- 0:00I'm Jaime Gennaro, business coach and consultant and founder of Practica Consulting.
- 0:06In today's episode of Business for Humans, we're diving into the theme of refocusing and re-energizing.
- 0:13We'll explore how to balance mindset work with action and why it's so important
- 0:18to embrace the journey rather than expecting an overnight transformation.
- 0:23I share strategies for setting clear, focused goals and breaking them down into
- 0:28manageable tasks. Let's go.
- 0:32Hello, everyone. It is the beginning of September here in the Netherlands.
- 0:39I'm so happy that it's still summer. It's really like more summer than it's been most of the summer.
- 0:46So as some people are preparing for fall and for fall weather and all of the things that go with it.
- 0:52I am holding on to the last days of summer.
- 0:57But mentally, most of us think of September as sort of another fresh start, right?
- 1:04If we think about the school calendar and even some company fiscal year calendars,
- 1:11this is the time to kind of get going again, right? To refocus.
- 1:18Hopefully, Hopefully you've taken a holiday. You got to take a little bit of
- 1:23a reprieve at some point during the summer.
- 1:26And so now you're ready to get focused and reconnected to what you're doing,
- 1:34why you're doing it, and then start to really make a plan to move yourself forward.
- 1:40Word. So I am no different.
- 1:42September feels that way to me too. We kind of have this slow period in the business.
- 1:48In August, things kind of start to ramp down.
- 1:51And then September starts to get really busy again because in the sort of operational
- 1:57role I play with some of my clients, things start to ramp up.
- 2:01Clients are showing up. They need to get organized. They need to get it focused.
- 2:05And with some of my coaching clients and career change clients, it's the same thing.
- 2:11It's like, okay, I took a little breather in the summer.
- 2:14I was just thinking through a lot of things and now I'm ready to put that thought into action.
- 2:20So what I want to talk about today is that refocus, that refocused energy,
- 2:27and also how you calibrate the taking action with the mindset.
- 2:35Work, the personal growth work, what my marketing person and I were just brainstorming
- 2:43about this idea of the journey, right?
- 2:47When you start thinking about a career change or you start refocusing yourself
- 2:53in your career, what you want to be doing next, how you're going to elevate,
- 2:57where you're going, it's a journey.
- 3:00And if you're expecting a quick fix or expecting somehow that but overnight
- 3:04you're going to have all the answers.
- 3:06It's just not the way it works. I'm so sorry. I know we all want that, right?
- 3:11We all want someone to hand us an envelope that has the answer that tells us
- 3:17what we should be doing next and why and how and to not have to go on that journey.
- 3:23Sometimes we just don't want to or like, can we just not be on a journey for
- 3:29a minute or not have personal growth for a minute or just make a quick decision so we can move on.
- 3:36That's always a choice. It's always a choice.
- 3:40If you do feel like you're in a place where you're like, I don't want to keep
- 3:43belaboring this. I want to make a decision.
- 3:46Every decision is right. There's never a wrong decision for you.
- 3:51Every decision will get you somewhere you need to go.
- 3:54And once you make the decision, you want to make sure you commit that you're
- 3:59all in, that you're like, listen, I made this decision. I'm not going to go back on it.
- 4:04That will be helpful because if you keep belaboring and questioning and wondering
- 4:08and overthinking, then you never really take that next step.
- 4:13So that's in the decision-making process. But when we decide that we're going
- 4:17to commit to a change, to a big change in our career, it's a journey.
- 4:22And it's important to talk about it here and this idea of refocusing because
- 4:29what I do with people in my work is I am not a recruiter.
- 4:36I'm not a headhunter. I'm not a job placement specialist.
- 4:40I'm the journey. I'm the person you go on the journey with.
- 4:45I'm the person that's going to help you understand why the journey matters.
- 4:51And although I do do coaching in time, I have timelines around the coaching
- 4:57and we have goals we want to hit.
- 4:59It's really important to me that my clients understand that this isn't like an overnight thing.
- 5:05We're not going to get you into this elevated place in your life,
- 5:10doing things differently, making different decisions, approaching your work in a different way.
- 5:16We have to change all that because if you want something to change in your career,
- 5:20you're going to have to change your approach.
- 5:22You can't just keep doing it
- 5:23the same way and think that magically all the results are going to shift.
- 5:27The results shift based on what you do and how you approach things.
- 5:32I'm going to coach you through approaching things and showing up differently.
- 5:36There's going to be a lot of mindset work in the in-between,
- 5:40but we're also going to work on tactics, right?
- 5:43We're going to understand the why behind the journey.
- 5:47Why do we want to get to a new place in our career? Why do we want to shift
- 5:50careers? Are we doing it for the right reasons?
- 5:53And then we start taking actions and showing up differently and creating different results in our lives.
- 6:00But we want to do it in a focused way. Because if we're trying to target a million
- 6:07different goals in a million different ways,
- 6:10and we're just kind of half-heartedly dipping our toes in things for short periods of time,
- 6:17we'll never really make that full push over the finish line on any one thing,
- 6:23which is really satisfying, right?
- 6:26To set a goal and to actually take that goal to the the finish line.
- 6:30So I'm no different. I pop around and I talk about a lot of different topics.
- 6:35And I'm just like, okay, what is the thing that feels like the theme that people are going through?
- 6:41What are my clients dealing with?
- 6:43I pick these themes and then I kind of pop around.
- 6:47And to me, they're all linked, right? Of course, I feel a link and a connection
- 6:51between all of these themes.
- 6:53But at the same time, I realized I'm a little unfocused too.
- 6:57I'm kind of popping around. I I had someone do a discovery call the other day
- 7:01and he said, seems like you do a lot of things.
- 7:04Like you help people through career change. You help people launch businesses.
- 7:08You help them through mindset. You help them with tactics. I'm like,
- 7:11yes, I do. I do all of those things.
- 7:15But from the outside, if you can't see the thread, if you can't see how all
- 7:19those things might be connected, it looks scattered, right?
- 7:23It looks a little bit unfocused, like I'm just trying to help everyone.
- 7:27But here's what we all have in common when we are...
- 7:32Wanting to elevate. Not everybody wants to get to the next level of the video
- 7:37game. Some people are perfectly content.
- 7:40They're like, this is my job. I can do this for 20 years. It's fine. I'm happy here.
- 7:45You're not my people. You're not probably listening to this right now.
- 7:49My people are the people who are like, what's the next thing?
- 7:53What kind of potential haven't I tapped into yet? What skill sets am I not using?
- 8:00I know that there's more than this for me. There is a place out there for me
- 8:06where I get to use my best skills and I get to feel valued for those skills
- 8:12and I get to work with like-minded people and I get to be in a supportive environment.
- 8:18You're here because there's something else that you want, that you know you
- 8:23deserve, that you've been working working hard towards, but you need some focus, right?
- 8:30You're kind of like trying out a lot of different things, which I encourage,
- 8:34but you also need some focus.
- 8:37So how do you get focus? And then how do you move away from focus?
- 8:41Because I think sometimes there's also a tendency to get stuck in the planning
- 8:45phase. Like, let me just get myself focused.
- 8:48I'll make a list. I'll get myself ready. Let me get myself ready again.
- 8:52Let me get myself ready again. Let me make another other plan.
- 8:55Let me make another list.
- 8:57Just make one list and then start implementing the plan.
- 9:01When you're working towards goals, you don't want to throw that goal so far
- 9:08out into the future that there's nothing to hold yourself accountable for.
- 9:12So what I want you to do, this is your work for this week, I want you to think
- 9:18about what is the next phase of this journey for you?
- 9:23What is the thing that is really poking at you the most?
- 9:30Is it, I need more money? Is it, I need more recognition?
- 9:35Is it, I'm not getting in front of enough clients?
- 9:41What's the most urgent thing right now that's really poking,
- 9:46that you're thinking about more often than other things?
- 9:49And take that thing and break it down into five manageable tasks.
- 9:59Not things that you need this person and that person and this person and that
- 10:02person to accomplish, but what are the five things from this most urgent goal
- 10:08that you want to get to that you could do in the next two weeks?
- 10:13Right? So start breaking it down into these more manageable pieces.
- 10:18So then now you have five things to hold yourself accountable to for the next two weeks.
- 10:25And give yourself some sense of, if I don't do this, what am I missing, right?
- 10:33If I want to make more money and I've dialed it down to these five things I
- 10:38could do over the next two weeks to try to get me there,
- 10:41what I know and what I need to be honest with myself about is if I don't do
- 10:46those five things, I'm not going to make more money.
- 10:49Now, it's not guaranteed that I do those five things and I also make more money.
- 10:54But those five things
- 10:57are movement movement forward what we
- 11:00know with physics is like there is an inertia right there's a build building
- 11:05of motion right that gets things into propulsion if you stay stagnant there's
- 11:12no propulsion right there's no momentum there's no movement forward word. There's no inertia.
- 11:18So we want to just make movement. You don't have to pressurize those five things
- 11:24or pressurize those goals like I'm a loser and I'm going to use this to beat myself up.
- 11:30But we do have to sit down when we write down these five things and tell ourselves,
- 11:34if I don't do these five things, I will not get the results that I'm looking for.
- 11:42And this is something I talk to my clients about too because I assign homework
- 11:46and to some of my clients they're like it's too much homework I've tried to
- 11:51scale it back a little bit.
- 11:53But if you aren't doing the homework, you're not going to get the results that
- 11:57you came to me to get, period.
- 11:59And it's not just about homework. It's about that focus, right?
- 12:04It means, listen, I'm focused on the journey.
- 12:07I'm focused on getting from point A to some point.
- 12:12It doesn't have to be B. It can be A.1.
- 12:16But I am committed to making the movement, to taking the steps.
- 12:21And even if you can't do all the homework and you just take a 0.5 step,
- 12:26do the 0.5 step this week, right?
- 12:30This is part of what is going to keep you focused because you're creating a
- 12:35plan, let's say at the beginning of a two-week cycle, and you know what's inside
- 12:41of that plan that you need to get done.
- 12:43What inevitably happens is that other things get piled on top and priorities start to shift.
- 12:50Shift what I want you to remember for the next two weeks is that yes things
- 12:54are going to pile on top yes priorities will start to shift you know there's
- 12:59always things like your health your mental health your physical health your
- 13:04your family your friends like sometimes people need your support.
- 13:09And that's going to trump some of the things on this list but what I really
- 13:13want you to focus on and set your intention on for the next two weeks as we
- 13:20start this phase into like, this is our,
- 13:23you know, we're ramping towards the end of the year.
- 13:26This is when we really want to meet some goals and objectives.
- 13:29Whatever those five things are on your list, get them done no matter what.
- 13:34I want you to, over the next two weeks, just.
- 13:38Make them a priority. Other things, again, it will shift.
- 13:42It may not be the first thing you do in the day, but I want you to put those
- 13:47things at the front burner so that you don't get into the habit of,
- 13:52it's okay, I can let them go.
- 13:54It's okay, I can let them go because you're looking for certain results.
- 13:57That's why you're here. You're looking for a shift. You're looking for a change.
- 14:01You're looking for an elevation. You're looking for different results.
- 14:05You're not going to get them if you don't do the things.
- 14:09So sit down and figure out what those five things are that are connected to
- 14:15that one urgent burning piece that is, again, poking at you the most.
- 14:23There are lots of urgent things and lots of goals we can set,
- 14:26but what's the real honest to God one that you really need to focus on now that's poking at you.
- 14:34It might be something like you have to pay taxes and you have to come up with
- 14:38that money and everything else sort of goes to the wayside, which means you have to save money.
- 14:45You can't do all the things maybe you wanted to do and you have to find a way
- 14:50to bring in that money if you don't have it, right?
- 14:54This is kind of one of those funky tax seasons, right?
- 14:58For some people who have maybe pushed their taxes from April to October,
- 15:04that might be the thing that's actually poking at you the most that you need
- 15:08to focus on the most, right?
- 15:11And I'm talking business, right? Of course, there are things that poke at us personally too.
- 15:17But I mean, right now in your business, there might be one thing that typically
- 15:20you would put it to the back burner.
- 15:22I don't have to think about that right now, but it pokes, right? It's like poking at you.
- 15:28Or again, maybe it's something related to your clients.
- 15:31Like, I'm not reaching the number of clients I was reaching at the beginning of the year.
- 15:37What are the five things I can do to get in front of clients?
- 15:41And let me tell you, don't reinvent the wheel every time you sit down to make these lists.
- 15:46When has it worked for you in the past?
- 15:50What have you done in the past that's worked? Just bring that back before you
- 15:55create a new list of five things.
- 15:57Go back to that original list. Do those things if they worked.
- 16:02Don't do the things if they didn't work. If you just keep rinsing and repeating
- 16:06and it's not working, trust me, if you keep doing it, it's just never going to work.
- 16:11So if it's worked in the past, don't reinvent the wheel. If it hasn't worked
- 16:16in the past, reinvent the wheel.
- 16:20Reinvent it. Part of this journey too is being really honest,
- 16:25really honest with yourself about what have I had on my list as a goal for a
- 16:34really long time, that maybe that goal is something for me to back burner.
- 16:40When we talk about focus, it's about honing in on the highest priority things
- 16:46that are going to make the biggest impact.
- 16:50And this is really hard for some business owners because it feels like you have
- 16:54to keep everything open all the time.
- 16:56You have to keep every idea with, you know, movement forward.
- 17:02And it's not true. You want to always have a focus so that you can get that
- 17:10focus over the finish line and then you can maybe create a new focus.
- 17:15But in your business, if you're always pulling focus, if you're always changing
- 17:19direction, if you're always moving towards the shiniest object or the thing
- 17:24that might make you the most money or the thing that is most exciting to you,
- 17:29you're never going to have the opportunity to connect with the people who want
- 17:35to connect with you, which is why I keep pulling it back to me and using myself as an example.
- 17:42But what I want to start doing is really focusing on these pieces of content,
- 17:47like if we're talking about focus or if we're talking about a career change
- 17:51journey, I want to do a little bit more deep diving with you all.
- 17:55I want to talk more thoroughly about these pieces of content so that I'm giving
- 18:01you like true value where you can say,
- 18:04all right, I, you know, listen to these four podcasts that Jamie put out about
- 18:10career change and I understand where she's getting at now.
- 18:15I understand these tactics. I understand how I can better elevate.
- 18:19I understand what I can do for myself rather than me popping around all over the place.
- 18:25One of the things I realized recently too is I have a lot of clients who are
- 18:30going through burnout, a lot of clients in really similar stages of recognition
- 18:35that burnout is is a thing for them,
- 18:38that they're admitting to themselves, wait, this is something I might be.
- 18:43I might need to work through and look at and accept that could be happening to me.
- 18:48And what I realized is I have so much great burnout content and it's just all over the place.
- 18:55It's just like scattered all over the place. And I was telling my clients,
- 19:00I'm going to just pull all of that content together and share it with you because it's so valuable.
- 19:07So I want to be able to do a little bit more of these deep dive series with
- 19:12you on these pieces so that you feel like you're getting more value out of me
- 19:19because I have a similar issue where I don't stay focused.
- 19:23Sometimes I get pulled to the content that I think is the shiniest object at the moment.
- 19:28And maybe what we really need to do is just continue to explore this idea of
- 19:33what's this this topic at hand?
- 19:36And how can I really support you through it?
- 19:38So focus is something that we all, you know, at various times kind of cycle in and out of.
- 19:45Sometimes we're hyper-focused and sometimes it's really hard to get focused.
- 19:49And I think it's similar to discipline, except focus requires a little bit more planning.
- 19:55Focus requires, you know, not just doing the work, but doing it with intention
- 19:59and doing it with structure and making sure we're not just wasting time and
- 20:04wasting energy spreading all these seeds everywhere,
- 20:09what we want to do is like put the seeds in our planter box, right?
- 20:13If we're just like throwing them into the garden, we might get like a little
- 20:16carrot over there growing behind the chair, but that's not where we want it, right?
- 20:22And that's not really going to serve us. We need carrots to be all in the same
- 20:25place so that when it's time to harvest them, we can find them.
- 20:29And that's the problem with sort of spreading your energy across multiple things,
- 20:35it feels really productive.
- 20:37That's sort of the secret.
- 20:42Quicksand about it is that we think we're doing the right thing.
- 20:46We think we're moving things forward.
- 20:48We think we're being productive, but we're really just throwing seeds and hoping that a few of them stick.
- 20:55And what we want to do is we want to make a plan.
- 20:57We want to create the rows for those carrots. We want to plant the seeds.
- 21:02And then we want to get into a routine of watering them, checking in on them, weeding, right?
- 21:10We need to have that plan, implement the plan, and then maintain the plan.
- 21:16So now you have these five things that you're going to focus on, right?
- 21:21We know what those five things are. We've identified them. We know other priorities
- 21:25are going to try to get in the way.
- 21:26We're going to get in the mindset of knowing whatever tries to get in the way,
- 21:31we're still going to get these five things done without pain or pressure, right?
- 21:37Of course, something might come up. I just don't want you to have an easy escape
- 21:42mechanism to get out of them. We want to create new results.
- 21:46You have these five things. And now what we need to do is get them completed.
- 21:53So one of the tactics that I I like to use in terms of organizing yourself and
- 21:58getting yourself ready,
- 22:00getting the planter box ready for your seeds, is to look at your calendar and
- 22:07get very real about what can move and what can't move off your calendar.
- 22:12When I'm teaching people about planning out their calendar, it's like put all
- 22:18of your health things in there, your exercise, your trips to the gym.
- 22:25That's immovable, that's number one, that goes into the calendar and everything
- 22:29else moves around it, right?
- 22:31Then we have like our family obligations, our kid things that we have to manage,
- 22:36right? Those things go in second.
- 22:38And then we start to plan and plot our weeks and,
- 22:42around those things so that we're not getting caught off guard where,
- 22:47oh, right, my kid has a dentist appointment and I organized this meeting and
- 22:50it's one of my five things and I have to do the...
- 22:52So just sit down on a Sunday night and look at what's coming up in the week.
- 22:58Make sure you plan out your exercise time, plan out what those family obligations
- 23:03are, get everything up on the calendar, and then start to put in the tactics
- 23:08related to these five things.
- 23:10I mean, hopefully Hopefully these five things are like somewhat dialed down,
- 23:13but there might be some like subtasks related to them.
- 23:18So just we're saying you have two weeks.
- 23:20So just spread those tasks across the two weeks.
- 23:24Don't try to put yourself into marathon mode where you're like,
- 23:29I'm just going to put my head down on Tuesday and I'm just going to work for
- 23:3210 hours and get through this stuff. That's not what we're doing here.
- 23:36We're creating like longevity in your business.
- 23:39We're creating sustained focus you
- 23:43can't really expect yourself to sit
- 23:45down and stay focused for 10 hours so
- 23:49spread these things of course you have work obligations as well but I'm gonna
- 23:54actually have you plan this stuff out ahead of those work obligations because
- 24:00we want to start shifting our mindset around like these things need to get done
- 24:05it's not a secondary focus this is a primary focus us.
- 24:09These are goals we're setting in our careers to get us to the next level of our careers.
- 24:15And sometimes that might mean sacrificing some of our current workday to make it happen.
- 24:22Because what happens with everyone is we like to prioritize everybody else's
- 24:29things ahead of what's important to us.
- 24:31And we use it as a self-sabotage mechanism too. We're like, but that person
- 24:35needs that. They need that. They need that. They need that.
- 24:38Well, yes. And also sometimes they can wait.
- 24:41So we need to get ourselves trained into the space of, I have to put the things
- 24:46I know I need to get done on the calendar.
- 24:50And then I can start to lump on the meetings and the other obligations that I have at work.
- 24:58But really, I just want you to get in the mindset of knowing that my things can't shift.
- 25:03My things are non-negotiables and other things have to work around them.
- 25:08And I know that I say this from a very privileged position of running my own
- 25:12business, but it's a mindset thing.
- 25:15It's not something physically you're always going to be able to manage,
- 25:18but it's a mindset of knowing if I want to get this business off the ground
- 25:23and I'm still working this job,
- 25:26there's going to be some need to prioritize certain things if you want different
- 25:32results, which is launching a business.
- 25:34If you want to be able to get yourself there, sometimes you're going to have
- 25:38to make accommodations and you're going to have to...
- 25:42Push things around a little bit because if you're always prioritizing everything
- 25:47else and everybody else, you're just not going to get those five things done
- 25:52and you're not going to have any different results.
- 25:54So just start with that mindset. If it's hard physically to actually get your
- 26:00work in there ahead of the other work, that's okay.
- 26:03It's a work in progress. It's a a journey.
- 26:06But I want you to just think that way out of the box and see what you can do.
- 26:12Just see what flexibility is out there. See what things you might be able to ask about or push.
- 26:19Maybe normally there's a one to two meeting on the books every week.
- 26:23And maybe you ask if it could be a two to three meetings so that you can have
- 26:27a longer lunch break for you to either Either exercise or prioritize this side
- 26:34gig that you're trying to get off the ground.
- 26:36Whatever it is for you, right? We all have our own version of what that could look like.
- 26:40But in order to get those five things done,
- 26:43you're going to have to make some sacrifices and you're going to have to make
- 26:49the time and know in your mind that these are the things that are important to you to elevate.
- 26:56Innovate the last thing I'm going to say about this
- 26:58in terms of like the mindset piece of this shift and
- 27:02of focus and getting to these goals
- 27:05is that it's not always going to feel good so I think we've you know we're in
- 27:12this like Instagram age of you know self-help and everything's happiness and
- 27:17we have to feel good all the time and it's 50 50 and I've said this a lot 50 percent of the time,
- 27:25you're not going to feel great in just in your life.
- 27:28Like that's the average, which means if you are feeling not great about stuff
- 27:35in your new endeavor or in your current business or in whatever the work situation
- 27:40is that you're trying to get to this elevated place that you're trying to get to,
- 27:44if 50% of the time you don't feel good, you're doing it right.
- 27:49If it's hard, if it's draining, if you don't feel that motivated,
- 27:55if you're kind of not inspired, you're doing it right.
- 27:59I don't want you to think that when you get your own business off the ground
- 28:03or you're growing your business that it's all rainbows all the time.
- 28:08I can tell you the stressors I have running my own business are totally different
- 28:13stressors than I had when I was an employee.
- 28:16I have them. And to me, they're much easier. They're there, but they're.
- 28:24Minute, what's the word I'm looking for? They're just really tiny.
- 28:29They're really tiny. They don't overwhelm me or keep me from sleeping,
- 28:33which is so ironic because I thought I would be really scared about income and
- 28:38revenue and clients and that that would keep me up at night.
- 28:41Does not keep me up at night.
- 28:42The things that keep me up at night are much more related to me.
- 28:46Not having the ability to basically talk through issues around things that I
- 28:53think like, you know, need extra attention or whatever,
- 28:56just not having like that level of autonomy to kind of move things forward when
- 29:00you feel like people are, you know, teams are suffering or whatever.
- 29:03Basically that like fighting with leadership teams is what always caused me
- 29:09that stress that kept me up at night.
- 29:11So in any case, you want to make sure that you're, you know,
- 29:16you're being kind to yourself through this process,
- 29:18but you're not always going to feel like 100% happy or 100% motivated or 100%
- 29:25inspired by what you're doing in your side gig.
- 29:29And that's 100% correct.
- 29:33If you're looking for that and you're like, something must be wrong,
- 29:36then let's coach on that because that's something else.
- 29:41If you're having these issues, right? Part of working through these five things
- 29:46over the next two weeks is partially this idea that sometimes Sometimes you're not going to want to.
- 29:51Sometimes it's not going to feel fun. And that's the exercise we're in right
- 29:55now, right? That's the focus.
- 29:57That's what we're trying to do in this last part of the year is like,
- 30:02how close to these goals can we get?
- 30:05It's not a push and it's not a pain, but it is a like, it's going to be uncomfortable sometimes.
- 30:11I can tell you like when athletes are training for the Olympics,
- 30:15it is not all roses and rainbows all the time. Like athletes feel great.
- 30:21They get a lot of, you know, dopamine, right? They're getting a lot of adrenaline.
- 30:27They're getting like pushed with a lot of like amazing, good feeling sensations
- 30:33because they're exercising.
- 30:35But they also don't always feel inspired, right?
- 30:40They don't show up at practice every day and going, oh, I'm so excited to be here.
- 30:45Sometimes it's really hard. Sometimes it's hard to show up.
- 30:48I want you just for two weeks to just say, well, I'm going to show up anyway.
- 30:53I'm going to show up anyway. And I am too. I'm going to commit to this.
- 30:57This is something, and this dog agrees.
- 31:00If you can hear the dog in the background, the dog agrees.
- 31:02The dog's going to show up too. The dog's ready.
- 31:06So we're in it together and I think just knowing that you have people behind
- 31:12you like we're gonna do this together but mainly just that you have your own
- 31:17back you have your own back if if you can't do it one day because it does feel
- 31:22like you're pushing yourself too hard or there's pain,
- 31:26that's when you stop right we're not trying to inflict pain but we know we're
- 31:30just not always going to feel 100% our happiest, but we're not trying to go into pain.
- 31:37And it's the same thing with athletes, right? You push yourself,
- 31:41but if you push yourself to that point of pain, it's time to stop,
- 31:44right? So we're going to go there.
- 31:46That's where we're going to take it. We're going to push ourselves to,
- 31:50and well, I don't want to say push, but like we're going to challenge ourselves to this.
- 31:54We're going to challenge ourselves to get through these five tasks over the
- 31:58next two weeks. We're going to show up for ourselves.
- 32:01We're going to have confidence in ourselves and belief. relief.
- 32:04And when we get those five things done, we're going to celebrate.
- 32:08We're not just going to like, okay, now let's roll into the next five things.
- 32:12That's a high achievers red flag.
- 32:15So we're going to go for two weeks and then we're going to celebrate and we're
- 32:20going to feel really good about what we did.
- 32:23And we're going to make these five things attainable in two weeks.
- 32:26So if you're like, I want to make a million bucks, unless you've made a million
- 32:29bucks before, four, don't put that on the list.
- 32:33What can you reasonably do in two weeks that's moving you towards a bigger goal?
- 32:39What are those five things that's going to create that inertia that's going
- 32:43to get you closer to what that end goal is?
- 32:46I'm going to sit down after this. I'm going to make my list.
- 32:50I'll post it on the blog. You can see what my list is, what my five things are.
- 32:58You And this is how we're going to stay focused going into this like kind of,
- 33:02you know, fresh start, new part of the year, September going into,
- 33:07you know, the last part of third quarter and the fourth quarter.
- 33:11This is how we're going to get there.
- 33:13And it's going to be amazing. And we're going to feel great.
- 33:16And we're going to look back at this in December and go, oh,
- 33:19my God, look at all the five things that I've done, right? Every two weeks, five things.
- 33:25Look at how much I've been able to do and how much closer I am to my goals.
- 33:30That's the feeling I want to evoke.
- 33:32That's where we're going with this. So as always, I hope that was helpful.
- 33:38And I will leave it at that.
- 33:43Is september the time for you to get
- 33:46refocused and re-energized and
