- 0:52here, Matt Collins, do you like stuff? Depends on whose stuff it
- 0:55is, where they're putting it. Uh, stuff, What's what's your what's
- 0:59in your life right now? What's going on? What's your favorite thing at
- 1:00the moment that what? What are you hooked on? Sleep? Sleep?
- 1:03Yeah, sleeps a big thing. I'm not getting much of it at the
- 1:04moment keeping warm. It's just been hard this week for me in particularly because
- 1:07a balancing life with kids and whatnot. And we're going on our holiday next
- 1:11week, and you're going to the holiday week after, which means we're recording
- 1:15three weeks worth of content in the space of a week. I'm therefore going
- 1:18to try and edit as much as I can. I'm gonna be editing as
- 1:21well on our holiday, so we're gonna get a holiday. I don't know,
- 1:23that's the thing. So, yeah, Dano's doing all that, and
- 1:26you know, I'm just really exerting a lot of the energy feeling sorry for
- 1:30him. I feel like lately from you, Oh, I've been seeing a
- 1:34lot of my bad to get a performance review no from you, from your
- 1:37social media post and I feel like in a state of live life to its
- 1:41fullest kind of vibe from you. Yeah, you posted yesterday you realize you
- 1:44have two lives. You have two lives. The second begins when you realize
- 1:48you only have one. Yeah, So I feel like you're in a state
- 1:49of like, I'm gonna start living life to the fullest. Maybe, Like
- 1:52what's what's going on? Yeah, I don't know. I mean I just
- 1:55sort of came across that palm that resonates. Yeah, because you've mentioned a
- 1:57couple of times on the podcast this week, the whole the new mantra that
- 2:02you have that you're living by. Oh, yes, that being alive is
- 2:06as a special occasion as it gets. Yeah. So you got a nice
- 2:09bottle of whiskey, crack the lid on it, have a sip. Everyone,
- 2:13How have you treated yourself this week? We treat you stuff to McDonald's,
- 2:15which is unforunately, was not a treat. Yeah that was last week.
- 2:17Yeah, guys had the six months not bad, but you just prevented
- 2:22from from eating it. I will I will not eat McDonald's for a while.
- 2:24Yeah. Oh, last night we took, didn't take. But Elliott
- 2:28had his first school performance, which was great. Yeah, it was just
- 2:32I mean, I'm always proud of all yet, but just seeing him up
- 2:35on stage dancing doing this routine, I'm thinking, Hey, this is an
- 2:38actual routine. Different moves are different part of the something I think actual choreography
- 2:42and just sort of it sort of didn't just dawn on me, but there
- 2:44was moments while watching him going I created him. This is he's a little
- 2:47it's a little human. It's not just a little baby anymore. He's a
- 2:50human up on stage dancing and performing. I think that's my dude, he
- 2:53sprang from my loins. Yeah, and I will say I will say that
- 2:59if you have the chance, it's to go to your your child's school assemblies
- 3:02or performances and things like that. Always do it. Never not, because
- 3:07for these are the lessons that Lie Like and other movies have taught us.
- 3:09The last like three months, Ali always has a school assembly on a Monday,
- 3:13and they shifted every second Monday from just in the prep prep room,
- 3:16so the prep class has their own little mini assembly, and then they have
- 3:19a whole school assembly every second week. And I sometimes go to the whole
- 3:23school assemblies whatever. I've sort of missed the prep ones because my sister picks
- 3:27my not taking the barsom on Monday, so I don't usually go. And
- 3:30then he said to me on Monday morning, can you come to my assembly
- 3:34today? And I thought, oh, yeah, okay. He got to
- 3:37like two thirty. I thought, oh, well I'll go. I'll go
- 3:38check it out. Right. I get there, I'm sitting in the chair
- 3:42at the start. They go and they turn around away to the parents and
- 3:44allis they all turned around. Alix looked and he saw me there and his
- 3:47eyes lit up, and I thought, that's why you should go. Oh
- 3:51yeah, absolutely. I thought, I will make the effort every Monday now
- 3:53because I can. I just felt bad the last three months he's been turning
- 3:57around waving to everyone else's parents. No good, every other parents. Chard's
- 4:00parents were there. But I just saw the he became a whole new kid.
- 4:04It was like he sat up straight and he smiled and he waved,
- 4:06and I thought, Okay, I'll make the effort now. Yeah, I
- 4:09mean, it really does make a difference in a lot of ways. Look,
- 4:13I'm not gonna get all daddy wasn't there anything like that. But I
- 4:15mean Bobby when I was growing up, not that he was like, oh
- 4:19I'm not I'm definitely not going to the school things. Yeah, not definitely
- 4:23not going to school things. I mean he had he had a bunch of
- 4:26other shit on. It was hosting television show, and I wally appreciate that.
- 4:29But I do recall specifically one time that he came to watch me play
- 4:31foot in the afternoon. It was like, yeah, this is this means
- 4:34something. It means something. Yeah, so parents, if you can make
- 4:39the extra effort, Yeah, if you can, but everyone can, but
- 4:42if you can do it. So this is the stuff that we like,
- 4:44parenthood and aphorisms that you put up on Facebook. But Andrew JP with the
- 4:49first question or the second question, Matt first, Yeah, first, real
- 4:53question, Jesus, do you still enjoy reviewing The Simpsons now that it's getting
- 4:59too point where most people stopped watching? Is it? Is it more fun
- 5:02to revisit the golden ear episodes with the special guests. Look, I'm gonna
- 5:06say that, Look, it's definitely fun to revisit the classic episodes because I
- 5:12think there are episodes that you and I, if not necessarily grew up on.
- 5:15Remember, Yeah, they really resonate with us. Yeah, they become
- 5:19part of our cultural language, the way we relate to each other, the
- 5:24way we relate to other people. We use it a bit of a punchline.
- 5:26Yeah. We just recorded at Home I Lost Flanders exclusive for Patreon,
- 5:29which has a lot of fun. Yeah. We did two episodes back to
- 5:30back. Christy gets canceled will be coming up. Yeah. Yeah, And
- 5:33I don't think there was a great deal of difference in the energy, but
- 5:39I think there was a bit of a difference in Oh, we're having a
- 5:42lot of fun talking about oh remember this is in this and oh yeah memes
- 5:45and gags and one liners and guest stars and all that, whereas Weird Season
- 5:48nineteen. I don't think I think we're enjoying talking about it, but I
- 5:51think we're only enjoying deconstructing it. We're definitely critiquing it or going why would
- 5:57you have this? Why is that? Yeah? How did you have Jack
- 6:00Black in it for only three minutes? Do you think this would work if
- 6:02you transposed this gag into an earlier episode that we call vintage Simpsons. I
- 6:06mean, but you feel like, how could we fix this episode so it
- 6:10would work now as opposed to then or whatever. I'm sure you could do
- 6:13that with vintage Simpsons, but they're so classic that you feel like you'd be
- 6:16offending everybody. If you tried to deconstruct it, it would feel like that
- 6:19you were taking a part. I was about to say, Gabbo, what's
- 6:25Bobo? Bob? I love the beloved Teddy Bears, Like I'm going to
- 6:28cut him up and make him into a better Teddy Bears. No, No,
- 6:30he's Bob. Whereas with these episodes, I don't think we're as emotionally
- 6:34invested in them, and I think we can view them with a with a
- 6:39clearer set of eyes and go, this doesn't work, and he is why
- 6:43this kind of works. But I would have done this differently. And I
- 6:46don't think we're being completely negative. I think when we're seeing good stuff,
- 6:50we're appreciated, appreciating it and giving it its props. Yeah. I just
- 6:55think with the older episodes we appreciate them, and the seasons at nineteen episodes,
- 7:00where as you said, critiquing and deconstructing, yeah, you necessarily feel
- 7:03like you need to with the older ones, but you definitely do with season
- 7:05nineteen. I think so. Yeah, there's a sense of ah this again
- 7:11with some of the gags, and it's just it feels like the vibe of
- 7:15the show's just getting a bit lazier. Yeah. Back with Classic Simpsons,
- 7:17Injured Simpsons, whatever, it felt like it was setting the pace for just
- 7:23about everything, but also not wanting to compete with anything. It's like we
- 7:27shout a baby, I know, with a best show on TV, but
- 7:31with the Simpsons, we've got our own tone. We'll do things our way
- 7:35and it's not a matter of like, we don't even care if you appreciate.
- 7:40It's like, no, I think that you're making a show that wants
- 7:42that you want to entertain people with, but at the same time, we're
- 7:45also really entertaining ourselves. Watching say season nineteen, it's like, do you
- 7:48think they like this? Yeah, that's the feeling I'm getting anywhere you get
- 7:51the feeling from the people making you think that they'll laugh at this, right,
- 7:56Yeah, well we're gonna do this. We don't care what you think
- 7:58a lot of the time as well. Yeah, that's the other one.
- 8:00Yeah, Or it's like a disdain for the criticism, Well you don't think
- 8:03it's funny. Yeah, But with the Simpsons, yeah yeah. I find
- 8:07too that when we were reviewing the older episodes, it feels almost impossible to
- 8:13touch on every gag that you see in the show because you'd be there forever.
- 8:16It's like you have to sometimes go, I know it's funny, but
- 8:18we can't talk about everything. But with the older episodes that we're doing now,
- 8:22it just feels like it's so much filler, And I feel like when
- 8:26we're doing every new episodes in the season nineteen, it feels like we're filling
- 8:30that gap and that void with just banter about whatever. We're going more tangents.
- 8:33We're in the older episodes. You can't really golf on tangents because there's
- 8:37so much to talk about. We're in the newer ones. It's either critique
- 8:41or go. Yeah, that was kind of funny, and then got from
- 8:43a tangent pretty much. People seem to like they like the tangents. But
- 8:46Andrew JP says he followed up standing appreciate the Dan doing guy going to the
- 8:48teen seasons as open minded as possible, but there's genuine love and nostalgia for
- 8:52the Golden seasons. By comparison and listening to the South Park Pod going down
- 8:56to South Park, check it out if you haven't already, you can.
- 8:58Definitely all the boys loved doing all the voices as much as reviewing the episodes.
- 9:01Yeah, that's right, Andrew, that's right, Andrew, check out.
- 9:09Honestly, if you don't like South offa still check out going down to
- 9:11South Pike. It's we have so much fun doing that show. We're in
- 9:13season five now, which is just like season four Simpsons, It's unbelievable.
- 9:18If you don't like South Pike, but you do, like Dan dol Guy,
- 9:20definitely check it out. Tellia Enriquez, how would you say your methods
- 9:24of analysis has evolved throughout your years of reviewing. What do you find yourself
- 9:28focusing on now more than ever? What sort of touched on the previous question
- 9:31where we're definitely trying to improve the episodes now, Yeah, we do go
- 9:37in with an open mind. We don't. There are some podcasts out there
- 9:39that's going and just hate watch, and I've never understood the hate watching.
- 9:43I saw a clip of of Kevin Smith on Michael Rosenbaum's podcast, because Jim
- 9:46Cummings went on his podcast last week, recorded last week. Yeah, so
- 9:50I saw a clip from that podcast where he's talking about He asked him,
- 9:54why don't you really critique things any morning? He goes, I nearly died,
- 9:56like you know, I had a heart attack or whatever it was.
- 10:00And I was fucked up last year like mentally as well. So I sort
- 10:01of realized why I hate watch things. I'm just gonna watch things that I
- 10:05enjoy and tell everybody why I love it. So I think you've just you've
- 10:09got to go in with a positive mindset or you're just gonna drive you.
- 10:11There is a niche market out there for people who just want to listen to
- 10:15people hate watch the things that they don't like either. I'm sure there's a
- 10:18market for its. Progressing is a big one, right, people always hate
- 10:20watching. I don't want to be that guy. I don't want to be
- 10:22the guy going and this is shit. And this is why we go in
- 10:24with a try to more constructive criticism. Sometimes reramped me go it annoys me
- 10:30because it feels like it was so much if you just thought about it for
- 10:33a little bit longer, you could have given something a bit better storyline wise.
- 10:35But a lot of the time we go into this going, look,
- 10:39we get it. You know, season nineteen there's going to be it's not
- 10:43gonna be as good as season four. But we still try to critique it
- 10:46in a way that feels somewhat constructive. The word criticism, I mean,
- 10:50it's not necessarily sledging. People tend to think that, you know, oh,
- 10:54you're being so critical, that that's a shorthand for just oh you hate
- 10:58it. Critic Criticism is critical thinking. It's analysis. You know, you're
- 11:03trying to understand what works and what doesn't, and then express that I don't
- 11:07know, maybe back in the day, when there was say a lot less
- 11:11content around, it would be valuable to get. This is why this doesn't
- 11:16work. This is why you shouldn't be spending your hard earned money on this
- 11:18and maybe wait for it to come to television or come to video or whatever.
- 11:22Particularly you're talking about movies. Now, there's just so much stuff that
- 11:26yeah, it's it's I want to say it's easier for people, but it
- 11:30is. Man, well it is to say, Look, I think I'm
- 11:33just gonna focus on what's good out there because there's so much stuff. It's
- 11:35like if I'm not mentioning something that means don't don't waste your time. Well,
- 11:41the thing is I've never got You see comments online fandom is just a
- 11:45shit show these days, but you often see it, really is it.
- 11:48It's kind of fucking depressing. You see comments going I can't wait to hear
- 11:52someone so round about this. Why why why do you find somebody's joy?
- 11:56I mean, do what you want, but how do you find joy out
- 11:58as watching I can't hear this person ship on something that I don't like either,
- 12:03just don't watch it, don't. I don't mind that every once in
- 12:05a while. I mean I I we sent me there, I sent down
- 12:09to a link last night to someone who really took issue with the documentary?
- 12:13Is it the problem with that poo? They took issue, but they everything
- 12:16they broke down was right, like it all made sense what they were breaking
- 12:20down. Oh you mean the person who made the video? Yeah? Right,
- 12:22yeah, what what they was saying? You can't watch that video and
- 12:26go, oh, you're wrong. It's like, well, they're pretty spot
- 12:28on, and also they're really funny with it. I had no idea who
- 12:33this woman was beforehand, but she just came up in algorithm. Okay,
- 12:37this sounds kind of interally, and she just went to down. It was
- 12:43really entertaining. Now, at the same time, you've got a lot of
- 12:46people who I don't think the current term is your as grifters, that's definitely
- 12:52the thing, who are saying going to make a buck somehow, right?
- 12:54Yeah, yeah, I mean I'm not going to know names, but you
- 12:56know, invariably you go through YouTube, you're gonna find work question mark on
- 13:01their on their thumbnails or whatever. And yeah, they're taking issue with just
- 13:05about everything, and for particular reasons. People love it, and some people
- 13:09love that. I mean, I'm almost I can't call it lazy because clearly
- 13:13some effort has gone into it. But at the same time, it's not
- 13:18lazy in effort, but it is a little bit lazy in thinking. Yeah,
- 13:20I mean, I it's not it's not criticism, it's that that's just
- 13:26quote unquote criticism. I will say that I truly believe that when you and
- 13:31I go off on a tangent rant wise with the show now with the Simpsons,
- 13:35it's for a reason. And I think if anyone who listens to the
- 13:37show would probably agree to the most part with what we're saying, I would
- 13:41like to hope. So, I mean, you know, we're like your
- 13:43parents in that regard. We're not man, we're just disappointed. Yeah,
- 13:46and I will very rarely get properly angry at the show. Well, I
- 13:50think there's a reason that, you know, our friends and patrons, Oh
- 13:54it's another Simpsons Safari or so you know that's the gold stand for you.
- 14:00Oh is he gonna find it like that? That was a few episodes.
- 14:01I mean that was like how many seasons ago? Was that seventeen Citi Safari?
- 14:05Yeah? Thirteen? Yeah, it's like five seasons ago. Okay,
- 14:11I've lost all track of Let's have a look. And that's the problem with
- 14:13the Simpsons teen era. It just feels like an all one big blur,
- 14:16doesn't it. Yeah, Simpsons Safaris have a look, But we're going back.
- 14:20There was season twelve episodes seventeen, so now we're going back that far.
- 14:24That was like four years ago. I yeah, I thought of that.
- 14:26Yeah, and that's sort of like my standup for like, oh God,
- 14:30did not like that. I wonder if it's going to be like that
- 14:31again. I mean, clearly, I haven't been too angry at too much
- 14:35in the in the interim, and I don't think you have either. I
- 14:37think I for me, my Simpsons Afari is one Way Home was drunk?
- 14:41Oh yeah, what was it? Codependence Day? Yes, yeah, it
- 14:45was like that. You really did not like that at all? Okay,
- 14:50next question, let's get to our next question here comes from Alissa Catherine Alyssa
- 14:54says, are there any Simpsons phrases you find yourself saying? Completely out of
- 14:58content? Next? I very often find myself randomly singing comic book Guy's Little
- 15:03Song from They Save Lisa's Brain. I am smart, much smarter than you.
- 15:07Your burnt. Any Simpsons lines that you say added context, I say,
- 15:11just gonna put my shoes on. Nearly every time Nichola says that you're
- 15:15ready, that's in context. Out of context, not too sure. I
- 15:18think anytime I'll open like a new pack of tortillas and it's got their little
- 15:22moisture absorbed, some things in there. Yeah, every time I see one
- 15:24of those that like it falls out of the bag. So because of me,
- 15:28they have a warning. No one else in the house, or you
- 15:33know, when I go into the anytime I go into the car park at
- 15:37Coles, the one in Shannon Avenue, which is just the worst design car
- 15:41park. It's horrific. It's terrible. It's like it was designed a fucking
- 15:43mc yeah shaw. Most car parks of ship though, Oh yeah. The
- 15:48one further down the road in Shannon Aving in the corner of Shannon Abydeen just
- 15:52as bad. But it feels like listeners that basically they built the coals and
- 15:56went, oh shit, we could book car parks as well. Quick find
- 16:00space somewhere. Everyone goes across the street and parks at Aldi, which is
- 16:04a much better designed car park. But anytime I park in there and I
- 16:08get out, and I sort of like I'm in the lines, you know,
- 16:11like I go tell your mom every time, go tell your mama sull
- 16:18hear about this, but just checking out, like I'm not a dreadful Parker,
- 16:23and you know, I'm making sure that I'm coloring inside the lines.
- 16:26I'm inside of the lines. I like it. Tell them up. I
- 16:30do say yes a lot as well, mean grats probably in context, but
- 16:37yeah, but what was that? What already whatever said the word? Yes?
- 16:41Yes? And I think I've had occasions when i think I've done something
- 16:45really well that I'll just pull the old open door and go, I'm a
- 16:48triple threat. You do say triple threat at yeah, by apologies to everyone
- 16:53listening. Keith Adam, How does Keith for a while? Have we get
- 16:57him? Keith Adam? Yes, how does it feel to be the kings
- 17:00of Australia. I'm thinking of something like this and he's put a gift of
- 17:03solid gold, Homer. We are not the Kings of Australia. That's that's
- 17:06King Charles, sort of the kings of this household. Yes we are.
- 17:10We are merely serfs to the queens in our life. Yes we are,
- 17:14indeed, James Daniel, But thanks man, that's a real nazogo boost absolutely
- 17:18cracked. Question from a Tasmanian migrating to your neck of the woods. What
- 17:22advantages does Geelong have over say Melbourne, which I could also afford, depends
- 17:27what you like. Do you like city life because yeah? Or do you
- 17:30like regional city life because I mean Geelong's a city. Yeah, it's the
- 17:36city greater Gelong. It actually says that in the council lamp there's definitely growing.
- 17:40Now if you city on the ground, do you prefer If you prefer
- 17:42to go to a cafe and just sort of have a coffee and not have
- 17:45to drive and to sort of get here, there and everywhere and have that
- 17:48city lifestyle, then Melbourne's for you. But if you like to got packer,
- 17:51we've got We've got plenty of cafes in Geelong. But if youre also
- 17:52like the beach life as well, and just more freedom to not have to
- 17:56feel like you it's just the the it's the amount of people in Melbourne that
- 18:00gets me on this. It's just people everywhere all the time. You don't
- 18:03feel like you can go down anywhere without being surrounded by a bunch by a
- 18:07mob of people. So if you don't like people, I would go to
- 18:10Geelong. Yeah. My line has always been, and I've probably said this
- 18:12in the past on the show, Geelong has everything you need and anything you
- 18:18want is not far away. Yeah, yeah, I mean everything you need
- 18:22is in Geelong in terms of like there's good eateries, a good sort of
- 18:26social scene, a bit of a cultural kind of thing. It's got.
- 18:32It's got everything you need in that regard. And if you want a little
- 18:33bit more then yeah, Melbourne is less than an hour away depending on the
- 18:37traffic. And yeah, as Danna said, we got got the surf coast,
- 18:41got beaches. People are saying that Geelong's gone to shit, but I
- 18:45honestly feel like Gelong right now is at that point where you know it seems
- 18:48to go city on the grow. It feels like we're growing right again.
- 18:52That's not a phrase that I also a city on the grow. Every city
- 18:57has its shit aspects, right, it really does. Now. It feels
- 19:00like we're in a transitional face. It feels like there is a bit of
- 19:03development going on. Certainly in the in the CBD, there has been knocking
- 19:07that shit down and rebuilding it. A bit of proper development going on.
- 19:08Hopefully they're able to figure out something to do with it. It's not just
- 19:11a matter of realizing that Geelong's it's not just Geelong, it's the whole nature
- 19:18of commerce has changed as well. There's a lot less need for bricks and
- 19:22mortar kind of shops, which is unfortunately. I mean I like the shopping.
- 19:25I like going in and just holding it in my hand. First.
- 19:27Yeah, but I think it's going to become a bit more boutique. But
- 19:30if you want that, in Geelong, we've got Packing the Street which is
- 19:33full of great shops and boutiques and cafes and all that kind of business.
- 19:37The city not so much. But it's Packing the closest to a Melbourne sort
- 19:40of cafe style street. Absolutely. Yeah, but the city is hopefully making
- 19:44a bit of a comeback in the regard. So James by means, come
- 19:48to Geelong will make you more than welcome. You know what it does have
- 19:49over Melbourne, Guy and Dando, that is good. We'll buy you a
- 19:53coffee, we'll lend your money for a coffee, and we'll make your parents
- 19:57way out the front of two hours, poor old Katieg's folks. But ask
- 20:03Katieg she I think she had a nice time which game to Geelong? Yeah,
- 20:07Gelong is has a bad rap. I think a lot of the bad
- 20:08rap is just from a reputation exists of twenty years ago. It's also from
- 20:11people who live in Geelong. Yes, you know, you only hurt the
- 20:15ones you love. If you're a fan of everything we do here at four

- 20:44Discount. Andy d has put a gift saying just do it. As a
- 20:48question, we're gonna have to go listen to other podcasts. It's just yeah,
- 20:51Harrison Appleby is actually clever. Good on Harrison Appleby, do you have
- 20:56w riz? I'm down with what the kids are saying these days. I'm
- 21:03assuming this means winner's charisma. I don't know. I'm not down with the
- 21:07kids. That's lost on me. Riz is short for charisma. Okay,
- 21:12the best of my understanding, let's google w whiz whiz w rizz This how
- 21:18wiz means something? I'm so old I have to google what slaying is now
- 21:21streaming on Twitch? Seeing that would use the term riz and development of other
- 21:25phrases such as w rizz to describe a person's winning or losing abilities of attracting
- 21:29or chatting up potential love interest. Oh so this well, Dan and I
- 21:33have already, you know, just got happily married of Bush three Pointersteen.
- 21:37It's happy married of eleven years, two kids. Nicholas seems still content.
- 21:41The lovely Lewis and I've been together for five and a half years. Did
- 21:45you have a good game when you were younger? Though? Good game when
- 21:48they came to China flat with girls and that kind of thing. Apparently I
- 21:52could be quite charming, I seem to have. I'm one of those guys
- 21:56who was oblivious so so many girls to friends of the past. Since being
- 22:00married, nickol have gone, I was like hot for you. I had
- 22:03to think to you, and you just never made a move. And I
- 22:04was like, oh yeah, I'm talking about want to say, a bunch
- 22:08of girls, but I'm thinking like at least ten girls of the past of
- 22:11going if you wanted me, you could have had me. And like you
- 22:14just never made a move. I was like, oh shit, Oh yeah,
- 22:17the girl that I had a major crush on in high school years years
- 22:22later, I always thought you were cute, but you know you you were
- 22:27just too too perfect, well not too perfect, but too good to be
- 22:32two sort of like that. And they always they always say to me,
- 22:36I just really thought you were interested because you never made a move, or
- 22:40she thought that I was sort of out of a league or something. I'm
- 22:42like, what go you had your damn adam my league? Have you seen?
- 22:48But as me as I tend to say, like, I'm terrible engaging.
- 22:52If anyone has any interest in me romantically or sex, you would have
- 22:55to strip naked. Well, I remember there's one there is one girl,
- 23:00another girl called Katie. She was like, I don't think I could have
- 23:02been any more obvious. Well, or what you to do was take your
- 23:04shirt off and touch me. Otherwise I had no idea. I just I
- 23:07just go out and have a good time. I picked up girls and whatnot.
- 23:11But I just saw a lot of my girlfriends as just my friends.
- 23:15And I'm like, oh, they never gonna be interested in me. I
- 23:15just never saw them that way. But they go we DAEs with all the
- 23:18time because we want to go in with you. I'm like, oh shit.
- 23:22So I guess the answer is, yes, we had w rizz,
- 23:25but we had the ability to. I just never took full advantage of it.
- 23:29I guess you could say unconsciously we had w rizz. Yeah. Yeah,
- 23:32these days we don't need it all right, Next question, it's on
- 23:36hold, it's on pause, Sam Noddy Bennett. What's a diorama? Okay,
- 23:41so how would you describe a diorama? Let's take this somewhat witty banter
- 23:45and turn it into an actual question. Well, so it's an art project,
- 23:47a diorama. So basically it's just, yeah, you're making a scene
- 23:51in physical form. Did you ever make dioramas in three dimensional physical form?
- 23:55Did you ever make dioramas? Never? Do? It feels like you watch
- 23:56American shows. It feels like the diorama contest seems to be a regular yeah.
- 24:00The thing that I remember in sort of semi in relation to this was
- 24:04back in grade six, we were given this. You had like a big
- 24:08project every term, and this one was you had to do like a three
- 24:15dimensional map of it, not a three dimensional but a map of Australia sort
- 24:19of using plaster. And it was to terrifying. It was tough, man.
- 24:26And then you know, it was one where you had to bring your
- 24:26parents in and all that kind of shit. Mine was ugly as hell,
- 24:30geographically completely inaccurate. Uh. And I've forgotten who did this one, but
- 24:36someone brought on in them that was like, holy shit, you did not
- 24:40make that? Yeah? Did you not? Even did your parents help you?
- 24:42Did you outsource that? Shit? It's fucking professional and there's no need
- 24:48for it, isn't it. I feel like if I was a tea shirt,
- 24:49I would go, you're gonna lose points because this is too good.
- 24:52I know you're fucking you're twelve. You didn't make this. I can vividly
- 24:56see it in my mind's eyes, like, holy shit, that's good.
- 24:59Yeah, mine was ugliest sin. It's not about what it looks like.
- 25:03No, No, I was exactly what it looks like. I was I
- 25:07was Lisa with foam, rubber and an orange. You're a monster. I
- 25:12was a monster. You went Florida. Yeah, is that a state?
- 25:18Jack McCarthy, what's your favorite lizard? Oh? I think they go to
- 25:23for kids in Australia is either the blue tongue lizard or the frill neck lizard.
- 25:30I've never seen a frill neck lizard. No, with its frills out
- 25:33at least anyway. It would be like saying the loss of raptor. Someone
- 25:37sayurus Delosaurus, the one in Joicy part Delfasaurus with the frill neck that spits
- 25:44in Nidis. Always you said a loss of raptor. I was mixing up
- 25:48my day, Yes, mixed up my Dana thought it. Yes, my
- 25:52favorite lizard. Does Kimmodo dragon fall under the they're terri fine, Yeah,
- 25:57apparently they're. They they eat people what you can't get away, and they
- 26:04climb trees, they swim. Also just a history's greatest monster, but they're
- 26:11more terrified than hippos. They can climb trees, for get Jimmy Carter.
- 26:14Yeah, the Kimmodo dragon history is great monster. Also just badass name.
- 26:18Yeah, Kimodo drag Kimoo. What the yeah, the commodos coming. I
- 26:22went to the word Zoo recently. Yes, And there's hippos in the water
- 26:26and you can see behind the glass and I'm looking at this thing going.
- 26:30You argue with the scariest thing I've ever seen in my life. You know,
- 26:33you see videos of them chasing boats. Oh yeah, they're so fast.
- 26:36Imagine making one of those boats. It's like the boats with a fan
- 26:38on the back, and there's a hippo chasing after you. I would shit
- 26:41my pants. Yeah. I saw a video of the day of two lines
- 26:44enjoying some nice time in the water. All of a sudden, hippo.
- 26:47Yeah, and they run. Simba is terrified. Yeah, faster, faster,
- 26:52faster, shot hits the hits the bricks man. Yeah, it's yeah,
- 26:56Hippos are terrifying. Also, not a lizard, but our favorite lizards.
- 27:00Well, Dano is very far from the frill neck and I like a
- 27:03Komodo drake. Yes, Philip Hawkins, what's your favorite appearance by a Simpsons
- 27:07cast member in a film? My go to is always Dan Castlenetta in Space
- 27:12Jam Michael is killing us. I also enjoy the three members in Godzilla.
- 27:18You get Nancy, Harry, and and Hank and Hank's iconic, the iconic
- 27:23moment of the foot very much. So, yeah, introducing all the trailers
- 27:26and gosh, look, Harry. She has done so much great stuff.
- 27:30I really dig him in The Truman Show where he's the of course, yeah,
- 27:34uh huh uh huh huh, fantastic. He's also in Airheads, isn't
- 27:41he? I believe so, isn't he one of the djas. It's Airhead
- 27:45where he goes uh huh uh huh because he's getting the songs ready and they're
- 27:47in the room with him. John is in the ads as well. I
- 27:52like Hank get a lot of stuff. I really are Julie Cabnet in a
- 27:56lot of movies. I don't know any that she's in what he's done a
- 27:59few Woody Allen movies which I thought she was really good. Found that in
- 28:02the world, So that's correct cancelation. What else has she been in?
- 28:08But I feel like she wasn't in anything big post nineties? Really was she
- 28:11nine? She was in a movie called This Is My Life that was done
- 28:17by I was directed by Nora Efron, who wrote When Harry Met Sally and
- 28:22directed Sleepless in Seattle. I think it's got the fron name on it,
- 28:26and I think she's it's a bit like it's a bit of a precursor,
- 28:29like the Marvelous Missus Maizel. I think she's playing like a stand up comedian.
- 28:32And I only vaguely remember it, but I just remember thinking, Hey,
- 28:34they have Julie Cavill like a lead role. I'm gonna be out some
- 28:37of her films or National Lampoon's movie Madness, Bad Medicine, Hannah and her
- 28:42sister's Radio. Well that's what Allen. You haven't Yeah, and oh yeah,
- 28:45she's the she's the mum in in Radio Day Surrender, New York Stories,
- 28:49Awakenings, Alice Awakening. She's really good. Yeah, Awakenings is lovely.
- 28:56Have you ever seen that? No, that's Robert Nero and Robin Williams
- 28:59and based on this true story. Yeah, yeah, about there was this,
- 29:06damn it. I forgot the technical. We're gonna say brain doctor,
- 29:07yeah, uh, neurologist and named Oliver Sacks. And he was a drip.
- 29:15He was drink doctor and a very interesting character. And he did some
- 29:18research where you had these people who had I was locked in syndrome, but
- 29:22they were basically catatonic but sort of not lying down in a coma. But
- 29:27yeah, they were unresponsive and did some kind of drugs where it woke this
- 29:33guy up. And Robert de Niro plays the guy who's basically been incapacitating on
- 29:36his life and he wakes up and it's like and Julie cap and mean roile.
- 29:41Robin Wims is the doctor and he's kind of a bit repressed. Julie
- 29:44cavn' is the nurse who likes him, but he can't really make a move
- 29:47on. They've got this really sweet love story. It's very, very nice.
- 29:49Julie cavn is fantastic. Awakenings. Awakenings. Oh, I hate it
- 29:53when there are movies that you know are good but you forget exist. And
- 29:56that's one of them. Awakenings. You've sold me on it, but you
- 30:02saw me when he said to Nero and fucking yeah Williams, holy shit,
- 30:07it's funny. I mean, yeah, it's a movie that it was just
- 30:10post dead Poets Society for wrong Williams. So he was on a bit of
- 30:12a run of doing dramatic stuff. Yeah, he had Yeah, late eighties,
- 30:17early nineties, he was, Yeah, I had a really good run.
- 30:18All right, final question here from the patrons favorite lesser known Australian creature.
- 30:23Lesser known. Everyone knows about the spiders, right or the dangerous ship
- 30:27snakes, koalas EMUs, kangaroos. Do people know about the bilbie? No?
- 30:34Maybe not the quackerer. Everyone knows that quacker because it's always so happy.
- 30:38It's a selfie animal. Yeah, yeah, n Maybe the platypus is
- 30:44well known, of course, but I don't think people know that the platypus
- 30:45is exactually venomous. No ship, is it really? I believe. So
- 30:48I'm about to take kids to see some platypuses. We've going up to a
- 30:51holiday dad, and I was going to the Hillsville Sanctuary, a good place.
- 30:53Yeah, don't let the kids hold the platypus, however, but I'm
- 30:56pretty sure. Let's just do a quick bit of giggling the platypus. You
- 31:00looked at it, and you go it almost looks like a mistake. Oh
- 31:03yeah, very much. Designed by committee. Platypus poison, Where does it
- 31:08come from? Their feet? The platypus is one of the few living mammals
- 31:12to produce venom not the Tom Hardy movie the venom has made the venom glands.
- 31:18Funnily enough, they are connected to hollow spurs on their hind legs.
- 31:21Sometimes I must have known it was primarily made during the mating season. I
- 31:25don't know. While the venoms effects are described, is extremely painful. Sorry,
- 31:30let me do that again. I want to do it in Bain voice.
- 31:33The venoms effects are described, is extremely powerful for you or you it
- 31:38is not lethal to humans. Thank you for asking that question so I could
- 31:42do a Bane impersonation. Do you think they look back and they regret having
- 31:45him do that voice? I don't think they regretted at all. Over When
- 31:51I first watched the movie, because I didn't watch any trailers, were in
- 31:53blind and when he started speaking that way, get the fuck out of here,
- 31:56I thought it was fantastic. I thought it was such a great choice.
- 32:00Any Tom Hardy voice choice, I reckon, They're always great. I
- 32:04know. I was just seeing Bain as just this monster. O you,
- 32:10that's fantastic. It's so unexpected. I'm not laughing at it, It just
- 32:15it just caught me off. Go. Yeah, there's there's a video going
- 32:20around with him and Andy Serkis, and someone asked him about what's the inspiration
- 32:22of the Bain voice? And there was like some bare knuckle boxer. It
- 32:25was like a romany gypsy or something like that, and it's like, oh,
- 32:29I drew inspiration from him. And then they played the guy's voice like
- 32:31that didn't really sound like you're bane, though he's got the cadence is a
- 32:35bit late. The thing about is get into a fight and do some boxing.
- 32:38Yeah, that sounds more like the guy from Showgun and all honesty.
- 32:42But yeah, you can see he took it and just ram with it.
- 32:45But oh, I love that. It would have been great if that wasn't.
- 32:49Actually Tom Hardy was like Christopher Nolan just did a dub letter on just
- 32:52you Now kids got punked Tom No Learner. That's just a great line though,
- 33:02And I bet I think the for you one, yeah they take that
- 33:07off, will you Die would very extremely preparing for you're a big guy for
- 33:10you all? And then you were just the uh what did someone say?
- 33:17It's like it's the voice you expect from a cartoon warris. I'm wearing a
- 33:23torop hat stage left. Oh love doing the Bain voice. Stop me from
- 33:30doing it? Though? What was I can't remember platypus, Yeah, platypus.
- 33:36But I feel like people know about platypus. Maybe they don't. It's
- 33:38Kyla and kangaroo and emy kiler and kangaroo still a line like don't they Yeah,
- 33:43I think they tend to be the ones that, yeah, people know
- 33:45about it. At the same time, there's always a bit of surprise to
- 33:47it that you know, Kohilas are just high all the time because oh they're
- 33:51so gentle and fluffy, like they're stone yeah, or kangaroos are just buff
- 33:57alpha dudes who like to get on the the videos of get on the yeah,
- 34:00yeah, like real chats. Yeah, just showing off those tops of
- 34:07the small You wouldn't be surprised they had like a tattoo of the Southern Cross.
- 34:12So, I mean, I always won that interesting about Australian pauner.
- 34:16Yeah, there's a bit more going underneath the underneath the surface. All right,
