- 0:03Speaker 1: Go big Rent that takes the numbers. The Chaos Hunter.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Austin Dak talking corn Husker football, basketball and everything the
- 0:14Speaker 2: Braska sports.
- 0:15Speaker 1: Welcome to the Return to Glory podcast.
- 0:27Speaker 3: Welcome back Return to Glory and Tontern Dak. This morning.
- 0:33Speaker 4: Today we are going to rank the ten most impactful
- 0:40Speaker 4: players for Nebraska football this fall. And impactful, I guess
- 0:48Speaker 4: for me, is not necessarily mean the best. I'm looking
- 0:52Speaker 4: at the season's swing value, you know, boom and bust.
- 0:57Speaker 4: If the guy goes off, how much better can we be?
- 1:01Speaker 4: And if he if he busts, how much worse do
- 1:04Speaker 4: we become? So the bigger that gap, to me is
- 1:07Speaker 4: is what makes a player more impactful. So Dak does
- 1:11Speaker 4: have his top ten that he put together, and he's
- 1:16Speaker 4: gonna give his entire list first here and I will
- 1:22Speaker 4: give mine at the end. But before Dak, you go
- 1:26Speaker 4: here and give your number ten. What does what's impactful
- 1:28Speaker 4: mean to you?
- 1:32Speaker 1: Like you said, it means, It basically means how you
- 1:36Speaker 1: you're gonna affect the game. How much effect the game? Too?
- 1:41Speaker 1: Is more is more online? What I did like a
- 1:44Speaker 1: Kickers A Kickers on my list. I'm just gonna say
- 1:47Speaker 1: that very impactful of the game. I think not even
- 1:50Speaker 1: close to the best player on the team that that
- 1:52Speaker 1: guy gets shoved in lockers, so name it not em
- 1:55Speaker 1: close to the best player on the team, but very impactfully.
- 1:58Speaker 1: You gotta have a good kicker special team. So that's
- 2:01Speaker 1: what I think is how much you changed the game, all.
- 2:08Speaker 4: Right, And I think I mean by you having kicker
- 2:11Speaker 4: on there in special teams. You weren't there for Tuesday episode,
- 2:15Speaker 4: Roustin and I talked identity. Give me I guess your
- 2:20Speaker 4: take on if you were an offensive or defensive coach,
- 2:25Speaker 4: or a coach at all in general, and you had
- 2:28Speaker 4: to set your identity for your team, what does that
- 2:32Speaker 4: consist of? For Dakota Free tags, the fighting, wacky, dacky Trojans,
- 2:41Speaker 4: Trojans actually screwed that.
- 2:43Speaker 1: I hate you.
- 2:44Speaker 3: I was just gonna say, Lincoln Riley fan over.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Here, Yes, yeah, that guy sucks. Anyway, I didn't. We
- 2:52Speaker 1: are going to be the hardest training team, like to
- 2:57Speaker 1: the point of we're almost we're breaking the rules, like
- 2:59Speaker 1: we're just gonna have the hardst practices of all time.
- 3:01Speaker 1: We are gonna hit people in the mouth. We're gonna
- 3:03Speaker 1: be the toughest team. And if we come out like
- 3:06Speaker 1: nebrask Things Minnesota last year. We're calling the season because
- 3:10Speaker 1: that's the weakest stuff of all time. We're gonna be
- 3:13Speaker 1: the hardest nosed team of all time. Now, identity is that?
- 3:17Speaker 1: Like what I'm gonna call?
- 3:20Speaker 3: I mean, I think what you just said's part of
- 3:22Speaker 3: your identity.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Well, I'm gonna I'm gonna blitz the hell of everybody
- 3:25Speaker 1: on defense.
- 3:26Speaker 3: If you're Blitzer, what offensively are you?
- 3:29Speaker 1: Like?
- 3:29Speaker 3: What are you? What's your offense?
- 3:34Speaker 1: It is for sure, I gotta have a running quarterback
- 3:39Speaker 1: or one that can move like that. I've seen general
- 3:41Speaker 1: all of that has just changed my mind. You've got
- 3:43Speaker 1: to have a guy that can move a quarterback. So
- 3:45Speaker 1: that's one thing. Offensive line is gonna be three and
- 3:49Speaker 1: fifty pounds plus like those are Medpa and Yeah, we're
- 3:53Speaker 1: gonna have We're gonna speed on the outside. So it's
- 3:56Speaker 1: gonna be a little mix of basically just running pass
- 4:01Speaker 1: all right, like fifty to fifty down the middle. All right.
- 4:04Speaker 3: So then let's let's dive in here to your your
- 4:07Speaker 3: top ten. I have mine.
- 4:09Speaker 4: I Like I said, I'll kind of give some challenges
- 4:12Speaker 4: to yours, but uh, go ahead, give me your number ten.
- 4:17Speaker 1: So what what are we doing here? We like going
- 4:20Speaker 1: ten ten verse ten.
- 4:21Speaker 4: Am I just you're gonna give me your whole list,
- 4:24Speaker 4: but you're gonna start ten. You're gonna describe why it's ten.
- 4:27Speaker 4: I'll we'll talk and then I'll move to nine.
- 4:31Speaker 1: All right, I'm gonna go. Corey Marney is my ten.
- 4:37Speaker 1: I think he's the second best wider seer on the team.
- 4:40Speaker 1: I don't think I don't think you canna have that
- 4:45Speaker 1: much impact on the game. He uh on the screen
- 4:49Speaker 1: game big time. But as a wide receiver, you gotta
- 4:52Speaker 1: have the quarterback throwing the ball to you, so it's
- 4:54Speaker 1: gotta be good pass to you. So I don't think
- 4:56Speaker 1: my receivers are that like that great, and I don't
- 4:59Speaker 1: think he's the best why s on team. So that's
- 5:00Speaker 1: why I means tenth.
- 5:02Speaker 4: Yeah, I think his explosiveness and all my stuff, I'm
- 5:06Speaker 4: really going back to the boom and bust. I think
- 5:09Speaker 4: he's one that we've seen kind of the boom already
- 5:13Speaker 4: for him. Obviously could take another step. I don't know
- 5:19Speaker 4: that his floors too low, which I think is a
- 5:22Speaker 4: good thing. So he's always going to be useful, but
- 5:25Speaker 4: it's never gonna like really tack it up. But I
- 5:27Speaker 4: do think he's impactful. Yeah, so I he is on
- 5:30Speaker 4: my list, So ho about number nine?
- 5:33Speaker 1: Number nine after that? And an Isaiah Hunter. I think
- 5:35Speaker 1: he is the best wife. She run the team. So
- 5:37Speaker 1: it's kind of like same with Barney there. If you
- 5:39Speaker 1: have a quarterback, throwst he so you for you to
- 5:42Speaker 1: be impactly Gonta have a good quarterback. So I think
- 5:45Speaker 1: last year he surprised everybody out of all of us.
- 5:48Speaker 1: I've I've rewatched on his clips. He was so explosive
- 5:51Speaker 1: last year, I think, especially deep all this year at Clander,
- 5:56Speaker 1: I think he's gonna be great.
- 6:00Speaker 4: Yeah, I think for for him, he also made my list.
- 6:05Speaker 4: He's him and him and Jaquori. I think both of them,
- 6:09Speaker 4: if whoever becomes the number one, if they're battling for
- 6:11Speaker 4: that number one receiver spot, I think that's a good
- 6:15Speaker 4: thing because they're both having really good good years. So
- 6:18Speaker 4: uh ye for me impactful? Why for both of these
- 6:23Speaker 4: guys on third and eight? You know which one of
- 6:27Speaker 4: these is our go to guys? And if we have
- 6:29Speaker 4: two of them, I think that even is better if
- 6:33Speaker 4: it both can be good, so they can both get
- 6:34Speaker 4: open and and both be go to guys on third
- 6:37Speaker 4: and eight. That's really good and I think that makes
- 6:38Speaker 4: them very impactful. And hopefully we're not in a whole
- 6:41Speaker 4: lot of third and eighths, but you know we're gonna be.
- 6:43Speaker 1: So now, do you agree that nasaiahs the number one
- 6:47Speaker 1: Barney number two?
- 6:48Speaker 3: I don't.
- 6:49Speaker 4: I mean, I'm I think they both could be. I
- 6:52Speaker 4: don't know, I don't. I don't have a clear they're
- 6:54Speaker 4: they're different receivers or different type of receivers too, which
- 6:57Speaker 4: I think is okay.
- 6:58Speaker 3: So yeah, I don't.
- 7:01Speaker 4: I think he's the go to outside guy and Jaquori's
- 7:04Speaker 4: maybe the go to slot kind of guy, which is
- 7:06Speaker 4: good to.
- 7:06Speaker 3: Have in one of each.
- 7:10Speaker 1: All right, so let's move on here. I have next up,
- 7:17Speaker 1: Lander Myers slash tight End Room. I've been hearing a
- 7:19Speaker 1: lot which this guy is. We haven't talking about this guy.
- 7:22Speaker 1: This guy's an idiot. But anyway, Scott Saderfield apparently is
- 7:24Speaker 1: not happy with the tight end room outside of London.
- 7:27Speaker 1: My I guess there's not much behind him. So I
- 7:29Speaker 1: think I think tight ends are next on the list
- 7:33Speaker 1: because they can block to not only do they pass catch,
- 7:36Speaker 1: but I guess why I see there's block too, but
- 7:37Speaker 1: tight ends you need more blocking to I think if
- 7:40Speaker 1: Lennon amer can just stay healthy, he's dang good tight end.
- 7:44Speaker 1: So I have him next plus the tight end room.
- 7:48Speaker 3: Marcus Sadderfield, you said, Scott Saderfield.
- 7:51Speaker 1: Marcus Saderfield, Uh, I.
- 7:55Speaker 3: Think Luke is.
- 7:59Speaker 4: To me, And it's similar to the receiver receivers on
- 8:03Speaker 4: the receiving side of things. It all depends on how
- 8:08Speaker 4: Dana uses the tight ends on the offensive side. I
- 8:13Speaker 4: like that gets thrown out there every year. You know,
- 8:18Speaker 4: if if we're utilizing our tight ends, Luke could go.
- 8:22Speaker 4: He could become even more impactful and move way up
- 8:25Speaker 4: on this list if that's part of our scheme and identity.
- 8:28Speaker 4: If we don't, I think he falls and probably isn't
- 8:30Speaker 4: even on it because tight ends then.
- 8:31Speaker 3: Become you know, more of a blocker and and everything.
- 8:35Speaker 4: So I like he's definitely our blocking tight end versus
- 8:39Speaker 4: probably our receiving but he has the ability to go
- 8:41Speaker 4: out and catch passes too, So like he's he's one
- 8:44Speaker 4: that's hard for me. Like, he could be very impactful.
- 8:47Speaker 4: I guess so if if you're going boom and bust,
- 8:50Speaker 4: he probably is big in that category.
- 8:53Speaker 3: But it's all on how we use him.
- 8:55Speaker 1: For some for some reason too, Nebraska just has not
- 8:57Speaker 1: been using the tight end in the passing game very much.
- 8:59Speaker 1: And I don't get it, and.
- 9:00Speaker 3: I don't think it's a Nebraska thing. I think think.
- 9:02Speaker 4: I mean, look at tight ends across the board. It's
- 9:05Speaker 4: just as more teams go away from the I don't
- 9:10Speaker 4: know the pro style play action under center stuff, tight
- 9:15Speaker 4: ends don't get used as much.
- 9:17Speaker 3: Some teams still use them, but I don't know.
- 9:19Speaker 4: To me, they're becoming less and less or not extinct
- 9:22Speaker 4: like the fullback.
- 9:24Speaker 1: But yeah, I think I think teams are starting to
- 9:27Speaker 1: using more as block blocking too, Like that's big to
- 9:30Speaker 1: have a good blocking tight end.
- 9:32Speaker 3: Number seven for you.
- 9:35Speaker 1: Let's go, so move the defense here. Andrew Marshall. He's
- 9:42Speaker 1: supposed to be this lockdown form this year. Last year
- 9:44Speaker 1: he was very good at corner. I think the second
- 9:48Speaker 1: ary is gonna be huge this here. Now it's n
- 9:50Speaker 1: as big as the next guy on here, because I
- 9:51Speaker 1: think the Big ten is more of a running league.
- 9:53Speaker 1: But to have a good secondary is huge. You got
- 9:56Speaker 1: to be able to stop that. There was what he
- 9:59Speaker 1: was at TUN two years ago. That secondary was lockdown
- 10:03Speaker 1: and and they haven't had pressure on quarterback in a while,
- 10:05Speaker 1: which is why next down there. But I think for
- 10:08Speaker 1: him he has to lead that team. If not the
- 10:11Speaker 1: sign he's gonna be a mass.
- 10:13Speaker 3: Yeah, he made my list as well.
- 10:15Speaker 4: He I think is our number one corner and having
- 10:21Speaker 4: one of those guys, I think is pretty important for
- 10:24Speaker 4: a defense. For a defense when you're playing a team
- 10:27Speaker 4: that has a stut receiver.
- 10:29Speaker 3: We've had moments in the past.
- 10:31Speaker 1: Where you're you're.
- 10:34Speaker 4: Starting, you're not you're really all American receiver on the
- 10:36Speaker 4: opposite side, and doesn't have to be all American. But
- 10:39Speaker 4: even for teams like Rutgers in Maryland, when they have
- 10:41Speaker 4: a really good guy, the guy still tends to get
- 10:45Speaker 4: his hundred yards if you have a corner that you
- 10:47Speaker 4: can lock him up with, and that's part of your
- 10:49Speaker 4: strategy is to you know, say, hey, one on one,
- 10:51Speaker 4: we're taking our shot. And Andrew Marshall can become that guy.
- 10:55Speaker 4: He becomes very, very very impactful in a positive way.
- 10:59Speaker 4: If he's not to do that, he becomes irrelevant. If
- 11:03Speaker 4: we don't have a corner that can do that, and
- 11:04Speaker 4: then you're you're more scheming up your options on the
- 11:08Speaker 4: outside so like if teams don't throw at him, I
- 11:13Speaker 4: guess you could argue that's also very impactful because you're
- 11:15Speaker 4: taking you're taking an option away because he's that good.
- 11:19Speaker 4: So that's the other I guess angle to consider when
- 11:22Speaker 4: you're talking corners and you're talking to Andrew Marshall.
- 11:25Speaker 1: So number six, next guy, that's being poppful, I think,
- 11:31Speaker 1: especially with his four four two five defense. I think
- 11:36Speaker 1: I think he's going to be huge for him. They
- 11:38Speaker 1: got to get pressure on the quarterback. Last year they
- 11:40Speaker 1: had none, and that's quarterbacks had all day. They're back
- 11:44Speaker 1: there freaking I slipped my mind with the iOS quarterbacks
- 11:47Speaker 1: name last year. That guy should not be to light
- 11:49Speaker 1: you up. But he's had all dates. So when you
- 11:50Speaker 1: have all days, that's what happens to your secondary. If
- 11:54Speaker 1: d Lion can't get pressure, the secondary falls apart. So
- 11:57Speaker 1: that's that's why i've him next.
- 12:00Speaker 4: He's pretty This guy's pretty high on my list. He's
- 12:05Speaker 4: impopp is one that last year, like, I don't know,
- 12:07Speaker 4: he was quiet the whole year, and I don't know
- 12:09Speaker 4: if that's I don't know if that's a lack of
- 12:12Speaker 4: you know, part of the three three five. I think
- 12:15Speaker 4: he's very impactful in the middle, and having a guy
- 12:18Speaker 4: like that, I think having a rush end is also
- 12:21Speaker 4: just as important and impactful.
- 12:23Speaker 3: But Van Poppo is very high on my list.
- 12:25Speaker 4: He's uh, he's the one that's gonna be plugging up
- 12:29Speaker 4: a lot of the runs inside hopefully uh and and
- 12:32Speaker 4: have that capability if he's a bust that changes a
- 12:38Speaker 4: lot of what we're going to do defensively to manufacture
- 12:43Speaker 4: disruption with our pressure. So yeah, he's he's to me
- 12:48Speaker 4: a very important piece of our defense and very impactful.
- 12:52Speaker 1: So number five, is it kind of is back too?
- 12:57Speaker 1: Is it kind of like approve it to him too
- 12:59Speaker 1: on your list because like you said, last year a.
- 13:01Speaker 4: Little bit, Yeah, I mean, I mean I think I
- 13:03Speaker 4: think this is this is his year to step up
- 13:05Speaker 4: and he knows it. Last year maybe he was a
- 13:06Speaker 4: little bit who's gonna do this? This is it's this,
- 13:08Speaker 4: this is his year?
- 13:10Speaker 1: Mm hm. Yeah. He's a clear number one that d
- 13:12Speaker 1: Line needs to step up, all right. Next Mikai Nelson's
- 13:16Speaker 1: slack running back room. I don't think it matters who
- 13:19Speaker 1: you have out there. Just have a guy that you
- 13:22Speaker 1: know it's gonna be number one that can especially with
- 13:26Speaker 1: Calander and now I think I think they're gonna have
- 13:29Speaker 1: a lot of pass catching as at the renom exosition.
- 13:31Speaker 1: Just a guy that can catch the freaking ball block
- 13:34Speaker 1: that's another big one block and the guy that just
- 13:39Speaker 1: pick up good five yards and you need it.
- 13:42Speaker 3: So I'm glad you phrased it this way too.
- 13:45Speaker 4: With it being the running back room, I felt a
- 13:50Speaker 4: little bit it's cheating to do that because I do
- 13:54Speaker 4: think that the boom, obviously is that one guy.
- 13:59Speaker 3: Or multiple guys. I guess it could be multiple.
- 14:01Speaker 4: Guys separates himself and becomes impactful like Emma Johnson did
- 14:04Speaker 4: last year in a way that nobody really saw coming. Yeah,
- 14:09Speaker 4: I I I guess I have Mosey Slash Nelson was
- 14:15Speaker 4: what I put there. But I think Jamal Rules the
- 14:17Speaker 4: other guy that you throw in that list, and Quentin
- 14:20Speaker 4: Eves is the one that nobody's talking about. Like I
- 14:22Speaker 4: think all those guys no lo no Tikey Hayes anymore.
- 14:27Speaker 4: But like I think they could be very impactful in
- 14:31Speaker 4: a way that if you don't have any and they're
- 14:36Speaker 4: just become a committee, it's not it's not the end
- 14:37Speaker 4: of the world. But if one guy really breaks out
- 14:42Speaker 4: and gets developed.
- 14:44Speaker 3: Like Emmett did. Man like you you now you got it.
- 14:48Speaker 4: Now you've got a really good back again that you
- 14:50Speaker 4: got to deal with. Adding with a mobile quarterback, with
- 14:53Speaker 4: some veteran guys outside, with an experienced offensive line, your
- 14:56Speaker 4: offense becomes can become pretty potent.
- 14:59Speaker 1: So mm hmm. Number four for you, I've got kicker
- 15:04Speaker 1: slash special teams. Like I said earlier, that can change
- 15:09Speaker 1: the game so much like who gives a crapy Robbins
- 15:12Speaker 1: against the twenty? That kicker's got to make that kick.
- 15:14Speaker 1: There's so many, so many times Nebraska saw they've lost
- 15:18Speaker 1: off special teams. It's it's not what a lot of
- 15:21Speaker 1: people think about in the game, but it's huge. Go
- 15:23Speaker 1: out there and make that freaking kick.
- 15:28Speaker 4: Yeah. That another one that I struggled to like nail
- 15:33Speaker 4: down a single player because you want to talk about
- 15:35Speaker 4: impactful and luckily last year things were better.
- 15:39Speaker 3: But just take a long snapper if you can't snap
- 15:42Speaker 3: the ball.
- 15:43Speaker 4: Yeah, that like punt and kicking whatever, that's very impactful
- 15:48Speaker 4: in a negative way.
- 15:49Speaker 3: Now your your reward impactful is nothing, but the bust is.
- 15:58Speaker 4: So we obviously know that we shouldn't have to talk
- 16:01Speaker 4: about that, but we we we've seen that.
- 16:02Speaker 3: So I who would you if you.
- 16:06Speaker 4: Had to pick one kicker or punter, what's which one.
- 16:11Speaker 4: I'm not saying you have.
- 16:11Speaker 1: To do it for your list, but oh man, it
- 16:16Speaker 1: should be kicker. But man, we've sat some bad punting too,
- 16:19Speaker 1: like real bad punt just off the shank. If you
- 16:22Speaker 1: shank a bad pun it's horrible. I'd go kicker.
- 16:29Speaker 4: Is yeah, on that list, I would agree because if
- 16:34Speaker 4: you have a kicker that can make a I don't
- 16:36Speaker 4: know if we do your kicker that once you get
- 16:39Speaker 4: inside inside fifty you feel pretty safe that you can
- 16:43Speaker 4: make a field goal.
- 16:44Speaker 3: That's very impactful.
- 16:46Speaker 4: From a from a strategy scheme standpoint with, you know,
- 16:50Speaker 4: with potential to kick a fifty five yard and it
- 16:52Speaker 4: can go in. Now we even had that in a while,
- 16:54Speaker 4: But I I agree that that. I mean, that's points
- 16:57Speaker 4: punting is important to you can't score off a punty.
- 17:02Speaker 4: So anyways, number already at number.
- 17:05Speaker 1: Four or three three, I think I've done a gootwol.
- 17:09Speaker 1: It sounds like that he won the position. I think
- 17:15Speaker 1: if he can stay healthy to last year. Last year,
- 17:17Speaker 1: I don't think he was horrific at blocking. I mean
- 17:21Speaker 1: the offensive Liman. But that guy we've heard all this
- 17:25Speaker 1: type about this offensive line is so great. You know
- 17:27Speaker 1: what this is done to prove it? Let's see it.
- 17:29Speaker 1: They're kind of bringing a good quarterback. This guy. It's now.
- 17:35Speaker 1: I don't know if you hear other things, but it
- 17:36Speaker 1: sounds like he won the position for his battle. I
- 17:39Speaker 1: don't so yeah, put him on there, freaking go out
- 17:43Speaker 1: there and just block prove it this year.
- 17:46Speaker 4: It's interesting that out of all positions, you didn't even
- 17:49Speaker 4: reference the entire offensive line here, which I wasn't gonna
- 17:53Speaker 4: allow that piece. Interesting, that's who the guy you picked.
- 17:58Speaker 4: I guess if Gatula's breakout stud could be very impactful
- 18:09Speaker 4: to me, I don't know that his bust is like
- 18:13Speaker 4: very impactful. But yeah, I'll when I get to my list,
- 18:19Speaker 4: I'll talk a little more about the offensive line.
- 18:21Speaker 3: Number two for you.
- 18:23Speaker 1: Uh, Prichard, This guy, this guy, if he just can
- 18:28Speaker 1: control the stupid freaking penalties. I thought last year he
- 18:32Speaker 1: was a really good blocker actually for when towards the
- 18:36Speaker 1: end of the year he kind of he fixed his
- 18:38Speaker 1: stupid pendeties and stuff, like we all remember the one
- 18:40Speaker 1: against Cincinnati where he freaking jumped off or he did
- 18:43Speaker 1: a false start on the goal line there that was stupid.
- 18:46Speaker 1: But I think I think he's one of our better
- 18:48Speaker 1: ones last year. So he's another year under the system.
- 18:51Speaker 1: You're blocking for the quarterbacks, blank set. That's another big
- 18:54Speaker 1: thing that will prevent injuries if if you do your job,
- 18:59Speaker 1: so do your job pretty sure. Delete those stupid penalty
- 19:02Speaker 1: which is what happened at Bama two for him, that's
- 19:04Speaker 1: kind of why he didn't play there. So I think
- 19:07Speaker 1: he gets older, he'll stop these freaking stupid, stupid mistakes
- 19:11Speaker 1: he does, and I think he's a great blocker outside.
- 19:14Speaker 4: That, I'm assuming you're talking about Elijah Pritchett Fortured.
- 19:22Speaker 3: Okay, number one.
- 19:25Speaker 1: A Philandria easily that's I mean, he's if he sucks,
- 19:32Speaker 1: the team sucks, Like it comes down to that. We
- 19:34Speaker 1: we've saw some bad quarterback players over the years, the
- 19:37Speaker 1: year with Heiner Carberg and all that. Yeah, So basically,
- 19:40Speaker 1: if he is another guy get rid of the stupid mistakes,
- 19:44Speaker 1: and I think he's gonna be actually very dynamic a quarterback.
- 19:47Speaker 1: If he just gets does not throw, We're gonna see
- 19:50Speaker 1: some terrible pays from me. He's a gun slayer. He's
- 19:52Speaker 1: gonna throw it in tight spots. I love that he
- 19:54Speaker 1: can move. Now now I saw it practice in practicing
- 19:57Speaker 1: the option. That's another one where that could be just
- 19:59Speaker 1: a bunch of coming out because I've saw that many years.
- 20:02Speaker 1: But run that freaking option. This guy can move. He
- 20:05Speaker 1: doesn't seem like he gets he's that injury brone either,
- 20:08Speaker 1: So maybe they don't be so worried about him, like
- 20:11Speaker 1: with Martinez Taylor or not Taylor Asian Martinez, they were
- 20:15Speaker 1: just worried about him all time, running and stuff, especially
- 20:18Speaker 1: at the first year. Let this guy run, he gets hurt,
- 20:21Speaker 1: gets hurt. I guess I don't care.
- 20:24Speaker 4: Yeah, I think you're Calandria number one. Did if you
- 20:29Speaker 4: if you're asking anybody to make a list, he's probably
- 20:31Speaker 4: your quarterback in general. But his your impact of the
- 20:34Speaker 4: game that at that position is just it's obvious. Uh,
- 20:38Speaker 4: no matter what kind of player you are and what
- 20:40Speaker 4: type of player you are, it's it's very obvious.
- 20:42Speaker 1: So I agree.
- 20:44Speaker 4: I think we will talk obviously a lot about kalandrihood
- 20:47Speaker 4: throughout the year, and he's he's you want to talk
- 20:50Speaker 4: about boom and bust on on for my list. I mean,
- 20:54Speaker 4: he's the definition of that from what he's done in
- 20:57Speaker 4: this past stop.
- 20:58Speaker 3: So I'm with the like he's my number one as well.
- 21:02Speaker 1: If you don't. If your team that doesn't have him
- 21:03Speaker 1: as your number one, you're in for a long year.
- 21:05Speaker 4: And again, it's not just him too, it's it's it's
- 21:10Speaker 4: quarterback in general.
- 21:11Speaker 3: That's just the most impactful position.
- 21:12Speaker 4: Yeah, quarter unless you're Iowa, which has an identity of
- 21:17Speaker 4: a very unique identity that's won them a lot of
- 21:19Speaker 4: games that maybe maybe Iowa is the one that you
- 21:21Speaker 4: would argue is not.
- 21:22Speaker 3: The most impactful.
- 21:23Speaker 4: But I guess for most teams, you know, quarterbacks number one,
- 21:26Speaker 4: regardless of who you are. So here's my list. I'll
- 21:30Speaker 4: actually start in number one since we ended there. I
- 21:32Speaker 4: have Clandry at one. I have Justin Evans at two
- 21:38Speaker 4: on the offensive line, which similar to kind of what
- 21:40Speaker 4: you said, I he is my only offensive lineman on
- 21:43Speaker 4: this list.
- 21:45Speaker 3: I just think that.
- 21:45Speaker 4: Your center's your your core, it's your your leader, it's
- 21:50Speaker 4: your quarterback of your offensive line. It's the guy making
- 21:53Speaker 4: a lot of the calls and reads up front. And
- 21:56Speaker 4: he's he's you know, the other guys are veterans too,
- 21:59Speaker 4: but he's he is the veteran, Nebraska veteran, so I
- 22:03Speaker 4: have him at number two.
- 22:05Speaker 3: I did put Van Poppel.
- 22:08Speaker 4: At three, with Wanery at four closely following, just because
- 22:13Speaker 4: I think the defensive line is is very important and
- 22:16Speaker 4: I think Oneery has the potential and shout out Jackson
- 22:20Speaker 4: Weeks to getting me buying on this take. But he's
- 22:23Speaker 4: he's the guy that if he is he if he
- 22:26Speaker 4: booms and goes off this year in this in this
- 22:30Speaker 4: four man front, Like you want to talk about changing
- 22:33Speaker 4: a game, d MS can do that, and I'm I'm
- 22:37Speaker 4: it's a little bit more of a hope impactful.
- 22:39Speaker 3: But I think he has capabilities there of doing that.
- 22:43Speaker 3: At five, I have the running back.
- 22:50Speaker 4: Room slash whatever Mosey and Makai Nelson kind of in
- 22:56Speaker 4: there together. At I have Owen Chambaliss, which is my
- 23:06Speaker 4: middle linebacker quarterback of the defense. Knows the system that
- 23:17Speaker 4: Rob ar just trying to run here from San Diego State.
- 23:20Speaker 4: I think he's a very big piece of this and
- 23:23Speaker 4: has the potential to impact. I wanted to be like
- 23:25Speaker 4: a Levante David, Like that's the kind of guy I'm
- 23:27Speaker 4: thinking of when I think of Owen Chambliss and if
- 23:30Speaker 4: he can do that. Leavonte David was a playmaker, so
- 23:34Speaker 4: I have him at six. At seven, I put our kicker,
- 23:41Speaker 4: and I think that for our reason said that's a
- 23:47Speaker 4: very important position can impact the game in a big way.
- 23:52Speaker 3: At eight, I have Isaiah Hunter.
- 23:57Speaker 4: At nine, I have I guess I and Isaiah Hunter
- 24:00Speaker 4: and Jacory Barney kind of.
- 24:01Speaker 1: Eight together as that receiver.
- 24:04Speaker 4: Spot nine, I have Andrew Marshall as you mentioned. At ten,
- 24:10Speaker 4: I have Luke Lindenmeyer as we mentioned before too. So
- 24:14Speaker 4: our list has had a lot of the same pieces.
- 24:16Speaker 1: I mean, I think I have the same idea as too,
- 24:20Speaker 1: like where we had everybody impactful wise.
- 24:24Speaker 3: First time I'm really gonna agree with you on anything.
- 24:28Speaker 1: Uh huh.
- 24:29Speaker 4: So last question here to end the show, Dak forget
- 24:32Speaker 4: whatever we just said about our ranking, So I'm not
- 24:35Speaker 4: letting you pick Flandria. You can guarantee that one other
- 24:40Speaker 4: Nebraska player, any of any of the guys you mentioned,
- 24:43Speaker 4: or it can be somebody I guess not in your
- 24:44Speaker 4: impactful list, which would be wild, but they are first
- 24:48Speaker 4: team All Big Ten because of what they did for
- 24:50Speaker 4: this season.
- 24:52Speaker 3: Who is that guy?
- 24:54Speaker 1: Mm hmmm, I would say Isaiah Hunter. I think he's
- 25:01Speaker 1: gonna have a great year, Like I think him and
- 25:06Speaker 1: Landy are going to be dynamic as hell, like great, great,
- 25:10Speaker 1: great year.
- 25:14Speaker 3: Okay, Like I I won't agree with you on that.
- 25:17Speaker 4: I just I think that Isaiah and Jacori are gonna
- 25:20Speaker 4: just kind of splits a lot of the stats and
- 25:23Speaker 4: the production on the passing And I personally hope and
- 25:27Speaker 4: I don't think that our passing game is going to
- 25:30Speaker 4: be I mean, it's gonna be definitely a part of it,
- 25:33Speaker 4: but I I just don't know what we're gonna put
- 25:35Speaker 4: up the numbers and the production to have a guy
- 25:37Speaker 4: like that. The same thing for the running backs, Like,
- 25:41Speaker 4: I just don't think we're going to have like an
- 25:43Speaker 4: Emma Johnson breakout either, because I think it's be more
- 25:46Speaker 4: of a committee this year.
- 25:49Speaker 3: My pick I and this is hope, But I'm let
- 25:55Speaker 3: me just guess.
- 25:57Speaker 1: Justin Evans, I.
- 25:59Speaker 3: Thought about him.
- 26:00Speaker 4: I thought maybe that was a cop out answer, but yeah,
- 26:03Speaker 4: I'm going Riley van Poppel if he can really take that,
- 26:09Speaker 4: you know, become a stud and become a big ten
- 26:14Speaker 4: and I think he has he has that underlying potential.
- 26:17Speaker 3: If if that can go, that can be really really good.
- 26:19Speaker 4: And from the defensive side being really good along the
- 26:22Speaker 4: line of scrimmage. It changes a lot more than just
- 26:25Speaker 4: a number of sacks or tackles for losses. It's it's
- 26:28Speaker 4: it's a big part of the game when you're in
- 26:30Speaker 4: the middle of that defense on the line of scrimmage
- 26:33Speaker 4: and can disrupt some things.
- 26:34Speaker 3: So I guess last close here, Nebraska.
- 26:40Speaker 4: I I really I don't think we need ten We
- 26:43Speaker 4: don't need ten superstars, boom players, be nice, but we
- 26:47Speaker 4: need we just need guys that can make plays and
- 26:49Speaker 4: be difference makers I think on the field. And that's
- 26:51Speaker 4: what uh you know you heard to say a lot
- 26:54Speaker 4: with these impactful players. You know who has who has
- 26:58Speaker 4: the ability to change what this team looks like on
- 27:01Speaker 4: a given Saturday or Friday for playing on Friday night,
- 27:05Speaker 4: and and those are the guys that are are why
- 27:08Speaker 4: they're on this list and and have the ability to
- 27:11Speaker 4: impact the game.
- 27:11Speaker 3: So anything else from you, Dak, you got for us.
- 27:17Speaker 1: Through We're getting closer and closer. Wait, yes we are.
- 27:22Speaker 3: Tomorrow. Austin's going to lead us in a volleyball preview
- 27:27Speaker 3: on Friday.
- 27:28Speaker 4: And I told Dak, I said, I don't I just
- 27:31Speaker 4: don't have a whole lot of takes and everything for it.
- 27:33Speaker 4: But Austin will be Austin will be leading us in
- 27:38Speaker 4: some volleyball talk on Friday morning.
- 27:40Speaker 1: So are we number one? That's about all I got,
- 27:46Speaker 1: all right, Go be Grid, Go be Grid, says.
- 27:51Speaker 2: The mission stays the Memorial Stadium, the PBA days, Ball Saturdays,
- 27:56Speaker 2: basketball nights, every story, chasing red, recruiting buzz, big time commits,

- 28:08Speaker 3: The road to glories never fall.
