Transcript
- 0:03It starts when we're kids. I show off at school making
- 0:09faces at friends. You're a clown and a fool and
- 0:16frat balls and bird balls and bad imitations.
- 0:19Ignoring. Your homework.
- 0:20Is that dedication? You work through the mirror.
- 0:25You're getting standing ovations.
- 0:47Welcome to Hubba Wah, a Muppet quiz show brought to you by
- 0:51toughpigs.com. It's your favorite quiz show.
- 0:54That's not like the others here. Muppet fans, Muppet
- 0:58Professionals, and everyone in between competes for fabulous
- 1:03prizes and to see who's this week's toughest pig.
- 1:08I'm your host, Becca Petunia of toughpigs.com.
- 1:12And folks, we've come to the end of another one.
- 1:15That's right, this is the last episode of the season.
- 1:18Sure, I had to take some time away to get married, but I think
- 1:21we can all agree that we had some incredible episodes this
- 1:24season. I sure hope you all enjoyed
- 1:26them. Now here's the deal.
- 1:28Not only is this the last Hubba Wah episode of the season, it's
- 1:33also going to be the last Hubba Wah episode for a while.
- 1:37I'm going to be putting the series on hold for even longer
- 1:40than usual so I can work on another Muppet podcast idea that
- 1:45I have, but I promise Hubba Wah cannot die.
- 1:49It will not die, but it's going to be hibernating for a bit.
- 1:55But that means that we're going to go out on a bang.
- 1:58Did somebody say bang? That's right.
- 2:06Today's episode is a finale so big I can only call it finale
- 2:12the magic store, like that famous final song from The
- 2:16Muppet Movie. I've invited as many friends as
- 2:20possible to help me out. That's right, we have 3
- 2:24contestants this episode, but also some other special guests.
- 2:30Oh, you're in for a treat that I'm not going to reveal just
- 2:33yet. Also, a warning to our
- 2:36contestants and our audience at home.
- 2:40This is the hardest episode we've ever had.
- 2:43We're going to have some fun with it and learn a lot.
- 2:46But do not be disappointed or surprised if answering these
- 2:49questions is harder than before. Before I elaborate on all these
- 2:54tantalizing details, let's meet our contestants.
- 2:58Like I said, we have 3 contestants this week, and all
- 3:02of them are Muppet Wiki admins. After all, who knows more about
- 3:07The Muppets than the folks behind Muppet Wiki?
- 3:10Hey, while I'm teasing what's coming, did I use Muppet Wiki to
- 3:14write these questions? No.
- 3:17For most of them, I did not. And you're going to find out a
- 3:21little bit more about that soon, too.
- 3:25As always, we have to start by meeting our contestants in our
- 3:29first game to tell a face. Contestants, you're going to
- 3:35buzz in to answer some questions about yourself.
- 3:39Whoever buzzes in first will get introduced first.
- 3:43Ready. Go.
- 3:46All right. Our first contestant to buzz in
- 3:48was Scott. So let's start with you, Scott.
- 3:53What's your name? My name is Scott Hanson.
- 3:57And Scott, what pronouns should we use for you?
- 3:59He. Him.
- 4:01All right, great. Scott, now you've been on this
- 4:04show before, although it was a while ago, and of course you're
- 4:08a long time, long time fixture of the Muppet fan community.
- 4:12Do you want to tell us quickly though, Because it has been a
- 4:15while since you've been on the show.
- 4:17Do you want to tell us quickly what's your history with The
- 4:19Muppets? Sure.
- 4:21Yeah, like a lot of us grew up with The Muppets, forgot about
- 4:25them a little bit toward the end of my teenage years when my
- 4:29daughter was born, I got back into them as a as an adult fan.
- 4:34I soon started helping out Danny Horn running Tough bigs.com,
- 4:40doing a lot of technical and visual stuff for the site, and
- 4:45then together we started Muppet Wiki in December of 2005.
- 4:50All right. And that's true.
- 4:52And you still are one of the Muppet Wiki admins, and you run
- 4:56the Muppet Wiki Twitter account and Instagram.
- 4:59Is there an Instagram? There is.
- 5:01And yeah, social media is a bit of a mess right now, so we have
- 5:05been super active there. But yeah, in theory.
- 5:09But yeah, no. So that's that's where that's
- 5:11where folks at home will know you from.
- 5:13And you know, listen, this episode is both a celebration of
- 5:17Hubblewa but also a celebration of Muppet Wiki.
- 5:20So I got to ask Scott, what are you proudest of on Muppet Wiki?
- 5:25The editors, yeah, yeah. The the the folks who who come
- 5:29together to, to work on something in the spirit of
- 5:33community to just build a better thing.
- 5:37You know, like anybody can start their own website.
- 5:40Anybody can start their own. I mean, I don't know, does
- 5:42anybody do a blog anymore? We used to say blog.
- 5:46Tough Pigs is a blog. Sure.
- 5:48OK, yeah. Yeah, I guess blog isn't anyway
- 5:52we. We started it 23 years ago, but
- 5:55Tough Pigs is a blog. Sure.
- 5:57OK. Yeah, So I I guess my point is
- 6:00that, you know, anybody can and Tough Pigs is is an exception to
- 6:04what I'm about to say in that, you know, tough Pigs is a group
- 6:06of people who come together to do something.
- 6:08And in a similar vein, Muppet Wiki is made-up of a number of
- 6:12editors, hundreds of editors over the years who've come
- 6:16together to to build a a better thing that one individual person
- 6:20could not have done alone. So that's that's what I'm most
- 6:22proud of. That's a really great answer and
- 6:25for that really great answer, I am going to award you 20 points.
- 6:31Sweet. All right.
- 6:33Actually, you know what? I should probably write that
- 6:36down and not try to remember how many points you each have.
- 6:42OK, Now the next person to buzz in was Tony.
- 6:48So Tony, what is your name? I am Baby Bobby's grandmother.
- 6:53No, no, no, no. Tony Whitaker.
- 6:56All right? And.
- 6:58Yeah, Tony, what pronouns should we use for you today?
- 7:01He. Him.
- 7:02All right, great. And Tony, so this is actually
- 7:06your first time on a Tough Pigs podcast.
- 7:10And correct me if I'm wrong, your second time on a podcast.
- 7:15Yep, the first time was for my Quest Falls Advent Calendar
- 7:19House. It was a great episode of Advent
- 7:22Calendar House the One. Talking about the Great Santa
- 7:24Claus Switch with I was with Tori, correct?
- 7:28And so, in other words, you need to tell us what is your history
- 7:34with The Muppets. Well, I guess like for most
- 7:39people, I would like most people it would be for Sesame Street
- 7:431st and guess it was through the show and some hand me down toys
- 7:49for my sisters. Just growing up with that and
- 7:54realizing that, I don't know, there's just something special
- 7:58that connected. There's something special about
- 8:01Sesame Sheet that just connected to me.
- 8:05And over time I just learned more about The Muppets.
- 8:08And after Sesame Sheet came stuff like the Fraggle Rock VHSS
- 8:13from DHBODHBOVHSS. And eventually I found all these
- 8:19books and stuff like Jim Henson, the works of Muppets and Men.
- 8:23I learned more about these people, Jerry Nelson, Richard
- 8:25Hunt, Louise Gold, etcetera. And I don't know, I just
- 8:31nobody's really asked me about this.
- 8:36Well, you know it. It seems like it's always been a
- 8:38part of your life and something that you found interesting in a
- 8:41lot of different ways And one of the ways that it is a part of
- 8:45your life and that you do find it interesting is, like I said,
- 8:48you are a an admin of Muppet Wiki, correct?
- 8:55OK, you. Had joined about a year and a
- 8:56half ago. And what is your proudest
- 8:59accomplishment there? What Scott said.
- 9:03But I don't know what make it more fancy.
- 9:10OK, so fancier than Scott's, that's what.
- 9:14Great. No, no.
- 9:16Recently we did get to finish the Sesame Street episode
- 9:21guides. Yeah, I was hoping one of you
- 9:23would mention that because that's that's something that I,
- 9:26I wanted to call out here on the air.
- 9:29Although at this point, and certainly when everybody listens
- 9:31to this, it's definitely, it'll have been a while ago when did
- 9:34you guys? It's old.
- 9:35News, Becca. When did you finish?
- 9:37Was it September I? Think it was November?
- 9:40Oh, well, it's not that old, New October, so it happened pretty
- 9:47recently. And that's good, because when
- 9:49this episode is coming out, it'll have been X days since
- 9:55then. But the point is, it's an
- 9:58incredible feat and something I know when Muppet Wiki first
- 10:02started I genuinely never thought would happen.
- 10:05You know, as a long time avid Muppet Wiki reader, I joke that
- 10:10I read every article on Muppet Wiki and I never thought it
- 10:14would happen. And now there is an episode
- 10:16guide for every episode of Sesame Street except like the 10
- 10:20lost episodes and even those you've got some stuff for.
- 10:23So it's incredible. There's like 50 something
- 10:27missing? Well then, I guess it's not that
- 10:29exciting of a feat after all. I think that's I forgot who you
- 10:36said it, but there's like there's 0.01% of episodes not
- 10:42found. That was, that was me.
- 10:44That was my match for the thing that I put up on toughpigs.com
- 10:48about this accomplishment. Oh yeah, It's less than 1%.
- 10:52It's, it's it's far less than 1%.
- 10:54It's incredible. And you can just go to click on
- 10:56a click on a random episode number.
- 10:58I do this all the time and just, I don't know, see what, See what
- 11:03all of your friends were up to that week.
- 11:05So much crazy stuff we found like Yorick on Sesame Street.
- 11:10Yorick and and I know Scott, you were talking a lot about that
- 11:14when you were on my show two years ago.
- 11:16You were talking about some of the stuff that you found
- 11:19Taminella and Jim performing, Oscar and stuff like that?
- 11:23What a weird, stupid dog we. Were pretty close to to end game
- 11:30back then but yeah it's it's pretty exciting that we're we're
- 11:33pretty much done now. And to your point Becca too
- 11:37about just clicking on a random episode.
- 11:39If you go to the main Sesame Street episode guide which you
- 11:42can find LinkedIn the the header there are several different
- 11:44links you can click for how to find different you can find
- 11:47random episodes by season, random episodes by decade.
- 11:50So yeah, it's it's a lot of fun to poke through all that stuff.
- 11:53It really is and you can find some great pictures and and
- 11:57funny things you never knew. It's it's amazing.
- 12:00And and for for those who who don't know why, why it might be
- 12:03important to to click on a random link, it's this is not
- 12:06like, you know, a series of Star Trek where there are a very low
- 12:11number of episodes, like around 100 or so.
- 12:14There are over 4500 episodes of Sesame Street.
- 12:16So that's why that's, that's why it's helpful to to you know kind
- 12:20of poke around and not just go one through 4500 you know.
- 12:24Yeah, for 29 years, 130 episodes a season.
- 12:30Crazy. Shane, how many episodes total,
- 12:33you know? No, I don't.
- 12:36You're letting me down, Shane. Whoops.
- 12:38Well, Tony, you have earned 20 points and Shane has lost ten
- 12:45points for not knowing the answer to that question.
- 12:50No, but but Shane, I will ask you as our third contestant,
- 12:56what is your name? Well, my name is Shane Keating.
- 13:01And Shane, what pronouns should we use for you today?
- 13:05He. Him.
- 13:06All right, great. And Shane, you've been on my
- 13:10podcast a bunch and sometimes on the other.
- 13:14Actually, have you been on any of the other Tough Pigs podcasts
- 13:16or just mine? I have been on moving right
- 13:19along OK and the great fandom panel.
- 13:22OK, then you have So people, hey.
- 13:25Hey Scott, I don't think he can hear us, but he's the guy we got
- 13:28to take down. What Just 'cause I am a two time
- 13:33Hubba Wah champion. You didn't hear that?
- 13:38It's true. It's true.
- 13:39Shane. Shane has won twice and and
- 13:43Shane. So I'm saying because we all
- 13:45have heard from you a bunch, We all have a rough idea of your
- 13:48history with The Muppets. Anything you want to add about
- 13:51your history with The Muppets? I used to have Muppets on space
- 13:58on tape. Muppets on space.
- 14:01On space. Yes, Muppets on space.
- 14:04OK. Is what I said and I will stick
- 14:08to that. Is that different from Muppets
- 14:11in Space and Muppets from Space? Yes, you know, it was
- 14:15interesting. They were going to have all all
- 14:18the prepositions. Muppets Behind, Space Muppets
- 14:21over. Space.
- 14:22I wouldn't be surprised if Disney owns all those now.
- 14:27But but Shane, you are also an admin on Muppet Wiki, and what
- 14:32would you say you're proudest of on Muppet Wiki, keeping in mind
- 14:35that all the good ones are taken I.
- 14:37Was going to say, I'm really proud of our page about Farley.
- 14:41I think that one came out really well.
- 14:43All you could ever need to know about Farley.
- 14:45His likes, his dislikes, his family.
- 14:48I have a big update on Farley coming up by the way, about his
- 14:50family, so stay tuned. Scott I'm I'm thrilled.
- 14:55I'm thrilled The only Farley is like, you know, top five
- 14:59favorite things for me to talk about on this podcast. 100%.
- 15:03Pretty much it just after Betty Lou.
- 15:06If I could give oh Nope. No love for Mr. Poodle Pants.
- 15:11No, screw him. There's a bunch should.
- 15:13Stay that way. There's a bunch of poodle pants
- 15:16talk in The Muppets from Space episode that's coming out or
- 15:20that will have come out for those of you at home.
- 15:23But if I could give a non joke answer, The Sesame guide
- 15:27obviously was one of my favorite things.
- 15:30But I really like all the stuff about projects that never got
- 15:33made. Because one thing we are very a
- 15:36big stickler about on the wiki is sources.
- 15:39And the all those pages about things that never got made are
- 15:43so thoroughly researched. They all have impeccable
- 15:46sources. And, you know, it's fun to learn
- 15:49about like, oh, what episodes of The Muppet Show Kermit the Frog
- 15:52is in. Like, that's all right.
- 15:53But finding out about, like, all these movies and specials that
- 15:57never like, nobody's probably ever heard of these things.
- 16:00But we've got them all covered. And a lot of them are very
- 16:03thoroughly covered. And so I'm very proud of those.
- 16:06I I asked about those back in the finale of the first season
- 16:11of Hubba Wah. You did.
- 16:14I wish we could have Snipo and Smoopo.
- 16:19Is that was that one of them? Yes, that was one of your fake
- 16:23ones. Oh, that was one of my.
- 16:25OK, so I don't, I don't remember my fake ones.
- 16:28All right. Well, Shane, you lost 10 points
- 16:32earlier, but I will give you 30 points because you mentioned
- 16:37Farley bringing you to 20 points and thus tying all three of our
- 16:44contestants. You're tough, but fair.
- 16:46I know, tough, but pig see. Scott, this is the stuff I'm
- 16:49talking about. We got to get.
- 16:50We got to take him down. Now why do I sound like Rizzo
- 16:55when I do this? I was going to say you sound
- 16:58like a frackle, and I meant that in a like, kind way, but like
- 17:04you're trying to, you're trying to kidnap Santa behind behind
- 17:08this. Listen, in the in the spirit of
- 17:11of teaming up and taking anybody down with the best trivia I will
- 17:14preface this by saying and I I I've said this before Danny and
- 17:18I started Muppet Wiki to have a place to put our knowledge and
- 17:22sort of forget about it. I am playing with two of the
- 17:24admins right now Shane and Tony who have Muppet Wiki basically
- 17:28living inside their heads. I can.
- 17:30I can bring up stuff in a in a chat that they can point to
- 17:34immediately, so their their knowledge is unparalleled.
- 17:37Well, we're going to, we're going to see that because we are
- 17:40going to get right into the main event.
- 17:44It's time for Sesame Street Sports, and today we take you
- 17:48directly. To.
- 17:50The Sesame Street. Open welcome.
- 17:56Ladies and gentlemen, to the most exciting sports event of
- 17:59the year, the Sesame Street Open.
- 18:07The fans have crowded into the stadium to watch the finals in
- 18:09this year's Sesame Street Open. Let's hear it for now.
- 18:16Like I've been hinting at, this episode is going to be a little
- 18:18different other than our bonus games, anything in the World
- 18:23Prize game and say the word, we are just going to play one game
- 18:27today and that game is a new game that I'm calling Adventure.
- 18:33Here's what's going to happen. I wanted this finale to be kind
- 18:38of special, the kind of thing that gets better when you share
- 18:42it with other people. So I will not be asking any
- 18:46questions until the bonus round. Instead, I've enlisted 22
- 18:52friends of tough pigs. Oh.
- 18:55Boy, all to write the hardest questions that they could think
- 18:59of. Oh boy.
- 19:02I have saved to my computer 22 pre recorded questions from
- 19:09tough pigs writers, tough pigs, editors, friends of the site,
- 19:15past Hubble Wah guests, everybody under the sun and
- 19:20we're going to be going through them in order roughly from
- 19:24easiest to hardest. We are so screwed.
- 19:27Well, Becca, that sounds like a lot of fun, but I have to say,
- 19:30when you said that the theme was going to be Adventure, I thought
- 19:32for sure you were talking about the Sesame Street and Vogue song
- 19:35Adventure. It's almost like that's the
- 19:37audio clip that I'm going to play in a second.
- 19:41Perfect. Let's think of this as a a great
- 19:45big adventure. Yeah.
- 19:49An. Adventure.
- 19:52An adventure is something we promise is gonna excite.
- 19:56You. An adventure.
- 20:01I have arranged these, like I said, roughly from easiest to
- 20:03hardest, right? Well, that's a little
- 20:06subjective, isn't? It it sure is.
- 20:08I sure is. And I I listen.
- 20:10I tried to be. Every episode, I try to arrange
- 20:13the questions roughly in an order, and it always is
- 20:16subjective. And usually it's subjective,
- 20:18because I vividly remember some kind of sketch from like 80s
- 20:23Sesame Street that no one else does.
- 20:26Like when Anthony didn't know about the Grouch song and
- 20:30completely botched my introduction as a result.
- 20:34Because I asked him if he wakes up in the morning mean and
- 20:36grumpy and frowns at everybody that he sees and likes his ice
- 20:39and likes his oatmeal nice and cold and lumpy.
- 20:42And he said, I don't know what you're talking about, so.
- 20:50You thought you were just being rude to him.
- 20:55Oscar would be proud. So anyway, you'll hear that.
- 20:58But the folks at home have heard this.
- 21:00This is the last episode of the season.
- 21:01Anyway, each of these questions is going to be worth 10 points.
- 21:06Now, when the audio clip that I play is over, you can buzz in to
- 21:11answer. So take a deep breath and let's
- 21:15go. We're gonna start with some
- 21:19easier questions. Hi, Shane.
- 21:22Remember Me? Yeah, I remember him.
- 21:26Well, you should buzz in, Shane. Well, that's, that's Ryan Rowe,
- 21:37is it not? Why that is Ryan Rowe.
- 21:39And here's a that is not worth 10 points.
- 21:42Here's a question from Ryan Rowe.
- 21:46It's Ryan Rowe from toughpicks.com.
- 21:48My question is about the Jim Henson Hour, specifically
- 21:51something from the half hour production Song of the Cloud
- 21:56Forest that aired as part of the Jim Henson Hour.
- 21:59The main character of Song of the Cloud Forest is a toad named
- 22:03Milton who lives in the rain forest and he is afraid that he
- 22:08might be the only one left of his species.
- 22:11But over the course of the half hour he does discover another
- 22:16toad, apparently of his same species.
- 22:19So my question is, what is the name of the other toad and which
- 22:25Muppet performer performed that other toad?
- 22:30And I will tell you that before I decided on this question, I
- 22:35checked this character's Muppet Wiki page to see whether you had
- 22:39ever edited it. And you have never edited it.
- 22:42So let's see if you can get this one.
- 22:46I'll take my answer off the air. All right.
- 22:52That's Tony. Tony.
- 22:56I think her name is Rose, but I know she's performed by Camille
- 23:00Bonaro. OK, I am going to, well, I'll
- 23:04play the answer in a second, but I will say you.
- 23:07Are oh wait wait wait wait. I just remembered.
- 23:09OK, Ruth it is. Well, why am I saying that?
- 23:16OK, the answer is the other Toad in Song of the Cloud Forest is
- 23:21named Ruth Milton, and Ruth and Ruth was performed by Camille
- 23:29Benora, who was kind of like one of the Muppet MVPS in those
- 23:33days. Ruth performed by Camille
- 23:36Benora. That's the answer.
- 23:37Did you get it right? Did you get it?
- 23:41I guess I'll have to wait and find out when this episode airs.
- 23:46OK. Bye.
- 23:48Bye, Ryan. All right.
- 23:50So Tony, you are correct. It was Ruth and Camille Bonora,
- 23:55I have given you 10 points for each of those correct answers
- 23:58because Ryan kind of had a two-part question there.
- 24:03We're going to move on to our next question unless anyone has
- 24:06anything they want to say about Ruth and Song of the Cloud
- 24:08Forest. Scott Shane Did you know?
- 24:11I had a reasonable guess on her performer, but I didn't want to
- 24:15give a half answer. Yeah, I.
- 24:17Think I didn't think I could. I was pretty sure it was Camille
- 24:20also, but I had no idea what the character's name was.
- 24:22But I I will say that if if anybody out there has not seen
- 24:25the special, it's it's beautiful.
- 24:27You should check it out. I think it's it's usually on
- 24:29Amazon Prime. It looks dated, but it's
- 24:31beautiful. And we have all the the
- 24:35storyboards now on Muppet wiki thanks to thanks to our friend
- 24:39Grant. Yeah, Grant, Grant dug up a
- 24:41bunch of stuff on on those and they, they look terrific.
- 24:44Special about the Rainforest on Amazon.
- 24:47Go figure. Well, I'm going to move on to
- 24:50the next question here. Hello.
- 24:52Hello. What's your favorite Muppet Wiki
- 24:54admin speaking? Who am I?
- 24:56Nope, sorry, you got the question wrong.
- 24:58I am not Danny Horn. It's Gab.
- 25:00Hey guys, here is your question. In the Muppet movie, Gonzo
- 25:05crashes into Kermit and Fozzie Studebaker.
- 25:07We know this, but in a deleted scene that traces of can still
- 25:10be found in the final cut. What distracts Gonzo on the side
- 25:14of the road that makes him crash into Kermit and Fozzie?
- 25:18Bonus points if you could tell me which famous celebrity Frank
- 25:20Oz has a 30 year feud with Shane.
- 25:27You were the first to buzz in. What is it that distracts Gonzo
- 25:30and makes him crash the Studebaker?
- 25:33I mean crash the truck into the Studebaker.
- 25:37So if I recall correctly, there's a a deleted part where
- 25:42Doc Hopper is in the back seat of his car eating something
- 25:46involving syrup and then they crash or something and he gets
- 25:49covered in feathers because of the syrup.
- 25:52It feathers stick to him and I'm assuming Gonzo mistakes him for
- 25:56a giant chicken and that's what causes him to lose sight.
- 26:00Shane Oh, does anyone have an answer to the second part of
- 26:04Gav's question? I'll take a stab, Richard
- 26:08Dreyfuss. That's not what Gav is looking
- 26:11for. I don't understand the second
- 26:12part of Gav's question. I'm going to be real with you.
- 26:16A 30 year feud, I I don't know. I was going to say Marlon
- 26:19Brando, but that only goes back to when they worked together in
- 26:23the score and I don't think it's been 30 years since that.
- 26:26I don't know what Gav was looking for with that.
- 26:30All I know is that this is the clip Gav has provided for us.
- 26:33The answer is Doc Hopper covered in feathers.
- 26:37And if you got the answer to the bonus question, it's Cher.
- 26:40I don't know what Gav is talking about.
- 26:42This feels like an inside joke. OK.
- 26:46But I have no clue either. But Shane, you are right about
- 26:50the feathers. So I will give you 10 points for
- 26:53that. Woo.
- 26:55All right. Next question, are we doing OK
- 26:58by the way? I.
- 26:59Guess doing good. We're OK.
- 27:02We're OK with this departure from form.
- 27:04Oh, that's perfect. OK.
- 27:07Hello, Hubba Wah contestants, This is David Levy from
- 27:10Muppetergy Two Time Hubba Wah Champion. myself and I have a
- 27:14question for you today. And that question is, that's
- 27:22right. The question is going to be who,
- 27:23Specifically in this classic song from the 1925 musical Sunny
- 27:29Music by Jerome Kern, lyrics by Otto Harbach and Oscar
- 27:33Hammerstein, the second Zelda Rose and her singing owl.
- 27:36Asked the question who but? What I ask of you is who is
- 27:41performing Zelda Rose? Now you may know this version of
- 27:44the song better. That's from The Muppet Show
- 27:58album too, where Louise Gold re recorded the song, but she did
- 28:01not perform the song on The Muppet Show itself.
- 28:04Performs Zelda Rose when she sang the song on The Muppet
- 28:07Show. Cody.
- 28:17I'm going to guess I think her name is The Muppet Show is.
- 28:23I'm not as good at identifying identifying some performers on
- 28:29there, but one of the names I think it's Rachenda Carey or
- 28:36something like that. Hey, Rachenda Carey is not
- 28:40correct. Anyone able to steal Shane?
- 28:46I think first let me say this is the most muppet turgy question.
- 28:50Ever I was, I was so happy. It's it's really great because I
- 28:56feel like everybody submitted a very them question.
- 29:01When it started, I was very concerned he was going to ask
- 29:03who wrote it or something about the song's original context,
- 29:06because that would be so on brand for them.
- 29:09It is actually a muppet question.
- 29:12David did not break my rules. I I think that singer.
- 29:17Her name is Abby Hayfield. Shane, you are so close.
- 29:24Is it Abby Hayward? No.
- 29:28Darn. I'm sorry, the correct answer is
- 29:30Abby Hadfield. You may remember that in season
- 29:32two of The Muppet Show, they brought in three different
- 29:35female performers to audition for.
- 29:36The spot left bacon when Aaron Oscar left the show.
- 29:38This was Abby Hadfield's audition and unfortunately this
- 29:42was her only performance because she did not get the spot.
- 29:45Off by 1 syllable. I'm, I'm, I'm being that much of
- 29:48A stickler because this is the finale.
- 29:50I don't. I don't have, I don't have to be
- 29:52nice. I I like that his pre recorded
- 29:55response started with I'm sorry, assuming that we were going to
- 29:57get it wrong. Here's the here's the thing
- 29:59about here's the thing about David.
- 30:02David is a consummate theatre professional.
- 30:04Because David also provided me with this.
- 30:06That's right. The answer is Abby Hatfield.
- 30:09You may remember that in season two of The Muppet Show, after
- 30:11Aaron. So it's the same thing, but he
- 30:13he recorded it twice but in a different tone.
- 30:17Well done all. Right, moving on to the 4th
- 30:23question here. Hi, this is Fergie.
- 30:25Philippe, as we all know, the stars of Star Wars once famously
- 30:29appeared on The Muppet Show. Part of the reason of this
- 30:32happening was due to the convenience of Star Wars filming
- 30:35at this famous film studio across the street from ATV.
- 30:39What was the name of the film studio, Scott?
- 30:47I believe that was Elstree Studio.
- 30:49The answer is Elstree Studios correct.
- 30:53Yay. It's also where Superman was
- 30:56filming and Jim Henson and Frank Oz became friends with
- 30:59Christopher Reeve and invited him to puppeteer in his extra
- 31:03trivia. Question.
- 31:03Which episode? The Bob Hope episode.
- 31:07Oh, the Bob Hope episode. That's right.
- 31:09Who does he play and who does he play?
- 31:11But no, he was just he was around and was messing around
- 31:15one day and he performed one of the Japanese pulp vaulters in
- 31:18the Bob Hope episode. I just grabbed a stick and waved
- 31:22it across the screen. Yeah, right.
- 31:25It's a pole, not a stick. It's very important terminology.
- 31:30Tony, have you heard of the telephone pole?
- 31:32It's. Just going to go there.
- 31:35See, this is the problem is we all we all have too many of the
- 31:38same cultural touchstones. Mike Osnowitzky.
- 31:44All right, here we go with the next one.
- 31:46Hi, this is Joe Hennis, co-owner and editor in chief of
- 31:49toughpigs.com, but also the executive producer of this
- 31:52podcast. I sure do have a lot of titles,
- 31:55which must mean I'm pretty important.
- 31:56So this question is going to be all about me.
- 32:00In 2014, I appeared as an extra on Sesame Street Episode #45 O
- 32:044IN which I play a character cosplaying as a superhero at
- 32:07Numericom. Unlike most of the other
- 32:10costumed extras in that episode, I actually provided my own
- 32:12costume based on an existing superhero.
- 32:15Can you name the superhero I was originally dressed as, as well
- 32:20as the number I wore on my chest to help change it?
- 32:22Just enough so Sesame Workshop wouldn't get sued?
- 32:29Shane. He's invincible.
- 32:35Is that his name? He's the guy from Invincible.
- 32:38Yes, yes. I will say yes.
- 32:41I know I want to play the audio clip, but it's tough when they
- 32:43give me these two-part questions.
- 32:46So Shane, I will give you a point for that.
- 32:48Do you have a guess as to what number is on Joe's chest?
- 32:52I think is it 5. My costume was originally a
- 32:56cosplay of the character Invincible, who was obscure in
- 33:002014, but now he's the star of his own animated series on
- 33:03Amazon Prime. The number I wore on my chest
- 33:06was the number six. I hope this game ends in a tie.
- 33:10Goodbye. I'm sorry.
- 33:12I should. I should have let other people
- 33:14guess, but you guys just would have been guessing.
- 33:16I I remember that. And the reason I remember that
- 33:19is I remember Joe cosplaying as Invincible at cons.
- 33:24I've I've known Joe for long enough that I I knew Joe before.
- 33:28Sesame Street Episode 4505. I only remember it because he
- 33:34brought it up this year at Comic Con.
- 33:36No, I wasn't at Comic Con this year.
- 33:38I was at Comic Con the year he dressed as Invincible.
- 33:42I I don't think I realized that that's what he was dressed as in
- 33:45that episode. If I had, I probably would have
- 33:48started an invincible article on the wiki, which I don't think we
- 33:52have yet. Well.
- 33:54Because that that that counts as Sesame Street referencing
- 33:57Invincible. True and Invincible is a popular
- 34:00series now, which it was not when Sesame Street episode 4505
- 34:04aired. Yeah, we can tap into all those
- 34:07memes, yeah. Worst hubba wah question ever.
- 34:13Thank you, Tony. All right, here's another one.
- 34:17Greetings and salutations, Hubblewa listeners.
- 34:20Hello, Becca. Hello, Muppet Wiki, this is JD
- 34:22Hansel from toughpigs.com. And I've got a question about
- 34:26something that all of us think about all the time.
- 34:28My Muppets show that 2013 mobile game at Tough Pigs.
- 34:32We really do think about it surprisingly often.
- 34:35Of course, we think about all of its original characters.
- 34:38Cody Harvey, Big MO, The Devets, Durwood Clapper.
- 34:43Obviously. Jack Strumley, Kizzy Blues Man
- 34:46but spelled BLOOSMAN. Myron Bellows Hera Thump boomer.
- 34:54There's there's one character who I've left out here, and
- 34:57that's actually your question. Who's the character who I
- 35:00haven't mentioned? And as your hint, it's the
- 35:02character who is named after a Muppet who was introduced.
- 35:06Just a few years earlier. Scott.
- 35:10That would be the steampunk inspired 1880s robot.
- 35:15The correct answer is 1880s robot, of course, named after
- 35:2180s robot from the 2011 film The Muppets.
- 35:25You've seen it. You should have known this.
- 35:27You all should have known all of these answers, Scott.
- 35:31I don't know. I had a feeling that you knew
- 35:33this. 1880s robot is unironically the character I
- 35:38absolutely would die to have apvc figure of.
- 35:44I want to be clear for those folks at home, so I'm not really
- 35:47being as much of A stickler for the like wait until the question
- 35:49is over to buzz in especially cause a lot of these people are
- 35:52not like giving signals when their questions are over because
- 35:55they are not, you know, trained professional game show hosts
- 35:59like myself. Scott buzzed in well before J DS
- 36:06Clue about it being based on another character.
- 36:09Scott knew that this character was 1880s robot before JD even
- 36:16started to say that he was based on another character.
- 36:21Hey, 1880s robot for Life, OK? Great.
- 36:27I'm very surprised JD did not ask a question about the cube.
- 36:31I am too, to be honest. Again, most people asked about
- 36:34his. Personal brand.
- 36:35Most people asked about like, their thing, but not JD Hello
- 36:40Hupawa, contestants and listeners, this is Ren, noted
- 36:45Henson Company Stan of the Tough Pigs Extended Universe.
- 36:49And here is my trivia question for you all in the Farscape
- 36:54episode A Constellation of Doubt.
- 36:56And I will pause for groans at the mention of Farscape Ryan
- 37:00Henson cameos as a Stanford University professor.
- 37:04What was the name of that Stanford University professor
- 37:12Shane? His professor's name was Matt
- 37:17Foley, motivational speaker. No.
- 37:24Anyone else have a guess? Of course, we don't have a
- 37:28guess. Listen, you don't.
- 37:31You don't. You don't.
- 37:32Look at the Muppeteer Cameos slash performer references.
- 37:38Muppeteer. Oh Lord, I just, said.
- 37:41Muppeteer You're. Disqualified Becca.
- 37:46And you said you were a professional.
- 37:48I Brian, I'm sorry, I could edit this out, but I won't.
- 37:53I won't. We won't let you edit it out.
- 37:55It's fine. There are plenty of documents
- 37:57that have the word Muppeteer in them.
- 37:58It's it's OK to use. Yeah, I was reading the Salmon
- 38:02Friends book, and there's definitely some.
- 38:06Not that. Not that, not that that Craig
- 38:10Shaman would ever use the word muppeteer, but there's like some
- 38:12primary sources in here that that do, definitely.
- 38:16Can I guess again? No.
- 38:18Anyone else want to guess for this one?
- 38:20Professor Hastings. No, unfortunately I.
- 38:22Wish should be. Professor Farscape.
- 38:29The answer I'm looking for is Edmund Johnston.
- 38:34OK, of course. I thought if you guys knew
- 38:37anything about Farscape, it would be the Brian Henson cameo.
- 38:40I know the Kermit the Frog cameo.
- 38:42That's it. That's, yeah, I was going to say
- 38:44the same. Moving on to a question about
- 38:46something you have seen the review of Elmo Palooza.
- 38:51Who is Bert's hero? What film did he direct?
- 38:54That is of course from our good friend Iffy.
- 38:57I don't know why, if he didn't introduce himself there.
- 39:00So just to repeat, the question was in Elmo Palooza, who is
- 39:04Bert's hero and what film did he direct?
- 39:12Shane. Bert's in the special.
- 39:16Ernie and Bert are in the director's booth at Radio City
- 39:19Music Hall, and Bert is the role as the director.
- 39:22And he says his directorial hero is Alfred Sweetsock, the
- 39:27director of that timeless classic The Pigeons.
- 39:31Bert's hero is Alfred Sweetsock, director of the timeless classic
- 39:36The Pigeons. I like how you all you both know
- 39:39the words. Exactly so.
- 39:42Oh, I had that tape. So, you know, that dialogue is
- 39:45burned into my brain. And obviously, for those people
- 39:50at home, The Pigeons is a spin on the Alfred Hitchcock movie
- 39:54North by Northwest. No, follow that Bird is a is a
- 40:00spin on North by Northwest, of course.
- 40:07All right. Next question is about Muppet
- 40:09Wiki. Hello, this is Mike Westfall,
- 40:12host of the Advent Calendar House and Funny Scary Joe
- 40:15Connoisseur. And my question is about Emmett
- 40:18Otter's jug band Christmas we all love.
- 40:20Watching it every year, but for some of us present company very
- 40:24included. It's important to make sure
- 40:27you're watching a copy that has little content cut as possible.
- 40:31Finding the right version for you can be tricky because there
- 40:34have been quite a few different edits over the years, including
- 40:38the original airing. How many different edits of
- 40:41Emmett Otter's jug Band Christmas are out there?
- 40:45I mean as recognized by Muppet Wiki.
- 40:47Sorry, the copy where your mom tried to skip recording the
- 40:50commercials when it aired on Nickelodeon doesn't count.
- 40:57Tony. I'm going to have to talk my way
- 41:00through this. OK.
- 41:03First of the 1977 version, then the 80 version with Kermit's
- 41:10dialogue added, and I think the third version would be the home
- 41:15video releases and the 4th the DVD release that cuts Kermit and
- 41:245th would be the current one. So 5.
- 41:30Yes, I think it's 5. I'm sorry, that is not the
- 41:34correct answer, Scott, you buzzed in, so you can steal.
- 41:39I was going to do exactly what Tony just did and walk my way
- 41:42through it because I didn't know definitively.
- 41:46I would say that there's, well, there's at least one more, but
- 41:50maybe it's more than one more. This is according to you guys.
- 41:55MM says that these are the ones that you recognize.
- 41:59Yeah, if only I had that table memorized.
- 42:04You don't have every every article on your your website
- 42:08memorized. All 44,000 or however many we've
- 42:11got now I'm going to, I'm going to say, I'm going to say 7.
- 42:17Well, let's see. We have the original edit from
- 42:191977 and edit from 1981 In 1996, the completely Kermit list edit
- 42:26from 2005, a remastered edit in 2015 for ABC Family.
- 42:31A different variation of that remaster used for home video and
- 42:35streaming. And apparently Craig Shemin
- 42:38pieced together an edit with every available scene for
- 42:41screenings by the Jim Henson legacy.
- 42:44So counting that one, that makes 7 different cuts mentioned on
- 42:49the Muppet Wiki entry for Emmett Otter's Jug Band Christmas.
- 42:52Edits. Bravo.
- 42:55Lucky guess Tony, you you did most of the light work on on
- 43:00that for me, so I'm going to have to defer some of my points
- 43:02to. Unfortunately, unfortunately
- 43:05that's sometimes the way that it goes when we allow for steals.
- 43:09But yeah, 7 versions and I will say other than Craig's version,
- 43:14which is obviously the superior one and I've had the fortune of
- 43:17seeing once I'm partial to the new version that's on streaming
- 43:22on Amazon and on Blu-ray right now.
- 43:24That's the one that that that I swear by.
- 43:27As as far as as far as I know, I think the Blu-ray version is
- 43:30complete with the exception of the.
- 43:33I think it's three Kermit voice over lines, not not Kermit on
- 43:39screen. And the reason was because they
- 43:40were trying to be true to the original original version, which
- 43:44it kind of. It's kind of a bummer that they
- 43:46don't include the the lines, but I I get why that was done.
- 43:49I prefer it without having seen it, both with and without the
- 43:52Kermit lines. I think they're superfluous.
- 43:54I like him at the beginning and the end, but I don't think you
- 43:57need him saying what's going on. I think the The Movie shows you
- 44:01what's going on through the actions of the characters.
- 44:04That that's very right. I think I'd I'd probably have a
- 44:07tape from TV version that had the Kermit voice over.
- 44:10So that's I get it. It all depends on what you grew
- 44:12up with and. Those were those were really
- 44:14there, I think because they had commercial breaks.
- 44:18So you need a little something to remind people of where you
- 44:22are in the story. For example, you might need a
- 44:25little Christmas right this very minute, and it helps to be
- 44:29reminded of that. Well, don't remind us that that
- 44:32special isn't uncut anywhere. I.
- 44:35Don't. Know what you're talking about,
- 44:37Shane? Shane, you were you were you?
- 44:41Was it you or Tony? I'm actually, I know we're
- 44:43getting off topic, but this is the kind of off topic that I
- 44:45love and our audience at home loves, too.
- 44:47One of you two, Shane or Tony, mentioned that there's an
- 44:49additional scene that only aired once with Fozzie and Elmo.
- 44:54Is this a real thing that happened?
- 44:56It's. Just like a really quick thing.
- 45:00So just like before the Carol medley, there's just a really
- 45:05short thing of Elmo and Fozzie turning on the lights of the
- 45:08Christmas tree. It's like 5 seconds.
- 45:11Why was it cut? I think.
- 45:15Time. It might have been because I
- 45:18think. It's after its first position I
- 45:20think. Yeah, after the first broadcast,
- 45:22they like readjusted where the commercial breaks might have
- 45:25been and that just got cut out because it was coming in from a
- 45:30commercial. It was a YouTube copy and Shane
- 45:33noticed that a couple of scenes were cut.
- 45:36It it was a it was a YouTube copy that was like branding
- 45:40itself as uncut. And I tried to be Mr. Pedantic
- 45:44and say that it isn't. Speaking of of commercials,
- 45:48personally I can't. Well, I I prefer watching the
- 45:52special with the original commercials because I watched it
- 45:55when it original aired. But the best one is a bumper
- 45:58that they did with Kermit and Fozzie.
- 46:00Where Kermit, you know, it's like 10 seconds or whatever and
- 46:02Kermit does. You can see this on YouTube.
- 46:05Kermit says that the audience, you know, Muppet Family
- 46:07Christmas, we'll be right back or whatever.
- 46:08But behind Kermit you can see Fozzie puppeteering 2 Little
- 46:15they. I think they might be like
- 46:16little plush Christmas ornaments or something like that.
- 46:19It's just it's just a delightful moment.
- 46:21It reminds me of a lot of the The Muppet Show promos where
- 46:24they would just mess around and do stuff like that.
- 46:28You just wave him around and he was gone.
- 46:29Mirka. It was Merka.
- 46:30Just Merka. That's right.
- 46:32This is this is always a conversation on Speaking of Mike
- 46:35Westfall but on Advent Calendar House the watching it with the
- 46:39commercials in is a big theme on on that show.
- 46:45Oshkosh Begash. All right.
- 46:49Next question. Hey, it's me call from Muppet
- 46:52Urgy. And I want to know which Muppet
- 46:54performer lent their voice to the 1975 radio series Fantastic
- 46:58Four Shane. I'm going to take a guess and
- 47:08say Jerry Nelson. It's not Jerry Nelson.
- 47:13Does anybody else want to try to steal?
- 47:15Ouch. Scott.
- 47:17I I was going to guess Jerry Nelson as well but I would I'll,
- 47:21I'll say there's there's no way this is this is it But Louise
- 47:24Gold would be my guess. It's also not Louise Gold, Tony.
- 47:33Katherine Mullen. It's not Kathy Mullen either.
- 47:36Who is it? Fantastic Four was a 13 episode
- 47:39radio drama based on the Marvel comic series.
- 47:42The cast included Stan Lee as the narrator, Bill Murray as the
- 47:46Human Torch, and Muppet performer Cynthia Adler, known
- 47:50to Muppet fans for her unforgettable performance as The
- 47:53Duck in the Bruce Forsyth episode as The Invisible Girl.
- 47:58Cute, cute reference. Well, that, that's trivia.
- 48:04Arguably trivia. She was a performer.
- 48:07She performed A Muppet. And that Muppet.
- 48:10That Muppet was a duck on one episode of The Muppet Show.
- 48:16And you know what? It's on Muppet Wiki.
- 48:19I checked. You have a page about this this
- 48:23Fantastic Four radio show with links to both Bill Murray and
- 48:26Cynthia Adler. Well, radio.
- 48:29Radio is really Andrew's specialty.
- 48:32I couldn't have every every Muppet wiki person on.
- 48:37Well, on the on the topic of Stan Lee for an extra bit of
- 48:40trivia, I it's possible that Stan Lee's Stan Lee became well,
- 48:47he was famous for being Stan Lee, but he became more famous
- 48:51to a wider audience for making his on screen cameos.
- 48:54One of his first ones that he ever did was in an episode of
- 48:56Muppet Babies, and I've looked into this.
- 49:00It's very close to when his first credited on screen cameo
- 49:06is in the trial of the Incredible Hulk ATV movie that
- 49:11aired in the same year and I I'm trying to pin down the filming
- 49:15dates. I need to find out when he
- 49:16actually recorded his Muppet Babies bit, but it's quite
- 49:20possible that it predates that, meaning that Muppet Babies could
- 49:23possibly be his very first on screen cameo that he did in
- 49:26something. Whoa.
- 49:28Not not confirmed yet, but it's it's very close.
- 49:31It certainly is on screen cameo first.
- 49:34On screen cameo, I wonder, I guess there weren't like was
- 49:38there like a Marvel VHS, you know, that was like Stan Lee,
- 49:41explains the Marvel Universe. How to draw Spider Man?
- 49:45Yeah, like, but certainly his first cameo.
- 49:47I mean, or that. Or the Incredible Hulk.
- 49:49Absolutely. Real cool.
- 49:52Hello. It's Beth from Tough Pigs here
- 49:55with a trivia question about my favorite obscure Henson
- 49:57production, The Tale of the Bunny Picnic.
- 50:01What is the name that the dog eventually adopts for himself?
- 50:08Tony. It was me.
- 50:14The name that the dog gets is B Dock, the diddly Dog Pop.
- 50:20The answer, of course, is Mr. Dee Dopp Dee Diddly, Dog Bop.
- 50:24Oh Mr. Dee Dopp diddly dog bop to you.
- 50:27Tony, I'll give it to you without the Mr. I think that's
- 50:30fine. Mr. is his father.
- 50:34Nice work. I have actually never seen
- 50:36tales. Tales from the Bunny pic tale.
- 50:38Oh, it's delightful. Tale of the Bunny Picnic.
- 50:41And I want to change that, especially because I know Beth
- 50:44has talked about it repeatedly. How much?
- 50:48How much she loves it. But I have not seen it yet and
- 50:51that's something that I hope to change.
- 50:53It's. Almost like a mix of The Muppet
- 50:55Show and Fraggle Rock because it's taped in England, but the
- 50:59music comes from Phil Balsam and Dennis Lee.
- 51:02The music sounds exactly like any freckle song you could think
- 51:05of. Hi.
- 51:07My name is Cypress, but you might also know me as Newman,
- 51:11and my pronouns are he, him. Here's a question.
- 51:16What does Disney's 2002 movie The Country Bears, the hit song
- 51:20We Are the World, and beloved children's educational program
- 51:23Sesame Street all have in common other than Henson involvement.
- 51:29So I'll give you a clue. Moomin is looking for a specific
- 51:34person who appeared in all three of those things other than
- 51:40Henson involve the general Henson involvement.
- 51:44Scott. I'm going to say Lionel Richie.
- 51:47It is not Lionel Richie, but you're thinking in the right
- 51:49direction, Shane. I'm going to say Queen Latifah.
- 51:53It's not Queen Latifah. She's in the country bears
- 51:57though, right? She is, but I don't think she's
- 51:59in the We or the World video. Tony, do you have a guess?
- 52:10Paul Simon I don't know. The answer is Robert, a
- 52:16musician. Wyclef Jean.
- 52:18It's Wyclef Jean, obviously. Oh, you probably sang with
- 52:22Cookie Monster. Yeah, it.
- 52:24Sure is the guy who sang with Cookie Monster.
- 52:26Is so he's not in the original We are the world, right?
- 52:30Or is he in like a re recording? You know, I didn't think to
- 52:33check this. 'Cause that's what I my brain
- 52:36was stuck on that and I should know better because I think just
- 52:39within this past year, I think we just got a We Are the World
- 52:43article on Muppet Wiki. So I I should know the answer to
- 52:47this? Where's Where's Wyclef Jean in
- 52:53the Country Bears again? I think at the very end there's
- 52:57a montage of it's either the end or the beginning.
- 53:00There's two montages of celebrities saying that they
- 53:03learned everything they know from from the country bears.
- 53:12Yeah, so, so Wyclef Jean, I don't know how you say his name,
- 53:17he he is in the the 2010 version.
- 53:20OK, but not the original, all right?
- 53:22Yeah, he's. I think he's too young to have
- 53:24been in the original. Yeah.
- 53:27Is Elton John in We Are the World?
- 53:29No, apparently not. I'm looking right now because
- 53:33that would be actually Elton John was never on Sesame Street.
- 53:37Well, I was gonna say if he was in We Are the World, he Needs to
- 53:40be on Sesame Street to complete the hat trick.
- 53:44Willie Nelson also was not on Sesame Street, correct?
- 53:47Because Willie Nelson is in both We Are the World and Country
- 53:50Bears. Was Willie Nelson?
- 53:53Was he on that that in Harmony Record?
- 53:57He wasn't on that. Was he I?
- 53:59Don't think so. Yeah, yeah, he definitely wasn't
- 54:04on Sesame Street. But I I I thought maybe he would
- 54:07was. I don't know.
- 54:07Probably not. Was Zeb Zuber on Sesame Street?
- 54:12No. Was he?
- 54:13And we are the world. Yes.
- 54:15Wow, I can't believe it. Zeb.
- 54:17He's only in it for the honey and like I do in every episode
- 54:21and like no one at home ever can see.
- 54:24But here's my Zeb Zuber right here.
- 54:28Horrifying. I've got Zeb next to my desk,
- 54:31and also Big Al and Henry and one of the better head brothers.
- 54:39I always forget their first names.
- 54:41It's Fred and Ted, but I always forget which is which.
- 54:45I guess I'm not a true Country Bears 2002 fan.
- 54:48Next question. Hey, it's Adam from Muppet Urgy.
- 54:53Jillian Lynn was the choreographer for about half of
- 54:56the episodes of The Muppet Show. Miss Lynn is most famous for
- 54:59choreographing the original West End and Broadway productions of
- 55:02Cats and The Phantom of the Opera.
- 55:04What was her first Broadway show as a choreographer?
- 55:09Yeah, here's a Muppet Turkey question.
- 55:10That is a that. That's a Muppet Turkey question
- 55:12for sure. I can give a hint for this one
- 55:16if nobody knows. A hint would be good.
- 55:21Tony, did you go? Back to Hart, could we go back
- 55:23to Muppet Wiki questions? We'll get back.
- 55:27The next couple have Muppet Wiki answers, not this one.
- 55:30I'll give a hint because Adam has provided 1.
- 55:33Thank you. And I don't know if we're doing
- 55:36hints, but in case we're doing hints, the show ran on Broadway
- 55:40from May 16th, 1965 to December 4th, 1965.
- 55:47That's not a hint, that's just more information.
- 55:52Scott. Was it?
- 55:57What's it called? It's probably not, but I'm
- 55:58making a good guess just based on the era and how short it ran.
- 56:02The It's a bird. It's a plane in Superman.
- 56:07It is not, but that's a great guess, Shane.
- 56:12Is it follies? It is not follies good guess or
- 56:19OK guess I. Don't.
- 56:21Know. All right, here's the answer.
- 56:23Well, wait, wait, does Tony want to take a guess?
- 56:26I'm sorry, Tony. Oh sure, I'm I'm I'll go with
- 56:34something like I don't know, jabor Jabor, I don't know.
- 56:43Jabor. The roar of the grease paint,
- 56:45the smell of the crowd. That's right.
- 56:47It was the roar of the grease paint, the smell of the crowd.
- 56:52Of course, stupid me. Wait a minute, wasn't there a
- 56:58song on The Muppet Show from that?
- 57:01I don't know. Or have some muppet turgy would
- 57:04well have the answer. You'll just have to listen to
- 57:06all the episodes. Yeah, you have to check the
- 57:09Muppet Turgy wiki for that one. I remember seeing in the Muppet
- 57:13Show book the That Roar of the Grease Paint title.
- 57:18That might be a lyric. You are right, Tony, Tony, Tony,
- 57:24Tony, Tony specifically. Guy named Tony got the musical
- 57:30question. Go figure.
- 57:32A song. I mean, you you you didn't get
- 57:35the question. But I mean, listen, I'll, I'll
- 57:38give you. I'll give you half a point for
- 57:40that because that's just a cool thing.
- 57:41Cool thing to remember. It was of course, a song that
- 57:46was also in the special Sesame Street Christmas in addition to
- 57:50being in the Muppet Show book. Can anyone think of a song
- 57:53that's both in the Muppet Show book and a special Sesame Street
- 57:57Christmas? Shane.
- 57:58Wait, yeah, that was Shane by a split second.
- 58:02Look at that face. It is.
- 58:03Look at that face is from the musical the roar of the grease
- 58:06paint, the smell of the crowd. And it goes on for 10 minutes in
- 58:11the special Sesame Street Christmas.
- 58:14And I bet it goes on even longer in the musical.
- 58:19All right. Next.
- 58:20Question. That's probably why I closed.
- 58:22Yeah, exactly. It only lasted like 3 months.
- 58:25The whole show is just the one song.
- 58:27Yeah, that's it. There's somebody out of window
- 58:29singing and. Looking at a face.
- 58:32To be clear, a special Sesame Street Christmas.
- 58:35That's the one where Ethel Merman calls Leslie Uggams an
- 58:38idiot, right? Yes.
- 58:39So that's the one, what you call Emmy Gene Coco?
- 58:41OK. All right.
- 58:42Sorry. It is not the one that you're
- 58:45thinking of folks at home and if you listen to tough pigs Worst
- 58:49of The Muppets podcast, Joe and Fergie did a great play by Play
- 58:53of It. It's a bad special.
- 58:56It is not the one you're thinking of.
- 58:58We're Bert and Ernie Do Gift of the Magi.
- 59:01Or the one where Elmo goes back in time.
- 59:04Or the one where Elmo's father tells him about a different back
- 59:08in time. Here's your next question.
- 59:15Hi, I'm Richard Michael Gomez, and no one really knows what I
- 59:19do. Everyone's favorite puppet band
- 59:23that backs up Coldplay. The Weirdos would be nothing
- 59:26without the keyboardist The Wizard, but that hasn't always
- 59:29been his identity. What was the keyboardist the
- 59:32wizard's identity before he joined that Coldplay backing
- 59:37band? And what show did he originally
- 59:40did? Cody.
- 59:46I believe that's libido from city kids.
- 59:52The keyboardist. The wizard's alternate identity
- 59:54before Coldplay was libido. And he came from City Kids,
- 1:00:00everyone's favorite Jim Henson show.
- 1:00:05Go city kids, go city kids just go.
- 1:00:08Just go. All right.
- 1:00:11Next. Puppets, but the show it's.
- 1:00:15The wizard is an incredible puppet.
- 1:00:17I love him. Great.
- 1:00:18Puppets but. Or I guess Libido is an
- 1:00:21incredible puppet. I love him, but the the weirdos
- 1:00:25are weird. City Kid, City Kids was.
- 1:00:31I remember sort of seeing it as a kid, but seeing it now, I'm
- 1:00:38only interested in pretty much the Muppet parts.
- 1:00:41And that's like what, 5% of the show?
- 1:00:45Yeah, but why was there a character named libido?
- 1:00:48Because it takes place in the mind.
- 1:00:51I'm going to the next question. Hey gang, it's Anthony.
- 1:00:55My question is about everyone's favorite Muppet project.
- 1:00:57That's right, Mother Goose stories.
- 1:00:59In episode 17, we meet Mother Hubbard, played by Karen Prell.
- 1:01:03We also meet Mother Hubbard's entire family, including her
- 1:01:06daughter Heather, played by a human, and her husband, who
- 1:01:10performed Old Mother Hubbard's husband.
- 1:01:13And what was the character's first name?
- 1:01:19Tony. I don't remember the first name,
- 1:01:24but I think it's Mac Wilson who performed them.
- 1:01:28OK, it is Mack Wilson, so I will give you one point.
- 1:01:32Does anybody know first name Shane?
- 1:01:38Is it old, father? Hubbard it is not.
- 1:01:42Scott, were you going to guess the same?
- 1:01:43That's. What I was going to say.
- 1:01:48I thought they were going to ask about what the dog's name was.
- 1:01:50Nope. And here is the answer.
- 1:01:54As you probably all knew, Old mother Hubbard's husband was
- 1:01:58named Sherlock Hubbard. He wore a deerstalker hat
- 1:02:03because of course he did, and he was performed by Moppetop
- 1:02:05himself, Mack Wilson. I want to be clear that Anthony
- 1:02:09sent that to me with the file name Hubbard Wah.
- 1:02:15Oh, that's good. I've, I've, I've seen the
- 1:02:17picture of that character on the wiki.
- 1:02:20I remember there being a Sherlock character, but I would
- 1:02:23absolutely never have put those two together because that would
- 1:02:27require Mother Goose stories to take up any space in my brain.
- 1:02:30I watched a bunch of them as a kid and I did not like it.
- 1:02:34Next question. I liked what they were trying to
- 1:02:37do. Yeah, but they didn't succeed.
- 1:02:41Oh no. By the way, the dog's name was
- 1:02:43Barkley. Oh, good to know.
- 1:02:45That's how. I know another dog named
- 1:02:48Barkley. I know a goldfish.
- 1:02:50Oh, that's true. I know that too.
- 1:02:52Anyway, next question. Oh, hello, I didn't see you
- 1:02:56there. We all know that the best Muppet
- 1:02:58in the world is Mr. Curly Twirly.
- 1:03:00He's made many appearances in things like The Muppet Christmas
- 1:03:03Carol, a Muppet Treasure Island, even in the audience of Muppets
- 1:03:06Tonight. But the puppet made an
- 1:03:08appearance in an episode of the wobulous world of Doctor Zeus.
- 1:03:12What was that character's name? Shane.
- 1:03:21I'm gonna say a oh boy a wubba toes something like that.
- 1:03:34Shane's pretty close, but certainly not close enough.
- 1:03:37Anybody else want to guess, or should I just play Jared's
- 1:03:39answer? I mean, if it's Suzie, you could
- 1:03:42just spit out some nonsense like, oh it's it's woozy woos
- 1:03:46and that would that could be a potential guess.
- 1:03:49Well, it's not the woozy woos either.
- 1:03:51It was 5th of my toes. 5th of my toes.
- 1:03:56I don't know what the hell 1/5 of my toes is.
- 1:04:00I'm not starting the 5th of my toes.
- 1:04:01Appreciation Society. Curly.
- 1:04:03Twirly all the way. Of course, how could we not know
- 1:04:07that? I knew that it rhymed with nose
- 1:04:09because his nose comes off. See, that's why I was saying you
- 1:04:13were close. You had that right.
- 1:04:15Next one, I will say there's no introduction in this one, but
- 1:04:19this one is from Patrick Cotnor. OK, now this one is my favorite
- 1:04:25one. It's from Muppets from Space,
- 1:04:26Jeffrey Tambor's character singer.
- 1:04:28He says he was made fun of a lot when he was growing up and he
- 1:04:31says that people called him three things.
- 1:04:33What were those three things, Tony?
- 1:04:42Remember Freak Boy being one of them.
- 1:04:45Freak boy is one of them. Tony, I will give you a point.
- 1:04:49A delusional psychopath? Something like that.
- 1:04:54I will give you a point. Anyone remember the the third
- 1:05:01which is actually the first Shane?
- 1:05:05Big idiot guy. Not big idiot guy Scott, do you
- 1:05:09have any guesses? Weirdo.
- 1:05:15Close, but no cigar. Here's the answer.
- 1:05:18It's wacko freak boy and paranoid delusional psychopath.
- 1:05:24Great. All right, next one.
- 1:05:31Hi, this is Tori Schmidt. Which specific Pigs in Space
- 1:05:36episode was up for a Fred Award? And follow up question Which
- 1:05:41Pigs in Space episode did Strange Pork want to be
- 1:05:44nominated? So, Shane.
- 1:05:52So the one that they're nominated for is Pig Alien.
- 1:05:57That is true. And the one that Strange Pork
- 1:06:00wishes they were up for is Strange Pork Takes up Disco or
- 1:06:07learns Disco. One of those.
- 1:06:08The answer is the sketch that was nominated was Pig, Alien and
- 1:06:13Strange Pork Wanted. Strange Pork takes Up Disco to
- 1:06:16be nominated. There you go.
- 1:06:19Nicely done. Shane deserves a Fred Award for
- 1:06:23this. That was that was indefatigable.
- 1:06:28That was sesquipedalian. Inexplicable.
- 1:06:32That's a great article that you guys have now.
- 1:06:35The pigs in space Opening adjectives.
- 1:06:38That was. That's a Shane special.
- 1:06:40Well, I appreciate it, Shane. I I like that Rodger language.
- 1:06:44Took it up and kept it going. Yeah, it's kind of.
- 1:06:47I always forget that they didn't continue with it on the show
- 1:06:51like it's only in certain Is it only in Season 3?
- 1:06:54Season 2, I guess by season three they were like, oh,
- 1:06:57everyone knows who these guys are now.
- 1:06:58We don't have to introduce them every time.
- 1:07:01Yeah, but it was funny. OK, next question.
- 1:07:07Hello everyone. This is Eli Lee and I am Becca
- 1:07:11Petunia's spouse and I don't know what you people do on this
- 1:07:14podcast, but she has asked me to contribute a question.
- 1:07:19My question for you is what popular breakfast pastry does
- 1:07:24Elaine open a store to sell only the tops of in season eight
- 1:07:29episode 21 of Seinfeld Lee. Yeah, Lee, I asked you to say a
- 1:07:38Muppet trivia question, not a muffin trivia question.
- 1:07:44Wait, I thought you people were doing a Seinfeld trivia podcast.
- 1:07:50Can you just, can you just ask that bear question like I told
- 1:07:53you to? OK, in the Bear in the Big Blue
- 1:07:59House episode? We did it our way.
- 1:08:02What kind of pie does Bear make for his friend Doc Hogg?
- 1:08:09See, Was that that hard? What else have you been keeping
- 1:08:14from me? Scott, do you know the answer to
- 1:08:16this question? I I don't know the answer, even
- 1:08:19though I watched almost every episode with my daughter.
- 1:08:22But I'm going to. I'm going to guess blueberry pie
- 1:08:24it. Is not blueberry pie.
- 1:08:26Good guess, Tony. Wild Berry.
- 1:08:33So there is a triple Berry pie in other episodes, but not this
- 1:08:38one. They make a big deal about this
- 1:08:41one in the We Did It Our Way episode.
- 1:08:44Shane, do you have a guess? You're saying it's it's 3A
- 1:08:47Triple Berry pie? No, this is not the triple Berry
- 1:08:50pie. I'm saying Tony Tony's right
- 1:08:54that they made effectively a wild Berry pie, but that's in a
- 1:08:56different episode. I'm going to say pecan a pecan
- 1:09:02pie. The answer is apple pie with
- 1:09:08nutty crumb topping served with a whole mess of whipped cream.
- 1:09:13And in my memory, they say that like four or five times in that
- 1:09:17episode. All right, That was close in the
- 1:09:22sense that you guys remembered it was a pie.
- 1:09:25I with the Seinfeld thing I I thought for sure this was going
- 1:09:28in the direction of Pete's Luncheonette.
- 1:09:31It should have, but it did. Seinfeld babies.
- 1:09:34I was going to guess muffin, even though I have not seen that
- 1:09:36episode. Muffin was the right answer.
- 1:09:38Yes to to to Lee's first question.
- 1:09:42Next question, Hi, I'm Danny Horn from Tough Pigs, Muppet
- 1:09:46Wiki, Muppet Pictures, and soon the fantastic Miss Piggy
- 1:09:49Podcast. My question is, in 2001 at the
- 1:09:53Muppet Fest convention, the event ended with a performance
- 1:09:55called The Muppet Show Live. During the intermission between
- 1:09:59acts, there was a charity auction where they sold Muppet
- 1:10:01props. Who was the celebrity who helped
- 1:10:03out during the charity auction, and what role did that person
- 1:10:06play in a handsome production? Scott.
- 1:10:16I can't remember if she did it for both, because I think she
- 1:10:18did it at at during the Muppet Fest panel, but it might have
- 1:10:24been Claudia Black, who played Aaron's son on Farscape.
- 1:10:28The answer is it was Claudia Black helping with the auction.
- 1:10:31She played Aaron's son on Farscape.
- 1:10:33Look, you got a Farscape question, correct?
- 1:10:36Hurray. As I recall she she was a
- 1:10:41surprise guest during the Muppet Fest panel and then showed up at
- 1:10:47AS as Danny said during the The Muppet Show Live intermission.
- 1:10:51Scott, were you there for Muppet for Muppet Fest?
- 1:10:54Yeah, yeah, yeah, they I'm still waiting for Muppet.
- 1:10:58They they actually, they closed out the Muppet Fest panels
- 1:11:01saying see you next year from Muppet Fest 2 and I'm still
- 1:11:05waiting. And correct me if I'm wrong, but
- 1:11:08didn't you make The Muppet Show live like you're kind of in The
- 1:11:12Muppet Show live recording? Embarrassingly so, yes.
- 1:11:17So if if that ever. I mean, I know it's it's out on
- 1:11:20YouTube now, but if that ever got like a proper release,
- 1:11:23they'd either have to cut that out because it's obnoxious or
- 1:11:26they'd have to leave it in. And that would be me in an in an
- 1:11:29official Muppet production because Beeker mentioned Bunsen,
- 1:11:34Bunsen mentioned something about DVD technology, and I was a big
- 1:11:39DVD nerd, so I just let out. AI just went and it was so loud
- 1:11:45and. It was you.
- 1:11:46Through it. That was me throughout the whole
- 1:11:48theater that Bunsen had to respond to it.
- 1:11:51So that was my little interaction with Bunsen in a in
- 1:11:55a Muppet production. You guys need to understand
- 1:11:58folks at home, and I know a lot of young people listen to this
- 1:12:00show. There was a time when DV DS were
- 1:12:03something that you might be excited about, and that time was
- 1:12:082001. It sure was.
- 1:12:15All right. Next question, the 21st question
- 1:12:18here. Hey all, this is Katie Lynn from
- 1:12:21toughpigs.com. And have I got a question for
- 1:12:23you. Meaning Master Gardeners who
- 1:12:27live in bulging plants, what is the word the Pottlings from The
- 1:12:32Dark Crystal used to refer to themselves, Shane?
- 1:12:41They call themselves Steve. They don't, Scott.
- 1:12:49Tony. I I know we can't ask Katie Lynn
- 1:12:56to specify, but is this I wonder if this is this something that
- 1:13:00is used in dialogue in the movie or is this something that's used
- 1:13:05in the script or the novelization that because I I
- 1:13:08can't. Recall, unfortunately, I don't
- 1:13:10know. It might be something that the
- 1:13:12podlings say in their little Podlig language, but it
- 1:13:16certainly is not said by Jen or Kira in the film.
- 1:13:21All right, the answer A Papiapoya PD, A PDD, A POB.
- 1:13:28Just that simple. It was right on the tip of my
- 1:13:32tongue. I want to be clear, that is not
- 1:13:35the hardest question that we have tonight.
- 1:13:39That was the 2nd hardest question that we have tonight.
- 1:13:43Is that wasn't that the dog's name in the tail of the Bunny
- 1:13:46picnic? It's.
- 1:13:46Kind of similar. I'm not going to lie.
- 1:13:50Here's the last question. Oh boy.
- 1:13:55Hiya, hiya hiya. This is Tough Pigs writer,
- 1:13:58Muppet quotes curator and two time Hubba Wah champion and
- 1:14:01Toughest Pig, Matthew Soberman. Here Now, my love of the Disney
- 1:14:06Parks has been pretty obvious over the years.
- 1:14:08I've written about why they shouldn't close Muppet Vision 3,
- 1:14:12DI've reviewed decades old stage shows that are long gone, and
- 1:14:16I've compared Epcot's festivals to Elmo Saves Christmas.
- 1:14:20And that's exactly why I'm not going to ask a question about
- 1:14:23Muppets and Disney Parks. Instead, I'm going to ask a
- 1:14:27question about Universal Parks. In Universal Studios Florida,
- 1:14:32there's a roller coaster called Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit where
- 1:14:35guests can zoom through the park while listening to their choice
- 1:14:38of music in one of five different genres.
- 1:14:41Now fans in the knowmay already be aware that there's also
- 1:14:44secret song options that can be activated if you press and hold
- 1:14:48down the Ride logo after the restraints come down and enter a
- 1:14:52three digit code. Now you might think I'd ask
- 1:14:56which two Muppet songs are on this hidden set list, but for
- 1:14:59Scott and Shane, that's way too easy.
- 1:15:02It's a rainbow connection and moving right along, in case you
- 1:15:05didn't know. Instead, my question is what are
- 1:15:09the code numbers for these two songs?
- 1:15:13Go ahead, Scott and Shane. So I want to be clear.
- 1:15:17I want to be clear. I'm waiting.
- 1:15:24Tony, Tony, this was this. Matthew sent this in so long ago
- 1:15:30and it's just Scott and Shane because I told him that I was
- 1:15:33planning this episode for Muppet Wiki.
- 1:15:36People like Scott and Shane. So I do want to apologize that
- 1:15:41you're you're not shouted out in that particularly, but you are
- 1:15:46allowed to answer even though you are not Scott and Shane.
- 1:15:51I'll wait. Scott.
- 1:15:56I mean, I I it could literally be anything, right?
- 1:15:59I mean, the last time I was at Universal Studios, the Back to
- 1:16:02the Future ride was still there. 1985 Well, no, I'm kidding.
- 1:16:07He says it's a 3 digit code. Yeah, well, if my math is
- 1:16:11correct, that means there are 1000 possible answers.
- 1:16:16OK, well. So the odds are in my favor.
- 1:16:20Matthew did provide a hint. Stumped.
- 1:16:24Since this is the last game for the while, I'll be nice and give
- 1:16:28you both a hint. One of them is the area code for
- 1:16:31a city mentioned in a recurring sketch on Muppets Tonight.
- 1:16:38Shane, go ahead. Well, I didn't buzz in yet so I
- 1:16:41can't answer. I think that just made it worse.
- 1:16:49Well. I'm trying.
- 1:16:50I'm trying to see if I have a phone book in here.
- 1:16:53Why would you have a phone book? It's 2024.
- 1:16:57What is The Muppets? What is The Muppets Tonight
- 1:16:59Clue? So the three digit number is the
- 1:17:02area code for a city mentioned in a recurring Muppets Tonight
- 1:17:07sketch. All right, here we go with the
- 1:17:10answer. Wait, let me just take a guess,
- 1:17:15212. It is not 212 because that is
- 1:17:18the New York area code. Might as well guess.
- 1:17:21Tony Yeah, you want to guess? Listen, listen, you have a one
- 1:17:26in 999 chance of getting it right because you know it's not
- 1:17:30212. 227. It's not 227.
- 1:17:39The correct answers are 9/01 for moving right along and 9:02 for
- 1:17:45rainbow connection. Fun fact, 901 is also the area
- 1:17:50code for Memphis, TN, which was referenced in great moments in
- 1:17:54Elvis history and with that business concluded Becca.
- 1:17:59Every time I've been on Hubba Wah has been an absolute blast.
- 1:18:03Thank you for creating such a welcoming space and for letting
- 1:18:05us Muppet nerds flex our knowledge.
- 1:18:08I hope the show doesn't stay away too long, mostly because
- 1:18:11I've been dreaming of being on a sports themed episode.
- 1:18:14There will be no sports themed episode.
- 1:18:18Wow. And after all those nice things
- 1:18:19he said about you? I know.
- 1:18:20I I refuse. I'm so glad he left my name out.
- 1:18:27There's flexing your Muppet knowledge, but man, that was
- 1:18:29bending over backwards, that was, That was.
- 1:18:31Rough Scott and Shane did not know the answer.
- 1:18:35Matthew. Well, but Tony, you did know the
- 1:18:41answer, right? That's, that's the whole thing.
- 1:18:42He didn't mention you because, Not because when I was planning
- 1:18:47this, when I started planning this about three months ago, I
- 1:18:51didn't not have specific information.
- 1:18:55But no, it was just because he knew you would know.
- 1:18:57So we didn't want to make it too easy.
- 1:19:00Specific information, like a third contestant.
- 1:19:03I didn't know. This is not Matthew's fault.
- 1:19:09It's Universal Studios Florida's fault.
- 1:19:12Tony, I'm sorry, I didn't know. Like I said, Muppeteer.
- 1:19:19I told you you would hate me by the end of this.
- 1:19:23Oh, I'm not. I don't hate you.
- 1:19:24I am just very disappointed in you.
- 1:19:27Well, listen, you made it through 22 grueling questions
- 1:19:34from some of the biggest Muppet fans out there, but let's make
- 1:19:37it an even 25 by adding on questions from three other
- 1:19:42Muppet fans, namely you guys. That's right, we're doing a
- 1:19:47special version of our Stump the Host game, the Anything in the
- 1:19:52World Prize game. What makes it different this
- 1:19:55week is I've asked you all to bring 2 questions before you try
- 1:20:01to stump me, I want you to try to stump each other.
- 1:20:07So. Let's open up your questions to
- 1:20:13the table. So first, Shane, you are going
- 1:20:17to ask a question for Tony and Scott and Tony and Scott buzz in
- 1:20:22when you know the answer and you will earn 15 points.
- 1:20:29So, Shane. Okey Doke, Now all the best
- 1:20:33facts are about numbers, correct?
- 1:20:37Nine O 1 and nine O 2. Yes.
- 1:20:41So in the Ghost of Fafner Hall episode Improvised Music, Farkas
- 1:20:46sends Riff and Mimi on a task to measure all the rooms in Fafner
- 1:20:51Hall. But how many rooms are there in
- 1:20:55Fafner Hall? Because they give a specific
- 1:20:58number. Oh, Tony buzzed in.
- 1:21:05Oh good, I can let. I can let you host the show,
- 1:21:08Tony. I'm gonna guess 78. 78 OK,
- 1:21:15Scott, do you have an answer? Oh, look at look at Shane.
- 1:21:18You're you're doing such a great job hosting.
- 1:21:21I have no idea 99. Well, you guys are off by just a
- 1:21:30little bit. There are 1177 rooms in Fafner
- 1:21:37Hall. And all of them are memorable
- 1:21:39and wonderful, just like the show that goes to Fafner Hall.
- 1:21:45OK, so I was off by 1100. Yeah, give or take.
- 1:21:50Tony, do you have a question for Scott and Shane?
- 1:21:55Well, I didn't know what kind of question to do, but mine's one
- 1:21:58of those round Robin questions. Oh, like a.
- 1:22:03Beat the time. OK.
- 1:22:09So I guess it's going to be you 2 competing against each other.
- 1:22:13Yeah. All right, no rules.
- 1:22:17Tony, go ahead. OK, over the years Sesame Street
- 1:22:22has had numerous references to the story of Snow White and
- 1:22:26various versions of it. And one of those, one of the
- 1:22:30aspects of that is all the different kind of Muppet
- 1:22:33dwarves, so I'm going to see who can name the most.
- 1:22:39Dwarves, is there a specific skit that you were referring to?
- 1:22:43Or just all of the skits combined?
- 1:22:45I've got a list of 28 different dwarves from across Sesame
- 1:22:52Street over the years, so I was just trying to.
- 1:22:55I'm wanting to see if either of you can list any of them.
- 1:23:01I'm not counting the ones from Snow White and the 100 dwarves.
- 1:23:04OK. I feel like an idiot.
- 1:23:07No, you don't feel like an idiot.
- 1:23:09This is a great question, Scott. Do you know any of the dwarfs
- 1:23:13names from Sesame Street? I want to say that there was a
- 1:23:17sneezy. Nope.
- 1:23:19No. OK Shane, you can steal.
- 1:23:22You can name 2 dwarfs Pokey. Pokey is 1.
- 1:23:28Blakey. Oh, I'm sorry to hear that.
- 1:23:30Yep. OK, back to Scott.
- 1:23:35You'd think I'd know the ones from the older ones, but I'm
- 1:23:37thinking of the ones that were in the sketch with Amy Sedaris,
- 1:23:41'cause that's the one I probably watched multiple times with my
- 1:23:44daughter. I think there was a smelly there
- 1:23:49was. Hey, back back to Shane.
- 1:23:52Cheerful. Mm hmm.
- 1:23:55From the news flash sketch. OK, back to Scott.
- 1:24:01Ryan Dillon did one I think in might have been his first
- 1:24:06season. What was he called Sensitive
- 1:24:11Nose? That's him.
- 1:24:14If it helps, I'm going to help you a little bit.
- 1:24:17Some of the sketches that involve the dwarves were The Six
- 1:24:20Dwarves, which is a Snow White sketch with Frank Oz's Snow
- 1:24:25White, The Seven Emotional Dwarves which is a news flash
- 1:24:29segment, the Amy Sedaris episode, and just for fun, 8
- 1:24:35random ones from other projects. Is it?
- 1:24:40It's my turn, right? I have no idea.
- 1:24:44So Scott just guessed. Sensitive nose.
- 1:24:47Oh, that's right. Yeah.
- 1:24:47So I'm going to say proud. I'm proud to have gotten that.
- 1:24:53OK, Scott. Has anybody said clumsy yet?
- 1:24:59Nope, but he is 1. Is is clumsy 1 or is it?
- 1:25:02Yeah. Clumsy's one of the Amy sitters.
- 1:25:05Oh, OK. Good.
- 1:25:06Shane. There's a lovey.
- 1:25:08Right. Hey, back to Scott.
- 1:25:11My brain is broken. Crusty.
- 1:25:15I don't know. Nope, not one of the dwarfs.
- 1:25:17OK, Shane, you can give 2. There's angry, cheerful.
- 1:25:25Oop, you already What's the cheerful?
- 1:25:27Oh. I have here a list.
- 1:25:31OK. A list of the dwarfs.
- 1:25:35So I guess I'm going to call it here then, because wait.
- 1:25:40Wait, wait a minute. We got like.
- 1:25:41Yeah, but we've got two mistakes.
- 1:25:44We got two mistakes. So what I'm going to say is
- 1:25:47point wise because Shane got more of the dwarfs correct.
- 1:25:51I am going to give give Shane the 15 points.
- 1:25:58However, Tony, can you list the dwarfs, the other dwarfs you
- 1:26:02were looking for? Sure thing from the six dwarves,
- 1:26:05they are sparky, snooky, pokey, flaky, drippy and sneaky.
- 1:26:12From the Newsflash segment, cheerful, angry, lovey, fearful,
- 1:26:16sad, surprised and proud. From the Amy Sedaris episode
- 1:26:21Clumsy, Hammy, Smelly, sensitive nose, Gassy, Itchy and Vertigo.
- 1:26:28Yeah, I see that. That had to have been a Joey
- 1:26:30Mesrino character. 100%. The eight extra are from lesser
- 1:26:36known versions from the Abbey's Flying Fairy school segment.
- 1:26:40There's one where they consult a fairy tale book and somebody
- 1:26:46lists off a few of the dwarves names, the dozy meanie, blushy
- 1:26:51and obsequious. That's a Joey Mazzarino joke as
- 1:26:56well. And probably most obscures from
- 1:26:59the Sesame Street book of fairy tales.
- 1:27:02This is a story where the count interrupts big birds readings
- 1:27:07and he ends up crashing into the stage they're in.
- 1:27:10It's in the treasury as well. And those not repeated because I
- 1:27:15think pokey and flakey were a couple of them.
- 1:27:17There's also Spunky, Skimpy, Schnibby, and bainstock.
- 1:27:23OK. That's not a Joey Mazzarino
- 1:27:25joke, all right. And thank you Tony.
- 1:27:30That was great, Scott. So this is for Shane and Tony
- 1:27:33all. Right.
- 1:27:38So for Shane and Tony, although she starred in the 1993
- 1:27:42illustrated book I Want to Be President, Betty Lou had a
- 1:27:44different goal in the 1982 View Master set.
- 1:27:47People in Your neighborhood. What was it I see, Tony?
- 1:27:56Think she wanted to be an architect?
- 1:27:59That is incorrect, Shane. I'm going to say she wanted to
- 1:28:03be a Carpenter. That is also incorrect, she So
- 1:28:12the the people in your neighborhood view master set,
- 1:28:15they would show the Muppet character with something that
- 1:28:18they did playing as a child and then they would show like a
- 1:28:20fantasy version of what that aspiration was and the two that
- 1:28:24depicted Betty Lou's showed that she wanted to be a car mechanic.
- 1:28:30I thought that was Prairie Dawn. Wait, Are you sure that isn't
- 1:28:33Prairie Dawn in the book? I think you might be scrambling
- 1:28:36the people in your neighborhood ones the different Prairie Dawn
- 1:28:41is absolutely the car mechanic on that on that that view
- 1:28:46master. I just made the most basic bro
- 1:28:50mistake, muppet fan mistake you could possibly make the thing
- 1:28:54that I berate others for. Well, here's what's funny.
- 1:28:58Prairie Dawn is the mechanic in that.
- 1:28:59However, our pal Betty Lou, your friend and mine, but mostly
- 1:29:05mine, is of course an architect, meaning that I will give Tony, I
- 1:29:15will give Tony those points. That that was that was
- 1:29:18incredibly embarrassing. But I'm, I'm, I'm glad to take
- 1:29:21that hit because Tony absolutely called me on that.
- 1:29:24So very, very well done. It's funny because I I have the,
- 1:29:28I mean again, I have the picture of Prairie Dawn as a mechanic
- 1:29:32saved on my phone. So I was like, wait a minute,
- 1:29:35Betty. Like, again, because I I, I care
- 1:29:38too much about the distinction because I'm fascinated by it.
- 1:29:42Talk about this the other day on the Discord.
- 1:29:44Yeah, well, because again at Prairie Dawn in the Sesame
- 1:29:47Street dictionary has a garage, the Dawn to Dusk garage, which
- 1:29:53is also in a a color form set that Tony was showing us.
- 1:29:58So good stuff on the tough pigs Discord, hey, that's a plug for
- 1:30:01that. But Scott, unfortunately.
- 1:30:07I should lose points for for mixing up.
- 1:30:09No, I'll be nice. I'll be nice and not do that,
- 1:30:13but we will move on to. We're not mad, we're just
- 1:30:16disappointed. We will move on to the question,
- 1:30:19the questions you have to stump me.
- 1:30:21So Scott, why don't you go first with a question to stump me?
- 1:30:26All right, question for Becca. In an attempt to stump including
- 1:30:31his recurring stuffed monster named Hercules, Muppet Wiki has
- 1:30:36documented at least 20 different dolls owned by Hairy Monster
- 1:30:40over the years. Most of them were fairly generic
- 1:30:43and unnamed, but at one point he receives A raggedy and doll.
- 1:30:47To whom did that doll originally belong?
- 1:30:51So it's hilarious because I actually read this article last
- 1:30:53week because I think Tony actually posted it in the
- 1:30:57discord. Is it David?
- 1:31:01It is not. Scott Who was it?
- 1:31:05So it's a bit of a trick question because it's unclear it
- 1:31:09the raggedy and all is found in a box that Mister Hooper and his
- 1:31:13brother Arnold are going through and they they argue over who who
- 1:31:20it belonged to. So it was one of the Hooper
- 1:31:21brothers, and they decide to gift it to Harry after Harry
- 1:31:25becomes so enamoured with it. Well, that was very kind of
- 1:31:28them. I like the the Hooper brothers
- 1:31:33is it sounds very good. All right, well, you are going
- 1:31:36to get 15 points either way and now we will move to Shane.
- 1:31:42Shane, do you have a question to stump me?
- 1:31:44I do have a question. So in the Pigs in Space episode
- 1:31:50or Skid from the Cloris Leachman episode, the swine trek is
- 1:31:54invaded by chopped liver and this piggy calls him hideous and
- 1:32:00he replies hideous for X amount of money per pound you expect
- 1:32:05beautiful. So, Becca, how much is chopped
- 1:32:10liver per pound? Shane Shane loves his numbers.
- 1:32:13Numbers make the best facts. Is it?
- 1:32:16Well then listen, my question for you guys involves numbers,
- 1:32:19so it's fine, but I'm going to guess $0.85.
- 1:32:25Wow, Becca, you're so close. No, it's $1.69.
- 1:32:30Oh, nice. Yeah, but what's that inflation?
- 1:32:33And I did look that up and I forgot to write it down, to
- 1:32:36remember it because I know that, like, Ryan and Anthony love
- 1:32:40their inflation calculator. I think it was like $8 or
- 1:32:43something. Yeah, it's it's big.
- 1:32:46It's big. That is, that's a lot.
- 1:32:48It better be beautiful than $8. The economy is in shambles.
- 1:32:54Tony, do you have a question for me?
- 1:32:57Well, I got a question with a two-part answer.
- 1:33:00Either one's. Either one's OK.
- 1:33:03This question is about the Furry Arms Hotel and you can answer
- 1:33:07either one of these What was the original name of the hotel
- 1:33:12according to the creators of the show and what is the in What was
- 1:33:18the original name of the hotel within the Muppet universe?
- 1:33:21I'm. A fake Furry Arms fan.
- 1:33:24Because I don't remember this. I'm a I'm a fake Furry Arms fan.
- 1:33:29I could tell you about how Humphrey and Ingrid met at the
- 1:33:33Furry Arms. I could tell you about Cherie
- 1:33:37Netherland and Benny Rabbit, and I could tell you about when
- 1:33:42Frazzle was staying there, but he was weirdly not Frazzle and
- 1:33:47all of these different things. But like, I can't tell you this,
- 1:33:50Tony, so I'm going to give you 15 points as well, Shane.
- 1:33:54It seems like you know though. I do know the answer.
- 1:33:59So the original name out universe by the Riders was the
- 1:34:03right Arms Hotel. That's.
- 1:34:05Right. Oh, that's funny in.
- 1:34:08Reference to the right-handed performers.
- 1:34:10And then in universe, they mentioned this on the Phil
- 1:34:14Donahue Show. And I remember I saved that in
- 1:34:18my brain because I thought it was a really funny joke when I
- 1:34:20first heard it. They wanted to call it the big
- 1:34:22building with free soap. But it was taken.
- 1:34:28It's it was already taken. God, I mean 90s Sesame Street is
- 1:34:33weird, but when it was funny, it was very funny.
- 1:34:39Becca, off the record, I was going to ask you about Betty
- 1:34:42Lou's favorite doll, but after going through the Donahue
- 1:34:47episode, I realized it was it was another doll, so I couldn't
- 1:34:51ask. It.
- 1:34:52I would have loved it, but I actually you would have been
- 1:34:54fine stumping me with the name of the doll because I don't know
- 1:34:56the name of the specific doll. I, I, I, I need to rewatch the
- 1:35:01like only eight episodes that she is in because this so-called
- 1:35:08in the 90s we need to do more with Betty Lou really did not
- 1:35:12amount to much. Getting a migraine.
- 1:35:16Our final game is, of course, say the word.
- 1:35:20As you surely know, in this round you can wager any amount
- 1:35:23of points. The winner gets those points and
- 1:35:27the loser loses them. You will get to hear the
- 1:35:29question before you answered, and here is a question from me.
- 1:35:35All right, so one of the most impressive things you guys have
- 1:35:39accomplished over at Muppet Wiki is that Sesame Street episode
- 1:35:43guide we were talking about. As we said earlier in the
- 1:35:46episode, there's now a full episode guide for every single
- 1:35:50episode of Sesame Street. 54 years of Sesame Street at our
- 1:35:55fingertips, it's really something special. 55 It's 2024,
- 1:36:00although I guess the show premiered in November, so it's
- 1:36:0454 years. This also means that now we can
- 1:36:08say with some degree of certainty how many episodes of
- 1:36:12Sesame Street each character appeared in.
- 1:36:16Now, Muppet Wiki has, on certain characters pages, the number of
- 1:36:23episodes with street scenes featuring certain characters.
- 1:36:29We're talking about St. scenes here, right?
- 1:36:32In other words, the new footage recorded for each episode as
- 1:36:35opposed to recurring sketches and segments.
- 1:36:39Muppet Wiki on those individual lists has things broken down in
- 1:36:43terms of five year periods, but that wasn't specific enough for
- 1:36:49me. So I spent this morning counting
- 1:36:54episodes even more specifically, and now I'm going to make that
- 1:37:00your problem as I ask you about my signature favorite characters
- 1:37:07episodes. Before we get to that question
- 1:37:10though, let me review the rules here.
- 1:37:13Scott, you currently have 85 points.
- 1:37:19Shane, you have 110 points and Tony you have 150 points.
- 1:37:29I mean. As I was saying, those are the
- 1:37:32point totals. So now you know how many points
- 1:37:35you have to wager. And here is your question.
- 1:37:43Thanks to Muppet Wiki, we know that my girl Prairie Dawn wasn't
- 1:37:49in as many St. scenes as we all thought she was.
- 1:37:53The various recurring segments really skewed our memory, I
- 1:37:56guess. However, we know that she's
- 1:37:59still important to me now. I went through and counted how
- 1:38:04many episodes with street scenes featuring Prairie Dawn there
- 1:38:10were in each season of Sesame Street.
- 1:38:14So I am going to ask you, there are two seasons of Sesame Street
- 1:38:19that are tied for having the most episodes with street scenes
- 1:38:25featuring Prairie Dawn. Which two seasons are those?
- 1:38:33And in each of those seasons, how many episodes did she appear
- 1:38:40in? Again, And for folks at home who
- 1:38:43might not know the terminology, when we say St. scenes, we mean
- 1:38:48the new footage of the characters interacting with the
- 1:38:52humans and other Muppets on the actual Sesame Street set.
- 1:38:57We do not mean any recurring sketches like Monster Piece
- 1:39:00Theater or Guy Smiley game shows or animations of the Ladybugs
- 1:39:07Picnic or anything like that. We need new footage.
- 1:39:11So what I'd like you to do is I want you to send in both the two
- 1:39:16seasons that you think featured the most episodes with Prairie
- 1:39:21Dawn and in each of those seasons how many episodes she
- 1:39:26appeared in. And again, that is the same
- 1:39:28number in each of those seasons because they are tied.
- 1:39:32Whoever gets more of these correct will get their points
- 1:39:36back. So if Scott and Shane both get
- 1:39:40zero of them correct, but Tony gets the right number of
- 1:39:43episodes but not the right seasons, Tony will be the one
- 1:39:46who wins his points back. OK, so everybody has submitted
- 1:39:54Shane and Tony. You each guessed the same two
- 1:39:59seasons of Sesame Street. Shane and Tony, which two
- 1:40:03seasons did you guess? Season 23 and 24.
- 1:40:11Tony, you agree, Scott, you guessed two different seasons,
- 1:40:15Scott, Which seasons did you guess?
- 1:40:18Guess is the operable word here because I guessed 31 and 32.
- 1:40:23OK. And Scott, how many episodes did
- 1:40:26you say she appeared in in each of those seasons?
- 1:40:30Again with the guests 15 each. All right, Shane, how many
- 1:40:35episodes did you say she appeared in in each of those
- 1:40:37seasons? I said 9.
- 1:40:40OK. And Tony.
- 1:40:43I said 22 because I figured there's a lot of stuff with her
- 1:40:46and Monty. So seasons 23 and 24 are the
- 1:40:54correct answer. Those seasons are tied for the
- 1:40:58most appearances of Prairie Dawn.
- 1:41:04However, in each of those seasons she only appeared in 12
- 1:41:11episodes St. scenes. So I do also want to add real
- 1:41:18quick. Season 23 is the one that
- 1:41:21premiered 2 months after I was born.
- 1:41:24So is it a coincidence? Probably.
- 1:41:27But maybe. I mean, it honestly isn't
- 1:41:30because it means that those episodes were in circulation
- 1:41:33when I was a child. But the point still stands that
- 1:41:38Tony and Shane both got the seasons correct.
- 1:41:43Shane, you are much closer than Tony in terms of the amount of
- 1:41:49episodes that she appeared in in each of those seasons.
- 1:41:54So I am going to give you your bet back.
- 1:41:57Your bet was three points, which puts your score at 113 points.
- 1:42:07I didn't want to risk it. Now here's why none of what I
- 1:42:11just said actually matters, because the pony is going to
- 1:42:15lose 35 points, bringing his score to 115 points.
- 1:42:22Wait a minute. Wait a minute, I thought.
- 1:42:26I I bet 20. Oh, you bet 20.
- 1:42:30I mean, it doesn't matter either way.
- 1:42:31You have more points, Tony. That's what I'm trying to say.
- 1:42:35God, when did I lose control of the plot here?
- 1:42:38But either way, Tony has more points.
- 1:42:40Tony bet 20, bringing him to 130 and Scott bet zero, bringing him
- 1:42:45to 85 points. So no matter how we slice it,
- 1:42:50whether I give Tony points or not or whether I take away 35
- 1:42:56points from Tony or not, Tony is still today's winner and today's
- 1:43:01toughest pig. Bravo.
- 1:43:06So I do want to say, though, Tony, congratulations.
- 1:43:12But I did promise you all that you were all going to be winners
- 1:43:15tonight. So here's what I'm going to say.
- 1:43:18Each of you can request any Muppet and I will make you some
- 1:43:23art of that Muppet. Tony, because you won, you can
- 1:43:27name two Muppets. I don't think we we don't have
- 1:43:30to come up with them right now, do we?
- 1:43:33Think about it while I'm doing my outro and and tell me at the
- 1:43:37end that'll be good audio. That brings us to the end of
- 1:43:40another one. So get guests.
- 1:43:43Where can people find you if you wish to be found?
- 1:43:46Let's start with Scott. Well, social media is a dumpster
- 1:43:51fire, so I'll just say come and find us on Muppet Wiki.
- 1:43:54Muppet Wiki is great, Shane. Yeah, I am still on the social
- 1:44:01media, so you can follow me at Sock drawer.

- 1:44:40Tony I'm so glad. I'm so glad we could we could we
- 1:44:44could finally get you on the show.
- 1:44:46It really was too long and and I wanted to make sure that we we

- 1:44:52You You've done a great job with this Becca.

- 1:47:16some of the stuff we've got planned for 2024 and what
- 1:47:20Muppets am I drawing? I would like a dog lion please.
- 1:47:23OK, Shane requests dog lion. In keeping in theme with the
- 1:47:26episode, I I'll have to go with 1880s robot.
- 1:47:29OK. And Tony, you get to tell me
- 1:47:32too. I was going to go obscure, but
- 1:47:36in honor of Hubba Wah, I'm going to go with Prairie Dawn and
- 1:47:41Betty Lou. All right, don't get them mixed
- 1:47:44up. That would be a real a real
- 1:47:48rookie mistake. She really could just draw the
- 1:47:52same thing twice and most people wouldn't know.
- 1:47:54What I'm just going to have to do is just draw them from the
- 1:47:56foreheads down and no one will know.
- 1:48:00Sesame Street merchandise gets them confused.
- 1:48:03Including the people in your neighborhood poster set, which
- 1:48:06does label Betty Lou as period on.
- 1:48:10But thank you all so much. It really was a pleasure.
- 1:48:14I'm so glad you could all be with me on this wild episode.
- 1:48:18Goodnight everyone.
