[upbeat music] Gotta get my rerun.
• 0:19
[laughs] Gotta hike up those pants in a rerun. Hey, hey. Hey, hey, hey. Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. Hey, hey, hey, Raj. What's happening? It's been a minute since I thought about that.
• 0:29
It's been a minute since anybody thought about it. Now we reminded everyone. Right. [laughs] Now I'll be like- [laughs]... it's gonna suddenly spike in reruns. Rerun's gonna be rerun. Rerun, rerun's running, run.
• 0:40
Yeah, man. Hey, everybody. Welcome to the radio program. It's Full Spectrum Cycling. Today is show number 335. The angel number. It's not really radio, though. It is. It's radio on demand. Got it. Yes. That- Rad-...
• 0:56
that's what I like to call it... r- rod Rod. [laughs] Yeah, rod. This is signaling the positive life changes, personal growth, and self-realization, man. The, the 335? Yeah. Okay. It's the angel number, they say.
• 1:09
All right, then. I don't know. I'll take it. And it's also a, uh, Gibson ES-335- Oh, yes... Semi-Hollow. A very classic... electric guitar. I think, uh- Yeah...
• 1:19
I think our good buddy, uh, Mike Ness might play one of those. Of course he would. Yes, he does. [laughs] My, my friend. Your, your friend and my friend. Yes, we do- Mr. Michael Ness, ladies and gentlemen.
• 1:33
Well, I don't think it's been quite a month. It's been close to a month since we did- Something like that... this last. Yeah. So here we are again in your ear hole, and, uh, it just seems like, uh,
• 1:47
it was just last week, but it's been a month, and lots has happened. Damn right. I, I think the last time we did this was basically just before the River West 24. Cory, Cory Baumann. Mm-hmm. Cory Baumann was on the show.
• 1:58
Thank you, Cory Baumann. Let's, uh, let's get the Cory Baumann stuff out of the way first. JK did a Cream City DJ set at Cory's place. That was fun.
• 2:09
Which by the way, I gotta figure out exactly which house, 'cause Wendy's and my 28th wedding anniversary was- Great... Sunday, so we went to Milwaukee Steak House. Nice. Bone-in- Yeah... filet.
• 2:22
You said it was great, huh? It was the best- Actually, I wasn't as-... piece of meat I've had in a long time... I wasn't as close to that as I thought I was. Okay.
• 2:28
Well, it's on- I was looking for a, I was looking at a different [clears throat] location when I had looked at the map, and I'm like, "Oh, shit, I'm right there." Yeah. So- And I'm like, "Oh, no, it's not."
• 2:38
When you do the Cory Baumann DJ set, did you bring your own vinyl? Yes. Nice. Turn up your gizmo thing. There you go. All right. Cool. Tony's, Tony's a professional now. Yeah.
• 2:48
Um- So I went through my own stacks, you know. I was like, "I could try to pilfer from others and whatever to make things," and I'm like, "No, no, no, no, no. I wanna go through my stuff-" I like that approach...
• 2:59
grab- I like that approach a lot... and see what happens, and yeah. It was fun. It was fun to, uh- Does it-... curate it together... does it wake up the, uh, the juices? You're gonna do it again? Oh, shit, yeah. Yeah.
• 3:12
And just like- Yeah... little things where it was like, oh, yeah, yeah, like track one and, and the final track just out of work happenstance, uh, came in at one minute and 24 seconds.
• 3:25
And it, what a weird, you know, at, uh- Yeah... you know, kind of thing. So does it give you like, uh, my theme for the next one is every song has to be two minutes and 32 seconds?
• 3:34
[laughs] Or- What a bitch that would be... I li- I liked your, uh, uh, your approach of doing, uh, s- song one- Yeah... side one only. Yeah, yeah. Or whatever. I mean- That, that was, I, I was gonna try to minimize my
• 3:50
possibility of error. [laughs] I, well, I watched it- 'Cause so many-... I watched it one and a half times so far, and the two minor little glitches are not, I wouldn't call them errors.
• 4:00
They just show you it's do- it's happening live, man. Yeah. That's live. That's live right there. There, there's no editing, was there? Oh, no, no. There's no editing. No, there's no editing there.
• 4:09
Well, I mean- Just like this show, folks... may- maybe a little bit, but I, he, and he said, you know, "Oh, I can, I could go in in case things are, you know- Right... whatever," but tried not to screw up- Yeah...
• 4:19
kind of thing. Well, yeah. And I mean, like, yeah, same here. I mean, like, I get it. I got the mindset for that, you know, so- Yeah... that worked out very, very nice.
• 4:26
That's how, that's how come this show is so good, 'cause we never edit, ever. Bullshit. You've edited. Not in y- not, no, not really. No, no.
• 4:36
The only time I edit is if something is, like, technically wrong, like for some reason the audio didn't record on one thing and I have to go in and sync up audio.
• 4:45
We've, we've had to cut out, or you've had to cut out Big Sexy once in a while. Oh, there are certain times, oh, I lament the loss of... I would never cut him off anymore- Me either... if he were still around. Right.
• 4:54
[laughs] Uh, I don't know if, did you, either of you guys know young Jack that perished this past weekend? No, um, I saw Steve's post on it- Yeah. Yeah, yeah, I know...
• 5:03
when I randomly was looking at Facebook Marketplace. Yeah. He, well, a young, young feller, 24 years old, part of the Cre- I'm glad he was that young... yeah, Create Moto Collective guy.
• 5:12
Um, I talked to him a few times over there 'cause he had a pretty good size spot and was always there. Big crash. Just a com- he's the guy with the Aerostar with the cutoff roof. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, no.
• 5:23
And, and, and, and many other endeavors of interesting buildy things, and I, yes, I think it was a s- single motorcycle crash, I believe. Mm-hmm. I'm not exactly sure- Mm... what happened yet.
• 5:36
Um, and it, it, it doesn't really matter. What matters is that he's not around anymore, and he was a, one of those just s- super creative, uh, and very crazy people.
• 5:46
[laughs] It was good, it was good to even meet- Only the good die young. That's what they say. That would explain why we're here so long. I know. Right. We're too old to die young. Yeah.
• 5:55
Uh, just because I'm looking at him, uh, Freakin' Bikes, I don't know if you know this guy, Dunk Wilson. Don't. He's, he's in the, uh, the lab. You may recognize him. Okay.
• 6:04
He's one of the guys that- Uh, contributes more than most at this point, although it is, you know, kinda- I like it... The Fat Bike Lab. Um, he sent these stickers. I sent him some of our fatbike.com ones.
• 6:14
It says, "Thank you. Do love a sticker and love your Facebook... or, uh, Fat Bike page." [laughs] Facebook page. Oh, you sent him airmail. Well done, Dunk. Dunk Wilson. Thanks, Dunk. I got your, uh- Where's he from?
• 6:27
Probably, uh, he's from, uh, he's from, uh, northwest Midlands in the old E-, uh, in the old Britainville. Wow, cool. The kingdom that has united. Yes.
• 6:37
Uh, it goes through- That's, you know, that's commitment to go through that... it goes through UK. Royal m- Wow... Royal Mail. Supporting with.
• 6:42
I mean, that, that really, that's commitment to have him wanna send you, us stickers- Well, I'm-... from the UK... I sent him our stickers. Turn around. So we're like Fat Bike.
• 6:52
It's like, it's like, it's like sticker trading. Very wise. Okay. I guess if people send me stickers ever, I will send them stickers back. Okay, that's good word. Good, yeah.
• 6:59
But at the same time, I am g- I did find some more stickers if you're a fatbike.com sticker needer, and you're part of the Fat Bike Lab. This is the important part, because you ain't getting none- I-...
• 7:10
unless you're part of the lab. I am. You're not getting any anyway. You already got- Here's a sticker. Now you, you know. [laughs] I have voted. I have voted. Oh. That's on my helmet. And on your phone. I have vetoed.
• 7:20
And another one on my phone. Yo soy. Yeah. Uh, yeah. Yo vote. I, I don't wanna get into politics, but that was a tough choice- Mm-hmm... and I don't think I made the right one. Mm. Whatever. Doesn't matter.
• 7:33
Long as we vote [laughs] right in November. Yeah, yeah. It wasn't run on, uh, yeah. Get behind- Or left, 'cause that case maybe... get behind whoever is- This is for after the podcast... in there. Yeah. Yeah, for sure.
• 7:41
Yeah, I don't, yeah. Get behind whoever needs it. Yesterday was voting day, and yeah, it was weird. Uh, again, one more time, thanks Dunk for the, uh, for the freaking bikes. He, so I think- That's a cool sticker...
• 7:49
his son is the artist, and I have, I have- That's a great freaking set of stickers, man... and, and he's got the, uh, the little fish guy, like this guy. I do like the fish guy.
• 7:58
I, um, I did lay out the thing like, "Do you think your son would like to help us with a sticker for fatbike.com?" And he's like, "I'm pretty sure he would." Nice. So, we got, we got a lot of young folks. We're...
• 8:09
Oh, I threw those right in the other room, the, uh, the, the, the Coby, uh, fatbike.com- Yeah... things. I put some on some bikes during the 24. Wu-Tang and Full Spectrum are for children.
• 8:22
It was good to see, uh- Co-opting... Coby doing the River West 24. Yeah. We haven't actually... W- shall we dive into River West 24? Yeah, let's do a little- Sashay... a little, let's do a little m- mm, sashay.
• 8:32
Yeah, that's a good word. Sashay. Uh, it was fantastic weather. It was as good as weather gets. Yeah, it really was. Not too hot, not too cold. No rain.
• 8:41
Rain would've been the nice- a little bit in the middle of the night would've been- Yeah, that would've been all right, but yeah. As it was, it was, it was perfect basically. Shout to Jake sold his, uh,
• 8:51
bug out vehicle and has got a new one in the mail right now. Who, what, where, when, what happened? The, uh, Jake and Ally. The, they have their van in front of our house every year. Oh, right on. Okay.
• 9:02
They had that one for sale, and they just, I just saw him post that he sold it, and their brand new one is coming empty, getting ready to be built into- Wow... another new- Is it a Promaster? Uh, no, they're Ford people.
• 9:15
It's a Transit, tall roof. Oh, a, a big Transit. Okay. Tall roof Transit. Yeah, it's cool. Yeah. L- you know what? If they- Jake was the Promaster...
• 9:22
if they put these things into the United States market, do you think that would make- Oh, that'd be a fun camper... do you think that would make a good camper right there? That'd be a good camper. This is a Hiace.
• 9:30
Uh, it's act- You get those in Chicago... it's actually a Super GL, uh, uh, Toyota. It's also a Kyosho radio controlled vehicle, and these are surprisingly inexpensive.
• 9:39
I got it to check out, because I was thinking about, about all this track. We don't really use it anymore. And I was thinking about figuring out a way to rent these out to kids and- The whole Hiace?...
• 9:49
and seeing if they would trash this thing. 'Cause these are like 50 bucks. They're s- way less than a real Mini-Z. And, you know- Interesting...
• 9:57
you get the little mini thing, and they don't go super fast, so they, but it, they'll probably break the mirrors off and stuff, but I really don't know what you could do to kill it. Cool.
• 10:04
So I want to have assistance from somebody who's in the education space a little bit on how to do a little thing so that kids aren't bored, but set the track up, have a, you know, four or six of these and
• 10:18
instead of playing video games, you play real things. I like it. Because they're a lot of fun. A, a video game is great. A lot of reflexes, a lot of brain thinking. Yeah, absolutely. A lot of stuffa, stuffa, stuff.
• 10:28
But s- uh, spatial awareness, I don't think you get that from a video game like you do from something that's actually in, in real life- Agreed... in the three dimensions- Agreed...
• 10:39
that we see from our eyes and hear from our ears and spit at when they go by from our mouth. [laughs] Oh, we should put a spittoon on the st- on the top. Hmm. Oh. Oh.
• 10:51
I'm thinking of all sorts of things that are gonna get that wet. Oh, hell no. I don't think that thing can handle getting wet, though. Is it, is it mirror only? But it, it's surprisingly fun to blast around with.
• 10:59
It looks like a lot of fun. I wonder if... So- Speaking of blasting... well, let's talk about, [laughs] let's talk more about the 24.
• 11:05
Um, so I, uh, rode quite a bit, and I kept going back and forth basically on the same route between Tony's place, the shop, a couple other spots, and then I started going like, "Well, why am I not riding a different way every time I go to get to some other place?"
• 11:22
And I found a GPS stitcher that would take all my little separate dozen or whatever segments, stitch them together, and make an overall one, one route thing on, uh, Strava. And when I got done, it was, I dunno, 27 miles.
• 11:39
It wasn't like I- It's pretty cool... rode a shit ton. Sure can. But it looks cool, and what it got me to thinking was it was very nearly the outline of the whole River West neighborhood. Yeah.
• 11:50
There were a bunch of spots where I was doing alleys and shortcuts through stuff and this and that, and, and I thought next year, wouldn't it be cool if I just tried to hit every alley and every street in River West during the River West 24 and get everything filled in on that map?
• 12:04
Yeah. That'd be dope. So that kind of gives- That'd be dope... it gives me a reason to actually... I'm not gonna be a team. But next year's 20 years. We don't know. There could be a team thing.
• 12:12
Oh, could be a, could be a team 20 I'll do it if they have a haircut bonus. Okay. [laughs] Well, you need a haircut, that's for damn sure. I- By then... technically own not until she graduates from college.
• 12:22
By then you'll need a haircut. [laughs] It's getting fucking long. Yeah, and purple-ish. So, yeah. Yeah. I s- I was standing up like- Yeah... the Heat Miser earlier. The Heat Miser. Yeah. [laughs] Sorry. I'm sorry.
• 12:33
Uh- I'm sorry. Yeah, I think, I mean, I did get about- I'm not sorry... uh, four hours of sleep during that evening. Right here- I got a couple hours... right here on the shop floor, ladies and gentlemen.
• 12:42
I got a couple hours. And here's one of the things that I learned about that day, was, uh, in the bike packing realm, I usually take an inflatable mattress, 'cause they're like, boom, smallish.
• 12:54
They're not that light com- like, an- s- I had the Z Pad, you know, the- Yeah... foldy-up thing. That is way more comfortable than a blow-up mattress to me. And it's biggish, but it's super lightweight. Right.
• 13:08
So- So- No big deal... I'm like, I don't know, I might try that next time I go out. I'd rather a bigger, lighter weight on a bike camping trip than tiny and heavy. Yeah.
• 13:18
I don't know that the, yeah, the air mattress, well, it's just, it's a hassle every day to blow it up and- Right. Right... I mean, it has the whoosh, whoosh, whoosh, whoosh- Yeah... with the foot thing.
• 13:27
That's a pain in the ass. Yes... but it's still, you gotta f- you gotta get it all the way around. You could, maybe that would work. You gotta fill it out. Oh, yeah, this,
• 13:34
I got some new tools here that I was telling Tony about ear- I'll just show them. This is a Wolfbox, uh, this thing is for blowing stuff out, like cleaning stuff. [air hissing] It is surprisingly-
• 13:47
Oh, my luxurious locks are loving this. So, pr- it's like, well, you know, you used to have the Freon-filled- Mm-hmm...
• 13:52
um, can of air, and every once in a while you get the Freon out when you're cleaning your compu- Or you hold it upside down and freeze your buddy's back. Yeah, that's- That's my favorite...
• 14:00
or you wrecking your computer 'cause- Yeah... the Freon comes out. Yeah. This is surprisingly good, and it's not- I agree... super expensive. I think it's fun. It's very nice. I don't- Fun size...
• 14:10
you don't wanna [laughs] you do not wanna put it in your nose. Believe me, I tried that. [laughs] Just saying. Eh. It's like the power of cocaine thing. It's like blast it right up there.
• 14:20
Why'd the fast food dude do that? I- [laughs] Here's a good idea. I'm gonna stick this- Yeah, I'm gonna stick-... up my nose... I'm gonna stick it in my butt. [laughs] No, I, so stick it somewhere. Look at that thing.
• 14:27
No, seriously, Julian, check me out. G- no, you gotta watch this. That's like a prominent proboscis right there. Look at that thing. You guys are bad. Ooh.
• 14:35
Uh, so that thing is cool, and it was, it, it's a pr- you know, I don't know.
• 14:39
I will get into the other one later 'cause it looks more like a, hmm, it, it looks more like [laughs] it could be a, a thing you keep on your, uh, uh, in your sideboard at the old bedside or something.
• 14:50
Uh, uh- No, I sent you the, uh, um, my two accomplishments of, of the 24. That's what was right there. Is that what you just buzzed up? Yeah, yeah. It was, like, Maccabee at, uh, at, uh, Vegas. Yep.
• 15:04
And I just ended up there, like, [laughs] most of Friday. Yeah, me too. And then it was like, oh, okay, okay, I'm gonna go home and actually take a nap and sleep, and then woke up in time to go down for the Alex Preddy.
• 15:17
Oh, yeah. There you go. What? And they had the two, at Vegas the next day of course, I ended up stopping there again, they had the two, uh, posters right next to each other. And I'm like, "The, hmm."
• 15:30
Oh, right, right, right. These are, like, the two things I've actually- [laughs]... done [laughs] in, in terms of- Yeah... status of t- 24. I'm fine with that. Yeah.
• 15:41
Those are two- I- You know, I don't need to- I, I d-... spread myself thin like- Right... too much butter across toasted bread. Oh. You know? You know, peanut butter just melts so, so much sometimes.
• 15:52
But if it's not enough, you just spread too thinly, you see. Yeah, so I don't know. I, I had, it was the w- the best 24 I've had in five years probably. I had a good time. Not being on a- Definitely had a good time...
• 16:03
not being on a team, at least not one that's, uh- I'd do a damn thing. I got, well, I did a bonus check, or I did a four-hour, Corey roped me into a four-hour, uh, ride-around bonus, which Daniel had a blast on. And
• 16:16
Sunday, ridiculously hungover, I decided the tattoo was cool enough to go get one at The Founders, so. That was Monday, though. No, Sunday. Oh, Sunday. Sunday after- Oh, the day after. Yeah...
• 16:26
the day after I got the tattoo from the guy from Brazil. Bradley. Tiago. He had a, he had a, the first time I ever seen one, he had a- Awesome... lithium ion battery-powered tattoo gun. That sounds like- Like-...
• 16:40
modern... that's pretty fucking dope, and- Did it rip your skin apart? It hurt. Do you think it's because it was his thing? He was in still- No, I think it's because he's a, a heavy-handed ta- it, it looks great.
• 16:52
He did a great job. I just think tattoo, I have, have, you know, I m- might have a couple of tattoos, 24 or something like that. Oh, 24. You know. Yeah. 24. I don't know. It might be 23.
• 17:03
I'll count later and let you know. Um, I mean, there are heavy-handed tattoo artists- But we're talking about the 24, so it's 24... there are heavy-handed tattoo artists, and there are some very light tattoo artists.
• 17:12
Mm-hmm. And- Well, do you want your ink to show, or do you want it to be just a whisper? Um- No... all of mine still look i- I just think it's how you roll. I don't know.
• 17:23
I, I think all my tattoos still look reasonable other than the mustache. Jake Newborn. [laughs] He hated that tattoo. Yeah, that wasn't a great one. I got it partially to spite him.
• 17:33
I did, I did see this year's and was like, "You know, it's a pretty good one." I'm not, I haven't always been a fan of the design. I didn't get the last two years 'cause I thought they were repeats of other years.
• 17:43
This, this was a good one. Huh. I almost thought about getting a tattoo, but I don't have any. Yeah. So I- I got the one. I know you got the one. My house. I got the one. Oh, you got the one. My house. Yes, exactly.
• 17:52
I- You were tattooing your house... anytime I'm at your house, I look, I'm like, "Oh, this is where I was branded." Um. [laughs] That's what they should go to now is branding. Exactly. Oh, that would hurt so fucking bad.
• 18:03
Yeah, but only for, like, 10 seconds. Bullshit. It doesn't hurt for that long. That burn lasts for days. You've a- you've obviously not burned yourself all [laughs] that often.
• 18:11
The technology has, has come a long way- Sure... I'll say. In your branding? In branding. Yeah. You know, I, you know, d- everyone, don't worry about it. [laughs] Just say it declaratively. I have no idea- Yeah...
• 18:23
if that's true or not. [laughs] So it was a good 24. Yeah, it was a good 24. People can agree. We had a lot of fun. Yeah, I, I definitely had a good time. Uh, all right.
• 18:30
Here's some quick hits because it's coming up really fast here in Milwaukee. Daikaiju's coming to the Falcon Bowl. Ah, yes. Michael will be wearing the Daikaiju shirt. Got my tickets Sunday. How much are they?
• 18:42
I am- Uh, 25 and change. Wasn't- Yeah. They're not, I mean, that's beforehand and- Sure... I don't know if they're taking it at the door or it will be sold out. I think they're gonna be sold out.
• 18:51
I talked to Dan, Dan, Mina, and, and Jess, and I'm like, "You hear about Daikaiju?" They're like, "Already have tickets." Okay. And I pulled out my phone. I'm like, "Shit, I gotta order tickets." Yeah. My...
• 19:00
See- And I looked at Molly... she probably wants to go. I'm like, "Should I get one or two?" And she's like- Mm-hmm... "Two." I'm like, "Yes." Same thing for Strummerfest. I mean, not that that would sell out- Yeah...
• 19:10
but to do the, uh, you get the T-shirt and ticket for 30 bucks. Yeah. And that always just works out. It does. [laughs] 'Cause I always end up getting a damn shirt no matter what, and a couple koozies and whatever.
• 19:25
I feel like we should mention bike boats, or bike boat and boats. And a goat. Dave and, uh, Greg, Greg Hahn- Hahn Solo... did the, uh, did the trip from, goes from- Manitowoc... Manitowoc to
• 19:43
Ludington. Correct. So they rode north as far as Manistee. I think they did 110 miles with a good chunk of beach.
• 19:50
I know that the goal was Sleeping Bear, but that was about halfway there, and that was like, you know what? That's a lot of work to get- Mm-hmm... on the beach, all the- Especially on a fat bike pulling a trailer.
• 20:00
Well, and because you don't know when you can get on beach, you might have to go down there, check it out, and then you find out you can't, so you have to go back, and then go that way more, and then go down there and figure it out.
• 20:10
But, uh, Dave also won the bingo contest on the way back again for the second year in a row. Wow. Oh. I thought you were- Was that a pin?... that he got cut off. What does he get?
• 20:22
I, I think he got a wristband that says, "You're the number one" or something like that. [laughs] You are my- So-... number one- It was on my-... guy...
• 20:31
I just happened to be deep in the middle of doing a bunch of eBay stuff 'cause I'm getting rid of a bunch of shit. I don't know. Well, the, you, you can- You've got rid of a bunch of shit...
• 20:39
you can't really tell 'cause a lot of the stuff I've gotten rid of- Oh, I can tell... is small. I can tell.
• 20:43
Uh, but there's, I will have a link in the show notes in case you are interested in either camera shit, shitty shit, or bike shitty shit. That's pretty much what's on eBay. No speakers, though. Those are hard to ship.
• 20:56
So those will be going on- You have a problem... those will be going- Boom... on the marketplace. I can see them f- We're gonna be taking you to SA.
• 21:01
There, there, there was a, there was this, a beautiful set of Har- Klipsch Heresy Ones. Have you s- did you see those? I saw those. Yeah. And they look beautiful, mint.
• 21:10
I, I texted the lady about them and I'm like, "Have they been gone through at all?" She's like, "I don't think they need to. They're really nice." I go, "I know."
• 21:18
I looked at them and they're below, they're below what they normally sell for, and I'm like, "Oh my God." I don't think... If I could sell, like, three of these, then I could go buy that. I'll buy them cheap. Yeah.
• 21:29
[laughs] Those- Uh-... that's a, my view through this podcast, which no one's gonna see, is pretty fucking dope. Yeah. Well, here's the deal about all of those speakers, is- Oh, yeah... they're all- [laughs] Yeah.
• 21:40
  Nice...
• 21:40
they're all s- they're all stuff that either I, either I had or a friends had, and I never really got into the ones the friends had, and I just wanna know more about, and specifically old school, uh, acoustic suspension speakers.
• 21:55
I'm not a huge fan of ported speakers, and I'm just kind of sticking to one lane on this, and those are almost all kind of like this size guy, or they're somewhere in here.
• 22:07
They're good-sized speakers They're, they're not-... nothing stupidly big... some of them are a little bigger than bookshelf, but they're basically bookshelf.
• 22:12
And, uh, and they're all from the, you know, the '70s through the late '80s probably. There's nothing- '70s and '80s? Oh, my... when they made interesting speakers. For interesting bands. [bell ringing] Like Iron Maiden.
• 22:26
God, we finally fucking got there. [laughs] Oh. I thought we were never gonna make it this top of this hill. Oh. It was a, it was a... I was riding a single speed. Oh, yeah. No wonder we just got to the top of the hill.
• 22:36
Uh, JK did bring the, uh... Oh, by the way, that's Tony and JK. JK, you guys probably already did that. Oh, yeah. We probably know it. I didn't introduce anybody. Hi.
• 22:43
That's what you get when you don't do this- It's not official now... all that often... gotta start over. Yep. Okay. We'll see you next week. [laughs] Oh, wait. We'll just finish this one instead.
• 22:53
[laughs] So what you got here, uh, Starship Trooper, Schmooper Dooper? Ugh. Yeah, yeah. The Trooper, Lagunitas. Which they make a good IPA. I mean, it's- They, they do... serviceable.
• 23:06
Uh, and- Great history on the brewery, too. You know, yeah... and working with, uh, Iron Maiden. Before they got bought out. I mean, Iron Maiden was working with some other breweries at times.
• 23:12
I remember, like, there was a- Yeah, didn't you have a really bad beer once? It was, like, a Scottish red ale, ale that was- Wasn't it, like, eight months old and it spilled out? No, that was the Motörhead. Okay.
• 23:22
Thank you. That was, that was the Motörhead. Um, but- Who are also working with another brewery again. Yeah. And that's cool. And [sighs] this is good. I mean- Mm-hmm... you know, and it's got the cool- It's good...
• 23:35
it's got the cool art, and I was noticing that each can has a little different descriptor on the top. Okay. A, a little bit of different words and whatever. But it- Did-... clocks in at, uh, 6.6.
• 23:50
I think they were going for the- That's a good, that's a good size... I think they were going for the 666- Oh, nice, nice... uh, kind of- Yeah. This one says- Yeah...
• 23:55
"It shows us the hidden track that presents itself only when you forgot the recording was still playing." "The euphoria gave way to a beer, letting the foam rise off the road." Roar. Roar? Roar.
• 24:13
Yeah, off the roar. "Within the steam billowing from the brew kettle, an epiphany unfurled." That's damn cool, man Right? What's the other one here? Pretty neat idea.
• 24:26
Okay, you know who else does this, but they can't do it- Oh, and I have the Euphoria one now Okay, go. The euphoria gave way to a beer, letting the foam rinse off the roar. Okay, I got one. There we go.
• 24:40
Good beer and- That's how, that's how it's supposed to sound, Tony... good beer and good music are never alone. Their harmony is where both cultures collide. Yeah. Oh, that was good. That's a good one.
• 24:55
Uh, to a similar idea, but not to the same extent because you can't change a tire mold as easily, almost every Surly tire on the bead has some- Mm-hmm. No shit?... clevernessy on it Oh, I did not remember this.
• 25:08
Oh, absolutely. Yes, yes, yes. Yeah. Oh, that's cool.
• 25:10
It's funny, it's funny that you say that Yeah, and a lot of people don't notice it 'cause you just slap your tires on Yeah, of course And it's in the part that would normally be where the rim hits the bead so you wouldn't see it when it's not...
• 25:20
You would only see it when it's unmounted. Uh-huh. We, I got a bunch of Surly tires in the other room.
• 25:25
We should- And I have a flat on my Surly [laughs] Okay, well there you go So I'm gonna digress for a second, but Hashky- Yeah...
• 25:32
he had a thick slick that was just beat to shit, and he wanted to ride the River West 24 and I'm like, "I'm not sure this is gonna make it."
• 25:40
And I wanted to order him new thick, thick slicks, but they were gonna take until like the day before the River West 24 started. So I did a bunch of, you know, Amazon Googling shit,
• 25:53
and I'm like, "Well, dude, I can get you some 700 by 28 folding tires and tubes for like 54 bucks." He decided to go with them.
• 26:09
It was, quite frankly, the easiest 700... It was a folding 700 tire. The easiest 700 tire I've ever installed, and he loved it. What are they? Through the whole River West 24 he's like, "This thing's awesome."
• 26:21
What are they, Cheng Shen or something? Some, some... It was not a brand. You leave Jack Burton alone. Not a brand. We earn his debt. I had never heard of, and I'm like, "I'm willing to try it," and it was, they're good.
• 26:33
Excuse me. Huh. Well, what, were they from Amazonian? Yep. Gotcha. Uh, before we get like way into the end of the show, let's, uh, let's present JK with...
• 26:45
So 3D printing went, uh, I think I've printed like 50, 60 things now. My new plan is to put the 3D printer directly on the side of this wall because I can control the humidity in there.
• 26:57
As humid as it's been, it's been mentally hum- I can't say that. It's been very, very humid
• 27:04
in the shop especially because we have a little bit of an air conditioner in here, and it doesn't really bode well for your 3D printing when it's super humid. Anyway, I can control the humid in there, humidity.
• 27:16
The humid- But I, I made- Aha... I made the fertility god from Indiana Jones complete with some of them didn't have the- Oh, little, little son of a gun? And you were like, "Oh, it should be about this big." Yeah.
• 27:31
I'm like, "There you go." Need a bag of sand to balance the weight out. Right. It's not, it, you have to fill it with your own sand to make it heavier, but- Oh, don't- Does it?
• 27:38
It scares me a moment, but like [laughs] It turned out pretty good. That did, very much so. Um, this one is, "Hello." Ah, yes. "It's me you're looking for." "It's me you're looking for."
• 27:51
That's Lionel Richie right there, baby. And I can see it in your eyes. So I'm not sure if I did this one exactly right. That's a good Lionel Richie.
• 27:56
It's super light, 'cause it- It's right, well, yeah, it totally, yeah I'm impressed with how... Yeah, I f- I picked that up too. I'm like, damn.
• 28:01
Um, I have some- Oh, it is very, very, very good Well, I might have taken the bottom off it or something weird, and then because I was printing and, uh, JK's email starts with Frozen Han. Yes.
• 28:13
So there, there would be the- That's presentable... Carbonite-encrusted Frozen Han [laughs] I thank you. Yes, yes. I did the Maltese Falcon too. It's in the other room, but- Nice... I left it in there.
• 28:22
And it's like a, it's almost full-size Maltese Falcon. I was kinda like, "That's pretty cool." If, if any of- You mean like you can ride in it? No, it's from the, the Bogart movie. Well, it's not full size.
• 28:35
Jesus Christ, dude. The Maltese Falcon is this big. I'm, I'm giving you un- I'm giving you shit, okay? Work. Beep, beep, beep, beep. People I- Beep [laughs]...
• 28:43
I used to work with knew I had this, uh, bird phobia, and I still kinda do. But, uh, long story long, when I was five years old, I was out in back,
• 28:56
uh, with my mom and hanging out and doing some gardening, and all of a sudden a crow comes wa-boom, ba-boom, and like in for the attack. And my mom kinda freaks out, and it's like ripping through her like, ah, dah, dah.
• 29:12
It was a pet crow that had gotten loose in the neighborhood. Oh, so it's friendly and- And it was just trying to land on a shoulder. Aw. But, hey, five years old, that imprints as- Fuck that. Fuck that...
• 29:23
whatever- Badminton racket, baby... for the re- I mean,
• 29:27
I don't take- They don't call them birdies for nothing [laughs] We'd have events at the zoo, and they would, like I'd have to, I, I'd, I did win 20- I love birds I did w- I did win $20 for slowly walking through the aviary
• 29:38
and not having a complete meltdown. From your parents? [laughs] No. No, no, no, other friends and whatever. The, like in old radio days and whatever.
• 29:47
Um, and I guess I imprinted on somebody else that was there 'cause als- well, at the zoo the geese are everywhere, and they're horrible. You know?
• 29:57
And- I can, I can feel a little bit of that I did not know this about you.
• 29:59
This is really a fun fact I can feel a little bit of that So long story long again, as I prefaced on that one, uh, we were out to eat and whatever and somebody had given me, like, "Oh, here's a present," and opened it up and it was like a crow.
• 30:13
Like a, a f- That's a great movie too. It w- yes, yes, yes. This is true. But I mean, about this size, like a full size- You know, plastic resin kind of- Crow... crow.
• 30:26
And just to get my, like, jump s- you know, the little jump scare, like, huh, eh, you know. [laughs] And it worked. Good, good on them. Yeah, I know. [laughs] Every- everyone knows how to poke the bear, [laughs] I guess.
• 30:41
Right on. Uh, oh, there's one thing on here, but this brings up something- [laughs]... with Tony. How many folding bikes have you bought in the last three weeks? Or two months? Two.
• 30:51
Well, so do you have a f- you have, like, some... You have a folding bike then. I, I bought a f- I'm sorry, but I bought a fucking killer Dahon. I mean- It is pretty good...
• 31:04
250 bucks, it came with a Thudbuster seat post. Ha, that's- And an eight-speed Nexus internally geared hub. It's worth more than 250 right there. I mean, it, it is a... And it had no miles on it. [laughs] And then, um,
• 31:19
oh, you, you may not know about this, 'cause I just found this out. So I got this 12-inch wheeled Chinese f- like, pull a lever and the whole thing folds flat. It looks interesting when it's folded.
• 31:35
So I, I- 'Cause it's not like, it's not like doosh, doosh, doosh. No, it's, it's long. It's just like whoosh. And long and thin. Yeah.
• 31:41
And I posted it on Reddit, and someone responded back, "Is that a knockoff of a Bridgestone Piknika?" So I Google Piknika, and it is. Huh.
• 31:55
And apparently in Taiwan and areas of Japan, the Piknika is collectible because people buy them, modify them to run five or six-speed rear derailleurs, and then put, like,
• 32:13
65-tooth front ends on them. So they do, like, 30 miles an hour on a bike that is, you know, this big. Yeah, I haven't seen that one yet. Um- I, I saw the Dahon...
• 32:26
I rode it to work and yesterday, to, to work and back yesterday, and it's, I don't wanna ride it more than a couple of miles at a time. But, you know, for end of, what do they call that? There's a term they use.
• 32:37
The, the last mile. The last mile commute. They're freaking great. Yeah. It's light enough that I can pick it up and carry it in the house. Um, the 12-inch wheels are never gonna go out of true. True that.
• 32:50
I mean, you just can't. You're just gonna get stuck in the pothole and be like- Right, right, and do an over the handlebars. I, I definitely look for potholes. But yes, um...
• 33:00
So what, what brings this up a little bit is that I found another folding bike you need. Yeah, boy. Well, the, the link is in the show notes. Payday's Tuesday. And- All right... so imagine an Omnium cargo bike.
• 33:13
You're not gonna tell me that folds. That folds. Imagine- This is like $2,000, isn't it? Ima- Or more... 3,400 euro. Ooh, 5,000. $4,000. They're, they're brand new.
• 33:24
I don't even know if they're actually out yet, but it's a Omnium cargo. That folds. Almost exact lookalike. It folds, and then the, the, the tra- the rack, the tray, has wheels on the ends. To roll it. Yep, yep.
• 33:37
So you flip it over and you roll it on... It's pretty damn cool. The link's in- So-... the show notes. You should check it out just in case- So now we have to roll into the-...
• 33:44
you get an extra 4K in the checking account...
• 33:46
we now have to roll into, so, eh, m- a lot of people will know that the Riverwest 24, the next day they do something called the Solar Plunge, not to be confused with the Polar Plunge.
• 33:58
That would be 'cause it's in the summer. 'Cause it's summer. Ah. [laughs] So everyone goes down to Atwater Beach. Like, a bunch of Riverwest 24 participants end up at Atwater Beach and go polar, you know, solar plunging.
• 34:13
I was there with Molly, dreadfully hungover. [laughs] And there's a, um, a gentleman there who Molly and other people... He has a box of wine, and- Aha... and I look at this guy- Wasn't me...
• 34:27
and he looks very familiar from Riverwest 24 lore. Still wasn't me. And I look at this guy, I'm like- [laughs]... "You have a Brompton folding bike." See? And he's like, "How did you know that?"
• 34:41
I'm like, "Because I've seen one in real life, and it's yours." Oh. And he's like, "Yeah, I do race a Bro- I, every year I ride a Brompton," which is my, that's my go-to. Titan, titan. I, I really wanna own a Brompton.
• 34:55
Titanium Brompton. I would love to own a titanium Brompton. There you go. But, but I would love to own a Brompton period, and I missed out on one. Then I look at his wrist, and I'm like, "Where'd you get that tattoo?"
• 35:08
Tattoo. He's like- Tattoo... "I don't know, some h- abandoned house." Ah. "It's your tattoo." I'm like- Yeah, yeah... "My house?" I'm like, it was such a great- Everyone's coming to my house...
• 35:18
in the middle of our street. My house, my house. My house. Is that castle in the- Which that, of course, brings me to, if you live in Milwaukee, go to Lisa's Pizza and get wings- There is someone in my house...
• 35:28
'cause that was saved my ass- My house... the day after the Riverwest 24. If I had not known about those wings, I'd probably not be here today. Well, thank God for Lisa's. Right. Exactly.
• 35:37
And my day in a very weird corporate way, you know, I had to stop in at, hello, you know, welcome to Costco, we love you. Yep, we love you. I love Costco. Hey, man, they're- I love Costco...
• 35:49
slice of pepperoni doesn't slouch, man. That's a- Dude, it's killer... that's a pretty goddamn good [laughs] piece of slice, man. [laughs] Fucking, well, get the whole pizza. Well, I don't want the whole pizza.
• 35:58
We take the whole pizza home. Hey, hey, hey, I- Daniel loves it... understood. I mean, yeah, you can't... No, it's portion control, man. All right. [laughs] Come on.
• 36:08
Well, [laughs] well it- I don't need this base, base, base... it looks like there's a lot of room in there. You could put more stuff in there. Well, yeah, that's...
• 36:12
Well, yeah, the, the, the, the problem of going to one of the early Daikaiju Shows and getting a T-shirt, when the wife buys it, it becomes feminized. Oh.
• 36:25
Well, it- So I have to wear a shirt underneath it, even when it's 90% fricking humidity outside. Everyone should always wear two shirts. Did you, did you by chance see my shirt this year?
• 36:35
That is, was that the f- first, second? First or second. I thought that was- Yeah... I thought that was the same year as Frost Bike. [laughs] I mean, wait, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Trail Track 2014.
• 36:45
Deep in the kettle. [laughs] Yeah, that might've been the first, that might've been the first year. Yeah, yeah. It was. That was a good one. Well, they're all good ones. I just dug it out of a box.
• 36:53
They're all good boxes. I had a very nice young lady at- [laughs] It's all true... Truly Spoken who, getting my wheel tuned, and this young lady's like, "I have no- Trude... Trude, thank you Tuned. "Well, I ain't tuned."
• 37:04
Um- Tuned. That's from Dark City... she's like, "I don't have any vintage River West '24 memorabilia." And I'm like, "I'll take care of that for you." No, just go to Goodwill, is what you mean.
• 37:14
So I took her into a bunch of box- [laughs] There's no word, there's no word for Jeremy, man... right? So I took her about six shirts, and then I found this while I was digging through my boxes. That is a good one. No.
• 37:22
You didn't give it to her, I see. No. [laughs] And I kept my Extra Cycle shirt, original Extra Cycle. I, you know what?
• 37:27
I typically, you know, I do give my, uh, River West '24 shirts often to Goodwill, just because I don't wear anything normally but black shirts. [laughs] Some of them are good. I kept a few, 'cause I like the design.
• 37:41
But- I kept this year's. I like it. Right on. I didn't even see this year's. Can't wait. Well, we did a good job of, uh, wasting everybody's time. Here's what I'm thinking. Lincoln.
• 37:50
Tony and I talked about this the other day, JK's k- gotta, kinda gotta be in on this or not in this, is that we should waste more of your time by doing this every two weeks again.
• 37:57
Yeah, but- Like, starting in September... I, I can get back to two weeks. What do you think? Yeah. Every couple weeks in September? Right. Start in September. We- Two or s-... we should ask people to chime in on that.
• 38:05
Yeah. Uh, no. Do you wanna see us- No, they'll be like-... once a month, or- No. They'll be like-... you wanna see me every day? Well, which, so there'll be like the one, our one viewer, listener- Yeah Kobe?...
• 38:14
he'll be like... Kobe'll be like, "Yeah. Do every week." And he can throw money at my Venmo account, then. Yeah. [laughs] What is your Venmo account? Guess what? Frozenhan@venmo.com. Yeah, @frozenhan.
• 38:24
[laughs] Yeah, yeah. @frozenhan, there you go.
• 38:27
It's so, okay, there's a, a, in the movie, I don't know, what is it, Clerks II, when the Transformers nerd is in there going like, "I have, you know, uh, my, my handle is Optimus Prime in like all of the major venues and whatever."
• 38:43
I am the same- [laughs]... with Frozenhan. I have- I- That's like my email for like Gmail, Yahoo, uh, uh, uh, name it- Yeah... name it.
• 38:52
Okay, I'll- [laughs] It's like- All, all you, uh, all you North Korean hackers- Star-... uh, it's frozenhan@gmail.com. Yes, exactly. You can pilfer- W- w- the, the massive- Yeah, my wealth... massive wealth.
• 39:05
[laughs] Well, not yet. Soon to be. Ah, yes, proceed. Just bide your time, you North Korean hackers, you. Mm-hmm. Yes, exactly. All right, everybody. I know we did it to you, but this is what we do. Again.
• 39:17
[sings] We did it again. Yeah. So if we're gonna do it again, I don't know, we'll have to come up with a schmickity-schmedule a little bit. I, I like doing it. I'd like doing it enough to do it again.
• 39:27
And then, I might not forget to push the record button- Tuesday's always work at our place... which I forgot to do. So we're gonna have to do this again. And next month is right before my birthday.
• 39:35
[laughs] Right before my birthday. So y'all stay h- This week's right before my birthday. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Happy birthday, Tony, in between now and then. Yep, happy- 59... here and yon. [sings] Birthday, Mrs. President.
• 39:47
Happy birthday to you. You. Cha, cha, cha.
• 39:55
  [upbeat music]
