- 0:01OK, today I want to look at yet again why the ABC should be
- 0:05defunded. We've got false narratives,
- 0:08activism, and remember, manufactured scandals.
- 0:13I'm Jay Fallon and this is the Slippery Slope podcast.
- 0:17Get my straight So today we're going to be talking about the
- 0:29Australian Broadcasting Corporation, the ABC.
- 0:32This is time, I believe, to seriously consider defunding the
- 0:36taxpayer funded institution. This isn't about politics, this
- 0:41isn't about left versus right. This is about truth.
- 0:45It's about accountability and the role, the role of a national
- 0:50broadcaster that has repeatedly abandoned its responsibility to
- 0:55the Australian public and the latest controversies.
- 0:59You got Gina Rinehart, what they've said about her, the the
- 1:04narratives that they've pushed regarding Gina Rinehart.
- 1:07And then you've also got remember the manufactured
- 1:10gunshot scandal that happened a while ago.
- 1:12These prove once again that the ABC is no longer a neutral
- 1:17broadcaster. It is an activist organisation
- 1:22pushing narratives and not facts.
- 1:25So in the last couple of weeks the ABC has been forced to
- 1:29remove 2 separate pieces involving Gina Rinehart because
- 1:33they contained false claims and yet due diligence wasn't done
- 1:39before before they broadcast these episodes.
- 1:44No, so we had the first one. Was this episode called Race
- 1:47around the World? Reinhart has put the ABC on
- 1:51notice over an episode that misrepresents her and pushed a
- 1:55narrative that it's not just that, it's not, it's just
- 1:58absolutely disgusting and it's the narrative is pushed as
- 2:01though with some kind of comedy and it's just outrageous what
- 2:06they've done, what they've said. Then you've got this wage claim
- 2:11incident. It was the second failure, a
- 2:14Victorian socialist candidate, who I'll put a picture up here,
- 2:18is only 1818 years old. She's a socialist candidate.
- 2:25An 18 year old shouldn't be a candidate.
- 2:27OK, and 18 year olds are. What?
- 2:33Are you just too immature? Way too immature.
- 2:36And only an 18 year old. I shouldn't say only an 18 year
- 2:39old. Plenty of older people think
- 2:41this as well, but you know, an 18 year old who's a socialist,
- 2:46well, there's no surprise there really.
- 2:48But a Victorian socialist candidate, she's 18, went on the
- 2:52ABC radio and claimed without, not just without evidence, but
- 2:57when you read the full, when you read the context of the article
- 3:00that she was talking about and what Gina Rinehart actually
- 3:03said, it's completely false. So she's gone on without this
- 3:07evidence and said that Gina Rinehart wants Australians to
- 3:12work for $2.00 a day. Completely false.
- 3:16Completely false. It's taken completely out of
- 3:21context. The the issue is the ABC host
- 3:25did not challenge it at all. Didn't ask for evidence, didn't
- 3:29correct the socialist, the AB, the 18 year old socialist didn't
- 3:34correct them. So they they aired it.
- 3:37Then they quietly removed it days later.
- 3:40That's not journalism, that is activism.
- 3:44Then remember the gunshot scandal that happened a while
- 3:47ago? I think the the Reinhardt
- 3:52incidents, they really pale in comparison when you think of
- 3:56this disgraceful scandal. The ABC added fake gunshots,
- 4:01fake gunshot sounds to military footage to make an Australian
- 4:05soldier look like he was firing unnecessarily.
- 4:10I don't know why you would do that, why any sensible person
- 4:14would do that. So let it sink in for a second.
- 4:17That's not a mistake, it's not a misunderstanding.
- 4:21This is a deliberate audio manipulation designed to create
- 4:27a false narrative, a false impression of misconduct.
- 4:32And the footage originally contained, I believe it
- 4:35contained no gunshots. The ABC added them in post
- 4:40production. So why you could?
- 4:44The only answer would be was to weave a narrative, to imply
- 4:48wrongdoing, to push a story that fit their ideological agenda.
- 4:54This is fabrication. It's it's deception and it's
- 4:59propaganda. And it was done by a taxpayer
- 5:03funded broadcaster. If a private media company did
- 5:07this, they'd be sued into oblivion.
- 5:10But the ABC, they get another billion dollars every year of
- 5:15taxpayer funding. This is it's not an accident.
- 5:20This is a pattern, these scandals.
- 5:22Reinhardt the the the wage claims, the fake gunshots,
- 5:27they're not isolated. They fits this long running
- 5:30pattern that we've already exposed, we've already talked
- 5:35about on on the slippery slope. The ABC pushes ideological
- 5:40narratives. It selectively reports facts.
- 5:44It's it protects certain political agendas, political
- 5:49groups while attacking others. It refuses accountability,
- 5:54refuses accountability until forced by public pressure, and
- 6:00it manufacturers drama when reality doesn't fit their story.
- 6:05And it uses taxpayer money to promote activism instead of
- 6:10journalism. This is not a public
- 6:13broadcaster. This is a political machine.
- 6:17And why should we Australians pay for it?
- 6:21The ABC is supposed to be impartial.
- 6:24It's supposed to be factual, trustworthy and accountable.
- 6:29It's none of these things. Instead, it's become, it's
- 6:34become partisan, ideological, careless, hostile towards any
- 6:40dissenting voices and willing to manipulate footage to push a
- 6:46narrative, to push the narrative that they that they believe in.
- 6:52And Australians, we are forced to fund it, whether we like it,
- 6:56whether we agree with its contents or whether we don't.
- 7:00So this is the core issue. Why should taxpayers be forced
- 7:05to pay for a broadcaster that spreads misinformation, that
- 7:10spreads lies that manufacturers scandals and acts as a political
- 7:16actor rather than a neutral public service?
- 7:23Remember the Bible says in Isaiah 5914.
- 7:27It says that truth has stumbled in the streets and honesty
- 7:31cannot enter. This is where I think Australia
- 7:33is at the moment. Truth has stumbled in our
- 7:36streets. Truth is hard to find on the
- 7:39streets of Australia, whether it's in the ABC, the corridors
- 7:43of the ABC or the corridors of our parliaments.
- 7:47Truth stumbles within these systems.
- 7:51Honesty cannot enter. When institutions abandoned
- 7:55truth society, the whole society, suffers.
- 7:58When leaders ignore accountability.
- 8:01And remember, we have a Prime Minister at the moment who will
- 8:03not be held accountable for anything he says.
- 8:07Well, then corruption grows. When media becomes propaganda,
- 8:13the public becomes misinformed. So the ABC has stumbled and it
- 8:18keeps stumbling. Once.
- 8:22Once a national broadcaster decides it can push false
- 8:26narratives, silence opposing views, smear individuals without
- 8:33evidence. And I mean, Gina Reinhardt's
- 8:36just fortunate that she is wealthy enough, obviously
- 8:40wealthy enough to to fight back, to push back against it.
- 8:43Unfortunately, you have a lot of Australians who cannot do this.
- 8:47So you've got this national broadcaster that's decided that
- 8:50they can smear individuals, even the filthy rich ones.
- 8:54They can manipulate footage, they can manufacture gunshots to
- 8:58imply wrongdoing. Then the slope becomes steep.
- 9:05Because if truth is optional, propaganda becomes inevitable.
- 9:12And that's why defunding the ABC is not extreme.
- 9:17It's responsible. Australia deserves a media
- 9:21landscape where truth matters more than ideology.
- 9:26No matter what you believe, regardless of whether it fits
- 9:31your personal ideology, your personal belief system,
- 9:36Australia deserves a media landscape where truth matters.
- 9:43As always, this is just my opinion.
- 9:46I'm still Jay Fallon, and thanks for listening to the Slippery
- 9:49Slope podcast. They just feel.
- 9:52The desire
