Transcript
- Lucas: Luna, ready to pick up where we left off? Luna: Definitely! I've been practicing my colors from last time. ቡናማ and ሮዝ are stuck in my head now. Lucas: Love that. And today, let's do a quick review of body parts — specifically, two we've covered before: እጅ and አይን. Luna: Oh, hand and eye! I remember those. Let me try: እጅ is hand, and አይን is eye. Lucas: Exactly. You nailed it. Let's say them together. እጅ. Luna: እጅ. Lucas: አይን. Luna: አይን. Lucas: Great. Now, we can also say 'my hand' — that's እጄ. And 'my eye' — አይኔ. Luna: So እጄ is my hand, and አይኔ is my eye. Let me practice: እጄ, አይኔ. Lucas: Perfect. Now let's use them in a sentence. If you want to say 'I saw my hand', you'd say እጄን አየሁ. Luna: እጄን አየሁ. That means 'I saw my hand'? Lucas: Exactly. And if you want to say 'I touched my eye', it's አይኔን ጨበጥኩ. Luna: አይኔን ጨበጥኩ. That's a good one. I'll remember that. Lucas: Let's do a quick drill. I'll say the English, you say the Amharic. Hand? Luna: እጅ. Lucas: Eye? Luna: አይን. Lucas: My hand? Luna: እጄ. Lucas: My eye? Luna: አይኔ. Lucas: I saw my hand? Luna: እጄን አየሁ. Lucas: I touched my eye? Luna: አይኔን ጨበጥኩ. Oh, that felt good! Lucas: You're doing great. And you know, if Fexingo has been helping you make actual progress with Amharic like this, we'd love your support. A couple of dollars a month is genuinely what keeps these going — buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. Luna: Yeah, it really makes a difference. We're so grateful for everyone who helps keep the show ad-free. Lucas: Now, let's practice one more time. I want you to point to your hand and say እጄ. Luna: Points to hand. እጄ! Lucas: Now point to your eye and say አይኔ. Luna: Points to eye. አይኔ! Lucas: Excellent. See how natural that feels? You can use these anywhere. Luna: Definitely. I'm going to practice saying እጄ and አይኔ all day. Lucas: Do it. And next time, we'll add a couple more body parts. But for now, review these and you'll be solid. Luna: Sounds good. Thanks, Lucas! Lucas: You bet. Keep practicing, and we'll see you in the next episode.
