- 0:21Whether you are listening in our app, in your favorite podcasting app,
- 0:25or on our website at watwm.org, we invite you to sit down with us as we look
- 0:31to the scriptures to learn more about God and to strengthen your daily walk with Jesus Christ.
- 0:38Living a life for Christ. She's a happy girl.
- 0:38Music.
- 0:48She's a happy girl.
- 1:02Scripture tells us that eye hasn't seen and ear hasn't heard,
- 1:07neither has the heart of man imagined what lies in store for them that love the Lord.
- 1:12Heaven is too amazing to imagine and too great to miss. The best is yet to come.
- 1:19So this momentary affliction you may be feeling isn't forever.
- 1:23In fact, life is but a vapor, and our time here is short.
- 1:29Yet, the Master sees fit to make a way for us to escape even the biggest of
- 1:33issues in our lives here.
- 1:36Join us in this podcast of Woman at the Well Ministries as Kim takes us on a
- 1:40journey through the Scriptures, revealing the glory of our future and the grace of our present.
- 1:45So we are going to come out
- 1:49of first corinthians chapter 2 and verse
- 1:529 and we're going to talk about something that's hopeful and something that
- 1:58brings us joy first corinthians chapter 2 and verse 9 reads like this that as it is written that.
- 2:10I have not seen nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man the
- 2:17things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
- 2:22And if you think about it for just a moment, we are told in James 4.14 that life is but a vapor.
- 2:29It appears, and then in a little while,
- 2:33it vanishes away and when
- 2:36you think about all that you've gone through today
- 2:39this week this month some of us have had a few hard months and my family that's
- 2:46on this facebook will certainly attest that we have but even with a long duration
- 2:54or what we think is long of pain and suffering suffering.
- 2:59Heartache, that is but a vapor.
- 3:04See, we think that waiting for what we want a week is a long time.
- 3:09If you're hungry, you think waiting an hour for dinner to be finished and completed
- 3:16so that you can eat seems like forever.
- 3:19But in the scheme of eternity, our entire life is but a vapor.
- 3:27And so when we begin to think about the stressors of this world.
- 3:32My sister used to say, this too shall pass.
- 3:35And the reality of it is, is it does.
- 3:38Somehow, someway, it passes. And the Bible says, don't worry about anything.
- 3:44Don't be anxious for anything.
- 3:47But with prayer and supplication and with thanksgiving, let your requests be
- 3:52made known unto God, and the peace of God shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
- 3:59Isaiah 26.3 says, Thou will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed
- 4:05on thee, because he trusteth in thee.
- 4:09As we begin to watch the scriptures unfold with the lens of life is but a vapor.
- 4:18It appears and then it vanishes.
- 4:21We can begin to see how incredibly important it is to trust in the Lord.
- 4:29See, things look very different from the shepherd's point of view.
- 4:35We see things in the here and now, and time has no constraint for him.
- 4:40So as Christ is watching over us and looking out for us and protecting us and
- 4:46leading us and guiding us and supplying our every need, he sees what his plan is for us.
- 4:54And we're told in Jeremiah 29, 11 that it's a good plan.
- 4:59But somewhere between eye hath not seen and ear hath not heard what lies in
- 5:04store for them that love him.
- 5:06And now we somehow can lose hope.
- 5:13But tonight I want you to get your eyes on things above.
- 5:18Colossians 3.2 says, set your affection on things above and not on things of the earth.
- 5:22When we set our affection on things of the earth, when we set our love,
- 5:26when we place our value, when we measure our life by what's going on in the
- 5:31here and now, we are totally missing the point.
- 5:35See, the best truly is yet to come.
- 5:40That's what he said when he said, but as it is written, I have not seen nor
- 5:45ear heard what lies in store for the things that God hath prepared for them
- 5:51that love him. Do you love him?
- 5:54If you love him, you got to know him.
- 5:58And to know him is to love him. And to love him is to understand the ways of his character.
- 6:05He says, if you love me, you'll keep my commandments and they won't be grievous
- 6:09to you. You won't find it a hardship. You won't find it difficult.
- 6:13And so he gives us a glimpse right here of saying, look, it may be tough right now. It may be hard.
- 6:22But let me tell you something. I've got good news.
- 6:27I'm with you. I'm never going to leave you.
- 6:31And this temporary trouble that you have, I'm going to see you through it.
- 6:37We talked last week about building our foundation on the rock and not on sand.
- 6:43I want you to focus tonight on understanding
- 6:47who the rock is i want you
- 6:50to understand what he has prepared for
- 6:53you in john chapter 14 beginning in verse 1 he says in my father's house are
- 6:58many mansions and if it were not so i would have told you i go to prepare a
- 7:03place for you that where i am you may be also and if i go to prepare a place
- 7:06for you i will surely come again and receive you unto myself.
- 7:12God is watching you, and he's enabling you to do what he's called you to do.
- 7:21In fact, what he said is he'll supply all of your needs according to his riches.
- 7:28So it gets us back to the stressors in our life.
- 7:32If our focus is upon our obstacles, then we will fail to be grateful for our Redeemer.
- 7:44If our focus is upon our troubles, then we will forsake our peace.
- 7:51See, worry is just interest due. You're paying interest on a problem before
- 7:58it's even due. Many of the things that we worry about on a daily basis,
- 8:03they never even come to fruition.
- 8:06Things that cause our heart to tremble. Things that stop us in our track because
- 8:12we're looking with an earthly vision.
- 8:14Friends, this is not the prize.
- 8:17Our heavenly home is what we're to strive for the prize of the high calling to get there.
- 8:26See, we get so skewed in our view that we forget that eye hasn't seen and ear
- 8:31hasn't heard what lies in store or has entered into the heart of man.
- 8:36You can't even dream it up.
- 8:39What God has for you.
- 8:41But what happens is we're short sighted.
- 8:45Oh, I believe we should walk through this world with blinders so that we're
- 8:50not seeing sin and being tempted.
- 8:53That we don't have worldly lusts and desires that fill our hearts and our souls,
- 8:59but that we have submitted ourselves under the mighty hand of God,
- 9:03that he could exalt us in due time.
- 9:07But I believe we should be looking unto Jesus, the author and the finisher of
- 9:15our faith, realizing that the best is yet to come,
- 9:20realizing that we can't even imagine what
- 9:22heaven is like old john on the isle of
- 9:25patmos he got a quick view he's written
- 9:29many things the most precious element we have
- 9:31on earth is gold and with his pavement in heaven there are walls of jasper and
- 9:38pearl the sun never sets and jesus is the light we have there's no sorrow no
- 9:45pain no sickness no death we have of a vague understanding.
- 9:52But we're told in 1 Corinthians 2.9, it's too good to imagine and certainly too good to miss.
- 10:03But those of us who are listening to this, I have to believe already know him.
- 10:10So you're not going to miss heaven, but you know what you're missing?
- 10:14When we are borrowing trouble from tomorrow, he said the evil of the day is sufficient thereof.
- 10:21We don't need to go borrowing about what tomorrow is. We are to live in the presence of God.
- 10:29Now, we plan for our futures. I'm the happy little planner.
- 10:34We are prudent with our finances, our energy, our efforts, our time,
- 10:39our tithing of both time, physical body, and money.
- 10:44But we need to live in the present.
- 10:47Not worrying about what might happen. I have friends who are crippled and almost
- 10:54functionalists because they're just not certain of the economy.
- 10:57They're not certain of our future.
- 11:00My future is no less certain today than it was five years ago,
- 11:0710 years ago, 15 years ago, 20 years ago, because my future has always been
- 11:12and always will be in the hands of an almighty God who loved me so much that
- 11:18he paid the sin debt that I in no way could pay and he paved a way for heaven
- 11:23for me before I even knew I had a need.
- 11:26And I promise you, I will never face a need where the consequences are as grave
- 11:33as that or the effort necessary as much.
- 11:38And he met it completely paid in
- 11:42full i don't owe that debt when he said trust in the lord with all thine heart
- 11:49and lean not unto thine own understanding in all thy ways acknowledge him and
- 11:54he shall direct thy paths be not wise in thine own eyes depart from evil.
- 12:02And follow the Lord. We're to follow the Lord.
- 12:07We don't get ahead of him. He says, be still and know that I am God.
- 12:14In 1 Corinthians 10 and verse 13, it reads like this, There hath no temptation
- 12:22taken you, but such is common to man.
- 12:26But God is faithful. Let's say that.
- 12:29But god is faithful who will not suffer you to be tempted above that you are
- 12:36able but will with the temptation also make a way of escape that you may be able to bear it,
- 12:45god is supplying your every need he's supplying the need that you have for the.
- 12:52Issue that's troubling your heart tonight he's making a way where there seems
- 12:58to be no way and his ways are higher than our ways.
- 13:02Our finite mind cannot understand the infinite wisdom, glory and greatness and goodness of God.
- 13:11But what we can do is heed what he says.
- 13:15And he said that the problems of tomorrow, we don't need to touch because we got enough for today.
- 13:25But he said to trust in him and he would make a way and to lay our burdens at
- 13:32his feet and he would exchange them for peace that passes all understanding
- 13:37and a joy unspeakable and full of glory.
- 13:40He explains that if it matters to us, it matters to the master.
- 13:47And he said, hey, get your eyes off of today and your world right now.
- 13:55Live in my presence and look upward for your redemption draws nigh.
- 14:04God has given us everything we need pertaining to godliness and holiness.
- 14:09But it requires us to choose where we're going to put our vision.
- 14:14Joshua said, as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
- 14:17Deuteronomy poses this question to us. Choose you this day who you will serve.
- 14:23I believe this passage in 1 Corinthians 2 and verse 9 is placed perfectly to
- 14:34remind us that this world is not our home.
- 14:36We are just pilgrims and sojourners passing through. and the best is yet to come.
- 14:42And nothing that comes your way will be beyond your ability to withstand because
- 14:50the battle's not yours. It belongs to the Lord. That's what David tells us.
- 14:55So friends, don't lose hope.
- 14:59Don't be dismayed and don't have despair. there.
- 15:04Jesus said, I was tempted like as you are yet without sin.
- 15:10Come boldly to my throne and obtain mercy in your time of need.
- 15:18Friends, the best is yet to come. If your hope is in this world,
- 15:23he said you'd be most miserable.
- 15:26But my hope is in Jesus Christ, the author and the finisher of my faith,
- 15:32the King of kings and the Lord of lords, the creator of all,
- 15:38my Savior, yet my friend, my constant companion,
- 15:44my architect who's building a home not made with hands eternal into the heavens.
- 15:50And you know what? He's a perfect designer.
- 15:56It will be perfect for me. and eye hasn't seen and ear hasn't heard and nothing
- 16:04has entered into my heart or yours that can compare to what God has for each of us.
- 16:13He says, trust in me.
- 16:17He also said in Mark 9.23, if thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believes.
- 16:31Oh, be still and know that he is God.
- 16:35Delight yourself in him, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
- 16:44Oh, tonight, don't lose hope.
- 16:47Don't walk around defeated because we're more than conquerors.
- 16:52Thanks be to God who gives us the victory.
- 16:57We are champions when we fight with the sword of the Spirit in the name of the Lord.
- 17:07And His power, and His might. So put on the whole armor of God and go forth,
- 17:15shoulders reared back and head held on, because you're just marching through,
- 17:21and the best is yet to come.
