- 0:23Speaker 1: do you just put your arms do the same. That's no.
- 0:28Speaker 1: I've seen you know what. I just seen what you'll do?
- 0:30Speaker 3: No, bro, I just seen Ryan Coogler put that in
- 0:33Speaker 3: his Centers movie and it was niggas in White Te's
- 0:36Speaker 3: and they was doing this ship and.
- 0:37Speaker 1: I'm bro, but why y'all do that?
- 0:38Speaker 2: Every guess maybe I've seen people I see snoop dude
- 0:41Speaker 2: that that.
- 0:41Speaker 1: Yeah, but what you was doing earlier? No, like no, no,
- 0:44Speaker 1: you was like this that What the fuck is?
- 0:47Speaker 2: That's what them boys be doing when they do that?
- 0:48Speaker 2: That that walk?
- 0:49Speaker 1: No, the only person that walked like that is r J.
- 0:51Speaker 1: Mister l a OK. But he be doing his ship though,
- 0:54Speaker 1: like he he be steady.
- 0:57Speaker 2: That's one of the most fascinating things on the West Coast.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Me what that.
- 1:01Speaker 3: Won't Well when people say West Coast, I don't want
- 1:05Speaker 3: to say exclusive to l A you know what I'm saying,
- 1:06Speaker 3: West Coasts includes San Diego to Babe, so you have
- 1:09Speaker 3: to say la or whatever part. It's like somebody generalizing Georgia.
- 1:16Speaker 3: It's like, nah, like Atlanta niggas as far as I know, Atlanta,
- 1:19Speaker 3: like Decater niggas ain't the same thing.
- 1:20Speaker 4: As Yeah, yeah, same ship. So I want to ask
- 1:25Speaker 4: you a question. What is some hats to not wear?
- 1:28Speaker 2: You going straight in?
- 1:28Speaker 1: Like?
- 1:29Speaker 2: Yeah, I want to because right now it's a picture
- 1:31Speaker 2: going viral. This guy had on his shirt and it's
- 1:34Speaker 2: it has pictures of hats you should not wear in
- 1:37Speaker 2: l A. One of them is a Florida Marlind's hat.
- 1:40Speaker 4: Damn, you definitely can't wear astro hat.
- 1:43Speaker 1: What well, the thing is hat? I mean you can
- 1:48Speaker 1: what you can. What hats are okay to wear?
- 1:51Speaker 2: You can lack la.
- 1:52Speaker 1: Hat, like you said, you can wear anything you want
- 1:54Speaker 1: to wear. It's just you know, it's not a good
- 1:59Speaker 1: idea depends on where you are and who you run
- 2:02Speaker 1: it to, you know what I mean.
- 2:03Speaker 3: Like, we have certain community leaders that understand that you're
- 2:06Speaker 3: from out of town and you from Atlanta, or you know,
- 2:08Speaker 3: you might be from Florida and you might have on
- 2:10Speaker 3: a Florida Marlin's hat or Atlanta, Georgia's had Atlanta braves hat.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Atlanta Braves had it, okay.
- 2:15Speaker 1: And you might be somewhere where you run into a
- 2:17Speaker 1: community leader and that community leader will be accepting of
- 2:20Speaker 1: your geography about a falcon's hat on the other side,
- 2:25Speaker 1: Oh my god, you can't where a falcon's hat on
- 2:28Speaker 1: the other side.
- 2:28Speaker 3: If you run into some Wayians that don't get forgot
- 2:31Speaker 3: none of that, then you know, you may or may
- 2:34Speaker 3: not have to remove the hat. They might confiscate the hat,
- 2:37Speaker 3: or you may not have to you know, deal with
- 2:39Speaker 3: certain politics of not knowing.
- 2:41Speaker 1: So there's this thing that the misconception about.
- 2:46Speaker 3: LA specifically LA is like, oh, it's game banging. It
- 2:50Speaker 3: is that, but it's not about colors and stuff like that.
- 2:53Speaker 3: Just like how y'all could tell what somebody owned based
- 2:55Speaker 3: on their temperament, they demeanor, the way they walk, you
- 2:58Speaker 3: know what I mean. You can kind of feel the
- 2:59Speaker 3: energy is real. I don't know if you kids know that,
- 3:01Speaker 3: but energy is real. But so when somebody is presenting
- 3:06Speaker 3: a certain energy with the hat therein lie is a
- 3:10Speaker 3: thing that that becomes a thing, then they kind of know. Yeah,
- 3:13Speaker 3: but you always get in a black LA hat, so
- 3:16Speaker 3: a blacks feel like the black white Sox hat, which
- 3:18Speaker 3: I never understood. That's something too though. I would just
- 3:22Speaker 3: like me, I'm good whatever, I'm good with everybody. I
- 3:25Speaker 3: still wear black LA hatch. I have a purple and
- 3:27Speaker 3: gold Kobe Jersey black LA hat. I'll have a blue
- 3:32Speaker 3: Lakers throwback black LA hat. I just wear black LA
- 3:35Speaker 3: hats just conditioning, so just growing up, I always wear
- 3:39Speaker 3: black LA hats.
- 3:39Speaker 1: This one is a Dodger's hat.
- 3:41Speaker 4: But you know, is that okay to where a black
- 3:45Speaker 4: Dodgers hat.
- 3:46Speaker 1: Well, this one says Dodgers on it, you know what
- 3:49Speaker 1: I mean?
- 3:49Speaker 3: So this is but this is also like some limited
- 3:51Speaker 3: edition ship like it got the dog, it's the Dodgers adverse.
- 3:54Speaker 3: It's like this is like a limited edition hat. You
- 3:56Speaker 3: know what I'm saying, Like this this is some shit,
- 3:58Speaker 3: but like you know, you could, I would For those
- 4:03Speaker 3: who don't know, I would stick to black l A
- 4:04Speaker 3: hats and don't do brown, don't do red, don't do burgundy.
- 4:09Speaker 4: Just black LA, and don't wear solid colors. Like I
- 4:12Speaker 4: couldn't wear this, you can, well, I mean I.
- 4:15Speaker 1: Could wear it.
- 4:16Speaker 2: All depends on the energy of with your.
- 4:18Speaker 1: With what presenting while you're wearing that? What is that?
- 4:21Speaker 1: Is that orange? This? This is fashionype of fashion.
- 4:29Speaker 2: Hey, it's Ferrari Simmons. Is you know b tape the
- 4:32Speaker 2: Baller Show.
- 4:33Speaker 1: I'm just letting you know.
- 4:33Speaker 2: I'm I'm dripped in dipp and fashion over.
- 4:36Speaker 1: Man, you feel me? Man, you already know what I
- 4:38Speaker 1: got on fashion over.
- 4:39Speaker 4: Y'all keep asking me when y'all see my my clothes,
- 4:43Speaker 4: y'all say, BT, where do you get your clothes from?
- 4:46Speaker 1: Fashion over? Hey? Look?
- 4:47Speaker 2: Hat, shades, shirt, shorts, socks, underwear.
- 4:53Speaker 4: I keep trying to tell y'all, keep trying to tell y'all,
- 4:56Speaker 4: it ain't the clothes that make the man.
- 4:57Speaker 1: It's the man to make the clothes. He did what
- 4:58Speaker 1: I'm saying, No, But then what's the fold? These the
- 5:03Speaker 1: official fall fold? They shoot peace? Let me see? And
- 5:08Speaker 1: then I got stars.
- 5:09Speaker 2: I got this that fashion over.
- 5:10Speaker 1: To so hold on, stand up. So look right now,
- 5:17Speaker 1: you look fashionable.
- 5:19Speaker 3: You don't look like you want no ship, okay, because
- 5:23Speaker 3: you got the burnt orange and you got the red,
- 5:25Speaker 3: white and blue like it ain't really fashion.
- 5:28Speaker 1: Yeah, so you could probably walk down mail roads or
- 5:31Speaker 1: something like that.
- 5:31Speaker 3: Or fair fact wherever y'all go, visit LA and nobody
- 5:34Speaker 3: would even say anything to you. Now if you if
- 5:37Speaker 3: that was like a bright, if it wasn't more if
- 5:39Speaker 3: it's a little bit more orange, and then you had
- 5:41Speaker 3: on the astros hat with it, Oh no, no, it
- 5:44Speaker 3: might be oh no, like you know, it might be
- 5:47Speaker 3: oh no, cause for something I know that's a that's
- 5:50Speaker 3: oh no. I'm not saying it's oh no. It's certain
- 5:52Speaker 3: it's yes with certain people.
- 5:54Speaker 4: But I mean, but but but you might not be
- 5:57Speaker 4: a kin to that energy, right because I don't know
- 5:59Speaker 4: anything about it.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Yeah, it's it's just you know, you grew up knowing it, right.
- 6:03Speaker 2: Okay, So first of aelmost I want to give your flowers, man,
- 6:09Speaker 2: have a lot of respect for you as a person,
- 6:11Speaker 2: a brand, an entity within the framework or what you do.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Want to say that on camera to you.
- 6:18Speaker 2: I want to start from the beginning. How'd you get
- 6:21Speaker 2: your start and how'd you get your name?
- 6:24Speaker 3: I started well, when I finished high school, I went
- 6:26Speaker 3: to radio. I took radio broadcasting that community college because
- 6:31Speaker 3: I'm like, I want to be on the radio. I
- 6:32Speaker 3: just knew I always had a voice. The homies used
- 6:35Speaker 3: to make fun of me in school, like tenth grade,
- 6:37Speaker 3: you got two kids in the mortgage because at the
- 6:40Speaker 3: way my voices are, you know what I'm.
- 6:42Speaker 2: Saying, but you got an announcing type of voice.
- 6:44Speaker 1: Yeah. So I always wanted to be on the radio.
- 6:46Speaker 3: I went to broadcasting school or took broadcasting classes at
- 6:50Speaker 3: so Rito's College and then but in school, like the
- 6:52Speaker 3: homies just wouldn't call me Aaron.
- 6:53Speaker 1: My government name is Aaron Drake. Ironically, you know, that's
- 6:57Speaker 1: like been a thing. But continue, We'll get into that later.
- 7:03Speaker 3: But they just wouldn't call me airing. They like, no, nigga,
- 7:08Speaker 3: your name head, nigga. Look at your ship, you know
- 7:10Speaker 3: what I'm saying. I'm like, bro, we were the same size.
- 7:12Speaker 1: Hey, yeah, but your ship is shaped different.
- 7:15Speaker 3: You know, we just don't call you head. Just so
- 7:18Speaker 3: I took the A out because like, I'm a nerd.
- 7:20Speaker 3: I'm a super geek.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Been good.
- 7:23Speaker 3: I'm good at video games, right, anybody want the Mario
- 7:25Speaker 3: car fade. I'm on the call of duty.
- 7:26Speaker 1: I'm on all that. I'm not good at the two K,
- 7:29Speaker 1: not good in the wreck. I'm the sixth man, so
- 7:31Speaker 1: I'm good at two K. I'm not the reck nigga.
- 7:34Speaker 1: But back in the day, like playing video and street Fighter,
- 7:37Speaker 1: Mortal Kombat. You know when you at a highest score,
- 7:40Speaker 1: it's room for you to put three initials. So I
- 7:42Speaker 1: just took the A out put H G D. So
- 7:44Speaker 1: that's kind of like I just kept my name.
- 7:46Speaker 2: And then when did you start DJing?
- 7:47Speaker 3: I went to college, got my radio certificate ate and
- 7:50Speaker 3: I watched like DJ he did. He did legendary out
- 7:52Speaker 3: there and he DJ for the Clippers now him DJ Kelly,
- 7:55Speaker 3: uh DJ Bad. I was watching him. I was wanting
- 7:58Speaker 3: to learn the craft, but really I was too like
- 8:01Speaker 3: timid to fuck with it. My big honey glasses. He
- 8:03Speaker 3: was like, once he started getting motion, we was promoting him,
- 8:06Speaker 3: he kind of got big.
- 8:07Speaker 1: In the city.
- 8:08Speaker 3: He's like, look, cuz you're gonna be my DJ. I'm like,
- 8:10Speaker 3: I don't know how to DJ. He's like, well, you
- 8:12Speaker 3: the smartest nigga. I know you can learn how to DJ.
- 8:14Speaker 3: So I took a year taking myself out of DJ.
- 8:16Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying, And my nigga, DJ Kelly
- 8:18Speaker 3: bought my first needles and my mixer and I just
- 8:20Speaker 3: just go to the club soon as the club O
- 8:21Speaker 3: because I couldn't afford equipment, so my homies let me.
- 8:24Speaker 3: I just fuck they records up, like you know when
- 8:27Speaker 3: they getting sound checking doors, Just fucking they records up
- 8:30Speaker 3: until I learned how to blend and shit. Then one
- 8:33Speaker 3: time we were still I never told this before. We
- 8:35Speaker 3: was doing a party in Long Beach and I think
- 8:39Speaker 3: it was the twenties, and the insans had got into it,
- 8:42Speaker 3: like that's just notorious. They all know each other, they
- 8:44Speaker 3: related and everything. They got into it. Our DJ packedic
- 8:47Speaker 3: shit and left. He was like, I'm out of here
- 8:50Speaker 3: because he was outside throwing them right, so and nobody
- 8:53Speaker 3: was shooting nothing because they know each other, y'all family.
- 8:55Speaker 3: But I was like my big bro pool He was
- 8:58Speaker 3: like DJ, I'm like, so, I just start pulling vinyls
- 9:01Speaker 3: and just start DJing the party.
- 9:03Speaker 1: And that's that was it that I start carrying craigs
- 9:06Speaker 1: for the homie DJ Kelly.
- 9:07Speaker 3: I couldn't afford a laptop ship that Toroado came later,
- 9:11Speaker 3: but and I started learning how to DJ, and then
- 9:13Speaker 3: eventually I got good fast, like a year, year and
- 9:15Speaker 3: a half, and then I start DJing parties.
- 9:19Speaker 2: Now a lot of people know you infamously now for
- 9:23Speaker 2: your commentary and the Drake Kendrick Lamar saga.
- 9:28Speaker 1: I call it a saga because it's definitely like a
- 9:31Speaker 1: television show.
- 9:33Speaker 4: Yeah, and you've definitely been one of the key voices
- 9:37Speaker 4: on letting us know what's really going on.
- 9:39Speaker 1: That's what I was talking was at the Black and
- 9:40Speaker 1: Flair podcast.
- 9:41Speaker 2: I was like, I know all the updates because of you. Yeah,
- 9:47Speaker 2: you had you had very insightful, accurate information. So I
- 9:51Speaker 2: feel like it immediately started putting you in spaces where
- 9:56Speaker 2: very few people are at correct because now when people
- 10:00Speaker 2: are coming to you for information and you're providing accurate information,
- 10:04Speaker 2: now it gives you room for people to critique, judge,
- 10:09Speaker 2: say oh fuck you, and give you your flowers as well.
- 10:14Speaker 2: How did that? First and foremost, how did you get
- 10:17Speaker 2: cool enough or how did you get tapped in enough
- 10:20Speaker 2: to provide all this information on Kendrick or speak on
- 10:24Speaker 2: what's going on on your side of the country, because
- 10:29Speaker 2: it's kind of like you were speaking for him, not really,
- 10:32Speaker 2: but really.
- 10:33Speaker 1: Did I tell you that? I said that that black effect.
- 10:37Speaker 2: But from where we're looking, you know, we're especially in Atlanta.
- 10:41Speaker 2: I'm not gonna speak for the entire city of Atlanta.
- 10:43Speaker 2: Because what happens is Drake comes to Atlanta often, so
- 10:46Speaker 2: he has ties in Atlanta with Future with twenty one Savage,
- 10:49Speaker 2: which Thug and stuff like that. So Drake like our
- 10:52Speaker 2: partner in Atlanta, you know what I'm saying. So, but
- 10:55Speaker 2: when he came to Atlanta or comes to Atlanta, it's cool.
- 10:59Speaker 2: So he frequented here as it should be, but Atlanta
- 11:02Speaker 2: always seems it seemed like Atlanta kind of was like wait, wait, wait, ibrow,
- 11:06Speaker 2: I brow up.
- 11:07Speaker 1: What's going on? Y'all? Put them on time out? No, no,
- 11:11Speaker 1: what do you mean?
- 11:12Speaker 2: No, we'll get to that. But I'm gonna get to
- 11:14Speaker 2: you because I feel like on your behalf you were
- 11:18Speaker 2: giving us updated accurate information on k do how, why, if, if?
- 11:27Speaker 1: When? What? But like how well?
- 11:29Speaker 3: These is the homies Like people think this ain't on
- 11:31Speaker 3: industry relations. These are my homies. For these are like
- 11:33Speaker 3: my friends. You know what I mean.
- 11:35Speaker 1: We came up together.
- 11:36Speaker 3: Like if you go back and listen to Halfsold second
- 11:40Speaker 3: project on TD from twenty and ten, I'm on, I'm
- 11:43Speaker 3: on a skit on that project like me and Dot
- 11:46Speaker 3: we was on tour together in twenty ten. You know
- 11:48Speaker 3: what I'm saying, Like it's footage on the internet right
- 11:50Speaker 3: now for us, me and him mixed boley, like we
- 11:54Speaker 3: on tour together in twenty ten, like eating noodles and
- 11:57Speaker 3: being broke together, like these is my friends in real life,
- 11:59Speaker 3: These ain't.
- 12:00Speaker 1: These ain't like people like oh, like a lot of.
- 12:02Speaker 3: People who took the other side is like fans and
- 12:05Speaker 3: shit niggas that would never break bread with them in
- 12:08Speaker 3: a day in they life, or you know, whatever the
- 12:10Speaker 3: case may be, like these is my homies. And as
- 12:14Speaker 3: you know, like the lineage where I come from, you
- 12:16Speaker 3: just you ride with your hommies. You know what I'm saying, good,
- 12:20Speaker 3: bad and different, wrong whatever. I don't believe in that
- 12:23Speaker 3: right or wrong shit that the street niggas always preach
- 12:25Speaker 3: to me, like right or wrong nigga, we riding together.
- 12:27Speaker 3: I don't necessarily subscribe to that because that's not that
- 12:31Speaker 3: goes against my moral compass. But if it's not morality
- 12:34Speaker 3: in question, these is my friends. These are my homies
- 12:35Speaker 3: I'm riding with. I'm swinging for a and t you
- 12:39Speaker 3: know what I'm saying, Like, that's just what it is.
- 12:40Speaker 1: So for me.
- 12:43Speaker 3: When it all cracked off, it's nobody was saying nothing
- 12:46Speaker 3: and it's like, bro, y'all know the homie, Like why nobody?
- 12:50Speaker 3: And so I'm like, I was more surprised that I
- 12:53Speaker 3: was the only one saying anything. That's where I was
- 12:55Speaker 3: coming from. I wasn't even tripping on the fact that
- 12:57Speaker 3: I'm being looked at as the guy. I'm just like,
- 13:00Speaker 3: bro y'all know the homie for real, Like you know him.
- 13:03Speaker 3: We all seen him sparring, freestyling, the projects. We notice
- 13:08Speaker 3: Nigga could rap. We know what he does creatively like
- 13:10Speaker 3: we and then on outside of that, not to say
- 13:14Speaker 3: it like that, but you know, like California specifically has
- 13:20Speaker 3: a reputation for being very disrespectful because and if you
- 13:25Speaker 3: die sac I'm a music nerd too, So if you
- 13:27Speaker 3: dissected musically, most people gonna dish you or say something
- 13:30Speaker 3: to you over some hip hop like what Joey Badass
- 13:33Speaker 3: is doing, right, they gonna boop the problem the real
- 13:36Speaker 3: and people can't figure out why the West Coast is
- 13:38Speaker 3: so inflammatory and why it's so big When it happens,
- 13:42Speaker 3: it's because we're gonna say some wild shit to you
- 13:45Speaker 3: and to beat and it's gonna be over some shit
- 13:46Speaker 3: you're gonna play in the club. That's that's the difference,
- 13:49Speaker 3: you know what I mean, Like it's gonna be over
- 13:51Speaker 3: some ship that you're gonna hear nigga, everybody's gonna be
- 13:54Speaker 3: singing it. It's gonna be a hook to it. You know,
- 13:56Speaker 3: you're gonna be a joker or whatever. So if you notice,
- 13:59Speaker 3: if you know that's where he come from, that's he
- 14:01Speaker 3: really from. He's really from Compton, you know what I'm saying.
- 14:04Speaker 3: Like my homies is really his homies. You know what
- 14:06Speaker 3: I'm saying, Like I know, like certain people not from him,
- 14:11Speaker 3: but that's with him, got it?
- 14:13Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 14:13Speaker 3: Like these is like people out have been over there
- 14:15Speaker 3: and DJed in the projects and Neela's and like you know,
- 14:18Speaker 3: Gweet or he in jail, but like little al like
- 14:20Speaker 3: these is my real Like I fuck with these dudes,
- 14:23Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying. But then it's the people
- 14:25Speaker 3: that people like who are these niggas on to Pip
- 14:27Speaker 3: Butterfly like? But they not catching it? And that's why
- 14:31Speaker 3: that's how I got involved.
- 14:32Speaker 2: It's not more so like you gotta evolve by association.
- 14:36Speaker 1: It's not it's not a thing that I asserted myself.
- 14:38Speaker 1: I wasn't trying to.
- 14:38Speaker 2: Do just that's already it's happening.
- 14:41Speaker 1: BT. BT is your guy.
- 14:44Speaker 3: So somebody across the tracks, like, get on the internet,
- 14:47Speaker 3: get on the on the on the radio station, on
- 14:48Speaker 3: another radio.
- 14:49Speaker 2: I'm saying with BT, I got you.
- 14:51Speaker 1: That's all it is.
- 14:51Speaker 2: It's all it is, okay. But before that happened, though,
- 14:54Speaker 2: I got you, BT was everything cool, everything was loved,
- 14:58Speaker 2: Like where were playing drap when we listening to d
- 15:01Speaker 2: we're supporting Drake.
- 15:02Speaker 1: I still play as Worcords on my radio show right now.
- 15:05Speaker 1: I'm not one of them people who like is delusional.
- 15:08Speaker 1: I play no kid like I'm not as a DJ
- 15:13Speaker 1: with y'all should notice, it's not about you. Thank you.
- 15:17Speaker 1: Most DJ not most.
- 15:19Speaker 3: A lot of dj is get on them turntables and
- 15:21Speaker 3: get to plan what they want to hear and be five.
- 15:24Speaker 1: It's five hundred people, and I hate that. That's play
- 15:26Speaker 1: what they want, some vain ship. I don't like that.
- 15:28Speaker 1: Like I'm I'm I'm gonna be honest with you.
- 15:30Speaker 3: I'm I've been DJing professionally since two thousand and I
- 15:35Speaker 3: would say nine right, I have never I've dejayed in Vegas, overseas, everywhere.
- 15:41Speaker 1: I have never prepared a set. I've never prepared a
- 15:45Speaker 1: DJ set like I'm gonna do this in the crowd.
- 15:48Speaker 3: That's why it was so hard for me to do
- 15:50Speaker 3: radio because I don't have a crowd to feed off of.
- 15:52Speaker 3: So I had to learn a new out of exercise,
- 15:54Speaker 3: a new muscle and just programming, right, learning programming. But
- 15:58Speaker 3: I'm a crowd reader. If y'all put me in any
- 16:01Speaker 3: club in Atlanta, I'm gonna go in there. I'm it's
- 16:03Speaker 3: gonna take me about twenty minutes to figure out what
- 16:05Speaker 3: they what they own. And then once I go cause,
- 16:07Speaker 3: I'll go extreme over here, I'll go Miley Cyrus, you
- 16:10Speaker 3: know what I'm saying. Oh okay, not Miley, alright. I
- 16:12Speaker 3: come up to Juicy, all right, Juicy, all right, that's
- 16:14Speaker 3: my that's this side. And I go over here, I
- 16:16Speaker 3: go not like, okay, they ain't on that. Or then
- 16:18Speaker 3: I go up to let me see Gee Perica, Okay,
- 16:21Speaker 3: y'all not on that? What about the drama mixed to
- 16:23Speaker 3: a ya? So I once I figure out my bearing,
- 16:26Speaker 3: I'm locked in.
- 16:27Speaker 1: That's how DJ and Atlanta just future. If he plays
- 16:29Speaker 1: the future, I'm not.
- 16:31Speaker 3: I'm not one of them DJs. Who like just play
- 16:34Speaker 3: like fuck him and all that kind of shit like that.
- 16:36Speaker 3: So like, that's not what I'm on now. If it
- 16:39Speaker 3: was that, it could be that too, but that's not
- 16:42Speaker 3: what I'm own now.
- 16:43Speaker 4: The thing, well, I'm most surprised about is like what
- 16:45Speaker 4: you're saying, Like you were surprised by how nobody was
- 16:49Speaker 4: saying anything. Do you feel like people wasn't saying anything
- 16:51Speaker 4: because it kind of started off like a like a
- 16:54Speaker 4: popularity contest, you know what I'm saying, Like it because
- 16:58Speaker 4: people was really kind of like, I don't really know
- 17:01Speaker 4: how this is gonna go, you know what I mean.
- 17:03Speaker 4: And when you start being vocal about it, you were
- 17:07Speaker 4: the only person being vocal about it.
- 17:09Speaker 1: You gotta think I got in the field when it
- 17:11Speaker 1: wasn't cool that wasn't saying nothing. This after the Push
- 17:15Speaker 1: Up Ship.
- 17:15Speaker 3: I mean, this is why Push Ups was the only
- 17:18Speaker 3: one that at nobody had the record. You didn't have
- 17:20Speaker 3: the record, I didn't nobody act the only nigga had
- 17:22Speaker 3: the record. So I'm like, well, if that show again,
- 17:26Speaker 3: this is always wasn't it Like wasn't like that first
- 17:29Speaker 3: yeah was.
- 17:30Speaker 1: That came out? But he engaged. So the thing is
- 17:34Speaker 1: it's like where I'm from, this is it sounds repetitive,
- 17:40Speaker 1: but it's just I don't that's the answer. The truth
- 17:42Speaker 1: is the answer. Were we from?
- 17:44Speaker 3: You don't like false flag like you don't claim to
- 17:48Speaker 3: be Like like B two said earlier about what I'm wearing,
- 17:50Speaker 3: I ain't. That ain't what I'm own like I'm just
- 17:52Speaker 3: wearing the shirt. You can't false flag where we're from.
- 17:56Speaker 3: That's an automatic problem and you gotta you know.
- 17:58Speaker 1: What I mean.
- 17:59Speaker 3: So the way I'm looking at it, like if BT
- 18:02Speaker 3: and Rory put out a record, put out a disc record,
- 18:05Speaker 3: but y'all are only two niggas playing the record or
- 18:08Speaker 3: have the record?
- 18:09Speaker 1: Is it real? Why is it not? Why are you
- 18:12Speaker 1: not putting it out? Where is the record at? And
- 18:14Speaker 1: so that's where I was.
- 18:15Speaker 3: I was just and I hadn't even talked to that
- 18:17Speaker 3: at this point. This is just me speaking just for me, Like, bro,
- 18:20Speaker 3: if that's your record, put the record out, you know
- 18:22Speaker 3: what I mean. And then when they started him and
- 18:25Speaker 3: acting all them, they started to engage. It was it
- 18:27Speaker 3: became a story. But I wasn't speaking on nobody's behalf.
- 18:31Speaker 2: Question hindsight looking at how it started, and do you
- 18:35Speaker 2: think that it could have been resolved or they could
- 18:39Speaker 2: have squashed this before it went to before it got
- 18:42Speaker 2: to not like us and family matters and all that.
- 18:47Speaker 1: Do you wish that that happened?
- 18:48Speaker 3: No, because this got a chance for the homie to
- 18:52Speaker 3: prove to the world what he really is, because people don't.
- 18:55Speaker 3: People always doubted it, like and also not that they
- 18:58Speaker 3: doubted his greatness. Two things happen. One is they finally
- 19:02Speaker 3: had to admit their biases. This revealed a lot of
- 19:05Speaker 3: biases into the world. It's like, people just don't fuck
- 19:09Speaker 3: with you, and that's okay. But I respect a racist
- 19:12Speaker 3: white person who say they're racist more so than I
- 19:14Speaker 3: respect a nigga who say who don't say nothing.
- 19:17Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. I just have more respect
- 19:19Speaker 1: for that because.
- 19:20Speaker 2: At least you telling me where you at.
- 19:22Speaker 1: We that's it and where I'm from, Authenticity is number
- 19:25Speaker 1: one for sure. It's protocols.
- 19:27Speaker 3: Yeah, so I don't necessarily so if what that's one
- 19:30Speaker 3: thing is just revealed the truth of the matter, then
- 19:34Speaker 3: when I spoke to him, he coccurd and then you
- 19:36Speaker 3: heard it on Euphoria. What I learned he didn't even
- 19:39Speaker 3: he knew, but he didn't know. I've been saying this.
- 19:43Speaker 3: If you go back, you can look on my Instagram
- 19:45Speaker 3: and go back twenty twelve. I got on West Coast shirts.
- 19:48Speaker 3: I've been pushing the same, Go back, go talk to
- 19:51Speaker 3: DJO when they first hired me in real nineties. With
- 19:54Speaker 3: three in La twenty fifteen, I'm yelling, we need to
- 19:56Speaker 3: be West Coast, we need I've been the same for
- 19:58Speaker 3: the twenty years.
- 20:00Speaker 1: I've been biased the whole time. I'm not anti anybody.
- 20:02Speaker 1: I'm just pro us. It ain't none wrong with that,
- 20:05Speaker 1: ain't non wrong with that.
- 20:06Speaker 3: So my thing is what one it showed the biases,
- 20:11Speaker 3: and then two it showed the world It's like, yeah,
- 20:14Speaker 3: he's his artsy, fartsy esoteric black revolutionary, but he's still
- 20:18Speaker 3: a nigga from Compton. And I think that's what shocked everybody.
- 20:22Speaker 3: It's like, this is when G and X came out.
- 20:24Speaker 3: It's still Luther just came out as number one, right now,
- 20:26Speaker 3: still right, g and X came out.
- 20:28Speaker 1: It's like, what is this? This is too la, this
- 20:31Speaker 1: is too s coast. DJ is calling me from all
- 20:33Speaker 1: over rang gonna say who it was, y'all. We ain't
- 20:35Speaker 1: fucking with this as soon as they dropped this ship
- 20:37Speaker 1: to West Coast.
- 20:38Speaker 3: Ain't never gonna it, ain't never gonna go. We ain't
- 20:40Speaker 3: fucking with it, Okay. But what that showed me is
- 20:44Speaker 3: that you pre you, you had a predetermined way of feeling.
- 20:47Speaker 3: You feel a way already, and.
- 20:49Speaker 4: So what it does is just it just reveals, it
- 20:51Speaker 4: just amplifies like all the the naysayers and how they
- 20:54Speaker 4: how they's just like, bro the.
- 20:56Speaker 3: South, Atlanta's been running ship the South. I've been having
- 20:58Speaker 3: it for having that away fifteen years plus. Right, you
- 21:02Speaker 3: can the credit. How you can go with the Dungeon family, go,
- 21:04Speaker 3: you can go however far back you want to go. Right, Nobody, nobody.
- 21:09Speaker 3: I've never heard anybody say that something sounds too Atlanta.
- 21:14Speaker 3: I've been doing this shit twenty years, literally, twenty two
- 21:17Speaker 3: thousand and five. Yeah, twenty years, two thousand and five,
- 21:19Speaker 3: so this will be my twentieth year in the music business,
- 21:23Speaker 3: and I've never heard anybody say this should sound too Atlanta.
- 21:26Speaker 1: Not one person, have you? Nope? But have you heard
- 21:28Speaker 1: if you heard the term too West Coast? Yes, I know,
- 21:31Speaker 1: because that's how niggas feel.
- 21:32Speaker 3: That's okay, But tell me how that's how you feel
- 21:35Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying, and so like for me,
- 21:38Speaker 3: that's why, that's why I've been so vocal, Because I've been,
- 21:41Speaker 3: I've been, and me and him talked about it too.
- 21:43Speaker 1: I've been yelling this for the last twenty years.
- 21:47Speaker 3: Hey, push our line, push our line, push our line,
- 21:49Speaker 3: because that's what everybody else is gonna do.
- 21:51Speaker 1: That's just what it is.
- 21:52Speaker 4: And I feel like even the whole situation is has
- 21:55Speaker 4: magnified the talent and the essence of you know what
- 21:59Speaker 4: the West Coast is. I want to ask you, though,
- 22:02Speaker 4: do you feel like depending on what neighborhood people are from,
- 22:06Speaker 4: that that kind of hinders with pushing the agenda of
- 22:09Speaker 4: the West Coast music?
- 22:10Speaker 1: Do that hinder? What does that hinder?
- 22:12Speaker 4: Like, Like if somebody's from this neighborhood and you know,
- 22:15Speaker 4: they can't do music.
- 22:16Speaker 1: Together because our politics. Our politics is probably number three
- 22:21Speaker 1: on the list gotta be number one, It's number three
- 22:23Speaker 1: on the list from things that hold us back? What's
- 22:25Speaker 1: number one? Number one is demographics?
- 22:27Speaker 3: Okay, our demographic and not even in California, Western Texas.
- 22:33Speaker 3: I mean, it do all depend on how much nerding.
- 22:35Speaker 3: I'm a nerd, so I study like migration routes like
- 22:39Speaker 3: Oregon Trail type shit.
- 22:40Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. You know, if you look
- 22:43Speaker 1: at land masses. There's this graph on the internet where
- 22:45Speaker 1: if you.
- 22:45Speaker 3: Look at where the largest bodies of water are, that's
- 22:48Speaker 3: what civilization settle, right, because of agriculture and land development
- 22:52Speaker 3: stuff like that. Not that many black people went west
- 22:56Speaker 3: because you couldn't afford you have that money to go west. Yeah,
- 22:58Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying, a lot of y'all stayed
- 22:59Speaker 3: here south. Even the Midwest was kind of far. That's
- 23:03Speaker 3: why it's called the Men and West because they thought
- 23:04Speaker 3: that that was middle way, midway through to the West coast,
- 23:08Speaker 3: which is not if you know what Chicago is, that's
- 23:10Speaker 3: not even close.
- 23:10Speaker 1: That's not that's not close at all. You know what
- 23:12Speaker 1: I'm saying.
- 23:13Speaker 3: Ohio, Ohio on three hour time, they were just like, y'all,
- 23:15Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying, that's not middle or nothing.
- 23:18Speaker 1: You feel me?
- 23:19Speaker 3: So anyway, long story short, that's number one is our demographic.
- 23:23Speaker 3: It's more Meskans, Spaniards, et cetera, not black people. That's
- 23:27Speaker 3: number one that hold us back because you can't relate
- 23:30Speaker 3: to that and not not to be like that, but
- 23:32Speaker 3: white people came and stole that land from the Spaniards.
- 23:36Speaker 3: Came the Spaniards and the the Caucasians came and stole
- 23:38Speaker 3: that from the Mesicans and shit like that. So technically
- 23:41Speaker 3: that's their land. So when people be like all this
- 23:44Speaker 3: Trump shit sitting niggas back, bro, y'all took it from them.
- 23:47Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying, Los Angeles, that's not an
- 23:50Speaker 3: American word. Sandina, that's not a Mexican that's not an
- 23:53Speaker 3: American word.
- 23:54Speaker 1: Our ship, all our.
- 23:56Speaker 3: Ship, all that stuff down there is it's not. That's
- 23:58Speaker 3: Latin culture, you know what I'm saying. So it's just
- 24:00Speaker 3: different than yeah saying anything. Yeah, all those streets are
- 24:04Speaker 3: are are not like if you look at textas same
- 24:07Speaker 3: thing San Antonio, that's Latin culture. That's no white people
- 24:11Speaker 3: was like, this is San Antonio.
- 24:16Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. I'm just saying, it's it's deeper.
- 24:18Speaker 2: Thank So it's number two.
- 24:20Speaker 1: Number two would be sound music. So West Coast music.
- 24:27Speaker 2: I do think that your music stays there. But I
- 24:31Speaker 2: still like it though, because when I come.
- 24:33Speaker 4: There now, I love the West Coast Coast music different.
- 24:37Speaker 1: So West Coast quote unquote traditional West Coast music. When
- 24:40Speaker 1: you hear it, you don't know.
- 24:42Speaker 3: People went like, I got a lot of ship for
- 24:44Speaker 3: being on DDG streaming because I was talking about this
- 24:46Speaker 3: ship and he don't know music, and it wasn't this
- 24:49Speaker 3: he said, he don't know music. I'm a music person first,
- 24:52Speaker 3: So my problem is I often have music conversations with
- 24:55Speaker 3: non music niggas. Right, But the music that's the sound
- 25:00Speaker 3: aditional West Coast music is a derivative of funk.
- 25:04Speaker 1: Right.
- 25:04Speaker 3: Funk it's baselines, base lines, and tempo yunk music. So
- 25:09Speaker 3: Southern music is derived from blues, right, which is why
- 25:12Speaker 3: it's slow. Y'all think it's fast because all the producers
- 25:16Speaker 3: producing double time. Most of the producers they producing, they
- 25:19Speaker 3: able to. They fruity lose they producing and double time.
- 25:21Speaker 3: So if they say they play a song like Wicked
- 25:24Speaker 3: is seventy nine bpm, that it was produced that double
- 25:27Speaker 3: that as opposed to it being like if it's eight
- 25:29Speaker 3: BPM's produced at one sixty, you feel me there's now
- 25:33Speaker 3: this is some nerd shit for the for the kids.
- 25:35Speaker 3: But if you're playing that song most and if you
- 25:39Speaker 3: look in at DJ's computer, it's probably at one eight
- 25:41Speaker 3: when it's really seventy nine, you feel.
- 25:43Speaker 1: Because they speed it up.
- 25:45Speaker 2: No, it's just produced in double.
- 25:47Speaker 3: Yeah, because the high hats and the drums and shit
- 25:50Speaker 3: move faster. So, because Southern music is rooted in blues
- 25:54Speaker 3: and West Coast music is rooted in funk, it's automatically segregated.
- 25:59Speaker 3: So when you hear a song you say that sound
- 26:02Speaker 3: like a West Coast song?
- 26:04Speaker 1: What what makes you say that? It's always going to
- 26:06Speaker 1: be the baseline?
- 26:07Speaker 3: For instance, I had I wanted talking to Joe Budden, right,
- 26:10Speaker 3: I said, Joe, has anybody ever told you that pump
- 26:12Speaker 3: it Up sound like a West Coast song? He's like, never,
- 26:15Speaker 3: I said, I know, But pumping Up is one hundred
- 26:17Speaker 3: and five bpm, so is most a lot of these
- 26:21Speaker 3: West Coast This.
- 26:24Speaker 1: Is one hundred hundred yeah.
- 26:26Speaker 3: So but when people hear tempo now, they automatically think
- 26:29Speaker 3: as a West Coast song because of because of Claire
- 26:33Speaker 3: Drip is one hundred epm metro metro. He's he's a scientist,
- 26:37Speaker 3: so he's good at what he does, but he produced
- 26:40Speaker 3: in ours. I said this eight years ago. I said,
- 26:42Speaker 3: the first person to make a trap song with rhythmic tempo.
- 26:45Speaker 3: Now I'm using radio terms, it's going to go to
- 26:47Speaker 3: the bank. Rick Clair Drip still getting played to this day,
- 26:49Speaker 3: but it's one hundred EPM record producing with trap songs. Dude,
- 26:52Speaker 3: that sound like a West Coast record to you, not
- 26:54Speaker 3: really sonically, but it got tempo which automatically is associated
- 26:58Speaker 3: with West Coast temper.
- 26:59Speaker 1: And translates over there better too.
- 27:01Speaker 4: Is what I realized, because even even when you you
- 27:04Speaker 4: looking at like I remember when I was in LA
- 27:07Speaker 4: and I was just to the radio. I was like, damn, man, Okay.
- 27:10Speaker 4: I was like, I was like, damn man, I heard like.
- 27:14Speaker 1: I was in the cars, like damn. I don't heard
- 27:15Speaker 1: like five Chris Brown records. Then I did. I get
- 27:18Speaker 1: to Chris House.
- 27:19Speaker 4: I'm like, man, you're all on the radio here. But
- 27:22Speaker 4: I understand he's like an alien in what he does
- 27:25Speaker 4: because he knows the BPM, the time link, everything that
- 27:29Speaker 4: he did.
- 27:29Speaker 1: And I'm like, I never thought that.
- 27:31Speaker 2: I was like, I never would think that.
- 27:33Speaker 1: You thought like this. He's like, yeah, that's why he know.
- 27:36Speaker 3: Yeah, but but here's the secret throw and this would
- 27:39Speaker 3: always tell people you got Jermaine Duprie. JD is my
- 27:42Speaker 3: goal Number one on the list best of all time, right, JD.
- 27:46Speaker 3: You got Doctor Dre, you got Timbaland, you got Swiss,
- 27:49Speaker 3: you got Little John who do you know could accidentally
- 27:54Speaker 3: be successful for thirty years?
- 27:56Speaker 1: Nobody. They know some shit, they know and they know something.
- 27:59Speaker 1: That's my point.
- 28:00Speaker 3: They know some music most as much as people go
- 28:02Speaker 3: in to booth. And I'm for the freestyle and I'm
- 28:04Speaker 3: feeling music is a formula. It's a recipe, and the
- 28:06Speaker 3: best recipes is recipes that's been perfected.
- 28:08Speaker 1: And you cook that motherfucker over and over again. That's
- 28:11Speaker 1: all this shit is. Yeah, and I and I appreciate.
- 28:13Speaker 4: Like I was telling Ferrari, I said, man, the things
- 28:16Speaker 4: that most uh that's fascinating to me is longevity, right
- 28:21Speaker 4: because even in the spaces that that we're in, like it,
- 28:25Speaker 4: it's hard to be in this business for for a
- 28:28Speaker 4: real long time and you see giants collide like what
- 28:33Speaker 4: you've seen with Kadot and what you've seen with Drake,
- 28:35Speaker 4: and these guys have been in the game for a
- 28:37Speaker 4: long time, and I've seen that that Drake is pushing
- 28:41Speaker 4: the envelope that he felt like that record was like
- 28:44Speaker 4: amplified against him to to dilute, you know, his his
- 28:49Speaker 4: negotiation when he going to the label. You you feel
- 28:53Speaker 4: like that that record was pushed the agenda to, you know,
- 28:56Speaker 4: to dilute his The record.
- 28:58Speaker 1: Is a jam, that's a good It's a slap, just
- 29:02Speaker 1: like when you make a slap. Yeah, everybody gonna play it.
- 29:05Speaker 3: They're gonna mean it, They're gonna post it, they're gonna
- 29:07Speaker 3: retweet it like it's just a slap. It's not crazy,
- 29:10Speaker 3: it's not It's not this consorted effort to to the
- 29:13Speaker 3: demise of one individual. It's just that what I think
- 29:16Speaker 3: what's fan in the flames is that people don't want
- 29:20Speaker 3: to come to grips with the reality of things. The
- 29:23Speaker 3: reality of things is, hey, bro, we call it coming outside.
- 29:29Speaker 3: You come off the porch.
- 29:30Speaker 1: Right When I used to spend summers, I used to
- 29:33Speaker 1: spend summers and content with my cousin Ian and he
- 29:36Speaker 1: lived on the street called Chester and right down right
- 29:38Speaker 1: next down the street, it's south Side Park.
- 29:41Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying, Shot shout to pun So
- 29:43Speaker 3: it's south Side Park right there. I used to be
- 29:46Speaker 3: afraid to go outside because I know I gotta go
- 29:48Speaker 3: to the park. But what happens is you can't just
- 29:53Speaker 3: be over there all the time and not go outside.
- 29:56Speaker 3: I think what happens is the more you get to
- 29:58Speaker 3: stay inside, reality starts to shift.
- 30:01Speaker 1: For you, and outside don't become real.
- 30:03Speaker 3: Right, So I think what happens is the longer you stay,
- 30:06Speaker 3: you up here and you couldn't possibly fathom not being here.
- 30:11Speaker 3: And so when our reality started, you go to the
- 30:13Speaker 3: park and get your ass whooped. You like, but I'm here. No, no, no, no,
- 30:18Speaker 3: you're not here at the park. At the park, you
- 30:21Speaker 3: with a nigga who lost the fight. It's simple, it's
- 30:25Speaker 3: not it's not complicated.
- 30:28Speaker 1: You make it. You make it a lot of sense.
- 30:30Speaker 1: You make it, You make it a lot of sense.
- 30:33Speaker 1: But I do feel like.
- 30:36Speaker 4: I do feel like these are these are two gigantic
- 30:39Speaker 4: artists that like, at some point could just come together
- 30:42Speaker 4: and you know, coexist.
- 30:45Speaker 1: I don't see that happening. You don't think that you
- 30:47Speaker 1: mean coming together.
- 30:48Speaker 4: Like what I mean, not like like we friends, but
- 30:51Speaker 4: like the in the sense of being like you know,
- 30:54Speaker 4: like I respect I respect the battle, I respect your craft.
- 30:57Speaker 4: It could have been that way, but you think it
- 31:00Speaker 4: got too personal. People start mentioning family member absolutely.
- 31:05Speaker 1: Something that Glasses told me fifteen years ago.
- 31:07Speaker 3: Because I'm a jokester. I do pranks on niggas. I'm
- 31:11Speaker 3: that guy, right, I like to I'm a funny jokester.
- 31:15Speaker 3: And one thing he set me down. He say, look
- 31:17Speaker 3: cuz everybody ain't playing. I only have to be told
- 31:20Speaker 3: that one time. Some people learn by putting a hand
- 31:23Speaker 3: in the fire over and over again. I learned from
- 31:25Speaker 3: watching other people crash. I don't have to crash, So
- 31:28Speaker 3: for me, I only have to be told that one
- 31:30Speaker 3: time to understand, Oh, everybody ain't playing. So somebody if
- 31:34Speaker 3: BT if BT is telling me like, hey, bro, like,
- 31:38Speaker 3: we're gonna go outside and we can get to it.
- 31:41Speaker 3: But nigga, don't pull my braids. We're gonna It's called
- 31:45Speaker 3: a friendly, A friendly fake. A friendly is reserved for
- 31:49Speaker 3: people you have respect for, are you friends with, or
- 31:52Speaker 3: you have a relationship with.
- 31:53Speaker 1: That's what a friendly is where I'm from. A friendly
- 31:56Speaker 1: is not for an OP or an enemy or somebody
- 31:59Speaker 1: who is as an offender. Right offenders get we call
- 32:04Speaker 1: it getting packed or maxed out. There's no opportunity for retribution,
- 32:09Speaker 1: there's no conversation. It's just when I see you as
- 32:11Speaker 1: own and stuff. Right, So that wasn't that wasn't a thing.
- 32:15Speaker 1: But if I offer you a friendly and then you
- 32:18Speaker 1: ship on the friendly, now it's scorched earth. Gotcha. Now,
- 32:23Speaker 1: it's like one of us getting packed out.
- 32:25Speaker 3: Now, it don't matter what happened to you. Because I
- 32:28Speaker 3: offered you the friendly you pull I put you offered
- 32:31Speaker 3: me the friendly. I did the one thing you told
- 32:33Speaker 3: me not to do. It's just pull your braids during
- 32:36Speaker 3: our our friendly. Because a friendly me and you go outside,
- 32:38Speaker 3: we run the fairy one and then we go eat.
- 32:41Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying, man, that was that was
- 32:42Speaker 3: a good ship you whatever, that's a friendly. You told
- 32:46Speaker 3: me the only thing that's off limits djhed is don't
- 32:49Speaker 3: pull my braids. And I pull your braids. Now it's
- 32:52Speaker 3: no longer friendly because you you told me what the
- 32:55Speaker 3: line was, and I was like, you know what I'm saying.
- 32:58Speaker 3: So once I crossed that line and at that point,
- 33:01Speaker 3: whatever happens happens.
- 33:03Speaker 4: Now, what do you feel about all the stuff with
- 33:06Speaker 4: Like what you know when you look at like the
- 33:09Speaker 4: West Coast right, like, well, I see a lot of media.
- 33:11Speaker 4: I see like a lot of you know, people that
- 33:13Speaker 4: are gang affiliated talking about certain things on camera and
- 33:15Speaker 4: stuff like that. Like how you feel about all the
- 33:18Speaker 4: stuff that's going on with like people are getting locked
- 33:20Speaker 4: up from doing you know, podcasts and stuff like that.
- 33:23Speaker 1: I don't participate in it. I don't even. I don't even.
- 33:26Speaker 3: I don't one thing I always since I started doing
- 33:28Speaker 3: radio or broadcasting. I don't talk about street shit on
- 33:31Speaker 3: the air. I don't interview street niggas about street shit.
- 33:33Speaker 3: That ain't none of my business. I'm a non affiliate.
- 33:35Speaker 3: What am I doing talking about street shit? M You
- 33:38Speaker 3: know what I'm saying, Even when like certain things happen,
- 33:40Speaker 3: like when Nipsey got murdered, right, people wanted me to
- 33:43Speaker 3: have conversations like that ain't on air conversation you know
- 33:46Speaker 3: what I'm saying, Like that's that's something.
- 33:48Speaker 2: Did you want to have a conversation or you just knew? Nah,
- 33:51Speaker 2: I'm not speaking on that.
- 33:52Speaker 3: No, it's no reason, it's no point because to me, again,
- 33:57Speaker 3: like I just told et, like everything everybody ain't playing
- 34:00Speaker 3: and everything ain't content to me, you know what I'm saying,
- 34:03Speaker 3: Like Rory got kids, right, that ain't content to me.
- 34:07Speaker 3: No matter what happened in Rory's life, you ain't never
- 34:09Speaker 3: gonna see me on the radiol It could be nigga,
- 34:12Speaker 3: his son got charged with this or his nigga he
- 34:15Speaker 3: got caught cheating and he got a baby on the
- 34:16Speaker 3: way over here, and everything ain't content to me.
- 34:19Speaker 4: Which is never happened, by the way, but I feel
- 34:22Speaker 4: like you kind of take you kind of take it
- 34:24Speaker 4: like how we take it.
- 34:25Speaker 1: Right.
- 34:25Speaker 4: So we had a conversation with Ray Daniels and yeah,
- 34:30Speaker 4: shout out, shout out to Ray Daniels and meant to
- 34:32Speaker 4: tell you know, okay, uh, you know.
- 34:36Speaker 1: Academics and no.
- 34:38Speaker 4: Jumper felt a certain type of way about the things
- 34:40Speaker 4: that he were discussing during our.
- 34:42Speaker 2: Show, and he basically said, we can't talk like that
- 34:46Speaker 2: in Atlanta because people are gonna pull.
- 34:49Speaker 1: Up on you. What was y'all talking about, Well, we
- 34:52Speaker 1: was talking.
- 34:52Speaker 4: We was talking about the fact that, like, you know,
- 34:55Speaker 4: we feel like certain certain cities get away with a
- 34:58Speaker 4: lot of stuff with like how people talk about certain
- 35:00Speaker 4: stuff on it you know, like we're not street guys,
- 35:03Speaker 4: so we don't feel the need we should be talking
- 35:05Speaker 4: about certain.
- 35:05Speaker 1: Things on camera.
- 35:08Speaker 4: And that's basically what Ray Daniels saying, like, Hey, we
- 35:10Speaker 4: don't do that here because we outside and at some point.
- 35:14Speaker 2: You can literally find go on my Instagram and know
- 35:17Speaker 2: where I'm going to be at.
- 35:18Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 35:18Speaker 4: Yeah, we're telling people where we're at. Hey, tonight, I'm
- 35:20Speaker 4: gonna be hosting here.
- 35:22Speaker 2: Talk about it so people will pull up on you
- 35:24Speaker 2: because we outside who have a problem with that.
- 35:28Speaker 1: The people he mentioned mentioned academics. They said, what was
- 35:31Speaker 1: a problem though they basically said that Atlanta has nothing
- 35:34Speaker 1: going on?
- 35:34Speaker 4: Well, No, Jumper basically said Atlanta had no media presence
- 35:38Speaker 4: going on, and academics felt like that people like media
- 35:42Speaker 4: personalities were scared to talk about like certain things.
- 35:44Speaker 3: And he said, but that's easy to talk, that's easy
- 35:47Speaker 3: to say from people who don't be nowhere.
- 35:49Speaker 1: Yeah, and that's and that I feel the same type.
- 35:51Speaker 1: I've ever seen that individual anywhere. Nope, me either.
- 35:56Speaker 2: I mean, hey, man, I won't I wasn't even tripping
- 35:58Speaker 2: on their opinion because I'd be outside. So I mean,
- 36:00Speaker 2: I'm I'm very easy to find.
- 36:03Speaker 1: It's not about being easy, see but this is my thing.
- 36:06Speaker 2: Let me, let me, let me finish. I would say
- 36:07Speaker 2: I'm very easy to find. Therefore, I make sure I'm
- 36:10Speaker 2: very intelligent with the things I talk about, what I
- 36:13Speaker 2: talk about, who I talk about, and the things that
- 36:16Speaker 2: I don't touch on don't concern me. I'm mind my business.
- 36:21Speaker 2: But then again, you know, I still gotta do my job.
- 36:22Speaker 2: I do my job with as much respect as possible.
- 36:27Speaker 2: And I know that there's certain every like you said,
- 36:29Speaker 2: everybody ain't playing, so therefore certain things I'm not gonna
- 36:31Speaker 2: speak on period.
- 36:33Speaker 1: But also it's not even so.
- 36:35Speaker 3: There's this thing right where Glasses always talks about game
- 36:38Speaker 3: banging and how people I didn't get it at first.
- 36:41Speaker 3: He did because I grew up around it, you know
- 36:42Speaker 3: what I'm saying. I grew up on the East Side.
- 36:44Speaker 3: There's a lot of gangs over there, and I was
- 36:46Speaker 3: a product of my environment. Not I'll never join the gang,
- 36:49Speaker 3: but you know, I got in a little bit of
- 36:51Speaker 3: trouble early on or whatever. But he always talks about
- 36:56Speaker 3: like I didn't. I thought game bang was about geography,
- 36:59Speaker 3: like why would you claim streets you don't own?
- 37:01Speaker 1: Like I thought very linear. I thought very digital, like
- 37:04Speaker 1: just black and white.
- 37:06Speaker 3: And as I start to hang out with the hommies
- 37:08Speaker 3: more and understand different things, it's not about that it's
- 37:11Speaker 3: just your bond. It's it's your friend group with your commonality.
- 37:14Speaker 3: But more importantly, what it teaches you is manhood and accountability.
- 37:17Speaker 3: Because BT represents the Baller Alert Show. Rory represents the
- 37:23Speaker 3: Baller Alert Show. So if BT jump out there and
- 37:27Speaker 3: say fuck them over there on the Baller Alert.
- 37:30Speaker 1: Show, he represents the collective fact.
- 37:33Speaker 3: Now one person is responsible for the entire movement, right,
- 37:37Speaker 3: so now everybody has to answer for this one person.
- 37:41Speaker 3: People who never played Little league or who never played
- 37:45Speaker 3: communal sports. I played baseball, I played basketball. People who
- 37:48Speaker 3: don't go to the park like I talked about, people
- 37:50Speaker 3: who don't hang out or don't go outside or around around.
- 37:53Speaker 1: Humans in these ways don't understand that. That's what accountability,
- 37:57Speaker 1: that's what manhood looks like.
- 37:58Speaker 3: So yeah, you can just fly for handle and say
- 38:00Speaker 3: whatever you want to say because there's no accountability stable
- 38:03Speaker 3: to it. I agree, but also, but also you shouldn't
- 38:06Speaker 3: waste your time articulating that to people who couldn't understand it.
- 38:09Speaker 2: And that's why I did. I didn't reply.
- 38:10Speaker 1: I know he gonna crash.
- 38:15Speaker 4: I just you know, uh, you know, shout out to Ray.
- 38:19Speaker 4: But you know, Ray Ray is very much like you know,
- 38:22Speaker 4: he's proud to be from Atlanta. He's proud, you know,
- 38:25Speaker 4: and and Ray Ray definitely you know, he he was
- 38:28Speaker 4: going up and we was all supposed to have a conversation.
- 38:33Speaker 1: You know, he was gonna go to New York, have
- 38:34Speaker 1: a conversation, sit down and act. But it never happened.
- 38:38Speaker 2: But I'm fine. It doesn't matter to me. I'm cool.
- 38:40Speaker 2: Like I just feel like we're gonna focus on what
- 38:42Speaker 2: we focusing on, and we're gonna.
- 38:43Speaker 1: And I feel like certain people do do content the
- 38:45Speaker 1: way they do content. Look, I like being outside, you
- 38:48Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. So you are outside, I'm outside. Yeah,
- 38:52Speaker 1: outside is me. So it's stuff. Don't pretend to speaking
- 38:58Speaker 1: on it.
- 38:58Speaker 3: Yeah, But the thing is, that's what I'm trying to
- 39:00Speaker 3: explain it. It's not about people can find you. It's
- 39:02Speaker 3: just about moral compass and manhood ship.
- 39:04Speaker 1: Yeah, accountability, just accountability a man.
- 39:07Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm not gonna say whatever whatever I have said,
- 39:11Speaker 3: whatever I have said about anybody, I will say to
- 39:14Speaker 3: them and probably I probably have already told them facts.
- 39:19Speaker 2: I always lead with that too, because I feel I
- 39:21Speaker 2: feel I feel like when we did the r Kelly thing,
- 39:25Speaker 2: m hm, and I said, I said, I love Nick Cary,
- 39:28Speaker 2: that's my boy.
- 39:28Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying.
- 39:29Speaker 2: But shoot, I've been I've been in settings where people
- 39:32Speaker 2: play R.
- 39:32Speaker 1: Kelly.
- 39:33Speaker 2: It's cool, not tripping, well, I play it. No, that's
- 39:36Speaker 2: just my personal thing. Everybody got their own personal thing.
- 39:38Speaker 2: I have no problem hearing R.
- 39:40Speaker 1: Kelly.
- 39:41Speaker 2: I just I'm not playing It's okay, that's just me
- 39:45Speaker 2: bro I'm cool.
- 39:46Speaker 1: And it's certain people that enjoys the music. But it's
- 39:50Speaker 1: I'm cool.
- 39:51Speaker 2: I just don't have it on my laptop to play
- 39:53Speaker 2: it for you, So don't ask me.
- 39:57Speaker 1: I think that's cat mm hmm.
- 40:00Speaker 3: Then cap, you don't have no R. Kelly in your laptop.
- 40:02Speaker 3: I don't not a feature, not a song or verse.
- 40:04Speaker 2: Nothing, something that he wrote.
- 40:06Speaker 1: Yeah, but if he's on it. No, if he's on
- 40:09Speaker 1: a song, you don't have any of your laptop. I'll
- 40:11Speaker 1: have to Yeah. I would love to search your Sorado
- 40:13Speaker 1: for the word Kelly. That's cool. It's a feature of something.
- 40:19Speaker 1: It's no way you have eradicated all our Kelly from
- 40:21Speaker 1: your Sorado.
- 40:22Speaker 2: Longing to take well, you just type in Kelly and
- 40:25Speaker 2: then you do control a, and then you just hit
- 40:27Speaker 2: the lead, type in Kelly, even search bar, control A delete.
- 40:34Speaker 1: Okay, you call it CAP.
- 40:36Speaker 2: I have my laptop, get it.
- 40:38Speaker 1: No, man, we have five minutes left. We could do
- 40:43Speaker 1: some BTS though I have my laptop. It's actually with
- 40:46Speaker 1: DJing today, yo head. Would you would you ever consider
- 40:49Speaker 1: going back to radio? I'll do radio, but serious six
- 40:55Speaker 1: M yeah, serious, but you know format radio show radio.
- 41:00Speaker 3: Yeah, I would consider it, but at this point, if
- 41:03Speaker 3: it's if it's not syndicating effective immediately with gene views
- 41:07Speaker 3: of views Mann, she fine, you're doing a great Jobews
- 41:13Speaker 3: if it's not that, I'm hold your own too.
- 41:15Speaker 4: I like that.
- 41:15Speaker 1: I'm not interested. I just there's nothing there for me
- 41:20Speaker 1: outside of what I'm doing.
- 41:22Speaker 4: So with the state of radio in l A, how
- 41:26Speaker 4: do you how do you feel, like, how do you
- 41:28Speaker 4: feel about how that's transitioning?
- 41:31Speaker 1: I mean the state of radios.
- 41:32Speaker 3: I mean radio is always going to be a loving
- 41:34Speaker 3: me so I'm not I don't have anything negative to
- 41:36Speaker 3: say about it, but I think like the state of
- 41:39Speaker 3: it is always in crisis because the way that radio
- 41:42Speaker 3: is done is traditionally archaic.
- 41:44Speaker 1: To me, it's just antiquated.
- 41:46Speaker 3: It's it's no innovation, it's no you gotta think about it,
- 41:50Speaker 3: like even right now. Three ways that radio used to
- 41:52Speaker 3: lead in culture, concerts, records, and personalities. All the biggest
- 41:59Speaker 3: personalities got on ship right, our biggest concerts for festivals,
- 42:03Speaker 3: now records. Everybody get the record at nine o'clock or
- 42:07Speaker 3: midnight out here, so radio is.
- 42:10Speaker 1: Not doing anything.
- 42:11Speaker 2: It's nine o'clock, there, is it not?
- 42:12Speaker 1: Yea, we get the regular Yeah, we get it midnight,
- 42:15Speaker 1: we get the record at nine.
- 42:16Speaker 2: So y'all get it first.
- 42:17Speaker 1: Technically it's the same same time. It's just different time.
- 42:21Speaker 1: Time works.
- 42:27Speaker 2: Brain freeze, yeah, brain freeze.
- 42:30Speaker 1: I forgot in the three ways that radio was radio
- 42:34Speaker 1: to charge. It doesn't. It doesn't take the lead anymore.
- 42:36Speaker 1: So I would love to change.
- 42:38Speaker 2: Those because radio used to be the only source spoil
- 42:40Speaker 2: for a very long time.
- 42:41Speaker 3: I like the Internet for a level in the plane,
- 42:43Speaker 3: the playing field. But at the same time, radio has
- 42:46Speaker 3: to adapt to the times, not the other way around.
- 42:48Speaker 1: I always said that we have to go to where
- 42:50Speaker 1: the people are. You got to meet people where they are,
- 42:52Speaker 1: because before I can't expect people to come to you.
- 42:54Speaker 1: Before it used to be newspaper, television, radio, that's it,
- 42:59Speaker 1: that's it. And then technology took over. If it ain't
- 43:04Speaker 1: on this right here.
- 43:04Speaker 3: Now everybody got an app, everybody got extremely service. I
- 43:09Speaker 3: just think that right now is the well Rail missed it.
- 43:14Speaker 3: But there's a point in time where it's gonna be
- 43:16Speaker 3: too late.
- 43:18Speaker 2: I just think something's gonna buy radio and it's gonna
- 43:20Speaker 2: be a big.
- 43:20Speaker 1: Merge one day. I see Amazon buying.
- 43:22Speaker 3: iHeart I see Serious Cyrus whatever, Serious buy what radio buying?
- 43:28Speaker 1: What radio?
- 43:29Speaker 2: It's gonna be some type of merger.
- 43:31Speaker 1: I think Serious is. I think Serious is that Apple Music.
- 43:34Speaker 2: Something's gonna happen where.
- 43:37Speaker 4: Well, yeah, Apple have they own radio now they don't,
- 43:39Speaker 4: But I think I think what Serious XM is doing.
- 43:41Speaker 4: What they did with Alex Cooper is something that I
- 43:44Speaker 4: feel like is a game changes. So Alex Cooper has
- 43:47Speaker 4: a podcast to call it Daddy Podcast. Uh. They gave
- 43:50Speaker 4: her one hundred million dollars to acquire her podcast to
- 43:54Speaker 4: be you know, to have them to you know, be
- 43:57Speaker 4: the new house for it.
- 43:58Speaker 3: But it's just distribution at that point. But radio is
- 44:00Speaker 3: never going to go in here because it's the free
- 44:01Speaker 3: medium media. And every time you have a free medium,
- 44:04Speaker 3: it's always going how do.
- 44:05Speaker 2: You make it entertaining enough to get more listeners?
- 44:08Speaker 1: Though?
- 44:09Speaker 3: I think the people in power, the people in power
- 44:12Speaker 3: need to get innovative and stop being afraid of change
- 44:15Speaker 3: before a check.
- 44:18Speaker 1: Like everybody. Everybody is a survival mode. I get it.
- 44:21Speaker 1: But at the same time, you evolve or die, and
- 44:23Speaker 1: I think it evolve. I think.
- 44:26Speaker 3: I think the lack of innovation is where you go
- 44:28Speaker 3: to die. Like for me, I always like for me,
- 44:31Speaker 3: I always make people make a decision. I fuck with
- 44:33Speaker 3: him or don't fuck with him, because indifference is where
- 44:35Speaker 3: you go to die. It's like, oh, he cool. I
- 44:38Speaker 3: never want to be all he cool. I either want
- 44:40Speaker 3: you to fuck with me or don't fuck with me.
- 44:42Speaker 3: Either way, I got some I gotta positive just some science.
- 44:44Speaker 3: But I got a positive charge or negative charge. I
- 44:47Speaker 3: need approachon or new trying to facts one of the two.
- 44:53Speaker 2: All right, well, listen, man, we appreciate you pulling up
- 44:55Speaker 2: on his brother Lakers and seven Lakers and seven before
- 44:58Speaker 2: we go yeah, it's alway went wait when this episode, yeah, yeah,
- 45:01Speaker 2: this episode comes out before.
- 45:02Speaker 4: Because you said you said off camera, you said you
- 45:04Speaker 4: made a certain prediction, and you said this prediction is
- 45:07Speaker 4: gonna be accurate as well.
