- 1:51set up as a as we usually had. I was weird like the camera
- 1:54angles always look different. When I first set things up
- 1:56versus when I Get things done and sorted.
- 2:03You just don't never know how it's going to be some times
- 2:06until you actually get out there and do it.
- 2:08Alright, that looks a little bit better.
- 2:12Don't have the glare up here. So I got a little bit of a mess
- 2:15up back over in one of these corners, but we're going to be
- 2:17all right, we are going to be all right.
- 2:22Alright, so I hope you're all doing well again, like I said,
- 2:27today is by the time you're listening to this and watching
- 2:30this. Anyway today is Thursday.
- 2:32The 10th and I am actually On the road right now as you're
- 2:37listening to this and watching this.
- 2:38So for all my folks on the YouTube Premiere, genuinely
- 2:42appreciate you being here but you'll have to excuse me for not
- 2:47interacting with you live in the, the live chat because I am
- 2:51driving down the road heading east, to the Appalachian.
- 2:56Mountains to spend a weekend with my friend and tribal
- 3:02brother, Patrick with our good friend.
- 3:06Papa Olufsen villalba tier Workshop guys.
- 3:09Know I'm you guys love them. All the shamanic work that he
- 3:13does in the crafting Arenas. He's made a lot of the pieces
- 3:17that you see some of which are showing in this video.
- 3:19For instance, the drum was made by by him.
- 3:25But yes, we're on our way like I mentioned before on the road
- 3:28right now, while you're listening and watching to this
- 3:31on the fine, Thursday morning to spend the weekend with him.
- 3:35Um, and to have this really immersive and inclusive shamanic
- 3:39Retreat. Looking forward to this, this
- 3:42has been planned ever since like the beginning, early parts of
- 3:46this year and seeing some of the pictures and stuff that he's
- 3:52been sending sending us for this as we're calling it Fire on the
- 3:57Mountain 2022. It's, I've mentioned it before
- 4:01in some other episodes of the podcast where we are hoping for
- 4:04this. He ate a regular recurring
- 4:08annual event but this is the first one.
- 4:11So some of the pictures that he's been sending us of the
- 4:16groundwork that he's been, you know, preparing for our rival,
- 4:19the campsites and the various things that were going to be
- 4:22doing looks phenomenal. And I'm very excited to be able
- 4:25to capture some some content while we're out here in North
- 4:30Carolina and share with you guys on the channel and on the
- 4:33podcast. Eventually in some Former
- 4:35fashion. But definitely be sure that
- 4:37you're subscribed to the YouTube channel because all my short
- 4:39form content is released through their Prime predominantly.
- 4:43You got. Of course, you've got the
- 4:44Facebook reels, you know, but the YouTube shorts is where I
- 4:49would love to get most of your views and stuff on because
- 4:53that's where I monetize and without actually having to do
- 4:57anything, you can monetarily support this podcast in this
- 5:01channel, by watching more of those kind of short forms of
- 5:05content. Additionally.
- 5:08And in addition to, I was driving and heading over to the
- 5:14roofer whose estate in the mountains of North Carolina on
- 5:18the 11th, which is they, after this is Airy, is yours truly's
- 5:24birthday. 38 trips around the sun on the 11th of November.

- 5:49Always greatly appreciated. If you want to send a little
- 5:52somethin, somethin to me for my birthday.
- 5:54No. Pressure whatsoever, but you've
- 5:56got the co5 link. Buy me a coffee for the price of
- 5:58a cup of coffee. You help support the podcast.

- 6:04it just a little bit extra. You can also donate via Paypal.

- 6:10musings apparel and of course a percentage of the sales of those
- 6:14items, I see a percentage of so you can get yourself, something
- 6:18nice and do something nice for your boy over here.
- 6:19So, check out all of the links that are down in the link tree
- 6:23link. That's, that's posted there.
- 6:25And see if anything, fits your your schedule, your lifestyle,
- 6:29your ability to donate, or help out, especially for for my
- 6:35birthday. So, I will be a bit out of
- 6:38pocket for the next three or four days.
- 6:41So again, be sure to be subscribe to the YouTube channel
- 6:45because every day Until every day this week or, you know, so
- 6:51today, tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday, I'm going to be sharing
- 6:54some short form content that I pulled from the Heathen Room.
- 6:59101 class that I taught a couple months back overshadow.
- 7:03Motor actually last month. So a little bit over a month ago
- 7:06right around a month ago. Now I still have yet to compile
- 7:09all of the footage because unfortunately during the during
- 7:14the lesson my camera cut off. Several times.
- 7:18So I have to reshoot some of the You know, some of the content
- 7:23that gets put to complete the whole video, but that video the
- 7:29Heathen. We went to one class that I
- 7:30taught at Shadow mode is going to be released here on YouTube
- 7:34before the end of season 3 of this podcast.
- 7:38So, again, I want you to ask, make sure that you are not just
- 7:40subscribed to the midgard, musings YouTube channel, but you
- 7:43also need a ding that little belt and select that you are
- 7:46notified for all notifications. So all my short form content,
- 7:50only my Long form content, like the podcast episodes.
- 7:54And anything else that I share like this upcoming, even re 101
- 7:57class that I taught back in a back in October, that video is
- 8:02going to be shared here on the YouTube platform in the YouTube
- 8:05platform only. So if you're subscribed
- 8:10listening to this as a podcast listener, be sure to you know
- 8:14hook yourself up with the subscription on the YouTube
- 8:16channel that cost you absolutely nothing channel members, of
- 8:19course you get some added perks. I'd be notified early about
- 8:24content that comes out and some other things but check that out
- 8:28if you want see what fits you. But again I don't have an exact
- 8:31date yet because I still have to work on filming some lost
- 8:35footage and fill it in the gaps and fill in the gaps of the
- 8:39footage that I have captured and splice it all together and do
- 8:43all the fancy technical Wizardry stuff of putting video content
- 8:48together in a sort of a prose and cohesive format.
- 8:51And that way, you guys have that to refer back to but again it
- 8:55should be out before the end of season three which is really
- 8:59just about a month and a half away.
- 9:00So before the end of this year, you guys should have that and I
- 9:04will announce more specifics when I get them.
- 9:08So in addition to that, there should be some really nice
- 9:13footage that I hope to capture of our stay at the roofer whose
- 9:18place in Pub Olsen's estate. They're in the mountains and
- 9:23share with you guys. It's a little bit of what we're
- 9:25going to be doing. Of course it is a bit of a
- 9:27closed-off thing for myself and Patrick and him.
- 9:30And so there's definitely footage.
- 9:32It's not going to be captured through our stay but there's
- 9:36going to be plenty of stuff. I think that I'll be able to to
- 9:40get and share with you guys, you know, when we get back, if not
- 9:43before. So definitely keep your eyes
- 9:46peeled for all that. Alright, so now that we got some
- 9:51of all that stuff out of the way there, there is something that I
- 9:58would like to share with you guys for today's podcast
- 10:01episode. This topic comes again as a
- 10:03listener and viewer and supporter request.
- 10:08So Debbie here, I'm going to redact the name out of it.
- 10:12So that way, it doesn't share any personal information.
- 10:14Not sure, if these folks that I share information about every
- 10:17want to be contacted But this was a comment that was left on
- 10:21the Facebook post or pull. Yeah, it was a post wasn't
- 10:25really pull but it was a Facebook post that I made a few
- 10:27weeks back asking, folks, what I should podcast about and Debbie
- 10:33is a been watching and supporting this platform for a
- 10:37long time. And she asks to do a podcast
- 10:40episode on how pagans live in a society, surrounded by non
- 10:47pagans. You know, the where they have,
- 10:54you know, predetermined false beliefs about about us, and
- 10:59she's also asking for more drumming, and as someone else
- 11:03suggested. So, thank you.
- 11:05Debbie again for the for the great question and topic for
- 11:10the, for the podcast today. So, yes, I do some, you know,
- 11:13various short form content of drumming.
- 11:15I don't really have a great, like, Studio set up where I can
- 11:20get the best audio recording it. Variance but do the best I can
- 11:23with what I got. So as I'm able to most likely
- 11:27there will be some drumming footage that is captured during
- 11:31the stay in North Carolina. So they should be, hopefully, be
- 11:34some, some really awesome content for you there Debbie and
- 11:37everybody that enjoys, that sort of thing.
- 11:42But to her point, you know, pagans living Now amongst non
- 11:49pagans I believe was the was the right?
- 11:54Yeah. Living in a society surrounded
- 11:56by. Yeah I guess non pagans.
- 12:02And now, they're perceived or predetermined to perceived false
- 12:06beliefs. And I guess you know you talked
- 12:09about some of the challenges that folks like us and and and
- 12:14you know have experienced or face with people like that.
- 12:18Now I live in a part of the country here in the United
- 12:21States that is affectionately refer to as the Bible Belt.
- 12:28So the southern states of the United States.
- 12:32Pretty much anything below. What is referred to as the
- 12:35Mason-Dixon line. Are notorious notoriously.
- 12:42Conservative Christian types. They, I'm not going to get into
- 12:46the various political branches of it, but at least in this part
- 12:51of the South and my part of the South is it is a very
- 12:54conservative Christian population there are churches
- 12:59everywhere some small some really wholesome you know, small
- 13:05community type working. You know, organ that
- 13:08organizations Denominational and non-denominational all the way
- 13:15up to huge. You know, tens of thousands of
- 13:20members, megachurch type type things.
- 13:26Got them all around here. And I also noticed to that.
- 13:32At least in this part again, of Tennessee, this part of the
- 13:34South, this part of Tennessee specifically that I live in is
- 13:38pretty diverse when it comes to just denominations, you know.
- 13:41So you've got Your Southern Baptists, you got your
- 13:44Pentecostals, you got your Church of Christ, you got your
- 13:47Catholics. Everything in between you know
- 13:53nondenominational nondenominational and then you
- 13:55also got non-Christian establishments.
- 13:59We've got you know, Muslim mosques, we've got Jewish
- 14:04temples. We've got actually write down,
- 14:07not too far down the road from where I live.
- 14:10Is a Buddhist temple. There is A.
- 14:17An Indian or Hindu temple. Also in Nashville, really,
- 14:20actually a beautiful Temple, lets, you know, just The the
- 14:29structure the the stone carvings just everything about it is
- 14:32super super, you know, impressive in terms of the
- 14:35aesthetic of it all. So we've got a lot of various
- 14:38religions that you know, can practice publicly without
- 14:44Without fear of persecution or anything.
- 14:47Besides just those are the Christian faith and believe it,
- 14:52or not here in the South. And this portion of the South,
- 14:55there is a rich community of polytheists, not just romantic
- 15:01pagans, but some of the Celtic Drew ittake type pagans.
- 15:07We've got A very large, I think subset or subgroup of, you know,
- 15:15sort of the, The neo-pagan, Eclectic Wiccan types and more
- 15:21and more. I've come to realize from from
- 15:23just going to different public events and meeting people in the
- 15:26area. There's a growing presence of
- 15:30Germanic Norse heathens pagans as well, and then other types,
- 15:36you know, Some of the, some of the online groups that I'm in,
- 15:41which isn't that many. But for instance, like the
- 15:43Middle Tennessee heathens, Facebook group is over five
- 15:48hundred and some odd members. And if I were to probably do a
- 15:54poll to see how many of those members are dramatic pagans or
- 15:59Norse, pagans, right probably be a good chunk of them, but that
- 16:04kind of diversity. Just diversity cultural
- 16:09diversity doesn't exist in all parts of the world for for sure.
- 16:12And definitely not in all parts of our country in the United
- 16:16States. And probably even less.
- 16:19So, in the areas of the country, like I'm talking about the
- 16:23Southern United States, what consistent?
- 16:26What consists of, you know, the Bible Belt area.
- 16:31So when we talk about like pagans living amongst non pagans
- 16:36are living in a society. That of non pagans, I think the
- 16:45it's all relative, right? It's all relative to where you
- 16:48are and some of the challenges and some of the things that you
- 16:51might encounter because of it. Now, I have attended some events
- 16:58not a lot here in this area or a lot in general of a pagan
- 17:02nature, but Nashville has won every year.
- 17:06Called Nashville. It's a pagan Pride day, you
- 17:08know, so it's a open to the public.
- 17:11They have a lot of people that that show up as vendor.
- 17:15So you've got, you know, craftspeople and so forth that,
- 17:20that come and I've heard and seen some examples of You know
- 17:27religious bigotry or just intolerance being displayed from
- 17:33certain extremists real Fringe groups of the in the name of
- 17:37their religion protesting against pagans that gather
- 17:44peacefully and have events. Like we have I think you're
- 17:47going to see that in a matter where you go and that's that's a
- 17:50very real thing. I mean, in some places you
- 17:53probably see it worse than others.
- 17:56Ashley in the South, but There, it's usually just, you know, all
- 18:01bark and no bite. I've not heard of anything
- 18:05recently, at least and that could be just, you know, because
- 18:10of the times and stuff that we're in, everybody's got a
- 18:12phone, everybody's got a recording device and if you
- 18:15know, you do something stupid nowadays, no matter who you are,
- 18:20you're going to have people documenting, it recording it and
- 18:25put in your name, and your image and everything on blast.
- 18:28And you know, you got all this meat.
- 18:29Tension. And sometimes that's what people
- 18:32want, right? They want to be, they want their
- 18:3415 minutes of fame. They want to be known for
- 18:36something whether it's you know, good or not.
- 18:42So they do these things to Garner that attention and you
- 18:45know the reactions that they get it, it's like fodder, you know
- 18:49what I mean? Like a fuels there.
- 18:53Their hatred and it fuels their intolerance.
- 18:56So, you know, I find the best thing to do is, you know, ignore
- 18:59the trolls, the real ones on public and the ones that are
- 19:04online to don't, don't feed the trolls, you know, and then they
- 19:07eventually get bored and they go and they find other things to do
- 19:10that, don't involve you, but it is.
- 19:12It's one of those things that you just, you can't get away
- 19:15from in like personal type things you like.
- 19:18So if you go to events, you're going to see those types.
- 19:21Heck, even go to concerts nowadays.
- 19:23You Any kind of extreme rock and roll music metal music,
- 19:26whatever. I was at a show in Nashville, I
- 19:31think it was Alice in Chains, you know, and corn and there
- 19:35were, you know, people outside, you know, picketing outside of
- 19:38the the arena, you know, just being extra with their, you
- 19:45know, you're going to hell this and that and whatever I'm like.
- 19:48Yeah. But so are my ancestors.
- 19:50They're actually there waiting for me and I have no problem
- 19:53with that and it's not the same hell that you're thinking of
- 19:55kind of thing. But you know, I don't again, I
- 19:58don't feed into the the desire for attention that these people
- 20:03seem to Not be able to function without, you know, but it exists
- 20:11even more so online when people can be anonymous and hide behind
- 20:15a fake persona. Or they can just behave,
- 20:20however, which way they want to behave, with little to no
- 20:23consequences for said, Behavior. You know what's the worst that's
- 20:26going to happen? You know, your accounts going to
- 20:28get banned or you're going to get a shadow banned from the
- 20:32platform for saying a certain word or string of words, right?
- 20:38And then you know, you'll get your access restored and you
- 20:40come back and you can do it again.
- 20:41And some people just again, they Thrive off of that type of
- 20:44stuff, and I'll just make a new account and I'll be back and
- 20:46I'll be, you know, All that silliness and nonsense, but it
- 20:50does it exists. So, you know, it all becomes
- 20:55part of this. Pagans living amongst non pagans
- 20:59or living in a society with with non pagans and some of the
- 21:02challenges that we face I guess. One of the big things, you know,
- 21:05when I hear about stuff like this, I didn't really get like a
- 21:10solid question out of Debbie's. Question is, you know how pagans
- 21:16live in a society surrounded by non pagans?
- 21:20Well, I mean you just live your day today you know but what
- 21:23could be some things that maybe we can learn from each other.
- 21:27That improve our life and also improve the life of those around
- 21:32us that we share existence in space and all that with.
- 21:37So I'll tell you, I mean, how do I live as a pagan in a society
- 21:41with non pagans? I live just fine.
- 21:43I live just Just just peachy, right?
- 21:48None of what the non pagans do, what nothing.
- 21:52That the Christians do, nothing that the Muslims do nothing.
- 21:54That the Hindus do, nothing that the Buddhists do.
- 21:57Nothing that the atheists, do nothing at the agnostics, do
- 22:01right? Doesn't bother me.
- 22:03Doesn't doesn't affect me because they are not woven into
- 22:06my inner circle, my in the yard or in and guard.
- 22:14So they are outside, they are shooting guard, they are without
- 22:19and so those those things have very little to do with anything
- 22:22that I have going on because what I have going on is tending
- 22:26to what is within. And so, I remember at a time
- 22:32being very much concerned with Things.
- 22:36I was hearing on the news, right?
- 22:38Or the latest I don't know. Bit of tea, if you will or the
- 22:48latest gossip, amongst the pig and communities about who said
- 22:54what about whom or who, you know, is a racist and who's a
- 22:59fascist and who's a leftist communist and who's of this and
- 23:03whose it, that, right? I I briefly got tied up into
- 23:06some some pretty heavy-duty allegations and things with some
- 23:11pretty, you know. Well, known and prominent people
- 23:13in pig, in the Pagan community. And yes, there were some
- 23:18definite things that I couldn't sit silent about because and I'm
- 23:22not going to revisit old history or try to, but for the sake of
- 23:26this podcast, you know, there were there was content that I
- 23:30had put out that included a guest and that person was was
- 23:37outed in the Pagan Community as saying some very derogatory
- 23:41hateful and Things and I'm like, I can't be silent about that
- 23:45because I literally have this person on as a guest on my
- 23:50channel. And so, you know, you're almost
- 23:54forced in a position to make a stand about it.
- 23:58You can't remain silent. I mean, I guess you can.
- 24:02But again, remaining silent and not saying anything and just
- 24:04hoping for the whole thing to blow over, whatever.
- 24:06I don't know, to me. That's like there's a fine line
- 24:09between stuff like that. Choosing your battles and and
- 24:12not. Not doing anything and I didn't
- 24:14want to, I didn't want to follow the the, the steps to just not
- 24:18do anything. I didn't want to remain stagnant
- 24:20or or, you know, in different about it.
- 24:23I wanted to make a very clear stand on my, on my views on
- 24:28everything and so I did. But with that being said, like I
- 24:34realize like man, you know, there is there so much toxicity
- 24:38that exists in almost any Online public forum and you know, you
- 24:44take on some of those risks. When you do stuff like this, if
- 24:48you you know, work hard enough and you put yourself out here on
- 24:51a platform that you know, Garners attention that people
- 24:54subscribe, listen view watch, you know, hold you in a position
- 24:58of this guy seems to know what he's talking about and hold you
- 25:02in a certain esteem. You know, you have an obligation
- 25:05to At least other. This is why I say, no, I have a
- 25:09responsibility and obligation to maintain my reputation and, and,
- 25:16and have it to be such. That is one of Honor, you know,
- 25:22and that, if I'm caught in the midst of something that either I
- 25:26didn't know about, or I was misled about that when I find it
- 25:30the truth. And when I find, you know, the
- 25:33actual facts that I'm that I'm speaking to them.
- 25:39And, you know, so that that may be going off a little bit into
- 25:43the weeds with the question. But, you know, living pagans, as
- 25:47you know, living as a pagan amongst non pagans, or living in
- 25:49a society, as a pagan with so many of the non pagans, again,
- 25:53I've learned to just really kind of reel it back.
- 25:55Mind my own business. There are plenty of other
- 25:58creators out here that are pagan heathens that are Advocates and
- 26:03active forces in said movements, Where they have a very prominent
- 26:10and active role in the public eye and they do good work, they
- 26:16do phenomenal work and they're good at what they do and I leave
- 26:19that stuff is stuff to them. And I know they want to broaden
- 26:24their paganism where their Heathen read to a larger
- 26:28audience and expand it in a way that is manageable for them.
- 26:34Then by all means I applaud and support that.
- 26:37That's It's great. I try to kind of keep close tabs
- 26:41on the people who I know are the good ones.
- 26:44That way, I always can refer people that have questions if
- 26:49they're looking for you. No more resources to kind of be
- 26:54a part of their Pagan Journey that I can refer, you know, and
- 26:58I also at the same time, try to keep an eye on the less than
- 27:01than good ones or if you know if somebody on that good side of
- 27:06public facing even real. Or public-facing paganism, says
- 27:09something about another group that can be substantiated and
- 27:12validated. Then I'm going to more inclined
- 27:14to obviously do your own research, makes you make your
- 27:18own claims. Don't know your own things, but
- 27:20when you've got somebody who has such a good reputation in the
- 27:24Pagan Community saying saying things about some something, or
- 27:28someone else, you know, you got to think they've got their
- 27:31reputation on the line to, so, to come out and to say something
- 27:34of a complete falsehood could be damaging.
- 27:37To one's reputation your frame. You know, I've talked about that
- 27:42before, it's definitely a thing when you do things in life, it's
- 27:48It's either building or destroying building upper or
- 27:53tearing down your reputation, your refrain.
- 27:56And at the end of it all when your body dies as our Kinsman
- 28:00and an in cattle died, also the one thing that won't die is our
- 28:04reputation, so it's it is such an important thing that we
- 28:09Preserve it and preserve it with honor.
- 28:12So, one of the ways that I do that is to again, not get caught
- 28:16up in the minutiae of online arguments.
- 28:20You know, what's the latest? He said, she said BS about
- 28:24paganism. You know, who's the fascist now,
- 28:28who's misappropriating? What?
- 28:29Symbols, I mean, it's, it's ongoing.
- 28:32It has been ongoing and I think it'll be ongoing for a while
- 28:36because again, some of the Some of the things that get
- 28:40appropriated for. Nefarious purposes certain
- 28:46symbols words, even, you know, that, that's, that's a long hard
- 28:53road to travel down in the, in the attempts of repairing.
- 29:00The the skewed views that certain groups have have
- 29:04Acquired and accumulated over centuries, right?
- 29:07It's tough to convince people that, you know, the swastika is
- 29:12not a racist symbol. Has been appropriated to mean
- 29:17something that of that nature, but in its origin, and, and
- 29:20originally speaking, historically it is not and had
- 29:23no racism tied to it. It's difficult if not
- 29:28impossible, to change the perception of the population
- 29:31because of what literally happened in the 1940s and in
- 29:36Germany, right? So again, it's, you know, living
- 29:42pay as a pagan amongst non pagans.
- 29:43It's it is a it is definitely a pick, your battles sort of thing
- 29:49and don't don't and don't be surprised if when you pick the
- 29:53wrong battle, not to say that picking a battle to fight is not
- 29:58Noble, and that there isn't a place for that, but don't be
- 30:00surprised if you bite a little bit off, more than you can chew
- 30:03and then find yourself in the middle of something that you
- 30:06have a hard time getting out of And I know that in my Heathen,
- 30:12Orion, in the way that I practice, I'm all about the the
- 30:18what is within, you know, the Inner Circle, the in and the
- 30:21auditor the in and guard in her yard, all the words, I'm saying
- 30:25mean the same thing. It's just how you pronounce
- 30:26them, right? Those are the things that
- 30:29concern me. Those are the things to build
- 30:31and preserve the luck of my own luck.
- 30:35My coming, you write my inherited luck.
- 30:37The luck that I Accumulate through my own Deeds, my own
- 30:40actions. And then the the the the
- 30:42collective luck of our tribe, you know, and, and adding that
- 30:48to the well and growing the tribe in a way that's going to
- 30:52give something to the Future. Whether it's, you know, children
- 30:56or other people that are going to be coming into this, you
- 31:01know, younger people literally aged younger than us that when
- 31:05our bodies go there, still the tribe that we built.
- 31:08Now continues on, and it doesn't die with one person or one
- 31:12family. It it continues on.
- 31:14That's what's important to me. Not, you know, not some of the
- 31:19You know, the I guess for lack of a better term, you know,
- 31:22BuzzFeed level articles of what's going on in the world.
- 31:27That doesn't really concern me. So I stay out of it all to the
- 31:31for the most part and I mind my own business and the business
- 31:34that I mind is again that of myself and my tribe, you know
- 31:38what we're doing to grow and yeah you got to be bump you got
- 31:44to be mindful of bigger picture stuff, right?
- 31:46It's this is the world that we live in regardless of Your Pagan
- 31:49or not. You know, the other thing that I
- 31:52that I tend to not do is and I see a lot of this is are used to
- 31:57see a lot of it. I maybe don't look in the
- 31:59direction to see what I'm about to talk about much anymore, but
- 32:03I'm sure it's still out there is that and pagans tend to
- 32:09especially like this like Norse pagans, Newer Norse pagans newer
- 32:15Germanic Pagan say, they get down this, they get off that
- 32:20they get on this kick you know, where they go down.
- 32:23This road of Despising, Christians and talking bad on
- 32:29Christians, and just, you know, hating the religion itself
- 32:33because of certain key things, you know, and you got to be real
- 32:40careful with that stuff guys. And I get it, I mean, I grew up
- 32:45in Christianity. I was raised in a
- 32:47non-denominational form of Christianity.
- 32:50Some would argue my wife included that it was a cult and
- 32:53I see the reasons why That it said of that Nate you know why
- 32:57that said. But at the end of the day I look
- 33:02back and I go well I I you know I learned some of the things
- 33:05about life, I learned how a community works together with
- 33:11each other, despite the differences, despite the
- 33:13challenges, how a community comes together and looks out for
- 33:16one another. I learned that that essence of
- 33:18tribalism by living in a community that was Built off of
- 33:24you know, quote-unquote Christian values.
- 33:26Okay. so that that was something that I don't necessarily
- 33:32attribute the Christian doctrine to because again, you can do
- 33:36that without having those Without having the dogmatic
- 33:42elements. But there's a, there's something
- 33:48to be said for for that when I look back and as a pagan now I
- 33:53can't. Yeah.
- 33:54I can, I can look back and I can say, well, you know, there's
- 33:57certain things about the doctrine or there were certain
- 33:59things about the way they did things that just you know I
- 34:02don't jive with they don't make literal sense, they don't make
- 34:05any logical sense, right? I can rationalize things pretty
- 34:08well and say that doesn't, that doesn't make sense. it's but to
- 34:11come at it from an angle of like all Christians are bad and you
- 34:14know we should blood eagle, the mall and all this other kind of
- 34:17just like inherently violent things to do against people just
- 34:20because of way that way they believe like guys you realize
- 34:23that's that's the very thing that you that like if you want
- 34:28to like the tables are flip, like that's what the Christian's
- 34:32did to you, they they hated the pagans at the time, for not
- 34:37believing in their Christian God and they would do the the
- 34:42various things about, you know, whether it's killing or
- 34:46pillaging and raping. Or I mean, just doing all
- 34:48terrible things that the pagans, you know, and that's, you know,
- 34:50it goes both ways, you know, people didn't like being invaded
- 34:55or raided and so they would retaliate and, you know,
- 34:58religion aside who which God you believe in whatever.
- 35:02People were really. And are still just really
- 35:06terrible. People are terrible regardless
- 35:09of the religion that they that they follow their there's good
- 35:12pagans and there's good Christians and there's terrible
- 35:14Christians and there's terrible pagans, guys.
- 35:17Hope you're not you know just now realizing that I hope that,
- 35:21you know, that the goodness or the violets illness, volatility
- 35:29of a person is not measured by the god or gods that they choose
- 35:33to. You know, people are the way
- 35:37they are because of what is inside.
- 35:40And yes, you can say that there are factors about the religion
- 35:43of people are driven to do incredible things, both good and
- 35:47bad, incredible things of an incredible nature in the name of
- 35:51their God, or the nor in the name of their religion, people
- 35:53can find strength, inspiration, power motivation, all these
- 35:59things to accomplish great things.
- 36:03In the name of their God or in the name of their religion.
- 36:10And so it's it's really ultimately I say what is what is
- 36:16deep down within you, what drives you what is the purpose
- 36:18behind? What you do you can you can make
- 36:21excuses of why you're doing it because of well it's what the
- 36:24Bible says or oh, because I this is with the way my ancestors
- 36:28lived, you know? And again, you can use that you
- 36:34can use that reasoning and you can use that excuse to, to do
- 36:37good things. Things of a good nature.
- 36:39You can use that to accomplish things of an evil and diabolical
- 36:43nature as well. so, Pagans living in a society with non
- 36:54pagans. I I don't really see it so much
- 36:57as an issue anymore. Again, we live in such a time
- 37:00and then in a society now where you can pretty much do almost
- 37:04anything relatively speaking, where you can do most anything
- 37:08and not get bothered for it. At least here in the United
- 37:11States. I'm not speaking largely in the
- 37:14sense of the bigger picture of the world, right globally.
- 37:20Because, unfortunately, Actually, there are definitely
- 37:21still some places that you go, which are heavily policed, and
- 37:28in, and monitored and, and forced in ways that, you know,
- 37:33take away basic human rights, which is a terrible thing.
- 37:38But here in the United States and even in the South where, you
- 37:41know, again, if you want to do a comparison of pagans versus
- 37:45Christians, I mean, Christians got us outnumbered a lot, but
- 37:52the nice thing about at least down here is that, you know,
- 37:55people just are long as you're not bothering him for the most
- 37:59part. Again, if you long as you're not
- 38:00bothering them, then they're not going to bother you.
- 38:04You know, the biggest problem, I think that we see comes from
- 38:07some of these Fringe groups, write some of these radical
- 38:11extremists one way or the other that get press and and bad
- 38:19presses is press, you know what I mean?
- 38:20So they'll get on TV or they'll get they'll get the news that
- 38:25that covers their stuff, you know what I mean?
- 38:27Like I remember it wasn't all that long ago where you know,
- 38:31the the The AFA or whatever had a has we still do.
- 38:37Again, that's how disconnect that I am with the whole thing.
- 38:39Because that's, you know, it's input Minnesota.
- 38:40But they've got, they had this this church building that they
- 38:43bought. And it's, you know, it's a
- 38:45whites-only establishment, right?
- 38:49So, they don't, if you're a person of color and and then
- 38:54some of these other things, you know, you're not you're not
- 38:55welcome to the coming and be a part of it and that's clearly.
- 39:00Bullshit, right? That's fascist, that's racist,
- 39:03that's horrible. But hey, you know, the great old
- 39:10United States Constitution says that they can do it.
- 39:12And so that made the news and then you had people that counter
- 39:15protested, it like Tack, and some of these other people who
- 39:20had again took a very specific stance against what a fa was
- 39:24doing and without again, going into the specifics of 85 either
- 39:28organization. Again, it's that type of stuff
- 39:32that gets the Press, right? It's that kind of activity.
- 39:34Meanwhile, you've got you know, probably dozens if not hundreds
- 39:38of other smaller groups of pagans just living peacefully
- 39:41doing their own thing. You know, tying weird with one
- 39:44another building and establishing luck you know, and
- 39:48doing great things and their own respective communities.
- 39:51We just don't see it. We just don't hear about it.
- 39:53People don't have YouTube channels to talk about it which
- 39:56is I think great. I mean, keep keep your practice.
- 40:00As private as you can to I guess, preserve the sanctity and
- 40:06the serenity of it all. But if you're out here like
- 40:09someone like me talking about your experiences, that's great
- 40:13too. But it's not for everybody and
- 40:17not everybody is going to do it you know not everybody should be
- 40:21doing it. Not everybody has Enough to
- 40:25really share about it. But there are plenty of channels
- 40:30like mine right there. Plenty of pagans out here that
- 40:32are voicing their concerns, their Penny, plenty of people
- 40:36that have podcasts and have a voice and share their voice with
- 40:40the world and talk about their experiences and share their
- 40:42knowledge. So I mean, pagans living in a
- 40:47society with non pagans. I mean, we're here, we're here
- 40:50guys. I know we're we're we're not
- 40:52you're not going to chase us away.
- 40:54I'm talking about like the Christians.
- 40:56Are you going to run us off this time?
- 40:57We're going to chase us away. If anything, you know the stuff
- 41:01that we hear about in the media that typically tries to put a
- 41:05bad light or misunderstanding on paganism.
- 41:08If anything what that does is it is it Sparks people like myself
- 41:11to educate more and to try to share more knowledge?
- 41:14That way, you know the bad things that you heard about it
- 41:17or the misinformation like well you guys are nothing but a bunch
- 41:20of devil worshippers, right? Or your Godless Pagan.
- 41:22I mean, number one, If the devil is part of your worship, then
- 41:27you're not really Pagan. Your Lucifer, your Satanist, I
- 41:30guess, if you want to, and that's not even 100% accurate.
- 41:33Because which brand of Satanism, are you talking about here?
- 41:37It's, you know, most satanists I've heard, you know, that I
- 41:41know of her don't don't have a literal deity that they worship
- 41:43if anything. The devil as a deity would be
- 41:46Lucifer a fallen angel in that is definitely a deity.
- 41:49That I know people venerating worship.
- 41:53Lucifer is as Fallen angel or that demon and some, you know,
- 41:58occult and, you know, key and type beliefs.
- 42:01He's a part of their practices and I have a friend and he's
- 42:04been on the channel for Richard, you know, who has, who has
- 42:08invoked her Incorporated Lucifer into his ritual, magic, and
- 42:12practices. So, but that's number one,
- 42:15number two, a Godless Pagan. I mean can you get any more
- 42:18oxymoronic? You know, I have more Gods than
- 42:24The monotheism believers. Do you know what I mean?
- 42:27Like a Godless Pagan that makes literally no sense.
- 42:32We have many gods and goddesses, and spirits that we venerate in
- 42:36their own way, in our own ways, right?
- 42:40So again, to, to kind of Educate and to show people that are
- 42:45misunderstood or scared. Even, you know, like I've had
- 42:48that happen before to where I've been in a excuse me, I've been
- 42:51in a ritual Ensemble, you know where I've had my face painted,
- 42:56or had a mask on or I've had a look on my face or I've been
- 43:00done up in some sort of way, that that changes my physical
- 43:04appearance. And this is one of the things
- 43:09that I think really put the nail in the coffin as it were for my
- 43:12Actions with my family. As, you know, I had a picture
- 43:14online of I was taken, you know, kind of stills of a ritual that
- 43:20I was doing after the rich or whatever, but I was taking some
- 43:24some photos for it to share the story about it.
- 43:26And one of the photos is Me with like face paint on, you know,
- 43:32buying ruined or something on my head.
- 43:33And then you know I was in trying to guess capture the
- 43:39state of altered awareness altered Consciousness so I had
- 43:43my eyes rolled up in the back of my head you know?
- 43:44I mean so you don't see my my iris is my pupils or whatever
- 43:48just see the whites of my eyes and that picture my gosh man
- 43:52like that. Pictured got my side of the
- 43:55family in New York like up all up in arms time.
- 43:58How I'ma look possessed. And and that was again, one of
- 44:03the things that has prevented me from talking to my dying father
- 44:09or visiting my family. And all, you know, my niece who
- 44:13was born last year, she's about a year and a half old now that
- 44:20I've never met in person and don't know if I ever will
- 44:23because of stuff like that, you know, because of pictures and
- 44:27it's kind of like have you never Ever been to the movies.
- 44:29Have you never watched a play of you've never seen someone take
- 44:34on the form of a character as it were?
- 44:36And that's kind of where I was coming at it.
- 44:37From was like, Hey, you know, this is this is a portion of me
- 44:40because it's more than just acting.
- 44:41It's not even acting really it's yes.
- 44:44Maybe for the sake of the picture was a Persona or an act
- 44:48to capture the essence of what I was doing.
- 44:50But I mean, that stuff is very real and it exists and is in his
- 44:54wholesome. It's not anything to be afraid
- 44:56of and I understand the reason why because Does it there's a
- 44:59shock value to it but so is Alice Cooper, man.
- 45:01Like so is you know. So worse over the Rolling
- 45:04Stones, those Ozzy Osbourne. So we're some of us, these pop
- 45:07media icons of extreme music that have a nose even aren't
- 45:14that extreme, to be honest with you, but, you know, they've done
- 45:17crazy things and and gotten the media hype, but they're, you
- 45:20know, Everyday People. I'm an everyday person.
- 45:23You know this this thing that you see right here, I don't, you
- 45:27know, go to Kroger dress like This wish I could really what's
- 45:31stopping you? Either?
- 45:32What's stopping us from wearing tunics and walking around in
- 45:35robes. I mean, nothing really nothing
- 45:37illegal about it but again, I don't go out in public like
- 45:40this, you know, I have a podcast.
- 45:42I have a I have a platform, you know?
- 45:44So this is part of the visual The experience, this is what you
- 45:49guys come here to watch, you know, you don't come to watch a
- 45:53guy in regular plain clothes. He come here to listen and watch
- 45:56what you got here. So, again, it's all part of it
- 45:59and it doesn't, it doesn't just define a person because of what
- 46:03you see on the surface, it's very superficial.
- 46:05It's very shallow if you ask me to draw conclusions about
- 46:11someone. Anyone based off of just what
- 46:14you see. You know, their appearance.
- 46:20Whatever. So, I say that when it comes to
- 46:27Pagans living amongst non pagans and how I guess how we can do
- 46:33it. It really is not that hard.
- 46:35If you just focus on what you're trying to do and what you're
- 46:38trying to do, with the people who want to do the same thing or
- 46:41things. As you your community, Your
- 46:44Inner Circle, tribes your inner yards, your Clans your hearts,
- 46:47your hearts, whatever you label, you know, the extensions of your
- 46:53families as or, you know, whatever it is that you got
- 46:56focus on. Right.
- 46:59And and try not to just be inherently ill towards anybody
- 47:03else regardless of what they believe whether they're
- 47:05Christians whether they're not. You know, they're not coming
- 47:09around bothering you. And again everything is a little
- 47:12bit different for everybody. You might have that neighbor who
- 47:15every time you go outside to play, your drum is going to come
- 47:18out there on their porch and scream at you and just Beach,
- 47:21generally intolerable of your presence where you might have,
- 47:25you know, if you live in an apartment and you're listening
- 47:27to music and you may have again Neighbors.
- 47:29Of below you next to you depending on the building
- 47:32structure that you're in, right, that particularly thin walls,
- 47:36whatever that you know, could you maybe got to be respectful
- 47:40of each other's go? You know space that you will
- 47:43cohabitate and things like that. I mean it's it's really doesn't
- 47:48it. None of it really is is
- 47:51inherently. Just Pagan versus non pagans,
- 47:54it's just, you know, being a decent human being.
- 47:56And then when others aren't, you know, you have measures that you
- 47:58can take. Either need to adjust your
- 48:01lifestyle a little bit, or if they're being unreasonable, you
- 48:04can address it in a lawful and decent way, you know, depending
- 48:11on where you are, that could mean a lot of things.
- 48:14And we'll just leave it at that. You know, some places in the
- 48:19South, there you go. People don't have 911 on their
- 48:25dial pad, so they just handle their own business.
- 48:28You know what I mean, and anywhere else for that matter?
- 48:31But again, it's it doesn't, it doesn't to me, it doesn't come
- 48:34back to, you know, Pagan versus non Pagan.
- 48:36It's, you know, people are just people and there's diversity
- 48:39that exists that we all have to consider and be considerate of,
- 48:44okay, I am openly pagan But I don't go around running outside
- 48:49dancing, around a fire screaming at the top of my lungs because
- 48:52I've got neighbors that are eight feet, ten feet away.
- 48:55And the next lat, you know, not going to be disrespectful of
- 49:00their disrespectful of their space just because I'm a
- 49:03practicing Pagan. I'm going to be respectful of of
- 49:06my neighbors. You know what I mean?
- 49:11I actually had this told to me one time when I went, when I
- 49:14was, when I was visiting my family in New York, you know,
- 49:16my, my parents definitely Don't agree with me as a as being
- 49:19Heathen. Clearly.
- 49:22And I remember I went to their house and, you know, I have a
- 49:26shirt. My wife got for me from
- 49:29grimfrost and it says, Heathen right on it.
- 49:34Big hammer on the chest of it says he even across the top.
- 49:41And of course I wear my hammer usually outside of my shirt, you
- 49:44know? And I went there and I hadn't
- 49:46thought anything of it, right? Because they knew they had known
- 49:49that I was Pagan Heathen, whatever.
- 49:51And I you know, just wear the shirt wasn't like I was trying
- 49:53to push it in front of their faces or flaunt it or anything.
- 49:57I just was wearing a shirt, same shirt.
- 50:00I wear day in and day out everywhere.
- 50:01I wasn't any kind of Declaration for me but it was perceived by
- 50:05them as a disrespectful act. Now, is that kind of nuts is
- 50:11that kind of crazy. You could say that.
- 50:15But at the same time, it's their house, their haul, their call,
- 50:18their rules, and if their haul rules are that, you know, we
- 50:24don't want you come in here, looking like that, wearing that
- 50:26type of clothing. Then I, as a guest of their home
- 50:30should respect that and I should, you know, again, if you
- 50:33were to walk into a home of perhaps, you know, someone of
- 50:39Asian culture, And it was their custom to take their shoes off
- 50:43and you walk in the house with their shoot with your shoes on
- 50:46knowing that that's an offense and you do it anyway.
- 50:50I mean that's kind of, that's that makes you pretty crappy
- 50:53person, you know and mean and well you could you could say,
- 50:58well that's not my culture, you know, I walk in my house with my
- 51:01shoes on all the time, that's fine.
- 51:02You can do that when you're in your house or anywhere else
- 51:04besides there. So, the lesson learned for me,
- 51:08was yeah, when or if I ever go back to New York to visit, My
- 51:11family that I will not openly where my hammer they know I'm
- 51:15paying. And I know I'm paying that
- 51:16doesn't have to be something that I need to put on and I
- 51:19don't have a point to prove, okay.
- 51:22Most of you people don't either, you know, so quit trying to be.
- 51:25Like I remember hearing people talking about how they're going
- 51:28to walk into a church again because, you know, they're going
- 51:31to kick me out or I'm not gonna, you know, if I go into a church,
- 51:33I'm going to wear my, my hammer, you know, loud and proud.
- 51:37And it's why, what do you have to prove?
- 51:41Move going into a church for whatever it might be, could be a
- 51:46relative's baptism. Could be something that your
- 51:49family wanted you to do and you just, you know, you do it out of
- 51:51respect for them. Right?
- 51:52I mean, like, come on guys, like you're not gonna you're not a
- 51:56bad Pagan just because you go to church and your, if anything,
- 52:01it's kind of its tainting, your own reputation, it's making you
- 52:06look pretty Petty. if you just, if you go in there, just to try
- 52:10to stir the pot, what do these people do to you?
- 52:14Probably nothing. You know, and I'm just using my
- 52:18own examples, again, I don't know.
- 52:19Everybody else is situation and I'm not trying to, you know,
- 52:25tell you that, you know, your reasons are invalid or anything
- 52:28like that. I'm just saying for the most
- 52:30part, I think that a lot of people that get up in arms and
- 52:33get kind of, you know, agitated with the Christian population,
- 52:39as, as pagans, right people that get agitated with Christian.
- 52:44They did, they're doing it just to be.
- 52:48They're doing it just because like they have no real basis for
- 52:51foundation on. It's like there's a nobody here.
- 52:54That persecuted there's nobody here right now, in today's day
- 52:57and age that, you know, hunted you down and tried to kill you,
- 53:00because you wouldn't confess and get baptized in the name of
- 53:03Jesus Christ. They haven't been doing that for
- 53:07a really long time. And if anything, you probably
- 53:10have some ancestors that were doing the persecute on the
- 53:14pagans, you know what I mean? Like, look, let's face it.
- 53:17We're our ancestors Pagan. Yeah, sure.
- 53:20A lot of them were and they were also a lot of my answers are
- 53:23Christian, the one ancestor of mine who I want to connect with
- 53:27the most, my grandmother. died devoutly Christian, you know, so
- 53:36I'm sorry, but I'm not going to just hate on somebody because
- 53:40that's the religion. They choose to connect with,
- 53:42and, and practice and follow them the most right.
- 53:47Not going to let that be the thing that I judge somebody on
- 53:52going, to let their deeds, speak for themselves.
- 53:54I want to let their actions, determine the worth that this
- 53:58person has or doesn't have. And that's what I would expect.
- 54:02I don't expect my religion to be the thing that One doesn't care
- 54:07for me, for right? Like they should determine my
- 54:12worth and they should put Worth or value on Me based off of my,
- 54:15my actions, my Deeds. That's all I've asked for.
- 54:19It's all. I'm going to continue to pursue
- 54:21is do things, you know? Because they're right because
- 54:25they're good. And if it's my religion, if it's
- 54:27my faith, if it's my, if it's my folk way, if it's whatever label
- 54:31you want to put to it as that inspires me to want to do it,
- 54:34then I guess you could say that. There's probably some truth to
- 54:37it, but at the end of the day, you know, I just want to
- 54:42coexist, I want to exist peacefully.
- 54:44I want to exists wholly. Okay completely, and yes there
- 54:53is a there is a connotation between holy as in h, Oly like
- 55:00Sanctified. Holy and there's a there's a
- 55:02connotation between that and whole as in the completeness My
- 55:07talk about that to one day. I forgot about that.
- 55:12The correlation to connotations between holy meaning blessed and
- 55:17holy meaning complete. I talked about that in the next
- 55:24podcast, episode, you never know.
- 55:27Let's so, yeah, guys. There's there's some talking
- 55:30points, right? Obviously, I don't have all the
- 55:32answers and I'm, and, and just thinking about Debbie's
- 55:34question. I love it because it puts things
- 55:39in my mind that I haven't, maybe thought about, But it's clearly
- 55:43something that's on somebody else's mind and it kind of
- 55:46plants a seed and it Sparks something for me to weigh in on
- 55:51and then you guys get a chance to hear and you get to weigh in
