- 0:00Hello there, I'm Tyler. Griffin and This is Scripture
- 0:03study. Insights by Scripture Central
- 0:06today, first in Nephi chapters. 11 through 15 before we dive.
- 0:11In to these scriptures. Today.
- 0:14I want you to consider something the the.
- 0:17Scriptures are. Written in such a way that they
- 0:20become so richly drenched with doctrines, with teachings, with
- 0:27principles, that sometimes we can overlook the fact.
- 0:31That there are other incredible truths that are.
- 0:34Contained within the Scriptures, one of them being.
- 0:38This. Handbook for how to learn and
- 0:43how to teach and how to lead and how to be a parent in in so
- 0:49many. Beautiful ways.
- 0:51The scriptures are a. Handbook of Instruction for
- 0:55instruction. So if you ask the right.
- 1:01Questions and then go. Into your scripture study.
- 1:05Seeking direction and answers to those questions.
- 1:09You're far more. Likely to.
- 1:11Have your scripture time be fulfilling and meaningful.
- 1:15Let me show you an example. Of what you?
- 1:18Can do when you approach teaching or learning in the
- 1:24scripture setting. And then we're going to model a
- 1:27couple of examples of this using the scripture.
- 1:29Block Today there are three layers of.
- 1:35Questions that you can ask, and these don't need to be
- 1:38formulaic, it doesn't need to be lock.
- 1:41Step you always. Have to do it the same way or it
- 1:43won't work. This is not a law.
- 1:46These are principles and effective practices that you can
- 1:50mix and match at different times in different settings and find
- 1:54great benefit. The first layer.
- 1:58Is to ask search level questions, questions that would
- 2:04be things. That you could.
- 2:06Find the answer sitting on the scripture page in front of you.
- 2:10You could ask students or your family as you're sitting down
- 2:14to. Study the scriptures together.
- 2:15I want you to look for so often search level questions can begin
- 2:24with a simple look for. Look for what word?
- 2:28Nephi uses to describe XY and Z. Or look for what words get
- 2:33repeated. The most.
- 2:34Or look for a word that. Seems a little.
- 2:37Bit out of place. To you in these verses, whatever
- 2:40it may be. Otherwise.
- 2:43What happens is people can sometimes get lost in the text.
- 2:47Now I want to I want to jump into Chapter 11, first Nephi,
- 2:53Chapter 11, verse one, and I want you to listen very.
- 2:56Carefully to this verse. See what you can learn here for
- 3:00it came to pass. After I had desired.
- 3:02To know the things that my father had seen, and believing
- 3:05that the Lord was able to make a known, make them known unto me.
- 3:09As I sat pondering in mine heart, I was caught away in the
- 3:12spirit of the Lord, yeah, into an exceedingly high mountain
- 3:16which I never had before seen, and upon which I never had
- 3:18before set my foot. Now I want to.
- 3:21Pause there and just. Ask a really simple question.
- 3:26Consider for a moment. How well you stayed focused on
- 3:30that verse while I was reading it, or as you were.
- 3:31Following along, how much did you engage?
- 3:36To what degree did you engage? With that verse as I read it.
- 3:40My hunch is that many of you, if not most of you, heard me start.
- 3:46Reading for it came to pass after I desired.
- 3:48To know the things. And then somewhere in line two
- 3:51or three or maybe 4, many people's brains probably zoned
- 3:57out, went to other things, didn't think about what I was
- 4:00reading. Why?
- 4:03It's because it's human nature. If you don't have something to
- 4:07anchor your attention, if you don't have a purpose or a
- 4:11meaning, you're far more. Likely to let your.
- 4:14Brain go into autopilot and it will go all kinds of other
- 4:18places that you hadn't anticipated.
- 4:21So watch what happens. If you ask a search question.
- 4:28Before reading. By the way, have you ever been
- 4:32in a in a gospel learning setting?
- 4:34Either at. Home or at church?
- 4:36Gospel Doctrine, Sunday School, Elders School and Relief Society
- 4:40Lesson Where Somebody. Is asked by the teacher to read.
- 4:44A long block of scripture maybe? Maybe a long?
- 4:46Verse or two or three verses or. Even a paragraph from a talk
- 4:50from general conference or something like that, and the
- 4:55person reading goes. Through the exercise of reading
- 4:58all those. Words on the page they finish
- 5:01and then the. Teacher will often say.
- 5:03Now what did you learn from that?
- 5:06Or what did you what did you like?
- 5:09Most about that and the reality is, is most people's minds,
- 5:15human nature, have been prone to wander.
- 5:19While that. Reading was going on and so the
- 5:22question now comes at the end and they don't know the answer.
- 5:25So they quickly. Look down and try to find
- 5:27something that they can comment on.
- 5:29Brothers and sisters. The simplest thing you can do if
- 5:32you're teaching or if you're leading, if you're a parent in a
- 5:35in a gospel discussion with children.
- 5:39And you're reading scriptures? Instead of waiting for the end
- 5:44of the reading to ask your question, try putting that same
- 5:48question on the front end. Before they read ask a search
- 5:52level. Question and then you're far
- 5:56more. Likely to have the.
- 5:57Time spent reading Be more. Productive because they'll
- 6:01probably. Dig in.
- 6:03So in this context, let's try it again.
- 6:05I want you to take a moment as we go through.
- 6:08Chapter 11 verse. One again for the second time,
- 6:13but this time I want you to listen.
- 6:16For or look for. What did Nephi do?
- 6:21What are the verbs he he's? Going to model for us effective
- 6:26learning. So what did he?
- 6:28Do. What were his actions for?
- 6:31It came to pass. After I had desired.
- 6:35To know the things that my father had seen and believing,
- 6:38but the Lord was able to make them known unto me.
- 6:41As I sat pondering in mine heart.
- 6:45I was caught away in the spirit of the Lord, yet into an
- 6:48exceedingly high mountain which I had never before seen, and
- 6:53upon which I had never. Before set my foot.
- 6:56Now. I.
- 6:57Could be wrong. Maybe that didn't help you,
- 7:00maybe it didn't improve your attention span or your focus on
- 7:04the verse. But my hunch is that for many of
- 7:06you, you at least had an anchor point.
- 7:09You had something to focus on initially, and maybe you were
- 7:13able to notice that wow, Nephi desired to know what his dad had
- 7:18seen. He believed.
- 7:20That God was able to make those known, and he sat pondering in
- 7:24his. Heart.
- 7:25Those things and then. Because of that, he was.
- 7:29Carried away in the Spirit. I love that principle for
- 7:33Scripture. Study today is to realize that
- 7:37if we. Set aside time from the things
- 7:39of the world to sit and ponder. The words of prophets.
- 7:43It opens the. Door for the Holy Ghost to.
- 7:47Teach us things. For the Holy Ghost to take us
- 7:49places. We've never been before into
- 7:52mountain peaks of Revelation that are relevant and urgent and
- 7:57timely. For for situations.
- 7:59That we may be. Facing today rather.
- 8:02Than going through the. Struggles that we need.
- 8:04Help with and thinking, oh, I need to read my.
- 8:06Scriptures read the scriptures, check there I've got.
- 8:08That out of the way now let me get.
- 8:09Back to real life. But rather.
- 8:11Bring your real life. Into your scripture study.
- 8:14With you, with those asking questions, searching for answers
- 8:20to what you're wrestling with. So you're going to see some.
- 8:24Look for questions and some. Look for statements.
- 8:30There are going to. Be 8 looks.
- 8:33In Chapter 11 all alone. Where the the Spirit.
- 8:36Of the Lord. And later on the Angel is going
- 8:38to say to Nephi, look after having introed, introduced a
- 8:44question or something for Nephi to focus on, and then shows him
- 8:47something, look and now he dives in.
- 8:50You're also going to see that there's another level of
- 8:53questions that you can ask at the analysis level.
- 8:59It's not just finding written words on the.
- 9:03Page or looking for? Things in a movie or a vision
- 9:08context like this, but it's to then analyze.
- 9:12What? You saw what?
- 9:13You were able to identify and make sense of it some.
- 9:17Beautiful ways that we could. Work with analysis level
- 9:22questions would be to start them with statements such as.
- 9:27SO why do you? Think it is that.
- 9:30Or in your opinion, why? Is it that the Lord?
- 9:35Did X in situation. Y here or help help help.
- 9:41Us make sense of this. Why do you think that that word
- 9:45is the one that got? Used or why is?
- 9:47That the repeat concept here. Or why do you?
- 9:49Think it's put in this order. Analysis questions are beautiful
- 9:54when you don't have yes or no answers, when you don't have
- 9:57only one right answer and you've got to guess what the teacher's
- 10:00thinking, but when it's open-ended to be able.
- 10:03To say Hmm. Let's, let's.
- 10:05Think this through. Let's analyze this carefully.
- 10:09What happens is then students will keep going back into those
- 10:13verses and they keep digging up, tilling up.
- 10:16The soil of those scriptures. Until they can find more
- 10:21meaning. It's it's beautiful.
- 10:23And then it can lead to another level of questions that you can
- 10:28ask which are application questions, questions such as SO,
- 10:36So what? Therefore.
- 10:38What we We found some things on the.
- 10:41Page we've thought about. Them we've analyzed the
- 10:43doctrine, the principles, how? Do they apply to us this story?
- 10:48Happened in this case 2600 years ago and what difference should
- 10:53it make to people? Living today.
- 10:57And and what principles that we've analysed?
- 11:00Actually apply. Which ones are applicable to us
- 11:03and what might they look like in our life?
- 11:06Today, as we strive. To move forward in faith again,
- 11:10you don't have to do this in lockstep.
- 11:13Order you. Can rely on all.
- 11:15Three of these. Types of questions as.
- 11:18You're teaching as you're. Parenting as you're leading.
- 11:24And perhaps even most. Applicably.
- 11:27As you're studying the. Scriptures for yourself.
- 11:30That you don't wait. For other people to do this.
- 11:32To you. But with the help of the Lord,
- 11:36you keep you slow. Down in your.
- 11:39Scripture study. And you spend more time looking
- 11:43for relevant questions that you bring into into the.
- 11:48Text. With you from your life and you
- 11:51search out words on the page and then you analyze those doctrines
- 11:56and then you. Try with the help of the Holy
- 11:58Ghost to apply those. So let's watch this play out now
- 12:03on varying levels, bouncing back and forth between these three
- 12:07types of of questions and discussion going on between
- 12:10Nephi and the Spirit. So in rapid succession.
- 12:14Watch what happens. Verse.
- 12:15Two And the Spirit said unto me. Behold, what desirest thou?
- 12:21There's your first question. Nephi, what do you want?
- 12:23And he tells him, well, I want to see the things that my father
- 12:25saw and. So the spirit asks.
- 12:28Him a follow up question. It's more the application level.
- 12:31And the Spirit said unto me, Believest thou that thy?
- 12:34Father saw the tree of which? He hath spoken and.
- 12:36Nephi, do you really believe is this?
- 12:39Is this a? Faith thing.
- 12:41For you or you, is this just a curiosity?
- 12:44You want to see this for. For a different reason.
- 12:48And Nephi's response is Yeah, thou knowest.
- 12:50That I believe. All the words of my father and
- 12:53then the. Spirit of the Lord.
- 12:54Cried in a loud voice, saying Hosanna.
- 12:57And then he says. Because thou believest.
- 12:59In the Son of the Most High God, thou shalt behold the thing
- 13:02which. Thou hast desired.
- 13:04And so now we're going to have a vision opened and before he
- 13:09opens the vision he gives him. A look for he gives him.
- 13:14Something to pay attention to. Something to anchor his
- 13:16attention so that he won't get distracted in things that the
- 13:20vision isn't trying to answer. He's not going to be asking
- 13:24questions that that aren't. At the core of the purpose of.
- 13:28Showing this vision so verse seven, he says, Behold, this
- 13:32thing shall be given unto thee first sign that after thou hast.
- 13:35Beheld the tree which bore the fruit.
- 13:37Which thy father tasted. Thou shalt also behold.
- 13:41A man descending out of heaven. So you're going to see a.
- 13:45Tree Nephi. And then you're going to see
- 13:47something that you didn't ask to see.
- 13:49You're going to see a man who's descending out of heaven.
- 13:54And then he finishes by saying, and to him shall you witness,
- 13:57and after you have witnessed him.
- 13:59Ye shall bear record that it is. The Son.
- 14:03Of God I love this because you have.
- 14:09Let me clear this. You have this.
- 14:12Beautiful intro to to Vision #1. If I was going to get 8 visions
- 14:18in Chapter 11 alone, 8 looks scene changes, but he's told
- 14:23you're going to see the tree that.
- 14:24Your father saw the tree of life, but after you've seen the
- 14:28tree of. Life.
- 14:29You're going to see a man descending out of heaven, and
- 14:34then he says you're going to bear witness that it is the Son
- 14:37of God. It's fascinating that the.
- 14:43Spirit of the Lord. Would enter it this way, almost
- 14:46as if to say Nephi you're going to analyze.
- 14:51Why am I showing? You a tree.
- 14:53That you asked to see, and then a man descending that you didn't
- 14:56ask to see, and then you're going to bear witness that it is
- 14:58the Son of God. It's almost as if he's saying
- 15:01the man you saw descending. Is the.
- 15:04Person who is represented by this symbolic.
- 15:08Tree that you're originally. Going to see that's just one
- 15:10way. To look at this verse.
- 15:12There are many others. The scriptures are deep in in
- 15:16symbolism and broad in application.
- 15:19They can take it, but that's one way you.
- 15:21Could look at it. So then comes the invitation,
- 15:24verse 8 And it came to pass that the Spirit said unto me, Look,
- 15:28so if you're mark, if you like to mark your scriptures.
- 15:32You could highlight the word look.
- 15:34Right there and put in the margin #1 because.
- 15:36This is the first of eight that. You're going to get in Chapter
- 15:4011. Look, so did you catch this that
- 15:45when Nephi looks to the vision? He already has.
- 15:49Something to anchor his his thoughts.
- 15:52I'm looking for the tree and then I'm looking for the man and
- 15:54I'm looking for symbolic connections.
- 15:57So he looked and beheld the tree, and it was like under the
- 16:00tree which my father had seen. And the beauty?
- 16:02Thereof. Was far beyond ye exceeding all
- 16:06beauty, and the whiteness thereof did exceed the whiteness
- 16:09of the driven snow so. The thing that he's.
- 16:13Focusing on is, it was extremely beautiful and it was extremely
- 16:21white. So he picks up on that, and it
- 16:25came to pass that after I had seen the tree, I said of the
- 16:27spirit I. Behold that thou has.
- 16:29Shown unto me the. Tree which is precious above
- 16:31all. And then the.
- 16:33The Spirit. Asks him this follow up.
- 16:34Question. What desirest thou?
- 16:37Do you notice that the first question the Spirit asked him
- 16:40was? What desirest thou back in
- 16:42verse? Two.
- 16:44Now he repeats it word for word and if I in verse.
- 16:47Two, you ask to see the tree. I just showed you the tree.
- 16:51What desirest thou? I love this use of agency, that
- 16:57this the Spirit of the Lord as the ideal tutor here, the real
- 17:02teacher. In any gospel set, in any
- 17:05setting, I would say is honoring and respecting that age, agency,
- 17:10Nephi, what what do you desire now?
- 17:12And he says I want to know the interpretation thereof.
- 17:16So before I just asked to see the.
- 17:18Tree Now I've seen. I want to know what it means.
- 17:21Help me understand it. So he's already in analysis
- 17:24mode. He's trying to figure out deeper
- 17:27meaning and and how. Does this all fit together?
- 17:31And verse 12 says it came to pass that he said unto me.
- 17:36Look. Here's the second vision.
- 17:39I looked, and then the spirit leaves, but instead he sees the
- 17:43city. The great city of.
- 17:45Jerusalem and also other cities. And I beheld the city of
- 17:47Nazareth, and in that city of Nazareth.
- 17:50I beheld a virgin. And she was exceedingly fair and
- 17:57white. Did you see that there are two?
- 18:00Descriptions given to the tree that is a symbolic
- 18:03representation of Jesus Christ and it's the exact same 2
- 18:08adjectives. That are.
- 18:10Used by Nephi to describe the mother of Jesus Christ, Mary.
- 18:16She is exceedingly fair and white.
- 18:21I love the the. Imagery as you now analyze.
- 18:25For yourself, what are the? The symbolic connections between
- 18:32a tree of life and. Jesus Christ, how is the tree of
- 18:37life a beautiful? Metaphor for the Savior, this,
- 18:41this fruit bearing this shade, providing this firm foundation
- 18:47rooted in in eternity kind of imagery.
- 18:51Of the tree of life. You can see some of those
- 18:53symbols and you can add to this and with the.
- 18:56Help of the Holy Ghost as you sit.
- 18:58And ponder in your. Heart.
- 19:01What all of? This might mean.
- 19:02For you. And your setting with your
- 19:04family or with your calling or with your.
- 19:06Career or with your? Relationships.
- 19:08It's. Beautiful.
- 19:09What the holy? Ghost can then teach you that no
- 19:12human being could could present to you, and that's.
- 19:16Probably where your life? Is more likely to change is when
- 19:19the Holy Ghost becomes your personal guide, as he is guiding
- 19:23Nephi here much more so than when somebody is talking to you
- 19:27and sharing insights now. We've done this for the Savior
- 19:31now. You could look at.
- 19:33A different symbolic level. Or a different layer?
- 19:36Obviously with the the Savior, Jesus Christ being.
- 19:40The the core. Representation of all good
- 19:43symbols in the in the Scriptures and in the Gospel.
- 19:46At the core. The the foundation, the root
- 19:49symbol is always going to be. Jesus Christ, but the.
- 19:52Scriptures in these symbols are deep enough.
- 19:55That there are other, Other. Applications and I love.
- 19:59It when people. Recognize that I don't have to.
- 20:03Throw out one scriptural. Symbol interpretation in order.
- 20:08To study or discover. Additional ones we don't need to
- 20:14make it an. Either or.
- 20:16This can be a both and discussion the.
- 20:18Tree of life is a. Representation of Jesus.
- 20:21Christ, that's very clear through this story.
- 20:24And and through other places in the scriptures.
- 20:27But it's. Also a beautiful symbolic
- 20:29representation of his mother who gave him life.
- 20:34The fruit that she bore for all of us to partake.
- 20:39Of symbolically is the son of God, and I love the fact that
- 20:45Nephi connects those two same adjectives, fair and white, this
- 20:51beautiful and white being this virgin.
- 20:56That you? Can stop and say I wonder.
- 21:00What? Jesus Christ.
- 21:02Learned as he grew and as he prepared for His ministry.
- 21:06I wonder what he learned from his beloved mother.
- 21:11Now we don't worship Mary, but we respect and we have reverence
- 21:17for Mary and for the mission that she.
- 21:20Fulfilled without her. Fulfilling her mission.
- 21:23We don't have the Savior born the way He is, and so it's
- 21:27beautiful to to then. Look for these.
- 21:30Kinds of levels that you can then analyze and ask more
- 21:35questions at deeper levels and then find greater application
- 21:39for your own life at additional symbolic levels.
- 21:43So you can see that you can search, you can analyze, you can
- 21:47apply, you can ask all these questions on different levels,
- 21:49going back and. Forth as you dive.
- 21:52In and spend more time interacting with the scriptures.
- 21:57So in the rest of Chapter 11, spend some time looking for the.
- 22:01Questions that are asked because.
- 22:03There are multiple questions here and for the scene changes
- 22:06the look, the look, the look and what it is that is trying to be
- 22:10taught. Then you come to.
- 22:12Chapter 12. This is the Nephite.
- 22:18And Lamanite scenes that are given to.
- 22:22Nephite There are two. Of them, two scene changes.
- 22:28So you get 2. Looks and only one question
- 22:30asked and the one question helps set the stage for the second
- 22:33look and you can find that. If you look for.
- 22:36It and then analyze what that question really means and what
- 22:41principles are taught and how those principles.
- 22:42Could apply to us today. And then you come to chapter 14
- 22:47and sorry, chapter 13 is. The New World, the.
- 22:56Americas, you have one scene, it's one look in the entire
- 23:04chapter with two questions. So see if you can find those two
- 23:07questions and analyze what those questions might mean and why
- 23:11they're. Put where they're put and how
- 23:12they set us up for. Better understanding the
- 23:15significance of God, having people come over to the New
- 23:20World, the Americas, North and South America, and then you get
- 23:24into. Chapter 14 and This is the
- 23:31Latter Day Churches Scenes. So you're going to see in
- 23:38chapter 14 Nephi's prophetic vision with the Angel as his
- 23:44guide, showing him things happening in the latter days.
- 23:47And there are two scene changes here. 2 looks.
- 23:52Now with with the Vision ending, Nephi comes down off of the
- 24:00mountain of Revelation into camp, and in chapter 15 he sees
- 24:07Lehman and Lemuel, his brothers. And they're disputing one with
- 24:11another. They're they're contending.
- 24:14So verse two says, It came to pass that I behold my brethren,
- 24:16and they were disputing one with another concerning the things
- 24:19which my father had spoken unto them.
- 24:21Word to the wise, if you want to learn, if you want to grow in
- 24:26knowledge, grow in truth. Spend less time arguing or
- 24:32disputing with other. People about what the prophets
- 24:36have said or about what the scriptures.
- 24:38Have said don't contend and spend perhaps more time asking.
- 24:44God to guide your efforts as you.
- 24:46Spend more time digging in and immersing yourself in the
- 24:51scriptures and the. Words of the prophets.
- 24:53Seeking for the spirit. Of the Lord to teach you what?
- 24:57Lessons he wants you to learn. Look at verse eight, I said unto
- 25:02them. Have ye inquired.
- 25:04Of the Lord. He's basically asked them what
- 25:08have you done, what do you really desire to know and have
- 25:11you asked? God for help.
- 25:12And their answer We have not for the Lord maketh no such thing
- 25:16known unto us. And behold, I said unto them,
- 25:19How is it that you do not keep the commandments of the Lord?
- 25:22How is it that you will perish because of the?
- 25:24Hardness of your hearts. And he goes on to ask more
- 25:26questions. You could find the question
- 25:29Marks and then ponder each question that Nephi asks.
- 25:33And instead of pointing a finger of accusation or a finger of
- 25:36scorn at Lehmann and Lemuel 2600 years ago, you could maybe point
- 25:41that finger at yourself and say what are some areas of my life
- 25:46that I haven't? Appropriately turned to the.
- 25:49Lord, what are some things that I have?
- 25:53Have tried to? Do on my own because maybe I
- 25:57lacked faith that that God doesn't make such things known
- 26:02unto me. Maybe I need to increase my
- 26:04trust in Him. And maybe I need to go back to
- 26:07the drawing board of faith and go and ask him some of these
- 26:12questions that that maybe I'm guilty.
- 26:16Maybe my heart has been too hardened.
- 26:18And so now you're asking application questions of
- 26:22yourself and perhaps of your family and perhaps of of
- 26:26somebody in your leadership jurisdiction and it opens up
- 26:32avenues and means for reflection and your heart to be open for
- 26:37the. Holy Ghost to to help you feel.
- 26:39And your mind to be turned to heavenward, to think new things
- 26:43and to get new revelation so. As you go through the.
- 26:47Rest of chapter 15, pay attention.
- 26:52Look for the teaching techniques that Nephi employs and what
- 26:58Layman and Lemuel do. And don't just make fun of
- 27:01Layman and Lemuel for where they mess up.
- 27:03Celebrate with them when they do well and find application.
- 27:08For what we could. Do to not fall into some of the
- 27:10same. Traps.
- 27:12That they maybe have. Struggled with.
- 27:14In their own progress along the covenant path, and you'll also
- 27:20notice. As you go through, you can look.
- 27:22For Nephi's interpretations of some of those elements of the
- 27:27dream of. Lehigh like the tree.
- 27:29The rod of iron. The river of water.
- 27:32And he. Gives you a description.
- 27:35Of what those things mean. So then you can analyze more
- 27:39fully what those symbolically might be represented by in.
- 27:43Your life today. And then find better.
- 27:45Ways to partake of the fruit of the tree of life to hold to that
- 27:50rod. Of iron to avoid.
- 27:52That river of water. And that awful gulf.
- 27:54That awful hell that that separates us so.
- 28:00In closing these scriptures. Are loaded with.
- 28:04Answers. But they're also loaded with
- 28:07incredible questions and they will ask us questions.
- 28:12And if we can, then. Without fully ghost.
- 28:16Find answers. That's wonderful.
- 28:18And if we can ask the Lord questions and bring those
- 28:21questions in the scriptures, we're far more likely to find
- 28:24answers. And we're far less likely to
- 28:26have that. Experience Where we?
- 28:27Read an entire page of Scripture.
- 28:30And turn the page and think to ourselves, I couldn't tell you
- 28:34one word that I just read, because I didn't.
- 28:38I don't remember any of it because my brain was somewhere
- 28:41else. And when that happens, the
- 28:43invitation is turn the page back.
- 28:46Bring what your brain focused on instead, bring that to the
- 28:50front, ask some relevant questions of yourself, and then
- 28:54go back into those scriptures again looking for answers to
- 28:58those questions or those concerns that were so strong
- 29:01that they pulled your mind away in closing.
- 29:04I. Love these scriptures not
- 29:07because of the words on the page.
- 29:10But because of God. And Jesus Christ revealing.
- 29:15Themselves through words. On the page.
- 29:19With the help of the Holy Ghost helping.
- 29:20Me to see them more. Clearly as I dive.
- 29:23Deeper and deeper and deeper. These scriptures never get old.
- 29:29I I've never found the bottom and I've never found the the
- 29:33breath. They're a gift.
- 29:35That just keep on giving and it's my prayer that we'll keep
- 29:38striving. To dive.
- 29:39Deeper than ever before and go broader than ever before in our
- 29:43study. Of the scriptures this year.
- 29:45And I leave that with you in the name.
- 29:47Of Jesus Christ. Amen.
- 29:50Know that you're loved. In this week's Gospel Explorer,
- 29:55there is a lot going on. On the left side, we explore the
- 29:58intricacies of Lehigh's dream. This will enhance your knowledge
- 30:02of the meaning and symbolism of the vision.
- 30:04You will also find deeper connections of Lehigh's dream to
- 30:07your lives. The next pathway will take you
- 30:10into a study of the power of profits in our lives.
- 30:13They are the Watchmen on the Tower and they can see what we
- 30:15cannot. The third Path discusses the two
- 30:18churches in the latter days, the Church of the Lamb and the
- 30:21Church of the Devil. Lastly, you can take the 4th
- 30:24pathway and dive into a study of seeking truth in your lives.
- 30:28We hope that this encourages you to dig deeper in your personal
- 30:31study of the scriptures and draw closer to the Savior.
