- 0:00Do you think Peter Pie has autism?
- 0:02Let's discuss it. Hey guys, welcome back to the
- 0:11astral world. I'm Dan.
- 0:12I have Asperger's Syndrome ADHD OCD and dyslexia.
- 0:16Hey guys, I'll just be discussing some of the things
- 0:18that I found quite interesting about Felix or PewDiePie as we
- 0:21all know, I'm on the internet and why I think that he may be
- 0:24on the autism spectrum. And yeah, let's get into that
- 0:28discussion. So PewDiePie and Felix is a huge
- 0:32crater hit the biggest crater on the platform for who doesn't
- 0:34know. He has like something like 80
- 0:36Five million subscribers on YouTube.
- 0:38So if you don't know who PewDiePie is, please leave a
- 0:40comment down below and tell me when Earth the rock is that
- 0:43you're living under because he is like the biggest YouTube on
- 0:46the planet. So I was watching PewDiePie.
- 0:48I watch a few of his videos. I think it's really really funny
- 0:50and he has some outrageously funny videos.
- 0:52He was made famous originally by the fact that he made gaming
- 0:56videos. He was a gamer and he made his
- 0:59own game called like the legend of the brofist and all kinds of
- 1:01stuff but he streamed games on YouTube became bigger started
- 1:05vlogging did all kinds of Other cool stuff and now he does kind
- 1:07of like like abstract News videos on YouTube gossip and
- 1:10stuff like that really funny guy.
- 1:12Anyway, his name is Felix and he lives here in the UK in
- 1:14Brighton, but he's from Sweden now something that is really
- 1:17interesting is me and my girlfriend Naomi who is a
- 1:20specialist. She basically has a first-degree
- 1:22honors in childhood studies and development specifically in
- 1:25autism, which is you know, why we get on so basically we are
- 1:28watching Felix's videos and she said, well was he on the
- 1:31Spectrum I said, I don't know and I enjoy his content, but I
- 1:34didn't know if he was on the Spectrum or not, but Then this
- 1:37is what makes me think that he is on the Spectrum.
- 1:40So straight off the bat PewDiePie is a gamer obsessed
- 1:42with games and even releases own games.
- 1:44Like I said legend of the brofist there's I think there's
- 1:47another app. He released another game and the
- 1:49funny thing about it is that people with Autism are super
- 1:52into games that are obsessed with gaming because of the way
- 1:55that our brains are wired, you know, like my favorite game ever
- 1:58is like Pokemon Red for the Gameboy and I was like super old
- 2:00but like Pokemon his life he'll so PewDiePie loves gaming
- 2:05secondly. The guy literally is a recluse.
- 2:08He liked him and his girlfriend living in and have some Brighton
- 2:11and that he's very roughly. She never see him outside never
- 2:14goes to parties doesn't go like you to conventions doesn't go to
- 2:16any conventions. You never see him at like huge
- 2:19big events, which leads me to believe that he does have
- 2:22anxiety and like social anxiety and this is very very common
- 2:26with people on the autism spectrum.
- 2:28Now PewDiePie also displays some autistic traits within two
- 2:33things his his voice is very odd.
- 2:35That's what Yeah, watch till the end of the video for a surprise.
- 2:40So people with often inspection conditions.
- 2:43Sometimes have unusual ways of talking to try and be like
- 2:48trying to fit in or try to find out what is the appropriate way
- 2:51to talk, you know, and and they can learn from things like
- 2:55learning from movies. A lot of people the autism
- 2:56spectrum conditions have slight American accent even though they
- 2:59know only America I myself included in this a lot of people
- 3:03think I am American, but actually I'm from the UK and
- 3:05British and Irish. / UK accent but there's probably an American
- 3:08teen July because of my Asperger's Syndrome now
- 3:11PewDiePie also has this unusual voice he puts on almost and it's
- 3:18an unusual one, but Naomi my partner identified this and said
- 3:22that a lot of the kids that she deals with a lot of people she
- 3:24knows actually with officers and special conditions have this
- 3:27kind of like a new low voice pattern that presents itself in
- 3:31a certain way now PewDiePie also has a very monotone voice so
- 3:36Very monotone. It's not very his voice isn't
- 3:38very exciting and he seems like he's trying his best to talk as
- 3:45normal as possible on camera when he's talking on camera.
- 3:48Now. Another thing is that I did a
- 3:49quick Google and I'm not the only person who thought that
- 3:52PewDiePie may have an Autism Spectrum condition in actual
- 3:54fact a bunch of people said that PewDiePie has an Autism Spectrum
- 3:58condition and they even go as far as asking him questions and
- 4:01somebody tweeted him asking if he had an Autism special
- 4:04edition, but he didn't ever apply, but I did find That
- 4:06somebody did ask him that on Twitter.
- 4:09Now the cool thing is I think it's cool if he does have autism
- 4:12and I think it would be it'd be awesome for Community if they
- 4:15knew he did have autism but you know, some people don't want to
- 4:17identify with that now PewDiePie not only have the monotonal
- 4:21thing and the the squeaky voice and stuff like that.
- 4:24He also seems like a very anxious person.
- 4:26He seems very kind of he doesn't know how to appropriately talk
- 4:29to people in videos. He has got in trouble before for
- 4:33saying the wrong things in a video.
- 4:36Think on his channel. He used some words were very
- 4:39controversial and I think it was deemed as racist as well and see
- 4:42there's some other stuff and he's not really thinking before
- 4:45he does or stuff kind of like I did in the video or something
- 4:47about Jake Paul did the same thing doesn't think before he
- 4:49does those things. You just does it doesn't realize
- 4:51the consequence not having like boundary a barrier a self filter
- 4:56because I myself having autism have this issue with filters.
- 4:59Like I'll meet somebody and say that the most bizarre things
- 5:01them and everyone's like Dan you can't say that to a person and
- 5:03like what on Earth are you doing?
- 5:04Like, how can you even say that? That you know, the people people
- 5:09always think that I'm kind of like I say the wrong things and
- 5:12I get awkward stuff and I can't you know that there's boundaries
- 5:15and stuff that you have to learn to say now.
- 5:17I feel like PewDiePie relates to that in a lot of the controversy
- 5:20that surrounded him and his career now.
- 5:22Look I'm not a psychologist. I'm just a person with autism
- 5:25and I I see that it reflects itself.
- 5:28In other people and I always find like for like like I love
- 5:31watching autistic creators. I love things like Minecraft,
- 5:35you know, it's created by somebody or My love Pokemon
- 5:37created by somebody with autism. I love like Power Rangers a
- 5:39bunch of people on the autism spectrum like Power Rangers, you
- 5:42know, I have a degree in chemistry and I the revolver on
- 5:44those things that are drawn to people with Autism because of
- 5:47our brains working in a similar way.
- 5:49We're going to think somewhat similar.
- 5:51Now, this leads me to believe that PewDiePie May potentially
- 5:54be on the Spectrum. I'm not going to diagnose them
- 5:56on the Internet because I'm not like super weird.
- 5:58Oh that's going to do that. But I'm also going to put that
- 6:00question to you thinking. Hey, you know, you know bunch of
- 6:03guys who watch this channel if you're not already new to this
- 6:05channel if you Your you know longtime subscriber, you'll know
- 6:08yourself like how autistic people are what the
- 6:10characteristics of autism how it presents itself in people what
- 6:13kind of people have autism and and you know, you see those
- 6:17Hallmarks and to me PewDiePie is like a classic example of this,
- 6:20you know, he he's very elusive just videos on his own doesn't
- 6:24really do collaboration videos. Like I said, you seems like a
- 6:26super anxious person seems like he doesn't know much Social
- 6:29conventions. There's no one to stop does know
- 6:31that barrier. What's right or wrong to say in
- 6:34a social convention. What's going to get you in
- 6:36trouble? Not this is why you get in
- 6:38trouble similar to the polls in that respect.
- 6:40But at the end of the day, it's not down to me to diagnose
- 6:43somebody it's down to them to kind of like, you know, the go
- 6:47look for a diagnosis of be happy with fact.
- 6:48I don't have a diagnosis or even though they're not on the
- 6:50Spectrum. I just thought I wanted to bring
- 6:51up this discussion. So I kind of discussion with you
- 6:53guys and I do love to know your thoughts because like it
- 6:56fascinates me it like it fascinates me to see if people
- 6:59in the media have on autism special edition and nobody knows
- 7:02about it. I nobody's talking about it.
- 7:04So let me know what you guys thought if You guys think that
- 7:07PewDiePie has an Autism special edition or if you've noticed
- 7:09this yourself because you might be like, hey Dan, I noticed that
- 7:12PewDiePie. You know, how is autism like two
- 7:14or three years ago. Hey down this article talks
- 7:16about it where PewDiePie discusses autism and so I just
- 7:20like to know that we you know, there's the guy who created
- 7:22Minecraft as well. He you know, he said to have
- 7:25autism when I seen a video where he was on a panel somewhere in
- 7:28Minecraft convention and some kid were up there and said, hey,
- 7:31you know, do you have autism and they kind of shut the power down
- 7:34is this and I'm not gonna answer that question, obviously.
- 7:36Home and had nerve and some people don't want to address
- 7:39that publicly. Some people don't want to
- 7:40address it, you know it in front of their audience base and
- 7:43that's absolutely fine. If you want to do that and I
- 7:45just feel like maybe PewDiePie does feel that he relates to the
- 7:49autism Community but doesn't run it like publicly disclose it
- 7:51because of the way that people may judge him, you know, because
- 7:54there is a lot of judgment in people with Autism when you tell
- 7:58somebody have a lot of special edition, this is the reason this
- 8:00channel exists to try and get rid of all that horrible stigma.
