- 0:01Speaker 1: Welcome to Real Talk with Mike D. Alright, welcome back
- 0:06Speaker 1: to Real Talk with Mike D. I am the one,
- 0:09Speaker 1: the only, and the original Mike D. Where we say
- 0:12Speaker 1: what we mean, and we mean what we say. Ladies
- 0:16Speaker 1: and gentlemen, today I'm not here to complain about life,
- 0:19Speaker 1: talk about the struggles we face, make you laugh about
- 0:23Speaker 1: the crazy things that happen to us, or even tell
- 0:25Speaker 1: you about something that's been bothering me. Nope.
- 0:28Speaker 2: I'm giving you.
- 0:29Speaker 1: All a day off with pay. You are very welcome.
- 0:36Speaker 1: But rather today, I want to take a few minutes
- 0:38Speaker 1: and do something that I think is incredibly important. I
- 0:42Speaker 1: want to thank each and every one of you out
- 0:45Speaker 1: there listening to me. And I don't mean just a
- 0:49Speaker 1: quick casual thank you that you say to somebody when
- 0:51Speaker 1: they hold a.
- 0:51Speaker 2: Door open for you. No.
- 0:53Speaker 1: I mean a genuine, heartfelt thank you from the bottom
- 0:57Speaker 1: of my heart. I want to thank you for listening
- 1:01Speaker 1: to this podcast. I want to thank you for giving
- 1:04Speaker 1: me your time. Thank you for clicking on an episode,
- 1:09Speaker 1: putting on your headphones, turning up your speakers, or listening
- 1:12Speaker 1: while you're driving to work. Or maybe you're sitting at
- 1:16Speaker 1: home or trying to get through another crazy day. Because
- 1:20Speaker 1: the truth is, you don't have to listen to me.
- 1:23Speaker 1: There are a thousand choices out there. And there are
- 1:27Speaker 1: people with fancy studios, expensive equipment, professional production teams, and
- 1:32Speaker 1: huge audiences.
- 1:34Speaker 2: And then there's me, Mike D.
- 1:37Speaker 1: I'm just a guy with something to say, a microphone,
- 1:40Speaker 1: a dream, and a whole lot of determination to make
- 1:43Speaker 1: this thing work. And the fact that you've taken time
- 1:46Speaker 1: out of your day to listen to what I have
- 1:48Speaker 1: to say, that means more to me than you might realize.
- 1:53Speaker 1: So ladies and gentlemen, today this episode is for you.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Because you deserve it. You gave me a place and
- 2:03Speaker 1: a platform to speak. Now, let's talk about something for
- 2:10Speaker 1: just a few minutes. You know, we all live in
- 2:14Speaker 1: a world where everybody is busy. Everybody has somewhere to go,
- 2:18Speaker 1: something to do, bills to pay, responsibilities to handle, and
- 2:22Speaker 1: problems they're trying to figure out. Some people are getting
- 2:25Speaker 1: up early to go to work. Others are working late shifts.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Some are raising families, taking care of their children, looking
- 2:32Speaker 1: after their parents, or trying to figure out how they're
- 2:35Speaker 1: going to make it through this week financially. Everybody has
- 2:40Speaker 1: something going on. And somewhere in the middle of all that,
- 2:47Speaker 1: you decided to give Real Talk with Mike D a listen.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Maybe you listened to one episode because the title caught
- 2:53Speaker 1: your attention. Maybe you stumbled across the podcast by accident.
- 2:57Speaker 1: Maybe somebody told you about it. Or maybe you've been
- 3:01Speaker 1: listening for a while and you've become a regular listener.
- 3:04Speaker 1: However you found me, I am glad you are here.
- 3:09Speaker 1: And I hope that somewhere along the way, something I
- 3:12Speaker 1: have said has made you laugh, made you think, helped
- 3:17Speaker 1: you feel understood, or simply kept you company for a
- 3:22Speaker 1: few minutes. That is what I want this podcast to
- 3:25Speaker 1: be about. I want it to be a place where
- 3:27Speaker 1: we can talk about real life. Not the perfect life
- 3:31Speaker 1: people show on social media, because that's bullshit. Not the
- 3:35Speaker 1: picture perfect version where everybody is smiling, everybody has money,
- 3:39Speaker 1: everybody is happy, and nobody ever has a problem. I
- 3:42Speaker 1: am talking about real life. The life where sometimes you
- 3:47Speaker 1: wake up tired. The life where you have a bad
- 3:49Speaker 1: day and don't feel like talking to anybody. The life
- 3:52Speaker 1: where you're trying to stay positive, but sometimes things get overwhelming.
- 3:55Speaker 1: The life where you can be surrounded by people and
- 3:58Speaker 1: still feel alone. The life where you work hard, try
- 4:02Speaker 1: your best, and sometimes wonder if any of it is
- 4:05Speaker 1: paying off. Because that is real life. And if you've
- 4:09Speaker 1: ever listened to one of my episodes and thought, Damn, Mike,
- 4:12Speaker 1: I know exactly what you're talking about. then that means
- 4:16Speaker 1: something to me because that's the connection I'm hoping to make.
- 4:20Speaker 1: I'm not here to pretend that I have all the
- 4:22Speaker 1: answers because I don't. I'm not here to tell you
- 4:25Speaker 1: that my life is perfect because it's not. And I
- 4:28Speaker 1: am certainly not here to act like I'm better than
- 4:30Speaker 1: anybody else because that is far from the case. I'm
- 4:34Speaker 1: just a guy sharing his thoughts, his experiences, his frustrations,
- 4:38Speaker 1: his dreams, and sometimes his ridiculous sense of humor. And
- 4:44Speaker 1: if you're willing to listen to all that, I am grateful.
- 4:48Speaker 1: I am very, very grateful for each and every one
- 4:53Speaker 1: of you. And that is plain and simple. End of story.
- 4:58Speaker 1: I want to tell you something about Real Talk with
- 4:59Speaker 1: Mike D. This podcast isn't just about recording my voice
- 5:03Speaker 1: and putting an episode online. For me, it's about having
- 5:06Speaker 1: a platform. It's about having a place where I can
- 5:08Speaker 1: express myself honestly. It's about being able to talk about
- 5:12Speaker 1: the things that matter to me, the things that frustrate me,
- 5:16Speaker 1: the things that make me happy, and the things that
- 5:18Speaker 1: sometimes keep me awake at night. It's about having something
- 5:22Speaker 1: that I can build, something that I can be proud of,
- 5:25Speaker 1: and something that allows me to be myself. Because let's
- 5:32Speaker 1: be honest, sometimes in life, you don't always feel like
- 5:36Speaker 1: people hear you. You can have thoughts running through your
- 5:39Speaker 1: head all day long. You can have experiences you want
- 5:43Speaker 1: to share. You can have dreams you're chasing. And sometimes
- 5:46Speaker 1: it feels like nobody is paying attention. But when I
- 5:51Speaker 1: sit down behind this microphone, I get the opportunity to speak.
- 5:58Speaker 1: And when you press play, you give me the opportunity
- 6:02Speaker 1: to be heard. Ladies and gentlemen, that is a powerful thing.
- 6:08Speaker 1: You might think you're just listening to a podcast, but
- 6:10Speaker 1: from my side of the microphone, it feels like somebody
- 6:14Speaker 1: is actually giving me a chance. A chance to share
- 6:19Speaker 1: something meaningful. A chance to entertain somebody. A chance to
- 6:23Speaker 1: make somebody laugh.
- 6:25Speaker 2: After they've had a terrible, terrible day.
- 6:29Speaker 1: And a chance to remind somebody that they're not the
- 6:32Speaker 1: only person in this world who's struggling. and a chance
- 6:37Speaker 1: to keep pursuing something that matters to me. I don't
- 6:41Speaker 1: take that for granted, not for one second. Every episode
- 6:45Speaker 1: represents time, effort, thought, and a little piece of me.
- 6:51Speaker 1: Sometimes I know exactly what I want to talk about,
- 6:53Speaker 1: and other times I sit here thinking, okay Mike, what
- 6:56Speaker 1: in the hell are we going to talk about today?
- 6:59Speaker 1: But yet somehow, we figure it out. But regardless of
- 7:04Speaker 1: the subject, I want to give you something worth listening to.
- 7:08Speaker 1: Maybe it's a serious conversation. Maybe it's a funny story.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Maybe it's an opinion that you agree with. And maybe
- 7:14Speaker 1: it's something that you don't agree with me on. And
- 7:17Speaker 1: that's okay. Because the beauty of a podcast is that
- 7:21Speaker 1: we can talk about different things, have different opinions, and
- 7:25Speaker 1: still enjoy the conversation. And that is what I want
- 7:29Speaker 1: Real Talk with Mike D to be. A place where
- 7:32Speaker 1: honesty matters, where laughter is welcomed, where difficult conversations aren't avoided,
- 7:38Speaker 1: and where being yourself is enough. And every single time
- 7:43Speaker 1: you listen, you're helping me keep that vision alive. So
- 7:50Speaker 1: thank you. Seriously, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
- 7:55Speaker 1: You'll never know how much that means to me. Now,
- 8:01Speaker 1: I want to give a special shout out to anybody
- 8:03Speaker 1: who's been listening to me from day one. It's only
- 8:07Speaker 1: been a month and a half, but still. If you're
- 8:11Speaker 1: with me from day one, I appreciate you more than
- 8:16Speaker 1: you'll ever, ever know. You were listening to me when
- 8:19Speaker 1: I was trying to figure things out. You were listening
- 8:22Speaker 1: while I was learning what kind of show I wanted
- 8:25Speaker 1: to create. You were listening while I was trying different subjects,
- 8:29Speaker 1: different approaches, and different ways of expressing myself. And if
- 8:33Speaker 1: you've stuck around through all of that, I want you
- 8:36Speaker 1: to know that I notice and I appreciate it. You know,
- 8:41Speaker 1: building something takes time. Everybody wants success. Everybody wants to
- 8:46Speaker 1: see their numbers go up. Everybody wants more listeners, more recognition,
- 8:51Speaker 1: more people discovering what they're doing. And I'm no different.
- 8:56Speaker 1: I want those things. Of course I want Real Talk
- 9:00Speaker 1: with Mike D to grow. I would love to reach
- 9:03Speaker 1: more people. I'd love to have more listeners discovering my
- 9:07Speaker 1: show every day. I'd love to look back someday and say,
- 9:11Speaker 1: holy crap, look how far things have come.
- 9:16Speaker 2: That is the dream. But I'm also learning that growth
- 9:19Speaker 2: doesn't happen overnight. Sometimes you just have to be patient.
- 9:24Speaker 2: Sometimes you have to keep showing up when the results
- 9:27Speaker 2: aren't what you hoped they would be. And sometimes you
- 9:31Speaker 2: have to put in the work without knowing exactly where
- 9:34Speaker 2: it's going to lead. And sometimes you have to remind
- 9:37Speaker 2: yourself why you started this in the first place. For me,
- 9:41Speaker 2: part of the reason is the opportunity to connect with people.
- 9:45Speaker 2: And every listener matters. I don't care whether you listen
- 9:49Speaker 2: to one episode or 50 episodes. I don't care whether
- 9:55Speaker 2: you're listening to me in Pennsylvania, California, Florida, New York,
- 9:58Speaker 2: or somewhere on the other side of the world. When
- 10:02Speaker 2: you choose to spend part of your day listening to
- 10:04Speaker 2: my show, I want you to know that I appreciate
- 10:08Speaker 2: that more than you will ever know. You are not
- 10:11Speaker 2: just a number on a screen. You are a person
- 10:14Speaker 2: who decided to give this podcast And Mike D, a chance.
- 10:21Speaker 1: And that means something. That means a lot to me.
- 10:27Speaker 1: So to the people who've been listening to me from
- 10:29Speaker 1: the beginning, thank you for being part of this journey.
- 10:34Speaker 1: And to the people who discovered my show yesterday, welcome aboard.
- 10:38Speaker 1: Welcome to the madness. And to everybody in between, I'm
- 10:43Speaker 1: glad you're here. We're building this thing one episode at
- 10:46Speaker 1: a time. And I hope you'll continue to come along
- 10:50Speaker 1: for the ride. Ladies and gentlemen, like I said earlier,
- 10:55Speaker 1: this podcast has only been going for about a month
- 10:59Speaker 1: and a half now. And in that month and a half,
- 11:02Speaker 1: this podcast has grown so much that it blows my mind.
- 11:08Speaker 1: You know, when I started this podcast, if you would
- 11:11Speaker 1: have told me a month and a half from now,
- 11:14Speaker 1: you're going to be on every major podcast. streaming platform
- 11:18Speaker 1: there is. I would have told you there's no way.
- 11:22Speaker 1: There's no way that's going to happen. If you would
- 11:25Speaker 1: have told me that people all across the country are
- 11:27Speaker 1: listening to me, people in Hawaii, Alaska, England, Sweden, South
- 11:36Speaker 1: Africa are listening to me, I'd say you're out of
- 11:39Speaker 1: your mind. There's no way. But within that month and
- 11:44Speaker 1: a half, Those things I just mentioned, they have happened.
- 11:51Speaker 1: And I owe all of this to you, the listeners.
- 11:54Speaker 1: Because without you, none of this would have happened. So
- 12:02Speaker 1: from the bottom of my heart, I want you to
- 12:04Speaker 1: know that I appreciate you so much. I appreciate you listening.
- 12:11Speaker 1: I appreciate you being here. And I appreciate you helping
- 12:17Speaker 1: to make my dream come true. So thank you, thank you,
- 12:22Speaker 1: and thank you. But that's going to do it for
- 12:26Speaker 1: today's episode. I greatly appreciate you being here. I appreciate
- 12:30Speaker 1: you listening. And as always, I will see you all
- 12:33Speaker 1: in the next episode. Thank you.
