- 0:09Speaker 2: b BP people whatever, breaking news, and it's exciting.
- 0:15Speaker 3: It's It's what everybody's been waiting for.
- 0:17Speaker 4: It's what everybody's been waiting for.
- 0:19Speaker 3: I get asked more about this potential show that is
- 0:22Speaker 3: now an actual show than than anything else.
- 0:26Speaker 4: People have been waiting for it.
- 0:27Speaker 2: People have been excited about it, and there's still some
- 0:31Speaker 2: anticipation in the Almost Famous family that's we could be involved.
- 0:37Speaker 4: Okay, here it is. Are you ready for it? Ashley?
- 0:40Speaker 4: Are you ready for this massive announcement from Bachelor Nation?
- 0:44Speaker 3: You you share it because it's very special to you.
- 0:47Speaker 2: The Golden Bachelor is officially being announced. After more than
- 0:51Speaker 2: twenty seasons of fostering young love on The Bachelor, The Bachelorette,
- 0:56Speaker 2: and Bachelor in Paradise, the Golden Bachelor showcases it's a
- 1:00Speaker 2: whole new kind of love story, one for the Golden Years.
- 1:04Speaker 2: On this all new unscripted series, one hopeless romantic is
- 1:08Speaker 2: given a chance at love in the search for a
- 1:11Speaker 2: partner with whom to share the sunset years of life.
- 1:15Speaker 2: The women arriving at the Mansion, have a lifetime of experience,
- 1:19Speaker 2: living through love, loss and laughter, hoping for a spark
- 1:24Speaker 2: that ignites a future full of endless possibilities. In the end,
- 1:28Speaker 2: will our golden man turn the page to start a
- 1:31Speaker 2: new chapter with the women of his dreams?
- 1:34Speaker 3: All right, guys, there it is the Senior Bachelor you've
- 1:37Speaker 3: been waiting for. The show is called The Golden Bachelor,
- 1:40Speaker 3: and it will be airing this fall on Mondays ten
- 1:45Speaker 3: pm to eleven pm. So it's only an hour show.
- 1:49Speaker 4: That's fine. That's fine with me. I can do an
- 1:52Speaker 4: hour now.
- 1:53Speaker 3: The thing is this, we do not have word of
- 1:57Speaker 3: who will be hosting it, or if it's been filmed,
- 1:59Speaker 3: or when it will be filmed. If it hasn't been
- 2:02Speaker 3: filmed yet, and it hasn't officially gotten Jesse, who we
- 2:06Speaker 3: would assume is just the overall bachelor host hosting it,
- 2:12Speaker 3: Ben is still here to shoot a shot to become
- 2:15Speaker 3: the host.
- 2:15Speaker 4: Ben, I'm a free agent.
- 2:17Speaker 3: Why you over Jesse? Because we love Jesse and no
- 2:20Speaker 3: offense to him, but you do have an older soul.
- 2:24Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean there's no offense to Jesse here. I
- 2:26Speaker 2: hope Jesse understands the situation I'm placed in. This is
- 2:30Speaker 2: just like my perfect scenario. Meaning if you had asked
- 2:35Speaker 2: me even before I was on The Bachelor, what would
- 2:37Speaker 2: be your dream job, it would have been something similar
- 2:41Speaker 2: to this. I love love, I love story, and I
- 2:46Speaker 2: love helping people go get through their story and the
- 2:51Speaker 2: lessons learned in life like one of my favorite things
- 2:54Speaker 2: growing up. I don't know if you've ever known this
- 2:55Speaker 2: about me, Ashley. When I was in college, I joined
- 2:59Speaker 2: a pipe smoke club. That's the good kind of pipe,
- 3:01Speaker 2: like with tobacco in it, like the old school.
- 3:03Speaker 3: You're like, not a crack pipe.
- 3:05Speaker 2: Yeah, no, Like this is like tobacco pipe. I joined
- 3:08Speaker 2: it so I could sit around the table with a
- 3:10Speaker 2: bunch of people in their sixties and seventies and eighties
- 3:13Speaker 2: and hear about their life experience and learn from them.
- 3:17Speaker 2: I feel like I've been prepared for this my whole life.
- 3:20Speaker 2: I again will say I don't need to be the host.
- 3:23Speaker 2: I would love to be the host. I think I
- 3:24Speaker 2: could be the host, but I just want to be involved,
- 3:28Speaker 2: like let me, let me be involved in some way,
- 3:32Speaker 2: to be there and support And I think there's an
- 3:35Speaker 2: element where Jesse's an incredible host, but some fresh. You know,
- 3:40Speaker 2: some fresh people on a new show could be good
- 3:43Speaker 2: for Bachelor Nation.
- 3:44Speaker 4: I think that would be good.
- 3:45Speaker 2: And somebody that you know, Jesse was the Bachelor as well,
- 3:49Speaker 2: but somebody that was more recently the Bachelor and recently
- 3:53Speaker 2: a newlywed. I have a lot to learn from them.
- 3:55Speaker 2: How cool would it be to have a host who
- 3:58Speaker 2: is learning from the contecht as they walk through this experience.
- 4:02Speaker 4: I just want to be involved, Ash, I don't know.
- 4:04Speaker 4: I think this is I'm going to be.
- 4:05Speaker 2: If I'm not involved, I'm gonna be very sad because
- 4:08Speaker 2: I've tried really hard for this, So you're going.
- 4:09Speaker 3: To actually be sad.
- 4:11Speaker 2: I will be sad, no, because I feel like this
- 4:14Speaker 2: is something There's nothing I've ever asked for from this world. Yeah,
- 4:19Speaker 2: there's nothing I ever have said. Hey, you know when
- 4:21Speaker 2: they announced Jesse as the host for the Bachelor and Bachelorette,
- 4:24Speaker 2: it's not like I said at home, but like I
- 4:25Speaker 2: could have been better than him.
- 4:26Speaker 4: I didn't think that.
- 4:27Speaker 2: I didn't say that. There wasn't a thought in my mind.
- 4:30Speaker 2: I think he could be a great host. But when
- 4:32Speaker 2: it comes to this, I feel like I could do
- 4:34Speaker 2: a good job. I feel like I was made for it,
- 4:37Speaker 2: and so I want to shoot my shot. But if
- 4:40Speaker 2: I'm not the host, I will be sad, but I
- 4:42Speaker 2: will be the biggest fan of the show.
- 4:43Speaker 4: I think it's gonna be awesome.
- 4:45Speaker 3: So they actually said back in February that the thing
- 4:49Speaker 3: was going to happen. I didn't even know. I think
- 4:52Speaker 3: that slipped us, but it was actually my flies he
- 4:55Speaker 3: was no longer with the show that announced on Twitter
- 4:58Speaker 3: that the Golden Bachelor was coming in February. Now, I
- 5:03Speaker 3: think the age range is somewhere from fifty five and older.
- 5:07Speaker 3: It definitely begs the question whether Gabby's beloved grandfather will
- 5:11Speaker 3: be on the show. I think it would be a
- 5:12Speaker 3: nice little crossover. Then what else do we need to
- 5:18Speaker 3: know about this? And Ben, I will say I can't
- 5:21Speaker 3: imagine anybody being more naturally. I when I think about
- 5:25Speaker 3: a host involving themselves with this cast, I just see
- 5:30Speaker 3: you so perfectly.
- 5:33Speaker 4: I hope they think the same thing.
- 5:35Speaker 3: Yeah, I think I think that will.
- 5:36Speaker 4: And then I'm very chip.
- 5:38Speaker 3: You'll come, You'll do you'll do this for ditty Squad? Yeah,
- 5:42Speaker 3: I mean I'm not gonna say I do it for free?
- 5:45Speaker 4: I free?
- 5:47Speaker 3: Yeah, just like you're per damn right. Okay, so then
- 5:53Speaker 3: we also got news today. I'm not it's not surprising whatsoever.
- 5:57Speaker 3: I think we would have found out if it wasn't
- 5:59Speaker 3: happening earlier. But that Bachelor in Paradise has been renewed
- 6:03Speaker 3: for season nine and it will be also airing this fall.
- 6:07Speaker 3: Question here is will it be Bachelor in Paradise for
- 6:11Speaker 3: two hours followed by an hour of The Golden Bachelor?
- 6:14Speaker 2: It says Tuesdays, though, so Golden Bachelor is going to
- 6:17Speaker 2: be Monday's ten pm to eleven pm Eastern Time, and
- 6:20Speaker 2: then Bachelor in Paradise is Tuesdays nine pm.
- 6:23Speaker 3: Tom No, No, no, it won't be. I'm disappointed that
- 6:27Speaker 3: Paradise will be fall because I think Paradise was great
- 6:31Speaker 3: in August and September as it is a summer show.
- 6:35Speaker 2: But I will say this, I think this is a
- 6:38Speaker 2: great move for the franchise in general, no matter you
- 6:41Speaker 2: know what my involvement or lack of involvement. I have
- 6:44Speaker 2: yet to receive a phone call, so i'd love this.
- 6:46Speaker 2: Still my phone is open. I will say that I
- 6:49Speaker 2: would share my number, but I don't know if that's smart.
- 6:52Speaker 2: I think it's a great move for the franchise coming
- 6:54Speaker 2: up in the fall, where the Golden Bachelor I believe
- 6:58Speaker 2: will do fairly well. I think Paradise always does what
- 7:01Speaker 2: Paradise does. It does consistent numbers year over year. It
- 7:05Speaker 2: brings in a certain audience. And so we're gonna have
- 7:07Speaker 2: two back to back nights of the Bachelor franchise, which
- 7:10Speaker 2: to me, two different, completely different shows. I feel like
- 7:14Speaker 2: Bachelor Nation won't get tired of this, where maybe like
- 7:18Speaker 2: the Bachelor season this last year, they get a little
- 7:20Speaker 2: tired of watching the same show for three hours, maybe
- 7:24Speaker 2: back to back nights, I think these are going to
- 7:27Speaker 2: be so different in content that Bachelor Nation.
- 7:31Speaker 4: Might react really well to watching both of them.
- 7:34Speaker 3: Yeah, I think they're going to get a lot of viewers,
- 7:37Speaker 3: maybe even new viewers to Bachelor the Bachelor franchise, because
- 7:40Speaker 3: out of all the streaming service dating shows that we have,
- 7:44Speaker 3: so many, right, so many dating reality shows, none of
- 7:48Speaker 3: them pertain to an older demographic. Sure, so this is
- 7:53Speaker 3: truly unique, and I'm glad that are our franchise is
- 7:57Speaker 3: part of it, and we are going to have a
- 7:59Speaker 3: great discussing all of it. Come come Fall. Great for our.
- 8:03Speaker 2: Show, Absolutely amazing for our show. Congratulations to the Bachelor
- 8:08Speaker 2: franchise for finally doing something.
- 8:10Speaker 4: I mean, the big joke every.
- 8:11Speaker 2: Time when I went out, when I was a bachelor,
- 8:13Speaker 2: when i'd meet people would be you think they're gonna
- 8:16Speaker 2: you think they would have me as the Bachelor. It
- 8:17Speaker 2: would always be somebody older telling me that, Like it's
- 8:20Speaker 2: always been the joke. But now it's not a joke.
- 8:23Speaker 2: It's actually happening. It's giving a whole new demographic and excitement,
- 8:27Speaker 2: something to tune into, something to maybe dream of being
- 8:31Speaker 2: on one day. It's giving a lot of people, probably
- 8:33Speaker 2: second chances, some first chances, but a ton of great
- 8:37Speaker 2: stories involved.
- 8:38Speaker 4: So we're excited for this show.
- 8:40Speaker 2: The fall is going to be full of Bachelor content,
- 8:43Speaker 2: new Bachelor content that we cannot wait to break down
- 8:46Speaker 2: with you. But we had to get on today and
- 8:48Speaker 2: share this breaking news with you that, yes, finally, after
- 8:52Speaker 2: years of teasing and claims being made, the Golden Bachelor
- 8:57Speaker 2: is officially announced for the fall Mondays ten pm to
- 9:00Speaker 2: eleven pm Eastern Time.
- 9:02Speaker 4: Let's go.
- 9:13Speaker 3: Before we sign off, how much is it going to
- 9:17Speaker 3: be The Real Housewives Meets The Bachelor? Because you know
- 9:21Speaker 3: that people love seeing ladies in their fifties bicker.
- 9:25Speaker 4: Yeah, and they're.
- 9:26Speaker 3: Gonna get that.
- 9:28Speaker 4: No, I mean, that's to be wild. It's gonna be wild.
- 9:31Speaker 2: But then there's also it's gonna be similar, I think
- 9:34Speaker 2: to the regular like Bachelor, where you're gonna have your
- 9:37Speaker 2: big personalities, the ones that are a little more drama filled,
- 9:40Speaker 2: the ones that are a little more quick tempered. You know,
- 9:42Speaker 2: when you get older, you just typically seem to speak
- 9:45Speaker 2: your mind more openly.
- 9:47Speaker 3: Thinks you're so much more comfortable with yourself.
- 9:50Speaker 4: You're more comfortable with yourself.
- 9:51Speaker 2: But then you're also going to have the people there
- 9:53Speaker 2: who maybe aren't comfortable with themselves, who maybe have been
- 9:56Speaker 2: through some pains and some trauma and maybe you don't
- 9:59Speaker 2: even want to be on the sh show, but their
- 10:00Speaker 2: kids signed them up because they just thought, Hey, it'd
- 10:03Speaker 2: be great for my mom or my dad to have
- 10:07Speaker 2: this second chance at something. And so those people are
- 10:10Speaker 2: gonna be there, and they're gonna be a little more
- 10:11Speaker 2: like conservative and how they communicate and what they do,
- 10:15Speaker 2: and I think that's gonna be beautiful. As we get older,
- 10:18Speaker 2: our personalities seem to come out more and more because
- 10:22Speaker 2: of that confidence and because of life experience and so
- 10:25Speaker 2: We're gonna get some big personalities and some deep heartfelt stories.
- 10:31Speaker 4: I can't wait for it.
- 10:32Speaker 3: Me too. Final thought here, Okay, what do you think
- 10:36Speaker 3: they'll be looking for in the Golden Bachelor.
- 10:40Speaker 2: Well, I think, honestly, it would mirror what Sarah Trout
- 10:43Speaker 2: told us in an episode we have recorded with her
- 10:48Speaker 2: that will be posted very soon. They're looking for somebody
- 10:52Speaker 2: not only that is probably physically attractive, but also has
- 10:58Speaker 2: an empathy, has the ability to communicate and listen, has
- 11:03Speaker 2: a little bit of confidence, probably has been through some
- 11:07Speaker 2: stuff in their life, so they have a story to tell.
- 11:10Speaker 2: But it's I think it's really the relatability factor when
- 11:14Speaker 2: it comes to the lead on this show, is when
- 11:16Speaker 2: we watch them, how much can we relate with them,
- 11:20Speaker 2: how much do we admire that they're giving this thing
- 11:23Speaker 2: a chance, how much do we enjoy the questions they
- 11:27Speaker 2: ask and how inquisitive they are, And then how interesting
- 11:32Speaker 2: is their story. That's the easy part, I think, because
- 11:34Speaker 2: I think everybody's story is interesting. But I think I
- 11:39Speaker 2: think they're going to get Here's what's going to happen, Ashley.
- 11:42Speaker 2: Here's my thought is they're going to get for the
- 11:46Speaker 2: first season. It is the bachelor. So they're going to
- 11:48Speaker 2: have a male lead. He's going to be Kevin Costner esque,
- 11:51Speaker 2: where like twenty year olds are going, oh my goodness,
- 11:54Speaker 2: that dude's attractive, and sixty yeah, and sixty year olds
- 11:58Speaker 2: are going, oh my goodness, that does a t active
- 12:00Speaker 2: and this dude is gonna blow up because he's going
- 12:04Speaker 2: to have a wide range of people being like, goodness, gracious,
- 12:06Speaker 2: that dude's a stud.
- 12:08Speaker 3: They need to make this guy like a real celebrity,
- 12:10Speaker 3: lead him up to his role in the show, like
- 12:14Speaker 3: have him go to red carpet premieres, put him in
- 12:16Speaker 3: really sexy locations for his photo shoots and all that.
- 12:20Speaker 2: Give him a cowboy hat and the glass of whiskey.
- 12:23Speaker 2: Everybody get a rugged Yeah, let's go.
- 12:26Speaker 3: Then I also say there's got to be like he's
- 12:30Speaker 3: got to fit into one of these three storylines. Of course,
- 12:32Speaker 3: he's going to either be the guy who's forever single
- 12:35Speaker 3: and now is ready the guy who like, you know,
- 12:40Speaker 3: like a Leonardo DiCaprio, like you know, well he's in
- 12:44Speaker 3: his forties, but you know, like a guy who's like
- 12:47Speaker 3: fifties plus who has never been married. Maybe he was
- 12:49Speaker 3: a former playboy and now he wants to be settled down,
- 12:53Speaker 3: or then we have the divorce a or we have
- 12:57Speaker 3: the widow. Which category do you think is going to
- 13:00Speaker 3: be the most intriguing.
- 13:04Speaker 2: I would tend to gravitate towards somebody who has either
- 13:10Speaker 2: gone through a divorce or is widowed, because because I
- 13:16Speaker 2: just think they're they're they've felt love. And there's a
- 13:20Speaker 2: quote from Michael A a few years ago that said,
- 13:23Speaker 2: how lucky is it that I've got I get to
- 13:25Speaker 2: experience love twice? And I think that's kind of a
- 13:31Speaker 2: good theme for this show, is how lucky am I
- 13:34Speaker 2: that I get to experience love twice? And that that
- 13:37Speaker 2: to me is you know when he said that, there
- 13:40Speaker 2: were so many emotions that came up inside of me,
- 13:44Speaker 2: And I think that will be a very intriguing storyline
- 13:48Speaker 2: that so many would tune into and be like, I've
- 13:50Speaker 2: been there too, I get it, and I'm here to
- 13:52Speaker 2: support you.
- 13:53Speaker 3: In the whole single forever thing, young, wild and free
- 13:58Speaker 3: now being settling down is more of like the Bachelor.
- 14:02Speaker 3: We kind of get that with a young bachelor every time,
- 14:04Speaker 3: so we kind of need the person who's had a
- 14:06Speaker 3: great love in their past.
- 14:08Speaker 2: Yeah, of some kind in some way. We need somebody
- 14:12Speaker 2: who who knows how to love and who has found
- 14:15Speaker 2: love now, not saying that there won't be in when
- 14:18Speaker 2: this last twenty years and some seasons that will have
- 14:21Speaker 2: that person man or woman who has just lived wild
- 14:25Speaker 2: and free and now they're ready to settle down. That
- 14:28Speaker 2: could be interesting too, But initially I would gravitate towards
- 14:33Speaker 2: somebody that's felt love before. Yeah, all right, so pump,
- 14:37Speaker 2: let's go, Ashley, big things ahead, big.
- 14:39Speaker 3: Making your petition online? Should I start that for you?
- 14:45Speaker 3: That would be hilarious. Put that on my to do list.
- 14:48Speaker 2: I just want all the almost famous listeners to show support,
- 14:52Speaker 2: because how juicy could this podcast be if the host
- 14:56Speaker 2: of the show was also hosting this How much intel
- 15:00Speaker 2: could we get.
- 15:01Speaker 3: I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna do it. Don't laugh
- 15:03Speaker 3: at me, and don't get mad at me when I
- 15:05Speaker 3: put out the petition tonight.
- 15:06Speaker 4: You're the best?
- 15:07Speaker 3: Would you be okay with it?
- 15:09Speaker 1: Oh?
- 15:10Speaker 2: Yeah, I am pulling all strings here, Ashley. I have
- 15:13Speaker 2: made it very clear and very known. I have no
- 15:17Speaker 2: embarrassment towards my push to say, at least consider it.
- 15:22Speaker 2: At least I'm not taking anybody's job here yet. I
- 15:24Speaker 2: don't think like I'm not with petitioning to step on
- 15:28Speaker 2: anybody's toes. If Jesse wants this job again, he is
- 15:31Speaker 2: the host of the Bachelor, he can have it.
- 15:33Speaker 4: I just want to be involved. So too much for
- 15:36Speaker 4: him to do all this all year. Yeah, he's gonna
- 15:39Speaker 4: get tired.
- 15:39Speaker 3: He's going to get football during the fall too, or
- 15:43Speaker 3: a break, and he needs a break, get a break.
- 15:46Speaker 3: I type in petition and I go to change dot change.
- 15:48Speaker 3: Dot org is the number one petition site, so it
- 15:50Speaker 3: can change dot org. Ben Higgins for the Golden Bachelor host.
- 15:55Speaker 2: Oh goodness, Well, we'll be back then. We just had
- 15:58Speaker 2: to get this one out there. We'll be back very soon.
- 15:59Speaker 2: We have some episodes being posted this week. We have
- 16:02Speaker 2: a great weekend ahead of us with a lot of
- 16:04Speaker 2: content we'll be recording with some incredible guests.
- 16:06Speaker 4: Stay tuned.
- 16:08Speaker 2: This has been another very special episode with Almost Famous podcast.
