SPEAKER_03: This episode I got to sit down with John Hart, who is the head coach and founder of uh Troy City Women's Football Club, who competes in the UWS.
0:13
SPEAKER_03: And he is also the head trainer and owner of John Hartrain.
0:20
SPEAKER_03: What I love about this episode is that I learned what goes into creating a UWS team.
0:28
SPEAKER_03: And for those of you that don't know what UWS is, is a semi-professional women's sector league that it's really tailored towards the college player.
0:41
SPEAKER_03: It's like their summer season.
0:43
SPEAKER_03: There's a lot of people out there that believe that every club should have a protein for the younger players to do it.
0:52
SPEAKER_03: And this is an episode where it shows that anybody can do it.
1:01
SPEAKER_03: And committed to it.
1:14
SPEAKER_03: So please subscribe.
1:17
SPEAKER_03: Share it to anybody that can benefit.
1:20
SPEAKER_03: Um let me know.
1:22
SPEAKER_03: Comment.
1:23
SPEAKER_03: Please comment what you liked.
1:25
SPEAKER_03: Uh anything that stood out to you about the episode, and then I can go and and clip it up for our social media platforms.
1:35
SPEAKER_03: So enjoy.
1:37
SPEAKER_03: I hate soccer.
1:38
SPEAKER_00: I was a technical trainer for them.
1:40
SPEAKER_03: Oh, you were?
1:41
SPEAKER_00: A little bit in the winter time, yeah.
1:43
SPEAKER_00: They asked me to come in and do some trainings for them.
1:46
SPEAKER_03: And that facility, I mean, that's just I've been on this kick lately.
1:50
SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
1:51
SPEAKER_03: You know, I think everybody should have their own facility, and I don't understand the pushback of the obsession with 11v11.
2:00
SPEAKER_03: And and well, we have to buy the land.
2:04
unknown: Yeah.
2:04
SPEAKER_03: We have to build the building.
2:06
SPEAKER_03: No, you don't.
2:07
SPEAKER_03: You don't have to do any of that.
2:08
SPEAKER_03: I mean, you just convert.
2:10
SPEAKER_03: I'm sure this was something else.
2:11
SPEAKER_03: What was this?
2:12
SPEAKER_00: I do not know what it was beforehand.
2:14
SPEAKER_00: Um, I I was after they had this all laid out and turf in and everything else, so I don't know what it was before.
2:22
SPEAKER_00: Right.
2:23
SPEAKER_00: I mean, but I I know I think they probably built this on because that was probably a main thing, and then you can tell by oh yeah, you can tell by that door.
2:33
SPEAKER_00: That door right there.
2:33
SPEAKER_00: That was like a back door there.
2:35
SPEAKER_00: So they they kind of built this on as an addition, but um but the the previous owners um well the owners were in here for five years.
2:44
SPEAKER_00: Uh was five star sports and training.
2:46
SPEAKER_03: Okay, so it's been a sports performance or sports something for a while.
2:51
SPEAKER_00: And then this past spring, um Paul Thomas from MDA, Michigan Development Academy.
2:57
SPEAKER_03: And is he still is Paul Thomas the director of the state?
3:03
SPEAKER_03: The director of coaching of the state?
3:04
SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
3:05
SPEAKER_00: I know he's the executive director of MDA.
3:08
SPEAKER_00: MDA.
3:09
SPEAKER_00: And so he took over this building.
3:11
SPEAKER_00: So now he's Pinnacle Performance is now.
3:15
SPEAKER_00: That's MD.
3:15
SPEAKER_00: This is MDA's place?
3:17
SPEAKER_00: Well, with a little caveat.
3:20
SPEAKER_00: He he he he has taken it over.
3:22
SPEAKER_00: Okay.
3:23
SPEAKER_00: He has not used it extensively for MDA.
3:26
SPEAKER_00: Okay.
3:27
SPEAKER_00: But you know, there's talks of getting more of the MDA, you know, teams in here and things like that.
3:33
SPEAKER_00: So it's like a little conflict of interest a little bit.
3:36
SPEAKER_00: He wanted to use this uh for the first year to get it going.
3:39
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
3:40
SPEAKER_00: Uh with the same type of programming that's been involved with baseball and uh some of the other club teams that were in here.
3:47
SPEAKER_00: So but then uh so you know we'll see what happens this next year and the second year to see how they want to use it.
3:54
SPEAKER_00: And um I'm connected with them um being their uh technical trainer for them coming up in the in the fall.
4:01
SPEAKER_00: Okay in this next year.
4:03
SPEAKER_00: So we've had a really good connection um talking with him about that, and and then we have a showcase team that we were trying to get going with the girls, a tournament team concept.
4:13
SPEAKER_00: Right.
4:13
SPEAKER_00: I started that with the boys when my two boys were at Athens, Troy Athens, uh back in 2000, I know.
4:20
SPEAKER_00: Todd.
4:21
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, Todd Hugh.
4:22
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
4:23
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, Todd.
4:24
SPEAKER_00: Um he uh That's funny back in 2012 when my first son was there, um I coached all my kids growing up through you know rec league.
4:35
SPEAKER_00: They never play club.
4:36
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and so when I got to high school, it was like, okay, what do we do with them now?
4:39
SPEAKER_00: What do I do?
4:40
SPEAKER_00: I'm not I don't I don't have the money out of my pocket to pay for two kids to travel.
4:45
SPEAKER_00: And so um what do I do?
4:47
SPEAKER_00: It's either you play travel during high school season or or w what's there for them, you know, like kind of the off-season type deal.
4:55
SPEAKER_00: And so I came up with a tournament team concept, um, which we go to tournaments.
5:00
SPEAKER_00: Uh we get a tournament team roster, play cards, pass cards, and things like that.
5:05
SPEAKER_00: So we can go to any kind of tournament, uh Jags tournament, uh, Canton Cup, any, you know, any local current, you know.
5:11
SPEAKER_03: And they're all from different organizations and whatnot.
5:13
SPEAKER_03: And all these are in the summer, or is it just any tournament that you can do?
5:18
SPEAKER_00: Uh well at the tournament team concept we did back in the with the boys was we played indoor at what used to be Ultimate Soccer Pontiac.
5:28
SPEAKER_00: Rest in peace.
5:29
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
5:30
SPEAKER_00: So we did we did the we did their winter league there.
5:32
SPEAKER_00: We played against all the club teams, um, you know, which was great.
5:35
SPEAKER_00: We had a winter indoor uh schedule, and we trained in here two days a week with the boys, and then in the springtime we did three local tournaments, like Canton Cup, yeah, uh Jags, and then we did a Catalan Zoo showcase.
5:49
SPEAKER_00: And the funny thing about that was uh I did it for like eight years, eight years in a row because I had two boys, so four years, and then I did another four years.
5:56
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and it grew and grew and grew.
5:59
SPEAKER_03: And more one more and more ages and well, one year I had three teams, uh basically out of Athens, Athens players.
6:08
SPEAKER_00: So the word of mouth came around.
6:09
SPEAKER_00: It's like I had a U17, U16 team, and a U1819 team.
6:13
SPEAKER_00: And they were all and they were all from uh Athens programs.
6:17
SPEAKER_00: So that they all played together in the off-season.
6:21
SPEAKER_00: So when the regular season came around, uh they were training all year round basically with the each other.
6:27
SPEAKER_00: Some of them play both, some play club, and then when they had the opportunity to guest play in the wintertime or in tournaments, they came and played.
6:35
SPEAKER_00: You know, it was like$50 a kid to play in a tournament.
6:37
SPEAKER_00: You know, how can you pass it?
6:38
SPEAKER_00: That's it.
6:39
SPEAKER_00: How can you pass that up?
6:40
SPEAKER_00: Right.
6:40
SPEAKER_00: Because I didn't really charge them anything to do that back then.
6:43
SPEAKER_02: Right.
6:43
SPEAKER_00: Um because my kids, I wanted to offer that avenue for the parents that were like, you know, and they loved it.
6:50
SPEAKER_00: It was like some of the parents, some of the some some kids are from GilaSalle, yeah, um, Land Fear, and they were a national team, you know, they were on the nationals together, and they decided they're really good friends, and they're like, you know, well, yeah, I'm how can I get involved with this?
7:05
SPEAKER_00: So we had some national, so we had some G La Salle players that were so good.
7:09
SPEAKER_00: We had some kids from Troy High, some Athens players, and uh so it was kind of built around that concept, and it was it was just a wonderful thing for the boys.
7:17
SPEAKER_03: So did that mur did that murph into John aren't training or yes, okay.
7:23
SPEAKER_00: You know, so you know, when my boys kind of did that, um, I was working at my church as a sports director at that time, and I'm like, you know, I had this passion.
7:34
SPEAKER_00: It's like there's something's gotta be a little bit more than this.
7:37
SPEAKER_00: Um there were some changes that were going on.
7:39
SPEAKER_00: My dad was a uh minister at uh a local church here for 40 years.
7:43
SPEAKER_00: Okay and so I was on staff there for the kids' programs, and uh he retired.
7:49
SPEAKER_00: And so when that happened, you know, there was a change in leadership and things like that, and I was like, it just wasn't the same.
7:57
SPEAKER_00: And so I had the the timing was kind of right for me to step away from that.
8:01
SPEAKER_00: And I always had the passion of just kind of expanding.
8:03
SPEAKER_00: I said, why don't I just go into the business by myself?
8:06
SPEAKER_00: You know, being my own boss.
8:07
SPEAKER_00: You know, I love soccer, I love to train, I love to coach, and why not why not you know take that risk?
8:14
SPEAKER_00: So I did that seven years ago, 2019 is when I started in here.
8:19
SPEAKER_00: And then uh that's how I came about genre training.
8:22
SPEAKER_00: And uh so it has grown and grown and grown oh over the years, and uh I kind of morphed in.
8:30
SPEAKER_00: I did all boys at the beginning because my boys obviously were and now over the last two, three years the transition has happened all to like 90% of my clientele is all girls.
8:44
SPEAKER_03: What went into that?
8:45
SPEAKER_03: Did it just happen naturally?
8:46
SPEAKER_00: I think it kind of did.
8:48
SPEAKER_00: Um girls are very communal, yeah.
8:52
SPEAKER_00: So they love being with each other, you know, and they love uh just that aspect of it.
8:58
SPEAKER_00: And I think I'm a pretty easygoing type of guy, and so they felt safe coming to my training.
9:02
SPEAKER_00: So there's a lot of there's a lot of coaches, a lot of trainers out there that are like Intense.
9:08
SPEAKER_00: Intense.
9:08
SPEAKER_00: If you don't do it this way, you say, Well, what are you doing?
9:10
SPEAKER_00: What's the matter with you?
9:11
SPEAKER_00: Um, or they're just when I have the girls come in here and train, I have music playing.
9:17
SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
9:18
SPEAKER_00: Uh I said, what do you guys want to listen to?
9:20
SPEAKER_00: Whatever, and uh they come up with some stuff.
9:22
SPEAKER_00: It's like but it's just it's just a happy atmosphere, it's uh it's a it's a safe place for them to be.
9:28
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so when that's fun, yeah, fun.
9:31
SPEAKER_00: So but it's also very demanding.
9:32
SPEAKER_00: I I say, hey, we're here to have fun because the game is supposed to be that way.
9:37
SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
9:38
SPEAKER_00: But you're here for a reason.
9:40
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
9:40
SPEAKER_00: The reason is to get better.
9:41
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, right?
9:42
SPEAKER_00: We're not here just to goof around.
9:44
SPEAKER_00: There's a difference between goofing around and having fun.
9:46
SPEAKER_00: So we we like to have fun, and uh so that kind of progressed, you know, girls talk, and so one girl talks to another girl from a team, and then another girl talks to another girl, and then it just gradually.
9:57
SPEAKER_00: The boys, on the other hand, they're more I don't want to put a stigmatism on them, but they're like they know everything.
10:04
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they do.
10:06
SPEAKER_00: And they when they come here, it's like you know, uh, he's telling me what to do, and it's like it's like I don't I don't really care too much, whatever.
10:15
SPEAKER_00: Girls come in here, they want to please you.
10:17
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they want to they want to get better, they want to, you know, uh the trust factor is there with with them.
10:23
SPEAKER_00: And once you gain that trust with them, it's like they're feel comfortable, they just want to come back for more and more.
10:29
SPEAKER_00: And and that's that's what my main goal in in all my trainings is.
10:33
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, this has got I just facilitate it.
10:35
SPEAKER_00: I want a place for them to grow and to feel safe.
10:39
SPEAKER_00: And whatever your level is, whatever you want to do, um I'm here to to offer my services for you guys.
10:46
SPEAKER_00: So but yeah, 90 like now it's all strictly girls.
10:51
SPEAKER_00: It's strictly girls.
10:52
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I made the leap.
10:53
SPEAKER_03: John Arnt training is is strictly girls?
10:56
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I I do you say girls only?
10:59
SPEAKER_00: Yes.
11:00
SPEAKER_03: Oh last year, um I get it.
11:04
SPEAKER_00: I definitely get it.
11:05
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
11:06
SPEAKER_00: It's it's it's a niche, right?
11:08
SPEAKER_00: Uh yeah.
11:09
SPEAKER_00: Nobody else what other training company is just girls.
11:13
SPEAKER_00: That's a good idea.
11:14
SPEAKER_00: That's probably what I should have done with plane air.
11:17
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
11:17
SPEAKER_00: Because last year, um, during this uh around February, I just was sitting around, I'm like, you know, 90% of my girls are our trains are already girls.
11:27
SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
11:28
SPEAKER_00: Why am I just kind of not just taking the leap and saying, okay, this is a niche, nobody else is doing it.
11:36
SPEAKER_02: Right.
11:37
SPEAKER_00: Nobody in this area is doing it.
11:38
SPEAKER_00: Uh everybody else goes, you know, they have boys and girls mixed together.
11:42
SPEAKER_00: Why not have a a company?
11:44
SPEAKER_00: So I I I transitioned my brand basically from Troy uh from John Art Training to Troy City Women's Soccer Academy.
11:52
SPEAKER_03: Got it.
11:52
SPEAKER_00: Playing off of Troy City.
11:54
SPEAKER_00: Because, you know, again, the the Troy City Women's Football Club is kind of a this is kind of a pathway, the the my trainings when I have the girls come in here and say, hey, yeah, this could be something that you guys get to know me.
12:06
SPEAKER_00: So if you're interested in playing at the next level in the summertime or going on to college, this is a kind of a natural flow into that uh for you girls.
12:14
SPEAKER_03: Are the girls mostly from Troy as well?
12:17
SPEAKER_03: Like the like the boys were back in the tournament team days?
12:22
SPEAKER_00: No, um I had a connection basically because my boys were at that high school at the time.
12:26
SPEAKER_00: And so it's the girls are coming from all over the place.
12:30
SPEAKER_00: Um I do in the winter time, my main focus is all high school girls' trainings, team trainings.
12:36
SPEAKER_03: So I've had like nine Is it through club or is it through actual like high school where like Athens will come and then Troy maybe will come or Avondale or whatever?
12:44
SPEAKER_00: So I had Troy Athens, Troy High, Seahome, Notre Dame, uh Oakland Jim's Jim Statura?
12:53
SPEAKER_03: Yep.
12:53
SPEAKER_00: Yep.
12:54
SPEAKER_03: Um and then I had um I'll be helping out Jim too.
12:57
SPEAKER_03: Do you?
12:57
SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
12:57
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, once my like foot heals and like yeah.
13:00
SPEAKER_00: So I had Olgan Christian with Patrick Reyes.
13:02
SPEAKER_00: Uh he does the men and boys side.
13:04
SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah.
13:05
SPEAKER_00: He's an assistant coach with the Troy City team sometime.
13:07
SPEAKER_00: But um, so I had them, Anchor Bay, Romeo with Trevor Foster.
13:11
SPEAKER_00: Wow, Romeo.
13:12
SPEAKER_00: They they travel.
13:13
SPEAKER_03: Romeo's uh Romeo's always doing well.
13:17
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
13:18
SPEAKER_00: It's so much, it's it's it's weird because I think the more people that have built up out there, the the possibility.
13:23
SPEAKER_03: That's true.
13:24
SPEAKER_03: People are moving out there because they want to get away from the rat race, kinda.
13:29
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, of Oakland County.
13:30
SPEAKER_00: And so they have more girls to choose from, and that school is getting you know bigger in size, and but they're always they're always very good every year.
13:38
SPEAKER_00: And but you know, uh Troy High, I did I did two two sessions with them this past year.
13:43
SPEAKER_00: Um they do a six-week session before Christmas, and then they did an did another six, and they're gonna be so good this year.
13:49
SPEAKER_00: Who's coaching Troy?
13:50
SPEAKER_00: Uh new coach, Tony Casali.
13:53
SPEAKER_00: He was at Stevenson High School in Sterling Heights for man for many, many years.
13:57
SPEAKER_03: And who's coaching Athens?
13:59
SPEAKER_03: Because Todd's doing like they're Jason Clark.
14:01
SPEAKER_00: Jason Clark.
14:02
SPEAKER_00: Yep, that's right.
14:03
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
14:04
SPEAKER_00: That's right.
14:04
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I think he came from maybe West Bullfield, maybe?
14:07
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that sounds right.
14:08
SPEAKER_00: This is gonna be what his second year at at Athens.
14:11
SPEAKER_00: So, um, but I love doing their those two those two groups because I'm a Troy guy.
14:16
SPEAKER_00: So I love to see their programs grow and and uh again, Troy's gonna be I they're gonna be so good this year.
14:22
SPEAKER_00: They're they're someone some team to watch.
14:25
SPEAKER_03: With okay, so with the training company, did it get to a point where this episode is brought to you by Grips SmackerSommax.
14:35
SPEAKER_03: Guys, stomach spending$55 on a pair of small when there are other options available.
14:42
SPEAKER_03: Grip's nigger was founded by a father and someone who were sick of paying$55 for summax.
14:51
SPEAKER_03: Go to Gripsmacker Dunk and use promo code MoneyHateSumaker for 15% month.
14:58
SPEAKER_03: Grip summer, promo code money hate summer.
15:01
SPEAKER_03: This episode is brought to you by the North American Summer Expo.
15:05
SPEAKER_03: If you remember last year when I had a lexical levels, and so many of you were blown away and kept them messaging me and how did you get a lexical level to come to you?
15:16
SPEAKER_03: And to be honest with you, what is the North American Summer Expo?
15:19
SPEAKER_03: The Expo has workshops and seminars and field presentations from tech coaches and industry experts.
15:28
SPEAKER_03: I will be there this year 100%.
15:30
SPEAKER_03: I'll be setting them up on Pump Camus Remote.
15:33
SPEAKER_03: In addition to the Pump Camus I'm going to be filming there, I'm also going to have an open hour where any coach at the Expo or anybody at the Expo can come sit down at the chair and have a one-on-one 15-minute chat with me, and you guys can just come and chat and talk about whatever you want.
15:51
SPEAKER_03: North American Cemetery Expo, July 30th to August 1st, Novae, Michigan.
15:56
SPEAKER_03: I'll see you there.
15:58
SPEAKER_03: You had so many girls that were uh capable of playing at the next level that you started the women's football club?
16:08
SPEAKER_00: Um I had a I I first started out in the women's summer um semi-professional league with with Corktown.
16:17
SPEAKER_00: Oh.
16:18
SPEAKER_00: I I was an assistant coach for their for their Who's the head coach at that time, Jeff?
16:22
SPEAKER_00: Uh Aaron Roy is their okay, Aaron Roy.
16:24
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
16:24
SPEAKER_00: And he's still their coach there.
16:26
SPEAKER_00: But I started doing it uh as an assistant coach.
16:29
SPEAKER_00: Uh their first year they were down at the corner ballpark.
16:32
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
16:32
SPEAKER_00: It used to be the old Tiger Stadium.
16:33
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
16:34
SPEAKER_00: Um I volunteered to coach them, uh, help with the with the team.
16:39
SPEAKER_00: And then I stepped away early in the season um because of different things going on.
16:45
SPEAKER_00: But um the girls that I trained, the college girls, said, Why don't you start your own thing?
16:53
SPEAKER_00: Why don't you start your own team?
16:54
SPEAKER_00: You already have uh a client base, you already have like a system in place where you're having kids constantly come through, uh girls come through, and I said, Yeah, I'll try it.
17:04
SPEAKER_00: And so the first year I did it in 24, sent out a player interest form and had like over 125 girls fill out a player interest form to be involved.
17:15
SPEAKER_00: And uh yeah.
17:17
SPEAKER_00: So that was how many were you hoping for?
17:21
SPEAKER_00: I was just hoping to you know field a team uh of you know 20, 25 girls.
17:26
SPEAKER_00: But in summer is a different animal.
17:28
SPEAKER_00: You have to have a roster size of 30 to 40 girls because of vacations.
17:33
SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
17:34
SPEAKER_00: Work schedules, work, some girls already done degrees, yeah.
17:38
SPEAKER_00: Some girls are younger that they already have their club, their club uh commitment.
17:41
SPEAKER_03: Some college girls have to leave in in the middle of well, some leave in May, some leave in June.
17:48
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
17:49
SPEAKER_00: So you have to have a so again, I I mean I have a roster size of 65.
17:53
SPEAKER_00: It's crazy.
17:54
SPEAKER_00: And um it it is so that was the first year, and then the second year, same thing.
17:59
SPEAKER_00: I had like over a hundred girls come come to tryouts.
18:02
SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, I I'm gonna need a bigger boat.
18:06
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, exactly.
18:07
SPEAKER_00: Because it's just me.
18:09
SPEAKER_00: You know, I I do all the advertising, I do all the marketing, I do all the social media, I do all the trainings.
18:14
SPEAKER_00: It's not I don't have anybody that's else that except for my assistant coaches in the summertime.
18:19
SPEAKER_02: Right.
18:19
SPEAKER_00: So I do I kind of do everything, you know, social media, everything.
18:22
SPEAKER_00: So I'm like, what am I doing here?
18:25
SPEAKER_00: Uh which is a great, great problem to have when you have that many girls that are interested in coming because we're an independent club, right?
18:34
SPEAKER_03: Right.
18:35
SPEAKER_00: I'm not associated with the We're not associated with the Hawks or Liverpool or Nationals or MDA or anything.
18:41
SPEAKER_00: No, so I'm just an independent club out there that built from scratch.
18:46
SPEAKER_03: Are you the only independent club in the UWS in Michigan?
18:50
SPEAKER_03: I know I know some are in have separate names from their actual club, but they're you know it's the Nationals.
19:00
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you know it's the Nationals, you know it's the Hawks, you know it's Liverpool.
19:04
SPEAKER_03: Because everybody pretty much has a different name except maybe the Jags and Midwest, but they're in the USLW.
19:10
SPEAKER_00: Their second team, their second team's going to be in the UWS this year.
19:14
SPEAKER_00: Midwest.
19:15
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but they put their second team in.
19:17
SPEAKER_00: Uh Tulip City is a new team out in Tulip City, isn't it by Holland, Michigan?
19:21
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so a lot of hope.
19:22
SPEAKER_00: Tulip festival?
19:23
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
19:23
SPEAKER_00: A lot of hope girls.
19:24
SPEAKER_00: Uh they're gonna be on there.
19:27
SPEAKER_00: So I I don't know if they're tied to anybody.
19:30
SPEAKER_00: Okay.
19:31
SPEAKER_00: But I mean, they're tied to kind of like the hope, you know, the girls out there.
19:36
SPEAKER_00: But um besides that, um, no, I think we're kind of again a niche, right?
19:41
SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
19:42
SPEAKER_00: It's kind of I'm very proud of the the brand and and what what what we've accomplished.
19:46
SPEAKER_03: So the girls just said, hey, you should start your own.
19:51
SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
19:52
SPEAKER_03: Now, when it all started, did you immediately go in the UWS?
19:57
SPEAKER_03: What did you what did you play in?
19:58
SPEAKER_00: The MPSL, Michigan Premier Soccer.
20:01
SPEAKER_00: Is that still around?
20:01
SPEAKER_00: It sure is, yeah.
20:02
SPEAKER_03: How many teams are in that?
20:04
SPEAKER_00: Last year, there was six Jags, second team was in it.
20:11
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
20:12
SPEAKER_00: Uh Kabodo out of Windsor.
20:14
SPEAKER_02: Okay.
20:15
SPEAKER_00: Uh Lakes, Lake St.
20:16
SPEAKER_00: Clair, they're Macomb based.
20:18
SPEAKER_00: Okay.
20:19
SPEAKER_00: Pinnacle, which is a Macomb-based team.
20:22
SPEAKER_00: And then there was another team I can't remember.
20:25
SPEAKER_00: Um so we were in that league, so I had two teams in that league.
20:30
SPEAKER_00: So we we played each against each other.
20:33
SPEAKER_00: How did you do that?
20:34
SPEAKER_00: It was great.
20:35
SPEAKER_03: You just sat at half field.
20:37
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I sat at half field.
20:39
SPEAKER_00: I said, um, I had two assistant coaches.
20:40
SPEAKER_00: Like you're you're in charge of team A.
20:45
SPEAKER_00: You're in charge of team B, and I'm gonna be sitting right in the middle.
20:47
SPEAKER_03: I love it.
20:47
SPEAKER_00: And I just enjoyed it.
20:48
SPEAKER_00: I mean, it was just it brought a smile because what teams probably enjoyed it too.
20:52
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
20:53
SPEAKER_00: I said, what team, what club out there can have enough players, first of all, to feel two teams at the same time?
20:58
SPEAKER_00: So there was what there was maybe 40 girls that were there that night for two teams, and it was very competitive.
21:07
SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, we played that, and then in the NPSL last year, we we had they have a League Cup, you know, end season we play against, and so they have a final, a league cup final, and our team, two teams were in the finals.
21:19
SPEAKER_03: Love it.
21:19
SPEAKER_00: And so the trophy was sitting there in the middle, and I said, hey, you guys go at it.
21:23
SPEAKER_00: And it was a great game.
21:25
SPEAKER_00: Uh it was just it was just it was just fun to watch.
21:28
SPEAKER_03: Um it's crazy because in Buffalo, it's so small and the area is so small that there's if FC Buffalo wanted to have a second team, they have no games.
21:39
SPEAKER_03: There's nobody else to play.
21:41
SPEAKER_03: Whereas here, there's so many leagues.
21:43
SPEAKER_03: It's not even just it's not even just teams, it's just there's so many different leagues where you could have potentially uh your first team in USL, your second team in UWS, and your third team in NPSL or something like that.
21:57
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
21:57
SPEAKER_00: They have uh WPSL, they have That's their footprints trying to get into Michigan as well.
22:02
SPEAKER_00: They have, I think they had uh Corktown was one of the Michigan team, and then um Michigan Rangers uh got into that uh WPSL this year, and then our second team again, we're not gonna be in the MPSL this year.
22:15
SPEAKER_00: We were looking to get into the UPSLW, which is a national league as well.
22:20
SPEAKER_00: Okay.
22:21
SPEAKER_00: So they're like the second, I guess, most teams in the nation behind the WPSL as a national league.
22:32
SPEAKER_03: Uh for let's say UWS, what is it to get into the league?
22:37
SPEAKER_03: Do you do you remember?
22:38
SPEAKER_00: So two thousand two thousand dollars to register to be in the league.
22:41
SPEAKER_00: Okay.
22:42
SPEAKER_00: Have a team in there, and then you get uh the registration costs, you know, per player.
22:47
SPEAKER_00: Per player.
22:48
SPEAKER_00: I mean, they they cover I think the first 20 something girls, and if you roster like 35 girls, then you know, anything above that, then they charge you 35 or 38 dollars per kid to register to play.
23:01
SPEAKER_03: Is there any standards to get into the UWS?
23:04
SPEAKER_03: Like you have to have X or you have to have a No.
23:08
SPEAKER_03: So anybody could really so any club out there could start a UWS team in theory.
23:15
SPEAKER_00: Well, look at look at look at me.
23:16
SPEAKER_00: I mean, we were in we were an independent club and the Jags were in it, and um I I can't remember who else was in it before I was involved with it the last two years, but you know, if you have you know, I had a good relationship with Doug.
23:30
SPEAKER_00: Doug Doug knew who I was.
23:32
SPEAKER_00: He knew what I could, you know, my teams and the quality of players that I could provide in the UWS.
23:38
SPEAKER_00: And he said, yeah, yeah, we have a spot for you.
23:40
SPEAKER_00: So um again, he's more than welcoming.
23:44
SPEAKER_00: He's uh again, there's no kind of there's no kind of restrictions on all right, we have to have you know locker locker rooms for girls.
23:52
SPEAKER_00: You don't have to have all these kind of restrictions for for you know a lot of these other teams like USL.
23:58
SPEAKER_00: I mean, you have to have certain things in order for you, you know, you do streaming rights and all that other kind of stuff.
24:03
SPEAKER_00: Oh, really?
24:04
SPEAKER_00: For all that kind of thing.
24:05
SPEAKER_00: I mean, we don't for for the UWS, you know, we play our home games the last two years at Evolution Sports out in Albert Hills.
24:13
SPEAKER_03: Inside the turf inside the dome, or do they have an outdoor field now?
24:15
SPEAKER_03: No, they have in the dome.
24:17
SPEAKER_00: In the dome.
24:18
SPEAKER_00: Because the last two seasons I wanted to use Troy and Athens, but they had what'd they charge or well they had a bond proposal, and so they redid the whole turfs.
24:28
SPEAKER_00: So they did a turf at Athens one year, and then the next year they did the turf at at Troy High.
24:34
SPEAKER_00: And now they're doing the track at one school, and so it's been a difficult thing to get on.
24:39
SPEAKER_00: Right.
24:39
SPEAKER_00: Because that's where I want to play my games, is in Troy, right?
24:42
SPEAKER_00: So but um so again, we didn't have you know, UWS didn't have a all right, you don't have to have the bathrooms and or the the locker rooms and things and stuff.
24:51
SPEAKER_00: So um, you know, any kind of thing they they kind of required is a is a trainer on site.
24:57
SPEAKER_00: So yeah.
24:58
SPEAKER_00: But besides that, it's and and it runs itself really well, you know, all the all the teams that are in it are have the same kind of idea what what's best for the girls, you know.
25:09
SPEAKER_00: Some are supposed to be for them to prepare for what?
25:12
SPEAKER_00: College or whatever.
25:14
SPEAKER_00: Or the younger girls for a club.
25:16
SPEAKER_00: Or the younger girls going, you know, I you know, we have on in Troy City, we have about 10, 10 to 11, 15 to 16 year olds that are that you couldn't tell when they're on the field that they're 15 or 16 years old.
25:32
SPEAKER_00: That's great.
25:33
SPEAKER_00: And you have to be, you have my my philosophy is that you have to have that sustainability of younger girls mixed in with the older group.
25:42
SPEAKER_00: Because if you just have college girls all the time, it is especially in my case, I don't have I don't I don't have a feeder system like the Jags, right?
25:49
SPEAKER_00: Well, Jags can just bring in their next girls that are going to be.
25:52
SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
25:53
SPEAKER_00: Or the Hawks can just bring in the I have to figure out okay, how is how am I gonna make this sustainable?
25:59
SPEAKER_00: So I have to have I have 26 high school girls, and then I have about 38 college girls.
26:07
SPEAKER_00: And in order to keep that going year in and year out and keep the hunger there, because the younger girls are what they're hungry, they want a scholarship, they want to play at the next level, they want to get the experience playing with the older girls.
26:20
SPEAKER_00: So they're uh they're there to to put into work and it's exciting to see.
26:25
SPEAKER_00: Um and uh so we have some really again really talented girls.
26:30
SPEAKER_00: We have a girl that uh Bridget Kottmeyer.
26:32
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, she plays for her main main team is Ann Arbor A C.
26:37
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
26:37
SPEAKER_00: Um but she plays with us as well in the summertime.
26:40
SPEAKER_03: Is she related to like Haley?
26:42
SPEAKER_03: Like the uh like the old goalkeeper that played in Michigan?
26:44
SPEAKER_03: I don't I don't think so.
26:45
SPEAKER_00: She has an older sister, Caroline Cottmeyer.
26:48
SPEAKER_00: She has an older sister that plays club soccer at Michigan, who's on my team as well.
26:52
SPEAKER_00: Okay.
26:52
SPEAKER_00: So the sisters want to come back.
26:53
SPEAKER_00: That's a high level.
26:54
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, sisters want to play together.
26:56
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's high level.
26:56
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, sisters want to play together.
26:58
SPEAKER_00: So it's kind of a neat, neat thing that Bridget wants to still play with her sister in the summertime, too.
27:03
SPEAKER_00: And you know, she's been invited to the national team camp and and played in Spain this past winter.
27:08
SPEAKER_00: Yep.
27:09
SPEAKER_00: Things like that.
27:10
SPEAKER_00: I just saw her.
27:11
SPEAKER_00: I just saw her.
27:12
SPEAKER_00: Did you post something about her?
27:13
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, she plays for the slammers also out in California.
27:17
SPEAKER_00: She went to what she went to Phoenix for a the ECNO show.
27:21
SPEAKER_00: What's her local club?
27:23
SPEAKER_00: Uh Tigers.
27:24
SPEAKER_03: Oh, she's a Tigers girl.
27:25
SPEAKER_03: Oh, that's why.
27:26
SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
27:26
SPEAKER_03: Because she can because Slammers are ECNO, I believe.
27:29
SPEAKER_03: Uh yeah, and then Tigers are GA, so she could do both.
27:33
SPEAKER_00: So she went out there.
27:34
SPEAKER_03: Um, so her they were just kind of you know seeing what is out there because Slammer is is one of the top legit, it's number one club usually every year.
27:45
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it all depends on the age group, but yeah, in the nation, right?
27:48
SPEAKER_00: And so the the competition is is really good.
27:51
SPEAKER_00: And um, so I don't know how much she's going to be doing with them, but she did go out to Phoenix for that.
27:55
SPEAKER_00: But it's just the the talent that she that she that she has is crazy.
28:00
SPEAKER_00: You could tell the the difference in when she's out there in the field, that first touch is crazy.
28:06
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
28:07
SPEAKER_00: And just the the awareness and the movement off the ball and things like that.
28:10
SPEAKER_00: Um and but you when she comes and plays with us, you would never know that she's this high-level player.
28:16
SPEAKER_00: She's just like one of the girls.
28:17
SPEAKER_00: Right.
28:17
SPEAKER_00: She just fits right in with everybody, and that's how I want uh this whole Troy City to be is just a family, you know?
28:24
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
28:24
SPEAKER_00: You know, there's no drama.
28:26
SPEAKER_00: You don't come here with drama because uh it's life's too short.
28:29
SPEAKER_00: I don't I don't need it.
28:31
SPEAKER_03: How do you how do you handle that during the season with like 35 girls?
28:36
SPEAKER_03: I'm sure, well, 60 year olds.
28:38
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, but but I'm sure with the first team But you train them all together.
28:45
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
28:46
SPEAKER_03: Again, so do you just like announce the roster uh like two days before the game?
28:52
SPEAKER_03: Because you can only take twenty-four, maybe twenty.
28:56
SPEAKER_00: Uh UWS, you can only kind of roster 18.
28:58
SPEAKER_03: 18, okay.
28:59
SPEAKER_00: Uh the MPSL you can double to 22.
29:02
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, okay.
29:02
SPEAKER_00: When we're in that league.
29:04
SPEAKER_00: And so, which brings me to my other point where I I think in the summertime, why are we limiting roster spots?
29:13
SPEAKER_00: Right.
29:14
SPEAKER_00: It's girls are the girls are there to play the game, you know, get touches in the summertime.
29:20
SPEAKER_00: And when you limit, you know, our app can only have 18 girls there, then you then you limit four people that are have don't have the chance to be involved in that game in the minutes.
29:31
SPEAKER_00: Um but what I usually do is when I get the schedule kind of finalized in the springtime, I send out a sheet, a Google sheet to the girls.
29:38
SPEAKER_00: I said, mark your availability of games that you can play in.
29:43
SPEAKER_00: It doesn't mean you're willing to play in them, it means you're available.
29:46
SPEAKER_00: And then it's my job, my responsibility to kind of go through that roster and figure out what's the best case scenario for you know that game.
29:56
SPEAKER_00: And I try to, again, we had 30 games last year, so there was a lot of games where girls could see.
30:01
SPEAKER_03: Between the three teams?
30:02
SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
30:03
SPEAKER_03: You had 30, 10 per.
30:05
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
30:07
SPEAKER_00: Between end of May and probably July 20th, something in that area.
30:13
SPEAKER_03: What are you gonna do this year?
30:14
SPEAKER_03: Uh you said you said you're doing team's not doing the MP or WPSL or MPSO.
30:21
SPEAKER_00: The MPSO, yeah.
30:22
SPEAKER_00: Not doing the MPSO.
30:23
SPEAKER_00: Not doing that.
30:24
SPEAKER_00: Um we're doing UWS and then trying to get a lot more friendlies with teams.
30:30
SPEAKER_00: Okay.
30:30
SPEAKER_00: Um and then you uh the UPSLW uh is trying to get a foothold here in Michigan.
30:37
SPEAKER_00: And so um that is still in process.
30:41
SPEAKER_00: So I'm trying to trying to get that going and and put a team in that as well.
30:45
SPEAKER_00: So and then supplement them with again friendlies, you know, against teams that I'm not in the UWS that I'm not playing, because on the west side, you don't play them.
30:54
SPEAKER_00: I don't usually, you know, I don't have a team that I'm playing.
30:56
SPEAKER_00: Like Tulip City, we're doing a friendly with.
30:58
SPEAKER_03: Right.
30:59
SPEAKER_03: How many okay, go through the UWS just in Michigan?
31:02
SPEAKER_03: How many how many teams?
31:04
SPEAKER_03: 13.
31:05
SPEAKER_03: There's 13?
31:06
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
31:07
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
31:08
SPEAKER_00: Zalanson City, uh, Grand Rapids, AFC, I think there's yeah, yeah.
31:13
SPEAKER_03: What's the that uh people keep on talking to me about, man, you need to go see what they're doing in Grand Rapids.
31:19
SPEAKER_03: And I'm like, oh, a Midwest?
31:21
SPEAKER_03: No.
31:21
SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
31:21
SPEAKER_03: MFA, but now they're A G what AFC or I don't know.
31:26
SPEAKER_03: A C G R or something like that.
31:29
unknown: Yeah.
31:29
SPEAKER_03: What is this?
31:30
SPEAKER_03: Okay, so that's the West Side.
31:32
SPEAKER_00: Well then no, no Tigers.
31:34
SPEAKER_00: Or not the Tigers, uh Tulip.
31:36
SPEAKER_00: Tulip, Midland City, Midland West team, yeah.
31:40
SPEAKER_00: Good.
31:40
SPEAKER_00: They're pretty they're pretty a quality, quality club.
31:44
SPEAKER_03: Um are they tied in with Midland?
31:46
SPEAKER_03: Like the old Midland Fusion or whatever it used to be?
31:49
SPEAKER_03: Yes, yes.
31:50
SPEAKER_03: Is it still Midland Fusion?
31:51
SPEAKER_00: I I believe it is.
31:52
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I think so too.
31:56
SPEAKER_00: And then um then Lanson City, I think there's another team.
32:00
SPEAKER_00: Um and then you have Legends.
32:03
SPEAKER_03: Okay.
32:04
SPEAKER_00: Uh Kevin Oakley is involved with that.
32:06
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, they're on the east side, right?
32:08
SPEAKER_00: Uh West.
32:09
SPEAKER_00: They're out in Brighton.
32:10
SPEAKER_00: Okay, yeah.
32:11
SPEAKER_00: Right.
32:11
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
32:12
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
32:13
SPEAKER_00: So, and then you got this, you know, Jags has two teams in the UWS, the first and second team that are playing in the UWS.
32:18
SPEAKER_03: They're b okay.
32:19
SPEAKER_03: Kind of like what you did.
32:20
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
32:21
SPEAKER_00: And I'm trying to get as many games as I can with my second team in UWS, as I said before, to have, you know, get them quality touches and quality games in the summer.
32:30
SPEAKER_03: So you said 30 games total.
32:31
SPEAKER_03: How much did the first team get?
32:34
SPEAKER_03: 10?
32:35
SPEAKER_03: Is it is it separated, 10, 10, and 10?
32:38
SPEAKER_00: Well, last year, because it was kind of a kind of a weird thing, you know, because I I'm not a big thing about having a first team because it's fluid.
32:46
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it is.
32:47
SPEAKER_00: It's fluid.
32:47
SPEAKER_03: Because we're gonna play, hey, we got a second team game, who's up?
32:51
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
32:51
SPEAKER_00: And and it's like, you know, if I only kind of pigeonholed them to like, okay, you're only playing the UWS.
32:58
SPEAKER_00: A lot of a lot of the girls did play UWS and they were able to play some MPSL games.
33:02
SPEAKER_00: I had one girl that lives in Potosky, saw me on Instagram and loved what I did like a year and a half ago, and wanted to be a part of my team because there was nothing up north.
33:15
SPEAKER_00: There's no of course there's no teams up north right during the summer.
33:19
SPEAKER_00: She saw what I did.
33:20
SPEAKER_00: Uh she goes out to Hussan University out in the East Coast, okay.
33:25
SPEAKER_00: School.
33:26
SPEAKER_02: Okay.
33:26
SPEAKER_00: Um but she she lives down here.
33:28
SPEAKER_00: She for her summers she lives in Potosky, but she bought got an apartment down here, and she played in twenty-five or twenty-six of the games last summer between UWS and MPSL.
33:40
SPEAKER_00: And then there's other girls that again have club schedules or work or vacations or things like that.
33:45
SPEAKER_00: Some of the girls play four or five games.
33:47
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and then you don't does anybody is any of the older players like super into it and like get frustrated when somebody has to like go on vacation or anything like that?
33:59
SPEAKER_00: Uh not really.
34:00
SPEAKER_00: Um, I think I think all the girls kind of have understanding of that.
34:03
SPEAKER_00: I mean it's and I try again, I try to do the best that I can, you know, to put the the best whatever 18 or 22 girls on the field for for you know when we're playing against the Jags or against Vincent City at C when they have their top 13, which is crazy.
34:23
SPEAKER_00: You know, we played them any we played them unfortunately in their showcase game last summer because they were having a Hawks um open house out in schoolcraft.
34:34
SPEAKER_00: So they had all the younger girls come.
34:36
SPEAKER_03: So go to come watch Flint City.
34:39
SPEAKER_00: Flint City, and they had their showcase team basically, they're all their D1 players from oh yeah, you know, um North Carolina.
34:46
SPEAKER_00: Bala.
34:47
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, she scored four or five other goals against us.
34:53
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
34:53
SPEAKER_00: If she wasn't playing, we'd we we were did pretty well, but we're like, oh gosh.
34:58
SPEAKER_00: So I schedule them this year.
34:59
SPEAKER_00: Hopefully it's not gonna be the same thing.
35:02
SPEAKER_00: Because, you know, we have uh in our team, we have you know D1, some D1 players, but mostly D2, D three, NAIA.
35:10
SPEAKER_00: And again, there's nothing wrong because some of these girls could play at D1, D1, but they decided that you know their school that they wanted to go to, smaller school.
35:18
SPEAKER_00: Um so we we do really well.
35:21
SPEAKER_00: Uh last year we came in second place in the UWS against the Jags, Flint City, and everybody.
35:26
SPEAKER_00: So we we us and the Jags played in the uh the Great Lakes final.
35:31
SPEAKER_00: Um and they beat us, and so they went to Chicago to play in the Nationals.
35:36
SPEAKER_00: But in our second year, we were I think we're 5'2 and 1, and uh so uh again, I think that's pretty good for just being uh team that just started.
35:46
SPEAKER_03: And this is just your third year?
35:48
SPEAKER_03: Is it going to be?
35:49
SPEAKER_03: It's gonna be our third year.
35:50
SPEAKER_03: This is gonna be your third year.
35:51
SPEAKER_00: And the MPSL we won the last two years.
35:54
SPEAKER_03: When do you guys start?
35:56
SPEAKER_00: And do you guys have like you don't have tryouts then?
35:59
SPEAKER_03: I did.
36:00
SPEAKER_03: Okay, you do tryouts.
36:01
SPEAKER_00: I do tryouts over Christmas break.
36:03
SPEAKER_00: Oh that's when all the girls come that are here, right?
36:06
SPEAKER_00: Of course.
36:07
SPEAKER_00: Um so that's the only time you can really get together, unless you want to do things last minute and have at in May.
36:13
SPEAKER_00: Which I'm which I which I've seen.
36:17
SPEAKER_00: Which is crazy because your season starts in May.
36:20
SPEAKER_00: You know, when uh it's Mother's Day basically.
36:22
SPEAKER_03: Guys, we're girls come two weeks away from our first game and we haven't had a practice yet.
36:26
SPEAKER_00: Girls girls come home uh Mother's Day weekend usually, so May 10th ish, 11th.
36:32
SPEAKER_00: And so that's when we start our preseason trainings and stuff like that, and then two, three weeks later, we might have maybe one or two games scheduled before Memorial Day, and then everything kind of hits in June because they want everything in the UWS, they want things done by July 7th is when is when the playoffs locally here are playoffs, so the West Side and the East Side get together, the top two teams.
36:57
SPEAKER_00: And then the nationals championship, which is I think gonna be held in Michigan now this year, which is great.
37:03
SPEAKER_03: Really?
37:03
SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
37:04
SPEAKER_03: Doug was a big proponent of that, and he's like Dude, we have nine we have thirteen teams, why wouldn't we do that here?
37:09
SPEAKER_03: And any idea where they're gonna do it?
37:13
SPEAKER_03: Don't know.
37:14
SPEAKER_00: Um well if Wayne State is available and done in time, he said.
37:23
SPEAKER_00: Then possibly Wayne State, or you know, maybe um where Flint City plays out in uh where is it out there?
37:31
SPEAKER_03: Where do they play?
37:32
SPEAKER_03: Grand Blanc?
37:33
SPEAKER_00: No, no, no.
37:34
SPEAKER_00: Um at the tip of my tongue.
37:36
SPEAKER_00: Um Atwood.
37:39
SPEAKER_00: Atwood, Atwood Stadium.
37:40
SPEAKER_00: Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
37:41
SPEAKER_00: Where the Flint City box play and all that.
37:43
SPEAKER_00: So but that's just they they don't know.
37:46
SPEAKER_00: Um but they would like to have a a nice I guess obviously place for it to be held.
37:51
SPEAKER_00: Um Doug was part of the LTU Lawrence Attack last year for last year.
37:55
SPEAKER_00: And so that's where we kind of had the semifinal game last year, and that was a nice, nice venue.
38:00
SPEAKER_00: Um, but he's not a part of that.
38:01
SPEAKER_00: So um so the discussions are there whether you know we want to you know hold that but how what's your training schedule like in season?
38:10
SPEAKER_03: How how many times per week?
38:12
SPEAKER_03: Where?
38:13
SPEAKER_00: Uh twice.
38:15
SPEAKER_00: Okay.
38:15
SPEAKER_00: So we do evolution in in the mornings.
38:19
SPEAKER_00: Uh I try to do one morning, one evening because of work schedules, right?
38:24
SPEAKER_00: Again, in the summertime, if you have a roster size of 50-60 girls, you'd be surprised that you only get 20, 25 girls that show the training just because of conflicts.
38:36
SPEAKER_00: So we try to have one in the morning, which is gonna be on a Monday, uh, one in the evening on Wednesday, which is gonna be held in here, and just can be technically based.
38:44
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
38:44
SPEAKER_00: Uh just get a lot of touches on the ball.
38:46
SPEAKER_00: And again, we'll see how many kids show up.
38:49
SPEAKER_00: Last few years we've had 20 to 25 girls, which is awesome, to come to training.
38:54
SPEAKER_00: Uh I hear other stories of uh summer leagues, and it's like we have like eight or nine, and it's just like a polling teeth to have them come.
39:01
SPEAKER_00: So two trainings in a week, and then uh one of our sponsors that we've kind of uh coordinated with is uh a CrossFit.
39:09
SPEAKER_00: So I offer CrossFit sessions for them on Tuesdays and Thursdays, okay, which is local here in Troy.
39:14
SPEAKER_00: Uh Stay Strong is is the the company that we did with last year.
39:19
SPEAKER_00: And through our sponsorships and through our fundraising and things like that, girls don't have to pay for the CrossFit.
39:24
SPEAKER_00: It's just like they come, they get a good workout in.
39:27
SPEAKER_00: And so Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday is basically you can do either trainings or do CrossFit.
39:34
SPEAKER_00: And and then our games are usually on the weekends, Thursday, Friday, Saturdays, Sundays, um, maybe some on Mondays and Tuesdays, but that's kind of a schedule.
39:43
SPEAKER_00: It's all jam-packed.
39:44
SPEAKER_00: Right.
39:45
SPEAKER_03: Jam-packed in into the do any of the girls pay anything?
39:49
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
39:50
SPEAKER_03: Okay.
39:50
SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
39:50
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
39:51
SPEAKER_00: The jerseys you see behind us and uh all this stuff here.
39:54
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
39:55
SPEAKER_00: Sponsorships, uh, but the girls pay a fee uh to get all that kind of stuff.
39:59
SPEAKER_03: Right.
40:00
SPEAKER_00: Um, which and you know, and and kind of my time, you know, the last couple years I really I just did uh labor of love.
40:10
SPEAKER_00: And you'd be surprised how much it cost to run three teams in the summertime.
40:14
SPEAKER_00: Right.
40:15
SPEAKER_00: It was like$35,000 with referee fees, training fees, field fees, field turf.
40:24
SPEAKER_00: Well, just referees in 30 games alone.
40:26
SPEAKER_03: Right.
40:27
SPEAKER_00: It's a lot, it's a lot.
40:29
SPEAKER_00: And then, you know, we do a photo shoot for the girls, a professional photo shoot.
40:33
SPEAKER_00: So at the at the uh at the tryouts over over Christmas break, we're trying to try to figure out the team and our the rosters, and then right after that at uh in New Year's, we do a professional photo shoot for the girls.
40:46
SPEAKER_00: So they come Yeah, media day.
40:49
SPEAKER_00: Media Day, yeah, and they do and they love it.
40:51
SPEAKER_00: And uh we have a great photographer that uh we use Josh uh Cal Sano photography.
40:58
SPEAKER_00: He's just he's just wonderful.
41:00
SPEAKER_00: And uh so we do a media day and and uh the girls get that as part of the whole package as well.
41:06
SPEAKER_00: So uh we offer a lot of different things that I don't think other clubs do.
41:12
SPEAKER_00: I don't think a lot of clubs do a media day for their summer teams.
41:14
SPEAKER_02: Right.
41:15
SPEAKER_00: A lot of clubs don't offer CrossFit sessions for the girls, no, you know, extra trainings and things like that.
41:20
SPEAKER_00: Uh we have a professional photographer that comes to every game.
41:24
SPEAKER_00: Uh we actually, you know, we do we have a VL system that you know we record games and have it, you know, for them for recruiting.
41:31
SPEAKER_00: Who wants to get recruited uh to have that for them as well.
41:35
SPEAKER_00: So there's there's a lot of great perks for them.
41:38
SPEAKER_03: Have has NSN reached out to you at all, National Soccer Network, about live streaming?
41:45
SPEAKER_00: They did at the beginning.
41:47
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
41:47
SPEAKER_00: You know, again, I have to pick and choose.
41:50
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, because it's it's costly.
41:52
SPEAKER_03: But we can end the pay-to-play.
41:54
SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
41:56
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, right.
41:58
SPEAKER_03: Every every episode, something like that oh yeah, but you know, that's all we in America need to get rid of, and we'll be right there with the rest of the world.
42:07
SPEAKER_03: Shut up.
42:09
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
42:10
SPEAKER_03: Everything costs money.
42:12
SPEAKER_00: It does.
42:12
SPEAKER_00: And you know, I don't want to charge the girls.
42:15
SPEAKER_00: $35,000.
42:16
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
42:17
SPEAKER_00: Three teams.
42:18
SPEAKER_00: You know, it's eleven uniforms are a big deal.
42:21
SPEAKER_03: Have you ever thought about cutting back and be like, okay, we're only gonna do two teams this year, and then it'd be 25 four?
42:26
SPEAKER_00: Well, we are gonna be probably doing two teams this year.
42:28
SPEAKER_00: Okay.
42:29
SPEAKER_00: So um three teams was crazy last year, you know.
42:32
SPEAKER_00: Especially when it's in a one-man band.
42:35
SPEAKER_00: Because I was doing my trainings as well.
42:37
SPEAKER_00: Right.
42:37
SPEAKER_00: My summer trainings.
42:38
SPEAKER_00: So I in the mornings I do just you know, summer trainings in here.
42:42
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
42:42
SPEAKER_00: And then in the evenings, I do the Troy City, you know, stuff.
42:47
SPEAKER_00: Right.
42:49
SPEAKER_03: How many of the girls do double?
42:51
SPEAKER_03: Like they'll train with Troy City and then they also train with you on the side?
42:56
SPEAKER_00: Um, a lot of the high school girls, obviously college, I mean they're away, obviously during but during the summertime, there are some that that do both.
43:05
SPEAKER_00: Okay.
43:05
SPEAKER_00: But you know, during the school year itself, again, I have all these high school teams that come to me, right?
43:11
SPEAKER_00: And a lot of those girls, that's a great way to introduce myself into hey, think about wanting to play Troy City.
43:18
SPEAKER_00: You know, like Troy, there's there's yeah, Troy High, there's a couple girls that are that are playing for me.
43:24
SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, I had uh Open Christian, there's a couple girls, uh, a girl that's playing for me.
43:30
SPEAKER_00: So there it's a good feeder system to get to know the girls, and they come to me, you know, with their teen trainings, and you know, so they get to they get to know me all year round and how I do things and how things go.
43:41
SPEAKER_00: So yeah.
43:42
SPEAKER_03: How long does it take your players to send out an email to a college coach?
43:48
SPEAKER_03: How long would it take to send out a hundred?
43:50
SPEAKER_03: This is what I have heard with athlete narrative.
43:53
SPEAKER_03: They have developed an with the help of AM to streamline the promises of.
44:00
SPEAKER_03: Of emailing coaches.
44:01
SPEAKER_03: Imagine being able to send an email to every single code that is in your upcoming showcase.
44:11
SPEAKER_03: You could email every single school with the help of every number.
44:18
SPEAKER_03: In the bottom, and you'll be able to email every single code in just minutes.
44:24
SPEAKER_03: Zennip your profile file, zen up your reading on the page, and just remember getting noticeed.
44:30
SPEAKER_03: Coaches aren't going to know you exist if you've never reached out.
44:34
SPEAKER_03: Get notice.
44:36
SPEAKER_03: And get 40% amount of views in the link in the description.
44:40
SPEAKER_03: This episode is brought to you by some limit.
44:42
SPEAKER_03: A couple weeks ago, I'm training one of my language players.
44:45
SPEAKER_03: She plays it in Tukhe.
44:47
SPEAKER_03: I noticed that she has one of these small bags.
44:54
SPEAKER_03: Okay, does this thing really work?
44:56
SPEAKER_03: Well, she opened up her blending political, and it was the worst mill improv pleasing.
45:03
SPEAKER_03: Maybe the versus mill.
45:07
SPEAKER_03: I think this is middle anything.
45:09
SPEAKER_03: And if it was amazing, then it could tramp in all of this mill.
45:14
SPEAKER_03: So then her blend doesn't stink.
45:17
SPEAKER_03: Then her colour doesn't stink.
45:19
SPEAKER_03: I can vouch for this problem more.
45:22
SPEAKER_03: As a goalkeeper, I would have had this 20 years ago to for my gloves, and they do have a glove bag.
45:28
SPEAKER_03: Go to the link in the description for 10% off and get rid of all the smell, guys.
45:35
SPEAKER_03: How how much is USL?
45:37
SPEAKER_03: W I remember?
45:40
SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
45:42
SPEAKER_00: Don't don't quote me on this, but I heard it's like$20 some thousand dollars to be involved in what with all the don't quote me on it.
45:51
SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
45:52
SPEAKER_03: I won't, but I because I have like this Michigan like big board that where I just wanted to I wanna moving home, I just want to talk to everybody.
46:03
SPEAKER_03: You know, I want to talk to all the UWS coaches, all the USL men, well the one USL men's team, the USL two, the USLW, everybody, because I just want to like show the landscape of Michigan and just what it looks like, and I'll end up finding that price, but 20,000.
46:22
SPEAKER_00: I believe so because what is it?
46:24
SPEAKER_03: Because you're paying for USL, that you're paying for that name.
46:27
SPEAKER_00: And it's a national thing, right?
46:28
SPEAKER_03: And you have to pay for the stadium, like you know, Atwood or down at DCFC or they're restricting or they're requiring locker rooms and yeah.
46:40
SPEAKER_00: So don't quote me on the price, but you know, it's got to be in the tens of thousands.
46:44
SPEAKER_03: It has to be.
46:45
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
46:46
SPEAKER_00: Oh, I agree with you.
46:47
SPEAKER_00: And with you know, with live streaming and all that other kind of stuff that have commentary with it and all the other stuff that goes behind it.
46:54
SPEAKER_00: It's like so when when UWS comes along and it's like that, and it's like, okay,$2,000 is not that much, you know, uh to be involved with that.
47:06
SPEAKER_03: I don't understand why more like training companies, like why doesn't next level put a team together?
47:11
SPEAKER_03: I think they did one year.
47:13
SPEAKER_03: Or why doesn't I uh if I stayed in Buffalo, maybe that would have been something that I did down the line because once I so I started training for in like 2015 and then right around 2021, 22, a lot of my players started going to college.
47:35
SPEAKER_03: And then I'm like, wait, how many players do I have in like D1, D2, D three?
47:40
SPEAKER_03: And it's like and then some uh some of the girls were like, it's kind of like what they did with you, they're like, why don't you start a team?
47:47
SPEAKER_03: I'm like, I don't want that headache because I knew the the I know the owner of FC Buffalo and I know that you know the struggles and like having all that and finding space and and it's expensive because you're they're it's not like they're giving you like a free field or anything like that.
48:06
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
48:08
SPEAKER_00: No, it it again it kind of morphed into that, right?
48:11
SPEAKER_00: It's the the trainings that I had and the girls that I had training since they were 15, 16, 17 year olds and they went off to college, and now this it's it's really exploded what the last five, ten years of this whole summer for the women's side, right?
48:25
SPEAKER_00: The men were ahead of the the game, but the women's side now it's like as you said, there's so many different leagues, right?
48:31
SPEAKER_00: So many different teams that you could play on in the summertime.
48:33
SPEAKER_00: It's like you did that five, ten years ago, they were just very limited.
48:37
SPEAKER_00: Now it's like it's all over the place.
48:40
SPEAKER_00: And uh so it's it's it's been great.
48:43
SPEAKER_00: It's you know, I again I wanted a place for the girls to to come, feel safe, have the right perspective on things, right?
48:49
SPEAKER_00: I'm I'm a guy that is play the game, you love it, have fun enjoying it.
48:55
SPEAKER_00: I I'm not gonna yell at you to make maybe make a mistake.
48:59
SPEAKER_00: This is for you, right?
49:01
SPEAKER_00: Summer league's for you.
49:02
SPEAKER_00: Go out there, be adventuresome, right?
49:04
SPEAKER_00: Take chances, take risks.
49:06
SPEAKER_00: What no your college coach is not going to come back to you in the summertime saying, What was your summer league record?
49:12
SPEAKER_00: What did you guys you know really?
49:14
SPEAKER_03: But they're gonna they are gonna say, What did you do this summer?
49:16
SPEAKER_00: Did you play did you play games?
49:17
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, did you play?
49:18
SPEAKER_03: Most college coaches want you to play games.
49:20
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, at some point.
49:22
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they will they they want you to be involved in something.
49:25
SPEAKER_00: Something.
49:25
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, whether it's training, but most of them they they say hey, find a summer league to play in.
49:30
SPEAKER_00: And uh, you know, because they obviously want them to be game ready and in shape and stay sharp.
49:36
unknown: Right.
49:36
SPEAKER_00: You know, so when they come back and now it's earlier and earlier, right?
49:40
SPEAKER_00: It's middle of July, end of July, they have to I think they move some of that up July 13th, yeah.
49:46
SPEAKER_03: And uh yeah.
49:48
SPEAKER_00: Some girls still go back, I think, and in it all depends on your division, I believe.
49:52
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, like if you're a power four, you're gone in May.
49:55
SPEAKER_00: I have a girl that's in the power or playing at Rice.
49:59
SPEAKER_00: Ava Lane Straw?
50:00
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
50:01
SPEAKER_00: She's on a gr she's on the west side.
50:04
SPEAKER_00: Um, she plays for DCFC as well.
50:06
SPEAKER_00: Um, but she's gonna be playing some games with us this summer as well.
50:10
SPEAKER_03: DCFC and the USLW.
50:13
SPEAKER_03: Okay.
50:13
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
50:14
SPEAKER_00: She started playing with them uh a year or two ago.
50:17
SPEAKER_00: Um, but I trained her.
50:18
SPEAKER_00: She came over here and did some trainings when she was about 16 years old.
50:22
SPEAKER_00: Says we don't have any kind of trainers on the west side at all, like that we can really connect with.
50:29
SPEAKER_03: Connect with and consistency.
50:31
SPEAKER_03: I think that's changing.
50:32
SPEAKER_03: I think it's popping up.
50:33
SPEAKER_03: But yeah, yeah, it is.
50:35
SPEAKER_00: But you know, but over here four or five a lot of technical trainers and yeah, supplemental so she so her mom saw me on online or on Instagram and said, you know, our kind of our philosophy is kind of meshed.
50:47
SPEAKER_00: Says uh you can Ava come on over and train?
50:50
SPEAKER_00: I said, Yeah, so she did some trainings here, got to know her, but she's going to Rice University.
50:56
SPEAKER_00: So, but you know, I think she has to leave by middle of June.
51:00
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
51:00
SPEAKER_00: Like second or third week in June.
51:02
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
51:02
SPEAKER_00: It's like, you know, and and some girls, they're already they're already at school.
51:07
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they can just stay.
51:09
SPEAKER_00: I have another girl that that graduated early and uh at from that goes at Oklahoma State.
51:15
SPEAKER_00: Okay.
51:16
SPEAKER_00: And she's she's already there at Oklahoma State.
51:18
SPEAKER_00: You know, she's doing their spring, you know, stuff.
51:21
SPEAKER_03: Graduated early, yeah.
51:22
SPEAKER_03: Graduated early and yeah, I have a girl at Wisconsin that did that.
51:26
SPEAKER_03: So um I mean Yeah.
51:31
SPEAKER_03: I mean, uh some of the colleges, like Nebraska, their entire team is required to stay, basically.
51:39
SPEAKER_03: They're they stay for summer school and then they're training together now that they get to start July 13th.
51:47
SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
51:47
SPEAKER_03: Just I mean, it makes sense, but it does.
51:50
SPEAKER_03: But it yeah when is your season when is your first game?
51:54
SPEAKER_03: May?
51:55
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, end of May.
51:57
SPEAKER_03: End of May, and then and then most games are in June, obviously, because you're done by July cutoff date.
52:02
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, the UWS has the uh 7th through the 9th is when the playoffs happen.
52:07
SPEAKER_00: And then the national playoffs are the 10th through the 14th.
52:11
SPEAKER_00: Because it used to be a little bit later.
52:12
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, end of July.
52:14
SPEAKER_03: University of Buffalo would cut off when their uh they would have a cutoff date of when their players are allowed, yeah, and it'd be right around playoff time, every single time.
52:24
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and so some of the best players weren't allowed.
52:27
SPEAKER_03: It's like, okay, you're only allowed to play 45 minutes this weekend.
52:31
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and it's like, okay, well, if you win game one, how am I gonna play game two?
52:35
SPEAKER_00: And it was just like they tried that's what they're trying to move that.
52:40
SPEAKER_00: That's why they just I think this year they're trying to move everything up.
52:42
SPEAKER_00: It's like you lose your best players.
52:44
SPEAKER_00: Yep.
52:44
SPEAKER_00: You know, like you know, the Jags, for instance, they they did win.
52:48
SPEAKER_00: I mean, they're usually the winners of the UWS the last few years.
52:52
SPEAKER_00: And you go to the national championship.
52:54
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
52:54
SPEAKER_00: And they go to the national championship game.
52:56
SPEAKER_00: Yep.
52:57
SPEAKER_00: And the last couple years they didn't have their core squad.
53:00
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, they're picking up, you know, some of the high school or something.
53:03
SPEAKER_00: Which is still still high quality, right?
53:05
SPEAKER_00: But but they don't have their college girls, they're all gone.
53:08
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and so it's like, all right, we need to move this up so you know, these girls can, you know, be involved with this as well.
53:15
SPEAKER_03: So how much uh does your sponsorships help?
53:19
SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
53:19
SPEAKER_03: With with some of the costs, you know, like I say be dubs.
53:23
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we have a we have a couple girls on our my team.
53:26
SPEAKER_00: Her dad, their dad is highly involved with Buffalo Wild Wings.
53:30
SPEAKER_00: Okay.
53:30
SPEAKER_00: So we were able to do that.
53:32
SPEAKER_00: Um Best Life is Trevor Foster from Romeo.
53:35
SPEAKER_00: He does real estate company, so he does that.
53:38
SPEAKER_00: And then Hard Rock Stone Stoneworks and Soccer World.
53:42
SPEAKER_00: Soccer World.
53:43
SPEAKER_00: Uh, I get all my stuff through Soccer World, all my uniforms, all that stuff.
53:46
SPEAKER_00: Uh they're great.
53:48
SPEAKER_03: Um who who runs Soccer World?
53:50
SPEAKER_03: I want to try to get them on.
53:52
SPEAKER_03: Um well I I I almost did like in December or something like that.
53:58
SPEAKER_03: But is that one person?
54:00
SPEAKER_00: Maya is the last name.
54:01
SPEAKER_00: Uh Alan runs the kind of the store out in Rochester Hills.
54:05
SPEAKER_00: Okay.
54:06
SPEAKER_00: And then um I can't remember the owner's name.
54:10
SPEAKER_00: It's like slipped in my mind.
54:12
SPEAKER_00: Uh but yeah, I can I can I can put a word in for you.
54:15
SPEAKER_03: Because that's another thing we don't have in Buffalo.
54:17
SPEAKER_03: We don't have a soccer store.
54:18
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
54:19
SPEAKER_03: There's everybody just has to go to Dick Sporting Goods.
54:22
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's it's great.
54:23
SPEAKER_00: I mean, they they you know, I don't get my jerseys and all that through them because it's I I know them.
54:28
SPEAKER_00: Right.
54:28
SPEAKER_00: If something's something's wrong.
54:30
SPEAKER_03: You've been going there for 20 years because I mean Georgia's gone.
54:33
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
54:34
SPEAKER_00: If something's wrong in my my my printing, I have someone to talk to instead of doing it online and then it ships to me.
54:39
SPEAKER_00: It's like exactly when you're talking to a customer service representative.
54:43
SPEAKER_00: It's like so.
54:44
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
54:44
SPEAKER_00: But uh yeah, they're great.
54:45
SPEAKER_00: But sponsorships help out a lot.
54:47
SPEAKER_00: It's uh keeps the costs low for the girls, and again offers that extra media day type of thing.
54:53
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you know, because Buffalo Wildings kind of sponsor that and um and then you know the CrossFit sessions and everything else that kind of goes along with that.
55:02
SPEAKER_03: So uh what's your with your training company?
55:12
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, what is it like uh like right now we're in the first week of April.
55:17
SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
55:18
SPEAKER_03: What's what's your schedule like?
55:20
SPEAKER_00: I have slow periods during May and April.
55:24
SPEAKER_03: What about September?
55:25
SPEAKER_03: Is that slow too?
55:26
SPEAKER_00: September, October.
55:28
SPEAKER_03: Right?
55:29
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, because the high school and and and club and club schedules are insane.
55:34
SPEAKER_03: I remember when I was in in the club game, yeah.
55:36
SPEAKER_03: I just remember looking at my calendar in April and May and just being like, yeah, what am I doing?
55:41
SPEAKER_03: What am I doing?
55:43
SPEAKER_03: What's good?
55:43
SPEAKER_03: How am I going to get three teams?
55:45
SPEAKER_03: And I was like, Yeah.
55:47
SPEAKER_00: Because a lot again, a lot of my again, transferring over to just Detroit City Women's Soccer Academy, which is all girls now, right?
55:54
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, my trainings, it's high school season for girls.
55:58
SPEAKER_00: So yeah, I have to um my main clientele right now is I'm trying to get that like the 10 to 12 to 12 to 14 year old.
56:05
SPEAKER_00: Middle school, elementary school.
56:06
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so that's in that's that time of year right now.
56:09
SPEAKER_00: It's kind of like the in-between.
56:11
SPEAKER_00: Um same thing in September and October.
56:13
SPEAKER_00: You know, it's such a busy time for a lot of girls, and their yeah, their club season starts in August and things like that.
56:19
SPEAKER_00: But uh summer's crazy in here with my summer trainings.
56:23
SPEAKER_00: I don't do camps or anything like that.
56:25
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I just do the same kind of format where they come once a week for an hour and a half.
56:29
SPEAKER_00: Yeah um you can do two sessions in a week or you do one, but you know, and it's a six-week period.
56:35
SPEAKER_00: So you train consistently over the six weeks instead of doing a camp where you come for three hours and it's like you know, and I don't particularly like the camp situation as much because after the first hour, the kids are kind of like checked out.
56:50
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so it's hot out and it's in the summer, hot and they're dead already.
56:55
SPEAKER_03: It's like it's great for parents.
56:57
SPEAKER_03: We've been here 45 minutes.
56:58
SPEAKER_03: I just started, I was just like you, I I was anti-camp.
57:02
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and then two years ago, maybe three years ago now, three years ago, we're like, you know what, let's just bite the bull, let's just see.
57:10
SPEAKER_03: And then it became like really enjoyable, but you're right.
57:16
SPEAKER_03: A lot of it, I started out doing three.
57:19
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that was way too much.
57:20
SPEAKER_03: Then I did two this year.
57:22
SPEAKER_03: I'm only doing one, yeah, and because but it's gonna be back in Buffalo, and you're right.
57:27
SPEAKER_00: There's a there's a place for it.
57:29
SPEAKER_00: I don't if it's done right, right?
57:31
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you have to have the the right people in place and things like that.
57:33
SPEAKER_00: So I'm not totally anti-camp.
57:36
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, because I think I'm gonna be talking about both sides of my mouth because I think I'm gonna be doing some some stuff with MDA this summer.
57:43
SPEAKER_00: Okay.
57:44
SPEAKER_00: Doing some camps and things like that.
57:45
SPEAKER_00: But you know, and the Troy City Girls, I asked them if they're available to come, so it's kind of a cool thing to get them involved and be presence there through the camp.
57:54
SPEAKER_00: So we're that's in negotiations and talks right now.
57:57
SPEAKER_00: But so I'm not anti-camp, but I just felt that you know, you get the most bang for your buck when you can fit 15 kids in here.
58:05
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, all these touches for an hour and a half is equivalent to I don't know how many hours of being in the camp, you know, four a day.
58:13
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I am very anti-all-day camps.
58:15
SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
58:16
SPEAKER_03: I'd like the three hours.
58:18
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, three or four hours.
58:19
SPEAKER_03: That's my wheelhouse.
58:20
SPEAKER_03: And we take like a half an hour of lunch.
58:22
SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
58:22
SPEAKER_03: Unless it's an overnight camp.
58:25
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I believe in those.
58:26
SPEAKER_03: Like camp shutout in Wisconsin.
58:29
SPEAKER_00: Those uh, but that's like oh, Grand Valley runs a great camp.
58:31
SPEAKER_00: You know, all the I mean, yeah, there's a ton of girls.
58:33
SPEAKER_00: Like Hope runs a great camp.
58:35
SPEAKER_00: They yeah, they do they do a great job, and it's great.
58:38
SPEAKER_00: I mean, the girls get all excited about going and seeing the campus.
58:41
SPEAKER_03: What are you doing here when like let's say yeah, you have 15 players, what is your sessions like?
58:49
SPEAKER_03: What uh what is your training like?
58:51
SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, I do a little bit of ball mastery.
58:54
SPEAKER_00: Um I my biggest thing when I train is first touch, passing and receiving, and awareness.
59:01
SPEAKER_00: Um so we do work on ball mastery, you know, skill moves and things like that, you know, for the first few 15 minutes, whatever.
59:09
SPEAKER_00: But most of my session is involved in either um passing and receiving, combination drills, um wondering how to receive the ball, you know, preparing your body shape and all that kind of stuff.
59:22
SPEAKER_00: Because if you don't have a first touch, you basically that nothing else matters after that.
59:26
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I don't care if you're the best dribbler in the world, but if you have the worst first touch in the world, you can't dribble.
59:32
SPEAKER_00: Right.
59:32
SPEAKER_00: You don't have the ball, you just give it away to the other team.
59:34
SPEAKER_02: Right.
59:35
SPEAKER_00: So my big thing is just, you know, obviously everybody works on it, like scanning, you know, body, body position, all that kind of stuff.
59:42
SPEAKER_00: So we just constantly repetition, repetition, repetition.
59:44
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and then you know, correct things.
59:46
SPEAKER_00: You it's a it's amazing to me, even the highest level players, how they don't receive with their back foot three quarters of the time.
59:53
SPEAKER_00: Right.
59:53
SPEAKER_00: It's like, well, you're not, and I and I tell the girls, I said it all is about the preparation before the ball comes to you.
59:59
SPEAKER_00: Your body shape sets up everything.
1:00:01
SPEAKER_03: If you're and you're allowed to play so much quicker if you just do that, and and if you're two-footed, like if it's coming into your right, then you can play out with your left.
1:00:10
SPEAKER_03: But if you're just always taking an open touch or always the outside foot touch, it's like you just went right back to where it just came from.
1:00:20
SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
1:00:20
SPEAKER_00: And my big thing is you're not passing to a person, you're passing to their feet.
1:00:26
SPEAKER_00: The correct foot.
1:00:27
SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
1:00:27
SPEAKER_00: Right.
1:00:28
SPEAKER_00: So, you know, I'm not passing to so-and-so there, but where where am I passing it to make that person successful?
1:00:33
SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
1:00:34
SPEAKER_03: And it's and your pass is actually non-verbal communication.
1:00:38
SPEAKER_03: Like if you're set up like this, yeah, if you play my right foot, you're telling me that I should turn.
1:00:44
SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
1:00:45
SPEAKER_03: If you play my left foot, you're telling me that you want the ball back because I must have somebody on me.
1:00:50
SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
1:00:51
SPEAKER_03: And that's just layers and there's levels to the game that like that honestly, sadly, a lot of people don't really understand.
1:01:01
SPEAKER_03: Or it's taught or it's not, or it's lost, or everything is team tactics now.
1:01:06
SPEAKER_03: I got a message.
1:01:07
SPEAKER_03: I got a message from a parent right now.
1:01:11
SPEAKER_03: They're in Europe.
1:01:14
SPEAKER_03: Sun Sun is is on trial for uh just a club out there because they're fed up with the American system, you know, the youth system.
1:01:27
SPEAKER_03: And the sessions they say is like uh I had a ball at my feet 70% of the time.
1:01:33
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and I'm not waiting in lines, and I'm always moving, and I'm always and I always have a ball at my feet.
1:01:40
SPEAKER_03: Versus American way, it's like, okay, we're gonna do pattern player, we're gonna build out of the back, we're gonna, you know, pass a hundred times in our own box, and it's like that's what it's become, and the technical development is lost, especially in your working with mostly older girls.
1:01:58
SPEAKER_03: When is in my experience running a training company is my busiest age groups are like nine to twelve, and then there's a gap, and then they all come back at like 15, 16, 17.
1:02:15
SPEAKER_03: But that 13, 14, and maybe 15 age group, they all leave because they don't think that they need it anymore.
1:02:22
SPEAKER_03: They think that like it's it's I can rely on my club and I can rely, I need to work on my physical strength and not my technical touch.
1:02:29
SPEAKER_03: But then once they get ready to go to college, it's like, oh, I need to sharpen up.
1:02:34
SPEAKER_03: I need to sharpen up back to where uh what made me the player that I was, and then now I'm coming back to the technical training and and the repetition and just sharpening everything.
1:02:44
SPEAKER_00: I I think the I think the biggest thing too I see is is a lot of people do not how to create space.
1:02:54
SPEAKER_00: Right?
1:02:54
SPEAKER_00: So when we I we go back to my trainings, we do that and we do a lot of passing, and then we do game situations here 4v4, 5v5.
1:03:02
SPEAKER_00: So the team stays on, and then the team's off to the side, so if you score, you stay on.
1:03:05
SPEAKER_00: And so the game is you know going back to Coach Hugh, Todd Hughes says the game is the best teacher.
1:03:13
SPEAKER_00: You know, so I just let them play.
1:03:15
SPEAKER_00: You know, I might interrupt them and say, hey, you know, whatever.
1:03:18
SPEAKER_00: But that's my time to watch, right?
1:03:20
SPEAKER_00: And then I to watch the girls off the ball.
1:03:24
SPEAKER_00: That's what that's my favorite thing to do.
1:03:26
SPEAKER_00: Because a lot of them are just they don't know how to move.
1:03:30
SPEAKER_00: They don't know, okay, if I make this run into this space here, it doesn't I can make that run 30, 40 times in a game as a striker.
1:03:38
SPEAKER_00: I might not get the ball maybe maybe two two or three times.
1:03:40
SPEAKER_00: But when you're doing your job, you're creating space somewhere else for them.
1:03:43
SPEAKER_00: And when I see it in here, uh it's like I gotta move.
1:03:47
SPEAKER_00: Okay, you finally have to pocket this space.
1:03:50
SPEAKER_00: When you pass the ball, your job's not done.
1:03:52
SPEAKER_00: Right?
1:03:53
SPEAKER_00: When you pass it, action after an action, you have to move and either whatever you know, be an op you know, be an option for that person again, or again move the ball quickly and create space and then so that person gets into that space.
1:04:06
SPEAKER_00: I say see space, find space.
1:04:11
SPEAKER_03: And um my favorite thing to do in a space like this, maybe a little bit smaller, but I let them play and I see how clustered they are.
1:04:24
SPEAKER_03: And if they're playing 3v3, 4v4, 5v5, I go, how big is this space?
1:04:29
SPEAKER_03: And they all say, Man, it's small.
1:04:31
SPEAKER_03: And I go, Okay, everybody go against that wall, that wall, that wall, or this wall.
1:04:40
SPEAKER_03: And I go, I'll go, okay, how big is this space?
1:04:44
SPEAKER_03: And like, oh, yeah, this place is huge.
1:04:47
SPEAKER_03: I was like, Yeah, because you guys are all making it small, but it's actually a very big space for the numbers that we're playing.
1:04:54
SPEAKER_03: I can hear 5v5.
1:04:56
SPEAKER_03: This is big this is actually pretty big for a 5v5.
1:04:59
SPEAKER_03: You could probably fit comfortably in a 6v6 in here if you wanted to.
1:05:03
SPEAKER_03: But and I'm sure you see it all the time that like especially maybe with the high school or where it's like do you realize how much space there is?
1:05:13
SPEAKER_00: And this transitions over to the main game, right?
1:05:15
SPEAKER_00: It's like on the field itself, you do have these pockets where you're playing, you see it all the time at professionals.
1:05:21
SPEAKER_00: Like you they're they're in a uh basically a rondo on the side, right?
1:05:25
SPEAKER_00: Like 4v4 or 4 or odd whatever, and then how do you get out of that situation?
1:05:29
SPEAKER_00: Right.
1:05:29
SPEAKER_00: And it's in here as well, right?
1:05:31
SPEAKER_00: We're in tight spaces, boom, boom, boom, boom.
1:05:33
SPEAKER_00: How do we get out of it?
1:05:33
SPEAKER_00: And then we play maybe the ball a little bit longer, right?
1:05:36
SPEAKER_00: Or switch the field to the other side.
1:05:38
SPEAKER_00: So that is you know something we kind of you know, we just kind of work on and just go over and over and over again.
1:05:43
SPEAKER_03: And everybody says, Oh, well, we don't develop creative players and you know, we need big space to train in.
1:05:49
SPEAKER_03: W I I I I disagree.
1:05:51
SPEAKER_03: We d I don't know that we do lack creative players.
1:05:55
SPEAKER_03: What we do lack is being able to operate in tight spaces.
1:05:59
SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
1:06:00
SPEAKER_03: Uh we always work on the building out of the back, but do we work on build like being able to break down an organized block of eight or you know just a bunkered defense?
1:06:11
SPEAKER_03: We don't.
1:06:12
SPEAKER_03: We've never been a country that can do that, not on the men's side and the women's side, I feel.
1:06:16
SPEAKER_03: And we're and everybody wants an 11v11 field to train on.
1:06:20
SPEAKER_03: It's like, no, we need to reverse it.
1:06:22
SPEAKER_03: We need to work on the final third in a space that's the final third.
1:06:26
SPEAKER_03: And that's I mean, it's pretty close to what this is.
1:06:29
SPEAKER_03: I mean, this is like an 18-yard box.
1:06:31
SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
1:06:32
SPEAKER_00: But um That's one of the games won and loss is in those tight spaces, right?
1:06:36
SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
1:06:37
SPEAKER_00: How do you get out of it?
1:06:38
SPEAKER_00: Well, yeah, either you can lose the ball or you know how to move the ball out of those tight spaces.
1:06:42
SPEAKER_03: Right.
1:06:42
SPEAKER_03: And some coaches think that they can script the game, like, okay, if you get the ball here, you go here, here, or here.
1:06:49
SPEAKER_03: It's like, well, okay, yeah, you can yell at the guy that's on the ball or the girl that's on the ball, but nobody was open here, nobody was open here.
1:06:58
SPEAKER_03: Okay, now I gotta solve this problem on my own.
1:07:00
SPEAKER_03: Can I do it?
1:07:01
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and a lot of kids can't.
1:07:03
SPEAKER_03: No.
1:07:04
SPEAKER_03: So what they do is like if they don't have an option, yeah, they kick it.
1:07:08
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
1:07:09
SPEAKER_00: I told them that's the easiest thing for you to do, right?
1:07:11
SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
1:07:12
SPEAKER_00: I said it's it's just you just have to know what you're gonna be doing before the ball comes to you, right?
1:07:20
SPEAKER_00: And have an idea.
1:07:21
SPEAKER_00: And and I I tell I tell the girls all the time, I said, your coach might tell you play one touch, play two touch, or whatever, get out of the situation.
1:07:30
SPEAKER_00: And I'm telling you, your pass is gonna dictate dictate what you're going to do with it.
1:07:36
SPEAKER_00: Right.
1:07:37
SPEAKER_00: The pressure is gonna dictate what you're gonna do with it.
1:07:39
SPEAKER_00: You might play one touch, you might play two touch, you might turn and go.
1:07:42
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
1:07:43
SPEAKER_00: So I'm not when they come in here, I said, that pass is gonna dictate how you're going to move the ball.
1:07:50
SPEAKER_00: I said, I'm telling you, we'd like to do everything one touch in a drill, maybe.
1:07:54
SPEAKER_00: But if you need to take a second touch, don't let the drill break down because you're making a one-touch pass and and it's giving away to the other team.
1:08:02
SPEAKER_00: Control.
1:08:03
SPEAKER_00: Give it give it to your feet and then continue.
1:08:06
SPEAKER_00: Right?
1:08:06
SPEAKER_00: Don't pass the problem on, pass the solution.
1:08:09
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
1:08:10
SPEAKER_00: You know, don't, don't, don't, you know, and they're like, yeah, my coach, he's always telling us I said don't we want to play quick, but not in a hurry.
1:08:21
SPEAKER_03: Right.
1:08:22
SPEAKER_03: Calmly but quickly.
1:08:23
SPEAKER_03: That's what Anson Dorans usually say.
1:08:25
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, when when you're when you're playing in uh quick, you kind of understand the game.
1:08:30
SPEAKER_00: You see a two, three plays down the line.
1:08:33
SPEAKER_00: When you're in a hurry, it's like everything's frantic, everything's like at fast pace.
1:08:38
SPEAKER_00: So we want to get to you get to the point where we're playing quick, which means all the other stuff we're talking about, like preparing the ball and and knowing and watching the game.
1:08:48
SPEAKER_00: Well, the best thing is about watching the game, right?
1:08:50
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
1:08:51
SPEAKER_00: I'm a big I watch a ton of soccer.
1:08:53
SPEAKER_00: So when I do trains in here, when I see game girls play, I can see the what is going to happen two or three plays down the line, or what should happen two plays.
1:09:04
SPEAKER_00: Because I've seen it over and over and over again in the English Premier League or MLS or whatever it is.
1:09:10
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
1:09:10
SPEAKER_00: You see the you see the passing pattern and you see, okay, the ball goes there, mate, lay it off, there's a third man around the outside, and we play the ball.
1:09:18
SPEAKER_00: Girls don't see or players, young players, young young players don't watch enough games.
1:09:23
SPEAKER_00: No.
1:09:24
SPEAKER_00: To know that.
1:09:25
SPEAKER_03: I also think that it's because we are we are walking and we are standing.
1:09:31
SPEAKER_03: What was the okay, when Messi got here, a young 20-year-old player asked Messi for advice.
1:09:39
SPEAKER_03: He's like, Well, when you watch me play, like, what do you think I should do?
1:09:42
SPEAKER_03: Like, what you know, to make it, you know, to your level someday.
1:09:47
SPEAKER_03: And Messi goes, walk more because you see more.
1:09:51
SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
1:09:52
SPEAKER_03: And sometimes I feel like we are just run, run, run, run, run, run, run.
1:09:56
SPEAKER_03: Once we get, we're gonna be very patient in our buildup.
1:09:59
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, but then once we get to about half, how quickly can we score?
1:10:03
SPEAKER_03: And it's like just like we rely on running, running, running.
1:10:07
SPEAKER_03: I had one of my my assistant coach, one of the best players out of Buffalo in the last 15 years, she went and played professionally in Norway.
1:10:16
SPEAKER_03: One of the first things she's a forward up top, kill her in front of goal.
1:10:21
SPEAKER_03: One of the first things the coaches said to her, you run too much.
1:10:26
SPEAKER_03: Just walk and the game will come to you.
1:10:29
SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
1:10:29
SPEAKER_03: And it's like that we're taught like, oh, if I'm not running, I'm not working.
1:10:35
SPEAKER_03: And it's like, it's not like that.
1:10:37
SPEAKER_00: No, it's a it's it's a it's a game of stopping, starting, finding your pockets of space, breathing, breathing, relaxing, right?
1:10:45
SPEAKER_00: It's like there are so many kids out there that are like 100 miles an hour and they don't know how to slow down.
1:10:51
SPEAKER_00: Right.
1:10:51
SPEAKER_00: And they can't think three steps ahead because they're not thinking.
1:10:56
SPEAKER_00: No, as you say, unless he like he's so calm on the ball, right?
1:10:59
SPEAKER_00: Because he knows what's gonna happen two or three plays down the line.
1:11:04
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and he's able to manipulate a defender better than obviously anybody in the world, and it's like, but he that's him just seeing the game and just knowing and knowing patterns and knowing what this defender's gonna do.
1:11:17
SPEAKER_03: And it's not because it's he studied that defender, it's because he knows the game.
1:11:21
SPEAKER_03: And he just every defender is gonna do what this guy does, so it's like you know, it kind of goes back to watching the game, yeah.
1:11:28
SPEAKER_00: You know, again, uh even this making sound funny, but even playing FIFA, like kids, kids playing FIFA, they know the tactic.
1:11:35
SPEAKER_00: My son played FIFA uh quite a bit, and he learned a lot because of there's moving off the ball.
1:11:42
SPEAKER_00: How do you you know control the I think I think there's a lot to that?
1:11:45
SPEAKER_03: I think I think soccer IQ has improved because of FIFA and FIFA improving.
1:11:50
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, what is it?
1:11:52
SPEAKER_03: I I don't think it was soccer.
1:11:54
SPEAKER_03: Some what was the quarterback?
1:11:57
SPEAKER_03: Uh Jaden Daniels, NFL, Washington uh Commanders, he does virtual reality training where it's just like and he's you know picking uh picking out receivers and being able to see the blitzes and stuff like that.
1:12:10
SPEAKER_03: And it's like that's soccer, that's that's FIFA, yeah, and it's the same type of thing, and it's just being around the game, you know, and that's in our culture.
1:12:19
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
1:12:20
SPEAKER_00: I i that's the biggest thing.
1:12:21
SPEAKER_00: I said, you know, when the kids come, I said, uh, you know, after they leave and the parents ask what they can do to to you know, improve on or whatever.
1:12:29
SPEAKER_00: I said, is I said the first thing is I ask is are they watching the game?
1:12:33
SPEAKER_00: Do they watch their position?
1:12:35
SPEAKER_00: Do they understand movement off the ball?
1:12:38
SPEAKER_00: And then we can learn, you know, how to receive the ball and and work on the the technical side.
1:12:45
SPEAKER_00: But movement off the ball, it's it's that's something you have to look and visualize and see and how my action, as you said, you know, creates another action down the line.
1:12:56
SPEAKER_00: How is this gonna be profitable for my team, you know, in the final third or wherever?
1:13:01
SPEAKER_00: It's just you know, I said, are you watching the game?
1:13:03
SPEAKER_00: You know, they need to watch to see their position and how things open up and how things just kind of evolve.
1:13:10
SPEAKER_00: Um you know, I can again work on all the tactics or the technical stuff in here and I can do that over and over, but it's just just the movement off the ball is just like you have to watch the players.
1:13:22
SPEAKER_03: I think when I'm watching young women play, almost always they're not providing enough width.
1:13:32
SPEAKER_03: They're tug they're making the field too small, like like w we said earlier.
1:13:37
SPEAKER_03: And it's just like if you just back up and if you watch the highest, highest, highest level of players, I always love sitting behind goal because then I can see the entire field and I've seen the patterns of the wide players.
1:13:51
SPEAKER_03: I don't care about being at half field and just seeing this.
1:13:54
SPEAKER_03: I want to see behind and just see this.
1:13:57
SPEAKER_03: And the best wide players, they have their heels on the touchline and they're moving sideways on.
1:14:05
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, whereas you young, especially female players for some reason, they're always tucked in 10 probably 10 yards too much, and then they're always chasing a ball out of bounds.
1:14:17
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and it's like if you have to if you're chasing a ball out of bounds to keep it from going out of bounds, that means you're tucked in too much.
1:14:24
SPEAKER_03: And it's like what you were saying about space and and just watching the game and knowing where you are.
1:14:31
SPEAKER_03: How how do you know you're that you're open?
1:14:34
SPEAKER_03: How do you know that there's space?
1:14:36
SPEAKER_03: You look around and you're like, oh, I can back up.
1:14:40
SPEAKER_03: And to how often do you see a player like that's trying to ping a ball to the wide player and it goes over their head?
1:14:48
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, but they have five more yards.
1:14:50
SPEAKER_03: If you were just on the if you were just on the touchline, you would have just been able to butt that down out of the air.
1:14:55
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
1:14:57
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's just this it can be frustrating at times, but you know, that's just I don't think I don't know.
1:15:04
SPEAKER_00: They have so many other things that they're doing away from soccer that you know they don't think it's too highly important for them to watch the game, you know.
1:15:15
SPEAKER_00: Like I said, the World Cup's coming up, or there's NWSL games on all the time.
1:15:20
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you could be watching the game and and kind of doing that, but you know, there's other things that they are nowadays, right?
1:15:27
SPEAKER_03: It's like Yeah, my my assistant coach, she would say, Yeah, I don't really watch men's soccer because I don't relate to it.
1:15:35
SPEAKER_03: And it's like But then when the 2022 World Cup in Qatar came around, she's like, Oh, I'm really into it now.
1:15:43
SPEAKER_03: It's because you're coaching and you're trying, uh you're looking at it as a you no, you didn't relate to it because you were looking at the game as a player, but now you're looking at the game as a coach, and now you can you're opening up your different eyes, your vision.
1:15:59
SPEAKER_00: It's like a totally different animal, right?
1:16:01
SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
1:16:01
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
1:16:02
SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
1:16:03
SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
1:16:04
SPEAKER_03: Is your training with the women a lot like what you're doing with your training company?
1:16:09
SPEAKER_03: Is it the exact same philosophy and same same thing, repetition technical?
1:16:14
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
1:16:14
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
1:16:14
SPEAKER_00: When we do it at evolution, yeah.
1:16:16
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, when we do it at evolution on on when we have that space, yeah, you know, full field type of job.
1:16:21
SPEAKER_00: Do you try to play 11v11 as much as possible?
1:16:24
SPEAKER_00: We do.
1:16:24
SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, uh, we we do some technical passing and things like that, but I want to use that time for them to either play against each other, um, and maybe work on some set pieces and things like that.
1:16:35
SPEAKER_00: But you know, you don't have a lot of time.
1:16:37
SPEAKER_00: You have an hour and a half, you know, a half there, uh, a week on an open field.
1:16:43
SPEAKER_00: So, you know, we use that time.
1:16:46
SPEAKER_00: And some girls can only come on that time, you know.
1:16:48
SPEAKER_00: So I want them, I want them to get some kind of touches in, game realistic type of deal with touches and things like that.
1:16:55
SPEAKER_00: But um, yeah, so in here we we will do a lot more of the the technical training and a lot of touches on the ball.
1:17:04
SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
1:17:04
SPEAKER_03: Do you um when you're at evolution, do you have the entire place?
1:17:10
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, entire bubble?
1:17:11
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
1:17:12
SPEAKER_00: It's nice, it's it's a uh it's a good space, and um again, having a morning time is is is uh beneficial to to grab those girls that either work in the afternoon or have something going on.
1:17:28
SPEAKER_00: Classes or something, summer classes, so uh, and then having an evening time frame in here you know helps with some girls that maybe work during the day, and then they can come here in the evenings um and train.
1:17:39
SPEAKER_03: So is evolution your home base or your home field this year?
1:17:44
SPEAKER_03: Or what are you or is it up in the air?
1:17:46
SPEAKER_00: I do have games scheduled there, um, but I'm working with hoping Troy or Athens is gonna be ready.
1:17:52
SPEAKER_00: I'm working with the the Troy uh A.
1:17:54
SPEAKER_00: Where are they playing their high school?
1:17:57
SPEAKER_00: They're still playing there.
1:17:58
SPEAKER_00: The situation is Oh, they're doing the tracks.
1:18:01
SPEAKER_00: They're doing well, they're doing a track at the at Troy High.
1:18:04
SPEAKER_00: They did the track at Athens last year.
1:18:07
SPEAKER_00: Got it.
1:18:07
SPEAKER_00: They do have two aux fields, two auxiliary fields, which are not right, or they turf now.
1:18:12
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, well that was part of the bond.
1:18:14
SPEAKER_00: I haven't been over there in a while.
1:18:15
SPEAKER_00: It's part of the bond that they did in in Troy that both of them have beautiful turf fields, aux fields.
1:18:21
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and so that is an option to be playing on.
1:18:24
SPEAKER_00: Um, so I'm working on you know getting some time.
1:18:28
SPEAKER_00: The thing working with the schools is they give first priority, obviously, to the spring season and their camps and all that kind of stuff.
1:18:35
SPEAKER_00: Yep.
1:18:36
SPEAKER_00: And so, but a lot of our games are on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights, and I don't think they have too much stuff going on at on those fields at that time.
1:18:43
SPEAKER_00: So do you guys charge a cover charge for getting in?
1:18:47
SPEAKER_00: Uh, we do not.
1:18:48
SPEAKER_03: Have you ever thought about that?
1:18:49
SPEAKER_03: Yes.
1:18:52
SPEAKER_00: To cover the the cost of the rental the field, right?
1:18:54
SPEAKER_03: It's yeah, I think uh I think it's something now.
1:18:57
SPEAKER_03: People would be like, I can't believe they're charging for us, but but I I'm kind of where do you think that money's going?
1:19:03
SPEAKER_00: I I have a kind of a beef with high school, you know, they're they they've raised the prices to like seven dollars to get into a game now.
1:19:13
SPEAKER_01: Really?
1:19:13
SPEAKER_00: It's like I remember a couple years ago it was five dollars, and now it's seven dollars, and then you go to a district final or you go to a playoffs, it's like nine, ten dollars to get into a game.
1:19:22
SPEAKER_00: Right.
1:19:23
SPEAKER_00: And I understand that they they use that money to go back into the program.
1:19:27
SPEAKER_00: The program, the program, which is great, but you know, it's it's starting to get a little bit more and more and more, and then like I'm paying seven dollars now.
1:19:35
SPEAKER_03: What I what I don't understand is how colleges don't charge.
1:19:38
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's like I've like everybody's crazy about you know the college landscape and everything, and and they're showing the financials of all these programs that are in the red.
1:19:49
SPEAKER_03: It's like, well, it's free to get in.
1:19:52
SPEAKER_03: Maybe if you charged five bucks a ticket, you'd make yeah, maybe a little bit closer to even.
1:19:58
SPEAKER_03: I don't understand.
1:19:59
SPEAKER_00: A lot of our a lot of people that come to our games though, are parents and family.
1:20:03
SPEAKER_00: So it's like, all right, I want them to come.
1:20:06
SPEAKER_00: I don't want them to have to pay another five dollars or they're bringing somebody to to come.
1:20:10
SPEAKER_00: It's like, you know, I just feel kind of like it's I don't want to put that out out of pressure on them to to pay for that.
1:20:18
SPEAKER_03: But are do any of the teams have like really good fan bases or any crazy fan bases?
1:20:24
SPEAKER_00: No, uh pretty pretty low-key.
1:20:26
SPEAKER_00: I mean, even you know, the Jags and things like that.
1:20:29
SPEAKER_00: It's just they they play they play their game, I think they're playing their games at North Farmington High School this this this summer.
1:20:35
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
1:20:35
SPEAKER_00: And then they used to play out of uh Wixham.
1:20:38
SPEAKER_00: Yep.
1:20:38
SPEAKER_00: So it's not like it's again friends and family that show up, you know.
1:20:42
SPEAKER_00: Um, they don't, it's not like a DCFC game where you had tailgating and all that kind of stuff.
1:20:51
SPEAKER_03: It's polling and then walk to the stadium.
1:20:54
SPEAKER_00: All I want, all I want, and all I want for the girls is I want to just games for them to play in the summertime and just kind of a same kind of relaxed atmosphere between the coaches and just say, hey, this is for them.
1:21:07
SPEAKER_00: You know, this is this is for them.
1:21:08
SPEAKER_00: It's not like we need to have a stadium packed full of you know supporters or anything like that.
1:21:16
SPEAKER_00: It's right, you know, maybe down the line as this grows and more and more.
1:21:20
SPEAKER_00: And yeah, you know, I never say never to be in like a USLW or anything like that, but it's it's not my you know, my goal right now.
1:21:29
SPEAKER_00: My goal is uh this is a nice sweet spot um for the players.
1:21:34
SPEAKER_00: And uh it takes a lot more work than just having me be in charge of everything.
1:21:39
SPEAKER_00: I mean, if I went to the USLW, it's like I need a group of budget too.
1:21:44
SPEAKER_00: I need a budget and you need you need all this kind of stuff when it's just you know, again, it's just me.
1:21:50
SPEAKER_00: Right.
1:21:50
SPEAKER_00: Um, it's much more easier to handle and to which is still a lot, you know, when you're dealing with 60 girls' schedules.
1:21:59
SPEAKER_03: How many girls are you gonna have now with just two teams?
1:22:03
SPEAKER_03: Is it still 60?
1:22:04
SPEAKER_00: Still sixty.
1:22:05
SPEAKER_00: Um again, I'm I'm working on doing uh more friendlies.
1:22:08
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
1:22:09
SPEAKER_00: So maybe get three or four, even five friendlies.
1:22:12
SPEAKER_00: You don't think it's gonna be thirty games this year?
1:22:15
SPEAKER_00: Don't tell my wife.
1:22:18
SPEAKER_00: But um no, you know, we have you know the the eight to ten games with the UWS and then with the UPSLW, um hopefully we'll get another you know eight games in there, and then we you know mix in some friendlies, three or four.
1:22:32
SPEAKER_00: So if you get you know 20 games is a lot of games.
1:22:34
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you know, some again, some of these great some of these some of these teams only played the eight games, and that's it.
1:22:40
SPEAKER_00: Like who was it, Ava that played or uh DCFC, yeah, and then Bridget plays like 20 and then Kottmeyer plays like 25.
1:22:48
SPEAKER_00: Whenever it's it's like whenever they can, you know, it's you know, they don't they have a lot of other commitments outside of their you know summer teams as well, you know.
1:22:58
SPEAKER_00: Um but yeah, I again I have girls, some 20, 25 games, and again, some girls play five, six.
1:23:06
SPEAKER_00: Um you know, so you know the national girls that are on my team, some of the girls that play on some of the ECNL nationals, they they might have uh club commitments that go into the summertime with playoffs and things like that.
1:23:18
SPEAKER_00: But um that's why we I love having the opportunity for them to have more games when you're just pigeon-holed into eight games and you're and they're it's it's basically over by the end of June.
1:23:31
SPEAKER_00: Right.
1:23:32
SPEAKER_00: It's like they don't have the opportunity to play in hard game, any of those games.
1:23:36
SPEAKER_03: I played I played in four games, I played 20 minutes a game.
1:23:39
SPEAKER_00: It might be on the roster, right?
1:23:41
SPEAKER_00: But how many games did you actually play in?
1:23:43
SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
1:23:44
SPEAKER_00: It's like, yeah.
1:23:46
SPEAKER_00: So it's uh so when you have more games, more opportunities for the girls, it's it it gives them a little bit more freedom to do that.
1:23:52
SPEAKER_03: If anybody sees this and and she's a 19-year-old freshman or something like that somewhere, are you able to take any more players on or are you I'm pretty out pretty much maxed at this point, but what I do offer is a training.
1:24:10
SPEAKER_00: I offer training positions.
1:24:12
SPEAKER_00: Got it.
1:24:12
SPEAKER_00: So if you you know, some of the girls that come to the tryouts, they weren't able to be on the one of the roster spots.
1:24:20
SPEAKER_00: Right.
1:24:21
SPEAKER_00: But I still want them to be a part of the program.
1:24:23
SPEAKER_00: So I offer them training positions.
1:24:25
SPEAKER_00: So in the summertime, you get the same benefits of anybody else.
1:24:29
SPEAKER_00: It's just that you not guaranteed games.
1:24:31
SPEAKER_00: You're guaranteed you can come to trainings or train with the group.
1:24:35
SPEAKER_00: Uh whatever.
1:24:36
SPEAKER_03: If you're Mia Ham, you'll probably say, Okay, yeah, we'll we'll try to get you out of field.
1:24:42
SPEAKER_00: It all depends.
1:24:43
SPEAKER_00: I mean, going back to your question, it all depends on who the person is asking to be on the team.
1:24:47
SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
1:24:48
SPEAKER_03: No, I I want to try Trinity Robin.
1:24:50
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, you can't.
1:24:51
SPEAKER_03: We got a squat for you.
1:24:52
SPEAKER_00: I want to be fair for everybody.
1:24:54
SPEAKER_00: And in my philosophy in the summertime is that if you're rostered for a game, you are playing in that game uh equal amount of minutes for everybody.
1:25:03
SPEAKER_00: Really?
1:25:03
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
1:25:04
SPEAKER_00: And some people don't like that.
1:25:06
SPEAKER_00: And even goalkeepers.
1:25:08
SPEAKER_00: If I have two goalkeepers, one plays one for half, one plays the other second half.
1:25:12
SPEAKER_03: And some door style.
1:25:13
SPEAKER_03: Okay, I like it.
1:25:14
SPEAKER_00: If you are a field player, you are getting the same amount of minutes.
1:25:18
SPEAKER_00: I mean, you might get some players of players might get more minutes, but I I had many games last year.
1:25:24
SPEAKER_00: I had 22 players.
1:25:26
SPEAKER_00: So the coaches on the other team going, okay, that's a mass substitution.
1:25:30
SPEAKER_00: It's like 10 in, 10 out.
1:25:31
SPEAKER_00: Right.
1:25:32
SPEAKER_03: Like the US men's national team against Belgium.
1:25:36
SPEAKER_00: And it's only right because if if you're right you know, if you're rostered for a game, your parents are there watching, they're coming to support you.
1:25:43
SPEAKER_03: Your friends people thought of it like that.
1:25:46
SPEAKER_00: It's and and again, I uh it's so frustrating because I f I heard a few stories about I was rostered for a game from another team, rostered for a game we played out in Lansing or whatever, and I got five minutes of game.
1:26:00
SPEAKER_00: Yep.
1:26:01
SPEAKER_00: And I traveled all the way out there, and I got five minutes a game, and I'm a defender, and he put me up at forward.
1:26:07
SPEAKER_00: Yep.
1:26:08
SPEAKER_00: So, and I'm here to get minutes in for the summertime for my college, and and you're limiting time.
1:26:15
SPEAKER_00: And so I I tell the girls, I said, you might not like it, you know, and there's some games that are very competitive, and maybe one group is doing a really nice job out on the field at a time, and then all of a sudden, okay, I have to make that decision of we're subbing right now.
1:26:31
SPEAKER_00: We have to send in because I have to stay true to myself on that.
1:26:34
SPEAKER_00: That's my philosophy on it.
1:26:36
SPEAKER_00: And uh, when I start to compromise that a little bit, and just because I want to win the game, which is not actually so important, right?
1:26:45
SPEAKER_00: The important thing is that you're getting minutes that and everybody's feeling involved in the game.
1:26:51
SPEAKER_00: When you start kind of like, all right, you're just playing five minutes and she's playing 90 minutes.
1:26:56
SPEAKER_00: How does that person that's just playing five minutes feel?
1:26:59
SPEAKER_00: You know, they don't feel like a part of it.
1:27:01
SPEAKER_00: No, when you have everybody, okay, I know I'm coming to a game and I know I'm gonna be playing at least half the game, you feel like you're a part of the team.
1:27:08
SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
1:27:09
SPEAKER_00: You're a part of the outcome, whether it's winning or losing, whatever it is, instead of just sitting on the bench and you know, I might get into the last 10 minutes.
1:27:19
SPEAKER_03: Do you think and I'm just uh just basing this off of FC Buffalo and how uh they've ran in the past where i they take it way more competitively and so it's a lot of girls play ninety, and then a lot of little a lot of girls play 10.
1:27:40
SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
1:27:40
SPEAKER_03: And it's like I don't feel like I'm I'm a part of this team at all.
1:27:46
SPEAKER_03: And so then they don't come back or they quit halfway through the season.
1:27:51
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and or more how is the climate here in Michigan?
1:27:56
SPEAKER_03: Is it cutthroat in the UWS specifically?
1:27:59
SPEAKER_03: Is it It all win, win, win, win, win, or are more people like, hey, we've we're gonna play everybody.
1:28:06
SPEAKER_03: We're gonna get everybody.
1:28:07
SPEAKER_00: I think most teams, I think most teams are very good at getting a lot of minutes for their players.
1:28:12
SPEAKER_00: I think it's because of the val the volume of teams, too.
1:28:16
SPEAKER_03: Also, obviously the players too.
1:28:18
SPEAKER_03: There's not a huge drop-off.
1:28:19
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
1:28:21
SPEAKER_00: Don't get me wrong, there are games that are really you really want to win that game.
1:28:25
SPEAKER_00: Damn it.
1:28:26
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
1:28:26
SPEAKER_00: I gotta sub.
1:28:28
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
1:28:28
SPEAKER_00: I'm like, ah, and and so there are competitive games like that where your maybe your bench is shortened just a little bit.
1:28:35
SPEAKER_00: Right.
1:28:35
SPEAKER_00: But I think for the most cases, um, everybody is you know has the same kind of philosophy.
1:28:41
SPEAKER_00: You know, Doug, again, go back to Doug, he's done a great job kind of um, you know, with the Jags.
1:28:46
SPEAKER_00: It's like, you know, um it's about about the girls, it's about getting the minutes in the summertime.
1:28:53
SPEAKER_00: Why are we restricting that, you know, uh through through just not having the girls playing a lot of minutes?
1:29:01
SPEAKER_03: So but um how are you okay are you taking wait list for next year?
1:29:11
SPEAKER_03: Uh do you have a wait list for next year at all?
1:29:14
SPEAKER_00: I don't.
1:29:15
SPEAKER_00: Um what happens at the end of the season is that I kind of put out an interest form again.
1:29:19
SPEAKER_00: Okay.
1:29:20
SPEAKER_00: And I invite all the players that have been a part of Troy City.
1:29:22
SPEAKER_00: I said, hey, you got first dibs.
1:29:24
SPEAKER_00: You got first dib, you're welcome back.
1:29:26
SPEAKER_00: But I don't know what kind of talent level is coming in.
1:29:28
SPEAKER_00: There might be.
1:29:29
SPEAKER_00: It gets ratcheted up every year.
1:29:31
SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, so some of the girls that we just started out the first year, you know, quality players, but now the second year, there's even more quality players that are coming in, and then now the third year, so on and so forth.
1:29:46
SPEAKER_03: So it's only gonna grow.
1:29:47
SPEAKER_00: It's good, yeah.
1:29:48
SPEAKER_00: That's my hope.
1:29:49
SPEAKER_00: Um to grow to a point where um, again, people want to come in and they know what we're all about and uh the philosophy and all that kind of stuff and feel part of the team.
1:30:02
SPEAKER_00: Um but no, I don't have a wait list, but that's kind of at the end of the season, is what what happens.
1:30:08
SPEAKER_00: And a lot of girls don't realize that a lot of the starts, summer stuff starts in the fall in order to because all of a sudden, all of a sudden I get some emails like after Christmas.
1:30:20
SPEAKER_00: Oh, I didn't know you guys had tryouts, or I didn't know uh is there still room on your on your on your rosters.
1:30:26
SPEAKER_00: I said, Well, this process started way back in September and October, right?
1:30:30
SPEAKER_00: Trying to just get interest forms of people so I have an idea how to plan, you know, and get sponsorships and things like that.
1:30:37
SPEAKER_00: It's that doesn't happen just in the short, you know, like the month before the you know the season starts.
1:30:42
SPEAKER_00: It happens well in advance.
1:30:44
SPEAKER_00: Right.
1:30:44
SPEAKER_00: So a lot of them are learning that, especially the younger ones.
1:30:47
SPEAKER_00: You know, the parents are kind of like new to this whole thing, like the high school girls is like I didn't I didn't realize that you know we needed to contact you in September, October, November, or you had tryouts over over the the Christmas break.
1:30:59
SPEAKER_00: I said, Well, now you do.
1:31:01
SPEAKER_00: How old's your oldest player?
1:31:04
SPEAKER_03: Uh 21, 2, 20, 22.
1:31:07
SPEAKER_03: What happens when she's like 24 and still wants to play and she's out of college?
1:31:10
SPEAKER_03: Still gonna let her play?
1:31:12
SPEAKER_03: Uh I will.
1:31:13
SPEAKER_03: I mean uh That's how you that's how b FC Buffalo is.
1:31:16
SPEAKER_03: It's like it's a lot of older players that are legit and still want to play.
1:31:21
SPEAKER_00: But I uh I do have again, I I I I I want to make sure that you have a feeder into the future.
1:31:29
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I can't have too many of those.
1:31:31
SPEAKER_00: And they kind of understand that.
1:31:32
SPEAKER_00: They they have the philosophy of like, oh, whenever you whenever you need me, right?
1:31:36
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, exactly.
1:31:36
SPEAKER_03: And they probably don't want to travel.
1:31:38
SPEAKER_03: No, hey, oh I'll just be here for home games.
1:31:41
SPEAKER_00: Or if I'm not I'm hurting, I have an injury or something like that.
1:31:44
SPEAKER_00: It's taking me a little bit longer to to recover from.
1:31:46
SPEAKER_00: It's like, yeah, I I'll skip this game.
1:31:48
SPEAKER_00: I said, Oh, don't worry, I have some younger girls that can take your take your spot.
1:31:52
SPEAKER_00: But yeah, um, but I am really excited about the the younger, the talent level that that comes in every year.
1:31:58
SPEAKER_00: It's just um it's just crazy.
1:32:01
SPEAKER_03: Is it mostly word of mouth?
1:32:02
SPEAKER_03: I know your social media presence, but is it mostly word of mouth and girls talking to girls like you said at the beginning?
1:32:08
SPEAKER_00: I have a connection again with a lot of high school teams around here, and and I think over the last seven years through my trainings, I think there's a lot of people that know of me.
1:32:17
SPEAKER_02: Good.
1:32:18
SPEAKER_00: And again, it's you know, social media is a great thing and a bad thing at the same time, but it's a great thing to I do a lot of filming of my technical trainings and things like that.
1:32:29
SPEAKER_00: And I believe that people need to see that in order for them to be like, oh yeah, I could see that's I like that.
1:32:38
SPEAKER_00: Maybe I'll try that out or whatever.
1:32:40
SPEAKER_00: I see some of the trainers out there that they just post pictures and that's it.
1:32:44
SPEAKER_00: I said, Well, how do how does somebody really understand what you're doing?
1:32:48
SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, in in your sessions if you don't give them a sample of of that.
1:32:53
SPEAKER_00: So my thing is that the girls are the star of the show, right?
1:32:57
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
1:32:58
SPEAKER_00: So you make you know everything else, me look good or whatever, and and I want them to be the ones that are out front in and doing that.
1:33:06
SPEAKER_03: So do you do you do uh like highlight tapes or highlight videos for social media too off of the games?
1:33:13
SPEAKER_03: Uh yeah, the VO?
1:33:14
SPEAKER_00: Yes, yes, I do.
1:33:15
SPEAKER_00: Good.
1:33:16
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, whenever we have a game in the summertime, uh there's you know some good goal scoring opportunities or goals, they are the share again, star of the show.
1:33:24
SPEAKER_00: I high I put a package together.
1:33:25
SPEAKER_00: In fact, I'm going to Troy High tonight.
1:33:28
SPEAKER_00: There you go.
1:33:29
SPEAKER_00: Against Clarkston.
1:33:30
SPEAKER_00: Uh, and I that's that's my responsibility as a trainer.
1:33:34
SPEAKER_00: When I don't have something going on, they they support me.
1:33:38
SPEAKER_00: When I don't have something going on, I need to go and support them.
1:33:41
SPEAKER_00: So what I do is I go out to all these girls' games in the springtime when I have a little bit more time and flexibility.
1:33:48
SPEAKER_03: Right, because you're not training during yeah, I film them.
1:33:51
SPEAKER_00: I fill I filmed um the Troy game against Plymouth before their break.
1:33:57
SPEAKER_00: I sit up there with my camera and I film it, and I film the whole game, and I go back home in the evening and they won five to one.
1:34:06
SPEAKER_00: And so I go back and cut and clip all the highlights and all that kind of stuff, put it to music, put it on my TikTok, put it on my Instagram, and um show it to them, you know, and again, let them be the star of the show, their program, what they do, all that kind of stuff.
1:34:22
SPEAKER_00: And um, so that's my responsibility, um, you know, to support them and to do that.
1:34:27
SPEAKER_00: And I love it, you know.
1:34:29
SPEAKER_00: I love seeing them, you know, do so well, you know, and and I s I love going out to watch games against again, Clarkston and Troy High.
1:34:38
SPEAKER_00: There's two girls on Clarkston are on my team in the summer.
1:34:40
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
1:34:41
SPEAKER_00: And there's two girls on Troy High.
1:34:43
SPEAKER_00: And they're both ranked.
1:34:44
SPEAKER_03: They're both they're both uh in the top 15 right now.
1:34:47
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, Troy is I think third.
1:34:48
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and uh, I think Clarkston's like 11 or 10th or 11 or 19, something like that.
1:34:53
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but very I mean the OA Red is is crazy.
1:34:56
SPEAKER_00: It's always you know now that I I see a lot of um club ECNO girls playing high school ball this year.
1:35:04
SPEAKER_00: Um a lot like junior or seniors, they're they're not playing their club, they're playing in because the Nationals, some of the Jags and Hawks are all full year.
1:35:16
SPEAKER_00: But then they're not doing a lot of games, but no senior seniors are coming back.
1:35:21
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it and which is good.
1:35:23
SPEAKER_00: The OA Red is just it's just the Rochester Adams Rochester Adams and Clarkston and Troy and Athens, all these now it's even better because you have some of these girls that are playing high DC and O.
1:35:35
SPEAKER_00: They're already committed playing college somewhere.
1:35:37
SPEAKER_00: Now they're coming back their senior year to play on their high school team.
1:35:40
SPEAKER_00: And the the competition is so good, you know.
1:35:45
SPEAKER_00: Um, so it's it's fun to watch, especially in this area.
1:35:48
SPEAKER_00: Um the OER red is just yeah, the boys and girls side both is very good.
1:35:53
SPEAKER_00: So awesome.
1:35:55
SPEAKER_03: You you you don't really have to go out and recruit or anything like that.
1:36:01
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
1:36:02
unknown: No.
1:36:02
SPEAKER_00: I I I through Instagram is my main thing, is that I you know I see clips of girls all the time playing their soccer or whatever, and and you know, through social media and all that kind of stuff.
1:36:17
SPEAKER_00: And if I see somebody that you know does a really nice job or whatever, I you know I hit the follow button like everybody else does, of course, and they follow me back, and and then I kind of follow them for a while and I say, you know, I really like what you're doing.
1:36:31
SPEAKER_00: If you ever think about interested about you know checking Troy City out, and you know, we have a semi-pro team in the summertime, like have you come out to tryouts or you know, and uh you know, some are interested and and some are not, but that's kind of the recruitment process and the word of mouth, right?
1:36:47
SPEAKER_00: Yep, you know, the girls again talk with other girls, and it's like even in even at their colleges, you know, like Marion down in Indiana, I think they are out of Indiana.
1:36:59
SPEAKER_00: Some of these schools though, some of the girls even talk with each other, you know, at their schools, and they don't have maybe a semi-pro team in their area, and they say, Well, who are you playing for in the summertime?
1:37:10
SPEAKER_00: If they're close enough, they might check us out and do it that way.
1:37:13
SPEAKER_00: So um awesome.
1:37:16
SPEAKER_00: But yeah, no recruitment, it's just yeah, I don't need any you know, the amount of girls.
1:37:24
SPEAKER_00: Unless I get a little bit more help.
1:37:26
SPEAKER_00: You need a bigger boat, right?
1:37:28
SPEAKER_00: I need a bigger boat.
1:37:29
SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
1:37:29
SPEAKER_03: But uh, where can everybody find you?
1:37:32
SPEAKER_03: Every uh website, Instagram, yeah.
1:37:34
SPEAKER_00: Instagram is where I do a lot of my stuff, either uh Troy City WFC or John Art Training, um, you know, Facebook and Instagram.
1:37:44
SPEAKER_00: And then we do have a website, uh TroyCity WFC.com.
1:37:48
SPEAKER_00: Perfect.
1:37:49
SPEAKER_00: Where we do have our game schedule, but that's where we uh that's where I do all my stuff.
1:37:53
SPEAKER_00: And awesome.
1:37:54
SPEAKER_00: And it's it's a good thing.
1:37:55
SPEAKER_03: So thanks for having me.
1:37:58
SPEAKER_03: Thanks for doing this.
1:37:59
SPEAKER_00: No, I mean as I said before.
1:38:00
SPEAKER_00: Thanks for reaching out.
1:38:01
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
1:38:02
SPEAKER_00: Well, you know, again, social media is a great thing, right?
1:38:05
SPEAKER_00: It's it's it's connected us.
1:38:06
SPEAKER_00: I love I love watching your stuff and just getting perspectives of different things.
1:38:12
SPEAKER_03: Different guys do it.
1:38:13
SPEAKER_03: Everybody does something a little bit different or has their own way, or maybe has this facility.
1:38:18
SPEAKER_03: It's like I just want to showcase it.
1:38:20
SPEAKER_03: Everybody has their opinion, yeah.
1:38:22
SPEAKER_03: And it's and I've been thinking about this.
1:38:24
SPEAKER_03: Like, my goal is to be central somewhere like and have my own studio, but I'm enjoying just going around and seeing everybody's facilities and checking that out.
1:38:36
SPEAKER_03: It's like maybe I'll do this for a little bit longer because this is I'm having a blast.
1:38:43
SPEAKER_00: There's a place for it, and you're doing an awesome job.
1:38:45
SPEAKER_00: It's just it's nice to see again another perspective, maybe from a maybe Midwest or somebody in Buffalo.
1:38:52
SPEAKER_03: I I'm gonna be going out to Chicago and hitting a couple clubs out there and just just see how different it's been an education to for me.
1:39:04
SPEAKER_03: It's it's because I haven't I haven't done any like coaching courses in ten years.
1:39:10
SPEAKER_03: I took my B and I was like, uh I'm done with that, or actually my last one was the premiere.
1:39:17
SPEAKER_03: And I was like, you know what?
1:39:19
SPEAKER_03: I'm I'm good.
1:39:20
SPEAKER_03: Um and then just being able to talk to guys like you and just anybody.
1:39:25
SPEAKER_03: And I learned from my players that I have on here too.
1:39:28
SPEAKER_00: And just more you the more you do it, the more you learn, and there's always something you know, you learn every day, right?
1:39:35
SPEAKER_00: Something new, yeah, and a different perspective or different way to see things.
1:39:40
SPEAKER_00: Um or you know, just like we're talking about like playing time in the summertime.
1:39:44
SPEAKER_00: That's you know, not all of people think that's the right way to do things in there, and that's fine.
1:39:50
SPEAKER_00: But you know, again, my philosophy is that we're you get you're here to play and have minutes and get ready for your college or whatever you need to be doing.
1:40:00
SPEAKER_00: So that's the best way to do it.
1:40:01
SPEAKER_00: And winning take care takes care of itself.
1:40:04
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it does.
1:40:05
SPEAKER_00: If you do the right things, if you treat people the right way, um you don't have to have a set stone.
1:40:12
SPEAKER_00: We're doing playing you all 90 minutes and you're the rest of you're just sitting the bench.
1:40:16
SPEAKER_00: If you uh people buy into what you're doing and they trust you and say, no, this is what what we signed up for, and then again, lean takes care of itself.
1:40:27
SPEAKER_00: I mean, it we're you know, case in point where we kind of first two years we won the MPSL both years.
1:40:34
SPEAKER_00: We're you know very successful in that.
1:40:36
SPEAKER_00: And UWS we did a really good job last year and um you know, starting from scratch and grows a boat in.
1:40:42
SPEAKER_00: And it's awesome.
