- 0:47Speaker 3: Hello, ladies and gentlemen.
- 0:49Speaker 4: You've got the crew, Carl Lee, Hallas Lewis, Lisa Odie.
- 0:53Speaker 3: We're all here. And just before we got on air,
- 0:59Speaker 3: there was a.
- 0:59Speaker 4: Commnversation that I overheard about a good super Bowl, that
- 1:05Speaker 4: it was really good.
- 1:07Speaker 3: So I'm gonna which one of you.
- 1:11Speaker 4: All want to start it out and give me your
- 1:14Speaker 4: reason for it, because we are so far apart.
- 1:17Speaker 5: Well, I thought it was good just from the standpoint
- 1:21Speaker 5: that again, if you look at Philly's defensive philosophy, I mean,
- 1:27Speaker 5: it's amazing that they were able to do what they
- 1:30Speaker 5: did without blitzing.
- 1:33Speaker 3: They didn't blitz one time and had six sacts. They
- 1:36Speaker 3: said that they didn't. I can't.
- 1:40Speaker 4: I can't argue that point. But I thought I saw
- 1:43Speaker 4: some guys coming off the edge. But but but but
- 1:45Speaker 4: maybe not, but maybe not.
- 1:47Speaker 5: I think they had one like what you can say
- 1:49Speaker 5: is a blitz towards the end of the fourth quarter.
- 1:52Speaker 5: They had an odd front, so they had a three
- 1:53Speaker 5: man front and somebody came off, but that still be
- 1:56Speaker 5: four man rush.
- 1:57Speaker 3: Yes, this four man rushing.
- 1:58Speaker 5: I don't know if the constitution is a blitz, but
- 2:00Speaker 5: that doesn't I thought the game plan was executed perfectly,
- 2:03Speaker 5: and the fact that they were able to do what
- 2:04Speaker 5: they did to Patrick.
- 2:05Speaker 6: Mahomes was just they man handled him.
- 2:07Speaker 4: Yeah, so okay, So because of how well Philly played
- 2:15Speaker 4: it was that was it? That which is justified to
- 2:17Speaker 4: make that a good game, just because no one has
- 2:20Speaker 4: been able to shut Homes down and all of a sudden,
- 2:23Speaker 4: here comes Philly and they beat him down. So okay,
- 2:26Speaker 4: I can give you that. Okay, now these I'm still
- 2:30Speaker 4: waiting where he goes?
- 2:31Speaker 2: You go?
- 2:32Speaker 7: And I think a little bit probably, I don't know
- 2:34Speaker 7: if hollis I think We've discussed the chief fatigue on
- 2:37Speaker 7: here before, but it was the end of a dynasty.
- 2:40Speaker 7: And it's kind of like, I don't know about you guys,
- 2:43Speaker 7: but the party I was at, everybody cheered every time
- 2:45Speaker 7: my homes went down. It was just that kind of vibe,
- 2:49Speaker 7: you know, just to see the end of something. It
- 2:51Speaker 7: was kind of like when the Patriots kind of started
- 2:53Speaker 7: to meet their demise. You know, everybody's tired of seeing
- 2:57Speaker 7: that same team, the same song and dance at the
- 2:59Speaker 7: suit every year, and just to see another team come
- 3:02Speaker 7: in and do what they did to that whole offense,
- 3:05Speaker 7: it was.
- 3:06Speaker 6: It was magical. I mean, I'm just gonna sit here
- 3:08Speaker 6: and put it.
- 3:09Speaker 7: I'm just gonna put it out there. And I was
- 3:10Speaker 7: also really happy for Jalen Hurts.
- 3:12Speaker 3: Sure.
- 3:13Speaker 7: I mean, you know, he's overcome a lot of adversity
- 3:15Speaker 7: throughout the year, starting with his collegiate play. You know,
- 3:18Speaker 7: he was benched during the College Football Championship, you know,
- 3:21Speaker 7: during the Alabama game. Then he had to leave there
- 3:23Speaker 7: go to Oklahoma to become the starter of a team.
- 3:27Speaker 7: You know, he's overcome so much. I think he was
- 3:30Speaker 7: drafted like second round for a backup, so to think
- 3:33Speaker 7: that he's overcome all of that and become the MVP
- 3:36Speaker 7: of the super Bowl.
- 3:37Speaker 6: To me, that was a great story.
- 3:38Speaker 4: That's kind of like a shut up everybody. You know,
- 3:41Speaker 4: that's to shut up everybody. And I don't think that's
- 3:44Speaker 4: his personality now actually come across that way. But for me,
- 3:49Speaker 4: I'm looking at that and and what it shows is
- 3:54Speaker 4: like you really don't know until you give that person
- 3:56Speaker 4: that a true opportunity, and he has to have some
- 4:00Speaker 4: thing around him. Nobody know, the greatest guy by himself
- 4:04Speaker 4: is not gonna be He's not gonna show up great.
- 4:06Speaker 3: It's just not gonna It's just not gonna be that. Now.
- 4:10Speaker 4: Okay, So I thought I was I was rooting for
- 4:15Speaker 4: for Philly. I thought Kansas City was gonna win, and
- 4:19Speaker 4: I had I had, I had said that on the
- 4:22Speaker 4: last show and then said, but I want Philip. Now
- 4:25Speaker 4: what I did not get to your point, Hollins, I
- 4:29Speaker 4: did not. I did not see that defense coming, not
- 4:33Speaker 4: not to that, not not not no, and not against
- 4:37Speaker 4: Kansas City.
- 4:39Speaker 3: Never.
- 4:39Speaker 4: They've never, at any given time since the Mahomes era
- 4:44Speaker 4: era have they had anybody like I mean, they were
- 4:48Speaker 4: beating him down.
- 4:49Speaker 5: Well, I think the Rams did it when they won
- 4:51Speaker 5: the Super Bowl against when they beat the Chiefs in
- 4:54Speaker 5: the Super Bowl.
- 4:54Speaker 3: They did it.
- 4:55Speaker 5: But the Rams also had probably win to the greatest
- 4:57Speaker 5: defensive lineman in Aaron Donalds. So we we're not We're
- 5:00Speaker 5: not necessarily that wasn't necessarily the case for Philly. It
- 5:03Speaker 5: was just like I said, I didn't see that coming
- 5:05Speaker 5: that you would have pure domination. And although, like I said,
- 5:08Speaker 5: Jalen Hursts he deserved. He did a phenomenal job. The
- 5:11Speaker 5: MVP was a defensive line sure, and I wish we
- 5:15Speaker 5: could give out some real MVPs the MVP.
- 5:17Speaker 3: Yes, here's what I hit to your point, because his
- 5:23Speaker 3: play hurts.
- 5:24Speaker 4: He like, man, he played, he did well, okay, there
- 5:28Speaker 4: you why but the defense run that game. The defense
- 5:32Speaker 4: won that game. Now I'm thinking we've got to do
- 5:36Speaker 4: a better job or do we just go out and
- 5:40Speaker 4: you know, we everybody talks about like you know, everybody
- 5:43Speaker 4: gets a trophy. But I'm thinking that in this particular game,
- 5:48Speaker 4: there has to be some kind of an m v
- 5:50Speaker 4: P on the on an offense and defensive side of it.
- 5:55Speaker 4: To me, almost got to do it, Like why can't
- 5:57Speaker 4: we just do it?
- 5:57Speaker 5: Because even like the NFL MVP psych on Barkley was
- 6:00Speaker 5: the NFL MVP. Sure, I don't care what you say.
- 6:03Speaker 5: Josh Allen was, I'm where Jackson wasn't?
- 6:06Speaker 3: It was?
- 6:07Speaker 5: Yes, it was the NFL that team to so they
- 6:11Speaker 5: could get to the point in which they want to
- 6:13Speaker 5: put themself in a position to win a super Bowl.
- 6:16Speaker 5: And just like in the Super Bowl and defensive line.
- 6:18Speaker 5: So just give it to the right person. We don't
- 6:20Speaker 5: need to create more awards.
- 6:22Speaker 4: Just do right and I and I hate as much
- 6:25Speaker 4: as I hate to have to agree with it, I
- 6:27Speaker 4: gotta go with you on that because it's just.
- 6:31Speaker 3: And and again I'll make this case.
- 6:34Speaker 4: We're watching, We're watching right, and the fan base is watching.
- 6:38Speaker 4: Everybody who's interested in the game. We're looking at it,
- 6:41Speaker 4: and the person who's picking it or the group that's
- 6:45Speaker 4: picking what are.
- 6:46Speaker 3: You looking at?
- 6:47Speaker 6: What are you looking at?
- 6:48Speaker 4: Because everybody's saying the same thing. This is not the
- 6:51Speaker 4: first time I've heard this conversation. I'm sure both of
- 6:54Speaker 4: you had this conversation with everybody to talk to since
- 6:56Speaker 4: the game.
- 6:58Speaker 7: I think it goes back to what we were saying
- 7:00Speaker 7: in previous shows about the quarterback position is sexy. You know,
- 7:04Speaker 7: and and and that's what people, uh, the layman fan
- 7:08Speaker 7: that doesn't really know a lot about the NFL or
- 7:10Speaker 7: doesn't understand the game of football. I should say, that's
- 7:13Speaker 7: who they focus on. And so when they're giving out
- 7:15Speaker 7: these awards, they're basically looking at those players that the
- 7:20Speaker 7: crowd's going to recognize over others fans.
- 7:25Speaker 5: Percent and and you when you saying that, I think
- 7:28Speaker 5: to answer your question earlier, because list have just made
- 7:30Speaker 5: me think of something. The reason why this game was
- 7:32Speaker 5: fun I was watching it with was fun to watch.
- 7:35Speaker 5: I was watching it with a college football coach. So
- 7:37Speaker 5: I'm watching it with coach Pennington at State and he's
- 7:40Speaker 5: breaking it down.
- 7:41Speaker 3: Like we're calling that we're breaking like he's giving me.
- 7:46Speaker 5: Basically, we turned that super Bowl party into a film state.
- 7:50Speaker 6: So that's no fun. Were the snacks okay?
- 7:55Speaker 5: Okay, so we're definitely doing that, But we basically turned
- 7:58Speaker 5: their NFL party into a film session. So I think
- 8:00Speaker 5: that's what it was fun for me to watch because
- 8:02Speaker 5: we're just breaking it down.
- 8:03Speaker 4: And seeing I could I could see absolutely like enjoying that,
- 8:07Speaker 4: you know, to sit with, you know, like a coach,
- 8:09Speaker 4: a legitimate coach. That's that the game, knows the game
- 8:13Speaker 4: and listening to listening to him. Now, me, my, my,
- 8:20Speaker 4: Fortunately for me, I'm watching the game with Chuck Foreman.
- 8:24Speaker 4: And for those who do not know Chuck Foreman, Chuck,
- 8:26Speaker 4: Chuck Foreman was back for the Vikings. And he's the
- 8:32Speaker 4: gentleman who created the spin moves. Oh yeah, yeah, he
- 8:37Speaker 4: is the Yeah, he is the he is what they
- 8:40Speaker 4: call the spin doctor.
- 8:41Speaker 3: Okay, the spend Doctor. That's that's his nickname, the spin doctor.
- 8:46Speaker 4: We we we were sitting and we were watching the game,
- 8:50Speaker 4: and we didn't get a chance to like really like
- 8:52Speaker 4: dig down into it. But a couple of things that
- 8:56Speaker 4: he was saying, you know, about like running the football.
- 9:01Speaker 4: He says that running the football still today will win
- 9:05Speaker 4: you a football game, you know. But because the quarterback
- 9:11Speaker 4: has to throw the ball in order to be great.
- 9:14Speaker 3: You know.
- 9:15Speaker 4: Now, if he scrambles, he's good. If he scam scrambles
- 9:18Speaker 4: and he throws the ball, now he's he's he's.
- 9:22Speaker 6: Special, top of the class.
- 9:24Speaker 3: And what is everybody like to see?
- 9:26Speaker 4: Though nobody really likes the ground in pau They don't
- 9:30Speaker 4: really for the most part.
- 9:31Speaker 3: Most people are caught up in the passing game. I
- 9:34Speaker 3: think they're caught up in it.
- 9:35Speaker 5: But like even to your point, like when me and
- 9:38Speaker 5: coach Coach Penningson I were watching the game and we're saying,
- 9:41Speaker 5: because if you look at it, Jalen heart Hurts, he
- 9:43Speaker 5: had like seventy plus yards run. Yes, So we're saying
- 9:47Speaker 5: until your point, I mean, I'll give you credit for
- 9:49Speaker 5: this because you said it at the beginning of the season.
- 9:51Speaker 5: That will excuse me. Even last year during the offseason
- 9:54Speaker 5: free agency, you said why you wouldn't sign this Dak
- 9:56Speaker 5: Prescott because he couldn't run the ball. When you look
- 9:59Speaker 5: at Jaylen Hurt, he's the prototypical pro quarterback now again.
- 10:03Speaker 5: And I say that not because you're not going to
- 10:06Speaker 5: get a Patrick Mahomes.
- 10:07Speaker 4: That's a once in a generation. He's a different he's
- 10:10Speaker 4: a different runner from that.
- 10:11Speaker 5: But what I'm saying standpoint to throw the ball, disability run,
- 10:15Speaker 5: he's different, He's on another level. But I'm saying, if
- 10:18Speaker 5: you looking at a prototypical quarterback who can give you
- 10:21Speaker 5: the perfect balance of being able to throw, make good
- 10:24Speaker 5: decisions and knowing when to run and running effectively, Jalen
- 10:28Speaker 5: Hurts is the prototypical.
- 10:29Speaker 4: Quarterback and the and the reality, yes, and and and
- 10:34Speaker 4: the reality to that is, you know there's like they
- 10:37Speaker 4: their quarterback runs for him, specifically quarterback runs for him. Sure,
- 10:42Speaker 4: so they're not he doesn't have to scramp, he ain't
- 10:44Speaker 4: scrambling out of the pocket. They're making sure that you
- 10:47Speaker 4: are all the time have to worry about him. You
- 10:51Speaker 4: got to play eleven on eleven. You can't say, well,
- 10:54Speaker 4: he'll scramble and run. No, there's a play for him
- 10:57Speaker 4: to run.
- 10:58Speaker 3: As a player.
- 10:58Speaker 4: And I think when you're put that in, I think
- 11:01Speaker 4: that's when you know you've got something. So to me,
- 11:05Speaker 4: I think you know, Philly was they were smart enough
- 11:08Speaker 4: to think, well, hey we can get Jayalen, we can
- 11:12Speaker 4: give him some runs. And we think that you know,
- 11:14Speaker 4: they're gonna have to focus on that. And again that
- 11:17Speaker 4: also slows your d line down. Yeah, because if you
- 11:21Speaker 4: know you got a running quarterback, a design play, you're
- 11:25Speaker 4: not just pass rushing.
- 11:27Speaker 7: Well, I will I will tell you this the post
- 11:29Speaker 7: press conference, the presser after the Super Bowl, Jalen did
- 11:32Speaker 7: give credit. He said one of his comments was defense
- 11:35Speaker 7: wins championships, So he did give credit to his defensive line.
- 11:38Speaker 7: So to you know, to that point that I thought
- 11:40Speaker 7: that was a good thing for him to do.
- 11:42Speaker 3: I hear nobody say that again.
- 11:45Speaker 5: Offense don't win the championship this defense because that defense dominated.
- 11:49Speaker 3: I'm talking about they.
- 11:50Speaker 5: Dominated the best quarterback of this generation just I mean
- 11:54Speaker 5: even the picks, even the interception he threw when they
- 11:57Speaker 5: were backed up in their territory closer on a goal line,
- 12:00Speaker 5: got bumped, the defensive lineman took the offensive linement and
- 12:04Speaker 5: rented into mahomes. He didn't even touch my homes. He
- 12:08Speaker 5: got bumped, and then he made an errand throw because
- 12:10Speaker 5: of that. I mean, it was just phenomenal to watch,
- 12:13Speaker 5: like a defensive front in totality be that dominant.
- 12:18Speaker 4: Did you all see the body language of Kansas City?
- 12:24Speaker 3: I mean it, I mean it got bad quick.
- 12:28Speaker 6: They were like in shock.
- 12:30Speaker 7: I mean they just couldn't believe that a team was
- 12:32Speaker 7: actually doing what they were doing to them. In my opinion,
- 12:35Speaker 7: I mean, they were just like, what is going on here?
- 12:37Speaker 7: We've never seen a team like this?
- 12:39Speaker 4: I mean honestly, it amazed me. Yeah, and you know,
- 12:43Speaker 4: and Hollis, you know this as well as anybody. When
- 12:46Speaker 4: things ain't going well and the quarterbacks getting hit and
- 12:50Speaker 4: throwing them all bad. A lot of times folks wanted,
- 12:53Speaker 4: you know, the linemen wanted like, well, like dude, you
- 12:55Speaker 4: got to do something, and you and then everybody else
- 12:58Speaker 4: is talking about, hey, the old line y'all.
- 12:59Speaker 3: Got to do some protection you that breakup. It does
- 13:03Speaker 3: not take long to happen.
- 13:05Speaker 5: And to your point, that you made like what Philly
- 13:07Speaker 5: was able to do running the ball, and they wore
- 13:09Speaker 5: the Kansas City Chiefs offensive excuse me, defensive line down.
- 13:13Speaker 5: The Chiefs didn't have a counter for that. They and
- 13:16Speaker 5: I think that's probably gonna be a point in this
- 13:18Speaker 5: off season. They're gonna find him running back that you
- 13:21Speaker 5: got to find me a running back because you can't
- 13:23Speaker 5: do that to me where I have to throw fifty.
- 13:25Speaker 3: Times a game.
- 13:26Speaker 6: One dimensional doesn't work.
- 13:27Speaker 5: One dimension don't work when you're getting dominated and you
- 13:29Speaker 5: don't have like like I said, and even the Chiefs
- 13:32Speaker 5: of the receiver, they got pretty good receivers, but they
- 13:34Speaker 5: don't have that good possession, uh Brown that you know
- 13:38Speaker 5: Philly has.
- 13:38Speaker 3: I have that guy.
- 13:40Speaker 4: Yeah, And to your and to that point, it's gonna
- 13:44Speaker 4: be hard, you know, if teams have to find a
- 13:49Speaker 4: running quarterback that can run like Jalen Hurts or Patrick Mahomes.
- 13:54Speaker 3: Right, like, if that's the guy you gotta have, that's
- 13:57Speaker 3: my thought.
- 13:57Speaker 4: You gotta have it, you know, you got to have it.
- 14:00Speaker 4: But you're not gonna get it. But you're not gonna
- 14:01Speaker 4: get to that level and to that point. But I've
- 14:06Speaker 4: got to make sure my my old offensive line can
- 14:10Speaker 4: pass block or run block. And I gotta get me.
- 14:13Speaker 4: I gotta get me a running back.
- 14:15Speaker 5: I think that's the point. You gotta get a run.
- 14:17Speaker 5: You got to get a running back. You gotta make
- 14:19Speaker 5: me worry about the running back.
- 14:21Speaker 3: At least a little bit.
- 14:22Speaker 7: But don't they also have to look at that offensive line.
- 14:24Speaker 7: I mean, don't they have to Maybe I don't know.
- 14:26Speaker 7: I mean that it seemed to me that you saw
- 14:28Speaker 7: some chinks in the armor of the Kansas City Chiefs.
- 14:30Speaker 6: I mean, I'm.
- 14:31Speaker 4: Gonna say this too, they would hurt too, though, I'm
- 14:33Speaker 4: gonna say this to that, and I'm curious to what
- 14:36Speaker 4: you all say back. I just don't know if if
- 14:41Speaker 4: anybody could have dealt with that defensive line. I just
- 14:45Speaker 4: think Philly's d line because again, you go back in
- 14:47Speaker 4: the season, case was fine.
- 14:51Speaker 3: You know they can they can, they can protect them
- 14:53Speaker 3: and all.
- 14:54Speaker 6: This kind of the defense like that.
- 14:55Speaker 3: But that's what I'm saying. That's what I'm saying.
- 14:57Speaker 5: But you also had a guard planing tackle, so and
- 15:00Speaker 5: I think that when you when that happens to you.
- 15:03Speaker 5: And again, what people don't to your point least, if
- 15:05Speaker 5: you don't really know football, you may think, well, office
- 15:08Speaker 5: line is the office lineman.
- 15:09Speaker 3: No.
- 15:09Speaker 4: Now, guard and tackle are two different position, totally different,
- 15:13Speaker 4: and it's two different movements. So when you have a
- 15:16Speaker 4: guard that you have to move him to you, I
- 15:18Speaker 4: think you're right tackle, it's gonna be a long day.
- 15:20Speaker 5: So I don't know if so much. You got to
- 15:22Speaker 5: go out and get a new lineman. I think you
- 15:24Speaker 5: got to get healthy. You may need some some backups.
- 15:27Speaker 7: Well, and they're gonna lose, possibly lose Travis Kelce this year, correct.
- 15:31Speaker 7: I mean he's talking about retirement. He has, he's been
- 15:34Speaker 7: noncommittal about it. He's probably one of his best receivers.
- 15:37Speaker 7: I mean, I know we've talked about how many of
- 15:39Speaker 7: his receivers are about on the same level.
- 15:40Speaker 6: I would think.
- 15:41Speaker 7: Travis is probably probably the best that he's got to
- 15:43Speaker 7: throw to. So that's a hole they'll have to definitely,
- 15:47Speaker 7: you know, look at to Phil.
- 15:48Speaker 3: But do you think that was after a game, after
- 15:51Speaker 3: game emotions?
- 15:52Speaker 7: It's a little bit's been He's been kind of hinting
- 15:55Speaker 7: at it all seasons.
- 15:56Speaker 6: Now this this may have been the nail in the
- 15:58Speaker 6: coffin with this skin. But because he looked pretty pretty
- 16:02Speaker 6: pretty upset after the game, they all did.
- 16:04Speaker 4: But yeah, well, well mister Lewis has to step out.
- 16:08Speaker 4: He's got some business to take care of. So these
- 16:11Speaker 4: it's me and you, Okay, all right, but but I
- 16:14Speaker 4: really you know, when I when I watched the game,
- 16:18Speaker 4: and I was, and I and and to u A's
- 16:20Speaker 4: point that that I could be wrong, could be wrong,
- 16:24Speaker 4: could be wrong, could be wrong on this Hollis come by,
- 16:31Speaker 4: I think what what I what I what I saw?
- 16:36Speaker 4: What what made it not a good game? What what
- 16:39Speaker 4: I was judging the game off of? Was I didn't
- 16:42Speaker 4: see the Chiefs offense. I didn't see my homes.
- 16:48Speaker 3: Be that guy.
- 16:49Speaker 6: He didn't have any chance to be that guy exactly.
- 16:52Speaker 4: And and now that I'm now that we're going through
- 16:54Speaker 4: this process, you know, now I got to think about it. Well,
- 16:57Speaker 4: you know, this was the maybe maybe the first time
- 17:02Speaker 4: that a defense totally.
- 17:05Speaker 3: Took him out of his game, I think it was.
- 17:08Speaker 3: And I'm not even gonna say just.
- 17:10Speaker 4: Him, but just absolutely destroyed that offensive philosophy to no end.
- 17:16Speaker 7: But when you suffer six socks in the Super Bowl,
- 17:20Speaker 7: I bet he hurt the next day.
- 17:21Speaker 6: And I'm not talking just mentally.
- 17:22Speaker 7: I bet physically because they took him down, and they
- 17:25Speaker 7: took him down hard.
- 17:26Speaker 4: But I'm I'm one of the interesting to yes, physically.
- 17:30Speaker 4: But what's interesting to me is you've been this guy
- 17:35Speaker 4: for this X amount of years, you know, and all
- 17:38Speaker 4: of a sudden this shows up. You couldn't have There's
- 17:42Speaker 4: no way he came out expect expecting that or even
- 17:46Speaker 4: thinking this is remotely gonna be how this game's gonna
- 17:49Speaker 4: be right? Right? And then all of a sudden he's
- 17:51Speaker 4: going through that. What is he thinking. I don't think
- 17:56Speaker 4: he's the blame guy. I don't think he's gonna you know,
- 17:58Speaker 4: I don't think I don't see him he's the blame guy.
- 18:00Speaker 4: But I can blame the line.
- 18:03Speaker 6: That would be my focus.
- 18:05Speaker 3: I would line.
- 18:06Speaker 7: And if there were injuries, I didn't realize that a policy.
- 18:09Speaker 7: You know what he stated, and I'm sure it's true
- 18:11Speaker 7: if he stated it, but you know, one injury now
- 18:14Speaker 7: if it was you know, more than one injury on
- 18:16Speaker 7: the line, possibly you could see that would be this
- 18:19Speaker 7: would be the effect of that. But if it's only
- 18:21Speaker 7: like one guy that had to switch positions, that doesn't
- 18:25Speaker 7: explain how the Eagles could get through.
- 18:27Speaker 3: Well here's here's part of that.
- 18:29Speaker 4: Okay, So you've got a guy playing out of position,
- 18:31Speaker 4: you got a backup coming in to play his business.
- 18:33Speaker 6: That's two. That's really two positions.
- 18:36Speaker 4: And I don't know if they were on the same side,
- 18:39Speaker 4: But I don't know if it really would have made
- 18:42Speaker 4: any difference with the way that line, the way they
- 18:45Speaker 4: were coming, the way they were playing defense as aggressiveness
- 18:49Speaker 4: like were I just don't know if their normal guy
- 18:54Speaker 4: if two and I believe two guys can hurt you,
- 18:56Speaker 4: it can get especially on the line.
- 18:58Speaker 3: It can, it can, it can.
- 19:00Speaker 7: And it didn't look like the guys were confused about
- 19:03Speaker 7: where they should be.
- 19:04Speaker 6: I just think they got manhanded.
- 19:05Speaker 4: Yes, I think that's and the interesting the interesting thing
- 19:08Speaker 4: to that is, would that have happened if you know,
- 19:12Speaker 4: again the other you know, I'm playing my regular position
- 19:17Speaker 4: and the guy that's out is back in.
- 19:19Speaker 3: Are we are we that much better of.
- 19:21Speaker 4: A team against this this d line who made us
- 19:25Speaker 4: look like we were nothing.
- 19:28Speaker 7: Well, you know, if you think about throughout the season,
- 19:30Speaker 7: the Chiefs had a couple of suspect games. I mean,
- 19:32Speaker 7: they they weren't the dominating Chiefs that we've come to
- 19:35Speaker 7: know over the past couple of years.
- 19:36Speaker 6: They had some.
- 19:37Speaker 7: Really close games with teams. It wasn't like it it
- 19:41Speaker 7: has been in the past. So they kind of you
- 19:43Speaker 7: kind of got that vibe that when this game started
- 19:46Speaker 7: that if the Eagles could play defense and get to
- 19:50Speaker 7: him with it being a one dimensional type of offense,
- 19:53Speaker 7: which you know, I agree with Hollis they need a
- 19:55Speaker 7: running back, they really do, but being that one dimensional
- 19:59Speaker 7: pas game, once the Eagles figured that out, it was done.
- 20:02Speaker 3: They were cooked, especially once they got up Yeah.
- 20:05Speaker 6: Yeah, sure, I mean it was like what twenty four
- 20:07Speaker 6: to nothing at half?
- 20:09Speaker 3: Do you do you see?
- 20:12Speaker 4: Do you see Kansas City changing? Do you see what
- 20:17Speaker 4: are what are your changes?
- 20:21Speaker 3: Or did we just have a bad day right right?
- 20:25Speaker 7: I would like to explore more information on the offensive
- 20:28Speaker 7: line situation and how many players were out of position
- 20:31Speaker 7: and trying to, you know, take care of that, But
- 20:34Speaker 7: then you'd also have to look back at games where
- 20:36Speaker 7: everybody was playing in their original positions and see how
- 20:39Speaker 7: that worked out for the offensive line. But honestly, I
- 20:42Speaker 7: really feel like they definitely need to look at their
- 20:44Speaker 7: running game. They've got to establish a type of running
- 20:46Speaker 7: game with some type of running back, and they definitely
- 20:49Speaker 7: have to look at the offensive line, you know, to
- 20:51Speaker 7: a degree. You know, maybe it was that played a part,
- 20:54Speaker 7: but to me, that was such a domination. I don't
- 20:57Speaker 7: think that was the total reason.
- 20:59Speaker 4: I don't know, and I didn't watch it, you know,
- 21:02Speaker 4: I hadn't seen Philly really play, probably prior to the playoffs,
- 21:09Speaker 4: But that to me, against what was considered the best
- 21:14Speaker 4: let's say, the best other team, right, it was. I mean,
- 21:20Speaker 4: it was dominating. It was it was.
- 21:23Speaker 7: Do you like close games, It wasn't for you, But
- 21:26Speaker 7: if you like to watch the domination.
- 21:27Speaker 6: Of the Chiefs, it was a good game.
- 21:31Speaker 7: Most of America really they were on that bandwagon. I mean, like,
- 21:34Speaker 7: like we've talked before, people were tired of it. They
- 21:36Speaker 7: were tired of the hype, they were tired of it. Honestly,
- 21:39Speaker 7: they were tired of the things that were going on
- 21:41Speaker 7: outside of the games with you.
- 21:42Speaker 6: Know, Taylor Swift.
- 21:44Speaker 7: I mean, I'm a Taylor Swift fan, but people were
- 21:47Speaker 7: tired of hearing about her and seeing her and all
- 21:49Speaker 7: the hype and you know, just things outside Patrick Mahomes family,
- 21:55Speaker 7: his his wife, you know, the whole dynamic of that.
- 21:57Speaker 7: People were just just tired of it. And you know,
- 22:01Speaker 7: I kind of at some point, at one point, I
- 22:03Speaker 7: did kind of feel bad for the Chiefs because they
- 22:06Speaker 7: just looked so demoralized. They just look like they couldn't
- 22:10Speaker 7: believe what was happening. Did you not get to see that?
- 22:12Speaker 6: On the side of yes, there was just.
- 22:15Speaker 4: I don't you know, I am. I am one hundred
- 22:18Speaker 4: percent sure at some given time during my career, from
- 22:24Speaker 4: college or from high school, whatever, that there was some
- 22:28Speaker 4: at some moment in time that when you lost the game,
- 22:31Speaker 4: the NFC Championship game that we lost to the Redskins,
- 22:34Speaker 4: Sure that was probably that could possibly be the most
- 22:40Speaker 4: challenging moment for me because you're that one game away
- 22:45Speaker 4: from the great Super Bowl, right and and you lose it,
- 22:50Speaker 4: you know, and you know, and what's interesting to me
- 22:54Speaker 4: and I'm I would not that we could ever find
- 22:56Speaker 4: this out, but as the as the players who play
- 23:00Speaker 4: in that game and lose, I know, for our team,
- 23:06Speaker 4: I can't speak this for other teams, But when you
- 23:10Speaker 4: start to try to look at the game and try
- 23:13Speaker 4: to you know, whether you want to try to pass
- 23:15Speaker 4: blame somewhere, Sure, it's so hard to do because in
- 23:20Speaker 4: those games, there's there's no way you can go through
- 23:24Speaker 4: that game and not get beat, not miss a tackle,
- 23:26Speaker 4: not do something that could have impact, something that could
- 23:29Speaker 4: have changed the game. You know, you give up a
- 23:32Speaker 4: touchdown and you lose, but you didn't lose by that touchdown.
- 23:36Speaker 4: You lost my four touchdowns and gave up one. Well, still,
- 23:39Speaker 4: you gave up one part of that.
- 23:42Speaker 7: Don't you think the margin of victory is also plays
- 23:45Speaker 7: a huge factor in the mindset of the of the
- 23:47Speaker 7: team because it wasn't just a loss by like a
- 23:50Speaker 7: field goal. It was a dominating loss. It was an
- 23:53Speaker 7: embarrassing Yet this loss to.
- 23:56Speaker 4: The Chiefs maybe to me one of the biggest losses
- 24:02Speaker 4: that I that I've seen in recent.
- 24:04Speaker 6: Super Bowl Super Bowls.
- 24:06Speaker 4: I agree, And I don't even go even in the playoffs,
- 24:09Speaker 4: you know, like I just even in the season, like
- 24:12Speaker 4: you typically kind of know who's going to win the
- 24:14Speaker 4: game when they walk into the game, or you say,
- 24:16Speaker 4: like everybody was saying this is gonna be a great game.
- 24:19Speaker 1: Right, right?
- 24:20Speaker 6: No, it really, I mean it wasn't a close.
- 24:23Speaker 3: It wasn't a close.
- 24:24Speaker 4: Game, right, and it was it was literally dominated by
- 24:28Speaker 4: the team that everybody thought was gonna lose, right.
- 24:30Speaker 7: And I really felt like at halftime when they went
- 24:32Speaker 7: into the locker room down twenty six to nothing, I thought,
- 24:35Speaker 7: or twenty four to nothing. Sorry, I really felt like, Okay,
- 24:37Speaker 7: they're gonna come back out. You know, they're going to
- 24:40Speaker 7: have a game plan. You know, Andy Reid's gonna, you know,
- 24:43Speaker 7: work his magic. Patrick Mahomes is going to get some
- 24:45Speaker 7: more time. The offensive line is going to you know,
- 24:47Speaker 7: fill in those holes and gaps and you know, Jael
- 24:50Speaker 7: and kind of hold the defense so that he has
- 24:53Speaker 7: some time to throw the ball.
- 24:54Speaker 4: It never happened, right, And and I think part of
- 24:59Speaker 4: the reason, you know, and the hype of offense, the
- 25:04Speaker 4: predominant fan base of offenses, quarterbacks and receivers and all
- 25:09Speaker 4: that kind of stuff.
- 25:10Speaker 3: I think what we what we've seen though. I think
- 25:13Speaker 3: what we see.
- 25:15Speaker 4: And I keep saying it is this transition going back
- 25:19Speaker 4: to being able to run the football.
- 25:20Speaker 3: Yes, And what may be new to it is your.
- 25:24Speaker 4: Quarterback is actually being part of that running system as well.
- 25:28Speaker 4: I think, I think and I don't think that that
- 25:31Speaker 4: the defenses are set up to take take on the run.
- 25:36Speaker 3: I don't think the secondary.
- 25:39Speaker 6: Are not yet, not yet, not yet.
- 25:41Speaker 4: I don't think the secondary is prepared for making tackles
- 25:43Speaker 4: of a back, you know.
- 25:45Speaker 3: Six one, six two two thirty two forty.
- 25:48Speaker 4: I don't think that that's what they're That's not what
- 25:51Speaker 4: their game playing is about.
- 25:53Speaker 7: And that's kind of going back to what we said
- 25:55Speaker 7: about the one dimensional offense with Patrick Mahomes and they're
- 25:58Speaker 7: in their game with you know, passing the ball. I
- 26:00Speaker 7: wonder if it would have been a different game if
- 26:02Speaker 7: they'd had a solid running back that could run the
- 26:05Speaker 7: ball and kind of take the pressure off of Patrick Mahomes.
- 26:07Speaker 7: It seemed like he had to pass almost every play
- 26:09Speaker 7: and put pressure.
- 26:10Speaker 3: On the defense to to not just up just because.
- 26:14Speaker 7: Just to cover the receivers. Basically, they knew what he
- 26:17Speaker 7: was doing and put pressure on That was it. That's
- 26:18Speaker 7: all they had to do, and they did it well.
- 26:20Speaker 4: Floyd Peters was our was our defensive coordinator when I
- 26:25Speaker 4: was there, and of course Pete Carroll was the secondary
- 26:29Speaker 4: coach and.
- 26:32Speaker 3: The defense that we played was and everybody knew it.
- 26:35Speaker 3: It was.
- 26:35Speaker 4: It was an attacking defense, right, but we were playing
- 26:39Speaker 4: man to man.
- 26:40Speaker 6: Sure.
- 26:41Speaker 4: Now I'm not saying that you know, can't if they
- 26:46Speaker 4: can't play man the man.
- 26:47Speaker 3: But if you're gonna if you're going to try to
- 26:49Speaker 3: win a football game and.
- 26:51Speaker 4: You want to try to get pressure on the quarterback,
- 26:54Speaker 4: I mean, you gotta go and you got to lock
- 26:56Speaker 4: up outside and you've got to be willing to you know,
- 26:59Speaker 4: just play.
- 27:00Speaker 3: It's a man man. You can't play any kind.
- 27:01Speaker 4: Of zone soft soft coverage and you're not getting you're
- 27:05Speaker 4: not getting any pressure.
- 27:07Speaker 3: Sure you're I mean you.
- 27:08Speaker 6: You got no shot, right right? So interesting?
- 27:13Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 27:13Speaker 7: Well, and and and here's my fine. I wanted to
- 27:16Speaker 7: see what you thought about this. I mean, I think
- 27:18Speaker 7: the Eagles look so strong on both sides of the ball.
- 27:20Speaker 7: I can see them repeating I can see them being
- 27:22Speaker 7: the next Kansas City Chiefs dynasty. I really can't. I
- 27:26Speaker 7: don't see another team in the league that looked as
- 27:28Speaker 7: good as them this year. I mean, and I'm I'm
- 27:31Speaker 7: a Pickers fan.
- 27:32Speaker 4: Come on, you know, I think and and me, I
- 27:38Speaker 4: hate to say this because it's it'll sound crazy. I
- 27:40Speaker 4: think there are teams that are that are that are
- 27:43Speaker 4: still just a step away that may may fix what
- 27:47Speaker 4: they need. I think the Vikings are one of those
- 27:49Speaker 4: teams that are just missing, just just missing a little bit, okay.
- 27:56Speaker 3: And and so there's.
- 27:57Speaker 4: There are a few teams like that that are that
- 28:00Speaker 4: are that are really really I think, just a few
- 28:02Speaker 4: players away.
- 28:04Speaker 3: Now, Kansas City does not need a lot you know
- 28:11Speaker 3: what I'm saying.
- 28:12Speaker 4: I mean, if they can, if they look at it
- 28:15Speaker 4: and say, you know what we need. We need somebody
- 28:17Speaker 4: that they have to be worried about on the outside.
- 28:19Speaker 4: We need somebody that can go deep.
- 28:22Speaker 3: We need to speed on the outside.
- 28:23Speaker 4: Sure, and we need a guy that we can run
- 28:25Speaker 4: the ball fifteen sixteen eighteen times in the in the game.
- 28:30Speaker 6: And just take a look at the offensive line.
- 28:32Speaker 3: Yes, take a look at it.
- 28:34Speaker 6: Okay.
- 28:34Speaker 7: So here's the other part of it. And I'll throw
- 28:36Speaker 7: this out. You're the football player, I'm.
- 28:38Speaker 6: Just just the queen. The queen.
- 28:41Speaker 7: So okay, let's say Kansas City has all the pieces
- 28:44Speaker 7: back in place. Next year, they run the table, they
- 28:46Speaker 7: get to the super Bowl again, do you not think
- 28:48Speaker 7: a defeat like this will not play a mental factor
- 28:53Speaker 7: next year? If they if they end up in the
- 28:56Speaker 7: super Bowl. Kind of like that. I don't know, just
- 28:59Speaker 7: that embarrassment hanging over your head and trying too hard,
- 29:03Speaker 7: like you can you can have that mentality that you're
- 29:05Speaker 7: trying so hard.
- 29:06Speaker 6: That you're not doing the things that you need to
- 29:09Speaker 6: do on the field. Does that make sense?
- 29:10Speaker 3: It does totally. I'm gonna go out.
- 29:14Speaker 7: Way yes, yeah, it's a super I'm gonna I'm gonna
- 29:19Speaker 7: go way out on a limb way early.
- 29:24Speaker 3: I don't see Kansas City going.
- 29:25Speaker 6: To the Super Bowl next year.
- 29:28Speaker 3: Next year, I don't see it.
- 29:30Speaker 7: And you think, because they have just so many things
- 29:32Speaker 7: they need to fix in that amount of time.
- 29:35Speaker 4: I think the things that they it's perfect when you're winning,
- 29:39Speaker 4: but when you fall apart in a game like that. Now,
- 29:44Speaker 4: my loyalty to that team not me, not me, not
- 29:47Speaker 4: during my time, but in this time. My loyalty now
- 29:51Speaker 4: is if my contract's up.
- 29:52Speaker 6: Oh that's another good.
- 29:56Speaker 4: Yes, I'm more than willing because you know what, we're done,
- 30:00Speaker 4: our runs done.
- 30:01Speaker 3: Even though you may have gone to the super Bowl.
- 30:03Speaker 6: Right you see the writing on the wall.
- 30:05Speaker 4: You see the writing on the wall. Maybe we're on
- 30:07Speaker 4: our way down. So there's no reason for me to
- 30:10Speaker 4: stay here.
- 30:11Speaker 7: Yeah, so that's going to be another part that's going
- 30:13Speaker 7: to play a factor in it.
- 30:14Speaker 3: I think that is I think that is something that.
- 30:19Speaker 7: What about do you do you think Patrick Mahomes would
- 30:21Speaker 7: even consider if the right deal came along leaving the Chiefs.
- 30:25Speaker 6: I don't, especially if Travis Kelce retires. I mean, I
- 30:27Speaker 6: don't know.
- 30:28Speaker 3: I don't think that.
- 30:29Speaker 4: I don't think PET know what his contract is, Like
- 30:31Speaker 4: I was gonna say, I don't think that.
- 30:33Speaker 3: I don't think the Chiefs would let him be out.
- 30:35Speaker 7: There, not yet, not yet, not yet, contract don't I
- 30:41Speaker 7: don't know when it's up.
- 30:42Speaker 4: But I would think that they would have him locked
- 30:44Speaker 4: in for sure right now, just right, oh sure.
- 30:49Speaker 7: Just because pastor Yeah yeah, and he's he is awesome
- 30:53Speaker 7: and he's still great. Yeah, he's still great. Nothing taken
- 30:55Speaker 7: away from him. He just didn't have time to do
- 30:57Speaker 7: what he needed.
- 30:58Speaker 4: And I think that we have to do is we
- 31:00Speaker 4: have to try or they have to do, is we
- 31:02Speaker 4: have to try to get them into into a situation
- 31:06Speaker 4: where they can run the football. And they got it
- 31:10Speaker 4: running back, an offensive lineman, and a good deep threat receiver.
- 31:15Speaker 3: But ladies did them. We're gonna take a quick break
- 31:17Speaker 3: and we'll be right back.

- 32:38Speaker 7: just say this first, welcome home Pat White.
- 32:41Speaker 6: Right, everybody's excited. This is great news.
- 32:43Speaker 7: Rich Rod has acquired Pat as his quarterback and wide
- 32:48Speaker 7: receivers coach, I believe, and just quarterbacks coach. Sorry, And
- 32:51Speaker 7: so he's he's going to be a part of the
- 32:53Speaker 7: team next year. He's gonna be on the sidelines of Morgantown.
- 32:56Speaker 7: He's got so much experience, He's got a vast His
- 33:00Speaker 7: resume is unbelievable. Since he played wor at w from
- 33:05Speaker 7: two thousand and five to two thousand and eight, he
- 33:07Speaker 7: has coached in various positions at four different colleges, small
- 33:12Speaker 7: colleges which were Campbell University, Alabama State, USF, and Alcorn State.
- 33:18Speaker 7: And so to me, before I go any further with
- 33:21Speaker 7: his resume, this is going to.
- 33:22Speaker 6: Be a key.
- 33:25Speaker 7: Advantage to having Pat on the sidelines in Morgantown because
- 33:29Speaker 7: he has that connection when it comes to the transfer portal.
- 33:32Speaker 6: He can look at those schools.
- 33:34Speaker 7: He may see a player that you know, bigger schools
- 33:37Speaker 7: have overlooked, and because they have that connection with Pat
- 33:40Speaker 7: and know who he is and know that he was
- 33:41Speaker 7: a part of their staff, he's probably going to be
- 33:44Speaker 7: able to make an acquisition of a player a little
- 33:46Speaker 7: bit easier than some other coaches could, especially at.
- 33:49Speaker 4: The huge advantage for the for the recruit the recruiting process,
- 33:53Speaker 4: I think.
- 33:53Speaker 6: I think so, especially for the mid tier schools.
- 33:57Speaker 7: He also, I don't know if many people know this,
- 33:59Speaker 7: probably most to he spent two years as the offensive
- 34:02Speaker 7: assistant coach with the LA Chargers, which was pretty pretty amazing.
- 34:07Speaker 7: He was the quarterback and wide receivers coach there, so
- 34:10Speaker 7: when he was under their tenure as the quarterback wide
- 34:14Speaker 7: receivers coach, he secured the number two passing offense in
- 34:17Speaker 7: the NFL and they had a playoff berth. So that's
- 34:21Speaker 7: pretty impressive on his resume. Also, he has been inducted
- 34:25Speaker 7: into the WU Sports Hall of Fame. Of course when
- 34:30Speaker 7: he was there playing for w that he won four
- 34:33Speaker 7: Bowl games all four years that he started. That would
- 34:36Speaker 7: be and these aren't the small ones. One was small
- 34:38Speaker 7: that was the Monukey Carcare. But he also won a
- 34:41Speaker 7: Sugar Bowl, a Gator Bowl, and a Fiesta Bowl, So
- 34:44Speaker 7: those aren't those aren't lower tier. Yeah, and top it
- 34:48Speaker 7: all off, on top of all of that, he's a
- 34:50Speaker 7: baseball player as well, and he had, yes, he had
- 34:54Speaker 7: been drafted by Major League Baseball teams at one point
- 34:57Speaker 7: in his career. So he is a well rounded guy.
- 35:01Speaker 7: He's well liked, he's a hero in West Virginia. Everybody
- 35:04Speaker 7: remembers the Sugar Bowl and the big defeat of Georgia.
- 35:07Speaker 7: I just think it's a great, great fit up there.
- 35:12Speaker 4: I think when I found this out, like I was like, oh,
- 35:20Speaker 4: because you know, I kind of had distanced myself, I
- 35:23Speaker 4: guess from that name. You know, I hadn't hadn't heard
- 35:26Speaker 4: it in a while, and all of a sudden, when
- 35:28Speaker 4: I hear this, I'm like, oh, well, wow, think about
- 35:33Speaker 4: the quarterback now. And to me, I really believe quarterbacks
- 35:39Speaker 4: kind of have to be taught by quarterbacks. I just think,
- 35:43Speaker 4: as I think, it's just such a unique position.
- 35:46Speaker 3: And I'm not saying that just you know, just any coach.
- 35:49Speaker 4: I'm not saying that a coach can't coach a quarterback
- 35:52Speaker 4: and can't tell him the steps and all that, but
- 35:55Speaker 4: I think the real the realization of everything that goes
- 35:59Speaker 4: along with the quarterback. I think I think having a
- 36:02Speaker 4: quarterback coach that played quarterback and in Pat White situation
- 36:08Speaker 4: like that name that's going to resonate and if the
- 36:13Speaker 4: kids are too young to remember him, they'll look him up.
- 36:16Speaker 3: Mom and dad will Mom and.
- 36:17Speaker 4: Dad will remember for sure for sure. But yeah, I
- 36:20Speaker 4: think I think this. I think this is a major
- 36:23Speaker 4: I think this is a major step.
- 36:25Speaker 3: And I think.
- 36:27Speaker 4: His future is head coach. In my mind, I think
- 36:31Speaker 4: his future is ultimately going to be a head coach.
- 36:33Speaker 7: I could see that, especially even in Morgantown. I mean,
- 36:36Speaker 7: we all know rich Rod. I mean, who knows he
- 36:39Speaker 7: could be there. I don't know what another ten fifteen years,
- 36:42Speaker 7: maybe maybe most, but if nothing else, Pat White will
- 36:47Speaker 7: definitely be maybe promoted to an offensive coordinator at some point.
- 36:50Speaker 4: I think he's I think he's going to have. I
- 36:52Speaker 4: think he's going to have the success of that success
- 36:59Speaker 4: that I think he's going to have. I think he's
- 37:02Speaker 4: not gonna have. He's not going to be able to
- 37:03Speaker 4: wait at WVU. Oh no, no, spot, He's I think
- 37:07Speaker 4: he's going to be the moment he gets in and
- 37:10Speaker 4: all of a sudden, quarterbacks are thrown the ball. Well,
- 37:12Speaker 4: the yards and stats are great, I'm thinking somebody else
- 37:17Speaker 4: over here has got a quarterback or a coach that's
- 37:19Speaker 4: that's got a couple of years still left.
- 37:21Speaker 6: That's his alma mater.
- 37:22Speaker 3: Though.
- 37:23Speaker 6: You know, I get I played there.
- 37:24Speaker 3: I get that.
- 37:25Speaker 4: But if he doesn't have it, to your point, rich right,
- 37:28Speaker 4: how long is he going to be there? Well, I
- 37:31Speaker 4: don't think he has the chance to. I think that's
- 37:33Speaker 4: a go somewhere, come back.
- 37:35Speaker 7: Okay, is what I think that well, or this think
- 37:37Speaker 7: about this scenario. Let's say the offense is producing and
- 37:40Speaker 7: they're doing well, and they're winning games with offense, and
- 37:42Speaker 7: the quarterback play and all all of those things, wide
- 37:44Speaker 7: receiver play wouldn't wouldn't a college more so, look at
- 37:48Speaker 7: the offensive coordinator position.
- 37:51Speaker 6: So that should be his way in, is what I'm saying.
- 37:53Speaker 7: Oh, like a school could come in and say, Okay,
- 37:55Speaker 7: your offense is doing great, we're going to steal your coordinator.
- 37:57Speaker 7: We want him absolutely, and then what happens past moves
- 38:00Speaker 7: up into that position. So that could be a scenario
- 38:03Speaker 7: as well.
- 38:03Speaker 3: I think either one.
- 38:04Speaker 4: But I do like, I do like that path, and
- 38:08Speaker 4: I just don't know, and I'll be honest, I just
- 38:10Speaker 4: don't know how it won't be good, Like I just
- 38:13Speaker 4: don't know, you know, unless there's just not the players
- 38:17Speaker 4: there that that that that.
- 38:20Speaker 3: Can do the things that he wants them to do.
- 38:23Speaker 4: That's the only way that I can see this happening
- 38:26Speaker 4: not happening, because I just think he's that perfect guy
- 38:30Speaker 4: to be in the coaching situation.
- 38:33Speaker 3: And again, oh see, and.
- 38:37Speaker 4: I'm and I'm I'm gonna change my mind a little
- 38:39Speaker 4: bit and say, maybe oh SE's even better for him,
- 38:41Speaker 4: but maybe the head coach, unless he's gonna be the
- 38:43Speaker 4: head coach, is gonna that's gonna run the offense right.
- 38:46Speaker 7: Right well and and and that's possible too, But I
- 38:50Speaker 7: really feel like it's gonna be a process there because
- 38:53Speaker 7: he's had stints at different places, so obviously he's he's
- 38:58Speaker 7: had some success, but not another to stay in one
- 39:00Speaker 7: place and be promoted to, you know, a coordinator or
- 39:04Speaker 7: even I think he's been a head coach maybe at
- 39:06Speaker 7: one of the smaller schools, or maybe not a head coach,
- 39:09Speaker 7: but maybe like an offensive coordinator.
- 39:10Speaker 6: I would have to research that more. But obviously if
- 39:14Speaker 6: he gets to w.
- 39:15Speaker 7: And they experienced success on the offensive side of the ball,
- 39:19Speaker 7: his path is made for him.
- 39:20Speaker 6: You know, he's starting here.
- 39:21Speaker 7: He could end up as an offensive coordinator for a
- 39:24Speaker 7: number of years. Let's say rich Brod decides this is
- 39:27Speaker 7: it for me, then he steps right into that position.
- 39:30Speaker 7: I mean, it's it's a golden path if he chooses
- 39:32Speaker 7: to take it.
- 39:33Speaker 4: And imagine him and rich Rod, I mean just just
- 39:36Speaker 4: talking right football, right.
- 39:39Speaker 3: Just imagine them two in the room, sitting talking football.
- 39:42Speaker 3: I mean, I want to be there. I want to be.
- 39:46Speaker 7: All right. But yeah, I think that I think it's
- 39:49Speaker 7: a great acquisition. Definitely, Morgantown's going to be It's going
- 39:52Speaker 7: to be just dynamic this fall. I think people I think,
- 39:56Speaker 7: you know, the ticket sales are going to go back up.
- 39:59Speaker 7: People are I did with all these new changes and
- 40:02Speaker 7: having the traditions from the past come in and be,
- 40:05Speaker 7: you know, back in the coaching positions that they were
- 40:07Speaker 7: and we had success with these these people.
- 40:09Speaker 6: Yes, So there's a lot of hope for Mountaineer fans.
- 40:13Speaker 4: And anytime you get to have, you know, like a
- 40:16Speaker 4: legacy player like that and you get to have them
- 40:19Speaker 4: have him on your coaching staff, and the higher he
- 40:24Speaker 4: is in that status, you're talking about bringing more fans
- 40:29Speaker 4: back because now they remember him as a player, and
- 40:33Speaker 4: because they remember him as a player, man, we're coming back.
- 40:36Speaker 6: Sure, you know.
- 40:37Speaker 4: So sometimes when the record's not all what it wanted,
- 40:41Speaker 4: what it needed to be, and all that kind of stuff,
- 40:43Speaker 4: and people are, you know, the fan base are kind
- 40:45Speaker 4: of walking out, I think you're going to have a
- 40:48Speaker 4: whole lot more walking back in sure now.
- 40:52Speaker 7: And I think that was the whole point of hiring
- 40:55Speaker 7: rich Rodback. They knew they needed a name. They couldn't
- 40:59Speaker 7: just hire an unproven offensive coordinator or defensive coordinator from
- 41:04Speaker 7: an equal size school or a small school. They knew
- 41:08Speaker 7: we were we were in code red in Morgantown. It
- 41:11Speaker 7: was Code red and the past few years, fans were disgruntled.
- 41:15Speaker 7: They'd been calling for, you know, to fire Neil Brown
- 41:17Speaker 7: for a number of years, and so they knew that
- 41:22Speaker 7: they were in this emergency mode and they brought in
- 41:25Speaker 7: these names that are that are going to help bring
- 41:28Speaker 7: in the fans again.
- 41:29Speaker 4: Do you think that do you think that these hires
- 41:32Speaker 4: and this is not to be meant as like not
- 41:35Speaker 4: qualified that's my first I'm not even even thinking about that. Sure,
- 41:40Speaker 4: but do you think that this was a well fought
- 41:42Speaker 4: out plan of bringing back people that that that the
- 41:47Speaker 4: fan base can absolutely relate to and and maybe even
- 41:51Speaker 4: be patient with them because of who they are. Sure
- 41:55Speaker 4: do you think that that that could have been part of.
- 41:58Speaker 7: The draw Probably, I think definitely for bringing rich Rod back.
- 42:02Speaker 7: But see, rich Rod is hiring his own staff and
- 42:05Speaker 7: his own people, so he doesn't want to bring anybody
- 42:07Speaker 7: in there other than the fact that they're qualified and
- 42:09Speaker 7: they're going.
- 42:09Speaker 6: To help him win games.
- 42:11Speaker 7: To me, so he's the one hiring Pat White, He's
- 42:15Speaker 7: the one hiring all his surrounding.
- 42:17Speaker 6: Casts, so to speak.
- 42:19Speaker 7: I think that the hire of rich definitely what you
- 42:22Speaker 7: said played in played a part in bringing him back
- 42:24Speaker 7: to Morgantown. But the surrounding cast, the surrounding assistant coaches,
- 42:29Speaker 7: that's all on him. Because he knows he's got to produce.
- 42:32Speaker 7: He will have some leeway. But I'm telling you right now,
- 42:35Speaker 7: if he starts losing to Pitt and losing games in general,
- 42:39Speaker 7: I don't care who you are, you're going to be
- 42:41Speaker 7: in the hot seat.
- 42:41Speaker 4: But see, and to that point, I think where we
- 42:48Speaker 4: are now and where and how we blame you know,
- 42:53Speaker 4: blame coaches. Sure, there's a lot of stuff that that
- 42:59Speaker 4: that's inside of that and and and I think that's
- 43:05Speaker 4: it's more than just it's it's really just it's more
- 43:08Speaker 4: than just who's coaching.
- 43:09Speaker 3: It's it's the whole structure.
- 43:12Speaker 4: Okay, And I'm gonna I'm gonna shift this into I'm
- 43:15Speaker 4: gonna go to high school.
- 43:18Speaker 3: South Charleston High School, their coach, coach Wrestler, stepped down.
- 43:25Speaker 4: And you know, I think everybody or a lot of folks,
- 43:29Speaker 4: if you if you have Facebook, you can you can
- 43:32Speaker 4: you can read you know, some of the things that
- 43:35Speaker 4: he said.
- 43:40Speaker 3: I think high school football.
- 43:45Speaker 4: Is extremely difficult for a for a coach to quote
- 43:53Speaker 4: what we what we used to say is rebuild a program.
- 43:59Speaker 4: I think the the idea of rebuilding a program you
- 44:01Speaker 4: have to either do you either have to go out
- 44:04Speaker 4: of your school and go find.
- 44:06Speaker 6: You have to recruit.
- 44:07Speaker 3: You have to recruit kids.
- 44:10Speaker 4: You have to recruit kids from other places to come
- 44:13Speaker 4: to your come to come play for you. If you
- 44:17Speaker 4: try to build on what you have, you're gonna be
- 44:22Speaker 4: sitting in a situation where you have a ninth you
- 44:24Speaker 4: may be playing a ninth or tenth grader against the
- 44:26Speaker 4: twelfth against the twelfth.
- 44:27Speaker 7: Grade, which becomes a safety issue, which had becomes a
- 44:30Speaker 7: safety issue.
- 44:31Speaker 4: And we're gonna and we're gonna and and as as
- 44:34Speaker 4: South Charleston continuously becomes winless season after season and have
- 44:41Speaker 4: been there, okay and seeing it, I my my, my
- 44:48Speaker 4: problem with the huge gap between.
- 44:54Speaker 3: South Charleston being able to have a chance to rebuild.
- 44:59Speaker 4: It comes back to kids not wanting to go through
- 45:03Speaker 4: that that growth. They don't want to being part of
- 45:09Speaker 4: Marshall's turnaround to be able to say I could I
- 45:11Speaker 4: can say that I was part of Marshall's turnaround when
- 45:14Speaker 4: I was there and we won how many ever, maybe eight, nine, ten,
- 45:19Speaker 4: twelve games max in four years, But I get to
- 45:23Speaker 4: say that we I was part of that.
- 45:25Speaker 6: You heard the lifetime.
- 45:27Speaker 4: We we did win some games, and we did beat
- 45:29Speaker 4: some teams that we hadn't beaten a long time.
- 45:33Speaker 3: But I don't think that's enough now for parents.
- 45:36Speaker 4: I don't I'm not even gonna I'm gonna go past
- 45:39Speaker 4: the kid. I'm going to go to the parents. I
- 45:42Speaker 4: think parents want rightfully, so they want what's best for
- 45:47Speaker 4: their kids. Sure, and that is winning. That is being
- 45:50Speaker 4: part of a winning culture, because you'd think having that
- 45:53Speaker 4: winning culture is what you.
- 45:55Speaker 3: Want for your child.
- 45:58Speaker 4: But I'm gonna make and I think there's a whole
- 46:01Speaker 4: lot of athletes will say adversity is really where you
- 46:06Speaker 4: learn lessons, where you get where you get life lessons.
- 46:09Speaker 3: Sure, and we went three and thirteen my second year
- 46:14Speaker 3: in Minnesota.
- 46:15Speaker 4: I had guys who hadn't lost two games in four
- 46:18Speaker 4: years at college.
- 46:21Speaker 3: They had no idea how to handle that situation.
- 46:23Speaker 6: For me, He's been there, done that.
- 46:27Speaker 3: This is not hockey, you know. I'm sitting on the Yeah,
- 46:32Speaker 3: I'm sitting Let's go, guys, it's next series. Let's go.
- 46:36Speaker 4: And I just think, I think, I think, and I'm
- 46:40Speaker 4: making this plea to the parents to let your kid
- 46:44Speaker 4: experience life.
- 46:46Speaker 3: As it comes to them.
- 46:48Speaker 4: It sounds good, It sounds important that I need to
- 46:52Speaker 4: put my kid in the best situation that I possibly can.
- 46:55Speaker 4: I swear, I get that I do sports, not so much.
- 47:02Speaker 4: He needs she needs to face some adversity. How does
- 47:06Speaker 4: he or she handle that adversity? You're sitting on there,
- 47:10Speaker 4: You're sitting in the bleachers, and your kids is pouting,
- 47:13Speaker 4: and because you haven't won a game. Your kid's pouting
- 47:15Speaker 4: and he's acting like he don't really want to even
- 47:17Speaker 4: be out there. The conversation you need to be having.
- 47:21Speaker 3: With him or her every.
- 47:24Speaker 4: Time that you go out on that field. You need
- 47:27Speaker 4: to make yourself proud. You need to play the best
- 47:32Speaker 4: that you possibly can. Then once you get to that level,
- 47:36Speaker 4: when you're playing, now I can reach over and say, hey, said,
- 47:38Speaker 4: come on, come on, now, we can start, because it's
- 47:43Speaker 4: just it just takes an individual to stay focused into
- 47:48Speaker 4: what you want, and and and and I and and
- 47:53Speaker 4: Hollis's argument to me about about about saying everybody's not
- 47:57Speaker 4: gonna make it.
- 47:58Speaker 3: To the pros.
- 47:58Speaker 6: Yeah, I heard that, and so.
- 48:02Speaker 3: So do let me finish this.
- 48:04Speaker 6: And not No, it's good, so I like it.
- 48:06Speaker 3: Here's my thing. I'm not saying that.
- 48:09Speaker 4: I'm not telling everybody that you to play to go pro, play.
- 48:17Speaker 3: To go D one. I'm not saying that. Now.
- 48:20Speaker 4: If you want that, that's a whole nother work ethic.
- 48:23Speaker 6: Sure, But when just because you.
- 48:27Speaker 4: Just want to play and have fun, you can't just
- 48:30Speaker 4: play and have fun because you're hurting your team. Yeah,
- 48:33Speaker 4: if you're not working, if you're not working extra, if
- 48:36Speaker 4: you're not being the best that you can beat, right,
- 48:38Speaker 4: you're hurting your team.
- 48:40Speaker 7: Yeah, And to your point, I want to say this
- 48:43Speaker 7: that I'm going to go a step further with what
- 48:45Speaker 7: you're saying with the parents. I think what has to
- 48:48Speaker 7: happen at that high school level is we have to
- 48:50Speaker 7: build teamwork. Yes, we have to build relationships. We have
- 48:55Speaker 7: to have that mentality that you know, we're all in
- 48:58Speaker 7: this together. We're all going to do our part. We're
- 49:01Speaker 7: all gonna play our very best on every single series
- 49:03Speaker 7: of plays. Not about me and what I'm able to do,
- 49:07Speaker 7: and if I'm not doing it, I'm just gonna quit.
- 49:09Speaker 7: I'm just gonna quit playing because it's all about me.
- 49:11Speaker 7: It's not about my friend over here, you know that.
- 49:14Speaker 7: But place defensive line or offensive line, this is about
- 49:17Speaker 7: me and what I can do.
- 49:18Speaker 6: We need to.
- 49:19Speaker 7: Change that mentality and get back to being able to
- 49:24Speaker 7: get those boys out there on the field or girls
- 49:26Speaker 7: to gel and depend on each other, because that's why
- 49:30Speaker 7: it's a team sport. That's what's wrong. And I think
- 49:33Speaker 7: we've talked about this before. I think this is the
- 49:35Speaker 7: whole breakdown in the high school football world is that
- 49:40Speaker 7: we are focused on individuals and not teams.
- 49:44Speaker 3: Yeah, my son's playing high school football.
- 49:48Speaker 4: He's the he's the he's the quarterback, and he's one
- 49:51Speaker 4: of the top players. We don't have enough lineman. You know,
- 49:56Speaker 4: he's been getting hit a few times. I don't like that.
- 49:59Speaker 4: You know, he let's say he's a he's a sophomore. Well,
- 50:02Speaker 4: you know what I'm gonna I'm tell you what I'm
- 50:05Speaker 4: gonna do. I'm gonna take my kids somewhere where he's
- 50:08Speaker 4: gonna A coach is gonna tell me he's gonna play,
- 50:11Speaker 4: and they already got a good line. So I'm gonna
- 50:15Speaker 4: take my kid there. So what I've just done was
- 50:19Speaker 4: I've took I've taken him and put him in a
- 50:21Speaker 4: better situation and took him out of a situation that.
- 50:27Speaker 3: He's just he's better than and the and the and
- 50:29Speaker 3: the team isn't good enough for him. Everything about that is.
- 50:33Speaker 7: Selfish, absolutely selfish, And I think that I think the
- 50:37Speaker 7: way to I don't even know if this is the
- 50:39Speaker 7: answer or a way to get around it, is make
- 50:42Speaker 7: sure those kids do a lot of team building activities.
- 50:46Speaker 6: Yes, make them loyal to.
- 50:48Speaker 7: Each other, because then when mom and dad says, okay,
- 50:51Speaker 7: little Johnny, we're gonna take you to this school. We're
- 50:53Speaker 7: gonna go from school way to school B because they
- 50:56Speaker 7: have a better team. And the little Johnny says, no,
- 50:58Speaker 7: this is my team. These are my friends. We play together.
- 51:02Speaker 7: I'm here to be a part of this dynamic. I
- 51:06Speaker 7: don't want to leave because that. I don't care if
- 51:09Speaker 7: mom and dad tell you you have to do this.
- 51:11Speaker 7: Teenagers are pretty headstrong, and you know, if they're telling
- 51:15Speaker 7: him you have to go here and he's like, no,
- 51:17Speaker 7: I don't want to, then that could maybe be part
- 51:20Speaker 7: of solving the problem.
- 51:22Speaker 6: Have some loyalty well to people and teams.
- 51:25Speaker 3: Yes, and I think too. Part of that.
- 51:28Speaker 4: Part of that is conversations that you're having on your
- 51:31Speaker 4: way home from the game. Yes, you know, what are
- 51:35Speaker 4: you saying to your kid when y'all just got blown out? Okay,
- 51:39Speaker 4: I haven't won a game. So you're at South Charleston
- 51:41Speaker 4: and you finished your last game and.
- 51:45Speaker 3: You got shut out, and so now you're owing whatever.
- 51:49Speaker 4: Right, what's the conversation that you're having with your son
- 51:53Speaker 4: or daughter in the car on the way home.
- 51:56Speaker 3: Yeah, they should And what are they allowed to say
- 52:00Speaker 3: to you? Now? If my son says, we we we're
- 52:04Speaker 3: just terrible. We're horrible. I would look at him like
- 52:09Speaker 3: he was crazy first, but then I would say.
- 52:13Speaker 4: Well, first of all, do you understand why you're here,
- 52:19Speaker 4: why it's here?
- 52:21Speaker 3: What do you mean?
- 52:23Speaker 4: Well, guys left, your best players left, they went somewhere else.
- 52:29Speaker 3: They were selfish.
- 52:30Speaker 4: They they left you here, right, they left you here, coach,
- 52:36Speaker 4: And to be honest with your son, you're not really
- 52:39Speaker 4: you shouldn't be in the game right now. You're playing
- 52:43Speaker 4: because Johnny left and your position and you played his position.
- 52:47Speaker 3: That's the only reason you're playing.
- 52:49Speaker 7: And and you're not ready right right.
- 52:52Speaker 3: I mean, if you could have those kinds of conversations.
- 52:55Speaker 4: But part of that is because a lot of a
- 52:58Speaker 4: lot of dad's, a lot of moms who have their
- 53:01Speaker 4: children they don't have they don't they don't have that,
- 53:04Speaker 4: they don't have the ability to have that conversation.
- 53:07Speaker 3: The easiest thing is to side with your son or daughter.
- 53:12Speaker 7: Or you could even go into the blame game and say, well, coach,
- 53:15Speaker 7: so and so didn't didn't do this, and and and
- 53:18Speaker 7: you know your friend, you know he didn't do what
- 53:20Speaker 7: he was supposed to do. And so the blame game
- 53:22Speaker 7: becomes part of it, and that that kid sitting there
- 53:25Speaker 7: hearing all of that, taking it all in.
- 53:27Speaker 4: Because if you, if me and you are sitting in
- 53:29Speaker 4: the front seat talking about the coaches and all this,
- 53:33Speaker 4: and the kids are not saying anything, what are we
- 53:37Speaker 4: what are we sending to?
- 53:38Speaker 3: What kind of message? I mean? That's I just think.
- 53:44Speaker 4: I think what we have, what we're doing, is in
- 53:49Speaker 4: part mostly an adult issue that we are that we
- 53:54Speaker 4: have changed the mindset of our kids. We've changed it
- 53:58Speaker 4: because you can go and play wherever you want to
- 54:01Speaker 4: play where so that you can play on a good team.
- 54:04Speaker 4: Right that That's that's all we want to do, is
- 54:06Speaker 4: we want to play on a good team. Because there's
- 54:08Speaker 4: a whole lot of good teams. And let's be honest,
- 54:12Speaker 4: every and to Hollis's point against me, but everybody, everybody,
- 54:18Speaker 4: Not everybody is going to play D one. Not everybody's
- 54:21Speaker 4: gonna play D two. He's not going to three.
- 54:25Speaker 3: Somebody's got You may just play college.
- 54:28Speaker 6: High school ball, right, but you need to have product.
- 54:31Speaker 4: But you gotta have pride in that. You gotta you
- 54:33Speaker 4: gotta still work, there's still.
- 54:35Speaker 6: You gotta have respect for your coaches.
- 54:37Speaker 7: You have to have respect for your teammates, and you
- 54:39Speaker 7: have to have pride and whatever you do, I don't
- 54:40Speaker 7: care what you do, you should have pride.
- 54:42Speaker 4: That if you don't want to be the best that
- 54:44Speaker 4: you can be, and you're on that team and you
- 54:47Speaker 4: know that you're not going to college to play, yea.
- 54:51Speaker 3: Why are you there? Then you're in the way. You
- 54:54Speaker 3: are the blame.
- 54:56Speaker 4: And as bad as that an argument with that, I
- 54:59Speaker 4: don't don't really know how anybody could can argue with it.
- 55:04Speaker 7: And and and what's happening is this is a small state, yes,
- 55:08Speaker 7: And so what's happening happening is in every class classification
- 55:12Speaker 7: is there's one or two schools that are getting all
- 55:14Speaker 7: of the elite players and then everybody else is out
- 55:18Speaker 7: here just you know, trying to pick up the crumbs that.
- 55:21Speaker 6: Are left behind. And it's it's just it's becoming more
- 55:24Speaker 6: and more apparent when the playoffs roll around.
- 55:27Speaker 7: You know, you see these dominating wins by these schools,
- 55:30Speaker 7: and you're like, how do you fix that.
- 55:33Speaker 6: You can't make it, you can't make it competitive like.
- 55:35Speaker 4: That, and and and and of course we can't get
- 55:39Speaker 4: anybody to come on to have this discussion.
- 55:43Speaker 6: Of what they It's a touchy one. It's it's it's
- 55:47Speaker 6: a touchy one.
- 55:47Speaker 9: And and when you when you when you start, when
- 55:51Speaker 9: you start talking about firing a coach, I mean you
- 55:56Speaker 9: you you kind of have to go and look into
- 55:58Speaker 9: all of the things that.
- 55:59Speaker 6: Took play four.
- 56:02Speaker 4: He's before you can make that decision, right, His record
- 56:07Speaker 4: can't be everything everything if.
- 56:10Speaker 3: You've lost a bunch of players. I mean your.
- 56:12Speaker 4: Evaluation, my evaluation of you as the women's basketball coach.
- 56:17Speaker 4: You lost four of your starters from last year, they
- 56:21Speaker 4: went somewhere else. You're getting ready to play four more starters,
- 56:25Speaker 4: four more young kids in this season.
- 56:29Speaker 3: You go zero to fifteen, right? Well, is that you?
- 56:35Speaker 6: I know? Right?
- 56:36Speaker 5: No?
- 56:37Speaker 6: I agree.
- 56:37Speaker 7: I mean you have to look at the whole body
- 56:39Speaker 7: of work. I don't care how long you've been there.
- 56:41Speaker 7: A lot of it depends on who you have to
- 56:43Speaker 7: play ball. Yeah, period, what kind of talent level did
- 56:47Speaker 7: you lose? Everybody? I mean all those play a factor,
- 56:49Speaker 7: not just you know, your tenure aut of school. I
- 56:53Speaker 7: mean it depends on what's happening as far as the
- 56:57Speaker 7: transfer portal goes.
- 56:58Speaker 6: I mean, that's just the way it is.
- 57:00Speaker 4: And if I would say anything for coach wrestler. I
- 57:04Speaker 4: would say, you know, my hat's off to you because
- 57:10Speaker 4: you didn't even have to try to.
- 57:12Speaker 3: Go back, right, but you did. You took that, you
- 57:16Speaker 3: took the step to go back to see.
- 57:19Speaker 6: If you could do it right.
- 57:21Speaker 4: And and I'm not even I don't I don't know
- 57:24Speaker 4: how I really want to say this, but the reason
- 57:26Speaker 4: why I left to me seems exactly why you decided
- 57:29Speaker 4: that you couldn't do it.
- 57:31Speaker 3: Now. I don't care if anybody wants.
- 57:34Speaker 4: To blame him for the for the old from zero
- 57:38Speaker 4: wins in two seasons have at it right. But and
- 57:43Speaker 4: I and I understand that the coach always head coach
- 57:46Speaker 4: always takes to blink. I get it, you know, I
- 57:49Speaker 4: accepted it on my end. Sure, but there is an
- 57:54Speaker 4: issue at South Charleston High School. There is an issue
- 58:00Speaker 4: in why they don't have players. And that's not and
- 58:05Speaker 4: that's not the coach's fault. That's not the coach's fault,
- 58:09Speaker 4: that's not the assistant coach's fault.
- 58:11Speaker 3: Right, that's not the parents or the with this.
- 58:14Speaker 4: I'll say this for the parents who stayed and their
- 58:18Speaker 4: kids are still there, my hat's off to you.
- 58:22Speaker 3: Sure, my hat's off to you. I can't. I don't understand.
- 58:26Speaker 4: I just somebody would have to sit down and talk
- 58:29Speaker 4: to me because I'm not leaving South Chrrelsta.
- 58:32Speaker 3: I grew up that whole all the way through. I'm
- 58:34Speaker 3: not leaving right and now.
- 58:37Speaker 4: And God forbid if we get in IL because everybody's
- 58:40Speaker 4: gonna go. Everybody's gonna go. It's the worst thing, is
- 58:43Speaker 4: the worst thing that happen in this state.
- 58:46Speaker 6: I just don't know how it would work at that level.
- 58:48Speaker 6: I just it barely.
- 58:50Speaker 7: No, let let's let me let me rephrase this. It
- 58:52Speaker 7: doesn't work at the collegiate level. I almost said barely.
- 58:56Speaker 7: It really doesn't work there. They they they've got to
- 58:59Speaker 7: tweak that at that level before they move it down
- 59:03Speaker 7: to the high school level.
- 59:04Speaker 6: They need to get it right at the college level.
- 59:07Speaker 7: If they even want to think about doing it at
- 59:09Speaker 7: the high school level. They need to do something about
- 59:12Speaker 7: it at the collegiate level to make it more fair.
- 59:14Speaker 4: Let me ask you this question, and I think I've
- 59:17Speaker 4: said this, maybe I might have said it on an.
- 59:19Speaker 3: Overtime, But so.
- 59:24Speaker 4: If someone were to call if this is for your
- 59:26Speaker 4: this is me asking you your opinion. If someone called
- 59:30Speaker 4: me and asked me for some money for n I
- 59:35Speaker 4: l for their for their team.
- 59:38Speaker 3: Sure, what do you think I would say?
- 59:40Speaker 7: No, Yes, you're right, because I know how you feel
- 59:46Speaker 7: about it, and because.
- 59:49Speaker 3: I'm not. I'm not.
- 59:51Speaker 4: I didn't get paid. I didn't get paid. There are
- 59:53Speaker 4: kids that are made in in collegiate football.
- 59:57Speaker 7: And this isn't sour apples, right, You're just mad because
- 1:00:00Speaker 7: you didn't get paid and you won't contribute. This is
- 1:00:02Speaker 7: more like you just don't feel like it's it's morally right.
- 1:00:05Speaker 3: It's not no, really right, right, Okay, it's not morally right.
- 1:00:07Speaker 4: And again, like I said, my first year as a
- 1:00:11Speaker 4: as an NFL player, these guys make way more than.
- 1:00:14Speaker 3: I was making playing ball.
- 1:00:15Speaker 6: I know.
- 1:00:16Speaker 4: So in my mind I'm thinking, well, am I going
- 1:00:22Speaker 4: to pay this kid? Am I going to contribute to
- 1:00:24Speaker 4: this kid's one hundred thousand dollars for what?
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: What? What am I getting back from this?
- 1:00:33Speaker 5: Like?
- 1:00:34Speaker 6: Right?
- 1:00:35Speaker 4: I mean I don't there's no justification other than he's
- 1:00:39Speaker 4: going to stay at that school.
- 1:00:41Speaker 7: Right well for now, for now, I mean they jump ship.
- 1:00:45Speaker 7: I mean I don't care what kind of nil. If
- 1:00:47Speaker 7: they can, if they can find a bigger nil somewhere else,
- 1:00:49Speaker 7: they'll leave.
- 1:00:50Speaker 6: I mean, that's just facts. And they don't have to
- 1:00:52Speaker 6: pay back what you give them.
- 1:00:54Speaker 7: No, they just randomly go to the next school that
- 1:00:57Speaker 7: offers a bigger paycheck and they can take what they
- 1:00:59Speaker 7: got here and then move here.
- 1:01:01Speaker 3: And I can't blame them for two.
- 1:01:03Speaker 6: I don't blame it if the players are not at fault. No,
- 1:01:06Speaker 6: they're doing what's best for them, period. Absolutely that the
- 1:01:10Speaker 6: NC double A is who's the f who's.
- 1:01:13Speaker 3: Because it's professional now because you' getting paid.
- 1:01:16Speaker 7: But I don't even know at the high school level
- 1:01:18Speaker 7: how that would even work, Like I don't They would
- 1:01:21Speaker 7: have to have some type of oversight, Like I don't know,
- 1:01:24Speaker 7: it would just be it would be something that I
- 1:01:28Speaker 7: don't think they need at this point, right right.
- 1:01:30Speaker 4: Well, so we well we'll end it there.
- 1:01:36Speaker 3: So ladies and gentlemen, we appreciate you listening, and we'll
- 1:01:38Speaker 3: be back again next week.
- 1:01:40Speaker 6: We're right. Thanks.
