Transcript
- 0:44None. All right, what's up everybody,
- 0:59It's your boy Kefi. Late night Kefi here with a
- 1:02Friday Night Live stream. We'll see who shows up.
- 1:06Kind of semi planned. Semi not planned here, chick NC
- 1:10is here. What's up?
- 1:10What's up? I am pet sitting so I'm not in
- 1:14the usual studio, but I have kind of my portable set up with
- 1:18me and I thought I would jump on and do a review of some recent
- 1:23concerts I saw. I started getting back into this
- 1:26recently where I started to do some concerts again.
- 1:32Going to a bit of a less clip of shows this year than I have in
- 1:37the past. Just not possible for me to go
- 1:40to all the shows and do all the things and give my best all the
- 1:44time. So I've been going to less
- 1:47shows, but I went to three in the last month and I thought
- 1:52that, you know, now would be a good time to come on and kind of
- 1:57talk about them and share them. So I'm not at home.
- 2:00I'm at my friend's house. Maybe my little orange cat buddy
- 2:03will show up and we'll have some Catter Day.
- 2:05Hi, Jinx. Almost Catter Day here on the
- 2:07West Coast, 11:30 at night in California.
- 2:10Northern California. Mark Anderson's here or
- 2:12Sanderson. Sorry, what's up pal?
- 2:19That I have my beverages, that I have the Bev, don't forget the
- 2:24Bev, Never, never, never. But yeah, I thought I would pop
- 2:30up in here and jump on this live.
- 2:34And the best experience for this is Facebook, YouTube, Twitch,
- 2:41Instagram. But I'm also hanging out on
- 2:43TikTok. I will answer your questions if
- 2:45you're participating, you know, feel free to give us a like and
- 2:49subscribe if this is your first time here.
- 2:51We have been around. Ghost Cult is your one stop shop
- 2:55for rock and metal news, interviews, concert and festival
- 2:59reviews all over the world. This is our 13th year.
- 3:03We turn 13 in a week and a half. I'm really stoked.
- 3:06We're going to roll out some fun things.
- 3:11Texas Metal Militia is here. What up?
- 3:13What up? So yeah, I thought I would hop
- 3:16on quickly, run through the three shows that I saw recently,
- 3:20maybe drop some set list information.
- 3:23These tours are mostly ending this weekend with a few
- 3:27exceptions, so I thought it was a good time.
- 3:30Some of these are getting reviewed on our website,
- 3:32itgoescoldman.com. Some I just went to for fun, but
- 3:37I'm really excited. It's good to get back to shows
- 3:40and enjoying myself here in the Bay Area, but we cover shows
- 3:44basically every week all over the world.
- 3:46We have been covering a bunch of music festivals, Static
- 3:49Afflictions here. Metal Dad is here.
- 3:53Thanks for passing by. Appreciate everybody and anybody
- 3:56who is tuning in and watching at this late hour.
- 4:01I just I I visit, I'm I'm visiting so I'm not home, but I
- 4:05happen to have this Metallica shirt in my bag in my suitcase.
- 4:08So I was like, all right, I guess the Metallica shirt it is
- 4:11for today. Late night Metallica shirt live
- 4:15stream. Of course we have the horrible
- 4:18anniversary, almost 40 years of Cliff Burton dying in that
- 4:23terrible bus accident 39 years ago September 27th.
- 4:27But maybe I'll jump on tomorrow and and do a little talk about
- 4:33Cliff. But in the meantime, while I am
- 4:35here and I have some stuff going on, I thought again, I would
- 4:40talk about these shows I've been seeing.
- 4:41I have seen some great ones. So I made a little, as usual, a
- 4:45little deck to help. Unfortunately, y'all on TikTok
- 4:47tonight appreciate and see this slide deck that I made.
- 4:51But you know, we'll benefit from having some guidance, a script
- 4:56if you will. Just a reminder, we are giving
- 5:00away tickets, 5 pairs of tickets to see the Cult in Los Angeles
- 5:05in a very rare tour. They're kicking off in a in
- 5:07about a week and 1/2 with the Cult and Death Cult.
- 5:10So Death Cult was the post punk, new wave precursor to the Hard
- 5:15Rock, almost heavy metal of the cult.
- 5:19So they're doing basically celebrating 40 years of of both
- 5:23their bands. So Death Cult followed by the
- 5:26Cult together as well as failure has been added to that LA show
- 5:31and patriarchy. So super killer.
- 5:33A whole bunch of great entertainment.
- 5:35If you're in striking distance of the show, LA or the West
- 5:39Coast, feel free to enter. William is here.
- 5:44GBR Huskers has also passed by. So yeah, maybe you can win
- 5:47tickets and go see the cult. Miss Red is here.
- 5:50What's up Miss Red so you can though link to that's in the
- 5:54description also also just a reminder we are not corporate
- 5:58backed so we do appreciate tips. I will drop the tip menu where
- 6:05you can tip us. Hold on one second.
- 6:12Feel free if you're feeling tipsy to drop us a tip.
- 6:16I am not opposed to listening to your song if you want to jump on
- 6:21YouTube and drop me a comment after you give us a super like
- 6:25or a super thanks or a tip. But in the meantime, let me drop
- 6:30a comment here with the tip menu.
- 6:35You know, we appreciate it. Buy us a coffee and coffee cash
- 6:39app PayPal, Venmo and yeah let's see if I can pin this pin the
- 6:45comment word sometimes TikTok you're OK, I don't hate you.
- 6:54So that's our tip menu and if you're watching everywhere but
- 6:57on TikTok, you can jump in the cash app.
- 7:04I had a brain fart there for a second.
- 7:06Also also just a reminder, we go live a few times a week.
- 7:09We have band interviews multiple times a week and we have our
- 7:15interviews on YouTube, especially the full length
- 7:17interviews are on our podcast and YouTube several times a
- 7:20week. So I went live Wednesday night
- 7:23and I did a big discussion about Gore and the First Amendment and
- 7:27Jimmy Kimmel and freedom of speech and satire and Charlie
- 7:30Kirk and, and then I did my weekly live stream last night.
- 7:35You can go check out after you're done watching this, you
- 7:37can go check out all our content, which I appreciate.
- 7:40Would be very cool if you did. It'd be cooler if you did all
- 7:46right and let's see what else what else I again I have my
- 7:50weekly live stream yesterday, so that's fun again I'm in my
- 7:54pajamas here and then this Metallica shirt.
- 7:56Since I'm not at home, I don't have my usual gear here, but I
- 7:59man I managed to make do with this portable setup.
- 8:03I'm pretty proud of me. Ginger is here, HH is here, but
- 8:07a few people are watching on YouTube and Twitch, which is
- 8:12kind of fun. So let's let's get down to
- 8:16business. Why are we here?
- 8:17I'm going to talk on and begin this picture.
- 8:19We're here to talk about the sword or Druna and Baroness.
- 8:22I saw the sword at the end of August.
- 8:24They are just wrapping up their U.S. tour, their second leg of
- 8:28their comeback tour. They are played levitation
- 8:32festival tonight with Mastodon and acid that they were third on
- 8:35the bill. The big levitation festival in
- 8:37Austin. We will be covering them in
- 8:40Saint Louis this weekend. I imagine we will get a review
- 8:43of that up on the site later next week.
- 8:46The sword. You know, we're broken up
- 8:48basically for several years. I had interviewed the band right
- 8:50before the Pandemi Lovato and they've kind of slowed down and
- 8:55I think they were kind of coming to an end anyway.
- 8:57They were going on hiatus no matter what because they were
- 8:59not having a good time as a band.
- 9:02But then they, you know, a couple years went by and then
- 9:06they released a cover and they announced they were going to
- 9:08come back and do some limited shows and festivals, maybe
- 9:11record a new album. They had two big anniversary
- 9:17records come up. So the Warp Writers was the
- 9:19first one that's 15 years old. And Black Raven Mark is here.
- 9:25What's up? And so the Sword went on tour
- 9:28where they played all of Warp writers in its entirety as well
- 9:31as a bunch of their other hits. So what a great opportunity.
- 9:35They basically had the same line up since, you know, about the
- 9:39same time as Warp writers, maybe 2011, 2012, they had the same
- 9:42line up. Only the drummer has really
- 9:44changed in the band. And yeah, they were.
- 9:50It was a very hot night in San Francisco at the Great American
- 9:53Music Hall, where I see many shows, and I also saw Baroness
- 9:56recently. Earlier in the year.
- 9:58I was there to see Cavallera play all of the Schizophrenia
- 10:02album, which was pretty rad, as well as some other earlier hits
- 10:05and classics from Sepultura and Full Metal.
- 10:09Jackie's passing by. What up, What up?
- 10:11Much respect. So the Sword Live, man, they
- 10:14were phenomenal. Didn't really talk much to the
- 10:16crowd, just showed what you can do with muscular Stoner rock
- 10:20riffs and good lighting. They really didn't interact much
- 10:24and say too much. Just you know, hi, how you
- 10:26doing? Good to be here.
- 10:28And they basically opened up the set with some jams, played a few
- 10:324, you know, four or five songs. Did a really cool David Bowie
- 10:36cover. They've been doing live of Space
- 10:38Oddity, but as like a Stoner doom song.
- 10:41And then they played all of Warp writers, like really without a
- 10:44break. The whole stage ended up being
- 10:46colored and covered in kind of red lighting, which is not great
- 10:50if you're photographing them, but phenomenal atmosphere,
- 10:55right? And they just played jam after
- 10:56jam and people were really hyped for.
- 10:58They had lit like special Warp writers, 15th anniversary
- 11:02posters and vinyl that they were selling.
- 11:06Sometimes I think they had some sign vinyl.
- 11:08They had some shirts. I got a sword shirt and I showed
- 11:10off on some other recent podcasts I do and it played all
- 11:15of that. Then they can and took a little
- 11:17bit of a break and then basically came out and did an
- 11:19encore of like 5 or 6 more songs from their other, you know, age
- 11:23winners and their other stuff. Talk to the crowd, thanked
- 11:26everybody for coming back out. It was nice to be back.
- 11:30So I think we're going to see the Sword play into next year
- 11:33doing Warp Riders and then probably another anniversary set
- 11:36of tours. The going has been good for
- 11:39them. It was a sold out show, was hot
- 11:40as fucking balls. Michael says his favorite drink
- 11:47is Dixon cider. That's killer.
- 11:48I'm having a liquid death that's kind of the trademark of us.
- 11:52These are these tall boys are going away.
- 11:54And I'm not a big fan of the stevia they're putting in the in
- 11:57the liquid death now. But I do have cherry obituary
- 12:00here. And then if I run out of
- 12:02refreshment, I have a Trader Joe's Sparkle insider.
- 12:05I love beer. I have a beer podcast, but I'm
- 12:08not drinking a lot of beer these days because there's some
- 12:10medical issues I'm having. But Yemen, the Sword is
- 12:13absolutely fucking killer live. It's kind of like they never
- 12:17broke up. They just hit it right back like
- 12:20they used to be tight and fun and just groovy and a lot of old
- 12:25heads in the house. The sword does seem to have kind
- 12:27of a skew to kind of some older fans, which I think is kind of
- 12:31fun. And Yemen, it was an absolutely
- 12:36great night. They played for like an hour and
- 12:38a half. So let me I'll go through if you
- 12:41guys are interested. The sword set list from that
- 12:44night. They came out with the Delton's
- 12:483030 song state of the Nation. 3030 is is what they came on to
- 12:52the the intro, the walkout, the walkout music like a wrestler or
- 12:55a fighter. Then, like I said, how having
- 13:01this axe, cloak of feathers, empty temples, high country,
- 13:04which was really nice to hear sea of green and then the space
- 13:07oddity Bowie cover, which was dope.
- 13:10Vika Mesquita is here. What's up?
- 13:12What's up? And then if anybody just screen,
- 13:18Hey, Ken, what's up, buddy? Late night edition.
- 13:21I'm here doing some concert reviews.
- 13:23I'm I'm cat sitting at my friend's house, so I'm not home,
- 13:26as you can see, and I thought I would jump on and do a review of
- 13:30the three shows I have seen in about the last month.
- 13:33The sword playing all the warp writers, Wardroona, which was
- 13:37unbelievable, which I'll talk about next.
- 13:39And then Baroness doing all of red and blue.
- 13:42So again, here is the sword set list again.
- 13:46Space Oddity and then all of warp writers basically track 7
- 13:51through 16. Akaron unearthing the orb Tres
- 13:55Brujas, I was in the dark, the chronomancer Lawless Lands
- 14:00astray, His Dream, The Warp Riders, Night City, Chronomancer
- 14:042 and the night the sky cried tears of fire, which was
- 14:08absolutely fucking fierce. Then they came back again for
- 14:11the encore. Far Star, Daughter of Dawn and
- 14:14Freya. Freya is one of the best metal
- 14:16songs of all time. On top of how great some of this
- 14:19other stuff, how heavy this acts.
- 14:20You know, it's like you immediately, as soon as the riff
- 14:23kicks in, you know the band, you know what they're known for is
- 14:26really fucking fresh. I have to say I was really
- 14:29impressed. So that was the sword of I Went
- 14:35with my Homie and a shout out to my homie Jorge from my band
- 14:38Angst. Check us out at Angst Music SF
- 14:40on social media. We are on a little.
- 14:43We took a little bit of a break for the summer and I think Jorge
- 14:48and I are going to get together in the studio soon and start
- 14:50working out some more songs and go through some riff tapes and
- 14:53riff recordings we have basically, and try to piece
- 14:56together some more jams and see how that goes.
- 15:01And so. Yeah, All right, I just went
- 15:03basically as a fan. We're covering the show formally
- 15:06this weekend in Saint Louis. And Nick Cameron, who I do the
- 15:08Glacial Musical podcast with, is going to review it might have
- 15:11some photos. Citizen Basilim is here and O
- 15:16Core Tenemi is also the passing by.
- 15:19Good to see you. Good to see you.
- 15:20Thanks for being here. Sometimes I, you know, sometimes
- 15:24I'm able to give some advance warning and sometimes I just go
- 15:27live when the spirit moves me. Maybe it's not as strategic as
- 15:30it could be, but I don't know. I I have fun doing these so
- 15:34thanks for humoring me and being here.
- 15:36Just a reminder again, feel free to drop us a tip and the tip
- 15:40menu any especially any of y'all on the main channels.
- 15:48Looks like Instagram did not get the post and see if this works.
- 15:53There we go. There is the live stream menu if
- 15:59you feel like dropping us a tip there you go.
- 16:04Hey, it's it's dollar sign ghost cult mega on cash app at ghost
- 16:10cult mega basically all yeah, it's wasted the bandits here.
- 16:13What's up with Tom? So that was the first one.
- 16:17Then I went to like a week and a half later I went to see where
- 16:22Druna. So this photo of a Druna.
- 16:23Unfortunately, again, y'all on TikTok can't get it yet, but and
- 16:28I think at some point I'll do a live stream about the future of
- 16:30TikTok. TikTok, you know, whether it's
- 16:33going away or you're going to have to get a whole new app.
- 16:35They use TikTok in the USA. This bear is watching, but I saw
- 16:39where Druna at the kick off show of their current U.S. tour.
- 16:42They played tonight in New York City, which we had a reviewer
- 16:45and photographer at, my man Dante Torieri of Useless Rebel
- 16:48Imaging, and he's going to do a formal review and photo shoot.
- 16:53This photo, if you're watching this, is from Red Rocks.
- 16:56We got to go cover Wodruna and Chelsea Wolf on their first leg
- 16:59of their tour for the Burna World Tour.
- 17:02New album out in January that came out already at Red Rocks.
- 17:07I wish I could have gone. I was, I certainly could.
- 17:09Was invited to go. I just couldn't make the trip.
- 17:11It's been complicated here for me health wise as well as other
- 17:14things. So.
- 17:16But yeah, Wodruna man was pretty unbelievable.
- 17:19Chelsea Wolf opened I went to the Paramount Theatre in Oakland
- 17:23for the very first time. This great old school theatre
- 17:26that's been completely restored. Incredible sound, you know,
- 17:30pretty comfortable, beautiful, beautiful place.
- 17:33Merch options were aplenty. Chelsea Wolfs they they start.
- 17:37I know I'm getting old to a certain point.
- 17:39My birthday was recently. I think Ken knows that because
- 17:42he's an everyday error. I know I'm getting old.
- 17:44When I'm super excited that a show starts on time, the bands
- 17:48get on and get off when they're supposed to and the show gets
- 17:50out at like 1010 thirty. I was never so happy.
- 17:53I know I'm officially fucking old.
- 17:55So Chelsea will hit the stage right at 7:30 and you know she
- 18:00was magnificent. She mote.
- 18:01It was just her and Ben chills and who's her Co writer and
- 18:04producer of all her stuff and she mostly did her acoustic
- 18:09stuff where she played guitar and with a little minimal
- 18:12backing of piano and sound effects.
- 18:15She did do one industrial metal song.
- 18:17I think her solo acoustic stuff just kind of goes better with
- 18:21Wardruna set probably. So I understand that totally is
- 18:25a choice. It's a very good choice to make.
- 18:28And then I think he got off right on time.
- 18:33And 30 minutes later, Wardruna took the stage and the lighting
- 18:36came up. And, you know, they put on a
- 18:38marvelous show. It's really incredible the
- 18:41amount of sounds the band can make with just seven people.
- 18:45Corporate bruises here. Stacy Lee, yes, is here.
- 18:49Thanks for being here. Feel free to give us some love.
- 18:51Show us some likes, getting hearts and tips and whatever you
- 18:55want to do, send us some gifts, whatever you do over there on
- 18:58TikTok. So yeah, Wardruna was pretty
- 19:00incredible. Just absolutely, you know,
- 19:02moving this Norse Pagan music, for whatever reason, it,
- 19:06metalheads love this stuff, this true school stuff.
- 19:11And you know, I can't say enough good things.
- 19:15Audra Holcomb is here and Lisa is here.
- 19:18I can't say enough good things about Wardroon Alive.
- 19:21We're very honored to partner with them to promote the tour.
- 19:25It was really great. I got to go.
- 19:27We sent somebody out today. We've covered them in Europe,
- 19:30I've gotten the SeaWorld Juno all over the world.
- 19:33It's been pretty amazing. Again, if you've ever seen the
- 19:37TV series Vikings, which a lot of people seem to love, or you
- 19:43are familiar with Assassin's Creed Valhalla, I and ourselves
- 19:47ago were Juno contributed to both of those soundtracks.
- 19:50I actually, I think Vikings has just recently seen a three
- 19:54volume release of of their soundtrack stuff.
- 19:58I really would love to get it on vinyl.
- 20:00So just really quick, I'm going to blast through this 16 song
- 20:03set for Wadruna starting with Crit Raven, which is White
- 20:07Raven, their previous album Harton Scuga Soul Regen M
- 20:12Tethers Rhydo which is a huge popular song on streaming.
- 20:17Liechtenberg, which is also a big song of Voluska.
- 20:22It's called the Version, which INR has done solo as well as
- 20:25with the whole band. Let's see Tear super popular
- 20:30song Isa GRA Verna, which is the title track of the.
- 20:42And again, I'm just super stoked when the show ends on time and I
- 20:46can get the fuck out of there and go home early because I'm
- 20:50getting old and I don't want to be out late anymore.
- 20:52But it was great. Show ended on time, everybody
- 20:55was first class, the venue was wonderful.
- 20:57I just ran down the block, got on the Bart train back home to
- 21:00San Francisco from Oakland and I was home by like 1115.
- 21:04It was amazing. Great, great job.
- 21:06I imagine Wardron is going to be tall touring again all of next
- 21:10year. They might even come back to the
- 21:11States at some point. They did do 2 extensive US tours
- 21:14here, so if you missed them, hold out hope that they will
- 21:18come back. But if you're in Europe, I
- 21:20imagine that they will hit all of the European cities next
- 21:24year, which will be fantastic. Pinky is here.
- 21:31Critters is here. Thanks for being here.
- 21:33I appreciate you. And that brings us finally to
- 21:35Baroness. So Baroness is, you know,
- 21:38unashamedly, just as much as I love Katrina and the Sword.
- 21:40Baroness is one of my favorite bands ever, the top 20 bands
- 21:44ever. And they have been on tour.
- 21:47That tour is winding down this weekend, and Baroness is playing
- 21:50all of red and blue. So I saw a Baroness last week on
- 21:54my birthday. Happy birthday to me and I got
- 21:57to go jam out and watch them do all of red and blue again at
- 22:02Great American Music Hall where I saw the sword a month earlier,
- 22:07about 3 weeks earlier. Marsh McManus is here, Jay Clark
- 22:12is here, Lolly is here. What's up, What's up, What's up?
- 22:17So yeah, Baroness was incredible.
- 22:20We need OR opened that came out to The Golden Girls theme song.
- 22:24Thank you for being a friend. And then of course they just hit
- 22:27like the first note. Oh, beat rocker.
- 22:29Long time no see. What up?
- 22:30What up? Good to see.
- 22:32I'm just doing some late night catch ups on some concerts I've
- 22:35seen recently and I'm on to the last one now, Baroness.
- 22:39But I hope you've been well though.
- 22:40Beat rocker. So Baroness man, weed eater came
- 22:43out and just pummeled. It was actually almost like
- 22:46abusively loud, even with my earplugs in, it was so loud.
- 22:51You know, it's really kind of hard to just enjoy it.
- 22:55But like, the people were moshing and really receptive.
- 22:58Weed Eater hasn't really put out a new record in like 10 years.
- 23:00And I don't know if they're going to do another one because
- 23:02like, you know, maybe they should and maybe they shouldn't.
- 23:04I know that that one record continues to sell.
- 23:07That one record they did for season and this 10 years ago,
- 23:10it'd be cool if they did a new record.
- 23:12But like, you know, maybe this is all there is for them to just
- 23:15keep going out and doing what they do well and just that's it.
- 23:18And no, you know, what's the point of maybe putting out a new
- 23:21record? Starshine is here.
- 23:22What's up, What's up? You know, maybe it's too much
- 23:25work to do, you know, maybe it's too much work to do a new record
- 23:31at this point in their career. I don't know.
- 23:34But so Weed Eater was amazing. And then Baroness, it was a lot
- 23:38better sound. You know, they changed over to
- 23:41Baroness's set and they played all of red and blue
- 23:46back-to-back. And they unlike the sword and
- 23:49and kind of Woodrow also, you know, greeted the crowd.
- 23:52And it's a little more energetic show because everybody is
- 23:54wearing traditional costumes and playing these ancient
- 23:57instruments. And Lindy Fahela sings and
- 23:59dances around. But Baroness is like one of the
- 24:02best and most professional bands ever.
- 24:03They've had this line up basically for 10 years, little
- 24:06more than 10 years since Gina Gleeson came in the band.
- 24:10And they were just unbelievably great.
- 24:12They played Olive red, talked for a little bit, welcomed
- 24:15everybody. They did not acknowledge.
- 24:18I think they did it in another show and they certainly did it
- 24:20on social media where they mentioned the recent passing of
- 24:23one of their their founding drummer, Alan Blickel, who died.
- 24:29I met him and saw them a bunch of times with him back in the
- 24:31early days of red and blue. But you know, they were already
- 24:36kind of processing their stuff and moving forward.
- 24:38So no, no disc there. But it's enough to play this
- 24:42music like, well, every night and perform and just absolutely
- 24:45everybody's singing along. Baroness also had always has
- 24:48great merch. As you know the the lead, the
- 24:51front man of Baroness, John Dyer Baisley paints all the album
- 24:54covers, shirts, everything. So there was original artwork on
- 24:58sale. There was a special red and blue
- 25:00tour poster. They were red and blue tour
- 25:01shirts. There was some autographed vinyl
- 25:04for pricey amounts. I have all the Baroness records
- 25:06on vinyl, so I don't I don't need new ones or I don't really
- 25:10buy multiple versions of the same thing I have already.
- 25:13I just find that like, I don't do it.
- 25:16Just not a thing for me to rebuy the same thing over and over
- 25:18again except for sleep for some reason, because it's been so
- 25:21many remixes and different versions, I've bought new ones
- 25:26over and over. So yeah, man.
- 25:28Baroness, they took a little break.
- 25:29They thanked the crowd for coming out.
- 25:31They went back to finish red. They took a little bit of break.
- 25:34All the lights were red and then they they kind of transmuted all
- 25:39the lights to blue and they started playing all of blue and
- 25:42you could tell people were even much more hyped even for blue
- 25:45than red, which is fine because blue was like the Decibel album
- 25:49of the year. It was one of the Ghost Call
- 25:51albums of the year. You know, I've given like very
- 25:56few 10 grades in my whole career as a reviewer and Baroness has
- 26:00two of them. So I mean, I am a little biased
- 26:02as I'm giving you this review, but it was a pretty incredible
- 26:04show. Great guitar work, great harmony
- 26:07singing, you know, played everything was pretty
- 26:10incredible. Bassist Nick Jose played a
- 26:13little bit of keyboards, Sebastian Thompson, their
- 26:15drummers. Just a beast mode, dude.
- 26:19So let's just quickly do the Baroness set list also for you,
- 26:23just in case you're interested and excited, obviously starting
- 26:26with Red Raison Pinion, the birthing Isaac.
- 26:29So these are huge songs in the Baroness catalog.
- 26:32Wailing wintry wind, cockroach and floor, wanderlust, Elf,
- 26:37Heath of a cogwheel, Oh, Appalachia and Grad.
- 26:42And you know, one of the things about Red is the they have
- 26:45repeating theme music that comes in and out a few times.
- 26:48So it's pretty fucking phenomenal and very heavy.
- 26:51And at the end of Grad, they held that last note of Grad for
- 26:55like a very long poignant period of time.
- 26:59They took a brief break. Wasn't really like an encore,
- 27:01but they came out and they started with Bullhead Psalm and
- 27:04played all of Blues. So this Bullhead Psalm, the
- 27:07sweetest cursed Jake leg steel that sleeps the eye swollen and
- 27:11Halo OG Chi hymnal, A horse called Golgotha, which is their
- 27:17big, big rock and jam over Helen hide war wisdom and rhyme, which
- 27:21also rules Great fucking riff Black Powder orchard, the
- 27:25gnashing and Bullheads lament to close.
- 27:28So I wonder, you know, Baroness is, I imagine going to work on
- 27:32new music at some point. And I wonder if this revisiting
- 27:35of these classic albums will influence the new music.
- 27:39But you know, they're always a band that doesn't repeat
- 27:41themselves. So they're they make Baroness
- 27:43music, but they don't doesn't seem like they make the same
- 27:46stuff over and over again, which is super cool.
- 27:49So yeah, unbelievable show. And I thought again, it was a
- 27:54great way to celebrate my birthday.
- 27:55I did get a a I start there. My dear friend from San
- 28:00Francisco, Lori was there. You always see pictures of me
- 28:03with her dog, Django. Lori is one of my best friends
- 28:06at Concert Buddies. We go to a lot of stuff.
- 28:09And yeah, an incredible night. Just a really good time for me,
- 28:14these shows. I really haven't been going to a
- 28:16lot of concerts as much as I used to, but these three were
- 28:19pretty enjoyable. So look out for a review of
- 28:25Wardruna in New York City. Look out for my review of
- 28:28Baroness in San Francisco on Monday on the site with photos
- 28:32from my friend Anita Frausto and and ghost Co correspondent
- 28:37Anita. She does a lot of stuff, a lot
- 28:39of death metal and grindcore and stuff, but also comes out and
- 28:42shoots, shows that I review Skinwalkers here and went up,
- 28:45went up. Tara Solomon is here.
- 28:48Good to see you. Good to see you.

- 29:13Cliff Burton at the top of the show.
- 29:14I did do a Cliff Burton live stream earlier in the year.
- 29:16I'd rather celebrate that he lives much more.
- 29:20You know, I'm sad that he passed, but it's great that he
- 29:22lived and was an early leader of Metallica along with the rest of
- 29:26the band. So we'll see if I have time
- 29:28tomorrow. I'm usually trying to take
- 29:29Saturday off. But yeah, thanks for tuning in.
