Shaw University has successfully housed every student who applied for on-campus housing this semester, overcoming last year’s housing crisis after the Dimple Newsome dorm fire. With only TOS One and Two open last year—and no single rooms available—this year’s full capacity is a major win. While Dimple Newsome will reopen in fall 2027 and Fleming Kee remains indefinitely closed, safety remains top priority: both Fleming Kee and TOS One were under “fire watch” in July, but TOS One’s was lifted by the end of the month.
