- 0:00Internal Mobility last piece of content here as I lock in to
- 0:04work today. Internal Mobility is not a
- 0:07trend. I know a lot of people have been
- 0:10talking about. Hey, it's a nice Trend.
- 0:11It's a nice to hat. No.
- 0:13It's he must and a very precise and clear and structured.
- 0:18Internal Mobility plan must be baked into your organization
- 0:22ASAP. Internal Mobility is an answer
- 0:26to potential hiring issues. Lack of finances and and and
- 0:32resources around recruiting can help you with retention.
- 0:37Can help you with fostering a more Innovative and more
- 0:39engaged. Workforce internal Mobility has
- 0:42a lot of benefits that's run down some of those in a minute
- 0:46here. I think what I want to say at a
- 0:50macro level about internal Mobility is the the core value
- 0:54is help your managers. Help your supervisors, help your
- 0:59directors, help your vp's, help their teams do what their teams
- 1:06want to do. I think a lot of organizations
- 1:10feel like if you have an employee that starting to get
- 1:13quote on quote distracted, That that distraction will cause him
- 1:19to have a drop-off in productivity and I actually look
- 1:22at it completely different. When you have a certain
- 1:25employees where their roles are becoming a bit stagnant, a bit
- 1:29staled, and their eyes. And you could allow them to
- 1:33start to experience different things.
- 1:35Experience, different opportunities, utilize different
- 1:38skills that you maybe didn't even know that they had.
- 1:40And either utilizing those skills to make a bigger impact
- 1:43beside the business. But in a very diverse and
- 1:45creative way from their point of view, Now, you have a more
- 1:50engaged employee very similar to dating.
- 1:53I often, I often compare everything and bring everything
- 1:57back to dating at times. If your partner is starting to
- 2:01feel like the relationship here is a bit stale is a bit
- 2:06stagnant. Typically what you do is you
- 2:09start sprucing things up, going to new dates, trying new things.
- 2:14So same thing in business, Let's get into some really core
- 2:18operational benefits, though, attracting and retaining.
- 2:22From the attraction side. I guarantee you talk to your
- 2:25town today and you give them a clear roadmap of how you will
- 2:28give them an opportunity to test an experience new things.
- 2:33You say to them. Hey, every three months, your
- 2:35managers are going to sit down and talk to you and see if you
- 2:37have any ancillary skills and that we didn't know about and he
- 2:40desires to try and do different things.
- 2:42Maybe be a part of different teams.
- 2:44Maybe we take on Special Projects, if you say that to a
- 2:47talent or recruit an applicant, coming into your organization, I
- 2:52guarantee. See their eyes going to perk up.
- 2:54I guarantee the way that they look at your organization is
- 2:56going to be different, From retention standpoint.
- 2:59Again, once once employees inside of companies feel like
- 3:03their role is becoming stagnant. The role is becoming stale, you
- 3:08throw a new initiative, a new project to special project, a
- 3:11new focus at them. Neither neither their focus and
- 3:15attention as spiked and their double Downing on what is
- 3:19already on their plate. So let's say their productivity
- 3:23has dropped off three to five percent every every single
- 3:25month. And it hasn't dropped off enough
- 3:28to fire them, but it's definitely where you, like, this
- 3:31person seems a little engaged. Where are they?
- 3:33I'm trying to I'm trying to figure them out.
- 3:37You forgot the special projects on their plate, along with their
- 3:39core deliverables. They're going to focus on those
- 3:42core deliverables because they don't want to lose the
- 3:44opportunity to tap into the special projects.
- 3:47Retention. Saves time and money.
- 3:53Saves a lot of time and money. If you as an organization need a
- 3:57skill, need a new initiative to get off the ground.
- 4:00Need something to be developed, need something to be executed at
- 4:03a higher level, save money, save time.
- 4:07Save the pressure on your recruiting teams.
- 4:09Just find someone internally to do it.
- 4:11I guarantee if you put it out to the world you will find it.
- 4:16There are someone in your organization that has been dying
- 4:19to get into guest blogging. There's someone in your
- 4:21organization that has a Coating in a product background that has
- 4:23been dying to be on the product. Team, you have someone in your
- 4:26organization that has relationships from a PR
- 4:28perspective. From a speaking perspective,
- 4:30from a chroma product strategy perspective, you have people on
- 4:34your team that you have not thoroughly vetted to understand
- 4:37what are some of the ancillary skills that they have.
- 4:41That are interesting to them, that can be impactful and align
- 4:47with the organizational goals over the next 6, 12, 18 months.
- 4:51Improves engagement in morale. That's common sense.
- 4:55Don't need. You really need to expand on
- 4:56that but I will. Anyway engagement, they'll be
- 5:01locked in, they're being, they're doing something they
- 5:04want to do more Al Their energy. Their positivity will just
- 5:09increase through the roof guarantee.
- 5:13Flexibility, if you want to have folks that are a bit more
- 5:17flexible, a bit more willing to do things that are out of the
- 5:21box and go above and beyond and their core deliverables.
- 5:25Allow them to tap into internal Mobility, I guarantee their
- 5:28flexibility will work or improve rather well Spike.
- 5:33Lower the risk of a bad hire. There are so many organizations
- 5:38right now that are desperate to hire the right person.
- 5:41So they're taking 6 8, 12 weeks to find just that one key role.
- 5:46Maybe utilize an internal Mobility plan and take that one
- 5:50key role and 220 deliverables. That you want that one key role
- 5:54to execute against and fire two or three people and fractional
- 5:58and and fraction that the expectations in the roles and
- 6:01the tasks up across those folks, to lower your risk of having a
- 6:06bad hire, just don't put on their plate.
- 6:08It stay in the bed with a little bit.
- 6:10Be strategic, make sure it's not too much. and now you save
- 6:13yourself time energy, money and the risk of a bad hire and the
- 6:18last thing Workplace loyalty. Come on.
- 6:23We all know how important that is.
- 6:26You will have workplace loyalty if you if you right now give me
- 6:30the opportunity to take my podcast and have it impact.
- 6:34My efforts inside of a company to take my ability to build
- 6:37relationships and have an impact.
- 6:38The company to listen to my ideas on product strategy, or a
- 6:42new Revenue, if you take ideas that I had and not just me,
- 6:45anyone has, and you actually put them into motion inside of Your
- 6:50company, do you know the amount of loyalty the amount of
- 6:52Engagement the amount of respect and what you have for that
- 6:55brand? It's going to spike through the
- 6:57roof. It's a fact.
- 7:01And so, a lot of companies forget that a lot of companies
- 7:05don't take that. Seriously, a lot of companies
- 7:07don't spend a lot of time energy and resources thinking about
- 7:10that. Human behavior psychology.
- 7:16Human beings in general are very simple.
- 7:19Very simple. Give them what they want.
- 7:24Listen to them, support them, engage with them.
- 7:30Be sure to giuk. Put them in the best position to
- 7:34win and put them in the best position to do what they
- 7:37actually want to do. I'm not saying take off their
- 7:42core deliverables. I'm just saying make some tweaks
- 7:44and adjustments to bed with, make some tweaks and adjustments
- 7:47to your team design. Make some tweaks and adjustments
- 7:49to how their role is going to be judged and assessed and
- 7:53measured. And have it be a little bit more
- 7:56of a 50-50. Win-win on both sides.
- 8:00Little bit of flexibility. So as always, just a few
- 8:04thoughts, just a few perspectives.
- 8:08We'll talk soon. We'll talk soon.
