  Speaker 1: sixteen the Book of Jeremiah, chapter six, and we're gonna

  Speaker 1: hit you with the New King. James. All right, that

  Speaker 1: says the Lord. Stand in the way and see and
• 5:18
  Speaker 1: ask for the old pass where the good way is,
• 5:22
  Speaker 1: and walk in it. Then you will find rest for
• 5:27
  Speaker 1: your souls. But they said we will not walk in it. Wow,
• 5:34
  Speaker 1: all right, let's break it down. Now. God invites a nation, Israel,
• 5:43
  Speaker 1: a nation that had wandered far from him. Now notice
• 5:52
  Speaker 1: the progression. Stand see ask and walk right, walk in
• 6:05
  Speaker 1: the old past one. God is telling him to return
• 6:10
  Speaker 1: to him. God tells them to examine where they are.

  Speaker 1: Have you ever gotten lost? And then you have to

  Speaker 1: trace your steps. You have to backpedal to try to

  Speaker 1: get back to where you went wrong. You took the

  Speaker 1: wrong turn. This is what God is saying. Spiritually, he's saying,

  Speaker 1: seek his way, and then after you seek it, choose

  Speaker 1: to walk in it. God is giving us freedom of choice.

  Speaker 1: And sometimes I hate my freedom of choice because I
• 6:47
  Speaker 1: always want to do things that please the Father. But

  Speaker 1: it's too easy to go astray sometimes. But God is
• 6:54
  Speaker 1: telling him He's given him great counsel. Go look for
• 6:59
  Speaker 1: the old pass and walk in it. Then he gives
• 7:03
  Speaker 1: them a promise. He tells them that they will find
• 7:11
  Speaker 1: rest for their souls. Now, how many of you today
• 7:14
  Speaker 1: can use rest in your soul? The only way we
• 7:19
  Speaker 1: can find that rest is in God, Jesus, our Savior.

  Speaker 1: But yet the people responded with our heartbreaking statements. The

  Speaker 1: people said we will not walk in it. Now, how

  Speaker 1: stubborn can you be? Like? This is mind blowing? But

  Speaker 1: how many times have we said back to God just
• 7:45
  Speaker 1: by our actions, our thoughts, our lifestyle, How many times
• 7:51
  Speaker 1: have we told God that we will not walk in it?
• 7:55
  Speaker 1: We have to be careful. The old past are not

  Speaker 1: merely just traditions that we've received from the elders in
• 8:08
  Speaker 1: our uncertain you know, the church members in church or
• 8:11
  Speaker 1: whatever or religion. No, they represent God's timeless truth, the
• 8:18
  Speaker 1: truth that we find in God's word, the truth that
• 8:22
  Speaker 1: will never change. Right. The old past are the past
• 8:29
  Speaker 1: established by God's word. Now, here's the problem. The problem
• 8:36
  Speaker 1: wasn't that Judah didn't know the way. They knew exactly
• 8:41
  Speaker 1: what they were doing. The problem was that they refuse
• 8:46
  Speaker 1: to follow the way. They just refused it. Now, family,
• 8:53
  Speaker 1: our culture consistently tells us we need something new, We
• 9:00
  Speaker 1: need new philosophies, or a new truth, or even new spiritualality. Right,
• 9:08
  Speaker 1: But God's truth will never change. It is fixed in
• 9:14
  Speaker 1: eternity forever. As a matter of fact, on the day
• 9:17
  Speaker 1: of judgment, we will be judged by the Word. That's
• 9:22
  Speaker 1: why we need to get to know the word and
• 9:25
  Speaker 1: apply it. Now. The old path is still a good path.

  Speaker 1: Jesus is still the way, the Bible is still true,
• 9:38
  Speaker 1: Repentance still works, and prayer still works. All these things
• 9:46
  Speaker 1: are still faithful. God's ways will lead us to rest.
• 9:56
  Speaker 1: God's ways will give us rest for our weird resouls.

  Speaker 1: And we need to take up that. We need to
• 10:07
  Speaker 1: say yes to that iritation. Amen, all right. Verse seventeen. Also,

  Speaker 1: I said, watchman over you, saying listen to the sound

  Speaker 1: of the trumpet, but they said we will not listen. Wow, man,

  Speaker 1: can you believe us? That's like the human heart. Like

  Speaker 1: that shows us who we are. Beloved, not to beat
• 10:38
  Speaker 1: down the nation of Israel. But we could go that
• 10:41
  Speaker 1: way by the grace of God. And we've done it.

  Speaker 1: they would give them warning. The problem wasn't the lack

  Speaker 1: of warning. The problem was the refusal to listen to

  Speaker 1: the warning. Now, wastchmen can be compared to pastors today
• 11:46
  Speaker 1: or even prophets or spiritual leaders who faithfully proclaim God's truth.

  Speaker 1: They proclaim God's word faithfully. God always sends warn arnings

  Speaker 1: before judgment. America, have you listened to the warnings? God

  Speaker 1: still has his watchmen today? You can look at faithful pastors,

  Speaker 1: faithful Bible teachers, godly mentors, and even Christian friends can

  Speaker 1: be considered your watchman. And I pray and my heart

  Speaker 1: is to faithfully use this platform in this organization, to

  Speaker 1: be faithful watchmen for our community, our generation today. Now,

  Speaker 1: sometimes the greatest act of love is warning someone before
• 12:50
  Speaker 1: they make a terrible decision. Right, the question is are

  Speaker 1: we listening when God speaks? Oh Lord, cleanse our ears?

  Speaker 1: Eighteen through nineteen. Therefore, here you nations and know or congregation,

  Speaker 1: earth itself. This is getting deep, y'all the earth itself

  Speaker 1: to witness what is about to happen. Now, let's notice

  Speaker 1: something important to here. God says, the coming judgment is

  Speaker 1: the fruit of their thoughts. We can't miss that. Let's

  Speaker 1: home in on that real quick. The rebellion began in

  Speaker 1: their minds before it even appeared in their actions. That's
• 14:35
  Speaker 1: why the Bible tells us to renew our minds daily.

  Speaker 1: The wrong thinking eventually produces wrong living. Let me say

  Speaker 1: that again. Wrong thinking will eventually produce wrong living. That's

  Speaker 1: why we are in the media space. That's why we
• 14:58
  Speaker 1: produce and we promote good godly music, good godly content

  Speaker 1: to help feed our souls and our spirits right here

  Speaker 1: begins as a thought, every compromise begins with a thought.

  Speaker 1: Every act of obedience also begins with a thought. That's

  Speaker 1: why we must fill our minds with God's word. What

  Speaker 1: we feed grows, and what we starve dies. Let make

  Speaker 1: sure we do not starve our spirit man and feed

  Speaker 1: our flesh. Let us starve our flesh and feed our spirits.

  Speaker 1: were far from God. Let us not make that same mistake.

  Speaker 1: Beloved God rejected their worship because it lacked obedience and

  Speaker 1: it lacked sincerity. That's why we must always examine our
• 18:26
  Speaker 1: own hearts. We need to ask the Holy Spirit, is

  Speaker 1: my lacking obedience and sincerity? Am I taking my relationship
• 18:38
  Speaker 1: with God? Serious? Now? God desires obedience more than religious ritual.

  Speaker 1: Religious activity can never substitute for a surrendered heart. Let

  Speaker 1: me say that again. Religious activity can never substitute a
• 19:04
  Speaker 1: surrendered heart unto the Lord. Now this verse speaks loud today,

  Speaker 1: I hope it drops in our hearts, in our minds,

  Speaker 1: our spirits, pray that we have ears to hear what

  Speaker 1: the spirit is saying. Going to church doesn't impress God

  Speaker 1: if we're living in a rebellion, even though we need

  Speaker 1: to find a church on when we need to be

  Speaker 1: faithful to serve there, if our life is not in obedience,

  Speaker 1: it still doesn't do anything for us. There's a lot

  Speaker 1: of people who went to church on Sunday, but on

  Speaker 1: Saturday there was up in the club dropping it like

  Speaker 1: it was hot. Right. God wants authenticity, he wants really relationship.

  Speaker 1: our personalities every area. Don't just excuse yourself and say, oh, yeah,

  Speaker 1: I lose my temper because that's just me, or you know,

  Speaker 1: I get frustrated because that's just me. No, we need

  Speaker 1: to repent and turn to the Holy Spirit and ask

  Speaker 1: God to send his power and his grace to transform

  Speaker 1: our lives. Hey man, that's how we apply the word.
