Latest / Kenny Wallace Media / The Latest Drama From The NASCAR Trial | Kenny Wallace Show
Transcript
- 0:00All right, Kenny Wallace, we are live on the Kenny Wallace
- 0:03YouTube channel. We're really testing.
- 0:06We're testing for this big open house you have tomorrow with
- 0:08Kelly Shyrock. You're going to have what you
- 0:10think, hundreds of people here. Hundreds.
- 0:12You know Charlie, I think we'll have hundreds of people and I'm
- 0:15excited for Kelly Shyrock. He is a well known, successful
- 0:20dart racer and I'm happy you're testing because I want to make
- 0:22sure everything goes good. So everything I think sounds
- 0:26good, looks good. Tomorrow we'll have a light so
- 0:28people don't complain. We'll have a light tomorrow.
- 0:30This is really just a test. But we feel like since we're
- 0:32here, we might as well talk about the biggest story, not
- 0:36just in NASCAR, maybe in NASCAR history.
- 0:39This trial is insane. And yesterday, the Kenny Wallace
- 0:44Show was was on the mainstage in the cross examination of Denny
- 0:50Hamlin. How crazy is that?
- 0:52Charlie, it it it it's so crazy that it goes so far back.
- 0:57I'll never forget the day that you said, hey, I'm starting a
- 1:00podcast too. For us.
- 1:02We're going to be on the YouTube, but you wanted to start
- 1:05a podcast, so you named it Kenny Wallace Media.
- 1:08So between Jeff Gordon, you know, saying Kenny Wallace Media
- 1:13and now the what, the second biggest thing in NASCAR history
- 1:18first would have been Dale Senior passing away.
- 1:21But them saying our name, what the second day starting out I'm
- 1:25like, Oh my God, Schrader called me.
- 1:28I mean, it's, it's been insane. The funny part about that is so
- 1:32when I'm seeing all the tweets yesterday from NASCAR reporters
- 1:36I put out there, first I said specifically tell me what was
- 1:38said and then a bunch of people tweeted it.
- 1:41So I went back and looked. So that Denny Hamlin
- 1:43conversation was, I believe July 10th of 2024.
- 1:47So basically a year and a half ago, it was a 90 minute
- 1:50conversation. There was 16 minutes where you
- 1:54guys are talking about the charter.
- 1:55So people watching can go watch the whole 90 minutes if you want
- 1:58the 16 minutes about the charters.
- 2:00But this is also before the lawsuit.
- 2:03And I chuckled because you basically said, you said now
- 2:06we're not going to get Denny Hamlin in trouble and it wasn't
- 2:09your fault. It wasn't his fault.
- 2:11But I found that funny because a year and a half later, here it
- 2:14is being used in the freaking cross examination at the biggest
- 2:18trial in NASCAR history. And he didn't say anything
- 2:22wrong. All Denny did was brag on NASCAR
- 2:26and now NASCAR is coming back going you like NASCAR because
- 2:30you said it on the Kenny Wallace show.
- 2:32I'm like, first of all, it was Kenny conversation.
- 2:35But yeah, so it it's it's basically they're trying to say
- 2:40you bragged on NASCAR. You said that the Next Gen. car
- 2:43was a good way to get into the sport.
- 2:46Course. Danny comes back, you know, in
- 2:48the trial and goes, look, I was trying to promote the sport.
- 2:52And then, you know, here we are two years later and it didn't
- 2:55get any better. And yes, I said that, but I said
- 2:57that trying to paint a good picture of NASCAR.
- 3:00So I think, I think we're off the hook.
- 3:04We we, we didn't say we didn't do nothing wrong.
- 3:07You should never brag on NASCAR. It it wasn't your fault.
- 3:11And then today we made a short of this, but you had a great
- 3:14take on the fact that NASCAR was going after Denny Hamlin and
- 3:19saying, hey, you make $14 million a year.
- 3:22And then Denny had just the perfect response, which was a
- 3:25not, not all these guys win as much as me, which is it's the
- 3:28perfect response. Oh well, because basically I, I,
- 3:32I understand what was going on, right?
- 3:34But when we do coffee with Kenny, we don't have time to
- 3:38dive deep into it, you know, because the fans don't like
- 3:41coffee with Kenny real long here.
- 3:43We can go into it. I understand NASCAR was trying
- 3:46to say you make plenty of money. Why do you want more money?
- 3:50That wasn't the point. The point was you make
- 3:5414,000,000 a year. And, and, you know, Danny was
- 3:58perfect, but he should have said it's because I went a lot and I
- 4:01earn it. And yeah, I thought it was
- 4:04embarrassing because it was also saying you're making too much
- 4:09money. And in the meantime, over here
- 4:11in Formula One, you know, Max Verstappen's making 65 million,
- 4:17Lewis Hamilton's making 60. And what, Charlie, you know all
- 4:21about baseball. What's a What's a a good
- 4:23baseball pitcher making right now?
- 4:25Well, you said, you know, 25 to 30 million for a, for a good
- 4:28starting pitcher, that's what they're going to make.
- 4:31And then so Shohei Otani is a Unicorn being able to pitch and
- 4:35hit. He's making like $70 million per
- 4:39year. Now a ton of that's deferred.
- 4:41I think he's only actually making 2,000,000.
- 4:43No, I think it's actually $2,000,000.
- 4:46And then like, so we're talking 680 deferred, $1,000,000.
- 4:50But but basically he's still making $70 million per year.
- 4:54And you made a great point. Look and and Shohei Otani might
- 4:58be the best baseball player in the history of baseball.
- 5:00But still he throws the ball, he throws the.
- 5:01Ball and NASCAR drivers are putting their their life's,
- 5:06their, their bodies, their brains on the line every single
- 5:09day. Yeah, I just really think it's a
- 5:11bad deal to dumb NASCAR down. It's it's OK to say, hey, look,
- 5:16each team should probably not spend over 10 million a year.
- 5:20That's fine. But don't limit a player or a a
- 5:24an athlete. That's like saying Michael
- 5:26Jordan doesn't deserve what he's making.
- 5:28I mean, Denny Hamlin is the winningest driver.
- 5:31He's got 60 NASCAR wins. He won six races this year.
- 5:35Always give somebody a care, right?
- 5:38It's kind. It's kind of like anything in
- 5:40life. If you do better, you get more.
- 5:42I don't like it when people try to dumb down what what sports is
- 5:47all about. And I want to get your take on
- 5:50the trial so far. To me, though, maybe the biggest
- 5:54thing that's happened happened before the trial when it was
- 5:57last I believe Friday, Thursday or Friday, those leaked, those
- 6:02leaked texts and messages. I thought now and we'll, we'll
- 6:06go both sides here, but I thought the most damning thing
- 6:08that's happened to NASCAR since this has started was when we
- 6:13heard what Steve Phelps said about Richard Childress.
- 6:17And I've heard a lot of fans in the comments section respond
- 6:20here. You know this, there are a lot
- 6:21of fans who who have thought over the years that NASCAR,
- 6:25maybe some of the execs, the suits look at them as rednecks
- 6:29and hey, we left the South. We're going to the West Coast,
- 6:31we're going to the big cities, we're going to Chicago, which I
- 6:34think Chicago's a great race. But just big picture, like these
- 6:37fans thought that NASCAR looked at them as rednecks.
- 6:40Well, then when you see it actually released that they
- 6:43think, I mean, what is Richard Childress?
- 6:45Is he 80 years old? He's been in a sport for 60
- 6:48years. He was a driver, he was an
- 6:50owner, he owned Dale Earnhardt Senior's car.
- 6:52For them to talk about him like that, I think that's been the
- 6:56most damning thing that's come out against NASCAR in this whole
- 6:58deal. No doubt in my mind you're
- 7:01exactly right. And it reminds me, listen, I'm a
- 7:03lot older than you, but I I'm sure you remember as a kid,
- 7:06maybe I don't even know if you were born, but in the early 80s,
- 7:09you know, Major League Baseball, the players went on strike and
- 7:12it took forever for us to get the fans back in the
- 7:15grandstands. The fans were so mad.
- 7:18They didn't, they didn't come to the ballpark.
- 7:20That's that's what I'm worried about, Charlie.
- 7:23I'm worried about our fans not forgiving the NASCAR executives
- 7:29because when you hear the executives go Richard Childress
- 7:34is a redneck, he needs to be taken Outback and flogged, which
- 7:38is which is unbelievable. I mean, me, I am a redneck and
- 7:42I'll just say I'll beat your ass.
- 7:44But flogged means tortured and and, you know, just beat the
- 7:48hell out of. I think of Jesus when I think of
- 7:51that, right? That's what that's what I think
- 7:53is the passion of the Christ. That's what I flogged means.
- 7:56Just obliterated, you know, physically.
- 7:59So when you see the president at that time, Steve Phelps was the
- 8:03president at that time and all. Let me tell you one thing.
- 8:07If anybody's ever learned anything out of this is that
- 8:10don't take no naked pictures of your wife because he's going to,
- 8:15they're going to come. They're going to find it.
- 8:17It you know, anything you use on this damn cell phone or this
- 8:22computer that we're doing this off of what you know, for all of
- 8:26us to think, man, we ain't nobody going to find this out it
- 8:30it all what do they say? It just lives online And and I
- 8:32want to say this yesterday during Denny Hamlin's, you know,
- 8:37he was on trial yesterday, Denny Hamlin, he was tutored because
- 8:42he kept saying documents don't lie.
- 8:46Documents don't lie, documents don't lie.
- 8:49So what has gotten NASCAR in trouble is people saying stuff,
- 8:55and it's printed. Yeah, and and that's where I do
- 8:58want to give NASCAR some slack. And also even the Denny, the
- 9:02Denny Hamlin, the owners of 2311 that called Denny Hamlin a
- 9:05child. We all talk differently in text.
- 9:09A lot of people talk behind people's back.
- 9:11So all I'm saying is if if you got into everybody's text and
- 9:15group chats, a lot of us would be in really bad shape.
- 9:19So I do. I do want to say that because.
- 9:21Families would be in bad. Shape if they got my group text
- 9:24from my college friends, we'd we'd all be done.
- 9:27So I do want to say like people do talk differently.
- 9:30I'm not saying it's right, but I think a lot of us let's let's
- 9:33also worry about our own backyards first because a lot of
- 9:37us would be guilty of that. Too.
- 9:38No, there's no doubt. And and and and with that,
- 9:40that's a perfect segue for me to say this.
- 9:43And I mean this from the bottom of my heart, this shop is all
- 9:47about NASCAR. Even though it is a dirt racing
- 9:49shop, 90% of this shop is all dirt racing.
- 9:53I'm a dirt racer through and through.
- 9:55But I'm going to move my head. This right here, Charlie, that's
- 9:59all NASCAR. Yes, Sir.
- 10:00And I love NASCAR and it hurts my heart to see this new regime.
- 10:06You know, I was ruled and I said this on a on a, on a, on that,
- 10:10that night that we, you had me do a special segment that night.
- 10:16I grew, I grew up with Bill Franz Junior.
- 10:19He he'd have a Bill Franz Junior, the president.
- 10:22He had a beer here and a cigarette here and he'd go,
- 10:25Wallace, you're in trouble, boy. And like, damn.
- 10:29Now these guys just talk behind your back.
- 10:32And I just want to make it clear that when I was in NASCAR, you
- 10:37knew where you stood. We had we had dictators.
- 10:40They they ruled man and we were fine with it.
- 10:43We were fine with it. It was great.
- 10:45We I love NASCAR. However, do do I want to see
- 10:50Michael Jordan and den Hamlin sue NASCAR?
- 10:53Absolutely not. I don't want to see this.
- 10:55It's messy. It's embarrassing.
- 10:57That's the word I hear from all my NASCAR friends.
- 10:59This is embarrassing. So.
- 11:02See, I actually don't see it like that.
- 11:04And and maybe I'm an optimist. I want to hear, but I.
- 11:08Also, you know, I I love NASCAR too now I've only really been
- 11:12following it really close every day for four years, but I
- 11:14covered a lot of NASCAR when I was working in Lansing, MI O six
- 11:19O 7. But I feel like I've covered so
- 11:22many strikes and lockouts. Good point.
- 11:25NFL, there was one about what I think it was about 10-12 years.
- 11:29Ago I remember that. Baseball had just just a year
- 11:32and a half ago coming off COVID, right, They had they had a
- 11:35lockout. The NHL has had two, I believe
- 11:38in the last 1520 years. And then of course, you brought
- 11:41up the the baseball 1. I think that was 80 or 81.
- 11:43But then of course the 94.1 is the one I remember as a 12 year
- 11:47old. So I just think this is NASCAR's
- 11:50first big serious labor issue. I just read a lot of people
- 11:55saying, oh, the sport will never survive and will we be at the
- 11:58Daytona 500? And I think, don't get me wrong,
- 12:00this is embarrassing, but like, I think we're still going to
- 12:03have NASCAR and I even think win, lose or draw, I think
- 12:06they're going to find a way to keep Michael Jordan in the
- 12:08sport. I I think some money's going to
- 12:10change hand, right? Like either NASCAR is going to
- 12:12keep the money they're making or the teams are going to get more.
- 12:16But I guess I don't have this fatalistic look like NASCAR will
- 12:20never be the same. They're at the end of the day,
- 12:23Kenny, you know this. They're just fighting over
- 12:24dollars. Yeah, right.
- 12:26Yeah. And and I would, I want to
- 12:28respond to something and I I see it on our timeline here.
- 12:34Everybody's right. Dictatorship does not work
- 12:36anymore, but tough love does. I feel like when I said the
- 12:43other night, I feel like NASCAR should probably sell.
- 12:46It's become bigger than a family run business.
- 12:48I agree with that. And let's be honest, NASCAR is a
- 12:51family run business. When and I say you look at
- 12:54Formula One, it's owned by Liberty Media Group, You look at
- 12:57IndyCar, Rodger, Penske sold 1/3 to Fox, you know my boss when I
- 13:05was doing TV air Shanks. I mean, so big racing
- 13:09organizations and I understand NASCAR is not like anything
- 13:13else. I get all that.
- 13:14However, you're right, it's not we can't do a dictatorship
- 13:18anymore. Those days are gone, but we
- 13:22can't do like we used to do. And and inevitably, I'm going to
- 13:26say one last thing. That's what got NASCAR in
- 13:28trouble. It's almost like they were
- 13:30trying to be nice. OK, let let us give your charter
- 13:32system. Let us give you something.
- 13:34Give them an inch. Give them an inch.
- 13:36So if NASCAR would have stayed a dictatorship, if they were to
- 13:41say nobody gets a charter, that's the way it is, none of
- 13:45this would have happened. Yeah, so, so NASCAR messed up by
- 13:50trying to come up in the new world and say, let's start a
- 13:53charter, you know, like the Saint Louis Cardinals, you know,
- 13:58Cincinnati Bengals in football and, and those owners own those.
- 14:04And in NASCAR, you might own a team, but you can immediately
- 14:08fall out. Now if they want to fall out,
- 14:10they can sell their charter and they have something.
- 14:13Yeah, and I, I don't want people to also think that I'm anti
- 14:17NASCAR. No, you've seen it all.
- 14:20You've seen it. All but what you said I I think
- 14:22two things can be true at the same time.
- 14:24You can give the France family all of the credit in the world
- 14:28for building an amazing. Amazing.
- 14:31Business and running it well for 75 years, whatever it is, you
- 14:36should give the France family all the credit in the world.
- 14:39So I'm saying that, but I'm also saying in 2025, should the
- 14:43greatest stock car series in in America and the world still be a
- 14:48family run business? The answer to that is probably
- 14:51no, while still giving the France family all the credit in
- 14:55the world for what they built. And I'm not saying you take
- 14:58their money. But again, is it a league type
- 15:00situation like the NFL where again owners have a have a piece
- 15:05of the pie and the France family has a piece of the pie or a
- 15:08media company like you said has a piece of the pie?
- 15:10I. I.
- 15:11Just we're going to see yeah, we're going to see I want to go
- 15:18to something else. I'm looking at our timeline.
- 15:20Somebody says 700 views only. You got to remember everybody,
- 15:25we just we just doing this and this will live what we're doing
- 15:30right now. This will be on Yeah by the.
- 15:32Way that's that's 820 people live watching right now at 2:00
- 15:37central time. That's really good, yeah.
- 15:39So somebody said somebody's trying to demean us.
- 15:42We're first of all, we're bad asses.
- 15:44We're awesome. And I mean, that's just the way
- 15:46it is. We're awesome.
- 15:47I can test this real. Quick, let's see how many people
- 15:49have watched. But let let me.
- 15:50Say this everybody, this will be this will be up here for the
- 15:56rest of its life. So it might be only 800 people
- 15:59watching right now. That's a lot.
- 16:01But yeah. And and so this will be viewed
- 16:04over and over and over. So don't try to come on us like
- 16:07we're not doing good enough. We're big time.
- 16:09That's right. And look. 2000 people, 2000
- 16:12people have been watching. We're only 60 minutes in.
- 16:16Don't listen to those people because 821 people watching live
- 16:20when when it's the work day and we just did this as a test.
- 16:25We had no lighting. This was more a test for
- 16:27tomorrow. So we had to tell people
- 16:29tomorrow we'll do a live show, a live coffee with Kenny, right,
- 16:32Kelly Shyrock at about what time?
- 16:35So we're going to here's. Here's what we'll do tomorrow.
- 16:38I'm thinking on the fly right now.
- 16:41Kelly Shyrock, nine time US MTS champion, he won the stock car
- 16:45championship this year. He's admired by everybody in the
- 16:49racing community. I told Kelly be here around 9:30
- 16:53so maybe we can get going 93010 o'clock it.
- 16:56It's kind of like, you know, it's like what time do you get
- 16:59up? And I don't want, I don't want
- 17:01the open house tomorrow to be work.
- 17:03I want people to come here when they feel good.
- 17:05But but we're going to go 9:00 to 1:00 tomorrow for the open
- 17:09house. We want where we want to go.
- 17:11One hour with Kelly. Sure.
- 17:14Yeah. And but I thought, let's end at
- 17:171:00 because the races start at 3:00 at the Dome.
- 17:21And I was being respectful. I want people to get out of here
- 17:23at one, get on down to the Dome. And I want to thank you for
- 17:27doing this, Charlie, because I asked Charlie said, Charlie, I
- 17:29need help. Can we do a coffee with Kenny?
- 17:33And. And so you're making it work.
- 17:35And this is a test, and this is the way it's going to look
- 17:37tomorrow, except there'll be hundreds of people back here and
- 17:40we'll get somebody there. Look at David.
- 17:42Alvarez giving us 5 bucks. David, thank.
- 17:44You buddy. Hey, that's about what I just
- 17:47got done paying for this at Mobile One.
- 17:48That's right. I paid like $4.00.
- 17:50You know, I got done eating lunch like 11:30 because I had a
- 17:53lot to do and I went to Mobile One I and it's like $4.70.
- 17:58Love it. Awesome.
- 18:00Yeah, so. Today, Charlie, I have been
- 18:03following up the trial. The NASCAR trial is not as
- 18:07exciting today because they didn't mention.
- 18:09You well, they're they're. They're just drilling both
- 18:12sides. Jeffrey Kessler, who is Michael
- 18:15Jordan's attorney, they're drilling this Scott Prime.
- 18:20I keep wanting to think Prime Video or something.
- 18:22I don't know what I'm thinking. But they're just they're just
- 18:25trying to get him to say NASCAR is a monopoly.
- 18:29And now later this evening, NASCAR attorneys are going to
- 18:33keep him on and try to refute that.
- 18:36So it's really about one man today.
- 18:39And let's see what what is Scott Prime's role there?
- 18:44Let's Google this and I'm going to do it old man style.
- 18:48That's right. What is?
- 18:50Scott Prime's role at NASCAR. Wait, knows that I know Scott,
- 18:56Crow says. What's his last name?
- 18:58Scott what? Prime.
- 19:00Prime, OK, here we go AI, here he goes.
- 19:05Scott Prime's role at NASCAR is Executive Vice President and
- 19:09Chief Strategy Officer where he is responsible for long term
- 19:14planning for the organization. In this position he overseas
- 19:18strategic initiatives including work related to the charter
- 19:22system and agreements with tracks.
- 19:25So there you go. And so Michael Jordan's attorney
- 19:30is trying to get Scott Prime to admit that they deal in a
- 19:36monopolistic way. So they're just they're pounding
- 19:38this guy today. And it is exciting, but it's
- 19:43maybe not as exciting to explain to everybody.
- 19:46And look at this now. We're going to have a contest.
- 19:49See, the last guy gave us $4.99 and then DC Long gives us $5,
- 19:54says Herman. Don't, Don't let your meatloaf.
- 19:56OK? That's funny.
- 19:58So it it's sexual, so here but but, but here's what it's about.
- 20:03Valley Park of Missouri. Rusty used to say Herman, go
- 20:07over to Charlie's Charlie's Cafe.
- 20:09I'd go and his wife's name was Val Jean.
- 20:12Well, I would go over and I'd say, you know, 3 cheeseburgers,
- 20:163 fries, 3 Cokes, cheeseburger for Rusty, cheeseburger for Paul
- 20:20Andrews and me. And, you know, remember, Paul
- 20:23Anders went on to be Alan Quickies, you know, championship
- 20:26winning crew chief. We're over here in Valley Park,
- 20:29MO, in Val Jean. I loved her.
- 20:32She was, she was rough around the edges.
- 20:35And she would say things like this.
- 20:37I'd get ready to leave and she'd go Herman, I'd say, yeah, Val
- 20:40Jean. She said don't let your
- 20:42meatloaf. And that's from a lady that's
- 20:47from old Val Jean Soap. See, I thought the joke.
- 20:49Was going to be Val Jean. There's a way you could make
- 20:52that a job. That's where I thought you were
- 20:53going. Yeah, but.
- 20:55But we we miss Charlie and Val Jean and but that is a very
- 21:00pivotal point in Rusty's career. That was on Saint Louis Ave. you
- 21:05know, and, and, you know, listen, 100 years ago, Valley
- 21:09Park was, you know, a lot of flats, but then it became very
- 21:13commercialized. Ashland Chemical Company and a
- 21:17lot of businesses. So Valley Park is a very strange
- 21:22town because you can have people living right here.
- 21:25And I mean literally right across the street is Ashland
- 21:27Chemical Company or Rossy Wallace Racing.
- 21:31And it was a wonderful little town.
- 21:33And that's the area we grew up in.
- 21:36We didn't grow up in there. That was where our race shops
- 21:38are. But yeah, shout out to Val Jean.
- 21:42She's part of my my childhood DC long.
- 21:44He says also Charlie Rock. You're awesome bro.
- 21:47Thanks fellas. American flag.
- 21:49And he is. Charlie is awesome and all that.
- 21:51Hey, how about your, how about your Buckeyes?
- 21:53They beat Michigan, Ohio guy. Hey, I'll tell you what.
- 21:57You know we're going to go. My brothers and I, we still
- 21:59might go to the Big 10 championship game in
- 22:01Indianapolis. We used to go every year, but
- 22:03then Michigan won like 4 years in a row.
- 22:06The tickets we used to just get in the building, we'd want to
- 22:09pay you know what, 8090 a 100 bucks, $450 right now is the
- 22:14cheapest ticket to get in the building and it's because
- 22:17Indiana's playing and it's in Indianapolis.
- 22:19But $452. I look today on game time.
- 22:24You you sponsor of ours, you said something.
- 22:26That I want to share yeah, I, I want to share this with
- 22:28everybody. So you know, we're we're living
- 22:29right here in we're in Arnold, MO and we can go not ten miles
- 22:34and we're in Illinois. You said something to me.
- 22:38I said, boy, Charlie, you love Ohio and you said, but Herman,
- 22:42like right down the road was the Michigan border from my house.
- 22:46So I was, I was like 500 yards. I'm from Toledo, so the end of
- 22:50my street, probably 500 yards was the Michigan line.
- 22:52What was that like? It was cool, I mean.
- 22:55Like you didn't look at it as anything different because like
- 22:59we had a team, a school called Bedford that was in our
- 23:02conference in high school that we play.
- 23:04So it was like 8 Ohio teams, one Michigan team.
- 23:07The golf course that I'd always go to as a kid in the batting
- 23:10cage was in Michigan. Like you would ride your bikes
- 23:12into Michigan. So you really didn't think it
- 23:13was that big of a deal? And, and what's funny is like
- 23:17from here we go across the river in Illinois, you go up to
- 23:21Springfield, IL and maybe they start changing into Cubs fans,
- 23:26But between here and Springfield, IL, there's still
- 23:28Cardinal fans for sure. I, I think it works good.
- 23:33I think we're ready for tomorrow.
- 23:34I said, well, I have my coffee mug right here.
- 23:36And somebody said. Make sure you have your sticker.
- 23:37They didn't like that you didn't have the Oh yeah on the hey on
- 23:41the. Cup Listen everybody, I want to
- 23:43thank you all for watching, but I am.
- 23:46It is sad to say there is about 3 of me there.
- 23:49There's coffee with Kenny and I do mess my hair up on purpose
- 23:53for coffee with Kenny and here's why.
- 23:56Because Donna Snake Predome Perdom set up, you know, one of
- 23:59the like the third greatest drag racer of all time.
- 24:02First is big Daddy Don Garlets and then, well, I would say, I
- 24:08would say be between the snake and and John Force.
- 24:13But Perdom goes, Herman, I say yes, snake.
- 24:17He goes, man, I love it when you're on that damn on that
- 24:20couch with glasses all messed up.
- 24:22Your hair's all up there. I said you like it when my
- 24:25hair's messed up. So sorry my hair is normal right
- 24:29now, but we do you all like it so much.
- 24:34So you you always comment that my hair is messed up and what
- 24:38else? Oh and the coffee mug up here.
- 24:40So I just, I just play to it. I just mess my hair up more and
- 24:44hold my coffee mug up more than. Then there's Kenny conversation
- 24:50where I'm very serious and that really messes people up.
- 24:52Why is Wallace so serious? Well, he's so.
- 24:54Serious. He's, he's being brought up in
- 24:56court then. There's the guy in the shop.
- 24:58So anyway, there is a Schrader said to me, Herman, you say
- 25:01there's three of you. What are they?
- 25:02I say Schrader. There is Kenny Wallace, like
- 25:06like the guy this is this is most likely the real me right
- 25:09here. That's right.
- 25:11And then? I would say, you know, I'm
- 25:12that's equal to the the husband, the the father, the.
- 25:18Poppy, yeah. Yeah.
- 25:20And thank you, David. Again though, and I think
- 25:22there's. The entertainer and then there's
- 25:23the racer. When I go into the when I go
- 25:26into the pits, that that's an issue.
- 25:28I do have Charlie is it's my issue, though.
- 25:31When I go into the pits, the people still want to go.
- 25:33Hey Wallace, I'm like, but that's I'm racing.
- 25:38That's for the show. OK.
- 25:40So you're at work at that? Point Right.
- 25:42You're locked in. Yeah, I can't I.
- 25:43Mean I've won a lot of races. You don't win those races in
- 25:46your race car going So when we when we go through the pit gate,
- 25:51we're like this right here. And so that's kind of fun to
- 25:56tell everybody that little story right there.
- 25:58But you said to me, you said, Herman, coffee with Kenny is our
- 26:06bread and butter. It's our foundation.
- 26:08I would have. Ever thought that's?
- 26:10What, you know what I love about it, What I love about it is
- 26:12because I compare, I compare the other Youtubers and people who
- 26:16do NASCAR, and I just think it's funny sometimes.
- 26:18And look, we got a nice setup, We'll get the light, we got the
- 26:21mics. But I do think it's funny
- 26:22sometimes that you'll get more views in your Christmas pyjamas
- 26:26with the hair going nuts with the coffee cup, with no
- 26:30microphone on the couch as some of the big studio shows and all
- 26:34that. Oh my God, Charlie.
- 26:36I love that. You have no idea how many times
- 26:39I think about that. This thing is unbelievable, It
- 26:44really is. I mean, really.
- 26:45I'm not joking. This thing's unbelievable.
- 26:47You know, one of our very first deals we ever did, I was down at
- 26:51the Mexican border and I did everything like with this.
- 26:54And when I, when you edit that up, I looked at it, I thought it
- 26:58was one of those $100,000 cameras.
- 27:02This thing is so amazing, but you got to use it purposely.
- 27:06It's got to be good content. You just can't throw crap out
- 27:09there. And you know, you were the one
- 27:12that said to me when we were trying to figure out what we're
- 27:15doing, you said, Herman, I think they just want to hear you talk
- 27:19about the NASCAR controversy. And you were right.
- 27:23Because I go down to the mobile one down here and gas up or
- 27:25whatever it was and people would stop me.
- 27:28Charlie, no different about Cardinals.
- 27:31What, you know, what do we say around here?
- 27:33What's wrong with the Cardinals? I mean not.
- 27:35What's right with the Cardinals? It's not about who won the race.
- 27:38It's about who wrecked and who fought and who screwed up.
- 27:41Yeah, yeah. I mean.
- 27:42I mean, they they hated Jimmy Johnson, they hate Denny Hamlin.
- 27:46What what's the common theme here?
- 27:48They don't like winners, they don't like people winning.
- 27:51How are these or at? Least they like watching the
- 27:55negative. I don't think people are as
- 27:57negative, but they like watching the negative, you know what I'm
- 28:00saying? Yeah.
- 28:01What? What is that?
- 28:02Why? I mean controversy.
- 28:04Sells, but do you? Think it it it hits closer to
- 28:07home like if you're struggling and and Carson Hosovar
- 28:11struggling, do you like Carson now because he bought Also the
- 28:15old Carson Hovar is an interesting study because he
- 28:19wrecks everybody and I like Carson, but I think more people
- 28:24like Carson Hosabar. Well, Denny Hanlon's just he's
- 28:27super famous. He's through the moon.
- 28:30They're also. Interesting.
- 28:31It's not to me. Denny Hamlin is a great race car
- 28:33driver. I want him to win the
- 28:35championship. And I mean, look at what's going
- 28:38on right now with the lawsuit. He is the most interesting man
- 28:41in NASCAR and has been for 2-3 years.
- 28:44Ever since, Kyle Busch unfortunately hasn't been
- 28:46winning as much struggle. Sells, Yeah, good point.
- 28:49That's. Who said that?
- 28:51The fishy plumber said that good point fishing.
- 28:55Struggle sells because people, you know, I, I make a little bit
- 28:59of comedy out of this because I started winning dirt races.
- 29:03And when I started winning dirt races a while back, people would
- 29:06say the only reason you run in dirt races because you got all
- 29:10that NASCAR money. And I, I laughed and then I
- 29:14thought, you know what, I'm going to go with that.
- 29:16That sounds pretty good. Play into it.
- 29:18So. If you have a wonderful life,
- 29:21they hate you. But if you.
- 29:24Struggle, that's my man right if your.
- 29:27Dad, if your dad was successful, yeah, they had money and helped
- 29:31you and your career. And I get it a little bit.
- 29:34But no, they want, they want the grinders.
- 29:36I'm going to tell you what. I would not want to be Ty Gibbs.
- 29:39I don't want to be Ty Dillon. They ain't got a shot in hell
- 29:42because everybody hates them because their family got money.
- 29:45But but you know what I said to you?
- 29:46How about? How about this?
- 29:47Though, just just to just to debate a little bit, I think Ty
- 29:50Gibbs brings a lot of it on himself with his with his
- 29:54attitude. Like Ryan Blaney, for example.
- 29:57Nobody looks at Ryan Blaney as this silver spoon son of a
- 30:01driver because he's just a great funny, down to earth guy.
- 30:05Everybody loves him. Like that narrative that I feel
- 30:07like follows a lot of sons of drivers for whatever reason.
- 30:10Am I wrong? I feel like Ryan Blaney is not
- 30:12brought up in that fashion. No.
- 30:13And and you? Bring up a good point, Ty.
- 30:16Ty is very nice to me and if I was to sit down with Ty, I would
- 30:21put my arm around and go. Ty, look, I love you buddy, but
- 30:24your little bougie you, you got the perfect tennis shoes on.
- 30:28You got that college thing going on where everything you're
- 30:30wearing is beautiful and perfect.
- 30:32Grow a beard. Dress a little.
- 30:34Bit like Blaney look like shit a little bit.
- 30:37Yeah, you're right. You know, it's kind of like the
- 30:39beautiful people. The beautiful people.
- 30:43Yeah. I love it.
- 30:44Are we good? We done?
- 30:45Do you like hey? Are we OK guys?
- 30:47Will this be good for coffee? We'll have a light 31 minutes.
- 30:51Shout out to my son who's four and has been really well behaved
- 30:54and hasn't really talked. Hi buddy, I love you.
- 30:56You're awesome, you did. Great, buddy.
- 30:58You'll get some snacks now. Brody, you're going to.
- 30:59Have this place cleaned up for tomorrow.
- 31:02He worked. That's my son and all that is a
- 31:04bad son of a bitch. Wave wave Brody, there he is.
- 31:08Brody can do anything. People are admire him.
- 31:12They're we're an all he can fabricate anything.
- 31:15He started shop kennywallace.com.
- 31:18Now my son's coming. Over.
- 31:19Look at this. I moved my head so we had the
- 31:21Jags. Look at that.
- 31:22You can see the Jags, the whole video.
- 31:24All right, my son's going nuts now.
- 31:25Do you want to say hi real quick?
- 31:26Here we go. Four years.
- 31:28Old. He's on.
- 31:29This is little Charlie. All right, you've been good.
- 31:31You've been good. All right, we'll shut her down.
- 31:34Thanks for watching everybody. Tomorrow.
- 31:36What 9:30-ish? I would, I would.
- 31:41Guess, I would guess that you're going to have this right here
- 31:44and I would think coffee with Kitty 9:30-ish.
- 31:46OK, All right. Love you.
- 31:48All thanks for watching. We'll see you and stream and
- 31:52stream.
