- 0:03SPEAKER_01: Hello, everyone.
- 0:04SPEAKER_01: Welcome back to another episode of Crushing Strongholds.
- 0:07SPEAKER_01: This is a place where we turn power or pain into power, tra trauma into triumph, and a place where we get to expose the lies of the enemy.
- 0:16SPEAKER_01: This is also a place where your testimony matters and it helps dismantle strongholds.
- 0:21SPEAKER_01: And today I'm super, super excited.
- 0:23SPEAKER_01: I have a wonderful guest with us today.
- 0:25SPEAKER_01: Her name is Deborah McNinch, and she is a founder of the Battle Cry Prayer Movement.
- 0:33SPEAKER_01: And I'm telling y'all, if you haven't looked up this website, you need to get on it because it is such an amazing website.
- 0:39SPEAKER_01: I can't wait for her to come on and tell us how it all came about.
- 0:42SPEAKER_01: But if you are lonesome or have a prodigal child or feel estranged from one of your kids, this is the website that you want to check out.
- 0:50SPEAKER_01: Definitely want to get to know who Debora is and seek out what she's doing because she is helping people all over get past the hurt and um the fear that comes with having a prodigal child.
- 1:04SPEAKER_01: So I want to welcome in Deborah.
- 1:06SPEAKER_01: Thank you so much for being here today.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: Oh, hello, and thank you for having me.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: I'm so just super excited to just dig in and have a conversation with you today.
- 1:16SPEAKER_01: Well, I'm glad you're here and I'm glad we're we're actually getting a talk.
- 1:19SPEAKER_01: And I'm I'm I'm so I'm so excited that um uh we met up because this has been something that I could, like I said before, I could have used this over the last few years of my life because I I 100% can relate with this.
- 1:32SPEAKER_01: Um I love the battle cry.
- 1:34SPEAKER_01: Love what you call it.
- 1:36SPEAKER_01: It is a battle cry.
- 1:37SPEAKER_01: What you're doing is perfect.
- 1:38SPEAKER_01: Um, I love that it's a prayer movement because you know what better power than to take it to the Lord in prayer, right?
- 1:45SPEAKER_01: And so I I love what you're doing.
- 1:47SPEAKER_01: And I know you're an author also of Battle Cry, and it's um Love Goes to War, correct?
- 1:53SPEAKER_01: Is that the name of the book?
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: Yes, that's it.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: Battle cry.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: Love goes to war, yes.
- 1:57SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 1:58SPEAKER_01: So not only are you a child of the king, but you're also a wife and a mother and a speaker.
- 2:04SPEAKER_01: And um, so can you just share with us like a little bit about yourself, what you're doing, and and how you're doing it?
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah, uh like you said, my name is Deborah and I am a wife.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: I've been married 33 years.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: I should know that off the top of my head, 33, 34 years, long time.
- 2:21SPEAKER_00: Um, I have three amazing kids that are all adults, and then they're all kind of all doing their own thing.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: And I, as we talked about before we jumped on, I am a dog mom.
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: I'm a new dog mom now of two puppies.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: We have this just got this last year.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: So that's been super fun.
- 2:37SPEAKER_00: And we have a stray cat named Butters that we take care of.
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: And so that's kind of a little bit about me.
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: And I run um and I'm the founder of a movement called Battlecry.
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: And it's a movement that I started out of a place of pain and just trying to figure out what God had for me in a season that I found myself in after a just a parenting detour that I did not see coming.
- 3:00SPEAKER_00: And that, you know, it started out as pain, but then God turned it to a purpose.
- 3:05SPEAKER_00: And that is how Battlecry the Prayer Movement began.
- 3:08SPEAKER_01: That is really amazing.
- 3:10SPEAKER_01: Now, I I I was looking at your profile, and um I wanted I'm trying to find it real quick because you are the butter founder.
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: Is that what what it said?
- 3:23SPEAKER_00: No, it said I'm the I am the uh feeder of butters.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: Feeder of butter.
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: I was like, I knew I was gonna say that wrong.
- 3:29SPEAKER_01: I was like, I know I should have written that one down because I was like, I've got to ask her what that means.
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: Yes, butters is the stray cat that we have in the neighborhood that has adopted us, and um, I somehow have become the feeder of butters.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: So that's my full-time job.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: That makes sense.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: That makes sense.
- 3:45SPEAKER_01: I thought, you know, in my mind, I thought, well, maybe she makes butter locally and gives it to her neighbors because you, you know, you feed people.
- 3:51SPEAKER_01: Well, I did that also.
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: I do, I do that also, but but no butters is the cat.
- 3:58SPEAKER_01: Oh, that's really that's really awesome.
- 3:59SPEAKER_01: I was like, I gotta find more out about that because I wanted to know what what you're doing.
- 4:03SPEAKER_01: So you also like um you you you're are you still in Kansas now?
- 4:08SPEAKER_01: You live in Kansas?
- 4:09SPEAKER_00: We have lived all over.
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: I'm originally from Kansas, but we have lived in nine different states, and we currently reside in Indiana.
- 4:17SPEAKER_00: So I'm still in the Midwest, but um not I have I'm not in Kansas anymore.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: I I haven't been there for several years.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: I would love to go back someday, but for now we live in Indiana.
- 4:28SPEAKER_01: I love that.
- 4:29SPEAKER_01: And I love that you also are into bluegrass.
- 4:31SPEAKER_01: I love bluegrass music.
- 4:33SPEAKER_01: Well, there we go.
- 4:34SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 4:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I love I love Allison Krause.
- 4:38SPEAKER_01: Do you like her?
- 4:39SPEAKER_00: Oh, yes, a little Allison Krause.
- 4:41SPEAKER_00: You gotta love that.
- 4:43SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we we love our bluegrass.
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: We love our bluegrass around here.
- 4:47SPEAKER_00: Oh, that's awesome.
- 4:48SPEAKER_01: That's really awesome.
- 4:49SPEAKER_01: So I know that behind Battlecry, everyone's probably wondering, okay, you guys are talking about Battlecry Movement.
- 4:55SPEAKER_01: What is it?
- 4:56SPEAKER_01: Would you share with our listeners exactly what Battlecry Movement is all about and how you came about doing this movement?
- 5:03SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 5:03SPEAKER_00: And so my story started about eight years ago, almost nine, coming up this summer.
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: And it started simply with a phone call from my oldest child that one day called and said, Mom, I'm transgender.
- 5:17SPEAKER_00: And I didn't know at the time really what that meant, honestly, because it was kind of the beginning of the movement that we see today, um, you know, with the transgender movement.
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: Um, I didn't know a lot about it, and I really didn't even kind of know what it meant, honestly.
- 5:33SPEAKER_00: And so at the beginning, it just I had a lot of fear, I had a lot of questions, um, and I just had a lot of anxiety over what my life now was going to look like.
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: And how could I be an evangelical Christian and then have a child that was now um identifying as transgender and not serving the Lord?
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: And I really had to just figure out where I stood.
- 5:57SPEAKER_00: And so I I like to say that it was like I had this perfect little house that I had built, and it was like a tsunami had just came in and wiped it out.
- 6:05SPEAKER_00: And I had to decide is my house built on the rock of Jesus Christ?
- 6:10SPEAKER_00: And what is my foundation?
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: What does that look like?
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: Or is it on shifting sand?
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: And was this announcement going to just bury me or was it gonna propel me into what God had for me?
- 6:21SPEAKER_00: And so it took a long time.
- 6:23SPEAKER_00: It wasn't an instant thing, but I knew right away that God was gonna have me.
- 6:28SPEAKER_00: One of the very first things I heard him say to me was write down what I tell you each day, because you're going to need to share that with people.
- 6:35SPEAKER_00: And so I knew from the beginning that God was gonna take something out of this pain and he was gonna make something beautiful out of it.
- 6:42SPEAKER_00: And that is where the battle cry prayer movement started.
- 6:46SPEAKER_00: And it just started at a place of I have got to figure out how to pray for my child and how to love him right where he's at, but yet serve the Lord and love the Lord with all of my heart and all of my soul and all of my strength at the same time.
- 7:00SPEAKER_00: And that's how battle cry began.
- 7:03SPEAKER_01: I couldn't even imagine walking through that.
- 7:05SPEAKER_01: I mean, I I you do hear a lot about it, you know, and um it's interesting that you kind of get sideswiped with something, you know, it comes at you and you're like, oh my gosh, I'm not really sure how to process all of this.
- 7:22SPEAKER_01: Um, because there's there's a lot to it because we love our children.
- 7:26SPEAKER_01: We love our children.
- 7:27SPEAKER_01: And one thing I've had to with my own situation, I've had to learn to give my children over to God.
- 7:33SPEAKER_01: As much as I want to just I want to be the one to, you know, tell them what to do and how to do it.
- 7:39SPEAKER_01: I have to trust that God has a plan from for you know our lives and our and has a purpose.
- 7:44SPEAKER_01: And so I absolutely love that this that you have this movement.
- 7:47SPEAKER_01: Now, how long has this movement been going on for?
- 7:51SPEAKER_00: So the announcement that my son was transgender was about eight years ago, and it took me a couple of years to really find my voice and to figure out how to speak about this because I never wanted to speak about something that I didn't know how to articulate exactly what I wanted to say based on the word of God and and and the Lord and in his kingdom.
- 8:16SPEAKER_00: I never wanted to stray from from his word, and I only wanted to speak truth.
- 8:21SPEAKER_00: So it took me a long time, a couple of years, to really find my voice and and to talk about these hard things.
- 8:27SPEAKER_00: But it really started, it'll be five years in May that I started the Battlecry Moms website, and we have over 1600 moms and it and it grows every single day.
- 8:39SPEAKER_00: And we have moms in our group that have LGBTQ kids.
- 8:43SPEAKER_00: We have moms that have estrangement issues going on in their home.
- 8:47SPEAKER_00: We have moms that have kids addicted to alcohol and drugs.
- 8:50SPEAKER_00: Um, maybe they're in prison, or maybe they just simply don't believe.
- 8:54SPEAKER_00: And so our group is made up of moms that have prodigals of all different walks of life, but we come together in our group and we pray, but we believe that God is answering our prayers and that He is chasing after our children and He is He is never going to let them go too far, and they are gonna come back.
- 9:15SPEAKER_00: And so we pray and we believe that our kids are coming home in our group.
- 9:20SPEAKER_01: That's really awesome.
- 9:22SPEAKER_01: I I I can't even imagine trying to walk through it alone.
- 9:27SPEAKER_01: I have my daughter that helps me a lot um with it.
- 9:32SPEAKER_01: But back actually, all three of my my daughters helped me.
- 9:36SPEAKER_01: And I I remember telling them specifically, don't you ever do this to me?
- 9:40SPEAKER_01: Because I don't know if I can handle it.
- 9:41SPEAKER_01: One was enough because it just it broke it broke me into pieces.
- 9:46SPEAKER_01: And I, you know how you I I don't know if you've you did this, but did you ever look back on like how you raised your child and be like, like what did I do wrong?
- 9:56SPEAKER_01: Was it something I did?
- 9:57SPEAKER_01: Was it something I said?
- 9:58SPEAKER_01: Was it was I not supportive enough?
- 10:00SPEAKER_01: Was I not understanding enough?
- 10:02SPEAKER_01: Or, you know, you question yourself as a parent in um, how did this happen?
- 10:08SPEAKER_01: How did I let something like this happen?
- 10:10SPEAKER_01: And sometimes it's not even us, it's just it's just the world we live in, you know.
- 10:14SPEAKER_01: We're influenced by so many things, but we want to think, or at least for myself, want to think that we're the main influence, you know, we're gonna give them the best, best options and choices and and desires, and we're gonna lead them the right direction.
- 10:27SPEAKER_01: And when when that wrench is thrown at you and and you're not expecting it, you you just kind of like it, it really does break you.
- 10:34SPEAKER_01: I know for myself I was broken, you know.
- 10:36SPEAKER_01: I still am broken because I have I, you know, I don't have a relationship with my son right now.
- 10:41SPEAKER_01: And um I hold on to everything that I have had with him.
- 10:45SPEAKER_01: Um, of course, parents, I think we all do that.
- 10:48SPEAKER_01: And I look forward to the day, I just pray all the time that, you know, God will just open the door and um change his heart, change his mind, and give him um an ability to understand that no matter what he chooses, I'm gonna love and accept him, no matter what.
- 11:05SPEAKER_01: And I think people don't well, I don't want to say people, but children don't understand that from their parents.
- 11:09SPEAKER_01: They think, oh, if I don't turn out the way they want us to, you know, then they're gonna separate.
- 11:15SPEAKER_01: We have to be separate from them.
- 11:16SPEAKER_01: And it's so scary because you just don't ever think it's gonna happen until it happens to you.
- 11:22unknown: Right.
- 11:22SPEAKER_00: Does that make sense?
- 11:23SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 11:23SPEAKER_00: We, you know, I often say that, you know, we dedicate our babies at church and we pray Jeremiah 29.11 that they're gonna have this hope in a future, but we don't really stop to realize that verse had nothing to do with baby dedications or high school graduations.
- 11:38SPEAKER_00: But, you know, if we do, and it is, it's 100% God's word is for us.
- 11:43SPEAKER_00: But if we if we decide that verse is gonna be for our children and they do have a hope in a future, we also have to take into account that there was 70 years of captivity in there before they got that hope and a future.
- 11:55SPEAKER_00: So we have to realize that we might go through some hard things.
- 11:59SPEAKER_00: And I don't think we do a great job, you know, in the church of walking with parents and telling them that, hey, it's not always unicorns and rainbows that parenting is hard.
- 12:09SPEAKER_00: And it's like a slot machine.
- 12:11SPEAKER_00: Sometimes we feel like we put a quarter in, you know, oh, look, we prayed before we ate.
- 12:15SPEAKER_00: Oh, look, we put a quarter in.
- 12:16SPEAKER_00: We went to church, we went to Wednesday night, we went to youth group, we did all of these things, and we think that we're gonna pull this lever down somehow and get this jackpot one day.
- 12:25SPEAKER_00: But then the jackpot doesn't come up and your children stray from the faith they were brought in.
- 12:29SPEAKER_00: And then you're left questioning, just like you said, is this my fault?
- 12:33SPEAKER_00: You know, did we skip church one Sunday?
- 12:35SPEAKER_00: Did we, did I fail to somehow point my kids to the Lord?
- 12:38SPEAKER_00: And so we we get stuck in that headspace of, is this my fault?
- 12:41SPEAKER_00: And the woulda, coulda, shoulda's, you know, of what I could have done differently or what I wish I could have done differently.
- 12:46SPEAKER_00: And Satan is really good at his game and he wants to keep parents beaten down and you know, just broken over the decisions of their children, broken to the point that they cannot go out and further the kingdom of God and do what they're supposed to be doing because they're stuck in this pain.
- 13:04SPEAKER_00: And that's what Satan does.
- 13:05SPEAKER_00: He just whispers in your ear, it's all your fault all the time.
- 13:10SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 13:11SPEAKER_01: I think that with that exact comment that Satan is constantly um gonna let us know what we've done wrong.
- 13:21SPEAKER_01: And and and God doesn't want us actually doing that, He doesn't want us trying to go back and dissect everything that we could have possibly possibly done wrong.
- 13:30SPEAKER_01: We need to just surrender it and give it to God, and that's the hardest thing, I think, for me.
- 13:35SPEAKER_01: It's like, excuse me, I still question, you know, okay, God, you know, what if I'd have done this?
- 13:40SPEAKER_01: And my my son was, you know, we had such a really close relationship, and um we we just had so many really, really good times together.
- 13:50SPEAKER_01: And it just like out of the blue happened, and when when he just decided that, you know, he wasn't gonna be around not not just me, but his whole entire family, all of his friends, he annihilated everyone that was in his past.
- 14:03SPEAKER_01: And he just decided that he wasn't gonna have anything to do with it.
- 14:06SPEAKER_01: And I was like, oh my goodness, how do you, you know, his friends would call me, like, why, you know, and I'm like, I don't have any idea.
- 14:13SPEAKER_01: I don't, I don't really understand it.
- 14:14SPEAKER_01: I'm still trying to process it, you know.
- 14:16SPEAKER_01: And I know that for myself, um, it it is a stronghold that I've struggled with in my life, you know, trying to figure out how do I overcome the stronghold, how how do I get out from underneath, you know, the enemy, keeping me in a place of depression, anxiety, worry.
- 14:33SPEAKER_01: Um, I worry, you know, all the time.
- 14:35SPEAKER_01: And it's interesting for myself because I have people that have ran into him, and they're like, hey, why aren't you talking to your mom?
- 14:42SPEAKER_01: Why aren't you talking to your dad?
- 14:43SPEAKER_01: And and he's like, he's like, Yeah, he's like, um, I'm not gonna talk to anybody that might disrespect my wife or my girlfriend.
- 14:50SPEAKER_01: I guess he got married.
- 14:51SPEAKER_01: I guess he's married now, and and so um we're like, wow, we're missing out on so much of his life that we could be participating in and helping and just being involved in.
- 15:01SPEAKER_01: And he just doesn't want it, you know.
- 15:04SPEAKER_01: And that separation is really, really, I think, really hard for a parent to go through.
- 15:10SPEAKER_00: It is really hard.
- 15:11SPEAKER_00: It is really hard.
- 15:12SPEAKER_00: It's not the way it's supposed to be.
- 15:13SPEAKER_00: You know, it's not the the dreams, it's not the way that you planned on it being.
- 15:18SPEAKER_00: And when it happens unexpectedly, it's just hard to know what to do.
- 15:23SPEAKER_00: But I think you have to go back and just remember that, you know, your job as a mom and as a parent, you know, was to build that foundation strong.
- 15:32SPEAKER_00: And if you, you know, poured into him and built him strong, you know, it's not your job.
- 15:37SPEAKER_00: And this is hard to realize because we just assume we're gonna be in control forever, you know, forever our kids, but we're not, you know, they have free choice and they they become adults and they become their own people.
- 15:49SPEAKER_00: Um, but you know, we we built the foundation.
- 15:52SPEAKER_00: And if the foundation is strong, we're gonna just have to leave it up to the Lord to build the rest of the house.
- 15:58SPEAKER_00: And I believe that one day that they will come back to that solid foundation and they will come back to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
- 16:06SPEAKER_00: But it is hard.
- 16:07SPEAKER_00: And in the meantime, we have to just remember that God loves them more than we do.
- 16:12SPEAKER_00: And it's hard to even say that and believe that, but it's true.
- 16:15SPEAKER_00: God lives them more than we love them, and he is holding their future.
- 16:20SPEAKER_00: And sometimes we have to get out of the way.
- 16:23SPEAKER_00: We have to just get out of the way.
- 16:24SPEAKER_00: And that's not the way I would pick.
- 16:26SPEAKER_00: I mean, if it was me, if God would just kind of ask my opinion on that, I'd be like, I got some ideas how you can fix all this, you know.
- 16:33SPEAKER_00: How about we try this for a while?
- 16:36SPEAKER_00: But God assures me he has it, and I'm sure he has it in your situation, and I know he has it in many, many of your listeners' situations as well, that God is in control and it's hard.
- 16:47SPEAKER_00: It's so hard.
- 16:48SPEAKER_00: But that is where faith comes in.
- 16:49SPEAKER_00: Faith is easy when you don't need it, just to say I have faith, but faith is built in the trenches and in the pain and in the pit.
- 16:57SPEAKER_00: And that is when we walk out what we actually say we believe, and we have to believe that God has it and that somehow, some way, someday, it is all going to work out.
- 17:08SPEAKER_00: And we're just gonna stay in faith and believe until we see the redemption that we pray for.
- 17:13SPEAKER_01: That's really awesome.
- 17:14SPEAKER_01: I th I see with the battle cry, the prayer movement, as with this podcast, I always say that you know, we're turning pain into power and trauma into triumph.
- 17:25SPEAKER_01: This movement is doing exactly that, it's helping people literally convert the pain that they have into something more powerful, taking that trauma and the triumphing over it because um we get stuck in it and it just takes us out.
- 17:41SPEAKER_01: You know, it can take you out for a while.
- 17:44SPEAKER_01: And instead of that, you've done something remarkable.
- 17:47SPEAKER_01: You know, you got up and you said, Okay, I gotta dust myself off here.
- 17:50SPEAKER_01: It's not it doesn't feel good.
- 17:52SPEAKER_01: What can I do?
- 17:53SPEAKER_01: Um, I'm gonna help other people.
- 17:54SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna help other people that are going through what I'm going through.
- 17:58SPEAKER_01: And um I think that's a blessing, by the way.
- 18:01SPEAKER_01: And and and I totally admire you for doing that because I don't know myself if I could have done a movement like that, because I'm still stuck in the trench, I think, with it a little bit in that area.
- 18:11SPEAKER_01: I think that's still a stronghold that I I struggle with in that area of my life.
- 18:16SPEAKER_01: Um so as you're going through this movement and you're dealing with all of these people, um what where do you get this?
- 18:27SPEAKER_01: I mean, obviously you get your strength from God, but I'm sure that when you're hearing people's stories and you're you're listening to their situation, their circumstance, um, doesn't it just break your heart, make your heart hurt because you know you're struggling, you're feeling the same thing.
- 18:40SPEAKER_01: It's it's one thing like we can be relatable, but sometimes like um like I was mentioning when I was watching the show about Oprah and she's talking about estrangement, I couldn't watch it because it made my heart hurt really bad.
- 18:53SPEAKER_01: I had to turn it off.
- 18:54SPEAKER_01: And I was like, nope, can't watch this because it's gonna take me back, you know, into that depression and that anxiety state.
- 19:02SPEAKER_01: So how do you stay on top of that with this movement that you're doing?
- 19:06SPEAKER_00: It is very hard.
- 19:07SPEAKER_00: And we have moms that join every single day.
- 19:10SPEAKER_00: And every time I read their story and hear about their stories, it does, it just breaks your heart for the pain that people are feeling and going through.
- 19:18SPEAKER_00: But really, it helps propel me to keep going because I know at the beginning of my journey how lost I was and how alone I was, and how I felt like there was nobody that knew what I was going through.
- 19:30SPEAKER_00: I didn't know anybody going through anybody, anything like this.
- 19:33SPEAKER_00: And so I didn't have anywhere to turn and the church wasn't talking about it, and I just didn't have any help.
- 19:39SPEAKER_00: And so it just propels me to keep going.
- 19:41SPEAKER_00: And the beauty with our group is, you know, we we talk about it's like Moses and Aaron and her in the Old Testament.
- 19:49SPEAKER_00: When Moses would raise his arms when they were in a battle, you know, they were winning, but he would get tired and he'd put his arms down.
- 19:56SPEAKER_00: And that's when Aaron and her would come along beside him and they propped his arms up and they they sat and they held his arms up for him so they could win the battle.
- 20:04SPEAKER_00: And that is what I have done with Battle Cry.
- 20:07SPEAKER_00: It's moms coming together with me and other moms and supporting us in this journey.
- 20:12SPEAKER_00: And so on those days that I am weary and I don't think I can get out of bed, I know all I have to do is reach out.
- 20:19SPEAKER_00: And I've got moms that are going to lift me up and remind me of the victory that we have because of the blood of Jesus, and remind me that this fight is being fought right now with angel armies, just like Elisha in the Old Testament, when you know he prayed and asked God to show his servant the angel armies that were fighting behind the veil.
- 20:40SPEAKER_00: And and and the Lord granted that request, and the and the guy saw that the whole hilltops were all filled with the angel armies.
- 20:48SPEAKER_00: And so I know that there are there are angels right now fighting this battle for us.
- 20:53SPEAKER_00: And I need moms that are gonna come along beside me and remind me of that on those bad days when it is overwhelming.
- 21:01SPEAKER_00: But that's why we need each other.
- 21:03SPEAKER_00: We have to have people walking on this journey with us.
- 21:07SPEAKER_00: We cannot do it alone.
- 21:09SPEAKER_00: And I'm so thankful for the moms that are in our group that come along beside me.
- 21:14SPEAKER_01: That's really awesome.
- 21:15SPEAKER_01: I have a question to ask you.
- 21:17SPEAKER_01: Now, do you know, do you know where your child is?
- 21:20SPEAKER_01: Have you just not spoken or but do you know where they're at?
- 21:23SPEAKER_00: Or do you have no idea what that's I actually have a different situation from other people?
- 21:30SPEAKER_00: I actually do know where my child's at.
- 21:32SPEAKER_00: And we we actually have a pretty good relationship overall, and so we agree to disagree on on things.
- 21:40SPEAKER_00: Um, but we have a pretty good relationship.
- 21:43SPEAKER_00: And um I, you know, I love him.
- 21:45SPEAKER_00: He's my child, and I would do anything, anything for him, as I would do for any of my kids.
- 21:51SPEAKER_00: Um, but at the same time, you know, I've had to learn how to love in truth, and I and that means for me not ever compromising on.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: My values, on my biblical values that I try to live my life on.
- 22:04SPEAKER_00: I'm never going to compromise on those, but I'm going to live and love fiercely to support my child any way I can.
- 22:12SPEAKER_00: And so I've I've kind of got a little different situation than some people.
- 22:16SPEAKER_00: You know, we go through periods where it's it's a little rocky here and there.
- 22:20SPEAKER_00: Um, but I'm very proud of the work he does and uh and I'm proud of who he is.
- 22:24SPEAKER_00: He's a great person.
- 22:26SPEAKER_00: Um sometimes I forget that we're even walking through this because it's just kind of become like this is this is what's happening right now, and this is just part of his story.
- 22:36SPEAKER_00: Um and I try to I try to just keep my eyes on like the the future and the victory that is coming.
- 22:43SPEAKER_00: And I don't try to get caught up in the things I'm seeing right now that are in front of me.
- 22:48SPEAKER_00: I try to just keep my my eyes and focus on what is coming in the future, and that is victory through the blood of Jesus.
- 22:55SPEAKER_00: And I know it's coming and I'm I'm excited for it.
- 22:58SPEAKER_01: That's amazing.
- 22:59SPEAKER_01: Now I do have another question for you.
- 23:01SPEAKER_01: So being that you're doing the battle cry movement, is he aware of this movement?
- 23:06SPEAKER_01: He knows you're doing it.
- 23:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you know, people ask me that a lot.
- 23:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he obviously he knows I wrote a book.
- 23:14SPEAKER_00: Okay, yeah.
- 23:15SPEAKER_00: And um, and knows that I have a support group for moms.
- 23:19SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, and and I try to tell him a lot that the book was that I wrote was not about him.
- 23:26SPEAKER_00: It's not about anybody, it's about me.
- 23:28SPEAKER_00: That's who it's about.
- 23:29SPEAKER_00: And the book was all about my journey.
- 23:31SPEAKER_00: So he made an announcement, but it changed my life and it put me in a place to question everything that I knew to be true about the Lord.
- 23:40SPEAKER_00: And so the book is just my journey of what I had to overcome and my thought processes through different ideas and different things.
- 23:48SPEAKER_00: Um, and it was a, and then the last part of the book is about a battle plan.
- 23:51SPEAKER_00: It's how the Lord taught me how to pray for my kid.
- 23:55SPEAKER_00: And so the book is about maybe the situation that spurred on the movement, but it's not specifically about him or anybody else, it's about me and my faith and my journey and what the Lord has done in my heart since that announcement.
- 24:09SPEAKER_00: And so um I think he probably at times gets a little bit um cranky about the fact I I'm kind of leading this movement, um, you know, based on this.
- 24:21SPEAKER_00: Um, but you know, I I go back to I hope instead of anger someday, and it may not be today, it may be after I'm long gone, I hope that he and then all of our kids that are um kids of parents in our groups, um, they realize that love is worth fighting for.
- 24:39SPEAKER_00: And that is the title of the book, Love Goes to War.
- 24:42SPEAKER_00: And if your mom is not gonna fight for you and love you, who will?
- 24:47SPEAKER_00: And so I hope that he sees that I stopped at nothing to fight for him because I believe in him and I believe that he is a child of the king, and I believe that there's nothing that is gonna separate him from the love of God, and I'm gonna fight for that every single day.
- 25:04SPEAKER_00: And I keep my eyes on heaven.
- 25:06SPEAKER_00: We have had to forego things on this earth, many of us moms of prodigals.
- 25:11SPEAKER_00: We may not have Christmas dinner, we may not have Fourth of July picnics, we don't get the family gatherings that other people get, but there's only one meal that I care about, and that is the marriage supper of the Lamb.
- 25:23SPEAKER_00: And that is gonna happen in heaven one day, and that is the only table that I want my kids around.
- 25:28SPEAKER_00: And I am gonna work every single day to trust and believe that my kids are gonna be there.
- 25:34SPEAKER_01: That's interesting because I was just gonna ask you if you guys had, you know, like Thanksgiving and stuff together, and if you guys met up or hung out or any of that.
- 25:43SPEAKER_01: What what um, as far as your your whole family goes, um, does it seem like it feels like so?
- 25:51SPEAKER_01: I I've I always tried to be a parent where I didn't try to um have a favorite because I always told my kids, my girls used to fight and be like, Oh, your mom's favorite.
- 26:00SPEAKER_01: And they used to say that about my son, because my son was the baby, and they'd say, You're the your mom's favorite, you're the favorite.
- 26:05SPEAKER_01: And I go, No, he's the youngest.
- 26:06SPEAKER_01: He's not the favorite, he's the youngest, you know.
- 26:08SPEAKER_01: And they're like, Yeah, but he gets away with everything or whatever, you know.
- 26:12SPEAKER_01: And and I used to tell them, I love you all individually and separately, but all the same.
- 26:18SPEAKER_01: Because I don't ever want them to think there's a competition uh from my love to them, you know.
- 26:23SPEAKER_01: Now, do I teach them and raise them a little differently?
- 26:26SPEAKER_01: Yes, because they're different.
- 26:27SPEAKER_01: Their handbook, if they were to come with uh one at birth, would not be the same handbook.
- 26:32SPEAKER_01: And I've tried to you know explain that to them.
- 26:34SPEAKER_01: And and even though I I have a um I have a really good relationship with my girls, and um, you know, we get along really, really, really well.
- 26:43SPEAKER_01: And um my son always was the one that the girls would be like, oh, he's so spoilt.
- 26:50SPEAKER_01: He's so this, he's so that, you know.
- 26:53SPEAKER_01: And I just wonder what what effect does it have on on your other kids?
- 26:56SPEAKER_01: Do you feel like do they ever question, do you feel like they question that maybe?
- 27:01SPEAKER_00: You know, all of my kids are adults and they were all adults when this announcement happened.
- 27:06SPEAKER_00: And so I think if if they were maybe younger, we might be fighting some different battles.
- 27:11SPEAKER_00: But right now they're all adults, and they all kind of, I'm gonna say, took a different side of the issue when when my kid came out.
- 27:20SPEAKER_00: And so everybody kind of has their own opinion of of the situation.
- 27:25SPEAKER_00: And because of that, we have a lot of conflict um in our family and and nobody talks.
- 27:30SPEAKER_00: We used to be very close.
- 27:31SPEAKER_00: Now, you know, we don't nobody talks to anybody anymore.
- 27:34SPEAKER_00: And it's it's a very hard journey to be on.
- 27:37SPEAKER_00: And that's one of the biggest losses, really, I think that we've had, and many other people have, is that loss of closeness and that loss of community that I thought we would have that we planned on.
- 27:49SPEAKER_00: You know, we all planned on things.
- 27:51SPEAKER_00: We planned on big Christmas dinners, we planned on vacations together, we planned on, you know, trips around the world with the grandkids.
- 27:58SPEAKER_00: We we planned on all of these things.
- 28:01SPEAKER_00: And then our journey has taken a detour, and now we're not going to be doing those things.
- 28:05SPEAKER_00: And so then you're left with just trying to figure out and just try to make peace with, okay, Lord, this is the journey we're on.
- 28:11SPEAKER_00: So where can I find the hope and the joy where I'm at?
- 28:15SPEAKER_00: And and so I try to focus on each child and my relationship, which is different, like you said, with each child.
- 28:22SPEAKER_00: And maybe they don't, the other two don't even understand what I'm doing, and that's okay.
- 28:29SPEAKER_00: But again, at the end of the day, I hope all of them, you know, can lay in bed at night and be like, you know what, mom has refused, refused the lie of the enemy.
- 28:40SPEAKER_00: And that's what we have to do.
- 28:42SPEAKER_00: You know, it says in the Bible, there's a story about Rachel, and it says she was weeping for her children.
- 28:47SPEAKER_00: And and if you kind of get into that, it is about it, you know, it talks about it in the in the nativity story.
- 28:54SPEAKER_00: And it you flash back to the Old Testament where it's actually at, it's kind of symbolic because when the Israelites were getting ready to be um taken out of their country and going into exile, they kind of symbolically had gone by the grave of Rachel, the mother of the faith.
- 29:09SPEAKER_00: And it was a symbolic thing of her weeping for her children, weeping for a nation.
- 29:14SPEAKER_00: It was her hopes and her dreams had been just tossed aside and everything she had planned on for the for her generations after her out the window because they were going into captivity.
- 29:25SPEAKER_00: And so it says Rachel was weeping for her children and she refused to be comforted.
- 29:30SPEAKER_00: And that's where we have to get as parents today.
- 29:33SPEAKER_00: We have to refuse the lie of the enemy, we have to refuse the comfort that the world offers us and say, no, I am gonna fight, I'm gonna stand up for what's right, and I'm gonna believe for my child.
- 29:44SPEAKER_00: And if that means I have to forego an earthly relationship for now, then so be it.
- 29:49SPEAKER_00: That's what I have to do.
- 29:50SPEAKER_00: Because again, I'm not worried about what's happening on this earth.
- 29:53SPEAKER_00: I'm worried about getting my child to heaven in eternity.
- 29:56SPEAKER_00: And that is where I'm going to focus all of my energy.
- 30:00SPEAKER_00: And I hope all of my kids realize that this is a fight and that I have stopped at nothing to make sure all of my children are going to be in heaven one day.
- 30:09SPEAKER_01: Wow, that really that that hits home for me because um I know that I've I've when I was going through the pain that I was going through, I'm thankful that my old my oldest daughter, especially, um, because we live we live together, um she watched me go through the pain, you know, and she said that her watching me hurt was reckoning for her just to watch me in pain as a mother, you know, and she's a mother too, she has three boys, and she's like, Man, oh man, I couldn't even imagine if one of my kids did this to me, what what it would do to me, you know, and it brought a a a different type of closeness that we never had before.
- 30:50SPEAKER_01: Like you said, that detour takes you in different avenues and stuff.
- 30:53SPEAKER_01: Um, we don't always agree on everything, you know, as far as lifestyle and all of that and whatnot, but we do have a closeness together where um now she makes it a point that we spend time together as family.
- 31:06SPEAKER_01: We we do get together for vacations, we do get together for Thanksgiving and and um we we are all included, you know, even though her and her sister don't always get along, they were still at the table for Thanksgiving, you know, one at one end and one at the other, but you know, they were willing for me.
- 31:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they're and I was so thankful, and I was just like, whatever you guys do, just get along for the hour that we're gonna sit down and stuff our face, okay?
- 31:29SPEAKER_01: And and they would do that.
- 31:31SPEAKER_01: They would sacrifice for me because they watched what I sacrificed and the pain that they seen go that I go through, you know, that I went through.
- 31:38SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 31:38SPEAKER_01: And that that kind of it sounds kind of weird to say this, but that was kind of a good thing that they saw that because they um endured what I was, you know, triumphing and it made our relationship closer.
- 31:54SPEAKER_01: Now I know for some people that may not, you know, like in your situation, may not be the same, you know, same case, but I feel like people have um a choice to make, you know, like can we figure it out and get along together, or are we just gonna let it keep dividing us?
- 32:10SPEAKER_01: And the enemy wants us all divided, right?
- 32:12SPEAKER_01: All the way to the end.
- 32:13SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and he clearly is like that that is his goal in life.
- 32:16SPEAKER_01: He he's destructive, he wants to come steal, kill, and destroy it, the word says, and um he's ready to take us all out.
- 32:24SPEAKER_01: And if he can put that wedge anywhere in our lives, he's gonna do it.
- 32:27SPEAKER_00: He's gonna do it.
- 32:28SPEAKER_01: And so I think as Christians being strong in in faith, you know, it helps hold us up, you know.
- 32:34SPEAKER_01: Like you said, you know, with Moses having his arms held up, that's God.
- 32:38SPEAKER_01: God's gonna hold us up.
- 32:40SPEAKER_01: And the more we lean on him, the more he holds us up, even even though it does hurt.
- 32:44SPEAKER_01: But the word doesn't say the trials and tribulations aren't gonna come, it says they are gonna come.
- 32:49SPEAKER_01: And it says he's gonna be the strength in it.
- 32:51SPEAKER_01: And it's funny because people were like, Oh, no, he's not gonna give us more than we can handle.
- 32:55SPEAKER_01: Yes, he is, but he's gonna be a little bit of a lie.
- 32:57SPEAKER_01: But yeah, I'm like, that that's the enemy.
- 33:00SPEAKER_01: You know, that's the enemy's been a lie that people fall into a step away from that lie, you know.
- 33:07SPEAKER_00: It is.
- 33:07SPEAKER_00: We're really bad about I I feel like when people, you know, get saved and and make these decisions for Christ.
- 33:14SPEAKER_00: I I kind of feel like we need to start pulling people aside and being like, okay, you do know that your life's getting ready to change for the better, but yet do you do know like the attacks will start to come?
- 33:25SPEAKER_00: Because I don't think we prepare people for, we just think it's these, it's the unicorns and rainbows again.
- 33:30SPEAKER_00: You know, it's like, oh, we're gonna get saved and it's gonna be all jolly and it's gonna be great.
- 33:35SPEAKER_00: But the attacks come.
- 33:36SPEAKER_00: If you're on Satan's radar, you're gonna have some attacks.
- 33:39SPEAKER_00: And we need to do better about walking with people.
- 33:42SPEAKER_00: But like you said, it says in in the word, in this world you will have trouble, but take heart.
- 33:47SPEAKER_00: I have overcome the world.
- 33:48SPEAKER_00: And so be prepared, you know, to stand in victory when trials come, knowing that the Lord is fighting for you.
- 33:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I had a pal, I remember a pastor preaching on the fiery darts, you know, that when you get saved, the fiery darts are gonna be coming.
- 34:02SPEAKER_01: So you need to have your armor, you had to be armored up, you know.
- 34:05SPEAKER_01: And I loved that analogy because we think, oh, we're gonna get saved, and you know, we get Jesus is saving us, you know.
- 34:11SPEAKER_01: We think we're saving.
- 34:12SPEAKER_01: Here comes the cherries.
- 34:13SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 34:14SPEAKER_01: It's like be careful, be careful when you walk away from this, because you know, you know, this is what's gonna happen.
- 34:19SPEAKER_01: And and I hear I had someone else tell me that, um, which I thought was really helpful for me.
- 34:24SPEAKER_01: They said, you know, the the more the enemy's after you, the more you the more righteous you're becoming with God, because he's trying to get you away from that.
- 34:32SPEAKER_01: And you're he you must be doing a good job for the enemy to keep coming after you, you know.
- 34:36SPEAKER_01: So I thought, okay, that's kind of a it's a good thing, but it's not wanted, you know.
- 34:42SPEAKER_01: Definitely not a desire I want from my life.
- 34:43SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 34:45SPEAKER_01: But I have a question for you.
- 34:47SPEAKER_01: So when you heard about this, you said it took you about two years before you you got the movement going.
- 34:54SPEAKER_01: Was that the turn like that was the turning point for you?
- 34:57SPEAKER_01: Is that correct?
- 34:58SPEAKER_01: And you decided, hey, I'm gonna I'm gonna do something about this.
- 35:00SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna step out, I'm gonna reach out and develop this whole movement.
- 35:05SPEAKER_00: There were several um kind of things that led up to me actually starting it.
- 35:12SPEAKER_00: I knew that it was something I was going to do.
- 35:14SPEAKER_00: I knew that I was called to write a book, I knew that I was I needed to start a support group.
- 35:19SPEAKER_00: Um, I knew there were some things I was going to be doing, but it was actually with that yes of when it was going to happen.
- 35:25SPEAKER_00: And there were a couple of different scenarios I talk about in my book that happened that led me to the Lord saying, it's time to do that.
- 35:32SPEAKER_00: And one of them was a I was at a Bible study with some women, and I love these women.
- 35:37SPEAKER_00: And and I had went to the study for a long time, but I never really shared about my story and and my family.
- 35:44SPEAKER_00: And that particular night, um, the conversation had went to LGBTQ um kind of conversation.
- 35:53SPEAKER_00: And the, you know, there were some things said in in the Bible study by women that, you know, well, we send our kids to Christian school because we don't want our kids around those kids.
- 36:03SPEAKER_00: And there was something about the term those kids that broke me, like broke me just right there on the spot.
- 36:10SPEAKER_00: I remember I went to the bathroom and was like just bawling, like I it's time.
- 36:15SPEAKER_00: The Lord's like, it is time you stood up and you spoke truth to these people about who, you know, who our kids are and what we can do to love them and and not condemn them to hell, but like prophesy to their future of who they should be.
- 36:31SPEAKER_00: And it was in that moment that I knew it was time to start.
- 36:34SPEAKER_00: I had, I couldn't hide any longer.
- 36:36SPEAKER_00: I knew that the Lord wanted to do something special, and I knew he could either use me or I could say no and he would find somebody else.
- 36:43SPEAKER_00: But it was time to get this movement started, and it was time to start supporting parents everywhere that are going through hard things because the church nobody knows how to how to react, nobody knows what to say, nobody knows what to do.
- 36:56SPEAKER_00: And I knew it was time that for me to stand up and be the voice, and God was going to use me.
- 37:00SPEAKER_00: And so it took several years to get to that point.
- 37:03SPEAKER_00: But when I said yes, things happened very quickly.
- 37:06SPEAKER_00: I I got a contract from my book.
- 37:08SPEAKER_00: Um, a publisher said yes, and I started the website and it started to grow.
- 37:14SPEAKER_00: And here we are four, four and a half years later, and it's only God that has grown it and done what only He can do.
- 37:22SPEAKER_00: And we're never about numbers in my group.
- 37:24SPEAKER_00: You have to answer five questions to get in when you ask to join.
- 37:28SPEAKER_00: And it's based on how you answer those, whether I say yes or no.
- 37:32SPEAKER_00: And so it's never going to be about numbers with us, it's about people and their stories and ones that want to come in and fight and believe that their kids are coming home.
- 37:41SPEAKER_00: And so we keep it private.
- 37:42SPEAKER_00: It's very private group, and it's a beautiful, beautiful space of love and hope and joy.
- 37:49SPEAKER_00: And I just don't even know what I would do without it.
- 37:51SPEAKER_00: I'm so thankful that God has allowed us to walk through this and allowed me to make these connections with women and hear stories that I would never have heard.
- 38:01SPEAKER_00: I would never have paid attention to, I never would have even blinked at some of these things.
- 38:06SPEAKER_00: But now I'm in the in the whole mess of it and I'm thankful that this is where God has me.
- 38:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's oh gosh, just I got chills just listening to you talk about that.
- 38:17SPEAKER_01: Um, I heard this pastor one time say something, and I I want to get your thoughts on it actually.
- 38:22SPEAKER_01: He said, You need to pray that your child has such an encounter with the enemy that he's crying out for God.
- 38:29SPEAKER_01: And I thought, man, I don't know if I can pray for something like that because I already feel like, you know, feel like sometimes we've already had that encounter, and that's why we're Christians, you know, for us Christians.
- 38:39SPEAKER_01: But I think like um for for our loved ones that we know that are lost, haven't quite found their way yet, that they're just still trying to find who they are in Christ, their identity.
- 38:49SPEAKER_01: Because God created us, He created us masterful and wonderful.
- 38:52SPEAKER_01: We all have we all have such amazing gifts on our life, and we don't even know it, some of us, you know.
- 38:59SPEAKER_01: And um when he was preaching this, that pray that your loved one that is lost and going to hell has such an encounter with the enemy that they have nowhere else to turn but to God.
- 39:10SPEAKER_01: And at first I thought, man, that's pretty harsh.
- 39:13SPEAKER_01: I'm not doing that.
- 39:14SPEAKER_01: That is horrible.
- 39:15SPEAKER_01: That like it made my heart sink.
- 39:17SPEAKER_01: And then I thought to myself, you know what, it's it's actually kind of freeing to think it because you kind of you do want them to have the aha moment where they go, I really need God.
- 39:28SPEAKER_01: This is not good for me.
- 39:30SPEAKER_01: This is not the right direction.
- 39:32SPEAKER_01: They need to have that encounter that we have when we experience Jesus dying on the cross for our sins.
- 39:39SPEAKER_01: And I thought, man, I had to pray, I had to pray about it.
- 39:42SPEAKER_01: I had to meditate on that because it it struck me, you know, kind of like what you were saying, and you know, when they say those kids, I I don't like those kind of terms with people like, you know, well, them or you know, over there or different people like people do that, you know, when it comes to racism, they do that with just differences of opinions.
- 40:00SPEAKER_01: Um it could be something just so minute and so ridiculous.
- 40:03SPEAKER_01: And it's like you can't separate people based on those types of things.
- 40:08SPEAKER_01: They're still people, God loves them regardless as to what we think about them.
- 40:12SPEAKER_01: Our opinion doesn't matter.
- 40:14SPEAKER_01: And you know, we get so fixated on that.
- 40:16SPEAKER_01: And so I love that you you brought that out because and that you're talking about that, because I really feel with my 16-year-old daughter, she has a whole group of people.
- 40:25SPEAKER_01: Um, she's got transgendered, she's got, you know, um girls dating girls, and you know, I mean, it's just a whole whole mix of a group, right?
- 40:33SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 40:34SPEAKER_01: And she wanted to have a sleepover birthday party, and I thought, well, normally when I with my girls when they were younger, um they couldn't have boys over, you know, for obvious reasons, right?
- 40:45SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 40:45SPEAKER_01: But now it's like, now what do I do with with the girls?
- 40:49SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 40:49SPEAKER_01: And I was kind of like, and I was like, oh, I had to have a talk with her because as a Christian, I'm like, you know, the rules still stay the same, you know, whether it's a boy or a girl.
- 40:58SPEAKER_01: And I didn't want to say no to her friends that were girls, even though she's not that way, but they're that way.
- 41:04SPEAKER_01: And she's like, but it's not me, it's them.
- 41:05SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, I know, but I disagree with you know that that type of um lifestyle.
- 41:11SPEAKER_01: It's not it's not appropriate, you know, to the word of God.
- 41:14SPEAKER_01: And so we ended up having them over.
- 41:16SPEAKER_01: We had a big sleepover, but we got to discuss some of it.
- 41:19SPEAKER_01: They got to open they openly discussed some of it with me, and I got to hear some of their thoughts because they're great kids.
- 41:25SPEAKER_01: They're wonderful kids.
- 41:26SPEAKER_01: I had so much fun with them.
- 41:29SPEAKER_01: And um, of course, I had the rules set from the minute they walked in my door to the minute they walked out, you know, and so I d I bent the rules to accommodate this generation, this era.
- 41:40SPEAKER_01: And I thought, man, was that the wrong thing to do?
- 41:44SPEAKER_01: But I I knew in my heart it was gonna be okay, you know, because I know where my daughter stands.
- 41:49SPEAKER_01: I know that these are just her friends and she likes she loves them, she cares about them.
- 41:53SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, well, I need to love and care about them too.
- 41:56SPEAKER_01: You know, she she does.
- 41:58SPEAKER_01: I need to respect her, I need to trust her, okay?
- 42:01SPEAKER_01: And and I did, and and um it worked out really good, and we got to converse about it and stuff, but we didn't get too in-depth with it because I didn't want kids running out and running to their parents and being like, oh, she's a Christian and she said, you know, la.
- 42:14SPEAKER_01: So I was like, okay, I just gotta, you know, be mindful um and just pour out love on them.
- 42:19SPEAKER_01: And sometimes the love is what they need.
- 42:22SPEAKER_01: Not that we don't love our kids, um, because you know, we have to be obedient, we have to follow the word of God.
- 42:28SPEAKER_01: You know, there is some strictness.
- 42:29SPEAKER_01: You know, it says in the Bible, you know, um uh train up a child in the way they should go and they will not depart from it.
- 42:35SPEAKER_01: And I always thought to myself, did I miss part of that training somewhere along the way?
- 42:40SPEAKER_01: I think I left something out.
- 42:43SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you know, I wrote about that verse in my book, and and again, everybody should read it because even if you're not going through this, I guarantee you you know someone is.
- 42:53SPEAKER_00: But you know, we kind of take that verse sometimes.
- 42:55SPEAKER_00: We don't really understand really what it means because we think it's a well, I met and messed up, but no matter what, my kid's coming back, you know.
- 43:02SPEAKER_00: And and that's not really exactly what it means.
- 43:05SPEAKER_00: It means, you know, that we are trusting God, that it's him, that we've raised them up, but it's him.
- 43:11SPEAKER_00: He it's the promise isn't that they're gonna come back 100%.
- 43:15SPEAKER_00: The promise is that he's never gonna stop pursuing them and loving them.
- 43:20SPEAKER_00: He's never gonna stop.
- 43:21SPEAKER_00: We don't ever have to question whether he's he's done with them, if he's written them off, because if we have dedicated it, our kids to him, if we know that they are his, he's never going to stop pursuing them.
- 43:33SPEAKER_00: And that's the promise.
- 43:34SPEAKER_00: And we can we can bank on it, we can we can just know that it's gonna happen and that we believe that he will get through whatever it takes.
- 43:43SPEAKER_00: And those are the kinds of prayers that we pray in my group.
- 43:46SPEAKER_00: We pray, literally pray, Lord, whatever it takes.
- 43:49SPEAKER_00: If that means there's a coma for six months, you know, if that means, you know, whatever it and those are hard things as a mom because you don't want your kid hurt, you don't want To see them hungry, you don't want to see them, you know, whatever.
- 44:03SPEAKER_00: But sometimes you have to take your hands off and say, Lord, whatever it takes, you know, to break them so they see you.
- 44:11SPEAKER_00: That's what I want for my child.
- 44:13SPEAKER_01: Amen.
- 44:14SPEAKER_01: That's really good.
- 44:14SPEAKER_01: That's a really good word.
- 44:16SPEAKER_01: I I can relate with that because when I think about the scripture, that exact scripture actually, and the way you're you're talking about it, and we we talk about training up our kids.
- 44:26SPEAKER_01: I think a lot of times we think, oh, well, you know, give them a good spanking or put them in time out, or that's not the correction God's talking about.
- 44:33SPEAKER_01: I I agree with what you're saying.
- 44:35SPEAKER_01: That it's so much more than that, so much deeper.
- 44:38SPEAKER_01: And and and we're missing, I think sometimes we miss that that in that scripture because we think, you know, we didn't, you know, maybe not disciplined enough or whatever, but um giving your child over to God is part of that training.
- 44:51SPEAKER_01: I think it's part of that discipline for ourselves.
- 44:54SPEAKER_01: And I I'm trying to think of where the scripture is where it talks, it says that our kids are not ours, they're God's.
- 45:01SPEAKER_01: You know, they're basically loaned to us, you know, they're a gift to us, but they're his kids, just like we're his kids, you know.
- 45:08SPEAKER_01: And um, we have to we literally have to untie it and just unleash them and just let it go and and and still pray for them and want nothing but the best for them and still show them love and and and kindness and respect.
- 45:22SPEAKER_01: But um, I know it's it's it's gotta be tough, especially when like your kids estranged or your kids take and you're watching them go the wrong way.
- 45:33SPEAKER_01: You know, you kind of want to just drive out in front of them and be the roadblock.
- 45:37SPEAKER_01: No, go this way, go that way.
- 45:40SPEAKER_01: I swear I feel that way on so many.
- 45:42SPEAKER_01: You're smarter than that.
- 45:43SPEAKER_01: Get ahead of it.
- 45:44SPEAKER_00: Uh-huh.
- 45:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 45:45SPEAKER_00: I say that a lot.
- 45:46SPEAKER_00: I'm just like, you're smarter than that.
- 45:48SPEAKER_00: I know you're smarter than that.
- 45:50SPEAKER_00: You know, how could you have fallen for something?
- 45:52SPEAKER_00: You know, it's it's frustrating because you know that, you know, what your kids are capable of and you know what God has for them.
- 45:59SPEAKER_00: And it's just, it's hard to watch them make those choices, go in the opposite direction.
- 46:04SPEAKER_00: And it's you just sometimes you just shake your head and go, okay, God, I have to trust you that you've got this because there's nothing I can say.
- 46:12SPEAKER_00: If there was something I could say, if there's something I could buy, if there was a place I could go, I would have already done it.
- 46:18SPEAKER_00: I would have already done, I would have sold everything I own to fix this already.
- 46:23SPEAKER_00: But it's not.
- 46:24SPEAKER_00: All I can do is wait and trust in God and know that He has it and that someday I'm gonna see redemption.
- 46:33SPEAKER_00: And I pray that I see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
- 46:37SPEAKER_00: But if it's not, I know that my prayers are going up before the Lord, like in Revelation, where it says that they go in a bowl and they just come up as a fragrance before the Lord.
- 46:46SPEAKER_00: I know that the prayers that we are praying right now are never going to go away.
- 46:51SPEAKER_00: They're going to be for eternity, and we're gonna just keep believing that one day God is going to say, Oh, that that kid, it's it's today's the day.
- 47:01SPEAKER_00: Today's the day that his eyes are gonna be open, the scales are gonna fall off, and he is gonna see me for the first time.
- 47:08SPEAKER_00: I am gonna call his name, and I pray that often that he just calls his name and he knows it.
- 47:15SPEAKER_00: He hears it not with his ears, he hears it with his heart.
- 47:18SPEAKER_00: And I pray that for all of our kids.
- 47:21SPEAKER_01: Amen.
- 47:21SPEAKER_01: That's so that is so strong.
- 47:23SPEAKER_01: It just, oh my gosh, it's just there's so much power in that and believing it.
- 47:27SPEAKER_01: I I think to myself, sometimes um when I'm praying to God that I want collaboration, like what you said, you know, if we could just be like, hey, God, can we um can we talk about this?
- 47:37SPEAKER_01: Can we work this out?
- 47:38SPEAKER_01: I remember in the beginning I used to try to collaborate with God, and I thought he's probably up there just shaking his head, like, what are you thinking down there?
- 47:45SPEAKER_01: You know, what are you doing?
- 47:46SPEAKER_01: You know, like I'm like, I want to collaborate with you.
- 47:49SPEAKER_01: I got, you know, I have all these ideas, like you said, I have all these ideas.
- 47:52SPEAKER_01: You know, I should try this, or I'm gonna go do this.
- 47:54SPEAKER_01: And I actually um hired a search party for my son once because I I wanted to know where he was.
- 48:00SPEAKER_01: And they literally said, Isn't your son an adult?
- 48:03SPEAKER_01: And I was like, So what?
- 48:05SPEAKER_01: I want to know he's okay, you know, and they were like, Yeah, no, you need to just let him be an adult.
- 48:10SPEAKER_01: It's okay if they're not at home, you know.
- 48:12SPEAKER_01: And I was like, Oh gosh, it was really hard to loosen those reins up, you know.
- 48:18SPEAKER_01: And especially because it happened so instantly, where he just one day just decided, you know, I was just gonna be estranged with everybody I know and our whole entire family and friends and all, you know, and yeah, and um, even my my my best friend, his son was my son's best friend, and he married my my son's cousin, and and you know, like he missed out on the wedding and all of these things, all these events that people try to invite him to that he, you know, he had nothing to do with.
- 48:44SPEAKER_01: And he just decided he's just gonna go literally his own way.
- 48:49SPEAKER_01: And I think sometimes we do that.
- 48:50SPEAKER_01: We we stray.
- 48:52SPEAKER_01: That's you know what the prodigal son does.
- 48:54SPEAKER_01: You know, they just literally go their own direction until God turns them around.
- 48:58SPEAKER_01: You know, that that one sheep, that one of the 99, Jesus finds them.
- 49:03SPEAKER_01: And I'm so thankful for that, and I hold on to that.
- 49:05SPEAKER_00: Amen.
- 49:06SPEAKER_00: Amen.
- 49:06SPEAKER_00: And the prodigal son, you know, it took him living with the pigs in the pig pan.
- 49:11SPEAKER_00: And he got tired of his filth, he got tired of the filth, and he had a hunger.
- 49:17SPEAKER_00: And I know that that hunger, you know, wasn't just his stomach rumbling, that hunger was to go home to his father.
- 49:23SPEAKER_00: And we pray for that hunger to awaken in our children every single day.
- 49:27SPEAKER_00: I pray that.
- 49:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's good stuff.
- 49:29SPEAKER_01: And man, if they if they only knew the story and what how how how amazing and beautiful the return is on that story, but the father just running to him and clothing and shoes and it and even gives him the ring, his his ring, you know.
- 49:42SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and it it's just so uh you just kind of want to, like I said, like go and put that roadblock before him be like, Here, read this story so you know what happens next, you know.
- 49:52SPEAKER_01: So we know it's coming.
- 49:53SPEAKER_01: But with that being said, so um, before I wrap up today, I wanted to ask you um if you can just give our listeners some advice on when they're when when they're they're struck with an encounter like this, and we know sometimes it's like well, for myself and you, it's just it was just a complete shocker.
- 50:12SPEAKER_01: You you don't you have to kind of just sit back and go, what do I do with this?
- 50:16SPEAKER_01: Um what advice could you give to our listeners that are encountered with one of their children just deciding I I no longer want to be your child, I I I have a different lifestyle than you, I you know, you're a Christian, I'm not.
- 50:34SPEAKER_01: Um I you know, I want to be estranged.
- 50:37SPEAKER_01: What advice do you do you think you could give them?
- 50:40SPEAKER_01: I mean, we definitely know that there's hope, we and hope and trust in God, but what what would you say to someone in that in that way?
- 50:48SPEAKER_00: I would say right now that I I want you to hear me when I say you're not alone.
- 50:54SPEAKER_00: And so don't listen to Satan whispering in your ear that says that you're alone.
- 50:58SPEAKER_00: It says in Revelation that you'll overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of your testimony.
- 51:03SPEAKER_00: Tell somebody you need people in your corner praying with you.
- 51:07SPEAKER_00: You need your, I call them mat carriers.
- 51:09SPEAKER_00: They are the people that are gonna go to the roof and tear it off and stop at nothing to get your child before the Lord.
- 51:15SPEAKER_00: Find your tribe, find your people, find your mat carriers and get your child before the Lord.
- 51:20SPEAKER_00: But you have to decide.
- 51:21SPEAKER_00: You know, it says, um, you know, in if you talk about the armor of God, we talked a little bit about that.
- 51:27SPEAKER_00: It says to put on all of the armor, and then it says to stand.
- 51:31SPEAKER_00: You stand and put on your armor, you do all this.
- 51:33SPEAKER_00: The first stand, there's two stands in that verse.
- 51:35SPEAKER_00: The first stand is in action.
- 51:38SPEAKER_00: There's an action behind it.
- 51:39SPEAKER_00: You have to ready yourself and make sure you are where you're supposed to be every single day with the Lord to walk with him.
- 51:46SPEAKER_00: And the second stand, and then it says, but stand, but then stand.
- 51:50SPEAKER_00: And the second stand is in faith.
- 51:52SPEAKER_00: When you have readied yourself and you are ready for war, you can stand and know that the Lord is fighting this battle and that you can stand in faith knowing that he is going to have the victory.
- 52:04SPEAKER_00: And so please know that you're not alone.
- 52:07SPEAKER_00: And there is nothing you can do.
- 52:09SPEAKER_00: You cannot hate your child enough to get him to heaven.
- 52:12SPEAKER_00: You can't.
- 52:12SPEAKER_00: There's nothing you can do, but refuse to let him straight to hell.
- 52:16SPEAKER_00: You have to learn to love him in the truth.
- 52:18SPEAKER_00: Outlive all your kids in the truth.
- 52:22SPEAKER_00: And never compromise, never once compromising on the word of God and what he says.
- 52:28SPEAKER_00: And so stand in truth and just watch the Lord fight this battle and see what he's gonna do.
- 52:34SPEAKER_01: That's so good.
- 52:35SPEAKER_01: I I just had a scripture that I that came to me real quick that I wanted to share with you.
- 52:39SPEAKER_01: That um in the beginning you started talking about um the foundation, you know, building your house on the rock or building your house on the sand.
- 52:47SPEAKER_01: And um, I just had an episode where we actually just talked about the scripture, and it's 2 Timothy 2.19.
- 52:53SPEAKER_01: It says, Nevertheless, the foundation of God standeth sure, having his seal, the Lord knoweth them that are his, and let everyone that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
- 53:04SPEAKER_01: And I love that because our foundation is with Christ and in Christ.
- 53:09SPEAKER_01: And if we remember that, like if we don't know where to go, go back to the foundation.
- 53:14SPEAKER_01: You know, I always tell people, like, if you if you're if you're not sure what to do next, start at the foundation.
- 53:21SPEAKER_01: Go right there.
- 53:22SPEAKER_01: God is already there, He's already learned the foundation.
- 53:25SPEAKER_01: Sure, as sure it can be.
- 53:26SPEAKER_01: It's never gonna change.
- 53:27SPEAKER_01: He doesn't alter, he doesn't tilt, he doesn't waver ever.
- 53:32SPEAKER_01: That foundation is the best starting point for people that are faced with something head on.
- 53:38SPEAKER_01: And and I know that, you know, these trials and tribulations, they're gonna come and they're gonna keep coming, and they're gonna keep coming.
- 53:44SPEAKER_01: And until Jesus comes back, which hopefully is soon, um, these trials and tribulations are good, yeah, really soon.
- 53:52SPEAKER_01: Talking about those end times, we've been doing that lately.
- 53:55SPEAKER_01: Um, yes, definitely need to be prepared, you know, in and out of season.
- 53:58SPEAKER_01: But, you know, if you're not sure, you know, especially for our listening audience today, that if you're not sure and you're you're you're up against the wall with this, go to the foundation.
- 54:06SPEAKER_01: God is that foundation, he's gonna guide you.
- 54:09SPEAKER_01: And I believe, you know, there's so much power in prayer.
- 54:11SPEAKER_01: Just, you know, like that's why I love that this is a prayer movement, because we I think we miss out on the opportunity because we forget how much power there is in prayer, and we don't speak it as often as we should because we're forgetting that there is power behind it.
- 54:27SPEAKER_01: And all we have to do is claim it.
- 54:30SPEAKER_01: We need to claim what Jesus says.
- 54:32SPEAKER_01: Jesus gave the disciples and the believers the authority, you know, to tread on the the the serpent and the scorpions, you know.
- 54:40SPEAKER_01: He said, You can go do this.
- 54:42SPEAKER_01: You know, you can you can just smash them.
- 54:44SPEAKER_01: I'm giving you all of this authority, but we don't do it.
- 54:47SPEAKER_01: We will tremble in fear, we will step back, we will withhold because we forget, you know, how much power God has actually given us.
- 54:55SPEAKER_01: And that's counting on each other.
- 54:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 54:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, for each other and for our children.
- 55:00SPEAKER_01: And I I I think that's amazing what you're doing.
- 55:03SPEAKER_01: I I love what you're doing.
- 55:04SPEAKER_01: I've already went in, I already went in and signed up and subscribed and sent you my email and all of that.
- 55:11SPEAKER_01: So um now with this movement, I do have a question for you.
- 55:14SPEAKER_01: You said people are coming together.
- 55:16SPEAKER_01: Now, is this something that you guys meet with uh every week, or do you guys um just have talks or you just read a blog?
- 55:23SPEAKER_01: Or can you tell us a little bit more about the actual movement itself so our listeners know what to do and how to go go through the process?
- 55:31SPEAKER_00: Yes, and so you can go, um you can link it from my personal website, or you can just go to www.battlecry moms.com.
- 55:41SPEAKER_00: And from there, there's a splash screen.
- 55:43SPEAKER_00: It's gonna ask you five questions.
- 55:44SPEAKER_00: And so inside it operates, it operates kind of like a Facebook inside.
- 55:49SPEAKER_00: It's its own like special place.
- 55:52SPEAKER_00: It's it's a private community, it has nothing to do with any of the major social media networks.
- 55:56SPEAKER_00: I built my own network for this private community, and so um it operates just like like your social media networks would.
- 56:04SPEAKER_00: There's a main page where people can post and people put songs and sermons and verses and whatever is touching them for the day.
- 56:11SPEAKER_00: We share with each other.
- 56:12SPEAKER_00: But then the beauty is there are small groups.
- 56:15SPEAKER_00: You know, you can join a small group, and that's a place where you can find a mom that's going through the exact same situation you are.
- 56:21SPEAKER_00: Maybe you're estranged, maybe you have an LGBTQ kid, whatever it is, there's a group for you.
- 56:27SPEAKER_00: And so inside the main group, there are subgroups, and we also do Bible study, we also do Zoom prayer once a week.
- 56:33SPEAKER_00: There's all kinds of activity going on all the time in Battle Crime Moms.
- 56:38SPEAKER_00: And we would love to have anybody that feels alone in this journey to join us.
- 56:43SPEAKER_00: We would love to have you.
- 56:44SPEAKER_01: Well, thank you so much for sharing all of that.
- 56:46SPEAKER_01: And definitely um, for our listeners that are watching, you can find it in the show notes.
- 56:51SPEAKER_01: I put all of I'll put all of your information in there so they know how to get a hold of you or reach you or sign up for that um that prayer movement, because I think that's amazing.
- 57:00SPEAKER_01: And to to go find your book and look at it and also your store, because you have a lot of great merchandise in your store is looking at that.
- 57:07SPEAKER_01: And um, I'm excited about that for you because um I think it's it's really awesome what you're doing.
- 57:15SPEAKER_01: God is really blessing you, and you're blessing so many people.
- 57:18SPEAKER_01: And um, I think that that's what we're supposed to be doing as the bride of the church.
- 57:22SPEAKER_01: We're supposed to be lifting one another up and straightening each other's crown, and that's what crushing strongholds is about.
- 57:27SPEAKER_01: And that's why I like to bring people in and share their stories and their testimonies, because like you said, the word of your testimony um is so valuable and it really does dismantle strongholds when we start sharing with other people what we're going through, we um we get out of the victim victimization mode and we get into the battle mode when we start getting into the group and the realm with other people that are facing the same exact battle that we face.
- 57:53SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 57:54SPEAKER_01: And I feel like we conquer and divide sometimes, you know, with that because um we often tend to instead of sitting in isolated in our little pit and and having the woe is me, which was me.
- 58:07SPEAKER_01: I'm not gonna lie, that was me.
- 58:08SPEAKER_01: I I'm talking about myself, so I don't want anybody to think I'm pointing fingers, but you know, once you step out of that pit and you realize that you're not alone in it, there are people out there going through the same thing.
- 58:18SPEAKER_01: Um tell somebody your story.
- 58:22SPEAKER_01: Get get, like you said, get in a group, get in a prayer group, get in a Bible study group.

- 58:36SPEAKER_01: Um, and it's an amazing thing what you're doing.
- 58:38SPEAKER_01: And I just I mean, I appreciate what you do very much.
- 58:42SPEAKER_01: And also for all of the kids out there, all these kids, because you know what?
- 58:46SPEAKER_01: You're praying for them.

- 59:14SPEAKER_00: So get in this fight, get in a fight for for another mama.
- 59:17SPEAKER_00: If you're not walking through a battle right now, find a mama that is and let's partner together and let's get these kids home.
- 59:24SPEAKER_01: That's awesome.
- 59:25SPEAKER_01: Thank you so much for that.
