- Brandon: Well, good morning and good evening, good afternoon, whenever, wherever you listen to this podcast. Once again, welcome to another episode of the Daily Word Podcast. My name is Brandon, and I'm so thrilled to have you here today. where we just take time each day and we we share with you from the scripture. We're currently in the book of Revelation, in the Life Journal reading plan. That's the reading plan we use as a church community. we're in the book of Revelation and today, August the thirty first. Last day of the month of August, our New Testament reading is Revelation chapter five. And wanna read to you Revelation chapter five, verse one, and then I'm gonna go over to verse eight and go verse eight through ten, something like that. We'll kinda see how how it goes as we get there. But verse one says this, and I saw in in the right hand of him who sat on the throne a scroll inside. And on the back, sealed with seven seals. I want to read to you. part of what I encourage you to do as we came into the book of Revelation is to read it with some good resources. And my favorite study Bible, the Spirit-Filled Life Bible. Here's what the note on this verse says: the right hand is the symbol of power and authority. So, and I saw in the right hand, so right hand, the right hand is a symbol of power and authority, and the scroll. Is the redemptive plan of God, which was foreshadowed in the Old Testament, inaugurated in Jesus Christ, and now revealed in its victorious consummation, written inside and on the back and sealed with seven seals, indicates that nothing can be added to God's last will and testament. So we see opening this chapter, the Lamb taking the scroll, and the right hand says. Authority, power in the right hand is is the scroll. This is God's hand, and the scroll it is God's redemptive plan of salvation for all of humanity. And and from the beginning of time, that's why it says from the foundations of the of the world, the lamb had been slain. That God he foreknew humanity's sin, and in spite of foreknowing humanity's sin, still created you and I. And and and and and in his for foreknowledge of us turning, he had a redemptive plan of salvation from the beginning. Now, verse eight, it says this now when Jesus or he had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. This is Jesus, each having a harp and golden bowls of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. And they sang a new song. Listen to the song they sing. You are worthy to take this scroll. Now let me ask you a question, why was Jesus worthy to take the scroll? Because he's the only one who from heaven became flesh, God became man and dwelt among us, and he's the only one who has lived the perfect life and fulfilled all of God's law. He was worthy to take the scroll and to fulfill God's redemptive plan of salvation because he was the spotless lamb. Jesus lived a life fully fulfilling all of God's will. And so they sing this song. You're worthy to take the scroll and to open it sealed. Seals. For listen to this, for you were slain. That's Jesus being crucified on the cross. And you have redeemed us to God by your blood. We have been brought back into right relationship with God because of the blood of Jesus. Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, and have made us kings and priests to our God. And we shall reign on the earth. It's a beautiful picture of God in his hand has having the plan of salvation, the redemptive plan, Jesus being the only one who is worthy to take that scroll, take that plan. And as Jesus takes the scroll, the plant, God's plan of salvation, start worshiping him, saying, you are worthy. You're the only one worthy. You are worth for you are for you were slain. And through your blood, you have redeemed out of every tribe and nation the people whom God loved and created. You've redeemed them back to God. And listen to what it says. And you have made them kings. Kings. What's what's that saying? that now that we've been redeemed and for forgiven our sins and redeemed to God. We've been seated with Christ in heavenly places, and we now have been given spiritual authority. We have been brought into the royal family, if you will. By inheritance, now we are kings and we're priests to God. The priests ministered to God. The priests ministered to the people. Not only are we kings, but now we are those who minister to God and minister to God's people. how worthy Jesus was, for he has made us kings. And priest to our God, and we shall reign on the earth. What is the point of all of this? Here is my observation and insight today, reading through Revelation chapter 5. Jesus is worthy. He's worthy of my praise. He's worthy of my whole life. He's worthy of my obedience. Jesus is worthy. We were dead in our sin and our trespass. We were lost and without hope. And Jesus, who is the only one worthy, Took that scroll, took God's redemptive plan of salvation. He lived the life we could not live. One who is worthy because he fulfilled all of God's words and all of God's law. He was slain, and through his blood, we were redeemed to God, and he has made us kings and priests, and we now reign with him. He's worthy. Jesus is worthy. Jesus is the superhero. Jesus is Our Savior. Jesus is the one who fulfilled God's glorious plan of salvation and redemption. He is the only way to the Father. He is the truth. He is the life. Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus. Jesus over everything. Jesus, G, Jesus is worthy. And I just today am just in my heart making much of Jesus. I'm so thankful that Jesus did what he did. I'm so thankful that he is who he is. I'm so thankful that he loves me the way that he loves me. And I want to remind you today: put your mind on Jesus. Like, like, like, like these 24 elders, like they're worshiping. Put your mind on Jesus and worship him today. Maybe even just take time and sing this song. Pray this song in your heart. You're worthy. Jesus, you're worthy to take the scroll. You're worthy to open its seals. You were slain. You've redeemed us to God out of every tribe, tongue, and people and nation. You've made us kings and priests all. We will reign with you. Jesus is worthy. Let's put our attention on and make much of Jesus. So, Lord, today for everyone listening, for myself included, fill our heart with worship and gratitude and sobriety to how good, how amazing, and how thankful we ought to be for the person of Jesus. Jesus, we love you. We love you, Jesus. Genuinely, I say today via podcast, Jesus, I love you and I'm so thankful for you. Holy Spirit, convince and convict my heart more of this reality day by day, and what I live surrendered to and in service to Jesus. In Jesus' name. Amen. Amen. Hey, hope you were blessed today, and I can't wait to see you tomorrow on another episode of the Daily Word podcast.
