- 0:08It's the podcast that loves the hockey team you love and sorrow
- 0:12stops him with the blocker. This is the Predator's official
- 0:15podcast with Cara Hammer and Max hers.
- 0:18Santos left, circle Rister his scores on one O 2 five and one O
- 0:246 three. The game at
- 0:26nashvillepredators.com. This is the Predators official
- 0:30podcast here on ESPN. One O 2 five and one O 6 three.
- 0:35The game your exclusive radio home for Nashville Predators
- 0:38hockey. My name is Max hers from Fred's
- 0:41radio joined by Kara Hammer from Predators TV.
- 0:45Hello Hammer. We are now three games into the
- 0:50season long 5 game Predators home stand as we record on
- 0:54Friday January 17th. Friends for two and one.
- 0:57A4. One loss to the Washington
- 0:59Capitals last Saturday night. Tuesday night A53 win over the
- 1:04Vegas Golden Knights for the Predators.
- 1:06One thousandth win in franchise history, not to brag.
- 1:11And then Thursday night Golden Hall induction night and they
- 1:14come from behind 32 shootout win over the Chicago Blackhawks.
- 1:18Lot of home hockey care. It's been a fun week.
- 1:20Two big wins back-to-back. I know it was frustrating after
- 1:24the Capitals lost to kick off the homestand, but on one silver
- 1:28lining of that, Max, I think we're all on this Alex Ovechkin
- 1:32watch. So for him to grab an empty neck
- 1:35goal, obviously we don't like it.
- 1:38We don't like the outcome. But I'm rooting for Obie.
- 1:42So I'm going to walk away with that one saying a little bit of
- 1:44silver lining here. And then you go into Tuesday
- 1:47night, you take on the best team in the West and a massive,
- 1:52massive win over the Vegas Golden Knights.
- 1:54A lot surrounding that game, all eyes on Jonathan Marshes.
- 1:58So taking on his former team, I had him in Skate Up and he kind
- 2:02of got the feeling that as low key as he played this one, no
- 2:08emotion. In the Skate Up interview, you
- 2:10knew that he wanted to win that game.
- 2:13I love the poker face. No, no Las Vegas, pun intended
- 2:17there from Jonathan Marsha. So go against the Golden Knights
- 2:20cuz anytime he is on the ice, he like does not stop chirping
- 2:24everyone, anyone who's been to a Preds practice, he never stops
- 2:27talking all of practice and he takes everything personally.
- 2:31So he comes out against his former team.
- 2:33All these interviews, yeah they're a great team.
- 2:35It's just another game. We've been playing well.
- 2:37We need to keep it going. It's like we know that's not how
- 2:40you really feel. That's so true.
- 2:42I mean, he very, he was very low key.
- 2:44We need to get back into the win column.
- 2:46We know we need to win. My favorite was shot back out to
- 2:49the bench and even Lindsay goes marshy.
- 2:52I love you, but I'm calling you out.
- 2:54We know that's not how you feel. We know you want to win this
- 2:57game. You know skills.
- 2:58He's a former player, has a 1000 NHL games under his belt.
- 3:02Hal said that's how he had to approach it though.
- 3:05He couldn't have this mentality of getting too high for the game
- 3:09because then it it, it takes you out of your game.
- 3:11So we had to go in there with that mindset.
- 3:14I thought Marshall still played exceptionally well in that game,
- 3:16especially at the beginning when the Predator said maybe their
- 3:19best period of the season. In the first period of that game
- 3:23against the Knights on Tuesday, Marcia so was generating chances
- 3:26left and right and he set up Nick Blankenberg for what I
- 3:29thought was an unbelievable no look pass out of the corner 5
- 3:33minutes into that game on Marcia so. 2nd shift of the game.
- 3:36Then he had a breakaway where Ilya Samsonov robbed him with
- 3:40the windmill glove save halfway through the 1st.
- 3:42And then he made the play on the Preds first goal, wrapping the
- 3:45puck around the net. Somehow he didn't get an assist
- 3:47on this goal, but he made the play to make it 1.
- 3:50Nothing Preds. They ended up going up 4 nothing
- 3:52in this game. And they needed those four as
- 3:55the Golden Knights got it back within one and the Preds got an
- 3:58empty netter with one second left and some great goal tending
- 4:01down the stretch from Eustis on. And then as the Preds beat the
- 4:04Golden Knights five to three and what was a really big win
- 4:07against the top team in the entire NHL standings.
- 4:10Can I tell you something that happened to me during that game
- 4:12that has never happened to me before?
- 4:14Max. I have no idea what this is
- 4:16going to be. OK, well, if you did not know,
- 4:18there were plenty of alumni, alumni, excuse me, in the
- 4:21building that night, including Eric Nystrom, former Nashville
- 4:25Predator. I was grabbing him for a quick
- 4:28interview and that interview just happened to come at the
- 4:33same time as Steven Stamkos won a face off and Phil Phil
- 4:36Forsberg scores goal. I've never had that before.
- 4:40Was not quite sure how to play it.
- 4:42Eric Nystrom, true pro, kept going, finished his thought, and
- 4:47we got to send it back up to Willie as Tim McGraw was
- 4:49singing. Oh, I thought Bobby and I was
- 4:51going to call the goal there. I, you know, I don't know, I
- 4:53thought Bob Cole in the truck was going to have a heart attack
- 4:56because you know, you can't miss the goal.
- 4:59You can't miss it. You got to get that on the TV.
- 5:01But great to have some of these alumni back in the building And
- 5:04you know, I I saw them on on Thursday night said we do we
- 5:06need to go 2 for two here. Eric, come back on.
- 5:10Let's let's have another one. That goal by Philip Forsberg I
- 5:14think surprised everybody, especially the goalie who was
- 5:16not ready to make a save right out of the TV time out there.
- 5:19Forsberg had a goal in an assist in the game.
- 5:21Stephen Stamkos had his first 3 point game as a Pred with two
- 5:25goals and an assist. Jonathan Marshall so only came
- 5:28out of the game with one point, which was insane because he
- 5:30generated three of the four Preds goals against the goalie
- 5:34in that game. And Justin Baron had his first
- 5:36goal in gold in his eighth game as a Pred goal that was
- 5:40generating comparisons to Shay Weber in the locker room after
- 5:43the game. Little 86 mile an hour bar down
- 5:45one timer. Did he know Shay was in the
- 5:47building? I think he did, but yeah, there
- 5:49was, I forgot who said it. It was whoever was handing out
- 5:53the the end of game party favors for the Preds.
- 5:57They were like maybe a little Shay Weber and a couple guys
- 5:59went, oh, like that's sacrilege. Nobody's Shay Weber, which was
- 6:04funny. I love it.
- 6:06I I got to speak with with Justin Baron after the game and
- 6:09it was exciting because it's his first game as a Nashville
- 6:11Predator, but also comes on a cool night when it's the team's
- 6:14one thousandth franchise win. Yeah, that was fun.
- 6:18And I think the sentiment from the team was no one had any idea
- 6:21that they were on the verge of that milestone cuz I mean, it's
- 6:24something that the team would not be aware of.
- 6:26And they put it on the board immediately after the game.
- 6:28And everyone in the post game interviews, including Andrew
- 6:31Brunette, who was of course the game-winning goal scorer in win
- 6:34number one for the Preds, he was just honored to be a part of it
- 6:39and said, yeah, maybe it made him feel a little old, but he's
- 6:42had a lot of reasons to feel old as he returned to Smashville in
- 6:45his 50s. So you know that Nashville was
- 6:47the second fastest team to reach the milestone, only behind the
- 6:51Philadelphia Flyers. And you kind of go back and it
- 6:54was only a handful of games that they missed out on.
- 6:56I mean, would you ever, in any realm or any world, go 10 games
- 7:02back and say, hey, we can get this record if we just win five
- 7:06more games? Could have been a motivational
- 7:08speech waiting to happen. Fred's held on despite allowing
- 7:12a natural hat trick in this game to Pavel Dorothea, who's having
- 7:15a nice year for the Golden Knights.
- 7:17He got three in a row. Golden Knights got it down to
- 7:19four, three with under 5 minutes left.
- 7:21Eustace on and made a couple massive saves 5 on 6 to seal
- 7:25this win, including a two save sequence.
- 7:28Alex Petrangelo, one timer from the left point, Jack Eichel the
- 7:31doorstep rebound on and then stopped them both.
- 7:34Pretty cool for Ottenen playing in front of Peck Arena in the
- 7:37NHL for the first time. Who is his goaltending idol?
- 7:40On and In, as we've talked about before on the podcast, is from
- 7:43the same small town in Finland as Peck Arena, played for the
- 7:46same Finnish league club team Car Pot traded to the Preds.
- 7:50Rene was not the one who made the scout and the recommendation
- 7:54for the trade per SE, but he gave him a big vote of
- 7:56confidence and said I've seen him skate in the summers since
- 7:59he was a teenager back in Kempole and he knew this was a
- 8:02future NHL goalie. So cool for On and then to get
- 8:05to play in front of Pekka on Golden Hall week for the first
- 8:08time and come up big with some big saves and a big Preds win.
- 8:11I I think it was really interesting to hear Pekka's
- 8:14thoughts on his specific style of play.
- 8:17He said when on and in was with the Avalanche, Colorado really
- 8:20wanted him to play out in front of the crease, really try to
- 8:23attack the puck, But that wasn't his style.
- 8:26That wasn't where he was excelling.
- 8:27So working with Ben Vanderklok and Mitch Korn, they they said,
- 8:31hey, you have the body, you can you can sit back a little
- 8:33farther, you know, stand in the net.
- 8:35And that was a little bit more of Pekka's style of play with
- 8:38that big size body. So I think that the two were
- 8:41able to playoff of each other and it was kinda neat to hear
- 8:44Pekka's thoughts on it. Yeah, I still can't believe the
- 8:46ABS gave up on on and then the way they did just training him
- 8:50one for one at a backup goalie swap.
- 8:52He's looked exceptional in six starts as a pred.
- 8:55Good numbers, and I think we're gonna see a lot of him the rest
- 8:57of the way. Giving UC sorrow some extended
- 8:59breathers like he had this week. He went five days between
- 9:02starts. That is rare for UC Soros.
- 9:05Yeah, but he's UC Soros, He's juice.
- 9:07And like Stammer told me, little juice and big juice.
- 9:10We also did we have a nickname Revelation, by the way, on
- 9:13Smashville Live this week with Jeremy Lausanne and Cole Smith.
- 9:17We had we had Eustis Onitan referred to as Big J.
- 9:22So big juice has been shortened to Big Ji.
- 9:24Feel like that sounds like a basketball name.
- 9:26Big J. Well, I I've heard before Big J
- 9:30journalism when you ask the tough questions.
- 9:32So whenever we interview Eustis on and then we will be
- 9:34conducting Big J journalism. That's hilarious.
- 9:39Well, we Wednesday was about the the golden luncheon.
- 9:44So we're going to get to that, I think in the second segment
- 9:46where we can break down everything that happened on
- 9:48Wednesday. But let's go into Thursday
- 9:50night. Max, a big win over the Chicago
- 9:52Blackhawks after the team came out and did not play.
- 9:57I guess we'll say it the Predator way, how they expected
- 9:59to play, what they needed to do in the 1st 40 minutes of the
- 10:02game. But Philip Forsberg Nets his
- 10:04three hundredth goal, and that was a shot.
- 10:10This game did not start well, yeah, but it turned into an
- 10:13awesome comeback and all of the goals in regulation were
- 10:16courtesy of the Forsberg family. In this game, the first goal was
- 10:19a power play goal. Stephen Stamkos.
- 10:21Nice one timer from the backside of the left circle, all while
- 10:26George Kittle was chugging a beer on the scoreboard with baby
- 10:30Felix Forsberg being held up floating behind him in an iconic
- 10:34Smashville moment. I, I, I think when I was
- 10:39watching on the video board, I was getting set to interview NHL
- 10:44Deputy Commissioner Bill Daley, who was in the building because
- 10:46USA Hockey team, not the USA Hockey team, USA Hockey in
- 10:51general, is here having their winter meetings as we get set to
- 10:55watch Team USA. He was promoting the Four
- 10:58Nations face off coming up in February.
- 11:00But Max, I was watching on the video board, I see George Kittle
- 11:03trugging a beer and then boom, the goal horn.
- 11:05I mean, it was like In Sync. The two were connected.
- 11:10I also have a question for our listeners out there.
- 11:12I posted this on my Instagram and I got some questions of why
- 11:15don't you know his name? Because I put does anybody else
- 11:18have Greg Kittle chugging beers at their work?
- 11:21And everyone was like, who's Greg Kittle?
- 11:23Like how do you not know his name?
- 11:24It's George Kittle. I thought this was a thing that
- 11:27so many people messed up his name and called him Greg that he
- 11:30started going by Greg a few years ago.
- 11:33But apparently either I dreamt this or no one knows about it
- 11:36other than me. So someone, if I'm right, I
- 11:39looked it up. It is true.
- 11:40But I apparently it originated because there was a Twitter poll
- 11:44from ESPN of who should be the All Pro or who's the best tight
- 11:47end in the NFL. Yeah, but Greg Kittle.
- 11:51And then he went on TV with an I am Greg name tag or hi, my name
- 11:55is Greg. So to me forever, he's Greg
- 11:57Kittle, Nashville resident Philip Forsberg's best friend.
- 12:01I think he chugged 5 beers at the end of the game.
- 12:04After the game, Philip Forsberg was asked in his post game press
- 12:07conference what he thought of the performance.
- 12:09And he goes, I'm sure George has been fully served.
- 12:13He doesn't he doesn't need any more after all that, but only in
- 12:17Smashville UC Soros was exceptional in this game some
- 12:19massive breakaway saves to keep this game within reach.
- 12:23I I think he was your number one star of this game without a
- 12:25doubt. Big night for Soros high danger
- 12:28chances and breakaways left and right and that allows the preds
- 12:31to do this down a goal with three minutes left quick pass up
- 12:35now for Forsberg Forsberg right circle he.
- 12:38Scored Phillip Forsberg scored to tie it.
- 12:44Up the great quick up pass by Nick Blankenberg.
- 12:47A2 line pass Philip Forsberg knew he didn't have the full on
- 12:51breakaway so we loaded up the Clapper. 88 miles an hour.
- 12:55Perfectly placed high blocker on Orvid.
- 12:58Solder bloom to tie the game and get it to OT.
- 13:01Eventually do a shootout. Finally the first shootout of
- 13:04the season, one more than halfway through it.
- 13:06I don't know if you guys forgot last year, the Preds are pretty
- 13:08good at the shootout stuff. They only missed one shootout
- 13:12shot all of last season. 6 out of seven this time, 3 for three.
- 13:18Gus Nyquist, goal. Ryan O'Reilly, goal.
- 13:20Steven Stamkos, Goal. UC Soros with a big save on
- 13:23Connor Bedard, who had never been unsuccessful in an NHL
- 13:27shootout before that game. The Preds get it done.
- 13:30Shootout wins. Shootouts are fun.
- 13:32We need more shootouts. I think shootouts should be at
- 13:34the beginning of games. Really.
- 13:36Yeah. I I felt like I was enjoying
- 13:39the, the three on three overtime.
- 13:40I think that the Phil's goal at the end of the third period kind
- 13:44of gave the guys a boost of momentum.
- 13:45The one that they had been searching for throughout the
- 13:47rest of the, the game. And you know, they, they outshot
- 13:51him six to two in the overtime. But going to the shootout, I
- 13:53asked Bruno, hey, it's the first one of the season.
- 13:55How are you guys feeling down there?
- 13:56And he looked at me and goes, We got shooters, we felt good.
- 14:00So Bruno agrees with me, clearly.
- 14:02Yeah, and you know, they were debating who was going to go
- 14:04first. Did they want to shoot first?
- 14:06Did did they want the Blackhawks to shoot first?
- 14:08Cuz being the home team, you have the choice.
- 14:10But how do you decide there? I mean, you have stamp codes,
- 14:13you have O'Reilly, you have Nyquist.
- 14:14Who do you want to go up first? Who would be?
- 14:17I know I go similar order. I feel bad Philip Forsberg
- 14:19didn't get to shoot like I'm turning to this into like kids
- 14:21hockey. Like I want my son to shoot like
- 14:24I want Philip Forsberg to shoot like.
- 14:25That'ss why I'mat the game. Come on, No, they didn't need
- 14:28him. Yeah, Speaking of, Speaking of,
- 14:31of kids down there, it was the dad's trip for the Chicago
- 14:34Blackhawks. So Nashville Plains spoiler with
- 14:37the dads in the building. But but you have to send them
- 14:39home. You have to look at that too as
- 14:41being a big one because you know those guys were playing with a
- 14:43little extra, a little extra motivation.
- 14:46Yeah, and how Gill felt old because he has two former NHL
- 14:50teammates whose kids are on the Blackhawks.
- 14:52So yeah, hell always feels old, but was felt especially old that
- 14:56game. One more shootout stat for you.
- 14:58Ryan O'Reilly has shot in four shootouts as a Pred.
- 15:02The Preds have won all of them. That's every shootout they've
- 15:05been in the past two seasons since he joined the team.
- 15:08He leads the NHL during that time.
- 15:09Most shootout attempts without a miss.
- 15:11Over the last two seasons, he's 4 for four.
- 15:13Only one other guy is even 2 for two.
- 15:15That's Valna Chuskin from the ABS Mr. Factor getting it done.
- 15:19Preds 9 out of 10 in the shootout over the last two
- 15:23seasons and the preschoolies have only given up two goals in
- 15:28four shootouts over that time. We need to get some more
- 15:29shootouts. This is clearly the problem.
- 15:31I was gonna say, I mean, there was seven straight overtime
- 15:34losses. I mean, yeah, if they could have
- 15:36just counted down the clock and got into the shootout, Max,
- 15:38maybe we'd have a few more points on our.
- 15:41Yeah, well, a fun comeback. Crowd was great on Golden Hall
- 15:44induction night at Bridgestone Arena.
- 15:46We'll take a break, come back and talk about Golden Hall Week.
- 15:49It was awesome. 2 day long celebration welcoming Shay Weber
- 15:53and Peck Arena, the two best players in Nashville Predators
- 15:56history and longtime Preds GM David Poyle as the inaugural
- 15:59class of the Predators Team Hall of Fame that opened this week in
- 16:03Smashville. You are listening to the
- 16:05Predators official podcast on ESPN.
- 16:07One O 2 five and one O 6 three. The game.
- 16:09I am Max Herz from Predator Hooters Radio.
- 16:11She is Kara Hammer from Predators TV.
- 16:14This is the POP. Welcome back to The Predator's
- 16:51official podcast here on ESPN 102.5 and 106.3 The Game.
- 16:57My Name is Max Herz from Preds Radio along with Kara Hammer
- 17:01from Predators TV. We are right in the middle of a
- 17:04season long 5 game homestand for the Predators here in mid
- 17:07January. Up next Saturday night, Keith
- 17:11Urban night Keith Urban bobbleheads, Keith Urban
- 17:14national anthem, Keith Urban intermission performance
- 17:18Saturday night against the Wild, then Tuesday night against the
- 17:21San Jose Sharks to finish up the five game Homer here at
- 17:25Bridgestone Arena. Two awesome days downtown this
- 17:28week. Golden Hall induction ceremony.
- 17:31Pecorina Shay Weber and David Poyle forming the foundation and
- 17:34inaugural class of the Predators team Hall of Fame.
- 17:37Kara, we were at the luncheon at the Renaissance Hotel just up
- 17:40the block from Bridgestone Arena on Wednesday afternoon when the
- 17:44guys were given their golden jackets for the Hall of Fame,
- 17:47which are pretty Dang slick, if I say so myself.
- 17:51And then before the game on Thursday, you guys all saw them
- 17:53dropping the ceremonial first puck before the Preds face the
- 17:56Blackhawks. Really cool week.
- 17:59These are all guys we've honored before.
- 18:01It's not getting old. It's not and I think the Golden
- 18:05Hall was special. The lunch was special because
- 18:09you got to hear from coaches and people who had an impact on
- 18:16these players lives. You know, for let's we'll start
- 18:19with Pekka for his video that they aired.
- 18:22It was narrated by UC Soros. And as you and I both know,
- 18:26Juice is he, he's not a very vocal guy.
- 18:28He's pretty quiet. He's a little shy.
- 18:31So for him to to get up and and read that even Pekka said he was
- 18:34probably nervous doing it. It was an amazing video.
- 18:38Everyone was emotional. Pekka's was speech, I guess, was
- 18:43given by Ben Vanderklok, former his current goalie coach, and
- 18:48Mitch Korn, his first former goalie coach.
- 18:51So it was kind of neat to hear from both of those guys.
- 18:53It's so great. The Predators are in season 26
- 18:56here. Yeah, everybody was there, like
- 18:59everybody from the whole history of the team, and history has
- 19:01repeated itself with a lot of these guys.
- 19:03Mitch Korn left and came back with Barry Trotz.
- 19:07Every single step of the franchise was represented, and
- 19:10so many Preds alumni were there too.
- 19:11Yeah, so for for David Poyle, he was given his speech by Bryn
- 19:17Peterson. And that was really neat to hear
- 19:19because these guys had started out, you know, how long had they
- 19:22been together? And you want to talk about some
- 19:24of the alumni in the building? I mean, Kevin Kline telling
- 19:27memories of when him and Pekka live together in Milwaukee and
- 19:30he was Pekka's alarm clock. You know, Packa, there was a
- 19:33running joke that Packa used to have to run to the rink because
- 19:35he didn't have a car and you would miss his alarm clock or
- 19:37miss his ride. Then you have guys like Marty E
- 19:41Rad and Eric Nystrom, who we mentioned, James Neal was there.
- 19:44So a lot of Mark Mauer's like just guys who have been here
- 19:49since day one and who have been here, you know, up until now.
- 19:52Really cool. Yeah, so many great fans were
- 19:54there, too. On Wednesday, Shay Webber's
- 19:56video was narrated by Roman Yosi.
- 19:59Like it's. These guys all have their
- 20:01littles, and their littles are starting to get old.
- 20:04Shay Weber gave Roman Yoshi a little crack.
- 20:06Roman's getting old now, mid. 30s So Mike Fisher was also
- 20:10there and he had some kind words to say for Shay Weber.
- 20:14But Max, think of all the things that stood out to me was that
- 20:19the current players were there. We know the season that this
- 20:22team has had and how many times did Pecka and Shay look to that
- 20:26table and say to them, when it's done, it's done.
- 20:30And they talked about how much they miss it.
- 20:32And he goes, Shay made a made a joke.
- 20:35Once you start coaching your kids hockey team, it's just not
- 20:37the same, you know? Do you feel like that kind of
- 20:40maybe resonated with some of those guys coming out on
- 20:42Thursday night's win against Chicago?
- 20:43Yeah, I think any reminder to savor it for all of us.
- 20:47Yeah, it's so great because the games come so fast and the
- 20:51season flies. All the games blend together.
- 20:53And for those guys taking the physical toll too, I mean, there
- 20:57got to be days when when it's tough to go out there and put
- 20:59your body on the line, but they keep on doing it.
- 21:01And I think the reminder from 2 incredible players.
- 21:05And by the way, you mentioned earlier that you interviewed
- 21:08Bill Daley from the NHL at the game on Thursday night.
- 21:11One thing that was said a couple of times on Wednesday was two of
- 21:15these three went into the Hockey Hall of Fame and the other one
- 21:18better be there soon. Bill Daley basically said to you
- 21:21care on TV, he guaranteed that Pecorine would make the Hockey
- 21:25Hall of Fame. Well, he needs to be there.
- 21:27Yeah, it's music to my ears. We know it.
- 21:29But. Yeah, I, I, I like it.
- 21:31I mean it, it was a nice way to honor these guys.
- 21:36Obviously David and Shay both in the Hockey Hall of Fame.
- 21:39But now that the Golden Hall of Fame and there's a thing in
- 21:42Bridgestone Arena right now, so if you're at the game, you could
- 21:45come, you can walk down the golden Hallway and you could see
- 21:47their photos and read a little bit about them.
- 21:49That's on the Gary Force Acura level, which is the 200 level of
- 21:54seats, the second level from the top at Bridgestone Arena near
- 21:57the alumni puck wall that was put in last season for the 25th
- 22:00anniversary. Can we get sappy with these
- 22:03guys? Hammer?
- 22:03You want to hear from the Hall of Farmers?
- 22:05Oh, I'm always sappy anytime you know, me and me and Pecka, we
- 22:08have this Max. We've we've been emotional.
- 22:11I've made him cry with his 300th win.
- 22:13I mean, I was tearing up during his his last game, the interview
- 22:16that we had together. So let's get sappy.
- 22:18All right, here's Peck Arena talking about the honor of going
- 22:21into the Golden Hall of Fame and the two guys he went in with.
- 22:24Oh, this is so cool. I mean, it's fully this time I
- 22:27get to share this with, with Shay and David and I, I, I think
- 22:31both of those guys had a, such a huge impact on my career and as
- 22:35a player. And you know, David obviously
- 22:37giving me opportunity and he was the GM of my throughout my
- 22:40career and, and just, you know, for him to trust me like that
- 22:45and, and, and gave me the opportunity changed my life
- 22:50truly. And and then with Shay I, we, we
- 22:53turned pro at the same time 2000 and five 2006 season and started
- 22:58in Milwaukee. And he had a, he had a quicker
- 23:00route to NHL than me, but you could tell right away this guy
- 23:04is something special. And and he was probably like the
- 23:07first, first superstar. I played with him and just
- 23:12learned a lot from him. Even though he's younger than
- 23:14me, he's born 85, I'm 82 and but he was my captain and I always,
- 23:21I always felt like he's like my older brother, even though he's
- 23:24younger and I looked up to him. And so it means a lot to me that
- 23:30I have this honor to do this with David and Shay.
- 23:36I think it's cool that they both went in together and Max, one
- 23:40thing I learned, he talked about Shay Weber being a superstar and
- 23:43David Poyle informed us that they found Shay Weber when they
- 23:46were in Kelowna because they actually came to look at another
- 23:50defenseman Shay had been playing on.
- 23:52The third pair wasn't a guy who was super on their radar.
- 23:56They talked about where they were able to draft him and we
- 23:58also kind of learned the same sort of back story about
- 24:01Pecorine. I think he was picked, what, 200
- 24:03and 85th overall? He wasn't even playing in the
- 24:06game. David said.
- 24:08When they went over to scout him, the coach called the scout
- 24:11and said you better be here early because he's not playing.
- 24:13So if you want to see him, you're going to have to check
- 24:14him out in warmups. But when they saw Peck on the
- 24:17ice, they knew he was the guy. And look how well their careers
- 24:20have turned out. All right, now we'll go for the
- 24:23reverse SAP. As you said, we've seen Peck
- 24:26Arena get emotional before, Shay Weber a little bit less
- 24:29frequently in the emotional category.
- 24:30Publicly, I would say, but not this week.
- 24:33Here's Shay Weber talking about his great friend Peck Arena.
- 24:36It's incredible. Obviously he's one of I keep in
- 24:39touch with a lot of teammates, but I talk to him all the time.
- 24:41And like I said, we came to Milwaukee at the same time
- 24:45together and it was new to both of us the whole pro game and to
- 24:49spend, I don't know, 810, eleven years together, it was pretty, I
- 24:55mean, it's not usual for teammates to spend that much
- 24:58time together. So our friendship is, I mean, as
- 25:01good as it's going to get and to be going in with him is I mean,
- 25:04I, I don't think I'd want anyone else.
- 25:06We all. Know that he's a good guy, but
- 25:08from your advantage .11 makes. Sense is he a good guy?
- 25:14No, you guys all know he's he's such a big hearted guy.
- 25:17Obviously he's he's a competitor on the ice, but off the ice he
- 25:21loves. He's just a big, big, loving guy
- 25:23and great personality, great family and everything about him.
- 25:30When Packer was on last night, Willie asked him, do you
- 25:33remember the plane rides and the bus rides and the and the night
- 25:36out as much as you remember the games?
- 25:39And he said, yeah, because those memories are they're they're
- 25:42just as prevalent as as all the nights they spent playing on the
- 25:45ice together. It's cool to see their
- 25:48friendship. I mean, what a special moment
- 25:50and what a special week here in Smashville.
- 25:52And all of it summed up by the man who made them preds and
- 25:54joined them in the inaugural Golden Hall class, David Poyle.
- 25:58Well, when you're looking to build a team, you're looking
- 26:00for, you know the players that can be help you on your success
- 26:04on the ice, but you're also looking for role models you're
- 26:07looking for. Guys that can.
- 26:09Make it make a difference, not just with, you know, goals,
- 26:12saves, wins, but you know, in the community and you've seen
- 26:15what they've done in Best Buddies, 365 Cancer Fund, all
- 26:19the other other things. They were leaders.
- 26:21They were special, special people.
- 26:23Again, when you go back and if you ask me like what was your
- 26:26vision in 1997 about certain things, Shea and Pekka, those
- 26:31types of people were in my vision to be part of this
- 26:34franchise. I think that's the perfect way
- 26:36to sum up this whole week from David Boyle and these three were
- 26:41were the blueprint and the execution for the first quarter
- 26:44century of Preds hockey. Yeah, it's neat to hear the back
- 26:48story of 365 and how it got started.
- 26:50And even when Shea was traded, Pekka said he was still
- 26:53involved. He he was still helping out.
- 26:55Pekka goes, yeah, I was the face of it.
- 26:57I was the spokesperson. I was here for everything.
- 27:00But Shea was still heavily, heavily involved.
- 27:02That was one thing he did not want to give up when he was sent
- 27:04to Montreal. So great to have those guys here
- 27:08this week. Shout outs to to all of their
- 27:10families as well. One big revelation of the day.
- 27:16On Wednesday, Pecorine announced that he and his partner are
- 27:19expecting their second baby boy. Yeah.
- 27:21Unbelievable. Paulus needed a backup.
- 27:24He did 22 little pecorine sons. Yeah, and Pecca son Paulus was
- 27:31here for his statue unveiling. Did not make the trip from
- 27:33Finland this time, but that's a cute kid.
- 27:36And Shay Weber's three kids who are now all between ages I
- 27:41believe 10 and 15 or 8 and 15, maybe 3.
- 27:45Really cute kids. Beautiful family of five.
- 27:48So great to have them all in Smashville.
- 27:50And thank you to everyone who came out.
- 27:52Fred's ownership was well represented there.
- 27:54Bill Haslam, Fred's incoming owner, was on the stage along
- 27:59with Herb Fritz, representing the Predators current ownership
- 28:02group and also the Mayor. Freddie O'Connell was there as
- 28:05well, making sure that Pete and Claudia Weber were having their
- 28:08trash picked up regularly as scheduled, doing his Mayor Lee
- 28:12duties. Where does that even come from?
- 28:17That's Pete and Claudia Weber. They go straight to the top when
- 28:19they're having a problem and they go.
- 28:21Were they having a problem? Yeah, they were, and the mayor
- 28:23took care of it for. Him.
- 28:24I love this. Straight to the top.
- 28:25Yeah, we are. We are thinking of the Weber
- 28:27family this week as well. Check in on Pete and Claudia
- 28:30Monday 1st of Alltel Pete, happy birthday because it's his
- 28:33birthday on Sunday this week he will be turning 74, which as we
- 28:37say in the hockey world, it is his UC sorrows year.
- 28:40So happy early 74th birthday to Pete Weber.
- 28:43Some of you actually will hear this podcast playing on Sunday
- 28:46on 1025 the game which will be Weber's birthday.
- 28:49But Monday night, college football national championship,
- 28:52Pete Weber's alma mater, Notre Dame against his wife Claudia's
- 28:55alma mater, the Ohio State. I don't know what's going to
- 29:00happen with Smashville's most lovely couple.
- 29:03I don't know. I did hear Pete joking that they
- 29:05may need a divorce attorney on file.
- 29:08Oh no. I mean, you never know.
- 29:10I mean, they're they're into it. And as we know, they are heavily
- 29:14involved in their alumni. It's a big one.
- 29:17Yeah. Who do you got in this one, by
- 29:18the way, Max? Do you have a dog in the fight?
- 29:21I think I'm rooting for Notre Dame, but I will pick Ohio
- 29:24State. I'm definitely rooting for Notre
- 29:28Dame. Don't tell Lindsay Rally, who is
- 29:30also an Ohio girl. That's her team skills.
- 29:36He's on her side. I don't know, I'm going to.
- 29:37I'm going to have to reach out to Willie and Mace now and see
- 29:39where they're going because this broadcast team might be divided.
- 29:43Hal is in Ohio State frontrunner.
- 29:45He's a one year Ohio State dad. His daughter was there for one
- 29:49year and then transferred for lacrosse.
- 29:51So I don't know how's just doing it to appease Lindsay.
- 29:54I think right, I'd rather antagonize Lindsay than give in
- 29:57to the demands of Big Buckeye. I don't, I don't know.
- 30:01I just I I feel like. I'm but I think they're gonna
- 30:03win so. Yeah, I'm rooting for Notre
- 30:04Dame. I'm I'm rooting for a coach
- 30:06Freeman. So that's where I'm at.
- 30:07Yeah, and those of you who are in Nashville, you can hear the
- 30:10College Football Playoff on one O 25 the game with our friends
- 30:12from ESPN Radio. Sean McDonough will have the
- 30:15call. So big NHL voice announcing the
- 30:18football game here on Preds Radio.
- 30:20We're gonna take a break. Come back.
- 30:21USA Hockey had their meetings in Nashville for the first time
- 30:24ever this week and it's not going to be the last time.
- 30:27We'll tell you about that. And a big announcement from USA
- 30:29Hockey in rewarding a Preds executive this week as well.
- 30:33This is the Predators official podcast on ESPN 102.5 and 106.3.
- 30:37The game Max, hers, Kara Hammer and you here on The POP.
- 31:30Welcome back to The Predator's official podcast here on ESPN
- 31:34102.5 and 106.3. The Game, Max Sir, is from
- 31:38Fred's radio here with Kara Hammer from Predators TV.
- 31:44Kara, it was a big week in Smashville for a lot of reasons.
- 31:47We were honored to host USA Hockey's annual winter meetings
- 31:52this week. They've been in Florida for a
- 31:54long time. Figured they'd change it up.
- 31:57Come on down to Smashville. Nice place to visit and they,
- 32:00before they even left, announced that the meetings would be here
- 32:03for three more years. Every winter, yeah.
- 32:05It's. A great place.
- 32:06Sticking around, I know baseball has their winter meetings here,
- 32:09so it's good to have more people involved.
- 32:10Yeah. So USA Hockey in the building,
- 32:13we will have Pat Keller, the Executive Director of USA
- 32:17Hockey, joining both Preds Radio and Preds TV on their pregame
- 32:21shows for the game on Saturday night.
- 32:23So those of you who are driving to the game on Saturday, as you
- 32:26hear this, he will be on Pred's radio at around 610 on the
- 32:31pregame show and on Pred's TVI believe sometime around 6:45.
- 32:36I don't know your guys schedule, 64645.
- 32:39I don't know. Whenever he shows, he shows he's
- 32:43there. Pred's TV.
- 32:43Cara Hammer's just winging it out there.
- 32:46What I do Max? I just show up.
- 32:47Just kidding, they have a plan, I just don't know it.
- 32:51But he will be on Pred's radio and Pred's TV tonight.
- 32:53Great to have the whole USA Hockey crew and they made a
- 32:56massive announcement. Kara honoring a Preds executive
- 32:59so many times. David Poyle was the GM of USA
- 33:04Hockey's World Championship team, which is the international
- 33:07tournament that takes place in Europe in the spring, usually
- 33:11during the NHL playoffs. He had been the GM many times
- 33:15David Poyle had for USA Hockey and the Predators have a new man
- 33:19in that position. He's not new to the Preds
- 33:21organization. It's long time assistant general
- 33:24manager Jeff Kelty, who has been the Predators director of
- 33:28amateur Scouting and an assistant GM for a decade and
- 33:321/2 with the Predators. He's been with the organization
- 33:35nearly their entire existence. Kelty was actually a player for
- 33:39the Milwaukee Admirals the year one of the Preds ended up having
- 33:42to stop playing because of injury, but shortly thereafter
- 33:45joined the Preds scouting department in the early 2000s
- 33:48and as an assistant GM of the Preds.
- 33:50He will be the GM of USA Hockey's World Championship team
- 33:53this spring for the tournament in Stockholm, Sweden and earning
- 33:58Denmark. Wow, that's cool.
- 34:00Congrats, Jeff Kelty. We're excited.
- 34:02I'm a big Jeff Kelty fan for a lot of reasons.
- 34:04Great guy, long time Preds exec, but also I love him because his
- 34:08brother played college baseball at Boston College.
- 34:11Jeff Kelsey played college hockey at Boston University.
- 34:14So OK BCBU in the family, not sure how that goes down up there
- 34:17in Boston. Big rivalry.
- 34:19But his brother played college baseball at Boston College and
- 34:23played in the Cape Cod Baseball League.
- 34:25For my beloved world famous Chad Amaze of Summer Catch fame, The
- 34:30greatest baseball movie of all time, starring Jessica Biel and
- 34:33Freddie Prinze Junior there. You go, Jessica Biel.
- 34:36So big for Jeff Kelsey. Yeah, we got to get Jessica Biel
- 34:38mentioned in at some point here on The POP.
- 34:41I think she's a Colorado girl. Oh, there you go.
- 34:45They know how to make them out there.
- 34:46Shout out to Jessica Biel, but shout out to Jeff Kelty.
- 34:49Team USAGM for USA Hockey. Really cool.
- 34:52They've they've been usually it's NHLGMS who do this.
- 34:55The last two years it's been assistant GMs and last year it
- 34:58was Brett Peterson, not our Brent Peterson.
- 35:02Brett Peterson who is the assistant GM of the Florida
- 35:04Panthers, who was the first black GM of the USA Hockey team
- 35:09for the World Championships. And now this year Jeff Kelty,
- 35:12another assistant GM, gets the nod.
- 35:13So really cool to see Kelts honored that way.
- 35:16He will be selecting a team that presumably will be comprised
- 35:20completely of NHL players. I'm excited a lot to talk about
- 35:24and next as we highlight Jeff Kelty and the, you know, I feel
- 35:31like we skipped out a little bit on a member of USA Hockey coming
- 35:34up for the Four Nations face off.
- 35:36We've talked so much about the players, but I have to give a
- 35:39little love to our guy Kevin Morley, who will be the athletic
- 35:42trainer for Team USA. He's excited, he's excited and
- 35:47we've got 4 Preds going into the tournament, two players for
- 35:51Sweden, Philip Forsberg and Gus Nyquist, one player for Finland,
- 35:54UC Soros, and one athletic trainer behind the scenes for
- 35:57USA. Kevin Morley.
- 35:59Keeping our Americans healthy and ready to go, that's going to
- 36:01be a lot of fun. That is an All Star team on the
- 36:03training table who he will be working with.
- 36:06I mean, it's so cool. I'm so excited for him.
- 36:08He's a he's a great guy. And I saw the Team USA jersey
- 36:13because the USA Hockey gifted one to Sean Henry, a
- 36:16personalized 1. And I don't know, Max, I think
- 36:19my bank account might be decreasing in the near future.
- 36:22Yeah, we gotta figure out when the Philip Forsberg Sweden
- 36:25jerseys are going up in the arena too, cuz those are pretty
- 36:27close to Pred's gold. Yeah, they're gonna be a big
- 36:30hit. The Trey Kronor, A lot of people
- 36:32are gonna be rocking those in Smashville.
- 36:33I think a couple other things we want you to know about coming
- 36:36up. The Predators will be back home
- 36:38after this home stand for a game on Wednesday night, January 29th
- 36:43against the Canucks. That is the only time the
- 36:44Canucks come here this season. So a rematch of the playoffs
- 36:47last year. First game back in Smashville
- 36:50for Kiefer Sherwood and Kevin Lankenen.
- 36:52It is also our Asian and Pacific Islanders Music Heritage Night,
- 36:57our annual celebration to celebrate Lunar New Year on
- 36:59Wednesday, January 29th. You can get a ticket to the game
- 37:03and a voucher for Zoolumination at the Nashville Zoo together by
- 37:07going to nashvillepredators.com/API For
- 37:11more information. When you buy a ticket that way
- 37:14you will also get a Preds API Music Heritage T-shirt with the
- 37:17special Lunar New Year Preds logo.
- 37:20Always great to have the Asian American community represent in
- 37:23Smashville. We know we have many vibrant
- 37:26sects of the Asian American community here in Middle
- 37:28Tennessee, including a lot of great S Asians from many places
- 37:32of the world where Lunar New Year is celebrated.
- 37:34And always great to have them out in Smashville for that
- 37:36night. Looking forward to it.
- 37:38Looking forward to seeing the new logo.
- 37:39I haven't seen it yet, so it was great last year.
- 37:41Yeah, it's so cool. And, and to get to go to the zoo
- 37:45Illumination, yeah, it's like one of my favorite things to do
- 37:47here. Yeah, well, you've got you've
- 37:50got Remy in the house this week. Your daughter.
- 37:52I know. Are you going to take her to Zoo
- 37:53Illumination? I've thought about going tonight
- 37:55because I think it only runs through like halfway through
- 37:57February so. Well, you're running out of
- 37:59time. Maybe you can get a Lunar New
- 38:00Year ticket while you're at it. I might have to Nashville
- 38:03predators.com/API. And then the week after that,
- 38:07another great annual event. The Nash Vegas Casino Night and
- 38:10Auction presented by King Jewelers is on February 4th and
- 38:14there are still spots open for you to come gamble with the
- 38:17Preds players. Not real money, don't worry.
- 38:20But I was there today as the players were signing autographs.
- 38:23There are poker chip pucks that everyone will get and they're
- 38:26really cool. I think we should play a game
- 38:28with these and like light them up and have the poker chip
- 38:31bouncing around on the ice. Like maybe not at the NHL level
- 38:36because we know the guys were complaining once when they put a
- 38:38little tracker in the POC, but like let's get like Milwaukee or
- 38:42somebody to do this. This could be so cool.
- 38:44So February 4th is the Casino Night Nash Vegas event.
- 38:47Go to nashvillepredators.com/nash
- 38:50Vegas for more details. Your entry fee is a donation to
- 38:54the Predators Foundation. As always, it's all going to
- 38:56charitynashvillepredators.com Nash Vegas.
- 38:59That is Nash Vegas with AG at the beginning like the one the
- 39:04only Nash. Could you see this in like a
- 39:06little beer league? Yeah, poker, chip, puck and it
- 39:10was cool. I I was there earlier today as
- 39:12we record this on Friday, January 17th with the great
- 39:15folks at the Preds Foundation. They do a big autograph signing
- 39:19at the beginning of the season. So everything you guys go and
- 39:21buy for a charitable donation, the theme night pucks,
- 39:25everything signed that comes out from the Preds Foundation.
- 39:28There are two big days twice a year when all the players signed
- 39:31everything. Yeah.
- 39:32And to see everything laid out and how much work went into it
- 39:35today, it was exceptional. So big shout out to the
- 39:38community relations crew that runs the Preds foundation.
- 39:41They get generate a ton of money for a ton of worthy causes the
- 39:46many charities of the Preds partner with throughout the
- 39:48season. Every sports team does this.
- 39:51They have a foundation. I don't think anyone does it the
- 39:54same way the Preds do it. Roping in so many great causes
- 39:57and communities and and making legit impactful money for all of
- 40:00them. Yeah, it's really special.
- 40:02Shout out to Rebecca King who heads the CR department for the
- 40:05Nashville Predators and and her team and all the work they do.
- 40:08We'll take a break, come back, get ready for what should be a
- 40:12fun and maybe a little violent game Saturday night.
- 40:15Bridgestone Arena against the Wild and Keith Urban will have
- 40:19his fingerprints all over it. That's coming up next on The
- 40:21POP. She's Gary Hammer from Fred's
- 40:23TV. I'm Max, hers from Fred's radio.
- 40:25You're listening to the Predators official podcast on
- 40:27ESPN 102.5 and 106.3 The Game. This is my theme song for the
- 41:04game on Saturday night against the Minnesota Wild predator's
- 41:08official podcast. I'm Max ers from preds radio
- 41:11with Kara hammer from preds TV. I'm just going to go out and
- 41:15straight up declare it it's Fight Night at Bridgestone Arena
- 41:18Saturday night preds against the Minnesota Wild.
- 41:21The Wild are not happy with us, so I'm I'm going three fights in
- 41:25the first period Hammer. I I don't know, I mean, McCarron
- 41:28dropped the gloves against Pat Barone in the Blackhawks.
- 41:32So I mean, does it go back-to-back Max?
- 41:35Like who are your guys here? Well, we're a little limited.
- 41:38No Cole Smith, no Jeremy Lauzon. Would love to have him for this
- 41:42game. I don't know, maybe just send
- 41:43them out there for a fight. Who knows?
- 41:44Even though they're working their way back from injuries, I
- 41:47think Zach Larue's obviously got to go.
- 41:49He's the impetus for all this. The Wild have been complaining
- 41:52about Larousse hit and the media since the moment it happened,
- 41:55and they brought it back up this week.
- 41:56And it's not really the way you handle it, but yeah.
- 42:02Yeah. So Zach Larousse gonna have to
- 42:04go. I think that one's obvious.
- 42:06And I think Luke Shen and Michael McCarron will also
- 42:08happily oblige. Hey, but you look at Zach
- 42:13Larousse line skating with Tommy Novak and Fedor Svechkoff.
- 42:18I I don't picture either of those guys really ringing the
- 42:21bell. Well, Svetch actually did want
- 42:27to fight. How many games ago was this?
- 42:29Now, the last time the Preds were in Winnipeg, so this was
- 42:32four games ago, a week and a half ago, the game where Luke
- 42:35Evangelista got injured, Yeah, Neil Pyonk hit him and hurt him.
- 42:39And the next shift, Svetchkov went up to Pyonk and was like,
- 42:43hey, I'm, I'm ready to go. And it was a clean hit, but he
- 42:46injured his line mate. He wanted to go, and I think it
- 42:50was going to happen. Even Logan Stanley, who's 6 foot
- 42:528, just kind of hulks in and goes, no, not anymore.
- 42:57Yeah, that was a good business decision by Spatch.
- 43:00Oh my gosh, I'm like thinking of Logan Stanley that like that
- 43:03brings back like a Tanner Juno. Right.
- 43:05And he was the one who fought Alex Carrier for some reason a
- 43:08couple years ago in the most mismatched fight in recent NHL
- 43:12history. And carrier was injured after.
- 43:13That fight, yeah. So Spatch made the right move.
- 43:16But yeah, Saturday night there will be some scores to settle at
- 43:20Bridgestone Arena. Those of you who are headed to
- 43:22the game could be in for a little treat if you're ready for
- 43:24some fights at Bridgestone Arena.
- 43:26And please don't be mad at me if I'm wrong, but I'm I'm going
- 43:29three in the first period. OK.
- 43:31And I think Marc Andre Fleury may try and instigate a goalie
- 43:36fight. He's always wanted to fight.
- 43:39It's his last season. You see, Soros is the same size,
- 43:42but I don't think Juice would fight his goaltending idol.
- 43:46I don't think Juice wants to fight his favorite goalie
- 43:48growing up, Marc Andre Fleury. You know that this is like, this
- 43:51is interesting. I feel like we could have a
- 43:52whole other podcast segment on this of what goalies could you
- 43:55see coming? Obviously you go back in the day
- 43:57and like Patrick Wah and the Red Wings and the goalie fights were
- 44:00happening then. But you know, I could see Pecka.
- 44:03I could see Pecka coming out and being involved in a goalie
- 44:06fight. I don't know if I really could
- 44:07see Sorrows or Ananin. Yeah, we got lovers, not
- 44:11fighters and go right now, but I would love to be proven wrong on
- 44:14that one. I think juice versus flour would
- 44:16be maybe they just go and hug. Yeah, I don't know.
- 44:21I do love gully hugs so. The game will be underscored by
- 44:24the tones of Keith Urban. It is our second of four Music
- 44:27City bobblehead giveaways this season.
- 44:29First, 10,000 fans get a Keith Urban bobblehead.
- 44:32He is holding a catfish. The catfish's head also bobbles,
- 44:35so it is a double bobble. Keith Urban catfish for the 1st
- 44:3910,000 fans. Keith will also be singing the
- 44:41national Anthem. Yeah, Cool.
- 44:42And he will be performing on the band stage at intermission as
- 44:46well. I feel like they play well when
- 44:47he's in the building. Do you?
- 44:48Know. Yeah, yeah, we gotta get the
- 44:50record. What's the Preds record when
- 44:53Keith Urban is in attendance? Maybe he knows.
- 44:55I don't know, let's ask. Him.
- 44:56Yeah. We'll go track him down and find
- 44:58out. All right, we'll finish things
- 44:59up today with our interview of the week on the show.
- 45:01We were just talking about Fedor Svechkov, the 21 year old
- 45:04Russian rookie interviewed by Cara Hammer at the first
- 45:08intermission of the game against the Capitals last Saturday.
- 45:11Last week in your goal against the Flames, you said it was
- 45:13inspired by Alex Ovechkin. What's it like tonight now,
- 45:16playing against your idol? It's exciting, you know, it
- 45:20just, it sounds casual now, you know, like dream and blah, blah,
- 45:25blah. But it's real.
- 45:28I mean, like, I think you saw someone who was like at the top
- 45:32of your profession and it's all like, wow.
- 45:34What are they doing? And to be on ice with one of
- 45:38these guys? Privilege.
- 45:40It's a privilege, yeah. Being out on the ice tonight,
- 45:43you're also playing on a line with Zach LaRue.
- 45:45He's back in the mix. What have you guys talked about
- 45:47with him returning? What is your line expecting?
- 45:51We expected our best game win. So hope we're going to score a
- 45:56couple of goals. We're same age guys so I
- 45:59understand hockey plays pretty similar and we're trying to talk
- 46:04to each other as much as we can. So I hope we're going to win
- 46:09today and we will do our best. You guys were able to maintain
- 46:13some positive zone time that first period.
- 46:15What do you need to do to keep that and carry it over into the
- 46:17second? Just keep get the puck, play
- 46:22right way and just score. Just score the goal.
- 46:28So it's the most important thing in the hockey.
- 46:33You've got to score more than they're going to score to you.
- 46:35So yeah, that's it. All right, score more goals.
- 46:38Thanks so much, guys. I love Smash.
- 46:42Keeps it simple all right. Incredible interview.
- 46:47Yeah, I mean, I score more goals, so it's the most
- 46:51important thing of hockey. I like how to, you know, he
- 46:53brought me into a if you see a girl in the top of her
- 46:55profession, that's how he felt, you know, going against Ovie.
- 46:59And he told you he has never skated with him, right?
- 47:03Yeah, he he'd never been in the same place as him, ever.
- 47:06They're not from the same part of Russia or anything like that,
- 47:08but every Russian hockey player wants to be Alex Ovechkin.
- 47:11Yeah, of course. He's been in the league as long
- 47:12as Fedor Svechkov has been alive.
- 47:15And yeah, his words on Preds radio were the only places I've
- 47:18seen them before are on TV and in my PlayStation.
- 47:23So cool at cool at those guys. Yeah, got to face each other.
- 47:26A lot of fun this week in Smashville.
- 47:28Thanks to everybody who came out to the three games, the Golden
- 47:31Hall events. We'll see you for two more
- 47:33games. Saturday night 7 against the
- 47:34Wild and then Tuesday night at 7 against the Sharks.
- 47:39We're Kara Hammer from Preds TV. I am Max hers from Preds radio.
- 47:43Thanks so much for listening to the predators official podcast
- 47:47here on your exclusive radio home for Nashville Predators
- 47:49hockey. This is ESPN1O25 and one O 6
- 47:54three the game.
