- 0:06Hello. What's your least favorite scary
- 0:08movie? Spring break forever.
- 0:11Well, watch your least favorite Scary movie, The podcast where
- 0:14we talk about the good, the bad, the ugly and the absurd and all
- 0:18of our. Favorite and least favorite
- 0:19movie Because we believe every horror movie rightfully has its
- 0:22fanbase. Even if we don't always get it.
- 0:24My name is Travis. My name is Jesse.
- 0:26And welcome everybody to this month's Patreon voted episode.
- 0:30Today we are talking about the final girls.
- 0:34Yeah. We are.
- 0:35But before we get into any of the nitty gritty and all that,
- 0:39do you have anything you need to announce Jess?
- 0:41Yes, as we did last year, we're doing our TB or not to be this
- 0:46Easter Sunday. Yeah, maybe Travis will pick
- 0:48something equally sacrilegious to discuss.
- 0:50Yeah, I don't know. I've looked around.
- 0:52I'm thinking I'm mulling it over, you know, we'll, we'll get
- 0:55something pretty nice, I'm sure. Or not.
- 0:59I don't know. It's to be or not to be.
- 1:00It's a mixed bag. It could be a bad, it could be
- 1:02great. Who knows?
- 1:03I'm excited to be on the lookout.
- 1:05To be determined. To be too fuck, To be
- 1:10determined. Oh yeah, baby, I'm starting off
- 1:14strong, OK. Is that all you got?
- 1:16Yes. OK, cool.
- 1:17Well, I have poll results. Yay.
- 1:19Last week we talked about sorority row.
- 1:23Sorority row? Yeah, that's right.
- 1:25I had to think about that. We wanted to know of the
- 1:29following sisters. Who would you want as your
- 1:32sorority big sister? If you don't know what a
- 1:34sorority big sister is, Jesse, please explain since you were in
- 1:37a sorority. It's it's an older member who
- 1:42kind of like they take you into your sorority family.
- 1:44They're really good friends. They can be kind of the guide
- 1:46for you so. Yeah.
- 1:48And they are like assigned to you when you pledge and become a
- 1:52member of that. It depends.
- 1:55From sorority to sorority, whatever.
- 1:57You get the gist of it. That's the point.
- 1:59All right, So it was between Ellie, Cassidy, Jessica, and
- 2:02Chugs. So 25% would have Ellie, 25
- 2:08Cassidy, nobody Jessica and 50% chugs.
- 2:13Chugs would be fun. Yep, Chugs is the fun one for
- 2:16sure. I think realistically my bag was
- 2:19actually like very LA coded like LA smart sensitive, OK.
- 2:28If I had to choose who I wanted, I think I would want Chucks
- 2:31because I want the fun one. I want the one that would have a
- 2:34lot of fun. That's part of the reason people
- 2:37do that shit. That was one of the reasons I
- 2:38did that shit. I wanted to have fun so.
- 2:40I think Elliott was probably very sweet.
- 2:42We just saw her at a very stressful time.
- 2:44That gets it, that gets that done.
- 2:46All right, so are we ready to talk about the final girls?
- 2:48Yes. OK, so the Final Girls premiered
- 2:53January 30th, 2015 at Panic Fest.
- 2:56It had its at wide limited release on October 9th, 2015.
- 3:04We watched it on Pluto and as of April 2025, you can watch it on
- 3:10the Roku Channel and Pluto if you want to stream it or if you
- 3:14prefer to rinse, you've got Apple TV, Amazon, YouTube and
- 3:17Fandango at home. Written by MA Fortin and Joshua
- 3:22John Miller. Directed by Todd Strauss
- 3:24Schulsten, Music by Gregory James Jenkins and Eddie Zack
- 3:28Special effects makeup Elvis Jones, Warren Thomas, Patrick
- 3:32Rigg and Bailey Donk. Starring Taisa Fermiga as Max,
- 3:37Mallon Ackerman as Amanda and Nancy, Alexander Ludwig as Chris
- 3:43Briggs, Nina Dobrev as Vicky, Aaliyah Chaka as Gertie, Thomas
- 3:48Middleditch as Duncan, Adam Devine as Kurt, Angela Timber as
- 3:53Tina, Chloe Bridges as Paula, Tori and Thompson as Blake, and
- 3:58Daniel Norris as Billy. All right.
- 4:02All right, time for our favorite game on the show, Budget or Buck
- 4:05Ted. I think it's budget but like
- 4:09lower budget. OK, this is a buck, Ted.
- 4:12OK. This is $4.5 million.
- 4:15Wow. That's all.
- 4:16Done. Yeah, it's a pretty nice looking
- 4:18$4.5 million. Movie yeah, I just.
- 4:20It looks really nice and it's a cast full of very recognizable
- 4:23names, so. Yeah, and it had some nice fancy
- 4:28camera moves and then setups and certain scenes.
- 4:30It did give the impression of being a budget movie, but no
- 4:34good. They did good.
- 4:36I don't have opening box office because it was so limited
- 4:39release. And yeah, but I do have a gross
- 4:43of home media cells, OK. And that is 1.5 million, OK,
- 4:48which that I don't know how up to date that is, but it has made
- 4:52at least that amount of money, OK.
- 4:54And the IMDb scores 6.5. Good.
- 4:58Yeah, that's really good. I'm I'm happy that it's getting
- 5:00the love that it deserves. So I have 3 movies from 2015
- 5:05lined up here. OK.
- 5:06The theme that I have are movies within movies.
- 5:10I like that. That's a smart theme.
- 5:12So the first movie is All Hallows Eve 2 I.
- 5:17Was trying to remember if we've watched it.
- 5:19I think we tried to start at one time.
- 5:22So that is obviously the sequel to All How's Eve, which was
- 5:26Damien Leone's kind of way to get Art the Crown taken off or
- 5:31off the ground, I guess. And this one doesn't have him
- 5:34involved. But they took the premise and
- 5:36ran with it. It involves somebody finding
- 5:38another VHS and then they're putting it in the TV and they're
- 5:41watching all these different anthology type movies here.
- 5:45So that came out October 6th, 2015.
- 5:47Don't have the budget or the gross, but it's a 4.6 on IMDb.
- 5:51All right. Movie #2 Be My Cat, a film for
- 5:56Anne. Have you heard of this movie?
- 6:00Actually, yes. It's a strange.
- 6:01I don't know anything about it, but I have heard of it.
- 6:03Let me tell you about it. It's really weird.
- 6:06It's about a guy that is he's wanting to cast Anne Hathaway in
- 6:11his movie, and it is very stalkerish.
- 6:16Yeah, he is making he. It's called Be My Cat because he
- 6:21was wanting her to be in his movie because he's inspired by
- 6:24her performance as Catwoman and he is getting all of these women
- 6:31to do demo shoots for him to. Be his cat.
- 6:35To send them to Anne Hathaway to convince them to be in his
- 6:38movie. Yeah.
- 6:39And it's, it's very weird and I've never seen it, but I've
- 6:43read the premise and it sounds really uncomfortable.
- 6:46If I were Anne Hathaway, I wouldn't really be into this
- 6:48movie. And Talia's not into it either,
- 6:51obviously. She's she's grumpy.
- 6:54She's really upset right now. Zoe keeps laying on the same
- 6:57piece of furniture as her. To be clear, the piece of
- 7:00furniture is our very large sectional.
- 7:03Yeah. Yeah, it's they're, they're
- 7:05very, they're on like different sides of the planet right now,
- 7:08but. Separated by multiple pillows.
- 7:10All the things could be happening that we're not aware
- 7:12of right now because we're not out there.
- 7:13But anyways that released March 1st 2015 ten $1000 budget.
- 7:18Don't have a gross but a 5.69 DPI.
- 7:20Think the movie is gross? Yeah, I mean, it's kind of
- 7:23gross, the idea of it. OK.
- 7:26And the final movie, Sinister 2. OK.
- 7:30Yeah, cuz it's like home movies in there that they have to watch
- 7:32and it just corrupts the little children we've.
- 7:34Only watched it like once or twice.
- 7:35We've only watched it once and we watched it in theaters.
- 7:37I thought we had tried to watch it at home one other time.
- 7:40I fell asleep during it. It's possible.
- 7:42It's not bad, it's not terrible. It's a little bit more goofy
- 7:47than the first one, but it's not a bad movie.
- 7:49I think we'd need to revisit that to get a better feel of it.
- 7:54I agree. I agree.
- 7:55I think it's one of those that the first one sets such a high
- 7:58standard for yourself that we went to the second one and we're
- 8:00like. Yeah, I mean, Debbie D so and so
- 8:03he's the star of it, yeah. I was gonna say office for so
- 8:05and so is back. And he keeps that name too.
- 8:08I don't think we ever get his name.
- 8:09He's still credited as deputy so and so.
- 8:11I love that. And he is.
- 8:12That was one of the things everybody was fucking hoping,
- 8:14the sunrise on the reaping, but Suzanne would not give Katniss's
- 8:18mom a name. What's what's she referred to
- 8:21as? Just Katniss's mom.
- 8:22Yeah, or Miss Everdeen. OK, but she gives her name in
- 8:26the book. Why'd you have to cave?
- 8:27I was like canonically, now we know her name and I mean, it
- 8:30makes sense because she's like a supporting like friend to one of
- 8:34the main characters, but it's just like.
- 8:36Just not happy about it. Yeah, it would have just been
- 8:39really funny and pure camp to never give her a name.
- 8:43And I get that those books aren't camp, so it's fine, but I
- 8:46wish they had kept the running gag of not having a name for
- 8:48her. Too bad So Sinister 2 came out
- 8:51August 21st, 2015. Budget of 10 million worldwide
- 8:55Gross 53,000,000 IMDb 5.3. So it's got a decent little
- 9:00rating there. I think most people agree it's
- 9:02OK. Hold on.
- 9:03I'm going to pull up the first one just to have a comparison
- 9:06rating because. Oh yeah, if I'm not mistaken I
- 9:09think it's in the 7th. Your mistake.
- 9:16Was it in the six? .80.
- 9:18Shit. Oh, it's almost at 7.
- 9:20Somebody tanked it. They were they Sabbath touch.
- 9:22They heard this recording in real time.
- 9:25Somebody hacked into the computer.
- 9:27No, they heard it in the future and went back in time.
- 9:30Oh boy. Yeah, oh boy.
- 9:31They pulled the rug, the rug, the rug out from under me there,
- 9:35Rugger. Yeah.
- 9:37All right, so I have one tag on. Just one.
- 9:40Prepared to be underwhelmed? That's how I feel about that
- 9:44tagline. Yeah, no, that's not the
- 9:47tagline. That's how you should feel about
- 9:49this tagline. The tagline is who will survive.
- 9:55That's it. Is that meant to be like a
- 9:57reference to Texas Chainsaw? They make a lot of references.
- 10:00It kind of. Everybody knows your references
- 10:03are on point. I think, wait, thank you.
- 10:06I think the point is it's final girls plural.
- 10:09So like, which one's the final girl?
- 10:11Cuz there's a lot of people here that could maybe be, I don't
- 10:14know. I mean really, when you watch
- 10:15the movie, that doesn't really attract.
- 10:16But it's a tagline. It's not supposed to be synopsis
- 10:20of the movie or anything. So lame.
- 10:22We'll figure out a better one at the end of this episode.
- 10:25OK, OK, so let's do some fun facts.
- 10:28Yay, I love fun facts. So the idea of this movie was
- 10:31inspired by Joshua John Miller's personal experience of being a
- 10:36child of a horror movie actor. OK, his dad was a Jason Miller
- 10:41who played Father Karis in The Exorcist.
- 10:43Oh wow. OK, so a biggie.
- 10:46So I've got a quote from him that kind of explains where the
- 10:49idea of the movie came from, he says.
- 10:52I grew up watching my dad in The Exorcist, and there's something
- 10:54haunting, strange, confusing and a little bit unnatural to see
- 10:57your parent constantly die in a film.
- 10:59But it's something that also becomes iconic, and we tried to
- 11:02deconstruct what the effects of that would be as well as what it
- 11:04would be like if you had a second chance but your second
- 11:07chance was inside of a movie, which I think that's cool.
- 11:11Yeah. I think that, you know, the fact
- 11:12that it comes from, like, an actual personal experience.
- 11:15And I've never even really considered that before, like,
- 11:18how weird that does have to be seeing something like that.
- 11:21Yeah. Especially if it's like, well
- 11:22done effects. Yeah.
- 11:24Like, if it looks real, like, if it's cheesy effects, that's one
- 11:27thing. But yeah, I don't know how like
- 11:29that would mentally shape you if especially if you saw that as
- 11:32like a child. Well, when I, I was doing some
- 11:36extra work on a movie and there was one of the actors was like
- 11:43dead and her husband was there and just like saw her like dead
- 11:47laying on the ground or whatever.
- 11:48And I was like, is this weird? And he's like, we're both actors
- 11:51and we're just like we're both used to it by now.
- 11:53So like I can't imagine just like if I just saw you being
- 11:56dead all the time. Like I feel like that would kind
- 11:58of be a mind fuck. It kind of would, yeah.
- 12:00I don't know if I'd be a fan. So the movie was originally
- 12:05picked up by New Line Cinema. They were interested in the
- 12:08horror comedy aspects of the movie, not so much the heart of
- 12:11the movie. They didn't like the deep
- 12:13character moments between Max and her mom.
- 12:16But that's the whole point. Yeah, I mean, that's the whole
- 12:19point of like what he was talking about.
- 12:20They're like, hey, that happened to me in a movie and they're
- 12:22like, no, dude, the horror comedy, that's it.
- 12:25So they ended up not working out with them.
- 12:28Which I think is really funny because they kind of make fun of
- 12:31the cheesy 80s movies that really like all thriller, no
- 12:36filler, you know what I mean? Like they don't have like a
- 12:38heart to them. I think that's that's the IT
- 12:41needed that, yeah. Because like then it's just
- 12:43become like it's itself making. Fun of itself, yeah.
- 12:47It's weird, but they ended up going with Sony, who were
- 12:52actually interested in that part of the film.
- 12:55Surprising from Sony. I know that's what I thought she
- 12:58was like. You guys are not.
- 12:59Usually the good guy. Be fair, Sony fucking loves
- 13:02killing Uncle Ben so they're no stranger to sad family moment.
- 13:06They've really lucked, only had to stop doing that.
- 13:08Yeah, I think. I think that that's why they
- 13:10reset the Spider Man thing at the end of the last one.
- 13:13Like, can we do it again, please?
- 13:15Maybe. We have the perfect man to kill
- 13:17off after everybody falls in love with him.
- 13:19Yeah, we can make Tom Holland cry.
- 13:22They originally targeted an R rating for this, but the studio
- 13:26did request PG13. So there's a little bit of bad
- 13:28Sony right there. They fought really, really hard
- 13:31for the R rating, but they lost that fight.
- 13:34There is interest for sequel. Good I they set it up perfectly
- 13:38for a sequel. They actually did, yeah.
- 13:40And they said in the sequel they would reveal who Max's father
- 13:43is. I really don't care.
- 13:46That was never really like she never really seemed to care
- 13:49about her dad in this. It was mostly like her
- 13:51connection with her mom. I hope that's Adam Devine.
- 13:55Cuz he does like show up there at the end.
- 13:56Yeah it could be. Oh my God, that would be so
- 13:59weird. Yeah, like, maybe like as actors
- 14:02on set, they like had a little spark.
- 14:04Yeah, I mean, I could see that. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 14:07The original script had them mentally and physically
- 14:10transforming throughout the duration of the movie and Gerdie
- 14:15would actually prefer the new self that came from that and she
- 14:20tries to sabotage them to keep them all in the movie.
- 14:23I'm glad that they scrapped that storyline because I like, yeah,
- 14:27I like Gerdie as the supportive friend.
- 14:30Yeah, I do too. Yeah, I feel like that was a
- 14:32better change right there. And honestly, it's Leah Shawkat.
- 14:35Can she play anything besides the supportive friend?
- 14:39She could, but does she? No.
- 14:41No, you're right. She's never had a leading role,
- 14:43no. It's rude.
- 14:45She may have had leading roles in things that we've just not
- 14:48seen it. But she.
- 14:49Yeah, that's that's rude to her. She's a good actor.
- 14:51Yeah. All right.
- 14:52This is the final one. And I like this one a lot.
- 14:54So Billy's mask was changed during production.
- 14:59The original one had very prominent eyebrows and they
- 15:02ended up the cast and crew dubbed it the Eugene Levy Mask.
- 15:06OK, I was picturing Groucho Marks.
- 15:08Yeah, but Eugene Levy is just this generation's Groucho Marx.
- 15:11Yeah, yeah, for sure. I like I tried to find a picture
- 15:14of this and I typed in Eugene Levy Mask Final Girls and I just
- 15:18got Groucho Marx I'm picturing. The same mask, but like with fur
- 15:25added over the eyes. Yeah.
- 15:27Oh my God, I would love that. So you can see this mask in one
- 15:31scene, and then it's the scene where Gertie screams and gets
- 15:35everybody's attention when they're upstairs about to have
- 15:38sex. Yeah, that's the only scene you
- 15:40can see the Eugene Levy mask. I'm gonna we need to go back and
- 15:44look at that. Scene.
- 15:45I tried to find it on like YouTube and Google and all that.
- 15:48I couldn't find it. So we're gonna have to pause it
- 15:49there, yeah. All right, if you haven't
- 15:52watched the movie yet, when you go to watch it, make sure you
- 15:54pause when checking a shock has. Get your peep of that Eugene
- 15:58Levy right there. Yeah.
- 16:00OK, so that's it for my fun facts.
- 16:03So you ready to do some good? Bad, ugly and absurd?
- 16:05Absolutely. All right, kick it off for us
- 16:07some. Well, this movie was written by
- 16:09our people. You know what I mean?
- 16:11There are so many great references in there.
- 16:13Obviously, I opened up the Spring Breakers quote because
- 16:16how else am I ever going to get to do that?
- 16:18Is that happening? Quote here.
- 16:19Is that right? Yeah, when did Spring Breakers
- 16:22come out? 2013 maybe?
- 16:26I don't know man. Was it 2014?
- 16:28I think it's 14. Look it up, 2012, OK.
- 16:36So yeah, that definitely is enough time for that to be a
- 16:38reference. Yeah, yeah.
- 16:40We get the Chainsaw Bastard Man movie reference.
- 16:44Yeah, Oh my God. I mean, there and then there are
- 16:46a ton of like other references sprinkled throughout.
- 16:48Obviously those two were our favorites, but it's this is a
- 16:53horror movie written by fans of horror movies who also know not
- 16:56to take things too seriously except for the things that
- 16:58matter, like those, like familial and friendship bonds.
- 17:02And I think it's really fun the way they cycle through the
- 17:06movie. They can't leave the scene once
- 17:08they're set up in it. That was smart, yeah.
- 17:10Yeah, I I just think the whole movie is really clever.
- 17:14It's really funny. It hits the comedy peaks really
- 17:17well, and it hits the emotional peaks really well too.
- 17:20Yeah, definitely. And I think the whole cast is
- 17:22really great. I think they they mail their
- 17:25parts. And I'm also I'm team blurty.
- 17:28I I love them. I love them together.
- 17:30That's the only reason I could concede that maybe she needs to
- 17:34stay in the movie. Yeah, yeah, I could see them.
- 17:37Like and especially Blaine is really funny too, so I'm not.
- 17:39Really. Blake?
- 17:40Apparently, Blake, That's what I said on IMDb.
- 17:43I wrote Blaine all over my notes.
- 17:45I did too, because you told me Blaine last.
- 17:47Night, I could have just said Blaine.
- 17:48Cool hair. Could have, I don't know, Maybe
- 17:51IMDb is wrong. My God, I don't know.
- 17:53It's possible OK. Either way.
- 17:56So I'm not real. And they're like, I mean, in the
- 17:58movie you are. It's like this new way for you.
- 18:01Yeah. Yeah, you kind of nailed all the
- 18:06things I had to like the humor hitting.
- 18:08I fucking love it. This movie, it's like, I don't
- 18:11know, it's one of those that makes me actually laugh out loud
- 18:14at several moments. It's not just like one part here
- 18:17and there. Like, I consistently, especially
- 18:19Duncan's character. Yeah, Duncan is like the US
- 18:23channeled in this movie. It's like you put the horror fan
- 18:25in there and it's like some people would feel like that was
- 18:29maybe ugly. But I like seeing that mirror.
- 18:32I like seeing the reflection of myself there because it's cool.
- 18:34Like, you get the nerd out and you're like, I get it.
- 18:36Like I would be nerding the fuck out too if I was in these.
- 18:38And like I said, this is a movie written by our people and I we
- 18:42also said that we know how to laugh at ourselves and not take
- 18:45things too seriously. So true.
- 18:46I can laugh at Duncan as a mirror of us.
- 18:49Yeah, he's my favorite character.
- 18:51He. Doesn't help that he's played by
- 18:52Thomas Middleditch or it doesn't hurt that he's played by Thomas
- 18:54Middleditch. Yeah, that he's, he's an
- 18:57amazingly funny actor. Him and Adam Devine, too.
- 19:00Yeah. Apparently, like a lot of the
- 19:02scenes in this, they encourage them to do improv.
- 19:05And those two really went improv heavy with their stuff.
- 19:07And most of the stuff that's kept in there is the stuff that
- 19:10they did themselves. When we watched the blue at the
- 19:12end, which is another good point for this movie, yeah, is having
- 19:15bloopers during the end credits, and those were a lot of the ones
- 19:19you see as them just trying different line reads and things.
- 19:23Yeah, apparently that scene where he jumps over the the
- 19:26Thing and the. Velvet rope.
- 19:27Yeah, that he accidentally did that during his shoot and like,
- 19:31they decided to actually keep that in there as part of the
- 19:33movie. That's good.
- 19:35Yeah, I thought that that was good too.
- 19:36It fits the character perfectly. They're great callbacks.
- 19:40I think Billy is actually a good stand in for Jason.
- 19:42Yeah, like he they somehow managed to make him still feel
- 19:46somewhat intimidating despite this being like a very self
- 19:49aware and funny movie. Yeah, his back story is very
- 19:52much a combination of Jason for he's and what's his face in the
- 19:56burning. I can't remember the.
- 19:58Cropsy. Cropsy, yeah.
- 20:01Yeah, there's just so much good going for this movie.
- 20:04They they did a great job putting this together.
- 20:07Oh goodness. OK, what's the bad?
- 20:12I2 slight punch ups and these are very minor like dream
- 20:19scenario type things because I don't think there's a lot about
- 20:22this movie that I would like want to change yeah I would like
- 20:25to see maybe them go through a couple more scenarios in the
- 20:28movie you know cuz we see it repeat.
- 20:31It would have been nice to like, and I get that part of it is
- 20:35they had to establish like, do we think our friends are really
- 20:37dead or not? Or will they come back when the
- 20:38movie starts over? Yeah, So I get that they had to
- 20:41do that, but it would have been nice to have like a couple
- 20:43cycles through of it and see what they could do with that.
- 20:45So like, they go through the movie and it doesn't go so well,
- 20:47and then they start over and yeah, yeah.
- 20:49OK. Yeah, that could be fun, yeah.
- 20:51I also think there was potential really fun casting if it could
- 20:55have happened because our ultimate final boy, Justin Long,
- 21:00could have had an amazing cameo in this, you know what I mean?
- 21:03He'd fit in with that guy. Yeah, I think so.
- 21:05Yeah, you're right. OK.
- 21:06The the only thing that I had is they throughout the entire
- 21:12movie, they constant until closer to the end.
- 21:14They act as though everything is pretty determined and they can't
- 21:19change anything. Events have to unfold as the
- 21:21movie does. However, immediately we see
- 21:24things fall apart and start to change.
- 21:27So I thought it was strange that they all are like, But no, it's
- 21:30still got to follow the beats of the movie.
- 21:32No, it's not that movie anymore. You guys have introduced new
- 21:34characters. It's like the butterfly effect.
- 21:36Like, things are changing completely.
- 21:38Like, it was a weird thing for them to be so set on that the
- 21:42entire time until the very end, when Max is like, wait, I'm
- 21:45gonna save you, Mom. Yeah, but then she didn't.
- 21:49I mean, ultimately, everybody did have to die for her to be
- 21:51the final girl, but they still were able to change things.
- 21:55Yeah. I don't know.
- 21:57It was a weird thing, and the only other bad thing I would say
- 22:00is I wanted more Thomas Middleditch.
- 22:02I wanted more Duncan in this movie, man.
- 22:04I wanted to like, I feel like having that horror nerd, that's
- 22:07the other thing that would have overstayed its welcome.
- 22:09Yeah, that's honestly because we were there the whole time, you
- 22:13know? Yeah, exactly.
- 22:14Yeah, I wanted to see that. I feel like he would have been
- 22:16very key to a lot of planning because he's got the horror
- 22:20movie knowledge. He's like, OK, well, he
- 22:22obviously thinks this way. So like, let's do this, you know
- 22:26it. It would have been.
- 22:28It would have made it more fun. I agree.
- 22:31Yeah, I absolutely agree. All right, what's the ugly?
- 22:36OK, so them coercing Max to go to watch a movie starring her
- 22:43mom on the anniversary of her mom's death?
- 22:46I had that too. That is fucking brutal.
- 22:51I had the 1st anniversary of a parent's death this year and
- 22:56that was fucking rough. I don't know where I'll be two
- 22:59years from now, but probably not.
- 23:01Yeah, in that kind of a scenario.
- 23:04And she was still very clearly depressed.
- 23:06Yeah. So that was that was not great.
- 23:10That was not a great moment. And also Vicki being really bad
- 23:19at apologizing because I get what she was saying.
- 23:23She was trying to say like why she misses Max and she feels
- 23:27that about like everything falling apart.
- 23:29But she was like, your mom died and you got really sad, so now
- 23:34we're not friends and I feel like that's on you.
- 23:37Yeah, yeah. I get what she was trying to say
- 23:40and I guess it's probably realistic for like a 17 year old
- 23:42to not be able to word that shit correctly, but.
- 23:45There's a better way to say that.
- 23:46Yeah, like she gives Girty A genuine apology and she goes,
- 23:48Max, your mom died and it was a bummer.
- 23:52Hers is really long winded. It was front loaded with some
- 23:54bad, bad words. This is.
- 23:56Yeah. It's like how you like bad news,
- 23:58good news. That's how she handled that.
- 24:01She needs to learn the compliments hand way.
- 24:03Yeah, yeah. First of all, Max will love you.
- 24:09You fucking suck. You're you're mad that your mom
- 24:11died. Don't do that.
- 24:14You're it's like your mom died and it became everybody's
- 24:16problem. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 24:18She did not handle that well. Yeah, I had the same thing about
- 24:22pressuring her to do the show on the anniversary of the deaf.
- 24:26And then also how Kurt's character shows the ugly side of
- 24:31that era and genre. Yeah.
- 24:34That's the nasty part of that. And they leaned into and they
- 24:37acknowledged it like, Oh, yeah, he's kind of problematic.
- 24:40Kind of. Character is rapey and uses
- 24:42slurs. Yep.
- 24:44Awesome. Yeah, but that that's how the
- 24:47characters were, unfortunately. So it's it's true to.
- 24:50It's true, true to the era, but it's like it's acknowledging the
- 24:53ugliness of that. Yeah, yeah.
- 24:56And then you had somebody like Chris there to be able to put
- 24:58him in its place. My.
- 24:59Dad's are gay. He's like, you don't have two
- 25:01dads. Yeah, they're busy doing disco
- 25:04and it's actually a pretty cool lifestyle.
- 25:07And I was like foreshadowing. Yeah, Daddy, Daddy.
- 25:15OK. And absurd.
- 25:18OK, so I think one of the good things that they did about the
- 25:21casting is that they made the movie teens obviously older than
- 25:25the actual teens. Yeah, yeah.
- 25:27But they still are very young looking, you know what I mean?
- 25:31I looked up the mom and she was like 3738.
- 25:37OK, yeah. I just think it's funny that in
- 25:40like modern time, to make her look older than she would have
- 25:44been the movie they gave her a bun.
- 25:47They did, yeah. That was that was their aging
- 25:51effect for her. The one that looks, well, the
- 25:55one that looked the closest to their age, I would say is Tina.
- 26:00She's seen actually like a teen. That's the energy she has.
- 26:05She's also in the Good Place and.
- 26:08Is she in the good place? She is Eleanor's roommate, she's
- 26:11a dress bitch, and when she finds out that Eleanor and the
- 26:15other roommates sold the dress bitch shirt, she goes I
- 26:18literally hate you forever. She's a good actor.
- 26:22She's really a good actor. Because I would love to see her
- 26:24and wear things, but I love her character in this.
- 26:27Yeah, yeah. She's great in this.
- 26:30She's absurd. I don't fucking know.
- 26:37It's bad to say, but man, that they were asking for a car crash
- 26:41at the beginning of the movie with the way that mom is
- 26:44driving, there were so many scenes of her just like keeping
- 26:48eye contact with Max and just driving the entire time.
- 26:51So stressful. It really is.
- 26:53You know something's bad, like bad's going to happen, but it's
- 26:55not really because she was that distracted.
- 26:57I mean she was a little bit, but it was because like a spill or
- 27:00something or she dropped papers or some shit.
- 27:02Max dropped like her coffee or whatever drink she had on her
- 27:05head shots. And that's what I did.
- 27:07Yeah, she was like, Max, those are really expensive.
- 27:09And she's like, still trying to act and.
- 27:12Yeah, but she just, the entire time, she's just like, that's
- 27:16one of those things that I can't stand with movies is like when
- 27:18they have conversations like that and then they have to like
- 27:22have eye contact while they're driving.
- 27:24Like that's not realistic. And that's not how that goes.
- 27:27Yeah. It's really weird.
- 27:29There'll be a lot of times that I'll be chuckling at something
- 27:31on my phone in the car and you'll be like, all right, show
- 27:33me the stop light. Yeah, you try and show me.
- 27:36And then when I try and show you I'll be watching the stop light
- 27:38to make sure nothing turns green.
- 27:40Yeah, OK. Let's rate it now.
- 27:44OK. I think this is just, it's a
- 27:46really solid movie. It's a really fun time.
- 27:49It doesn't feel like it even lasts an hour and a half.
- 27:52No. And I just, I want more of it.
- 27:55I want more of it. I'm going to give it an 8 1/2.
- 27:58I'm going to give it a 9. I feel the same way, man.
- 28:00I feel really, really strongly about this movie.
- 28:02It's the one that surprised me. I didn't think that I would love
- 28:04it as much as I did. But then we watched it last
- 28:06October. Not this past one, but the one
- 28:09before. And yeah, I had a great time.
- 28:12It was really fun. It was really good.
- 28:14Yeah. All right.
- 28:15So let's get into it then. Yeah, we open up with a trailer
- 28:21for Camp Bloodbath and I just wrote down because instead of
- 28:27singing Kumbaya, they'll be singing Kumba, No.
- 28:34Should have been kumba na. Na, as a Tommy Wiseau, yeah.
- 28:41Yeah, it's Max. She's watching the trailer on
- 28:44her phone in the car. She's waiting for her mom to get
- 28:47back in there. Her mom comes back in.
- 28:48She must have had an audition or something.
- 28:50Yeah, casting call of some sort. And she says the casting
- 28:53director only recognizes her from Camp Bloodbath.
- 28:55And she was like, never do a slasher.
- 28:58Well, I don't understand that. That doesn't.
- 28:59So that's like hurting her career.
- 29:00Like, oh, I recognize you in a movie.
- 29:02You're just not going to be good for this one.
- 29:04It it can definitely lead to a type testing type of situation.
- 29:08Yeah. I guess it depends on what your
- 29:10career aspirations are. See, The thing is, I guess she
- 29:13wanted to be a big star. She didn't want to be doing
- 29:15genre films like porn or anything like that.
- 29:17Because The thing is, if you like, she seems like a very
- 29:20established, loved actor based off, yeah, based off of like,
- 29:24Duncan's whole thing. Like she's we're going to get
- 29:27the daughter of her. You do that, that means the
- 29:29person is like a big deal. She's one that like I could see
- 29:33like analysis care for us and everybody go wrong.
- 29:35Yeah, exactly. Yeah, Like it's somebody that
- 29:37would be cast in a lot of horror movies if they wanted to.
- 29:40The opportunities are always there.
- 29:43So this is kind of sad because they are driving and Max is
- 29:49worried about bills and like, she's trying to figure out how
- 29:51they're going to come up with this money.
- 29:53And meanwhile, mom is just like, yeah, so he's, but he was going
- 29:56to take me to Palm Springs, but then I haven't heard from him
- 29:59for three days. And she throws the bill out the
- 30:01window. And so like, that's our
- 30:04electricity bill. That was in Egypt.
- 30:07It's so weird Max is being the adult.
- 30:10Yeah, and it's it's makes me sad for Max.
- 30:12I know, right? It's not a it's not an awesome
- 30:15dynamic to have cuz like their daughter relationship.
- 30:18Then the reality sets in like Oh well I thought the bill is at
- 30:21the window. Fuck, what do we do?
- 30:24Also, realistically, it's 2015, they can pay their bills online.
- 30:28Yeah, we pay all our bills online.
- 30:30That's true, That's true. But either way, they're
- 30:33distracted. They're jamming at the Betty
- 30:34Davis size. Which is a straight bop.
- 30:37That is the correct song to always be lip syncing too.
- 30:40Yeah, and well, not in this time because it is causing a ruckus
- 30:45in the car. You can lip sync without taking
- 30:48your eyes off the road. I'm not condoning her unsafe
- 30:50driving, I'm just saying you can jam out because ask me how I
- 30:54know. Did I maybe jam out to Betty
- 30:56Davis? I was on my way home from work
- 30:58yesterday. Maybe, maybe, maybe, probably.
- 31:01I didn't wreck. Because I wasn't there with the
- 31:05coffee. That's true, you're spilling it
- 31:07on my expensive shit. Yeah, yeah, she's got a coffee
- 31:10there and she spills it all over the head shots, causes a whole
- 31:13thing. It's a like cuz it's a split
- 31:16second thing. She looks down, she goes Max.
- 31:18Those are really expensive. She drifts just enough for
- 31:20another car to like clip them and they hit some like
- 31:22construction and flip like a million times.
- 31:25This part's a little jarring because it goes full CG.
- 31:27Yeah. It is a little bit strange.
- 31:30I also feel like they probably didn't have enough momentum to
- 31:32flip that many times. No, this is like a fucking
- 31:35NASCAR wreck. Right.
- 31:36Yeah. This is like sheets of metal
- 31:37just flying through. The air final destination.
- 31:40Yeah, it really is. Yeah.
- 31:41Digging, digging, digging. OK, Three years later she wakes
- 31:50up. Aunt Pearl's telling Max that
- 31:52Gertie's there to pick her up, and Gertie has taken her to a
- 31:55study session with Chris so they can study for their classics
- 31:58class. Yeah, she's really, really
- 32:02pushing a relationship between the two of them here hard.
- 32:06I mean, and she is correct because Max definitely has the
- 32:09hots for Chris and Chris, yeah, he's like, she's like he broke
- 32:13up with Vicki. So they're at a diner, they're
- 32:17doing, they're studying and homework together.
- 32:20Enters Duncan in all kinds of chaos.
- 32:24Super super. It's a very Cramer entrance.
- 32:27Yeah, it is. Yeah, he is like super excited
- 32:29because Max is there and he's got a camp bloodbath showing for
- 32:34one and two. Yes, the theater.
- 32:37The fans call themselves mathematicians.
- 32:39I fucking. Love it.
- 32:40Yeah, love it. That's great.
- 32:44Gertie thinks it's nerdy. Also, she so that Duncan is
- 32:50Gertie's stepbrother. And that's how he finds out that
- 32:54Max is Amanda Cartwright's daughter.
- 32:57And he was like, please come to the showing tonight.
- 32:59And she's like, absolutely not. Are you fucking insane?
- 33:01He goes, I will do all of your homework and essays for your
- 33:04classics class. Gertie also told me you're
- 33:06failing. Yeah, they.
- 33:08She's like Gertie, close your fucking mouth around Duncan.
- 33:10They caught one of the scenes that I thought living hilarious
- 33:13here isn't the, like, the credits where he looks over at
- 33:17Chris is like, Chris, I'd barely know you, so stop with the
- 33:21familiarity. Yeah.
- 33:24I wish that that was left in here because that's so fucking
- 33:26funny. But yeah.
- 33:29OK. So he's got her on board.
- 33:31We cut to the theater. Max is crossing the street with
- 33:35Gerdie. Yeah, and they run into Chris.
- 33:38And she's like, oh, what are you doing here?
- 33:40He goes. Well, I just figured it would be
- 33:42a rough time for you and you could use some support.
- 33:46Oh yeah, and Gerdie's like, OK, I'm gonna go get some popcorn.
- 33:51You guys stand on the sidewalk? Dude, I have done that.
- 33:55Depends on the past. Oh yeah, I'm like, yeah, I'm
- 33:57like, I want you guys to make out, so I'm gonna get out of the
- 33:59way. That's a that's a solid move
- 34:01right there. Yeah.
- 34:02So they're standing in front of the poster and it's got her mom
- 34:06right there front and center. So they started talking about
- 34:08her a little bit, and Max is still not really wanting to talk
- 34:10about it too much. Yeah.
- 34:12So they had inside. Oh, wait, no, no.
- 34:14Vicky pulls up with her boyfriend.
- 34:17Kind. Of Kya send yeah like literally
- 34:20she just has him for a drive by because she like dismisses him
- 34:24so that way she can try and flirt with Chris when I get
- 34:26inside. Why do you put up with this man?
- 34:29Have some self respect. It's funny because they go in
- 34:32and she's like, yeah, no, I've just been so busy, like with
- 34:34college applications, I had to submit ones for my safety
- 34:37schools. Cornell, Like, OK, Vicky, we get
- 34:41in. She's like, of course, I take so
- 34:43much Adderall, like I can't afford the time to sleep.
- 34:47And they're like, where's Tyson? And she's like, oh, he had a
- 34:49stomach ache. He had to go.
- 34:51Yeah, yeah. So they're inside now.
- 34:54There's a little bit of shit going on between Chris and Vicki
- 34:58there. She's clearly not over him.
- 35:00Yeah, no, she's kind of desperate.
- 35:03Yeah. And he was like, did you see on
- 35:05my social media that I was going to be here tonight?
- 35:07And she goes, no, I don't check your Twitter.
- 35:10By the way, you've lost 3 followers.
- 35:13So they go inside, everybody's watching the movie looks like a
- 35:16real fun time. Way cooler than the audience we
- 35:19went to see Evil Dead with who got mad at us enjoying watching
- 35:22the Evil Dead. It's a very much like find the
- 35:26audience type thing. Yes.
- 35:27Yeah. Like this is a very.
- 35:30It's a packed theater. Everybody is into this movie.
- 35:33Yeah. We get one guy, he is sparking
- 35:36up a cigarette, probably a joint really, if I'm going to be real.
- 35:39Yeah, I feel like you don't spark up a cigarette.
- 35:42There's only one word that can finish that sentence, and it's
- 35:44not cigarettes. It's true, that's true.
- 35:47He sparks it up. Meanwhile there's a guy in the
- 35:49back that is drinking some booze and he drops the bottle and it
- 35:54goes rolling down the little slope.
- 35:56Meanwhile the guy's ash just happens to go towards the
- 36:00forest. I'm.
- 36:00Just going to say that guy in the back drinking the liquor
- 36:03doesn't seem like he'd be a clear liquor guy.
- 36:06No, but you know, it's a little. Bit surprising to me.
- 36:07That's what I'm saying clear. Liquor's for everybody, man.
- 36:10I agree. Some people think it's not.
- 36:12That's some people think they're too good for clear liquor.
- 36:15That's kind of a dumb thought, the.
- 36:17Clear liquor Clear liquor is for rich women on diets.
- 36:20Who says that? Ron Swanson.
- 36:22Oh, OK. Well, Ron is wrong about a lot
- 36:25of things. That's true.
- 36:26Yeah. Anyways, the ash hits the little
- 36:30bit of alcohol that has poured out and holy shit the entire
- 36:33theaters in flames. It was very cheap vodka.
- 36:36Yeah, that's what this plan was. Fucked.
- 36:38Yeah. And yeah, So there's like a big
- 36:40fire. Max had been, like, trying to go
- 36:42outside to get some air because she knew it was close to her
- 36:45mom's death scene gets blocked by the fire.
- 36:48So she runs back to her friends and all of the exits are
- 36:50blocked. They asked Duncan, is there an
- 36:52exit behind the screen? Yes.
- 36:53Somebody has dropped their toy like their.
- 36:56Machete. Real machete, because it slices
- 36:58through the screen. Yeah, somebody brought a real
- 37:01fucking machete to us. That that.
- 37:02Trash not well controlled. Yeah, I mean, we've got joints
- 37:06and like handles of booze, so. Yeah.
- 37:10Right. Like a real machete.
- 37:11That's yeah. This theater does not give a
- 37:14book. No, they're like, bring your
- 37:15weapons, bring your booze, bring your drugs.
- 37:17We yeah, encourage it all. It's a great time for everyone.
- 37:21Yeah. Yeah.
- 37:23So they go into the screen and then they all show up in these
- 37:26like it's almost, almost, not quite because the beginning part
- 37:30was in color as well, but this feels very much like Dorothy
- 37:34waking up in ounces, and there's so much color everywhere.
- 37:37They mentioned that the script called for it to be like a very
- 37:41like Technicolor entrance and they.
- 37:44They achieved that. They didn't mean for it to
- 37:46actually be like that, though. Apparently they were surprised
- 37:48whenever they went on and said, like guys, it's not supposed to
- 37:50actually be this colorful. Right.
- 37:52I love it because it also is very unrealistic for how Woods
- 37:57would look. And I'm like this is great.
- 37:58This is an over decorated set and it fits the cheesiness.
- 38:02I think, well, they keep the IT almost feels like they keep the
- 38:05look the entire time because like they color grade it hard.
- 38:08Yes, since they're in the movie. I love it.
- 38:10Yeah, yeah, it's, it's got a lot more look and.
- 38:12Feel to. It So they are just kind of
- 38:15wandering around in the woods and meanwhile they hear the song
- 38:19and they see the van come by. It's a Mickey.
- 38:22The song. Yeah.
- 38:23Yeah. Hey, Mickey.
- 38:24You're so fine. You're so fine.
- 38:25You're a little man. Hey, Mickey and Mickey.
- 38:29Yeah, and it is Kurt and Tina in the van, and they pull up right
- 38:34beside them like, hey, do you guys know where camp?
- 38:37Bluefinch. Yeah, Bluefinch is.
- 38:39Yeah, and. Well, at first they're just like
- 38:42and they're like, OK. I love Adam Devine's like
- 38:48reaction. His character is so fucking
- 38:53funny in this movie. So they drive fast, and then 92
- 38:56minutes later we hear and they pull up and they're like, hey,
- 39:02do you know the way to Camp Bluefench?
- 39:04And they're like. And Chris goes, yeah, just keep
- 39:08driving the way you're going. Oh, cool.
- 39:11Thanks. And Duncan goes tubular.
- 39:14Yeah. 92 minutes later, again, Song queued up again, but this
- 39:19time Duncan's like, hey, yeah, we're counselors, but you know,
- 39:23we'll show you how to get there if you let us get in the van and
- 39:25give us a ride, too. Although they're in the van and
- 39:29Kurt goes where's your luggage? Yeah, he's like, you guys are
- 39:33dressed weird. Are you poor?
- 39:35Are you guys pores? Are you?
- 39:36Poor, yeah. Underprivileged.
- 39:39And then Tina, like, fully, like, debunking everything.
- 39:42She goes, wow, you've never had this many counselors before.
- 39:45Yeah. And then?
- 39:47Which feels very much like you think back to Friday the 13th,
- 39:51Part 1 versus Part 2. How many counselors are involved
- 39:55in setting up the camp? Yeah, it's like after a fucking
- 39:59tragedy it double S like what the fuck?
- 40:01That does not track the. Camp tuition probably got a lot
- 40:05cheaper. That's true, actually, right?
- 40:07Yeah, so we see in the back Nancy, who is Max's mom, Yes.
- 40:14Comes up and she wakes up from her dream and it's a very, very
- 40:17big moment for Max. So she's having a weird, weird
- 40:19time. Her giant sad eyes just, like,
- 40:22dripping tears. Yeah, heartbreaking.
- 40:26Which Meanwhile, Duncan says something about Tina getting
- 40:29naked later and she goes, Oh my God, how did you know he goes,
- 40:33is this spring break? Yeah, Spring break forever,
- 40:37Yeah. Duncan is way too excited about
- 40:44all of this happening. Yeah.
- 40:46He's too geeked out. He's sees no sense of danger.
- 40:49He thinks he's invincible. Well, because he knows how
- 40:52everything's going to play out. So like, I like his ideal age.
- 40:55Like, let's stick with the final girl.
- 40:56It's the best seats in the House.
- 41:00Yeah, listen, I want everybody to understand Travis is going to
- 41:03keep laughing at Duncan being cold like this, and I need a
- 41:06good example of why. So he watched Jurassic Park for
- 41:09the first time ever last weekend.
- 41:11And you know when the little kid is on the fence and meanwhile
- 41:15they're getting the electricity going back and so the kid is
- 41:18electrocuted and everybody thinks that he's died because
- 41:20that's like 10,000 volts of fucking whatever in an 80 LB
- 41:23body. Travis just.
- 41:25He laughed like this the whole time.
- 41:27I laughed hard. Yeah.
- 41:29And that shit was funny. Like the kid, just the kid had
- 41:33it coming. They told him my kid, get the
- 41:35fuck off there. It's electric.
- 41:37And he's like. No scared, it was a pirate and
- 41:40he was being chased by Tyrannosaurus Rexus.
- 41:43Even more reason to just get the fuck off that fence.
- 41:46He. Had no reason to think the
- 41:47electricity was going to come back on.
- 41:49That shit was funny. I don't care.
- 41:51All right, so they arrive at the camp, they get the title card,
- 41:55which is cool. I like how all this stuff
- 41:56actually plays out. Like them stepping over it.
- 41:58Yeah. And none of the, like,
- 42:00characters see it. They're like, we should just
- 42:03take the van and go. The movie's gonna reset for them
- 42:06anyway. We need to find a way out of
- 42:08here. So they ask Kurt for the keys to
- 42:11the van. They're like, can we borrow it?
- 42:13And he's like, if we do it. And she was like, you know, no,
- 42:17I love it. So he he was like fine, you can
- 42:19take the van if you can find the keys and he chucks them into the
- 42:21fields. Oh, I thought dung is like Kurt
- 42:24is insatiable. And he's like, hey man, burn me
- 42:28and he goes go suck a turd. Yeah.
- 42:34It's Go. The Bright and suck.
- 42:36Yeah, that's like an actual Adam of the line right there.
- 42:41You can tell. You can.
- 42:43I like how you can see the individual people come through
- 42:45in this movie. Yeah, I feel like they probably
- 42:47did a bunch of takes of that one and wound up with the ghost
- 42:50secretary because that's, I mean, of those dumb.
- 42:54Yeah, it's perfect. That you would hear in a movie
- 42:57like that. Yeah, so he tosses the keys so
- 43:00they go searching for it and. Max goes to help Nancy put some
- 43:03signs up on the board and she was like, well, I'm gonna lose
- 43:06my virginity this summer. And Max is like, don't do that.
- 43:09And she goes, no. Tina said that the best feeling
- 43:12in the world is getting high and having sex on her bed.
- 43:15Yeah, pieces reference everybody.
- 43:17It's so. Fun.
- 43:18I love it. That's how you know that these
- 43:19people are true. Yes, OK, so the real counselors
- 43:24are starting to kind of get suspicious because they're like,
- 43:27this is really weird. We don't have these counselors
- 43:31on our roster. Kurt says that their hair is so
- 43:35flat. Yeah, it makes me sad.
- 43:40Meanwhile, the rest, they've Duncan came and got Max, so
- 43:43everybody from the real world is out there searching for the
- 43:46keys. And then they spot one of the
- 43:49characters, one of the opening kills.
- 43:51Yeah, has entered. Yeah, she's entered the scene.
- 43:53She's a hitchhiker. Like you said last night.
- 43:56She seems very much like a reference to the banana girl on
- 43:58Friday 13th. And then we get the dude from
- 44:03Friday 13th Chapter 4 or Part 4 final chapter that is like the
- 44:08hitchhiker dude looking for his sister sibling, I can't
- 44:12remember. His character name in the
- 44:15credits is Hunky Hiker. Yeah, hunky hiker.
- 44:18Yeah, and then they are about to have.
- 44:20Sex. Yeah, they have a very soft core
- 44:21scene. Yeah, and like, Duncans, like
- 44:24here, this is the best part. Let's just stay right here and
- 44:26watch. This is gonna happen.
- 44:28So they all like hunker down beneath a fallen tree and
- 44:31they're watching and then Billy shows up because about to have
- 44:34sex. Everybody that has sex in this
- 44:35movie dies. That's the rules, and they die.
- 44:39Yep. And then Duncan wants to get a
- 44:41selfie with Billy, and Billy comes really close to him and
- 44:44then walks away. He's like, see, we can't get
- 44:46killed because we're not part of the movie.
- 44:47Billy doesn't know what to do with us and then all of a sudden
- 44:50a machete hits him in the side. Side.
- 44:52Yep. So they go running and they make
- 44:56it back to the camp, but they keep trying to run.
- 44:59But because they keep trying to run, they keeps repeating the
- 45:02scene. Yeah, it's like Pac-Man.
- 45:03Yeah, yeah, very much. OK, so the movie is not letting
- 45:07them leave, is what they realized.
- 45:09So they're sitting in a singing circle.
- 45:11Gertie's freaking out because Duncan's dead and she wants to
- 45:14warn everybody else that there's a killer on the loose.
- 45:16Vicki's like we need to go find weapons and Max just wants to go
- 45:19home. This is when Paula arrives.
- 45:22Yeah, Paula's the final girl in the movie.
- 45:24She doesn't give final girl energy.
- 45:26It really feels like it's Nancy that would.
- 45:28Have been the final girl, so their plan is that they're going
- 45:31to try and stick with Paula because I know she's the final
- 45:33girl and then that way they survive until the end and then
- 45:36they can leave the movie maybe. They assign each other to
- 45:38different characters to try and keep them from like having sex
- 45:41to keep Billy from coming around.
- 45:43Yeah, and Max says something about wanting to try and help
- 45:45Nancy and Vicky's like, Oh my God, she's not your mom, you
- 45:48need to drop it. Yeah, so fucking.
- 45:50Harsh. Yeah, so we have Chris is with
- 45:54Kurt, Gertie is with Blaine, Not Blaine, Blake with Blake.
- 45:59Now he. Feels like a Blaine though.
- 46:00Yeah, he does. Blaine seems like a better name
- 46:02for him. I'm going to keep calling him
- 46:03Blaine. OK.
- 46:04Max is with Nancy and Vicki is with Tina and Paulo.
- 46:07Yeah, Tina. Tina is talking to Vicki and
- 46:10Vicki is like trying to take her Adderall.
- 46:12Yeah, yeah. She's trying to like, just tell
- 46:14her they were like sugar pills or something like that.
- 46:16I don't know. She, she tries to lie to her
- 46:18about it. Chris and Kurt are having like a
- 46:20talk and they're talking about like he's talking about having
- 46:23sex with all of the ladies. There.
- 46:24Yeah. And he's like, wow, is that
- 46:27actually fun for you? He goes, what are you?
- 46:30And he goes, hey, that kind of language is not cool.
- 46:32My dad's are gay and he was like 2 men.
- 46:35Can't have a kid. Yeah, what you said at the
- 46:38beginning is really gross, but I'm glad that they put in Chris
- 46:41being like, hey, no, this type of like statement is not cool.
- 46:45Yeah, I mean, I also do like his responses, like they're too busy
- 46:48doing disco and having sex and it's actually a really cool
- 46:50life, so. I wish Chris had been like,
- 46:52maybe we do all that as a family.
- 46:53Yeah, not the sex, but the like disco.
- 46:56Yeah. Max goes to stop Nancy from
- 46:58having sex with Chris. She hears the they do the exact
- 47:02Jason. They do that.
- 47:04Yeah, and she hears that, so she's like, oh, no, somebody's
- 47:07about to have sex. And she thinks she knows it's
- 47:08her mom because that scene's coming up.
- 47:10Yeah. So she runs up to the room, and
- 47:12she finds her. And she's like Kurt said that he
- 47:14likes me. And she goes so nice people say
- 47:16things that they don't actually mean.
- 47:18And then they have like a heart to heart and she.
- 47:20Says the same thing that her mom said in real life, like, oh, you
- 47:23must think I'm a total 0 based off of that same conversation.
- 47:26Yeah yeah. And then inner Kurt with his
- 47:29pants already down and he's like having his like creepy come
- 47:36online and they both go, oh. Yeah, so then we hear Gertie
- 47:43scream. No, Chris comes in and Chris
- 47:47also. Hears Chris is like Carter.
- 47:48I told you to leave them alone and then they hear this.
- 47:50Scream. Yeah, then Gertie screams from
- 47:52the Eugene Levy mask. Yes.
- 47:54And so everybody runs downstairs and they're like, it's Billy.
- 47:58And everyone's like Billy and Nancy's like, oh, the legend of
- 48:01Billy Murphy. And when she says that, our real
- 48:06world people are pulled into the flashback.
- 48:08Yeah, it's like little fucking drips just hitting from the top
- 48:12here, and it turns into the 1950s.
- 48:14Black and white, they're all transported there.
- 48:20So it's the whole story of how Billy came to be here in the
- 48:22voice over of Nancy the entire time, and then they're
- 48:26transported back to present day. Yeah, and because they had
- 48:29witnessed Billy murder 8 counselors, 30s covered in
- 48:34blood. So the movie counselors and just
- 48:39watch these people disappear and come back covered in blood and
- 48:42they're freaking out. And then this is where they have
- 48:44to like explain to them like, hey, you're all movie
- 48:47characters. So they they can't leave.
- 48:51They're like, this is a problem. This is what you know what we
- 48:53need to do. Paula and Kurt freak out.
- 48:56They get in Paula's car. They start to drive off.
- 48:58As they're driving, Duncan comes out.
- 49:01He's. Like wait, guys, I'm.
- 49:02On and then he gets hit by the car.
- 49:05Yeah, he gets hit by the car, it causes Paula to crash, which
- 49:09throws Kurt through the windshield, and he has a very
- 49:12final. Destination.
- 49:12It's a final destination, yes, like the fifth one, the one in
- 49:15the gym. Yep, Yep, very similar to that.
- 49:18And Paula dies from the car exploding, yes.
- 49:21Yep, it's a full Ben Traeger moment when Duncan has.
- 49:24Hit. Yeah, yeah, very.
- 49:26So they're back inside the camp house.
- 49:29They are talking about the final girl rule.
- 49:31Somebody's gotta be a final girl cuz the final girl died.
- 49:33And Vicky's like, all right, I'll do it.
- 49:36Like, you have to be a virgin. They're like, the only real
- 49:39version here is Max. And Nancy's like, well, I never
- 49:42slept with Kurt. So she's like, I wanna be more
- 49:45than just a shy girl with the guitar in the clipboard.
- 49:47You know, it's true. Why didn't she?
- 49:49She could have been the final girl here.
- 49:51Yeah. It's weird that they didn't.
- 49:52They wouldn't allow it. They have a plan.
- 49:56Basically, they need to figure out how they're gonna lure Billy
- 49:58there and get the machete, because Paula uses his machete
- 50:01to behead him. I love, I love that as a rule,
- 50:03like you have to use his weapon. Yes.
- 50:06So they develop Operation Booby Trap as they're getting things
- 50:11prepared, sharpening sticks and what not.
- 50:13Vicki's crying, She says I'm the mean girl in past the midpoint
- 50:18in an 80s horror movie. I'm not long for this world.
- 50:22And she apologizes to Gertie for being a bully.
- 50:25And then she tells Max that she really owes her an apology for
- 50:30being depressed when her mom dies.
- 50:31Like I'm I'm apologizing as a formality, but really you should
- 50:35be sorry to me. Do you have anything to say Max?
- 50:38Max. Max, anything you want to add?
- 50:41Yeah, maybe you weren't a good friend.
- 50:45Maybe you shouldn't have gotten some clothes and Gurney.
- 50:48Maybe you shouldn't have spilled the coffee.
- 50:50That would have been bad. I always told you not to drink
- 50:53coffee in the CarMax. That would have been harsh.
- 50:57I could see Vicki saying some shit like that.
- 50:58I could too. So yeah, during all this, Tina
- 51:02has found the Adderall bottle and she gets into them.
- 51:06She she really does. They get back to the cabin.
- 51:09She has been taped up. She's got like an extra sweater,
- 51:13a life jacket, Yeah, oven mitts taped to her, and she's got rain
- 51:17boots on over her. Socks.
- 51:18They're like, she's like why are you doing this?
- 51:20Like because you are like the person that takes her clothes
- 51:23off all the time. She's like, why does he hate my
- 51:25boobs? Probably because they're small.
- 51:30And then so they get back and they're like, how are we going
- 51:33to do this? She goes, no, I got this, and
- 51:36then she does the most frantic striptease I've ever seen.
- 51:39Before that, though, Nancy gave Max a friendship bracelet.
- 51:43They had a little heart to heart again.
- 51:44Yeah, and. She tells her all about her mom.
- 51:47Yeah, yeah, All right. So it's game time Max.
- 51:51Is like come on with me. Yeah, yeah.
- 51:53They're like, OK, we're going to change the rules.
- 51:55Now, the way that this would work out, she wants her to be
- 52:03her mom. Yeah, but they are like the same
- 52:08age now. I have a feeling that once they
- 52:10got back, they would be friends, not mom, and she would maybe
- 52:13want to still pursue like all of her other dreams and stuff like
- 52:16that and be a completely. She's a completely different
- 52:18person. She's a character in the movie.
- 52:19She's not her mom. It's like in Scream Queens when
- 52:23Chanel number six calls Chanel Oberlin a mommy friend.
- 52:30Yeah, yeah, yeah. But anyways, it wouldn't shake
- 52:32out the way I think she's hoping it would.
- 52:36No. Long term it wouldn't go.
- 52:37It would go sideways eventually I think.
- 52:39Yeah, 'cause like, oh cool, now I suddenly have an 18 year old
- 52:44daughter and I live in a completely different world and
- 52:46I've got bills. This is.
- 52:48And it's also a completely different timeline.
- 52:50Like what the fuck is the Internet?
- 52:52Yeah, yeah. That's this is a lot to adjust
- 52:54to. Yeah, so OK, it's game time.
- 52:57Tina's tweaking hard right now. Yeah, but like Jesse said, she
- 53:01gives the most frantic striptease ever.
- 53:04Billy approaches as soon as the boobies come out and Tina gets
- 53:09freaked out and tries to run and she trips over a thing and falls
- 53:12right into the bear trap and dies.
- 53:15Poor sweet little dummy. Yeah, but that's OK, They still
- 53:18have the plan in place for Billy.
- 53:20He walks through the front door. Because luckily these people
- 53:23like our characters, our real world characters, know enough
- 53:26about horror movies to be like, we gotta like we've seen
- 53:29scooby-doo. We gotta have multiple plans.
- 53:31Yeah, I mean, she showed her boobs.
- 53:32She's gonna die. That's just the rules of the
- 53:34movie here. But yeah, they have like this
- 53:37little blog or whatever, like tied up to the top and they cut
- 53:42the tie and it goes and it swings down and hits him up
- 53:44against a bunch of spikes in the wall.
- 53:46Yeah, so he's hung up, and then this.
- 53:48Is all Shaw really cool too as the camera moves during this
- 53:50whole sequence really nice? And then Blaine's like, screw
- 53:53it. And he goes and he kisses Gertie
- 53:56and it's a really nice moment. And then Billy's still alive and
- 53:59he kills. Blaine kills him, just stabs him
- 54:01in the tummy. So then they shoot flaming
- 54:04arrows at him and they all run upstairs.
- 54:07As they get up there, he comes through the door, knocks over a
- 54:10bookcase on top of Gertie and Vicki and.
- 54:14They have flaps them both. They have, yeah.
- 54:16They have a bucket up top filled with gasoline that's supposed to
- 54:19just completely ignite him, but they get trapped.
- 54:22So they're they realize they're going to have to be a sacrifice.
- 54:25So they tell Max, Chris, and Nancy to run while they can.
- 54:29Yeah, they climb up the window. They had a ladder set up out
- 54:32there, so they're out there now. Gas pores, cabins on fiber,
- 54:36fiber, fiber. Fire, Fire, Fire, fire, fire,
- 54:40fire, fire. Yep.
- 54:42Jesus. And so they start running, but
- 54:46Billy jumps out. Dude, that shot.
- 54:48Isn't too slow. Yeah, like what's happening?
- 54:52This is so fucking cool. The way that they shot that, the
- 54:55way he jumps out. I love it.
- 54:58And I've heard actors talk about this, how hard it is to do slow
- 55:02MO because, you know, it's slow MO, but the camera work does the
- 55:05slow MO. You as a person, you gotta do
- 55:08normal. Yeah, you need to do normal.
- 55:10But I can't. In my head I'm trying to imagine
- 55:13running and knowing it's gonna be slow MO and I feel myself
- 55:16yeah, like having the urge to do it slower than normal.
- 55:19Yeah, I feel it too. Yeah, it's gotta be weird.
- 55:21Yeah, I also they realize that they're still in swimmer this
- 55:24whole time, and I feel like that would also fuck with your
- 55:28reaction time. Yeah, I've gotta make this jump
- 55:30cut. They're at a point when they're
- 55:31running so. It kind of to me it almost feels
- 55:34like Mario rules. So you know, if you're going
- 55:36slow, it feels like it's a low gravity situation.
- 55:38So you could jump over this Creek, except the slow most
- 55:40stops as they're over tops with the Creek and then they splash
- 55:44in and they're like, no. And then she goes Nancy tell the
- 55:47story about Billy again, so we get another flashback.
- 55:51Yep, this shit just strips down and they have brought Billy back
- 55:54into the flashback too. He gets hit by the.
- 55:56Car and Nancy this time. And Nancy, yeah, everybody's
- 55:59back. Yeah, yeah, they get hit by
- 56:01Billy, gets hit by the car of like, the kids pulling up in the
- 56:04scene. Yeah, yeah.
- 56:05The whole thing plays out and. They see young Billy running to
- 56:08an unknown cab and Nancy's like, I've never seen this part of
- 56:11camp before. So now they know that there's
- 56:14another place to be looking for for things.
- 56:17Yeah, Billy's there too. They he's also made the same
- 56:20decision as. Them yeah, he's following them
- 56:22so they end the flashback real quickly and.
- 56:25They come back into their present day, Billy's gone so
- 56:29they think they're safe, but then he just reappears
- 56:31immediately. Then he stabs Chris and grabs
- 56:34Nancy and walks away. So Max takes Chris to this old
- 56:37church. And Chris, you know, is saying,
- 56:40please don't leave me alone. I don't want to die alone.
- 56:41Nancy is not real. She's a character in a movie.
- 56:44And Max is like, no, I know where he's going.
- 56:47I got this. Yeah, I get it.
- 56:49Because, I mean, yeah, it's the truth that she doesn't want to
- 56:53hear, but it's the truth. Yeah, so she goes to the cabin
- 56:57and she finds Nancy tied up and she starts to untire, and of
- 57:00course Billy comes in. So they all start fighting this.
- 57:02Kind of felt madman to me because he, she comes in there
- 57:06and he's got like all of the bodies, like hung up on like the
- 57:09rack or whatever. Yeah, that's how it is at the
- 57:11end of Madman. It also feels very like Michael
- 57:14Myers. Yeah, that's that's true too.
- 57:16Yeah, that flamboyant little himbo loves to set up like a
- 57:21horror. Process.
- 57:22It's a little tricky. Yeah, that's true.
- 57:24Yeah. So they have their little
- 57:26showdown and Nancy actually saves Max.
- 57:29Yeah, she stabs Billy with the machete.
- 57:31And so they go running. They get to the church and Max
- 57:36is hurt. She was hurt during the fight
- 57:38and she got stabbed. And they're like, why are we
- 57:40still here? And she was like, because I'm
- 57:41still alive, there can't be two final girls.
- 57:43And she was like, no, she goes, no, listen, I want to do this
- 57:45for you. She was like, it's OK.
- 57:47And she goes out and she is dancing and singing to Betty
- 57:51Davis, eyes and stripping as she does it.
- 57:53Yep, and this gets the ability to show up.
- 57:56I like the setting. Before she goes out there, Max
- 57:58tells her the truth, though. She's like Mom.
- 58:01Yeah, that's so sad. Yeah, yeah, but it doesn't
- 58:06matter. She gets killed by Billy.
- 58:09Yeah, she gets to kind of say goodbye.
- 58:10She never got to say to her mom, though.
- 58:12That's true, she gets some form of closure.
- 58:14Yeah, yeah. So when Nancy is killed, Max
- 58:18wakes up and she's got enough, like, movie magic energy to grab
- 58:22the machete, fight Billy, and then she beheads him.
- 58:25Yep. And Chris limps out and they see
- 58:29the credits are rolling on the horizon.
- 58:31That's really cool. That was really cool.
- 58:33I like that a lot, yeah. Like I would love to watch a
- 58:36sunrise with you with credit. Rolling.
- 58:39Yeah, that would be amazing. That would be so cool.
- 58:41Babe, why don't we ever do anything romantic?
- 58:45I would love. We'll get a projector.
- 58:48I just put it up in the sky. We'll make it happen.
- 58:50OK. OK, yeah, so the real now starts
- 58:54to end. They're at the very end.
- 58:56It's like the R rating the anti piracy shit and then like the
- 58:59real is actually burning out and now like they're going through
- 59:02this weird transition. It's like the universe has
- 59:04collapsed. Yeah, everything goes white.
- 59:07And then Max wakes up in a hospital bed and Chris is in a
- 59:10hospital bed next to her, and they hear their friends behind a
- 59:12curtain arguing about tapioca pudding.
- 59:15Duncan just keeps eating it even though he hates tapioca pudding.
- 59:18Yeah, and they're all alive. Everybody's cool.
- 59:21Yeah, They still have the damage from the movie though.
- 59:23Yeah. Duncan has that big scar from
- 59:26his machete. Yeah, that was that was a
- 59:28massive scar. And I feel like you probably
- 59:31would have also had surgery and wouldn't be moving around quite
- 59:34as much cuz. It's also a movie now.
- 59:36There are organs. Yeah, that's true.
- 59:38It is a movie now. As they're part of the
- 59:40characters in. This Yeah, cuz they look around
- 59:42and they're seeing all kinds of 80s stuff.
- 59:44There's gremlins and Rubik's cubes.
- 59:47And cuz they hear that and then they peek out the door and
- 59:52Duncan, his eyes immediately open up.
- 59:55He's like my God. And then they see the title for
- 59:58Camp Blood. Yeah, you see Billy coming in.
- 1:00:01It's in the hospital. The hospital sequel.
- 1:00:03So fucking good. I love it.
- 1:00:06And he's like, yeah, the Part 2 is so much cooler than the first
- 1:00:09one. Billy's already on fire and he's
- 1:00:11like charging through the hospital.
- 1:00:13It's so fucking cool. There is a there is an outtake
- 1:00:16during the credits where we see Adam Taveen in like a full body
- 1:00:20cast and he's telling a nurse he's like, I got one bone that's
- 1:00:24not broken is actually the upper part of this arm that doesn't.
- 1:00:29Yeah, my penis is a wreck. Yeah, it's actually split into
- 1:00:32three different parts right now. Yeah, you know what I what I
- 1:00:35would have liked here, what a very 22 jump St. ending where
- 1:00:39they keep doing the sequels afterwards too.
- 1:00:41So like part three-part four. Yeah, it would have been fun to
- 1:00:44see like what the variations of the sequels would have been.
- 1:00:47Yes. But yeah, so that I love the
- 1:00:52ending to this, like right immediately into the second
- 1:00:55movie. I I wonder though if it stops at
- 1:00:582:00 because they were only doing a double feature that
- 1:01:01night. It could.
- 1:01:05Yeah, I feel like yeah, that's what would make sense for him to
- 1:01:09stop it too. Yeah, or they're just like fully
- 1:01:12in the universe of the movie. It doesn't.
- 1:01:14Matter. But do do they just live their
- 1:01:16life in the 80s now? It seems that way, yeah.
- 1:01:18Yeah. But there's a good chance,
- 1:01:20considering everybody else survived, that Nancy's back too.
- 1:01:24That's true. Yeah, so she probably would see
- 1:01:26her mom again, I would say. Yeah, OK, All right.
- 1:01:29But anyways, that's how the movie ends.
- 1:01:31I'm going to bump mine up to 9 because that's that feels like
- 1:01:33the correct score. Actually, now that we've met it,
- 1:01:36I've meditated on it. I'm keeping mine at nine.
- 1:01:38Yeah, this movie is fantastic. I love this movie.
- 1:01:42What did Talia think of it? Oh, Talia was hooked.
- 1:01:47Like right from the beginning. She's like oh shit.
- 1:01:49Is that car wreck man? It grabbed her attention.
- 1:01:52She loves car rides, so the fact that a car ride could go so
- 1:01:55badly, I mean, she's watched all the Fast and Furious movies with
- 1:01:57us, but. They usually go like OK fast and
- 1:02:00furious. Like you can go, you can launch
- 1:02:02yourself over a bridge from one car and land on the car hood and
- 1:02:05you'll be. Fine, Even Han, who we watch die
- 1:02:0872 times, Yeah, if you actually survive that wreck.
- 1:02:12You can survive a car explosion in this.
- 1:02:14You can survive anything in. That series, yeah.
- 1:02:17So she she was very, very alert into it.
- 1:02:21But then she got sleepy partway through and she was like, oh,
- 1:02:24this is a movie without a movie. Yeah.
- 1:02:27She's like, I don't, I don't care for that meta stuff.
- 1:02:30Oh Italia would be a little meta snog.
- 1:02:33Yeah, I could say really meta is so 2013 and yeah.
- 1:02:38We get it, You know the rules. Yeah, OK.
- 1:02:42So I think Talia will give it a six.
- 1:02:46OK. She's like a ruined car.
- 1:02:47Ads for me and it's like up its own butt.
- 1:02:51Yeah, what you guys tell me not to do.
- 1:02:52Yeah, she's like you guys say, it's really bad to be in your
- 1:02:54butt all the time, so. OK, Zoe's ultimate warrior.
- 1:03:02I think it's Tina because Tina kept trying to take.
- 1:03:06Them, Oh my God. Medicines and was told no, but
- 1:03:08she found a way to do it anyway, even with her hands in the oven
- 1:03:12mitts. She's always missing her collar
- 1:03:14too, so she's always running around Nick and.
- 1:03:16Yeah, yeah, yeah, her thing right now, because we've got
- 1:03:19reuse of old Ziploc bags, you know, protect the earth and
- 1:03:22whatnot. And I take a little baggie of
- 1:03:24popcorn with me to work every day for an afternoon snack.
- 1:03:28And I think popcorn popped with Coke.
- 1:03:32Coconut oil is cat crack if anybody's curious.
- 1:03:35The one day that you came back home and you had a couple of
- 1:03:39little tiny pieces of popcorn in there and ruined.
- 1:03:42It this is the bag. It ruined it.
- 1:03:45She is now fully into those. She's like that has popcorn all
- 1:03:48the time. It tastes like popcorn, so.
- 1:03:50Yeah, even when you put like Doritos in yours or something.
- 1:03:53She's like, where's the fucking popcorn, Janice?
- 1:03:56She she's just. Oh my God, yeah.
- 1:03:59Yeah, so Tina. Tina the Tina.
- 1:04:02No. Who did you relate to?
- 1:04:07I said last night that unfortunately I feel like I'm
- 1:04:09going to have to relate to Duncan.
- 1:04:11I do too. I would be mouthing along with
- 1:04:13the words, yeah, speaking along with the words.
- 1:04:15And obviously we get the Spring Breakers reference.
- 1:04:17So it's just, it's just, I have no hope.
- 1:04:19Yeah, I mean, that's the easiest one.
- 1:04:21Like he is the guy that I relate to too.
- 1:04:23Like he's the horror movie fan. In a horror movie, I would be
- 1:04:26nerding out the entire. Time, yeah.
- 1:04:29OK, OK, Dream sequel. Dream sequel.
- 1:04:33Yeah, I want them to do Camp Bloodbath too.
- 1:04:36I want Kurt to be her dad. Kurt to be her dad.
- 1:04:40Yeah, I think that that would be fun.
- 1:04:44Bring everybody back. And I want, like, Duncan to
- 1:04:47maybe become kind of upset, not in a romantic way, but, like,
- 1:04:50becomes obsessed with Max now that he knows that she's the
- 1:04:53product of 2 camp bloodbath stars.
- 1:04:56Yeah. And like, Chris is like, dude,
- 1:04:57you're being really weird. Yeah.
- 1:05:00OK, so this is how that one was very much a play on Friday the
- 1:05:0413th like a lot of them mostly like the early ones for sure
- 1:05:09this one is going to be Halloween one because this is
- 1:05:11very. Halloween too.
- 1:05:12Yes, it is. Yeah, and that kind of like with
- 1:05:15him being on fire. I mean, that's what happens to
- 1:05:17Michael on Halloween, too, in the hospital.
- 1:05:19But all right, let's throw this out.
- 1:05:21Who would you want to add to the cast?
- 1:05:24Justin Long for sure. Justin Long OK, let's add some
- 1:05:26more people. Let's see who's another like.
- 1:05:30Some funny horror people or just funny people?
- 1:05:32Cuz this is like. I think this would be a great
- 1:05:34moment to have Jamie Lee Curtis as like, maybe she's the charge
- 1:05:37nurse. She's like really fucking no
- 1:05:39nonsense. And that's a great wink and nod
- 1:05:41to Halloween. She would.
- 1:05:43As well. She'd be a good role for that.
- 1:05:45Yeah, I like that. OK, add one more person.
- 1:05:49OK. OK.
- 1:05:53I can't think of anybody else. OK, cool.
- 1:05:57OK, but I mean, that'd be a fun movie.
- 1:05:59I really, really hope they do it.
- 1:06:01Yeah, I want that. If we do, we want to put anybody
- 1:06:04modern in there as well. Like a modern day person, like
- 1:06:09in the 20 twenties, yeah. To be young with the young ones.
- 1:06:13Let's put Danny McBride in. Yes, yeah, absolutely.
- 1:06:18He's not one of the young ones, but I.
- 1:06:19Would like to see. I would love to see him and Adam
- 1:06:22Devine and a horror movie together.
- 1:06:24He's a security guard with a very, very much like his Tropic
- 1:06:29Thunder persona. Dude, him and Duncan nerd out
- 1:06:33about horror together. Yes, yes, yes.
- 1:06:36I fucking love that. Yeah, he.
- 1:06:38Does watch a lot of Hallmark. He.
- 1:06:40Does, yeah. OK, cool.
- 1:06:43There we go. OK, cool.
- 1:06:45And that movie writes itself. It does.
- 1:06:47I don't want them to go back to the real world though.
- 1:06:49I want it to stay in the movies. And then at the end of this,
- 1:06:52then we do the 22 jump St. thing, which makes more sense
- 1:06:55since it's the sequel, and then we plug all of the pretend
- 1:06:58sequels. Unless you want to just keep
- 1:07:00this thing going, I don't think that the people involved would
- 1:07:04want to keep going. Probably not, but you know, also
- 1:07:07if they made a 23 jump St. with like one of the ideas that they
- 1:07:10pitched during the credits, I wouldn't be that about it.
- 1:07:13Fuck yeah, I wouldn't want that to happen.
- 1:07:15And the good news is, is that if they can't get Channing Tatum,
- 1:07:19we can just get from Breakers. Seriously guys, look at Channing
- 1:07:25Tatum and blink twice and look at Brown Breaker and tell me
- 1:07:29that they're not like if not brothers then cousins.
- 1:07:33Yeah, Brown Breaker's just more jacked and.
- 1:07:35A little bit more tan. Bit tan or two?
- 1:07:37Yeah, yeah. Yeah, it barks a little bit
- 1:07:40more. It barks a lot more.
- 1:07:43Channing Tatum barks a little. OK, tagline.
- 1:07:47The mother of all horror films. Not them.
- 1:07:53So I know how this they referenced like lines and scenes
- 1:07:58from other horror movies. So we can maybe do variations of
- 1:08:02famous tag lines. OK, OK, so I've got the one from
- 1:08:06the pieces. It's exactly what you want it to
- 1:08:08be. Know.
- 1:08:10Exactly what you think it is. Well, I was going to say because
- 1:08:12the first one felt very like Texas Chainsaw, like rulers
- 1:08:16survive. They're just missing the and
- 1:08:17what will be left of them. Yeah.
- 1:08:19I feel like we need to almost do like the night he came home
- 1:08:22again, but like, yeah, the night they left home again because
- 1:08:27their account counselor is. Also the Kumbana thing could
- 1:08:33have been good from kumbaya to Kumbana.
- 1:08:39Kumba. Not again.
- 1:08:43Yeah, there we go. I feel like that'd be good for
- 1:08:46the sequel though. I know, I just realized that I'm
- 1:08:48trying to write tag lines through the sequel.
- 1:08:52My bad. Yeah.
- 1:08:56That's so good. Kumba.
- 1:08:58Yeah, Kumba. Not again.
- 1:09:01Oh man. Just keep telling each other
- 1:09:05it's only a movie. Oh, that's good.
- 1:09:08Yeah. Oh, very, very good.
- 1:09:11Yeah, yeah, yeah. OK, we're weird now.
- 1:09:17Everybody dressed in his room. Dressed as people up until 2.
- 1:09:22Putting together a giant heavyweight champion belt for
- 1:09:27our 12 foot skeleton. Yeah, we we've been like
- 1:09:31brainwashed. Yeah, we're not.
- 1:09:34We're not OK. We're not OK.
- 1:09:37OK, well, you know, I guess that just means it's time for us to
- 1:09:42go on over to reviews, huh? Go on.
- 1:09:44Over to reviews. All right, well, here's The
- 1:09:46funny thing. I forgot the poor review because
- 1:09:47I was in such a rush. Damn.
- 1:09:48It whatever you're editing. OK, let's go with this one. 3
- 1:09:53out of 10. All right, Travis just picked
- 1:09:55this one kind of at random, so. Yeah, whatever.
- 1:09:58We'll see how it goes. Everybody OK, The story is dumb,
- 1:10:01just like the high ratings for this movie are dumb.
- 1:10:04That's the title of this review. Are people going crazy giving
- 1:10:08this movie such a high rating? I cannot imagine how they will
- 1:10:12score really high. What the fuck am I saying?
- 1:10:15I don't know. Are you OK?
- 1:10:17Are people really going crazy giving this movie such a high
- 1:10:20rating? I cannot imagine how they will
- 1:10:23score really good horror movies then.
- 1:10:25This is supposed to be a horror comedy or a parody of horror
- 1:10:28movie. But besides Adam Devine, I
- 1:10:31really didn't see anybody funny in the Final Girls.
- 1:10:34It all starts with images of really bad Slasher B movie and
- 1:10:37you start wondering if that's going to be the rest of the
- 1:10:40movie. But then you see a change into a
- 1:10:42normal movie and you are kind of relieved.
- 1:10:45But then they have the greatest dumb idea ever to project the
- 1:10:48whole cast into the absurd Slasher B movie.
- 1:10:52It's too absurd for words. What follows then is just
- 1:10:55pointless efforts to make this movie into a parody of an old
- 1:10:58school slasher. It's just embarrassing really.
- 1:11:00I really don't get why this movie gets much rating.
- 1:11:05So you mean to tell me we're supposed to believe people were
- 1:11:11transported into the movie? You telling me I'm supposed to
- 1:11:15believe that? I'm supposed to believe that?
- 1:11:17Nah, you. Telling me, Nah, you telling me
- 1:11:21that we're getting metaphysical here?
- 1:11:24You only do 1. Ha ha man, Adam Devine.
- 1:11:28You can't have Adam Devine and Thomas Middleditch just two ha
- 1:11:33ha Mens. Yeah.
- 1:11:37We talked about Danny McBride and I started talking like him.
- 1:11:41Yeah, I don't know, I disagree. I thought the whole cast was
- 1:11:47really good at being funny. Mens.
- 1:11:50Like being able to do metaphysical things in movies
- 1:11:53once in a while. I don't need everything to be
- 1:11:55grounded. Have you lived life lately?
- 1:11:57It's it sucks. Yeah.
- 1:11:59Let's have some fantasy every once in a while.
- 1:12:01Yeah, I mean, it's just just fucking turn your brain off, go
- 1:12:05for a ride. Everything doesn't have to be
- 1:12:07grounded, you know what I mean? But.
- 1:12:08I will say, yeah, this audience, this movie is not going to be
- 1:12:11for audiences that want a grounded and realistic movie
- 1:12:15because that's not what this is. Yeah.
- 1:12:17But it's very upfront about that.
- 1:12:18Yeah, it doesn't try to pretend that it is.
- 1:12:20No, it this movie knows exactly what it is and it's fine if
- 1:12:25you're not the right audience for this.
- 1:12:27I'm gonna disagree heavily. This is a movie that I think is
- 1:12:31really good for genre fans because everybody can like, they
- 1:12:33know the ends of it, but I think it's also good for people that
- 1:12:36are just familiar with the genre because everybody knows the
- 1:12:39truth. Yeah.
- 1:12:40So like, it's good for everybody, really.
- 1:12:42It's a super accessible movie. And I know some people really
- 1:12:45don't like those types of movies.
- 1:12:48I mean, we saw that when we're doing our screen coverage.
- 1:12:51Like some people just really don't like when movies poke fun
- 1:12:54at their own genre. Yeah.
- 1:12:57And, you know, maybe that's a whole other thing too.
- 1:12:59You know, we're sitting here telling this person that they
- 1:13:01need to just turn off their brain and enjoy it, which I
- 1:13:03guess can be kind of hard to do if you're having to deal with
- 1:13:05all the meta stuff. That's why Talia doesn't like
- 1:13:07it. That's true as we discussed.
- 1:13:09Talia, did you write this review?
- 1:13:11She's like, are you? Do you feel her, Sir?
- 1:13:17Do you feel him, Sir? OK, do we have listener reviews?
- 1:13:21We do Yay. Let's see if we got any more cuz
- 1:13:25The thing is still open so let's see what's up.
- 1:13:29Nah, Nah, Nah. I think of everything.
- 1:13:35OK. We have one.
- 1:13:37OK. And it is from Chris.
- 1:13:41OK. Chris says held back by APG 13
- 1:13:45rating but still finds a way to be an entertaining, funny,
- 1:13:48quirky movie. OK, I, you know, I agree with
- 1:13:51that. Like I feel like if they were
- 1:13:52able to do full R like they wanted to, they could have maybe
- 1:13:55done a little bit more. I honestly I kind of am not
- 1:14:00bothered. I'm not bothered.
- 1:14:01Because I feel like it lets us focus on the story more than
- 1:14:05like, all right, we're we're already pushing so many tropes
- 1:14:08of this. If we were having like a lot of
- 1:14:11boobies and blood, yes, obviously that's awesome and I'm
- 1:14:15going to love it. But it would be a lot to take
- 1:14:19in. I just, I don't think it really
- 1:14:22would have enhanced anything. Yeah.
- 1:14:24I think like what we get is all we needed.
- 1:14:27Yes. And I think it works perfectly
- 1:14:29for what it is. Yeah, they, they skirted the
- 1:14:32PG13R aligned perfectly in US. Yeah.
- 1:14:35Yeah. But you know, I mean, obviously
- 1:14:37that was their intent. So I'm curious to know what that
- 1:14:40would have been. But I did hear like, after they
- 1:14:44had fought for it so hard, they were all really happy with the
- 1:14:47final product, with it being PG13, yeah.
- 1:14:50So that's good. It ended up still fitting their
- 1:14:52vision. Yeah, I I it feels like it was
- 1:14:57edited exactly how it needed to be.
- 1:14:59Yeah, honestly, yeah, it worked out perfectly.
- 1:15:02All right, Well then that's it for the reviews, which means we
- 1:15:06are moving on to next week's movie.
- 1:15:07Yes, as I said, this weekend we will have our TV or not to be,
- 1:15:10so be on the lookout on our social media for what movie
- 1:15:12that's gonna be next week. Main episode is Leatherface, The
- 1:15:19Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Three.
- 1:15:21Yeah, don't watch the 2017 Leatherface until we absolutely
- 1:15:25have to. Yeah, just look up Texas
- 1:15:26Chainsaw Massacre 3. And honestly, this one, I feel
- 1:15:29like it doesn't get talked about enough.
- 1:15:31We were shocked when we finally watched it, how much time it is.
- 1:15:34It's a lot of fun. This is only gonna be our second
- 1:15:35watch, so I'm really, really looking forward to this.
- 1:15:38This is not available streaming that you can rent it on YouTube,
- 1:15:43Google Play Prime or Fandango. Let me tell you worth the three
- 1:15:47to four dollars? Yeah, I mean, it's a really fun
- 1:15:50movie. Yeah.
- 1:15:51Trust me, it's a good time. No, I don't know.
- 1:15:53I could not be here. Did you?
- 1:15:55Like, like the hitcher or joyride and you like Texas
- 1:15:59Chainsaw? Yeah, this is a good blend.
- 1:16:02It's a it's a Texas Chainsaw movie that kind of goes on the
