- Brandon: Well, good morning, good afternoon, good evening, and welcome once again to the Daily Word podcast. In case we haven't met, my name is Brandon, and I'm one of the pastors at our church. And again, on behalf of our senior pastors, Pastor Gillen Debbie and other pastors and leaders in our whole church family, welcome to the podcast. We're so thrilled to have you here where we're taking time every single day to simply go to the Bible. And I share with you something that God is speaking to us in hopes of encouraging, challenging, inspiring you, you walking away with something in your pocket you feel like God's speaking to you, but also as a reminder that God really does want to speak to you every single day, and a reminder for you to spend time with God, letting God talk to you. That being said, today is July. I almost said January. I don't know why. definitely not January. Today is July the twenty-sixth, and our reading today is in first Peter chapter five. And I want to read to you from verses five through verse seven. Verse five through verse seven. Here's what it says. Peter's writing, and he says, Likewise, you younger people, submit yourself to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another and be clothed with humility, for God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Therefore, humble yourself under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time, casting all of your care upon him, for he cares for you. Again, the scripture today is first Peter chapter 5, verse 5 through 7. And I want to read to you verses six and seven one more time. That is where I want to emphasize or find emphasis. It says this, therefore, humble yourself under the mighty hand of God. That he may exalt you in due time, casting all of your care upon him, for he cares for you. And my observation today is that God really does give grace to the humble, and God really does exalt those who will cast their care upon him and humble themselves under his mighty hand. what why is this important for us to know? Because something in us Wants to make things happen for ourselves. You might say, Brandon, I'm not a prideful person. I don't deal with pride or arrogance, I don't think of myself that way. And and I would say that for the most part, probably you're right. But but I've noticed in in my own life and in the life of other people that maybe I just talked to or asked you ask me for ad advice or whatever it may be, that that we have this thing in us that tries to make it happen for ourselves. I gotta make it happen. Listen, if it's gonna work, it's cause I'm gonna make it work. Listen, if this is gonna happen, it's cause I'm gonna make it happen. Hey, hey, listen, if I'm going to be able to rise to the top, I'm gonna have to get my and there's this thing in us that wants to do it for ourselves. Make it happen. Now I'm not saying we shouldn't work hard. I'm not saying we shouldn't have a work ethic and we shouldn't be putting our hand to whatever God tells us to or calls us to. What I am saying though is there's this thing in us that it it It maybe doesn't look like pride, but it is pride in going, I'm gonna take things into my own hand. And so often what happens is when we find ourselves facing resistance, rather than letting go and letting God, we lean in and try to do it ourselves. And here's what the scripture says: that we should be clothed with humility, for God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. And the Bible says that if we'll humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God, that In due time, in due season, he will exalt us. Says that we're to cast all of our care upon him, for he really does care for us. And my observation today is that in seasons of life where you you really want to to move forward, to get ahead. Maybe it's a promotion at work, maybe it's an opportunity or a door that you want open. Maybe it is getting into that first house, maybe it is a relationship that you want. My Observation is that rather than making it happen for ourselves, we really do need to trust God. And we need to humble ourselves and say, God, I trust you. And I can't do this for myself. I need you to do what I cannot do. And therefore, all of my worry and anxiety, I'm casting it upon you, trusting that in due time you will give me the grace I need and you will even exalt me or open the door, the opportunity that I want. God, you're gonna make it happen. And so my application today is that anything in me that wants to make it happen, I want to let go of that. Anything in me that's trying to strive, I want to let go of that. And I want to little by little trust God more and more every day to the point that I can let go and let God. it sounds so cliche, but it's so true. We gotta learn to let go and let God and say, God, I'm trusting you with my life. Trusting you my finances. I'm trusting you with my future. God, whatever you tell me to do, I'll do it. But I'm trusting you. And all that worry and anxiety, I'm casting it upon you, trusting and knowing that you said in your word that you will, you will take it upon you so you care for me. So I can cast my care upon you because you care for me. So my encouragement today is let's trust God. Let's in our relationships. In the workplace, let's in the things that we're striving towards relationships or oper. Let's truly trust God. God, you said promotion comes from you. Psalm 75. Daniel 4:17. You said that you are the one who is watching and giving things to men whom are deserving. You said that he who is faithful in the least will be faithful in much, and you will be sure that they God. I'm I'm I'm taking you at your word and I'm trusting you. You can make it happen. You can open the door. You can get me the promotion. You you're gonna bring the right spouse at the right time. You're going to give me the opportunity. God, I'm trusting you. So I'm not getting prideful. I'm not getting, you know, all stirred up. No, I'm letting go and letting God, humbling myself under your mighty hand, trusting you'll exalt me in due time. And as I feel the worry, I'm casting all of that upon you. I pray today that's an encouragement to you. And it helps you in whatever you're walking through. Can I pray for you? God, today I'm praying for people who are listening, myself included, that all of that worry and stress we may feel right now regarding things that we're trying to make happen. Again, it could be a relationship. Again, it could be a business deal. Again, it could be getting into that first house or the opportunity that we really want, the recognition, whatever it may be, God. I'm praying for those who who are feeling this angst and struggle today. And I'm asking you, God, that you really would help us to cast, to throw. To let go of all of that care and concern to put it on you for you care for us. I ask you that you would help us to trust you enough that in areas where we need to, we would just let go and let God. We really would let go of it, humbling ourselves under your mighty hand, submitting ourselves to your timing and your ways, trusting that in due time you will not only give us the grace, but you will exalt us or open those doors of opportunity that we need. We thank you for it today in Jesus' name. Amen. Well, once again, thank you so much for listening, for joining us today on the Daily Word podcast. Can't wait for tomorrow for another episode where God's going to encourage us. Hey, don't forget today, God wants to spend time with you. Make time, read the scripture, let God talk to you. We'll see you tomorrow.
