- 0:06Speaker 1: Everybody. Welcome into the Irish Steeters Podcast on the Pittsburgh
- 0:10Speaker 1: Steeters Podcast Network. This is the podcast for Pittsburgh Steelers
- 0:13Speaker 1: fans eminating from across the island of Ireland and beyond.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Michael mcgid, Jimmy English and David McKee one week out
- 0:20Speaker 1: from the Pittsburgh Steeters watch Party and Jimmy obviously great
- 0:25Speaker 1: to see you and my man and a bit of
- 0:27Speaker 1: different news this week. Welcome to you, Faultsha and also
- 0:30Speaker 1: Faultsha to Steelers legend two time Super Bowl champion Willie
- 0:35Speaker 1: Parker is coming to Dublin next week. You must be
- 0:37Speaker 1: excited a m.
- 0:39Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely, Michael. I mean I was definitely excited when
- 0:42Speaker 2: I saw Willie announced as the second guest for the
- 0:44Speaker 2: watch party, and I mean, to have two two time
- 0:48Speaker 2: Super Bowl champions coming over, it's fantastic. And obviously Willie
- 0:53Speaker 2: would have been a prominent player on the Steeters offense
- 0:57Speaker 2: and when I first began watching all those years ago,
- 0:59Speaker 2: So like you said, it's getting closer now. Excited for
- 1:03Speaker 2: that for that night, to meet all the Steeters farms
- 1:05Speaker 2: in Ireland, and yeah, it's gonna be fantastic.
- 1:08Speaker 1: Crack Willie Parker they call him fast Willie Parker. I
- 1:12Speaker 1: don't think either have been the day trust dialogue. But
- 1:14Speaker 1: I'm sure he'd run around.
- 1:15Speaker 3: It very quickly.
- 1:17Speaker 4: He would do sprints up this hell. I have to say, Mac,
- 1:20Speaker 4: he wouldn't. He wouldn't slowly, but surely wouldn't be slowing
- 1:23Speaker 4: down for anybody. And now I have to say, yeah,
- 1:25Speaker 4: I was the same as Jimmy. I was buzzing to
- 1:27Speaker 4: see it. You know, two times Super Bowl champion. I
- 1:29Speaker 4: think he has the record for the longest touchdown run
- 1:31Speaker 4: in Super Bowl history if master mistaken. So he's a
- 1:34Speaker 4: Steelers legend, that's the main thing. And when I seen it,
- 1:36Speaker 4: I was just as happy. So we've got, you know,
- 1:39Speaker 4: two great legends there. We had Alvion Fanaka last year
- 1:42Speaker 4: and we got to see the block then, and I'm
- 1:44Speaker 4: pretty sure we get to see it again this year.
- 1:46Speaker 4: We got to see that magnificent run against Seahawks super bold.
- 1:49Speaker 4: So I'm just like Jimmy, I can't wait bringing on.
- 1:51Speaker 1: I can't wait for next weekend. I know a lot
- 1:53Speaker 1: of us are really excited. There's still some end zone
- 1:55Speaker 1: tickets available. We'll put the link in the bio and
- 1:57Speaker 1: we're already looking forward to seeing everybody next week as
- 2:00Speaker 1: these Steelers get ready for the Week four matchup on
- 2:02Speaker 1: the road against the Colts. Before that, there is a
- 2:04Speaker 1: small matter of a home opennder this weekend against the
- 2:08Speaker 1: Los Angeles Chargers. Are reborn Los Angeles Chargers team with
- 2:12Speaker 1: Justin Herbert at the helm and not just him, but
- 2:15Speaker 1: a new guy in Jim Harbor at the Helm as well.
- 2:18Speaker 1: And before we talk about the Chargers, Jimmy, look, it's
- 2:21Speaker 1: just your thoughts heading into the third week of the season,
- 2:23Speaker 1: just on a basic general note that the team is
- 2:26Speaker 1: too and no it's all positive vibes, and you know,
- 2:29Speaker 1: potentially a situation where they come inted of the next
- 2:31Speaker 1: week with Willie Parker and among many others unbeaten, and
- 2:36Speaker 1: we can only hope that happens.
- 2:38Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, you're not going to complain, Michael about
- 2:40Speaker 2: being too and now to start the season, especially given
- 2:44Speaker 2: how competitive are our division is and how competitive the
- 2:47Speaker 2: conference is. And I think their current record is thanks
- 2:52Speaker 2: in large part of the defense, as they really have
- 2:55Speaker 2: stood tall and they've played at an lead level so
- 2:58Speaker 2: far this season. Would like to see a bit more
- 3:00Speaker 2: offense against the Chargers. I think we kind of gilipse
- 3:03Speaker 2: of it last week. That connection from Justin Fields to Pickens,
- 3:06Speaker 2: It's it's there. It's fantastic, and I'd like to see
- 3:10Speaker 2: him get a couple of more receivers involved if possible,
- 3:12Speaker 2: Maybe get Frier Mout involved a bit in the over
- 3:14Speaker 2: the middle. I think some kind of you know, medium
- 3:18Speaker 2: to long h passes over the middle will be nice,
- 3:21Speaker 2: and just get that offense to open up a little bit.
- 3:23Speaker 2: And I think it's one thing having all those penalties
- 3:27Speaker 2: against the likes of the Broncos who are struggling, but
- 3:30Speaker 2: you cannot do that against the Chargers. They're a much
- 3:32Speaker 2: higher caliber team at the minute. We'll get into it
- 3:36Speaker 2: as well. I just think that Jim Jim Harbaugh has
- 3:39Speaker 2: completely re energized this franchise, this team, and of course
- 3:43Speaker 2: the players have responded to his leadership. I think we've
- 3:46Speaker 2: seen their fruits of that very early on the season.
- 3:48Speaker 2: So the Chargers are they're not gonna be a pushover,
- 3:52Speaker 2: and they're gonna they're gonna give us, They're gonna give
- 3:54Speaker 2: us a fight.
- 3:55Speaker 1: It's gonna be a good matchup for the neutral hopefully
- 3:57Speaker 1: a good matchup for Steelers. Fawn Stavo can't be the
- 4:00Speaker 1: home opener. He can't beat that, that that one bottled
- 4:03Speaker 1: up jar of emotion that lets loose once a year
- 4:06Speaker 1: when people are happy stairs footballs back. It's been back
- 4:09Speaker 1: for a couple of weeks, but there's nothing like that
- 4:10Speaker 1: home opener, is there?
- 4:12Speaker 3: The home opener is special?
- 4:13Speaker 4: Michael having said that, you know, everybody knows how well
- 4:16Speaker 4: our fans travel. I mean, both of the games so far,
- 4:18Speaker 4: fat like hoping up from the noise in the stands
- 4:20Speaker 4: you can hear to the TV. But all of a sudden,
- 4:23Speaker 4: you know our record too, you know, I mean, after
- 4:25Speaker 4: what happened on Monday night with Kirk Cousins walking into
- 4:27Speaker 4: Philly and gett a win, that win against the Falcons
- 4:29Speaker 4: doesn't seem too bad. So yeah, I'm really optimistic, you know,
- 4:33Speaker 4: just obviously on the Chargers, you know, under Jim Harbaugh.
- 4:36Speaker 4: First things first, you know, there are clear improvements. You know,
- 4:39Speaker 4: for one, they've now get an offensive line. They won't
- 4:42Speaker 4: let Justin Herbert get killed in about two seconds and
- 4:45Speaker 4: haven't said that. I've just looked at the injury report.
- 4:47Speaker 4: Just Herbert is denis questionable. Whether that's something that we
- 4:50Speaker 4: can look into, I don't know, of course, you know
- 4:52Speaker 4: Joe alt theft overall pick tackle at a Notre Dame.
- 4:56Speaker 4: He's an obvious improvement. Alongside is a Rushaw Slater who's
- 4:59Speaker 4: already an absolute star at left tackle. So that's going
- 5:01Speaker 4: to be an interesting battle on the defensive line, and
- 5:05Speaker 4: just on Jim Harball as well. You know, a bit
- 5:07Speaker 4: like Mike Tomlin. When he speaks, he'll listen. You know,
- 5:10Speaker 4: he's as as simple as that. He's just like Tomlin.
- 5:13Speaker 4: He's a massive character. Me personally, I'm delighted to see
- 5:15Speaker 4: him back in the league. You know, you know, everywhere
- 5:17Speaker 4: he wins if you look, you know, from Stanford, turned
- 5:20Speaker 4: the losing program into Bible contenders, took over at San Francisco.
- 5:24Speaker 3: One year later he's in the super Bowl.
- 5:25Speaker 4: And then obviously with Michigan what happened was clear, you know,
- 5:29Speaker 4: winning a Narsenal title. So you know, he's great at
- 5:31Speaker 4: hitting the ground, running early, which is proven, which is
- 5:33Speaker 4: something we have to be a world And then you know,
- 5:35Speaker 4: all of that said, you know, what's the game against
- 5:37Speaker 4: the Raiders. Having said that, it wasn't massively impressed, but
- 5:39Speaker 4: there's definitely holes we will be able to capitalize in
- 5:41Speaker 4: that secondary. You know, Darwin James massive important piece to them.
- 5:44Speaker 4: We're going to say I'm not that secondary, something that
- 5:46Speaker 4: we can be heading on. So he's two and four
- 5:49Speaker 4: against the Steelers, you know in his career. I believe
- 5:52Speaker 4: we have the momentum to turn that into two and five.
- 5:53Speaker 4: Let's just hope we can. We can keep that promise
- 5:55Speaker 4: in all that to performance that we've been talking about
- 5:58Speaker 4: so far, keeping that goal.
- 6:00Speaker 1: No matter what happens this week, I will see you
- 6:02Speaker 1: guys among hundreds of people next week at the Falter
- 6:05Speaker 1: Steelers watch party. It's sold out in the Hogan Suite
- 6:08Speaker 1: in the iconic Crow Park where the Staters played in
- 6:10Speaker 1: nineteen ninety seven and the Staters recently a few weeks
- 6:14Speaker 1: ago offered an opportunity for some fans and we're unable
- 6:17Speaker 1: to get tickets for the Hogan Suite. By introducing what
- 6:20Speaker 1: we said previously, there is the End Zone the Coup Park.
- 6:22Speaker 1: It's a newly developed space inside the stadium which will
- 6:25Speaker 1: provide Staeters fans the ability to watch the Staeters Coats
- 6:29Speaker 1: game together in an American sports bar styled atmosphere. You'll
- 6:33Speaker 1: have the opportunity to purchase both food and beverage and
- 6:35Speaker 1: authentic Steelers merchandise on the night, and I'm sure they'll
- 6:39Speaker 1: be waving your tiles like us lad's next week. We're
- 6:41Speaker 1: really looking forward to this game. First off this week,
- 6:43Speaker 1: before we talk about a bit more about the Chargers,
- 6:46Speaker 1: let's hear what Mike Tomlin has to say ahead of
- 6:48Speaker 1: this matchup this week.
- 6:51Speaker 5: Now I'll push forward toward the Chargers May I really
- 6:55Speaker 5: excited about this match up. Excited for a lot of reasons. First,
- 6:59Speaker 5: it's our first home game, and it's nothing like playing
- 7:04Speaker 5: an actorture for us. We respect it, but it's still exciting. Nonetheless,
- 7:11Speaker 5: we realize that we got a lot to do with
- 7:12Speaker 5: what goes on in that environment, and so in that spirit,
- 7:15Speaker 5: we're preparing with an edge. I'm also excited because we're
- 7:18Speaker 5: playing a dominant two or oh football group. A group
- 7:22Speaker 5: that's done is about as much as you could do
- 7:24Speaker 5: at this early stages of the season. They've won some
- 7:27Speaker 5: games in convincing, convincing fashion. They've controlled a line of scrimmage.
- 7:32Speaker 5: In both games, they taken the ball away and they
- 7:35Speaker 5: done a nice job of securing the ball. In both games,
- 7:40Speaker 5: they played to a definitive personality. One that I am
- 7:43Speaker 5: very familiar with, although they are new as a collective.
- 7:48Speaker 5: If you talk about the offense, man, it starts first
- 7:50Speaker 5: and foremost with the architect, Greg Roman. Have a lot
- 7:53Speaker 5: of respect for Greg, competed against him allowed over the years,
- 7:58Speaker 5: obviously in the AFC North. A lot of what I
- 8:00Speaker 5: see on tape, and what we see on tape is
- 8:02Speaker 5: very familiar. He has a mode of operation, but all
- 8:06Speaker 5: the good ones do out of magic. He doesn't care
- 8:09Speaker 5: that we know his mode of operation, but that's why
- 8:12Speaker 5: he is who he is in this game, and the
- 8:16Speaker 5: tape looks like that. He's got some familiar people, guys
- 8:19Speaker 5: that have experienced within his system, JK and Gus in
- 8:23Speaker 5: the backfield, but also Bozeman at center Hurst and Tomlinson
- 8:27Speaker 5: at tight end, And so you're talking about some guys.
- 8:30Speaker 5: There's a splattering of guys throughout the offense who's got
- 8:33Speaker 5: experience there and it's probably aided in a big way
- 8:36Speaker 5: in terms of them building the foundation of that culture.
- 8:40Speaker 5: When you got some guys that nod in that knowing
- 8:43Speaker 5: way and have been around you before, and it's an
- 8:46Speaker 5: asset to you, and they look mature beyond two games
- 8:49Speaker 5: in terms of their collective unit maturity obviously, JK and
- 8:54Speaker 5: Gus got a lot to do with that. Guys that
- 8:56Speaker 5: have played within this scheme and understand what he's trying
- 8:59Speaker 5: to get done and have talents that fit that game.
- 9:02Speaker 5: It's gonna be a big challenge for us.
- 9:05Speaker 1: You're listening to the Irish Studters podcast and you just
- 9:08Speaker 1: heard from head coach Mike Tomlin. He's had a really
- 9:10Speaker 1: really good good week as Dave or as Davog said
- 9:14Speaker 1: before we went off there, there's always a bit of crack,
- 9:17Speaker 1: a bit of fun with coach Tomlin, and definitely the
- 9:20Speaker 1: case this week as well. The hot dog ingredients of
- 9:22Speaker 1: anybody's seen that on social media this week and going
- 9:25Speaker 1: into week Free Jimmy, the Chargers are in an interesting
- 9:29Speaker 1: situation obviously. You know, you see a situation where when
- 9:34Speaker 1: Harber comes in, they allow Justin Herbert to maybe relax
- 9:37Speaker 1: more and use the run game more, which is great
- 9:39Speaker 1: to see. And you see JK. Dobbins who comes in
- 9:41Speaker 1: and he's really re evaluated and find a way to
- 9:44Speaker 1: completely changed his career up. But Herbert is not fully
- 9:47Speaker 1: fit going into this game this week, and at the
- 9:49Speaker 1: time of recording, yes, he's taken part in practice, you
- 9:52Speaker 1: would expect him to play, but it'll be interesting to
- 9:54Speaker 1: see how fit he is, but also what this defense
- 9:57Speaker 1: like for him.
- 9:59Speaker 2: Yeah, think obviously that the Steers are the Chargers have
- 10:03Speaker 2: a lot of weapons, Michael, and it's gonna be up
- 10:05Speaker 2: to our defense to do what they've been doing for
- 10:07Speaker 2: the past two games. And that's just absolutely ball out.
- 10:10Speaker 2: I mean t J One on one side of the
- 10:12Speaker 2: of the defensive line, Alex Heisman and the other. They've
- 10:15Speaker 2: been absolutely relentless in their pursuit of the quarterback. It's
- 10:19Speaker 2: almost as if you know every every snap they're get,
- 10:22Speaker 2: they're getting after the quarterback. And I think all no
- 10:25Speaker 2: matter how good the Chargers line is, they're going to
- 10:27Speaker 2: have their work cut out for them with two of
- 10:29Speaker 2: the best edge rushers in the league. But it's like
- 10:31Speaker 2: you say, I mean, if the if the Chargers do
- 10:34Speaker 2: have to rely on Dubbins, our linebackers have been decent
- 10:38Speaker 2: as stopping the runs low and the rundown so far
- 10:40Speaker 2: this season. So I don't believe we've had a rushing
- 10:42Speaker 2: touchdowns scored and as yet over over two games, so
- 10:47Speaker 2: that that's great to see. Look, I think it's just
- 10:49Speaker 2: business as usual. For the for the defense, and Quinton
- 10:54Speaker 2: Johnson will be a deep threat. I mean, we'll see
- 10:56Speaker 2: if if Herbert is able able to target in. But
- 10:59Speaker 2: Joey Porter, you're in our staty should be able to
- 11:01Speaker 2: take care of that. And I'm not too worried about
- 11:04Speaker 2: the about our defense, and I'm worried aboutter offense more so,
- 11:09Speaker 2: like like we said earlier, I would like to see
- 11:11Speaker 2: more production there, more consistency there. We're going to have
- 11:14Speaker 2: a crowd behind this in Acrosher Stadium. It's going to
- 11:16Speaker 2: be absolutely buzzing for the home opener, and look it's
- 11:20Speaker 2: it's gonna be a great game.
- 11:21Speaker 1: I think, dollg I was in Cookstown yesterday in an
- 11:24Speaker 1: unnamed supermarket and I've seen somebody in the TJ Watchers.
- 11:28Speaker 1: They followed with you for a second. It definitely wasn't
- 11:30Speaker 1: shows you how big Steelers Nation truly is. They're going
- 11:33Speaker 1: to be pumped a Sunday for this home Is there
- 11:35Speaker 1: any other aspect or element of that Chargers team that
- 11:37Speaker 1: you're looking at going this is gonna be one to watch?
- 11:40Speaker 4: Yeah, I think the obvious one is their past Rushamin
- 11:43Speaker 4: Kile Mack and Joey Bosa is our obvious threats. This is,
- 11:48Speaker 4: without a doubt, going to be our offensive lines most tough,
- 11:51Speaker 4: difficult assignment so far. But I feel, to be honest,
- 11:54Speaker 4: I feel as it's more less the same as last week.
- 11:56Speaker 4: You know, of course they are offensive weapons. There may
- 11:58Speaker 4: be a bit better than the Bronco You know, Quinton Johnson,
- 12:01Speaker 4: you know, he's a first round pick from last year,
- 12:03Speaker 4: he didn't live up to a lot of expectations. And
- 12:05Speaker 4: then jim Harball comes in. He scores two touchdowns, He's
- 12:07Speaker 4: already equaled a tally from last year and two weeks in.
- 12:10Speaker 4: Having said that, that was against the Panthers. And of
- 12:13Speaker 4: course JK Dobbins, he's another one. He's up for comeback
- 12:15Speaker 4: player of the Year after an aster in jay last
- 12:18Speaker 4: year with the Ravens. But I feel if our league
- 12:21Speaker 4: is the best defense, I'm gonna call us that because
- 12:23Speaker 4: I believe we are. We have the best defense in
- 12:25Speaker 4: the league. Can silence those two. I don't think there's
- 12:27Speaker 4: not much else to shout about, you know. I want
- 12:31Speaker 4: to see more of that relationship, you know between Justin
- 12:33Speaker 4: Veders and George Peckins blossom, just as Jimmy said, and
- 12:36Speaker 4: also want to see more of pot Farmouf. We've got
- 12:37Speaker 4: a glimpses of it last week and he was pretty
- 12:40Speaker 4: it was pretty on top of his form. So that's
- 12:43Speaker 4: really what I want to see. I just want to
- 12:44Speaker 4: see that the progression in the offense. And number one
- 12:47Speaker 4: thing for me as well, please please please get these
- 12:50Speaker 4: panalties finished with. I don't want to see any flags
- 12:52Speaker 4: this week. I sticked bat I said last week. We
- 12:55Speaker 4: could have won by three scorers last week if we
- 12:57Speaker 4: just kept the penalties sub you know, a minimum. But
- 13:00Speaker 4: I feel that's really the key to the factory, and
- 13:02Speaker 4: I think we will win, whether it's by the defense
- 13:06Speaker 4: side or the offensive side.
- 13:07Speaker 3: Both.
- 13:08Speaker 4: You know, need ship in here. So I am confident,
- 13:11Speaker 4: but of course I'm warrious at the same time.
- 13:13Speaker 1: Yeah, it's gonna be one of those games where we're worried,
- 13:16Speaker 1: but we're confident. It's a typical leaders games looking forward
- 13:19Speaker 1: to and we've heard Mike Tomlin. Let's here from two
- 13:21Speaker 1: players before we look at our keys to the game
- 13:23Speaker 1: and make our picks for this week the match up.
- 13:25Speaker 1: Let's firstly here from Patrick Queen and then the king
- 13:30Speaker 1: of the Pittsburgh offense at the minute, George Pickins on
- 13:33Speaker 1: the Irish Hitters podcast.
- 13:34Speaker 3: Does JK look like your old teammate?
- 13:36Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, he definitely does. I love JK still one
- 13:40Speaker 6: of my best friends, still talk to him to this day.
- 13:43Speaker 6: He's just a great guy, great player, and I'm happy
- 13:45Speaker 6: to see him getting back to hisself. But as far
- 13:48Speaker 6: as me, how I want shut it down. He's the
- 13:49Speaker 6: leading russell right now, So just being able to go
- 13:52Speaker 6: out there and shut him down, give me brag and
- 13:54Speaker 6: rice and just help the team win.
- 13:56Speaker 3: What makes him such a challenge?
- 13:58Speaker 6: He got everything he got, He got the speed, got
- 14:01Speaker 6: the borse, He's just all around good back. Uh. He
- 14:03Speaker 6: can do every single thing on the field. And I
- 14:06Speaker 6: think people want to under messed, underest admitting him this year,
- 14:10Speaker 6: knowing that he had the injuries and stuff. But he
- 14:12Speaker 6: like his little self to me.
- 14:13Speaker 3: Wow, I know they like to run a football, But
- 14:15Speaker 3: what is it about Justin Herbert that makes him a challenge?
- 14:17Speaker 3: What have you seen as he's kind of.
- 14:18Speaker 6: Matured in his league. Yeah, Uh, he can make it
- 14:20Speaker 6: every single throw in the field. He'll take chances and
- 14:22Speaker 6: get the ball into places that most quarterbacks can. His
- 14:25Speaker 6: arm strength, Uh, him being able to look guys off
- 14:28Speaker 6: and still be able to deliver the ball on time
- 14:30Speaker 6: and in crazy places.
- 14:32Speaker 4: Uh.
- 14:32Speaker 6: He's just he's one of the top five quarterbacks to
- 14:34Speaker 6: me in this league when it comes to arm talent
- 14:36Speaker 6: and be able to place the ball where he wants
- 14:38Speaker 6: to and with the offense. They don't try to over
- 14:40Speaker 6: complicate it. It basically sending neuro overseas where they need to
- 14:44Speaker 6: be over the ball and try to get get them
- 14:45Speaker 6: the ball.
- 14:46Speaker 7: And you really had the run games that you guys
- 14:48Speaker 7: have faced the last two weeks kind of prepares you
- 14:50Speaker 7: for this test.
- 14:51Speaker 6: Uh. I think they're all different. I think everybody's has
- 14:53Speaker 6: their own mix. Uh, a thing they like to do.
- 14:55Speaker 6: In Gero, I think has like one of the most
- 14:57Speaker 6: complicated run games when it comes to stuff like that. So,
- 15:01Speaker 6: you know, it definitely prepared us. But this week, like
- 15:03Speaker 6: I said, it's a day by day thing. We gotta
- 15:04Speaker 6: get better this week. We gotta be able to handle
- 15:06Speaker 6: stuff that we got this week.
- 15:07Speaker 8: But I know you weren't here, but he rushed for
- 15:09Speaker 8: ninety yards on the Steelers the last the time they played.
- 15:11Speaker 3: How much do you have to count for it?
- 15:12Speaker 6: For Herbert's feet? Yeah, uh, I heard about that and stuff.
- 15:15Speaker 6: You know, any time we gotta quarterback that can run.
- 15:17Speaker 6: We gotta have focus on that. And you know whoever
- 15:20Speaker 6: job that is wow at the time. Uh that's why
- 15:22Speaker 6: I said, everybody has to do their own job and
- 15:25Speaker 6: be gready doing their own job. Uh cause if we
- 15:28Speaker 6: let him do stuff like that and they'll be able
- 15:30Speaker 6: to uh get to the red zone and you know,
- 15:31Speaker 6: the wrong game. It's hard to stopping the rad zone.
- 15:33Speaker 6: So we just gotta be all on our be all
- 15:35Speaker 6: our best jobs, do what we gotta do. Handle Herbert
- 15:40Speaker 6: had no JK Handel Gus and all those guys that
- 15:42Speaker 6: they got being able to run the ball. Like I said,
- 15:44Speaker 6: you bro had to complicated a run game, So we
- 15:46Speaker 6: gotta be on best uh game.
- 15:48Speaker 9: What are you looking forward to most about your first
- 15:50Speaker 9: game at averture as a stealer Oregar season?
- 15:52Speaker 6: Yeah, Uh, I'm ready to hear renting game in the fourth quarter. Uh,
- 15:55Speaker 6: That's that's what I've been waiting on. But uh I
- 15:57Speaker 6: just can't wait to uh get in front of the
- 15:58Speaker 6: fans and just play our herds. So uh play as
- 16:00Speaker 6: hard as we can, get the fans the best game
- 16:02Speaker 6: they can and get a win in there. When you
- 16:04Speaker 6: were on the opposite side, what do you think of
- 16:05Speaker 6: when they played Renegade? Did it bother you or did
- 16:08Speaker 6: you even notice it was playing?
- 16:09Speaker 5: Or?
- 16:09Speaker 4: Uh?
- 16:10Speaker 6: The first two times I didn't notice, and then uh,
- 16:12Speaker 6: Horror said something about the end the meeting, and I
- 16:15Speaker 6: just remember he was like, we gonna be in a
- 16:17Speaker 6: close game this and that we can get to towns.
- 16:18Speaker 6: We gonna way, we gonnaeel it, we gonna make it
- 16:21Speaker 6: our own song and stuff. So you definitely didn't notice
- 16:24Speaker 6: in the first few years until he said something about it.
- 16:25Speaker 6: But just once you realize what they're doing, and it's
- 16:30Speaker 6: just the electric feelings, electric electric electric place.
- 16:33Speaker 7: Feels like everybody has a Harvard story. Were you recruited
- 16:35Speaker 7: by him or did you get to know him at
- 16:36Speaker 7: all when you were in high school trying to pick
- 16:38Speaker 7: a college?
- 16:39Speaker 3: Uh?
- 16:39Speaker 6: I did not. Uh never got recruited by Harp's Uh
- 16:43Speaker 6: I n honestly don't even at h nothing much about him.
- 16:46Speaker 8: Worse car whatever you gonna know this team since joining
- 16:49Speaker 8: the team and now after six.
- 16:50Speaker 6: Years, Uh everything id I expected that hard knows football team. Uh,
- 16:55Speaker 6: great preparation, great in game discipline. Uh. Everybody loves to
- 16:59Speaker 6: do their job and do at a high level. I
- 17:01Speaker 6: think all the guys around his locker room in jail,
- 17:03Speaker 6: well mess, Well, you got different guys in here that
- 17:05Speaker 6: like different things and uh could do different things well,
- 17:08Speaker 6: and everybody's just taking accountability, you know, owning up to mistakes,
- 17:12Speaker 6: owning up to uh things that we got to do better.
- 17:14Speaker 6: I think that's the biggest thing for us right now
- 17:16Speaker 6: that got into pen Where do you think you guys
- 17:18Speaker 6: can improve everywhere? I think run game it's a few
- 17:22Speaker 6: little slips. I think past game me personally, just not
- 17:27Speaker 6: tryna take up people head off every single play, tryna
- 17:30Speaker 6: calm that down, get back to my old ways and stuff. Uh.
- 17:32Speaker 6: Just I think everything can improve past game, odds, run game,
- 17:36Speaker 6: hands feet, every single player on this team can get better.
- 17:39Speaker 9: At you feel like you rush 'em a little bit
- 17:41Speaker 9: like personally or what did what did you.
- 17:42Speaker 6: Mean by not personally at all? Uh? It's just you know,
- 17:44Speaker 6: you getting a t new environment and stuff. You try
- 17:47Speaker 6: to just set the tone and stuff. But I think
- 17:51Speaker 6: as far as though seat tackle see you know that
- 17:52Speaker 6: I'm always talking about just gotta settle down, just get
- 17:55Speaker 6: back to my always.
- 17:56Speaker 7: We've heard a lot about how Justin is has continent incident.
- 18:00Speaker 7: It's pretty even. How have you kind of seen that?
- 18:02Speaker 2: What is what are se.
- 18:03Speaker 7: Moment where you realize like, wow, this guy really.
- 18:05Speaker 6: Is even keel Yeah, I already I already knew it
- 18:07Speaker 6: just from watching him from Afar.
- 18:08Speaker 4: Uh.
- 18:09Speaker 6: I always supported just and always wanted him to be
- 18:11Speaker 6: that guy. And eventually, you know, Chicago moved on and
- 18:14Speaker 6: we got him. So just being up here close and personal, Uh,
- 18:17Speaker 6: like I said, I could be more proud of him
- 18:18Speaker 6: my senior man Adele extremely well. I think the things
- 18:21Speaker 6: that here he's doing, taking care of the ball, just
- 18:24Speaker 6: you know, not tryna force anything, just being himself if
- 18:27Speaker 6: he can't see it, taking off. Uh, I think everything
- 18:29Speaker 6: he's doing this extremely well right now.
- 18:31Speaker 9: Ben said, he's a pretty apologetic for the penalties. It
- 18:34Speaker 9: when you get your touchdown, you know what's that say
- 18:38Speaker 9: about a guy like that?
- 18:38Speaker 8: But like to to be honest, it wasn't you know,
- 18:42Speaker 8: really his fault. Guy kind of ran into him.
- 18:44Speaker 1: But uh, you.
- 18:45Speaker 7: Know why you was playing next play for sure since
- 18:49Speaker 7: you getting about them defensively for Chargers work.
- 18:52Speaker 8: Uh, it just kind of do the same thing that
- 18:54Speaker 8: is still as defensive, to be honest, it's one of
- 18:56Speaker 8: the same through for a base so, yeah, how.
- 18:58Speaker 7: Have you seen maybe Justin's ball placement change or improved
- 19:03Speaker 7: over the last two weeks? Felt like he was really
- 19:05Speaker 7: precise in his throws on Sunday.
- 19:07Speaker 8: Oh yeah, you know, just getting out of the pocket,
- 19:10Speaker 8: that's the biggest thing, you know, really got a lot
- 19:11Speaker 8: of pressure.
- 19:12Speaker 6: Him throwing on a run was kind of.
- 19:14Speaker 8: His repertoire from Justin till for years. So it's not
- 19:18Speaker 8: like anything you know that like super wild meat. But
- 19:21Speaker 8: it was very much special to.
- 19:22Speaker 4: See that one that got negated by the whole downfield.
- 19:26Speaker 6: Where you're surprised that ball bell tray.
- 19:28Speaker 3: You kind of come to expect that from me.
- 19:30Speaker 8: No, no, no, no no, I'm never surprised at the
- 19:32Speaker 8: ball's coming coming my way. I'm just here to make
- 19:35Speaker 8: him play.
- 19:35Speaker 3: What he say about that bro though, once she got like.
- 19:38Speaker 8: I said that was special, by she actually the same
- 19:39Speaker 8: thing I said, it special to see.
- 19:42Speaker 7: How have you seen Justin maybe get more comfortable from
- 19:45Speaker 7: leek one to week two? In what ways it did
- 19:47Speaker 7: he kind of improve?
- 19:49Speaker 8: Uh you know, it's kind of a different scame this
- 19:52Speaker 8: second week bout them playing a lot of men. But
- 19:55Speaker 8: as far as his his his progression, Uh, it's kind
- 19:58Speaker 8: of it's pretty good, you know what I mean. He
- 20:00Speaker 8: did the same thing at first of the soon, So
- 20:02Speaker 8: I feel like we're just rolling right now.
- 20:04Speaker 9: You've seen the type of coverage you thought you would
- 20:06Speaker 9: come into the year. You're getting a lot of double
- 20:08Speaker 9: things and you're getting used to that.
- 20:11Speaker 8: Oh yeah, just making plays. You still gotta beat double seed.
- 20:15Speaker 9: It's like, yeah, if you guys said you feel like
- 20:18Speaker 9: you're rolling, what is it like about what you guys
- 20:20Speaker 9: are doing right now?
- 20:22Speaker 8: Just the plays, you know, getting vertical downstare making plays,
- 20:25Speaker 8: winning games. That's pretty much it.
- 20:28Speaker 7: What has to happen for you guys to finish some
- 20:30Speaker 7: of those drives in the end zone more often.
- 20:33Speaker 8: Like you said in negated by penalty, that can't happen,
- 20:38Speaker 8: you know, just being clean.
- 20:40Speaker 7: When you met justin playing seven on seven, did you
- 20:43Speaker 7: notice him having an aura or anything of this quiet confidence?
- 20:46Speaker 7: When Dan Moore was talking about medium he's even noticed
- 20:49Speaker 7: in aura but either back then, could you get that
- 20:51Speaker 7: sense from him?
- 20:52Speaker 8: Oh yeah, that's kind of how he always kind of
- 20:53Speaker 8: been if you get to know him. Actually, that's kind
- 20:56Speaker 8: of how he always did.
- 20:58Speaker 9: Georgia, I I'm just talking and Troy and Dan they
- 21:00Speaker 9: were talking a little bit about they said, Arthur Smith said,
- 21:04Speaker 9: the damn's about the break with this offense.
- 21:06Speaker 2: Do you feel like that's you agree with that too?
- 21:08Speaker 8: Oh yeah, kind of like he said, negated by penalty.
- 21:11Speaker 8: So I feel like the dam's already, you know, kind
- 21:14Speaker 8: of breaking that. Penalties just can't happen. You know, we
- 21:17Speaker 8: got to have.
- 21:18Speaker 6: A play a clean game.
- 21:19Speaker 8: But then again, also what the guy's play on the field.
- 21:22Speaker 9: A lot of people talk about the second receiver with
- 21:25Speaker 9: Deontay going, how do you think that's progressed?
- 21:27Speaker 5: And do you think as everything.
- 21:29Speaker 3: Involves del stort what you said? What you said, But
- 21:32Speaker 3: there's been a.
- 21:32Speaker 9: Lot of talk about the second receiver now that Deontay's going,
- 21:35Speaker 9: how do you think that's progressed? For the guys you've
- 21:37Speaker 9: had out there so far and you see improvements there.
- 21:41Speaker 8: I don't know who's talking about the second receive.
- 21:44Speaker 3: I haven't heard anybody talk about it.
- 21:46Speaker 8: The guys that's on the field, they just keep working
- 21:48Speaker 8: every time. Like I said, Van scottie s keywords.
- 21:52Speaker 7: How much would help the offense if and when rowand
- 21:55Speaker 7: Wilson is able to get out on the field and
- 21:57Speaker 7: contribute to this receiving court.
- 21:59Speaker 8: It'll be good. You know, everybody has a different value
- 22:02Speaker 8: seventy team, so it'll be good. Just waiting on and
- 22:05Speaker 8: you know, get healthy.
- 22:06Speaker 7: How much better can you beg Like.
- 22:09Speaker 8: I said, we're doing pretty good right now while winning.
- 22:14Speaker 1: We are getting ready for the third Staters regular season
- 22:17Speaker 1: game of the twenty twenty four NFL season. You're listening
- 22:20Speaker 1: to the Irish Theaters podcast Michael Look with Jimmy Engler,
- 22:22Speaker 1: stavalg McKey, and we are set lads for this big,
- 22:27Speaker 1: big game this week where you know, Jimmy, you know
- 22:30Speaker 1: you see the Staders going in at two to zero
- 22:32Speaker 1: and it's going to be a really interesting game. I think.
- 22:35Speaker 1: I think one of the keys for me is to
- 22:36Speaker 1: stop that consistency and stop that and motivation that the
- 22:41Speaker 1: Chargers could get if they go on a quick run
- 22:42Speaker 1: at the start of the game. I'd like to see
- 22:44Speaker 1: the run game really stop from the defense, and I
- 22:47Speaker 1: want to see the defense getat get out just in
- 22:49Speaker 1: Herbert in the first quorder and really put a marker down.
- 22:51Speaker 1: You sort of said it yourself earlier on if that happens,
- 22:54Speaker 1: and if you can get a couple of already sacks
- 22:55Speaker 1: on Herbert, who is not one hundred percent fit and
- 22:57Speaker 1: is wearing quite a considerable piece of cuping on his
- 23:01Speaker 1: leg at the moment. I'd love to see what happen,
- 23:04Speaker 1: to see the crowd get on them, and I really
- 23:06Speaker 1: feel that happens. You know, it should go from there.
- 23:08Speaker 1: But obviously want to see the offense do better. But
- 23:11Speaker 1: I feel like it's going to get better each week
- 23:12Speaker 1: and week. And I'm not too concerned about it. But certainly,
- 23:15Speaker 1: you know you certainly you want to see that that
- 23:19Speaker 1: defense continue to take strides and continue to start usself
- 23:22Speaker 1: as the best in the league. What's your key to
- 23:24Speaker 1: the game.
- 23:25Speaker 2: I'm not concerned about the defense whatsoever, Michael are My
- 23:28Speaker 2: key to the game is offense. Defense will look after itself.
- 23:31Speaker 2: Defense will do its job. Defense will do everything that
- 23:33Speaker 2: we said it's going to do. I mean, look, we've
- 23:36Speaker 2: had two sacks and two picks in each of the
- 23:38Speaker 2: in the past two games. That's going to I think
- 23:40Speaker 2: that trend is only going to get better. I would
- 23:42Speaker 2: like to see Minka Fitzpatrick get more involved. He's being
- 23:44Speaker 2: very quiet in terms of past defense. He has been there,
- 23:48Speaker 2: he's been present in run support a lot, but he
- 23:50Speaker 2: hasn't made any splash plays yet, whether he's carrying an injury,
- 23:53Speaker 2: whether he's just at that stagers career, I'm not sure.
- 23:56Speaker 2: Rushing touchdowns, definitely. We need to score on the ground.
- 24:00Speaker 2: We need to bust Nagy and Jalen Free for bigger
- 24:04Speaker 2: gains than they have been getting, and they have to
- 24:06Speaker 2: get into the end zone. And George Pickens has to
- 24:09Speaker 2: score a touchdown, at least one touchdown if not to
- 24:11Speaker 2: he had. He's one hundred percent the best weapon we
- 24:14Speaker 2: have on offense right now, and we just have to
- 24:17Speaker 2: unlock them and get him into the end zone. Points
- 24:20Speaker 2: on the board, Michael, as simple as that point on
- 24:22Speaker 2: the board.
- 24:24Speaker 1: Points a boo, my man, points a boo. Dialogue, Is
- 24:27Speaker 1: there any other key to the game that you're looking
- 24:29Speaker 1: at apart from what we've spoke about putting me on
- 24:31Speaker 1: the spot here, lod No, I'm.
- 24:33Speaker 4: Gonna I'm gonna do what I always do. I'm gonna
- 24:35Speaker 4: echo everything. Just points on the board. I mean, of course,
- 24:40Speaker 4: you know, we it was nice to see last week,
- 24:43Speaker 4: you know, Donal Washington get on the score sheet. I mean,
- 24:47Speaker 4: but I want to see more of our main targets.
- 24:48Speaker 4: As just Jimmy said, you know, George Pekins, I feel
- 24:51Speaker 4: needs that touchdown to get his confidence role and I fail.
- 24:53Speaker 4: Once one comes, It's like London busses, You'll get more
- 24:56Speaker 4: and more common each week. So I feel if we
- 24:59Speaker 4: can just fluently just mold our way into this offense
- 25:02Speaker 4: that we know we can be, I don't see why
- 25:04Speaker 4: we can't run away with this game. So it is
- 25:06Speaker 4: really just you know, keeping the defense, you know, keeping TJ.
- 25:10Speaker 3: Of course we know he's gonna bring it.
- 25:11Speaker 4: Alex Heighsmith as well, and as Jimmy said, getting Mecca
- 25:14Speaker 4: involved more in the past game. You know, we want
- 25:16Speaker 4: to see maybe an interception here and there. I want
- 25:19Speaker 4: to see us properly, ferociously, you know, take this offensive
- 25:22Speaker 4: side of the ball seriously and obviously please no penalty.
- 25:24Speaker 4: That's that's the main keys to the game for me.
- 25:27Speaker 1: No penalties. Let's make our picks. Like I said, seis
- 25:29Speaker 1: win this Jimmy, twenty one to ten, I was gonna
- 25:34Speaker 1: say seventeen. I thought, no, that's not right. Twenty one
- 25:36Speaker 1: to ten? Who you got flee?
- 25:37Speaker 5: Flee?
- 25:38Speaker 1: Know I was.
- 25:40Speaker 2: My heart says one thing, my head says another. But
- 25:42Speaker 2: I'm gonna listen to my heart and this one and
- 25:44Speaker 2: I'm going to go Steelers winning by twenty four to
- 25:47Speaker 2: twenty one. I do think our offense unlocks itself a
- 25:51Speaker 2: little bit. I do think we get scores, and I
- 25:56Speaker 2: think it's going to come down to a late balls
- 25:58Speaker 2: field goal to get us over the break and get
- 26:00Speaker 2: into the three and O mark going into going into
- 26:04Speaker 2: Lucas Oil Field for the watch party. Top of the
- 26:08Speaker 2: division and as one of the best teams in the AFC.
- 26:11Speaker 6: I love it.
- 26:12Speaker 1: Another AFC West matchup Opponland this week, do vogue. I
- 26:15Speaker 1: have a lovely trustee Steelers fridge magnet here which I
- 26:18Speaker 1: bought last week. And Chargers this week that cold scheme
- 26:22Speaker 1: that Jimmy's talking about. And then Dallas is the game
- 26:24Speaker 1: you want to try and mark down home opener. Dallas
- 26:27Speaker 1: is a home as well in prime time. Get the
- 26:29Speaker 1: win over the Chargers, go free.
- 26:30Speaker 4: No degree, absolutely, I expected to be a little higher
- 26:35Speaker 4: scorer in this week than last week. I think both
- 26:38Speaker 4: teams will come out swinging, and both teams are gonna
- 26:40Speaker 4: believe they can win this game. But I fail that
- 26:42Speaker 4: mc tomlin will have knuckled down this week and you know,
- 26:44Speaker 4: and fix this issue with a penalty. So in that case,
- 26:48Speaker 4: I think we could win this one as well. A
- 26:49Speaker 4: bit of a strange one.
- 26:50Speaker 3: I ain't going twenty to twenty.
- 26:52Speaker 4: I don't know if that's a score gamy, probably not,
- 26:54Speaker 4: but could come down to, as Jimmy said the Wizard
- 26:58Speaker 4: of Boss, I reckon, maybe a leet failed could do
- 27:01Speaker 4: it and I would be surprised. So yeah, I'm going
- 27:03Speaker 4: twenty two twenty Steelers and take that to the bank in.
- 27:09Speaker 1: Twenty two. Twenty has happened eighteen times, and the last
- 27:11Speaker 1: time it happened was last year between the Dolphins and
- 27:14Speaker 1: the Cowboys. Did I google score Agami, Yes I did.
- 27:17Speaker 1: Twenty two, twenty five, twenty five twenty two has never happened.
- 27:21Speaker 1: So there you go, if you will. I love hearing
- 27:24Speaker 1: you say take it to the bank every week, one
- 27:26Speaker 1: like a genuinely makes I think every Sailors fans week
- 27:28Speaker 1: in Ireland take it to the bank.
- 27:30Speaker 4: Well, it's I was say, I'm working on the trademark
- 27:33Speaker 4: at the moment, just gonna have to get in there
- 27:35Speaker 4: before someone else stales it.
- 27:36Speaker 2: So can'll get you a ta sher for We'll get
- 27:38Speaker 2: you a T shirt printed for pisy.
- 27:41Speaker 4: Don't just don't put my face on us. I'll be
- 27:43Speaker 4: happen off. Just don't put my face on the place.
- 27:45Speaker 4: I'd appreciate that.
- 27:46Speaker 1: Get get a printed for next weekend. Never mind Pittsburgh.
- 27:49Speaker 1: I know you guys have a few big weeks ahead
- 27:51Speaker 1: of you there and it's gonna be great to watch
- 27:52Speaker 1: them as far as well. And big weekend ahead next week.
- 27:55Speaker 1: Really excited for folks. If you're heading down to Dublin
- 27:58Speaker 1: next week, please use the hashtag Steve Ireland. We will
- 28:01Speaker 1: most likely do a podcast early in the week looking
- 28:04Speaker 1: ahead to that, and I'm sure it'll be really cool
- 28:07Speaker 1: stuff happening next week whenever we see two Steelers legends
- 28:12Speaker 1: head over along with different members of the organization. So
- 28:14Speaker 1: very much looking forward to, but also a lots appreciate
- 28:16Speaker 1: the time and effort that the team are putting into
- 28:19Speaker 1: the Irish market. It's you know, we're seeing it's slightly
- 28:22Speaker 1: replicated across the water in the UK, but I don't
- 28:25Speaker 1: think that the scale next week is going to be incredible,
- 28:27Speaker 1: And yeah, I can't wait. It's gonna be awesome. You
- 28:30Speaker 1: look at a child of Christmas, tim me right now,
- 28:31Speaker 1: you look buzzing.
- 28:32Speaker 2: I'm very very excited, Michael. It's going to be a
- 28:34Speaker 2: great night. It's one of the highlights of the season
- 28:37Speaker 2: for me at this stage, and long made last, and
- 28:41Speaker 2: long may we have as many watch parties official watch
- 28:43Speaker 2: parties as possible in Ireland. I think it's a great
- 28:47Speaker 2: thing for the sport here and as somebody who's been
