- 0:03Speaker 1: suitable for all audiences. Listener discretion is advised. Welcome to
- 0:10Speaker 1: patriot It's unfiltered. NaSTA, get your shovel muscles ready, my
- 0:16Speaker 1: arran snowblowers still in the shop, plows and most go
- 0:19Speaker 1: on the app. There's an app. I try to learn
- 0:22Speaker 1: Deuce into these things. He never like jumps in. Maybe
- 0:25Speaker 1: I can get Deuce on my side and he just
- 0:27Speaker 1: like sits on the sideline. You have Tarantula's right this tarantulas, scorpions, scorpions, scorpions.
- 0:33Speaker 1: That's what that's actually what I meant with scorpions. That's
- 0:36Speaker 1: the same, the same, Justin writes, And please tell Deuce
- 0:39Speaker 1: to stop doing that thing with his voice. What is
- 0:41Speaker 1: that thing I'm speaking again? Deuce will just sit in
- 0:44Speaker 1: the sun and he will not say anything, will just
- 0:47Speaker 1: make faces and will not say we don't know, We'll
- 0:51Speaker 1: never know. We got no, no, no no, we got I
- 0:54Speaker 1: have a meeting it too. You might have time, but
- 0:56Speaker 1: I have worked in all. This is Patriot's Unfiltered, led
- 1:00Speaker 1: by Duncan. All right, welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. It is Tuesday.
- 1:06Speaker 1: Here we go. It's a big day, so much to
- 1:11Speaker 1: talk about. And I mean, we had the games this
- 1:15Speaker 1: weekend which were fun to watch, and but I think
- 1:19Speaker 1: we have to jump right in with the announcement by
- 1:23Speaker 1: Brady on his Instagram today that he's retiring. You know,
- 1:26Speaker 1: that's news. Even though Schefter told us it was going
- 1:30Speaker 1: to happen over the weekend, it's official now. But man,
- 1:34Speaker 1: Patriots Nation is in an uproar in the fact that
- 1:37Speaker 1: he didn't mention the Patriots New England, the crafts Bill
- 1:41Speaker 1: Belichick and I can understand that. I can understand why
- 1:46Speaker 1: people are like, hey, what's going on. I just want
- 1:50Speaker 1: to wait a minute, you know, I think something's coming,
- 1:53Speaker 1: But I can't imagine that he would, you know, be
- 1:57Speaker 1: so petty as to do that on purpose. You know,
- 2:01Speaker 1: like I don't get them right. You know, there's got
- 2:04Speaker 1: to be something to that. And I could be wrong.
- 2:06Speaker 1: It doesn't look good. I could be It doesn't doesn't
- 2:08Speaker 1: look good. It doesn't look good right now, you're right,
- 2:11Speaker 1: But it's not gonna look good after you don't know that,
- 2:14Speaker 1: because it's gonna look like whatever you did after whatever
- 2:17Speaker 1: he does after the fact, is going to look like
- 2:19Speaker 1: he's trying to make up for the mistake that he
- 2:20Speaker 1: made by not including them in this. Let's wait to
- 2:22Speaker 1: see if in what it is to make, you know, okay,
- 2:25Speaker 1: let's let's assume that he does some big extravag ends,
- 2:28Speaker 1: or there's a parade, there's all kinds of nonsense. Whatever,
- 2:32Speaker 1: it's still would it have killed him to put in
- 2:35Speaker 1: a line and say, hey, thanks to everybody in New
- 2:37Speaker 1: England for my twenty years there. It doesn't sound like
- 2:39Speaker 1: it would. I mean, but it seems a little. It
- 2:42Speaker 1: is a little bizarre. It's weird. It's weird, it's odd,
- 2:45Speaker 1: it is there's no I'm not one of those fans
- 2:48Speaker 1: that generally gets, you know, affected by these kinds of things.
- 2:52Speaker 1: But even if he does what you think, and I
- 2:54Speaker 1: agree with you one hundred percent, for we talked about
- 2:56Speaker 1: this already off the off air, I think something else
- 2:59Speaker 1: is coming. But I don't understand why he couldn't have
- 3:04Speaker 1: included the patriots in that nine page yea opus um
- 3:08Speaker 1: and still done whatever he plans to do right separate
- 3:11Speaker 1: for the pagriot Like what what what harm would that
- 3:13Speaker 1: have been? Oh? Now I can't you know, go up
- 3:17Speaker 1: and have a press conference with Robert Kraft introducing me
- 3:20Speaker 1: and give me a red jacket A probably writing the
- 3:22Speaker 1: Hall of Fame. I'm just spitballing him. Yeah no, right,
- 3:24Speaker 1: so you know it does seem odd yeah, yeah, And
- 3:29Speaker 1: that's and he's usually pretty conscious of these things, like
- 3:32Speaker 1: I mean, they're pretty social media exactly. It just seems
- 3:35Speaker 1: like an omission. And when I first started reading it,
- 3:37Speaker 1: I didn't realize there were like twelve different They kept
- 3:40Speaker 1: going on Twitter like um, and so first I was like, like,
- 3:44Speaker 1: I retweeted one, not realizing there was about twenty seven
- 3:47Speaker 1: the panels I was when I saw the first one,
- 3:49Speaker 1: I was like, well, he didn't really mention it. And
- 3:50Speaker 1: then you start going through and it'sycle the Bucks okay,
- 3:53Speaker 1: and then all the Bucks coach out, and then Alex
- 3:54Speaker 1: and then his family. You know, I really started going
- 3:57Speaker 1: down the list like a little bit. Didn't Michigan get
- 4:01Speaker 1: Lloyd car Did he get to thank you? Probably not him.
- 4:05Speaker 1: I guess maybe something else is coming. I think that's
- 4:07Speaker 1: the scuttle butte ridiculous. There is a theory out there,
- 4:12Speaker 1: and you know, I'll just throw it out there that
- 4:16Speaker 1: the Patriots or somebody in the Patriots who knew he
- 4:18Speaker 1: was going to retire is or are the ones who
- 4:22Speaker 1: leaked it? And he's pissed. Wow, you know, I don't
- 4:27Speaker 1: see that. I don't know. He still seems so like
- 4:30Speaker 1: he would just continue to do what he does right
- 4:34Speaker 1: and not. You know, it's right. He never got into
- 4:38Speaker 1: the weeks, got into the dirt and all that stuff.
- 4:42Speaker 1: I don't know about that. What do you mean? But
- 4:44Speaker 1: he's always been above the phrase, not behind the scenes.
- 4:46Speaker 1: He hasn't been no no, but he's publicly Yeah, he's
- 4:49Speaker 1: got a very well crafted public. Yes, right, Yeah, But
- 4:52Speaker 1: I don't see the whole Patriots leaking the retirement. That's
- 4:59Speaker 1: the only reason I I can think of where he's like,
- 5:01Speaker 1: you know what, I'm just gonna leave them out for now.
- 5:03Speaker 1: That it's odd And I would love to sit here
- 5:06Speaker 1: and tell everybody they're being children and childish, but I don't.
- 5:11Speaker 1: It's it's odd no matter what. Yeah, it doesn't bug
- 5:14Speaker 1: me because you know, I had no personal, real, real
- 5:17Speaker 1: personal connection to Tom Brady. He's a player for the
- 5:20Speaker 1: team that I rooted for a hundred years and he
- 5:22Speaker 1: won more than anybody else. Like I, I just thought
- 5:26Speaker 1: it was strange, and I still think it's strange. Regardless
- 5:28Speaker 1: of what happens from here on in exactly will think
- 5:30Speaker 1: it's strange. I think it was strange, just that that
- 5:32Speaker 1: it came out to be like no on the Chefter
- 5:35Speaker 1: reports Saturday, and then three days later he's got like
- 5:37Speaker 1: a Twitter last night. Last night he said he was
- 5:41Speaker 1: still calling things, Yeah, twell you know what eight eight
- 5:45Speaker 1: ten hours later he says, yeah, I have a well
- 5:50Speaker 1: crafted US saying why why I'm stepping away? I thought
- 5:54Speaker 1: that was weird. We all knew he was, you know,
- 5:56Speaker 1: we all knew that that chef, Like if you into
- 6:00Speaker 1: the Jim Great thing, you'd think, well, he's still got
- 6:02Speaker 1: a few more weeks of thinking about this. But then
- 6:05Speaker 1: the very next day he has this opus on Instagram.
- 6:10Speaker 1: So that was weird too. You know what's funny is
- 6:14Speaker 1: Friday night, Jason lackinfora he broke mapped out the whole thing, yea,
- 6:19Speaker 1: of the timeline of the retirement and how it was
- 6:22Speaker 1: was gonna like no one even remembers that he was
- 6:25Speaker 1: kind of first with it, right. Everybody credited Darlington and
- 6:28Speaker 1: Schefter on Saturday. So like, that's that's why I don't
- 6:32Speaker 1: really think it was the pay. It was out there
- 6:35Speaker 1: and I never once for a second thought it wasn't true,
- 6:38Speaker 1: Like there was a lot of pushback to ESPN, because
- 6:40Speaker 1: that's what you do, right, you make fun of ESPN.
- 6:44Speaker 1: I never once thought for a second that that wasn't true. Yeah,
- 6:47Speaker 1: I think it'd be too bold for Schefter to come
- 6:50Speaker 1: out that definitively unless he knew yeah, you know, unflinching
- 6:54Speaker 1: too right afterwards. Yeah, but this is how things go
- 6:57Speaker 1: with I mean, and it was this plan out. That's
- 7:00Speaker 1: why it's Yeah, so something else. I don't know what
- 7:03Speaker 1: else we can say about this other than I can
- 7:05Speaker 1: underst you know, for me, I can understand why people
- 7:08Speaker 1: are like, what that? What the hell? Excuse me. I'm
- 7:12Speaker 1: still a little surprised, what the hell? But I do
- 7:14Speaker 1: think it will it will become clear in short order. Yeah,
- 7:20Speaker 1: I'm just I mean, bigger picture, I'm just surprised. I
- 7:23Speaker 1: think he's still at the top of his game yet
- 7:24Speaker 1: an MVP type season. Um, you know, I just I
- 7:27Speaker 1: thought he'd have another year or two in him. And
- 7:29Speaker 1: I think he always wondered will he go out on
- 7:32Speaker 1: his own terms, or will it be an injury or
- 7:34Speaker 1: he's starting to really backslide, And it's just not happening anymore.
- 7:37Speaker 1: So he went out when he still had some football
- 7:40Speaker 1: in it. I think he realized, you know, because he
- 7:42Speaker 1: always said I don't want to suck. Yeah, I think
- 7:45Speaker 1: he realized waiting until I suck is going to take
- 7:47Speaker 1: too long, so I just gotta end it. Okay. So
- 7:50Speaker 1: I agree with you. I would rather talk about stuff
- 7:53Speaker 1: like that if we're going to continue to talk about
- 7:55Speaker 1: Brady yeah, rather than well, we're gonna get into the game.
- 7:58Speaker 1: I want to be a butt hurt that he didn't say,
- 8:00Speaker 1: you know, I thank you guys. Um, I mean, I
- 8:03Speaker 1: mean you should like it's unbelievable that the Twitter reaction
- 8:06Speaker 1: is dulous. It was immediate, and by im mediate, like fans,
- 8:11Speaker 1: I get it. Fans are emotional, you got that connection.
- 8:13Speaker 1: I get it, fans. That's why we're fans. You're fanatical,
- 8:16Speaker 1: right the mediate people? Oh, where's my I can't believe,
- 8:22Speaker 1: like I'm shouted that he wouldn't think no mention if
- 8:26Speaker 1: Fox were like unbelievable, the media and not everybody, but
- 8:32Speaker 1: a lot of people, yeah, a lot of people. Yeah. Um,
- 8:36Speaker 1: I like your your you know sort of theory is
- 8:40Speaker 1: like why now? And I know it's on the service
- 8:43Speaker 1: sounds silly. He's gonna be forty five and in August, like,
- 8:46Speaker 1: well why now? Um, do you think that it's like
- 8:49Speaker 1: an indication that he sees the writing on the wall
- 8:53Speaker 1: in Tampa and that he doesn't think he'll be able
- 8:54Speaker 1: to compete next year. I think that was part of it.
- 8:57Speaker 1: I think it was a lot of factors. Yeah, like that,
- 9:00Speaker 1: that was one of them, Like that it was gonna
- 9:01Speaker 1: start getting to the point where it was in twenty
- 9:03Speaker 1: nineteen here where he was last. I'm gonna keep playing.
- 9:06Speaker 1: I want to keep winning. Yeah, you know, I think
- 9:08Speaker 1: based on the year he had, He's crazy if he
- 9:10Speaker 1: thinks that way. Based on the year he just had,
- 9:13Speaker 1: there's no question in my mind, if he returned to
- 9:15Speaker 1: the Tampa Bay Box, they would be a contender in
- 9:17Speaker 1: the NFC. But what if there's a lot of other
- 9:19Speaker 1: nonsense that he doesn't want to put up with. Oh
- 9:21Speaker 1: that's different. I'm talking about being able to compete for
- 9:24Speaker 1: a title. Yeah, part of it too. I mean, I think,
- 9:25Speaker 1: you know, when he left here, it was probably invigorating
- 9:27Speaker 1: to go to a new place and it's all new,
- 9:29Speaker 1: and obviously they had a lot of good players. But
- 9:31Speaker 1: I think as you stay in a place longer, it
- 9:34Speaker 1: becomes a grind and a lot of teams, I mean,
- 9:35Speaker 1: how long can you maintain it? But I mean you
- 9:37Speaker 1: gotta agree with Paul, like they would be right in
- 9:40Speaker 1: the mix of it. You look at what New Orleans
- 9:41Speaker 1: is doing, Carolina Atlanta. I mean, they would still have
- 9:44Speaker 1: the division if they if they wanted it, even you know,
- 9:47Speaker 1: even if they're not able to retain everybody. But I
- 9:50Speaker 1: just think maybe he's looking at it like do I
- 9:52Speaker 1: have another full season? Can I still play? Yes? But
- 9:55Speaker 1: do I have the mental toughness to not toughness. I
- 9:57Speaker 1: don't want to say that to say that he's not
- 9:58Speaker 1: mentally because he's of course, but it does to go
- 10:03Speaker 1: through the whole ups and downs, the challenges, the injuries,
- 10:06Speaker 1: the you know, guys coming and going. We know there
- 10:08Speaker 1: was drama down there this year too, but just everything
- 10:10Speaker 1: that goes into an I mean, he also did mention
- 10:12Speaker 1: when was it was it postgame or sometimes since the
- 10:18Speaker 1: last game that he played. When he was quoted, he
- 10:21Speaker 1: mentioned something about his family and commitments to his family,
- 10:24Speaker 1: and you know, maybe he signed a two year deal
- 10:27Speaker 1: with Tampa, right yea, So maybe the agreement was with
- 10:30Speaker 1: Gazelle was like, okay, you played through this contract and
- 10:34Speaker 1: that is it, Tom, you owe us? After all, he
- 10:36Speaker 1: had another year in his contract, he said, one more
- 10:38Speaker 1: he had he signed a two year deal after he
- 10:40Speaker 1: went to Tampa for one year. Oh yeah, so he
- 10:43Speaker 1: had Okay, well he had one year that he signed
- 10:47Speaker 1: the original one year, twenty five million dollars contract. Yeah,
- 10:50Speaker 1: then after last year he signed a two year deal
- 10:52Speaker 1: to stay. Okay, okay, okay, I think it was after
- 10:55Speaker 1: last year, but he had another year on his contract.
- 10:57Speaker 1: That's why he's owed fifteen million. Both thought that that
- 11:00Speaker 1: had something to do with right, you know why pushback
- 11:03Speaker 1: on Saturday? Yeah, because he's owed fifteen million or something
- 11:06Speaker 1: by the fourth Yeah, I think that's right. Yeah, So
- 11:10Speaker 1: I think there's some different things along those lines. But
- 11:13Speaker 1: I mean there's a million things, like we know of
- 11:16Speaker 1: TB twelve and we knew this no new Brady, but
- 11:18Speaker 1: there could be a million other business opportunities that he
- 11:21Speaker 1: has in front of him that he can't do if
- 11:24Speaker 1: he's playing football. Yeah, so this it's all in place.
- 11:27Speaker 1: It could be a million things. Why Now do you
- 11:29Speaker 1: think Gronkos too? Now? Yeah, well I think I think
- 11:32Speaker 1: I think yeah, yeah, because I think he only came
- 11:35Speaker 1: back because he I was playing with Tom. Yeah, so
- 11:37Speaker 1: again my quarterback. He looked like old Gronk this year
- 11:40Speaker 1: a little bit. I mean he was really I mean
- 11:42Speaker 1: sometimes yeah, yeah, yeah, sometimes I think he looked like
- 11:45Speaker 1: a good tight end. Again, I don't think you looked
- 11:47Speaker 1: like not not like Hunter Henry or anything. Yeah. Right,
- 11:51Speaker 1: So that's so, that's ready, And we'll take emails and
- 11:54Speaker 1: calls and if people want to talk about that, we
- 11:56Speaker 1: will certainly talk about it. But I also want to
- 11:58Speaker 1: talk about the games that you know, uh Josh Lee
- 12:02Speaker 1: right yeah. By the way, yeah, and this is why
- 12:06Speaker 1: I'll get back to our our meeting that we have
- 12:08Speaker 1: every Tuesday. I think this is an underrated resource and
- 12:11Speaker 1: we need to do more, not less. Oh, by the way,
- 12:14Speaker 1: Josh McDaniel's going to be the head coach of the
- 12:17Speaker 1: Vegas Raiders. I was wrong. I was wrong, But I mean,
- 12:19Speaker 1: and Paul and I were talking about it. I think
- 12:22Speaker 1: it's a good opportunity for him. And obviously with Dave's
- 12:24Speaker 1: Eagler being there, he's got you know, a shorthand with him.
- 12:28Speaker 1: I had a laugh though in his press conference, you know,
- 12:32Speaker 1: I was very selective. Blah blah blah. You know, Las
- 12:36Speaker 1: Vegas is the right place, come on, but new stadium,
- 12:41Speaker 1: it's a you know, built in fan base. I mean,
- 12:43Speaker 1: I I can make a case for the Raiders over
- 12:45Speaker 1: a lot and I know the Raiders have some bagage
- 12:47Speaker 1: and a lot of that connected probably to Al Davis
- 12:49Speaker 1: and you know. But I think currently the situation, it's
- 12:52Speaker 1: it's it's good for him. He's got some pieces in
- 12:53Speaker 1: place to use. Um, you know, just interesting to hop
- 12:57Speaker 1: go from like Brady to Cam to Mac this year
- 12:59Speaker 1: as a rook and now he's going to go to
- 13:01Speaker 1: a new veteran quarterback and you don't have to kind
- 13:03Speaker 1: of teach him the system. So I wonder how David
- 13:05Speaker 1: car is going to do with all that. But but
- 13:07Speaker 1: I think it's a good move for him and the Patriots.
- 13:09Speaker 1: It's wide open now what I mean. I said to
- 13:12Speaker 1: Paul this morning. It kind of feels like Belichick's left
- 13:14Speaker 1: standing alone here right now. And there's been a considerable
- 13:18Speaker 1: emigration from the Patriots over the last four years. So
- 13:22Speaker 1: do guys come back to old Guys who are free
- 13:24Speaker 1: now come back that left over the last few years
- 13:27Speaker 1: and now looking for a job. Or or do we
- 13:29Speaker 1: see guys, younger guys DeMarcus Covington, Mick Lombardi, younger coaches
- 13:33Speaker 1: who have been here for a little bit today ascend. Yeah,
- 13:36Speaker 1: I mean that's just that's that's been the way Bill
- 13:40Speaker 1: likes to do it is bring these guys up, haven't
- 13:42Speaker 1: touch a lot of things, and then they're ready for
- 13:44Speaker 1: a title. But at this point in Bill's career, I
- 13:46Speaker 1: think he needs some experienced help. Yeah, you know, and
- 13:49Speaker 1: not Matt Patricia as offensive at least on one side
- 13:52Speaker 1: of the ball, because right now it feels like it's
- 13:54Speaker 1: it's all on him both sides of the ball. And
- 13:55Speaker 1: I mean, we know what we need from the offense
- 13:58Speaker 1: and the defense is a rebuild. I mean I think
- 14:00Speaker 1: they need another another veteran coach. And I mean I
- 14:02Speaker 1: know Andy was thrown it out there if Matt Patricia
- 14:04Speaker 1: being the defense or offensive coordinator, but you know, he's
- 14:07Speaker 1: an experienced coach, so I mean, I think he'll probably
- 14:10Speaker 1: stay in that role. But I think you could use
- 14:12Speaker 1: another guy like that, somebody who you can say, like
- 14:13Speaker 1: you Couba Josh, you got the offense for the most part.
- 14:16Speaker 1: I mean, I do it with both sides of the ball.
- 14:18Speaker 1: Could you get a defensive and an offensive guy and
- 14:20Speaker 1: you know, let Bill kind of get back to overseeing everything. Well,
- 14:23Speaker 1: the question that I would have is how many of
- 14:25Speaker 1: these veteran experienced coaches would want to come here absolutely
- 14:29Speaker 1: at this point, like I mean, you know, like that
- 14:31Speaker 1: Jerry Shoplinsky's of the World, the Chattow Show, whoever it is.
- 14:34Speaker 1: But they might be looking at it like, well, how
- 14:36Speaker 1: long much longer does Bill really have? And you know,
- 14:39Speaker 1: you know how great a quarterback is Mac Jones, And
- 14:43Speaker 1: look at that defense. There's a lot of work that
- 14:44Speaker 1: needs to be done talent wise, I mean, there's a
- 14:46Speaker 1: lot of turnover. There's that's a you're gonna have a
- 14:48Speaker 1: relatively young personnel staff because Ziggler's gone, and there are
- 14:52Speaker 1: a lot of other guy I mean, there are guys
- 14:53Speaker 1: who've been here for a while, but not a lot
- 14:55Speaker 1: of them. No, I mean when you look through this
- 14:57Speaker 1: media guy and you see who's in the scouting department,
- 14:59Speaker 1: so a lot of pretty young guys who it is,
- 15:01Speaker 1: you know, I mean guys like Mac Row, Brian Smith,
- 15:04Speaker 1: Steve Cargile. Those are guys who you could see ascending
- 15:07Speaker 1: to take where over where Ziegler was, but like even
- 15:11Speaker 1: when Ziegler took over for um Casio, you were looking
- 15:16Speaker 1: at like that's a name that not a lot of
- 15:17Speaker 1: Patriots fans knew before Cassario left. You know, Cassario had
- 15:21Speaker 1: been here for a long time, had done a lot
- 15:22Speaker 1: of things. And the reason he's here is because look
- 15:25Speaker 1: at all the people that left in personnel, starting with
- 15:27Speaker 1: John Robinson, right, and and people like that. I mean
- 15:30Speaker 1: there's been a lot of brain drain and personnel as well. Yeah,
- 15:34Speaker 1: you know, yeah, it's and you left. I mean there's
- 15:39Speaker 1: a lot of guys going back to Jason Light, go
- 15:41Speaker 1: back to Paoli and Thomas Dimitroz right, twenty yeah, Quinns,
- 15:45Speaker 1: Austin Fort Robinson. Yeah, now you know this latest uh
- 15:49Speaker 1: you know, Jason Light, if you want to go way back,
- 15:52Speaker 1: I mean literally, I mean it's a dozen guys, yeah,
- 15:55Speaker 1: but it's it's been turnover in that department. Yeah yeah, yeah.
- 15:59Speaker 1: And then I know some speculation of Bill O'Brien maybe,
- 16:02Speaker 1: but you know, if it's not Bill O'Brien, I mean,
- 16:04Speaker 1: are you changing the offense a little bit? Are you
- 16:06Speaker 1: bringing somebody in that, you know, to keep content continuity
- 16:10Speaker 1: with Mac you know, I mean that might be the
- 16:12Speaker 1: case of promoting from within, or do you bring in
- 16:15Speaker 1: somebody completely new who is you know, maybe gonna change
- 16:17Speaker 1: your offense a little bit. But you know, and we
- 16:20Speaker 1: talk about it like, you know, the offense like it's
- 16:23Speaker 1: some like secret sauce, the KFC recipe or the Coca
- 16:26Speaker 1: Cola rest. It's offense. It's football, Okay. So if you
- 16:30Speaker 1: bring in an Adam Gasee or somebody like that from
- 16:33Speaker 1: the outside, and you know, you hand him the playbook,
- 16:36Speaker 1: it's not like, you know, it's Greek to him. Yeah,
- 16:38Speaker 1: you know, it's not like you can't continue what Mac
- 16:41Speaker 1: has learned. He doesn't necessarily have to start over. You know. Yeah,
- 16:46Speaker 1: any new offensive corder you're gonna bring their own things.
- 16:48Speaker 1: I just, you know, I wonder the just the continuity
- 16:51Speaker 1: of Belichick and wanting what he wants with from within
- 16:53Speaker 1: the playbook and how do you I mean, it was
- 16:55Speaker 1: a question I was, you know, kind of curious about
- 16:57Speaker 1: when they had um last year the quarter back coaching
- 17:00Speaker 1: went to Arizona Judge Fish. Yeah, you know, how does
- 17:02Speaker 1: a coach come in and not only learn the system
- 17:05Speaker 1: in an offseason, but then be able to teach it
- 17:07Speaker 1: as well. It's just a challenging thing. So I'm not
- 17:10Speaker 1: overly like, oh no, the sky is falling with mac
- 17:13Speaker 1: Jones in the offense. I think it could be a
- 17:14Speaker 1: good thing. And like you said, offenses offense, he's played
- 17:17Speaker 1: for offensive coordinators before he'll be able to do it.
- 17:20Speaker 1: H And I am interested to see, you know, how
- 17:22Speaker 1: things switch a little bit, how things change, how somebody
- 17:24Speaker 1: else maybe looks at this personnel and tries to employ
- 17:27Speaker 1: it perhaps a little bit differently. Yeah. I mean, anytime
- 17:30Speaker 1: you you move on from an a coordinator, you're gonna
- 17:32Speaker 1: want to switch up some things. You know. Josh is
- 17:35Speaker 1: now the competition. He knows our playbook inside and out,
- 17:40Speaker 1: and we play the raids by the way, right, you know,
- 17:43Speaker 1: So it's not like you're gonna want to like not
- 17:45Speaker 1: switch things up, right, you know? Now? Have we heard
- 17:47Speaker 1: and all I'm sorry, Oh, I'm just gonna just gonna
- 17:50Speaker 1: add to that. Have we heard at all any speculation
- 17:53Speaker 1: as to any coaches on this staff who are going
- 17:55Speaker 1: with Josh, any personnel people speculation, but nobody knows. I
- 18:00Speaker 1: don't even really hurt speculation, but I would expect it
- 18:02Speaker 1: to be somebody. Yeah, and be almost impossible not to
- 18:06Speaker 1: bring or he taps some of those older coaches, you know,
- 18:08Speaker 1: the Joe Judges of the world. The flores Is as
- 18:11Speaker 1: special teams defensive coordinator, those kind of things. Does that
- 18:14Speaker 1: put the Raiders in play for those guys? Yeah, I
- 18:16Speaker 1: mean flores is now a candidate down in uh New
- 18:19Speaker 1: Orleans and Houston and Houston interview with Houston yesterday and
- 18:22Speaker 1: supposedly New Orleans today. If I were Flora's if I
- 18:24Speaker 1: don't get a head coaching job, I would sit it out. Yeah,
- 18:27Speaker 1: because it's pretty clear that he's still a pretty hot commodity. Yeah.
- 18:32Speaker 1: So so that's Josh. We'll hear more about what's going
- 18:35Speaker 1: on and how that affects the Patriots in the coming weeks.
- 18:39Speaker 1: Um the game. So it's Cincinnati and the Wrong amazing. Yeah.
- 18:45Speaker 1: I was about to turn it off with Kansas City
- 18:47Speaker 1: because it just looked like Kansas City was going to
- 18:49Speaker 1: roll on man at that one stand at the at
- 18:52Speaker 1: the at the end of the half, that guy like
- 18:54Speaker 1: just turn it. I was joking, but I was kind
- 18:56Speaker 1: of like your speech. I was ready to just like
- 18:58Speaker 1: I'm gonna go cook something at him. Need to be
- 19:00Speaker 1: glued to it every second now, um, but it just
- 19:02Speaker 1: seemed like the game changed on that in that goal
- 19:04Speaker 1: line play at the end of the first half. Yeah, totally.
- 19:07Speaker 1: And for some reason, Patrick, I just kept the Chiefs
- 19:11Speaker 1: to kick into gear and have a three play drive
- 19:13Speaker 1: where they just go right through him, like buttah. I
- 19:15Speaker 1: think I think Mahomes forgot that he can run in
- 19:21Speaker 1: the second half, like just just run, yeah, just run,
- 19:25Speaker 1: use your legs, you know. I just think he I
- 19:28Speaker 1: don't know why. I don't have any explanation, but it's
- 19:30Speaker 1: as bad as I've ever seen him play in the
- 19:31Speaker 1: second half. And I can never ever recall a game
- 19:35Speaker 1: that he was singularly responsible for the Chiefs losing. Until Sunday. Yeah,
- 19:39Speaker 1: I thought I'd like to blame it on the fiance.
- 19:44Speaker 1: I thought he had all kinds of open receivers that
- 19:47Speaker 1: he just wild It was wildly inaccurate, throwing the ball
- 19:50Speaker 1: to the flats, to the backs, to the little hitch routes,
- 19:53Speaker 1: the one in overtime that he threw right to Eli Apple.
- 19:56Speaker 1: I don't know if that maybe that maybe that was
- 19:57Speaker 1: a miscommunication or something, but judging on the rest of
- 20:01Speaker 1: the second half, I'm putting it on the Homes. I
- 20:02Speaker 1: think he was really really bad starting with that play
- 20:05Speaker 1: on the last player of the first half, and it
- 20:07Speaker 1: just continued the rest of the game. Such a dramatic
- 20:10Speaker 1: term within the game. I just end though, Listen, I
- 20:13Speaker 1: got and you know, I hate the Bengals for you know,
- 20:16Speaker 1: particular reason, but I kind of like Joe Burrow. He's cool.
- 20:21Speaker 1: He's a cool guy. You know. It's it's refreshing to
- 20:25Speaker 1: see a guy come in just have the balls that
- 20:27Speaker 1: he has, ye know, but that can overcome that kind
- 20:30Speaker 1: of like sort of institutional incompetence. Right, That's that's impressive.
- 20:35Speaker 1: They're right, And that was kind of mean and Paul
- 20:37Speaker 1: talking about that this morning too with the Bengals where
- 20:39Speaker 1: it's like it seems like they're in they're in the
- 20:41Speaker 1: sweet spot again. They hit this like every once a
- 20:43Speaker 1: decade where they all their high picks somehow kind of
- 20:45Speaker 1: all come together and they have like three four years
- 20:47Speaker 1: where they got some stars and then you know it's
- 20:50Speaker 1: gonna I I hope for Joe Burrow's sake and for
- 20:52Speaker 1: the league's sake that they're able to you know, keep
- 20:55Speaker 1: him successful. But yeah, it's what is cool, Like I
- 20:58Speaker 1: would look at the other teams, Like, you know, we're
- 20:59Speaker 1: talking all these things as they relate to the Patriots, right,
- 21:02Speaker 1: and we watched Kansas City and Buffalo, and we're like,
- 21:05Speaker 1: oh oh um, you know, and then you sort of wonder,
- 21:07Speaker 1: you know, if Aaron Rodgers ends up in the AFC. Oh,
- 21:10Speaker 1: you know, I don't necessarily look at Cincinnatis and I
- 21:13Speaker 1: think that Borrow is tremendous, but I just don't have
- 21:16Speaker 1: any confidence that that team, right, we'll be able to
- 21:19Speaker 1: handle what they're about to have, you know, going forward. Yeah,
- 21:23Speaker 1: and then the uh, the ms um boy, that looked iffy.
- 21:28Speaker 1: I really thought the way the forty nine ers played
- 21:31Speaker 1: that game and the way they've played them in the
- 21:33Speaker 1: recent past. You know, look, you know what, the forty
- 21:36Speaker 1: nine is gonna win this game. Oh. I thought for
- 21:38Speaker 1: sure the Niners are gonna They're gonna play their kind
- 21:40Speaker 1: of football until Kyle Shanahan. Yeah. Well, it was also
- 21:44Speaker 1: the dropped pick six near the end of the game
- 21:47Speaker 1: that hurt, with the Niners still had the lead at
- 21:49Speaker 1: that point, I believe it. And when the pick six
- 21:53Speaker 1: sorry sorry not intercept, Yes, sorry, yeah, sorry, I know,
- 21:56Speaker 1: but I mean because Jalen Ramsey dropped a pick six, right,
- 22:01Speaker 1: But like, so that's that one doesn't get mentioned? It
- 22:04Speaker 1: does No Jimmy threw the ball right to number five.
- 22:06Speaker 1: Was it was no, but this one was right. It
- 22:08Speaker 1: was like it was fuilding a punka. It was too easy. Yeah.
- 22:11Speaker 1: But even then, like Eric said, it would have been
- 22:14Speaker 1: a punt, like it wasn't Feld, It wasn't you know,
- 22:18Speaker 1: So the Niners would have had the ball with ten
- 22:19Speaker 1: minutes left up three yeah, Like that doesn't mean the
- 22:23Speaker 1: game would have been what happened after that pick, after
- 22:25Speaker 1: that drop they went, they went down, They went down
- 22:27Speaker 1: and got a field by the game. Yeah, there you go.
- 22:29Speaker 1: So even if I know, so it was more than
- 22:31Speaker 1: just a punt, but I know, but the Niners could
- 22:34Speaker 1: have gone three and out. That's what I'm saying. Oh
- 22:37Speaker 1: they could have the game wasn't old, Yeah it wasn't
- 22:40Speaker 1: like yeah yeah, yeah, it wasn't like a Sante Samuel. Yeah,
- 22:43Speaker 1: like if it wasn't, it wasn't it. Yeah, but you
- 22:46Speaker 1: they had very good field positions somewhere around midfield. They
- 22:49Speaker 1: maybe at least put three more points on the board.
- 22:50Speaker 1: Now the Rams have to go for a touchdown instead
- 22:53Speaker 1: of a field goal. So I mean the change is
- 22:56Speaker 1: a good one because there is the Jimmy factor and
- 23:00Speaker 1: all right to Jalen Rams and I know you're gonna
- 23:01Speaker 1: yell at me, Paul, but he's he's he has not
- 23:06Speaker 1: gotten better. I don't think I'm not yet. Why am
- 23:08Speaker 1: I yelling it? Because I think he's an average I
- 23:11Speaker 1: thought he was average when he was here. I root
- 23:13Speaker 1: for Jimmy, but you know what, it kind of reminded
- 23:16Speaker 1: me like when when Jimmy was a puppy and he
- 23:19Speaker 1: made a did his business on the floor. It's like,
- 23:21Speaker 1: well he'll learn, But now he's a dog and he
- 23:23Speaker 1: hasn't learned. Ye shann him. He's making bad decisions. It's
- 23:28Speaker 1: just so sparrative because he has like periods where you're like,
- 23:31Speaker 1: this is the Jimmy. I like, this is the Jimmy
- 23:33Speaker 1: that gets the ball out quick, lets his guys do
- 23:34Speaker 1: the work. Some passes to you know, the kittle where
- 23:37Speaker 1: were you know when they were making that surgeon you
- 23:39Speaker 1: felt like he was gonna win. But I agree, there's
- 23:41Speaker 1: just too many like brain fart moments with him that continue.
- 23:45Speaker 1: And that's the kind of stuff that you know at
- 23:46Speaker 1: this point in his career, is he is he ever
- 23:48Speaker 1: gonna stop doing it. But I'm with you, guys. I thought,
- 23:52Speaker 1: you know, I thought the game was was over at
- 23:54Speaker 1: seventeen seven. I thought the way the Rams were playing,
- 23:57Speaker 1: they were so tight, they kept making so many miss McVeigh,
- 24:01Speaker 1: you know, had two foolish challenges that cost him all
- 24:05Speaker 1: his timeouts. I just thought it was shaping up as
- 24:09Speaker 1: one of those games where the better team's not gonna win. Yeah,
- 24:12Speaker 1: and for whatever reason, they own the Rams. Yeah, and
- 24:17Speaker 1: that's in a way that it looked. I mean, the
- 24:19Speaker 1: Rams had what twice as much yardage time of possession,
- 24:24Speaker 1: and they kept you know, Stafford wasn't really sharp. He
- 24:27Speaker 1: threw a bad pick in the end zone that got
- 24:29Speaker 1: deflected and picked off. They should have had a big lead,
- 24:33Speaker 1: and then all of a sudden, Kyle Shanahan did Kyle
- 24:36Speaker 1: Shanahan things. They couldn't run the ball the whole day.
- 24:39Speaker 1: They averaged less than three yards to carry. They average
- 24:41Speaker 1: less than two yards to carry for a long stretch
- 24:43Speaker 1: of the game. Their longest run was nine yards. Like,
- 24:46Speaker 1: they could not run the ball from here to there.
- 24:48Speaker 1: But yet with a three point lead in a second
- 24:51Speaker 1: and one from the Rams forty four, he runs two
- 24:56Speaker 1: consecutive plays, including the second one to was fullback right
- 25:00Speaker 1: and ends up in a fourth and two and still
- 25:04Speaker 1: won't let Jimmy throw the ball. Jimmy threw the ball
- 25:06Speaker 1: to get him down there, and I agree with you,
- 25:08Speaker 1: I don't think he played a great game. He didn't.
- 25:09Speaker 1: He didn't play well. But he hit twenty one yards
- 25:13Speaker 1: to get the drive started. Then he hit Kittle on
- 25:16Speaker 1: a scene pass to get into Ram's territory. They run
- 25:19Speaker 1: the ball their longest run of the day, mind you,
- 25:22Speaker 1: nine yards to set up second and one, and he
- 25:25Speaker 1: goes run, run, try to draw him offside, punked right.
- 25:30Speaker 1: You deserve to lose. You just lost the game right there.
- 25:32Speaker 1: And then by the time he let Jimmy throw the
- 25:34Speaker 1: ball again, momentum had completely turned. And now Aaron Donald
- 25:38Speaker 1: is a man possessed who he had really done nothing.
- 25:41Speaker 1: Now in the first three quarters, all of a sudden,
- 25:44Speaker 1: Jimmy couldn't move in those last two drives. He was
- 25:47Speaker 1: getting killed. That's you know, that's what happens when you
- 25:50Speaker 1: don't take advantage of when you're playing well. Yeah, like
- 25:54Speaker 1: they're going to be ebbs and flows in games when
- 25:55Speaker 1: the when the Niners were playing well, in that game,
- 25:58Speaker 1: Shannihan took the year out of the tires and that's
- 26:00Speaker 1: exactly what he did in the Super Bowl, and that's
- 26:03Speaker 1: exactly what he did. And the for the Falcons um
- 26:06Speaker 1: he was very sporadic with how he handled that and
- 26:10Speaker 1: you might you know, he threw when he should have
- 26:13Speaker 1: been running. He was throwing, and when he was throwing,
- 26:15Speaker 1: he should have been running. Like it's he just gets
- 26:18Speaker 1: it backwards. He does get a ball, he has three
- 26:20Speaker 1: unbelievable chokes on his rest. You mentioned our super Bowl
- 26:23Speaker 1: against him when he should have just run, he tried
- 26:26Speaker 1: to pass, you know, just kicked the field goal. That's
- 26:29Speaker 1: what I'm saying, Like, Yeah, like he he ran the
- 26:32Speaker 1: ball when he should have been throwing it in this
- 26:35Speaker 1: game and against the Patriots he threw it when he
- 26:36Speaker 1: should have been running it. Right, Yeah, a lot of
- 26:39Speaker 1: thought going on. Seems like he's like for the good
- 26:41Speaker 1: Way where he got all these crazy what are they
- 26:46Speaker 1: saying about me? Now? Plus, you cannot be the head
- 26:49Speaker 1: coach in the NFL and were a cat. You have
- 26:52Speaker 1: to put at least a curve to it. My kids
- 26:54Speaker 1: were like, who's that can't be a ball coach? It
- 26:57Speaker 1: can't be. He can't be a ball coach with a
- 26:59Speaker 1: straight You're not nineteen on a skateboard. Curb your brim
- 27:05Speaker 1: or take the cap off. But the last six LA
- 27:09Speaker 1: playoff games just unbelievable theater, going down to the last
- 27:13Speaker 1: play um in all the division round games, and then
- 27:17Speaker 1: Sunday they weren't. I thought the two games on Sunday
- 27:19Speaker 1: weren't great games necessarily to watch start to finish. They weren't.
- 27:23Speaker 1: The fourth quarter delivered, the second halves were exciting. Yeah,
- 27:26Speaker 1: so I'm excited for the soup bo I mean, I
- 27:28Speaker 1: don't care who's playing. There's like, no, there's no mere
- 27:31Speaker 1: on people like us. There's there's nobody's hoever. Yeah, So
- 27:38Speaker 1: I will never I will never. I'm pointing to Eric
- 27:41Speaker 1: because I think he's the only one that remotely gets
- 27:43Speaker 1: thank you. I will never cease to be amazed with
- 27:47Speaker 1: how Patriots people can make it about them at every
- 27:50Speaker 1: single turn. I just I think it's a gift. It's
- 27:53Speaker 1: part of being a fan. Yeah, it's not just paid,
- 27:56Speaker 1: it's your pure fan. So if it was the Rams
- 27:59Speaker 1: and the Chiefs, that would be about the Patriots, Yeah,
- 28:01Speaker 1: well the Niners. If it was the Niners and Bengals.
- 28:06Speaker 1: That's about the Patriots. Figure it out a figure. I'm
- 28:13Speaker 1: not figuring out who you're rooting for, because I I'll
- 28:16Speaker 1: root for somebody in every game I've ever been to. Yeah,
- 28:18Speaker 1: I know. But why I hate you? Yes? Yeah, because
- 28:22Speaker 1: that's that's for the Patriots, that's you just en Campsite. No,
- 28:25Speaker 1: that's why I hate this game. Yeah, Patriots fans look
- 28:28Speaker 1: at it is How how can I muster up some
- 28:30Speaker 1: hating it? That's right for any spot. I don't know
- 28:33Speaker 1: how any team. I don't know how you do. Yeah.
- 28:35Speaker 1: I like just watching like a good game, like the Chiefs,
- 28:39Speaker 1: Chiefs Bengals. Don't you like to have something vested? No,
- 28:42Speaker 1: it doesn't have to, but I'd rather have it rather
- 28:47Speaker 1: have something. Tell you I was rooting from the homes
- 28:51Speaker 1: and borrow to score every possession the other day. Yeah,
- 28:54Speaker 1: but yes, what I'd rather like been rooting against, you know,
- 28:58Speaker 1: like for a team and against another team. Yeah, because
- 29:00Speaker 1: that's how you watch games normally. Yeah, but I don't
- 29:04Speaker 1: have to have that, like Patriots fans need to find
- 29:07Speaker 1: that I watch. I'm gonna I'm gonna give you the nod.
- 29:10Speaker 1: Now you know who? Okay, they'll root against the Rams
- 29:14Speaker 1: because they spend too much money and that's not how
- 29:16Speaker 1: you do it. So I'll guarantee you when if they
- 29:19Speaker 1: lose the Super Bowl, you'll get the Mark Daniels of
- 29:22Speaker 1: the world will say, see, that's why you can't win
- 29:25Speaker 1: that way. They'll be all over your Twitter. I'm gonna
- 29:28Speaker 1: tee it up and say, well, let's see how many
- 29:30Speaker 1: they can win without any first round picks for the
- 29:32Speaker 1: next two seasons. That'll be mindful it is. It doesn't
- 29:35Speaker 1: matter that. It doesn't matter. For five years in a row,
- 29:37Speaker 1: they've been in the playoffs and won games in the playoffs.
- 29:42Speaker 1: It's the way they've done it is wrong, good Mike,
- 29:44Speaker 1: and that's the way Patriots fans will take. So Fred
- 29:47Speaker 1: says he likes the vitriol. Fine, you're allowed to like
- 29:51Speaker 1: the vitriol. The rest of us who don't like the
- 29:53Speaker 1: vitriols should be allowed not to like the vitriol. We
- 29:56Speaker 1: just want to watch a good game. I know whoever
- 29:58Speaker 1: wins wins, I wouldn't care less. It doesn't have weak sauce.
- 30:02Speaker 1: I don't necessarily have a problem with Okay, so if
- 30:04Speaker 1: you don't, I mean, I can just see Eric with this,
- 30:08Speaker 1: you know with his tweet jacket and his his Scotch
- 30:11Speaker 1: just you know, oh splendid James, Oh boy, splendid game.
- 30:19Speaker 1: That was a wealth thrown pass. I don't have any
- 30:21Speaker 1: problem with you, vitriol, Like you know me, I'll find
- 30:23Speaker 1: that something, but I don't know it. But it's like
- 30:26Speaker 1: it's a specific thing. I want a motion. It's I
- 30:28Speaker 1: need to be able to watch this game without having
- 30:30Speaker 1: to worry about how it affects the Patriots. To me
- 30:33Speaker 1: is next level ten. And by the way, like like
- 30:35Speaker 1: tinfoil hat stuff, the vitriol can change on a dime too.
- 30:39Speaker 1: I can start up the game by wanting one team
- 30:41Speaker 1: for one reason. Then then something happens, and then I
- 30:43Speaker 1: can turn. I will say this as I'm watching the
- 30:46Speaker 1: Chiefs Bengals game. I'm watching it just saying, don't really
- 30:51Speaker 1: care who wins. I just want to see a good game.
- 30:53Speaker 1: And then in the first half liked said it looked like, oh, well,
- 30:57Speaker 1: Chiefs are gonna run away with this one. This is
- 30:58Speaker 1: gonna started rooting for the Bengals. I just wanted to
- 31:01Speaker 1: be oops so the game would then at halftime when
- 31:03Speaker 1: they had that brain fart and and didn't kick the
- 31:06Speaker 1: field goal. I was thinking, all right, the Bengals are
- 31:09Speaker 1: still in this, but let's see what happens in that
- 31:11Speaker 1: first drive. And then they kept staying in it, and
- 31:13Speaker 1: I kept thinking, Okay, now the Bengals really have a
- 31:16Speaker 1: chance to win this. So I started like rooting them on,
- 31:20Speaker 1: like it wasn't going to kill me if they lost, right,
- 31:22Speaker 1: But like that's what I said, like we can. That's
- 31:25Speaker 1: what I do every game I've ever seen. I told
- 31:27Speaker 1: you a million stories about covering high school events for
- 31:29Speaker 1: the Herald, and I would go in and it'd be
- 31:32Speaker 1: like some random field hockey game between two schools that
- 31:34Speaker 1: I never even heard of the cities, And five minutes
- 31:37Speaker 1: after I'm there, I'm rooting for one team or the other, right,
- 31:39Speaker 1: because that just happens. It's it's a competition. So you know,
- 31:43Speaker 1: maybe one team jumped ahead to nothing and you felt
- 31:46Speaker 1: bad for the team that was losing, so you started
- 31:48Speaker 1: rooting for them to come back. Dirty. Look But but
- 31:50Speaker 1: I think that's all different than I know the way
- 31:53Speaker 1: that Deuce in his ilk look at. It's all about
- 31:57Speaker 1: an argument to be made, yea for the page. How
- 31:59Speaker 1: can Patriots be perceived to be even better? Than when
- 32:02Speaker 1: six times. I just care about I just I just
- 32:04Speaker 1: don't want the chiefs fans like coming at me. I
- 32:08Speaker 1: just don't want I don't want to hear it. I
- 32:09Speaker 1: just want to bubbles though they come at you. They're
- 32:13Speaker 1: not gonna win six titles. Well, don't tell them that.
- 32:16Speaker 1: And if someone does, then you have for that back
- 32:19Speaker 1: and say no, they did it. They can't. Don't listen
- 32:22Speaker 1: to how could it ever be as good? Mike al
- 32:24Speaker 1: don't listen to them defend the one they're gonna go
- 32:25Speaker 1: to defend the wall. I just don't think the wall
- 32:28Speaker 1: needs to be defended. And I don't think anyone's ever
- 32:30Speaker 1: gonna do what the Patriots did. Brady forgot you though,
- 32:34Speaker 1: Uh Like, I wouldn't waste my time worrying about that
- 32:37Speaker 1: because I don't think anyone's ever going to approach what
- 32:39Speaker 1: Brady and the Patriots did. Yeah, I just don't want
- 32:42Speaker 1: to hear it. I just don't want to hear it.
- 32:43Speaker 1: I ain't got time for that, right, I ain't got
- 32:45Speaker 1: time for anybody got time for that? I love? You
- 32:48Speaker 1: want the arguments my time? You know you want the
- 32:51Speaker 1: argument end there all the time? Right? Yeah? You have it?
- 32:54Speaker 1: How that go. Do you want to see my six rings?
- 32:57Speaker 1: All right? Told they only have five that one year
- 33:02Speaker 1: that they want something happened eight five five past five
- 33:04Speaker 1: hundred is the aceticket houtline web radio at Patriots dot
- 33:07Speaker 1: com is the email address hit You see by the
- 33:09Speaker 1: way that Mike Evans threw that touchdown pass into the
- 33:11Speaker 1: stands again? Oh no, last Ramsey. I did see Jalon
- 33:18Speaker 1: Ramsey on Twitter was like, oh, he threw his last
- 33:20Speaker 1: touchdown against me. So that was kind that was kind
- 33:23Speaker 1: of funny. All right, let's get to the phones and emails.
- 33:26Speaker 1: Obviously everybody wants to get in on today's show. We'll
- 33:30Speaker 1: start with Sean and Vancouver. Hey Sean, Fred, you're making
- 33:35Speaker 1: me nervous by throwing the name Adam Gays in the ring.
- 33:37Speaker 1: Let go and replace Dave Ball in Buffalo and dead
- 33:40Speaker 1: and ruined Josh Allen. We don't we don't need him
- 33:42Speaker 1: here in New England. You don't like case No, no,
- 33:45Speaker 1: he ruined players. Oh I heard he's not, you know,
- 33:48Speaker 1: as a head coach. But I heard you're a good
- 33:51Speaker 1: offensive coordinator. I don't know. I think it's not an
- 33:53Speaker 1: issue that you lost McDaniels. As long as you have
- 33:56Speaker 1: a guy that can run the offense. I think it
- 33:58Speaker 1: is a problem if you're changing the offense. Yeah, if
- 34:01Speaker 1: Mack is going through two systems in two years, that's
- 34:04Speaker 1: not good, right, It's not a good path for a
- 34:06Speaker 1: young quarterback to take. What do you think, Vegas is
- 34:10Speaker 1: the advantage would be getting the Ziegler over the Patriots
- 34:14Speaker 1: in the draft? Is there any again? So what advantage
- 34:19Speaker 1: does so? Like institutional knowledge that he brings with them,
- 34:22Speaker 1: and like guys that were interested in things that I
- 34:25Speaker 1: was thinking of this actually that we're lucked in at
- 34:28Speaker 1: twenty one. The Raiders are twenty two. So if there was,
- 34:32Speaker 1: for instance, a player that the Patriots coveted and Ziegler coveted,
- 34:36Speaker 1: you gotta go get him. Well, you know, he'll know
- 34:39Speaker 1: that he needs to make a move to get above
- 34:41Speaker 1: twenty one. I wonder too, like where's the process at
- 34:44Speaker 1: this point? Though? Like have they you know? I mean
- 34:46Speaker 1: in the Raiders pick a little ahead of us, right,
- 34:48Speaker 1: I think he said, I mean, did you pull a friend?
- 34:52Speaker 1: Why are they behind? Didn't they lose the next because
- 34:54Speaker 1: they have a better seating The Raiders are at twenty two.
- 35:00Speaker 1: The Raiders didn't have a better seed than the Patriots. No,
- 35:02Speaker 1: but I just looked. I just looked at the updated
- 35:04Speaker 1: NFL rankings yesterday and where they were twenty two. I
- 35:07Speaker 1: thought they were I don't know, I thought they were
- 35:09Speaker 1: the seven. Oh. I guess I was right. I misremembered that. Okay, anyway,
- 35:14Speaker 1: that's why I was convinced was seven. Okay, Yeah, yeah,
- 35:17Speaker 1: you're right, you're right. Yeah, you guys are right. Now,
- 35:19Speaker 1: guys are right. Stop probably beating me. Okay, thanks, thanks, Sean. Um.
- 35:24Speaker 1: I'm with Sean no on the offensive coordinator thing. I
- 35:26Speaker 1: think it's easy to say it's good to have another voice.
- 35:29Speaker 1: I don't necessarily believe that unless it's a good voice. Yeah,
- 35:32Speaker 1: I don't. I don't just think anybody is the same. No,
- 35:34Speaker 1: but I also think there are a lot of good
- 35:36Speaker 1: football coaches out there, Like Josh isn't the only person
- 35:38Speaker 1: in the world who can coach a quarterback? No, no, no,
- 35:41Speaker 1: I didn't say that. But Bill O'Brien to me, now,
- 35:44Speaker 1: you're you're having the same offense, You're having a guy
- 35:46Speaker 1: with familiarity with the system. It's it's pretty seamless. It's
- 35:49Speaker 1: just a matter of learning a different personnelity. Yeah, but
- 35:52Speaker 1: that's fine, Adam Gase, right, not the same? No, Right,
- 35:55Speaker 1: And that's and that's kind of goes back to the
- 35:56Speaker 1: point I was talking about earlier. If you know what's
- 35:58Speaker 1: the Belichick to Gaze if he was the oc connection
- 36:01Speaker 1: of you know, we're running the same offense that Bill
- 36:04Speaker 1: Belichick wants to runner, is the Adam Gaze kind of
- 36:06Speaker 1: incorporating his terminology, his things like his own offense. To
- 36:10Speaker 1: be honest with you, right, right, you want to try
- 36:13Speaker 1: to keep as much continuity. But I have to believe
- 36:15Speaker 1: at this point that Bill believes in the offense that
- 36:17Speaker 1: they've had here for you know what, three offensive coordinators
- 36:20Speaker 1: I guess basically over the last twenty years. And yeah's
- 36:22Speaker 1: crazy Charlie to Josh to Bill O'Brien back to Josh.
- 36:28Speaker 1: So yeah, But the other thing to all of those
- 36:31Speaker 1: guys ran the same all run the same offense, right,
- 36:33Speaker 1: I mean people are automatically assuming that if Belichick picks
- 36:37Speaker 1: up the phone and calls Bill O'Brien, Bill's gonna drop
- 36:39Speaker 1: everything he's doing and come back to New England. What
- 36:41Speaker 1: if Bill O'Brien Lison in Alabama, I know that, or
- 36:43Speaker 1: Lison in college and likes what he's doing and doesn't
- 36:46Speaker 1: want to come back here. I mean, everyone's assuming that
- 36:48Speaker 1: just because the Patriots pick up the phone, you're gonna
- 36:50Speaker 1: drop everything you're doing and coming in. Jacksonville hasn't hired
- 36:53Speaker 1: a coach yet, right, five teams haven't hired opposedly, but
- 36:57Speaker 1: O'Brien interviewed with Jacksonville. I think that's wi you bring
- 37:00Speaker 1: Jonville up. But I do think that there's some kind
- 37:04Speaker 1: of a glitch with Byron Leftwich. I think he they
- 37:08Speaker 1: want him to be the coach, um, but he wanted
- 37:11Speaker 1: to get Bunky out. Yeah, And that was my my
- 37:15Speaker 1: whacked out conspiracy, my deuce theory. But with my tinfoil
- 37:19Speaker 1: hat on was that Brady was slow playing the retirement
- 37:23Speaker 1: over the weekend because he was trying to see if
- 37:25Speaker 1: he could get the red face dummy out and get
- 37:28Speaker 1: Leftwich to stay and be the new head coach of
- 37:30Speaker 1: the Bucks power play. But I don't think that's you
- 37:33Speaker 1: know that that was way out there, um, And I
- 37:35Speaker 1: was just looking at Adam Gaates. I wanted to look
- 37:37Speaker 1: up because I know there was like some sort of
- 37:39Speaker 1: very minor connection to Belichick for Adam Gays that he's
- 37:44Speaker 1: has always been there, And there's a couple of things,
- 37:47Speaker 1: and I'm not I'm too lazy to look this up,
- 37:49Speaker 1: but he was on the staff at LSU in the
- 37:51Speaker 1: early two thousands, from two thousand to two thousand and two,
- 37:54Speaker 1: and my guests is saved at that at that time, Um,
- 37:58Speaker 1: which is one my connection. But a little bit more
- 38:01Speaker 1: major is he was the Broncos wide receivers coach in
- 38:06Speaker 1: oh nine and ten, so he would have some familiarity
- 38:11Speaker 1: with the offensive system from that. Interesting. All right, So
- 38:16Speaker 1: I'm not always just here to make fun of you people.
- 38:18Speaker 1: Sometimes I I provide contact sometimes Patty and aga, what's up, Patty?
- 38:25Speaker 1: What's up? Guys? Lots of stuff going on over the weekend. Um,
- 38:29Speaker 1: there's one thing I wanted to get into, and that
- 38:32Speaker 1: was Mac Jones becoming a Pro Bowl alternate. So and
- 38:36Speaker 1: I know that we know from these past couple of years,
- 38:39Speaker 1: would do some on the preum postgame show that the
- 38:41Speaker 1: Patriots listened to the show to get the keys to
- 38:45Speaker 1: the game. So if Mac is listening, I gotta tell Mac,
- 38:49Speaker 1: please do me a favor. If somebody I know there's
- 38:52Speaker 1: no beaches in Las Vegas, but if somebody asks you
- 38:55Speaker 1: to play a Desert Football game in the stand to say, no, yeah,
- 39:00Speaker 1: I gotta tell we gotta tell Lawrence Spencer to make
- 39:03Speaker 1: sure get that message to you this week is that
- 39:06Speaker 1: it took me twenty three years to make that joke. No,
- 39:09Speaker 1: just will you watch him, Patty? Will you watch him
- 39:12Speaker 1: in the Pro Bowl? Oh? Of course, yeah. Do you
- 39:16Speaker 1: usually watch? Probably don't, but but now that he's in it, Yeah,
- 39:19Speaker 1: I'll definitely watch it. That's like the only thing that
- 39:21Speaker 1: we'll get me to watch the Pro Bowl? The touchdown
- 39:22Speaker 1: Twins like put the stats out. Absolutely, did you see
- 39:26Speaker 1: that throw? I probably write something about it, right, I
- 39:31Speaker 1: think they Cam Newton was bummed out because I think
- 39:33Speaker 1: he was next in line McClellan. Once again, Cam loses
- 39:40Speaker 1: on mac Um. You can't tell me though, if he
- 39:45Speaker 1: like just throws like a little pass it, I think
- 39:46Speaker 1: Tyreek kill. I don't know if he'll play or not,
- 39:47Speaker 1: but he's one of them. But you know that's what
- 39:49Speaker 1: that's what's gonna get everybody excited, Like, you know, he
- 39:51Speaker 1: hits one of these, you have a weapon exactly, That's
- 39:54Speaker 1: what it's gonna be. Yeah, and when no defense is
- 39:57Speaker 1: being played, I'm significantly significant will be frightened, frightened, free.
- 40:02Speaker 1: Oh wait a minute, we have breaking news. There's all
- 40:06Speaker 1: kinds of news on the on the uh on the
- 40:09Speaker 1: phone that um that he's coming here to sign a
- 40:12Speaker 1: one day contract. By the way, I don't know if
- 40:14Speaker 1: there's any validity to it, but a lot of people
- 40:17Speaker 1: are suggesting that Brady will be here either tomorrow. Yeah, no,
- 40:20Speaker 1: tomorrow's Wednesday, right, yeah, tomorrow, um for for a press
- 40:24Speaker 1: conference in Patriot Place and signing a one day contract.
- 40:27Speaker 1: I don't know that there's any validity to that, but
- 40:30Speaker 1: who knows. He just reposted Craft's statement and just said
- 40:33Speaker 1: thank you Patriots and Patriot Nation, heartheart, bey, ungrateful, and
- 40:37Speaker 1: love you all. So he reposted Robert Croft's printed statement
- 40:42Speaker 1: from the Patriots on Instagram and added those things. So
- 40:45Speaker 1: I think that's odds. Still, it's still odd. No, that
- 40:50Speaker 1: doesn't an Eric, Yeah, that doesn't that Oh oh yeah,
- 40:56Speaker 1: oh yeah, you you're inbox. I needed I got to him.
- 41:00Speaker 1: I needed to see you soon. And then winky emoji.
- 41:03Speaker 1: Right yeah, ah something bruin right, thanks Patty. But even
- 41:07Speaker 1: with all of that, I still don't understand why you
- 41:09Speaker 1: can't make any patriots right, Like if he had just said,
- 41:12Speaker 1: you know, I'm retiring. I want to spend what's out
- 41:15Speaker 1: with my family. I don't have the competitive drivel you
- 41:19Speaker 1: want to go chapter in verse as detailed as he
- 41:21Speaker 1: was about everything in Tampa, right, yeah, and not do
- 41:24Speaker 1: the Patriots is odd. Like again, I don't he could
- 41:27Speaker 1: do whatever he wants. It's yeah, his choice. He had
- 41:30Speaker 1: to know how he conscious however, that he knows how
- 41:34Speaker 1: it would how it would be perceived. There was a
- 41:36Speaker 1: reason that he left the Patriots out. I don't know.
- 41:38Speaker 1: Maybe he has maybe in his last game he got
- 41:40Speaker 1: hit and he has amnesia and he forgot about the
- 41:43Speaker 1: last twenty years, but he didn't forget about his Michigan
- 41:45Speaker 1: selected Right, it comes and goes, let's go to Christian
- 41:51Speaker 1: in La Hey, Christian. Yeah, hey, guys, can you give
- 41:55Speaker 1: me okay? Yeah, yeah, okay, I will quickly. I just
- 41:59Speaker 1: go for the litany, right, tom Brady's retirement and not
- 42:03Speaker 1: mentioning the Patriots. Tom Brady's a very calculated gentleman. He's
- 42:07Speaker 1: in the STU businessman and he's a media mobile on
- 42:10Speaker 1: the way. I think he knows what he's doing. If anything,
- 42:14Speaker 1: for me, it looks like this is his savvy way
- 42:18Speaker 1: of sort of sticking it to Bill for what happened
- 42:22Speaker 1: during the play King when asked about the situation, and
- 42:25Speaker 1: Bill said, talked to Tom. That was throwing him under
- 42:27Speaker 1: the bus. To Tom, I mean, no one really know
- 42:29Speaker 1: it's about that anymore, but that was kind of throwing
- 42:31Speaker 1: them under the bus. I think maybe it's the Tom
- 42:33Speaker 1: subtle way of saying, all right, yeah, talk to me,
- 42:36Speaker 1: let me leave you guys out. That's it my theory.
- 42:39Speaker 1: Secondly on Josh leaving us finally and going to the
- 42:43Speaker 1: to the Raiders for me, And here's a crazy theory.
- 42:47Speaker 1: I think we're going to be able to tell how
- 42:49Speaker 1: long Bill is doing a coach by the length of
- 42:52Speaker 1: the contract that Josh signs in Las Vegas. I think
- 42:57Speaker 1: the Patriots or maybe the Craft or maybe that's weird
- 43:00Speaker 1: theory out there, that they're letting Josh Cutteth in a
- 43:03Speaker 1: more administrative way. I think you're over two on theory
- 43:08Speaker 1: for two transition over two. Yeah, that's that's just a
- 43:11Speaker 1: crazy theory. Okay, it is crazy. I think you can
- 43:15Speaker 1: buy crazy. Thanks Christian, keep them coming. I don't ever
- 43:19Speaker 1: keep coming. I love I love outside the box thinking
- 43:23Speaker 1: rather than the group think I do, But I think
- 43:26Speaker 1: you can never say zero percent. But I think it's
- 43:29Speaker 1: an all but certainty that Josh mcgenials will now never
- 43:31Speaker 1: be the head coach. I agree with that. If he's
- 43:34Speaker 1: successful with the Raiders, he's going to be the Raiders coach.
- 43:37Speaker 1: And if he's not, I don't think you want him
- 43:39Speaker 1: back right now. Now weird to think happened. I'm not
- 43:43Speaker 1: going to say zero percent. Sure, maybe something like that happens.
- 43:46Speaker 1: Maybe he but he'd have to probably go somewhere. I mean,
- 43:49Speaker 1: he's not going to just go from getting fired to
- 43:50Speaker 1: the Raiders to come back here for the third head
- 43:52Speaker 1: coaching exactly exactly, That's what I said. Yeah, like that,
- 43:57Speaker 1: how are like, well, how are the Raiders gonna feel
- 43:59Speaker 1: if like he's like, oh, well, you know, my three
- 44:01Speaker 1: year contract is up. We've won two Super Bowls, but
- 44:03Speaker 1: I got to go back to New England, you know,
- 44:04Speaker 1: because they let me out of here. I think that
- 44:06Speaker 1: ship still. Yeah, and the other thing about the Scorpions,
- 44:10Speaker 1: I know, well, did anyone tell him maybe it's not
- 44:13Speaker 1: too lay the Scorpions. No, he can't. He already had
- 44:17Speaker 1: the press conference. He's probably making so much money, he'll
- 44:19Speaker 1: have like somebody specifically to check every morning. Um, the
- 44:24Speaker 1: theory about the Belichick thing, that's all fine and good,
- 44:28Speaker 1: just don't mention him, right, and you're in your goodbye
- 44:31Speaker 1: that's even better, right. That's that's a clear, like, you know,
- 44:34Speaker 1: ostracizing of him. If you say, I think that you
- 44:37Speaker 1: know the craft, thank you all my New England teammates,
- 44:40Speaker 1: and you don't mention the at the booth, right, and
- 44:42Speaker 1: then then you don't even mention Bill. That's really you
- 44:44Speaker 1: talk about. It should be a wellness check for that, yeah, yeah,
- 44:50Speaker 1: mention me um. So I think that's what got Megan
- 44:54Speaker 1: blocked by Martha. Meghan was very upset by the way.
- 44:59Speaker 1: That was one of the yea, she was one of
- 45:01Speaker 1: the first ones she would hurt her faux outrage. She's
- 45:04Speaker 1: been all over Brady for like months now and then
- 45:06Speaker 1: like and then he does something and now she's like, oh,
- 45:08Speaker 1: I can't believe that you love it, Megan, wherever you are,
- 45:11Speaker 1: like it's something for you to be She's I can't
- 45:13Speaker 1: believe he did it, Megan. She's listening right now, I
- 45:17Speaker 1: hope so I would say it to her face. She's like, oh,
- 45:23Speaker 1: did he screw up? And slight the Patriots. Oh, let me,
- 45:25Speaker 1: I'm cooking with gas now like wearing her. Just keep
- 45:28Speaker 1: smelling it now. Uh eight five five past five hundred.
- 45:33Speaker 1: Let's go to Cody and Fresno. Hey, Cody, Cody Coatster,
- 45:40Speaker 1: Cody not there, We can't wait. We'll go to William
- 45:44Speaker 1: in Brazil. What's up William? Will in Brazil? What's up
- 45:48Speaker 1: with her doing? Going? All right? Awesome, I'm doing super today.
- 45:54Speaker 1: Post that the Patriots nation finds something to hate in everything,
- 45:59Speaker 1: and I prove him wrong, wrong, because I love the
- 46:03Speaker 1: fact that Tom Brade finally retired because all the things
- 46:09Speaker 1: that he was saying to the Patriot out, the shots
- 46:12Speaker 1: that he was taking a better cheek, and I could
- 46:15Speaker 1: not stand to see Tom Brady after twenty years playing
- 46:20Speaker 1: in another uniform. So I love that he retired. I
- 46:24Speaker 1: love scrap is gone and let's go. Let's let's move forward.
- 46:29Speaker 1: Mac Jones is a pro bowler. Let's hold on, hold good.
- 46:37Speaker 1: Mac Jones is going to He is not a probowler?
- 46:40Speaker 1: Is a philosophical question. He's the eleventh altern right, we
- 46:46Speaker 1: have to find something to be happy, right, So he's
- 46:50Speaker 1: going to the problem and Patriot All right, thanks, William
- 46:53Speaker 1: I do. I do love the fact that William called
- 46:55Speaker 1: to say I think that I am I'm wrong that
- 46:57Speaker 1: Paton's fins don't aid every I think williams a little
- 47:00Speaker 1: tongue in sheet. Oh, no question why. I thought it
- 47:02Speaker 1: was hilarious. Yeah, that's good. I thought that was really,
- 47:04Speaker 1: really clever. I'm gonna show you why we're not always
- 47:08Speaker 1: mad about everything by telling you how much I hate
- 47:10Speaker 1: Tom Brahim. The nightmare is over a personal nightmare. God,
- 47:15Speaker 1: I don't want that guy winning six more titles for US.
- 47:18Speaker 1: Rashad's in Baltimore. Hey, Rashad, Hey, Hey, what's up, um Bray?
- 47:23Speaker 1: I want to say, um, yes, um last week I
- 47:26Speaker 1: didn't hang up on you. My phone had died. So
- 47:29Speaker 1: I definitely, you know, I appreciate all the insight. And
- 47:32Speaker 1: you know, Josh McDonald's gone. And I mean, do we
- 47:39Speaker 1: do we do we get Bill O'Brien or do we
- 47:42Speaker 1: look outside the box. I mean, I'm sure they're talking
- 47:46Speaker 1: to Bill O'Brien just to feel him out, but I
- 47:49Speaker 1: don't know. I don't know what they're gonna do. I
- 47:52Speaker 1: really don't. And it's it's it's a two way street.
- 47:55Speaker 1: He has to want to come right right, I can't
- 47:57Speaker 1: assume that he wants to come back, and the whole
- 48:00Speaker 1: ves too. I mean, that's you know, I think you've
- 48:01Speaker 1: got a lot of my head goes with Josh. I mean,
- 48:05Speaker 1: of course he was probably the hes gonna be the
- 48:08Speaker 1: great quarterback I've ever seen in my life. But I'll
- 48:11Speaker 1: say my favorite memory and maybe my favorite throw of
- 48:14Speaker 1: his was that twenty fourteen games against the Raisings when
- 48:18Speaker 1: he made that throw to Brandon Lafel in the corner
- 48:21Speaker 1: of the one of the all time great, great, great
- 48:25Speaker 1: call by you. It's an often overlooked, ridiculously important and precise, yes,
- 48:32Speaker 1: perfect perfect, Yeah, yeah, that had to be my favorite,
- 48:36Speaker 1: my favorite throw of his ever. Without that throw, you
- 48:39Speaker 1: can make an argument that the second part of the
- 48:41Speaker 1: Dynasty doesn't happen. Yeah, yeah, yep, you're trying to remember
- 48:45Speaker 1: the play. Just no, I remember that that that was
- 48:50Speaker 1: before he hated right now, That's true. You know, I
- 48:54Speaker 1: was just thinking of other of other of other throws
- 48:56Speaker 1: that that stood out specifically. I mean I always think
- 48:59Speaker 1: of Osa in Miami, those throws which I don't even
- 49:01Speaker 1: know if they were throws, as much as great catches
- 49:03Speaker 1: by Randy yea by the heaves and yeah, the field.
- 49:08Speaker 1: I mean, this is maybe I'm going back a little ways,
- 49:12Speaker 1: but one of the first times I ever saw a
- 49:14Speaker 1: Brady comeback was a Monday night game in Denver the
- 49:17Speaker 1: Safety game? Was it the safety game when he mentional
- 49:20Speaker 1: safety game? When he hit David Gibbons with like the
- 49:23Speaker 1: back shoulder throw that was I mean, to me, that
- 49:26Speaker 1: was an underrated throw just because of the circumstance where
- 49:30Speaker 1: he was in his career, the fact that it was
- 49:31Speaker 1: Denver place where he always, you know, New England historically
- 49:35Speaker 1: played badly. I thought that was a clutch throw. But
- 49:38Speaker 1: I mean, it's not high up on my list, but
- 49:40Speaker 1: that's one I always think, Oh no, that's a memorable,
- 49:42Speaker 1: memorable throw. Absolutely, it deserves to be mentioned. I just
- 49:45Speaker 1: feel like there's not a lot made of When you
- 49:49Speaker 1: think of that Baltimore would come back, you think of
- 49:52Speaker 1: the double Do you think of the trick place, Yeah,
- 49:54Speaker 1: you think of the the ineligible the ineligible receivers, and
- 49:57Speaker 1: you think of the double pass right right. And with
- 50:00Speaker 1: all of that, they were still losing late in the game,
- 50:04Speaker 1: and he made an absolutely perfect pass to LaFell for
- 50:09Speaker 1: that touchdown, and I think if they lost that game,
- 50:11Speaker 1: obviously you take away the fourteen title and who knows
- 50:16Speaker 1: what happens, right, you know, And I don't know why.
- 50:19Speaker 1: But the twenty four nothing come back against Denver here,
- 50:23Speaker 1: I have very little recollection. I am with you. I
- 50:25Speaker 1: don't know why. I don't know. I'll tell you why.
- 50:27Speaker 1: I'll tell you why why, because it ultimately didn't matter.
- 50:31Speaker 1: They ended up losing in Denver in the AC Championship
- 50:33Speaker 1: game anyway, No, I know, but like that particularly in Yeah,
- 50:37Speaker 1: I remember that. That's one of the only remember. Yeah,
- 50:41Speaker 1: I have very little recollection of that. A lot of
- 50:44Speaker 1: players had to have happened to come back, but I
- 50:46Speaker 1: can't remember. I know, I'm with you. Yeah, it was
- 50:52Speaker 1: Wisconsin running back for the Broncos that fumbled at the
- 50:56Speaker 1: Broncos were going in probably to put the game away,
- 50:59Speaker 1: and they around midfield on Amante ball. Oh yeah, wow,
- 51:03Speaker 1: fumbled on a screen and that sort of jump started that,
- 51:07Speaker 1: like because I think the Patriots came out and scored
- 51:10Speaker 1: and then you know, you're like, okay, you get a stop,
- 51:12Speaker 1: you know, and you start getting it back together. Uh.
- 51:16Speaker 1: This was the Steve Burton game where he's celebrating on
- 51:18Speaker 1: The sideline of the day was the cover right Troy
- 51:21Speaker 1: Brown and OT in Miami, and that was similar to
- 51:24Speaker 1: the Denver the Denver game that Eric was talking about,
- 51:27Speaker 1: because they had so many of those demons in Miami
- 51:30Speaker 1: and they also got really porked by the officials in
- 51:32Speaker 1: that game and they overcame it. Which one though, that
- 51:36Speaker 1: Miami game that they want in overtime on the on
- 51:38Speaker 1: the bomb to Troy Brown. H let's go to Bobby
- 51:41Speaker 1: in pa in Pennsylvania. What's up, Bobby? What's up? Guys?
- 51:44Speaker 1: Are hey? So speaking of great throws, I'm mu sure
- 51:49Speaker 1: of it. A great throw, great cats. What do you
- 51:50Speaker 1: guys think they? I say one of my favorite ones
- 51:52Speaker 1: probably the can Roll Thompson this corner against the Saines
- 51:55Speaker 1: game throw, Yeah, which is you classified as a Brady
- 52:03Speaker 1: Brady talked about it and said he thought they blew
- 52:04Speaker 1: the coverage, which I thought was when he talked about
- 52:07Speaker 1: order his best throws, that was a kind of interesting
- 52:08Speaker 1: that he thought they just gotta blood. Yeah it was.
- 52:10Speaker 1: That was a great throw. Yeah. Yeah, sort of touch
- 52:14Speaker 1: on two things real quick, because I'm used you like
- 52:15Speaker 1: a quick caller, like to call and just leave it
- 52:17Speaker 1: with something Um, what do you guys think about shadow shake?
- 52:21Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know. I mean, he was a
- 52:23Speaker 1: decent coach when he was here, but I don't know
- 52:25Speaker 1: how he's progressed. I honestly, I just there all these names, right,
- 52:29Speaker 1: I don't know if they'd be good. I really don't
- 52:31Speaker 1: the former wide receiver coach, but yeah, what happened in Miami?
- 52:34Speaker 1: Why did Why did Florida bring him and want to
- 52:36Speaker 1: do it and then switched to after one year he
- 52:38Speaker 1: got to chan Gailey, right, he went back to Chan Gailly.
- 52:41Speaker 1: So yeah, but he did have like four offensive coordinators
- 52:45Speaker 1: in three years. Yeah. I looked it up and I've
- 52:47Speaker 1: seen he's the Browns passing him in coordrad als. So
- 52:49Speaker 1: I'm assuming he would just he would definitely be open
- 52:51Speaker 1: for the role. Um, I think I was gonna say good.
- 52:55Speaker 1: I mean, I'm not sure that that's a promotion, but
- 52:58Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know what he would rather do
- 53:00Speaker 1: if he's like the passing game coordinator is kind of
- 53:04Speaker 1: a coordinator job. I don't know that that would be
- 53:06Speaker 1: a wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator. Yeah, I mean,
- 53:12Speaker 1: that's that's tough. I don't know where he's from where
- 53:14Speaker 1: is well he went to Marshall right. I think he's
- 53:19Speaker 1: from West Virginia. I don't know, but it's a name.
- 53:23Speaker 1: It's a name right well, and that's just where where
- 53:26Speaker 1: where he is? And you want to bring in a
- 53:28Speaker 1: new guy to break in or it just doesn't seem
- 53:31Speaker 1: like anybody's really waiting. So that's why Bill O'Brien it
- 53:34Speaker 1: kind of feels like Bill o'brine or Buss where you
- 53:36Speaker 1: have a guy who you don't can do it, who can,
- 53:38Speaker 1: you know, kind of take over and do what Josh did.
- 53:40Speaker 1: But or also or you promote somebody who's already here.
- 53:44Speaker 1: That's an opportunity. I mean, don't forget like what's interested
- 53:47Speaker 1: in that, joh. But but let's remember Josh wasn't, you know,
- 53:50Speaker 1: a forty five year old man when he took the
- 53:52Speaker 1: job back in the early two thousand or whatever it was.
- 53:55Speaker 1: He was a young guy learning from an experienced guy.
- 53:59Speaker 1: So there is you know, somebody on the staff potentially
- 54:01Speaker 1: could be in that same totally agree and and not
- 54:03Speaker 1: even technically get the position, but you know, like they
- 54:07Speaker 1: do like Lerian title right always. Coach Stave was also
- 54:13Speaker 1: here for several years that's who before before he got it.
- 54:16Speaker 1: These guys haven't been These guys have been here for
- 54:18Speaker 1: twenty minutes. Mick Lombardi has been here for a couple
- 54:20Speaker 1: of years there, a few years. But it's we had
- 54:23Speaker 1: a way to look that up. He's been here. I
- 54:25Speaker 1: mean he coached the quarterbacks I believe in nineteen and
- 54:28Speaker 1: then two years lead receiver. I thought he left my
- 54:35Speaker 1: whole thing. I thought Mick Lombardi left to go to
- 54:37Speaker 1: the like the Jets, and came back. I could be
- 54:39Speaker 1: mister he was. He was a scouting assistant from eleven
- 54:43Speaker 1: to twelve, went to the Niners as a quality control
- 54:47Speaker 1: coaching assistant at Niners, and then went to the Jets.
- 54:50Speaker 1: We did go to the Jets. Then, uh twenty nineteen
- 54:52Speaker 1: he came back as assistant quarterbacks and then in twenty
- 54:55Speaker 1: twenty and twenty one he took three year wide receivers coach.
- 54:58Speaker 1: So but again it's but can you have this team
- 55:02Speaker 1: with neither a defensive coordinator or an offensive coordinator? Now
- 55:06Speaker 1: with what you have, it's just it feels like things
- 55:08Speaker 1: are getting too thin right now. You don't have to
- 55:10Speaker 1: know that though, No, I don't know. I know, I
- 55:12Speaker 1: know but people don't want to hear it. But you
- 55:14Speaker 1: can make Matt Patricia or a coordinator. Absolutely. I just
- 55:17Speaker 1: I mean, I'm saying, if you're going to go that
- 55:19Speaker 1: route of well, we're gonna make the de facto kind
- 55:21Speaker 1: of guys. But it's just how long can you go
- 55:22Speaker 1: haven't de facto guys? And I mean, you think he
- 55:25Speaker 1: saw some of the problems with the defense when you
- 55:27Speaker 1: hear about you know, so many years has Nick Kayley
- 55:30Speaker 1: been here. I'd rather have Nick Kayley than Mick Lombardi.
- 55:35Speaker 1: Nick Kayley, I don't know. I don't know how any
- 55:37Speaker 1: of these guys would do. I really know. He's in
- 55:39Speaker 1: his seventh Patriot season, seventh NFL season as well, and
- 55:42Speaker 1: he started out as he's coaching assistant. He's been here
- 55:45Speaker 1: for seven years. Yeah, he done besides tight ends, offensive
- 55:49Speaker 1: coaching assistant. So he was just kind of like all
- 55:51Speaker 1: over the place. That's why, at least with Mick where
- 55:53Speaker 1: he's done the quarterbacks and the wide receivers, that that
- 55:55Speaker 1: I think is kind of what Josh did maybe a
- 55:57Speaker 1: little bit, or maybe even Bill o'bee I think when
- 55:59Speaker 1: he got here called billowbib just awkward. All right, We're
- 56:05Speaker 1: gonna take a bla blaw. We'll come back. Lots more

- 1:06:34Speaker 1: embarrassed about this. It's an embarrassing moment, very embarrassing. So
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: I'm at a funny story. I'm at the party with
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: my wife and this is before everybody got their rinks.
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: So it's still early, okay. People are still arriving and
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: I'm standing kind of in a middle area where you know,
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: as people go by them talk Jonathan Craft and people
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: we work with. And Tom comes in with Giselle. That
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: would be Tom Brady. Tom Brady. Okay, well with Giselle
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: kind of is the giveaway. But anyway, um so I said, hey, Tom,
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: how you doing? And I stuck my hand out for
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: a handshake, and he came in for the hug. He
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: came hot, so hot that I kissed him on the cheek. Wow.
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: He went in for the hug and Fred did the
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: Casanda inappropriate moment. I did it. I'm like, oh, what
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: did did he react to it? He's so tall, I
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: don't know. That's another great moment from I couldn't see
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: up that high. All right back here on Patriots Unfiltered
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: eight five five past five hundred is the Ace Ticket
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: hot Line web radio at Patriots dot com. We're talking
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: about everything that's going on in the NFL, Tom Brady
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: retiring and snubbing the Patriots. As people think I think
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: that there's something to come. I could be wrong. I
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: understand why people are upset. We're talking about Josh McDaniels
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: going over to the Raiders and what that means for
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: Mac Jones in the offense, we're talking about the games
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: over the weekend, in the upcoming Super Bowl, so everything's
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: on the table um to talk about. Paul and I
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: had chicken fingers ordering enough the kids huh uh. Back
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: to the phones and then we'll hit some emails. Lots
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: of emails coming in. Aaron's in Flint, Michigan. What's up, Aaron? Hey,
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: what's going on? Hey? Hey? You know what the saying?
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: Foolie want shame on you? Fool me twice? Shame on me? Yeah.
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: Let I let Foo Boo TV app flew me again.
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: This past week on the Cincinnati game, I was watching
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: the old Oh you did it again? Oh? I thought
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: that was funny. But on that game, is it just
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: me or does Tony Romo irritates me when he says, oh,
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: go to the super Bowl in a three minute left
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: in the game. Yeah, and then he's like, well maybe
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: you know he always walks it back a little bit. Yeah, Yeah,
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: I have to put him. Romo is the prototypical guy
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: who is just so reactionary that the words come out
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: before it and he thought, yeah, and people are finally
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: starting to seven Charlie Weiss took a shot at him
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: over there. Yeah. Really, people are finally starting to see that.
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: I kind of that good. I kind of like Romo,
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: but he really had a seizure in this game. The
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: whole kneeling at the one yard line. Do you know
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: the situation, Tony, Yeah, there's no reason for the Chiefs
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: not to want to score, right. I could make an
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: argument right away on first down, right away, right away,
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: which is when he said it, like do you let it?
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: Do you let them score? But that's different than taking
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: a knee at the one yard And he was like,
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: and then if you're the Chiefs, do you take a
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: knee at the one? No? You need a touchdown to
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: win her? What are you do? Like the field goal?
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: He ties it. You can't risk not being able to
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: get in Rice like that was crazy. Yeah, And he
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: kept going on and on when the Giants in the
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: Super Bowl tried to not score on the field goal
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: would have won the game, right, not tight it right?
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: He was Romo, Yeah, Aaron, I hear you. I hear
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: you about Tony. Yeah, yeah, I guess I'll go in
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: a different direction with Brady as far as the i'
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: going One of his blooper moments in the game, and
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: they'll always stick out with him because my brother is
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: the number one Philadephia Eagles fan. And when Brady fell
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: on the quarterback path, well you know where he was
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: trying to catch them, right, Yeah, yeah, didn't look good. Yeah.
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: If news hearing you guys talk about like, if if
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: there's any validity to it, then he'll come sign a
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: one day contract to retime he the Patriot, that will
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: be I hope, so yeah, I hope so too. Yeah,
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: all right, Aaron, thanks for the call. Yeah, I think
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: in recent memory the biggest blue board I've seen Brady
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: mate when he didn't know what down it was. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: held up the four fingers. Yeah yeah, I made a
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: lot of them though he's no, no, no. He ended
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: up winning a Super Bowl that year, So uh, Spee's
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: and Fresno. What's up? Speed's going on? Guys? Thank you
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: doing good. I'm not very plugged into social media, so
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: I don't good for Twitter or anything. Actually, I was
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: not aware of the outrage about Tom's omission of the
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: Patriots until the very start of the show your show today. Um,
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: you know I had seen the statement because my wife
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: sent it to me, but I read it and I
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: just kind of took it at like he was thinking,
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: this is the team that I'm on right now, So
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: this is the team that I'm going to call out
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: right and I'm retiring. But I just assumed that, like
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: he's good, like you were saying, but he's gonna do
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: something for the Patriots. I mean, with the Patriots, good
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: be a big deal. It's a long time to have
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: to cover, you know, to just put it out in
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: a statement right now. Yeah, maybe it's yeah, but you
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: figure you'd say something, you know, But I don't know.
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: I'm assuming something's gonna come, but I could be wrong.
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: And even if something isn't coming, Like he has to
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: know that he's got a lot of stuff to do
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: here in the near immediate future of you know, getting
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: into the Hall, and I mean, he's gonna be around
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: here to go somewhat. So I'm trying to just doesn't
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: make sense to me that he would take a purpose
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: little shot on the way And I don't remember. I'm
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: just thinking off the top of my head here, But
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: like when Jordan left basketball, he was playing for the Wizards,
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: wasn't he at the time, Charlotte or Charlotte, Right, Okaya, Like,
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: I'm sure I don't remember this, but I'm sure he
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: put out some sort of statement and thanked the Bulls
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: for his his years in Chicago, Am I right? I
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: don't know. I mean, I know, but like you, he
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: must chose some statement, like I think he did the
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: uh like I'm done or something like that, right, took
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: out an ad in the NewsPage, yeah, or I don't
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: whatever it was, but like, I'm sure he had to
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: have he had to have thanked the Bulls. I'm sure
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: when Brett Farve retired, he was playing for the Vikings
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: at the time. Right, I'm sure he thanked the Packers
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: and Green Bay for all these years, right, Like, like,
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: this is what you do if you're if you're ending
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: your career in a certain thing, you thank the especially
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: the team or the organization you work the longest with.
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: It's it's incredibly bizarre. It's it's I know, but it
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: seemed like he said a goodbye at the end of
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: those eight pages. Like it's like that was the statement.
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: And if you completely leave out the most obvious thing,
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: it just doesn't make any sense. It's strange. Even if
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: you're gonna do something else. You can hint at it
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: like Patriots Nation love you, you haven't seen the last
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: of you yet, like something like that. I have to
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: admit it is strange. It's bizarre. So now you have
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: everybody kind of holding on thinking that maybe there's something else,
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: but maybe there isn't something else just sitting here right what. Yeah,
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: like he could do like they're waiting for the phone
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: to ring. We've been talking about, you know, will he
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: come back and signed the one day contract, all those
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: kinds of things, the pomp and so he could do
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: it all. I still think it's odd that he didn't
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: mention the Patriots. Yeah, yeah, well anyway, Dave Patten, David
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: Patton passes, A couple of them were like to like
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: touchdown pass that I remember vaguely. I think there was
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: one against the Chicago or something. Yeah, absolutely sick sixt.
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: I wanted to ask you, so you were talking about
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: maybe Bill press the accelerator in the last offseason with
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: the kind of doing trying to do a little bit
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: too much in the rebuild too quickly and I'll hop off.
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: But I wanted to know what what would you have
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: preferred to see him do or moves you didn't want
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: to see him make like, how would you have how
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: would you have slow played that that? Yeah? No, and
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: I saw your emails on the same subject. I really
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: wanted to answer his question. Um, when we talked about that,
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: I put it out there as a conjecture. That's not
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: necessarily that I agree with it, but you join the
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: Felder Yeah, facility is it? Is it possible that they
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: were paid a little too impatient? Yeah? Um, And I
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: was just throwing that out there. What would I have
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: done instead? Well, I wouldn't have taken John hu Smith,
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: I would I I probably Henry Anderson. I probably wouldn't
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: have taken Henry Anderson. And I probably know that. You
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: know I'm being funny there. Yeah, that's that's the hard part, Like,
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: because I get Fred's point, um about the impatience, and
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: maybe you didn't have to spend it all at once,
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: but the kind of did. But then you get into
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: the situation where well, sure, if I had hindsight as
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: my guide, I would have only taken Kendrick Bourne and
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: Udor Henry and Matt Judon and then maybe not the
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: other guys. Yeah, I'll tell you, I would have saved
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: some money and only gotten players that help. I'll tell
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: you one thing I would have done, and I'll joke
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: I would have kept Sony, But that's kind of a
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: joke I would have made. I would I would have
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: made a harder I don't know what was going on
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: behind the scenes with Gilmore, right, but I would have
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: made a harder push for Gilmore. That's and that's what
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: I was going to lead into. And I mean i'd
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: I'd tie it to jac Jackson too, went to the
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: Pro Bowl, got he got the ma he got the
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: mac Jones. Everybody else backed out. But I think you're
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: you're you're a little shorthanded this offseason. You have some questions,
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: get that last game with jac Jackson. You know, some
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: of these guys that maybe you would have liked to
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: have some of that money you had last year this
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: year to recalibrate, because I think they had to know
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: not everybody in the free agency class is going to
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: be a home run, but you'd like to have a
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: chance to maybe recalibrate a little bit this year. And
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: I don't know if they really have that. I feel
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: like they're kind of stuck with with those guys like
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: Aglare and Smith, and you know, they're they're kind of
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: just hoping that that they kind of click on the second.
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: But we talked about it before the time. The Patriots
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: were like the only team with money to spend, you know,
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: because of the COVID, the cap reduction and all that stuff,
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: So you kind have had to do what they did. Now, Yeah, hindsight,
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: maybe not John's, but I can't. I can't disagree with
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: going out and having a spending spree when you had
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: no competition. You know, you were the only ones bidding
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: top dollar for these guys, so you really were able
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: to pick off these guys. You know, but with all
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: that money to spend. Again, I might have used a
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: little more on Gilmore, I don't. Yeah, I mean, and
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: I pushed it into just into the future a little
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: bit more and let and let these initial free agents
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: kind of play out and then have some money to
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: adjust who doesn't quite work out, and you know, not
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: be necessarily tied to people because I think a lot
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: of that money you're you're actually paying it this season,
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: that this is when you're actually given them the cash.
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: So I think that's what makes it a little bit hard,
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: And that's why I think I'm not really holding my
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: breath for a huge free agency. I think it's all
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: the draft, don't you know, don't I mean, it's more
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: likely they pick up a contributing body via trade, I think,
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: than free agency. And how do they rejigger with their
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: own guys, And you know the contracts that they have
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: talked about, Shack Mason, Jonathan Jones, those guys, guys that
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: are up near the top. And I think there's just
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: a lot of work to be done. And then you know,
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: you talk about the Josh of it all and the
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: Ziegler of it all. It's just it's all kind of
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: piling up right now. And I know that they'll address everything,
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: but you're just kind of getting ramped up for how
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: busy it's gonna be over the next few months. All Right,
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: I want to dive into these emails web radio at
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: Patriots dot com. James Pettigrew, the most interesting Patriots fan
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: in the world, writes in I'm with Paul, no need
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: to defend the wall. No other team will achieve or
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: get away with what we have over the last few decades,
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: so we should be good. Also, was I the only
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: one to receive a personal text from Tom thanking me
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: for everything he achieved. Apparently you were because everyone else
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: is very upset. You know, Yeah, most people are really upset,
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: John writes, and he claims to be a lifelong Patriots fan.
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: I believe him. Wtf is wrong with these people who
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: think Brady isn't going to have a separate mention of
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: the Patriots. Tampa Bay is only ten percent of Brady's career,
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: and he ended his career there with the Patriots. Do
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: you seriously think the Patriots team an organization is going
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: to be left out? I think Brady comes back for
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: a day just to retire again as a Patriot, because
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: that's where his heart is. I think Robert Kraft is
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: going to have a special event to honor Tom Brady
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: and then retire Brady's jersey. Brady started his NFL career
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: with the Patriots and became a legend with the Patriots.
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: Let him give his props to the Bucks because it's
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: the right thing to do. Everyone who's ticked off because
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: he hasn't yet mentioned the Patriots will be eating Crow
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: because that's who he really wants to retire his NFL
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: career with. Tom Brady will be back to Gillette to
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: retire as a Patriot. Nobody is disputing that any of
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: what he said about there might be some event or
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: a big sort of to do. It's weird that he
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: didn't mention them at all. Yeah, it's like he completely
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: ignored the twenty years prior to his arriving in Tampa.
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: But I mean, what if he's what if he's thinking,
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: you know what, there's no I can do the Patriots
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: justice in the same thing where I'm mentioning the Bucks.
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: So I'm retiring. My last scene's a Bucks. I'm retiring
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: as a Buck, and then I'll do something with this.
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: So hint at it hint at Patriots nations that people
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: aren't Yeah, haven't seen the last of me something like that.
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: I think he mentioned every single elements, yeah, right of
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: his career, even Michigan. I think I mean Alex Carrera. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: that was the one that was like, but I that's
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: the one that the wall is upset though. That was
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: when I was like starting to be like, well, it
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: just seems like because I agree with fred Kinna that
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: he was you know, he's ending his career with them,
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: and he did put out a huge statement about the
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: Patriots when he left here. And you know, initially I thought,
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: all right, well he's just saying goodbye to Tampa Bay.
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: But you know, as I started reading, then all this
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: send like, well, Alex, well he's been on the whole time.
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: Like to Eric's point, he could say, and as far
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: as the Patriots, I'll refer back to what I said
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: when I left, and I hope to that, you know,
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: to the you know, I still feel the same way
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: some sort of mention, Yeah, some sort of I'm just like,
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: I think it's weird. I'm really all that upset about it.
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: It's weird. Emailer thinks that everybody's upset about it. Some
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: people are upset. I don't need to thank you from
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: Tom Brady for getting to watch him play. You hate him, Yeah,
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: I mean, so what do you care. You're welcome, Robert.
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: I won't forget to do so, Robert and Stale. A
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: year ago, all we heard was how Mahomes would be
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: the goat and pass Tom and rinks. Despite getting throttled
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: in the Super Bowl by the Bucks. We were hearing
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: that noise again for most of Sunday. Mahomes has played
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: poorly in seven of eight quarters in the Super Bowl,
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: it was awful for the last thirty five minutes in
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: the AFC Title Game. There is no next goat. Maybe
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: it was fitting for Tom to lose his last game
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: because his defense couldn't make a big stop when they
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: had to, as that was usually the only thing that
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: could stop Tom in the biggest moments. I've been on
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: the Brady train since he was at Michigan and can't
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: believe what an incredible ride it's been. Best quarterback, best leader,
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: best winner. What we've experienced the last twenty years will
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: never happen again. And Patrick Mahomes has shown us why
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: LFG forever. There you go, that's it right there, right.
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: But that's to Paul's point. You know, you know remember that,
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: dare you say someone else could be the greatest? How
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: dare you say forget the greatest? Because no one, I
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: don't think, would ever say that they're the greatest. Oh.
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: They they were saying that my homes could be the
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: next one. Oh but not my home. And he's the
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: next one. He is the next You know what other
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: talk has subsided? Could Andy Reid eventually be better than
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: Bill Belichick? No answer is no, No, he needs a
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: few more No. Um Brett and Austen. I think Brady's
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: letter that he wrote when he left the Patriots thinking
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: the fans and the crowd. I'll start this over for
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: Brett and Austen. I think Brady's letter that he wrote
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: when he left the page, thanking the fans and the
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: Crafts Bill, etc. Was his retirement letter to the Patriots.
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: He thanked the Bucks this year as he thanked the
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: Patriots two years ago. I doubt there was another hurrah
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: in the pipeline. So he thinks that's it. That he's
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: still bizarre. It doesn't matter, but it's still bizarre. No
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: matter all these explanations, I still come to the same
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: conclusion about it. It's odd and I can't figure out
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: why he would do that intentionally. Well, thank you. If
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: it was just about I'm retiring, thank you to Tampa,
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: you know, then I wouldn't think it's odd. But but
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: it's six seven. Every other entity that's ever cross paths
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: with him was mentioned, except for the Patriots. Breton Virginia
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: Beach wondering if news alerts podcast emails are still a thing,
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: or if the McDaniels news and Brady news. The Schefter
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: report didn't rise to the level of one of those here.
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: They are still a thing and they are still going
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: to be a thing. But we had a like a
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: blizzard on Saturday that you know, we were trying to
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: deal with, So that was kind of a big thing. Um,
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: you know. So I think on a normal weekend or day,
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: if those things happened, we would have had one. We
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: needed an emergency podcast because Josh McDaniels took the Raiders jott. Yeah,
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: I think that would have been like what does this
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: mean for the Patriots. Absolutely, it's funny it happened. We're
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: on the radio and we're not really talking about Wow.
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: I mean, there's other things going on. I think he
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: combined the Brady retirement. About the only thing everybody's talking
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: about is not getting thanked by Brady. That's the only
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: thing that has dominated the two hours of the shelf.
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: Uh Silburton, New York says it's simple. Brady is hurt.
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: He never wanted to leave New England. He felt he
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: can still play at a high level, and the Patriots
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: felt otherwise. Patriots is the wife who dumped him, and
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: Tampa Bay is the new girlfriend who brought him back
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: to life. I love tb and I'm gonna miss him.
- 1:24:55Speaker 1: But there's been other things since then, where like he
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: won a super Bowl with his new team. Yeah, like
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: it's water into the bridge at that point. You know
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: what did Bill say to him in that twenty minutes
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: after the locker, right he had left off the thank you? Right,
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: he spoke to me like he did in the elevator
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: that day when we were going up to the press conference.
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: I read your articles, I saw your super Bowl. It
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: was total thanks. Let's just leave a comment at the
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: bottom like everybody else Andrea New Jersey. First thing, f
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: the Chiefs, Glad they're not going to the super Bowl.
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: The disappointment on Mahome's face and no screaming wife, just
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: bring joy to my heart. Now on to Tom in
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: his incredible career. The game will not be the same
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: without him. Knew it had to end soon, but happy
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: he beat father time and left injury free. Can't thank
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: Kraft and Belichick enough for picking one nine overall and
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: giving him a chance that led to six super Bowls.
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: His competitives, his toughness, and the passion for the game
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: with ice in his veins is what I loved about him.
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: Nobody that will come close to what he did. Gillette
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: start building that statue and by asking this question, isn't
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: it odd for him not to mention the Patriots once
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: on his IG post? Its weird. Yeah, we've been saying
- 1:26:13Speaker 1: it from an hole and a half. Yeah, he's very,
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: very hurt, Andre New Jersey, He's very hurt. It really was.
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: I just again to gott to be so impressed with
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: Tom Brady though, just his ability in the clutch to
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: deliver and to make every single Super Bowl he played
- 1:26:30Speaker 1: in a possibility. And you know those games, they had
- 1:26:33Speaker 1: good games, bad games. But that's the thing I think
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: that it's just makes him so special and sets him
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: so apart. It's just how well he could perform when
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: the game was on the line, when they had to
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: have it, And you can just feel it from like,
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: you know, I was listening to NFL Live yesterday with
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: Mina Kimes talking about it of other fans of just
- 1:26:50Speaker 1: when it started clicking, you knew, like, oh god, Like
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: It's just it felt inevitable at certain times that he
- 1:26:56Speaker 1: was at least going to make a push, if not
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: take the game over. And I mean some of the
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: records he has of like having a losing record going
- 1:27:02Speaker 1: into or you know, having a losing score going into
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: the fourth quarter and he has like a winning record
- 1:27:06Speaker 1: like things like that that are just mind blowing. Chris
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: and Virginia also one is why I didn't mention it,
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: and he says he I also noticed that the picture
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: he posted is him at Gillette this past season. Maybe
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: I'm over. That's going around too. That's going around too.
- 1:27:19Speaker 1: The picture he posted subterfuge where he posted a picture
- 1:27:23Speaker 1: and it was him like smiling and if you look close,
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: he was at Gillette State. Who was this Brady? Brady?
- 1:27:28Speaker 1: The picture he posted was him at from the Tampa Guy.
- 1:27:31Speaker 1: I didn't I didn't look at the thing. I know
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: you didn't. I was asking something I was on part
- 1:27:36Speaker 1: of this thing. Printed it. I printed because in case
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: we were gonna kills more trees than anybody I've ever seen. Yeah,
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: will you file that. We're just talking about how you
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: know and when what we're doing the show, we should
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: referenced the radio the animals made the trees. Eric, think
- 1:27:56Speaker 1: about that. My second question is whether you guys I
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: hate you all, Whether you guys think it right here,
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: I'll start the sea over. My second question is whether
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: you think Hoyer takes some role in the offensive coaching
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: when with Josh leaving. He's good relationship with Mac and
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: it's very knowledgeable of the offense. That's not a bad thought.
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: Does he want to be a coach? Right? Nobody's Does
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: he ever coach? You can? Can he coach? Can coach?
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: Does he have any aptitude for coaching? Right? But you
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: ever coach like a youth basketball? Like? That sounds good?
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: Offensive coordinator? Yeah, I mean, but it's not a bad thought.
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: Then I think it'll be more coaching. That's not right
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: like his career. You're not going to be the backup
- 1:28:43Speaker 1: quarterback next year, Brian, But what do you think about
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: trying to cut your teeth? We think that you'd be
- 1:28:48Speaker 1: good at this as the assistant quarterbacks coach. Just approaching
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: a coaching assistant along those lines, did you guys see
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: I think I told you this yesterday Duce the Texans
- 1:28:58Speaker 1: I think it was the Texans had two interviews with
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: Josh McCown. Oh yeah, Josh McCown is for their head
- 1:29:05Speaker 1: coaching because head coaching candidate for Houston. I mean, it
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: doesn't that sound a little ridiculous. It's very it's very,
- 1:29:11Speaker 1: very very hurt. No, it's very ridiculous. Um now, at
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: least he I think he has coached. Yeah, I thought
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: he just finished playing in high school, all right, I
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: just finished playing. Yeah, but he came back only for
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: he was the COVID emergency quarterback. He's been retired for
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: a couple of years. But it's still ridiculous. He has
- 1:29:29Speaker 1: not coached at the NFL left, and someone is offering, well, well,
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: they must have missed that question in the first interview,
- 1:29:36Speaker 1: like where it gets back, So you never I think
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: he at all? Yeah, I don't. I don't my knowledge,
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: I don't think he's had any experience at the NFL level.
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: It's funny, though, Travis in Baltimore. I'm sure Paul is
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: already pooping on the pages fans who I'm sure have
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: called into complaining. I'm not pop. I'm not pooping on you.
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: I think it's odd. I'm seriously I'm not pooping. But
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: I feel the same way as those who are a
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: little miffed about Brady's post. If Peyton Manning could thank
- 1:30:01Speaker 1: Indy twice, once when he left the team and again
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: in his retirement speech, he even thanked Patriots fans, I'm
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: supposed to assume Tom Brady's thumbs got tired writing an
- 1:30:10Speaker 1: Instagram post and couldn't even put a sentence about New
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: England in there. Give me a break. The omission was intentional.
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: I don't think anyone can dispute that. I just hope
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: the intention was a good one, maybe for a surprise
- 1:30:21Speaker 1: announcement later, and not a bad one. A middle finger
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: to New England. Yeah, I'm not pooping on you guys
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: for thinking it's strange. Like I don't. It doesn't bother me,
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: But if it bothers you, I'm I'm not here to
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: tell I'm not a big fan of having people tell
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: you how you should feel. I'm not a big fan
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: of that. Leave that to the left. Oh, they like
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: to tell everybody how they feel. But here's the funny thing.
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: Josh Josh McCown right, Yeah, not even the head coach
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: at high school's offensive assistant at Rush High School in Rusk, Texas, offensive,
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: not even offensive coordinator. It's Josh right, Josh Josh McCown. Yeah,
- 1:31:08Speaker 1: I mean, according to the Wikipedia, their cas he was
- 1:31:10Speaker 1: born on July fourth. How about that. Let's get back
- 1:31:17Speaker 1: to the aceticket half line. Uh Lilith is in Orlando. Hello, Lilith,
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: Lilith train Yeah, Frazier Lilith, I'm listening. Hey, hey, guys,
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: take my call. I don't know. Maybe you guys are
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: able to clarify. After the Bucks game, Brady hadn't been
- 1:31:37Speaker 1: something about returning back to Foxborough, whether it's to take
- 1:31:40Speaker 1: care of business or handle some matters or some sort.
- 1:31:44Speaker 1: He did say he'd be back, he'd have things to do. Yeah,
- 1:31:47Speaker 1: he did say that. He said, I'll be up there,
- 1:31:49Speaker 1: I'll be around, can potentially announce something over here at
- 1:31:52Speaker 1: a Foxborough I just I don't know. I feel a
- 1:31:55Speaker 1: lot of Bill Belichick rubbed off into Brady where he
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: won't addressed the elephant in a room. I love. It's
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: pretty professional. Yeah. So, and so maybe he does have
- 1:32:04Speaker 1: something going on over here in New England. It'd be
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: funny he's got in he's got this big secret for
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: New England and then Adam Schefter leaks it out, ruins
- 1:32:12Speaker 1: it again. Yeah, yeah, it could be. I would like
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: that could be. Yeah. And then one final thing, in
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: regards to Max Jones and Josh McDaniel exiting New England,
- 1:32:24Speaker 1: how do you need to feel his development is going
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: to go now that Josh, I mean one year under
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: Josh's you know, play calling on offense. He obviously did
- 1:32:32Speaker 1: it pretty well. Does that change going into next season?
- 1:32:36Speaker 1: And depends who Hi, thanks guys. Yeah, it depends. Yeah,
- 1:32:41Speaker 1: it depends on a lot. Mac Jones like that too.
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: He needs We'll see if he develops. I mean, I
- 1:32:46Speaker 1: would feel more comfortable if it's somebody who has been
- 1:32:49Speaker 1: in the system, or at least you feel like there's
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: some kind of continuity. Um. But like I mean, I think,
- 1:32:54Speaker 1: like Paul's hinting out, I mean, I think it's a
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: lot up to Mac to you know, make those strides,
- 1:32:58Speaker 1: and you know he's played football before. I still feel
- 1:33:01Speaker 1: like it's not completely dependent. But I hope that he
- 1:33:04Speaker 1: can find somebody that he can work with. And um,
- 1:33:07Speaker 1: Eric I did look up by the way he did.
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: Bill O'Brien did credit Mac Jones for helping him. I did.
- 1:33:11Speaker 1: I did find. I know we're making fun of that
- 1:33:13Speaker 1: a little bit, but you know that, I mean it's
- 1:33:15Speaker 1: probably what they spend like a couple of days together,
- 1:33:17Speaker 1: but you know, just some layout you'd like that to
- 1:33:19Speaker 1: be a symbiotic relationship that you know somebody's going to
- 1:33:22Speaker 1: come in and be excited to work with with Mac
- 1:33:24Speaker 1: and know what he does, and you know, maybe bringing
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: a new twist or a new set of eyes to
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: the offense. And I think that, you know, that's something
- 1:33:31Speaker 1: I just I'm intrigued with Bill Brian. He's been around
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: a little bit. He's taken what he learned here, he's
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: tried to apply it in college in other NFL teams,
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: So I just I think that experience could serve him
- 1:33:42Speaker 1: well in terms of coming back and just you know,
- 1:33:44Speaker 1: maybe bringing something fresh to the offense that you know,
- 1:33:47Speaker 1: no no, no, no slide against Josh, but just I
- 1:33:49Speaker 1: think anytime you get somebody new, you're going to get
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: something a little bit different, and maybe he'll employ the
- 1:33:53Speaker 1: personnel in a little bit of a different way that
- 1:33:55Speaker 1: maybe gives the Patriots some kind of flare in twenty
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: twenty two they didn't have last year. Um Alyssa writes
- 1:34:01Speaker 1: in I Have a theory. She says, what if the
- 1:34:04Speaker 1: last episode of Man in the Arena is a thank
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: you episode to the Patriots nation. He brings on Bill
- 1:34:10Speaker 1: and Robert Kraft, and Brady goes into depth about his
- 1:34:12Speaker 1: time in New England. The whole thing was about his
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: time in New England. I'm starting to wonder if there's
- 1:34:18Speaker 1: enough that Tom Brady can do now to make up
- 1:34:20Speaker 1: for this light No, but like the last episode of
- 1:34:24Speaker 1: The Man in the Arena is going to be about
- 1:34:25Speaker 1: his retiring. I don't I thought that as soon as
- 1:34:28Speaker 1: they announced that, yes, band, guys get it and all
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: of that could be true. I don't understand why the
- 1:34:35Speaker 1: Patriots couldn't be included in the state. Yeah, yeah, that's
- 1:34:38Speaker 1: the right, that's the bottom line to all. It remains odd, curious, curious.
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: Even if he does do something after this, it still
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: remains curious that he didn't do it. Like it looks
- 1:34:49Speaker 1: like a petty like back turning, like I'm not talking
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: to you kind of thing. It looks it's we'll see
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: that still feels like I just I don't really buy
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: like that this was intentional because it seems like the
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: most petty, stupid thing ever, Like you know, like I so,
- 1:35:04Speaker 1: I don't really buy that there's some kind of vitriol
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: now that he is like expressing by not saying anything.
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: He's since come out. I mean, he did a tweet.
- 1:35:10Speaker 1: I don't know if that's enough for every responded. Yeah,
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: I think he put out his own tweet too, Anna
- 1:35:16Speaker 1: and tel Aviv. Well, it took me two years to
- 1:35:19Speaker 1: process Brady's leaving to the Bucks, and now that I'm
- 1:35:22Speaker 1: finally happy for him and want him to succeed he retires.
- 1:35:25Speaker 1: It is hard to watch Brady leave the game, especially
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: at the level he was playing at. I have to
- 1:35:30Speaker 1: believe that Brady left out the Patriots in his ig
- 1:35:32Speaker 1: and focus solely on the Bucks organization because he's going
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: to retire as a Patriot and his tribute to the
- 1:35:37Speaker 1: Patriots will come at that time. A few remaining thoughts,
- 1:35:41Speaker 1: I root for whoever has the least chance of catching
- 1:35:43Speaker 1: the Patriots and Brady's Super Bowl titles. That's my rule
- 1:35:47Speaker 1: and I'm sticking with it. In the case of the
- 1:35:49Speaker 1: Bengals versus the Rams, it's a tough one. Finally, I
- 1:35:52Speaker 1: blamed Giselle for everything, for Brady leaving the Patriots and
- 1:35:56Speaker 1: for him retiring. Well, they still got through more titles
- 1:36:00Speaker 1: out of him whence Giselle came into the picture, so
- 1:36:02Speaker 1: she wasn't didn't ruin it that much. Yeah, let's see
- 1:36:09Speaker 1: talking about best throws for the Patriots, I mean for Brady.
- 1:36:12Speaker 1: Randy says some that come to mind are Malcolm Mitchell
- 1:36:15Speaker 1: and San Francisco in the touchdown against Baltimore to take
- 1:36:18Speaker 1: the league. That's San Francisco one. That was that was
- 1:36:21Speaker 1: a good one. I remember was cutting across the another
- 1:36:26Speaker 1: player for that. Yeah, he just run. I mean after
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: the catch. It was kind of the way that I
- 1:36:31Speaker 1: didn't get like narrowed narrowly got in between some guys
- 1:36:33Speaker 1: to get to Malcolm Mitchell on and then he turned
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: out the field to definitely the Brandon lo fell one. Yeah. Uh, Cannon,
- 1:36:41Speaker 1: New Jersey says, I think there are two plays that
- 1:36:44Speaker 1: explain the difference between Brady and Mahomes. The first is
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: Mahomes at the end of the half on Sunday, and
- 1:36:50Speaker 1: the other is Brady on the sideline when it was
- 1:36:52Speaker 1: fourth and inches late in the game. During Super Bowl
- 1:36:55Speaker 1: fifty three, NFL films caught him saying, let's just kick
- 1:36:58Speaker 1: the field goal and win the game. One guy wants
- 1:37:01Speaker 1: to be the crazy side arm playground superman, and the
- 1:37:04Speaker 1: other doesn't care who gets the credit as long as
- 1:37:06Speaker 1: they win. You see, That's what happened. Yeah, and I
- 1:37:09Speaker 1: blame this Mike on you. Yeah, I really don't care
- 1:37:13Speaker 1: that he didn't mention the Patriots in his post. Whatever,
- 1:37:16Speaker 1: let's not get two worked up over it. It was
- 1:37:18Speaker 1: a wild ride for two decades and I'm thankful. So
- 1:37:21Speaker 1: why don't you look at it this way? Why in
- 1:37:24Speaker 1: the world would the head coach have to be talked
- 1:37:27Speaker 1: into kicking that field goal, which he was, He had
- 1:37:30Speaker 1: to be talked into it. Instead, they find a way
- 1:37:34Speaker 1: to manufacture hate for somebody else. I'm astounded by it.
- 1:37:38Speaker 1: I never will stop being astounded by it. It amazes me.
- 1:37:41Speaker 1: Somehow Patrick Mahomes had something to do with Stephen Gastowski's
- 1:37:46Speaker 1: game ceiling field goal in the Super Bowl against the Rams.
- 1:37:50Speaker 1: Barton poem. By the way, the quarterback had to convince
- 1:37:53Speaker 1: the coach was the right call, right. We all saw
- 1:37:57Speaker 1: the and Brady was wo have be incredulous, like, yeah,
- 1:38:01Speaker 1: we're gonna go the field goal. The game is over, right, yeah,
- 1:38:05Speaker 1: Barton Poland just as I predicted Bengals versus Rams. Wasn't
- 1:38:08Speaker 1: it nice to see the Chiefs choke it Atlanta style? Also,
- 1:38:12Speaker 1: rookie mac Jones Pro Bowl has a nice ring to it,
- 1:38:14Speaker 1: and of course Pro Bowl appearances are useless stats. But
- 1:38:17Speaker 1: I think that it will be a valuable experience for Mac,
- 1:38:20Speaker 1: and I'm glad he's going to Vegas. And when it
- 1:38:22Speaker 1: comes to Brady, it's a shame that I never got
- 1:38:24Speaker 1: to see him live. I was hoping that the Bucks
- 1:38:26Speaker 1: would come to Germany next season so I could go,
- 1:38:29Speaker 1: but it seems as it is too late. Now I
- 1:38:32Speaker 1: guess I'll wait for the Patriots in Mac to come
- 1:38:34Speaker 1: to Europe. Okay, yeah, belong, sure, I'm I'm excited to
- 1:38:40Speaker 1: watch Mac in the Pro Bowl. I haven't been excited
- 1:38:41Speaker 1: about anything to do with the Pro Bowl since I Wassily.
- 1:38:45Speaker 1: I just well, we will have a content team out there,
- 1:38:50Speaker 1: and you know, not so much the game, but the
- 1:38:52Speaker 1: stuff during the week will be pumping out for sure.
- 1:38:55Speaker 1: That's different the Pro Bowl. Interactions with other players, interactions
- 1:38:59Speaker 1: other ox in our mactions. It's going global. Yeah, so
- 1:39:04Speaker 1: we'll have stuff coming from the Pro Bowl. Suddenly, Vegas
- 1:39:07Speaker 1: breakdown throws another country. Vegas is overseas all of a sudden, Mario,
- 1:39:12Speaker 1: Mario and Derby Connecticut been listening since O for and
- 1:39:17Speaker 1: this is the first time I'm not aligned with any
- 1:39:20Speaker 1: of you. That retirement post was an insult to every
- 1:39:24Speaker 1: single person in New England. Caps all Caps. We stood
- 1:39:28Speaker 1: by that weirdo through the flake gate, that lame long
- 1:39:32Speaker 1: hairdo and oh wait, and putting up with his TV
- 1:39:35Speaker 1: twelve Alex Grafrado nonsense. And now he retires and doesn't
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: acknowledge the Patriots fans. I wouldn't care if he didn't
- 1:39:42Speaker 1: acknowledge Craft and Build due to his own pettiness. But
- 1:39:45Speaker 1: we the fans deserve better, all Caps. I'll be burning
- 1:39:49Speaker 1: my Brady jersey today. He's dead to me. Wow scenario
- 1:39:53Speaker 1: and Derby, Connecticut. He's not coming up for the retirement
- 1:39:56Speaker 1: ceremony in two alert the Derby fire to apartment is
- 1:40:00Speaker 1: going to be a bonfire at Mario's house. How does
- 1:40:03Speaker 1: he disagree with it? I think we all kind of agree.
- 1:40:05Speaker 1: It's weird. Yeah, that he didn't acknowledge that he's mad
- 1:40:08Speaker 1: when not mad. Yeah, he's mad that we're not mad
- 1:40:10Speaker 1: about it. Some people are mad. I'm not us on
- 1:40:12Speaker 1: this show. I'm not mad, I mean mad. Deuce is
- 1:40:17Speaker 1: mad about everything. He's not mad about this. He hated
- 1:40:20Speaker 1: to thank me for you hated Brady. If Robert crafton
- 1:40:23Speaker 1: Jonathan want to be mad that he didn't thank him, fine,
- 1:40:25Speaker 1: but he didn't need to thank me. Anything. He gave
- 1:40:27Speaker 1: me freaking twenty years of how the guy who hates Brady,
- 1:40:31Speaker 1: he's the only one who's not mad. Yeah, I don't
- 1:40:33Speaker 1: have any expectation. I think Deuce is suppressing something. That's
- 1:40:37Speaker 1: what it is. He didn't expect anything. I would not
- 1:40:42Speaker 1: want to I would not want to be on the
- 1:40:44Speaker 1: road passing Deuce, like cutting him off today, because I
- 1:40:47Speaker 1: think it'll all come out in a fit of road rade.
- 1:40:49Speaker 1: No one's gonna pas men be flying just soad. I
- 1:40:52Speaker 1: think he's he's suppressing. Yeah, that's not healthy, Deuce. He's
- 1:40:57Speaker 1: got to let it out. Now it's all over. I'm
- 1:40:58Speaker 1: happy I don't have to deal with him being hung
- 1:41:00Speaker 1: around my neck or you know, for the rest of
- 1:41:03Speaker 1: around your neck An Albert, right, yeah, um, Alex and Pentucket, Yes,
- 1:41:11Speaker 1: I know, Petucket. How did you get How was snow
- 1:41:13Speaker 1: in your area? By the way, Eric, I measured? I
- 1:41:16Speaker 1: went out with the yardstick. I did not I did.
- 1:41:20Speaker 1: Did you send it into a weather station? No? I
- 1:41:22Speaker 1: know Erica anyway, Eric twenty two, twenty two. Yeah, that
- 1:41:29Speaker 1: was that like a drift or no, I went to
- 1:41:31Speaker 1: a flat because there were plenty of drifts that were
- 1:41:33Speaker 1: higher than that. How was your shoveling? Was that the
- 1:41:35Speaker 1: first time you shovel pain in the ass you had
- 1:41:40Speaker 1: to shovel all that. Yeah, it is a snowblower. Snowblower,
- 1:41:44Speaker 1: it'll be ready in the spring. F Tony Mazerotti with Okay,
- 1:41:47Speaker 1: I get it that Arrands gave you a free snowblower.
- 1:41:51Speaker 1: You have to like tweet out every like moment that
- 1:41:53Speaker 1: you were out there snowblower's embarrassing. Um, but I would
- 1:41:57Speaker 1: have thought you would have like looked different. One. Wow,
- 1:42:02Speaker 1: they're all book Paul. You can't get a plow. They're
- 1:42:04Speaker 1: all booked. There's no plows. Never heard kids? Did you
- 1:42:07Speaker 1: go on the app like I told you, No, you
- 1:42:09Speaker 1: could have forgotten one. Yeah. No, neighborhood kids running around
- 1:42:12Speaker 1: look flows in mos Yeah. I could make a quick
- 1:42:15Speaker 1: books with like z at the end. Yeah, we had
- 1:42:18Speaker 1: these kids in my neighborhood. They they've got a four
- 1:42:20Speaker 1: by four. They're like probably twelve thirteen years old. They
- 1:42:23Speaker 1: got a four by four with a mini plow on
- 1:42:24Speaker 1: the come do it. They were driving around the neighborhood.
- 1:42:26Speaker 1: Just good for them, just looking for That's what I like.
- 1:42:29Speaker 1: If I had a simpler I feel like that would
- 1:42:31Speaker 1: be me. I would be going around you need, like
- 1:42:33Speaker 1: I just be handing out plows. But meanwhile, it's like
- 1:42:35Speaker 1: every one of your neighbors has one, comes out, does
- 1:42:37Speaker 1: their own driveway, and then goes back. You know what,
- 1:42:39Speaker 1: That's a good point because I'm out there shoveling, right
- 1:42:42Speaker 1: and these guys are driving by in their pickups, and
- 1:42:45Speaker 1: I tried to like flag them down because I was
- 1:42:47Speaker 1: willing to give somebody one hundred bucks if they did it,
- 1:42:50Speaker 1: and they just kept going like f them. Like if
- 1:42:54Speaker 1: I had to, if I had to pick up with
- 1:42:55Speaker 1: a plow, I would be helping people. I'd be like, hey,
- 1:42:58Speaker 1: you need a hand. You see something like absolutely hot
- 1:43:01Speaker 1: young ladies struggling with a shoveling bag. Yeah, I'd be
- 1:43:04Speaker 1: like on the way to even if I was doing it,
- 1:43:06Speaker 1: i'd stop it. You need a hand just to get
- 1:43:08Speaker 1: it going. I agree that I have a neighbor who
- 1:43:12Speaker 1: does that. He's got to a plow on his Basically
- 1:43:15Speaker 1: he goes around everybody on our street and he'll at
- 1:43:17Speaker 1: least do the entrance, you know, like that's that's a
- 1:43:20Speaker 1: nice snow in the front of your driveway. He clears
- 1:43:24Speaker 1: that out for everybody. Like if someone had actually like
- 1:43:26Speaker 1: stopped to ask what I was waving them down for
- 1:43:28Speaker 1: and they said, no, I was gonna. I was gonna say,
- 1:43:30Speaker 1: what would Jesus do if Jesus was driving around at
- 1:43:32Speaker 1: a plow, he'd help me? Come on, friends, all exhausted
- 1:43:36Speaker 1: and sweat and please we do that. We help. The
- 1:43:40Speaker 1: whole street basically is out there at the same time.
- 1:43:42Speaker 1: I mean, it's a small little cul de sad. Can
- 1:43:44Speaker 1: you know we all do it? Yeah, Like, it's not
- 1:43:46Speaker 1: that I don't understand why. I just and I was
- 1:43:49Speaker 1: willing to pay cash money good, Yeah, I was. I
- 1:43:51Speaker 1: was like getting to the end of ours, which was great.
- 1:43:53Speaker 1: Someone did the end where the plow comes to get it,
- 1:43:55Speaker 1: because he gets to the end of the driveway and
- 1:43:56Speaker 1: you have that giant round and my next door neighbor
- 1:43:59Speaker 1: was doing it and I up like kind of looking
- 1:44:01Speaker 1: over the shoulder, being like, he's gonna pop over and
- 1:44:03Speaker 1: be like, hey, let me let me finish it. Nope, nothing.
- 1:44:05Speaker 1: I kept looking back to you're too new to the guests.
- 1:44:08Speaker 1: But that took me an hour and forty five minutes.
- 1:44:10Speaker 1: If I had a p I'd be looking for every
- 1:44:12Speaker 1: opportunity to use. You know, it's not like it's snows
- 1:44:15Speaker 1: every weekend. Yeah right, right, my god, Alex writes in
- 1:44:19Speaker 1: from the day has finally come at twenty five years old,
- 1:44:22Speaker 1: I find it crazy to imagine football without Tom. He's
- 1:44:25Speaker 1: been part of my of so many great football memories
- 1:44:28Speaker 1: I have for the Patriots of his career. I believe
- 1:44:30Speaker 1: he has the same mindset of Bill Belichick a year early,
- 1:44:34Speaker 1: over a year late as to why is retiring now?
- 1:44:38Speaker 1: Power to him for knowing himself. Happy retirement, conspiracy. Josh
- 1:44:41Speaker 1: left for Vegas and Kraft told him, if you retire
- 1:44:44Speaker 1: from playing, you can come coach the offense for the Patriots.
- 1:44:48Speaker 1: This is like really happening. I just had a friend
- 1:44:52Speaker 1: text me and saying, now these guys are on the
- 1:44:54Speaker 1: radio calling in saying he didn't think the Patriots because
- 1:44:57Speaker 1: he's coming back to be the offensive coordent. He doesn't
- 1:44:59Speaker 1: spend another time. Now he's going to be a coach.
- 1:45:02Speaker 1: Find the only thing that takes more time than being
- 1:45:05Speaker 1: the greatest quarterback of all time? Right right, Let's go
- 1:45:08Speaker 1: to Todd North Carolina on the ACE Ticket hot Line.
- 1:45:10Speaker 1: What's up, Todd? You guys are simply the best and
- 1:45:14Speaker 1: you've got to understand winter for you guys, is under
- 1:45:17Speaker 1: is okay. But here, as soon as you get skipped
- 1:45:19Speaker 1: a snow, you get these guys with their front jacked
- 1:45:21Speaker 1: up four wheel drive. They put it in four they
- 1:45:23Speaker 1: think they're gonna go, and you watch them stewing a
- 1:45:25Speaker 1: four week wheel skid down the main street. Here is
- 1:45:28Speaker 1: just insane, like killer, dangerous start hands. Well, I think
- 1:45:36Speaker 1: what I'm doingious about is the coaching change. So who
- 1:45:39Speaker 1: Josh might takeover? And people have been saying mayo on that,
- 1:45:41Speaker 1: but I was wondering, is this an opportunity for one
- 1:45:43Speaker 1: of the young Belichicks to get out and to get
- 1:45:46Speaker 1: from me, you know, experience outside of the organization, to
- 1:45:49Speaker 1: kind of you know, make his own name so he's
- 1:45:51Speaker 1: not attached to Bill. Would that be a well, you
- 1:45:53Speaker 1: would think, yeah, but if somebody wants to hire exactly, yeah,
- 1:45:57Speaker 1: I mean Bill just can't pick up the phone say
- 1:46:00Speaker 1: I are my kid. Yeah. But like, yeah, I mean
- 1:46:03Speaker 1: if if Steve Belle, if Josh wanted Steve Belichick, I
- 1:46:06Speaker 1: think that would be the best thing for Steve Belichick
- 1:46:08Speaker 1: is to go somewhere else to succeed, obviously, rather than
- 1:46:11Speaker 1: under his dad. Yeah, yeah, and I'm with Duce. I'm
- 1:46:15Speaker 1: actually really optimistic about this next year because I think
- 1:46:18Speaker 1: there's a core there for the offense right now was
- 1:46:20Speaker 1: born and I think Algala can contribute a little bit
- 1:46:23Speaker 1: and you know, who knows, maybe can get John who
- 1:46:25Speaker 1: going a little bit, there's not there to get going.
- 1:46:27Speaker 1: I just think we need to fix that defense a
- 1:46:30Speaker 1: little bit. But I wonder do we need to have
- 1:46:34Speaker 1: actual somebody named as the as the defensive coach and
- 1:46:38Speaker 1: our OC and a DC or is he I think
- 1:46:40Speaker 1: I'll just going to kind of slide through and say, okay,
- 1:46:43Speaker 1: well we'll just shuffle people around. What do you think
- 1:46:44Speaker 1: I mean, I guess it's not as important as somebody
- 1:46:47Speaker 1: actually doing it, you know, because I just think Bill
- 1:46:50Speaker 1: can't do everything. Yeah, I think there is. I think
- 1:46:53Speaker 1: there is um a need to have a title attached
- 1:46:56Speaker 1: to somebody, for somebody to have the account of you
- 1:47:01Speaker 1: can't just you know, nebulously throw around. Well, it's the
- 1:47:03Speaker 1: coaching staffs. I mean, yes, they all contribute to parts
- 1:47:08Speaker 1: of the game plan, but somebody needs to be helped.
- 1:47:11Speaker 1: Like every time the offense played poorly, who got blamed? Josh?
- 1:47:15Speaker 1: Every time the defense played poorly, who got blamed. I
- 1:47:18Speaker 1: don't know, well what somebody needs to take the blame for.
- 1:47:21Speaker 1: But what if all the accountability is internal, like the
- 1:47:24Speaker 1: players know who, then does it matter whether or not
- 1:47:27Speaker 1: we play? Well, that's the thing I said. What if
- 1:47:30Speaker 1: they do know and it doesn't matter what we know?
- 1:47:34Speaker 1: But okay, it's not unusual for Bill to wait a
- 1:47:39Speaker 1: year or two before giving a title to a person
- 1:47:42Speaker 1: to be the coordinator. He did it with Josh, he
- 1:47:44Speaker 1: did wait. But I don't think that has to do
- 1:47:46Speaker 1: with accountability. But this is three years now, right that
- 1:47:50Speaker 1: they didn't have somebody, it seems like it's I got here. Yeah.
- 1:47:54Speaker 1: I sighed more with Eric on this, and the reason is,
- 1:47:57Speaker 1: and I don't know this to be a fact, Fred,
- 1:47:59Speaker 1: So you could be right. We don't know. But I
- 1:48:02Speaker 1: think there's some confusion in the defensive meeting rooms based
- 1:48:06Speaker 1: on some of the things I've heard, especially this season.
- 1:48:09Speaker 1: I think there's some confusion as to which message message
- 1:48:13Speaker 1: they're supposed to be heating. I don't think they know
- 1:48:15Speaker 1: who's in charge. Yeah, I think there's some confusion there. Well,
- 1:48:18Speaker 1: that's the thing. That's why I said, as as long
- 1:48:20Speaker 1: as they know, and I'm not saying they do, but
- 1:48:22Speaker 1: as long as they know, I don't think the titles
- 1:48:24Speaker 1: are that important, but I think it helps to have it. No,
- 1:48:28Speaker 1: if there if there's a clear structure established and they
- 1:48:31Speaker 1: know that Steve Belichick is the defensive coordinator, they just
- 1:48:35Speaker 1: don't name them that so we don't know, right, No
- 1:48:37Speaker 1: problem with that, Right. I don't think that's That's all
- 1:48:39Speaker 1: I'm saying. But that might not be. That's happened. It
- 1:48:42Speaker 1: may not be. I think I don't think the players
- 1:48:44Speaker 1: know any more than we do. And if you've got
- 1:48:45Speaker 1: three different people who are sort of collaborating and says
- 1:48:49Speaker 1: to you do this, and Fred says you do that,
- 1:48:51Speaker 1: and pols as you do this, problem, who do I
- 1:48:53Speaker 1: listen to? That's a problem, and that's a problem in
- 1:48:56Speaker 1: any walk of life. But I think it's been a problem.
- 1:48:58Speaker 1: There is um this year because Eric is right. I
- 1:49:01Speaker 1: think when you talk about Mayo and Steve Belichick, that's
- 1:49:04Speaker 1: only part of it. There's also been Bill Belichick, and
- 1:49:07Speaker 1: there's also Matt Patricia. And I'm wondering if maybe all
- 1:49:11Speaker 1: of these voices have a platform, and yet they're not
- 1:49:16Speaker 1: really sure exactly. If there's messages that are being sent
- 1:49:20Speaker 1: that are different which ones. I mean, I would imagine
- 1:49:23Speaker 1: that they're siding with whatever Bill says, but if it's different,
- 1:49:27Speaker 1: that can be tough to deal with. I think that's asually, Paul.
- 1:49:29Speaker 1: I don't think we've ever really that's been brought up before.
- 1:49:31Speaker 1: And I like it because, you know, somebody like d Mac,
- 1:49:35Speaker 1: like Garrett Practice, and Mattie Pete comes over and hey,
- 1:49:38Speaker 1: this guy was my defensive quarter We start talking a
- 1:49:40Speaker 1: little bit. You know that's, yeah, that's a little different,
- 1:49:43Speaker 1: or you know, I agree. I think that you've had
- 1:49:45Speaker 1: former guys that still have perspectives on the team, but
- 1:49:48Speaker 1: I just think that they're getting so flight that they
- 1:49:51Speaker 1: need to have somebody who can take over the defense
- 1:49:54Speaker 1: and say, we've got to turn this over this offseason.
- 1:49:56Speaker 1: These are gonna have a lot of new pieces. But
- 1:49:58Speaker 1: then offensively the same thing. You've got a young quarterback.
- 1:50:01Speaker 1: You're trying to get this offense to a level where
- 1:50:02Speaker 1: you can compete in the AFC. I mean, it's hugely
- 1:50:05Speaker 1: important and to just say well, we're just going to
- 1:50:07Speaker 1: turn it over to you know, the next guy, and
- 1:50:09Speaker 1: we'll hire some young replacement assistance and now these guys
- 1:50:12Speaker 1: all to prove themselves and you know, probably a little
- 1:50:14Speaker 1: bit more on Bill this year. Like that just doesn't
- 1:50:16Speaker 1: seem like a good formula at this stage. At this stage,
- 1:50:18Speaker 1: he seems like he needs to have a couple trusted
- 1:50:20Speaker 1: lieutenants who can run the show like Josh did, oversee
- 1:50:23Speaker 1: everything and step in when he needs to. But I
- 1:50:25Speaker 1: would really like to see a defensive coordinator name I
- 1:50:27Speaker 1: would too. I think it's important I would do. And
- 1:50:29Speaker 1: I think, you know, we went through this a few
- 1:50:31Speaker 1: years ago when not only when Patricia went to Detroit,
- 1:50:35Speaker 1: but then Flores went to Miami the year after that,
- 1:50:38Speaker 1: there was a there was a drain from the coaching
- 1:50:41Speaker 1: and personnel continued and you're like, okay, they had enough
- 1:50:44Speaker 1: people to like promote from within at the time. Now
- 1:50:46Speaker 1: it's even thinner than it was at that point too.
- 1:50:50Speaker 1: I think they might have that he might be forced
- 1:50:52Speaker 1: to go outside this time and bring some people. What
- 1:50:54Speaker 1: what are the protocols? And I mean not actually particle
- 1:50:57Speaker 1: is probably the wrong word. Just what is like the
- 1:51:00Speaker 1: working agreement where if I'm going to leave my job,
- 1:51:04Speaker 1: who you're okay with me taking or you know, it's
- 1:51:07Speaker 1: just weird to think, like if I was like I'm leaving.
- 1:51:08Speaker 1: I'm gonna take Matt Morrell. I'm gonna take you know,
- 1:51:11Speaker 1: like and screw your current like And I know that
- 1:51:13Speaker 1: sometimes you're like, well, we can't offer that guy a
- 1:51:15Speaker 1: promotion and he's stuck there. And yes, it makes sense,
- 1:51:17Speaker 1: but I just don't know where the line is for
- 1:51:19Speaker 1: who's okay to go who's not okay to go? Is
- 1:51:22Speaker 1: that an explicit conversation where well, we're not gonna mind
- 1:51:24Speaker 1: if you take coach egg conversation? Yeah, I mean it
- 1:51:29Speaker 1: came up in twenty nineteen when we went to Miami
- 1:51:33Speaker 1: and people were wondering, oh, why why did Bill run
- 1:51:36Speaker 1: up the score against the Dolphins in Week two? And
- 1:51:38Speaker 1: some people at the time, I remember, we're speculating that
- 1:51:41Speaker 1: Flores took some people from the staff that Bill wasn't
- 1:51:44Speaker 1: happy with and was trying to stick it to him
- 1:51:47Speaker 1: in that game. Now, whether that's true or not, we
- 1:51:49Speaker 1: don't know. We weren't privy to that, but that's that
- 1:51:51Speaker 1: was a conversation to your point, Duce, that was going
- 1:51:53Speaker 1: on at that time. Absolutely, and for the most part,
- 1:51:56Speaker 1: the guys that leave get promotions, but it's not like
- 1:51:58Speaker 1: always that case. And I do think I remember that
- 1:52:00Speaker 1: I think there was some speculation that maybe Bill wasn't
- 1:52:03Speaker 1: thrilled that Flores took as many guys as he did.
- 1:52:07Speaker 1: You know who knows yep. Anthony says, it's not weird
- 1:52:10Speaker 1: about what Brady did. He did all his thinking when
- 1:52:13Speaker 1: he left. The Patriots. Man in the Arena is a
- 1:52:15Speaker 1: giant reminisce remember the good old days for the Patriots fans.
- 1:52:19Speaker 1: He had good things to say when he came back
- 1:52:21Speaker 1: with Tampa. Tam didn't owe New England anything more than
- 1:52:24Speaker 1: what he gave us. Let him enjoy his moment with
- 1:52:26Speaker 1: his current team. He will always be a Patriot no
- 1:52:29Speaker 1: matter who he puts on his ig. I agree that
- 1:52:33Speaker 1: he didn't know anybody anything, yep, But you can't agree
- 1:52:37Speaker 1: that the explanation doesn't make any sense. Again, he thanked
- 1:52:41Speaker 1: everybody but the Patriots and nothing. I'm not I've not
- 1:52:45Speaker 1: heard one argument yet that makes me think, oh yeah,
- 1:52:47Speaker 1: that's plausible. It's not like the Patriots when he left,
- 1:52:53Speaker 1: and I know the man in the arena, there was
- 1:52:56Speaker 1: one of the I think it was after the Rams one.
- 1:53:00Speaker 1: That's the last Rams one. He really did have some
- 1:53:04Speaker 1: verbal bouquets to throw at Robert in Bill's direction. So
- 1:53:07Speaker 1: does that mean like you've exhausted all of your things?
- 1:53:10Speaker 1: I can't. You can still say thank How many times
- 1:53:12Speaker 1: are I to think? Like? Right? Well, he spent I
- 1:53:15Speaker 1: addressed that statement that I made a previous thing. I
- 1:53:18Speaker 1: think we've already talked about that his own. Kevin and
- 1:53:24Speaker 1: Dublin sat to hear Paul's leaving Patriots Unfiltered for the
- 1:53:27Speaker 1: brand new show called NFL Unfiltered, where he won't be
- 1:53:30Speaker 1: bothered by fans of one team who keep talking about
- 1:53:33Speaker 1: their own team. Uh. In all, in all seriousness, I'm
- 1:53:37Speaker 1: looking forward to this super Bowl. It has been a
- 1:53:39Speaker 1: good postseason. Well after the wildcard round at least, do
- 1:53:42Speaker 1: you think the NFL will feel justified in their playoff expansion? Well,
- 1:53:48Speaker 1: the first round wasn't great, right, I mean there were
- 1:53:50Speaker 1: a lot of blowouts. But it's just the second year
- 1:53:52Speaker 1: of the playoff expansion. You know that, right, I know
- 1:53:58Speaker 1: the Patriots didn't make that. Again, I gotta fill you
- 1:54:01Speaker 1: know what my bad. I gotta fil Patriots fans in
- 1:54:03Speaker 1: on something. In twenty twenty, the NFL expanded to seven
- 1:54:07Speaker 1: playoff teams per conference. The Patriots weren't one of them.
- 1:54:10Speaker 1: So you might not know that this is the second
- 1:54:13Speaker 1: year of playoff expansion and Seduce's point the wild card
- 1:54:16Speaker 1: games were crap. Yeah, the last two weeks have been
- 1:54:20Speaker 1: absolutely fantastic. I think they would take that. They would
- 1:54:23Speaker 1: look at it as a wild success. And I also
- 1:54:26Speaker 1: think the fact that both number one seeds lost I
- 1:54:31Speaker 1: think they like that, especially this year. You can make
- 1:54:36Speaker 1: an argument that green Bay was one of the best teams,
- 1:54:38Speaker 1: but I don't think you can really make an argument
- 1:54:40Speaker 1: that Tennessee was. So I think they look at him
- 1:54:42Speaker 1: as Yeah. I think they're happy the way that that
- 1:54:45Speaker 1: unpredictability worked out. Absolutely Yeah. I think uh Goodell was
- 1:54:51Speaker 1: having a great weekend these last two weekends. I forgot
- 1:54:55Speaker 1: about that tweet Joe Burrow when he was that is
- 1:54:58Speaker 1: that the senior bowl of the combined? Yeah? I think
- 1:55:00Speaker 1: it was at the scene considering retirement after seeing the
- 1:55:02Speaker 1: sweets about my small hand. We'll slip out of my
- 1:55:05Speaker 1: tiny hand. Keep me in your thoughts. He's like Hansel
- 1:55:08Speaker 1: and uh now does he he's hot? Brow? I ask
- 1:55:14Speaker 1: you about Joe Burrow, though I do so, I already
- 1:55:16Speaker 1: know your Your answer to this would be like that
- 1:55:18Speaker 1: previous email, Um, do you think he runs the risk of. Okay,
- 1:55:23Speaker 1: I'm a little tired of that act at this point,
- 1:55:25Speaker 1: like right now, Like, what could I not like it
- 1:55:30Speaker 1: work for Joe Namath? Does he run the risk of
- 1:55:33Speaker 1: if he doesn't it getting old? You mean, yeah, like
- 1:55:36Speaker 1: if if if like the act is like d who
- 1:55:38Speaker 1: is it an act? It might not be an act
- 1:55:41Speaker 1: if it's not an act. If it's an act, it
- 1:55:43Speaker 1: will Okay. Why do you have to take everything so literally? Okay?
- 1:55:46Speaker 1: Because you called it an act? Okay, So I didn't
- 1:55:48Speaker 1: mean it like he was he was performing. I mean
- 1:55:51Speaker 1: his personality, this could be great on you. Yes, I
- 1:55:54Speaker 1: think it could. Yes, I think it is who he is. Okay,
- 1:55:56Speaker 1: all right, let's especially if he doesn't win, if he
- 1:55:59Speaker 1: doesn't back it up. The fact that he's backing it
- 1:56:01Speaker 1: up makes it cool. And he's new. There isn't like
- 1:56:04Speaker 1: you know, and he's not the outfits. Yeah, it's new
- 1:56:07Speaker 1: and it's different, so everybody it's like Tony Romo three
- 1:56:10Speaker 1: years ago. Yeah, it was new and different. Now everybody
- 1:56:13Speaker 1: hates them until you win too much. Well, and if
- 1:56:17Speaker 1: you're still kind of that you know, cock of the
- 1:56:19Speaker 1: walk attitude every post. I like the guy I always
- 1:56:23Speaker 1: liked the guy, and I think he is going to
- 1:56:24Speaker 1: be really good. I'm wondering if some people might find
- 1:56:27Speaker 1: it a little bit yeah, tiresome after a while. Not
- 1:56:31Speaker 1: Bengals fans, but not anybody else Bengals. Bengals fans won't
- 1:56:35Speaker 1: won't grow tired of it. They shouldn't. Yeah, unless he
- 1:56:37Speaker 1: doesn't win, right uh Joe and Michigan wants to. He says,
- 1:56:42Speaker 1: I think Josh leaving will be a breath of freshness.
- 1:56:45Speaker 1: Mac will blossom in year two. Wow, that's that's that
- 1:56:49Speaker 1: is a line of thinking, like people, some people don't
- 1:56:52Speaker 1: like Josh. The amount of people after, I might point out,
- 1:56:56Speaker 1: it was, you know, sort of established that Josh was
- 1:56:59Speaker 1: leaving that we're excited about it was was impressive. Yeah,
- 1:57:04Speaker 1: the amount of people that was just like, good, we
- 1:57:06Speaker 1: got a good we got a good offensive. What is
- 1:57:08Speaker 1: the next person I get to hate? I mean at
- 1:57:10Speaker 1: the offensive quarterback, the guy that I should be happy finally? Yeah. Right.
- 1:57:14Speaker 1: It is a funny dynamic that draws on third and twelve.
- 1:57:18Speaker 1: Josh is going from like wouldn't want to be scoring anymore?
- 1:57:20Speaker 1: Those macs like best buddy, like come care to help
- 1:57:23Speaker 1: you get to the NFL, and I'm gonna, you know,
- 1:57:24Speaker 1: through your first year, I'm here for you, and then
- 1:57:26Speaker 1: next year he's gonna be like, so this is how
- 1:57:28Speaker 1: we have to destroy Mac Jones, Like that's this is
- 1:57:30Speaker 1: the way the league goes. But it's just kind of
- 1:57:32Speaker 1: funny to think like he was, you know, everything to
- 1:57:34Speaker 1: Mac probably this year, and now he's he's gonna have
- 1:57:36Speaker 1: to figure out a where to slow him down and
- 1:57:38Speaker 1: stop him. All right, what have we done? Yeah, I'm breathless.
- 1:57:43Speaker 1: We have three minutes. It was quite a show. What's
- 1:57:46Speaker 1: going to happen the next day or two? So do
- 1:57:48Speaker 1: you think there's any chance that you know, like we
- 1:57:50Speaker 1: we talked at the McDaniel's decision to go to the Raiders,
- 1:57:53Speaker 1: you know, and everybody's like the Raiders really that like
- 1:57:57Speaker 1: he waited all this time, just specially crafted decision the Raiders.
- 1:58:02Speaker 1: Do you think it says anything about what he feels
- 1:58:04Speaker 1: about what he's leaving behind that he was willing to
- 1:58:08Speaker 1: go there as opposed to staying here. Yeah, like like
- 1:58:11Speaker 1: you can only go down from there. But see, that's
- 1:58:13Speaker 1: the thing. I think I think he's being a little disingenuous,
- 1:58:16Speaker 1: Josh when he says you know, I was very selective,
- 1:58:19Speaker 1: and I don't think he had a lot of I
- 1:58:22Speaker 1: think he really wanted to be a head coach again,
- 1:58:24Speaker 1: and I don't think he had a lot of offers.
- 1:58:26Speaker 1: I agree a thousand percent what you just said. I
- 1:58:28Speaker 1: think the only reason why he got this offer is
- 1:58:30Speaker 1: because of his IGLO. Any right, And he came out
- 1:58:32Speaker 1: in that ESPN story a couple of years ago saying
- 1:58:35Speaker 1: about how much he'd changed since he left him. Remember
- 1:58:37Speaker 1: that he was not in a position to be turning
- 1:58:39Speaker 1: down jobs right now, in a position to be rediculous.
- 1:58:42Speaker 1: That's right. So we'll lend it on there. He's not
- 1:58:45Speaker 1: a Patriot anymore. I can kick him on now. I
- 1:58:47Speaker 1: like Josh, and I like Josh everything that he has
- 1:58:51Speaker 1: done for the Patriots, and I also like Matt Patricia
- 1:58:53Speaker 1: personally too. All right, that's gonna be um. These guys
- 1:58:57Speaker 1: will be back Thursday. I'm not. I'm gonna be away
- 1:58:59Speaker 1: for a little bit. I'll be back Tuesday, though, So
- 1:59:03Speaker 1: get through Thursday. I'll be back Tuesday. All right. Thanks
