- 0:00Speaker 1: Mr.
- 0:00Speaker 2: New York, Mark Simone.
- 0:02Speaker 3: Now three hours every weekday from 9 till noon on 710WOR.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Let's take some calls. Let's go to Lou in Chicago. Lou,
- 0:15Speaker 2: how you doing?
- 0:16Speaker 4: Hi, Mark. Great show.
- 0:19Speaker 2: Thanks.
- 0:21Speaker 4: Mark, I was just wondering, you know what's happening in
- 0:24Speaker 4: France right now? I kind of think that Mayor Daley,
- 0:29Speaker 4: the old.
- 0:29Speaker 1: Man, had the right idea.
- 0:30Speaker 4: That, you know, he told him, if you were messing
- 0:34Speaker 4: around in Grant Park, shoot to kill. And I don't
- 0:38Speaker 4: want to sound like a goofball, but what do you
- 0:42Speaker 4: think of it?
- 0:43Speaker 2: Yeah, well, that was the old Mayor Daley. He was
- 0:46Speaker 2: also the most corrupt guy in the world. Dead people voting.
- 0:50Speaker 2: All kinds of shenanigans with that guy. But there's a
- 0:53Speaker 2: nice balance in between... modern day stuff and Mayor Daley stuff.
- 0:57Speaker 2: You're right. They need to send out the military and
- 1:00Speaker 2: they need to put this down. They should have done
- 1:02Speaker 2: it the first night. Good point. Thanks for calling. Let's
- 1:05Speaker 2: go to Andrew in Florida. Andrew, how are you doing?
- 1:10Speaker 3: I'm doing great, Mark. Thanks so much for taking my call.
- 1:13Speaker 3: I remember you from substituting for Rush. You were great.
- 1:16Speaker 3: He was great. And you're great now. I appreciate everything
- 1:20Speaker 3: you do.
- 1:20Speaker 2: Wow.
- 1:21Speaker 5: Well, thanks.
- 1:23Speaker 2: Here comes the button.
- 1:23Speaker 3: Well, I'm calling about something else, but I just wanted
- 1:27Speaker 3: to throw in that Mamdani, if you just reverse the
- 1:32Speaker 3: M and the D in the middle, it's Mad Manny.
- 1:35Speaker 3: Nobody ever says that. I'm the only one that's thought
- 1:37Speaker 3: of it.
- 1:38Speaker 2: It's not that good. That's why no one ever says it.
- 1:41Speaker 3: Okay, well, thank you for that. But hey, you're an
- 1:44Speaker 3: expert on Jack Parr and Johnny Carson and all that,
- 1:47Speaker 3: and I'm really calling you about... My father, his name
- 1:51Speaker 3: was George Jason, and he was on the Jack Parr
- 1:54Speaker 3: show many times. And I'm asking you if you perhaps
- 1:58Speaker 3: remember him. He was a musician, magician, and comedian. And
- 2:07Speaker 3: he was going to be on the Ed Sullivan show,
- 2:09Speaker 3: but he died in 1959.
- 2:10Speaker 4: Oh.
- 2:13Speaker 3: You wouldn't remember him, would you?
- 2:14Speaker 2: No. George Jason. No, but there were a lot of
- 2:16Speaker 2: guys back then who were big on all the talk shows.
- 2:19Speaker 2: that nobody would know today. There's a million comedians. Everybody
- 2:23Speaker 2: saw them in every show. There was Toadie Fields and
- 2:26Speaker 2: Milt Kamen and London Lee and all these guys. In
- 2:29Speaker 2: today's world, nobody would know them. Same thing with singers.
- 2:32Speaker 2: But that was the good old days of The Tonight Show.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Those good old days in New York and the nightclubs. Andrew,
- 2:38Speaker 2: thanks for calling. Let's go to Marge in Manhattan. Marge,
- 2:41Speaker 2: how are you doing?
- 2:42Speaker 5: Hi, I'm here. I just wanted to talk about Medicare
- 2:46Speaker 5: for All.
- 2:47Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:48Speaker 5: Nobody seems to explain that Medicare is not free for seniors.
- 2:53Speaker 5: We start paying for Medicare the minute we work. It
- 2:57Speaker 5: comes out of our taxes. And that's for Medicare A.
- 3:01Speaker 5: If you haven't paid in enough quarters, you're not eligible
- 3:05Speaker 5: for Medicare.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:06Speaker 3: Do you have Medicare?
- 3:08Speaker 2: Do you have Medicare?
- 3:10Speaker 5: Yes.
- 3:10Speaker 2: Does it cover everything? Is it good?
- 3:14Speaker 5: It's a very nice program, but it's not free.
- 3:17Speaker 2: No, I understand that. When you have Medicare, do you
- 3:20Speaker 2: pay anything? Do you pay a monthly fee or anything?
- 3:22Speaker 1: Yes.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Oh, you do?
- 3:24Speaker 5: You pay a month. It depends on the plan. If
- 3:26Speaker 5: you go for traditional Medicare A and B, you have
- 3:30Speaker 5: to buy a secondary that could cost $ 400 a month.
- 3:33Speaker 2: Oh, okay. Well, all right. Well, thanks for calling. Yeah,
- 3:36Speaker 2: the problem is it's like Obamacare. It sounded great on paper.
- 3:39Speaker 2: In reality, it was a disaster for a lot of people.
- 3:42Speaker 2: Not the right coverage. A lot of things not covered.
- 3:44Speaker 2: It was costing them way too much. Remember that if
- 3:46Speaker 2: you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor. Everybody
- 3:49Speaker 2: lost their doctor immediately. The last thing you want is
- 3:52Speaker 2: your health care totally in the hands of government bureaucrats.
- 3:56Speaker 2: No competition allowed. That's the last thing you want. Let's
- 4:00Speaker 2: go to Jamie in Columbia, South Carolina, North Carolina.
- 4:05Speaker 1: Mark, I'm in Columbus, Ohio.
- 4:10Speaker 2: Oh, Columbus, Ohio. All right, I'll talk slower.
- 4:12Speaker 3: I'm sorry.
- 4:13Speaker 1: Oh, I just, great show like usual. I want to
- 4:17Speaker 1: ask you about that Steve Hilton governor race in California.
- 4:22Speaker 1: If he has a chance, are they going to do
- 4:25Speaker 1: the Spencer Pratt thing where.
- 4:26Speaker 3: They take a month to count the votes?
- 4:28Speaker 2: Yes, yes.
- 4:30Speaker 1: And in the long run, it doesn't work out?
- 4:32Speaker 2: Yes, that's a very good question. Yes, they're going to
- 4:35Speaker 2: do that to him. And that's the problem. Let's say
- 4:39Speaker 2: he wins by three points. Not enough. The cheating could
- 4:42Speaker 2: be seven, eight points. Yeah, if he wins, they'll just say,
- 4:48Speaker 2: haven't counted yet. It's going to take a while to count.
- 4:50Speaker 2: Absentee ballots are out there. They'll play those shenanigans. That's
- 4:55Speaker 2: the other thing. Election night is 13 days away. And
- 4:57Speaker 2: you think, wow, that's going to be exciting election night.
- 5:00Speaker 2: A lot of these races, especially California, you may be
- 5:03Speaker 2: waiting two weeks to get the results. And Hilton is
- 5:05Speaker 2: doing well. He should be the governor. But you got
- 5:10Speaker 2: to win by like 15 points to overcome the cheating
- 5:13Speaker 2: in California. Some states, Connecticut, they say you got to
- 5:16Speaker 2: win by five or six points to overcome the cheating.
- 5:19Speaker 2: But California, real bad. Let's go to Oscar in New Jersey. Oscar,
- 5:24Speaker 2: how you doing?
- 5:26Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 5:26Speaker 2: You sound like Joe Biden. What are you trying to say?
- 5:30Speaker 4: Yeah, who do you think is a bigger liar, a
- 5:33Speaker 4: Somali pirate or you?
- 5:36Speaker 2: Uh, I don't know. It's pretty, pretty much a tie.
- 5:38Speaker 2: I would say Somali pirate. When was the last time
- 5:41Speaker 2: you saw a Somali pirate? Let's go to, uh, Bill
- 5:44Speaker 2: in New Jersey. Bill, how you doing?
- 5:47Speaker 4: Uh, listen, Mark, I got a question. What happened to
- 5:51Speaker 4: the Iran? How are you?
- 5:53Speaker 2: What happened to what?
- 5:54Speaker 5: Is it over?
- 5:54Speaker 3: Did we win?
- 5:55Speaker 2: What happened to what? Wait, you're, you're, you're cutting out.
- 5:59Speaker 2: Say it again. What happened to what?
- 6:00Speaker 4: I'm sorry. The Iranian.
- 6:04Speaker 2: Oh, the war in Iran. It's on hold right now.
- 6:08Speaker 2: You know, when they say this war has been dragging
- 6:10Speaker 2: on for eight months, the war is like a total
- 6:13Speaker 2: of eight days. I mean, most of the time they
- 6:15Speaker 2: go to war for a day, then they take a
- 6:17Speaker 2: month off and back to war. This has been the
- 6:20Speaker 2: longest break. How long has this been? Six, eight weeks,
- 6:23Speaker 2: I think. It's pretty much till the midterms. Once the
- 6:26Speaker 2: midterms are over, from what I hear, they're going to
- 6:27Speaker 2: finish Iran off with MOABs. That's the mother of all bombs.
- 6:32Speaker 2: That's the single biggest bomb outside of the nuclear bomb. Apparently,
- 6:37Speaker 2: the Pentagon has been putting together target packages. And apparently,
- 6:43Speaker 2: you heard that phone call. There was a great phone
- 6:45Speaker 2: call between Trump and Bibi Netanyahu. And they both, you
- 6:49Speaker 2: could hear it in the undertone of what they were saying.
- 6:53Speaker 2: By the way, Bibi Netanyahu is up for re-election. And
- 6:55Speaker 2: his election is next week. Next week, the Israeli elections.
- 6:59Speaker 2: The week after, the U.S. elections. And the week after.
- 7:03Speaker 2: They will finish off the Iran war. You could hear
- 7:05Speaker 2: in the conversation that when Trump said, you're the guy
- 7:09Speaker 2: I want by my side. And Netanyahu said, yes, and
- 7:12Speaker 2: we've got a job to finish. They're just waiting for
- 7:14Speaker 2: the election to be over. And then it will resume
- 7:18Speaker 2: on a level never seen before. And that should finish
- 7:21Speaker 2: it off. Hey, coming up next, we hope, we'll be
- 7:24Speaker 2: talking to Steve Moore, the great economist Steve Moore. Talk
- 7:29Speaker 2: about the economy, gas prices, all sorts of stuff. and
- 7:32Speaker 2: how it looks. We'll get to all of that coming
- 7:34Speaker 2: up on 710WOR.
