Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: We are out of the gates on sport and state.
- 0:03Speaker 1: Glad you're with us.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Good morning from Nashville, from our hub here. We say
- 0:08Speaker 2: good morning to you. We've got JT and Lutz making
- 0:12Speaker 2: it happen. A well-deserved hour off for Chad Withrow, who
- 0:16Speaker 2: joins me in about an hour. Fall break has taken
- 0:19Speaker 2: over our area. I don't know about you, but the
- 0:23Speaker 2: kids are off, and Chad has, I believe, made his
- 0:26Speaker 2: way to the beach. He had a beautiful photo that
- 0:28Speaker 2: he sent us. Very jealous. And he did that after
- 0:32Speaker 2: the hurricane and tropical storm went through. So all is
- 0:35Speaker 2: well there. What a fantastic show we've got. We're going
- 0:38Speaker 2: to react to the Titans. We have Keith Bullock, who
- 0:41Speaker 2: will join us. KB53, host of Bullseye View. He'll be
- 0:45Speaker 2: with us shortly, roughly 10 minutes from now or so.
- 0:49Speaker 2: Chad joins us at the next hour with full reaction
- 0:53Speaker 2: to plenty across college football. And that's where we start today.
- 0:57Speaker 2: What a weekend. A total shakeup. across college football. Georgia,
- 1:03Speaker 2: they win at Alabama. The power shift, the discipline, that's
- 1:10Speaker 2: where this tends to take me, officiating a huge issue,
- 1:17Speaker 2: some glaring calls. But that's the human element that we
- 1:21Speaker 2: deal with. But the lack of discipline on Bama's part
- 1:25Speaker 2: to end the game Let's start with just that. That's
- 1:28Speaker 2: the huge difference between these two teams right now. They
- 1:31Speaker 2: win in 2017. The headline is massive. Kirby Smart, he
- 1:36Speaker 2: finally gets his first win in Tuscaloosa on Georgia's sideline.
- 1:44Speaker 2: He snapped a 19-year run. It's been a while since
- 1:51Speaker 2: Georgia went on the road in Tuscaloosa and won a game.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Number one rankings. in the country.
- 1:56Speaker 2: Texas falls, Georgia takes that spot, and now they're sitting
- 2:01Speaker 2: with a great spot in the Southeastern Conference. That matchup
- 2:05Speaker 2: will matter coming up later in the season and on
- 2:09Speaker 2: their way to possibly another.
- 2:10Speaker 1: SEC championship berth.
- 2:12Speaker 2: Bama, back-to-back meetings now that Georgia has had the W
- 2:18Speaker 2: on their side, but the game was won and how
- 2:22Speaker 2: it was really lost. is very telling here. DeBoer loses
- 2:27Speaker 2: his mind on the sideline. Yes, they lost the game
- 2:33Speaker 2: right there.
- 2:35Speaker 1: Losing your cool.
- 2:36Speaker 2: And over the last few years, we've seen more of
- 2:39Speaker 2: the flags go against Bama. I was really surprised that
- 2:44Speaker 2: the flags went against Bama. The storyline has always been
- 2:48Speaker 2: Bama pulls the flags. It's really Saban, I guess, that
- 2:51Speaker 2: you can expect that from. Turning point happened right after halftime.
- 2:55Speaker 2: You have 14-10 at right at half. Georgia, the offense
- 3:00Speaker 2: looked stagnant. They had rushed for around 49-50 yards on
- 3:07Speaker 2: 12 carries. And Mike Bobo, Kirby Smart, they simplified their
- 3:14Speaker 2: ground attack. They came out right out of the locker room,
- 3:18Speaker 2: which the speech was leaked. It's out for a reason.
- 3:22Speaker 2: We know that's not the first time we've heard from
- 3:25Speaker 2: Kirby Smart, in that setting. They come out and go
- 3:28Speaker 2: down the field, and we see Stockton in clutch moments,
- 3:34Speaker 2: and he scores that rushing touchdown right out of halftime.
- 3:36Speaker 2: And the clutch throws. The dude is just pinpoint whenever
- 3:41Speaker 2: the moment comes up. He's going to get his due now,
- 3:48Speaker 2: but man, have we sidestep Georgia to this point based
- 3:51Speaker 2: on their schedule and what they've done. We haven't really
- 3:53Speaker 2: given them the attention. Now they sit atop the throne.
- 3:59Speaker 2: The other big games, Texas and Oklahoma.
- 4:05Speaker 3: Wow.
- 4:06Speaker 2: This was a stunner just based on how Oklahoma has played.
- 4:09Speaker 2: How they have played recently against Texas, their offense has
- 4:13Speaker 2: been awful in this game. They've struggled to really move
- 4:17Speaker 2: the football, period. But it was Arch who struggled in
- 4:21Speaker 2: this matchup. And we finally see Mateer make a– I mean,
- 4:26Speaker 2: he had– as Coach Mack would say, he was throwing
- 4:28Speaker 2: piss missiles in this. And we finally see him lock
- 4:32Speaker 2: in and play like the quarterback we thought was going
- 4:34Speaker 2: to start the season this year with the Sooners. Yeah,
- 4:39Speaker 2: so you've got Oklahoma pulling the upset. Texas falls, and
- 4:43Speaker 2: they fall down to sixth right behind Bama in the standings.
- 4:47Speaker 2: They go from one to six. And meanwhile, you've got
- 4:49Speaker 2: some other upsets. A team moves one spot or two.
- 4:54Speaker 2: But it's Georgia at the top. We still see right there, Indiana.
- 4:59Speaker 2: They're circling. They survive in Barasta. That was a great setting.
- 5:02Speaker 2: I want to talk with Chad about that a little
- 5:04Speaker 2: bit later. And we'll get to Tennessee and the Vols
- 5:06Speaker 2: surviving in Arkansas. And how about Kentucky? Jacob Lutz was there.
- 5:15Speaker 1: In the wind.
- 5:16Speaker 2: I don't know about the rain. You said it was
- 5:18Speaker 2: a monsoon pregame. I felt for you there, man. But
- 5:21Speaker 2: you're a Wildcat fan. Congratulations.
- 5:24Speaker 4: It was– hold on real quick here.
- 5:28Speaker 5: Probably in.
- 5:31Speaker 4: My 30 years on this earth of going to Kentucky
- 5:35Speaker 4: football games, probably one of the best absolute experiences of
- 5:40Speaker 4: my life as a Kentucky fan. We– We didn't know
- 5:45Speaker 4: how to react at the very start. We're so used
- 5:50Speaker 4: to seeing these pictures of State Street right now. We're
- 5:53Speaker 4: used to doing this for basketball. The last two games
- 5:55Speaker 4: have been overtime thrillers.
- 5:57Speaker 6: I know.
- 5:58Speaker 4: It's a great day in Lexington. Every day in the fall,
- 6:03Speaker 4: the University of Kentucky bids on what they call the
- 6:05Speaker 4: Kentucky Double. The Kentucky Double is you have horse racing
- 6:09Speaker 4: all day at Caneland. And then you go into the
- 6:13Speaker 4: football game at night. And it's really it's probably the
- 6:17Speaker 4: best day in the Commonwealth. It's probably the most liquored
- 6:20Speaker 4: up day in the Commonwealth. There's probably no bourbon left
- 6:24Speaker 4: in the.
- 6:25Speaker 5: State of Kentucky this morning.
- 6:27Speaker 4: But, you know, the hurricane came in. Everybody was scared
- 6:30Speaker 4: it was going to be in Alabama. Everybody, you know,
- 6:32Speaker 4: was scared about all that. Well, the bullseye ended up
- 6:36Speaker 4: being Lexington, Kentucky in pregame. You know, it was absolute
- 6:40Speaker 4: hurricane-like conditions, monsoon, rainy everywhere, and everyone was, you know,
- 6:45Speaker 4: just kind of on edge. Then we get into the game,
- 6:49Speaker 4: and the heavens opened.
- 6:51Speaker 1: It was cold.
- 6:53Speaker 4: Kentucky was not ready for that cold, but it was
- 6:57Speaker 4: just an absolute fantastic atmosphere, you know. I mean— Did
- 7:01Speaker 4: you storm the field? I got real close to storming
- 7:03Speaker 4: the field. So that was our seat. That was our
- 7:06Speaker 4: seats right there. And then you could see just the
- 7:09Speaker 4: hurricane of people jumping out of the student section down there.
- 7:13Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 7:14Speaker 4: And we ended up going down a level. We got
- 7:17Speaker 4: all the way to the seven-foot wall right there. And
- 7:20Speaker 4: we decided we were too old to break our ankles
- 7:23Speaker 4: because we would die. And, you know, enjoyed seeing my
- 7:26Speaker 4: old Kentucky home from afar just right there. So, you know...
- 7:30Speaker 4: Great day in the Commonwealth. Will Stein's got bigger balls
- 7:34Speaker 4: than any of us right now. Two-point conversion really is incredible.
- 7:39Speaker 2: And the way they set that up, Minchie set this
- 7:44Speaker 2: up where he's motioning. I thought they did a great
- 7:47Speaker 2: breakdown of this. Motioning the receiver, the tight ends, spreads
- 7:51Speaker 2: them out. Gets the defense out wide, and he's acting
- 7:55Speaker 2: like he sees the opening, but he plays this so
- 7:58Speaker 2: perfectly that the linebacker comes over and overplays the wing
- 8:05Speaker 2: and didn't have a shot.
- 8:06Speaker 1: It was a great call, brilliant call.
- 8:09Speaker 2: I got Sarkeesian going for long field goals, the Oklahoma
- 8:14Speaker 2: blocking one. JT, you over the weekend said you wanted
- 8:18Speaker 2: to stop– joining us on the, on the bundle. Um,
- 8:21Speaker 2: you're not the only one who, who fell short here.
- 8:25Speaker 6: Yeah, it was a tough weekend, but, um, I just,
- 8:28Speaker 6: I continue to feel like, man, there's no way, you know,
- 8:32Speaker 6: I took, I took Tennessee, uh, 13 and a half.
- 8:35Speaker 6: And I'm thinking we've got a new quarterback. They're playing,
- 8:38Speaker 6: they're playing an awful, awful Arkansas team. And, you know,
- 8:41Speaker 6: I just really feel like there's no reason why they
- 8:44Speaker 6: can't go on the road and get this done.
- 8:46Speaker 1: They survive. I mean, you wake up Sunday as a
- 8:48Speaker 1: ball's barely going, I'm okay.
- 8:50Speaker 5: Life is good.
- 8:52Speaker 1: We won.
- 8:53Speaker 6: But, you know, I was running a couple of errands
- 8:55Speaker 6: on a Saturday afternoon listening to Mike Keith, and I thought,
- 8:59Speaker 6: I just don't know that I feel really good about this.
- 9:01Speaker 1: But they pulled it out.
- 9:03Speaker 5: Bishop's a stud, and.
- 9:04Speaker 6: I love watching that guy play football. But, you know,
- 9:08Speaker 6: I'm not a Tennessee fan, but I felt good about it.
- 9:11Speaker 6: But then a couple weeks ago I had Vanderbilt, and
- 9:14Speaker 6: the only time I've gotten lucky is when Vandy was
- 9:17Speaker 6: able to score a touchdown at the end of the
- 9:18Speaker 6: game to beat NC State.
- 9:19Speaker 1: I just, I don't, uh, I don't feel like I'm
- 9:22Speaker 1: helping the team in this, in this three leg parlay.
- 9:24Speaker 2: I thought you're getting advice from one of the best.
- 9:26Speaker 2: I thought you were kind of cheating it.
- 9:29Speaker 1: I'll tell you who not to get advice from.
- 9:31Speaker 6: Uh, I went for, can't remember what, maybe the under
- 9:36Speaker 6: and the Georgia game two weekends ago.
- 9:39Speaker 5: I got that from Todd Furman.
- 9:40Speaker 1: That's what you guys want to talk about.
- 9:42Speaker 6: Somebody not, not to get a bet from and not
- 9:44Speaker 6: to listen to Todd Furman is top of the list.
- 9:48Speaker 1: Um, We've got Keith Bullitt coming up.
- 9:51Speaker 2: Chad and I are going to react to Mike Elko
- 9:55Speaker 2: and the Billy's cesspool comment. Just stupid. Totally just dumb.
- 10:04Speaker 2: It's not going to win that battle. And I don't know,
- 10:07Speaker 2: going at the fan base is just not the way
- 10:09Speaker 2: to do this at A & M. That is a
- 10:12Speaker 2: huge portion of their fan base at Tex-Ax. And we'll
- 10:17Speaker 2: discuss what that leads to. Keith Bullock, Waiting in the Wings,
- 10:22Speaker 2: where we will talk to a Titans legend about the
- 10:26Speaker 2: worst football we're watching right now in real time in
- 10:30Speaker 2: the history of the Tennessee Titans years in Nashville.
- 10:34Speaker 1: It's pathetic.
- 10:35Speaker 2: And we'll talk to one of the best to play
- 10:37Speaker 2: for the franchise about where they're headed or, you know,
- 10:42Speaker 2: they're continuing to dig their tunnel underground for.
- 10:45Speaker 1: A new floor. It's next right here.
- 10:48Speaker 2: On Hutton & Withrow, Sport & State. It is Hutton &
- 10:50Speaker 2: Withrow presented by Hard Rock Bet here at Sport & State.
- 10:54Speaker 2: And speaking of Hard Rock, maybe you cashed in over
- 10:57Speaker 2: the weekend. You've got plenty to look forward to there.
- 11:01Speaker 2: Perfect 10. Perfect 10 Mortgage. The name says it. You
- 11:04Speaker 2: apply in 10 minutes. You close in 10 days. That's
- 11:07Speaker 2: the whole idea here. A mortgage that's simple, fast, fair.
- 11:09Speaker 2: 10 minutes, start to finish, right from your phone. No
- 11:12Speaker 2: stack of paperwork. No sitting across a desk from a
- 11:15Speaker 2: banker who's talking down to you. You Check your options.
- 11:18Speaker 2: It's not going to ding your credit score, and you
- 11:20Speaker 2: can actually stand before you commit to anything. If you
- 11:24Speaker 2: want to talk to a human, you can do that too, actually. Call,
- 11:27Speaker 2: and you get a real loan officer, not a phone trade.
- 11:30Speaker 2: If you're buying new construction, ask about the builder program,
- 11:34Speaker 2: builder-funded rates, buy-downs that can get you a rate that
- 11:38Speaker 2: the bank can't print.
- 11:39Speaker 1: Perfect10Mortgage. com. That's Perfect10Mortgage. com. Call 855-789-1010. 855-789-1010.
- 11:45Speaker 2: It's easy to remember. 895-789-1010. That's perfect10mortgage. com. One of my
- 11:56Speaker 2: favorites to cover, and when I was just starting out
- 12:00Speaker 2: covering the Titans, was number 53, Keith Bullitt. And since then,
- 12:06Speaker 2: he's become just a friend, a solid dude. Always consistent.
- 12:12Speaker 2: And he's a true pro. KB, the host of Bullseye View,
- 12:18Speaker 2: joins us here on Hunt and Withdraw.
- 12:20Speaker 1: Good to see you, man.
- 12:21Speaker 7: Thanks for having me. I feel like I just saw
- 12:24Speaker 7: you last night.
- 12:25Speaker 1: Yeah, that's right.
- 12:26Speaker 2: On News Channel 5. Man, your breakdown is fantastic last night.
- 12:31Speaker 1: I've got that.
- 12:32Speaker 2: I'm going to post that and send it to you.
- 12:35Speaker 2: Bullseye View, available right now. We highly recommend the YouTube channel.
- 12:40Speaker 2: Bullseye View can be found where he's... He gets after it.
- 12:44Speaker 2: I love the guest you've had and just the commentary, dude.
- 12:49Speaker 1: How long have you been doing this now?
- 12:51Speaker 5: I started last year.
- 12:52Speaker 7: I started doing it last year. And at first it was,
- 12:57Speaker 7: you know, people always like, oh, you should do a podcast.
- 13:00Speaker 7: You should do a podcast. Like everybody has a podcast. But,
- 13:04Speaker 7: you know, with the. you know, the way that the
- 13:08Speaker 7: Titans were moving the last couple of years, I just
- 13:11Speaker 7: feel like they needed a fresh voice.
- 13:13Speaker 5: And then also, you know, as the franchise.
- 13:17Speaker 7: And the brand grows and expands, you know, I'm part
- 13:21Speaker 7: of the flame.
- 13:22Speaker 5: Era, you know what I mean?
- 13:24Speaker 7: So I definitely got to preserve and, you know, speak
- 13:28Speaker 7: to that as much as possible. And then also get
- 13:31Speaker 7: those other guys' voices in the conversation as well. So,
- 13:34Speaker 7: And then now it's turning into, I'm going to start,
- 13:37Speaker 7: you know, interviewing more former players just around the league.
- 13:41Speaker 5: I think I'm on a little linebacker kick right now.
- 13:44Speaker 5: So we'll see who else we got lined up.
- 13:46Speaker 1: Did you ever meet Ditka?
- 13:48Speaker 7: Never got a chance to meet Mike Ditka. You know,
- 13:51Speaker 7: rest in peace.
- 13:53Speaker 5: Great coach.
- 13:53Speaker 7: You know, obviously I know him better as a coach.
- 13:56Speaker 7: You know, I never seen Mike Ditka play.
- 13:58Speaker 5: Obviously he was.
- 13:59Speaker 7: an ultimate tough guy, and that's great representing for the
- 14:03Speaker 7: Bears organization. But definitely an interesting character, definitely an interesting person. And,
- 14:10Speaker 7: you know, I know he was loved by many and
- 14:12Speaker 7: is going to be missed by a lot.
- 14:13Speaker 1: Yeah, man.
- 14:15Speaker 2: The Tennessee Titans right now, is this the worst team
- 14:19Speaker 2: you've seen play? I'm hearing that a lot now with
- 14:21Speaker 2: all the podcasts that are reacting to yesterday's game where
- 14:25Speaker 2: the Houston Texans come in at 0-4 and they've handled
- 14:28Speaker 2: them easily, easily. I'm watching this team play, Keith, and
- 14:31Speaker 2: I'm thinking, man, this was not supposed to be like this.
- 14:37Speaker 2: With the experience of coach, you've got the guy coming
- 14:40Speaker 2: in that wanted to be a head coach, but he
- 14:42Speaker 2: chooses to be the offensive coordinator, Brian Dable, to coach
- 14:45Speaker 2: Cam Ward. I just don't see the improvement. And it's
- 14:49Speaker 2: not just like decent play that's not good or great.
- 14:53Speaker 2: It's really, really bad. How bad is it from your view?
- 14:57Speaker 7: Um, you know, for me, it's bad football. You know,
- 15:01Speaker 7: you got to be honest, you know, when you see it.
- 15:04Speaker 7: You know, it's no consistency. And, you know, I feel
- 15:09Speaker 7: like consistency will lead to wins.
- 15:13Speaker 5: Consistency will lead to victories, right?
- 15:15Speaker 7: If you go out and consistently, you know, block.
- 15:18Speaker 5: If you consistently tackle. If you consistently do the basics.
- 15:22Speaker 5: Get off the field on third down. If you consistently
- 15:25Speaker 5: keep driving going.
- 15:27Speaker 7: Like, even yesterday's game, I was at the— Titans Texans game.
- 15:31Speaker 7: And I sat there and I watched, you know, so
- 15:33Speaker 7: I can, you know, I want to give real opinions.
- 15:35Speaker 5: I don't want to be high on, you know what
- 15:37Speaker 5: I mean?
- 15:38Speaker 7: And it's like the Titans can go punch for punch
- 15:44Speaker 7: until they can't. Right. So the Texans, you hold them
- 15:46Speaker 7: to four field goals. That's great. That's great defense right there. Right.
- 15:50Speaker 5: Regardless of what's going on, the defense is playing good.
- 15:53Speaker 7: If you're holding them to four field goals, because once again,
- 15:56Speaker 7: Texans are on four, but yeah.
- 15:58Speaker 2: Yeah. Man, I'm listening post-game, and I'm hearing Robert Sala say,
- 16:06Speaker 2: I mean, I want to get to all three of
- 16:10Speaker 2: these real quick.
- 16:11Speaker 1: I want to get your reaction as.
- 16:13Speaker 2: A former player and what you would be saying internally
- 16:15Speaker 2: inside the locker room. First, here is Sala right after
- 16:19Speaker 2: the game asking about Cam Ward and whether or not
- 16:21Speaker 2: he's going to continue to be the starter.
- 16:22Speaker 7: After this performance, you guys are going to be dead
- 16:26Speaker 7: last in points per game, dead last in yards per game.
- 16:29Speaker 6: Is there a thought to making a change, whether it's
- 16:31Speaker 6: benching Cam Ward, changing something to develop.
- 16:34Speaker 1: Some kind of spark?
- 16:35Speaker 6: No.
- 16:36Speaker 5: Not with Cam.
- 16:37Speaker 1: Why not?
- 16:39Speaker 3: Cam's our starting quarterback. We're going to give him every
- 16:41Speaker 3: opportunity to be successful this year. And we're going to
- 16:46Speaker 3: continue working with him, grinding with him, and trying to
- 16:48Speaker 3: help him get better.
- 16:50Speaker 2: KB, I remember distinctly you were on that 0-6 team
- 16:54Speaker 2: that started out, right? And I remember you with Kerry
- 16:59Speaker 2: Collins and VY.
- 17:02Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 17:02Speaker 2: There's a press, the weekly presser for the quarterback is happening.
- 17:06Speaker 2: I think every Wednesday at his locker and Vince is
- 17:08Speaker 2: right there beside him. And you're just, you're chirp over there.
- 17:11Speaker 2: Cause you're like, I don't know, maybe 30 feet away.
- 17:13Speaker 1: I don't know how long it was.
- 17:15Speaker 2: And you'd kind of trip over there. Uh, the starters
- 17:18Speaker 2: to the left starter to the left, something like that,
- 17:20Speaker 2: like pointing to VY. Um, Wouldn't you want to change
- 17:24Speaker 2: things up just to try to spark something? I don't
- 17:27Speaker 2: think Trubisky's a great quarterback, but I think he could
- 17:31Speaker 2: be good.
- 17:33Speaker 5: Yeah, that's fair, honey. You know, it's one of those things.
- 17:37Speaker 7: Robert Sala is going to have to make a tough
- 17:39Speaker 7: decision either way, right? He's going to have to make
- 17:41Speaker 7: a tough decision if he keeps Cam Ward in, and
- 17:44Speaker 7: he's going to have to make a tough decision if
- 17:46Speaker 7: he pulls him out. And to be fair, you know,
- 17:50Speaker 7: You know, I ask questions after games just to see
- 17:52Speaker 7: what the temperature is on Twitter. Because I feel like
- 17:55Speaker 7: fans have an opinion and, you know, I'll help them
- 17:58Speaker 7: voice their opinion. There's a lot of people that are saying,
- 18:01Speaker 7: put in Mitchell Trubisky. Whereas last week, I thought it
- 18:05Speaker 7: was a little too early. And it still may be
- 18:07Speaker 7: a little bit too early. But that's the tough decision
- 18:10Speaker 7: Robert Sala is going to have to make. If you
- 18:12Speaker 7: stay with Cam, that's fine. You're going to have to
- 18:15Speaker 7: hear a lot of outside noise from And if you
- 18:19Speaker 7: go to Mitchell Trubisky, that's fine, too. I don't feel
- 18:23Speaker 7: that like you just said, Mitchell Trubisky is the key
- 18:26Speaker 7: to success here in Tennessee. I don't see him as
- 18:29Speaker 7: like a Ryan Tannehill situation. But also what stuck out
- 18:34Speaker 7: to me in the Vince Young documentary is when, you know,
- 18:39Speaker 7: Vince was saying Jeff pulled him.
- 18:41Speaker 5: And I just remember Vince saying like, damn, coach, you
- 18:44Speaker 5: don't believe in me.
- 18:45Speaker 7: So with the first year head coach and first year
- 18:48Speaker 7: offensive coordinator, only five games in with Cam Ward.
- 18:52Speaker 5: If you sit on now, do you lose that trust?
- 18:55Speaker 5: And I understand. Let him sit. Let him watch. But
- 18:58Speaker 5: then for Cam, if that happens, that's part of the process, too.
- 19:03Speaker 7: Like, look at Bryce Young in Carolina. There have been
- 19:06Speaker 7: many quarterbacks that have had to sit down and watch
- 19:09Speaker 7: to kind of, you know, take it all in to
- 19:11Speaker 7: see what's going on. And then get back out there.
- 19:14Speaker 7: But look, that's the decision Robert Sala has to make.
- 19:18Speaker 7: And either way, Cam has to accept the decision and perform.
- 19:24Speaker 5: Either way, he has to perform.
- 19:26Speaker 1: Yeah, man.
- 19:26Speaker 2: I think they're just going to play him all season.
- 19:28Speaker 2: And I think the two coaches have been told to
- 19:31Speaker 2: do that. I don't know if they want to make
- 19:32Speaker 2: a change that they would be able to.
- 19:34Speaker 1: Honestly, I don't know.
- 19:35Speaker 2: I think they just want to play Cam Ward through
- 19:37Speaker 2: the season and try to evaluate him. But, I mean,
- 19:40Speaker 2: if you don't make a change now, it doesn't matter
- 19:42Speaker 2: a few weeks from now. You know, like if you're
- 19:44Speaker 2: one in eight and you make a change, that doesn't
- 19:46Speaker 2: do anything.
- 19:48Speaker 7: Go ahead.
- 19:48Speaker 5: I'm sorry.
- 19:48Speaker 1: No, go ahead.
- 19:50Speaker 7: Now, I was going to say, right, if you're 0-8
- 19:51Speaker 7: or 0-8, it's not going to do anything.
- 19:54Speaker 5: So another tough decision. What are we playing for, right?
- 19:58Speaker 7: Are we trading Jeffery Simmons at the deadline to get
- 20:02Speaker 7: more people? Because at the end of the day, if
- 20:05Speaker 7: I'm Big Jeff, man, enough is enough is enough.
- 20:08Speaker 5: You know what I'm saying?
- 20:10Speaker 7: You know, I have to be thinking about my career
- 20:13Speaker 7: at this point. I'm in year eight, and then I
- 20:15Speaker 7: got at least– Three to four really good ones left.
- 20:18Speaker 7: You know, I understand I.
- 20:20Speaker 5: Just got the bag. I got $ 100.
- 20:21Speaker 7: Million, but he's got a lot of money already. You know,
- 20:24Speaker 7: at some point, you want to win football games. So
- 20:26Speaker 7: it's a lot of things to think about.
- 20:29Speaker 1: So I'm going to try to predict this. I know
- 20:33Speaker 1: players get paid. They're pros.
- 20:35Speaker 2: They show up, and they're supposed to play well. Speaking of, like,
- 20:39Speaker 2: Simmons and tired of the BS and tired of losing,
- 20:44Speaker 2: I'm thinking KB is going to call BS a few
- 20:47Speaker 2: years ago if a coach came in in week five,
- 20:50Speaker 2: right after week five, and told the locker room this.
- 20:52Speaker 1: Here's Salah.
- 20:55Speaker 3: You know, like I told the locker room after the
- 20:57Speaker 3: game just now, it's these next... 12 games or whatever
- 21:01Speaker 3: we have is going to define the people that we're
- 21:03Speaker 3: going to ride with moving on to the next year.
- 21:06Speaker 3: Not that we're cashing out, but just to be clear.
- 21:09Speaker 3: But these next 12 games are going to identify who's
- 21:11Speaker 3: going to be here when we get this thing turned around.
- 21:15Speaker 2: Dude, we're going into week six here. In 2020, Keith,
- 21:22Speaker 2: going into week six, Ryan Tannehill and that offense puts
- 21:25Speaker 2: over 600 yards of total offense in a game. That
- 21:28Speaker 2: was not that long ago. but it feels like ancient history.
- 21:31Speaker 2: And now solid just seems zapped to me. Like right there.
- 21:36Speaker 2: I realized you just got their ass kicked, but he's
- 21:40Speaker 2: killing the locker room. Like, Hey, we're going to evaluate half.
- 21:42Speaker 2: This roster will be turned over anyway. If I'm a player,
- 21:44Speaker 2: I'm thinking like, I'm out of here. I don't want
- 21:46Speaker 2: to be a part of this.
- 21:47Speaker 7: Yeah, I don't know what the locker room is like there,
- 21:52Speaker 7: the vibe of the locker room, you know what I'm saying?
- 21:55Speaker 7: But I know that they're four losses away from their
- 21:58Speaker 7: fifth losing season.
- 22:00Speaker 5: In a row. You know what I mean?
- 22:02Speaker 7: So for me, I just put myself in Jeffrey Simmons'
- 22:06Speaker 7: shoes because I've been there. Being one of the best
- 22:09Speaker 7: players on the team in a losing situation, the only
- 22:12Speaker 7: difference is.
- 22:13Speaker 5: We had dogs on our team.
- 22:15Speaker 1: No doubt.
- 22:15Speaker 5: We had some guys that, you know, who can look to,
- 22:18Speaker 5: like Vandenbosch. I can look to.
- 22:20Speaker 1: They want to fight.
- 22:21Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 22:21Speaker 5: Yeah, I can look to.
- 22:22Speaker 7: You know, they went and got Chris Hope and David Thornton,
- 22:25Speaker 7: and then there was a young Steven Tulloch that wanted
- 22:28Speaker 7: to be a dog.
- 22:28Speaker 5: You know what I mean? Yeah. We had, like, Tony Brown,
- 22:31Speaker 5: who was a journeyman. You know what I'm saying? Yeah.
- 22:33Speaker 5: So we had pieces, like.
- 22:36Speaker 7: I feel like the Titans keep losing in free agency
- 22:39Speaker 7: because the free agents they get, they don't come in
- 22:42Speaker 7: and produce like top flight free agents. They don't, they're
- 22:45Speaker 7: not game changers and they haven't been locker room changers either.
- 22:49Speaker 5: And I say that.
- 22:51Speaker 7: Not in a disrespectful way, but when I was on
- 22:54Speaker 7: bad teams, of course I was the heartbeat.
- 22:58Speaker 5: But at the same time, we needed other things.
- 23:01Speaker 7: We needed other components to the team to make the
- 23:05Speaker 7: old line good, to make the secondary good, to have
- 23:08Speaker 7: a different approach to talk to younger guys.
- 23:10Speaker 5: So all of those things matter.
- 23:12Speaker 1: I mean, they're getting worse. Your team's had a standard,
- 23:17Speaker 1: an identity. You pointed this out last night.
- 23:19Speaker 2: You also called out the free agents before they signed
- 23:21Speaker 2: with us at the Super Bowl.
- 23:23Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 23:24Speaker 1: And it kind of played out this way.
- 23:26Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 23:29Speaker 2: Solid goes from all gas, no brake. And I realized
- 23:31Speaker 2: like I harp on this because, but that, that's all
- 23:33Speaker 2: they were, that's all they were saying.
- 23:35Speaker 1: That was their one slogan. They don't have a bunch
- 23:38Speaker 1: of them. There's one. And now he's literally talking about sunshine. Uh,
- 23:42Speaker 1: here he is.
- 23:44Speaker 3: Uh, cause like I said, the, these, these young kids
- 23:47Speaker 3: are going to continue to get better and we're going
- 23:49Speaker 3: to flip this thing. And eventually this organization is going
- 23:52Speaker 3: to have its day in the sun. And unfortunately I
- 23:54Speaker 3: know it's not good right now, but, um, I've seen
- 23:58Speaker 3: a lot in my 20-plus years, and I've got a
- 24:01Speaker 3: lot of faith in this group and their ability to.
- 24:04Speaker 1: I mean, even he knows the death march is on.
- 24:08Speaker 1: We have three months of this left, man.
- 24:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 24:10Speaker 5: I mean, look, hope floats in dull situations. And this
- 24:14Speaker 5: is a dull situation.
- 24:15Speaker 7: And I really hope that Robert Sala is able to really,
- 24:19Speaker 7: you know, keep these guys locked in week to week.
- 24:22Speaker 7: You know, we keep they keep going out there after
- 24:26Speaker 7: the Jets game. You know, the Eagles in the Giants
- 24:29Speaker 7: game were two winnable games. Actually, all of these games
- 24:32Speaker 7: were winnable. We start from zero, you know. on paper,
- 24:36Speaker 7: they're all winnable. We see what the Titans can do.
- 24:39Speaker 7: It's just unfortunate. They can't get out of their way.
- 24:42Speaker 7: They can't make plays. I don't even know, but I'm
- 24:46Speaker 7: sure the defense has less than five takeaways in five games.
- 24:49Speaker 5: That helps also. They can't establish the running game.
- 24:53Speaker 7: So there are a lot of football things and we're
- 24:56Speaker 7: just keeping it on the field that are really prohibiting
- 25:00Speaker 7: the Titans from having success and consistency and and culture
- 25:05Speaker 7: are two of the biggest things.
- 25:06Speaker 5: You know, consistency breeds wins.
- 25:09Speaker 7: And then culture, you know, if the team has the culture,
- 25:13Speaker 7: it develops your identity. If you have an identity, even
- 25:18Speaker 7: when you're losing, like the Texans, they know their identity.
- 25:21Speaker 7: They know who they are. So, okay, we're playing the Titans.
- 25:24Speaker 7: It might be a close game. But at some point.
- 25:27Speaker 5: We're going to have them on the ropes and knock
- 25:28Speaker 5: them out. And that's what happens.
- 25:30Speaker 3: Yep.
- 25:30Speaker 1: How about this?
- 25:31Speaker 2: So they've trailed by two scores in four of the
- 25:33Speaker 2: five games. They drafted a wide receiver number four overall.
- 25:38Speaker 2: Quality free agent wide receiver in Wondell Robinson. He was
- 25:41Speaker 2: a 1,000-yard receiver for a rookie quarterback last year. Ward's
- 25:45Speaker 2: thrown for fewer than 200 yards in 80% of the
- 25:48Speaker 2: game so far. I mean, he hasn't thrown for 300 yet.
- 25:51Speaker 2: He had 34 300-yard games in college. And a lot
- 25:57Speaker 2: of them came in, in FBS. Once he got to
- 25:59Speaker 2: Washington state, he had eight games of 400 plus. I mean,
- 26:03Speaker 2: it's not like he can't throw and show out and,
- 26:06Speaker 2: you know, ball.
- 26:08Speaker 5: He's not pulling the trigger for some reason. He's not
- 26:11Speaker 5: pulling the trigger.
- 26:12Speaker 7: It's like college is one thing.
- 26:16Speaker 5: Right. And then you get to the pros.
- 26:19Speaker 7: You got to continue to prove yourself. You know, we
- 26:21Speaker 7: want to, obviously see some plays being made out there,
- 26:25Speaker 7: something that looks like, okay, we're moving forward, especially this
- 26:29Speaker 7: far into year two. And I don't know necessarily what
- 26:32Speaker 7: the disconnect is in the offensive room. And look, Coach,
- 26:38Speaker 7: Salah said that they're playing football one-on-one.
- 26:40Speaker 5: So this is what football one-on-one looks like.
- 26:43Speaker 7: If you've been to college, football, I mean, one-on-one classes
- 26:48Speaker 7: are just a review of your senior year in college.
- 26:51Speaker 2: Remedial.
- 26:52Speaker 7: Yeah, it's like the basic stuff. So we're getting basic
- 26:56Speaker 7: football rolled out. And not just offensively. When Coach Salah
- 27:00Speaker 7: talks about his defense, he talks about, you know.
- 27:03Speaker 5: Them learning and putting it together. They're just not quite
- 27:06Speaker 5: there yet.
- 27:07Speaker 7: So, you know, he's very honest when he says that
- 27:10Speaker 7: it's football one-on-one right now. And you heard him. Once
- 27:14Speaker 7: these young guys start to learn, then everything will be
- 27:16Speaker 7: all right. But there's no proof in the pudding.
- 27:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 27:20Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I see rookies come in and perform,
- 27:23Speaker 1: various rookies across the league. It's October, though. It's time
- 27:28Speaker 1: to see stacks. Tell the story.
- 27:31Speaker 2: When you went to camp and you saw Vince, you knew, okay,
- 27:35Speaker 2: this guy can play, right? You identified that. Do you
- 27:40Speaker 2: know that early on, man, we suck, or okay, we
- 27:44Speaker 2: can contend?
- 27:47Speaker 7: Yeah, you could tell them. You always feel like you
- 27:49Speaker 7: can contend. And those guys are really being honest when,
- 27:52Speaker 7: you know, they speak in front of the media during
- 27:55Speaker 7: the week and they say they feel they can go
- 27:57Speaker 7: out there and win because they definitely do.
- 27:59Speaker 5: Like, that's just the thing. They definitely do.
- 28:01Speaker 7: But what are you doing as a player to ensure
- 28:06Speaker 7: that your job.
- 28:07Speaker 5: Is being done 100%, right?
- 28:09Speaker 7: On defense, are we all watching film together as a
- 28:12Speaker 7: unit to make sure we're talking through our assignments? On offense,
- 28:16Speaker 7: are we doing those things? Are we doing the little
- 28:19Speaker 7: things that make teams great? And the thing with the
- 28:21Speaker 7: Titans is they haven't been great. I mean, they haven't
- 28:25Speaker 7: been good since, like you said, 2020. And who's there
- 28:29Speaker 7: to really show them how to be great or how
- 28:32Speaker 7: to be good? You know, I understand you have... Imani
- 28:35Speaker 7: Hooker there and Big Jeff are the only people there
- 28:38Speaker 7: from when they were winning. And Robert Sala, Brian Dayball,
- 28:42Speaker 7: they've only been a part of coaching staffs that have won.
- 28:45Speaker 7: They've never been the head guy and produced winning football.
- 28:50Speaker 2: Keith, their second best player on the roster is an
- 28:52Speaker 2: offensive guard. That's not good. You know, like I this
- 28:57Speaker 2: is just so it's so like seller.
- 29:02Speaker 1: If I'm a fan, I don't know. what I'm thinking
- 29:05Speaker 1: of why I'm a fan. Final thing on this.
- 29:12Speaker 2: Does Cam Ward and Robert Sala realize they're going to
- 29:14Speaker 2: be the faces of this terrible run?
- 29:17Speaker 1: They talk all the time. They're the only ones who
- 29:19Speaker 1: consistently speak to the media.
- 29:21Speaker 2: We know the front office is not going to speak.
- 29:24Speaker 2: Borgonzi doesn't have to based on the media policy. The
- 29:28Speaker 2: coordinators speak, but the face of the franchise are those
- 29:31Speaker 2: two dudes. This death march is going to be verbalized
- 29:36Speaker 2: through them. And it's going to be repetitive to the
- 29:38Speaker 2: point where people are going to cash out if they
- 29:41Speaker 2: continue the 0-17 run.
- 29:44Speaker 5: Yeah, no, 1,000%.
- 29:45Speaker 7: And I'm a firm believer you have to go into
- 29:48Speaker 7: the dark before you see the light.
- 29:49Speaker 5: And that's where the Titans are right now. They're in
- 29:52Speaker 5: the dismal. They're in the most darkest spot.
- 29:54Speaker 7: And, you know, you're going to see what Robert Sala
- 29:57Speaker 7: is made of.
- 29:58Speaker 5: You're going to see what Cam Ward is made of.
- 30:00Speaker 7: At the end of the day, yeah, you know, media
- 30:03Speaker 7: can complain, fans can complain, but you got to make
- 30:07Speaker 7: a decision. If you're a fan of the Titans, then
- 30:10Speaker 7: be a fan of the Titans and.
- 30:12Speaker 5: Sit in the shit that's going on right now. And
- 30:15Speaker 5: if you're out on Cam Ward, then you're out on
- 30:17Speaker 5: Cam Ward and you're a.
- 30:18Speaker 7: Fan of the Titans, but just make a decision, draw
- 30:22Speaker 7: your line in the sand and go with it this
- 30:24Speaker 7: year because that's obviously what Robert Sala is preaching and
- 30:28Speaker 7: telling that, look, We're developing this team.
- 30:32Speaker 5: And in the next three.
- 30:33Speaker 7: Months, we're about to see who's on board for the future.
- 30:36Speaker 5: That's what it sounds like to me.
- 30:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I just thought half the roster won't be here.
- 30:40Speaker 2: You know, like it doesn't really matter. They're going to
- 30:42Speaker 2: turn this thing over. I think that's just I the
- 30:46Speaker 2: rest of the roster is being used for one guy.
- 30:48Speaker 2: They're just going to run it out with Cam and
- 30:50Speaker 2: everybody else is going to play it out. It's bizarre
- 30:54Speaker 2: because Amy Adams Strunk has fired so many. based on
- 30:57Speaker 2: results and losing. She's always talking about, we're going to
- 30:59Speaker 2: get this right. I want to win as much as
- 31:01Speaker 2: the fans. She speaks to the fans in her statement,
- 31:03Speaker 2: or she used to.
- 31:04Speaker 1: And now, it's just like, okay. Well, throw it in,
- 31:09Speaker 1: you know?
- 31:09Speaker 7: In my opinion, man, when it comes to Miss Amy, like,
- 31:14Speaker 7: she doesn't have the right, she doesn't have football people
- 31:17Speaker 7: around her, you know? I feel like, you know, football
- 31:21Speaker 7: people start with Mike Berganzi and Adolph, you know what
- 31:24Speaker 7: I mean? Obviously on that side, but other than that,
- 31:27Speaker 7: you know, like, call a spade a spade, with all
- 31:30Speaker 7: due respect, I don't know how familiar Burt Nighthill was
- 31:34Speaker 7: with football operations before he got the job in that
- 31:37Speaker 7: Burt's doing a great job in the community with the
- 31:40Speaker 7: stadium and all of those things. But, you know, this
- 31:43Speaker 7: is a football organization and the football part is struggling.
- 31:47Speaker 7: The stadium is going to be great, but someone has
- 31:50Speaker 7: to take responsibility for the football part.
- 31:53Speaker 5: And actually the players play on the field. The coaches coach, but.
- 31:57Speaker 7: The organization has been on its way down the last
- 32:00Speaker 7: five years.
- 32:01Speaker 5: And that's not me. That's the outside.
- 32:03Speaker 7: That's what you're hearing from fans, people that have been
- 32:07Speaker 7: vested and really committed to the Titans for over 25,
- 32:11Speaker 7: 26 years.
- 32:12Speaker 1: What they're doing results wise is what was expected nationally. Yeah.
- 32:16Speaker 1: You know, that's what's. That's what's pathetic about it. It's
- 32:20Speaker 1: like this was expected. No one's shocked.
- 32:21Speaker 2: They're meeting expectations. I mean, they were just trying to
- 32:25Speaker 2: double their win total. And they may not even reach
- 32:28Speaker 2: their win total. KB's with us. Hey, coming back, I
- 32:31Speaker 2: want to do red glove ready when we come back.
- 32:35Speaker 2: I'm going to go through some teams. And Keith's going
- 32:37Speaker 2: to tell me whether or not he thinks they're legit
- 32:41Speaker 2: or they're just, you know.
- 32:43Speaker 5: Blowing smoke.
- 32:43Speaker 1: Yeah, pretenders. Pretenders.
- 32:46Speaker 2: We'll do that straight ahead here on Hutton & Withrow, sportandstate.com.
- 32:49Speaker 2: Keith Bullock with us, Hutton & Withrow. Chad will join
- 32:52Speaker 2: us in like 30 minutes or so. Maybe a little
- 32:55Speaker 2: bit shorter time frame than that. Keith, I don't know
- 32:57Speaker 2: if you knew this. Clay Travis has a law firm.
- 32:59Speaker 2: Proud partner of Sport & State. That makes sense, right?
- 33:01Speaker 2: Accidents don't wait for great timing. One bad moment, a wreck,
- 33:04Speaker 2: a fall, a doctor who wasn't paying attention. Suddenly you're
- 33:07Speaker 2: fighting an insurance company that does this every single day.
- 33:09Speaker 2: And that's why Clay started Clay Travis Law. He's a
- 33:11Speaker 2: Vanderbilt Law grad. built a firm around the idea that
- 33:14Speaker 2: people deserve someone willing to pay attention, ask tough questions,
- 33:17Speaker 2: push back when things don't add up. Experienced trial attorneys
- 33:22Speaker 2: who bring the fight to corporations and insurers based in Nashville,
- 33:25Speaker 2: trusted across the country, a car and truck wrecks, rideshare accidents,
- 33:28Speaker 2: medical malpractice, premises liability, you've got product liability. If you
- 33:33Speaker 2: were wrong, they want to hear about it. And here's
- 33:35Speaker 2: what they promise, honesty. They don't sugarcoat your case. Go
- 33:39Speaker 2: to claytravislaw.com, claytravislaw.com, 877-222-4444. Another easy to remember number.
- 33:49Speaker 1: 877-222-4444.
- 33:50Speaker 2: That's claytravislaw.com. Keith, in 30 seconds or less, tell me
- 33:57Speaker 2: about the red gloves. I knew it looked great, but
- 34:02Speaker 2: there was a mentality to it.
- 34:04Speaker 7: Yeah, now for 30 seconds, you know, Javon Curse had
- 34:08Speaker 7: given me some red gloves my first year starting and
- 34:11Speaker 7: they were Reebok and I didn't want to wear them
- 34:12Speaker 7: on Monday night to change things up. So the next
- 34:15Speaker 7: year I had Joey Barenko, our equipment manager. order some
- 34:18Speaker 7: red gloves. And it was just like the red accent
- 34:21Speaker 7: in the Titans helmet. And it wasn't much, but I
- 34:24Speaker 7: felt like, you know, the red was.
- 34:26Speaker 5: You know, a little swaggy. Yeah.
- 34:29Speaker 7: You know what I mean? And then it just became
- 34:31Speaker 7: my trademark. And then, you know, other guys, Pac-Man, Vince,
- 34:36Speaker 7: I mean, Pac-Man, CJ, both skates.
- 34:39Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 34:40Speaker 7: They all wanted to get some red gloves, but you had,
- 34:42Speaker 7: I was like, yo, you had to make plays. So
- 34:44Speaker 7: it really signified Playmaker's, In the early 2000s and early 2010s.
- 34:50Speaker 7: And then, you know, Joey got pumped and he just
- 34:54Speaker 7: let anybody wear them.
- 34:56Speaker 2: It led to Mr. Monday Night balling out down there
- 34:59Speaker 2: at the Superdome. Hey, Red Glove Ready, I want to
- 35:02Speaker 2: get your take on some NFL teams. We'll go rapid fire.
- 35:05Speaker 2: You just tell me if they're legit or they're pretending here.
- 35:09Speaker 2: Let's start it off with the 49ers. Red Glove reasons,
- 35:14Speaker 2: they're 3-0 in the division overall. They racked up five
- 35:17Speaker 2: sacks and four turnovers at Seattle. Red zone weapons across
- 35:21Speaker 2: this roster. They're consistent. Are they legit? Yeah, Brock's sturdy purdy.
- 35:28Speaker 2: That's my guy. And then Shanahan, man, you know, he
- 35:32Speaker 2: does it.
- 35:33Speaker 7: Year in and year out with whatever talent he has,
- 35:36Speaker 7: you know.
- 35:36Speaker 5: So they are definitely red glove ready. I put them
- 35:40Speaker 5: at the top.
- 35:41Speaker 7: And the way that they handled Seattle defensively says a
- 35:44Speaker 7: lot to them.
- 35:45Speaker 2: Dude, I went through their roster at the end of
- 35:47Speaker 2: the season last year with Sala. I recognize like two names.
- 35:51Speaker 2: That's how many injuries they had. I did not recognize
- 35:54Speaker 2: very many. Number two, Kansas City.
- 35:57Speaker 1: Older roster. They have a championship DNA.
- 36:00Speaker 2: But does the age really play a factor here?
- 36:03Speaker 7: I think, you know, Kansas City is definitely red glove ready.
- 36:07Speaker 7: The age plays a factor in the sense of experience.
- 36:10Speaker 7: You know, they have a running game now. Patrick Manhole
- 36:13Speaker 7: has shown that he can do everything, but he hasn't
- 36:17Speaker 7: had to do all the same things.
- 36:19Speaker 5: I like how Andy Reid, another.
- 36:21Speaker 7: Genius on the offensive side of the ball, they're always
- 36:24Speaker 7: able to rinse and repeat.
- 36:27Speaker 5: It seems like, when it comes to their offense. And
- 36:29Speaker 5: then defensively, all they got.
- 36:31Speaker 7: To do is hold teams under 20 points, and they
- 36:34Speaker 7: should be able to win.
- 36:34Speaker 2: Yeah, they're averaging, I think, 29. Sam Ferran's at 30
- 36:37Speaker 2: or something like that. Number three, Minnesota, league best scoring defense.
- 36:42Speaker 2: They blitz the crap out of the quarterbacks, and they
- 36:46Speaker 2: get after it, man. Uh, Flores, fantastic. But Kyler Murray
- 36:51Speaker 2: is the QB.
- 36:52Speaker 7: Yeah, no, Flores is amazing. And, um, you know, that's
- 36:57Speaker 7: a guy I would love to see as a head coach.
- 36:59Speaker 7: You know what I mean? Um, but obviously lawsuits, all that,
- 37:02Speaker 7: but that's besides the point. I don't necessarily trust Kyler Murray, right?
- 37:06Speaker 7: I haven't seen him get it done at a consistent clip.
- 37:10Speaker 7: So right now, um, hopefully it seems like he's matured
- 37:14Speaker 7: from the days that, um, you know, Arizona, but yeah,
- 37:19Speaker 7: it takes a special quarterback to lock in all season
- 37:22Speaker 7: and go all the way.
- 37:23Speaker 5: To the dance.
- 37:24Speaker 2: And there's their schedule. Their last three opponents are combined
- 37:26Speaker 2: two and 13. I think there's a little bit.
- 37:28Speaker 5: Of, yeah, I'm not sold. I'm not sold on them.
- 37:31Speaker 5: They can't get the red gloves yet.
- 37:34Speaker 2: Jacksonville, Jacksonville, four and one. They lead the AFC South. They,
- 37:38Speaker 2: they have a solid defense, only 14 points per game allowed.
- 37:42Speaker 2: Trevor Lawrence is, is in command under Liam Cohen. And I, Look,
- 37:46Speaker 2: they play very well in special teams, too.
- 37:49Speaker 5: Yeah, Jacksonville. I like Jacksonville Jaguars a lot. I can't
- 37:54Speaker 5: believe I said that.
- 37:56Speaker 1: That's been a while since anyone said that.
- 37:58Speaker 7: No, but they're doing really well. Liam Cohen is showing improvement.
- 38:03Speaker 7: that he's a great coach. He's able to communicate, obviously,
- 38:06Speaker 7: with those guys. He gets them going week in and
- 38:08Speaker 7: week out. And, you know, they always find a way
- 38:12Speaker 7: to win. And I love the maturation process of Trevor Lawrence.
- 38:16Speaker 7: You know, obviously, he was behind a very strong defense
- 38:20Speaker 7: early in his career, which allowed him to take that
- 38:23Speaker 7: time and mature to be the quarterback that he's been
- 38:26Speaker 7: the last couple of years.
- 38:28Speaker 1: A gift yesterday from Sirianni there. Hey, I'm curious about this.
- 38:32Speaker 5: I'm fascinated.
- 38:33Speaker 2: Buffalo, because I've always been told defense wins championships. They
- 38:37Speaker 2: allow nearly 27 points per game, Keith.
- 38:39Speaker 5: Yeah, it's not sustainable.
- 38:42Speaker 7: But if they can put up 28, you know, they're winning.
- 38:46Speaker 5: It's almost like the Colts, I believe, maybe in like
- 38:49Speaker 5: 05 or 06.
- 38:50Speaker 7: They had like a playoff run where they had the
- 38:53Speaker 7: worst defense in the league, but then they got into
- 38:55Speaker 7: the playoffs and they.
- 38:56Speaker 5: Were playing the lights out. I remember that Colts team.
- 39:00Speaker 5: So you never know.
- 39:02Speaker 7: If they can get through the regular season, you never
- 39:04Speaker 7: know what happens in the playoffs.
- 39:06Speaker 5: They're definitely red glove ready.
- 39:08Speaker 7: Josh Allen is a dog and he brings that mentality
- 39:12Speaker 7: with the team.
- 39:13Speaker 1: He's fantastic.
- 39:14Speaker 2: Who do we have up next? We have the Ravens.
- 39:17Speaker 2: Right now, Lamar Jackson's on the sideline. Derrick Henry's doing
- 39:21Speaker 2: his thing. Are you buying in that with Baltimore winning
- 39:25Speaker 2: and they're able to continue to put up W's without
- 39:28Speaker 2: Lamar Jackson when he gets back?
- 39:30Speaker 1: This is the year they can actually make their run.
- 39:32Speaker 5: Yeah, absolutely.
- 39:33Speaker 7: You know, football is always about who's healthy during playoff time.
- 39:39Speaker 7: So for Lamar to be able to get six quarters
- 39:43Speaker 7: of not playing football to get healthy, and it also
- 39:48Speaker 7: gives the, you know, mentor, I believe that's the head coach.
- 39:52Speaker 1: Yeah, it is.
- 39:53Speaker 5: It gives him an opportunity to get Tyler.
- 39:56Speaker 7: Huntley some work because they're going to need him down
- 39:59Speaker 7: the stretch.
- 40:00Speaker 5: I mean, he's been watching football.
- 40:02Speaker 7: Backup quarterback is a very, very, very valuable position these days.
- 40:07Speaker 7: And to have one that can go out there, win
- 40:09Speaker 7: you a game or two, and if needed to go
- 40:13Speaker 7: in the crunch time to go in and perform without
- 40:16Speaker 7: the OC having to change his offense that much, they're
- 40:19Speaker 7: definitely red blood ready.
- 40:21Speaker 1: Man, Henry looks like he's 27, by the way.
- 40:23Speaker 2: New England, here's a 3-2 team that one week looks
- 40:29Speaker 2: like crap.
- 40:30Speaker 1: The next week, they're boat racing teams. Front seven run stuffers.
- 40:35Speaker 2: Drake May, again, there's inconsistency, but also he's proven that
- 40:40Speaker 2: he can make the run to the Super Bowl.
- 40:43Speaker 7: Yeah, you know, at first, if you would have asked
- 40:46Speaker 7: me this three weeks ago, I would have said no
- 40:48Speaker 7: because I feel that, you know, Since the playoffs, they've
- 40:53Speaker 7: kind of got the word out on Drake May.
- 40:55Speaker 5: You know, they kind of have the formula. So it's
- 40:58Speaker 5: just a little tweaking. Seems like McDaniels went in and
- 41:01Speaker 5: did some tweaking. And then Vrabel brings the attitude, right?
- 41:04Speaker 7: He has vets there that have done it before. I
- 41:07Speaker 7: feel like one of the players that is very instrumental
- 41:10Speaker 7: out there is Kevin Byard. Why we let him go
- 41:13Speaker 7: over here in Tennessee? I don't know. They need a
- 41:15Speaker 7: leader like Kevin Byard in Tennessee right now. But he's
- 41:19Speaker 7: one of the leaders for the New England Patriots, and
- 41:21Speaker 7: you can see why they would have a turnaround.
- 41:24Speaker 5: And A.J. Brown hasn't even been out there for consistently.
- 41:28Speaker 7: So I think, you know, I think New England has
- 41:31Speaker 7: got back on track and they can wear the red
- 41:36Speaker 7: gloves just because they went to the Super Bowl last year.
- 41:38Speaker 2: Braybill's very good against quality opponents. They have wins over Buffalo.
- 41:42Speaker 2: They have wins over Las Vegas and a win over Pittsburgh. Finally,
- 41:47Speaker 2: the Texans at one and four, they're adding Marvin Harrison Jr.,
- 41:51Speaker 2: And they finally got their first win. And we saw
- 41:54Speaker 2: last year they started with three and still make the playoffs.
- 41:58Speaker 5: It's always tough when you start in a hole. I'll
- 42:00Speaker 5: have to look at their schedule.
- 42:03Speaker 7: I'm not giving them red gloves ready right now, you know,
- 42:06Speaker 7: just because they got to win some more games. They
- 42:09Speaker 7: only won one game and that was against the worst
- 42:11Speaker 7: team in the league. So that's not really too impressive.
- 42:14Speaker 7: They went out there and they executed. They got up
- 42:17Speaker 7: early and they let the hounds release. They released the
- 42:20Speaker 7: hounds and those guys, ended with Will Anderson at three sacks. So,
- 42:24Speaker 7: you know, that's the formula to their success, but we
- 42:29Speaker 7: need to see it consistently. Maybe they got back on
- 42:32Speaker 7: track and reestablished their identity.
- 42:34Speaker 1: Dude, coming up, final segment with you.
- 42:36Speaker 2: I want to discuss, because you've been able to travel
- 42:40Speaker 2: all across the world.
- 42:42Speaker 1: I won't be able to do that. I want to
- 42:44Speaker 1: get your.
- 42:45Speaker 2: Take on the best spots where you would go back
- 42:47Speaker 2: to before you visited something somewhere new.
- 42:50Speaker 5: Okay.
- 42:51Speaker 2: That's Keith Bullock with us, host of Bullseye View.
- 42:54Speaker 1: More coming here on How to Withdraw.
