14Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and I'm talking about the uh fat cat jazz booze and blues bar in Las Vegas.
- 26:22Dayna Roselli: Um, it is cool.
- 26:23Dayna Roselli: It's over at the downtown grand, and I went to a birthday party there, so that's why I went and loved the live music, loved the bar, the ambiance.
- 26:34Dayna Roselli: Think of a jazz club, but like super hip.
- 26:37Dayna Roselli: It was cool.
- 26:38Dayna Roselli: Uh, really enjoyed it, and I think more people should know about it because, first of all, the downtown grand, even walking through there, I'm like, this is such a great little hotel.
- 26:46Dayna Roselli: It's a great spot, isn't it?
- 26:48Dayna Roselli: It really is.
- 26:49Dayna Roselli: Um, so yeah, so went there and it was great.
- 26:52Dayna Roselli: They had a band up there.
- 26:53Dayna Roselli: You know, it was busy at first for the party, and then as things started to wind down, you could tell people just enjoyed sitting at their table, chit-chatting, listening to the music, and I I loved it.
- 27:04Dayna Roselli: It did feel very like New Orleans.
- 27:06Sean McAllister: Ooh, okay.
- 27:07Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 27:07Sean McAllister: All right, I love that.
- 27:08Sean McAllister: And the reason I've been wanting to go back there is because that's the room where uh we had our wedding.
- 27:14Dayna Roselli: I remember.
- 27:15Sean McAllister: Shane and I had our wedding in there.
- 27:17Sean McAllister: And you know, it's been obviously turned into a jazz club since it was an event space at the time, but um, you know, so it holds special meaning, and so I'm excited to get back in there and listen to some jazz.
- 27:30Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it it's great.
- 27:31Dayna Roselli: It looks like um you have to pay five dollars just to get in at the door because, you know, the live music.
- 27:36Dayna Roselli: Um, but on most nights, I'm just looking at the calendar now, and it looks like they have different uh different performers and um throughout the month.
- 27:45Dayna Roselli: So so yeah, check it out.
- 27:46Dayna Roselli: Go online.
- 27:47Dayna Roselli: It is actually let me see what the website is.
- 27:51Dayna Roselli: Well, it looks like they've got a Google site.
- 27:53Dayna Roselli: Um just Google it.
- 27:55Dayna Roselli: You'll find it Fat Cat Jazz Club in the downtown grand.
- 28:00Dayna Roselli: I mean, the site is sites.google.com backslash blah blah blah.
- 28:04Dayna Roselli: I could go on and on and on.
- 28:05Dayna Roselli: It's a very long thing.
- 28:06Sean McAllister: Yeah, you can probably go to the downtown grand website too, and they'll they have the information there for you as well.
- 28:11Sean McAllister: Exactly.
- 28:12Sean McAllister: Hey, uh as a second tip this week, um, I wanted to bring this up because uh we recently did uh a spa day down on the strip.
- 28:23Sean McAllister: We went to Canyon Ranch Spa over at the Venetian.
- 28:27Sean McAllister: Um and thank goodness they had uh availability because, and this is the tip if you are planning on having a spa day, uh whether you're living in Vegas or you're coming into town, plan ahead because we you know had we tried to book with a couple days' notice, and people uh the all the spas that we uh were considering going to, um, they were booked, completely booked.
- 28:56Sean McAllister: So we're like, man, what are we gonna do?
- 28:58Sean McAllister: And then thankfully, uh Canyon Ranch, which is still a really great spa, um they had availability, so we went over there.
- 29:07Sean McAllister: But but the tip is plan ahead, book ahead.
- 29:13Sean McAllister: And that goes for anything, not just a spa.
- 29:16Sean McAllister: We've mentioned this before.
- 29:17Sean McAllister: If you have a a dinner reservation that you think you might want to go to, plan ahead.
- 29:23Sean McAllister: Get it on the books, and if you have a change of plans, then you change your plans.
- 29:28Sean McAllister: But at least it's good to have a reservation.
- 29:31Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 29:31Dayna Roselli: It's funny because I'm going out of town at the beginning of December with a friend, and we're already we have like the vaguest state of mind going where we're planning already, like reservations are booked, we know where we're going Saturday afternoon, how to get there, all that.
- 29:44Dayna Roselli: Good.
- 29:44Dayna Roselli: You got to plan ahead.
- 29:45Dayna Roselli: You do, you know.
- 29:46Dayna Roselli: Um, and then you know, leave room for go with the flow because that's always fun too.
- 29:50Dayna Roselli: But sometimes it's so disappointing when you like figure something out and you want to go there when you're in that city and it's like it's booked.
- 29:58Sean McAllister: Yes, I know, I know.
- 29:59Dayna Roselli: And for me, I'm like, I don't know anyone there.
- 30:01Dayna Roselli: Right, right.
- 30:02Sean McAllister: So you do, you want to plan ahead and have something set in stone.
- 30:05Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 30:06Dayna Roselli: I don't have Joe that can call Marsha, that can call Jan and say, hey, Roselli's coming in.
- 30:13Sean McAllister: Because Jan's always got the hookups.
- 30:16Sean McAllister: Hey, one thing I wanted to mention about uh Canyon Ranch Spa, they have one of the most relaxing spa rooms that I've ever been into.
- 30:25Sean McAllister: Yeah, you were saying that.
- 30:26Sean McAllister: It's called the wave room, and this is in like the co-ed area of the spa, and they have like those cushioned, wavy spa chairs that just like contour your whole body when you lay down, and they have this pond in the middle of the room with a camera pointed down at it, and you know, there's ripples in the water and everything, but then there's a projector that that takes that image and puts it up on the ceiling.
- 30:53Sean McAllister: So you're laying in these uh cushy spa recliners lounges, looking up at the ceiling.
- 31:02Sean McAllister: It's nice and quiet in there.
- 31:04Sean McAllister: There might have been a little bit of ambient music going on to relax you even more.
- 31:09Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 31:10Sean McAllister: But I think I fell asleep about five different times in there.
- 31:14Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 31:14Sean McAllister: It was just so soothing, so relaxing.
- 31:18Sean McAllister: And now I want to do that.
- 31:22Sean McAllister: Find some way to do that in our house.
- 31:24Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 31:25Dayna Roselli: Well, you're running out of space because you're always doing something.
- 31:28Dayna Roselli: We are running out of space.
- 31:29Dayna Roselli: We always have an idea, and I'm like, where are they gonna put this?
- 31:33Sean McAllister: We need to build an upstairs.
- 31:35Sean McAllister: Uh we're in a ranch house.
- 31:36Sean McAllister: We need a second level.
- 31:37Dayna Roselli: Yeah, you do.
- 31:38Dayna Roselli: Get to work.
- 31:39Dayna Roselli: I don't know about the HOA, they won't go for that.
- 31:41Sean McAllister: No, they won't.
- 31:43Dayna Roselli: Hey, thanks for joining us, everyone.
- 31:45Dayna Roselli: Uh, we hope you have a great week.
- 31:47Dayna Roselli: We're gonna try and focus on a little bit of Formula One stuff next week because we know people are coming in from all over the world, and we just kind of want to let you know what's going on still, what's staying open, what they've added this year, all that kind of thing next week on Vegas Revealed.
- 32:04Dayna Roselli: And uh we might drop that a little early too, by the way, because we know people are coming in for the end of the week.
- 32:09Dayna Roselli: So maybe we'll post it like Tuesday or something.
- 32:11Sean McAllister: Yeah, just so that you have enough time to digest the info and you know, plan early and get your plans set in stone.
- 32:18Sean McAllister: Uh, big thank you to our title sponsor, Level Up Law.
- 32:22Sean McAllister: Uh, as Dana mentioned earlier, there are a lot of choices when it comes to choosing a lawyer, but Level Up Law has a really experienced team in a variety of categories where you might need legal help.
- 32:36Sean McAllister: And even if you think you might have a case, or maybe you don't know if you have a case, uh, you can give Level Up a call.
- 32:44Sean McAllister: They'll give you a free consultation, steer you in the right direction.
- 32:48Sean McAllister: The number is 855 Level Up.
- 32:52unknown: Right.
- 32:52Dayna Roselli: Big thank you to Vegas near me, one of our sponsors for the audio podcast, as well.
- 32:56Dayna Roselli: They just did an update, remember, on the venue section.
- 33:00Dayna Roselli: And there's all sorts of like organized categories there.
- 33:04Dayna Roselli: This is exactly what you've probably been looking for.
- 33:07Dayna Roselli: There's a sports area, free shows, what's coming up tonight, and then you can move through the calendar.
- 33:13Dayna Roselli: Uh, they they separate out by, you know, arena like Allegiant Stadium, T-Mobile Arena, different venues.
- 33:19Dayna Roselli: It's really cool.
- 33:20Dayna Roselli: Download it, it's free.
- 33:21Dayna Roselli: You don't even have to put your email in, and you can get it on Google Play or in the Apple App Store.
- 33:26Sean McAllister: And as always, we love to hear from you directly.
- 33:31Sean McAllister: We have a link down in our show notes uh where you're able to text us.
- 33:35Sean McAllister: You just click on that link, it opens up the text window on your phone, and you can send us a message.
- 33:40Sean McAllister: Um, be sure to let us know your name if you want us to know that.
- 33:45Sean McAllister: Um, but send us your feedback, your questions, your ideas.
- 33:49Sean McAllister: We love hearing that, and we'll respond uh on our next episode.
- 33:53Dayna Roselli: Hey, listen, everyone, have a great week, and we'll talk to you next week.
