- 0:41Speaker 1: You could go check that out if you didn't. So,
- 0:44Speaker 1: I have been in quarantine for like three weeks with
- 0:49Speaker 1: COVID nineteen. If you've been listening, you know I got
- 0:52Speaker 1: the COVID. I feel better as I sniffle, I do
- 0:56Speaker 1: feel better. I don't have any symptoms, so I went
- 0:59Speaker 1: and got retest yesterday. Unfortunately, because I've I've been quarantined up,
- 1:03Speaker 1: I haven't been able to record any new episodes whatsoever.
- 1:06Speaker 1: I'm trying to do as many in person as possible
- 1:09Speaker 1: before we start going heavy on zoom, because there's obviously
- 1:11Speaker 1: gonna have to be a lot of stuff done over zoom.
- 1:14Speaker 1: So let me explain this next episode with the homie Mazie.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Before we talk about Mazie, I got a shout out
- 1:23Speaker 1: to our sponsors, Vapin. Make sure you hit that vapin

- 1:52Speaker 1: sure you tap in man follow them on Instagram too
- 1:55Speaker 1: at vapin. Shout out to them. We're gonna have a
- 1:59Speaker 1: new sponsor next Monday. So I'm excited for the new sponsor. Saluta,
- 2:03Speaker 1: the new sponsor. They know who they are. It's odd Socks,
- 2:07Speaker 1: all right, there you go. I just threw that out there,
- 2:09Speaker 1: shout out to odd Socks. Anyway, Mozzie. So let me
- 2:14Speaker 1: tell you this, this episode is like it's pretty old.
- 2:17Speaker 1: It was recorded in May, right after Mozzi's album came out,
- 2:21Speaker 1: and it was actually supposed to be the first episode
- 2:23Speaker 1: of the podcast. Unfortunately, uh, some things came up and
- 2:30Speaker 1: we didn't end up putting it out, So, uh, it's
- 2:35Speaker 1: it's it's I guess it's dated in the sense that
- 2:37Speaker 1: we talk a lot about Mozzi's album, which has been
- 2:39Speaker 1: out for a couple of months. But it is a
- 2:41Speaker 1: good conversation. Mazzie is one of my favorite artists. I
- 2:46Speaker 1: think he's a great dude, man, just the epitome of independence,
- 2:50Speaker 1: brilliance and hip hop and man, we had a great conversation.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Like I said, it's a it's a couple of months old,
- 2:59Speaker 1: so you won't hear us talking about anything that's going
- 3:02Speaker 1: on in the world right now, as far as George
- 3:04Speaker 1: Floyd or Black Lives Matter or any of the protests
- 3:07Speaker 1: and stuff. That's obviously something that I would have loved
- 3:09Speaker 1: to have spoken with Mazzi about. But it was recorded
- 3:14Speaker 1: mid May, around the time Mazzi's album came out, and
- 3:17Speaker 1: I actually wasn't gonna put this episode out even though
- 3:20Speaker 1: it's fire. I just you know, like I said, look, man,
- 3:24Speaker 1: I got the COVID, so we're dropping the Mazzi interview.
- 3:27Speaker 1: It's fire. I love Mazzi. If you're not a fan
- 3:31Speaker 1: of Mazzie, listen to the interview and you probably will
- 3:34Speaker 1: end up being a fan of Mazzi. If you're a
- 3:36Speaker 1: hip hop head, if the Freddy Gibbs interview brought you
- 3:40Speaker 1: here and you're still not tapped in with Mazzi, that's fine.
- 3:44Speaker 1: You should go tap in with him because the dude
- 3:46Speaker 1: can wrap his ass off and he's saying some real shit,
- 3:51Speaker 1: real real shit. So if you're not up on Mazzi yet,
- 3:57Speaker 1: listen to the interview, you'll like him after the interview
- 4:00Speaker 1: a lot more than before if you are a fan
- 4:02Speaker 1: of Mazzi and just enjoy it all right. Also, gonna
- 4:07Speaker 1: be dropping since I'm, like I said, since I've been
- 4:13Speaker 1: kind of on lockdown and I haven't been able to
- 4:15Speaker 1: get in with some face to face action pause tomorrow
- 4:19Speaker 1: or the next day, I'm gonna drop on a Dre
- 4:22Speaker 1: London interview from about a year and a half ago
- 4:25Speaker 1: when we originally were gonna launch the bootleg HP podcast.
- 4:28Speaker 1: Drey London is Post Malon's manager, and I just think
- 4:32Speaker 1: that there's obviously it's there is some dated shit in there,
- 4:35Speaker 1: but it's Also, if you're in the music industry, you
- 4:37Speaker 1: want to be in the music industry. There's so many
- 4:39Speaker 1: gems in that. So I'm gonna just throw it out
- 4:42Speaker 1: there for y'all to listen to. Uh. That's later this week.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Make sure you hit subscribe. Rate, please rate the podcast
- 4:50Speaker 1: if you're on Apple, if you're on Spotify, follow it.
- 4:54Speaker 1: But if you throw that rating my way on Apple,
- 4:56Speaker 1: I'd really appreciate it. Let's get into the Masi interview.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Are we six feet apart? Six? About six ft? All right?
- 5:04Speaker 1: We got a social distance, bro, it's good though, you
- 5:08Speaker 1: know we're gonna make it work. Hey. First of all, mighty,
- 5:11Speaker 1: the new album is out, and I gotta say, man,
- 5:13Speaker 1: I feel like, uh, you've leveled up every album quality. Why.
- 5:18Speaker 1: I just feel like you're getting better man. Nah, for sure,
- 5:20Speaker 1: I appreciate that, uh fully my intentions. Yeah, Like you know,
- 5:26Speaker 1: being first of all, I'm assuming there's been a lot
- 5:30Speaker 1: of opportunities where you could have gone major. Uh why
- 5:34Speaker 1: why at this point are we still staying independent? Shout
- 5:39Speaker 1: out the empire because we got a plaque. There's a
- 5:41Speaker 1: plaque right here. Oh, we got one of them. You
- 5:43Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. You gotta you got. That's that's
- 5:45Speaker 1: that's your name on there one up top ikey something
- 5:47Speaker 1: stocky in the chappie huh. Now, I think, you know,
- 5:51Speaker 1: I'm just comfortable. I'm comfortable with the independent lifestyle, you know,
- 5:57Speaker 1: and uh, I just know how to tweak it to
- 5:59Speaker 1: where it been fits me in mind. So I'm just
- 6:02Speaker 1: I'm gonna just squeeze it for what it's worse. I
- 6:04Speaker 1: feel like over the last couple of years, the mainstream,
- 6:09Speaker 1: like the taste makers, have really started to embrace what
- 6:11Speaker 1: you're doing. What do you think was like the point
- 6:14Speaker 1: in time where the narrative change where you were like, okay,
- 6:18Speaker 1: I'm like, you know, I know the Black Panther soundtrack
- 6:20Speaker 1: had to be one of those moments. But leading up
- 6:22Speaker 1: to that, I feel like finally you were getting a
- 6:24Speaker 1: lot of a lot of the respect that you've been
- 6:26Speaker 1: deserving for a few years. We came overlook the Kendrick
- 6:28Speaker 1: Lamar shout out either I think, you know, just seeing
- 6:33Speaker 1: the embracement of others. I think, you know, people just
- 6:37Speaker 1: see other people embracing other people. Them sent me of
- 6:41Speaker 1: their statue embrace, you know, the up and coming and
- 6:44Speaker 1: they follow suit. That's it. You know, if somebody get
- 6:48Speaker 1: if somebody starts sizzling right now and we pick up
- 6:51Speaker 1: on him and embracing, you see other people that's in
- 6:54Speaker 1: my lane pick up on him and embracing. So I
- 6:57Speaker 1: just feel like people just following suit, and you know
- 7:00Speaker 1: they actually it's they're exposing. So you know, by others
- 7:04Speaker 1: embracing it, they exposing me to you know, their fan
- 7:07Speaker 1: base and the crowded people that that that function with them,
- 7:11Speaker 1: and so you know, they they pick up on so
- 7:14Speaker 1: they fan base, they pick up on that new that
- 7:16Speaker 1: new sound, or they pick up on something they like
- 7:19Speaker 1: and they start functioning with it and exploiting it to others.
- 7:23Speaker 1: It's stuff like like double XL freshman covers, that kind
- 7:27Speaker 1: of shit, those kind of accolades like matter to you
- 7:29Speaker 1: at all. Hell, yeah, I was hot, said I ain't
- 7:34Speaker 1: get Freshmen of the Year. I felt like I was worthy,
- 7:38Speaker 1: and especially out of ten man list, out of ten,
- 7:41Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying. And yeah, you ain't in minds
- 7:45Speaker 1: ain't up there, and then you got you know, no disrespect,
- 7:48Speaker 1: but you got a couple of Theodoreks and peons up
- 7:50Speaker 1: bunch of bullshit. You know what I'm saying. And uh, now,
- 7:53Speaker 1: you know, I just feel like it turned political. It
- 7:56Speaker 1: just turned political. But double XL is my people, and
- 7:59Speaker 1: I love them dearly. You hear me. I just take
- 8:01Speaker 1: them a little, you know, I take it on the chin.
- 8:03Speaker 1: I take it on the chin. Evidently you know I
- 8:06Speaker 1: wouldn't politically tied in or I didn't put in enough
- 8:09Speaker 1: work either or And I don't blame nobody but me.
- 8:12Speaker 1: So I go back to the drawing board, get it in,
- 8:15Speaker 1: bite down, and find that hunger drop and make him
- 8:19Speaker 1: respect something. So your album's coming out, it's obviously it's
- 8:23Speaker 1: out today. Day's the day they I'm dropped. Last night
- 8:25Speaker 1: Drake announces he's putting out a project. Howevo? I mean
- 8:30Speaker 1: you do shout out to Drake, but like that's got
- 8:32Speaker 1: to kind of be like, well, fuck man, like n
- 8:34Speaker 1: I ain't gonna lie, wasn't really tripping. I heard it,
- 8:36Speaker 1: I seen it, and I really didn't react, you know,
- 8:38Speaker 1: shut out to Drake. He'd do what he won't when
- 8:40Speaker 1: he won't. And I got that same type of attitude.
- 8:43Speaker 1: I do what I won't when I won't. And you know,
- 8:45Speaker 1: I don't care who drop. You know what I'm seeing
- 8:47Speaker 1: me on the day that I drop, you know, it's
- 8:50Speaker 1: it just makes it more memorable. It give it more.
- 8:53Speaker 1: You know, I don't mind Drake dropping that. That's big
- 8:55Speaker 1: MINSI and Drake drop. You got me in the same conversation. Yeah,
- 8:58Speaker 1: and you got and you gotta fanger so rude. You
- 9:01Speaker 1: got some shit to get sensitive too, and you got
- 9:03Speaker 1: some gangster ship. Nah. Yeah, I got it on it.
- 9:05Speaker 1: It's on there man, and that. You know, if if
- 9:08Speaker 1: y'all comparing my album to Drake Nigga, your album is better,
- 9:11Speaker 1: I can't do nothing but smile, my boy. Yeah, you're
- 9:16Speaker 1: not out. The Drake album is a great body work, man,
- 9:18Speaker 1: appreciate it. On the project, you were saying, if people
- 9:21Speaker 1: mistaking you just being a rapper, that'd be a mistake.
- 9:23Speaker 1: That'd be a mistake. Man. I'm much more than that,
- 9:26Speaker 1: and I you know, on the on the album, I
- 9:29Speaker 1: was referring to it as a you know, as a
- 9:32Speaker 1: street politician, but in actuality, just period, point blank, in general,
- 9:38Speaker 1: I'm much more than that. I'm much more than that
- 9:40Speaker 1: to my family, I'm much more than that. To the
- 9:42Speaker 1: streets of Sacramento slash oh Pork, I much more than
- 9:45Speaker 1: that to you know, the West coast alone, because you know,
- 9:49Speaker 1: when I get to test the people, I really touch them,
- 9:52Speaker 1: and you know we all identified with the same struggle,
- 9:55Speaker 1: so they considered me one of theirs. The quarantine shit
- 10:01Speaker 1: with this COVID nineteen shit, how has besides live shows
- 10:05Speaker 1: and ship like that, Like, how has it affected your life?
- 10:08Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, Like, I mean, you look
- 10:09Speaker 1: like you're healthy, you look like you're doing well. All
- 10:11Speaker 1: the prices want a prices on the tissue. You know
- 10:15Speaker 1: what I'm saying, prices on the napkins price is not. No,
- 10:19Speaker 1: You're right though. Listen, bro, you go to seven eleven
- 10:22Speaker 1: right now and you had a se sanitizer. Come on, nah.
- 10:28Speaker 1: But outside of that, first and foremost semi cadulesist love
- 10:33Speaker 1: respect to the family that lost family during this time.
- 10:37Speaker 1: I know it's a serious you know this is this
- 10:40Speaker 1: is something serious, man, and I take it seriously. But
- 10:45Speaker 1: you know I ain't been highly affected. I'm an entertainer,
- 10:48Speaker 1: so my check been rolling in and if somebody in
- 10:51Speaker 1: my family has been affected by it, I assist, you know,
- 10:55Speaker 1: with with what I can, and so we all Gucci
- 10:58Speaker 1: and Gabana, the schools. I'm you know, my daughter at home,
- 11:02Speaker 1: so she her being out of school, that affects, you know,
- 11:06Speaker 1: spend more time with your daughter. Yeah, but nah, I'm
- 11:09Speaker 1: enjoying it. I ain't gonna lie. I'm enjoying the whole process. Man.
- 11:11Speaker 1: I wouldn't mind if the world stay like this. Uh
- 11:15Speaker 1: we because you it's less value on materialistic things and
- 11:20Speaker 1: uh you know, we just it's more family oriented oriented.
- 11:25Speaker 1: So man, I'm enjoying it. Man I I ain't got
- 11:27Speaker 1: no complaints. What's been the wildest shit? I mean, I
- 11:31Speaker 1: think I feel like I've watched all of Netflix. But like,
- 11:34Speaker 1: have you been binge watching any TV shows or like,
- 11:37Speaker 1: what have you been Like? I've been tapped THEE and
- 11:39Speaker 1: they got one called U first and Foremost. I've just
- 11:43Speaker 1: watched that last night What is it? All day and
- 11:45Speaker 1: the night? Oh they got some of the hell Gang
- 11:48Speaker 1: music in there. Shout out to the production team and
- 11:52Speaker 1: everybody behind that. But I've been watching first forty eights Fire,
- 11:56Speaker 1: I Slide in the house and where we turned on?
- 11:59Speaker 1: Oh did you see the top Tiger King? Yeah, tweaked
- 12:03Speaker 1: on that Joe Exotic, that's my boy. Hey, yo, I'm
- 12:08Speaker 1: not sure if I'm not sure if that was him
- 12:10Speaker 1: really singing. But if it was he could sing, he
- 12:13Speaker 1: was doing his douggie. He was doing his duggie. I
- 12:16Speaker 1: think it might have been him lipsticking somebody. I don't
- 12:18Speaker 1: know if he could sing that well, I would you do?
- 12:21Speaker 1: Would you do a record with Joe Exotic? Right now? Running?
- 12:25Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, cook up you feel me? Uh?
- 12:28Speaker 1: Gang related jungles that should be crazy off of ap
- 12:32Speaker 1: gang related jungles. You know what I'm saying, Yo, it's
- 12:35Speaker 1: crazy because I remember the first time I met you
- 12:38Speaker 1: was like twenty seventeen. You came up to the station.
- 12:40Speaker 1: You remember, you freest out over Triumph and who tank
- 12:42Speaker 1: be for us? Huh? And at that time you were
- 12:48Speaker 1: this was like Mazie leaned out on a cloud, Masie
- 12:54Speaker 1: I fell asleep on Yeah, you was like in another world.
- 12:58Speaker 1: No I was. I was in the hall another world
- 13:00Speaker 1: man during that whole time. Yeah, And I remember like, yo,
- 13:03Speaker 1: he's like you killed it. But I remember I remember
- 13:07Speaker 1: talking to you know, talking to Gazi like, man, this
- 13:10Speaker 1: if this guy could get his ship together, like he's
- 13:12Speaker 1: a star, you know what I'm saying. Like, and then
- 13:15Speaker 1: what I thought was so dope, man, was you were
- 13:17Speaker 1: the first rapper to really make it okay to like
- 13:20Speaker 1: kick the cup. You started that, You started to kick
- 13:25Speaker 1: the cup challenge for sure, most definitely, And I feel
- 13:27Speaker 1: like it was needed because like that wasn't cool at
- 13:31Speaker 1: that point in time, and it was like somebody, somebody
- 13:33Speaker 1: needed to step out and be like, yo, man, you
- 13:36Speaker 1: know it's it's okay to kick this ship now. Yeah,
- 13:38Speaker 1: they banged me upside my head for that too. I
- 13:40Speaker 1: remember them. They bashed me upside my head, all types
- 13:43Speaker 1: of people. But I wasn't mad at it based on
- 13:46Speaker 1: I feel like it benefited more than than anything. It
- 13:50Speaker 1: benefited a lot of people, you know what I'm saying,
- 13:52Speaker 1: more than anything. So I wasn't mad at it. Man.
- 13:55Speaker 1: I take I take the lit. And this was prior
- 13:57Speaker 1: to like you know, obviously a lot of people are
- 13:59Speaker 1: trying to get clean now because a lot of people
- 14:01Speaker 1: have passed away. You know, Juice wrld is before all this,
- 14:04Speaker 1: before this, when it wasn't cool, when it wasn't bully
- 14:06Speaker 1: bull to kick the cup. It's when it was nigga
- 14:08Speaker 1: with you talking about kicked the cup. Nigga, I'm seeing me.
- 14:12Speaker 1: You know. They was tweaking on me, But I ain't
- 14:15Speaker 1: mad at it. Like I said, I take the lick.
- 14:17Speaker 1: I'm seeing me if somebody could benefit off of it?
- 14:19Speaker 1: Was that still? Is that still something you struggle with
- 14:21Speaker 1: because I know that that's you know, recreational around. I
- 14:24Speaker 1: just said it in my song. Man. You know, at
- 14:27Speaker 1: least I don't promote it on the GRAM. This is
- 14:29Speaker 1: my addiction, though. He said I told the road I quit,
- 14:32Speaker 1: So I forgot how I go told the road I quit,
- 14:35Speaker 1: But I ain't. Oh told the road I quit. It's
- 14:38Speaker 1: hard to kick it though. At least I don't promote
- 14:40Speaker 1: it on the GRAM. That's my addiction though, And nothing
- 14:42Speaker 1: the pain that I be going through. Who are you
- 14:44Speaker 1: to judge? I miss you, Brenda Usha, Without you, I've
- 14:47Speaker 1: just secluded love so nah. Yeah, you know I had
- 14:50Speaker 1: a little bar in my song where you know, I
- 14:52Speaker 1: was admitted to admitting to relapsing, right, but you're not
- 14:57Speaker 1: glorifying it. Nah, But I don't glorify it, man, don't
- 15:00Speaker 1: on painted is this is something that somebody So these
- 15:02Speaker 1: is my real struggles. This is what I deal with.
- 15:05Speaker 1: These is my everyday struggles. I'm a real human being
- 15:08Speaker 1: and I'm seeing me and I go through things and
- 15:11Speaker 1: I find methods and ways to numb it, and uh,
- 15:14Speaker 1: you know this is my battle. He's one of the
- 15:16Speaker 1: battles that you know what I'm saying me, I'm in
- 15:18Speaker 1: a ring with and I gotta face. But I wouldn't
- 15:20Speaker 1: advise nobody I love, nor nobody you love to indulge
- 15:25Speaker 1: in them type of activities lyrically like on some MC shit,
- 15:29Speaker 1: I feel like you're like top notch man. I feel
- 15:32Speaker 1: like you're especially on the West Coast, Like when I
- 15:34Speaker 1: think of like Ella, Yeah, like when I think like
- 15:37Speaker 1: like who can melt somebody on the sixteen, I'm like,
- 15:39Speaker 1: all right, Mazzie's one of those guys, like who is
- 15:42Speaker 1: somebody who you respect on that level as like a
- 15:46Speaker 1: rapper who like even like Yo, man, I like if
- 15:49Speaker 1: you were to do a record with you might be
- 15:52Speaker 1: you guys did a whole project together, whole project. He
- 15:55Speaker 1: one of them people that I get in there and
- 15:58Speaker 1: you know, it's a spicy situation, you know what I'm
- 16:00Speaker 1: saying me, We it's spunky smoke, you know what I'm saying.
- 16:04Speaker 1: And uh, you know, I know he gonna dish it
- 16:06Speaker 1: out and so I gotta return fire. He go brazy.
- 16:10Speaker 1: Who else I respect on that level outside of my camp.
- 16:14Speaker 1: What I'm saying, because you know the silly rules he
- 16:16Speaker 1: go break, I'm saying, eat my snubs. This them them
- 16:19Speaker 1: they are competitive and they make but yeah, I say surfing.
- 16:24Speaker 1: You know Nick, I used to feel that way about
- 16:26Speaker 1: Ni g O D. Like I got a tweak when
- 16:29Speaker 1: I get in here with him. I can't ain't no
- 16:31Speaker 1: playing with it. Uh it was one more Oh my boy,
- 16:37Speaker 1: Jay Rock. I respect, of course, I respect rocking the
- 16:40Speaker 1: way he rock out. It's a couple. I respect a
- 16:43Speaker 1: lot of people that be shooting that is a man.
- 16:44Speaker 1: I ain't gonna lie. There's some people that that can
- 16:46Speaker 1: dance in that booth you talk about j Rock. Obviously,
- 16:50Speaker 1: Kendrick putting you on that Black Panther soundtrack was a
- 16:53Speaker 1: big look. Man. Was there ever any dialogue of you
- 16:58Speaker 1: signing with TD or is that discussion ever happened? Like
- 17:00Speaker 1: did they ever like show interest? Because I feel like
- 17:02Speaker 1: you were to fit in TD function with me. I
- 17:04Speaker 1: ain't gonna a lot. They done through me so many
- 17:06Speaker 1: other ups, man, and I can't wait to return the favor.
- 17:09Speaker 1: G O. D. I feel like I'm in dead with
- 17:12Speaker 1: them people, man, love them. Was there ever like any
- 17:16Speaker 1: discussions that you signing signing with them? No, it was
- 17:19Speaker 1: you know, I was, I was throwing that out there.
- 17:21Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, me tapping Top Dog was
- 17:24Speaker 1: had Bretta brother. But uh, we sel family oriented that
- 17:28Speaker 1: you know it it it nobody. We ain't never pressed
- 17:30Speaker 1: play on that. And you know, I'm so bumfortable and
- 17:33Speaker 1: bully boo with my little situation that I never really
- 17:37Speaker 1: entertained anything outside of it, but for show, I function
- 17:41Speaker 1: with the whole TD camp and uh, that'd be dope.
- 17:46Speaker 1: You talked about like, you know, your relationship with Empire
- 17:49Speaker 1: shout out to Ghazi. Uh what is it about working
- 17:52Speaker 1: with Ghazi that, like you you don't think because a
- 17:55Speaker 1: lot of you know, I feel like Empire is this
- 17:57Speaker 1: island in the middle of the music industry that some
- 18:00Speaker 1: people know about, but other people are like what is
- 18:02Speaker 1: going on over there? Like what is it about working
- 18:04Speaker 1: with Empire and Gazi that to you is like special
- 18:07Speaker 1: and sets sets that company apart? Because I know Gazi's
- 18:11Speaker 1: one of the smartest guys I know. So coming out
- 18:13Speaker 1: the trenches, I felt like when I talk to Inner,
- 18:17Speaker 1: I mean record labels, my main request was, you know,
- 18:22Speaker 1: just freedom to do whatever I want as far as creatively,
- 18:29Speaker 1: and that's what they offer. They tell me I'm entitled
- 18:32Speaker 1: to do whatever I want. They ain't try to change
- 18:34Speaker 1: my music, they ain't try to dilute it. They ain't
- 18:37Speaker 1: come with no like, look you should do this. And
- 18:40Speaker 1: you know, they don't even suggest things that it's out
- 18:42Speaker 1: of my lane, you know, and they let me be me,
- 18:45Speaker 1: they let me do me. I'm entitled to drop that wheel.
- 18:50Speaker 1: The fact that everything is so transparent, you know, all
- 18:54Speaker 1: the deals is transparent. It's like, you know, I said,
- 19:00Speaker 1: twelfth grader can understand the whole. If they sit down
- 19:04Speaker 1: and talk with you and you're a twelfth grader, they could.
- 19:06Speaker 1: They could bust it down. Somebody who's new to this business,
- 19:09Speaker 1: never done any type of work in this business. They can.
- 19:12Speaker 1: They'll make it transparent for you to understand, and then
- 19:15Speaker 1: they'll follow through with that. It's not like you know,
- 19:19Speaker 1: you know how fine print. It's everything is clear. And
- 19:23Speaker 1: I was able to comprehend and understand it and see
- 19:25Speaker 1: that this is the situation best, it's best for me,
- 19:29Speaker 1: it benefits me. Of course, I wanted to take the
- 19:32Speaker 1: long way. I didn't want to jump on the elevator.
- 19:34Speaker 1: I wanted to run the stairs, so you know, and
- 19:37Speaker 1: they and they assisted me with that, and they got
- 19:41Speaker 1: behind me, man. And like I said, they word is platinum.
- 19:46Speaker 1: Anything they say they gonna do, they follow through when
- 19:49Speaker 1: they come with these deals or you know, however, it's
- 19:52Speaker 1: it's I feel like I feel like they family. I
- 19:55Speaker 1: feel like if I go broke today, I can call
- 19:57Speaker 1: guys in and say better better send me from me
- 20:00Speaker 1: one of them. Emberly's man, right, right right, You're gonna
- 20:03Speaker 1: work it over, you feel me. I feel like I
- 20:05Speaker 1: could call name name team. I need a hunter k
- 20:08Speaker 1: like today though, and he had worked that over and
- 20:12Speaker 1: that's I just it's crazy the relationship that I got
- 20:15Speaker 1: with him. So you know, anytime I can, I can
- 20:20Speaker 1: persuade somebody in it. Not even persuade, man, anytime I
- 20:23Speaker 1: could recommend you know what I'm seeing me or refer
- 20:26Speaker 1: somebody to Empire, Man, I for surely go about it.
- 20:29Speaker 1: You've like, throughout your career you've been extremely active, Like
- 20:33Speaker 1: if we don't have a MASI album, we'll have a
- 20:36Speaker 1: collab project with you and gun Player, you and Sue
- 20:40Speaker 1: or you gotta stay lit man, that's what we're in it.
- 20:42Speaker 1: Fo Yeah, Like I feel like that that you know,
- 20:46Speaker 1: just your activity has a lot of a lot to
- 20:51Speaker 1: do with your success, right, Like, sure, what what is
- 20:54Speaker 1: some some some advice you would give the independent artists
- 20:58Speaker 1: because I feel like you've been building this for so long,
- 21:01Speaker 1: but like I've noticed, like I'm like, yo, this guy
- 21:03Speaker 1: don't give fans like a chance to forget. Like he's
- 21:05Speaker 1: on top, he's on their neck. Like consistency is key.
- 21:09Speaker 1: Consistency is key, and you know, know who your market is,
- 21:14Speaker 1: and reciprocate the love. Make sure you give back man
- 21:18Speaker 1: as much as you receive straight up, like the smallest
- 21:21Speaker 1: things in the world. It go a long way with
- 21:25Speaker 1: the fan base. Just imagine you having an unconditional love
- 21:29Speaker 1: for an artist and you push up on him and
- 21:32Speaker 1: he's stiff on you. Right, You're gonna feel some type
- 21:35Speaker 1: of way. You might not feel the same way you
- 21:37Speaker 1: felt about that artist again. You feel me, So you know,
- 21:41Speaker 1: I see the love, I recognize the love, and I
- 21:44Speaker 1: reciprocated when I see it. I make sure you know
- 21:47Speaker 1: I dish out the same energy. I make sure make
- 21:52Speaker 1: sure I treat them. You know, I treat them like
- 21:55Speaker 1: like if it was the other way around, if I
- 21:57Speaker 1: was the fan and this was somebody I listened to,
- 22:00Speaker 1: and how how would I want to be, you know,
- 22:02Speaker 1: treated in this situation. So even when I'm tired, even
- 22:05Speaker 1: when I'm exhausted, al I'm with my daughters and I
- 22:08Speaker 1: don't feel like doing this shit. I'm tired of taking pictures,
- 22:11Speaker 1: I'm tired of sign this ship. Watch out feel me.
- 22:14Speaker 1: This is me time, my time. I still go out
- 22:17Speaker 1: my way, Still go out my way, and make sure
- 22:21Speaker 1: you know that that that they leave satisfied. And it's
- 22:26Speaker 1: worked for me. It's benefited me. Man, It's worked for me.
- 22:29Speaker 1: And the crazy part about it is it's not it's
- 22:32Speaker 1: not hard or it's not a task when when you're
- 22:36Speaker 1: genuine about it, when you genuinely felt like that, you
- 22:39Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, the same thing with this music,
- 22:41Speaker 1: it don't feel like work when you're passionate about this.
- 22:44Speaker 1: This is this is I do this for free. I
- 22:47Speaker 1: would love to come do this interview. You know I'm saying,
- 22:50Speaker 1: this is this is me, this is what I this
- 22:51Speaker 1: is what I signed up for. I've been waiting on
- 22:54Speaker 1: this day. I pray for this day. I sat on
- 22:56Speaker 1: a bunk and prayed for this. So now that I'm
- 22:59Speaker 1: here man, I am break said wholeheartedly. And you know,
- 23:02Speaker 1: at anything I do, man, I give it my awe.
- 23:05Speaker 1: So I just I say, stay, stay consistent, and you know,
- 23:10Speaker 1: just reciprocate the love. Man, even I don't care how
- 23:13Speaker 1: small it is. If it's somebody reposting your ship on Instagram,
- 23:17Speaker 1: if it's somebody at DJ shouting you out man on
- 23:20Speaker 1: the radio out of nowhere, just make sure you know
- 23:23Speaker 1: you you you get at love right back, and yeah,
- 23:26Speaker 1: build your build on top of that. That's something to
- 23:28Speaker 1: build on. You talk about getting locked up. I know
- 23:32Speaker 1: the last time you you you you were down. When
- 23:35Speaker 1: you got out, you had a battery in your back. Yeah,
- 23:38Speaker 1: that was kind of what kind of like was was
- 23:41Speaker 1: was that motivation to really get on this campaign? For sure?
- 23:47Speaker 1: Take us back to that, that that mentality when you
- 23:49Speaker 1: when you went to jail last time and you was
- 23:51Speaker 1: sitting in yourself thinking about like, damn, I can't take
- 23:54Speaker 1: what I got for granted, because I remember talking to
- 23:56Speaker 1: you and you were like, motherfuckers knew who you were
- 23:59Speaker 1: in jail, and shit, you know what I'm saying now,
- 24:01Speaker 1: for sure they'll get on me too, Like the Homies,
- 24:04Speaker 1: the Homies, be, they'll be devastated when I slide through.
- 24:07Speaker 1: Usually you know it's a celebratory situation, right one of
- 24:10Speaker 1: the homies come in, gang man, that you ain here
- 24:13Speaker 1: for wile you lightweight, you know what I'm saying, undecoveredly
- 24:16Speaker 1: hoping the nigga got a little time so he can
- 24:18Speaker 1: come big it with you, right, kick with all. They
- 24:22Speaker 1: be disturbed when I slide in there, like you know
- 24:24Speaker 1: what I'm saying, what is you doing? And I'm talking
- 24:26Speaker 1: about the ones that genuinely love me. Anybody else they
- 24:29Speaker 1: happy to see me. But the ones who genuinely love me,
- 24:31Speaker 1: the ones who watched me struggle and what I'm saying
- 24:34Speaker 1: and watch this marathon take place. You know, they they
- 24:39Speaker 1: they feel some type of way man, and I appreciate
- 24:42Speaker 1: that and that go a long way. So when I
- 24:45Speaker 1: be in there, I just it be like Bret, Nigga,
- 24:47Speaker 1: you better get it together. Don't double back here, nigga,
- 24:50Speaker 1: You double back here? Nigga is up. And you know
- 24:54Speaker 1: I be in there playing, plotting, strategizing, writing down what
- 24:58Speaker 1: I'm gonna do, how I'm gonna do it, how long
- 25:00Speaker 1: it's gonna take me to do it. You know what
- 25:02Speaker 1: I'm saying and and and when they cracked the gates.
- 25:05Speaker 1: But I'm sitting in there. I'm sitting in there and
- 25:07Speaker 1: I'm impatient. I want to do it now, anything that
- 25:10Speaker 1: I can do right now. Over this phone, I'm calling
- 25:13Speaker 1: home and I'm trying to get it done. Bro. We
- 25:15Speaker 1: gotta do this. Bro, Bro, we got it. You know.
- 25:17Speaker 1: You know it's ugly for me right now. But as
- 25:19Speaker 1: soon as I get out, I'm telling you, Bro, I
- 25:21Speaker 1: need to hold this and we gotta do this. Hey,
- 25:23Speaker 1: hit dude and tell dude this. So it's like a
- 25:26Speaker 1: machine and moving and you're trying to keep it afloat
- 25:29Speaker 1: and you're impatient and you can't wait because you could
- 25:31Speaker 1: taste it. And then they crack them gates, man, and
- 25:34Speaker 1: you get the child down, or you get to bite down.
- 25:36Speaker 1: You get to prove it. So when I came home,
- 25:39Speaker 1: I already knew I was fake. Waight, gang, I was
- 25:42Speaker 1: like like, gang chief, you know what I'm saying, And
- 25:44Speaker 1: that's how that's how the gang task was teached. Treat me.
- 25:48Speaker 1: So you know, the suckers was on my line like
- 25:50Speaker 1: you know, I'm here at Honcho, we gotta clean him up.
- 25:53Speaker 1: And I was so I was you know, I was
- 25:56Speaker 1: they knocked it, I got shot at a lot, whatever
- 25:58Speaker 1: the case. But been going through CPS, fighting CPS, fighting probation,
- 26:04Speaker 1: I'm saying, getting into it with the homies because you know,
- 26:07Speaker 1: I'm shooting up. So it's just like all odds against you.
- 26:12Speaker 1: It's like, it's crazy. And I was still able to juke,
- 26:17Speaker 1: move and hurdle, jump over them hurdles and them obstacles
- 26:21Speaker 1: and and and still overcome all the all the negatives
- 26:25Speaker 1: and everything that was against me, man and find and
- 26:28Speaker 1: find my niche. And so it's just crazy. It's crazy.
- 26:32Speaker 1: Hella thankful, beyond blessed, and I'm grateful a lot of gratitude.
- 26:37Speaker 1: So I try to give back in any shape and form.
- 26:40Speaker 1: Like I feel like every time I see you, bro
- 26:42Speaker 1: like or just over the years, man like, I feel
- 26:44Speaker 1: like you're somebody who's always improving, like as a person,
- 26:48Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. Sure, whether it's maturity, whether
- 26:51Speaker 1: it's the way you conduct yourself, whether it me know,
- 26:54Speaker 1: you're always leveling up. You know what I'm saying. God too,
- 26:56Speaker 1: you got so that's what we're getting it for it. Man,
- 26:59Speaker 1: I'm raising girls, So I'm raising girls, and you know
- 27:01Speaker 1: I can't. I can't. I can only give them the
- 27:04Speaker 1: best of me. So if I'm not better in myself,
- 27:08Speaker 1: then I feel like I'm cheating them, I'm giving them less.
- 27:11Speaker 1: So I gotta you know, it's time. You gotta educate yourself.
- 27:15Speaker 1: You gotta stay, stay focused, determine. You gotta make sure
- 27:19Speaker 1: you financially if you if you financially literate, what kind
- 27:23Speaker 1: of good game you gonna pass on to your kids? Facts? Hey,
- 27:26Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. So I just try to stay.
- 27:29Speaker 1: I try to stay because my little girl's damn, they're
- 27:32Speaker 1: smarter than me doing homework. Six that's the one I'm
- 27:36Speaker 1: talking about. But I got one six and another one too,
- 27:39Speaker 1: but smarter than me. Bro, We're doing homework. And if
- 27:43Speaker 1: she trying to tell me, like, this is the right answer, Dad,
- 27:46Speaker 1: I'm like, nah, I don't think that's right. She's right,
- 27:49Speaker 1: She's right. So now you know, I just got to
- 27:52Speaker 1: stay on my toes. But hell yeah, I appreciate that. Bro.
- 27:54Speaker 1: That's what we're in it for. Man, A whole lot
- 27:56Speaker 1: of growth. Man, that's you know, I'm embracing. I'm in racing,
- 28:00Speaker 1: uh that og status you talk about financial financial literacy
- 28:05Speaker 1: which I feel like all of us usually learn the
- 28:07Speaker 1: hard way, whether it's fucking off money we shouldn't have
- 28:10Speaker 1: fucked off, or like owing the taxes or whatever it is,
- 28:15Speaker 1: like what is for people watching? Like what do you
- 28:18Speaker 1: what is like one thing you could say to them,
- 28:19Speaker 1: like they should be on their toes about when it
- 28:21Speaker 1: comes to bread, because that's not something that gets taught
- 28:23Speaker 1: in school. I just feel like you should. You should
- 28:26Speaker 1: treat it the same way you treat anything else. And
- 28:29Speaker 1: for female wan her breast done, I'm seeing me, she
- 28:31Speaker 1: gonna go tweak on a doctor. She gonna look at
- 28:34Speaker 1: all types of pictures and makeovers, she gonna study it.
- 28:38Speaker 1: She gonna look at what with with what causes? With
- 28:41Speaker 1: how I can get ugly for it? You know what
- 28:42Speaker 1: I'm seeing me. If you want to become an attorney,
- 28:45Speaker 1: you get study, You go study, bro. I feel like
- 28:48Speaker 1: that's the same thing. You want to get rich. You
- 28:50Speaker 1: need to study. You need to study financial literacy. You
- 28:53Speaker 1: need to know the ins and outs of the game
- 28:55Speaker 1: that you plan. You need to know how to how
- 28:57Speaker 1: to how to manage money. You need to know how
- 28:59Speaker 1: to you know invest money. You just it's you gotta
- 29:03Speaker 1: learn money that's it. I just feel like you have
- 29:05Speaker 1: to educate yourself. We wouldn't know our math, our additions,
- 29:10Speaker 1: nor subtraction if nobody educated us on that, and so
- 29:14Speaker 1: we won't know how to deal with money. I don't
- 29:16Speaker 1: care who you are, what you think, you ain't gonna
- 29:19Speaker 1: know how to really play with money, man, if you
- 29:20Speaker 1: don't educate yourself on it, if it doesn't you know,
- 29:24Speaker 1: if it don't come natural. I remember when you posted
- 29:26Speaker 1: that screenshot of your bank account that everybody was like, yo, yeah,
- 29:31Speaker 1: I needed I needed some financial education. Then man, I
- 29:35Speaker 1: was tweaked out. What did he do? But now you
- 29:38Speaker 1: know I was trying to I was just yeah, I
- 29:41Speaker 1: was just trying to motivate the young man that it's real,
- 29:43Speaker 1: Like it's you know, because it I could tell you
- 29:46Speaker 1: I got a million dollars, A rapper can say you
- 29:48Speaker 1: got a million dollars, and you know that's what I'm
- 29:50Speaker 1: seeing me. That's well, look at that as an opinion,
- 29:53Speaker 1: not fact. That's an opinion. Yeah, like, yeah, you might
- 29:55Speaker 1: have a million, but you might you probably sold all
- 29:58Speaker 1: your jewelry. Yeah you I even touched a million dollars,
- 30:01Speaker 1: but you ain't got a million liquid? Yeah, you ain't
- 30:03Speaker 1: got nothing, man, come on, And so I just wanted
- 30:05Speaker 1: to show my youngest and send them trenches because you know,
- 30:08Speaker 1: I still pull up like regular fella. I'm pulling up
- 30:11Speaker 1: regular real nigga. I'm jumping out, I'm him. I'm still
- 30:14Speaker 1: in places where you shouldn't be. You got a million dollars,
- 30:18Speaker 1: and I just want to show them like niggas like
- 30:21Speaker 1: us me And you know what I'm saying, we the same.
- 30:23Speaker 1: And if I can go get that in belet you
- 30:25Speaker 1: can go get that embly. It's it's, it's, it's it's attainable.
- 30:31Speaker 1: The album title beyond Bulletproof, talk about why what, what's
- 30:35Speaker 1: the significance of that time the loved one? Unconditionally beyond bulletproof.
- 30:39Speaker 1: It means bulletproof. Man, I lay your boy layer bulletproof.
- 30:44Speaker 1: I mean it's you know, the love that I got
- 30:46Speaker 1: for you is it can't be penetrated. Man, can't none
- 30:51Speaker 1: is teflne ain't nothing. You know what I'm saying, We
- 30:53Speaker 1: ain't nothing going through that can't not disturb what we
- 30:55Speaker 1: got going on. Man can't then penetrate the surface. So
- 31:00Speaker 1: you know that's bulletproof. I'm letting you know it's beyond bulletproof, man.
- 31:03Speaker 1: And that's I'm specifically talking to the forgotten, the overlooked,
- 31:09Speaker 1: the you know, the ones that we tend to unconsciously
- 31:13Speaker 1: forget about, the ones that send themselves them jail cells,
- 31:17Speaker 1: the ones that's I'm seeing me less fortunate? Is that?
- 31:22Speaker 1: Is that what the story behind the album cover too?
- 31:24Speaker 1: Like who's in the car with you? And yeah, that's
- 31:25Speaker 1: the less fortunate. That's my people them unking. I'm gonna
- 31:28Speaker 1: call them unking them, that's unking them. I pulled the
- 31:31Speaker 1: skared rod, told them get in, slid through the trenches,
- 31:35Speaker 1: slid through Hollywood, smoked some good dope with them, took
- 31:37Speaker 1: them to Bostonova's buzzed down. You know what I'm saying
- 31:41Speaker 1: me little chicken on fires, and then jump back in
- 31:44Speaker 1: the load. Took a couple of photos. You know what
- 31:46Speaker 1: I'm saying me, went on about my day. My Pinta
- 31:49Speaker 1: sent me the photos. They was plattinum velvet. I'm like,
- 31:51Speaker 1: what's this? You know this looked like album cover material?
- 31:55Speaker 1: Right ran to play. That's him beyond bulletproof at explain
- 31:59Speaker 1: everything that's going on in the cover. I love you unconditionally,
- 32:02Speaker 1: no matter your circumstances, beautiful one. We talked about you
- 32:08Speaker 1: doing a lot of cloud projects. You obviously I love
- 32:11Speaker 1: slimy individuals. Ooh, that's my boy. Shout out big Burn. Yeah,
- 32:17Speaker 1: I mean ship logic was on there, y g was on.
- 32:19Speaker 1: I mean it was it was as Burn too that
- 32:21Speaker 1: I ain't gonna lie. Not only was I'm saying me,
- 32:24Speaker 1: not only did we go half on the project, but
- 32:27Speaker 1: he won one hundred percent on production. Hell yeah, he
- 32:30Speaker 1: ran every play, autumn plays a beat was that's his selection,
- 32:34Speaker 1: every feature. That's him tapping into his men's in them
- 32:38Speaker 1: pull up. He went brazy man shot studio. We went
- 32:43Speaker 1: to his studio where he recorded that. I'm saying he
- 32:46Speaker 1: smoked all his weed. I mean he's got a lot

- 33:05Speaker 1: like another? Who's who's an artist that you would like
- 33:07Speaker 1: to do another? Like? Do a collab project with that
- 33:10Speaker 1: you haven't yet. It's hello artists out there to name
- 33:13Speaker 1: a few. You know you got the Little Babies futures. Yeah,
- 33:18Speaker 1: I fuck with Atlanta Tough, Me and Luchi. We got
- 33:20Speaker 1: something on the way way on the freeway. Uh. I
- 33:25Speaker 1: like to do something with who out there? Oh, you
- 33:28Speaker 1: know Dave, he's be talking that ship. Oh you and
- 33:31Speaker 1: would be perfect. You guys have worked together. You guys
- 33:34Speaker 1: this album came out on the same day a couple
- 33:36Speaker 1: of years ago. Yes, my dog, I let it do
- 33:39Speaker 1: one with Anthony Hamilton's just a whole soulful album, Anthony
- 33:43Speaker 1: ham That would be some all time ship. Yeah. Who
- 33:47Speaker 1: else have you tapped in with the Griselda guys yet?
- 33:53Speaker 1: I just say Bennie just tapped in with the Butcher.
- 33:57Speaker 1: That'd be crazy. I just tapped in last night. You know, sir,
- 34:00Speaker 1: if he tapped me in better better that you need
- 34:02Speaker 1: to funk with the Okay? Yeah, Benny's like, I feel
- 34:07Speaker 1: like what you are for the West coast those guys
- 34:10Speaker 1: right now for the East coast. Hell yeah, that's that's squad.
- 34:13Speaker 1: I function with him. Uh, and I want to hear
- 34:16Speaker 1: you and Freddy Gibbs wrapped the same. That's my boy.
- 34:19Speaker 1: Come on, Gibbs, big dog. I function with him heavy
- 34:23Speaker 1: here a fella now, it's it's a lot of people.
- 34:26Speaker 1: I let her collab with Man a lot of R
- 34:27Speaker 1: and B too, So getting out Eric Bellinger's on the album,
- 34:30Speaker 1: that's what I mean. You guys did the remake with you? Yeah?
- 34:35Speaker 1: That was that? An easy sample to get cleared. I
- 34:38Speaker 1: don't know. I think they beat us upside our forehead
- 34:40Speaker 1: about that sample, g O D. I think they beat
- 34:44Speaker 1: us up side our foehead. But you know what I'm
- 34:46Speaker 1: saying that gang LAMB made a shake man, so we
- 34:49Speaker 1: we here. It's president. Make sure y'all gonna snatch that too.
- 34:52Speaker 1: Which sample was harder that one of the Tupac one.
- 34:58Speaker 1: I didn't want to touch Tupac want to touch it.
- 35:01Speaker 1: They forced me to do that. I didn't want to
- 35:03Speaker 1: touch it. So you didn't want to do that record.
- 35:05Speaker 1: I didn't want to touch it. That's pack. I don't
- 35:07Speaker 1: want to touch nothing they got to do with pac Man.
- 35:09Speaker 1: That's I just got that type of respect for him,
- 35:11Speaker 1: like I don't even want to I don't even want
- 35:12Speaker 1: to play with it. So I mean that that was
- 35:15Speaker 1: a dope record. No, it was a dope record and
- 35:17Speaker 1: the whole role out of it, it was a dope play.
- 35:19Speaker 1: I functioned with the whole play, but it was something
- 35:20Speaker 1: that you felt was a little forced and something that
- 35:22Speaker 1: you really didn't feel when I did it. I loved it,
- 35:25Speaker 1: fell in love with it. I was juice ecstatic about
- 35:28Speaker 1: how it turned out. The you know, the response from
- 35:31Speaker 1: the people, the whole nine. But you know, before I,
- 35:36Speaker 1: before I even wrote to it, when he pulled the
- 35:37Speaker 1: beat up, I'm like, I don't want to I don't
- 35:39Speaker 1: want to play with it. And they, you know, they like, well,
- 35:41Speaker 1: I'm telling you this to play. We get WOOTI woo
- 35:43Speaker 1: woo woo woo had WOOTI woop slode. I'm like, all right,
- 35:46Speaker 1: let's run the play because you know, I'm I'm not
- 35:49Speaker 1: that combatic with my with my team, you know, if
- 35:52Speaker 1: they if they recommend something and they feel like it's
- 35:54Speaker 1: a good look, and I ran to play and it
- 35:57Speaker 1: was a good look. Man. Is that a record you regret? No? No,
- 36:01Speaker 1: I just the record with the record. I just didn't
- 36:04Speaker 1: want to touch it. Before I touched it, you know
- 36:06Speaker 1: what I'm saying. And after I tested, I appreciated it.
- 36:09Speaker 1: It's the closest I can get, the pac Man closest
- 36:12Speaker 1: I'm seeing me as far as you know, given a
- 36:15Speaker 1: dedication and without without directly giving a dedication. So it
- 36:20Speaker 1: was dope, man it. I loved it and everything. I
- 36:23Speaker 1: appreciate everybody that was involved. You know the same dude
- 36:25Speaker 1: who played Pa was in there in the video. Yeah,
- 36:29Speaker 1: my boy, so it the whole killer kid man. I
- 36:32Speaker 1: loved it, but it was crazy. You know you did,
- 36:34Speaker 1: you did right by it. Like that's like, you know
- 36:36Speaker 1: Mac dre record, I left Matt, that's Mac a Jack
- 36:39Speaker 1: of Record, big dog. Who's who is like your top
- 36:46Speaker 1: five all Timezzi, top five hours, Pa, dribble Pot. I
- 36:55Speaker 1: don't want to leave nobody else. So it gets spunky,
- 36:57Speaker 1: and you know, I'm from the eighties, but I'm gonna
- 36:59Speaker 1: just give it to you rang. You know the snoops
- 37:01Speaker 1: bock snoop wang d MX DMX is he don't get
- 37:09Speaker 1: mentioned enough in that conversation. Uh, somebody else too, somebody
- 37:16Speaker 1: else something about DMX and his like his ability to
- 37:20Speaker 1: convey pain through his voice. That's what it is. It
- 37:23Speaker 1: is crazy, that's what it is. Bro. Like those prayers
- 37:26Speaker 1: on his albums. Ship Man, I was crying to one
- 37:29Speaker 1: of his songs that Nigga said. I forgive what it was,
- 37:33Speaker 1: but I cried. I cried even on the slipping I'm falling,
- 37:37Speaker 1: I can't get up. That's my when that come on
- 37:40Speaker 1: that whole Belly, when he played Belly, when he played Tommy, yep, yeah,
- 37:45Speaker 1: that's I function with dude, heavy, straight up. And then
- 37:49Speaker 1: he got the beautiful struggle he endured. You watching him struggle,
- 37:52Speaker 1: whether through the drug abuse, through the going to jail,
- 37:55Speaker 1: blse a real one. He's just naturally a real one.
- 37:59Speaker 1: You know what I don't I hate about our generation
- 38:01Speaker 1: is like like a lot of people try to shame
- 38:04Speaker 1: DMX because of his demons, but nowadays it's like that's
- 38:08Speaker 1: just a normal business. That Nigga said, she with me,
- 38:11Speaker 1: then she hugged me, kissed me on my forehead, told
- 38:14Speaker 1: me that she loved me. I saw that and her too.
- 38:17Speaker 1: More than it hurt me. I'm thinking, damn, man, how
- 38:19Speaker 1: bad could this hurt be? I know now that what
- 38:22Speaker 1: you did was all out of love. What I wouldn't
- 38:25Speaker 1: do for one more hug from grandmom Baby, It's gonna
- 38:29Speaker 1: be okay. Yeah, that's my shit right there like that,
- 38:35Speaker 1: just that type of shit. Before my grandmother passed. That
- 38:38Speaker 1: was my favorite song when my grandmother past. It's saw
- 38:41Speaker 1: I slacked crazy. Ye shout out to DMX that I
- 38:46Speaker 1: feel like that's something that's in the room of possibilities.
- 38:48Speaker 1: He'd be hopping on. He'd be hopping on people shit sometimes. Nah,
- 38:52Speaker 1: I'm finna go get him. You know, I don't even
- 38:54Speaker 1: buy versus. I don't pay for versus. That's what you've
- 38:56Speaker 1: never paid for first thus far, man, I'm like, a
- 39:00Speaker 1: all this rip is you know, don't I ain't got
- 39:02Speaker 1: shit clear, We ain't gonna let's keep that clear. Yeah,
- 39:05Speaker 1: I didn't got some ship clear man. I didn't pay
- 39:07Speaker 1: for Niggs to come show up for the video player.
- 39:10Speaker 1: I'm saying, get them right, But I'm I'm majority of
- 39:14Speaker 1: my features and collaborations, it's people that I genuinely fuck
- 39:18Speaker 1: with and they genuinely fuck with me. Yeah, so I
- 39:21Speaker 1: don't never I ain't never really went out my way,
- 39:23Speaker 1: but a DMX, Erica Badou my dog just got the
- 39:27Speaker 1: Anthony Hamilton them like my three that I I cast
- 39:31Speaker 1: out on spot. Let's go. I just want to work
- 39:34Speaker 1: with you, DMX because that's my childhood. That's when he
- 39:38Speaker 1: when I feel like you, I can hear DMX and
- 39:41Speaker 1: your sh that's my Erica Bado. That's my childhood. I
- 39:44Speaker 1: just that's what we was. And then you know, Anthony Hamilton,
- 39:48Speaker 1: that's Grannie. I ain't know nothing about it, Anthony Hamilton.
- 39:51Speaker 1: Granny took me to a show, a little concert, and
- 39:55Speaker 1: you know, I ain't even want to go with her.
- 39:56Speaker 1: I'm like, you know, that's old folks. Shit, she already
- 39:58Speaker 1: doing oh O G. I was raised by Granny, so
- 40:02Speaker 1: she'd go to old restaurants, old shows, and I ain't
- 40:05Speaker 1: got time for this. I'm seventeen, sixteen, seventeen or something.
- 40:08Speaker 1: I'm thugging, you know what I'm saying. I'm banging old work,
- 40:11Speaker 1: Fourth Avenue, Bluff. I'm right, yeah, I'm not aware. I
- 40:14Speaker 1: go to the show now, coming from where I'm from,
- 40:16Speaker 1: album was crazy what I go to the show? Bray
- 40:18Speaker 1: took me to church for sure, coming from Round Front album,
- 40:22Speaker 1: I know that whole album. Today, Classic album did a
- 40:26Speaker 1: lot of yeah. Yeah, that's my dog though. Anthony Hamilton,
- 40:29Speaker 1: he just knocked something out for me too word oh shit.
- 40:33Speaker 1: A song for it dedicated to Granny. It was supposed
- 40:36Speaker 1: to make the album, but I'm saying me my management
- 40:39Speaker 1: pump fake know I'm a highlighting about it, Fucking Dave.
- 40:43Speaker 1: I mean how much? I mean, I already know you
- 40:45Speaker 1: already got most. I mean you gotta be how many
- 40:47Speaker 1: records you're sitting on right now, bro, at least a
- 40:49Speaker 1: forty pip nine. I'm just talking about dope shit, crazy shit,
- 40:53Speaker 1: at least a little fody pip I'm talking about album material,
- 40:57Speaker 1: shit that I approved, like, yeah, we could put something
- 40:59Speaker 1: together other thing, you know, outside of what I approve,
- 41:02Speaker 1: I got crazy shit. I just you know, it be
- 41:04Speaker 1: what you call them, like scraps. They just be all
- 41:06Speaker 1: types of scraps where niggas just go in there, do
- 41:08Speaker 1: a verse in the hook and never do it, never right,
- 41:12Speaker 1: and then pull it up four years later, like no,
- 41:14Speaker 1: sh it was fire, nigga. We could have made a
- 41:17Speaker 1: heat out of this YO with this album. I feel
- 41:19Speaker 1: like this has been the I feel like y'all's roll
- 41:22Speaker 1: out this go round has been so crazy, and it's
- 41:25Speaker 1: so crazy because we're in the middle of a quarantine.
- 41:27Speaker 1: You hear me, though, They lucky niggas is a lucky quarantine.
- 41:30Speaker 1: Slid up and shut shit down because they would have
- 41:33Speaker 1: got spunky. I'm talking by it. It got spunky on
- 41:36Speaker 1: them radio runs on this tour. It you know, we
- 41:40Speaker 1: would have caused here. It would have gave a lot
- 41:41Speaker 1: of niggas a lot of problems. Man. But I ain't
- 41:45Speaker 1: mad at it, man, I'm loving to support a lot
- 41:47Speaker 1: of people in the industry getting behind it. I'm just
- 41:50Speaker 1: I'm beyond appreciative. I let a whole album. It's really me.
- 41:54Speaker 1: It's an album that you know, if you ask nigga,
- 41:57Speaker 1: what album would you recommend if you're first time listener
- 42:00Speaker 1: of Mazi, it'll be beyond bulletproof. And not because it's
- 42:04Speaker 1: not because it's new right now now it's great. Not
- 42:07Speaker 1: it's because it's great. I got a lot of ship
- 42:11Speaker 1: where O G person they hear it and and with
- 42:15Speaker 1: mind their kids listening to it. You feel me versus
- 42:19Speaker 1: just you know what I'm saying, because it's some ship
- 42:21Speaker 1: that they they they ain't functioning what they come from. Mazie.
- 42:24Speaker 1: You know all that body for body right right right right, Nigga,
- 42:27Speaker 1: body at the body body ship they like, come on, man,
- 42:30Speaker 1: we not you know what I'm saying, But this beyond bulletproof.
- 42:33Speaker 1: It just got a lot of a lot of a
- 42:35Speaker 1: lot of just good game. Bro. I can't stress it enough,
- 42:38Speaker 1: a lot of good game. Do you feel the need
- 42:40Speaker 1: to move a little differently because I feel like, now, Mazie,
- 42:43Speaker 1: you're like, you know, you're that guy bro, like on
- 42:46Speaker 1: the low. You know what I'm saying, Like, like that's
- 42:49Speaker 1: the way I know you know you say you'd be ware.
- 42:51Speaker 1: A lot of these motherfucker rappers won't go. But I
- 42:53Speaker 1: think you know, we've seen that that can that can
- 42:56Speaker 1: turn ugly. You know it could get ugly. But like you,
- 43:00Speaker 1: I'm saying, these are the sacrifices we make just based
- 43:02Speaker 1: on these are people that's like, you ain't going to
- 43:05Speaker 1: your family reunion because it can get ugly. You're gonna
- 43:07Speaker 1: you're gonna you're gonna skip out on the family reunion
- 43:10Speaker 1: and going to see Granny and them because it can
- 43:12Speaker 1: get ugly. Nah, nigg I'm finna go see my people.
- 43:14Speaker 1: I'm finna go see my family. I'm finna go see
- 43:16Speaker 1: what with with what I consider home was close to
- 43:20Speaker 1: my heart with with the people who met that matter
- 43:23Speaker 1: that I could see the whole royal smile. But that
- 43:26Speaker 1: don't do nothing to me. I'm affected by seeing those
- 43:28Speaker 1: that I love dearly smell. That's what That's what that's
- 43:31Speaker 1: when it counts, that's when it makes sense. That's when
- 43:34Speaker 1: it's like, Okay, now we onw this something. I ain't
- 43:36Speaker 1: just do this for the benefit of self. I did
- 43:39Speaker 1: this so so we can all you know, I'm saying
- 43:41Speaker 1: me benefit from this situation. And how how how can
- 43:44Speaker 1: everybody benefit from the situation. If I'm scared to pull up,
- 43:48Speaker 1: if I'm scared to tap in, if I'm scared to
- 43:50Speaker 1: lock in with you, if I'm scared to vibe with you,
- 43:52Speaker 1: if I'm just scared of your kind, how can I
- 43:54Speaker 1: be afraid of my own kind? This is what I
- 43:56Speaker 1: do it for. So you know this, And that's why
- 43:59Speaker 1: I funk with Nip so much. He died behind you,
- 44:02Speaker 1: that Nigga died behind him. That's what he exactly about
- 44:05Speaker 1: what I'm talking about about not being afraid that the
- 44:09Speaker 1: function amongst your own kind. So uh, you know, that's
- 44:12Speaker 1: just the risk we take, man. And I felt like
- 44:14Speaker 1: I didn't. I didn't know. I didn't have a lot,
- 44:17Speaker 1: I didn't gambled a lot a lot more for a
- 44:20Speaker 1: lot less. That's fair man, have you because you know
- 44:26Speaker 1: you've been in your your fair share of beefs per se,
- 44:29Speaker 1: Now that you're at a certain level of success, do
- 44:32Speaker 1: you feel like you like let certain shit go or
- 44:36Speaker 1: like maybe like man Mozzi from three years ago might
- 44:38Speaker 1: have did this, now, I let a lot of shit go,
- 44:41Speaker 1: not only to my success, just because Yeah, you're right
- 44:44Speaker 1: due to the nornoriety. Man. You talk about being like
- 44:47Speaker 1: your self improved, Like I feel like you know what
- 44:48Speaker 1: I'm saying. You're right, man, I let a lot of
- 44:52Speaker 1: shit go, man, because I understand my position. I understand
- 44:55Speaker 1: what I mean to my people, and you know it.
- 45:00Speaker 1: I can't afford to go to jail them. Nigga's losing out,
- 45:02Speaker 1: So I let a lot of shit go straight up man.
- 45:05Speaker 1: And you know, but at the same time, I stand firm,
- 45:08Speaker 1: I stand on my principles. I stand firm, and you
- 45:12Speaker 1: know I'm gonna hold my own ground. I hold my
- 45:13Speaker 1: own ground, and Nigga play with me sentimental value. Never
- 45:16Speaker 1: said the thing you gave to me? Hey, who the
- 45:18Speaker 1: king of macamental? They gonna say, it's me. I ain't
- 45:21Speaker 1: trying to end up in the ping That shit gay
- 45:23Speaker 1: to me? Year mean that whole, that whole boy right there,
- 45:27Speaker 1: explain it? What's your favorite song on the album? All
- 45:30Speaker 1: of them motherfuckers. Every day anytime somebody asks me that.
- 45:33Speaker 1: One day it'd be Nigga behind I mean, bulletproofly, the
- 45:37Speaker 1: next day be betrayed. Then I'd be like, nah, today
- 45:40Speaker 1: Nigga unethical and deceitful. Then they'd be like, nah, the
- 45:43Speaker 1: homies want to know. Really the hardest. But I'm functioning
- 45:45Speaker 1: with that. You it's crazy, I can't it's whatever. Whatever
- 45:50Speaker 1: I'm feeling. So right now, what I'm feeling is the
- 45:55Speaker 1: homies want to know. Okay, yeah, the homies want to know.
- 45:59Speaker 1: We're Finnah drop the vio to that. I feel like
- 46:02Speaker 1: that that explains everything. That explains everything about the Alpum.
- 46:06Speaker 1: I mean, that's that's the core, that's the heartbeat of
- 46:08Speaker 1: the album. Is it harder to shoot the videos now?
- 46:11Speaker 1: If you have, like like the record with Polo G
- 46:12Speaker 1: or the record with Herbo, Like, are those like because
- 46:15Speaker 1: of what's going on? Like, it's fellow harder. I just
- 46:18Speaker 1: shot a Quarantine video. You gonna see that, motherfucker. But nah,
- 46:21Speaker 1: it's it's it's it's most definitely been a disturbance in
- 46:24Speaker 1: the videos due to the quarantine. It's a lot of
- 46:26Speaker 1: niggas I wanted to shoot with that, you know, the
- 46:30Speaker 1: quarantine didn't enable us to shoot with so. But it's
- 46:35Speaker 1: good though, because I got a lot of work down
- 46:37Speaker 1: before you feel me, before the virus even hit. I
- 46:42Speaker 1: cooked up and I got a lot of just good, good, good,
- 46:47Speaker 1: memorable moments for the roll out, and so I'm satisfied.
- 46:51Speaker 1: I ain't tripping it and the rest of it, the
- 46:53Speaker 1: rest of the songs I could do to the necklace.
- 46:55Speaker 1: So it's been gucci. I made it work in my favor.
- 46:58Speaker 1: We ain't gonna make no excuses. Well the album is out. Uh,
- 47:02Speaker 1: great body of work, man, beyond bulletproof. Y'ay snatch, go
- 47:06Speaker 1: get that mother immediately. You heard better. Better man, great
- 47:10Speaker 1: body of work, great body work, the dopest ship that
- 47:13Speaker 1: I've dropped thus far. Just that one or one up
- 47:16Speaker 1: talk for me for sure. That's my boy. I needed
- 47:19Speaker 1: somebody to tell me that. No, no, not the I
- 47:23Speaker 1: mean I think they're on part with each other, Yo, Mazzi,
- 47:25Speaker 1: thank you for coming through. Brother. Appreciate the plaque too. Bro,
- 47:28Speaker 1: mom man, you know you're the fella fella, man, you
- 47:30Speaker 1: already know I appreciate the unwavering love and support y'all
- 47:34Speaker 1: have been functioning with me. It feels like since day one,
- 47:37Speaker 1: not a dead every time we interview somebody, I always
- 47:39Speaker 1: try to figure out a way to bring you up, like,
- 47:46Speaker 1: appreciate you broney all day perfectly boom
