- 0:00The following program is produced by the Tech Talk Radio Network. Hey, folks,
- 0:03this is Sam Kinnison and you're listening tech talk radio right here. You
- 0:08understand that, you cake? Oh oh, welcome to another episode of tech
- 0:17Talk Radio. I'm Andy Taylor, I'm Slick, and I'm justin Lemmy and
- 0:21we have the show that talks about computers, technology and the Internet. Wow,
- 0:26it's been a long time since we actually said that one. Yeah,
- 0:28it's good to see Slick in here as well. He's been out for a
- 0:32few weeks, busy with what O G. Yeah, what do you do?
- 0:35Slick? What would just say? You do here? Yeah? What
- 0:41is it that I do? Uh? Trying to stay out of trouble?
- 0:45It's you know, I'm really deep in politics, and I mean all kinds
- 0:48of politics, housing, politics, technology, transportation. And you're not gonna
- 0:54believe this, but guys, they actually asked me to participate. Look at
- 0:57that. Yeah, wow, it was funny because have you ever seen the
- 1:00meme of Leonardo DiCaprio And I can't remember what movie it is, but he's
- 1:04pointing at the screen like you sees something that he knows that's a once upon
- 1:10a time in Hollywood. Is I never saw that movie. Sometimes I'll be
- 1:12watching the TV news and I'll see a guy there with Slick's hair, and
- 1:15I'll point, there's Slick. Well you've seen that stuff. That's pretty good
- 1:19stuff. But yeah, you've been keeping pretty busy. I know that now,
- 1:23justin you've been pretty busy. It was a tax week this past week,
- 1:26and I was thinking about you while I was doing all my taxes this
- 1:30earlier this week, and the reason, oh, how much money you owe
- 1:34me? Yeah, that too, But no, I was actually thinking about
- 1:41you having a Tesla and you having you know, an electric vehicle. I
- 1:45do believe there are tax incentives that go with that, am I right?
- 1:49Truth be told, the incentives have kind of fallen off. It was kind
- 1:53of big in twenty two and twenty three, and so we got the incentives
- 1:57at the right time because now they're kind of they've they've d d incentive.
- 2:04Is that the right word? Yeah, that would be right, yea yah,
- 2:06yeah yeah yeah, but I mean you still get you still get a
- 2:07tax credit. But yeah, we we got ours at the right time.
- 2:10Part of it, I mean, not to give out too much personal information,
- 2:15but for the first time and like seven or eight years since we lived
- 2:19in Denver, you know, because Lisa is self employed, you know,
- 2:22so she doesn't she doesn't pay taxes, you know, because she works for
- 2:24the Japanese government, and the Japanese government doesn't pay taxes because they're an embassy.
- 2:30So Lisa has to basically be self employed. For the last you know,
- 2:36seven, eight, nine years, whatever it is, we've had to
- 2:38actually pay taxes at the end of the year. This is the first year
- 2:43we actually got a refund because of the Tesla. Wow, that's pretty good.
- 2:46I know people have thought about that, and honestly, you've talked about
- 2:51the Tesla enough that you know that people listening to it or or people that
- 2:54maybe have heard this and gotten themselves won didn't get it just for this tax
- 2:59bet if they got it for the other reasons, which you have been pretty
- 3:02happy with so far. Yeah, I mean, well, I love I
- 3:07absolutely love the Tesla. I mean it's it's an amazing vehicle. I love
- 3:14the features on it. The biggest thing about the Tesla though, was their
- 3:17big selling point about the full self driving and when we first got it,
- 3:23we got three months of free self driving and this is the add on package
- 3:29that they're talking about it costs an extra fifteen thousand dollars to get full self
- 3:35driving, and they're me fifteen grand, yeaheen grand. It's no one time
- 3:40payment. But the thing is is people all the way back from like twenty
- 3:45eighteen have been purchasing this full self driving subscription under the premise that they're going
- 3:53to actually get full self driving, and it is not yet, even to
- 3:59this data, this recording, it's not available completely. Tesla keeps improving upon
- 4:05the full self driving, but it's never been completely available to the public.
- 4:10And to give you a little bit of background, when we first got the
- 4:14Tesla and again we did have the three month trial of self full self driving,
- 4:21we took it on a trip to Colorado Springs. So we went from
- 4:25Denver to Colorado Springs. The car tried to kill us three different times.
- 4:30Oh it it would immediately like we were in the far right lane and it
- 4:38decided, Hey, there's an h V lane, I'm going to go to
- 4:42the HV lane, and it just went right across all four lanes of the
- 4:46interstate into the HIV almost getting us in an accident and throwing us into the
- 4:50wall. And so I was like, this is this is ridiculous. This
- 4:55is like, this is definitely not ready for prime time, Like this is
- 4:59not something that should have ever been offered to people. But as technology advances,
- 5:06and the way that things go is like with Microsoft with when they roll
- 5:12out new version of Windows or you know other things that go on, they
- 5:15use the public as a beta tester and you're not getting paid for it.
- 5:20Like so the more you use it, the more that they're gonna learn from
- 5:26it. And they're because every time that I would have full self driving turned
- 5:30on and I would have to take control again, it would always ask me,
- 5:34way full self driving was disabled, what happened? Press the press the
- 5:39microphone button and tell us what happened. So I would say, yeah,
- 5:43the car tried to kill me, and they would automatically send them a message.
- 5:48And they would also take the recordings of the cameras because remember there's like
- 5:53seventeen cameras around the car, So they would take all that information and they
- 5:58would probably learn from it. But as of April twenty four, just a
- 6:02couple of weeks ago, they released version twelve point three point four and operating
- 6:11system or is it self driving? Self driving? The self driving operating system?
- 6:15Now what we're gonna say, it's so bizarre that we never thought,
- 6:19you know, with a car. I grew up, you know, I
- 6:21had a Vega, a Monte Carlo, and we talked about cars one day
- 6:26and to the idea that a car would get actually a software update. It's
- 6:30just, oh, it happens. It's just so bizarre now that the cars
- 6:32are doing that. Yeah, it happens all the time. I mean we
- 6:34get one probably every other week or so. But we did the update and
- 6:40we noticed that the full self driving it used to say full self driving beta.
- 6:45Now it says full self driving supervised. So we're like, oh,
- 6:49did we move out of the beta stage? I was like, okay,
- 6:53but we had long passed that free subscription. However, mister Musk decided to
- 7:00give every single Tesla owner another month of free self driving to test the new
- 7:06version because he's like, hey, we've improved, and I'm like, all
- 7:11right, let me test it. You're really gonna put your hands well,
- 7:15I mean, I've I've learned, I've learned to definitely. I mean,
- 7:16obviously, when it says full self driving, they always say be you know,
- 7:20do not be complacent, be be there, be active, keep your
- 7:25hand yeah. Keep well, I mean, that's happened and people have died,
- 7:29but keep your hands on the wheel, keep control of the vehicle,
- 7:31like, pay attention to what's going around you, and then you know,
- 7:34we'll see what happens. So I was like, all right, let's let's
- 7:38figure this out. So we actually drove from from Denver to Broomfield, which
- 7:42Broomfield is a little bit like northwest of Denver, like halfway between here and
- 7:45Boulder, and I decided, okay, I'm gonna turn on full self driving.
- 7:48Let's see what happens. I backed out of my driveway right and I
- 7:53turned on immediately. Well, first off, I gotta say this. I
- 7:56had to put in the destination obviously, because the car's got to know where
- 7:59it's to go. So I put in the destination. As soon as I
- 8:01backed out of my driveway, I turned on full self driving. The car
- 8:05drove itself out of the alleyway, pulled onto the city street or the neighborhood
- 8:11street, then pulled onto the city streets, and it literally drove itself all
- 8:16the way there with minimal input, and it actually wasn't as aggressive. It
- 8:22didn't actually try to kill us, which was the first thing. My wife
- 8:26was sitting in the front seat like no, no, no, no,
- 8:28don't do this, don't do this. I'm like, no, no,
- 8:30hold on. I like technology. I want to see what this can do.
- 8:33And she's like, you better be paying attention, you better pay attention.
- 8:35But no, I was paying attention the entire time. But the car
- 8:39actually drove itself, and not only did it get onto the interstate, get
- 8:43off of the interstate, it went on city streets, It went through a
- 8:46roundabout without me having to control anything, and it actually pulled into the parking
- 8:52lot of the I guess you'd call it a strip mall and where we were
- 8:58going for dinner, and it found a parking spot that was right in front
- 9:01of the place, and it actually parked itself. And I was like,
- 9:05oh, whoa, what just happened. That is pretty amazing. Is it
- 9:09something that you would think is worth fifteen thousand dollars? Oh? Absolutely not.
- 9:13Yeah, no, no, But here's the thing. Elon. Elon
- 9:18actually came out and said, like, again, the thing is is he
- 9:22wants everybody to pay fifteen thousand dollars for the self driving. But then he
- 9:26kind of backtracked and said, all right, fine, it's gonna cost you
- 9:28two hundred dollars a month. And now he's backtracked even more and said,
- 9:35it's only going to cost you one hundred dollars a month, and it's a
- 9:37it can be a monthly subscription. So if we go on a long road
- 9:41trip, I could literally just buy one month of full self driving and let
- 9:48the car drive itself the entire trip. I mean, obviously I'm gonna be
- 9:50sitting there, but I have done this before with the Tesla. We drove
- 9:54it to South Dakota and I used the full self driving. This was back
- 9:58when we actually had that subscription UH given to us. I the trip was
- 10:05like six and a half hours. Right we got done with the trip,
- 10:07I wasn't even fatigued because the fact is, I, yes, I had
- 10:11to pay attention, but I didn't have to pay one hundred percent attention,
- 10:16Like I didn't have to constantly make sure the vehicle was in the lane.
- 10:22The car did it itself. So when I got done with that six and
- 10:24a half hour trip, I was still feeling fine. Like normally I would
- 10:30feel tired, I felt fine. Yeah, I saw even though they call
- 10:33it like self full self driving, is it sounds like you buy your description
- 10:37that it's more like driver assist. Really, I mean, you know,
- 10:41well you're just singing on the Yeah. No, here's my question you were
- 10:43talking about. You know they can I got to remember this. They were
- 10:46saying, you know, it's a self driving car, but please keep your
- 10:48hands on the wheel. So are they telling you to keep your hands atten
- 10:52and two? Basically the entire time, it's as they say in the paperwork
- 10:56in terms of service. They they tell you to keep your hands on the
- 11:00wheel. And here's the thing. This is how they know that you're doing
- 11:01it. First off, there is a camera in the cockpit of the vehicle
- 11:05that watches where your eyes are looking. Now, if you're having sunglasses on,
- 11:09it really can't tell where you're looking, but it tracks the motions of
- 11:13your head. So as long as you're looking, you know, pretty much
- 11:16straightforward, it thinks that you're looking at the road. If I turn my
- 11:22head. I've tested this. I've turned my head and I've looked at my
- 11:24wife in the front seat for about ten or so seconds as the car's driving.
- 11:30Now, I'm my head is turned towards my wife, but my eyes
- 11:33are pointed left. I'm looking at the road. But I've turned my head
- 11:39and the car's like, hey, keep your eyes on the road. Really,
- 11:43so it tells you. It says, hey, keep your eyes on
- 11:45the road. And also you have to keep your hand on the wheel because
- 11:48the wheel does you know, as it turns, it's looking for feedback from
- 11:54you. So if you have your hand on the wheel and the wheel starts
- 11:58to turn, there's going to be a natural hesitation on the wheel turning because
- 12:03it senses the weight of your hand. Now people have gotten by this by
- 12:09putting a water bottle in the steering wheel, like they shove a water bottle
- 12:13in there, and that counterbalances the force feedback. So then the car thinks,
- 12:18oh, yeah, you're holding on to the wheel when you're really not.
- 12:22Now I'm not condoning that, but I've tried it and it works.
- 12:26But yes, I keep my hand. What I do is I just literally
- 12:28rest my elbow on the door sill and I keep my hand around seven o'clock
- 12:35on the wheel. And it works because once the wheel starts to turn,
- 12:39my hand is there, and it's like, oh, yep, yep,
- 12:41yep, yep, you're still watching, You're still on the road, yep.
- 12:43I don't know justin I've done long drives. I've done drives to Know
- 12:48from Palm Springs all the way to New Orleans. I've done drives to Dallas
- 12:52a couple of times. I just love driving. I love that experience of
- 12:56holding the wheel, hitting me a brake, hit the accelerator. You know,
- 13:01I don't well, I won't say that, but don't I don't enjoy
- 13:03that. I don't don't enjoy Like even Idaho, it's the twenty three hour
- 13:09drive. Was like, it was great. It's great for like the first
- 13:11couple hours and then I'm like, jeez, I just want to get there,
- 13:15you know, wow, But no, But I mean, honestly,
- 13:18this new version that came out with again they went from beta to supervised,
- 13:22which is a step up. It is actually much better. Now there's a
- 13:28caveat to that. People have been recently reporting that the Teslas take corners too
- 13:33sharp and they end up scratching the rims of the car, so it's basically
- 13:39running up on the curb of things. And I noticed this when we went
- 13:43through the roundabout. It was taking that corner pretty sharp, and I'm like,
- 13:46ooh, God, old God, old God of God. Thank God,
- 13:48it didn't hit the curb, but I was like, yo, dude,
- 13:52you're taking that corner really really sharp. But people have been reporting that,
- 13:56you know, it's scraping the tires, it's scraping the and as somebody
- 14:01who actually had to have a complete rim and tire replacement on the Tesla,
- 14:07I can understand this, like I can understand the frustration about that. And
- 14:11people are actually looking at suing Tesla to say, you know, you got
- 14:16to replace these tires and rims because this is your self driving thing, and
- 14:20Tesla's like, no, we're not going to pay for that, but it's
- 14:24their fault. Speaking of lawsuits, have there been any cases that you know
- 14:28about where maybe self driving, Yeah, has done something where even somebody that
- 14:35was being diligent and you know, it put him in a situation that harmed
- 14:39them. Yeah. I mean there was the very super famous one just a
- 14:43few weeks ago that Tesla actually settled out of court back in I want to
- 14:48say, oh gosh, I don't know. Twenty twenty one, maybe there
- 14:52was a Silicon Valley engineer who was driving in Silicon Valley and he was known
- 15:00to be playing video games on his phone. Now I don't know what the
- 15:03situation behind the reason why, but the car ended up drifting into a lane
- 15:09because it couldn't detect the road markings, and so the car drifted out and
- 15:15hit a barrier and killed the man, and the family of the man sued
- 15:20Tesla, and Tesla was like, nope, because the guy wasn't paying attention.
- 15:24We have records of we have video camera that this guy was not paying
- 15:31attention. But then finally Tesla was like, all right, fine, you
- 15:35know what, We're gonna settle out a court. Now. We don't know
- 15:37what the sum of the money was that the family got, but yes,
- 15:41Tesla has been sued because of this. But the thing is is a lot
- 15:46of people try to sue Tesla and they're like, we have video evidence that
- 15:50you were not doing what we told you to do. And people get an
- 15:54accidents and they're like, well, actually self driving was dis abled three seconds
- 16:00before the accident. What the heck? How am I supposed to respond within
- 16:06three seconds, you know, to stop the car from killing me, you
- 16:10know, when you're so hurtling along at fifty miles an hour, yeah,
- 16:12or seventy five miles an hour whatever, you know, Like, so there's
- 16:15a lot of things that Tesla still needs to improve on, but I do
- 16:19got to say that this latest update was really, really good. And it
- 16:25brings me to one other quick little topic about that is that you know,
- 16:30we hear about all the horror stories of Tesla, we hear about what I
- 16:33just talked about. Yeah, there's actually a good story. There was a
- 16:37story that just hit the news last week about Tesla full self driving actually saved
- 16:44a man's life. Really, so, this this man, he was a
- 16:48model why, which is what we have a model why. He lives in
- 16:52Asheville, North Carolina. He actually had a heart attack, a mild heart
- 16:57attack, right, and he chose his Tesla. Now, this guy apparently
- 17:03is rich because he's got Porsche's and BMW's and Accuras and Cadillacs and things like
- 17:07that. But he chose his Tesla and he told it drive me to the
- 17:10VA hospital, which was thirteen miles away from his house, and he had
- 17:14the latest update, and the car drove him straight to the emergency room.
- 17:18Because this man couldn't do it. He was still conscious, but he was,
- 17:23like you know, obviously having a mild heart attack. The car drove
- 17:29him to the emergency room, dropped him off at the emergency room, and
- 17:32then went and parked itself. It had the wait, oh that's a great
- 17:37story. Sorry, he literally told, because again I'm asking, I don't
- 17:41never I've been in a Tesla, but I haven't used one. Are you
- 17:45able to sit in the driver's seat and say take me to the circle?
- 17:48K? Well, no, you I mean you have to like open up
- 17:52the navigation maps and tell it what your destination is. I mean, yes,
- 17:56I mean I guess you could say in the voice chat, you know,
- 18:00you know, navigate to hospital, and it would find the closest one
- 18:03and it would load it would load up the navigation and then you would just
- 18:07have to simply enable the full self driving by pressing down on the drive stock.
- 18:14Now, the right side stick is where you choose you know, reverse,
- 18:18neutral drive. If you tap twice on that stick, it enables the
- 18:22full self driving mode. How is far me down? We've seen the price
- 18:26of gasoline going up, and it's probably gonna go up a little more.
- 18:30People in California are nearing six dollars seventy five cents a gallon for gas.
- 18:34How is that in relation? Now that you've been driving it for a while,
- 18:38and I like to do these updates to see if your experience how that's
- 18:41been pairing out for people that maybe are thinking about it. Has it been
- 18:47a money saver with Absolver? Yeah? Absolutely. Now we did install we
- 18:52we did actually install a two hundred and forty volt forty eight amp charger,
- 18:57the actual home charger in our home because the standard one hundred and ten volt
- 19:03outlet that comes with it charger this doesn't really cut it, and so we
- 19:08did install an aftermarket, you know, actual charger. With that being said,
- 19:14we have saved probably hundreds of dollars in gas. Wow. Because now
- 19:22now here's there's a caveat to this. Because you're saving money on gas doesn't
- 19:25mean you're saving everything. Because one thing is you're you're obviously you're paying more
- 19:30for registration because the vehicle you don't have to pay for gas tax because part
- 19:37of your registration comes from the gas tax, and if you have an electric
- 19:41vehicle, you don't have to pay gas tax, so they charge you more.
- 19:45So our first year registration when we bought the car, I want to
- 19:49say, it was fifteen one hundred dollars, oh my lord, for one
- 19:52year. Wow. But we also don't have to pay for gas. Now
- 19:57another caveat to that is we also don't have to pay for maintenance, like
- 20:00there's no oil changes, there's no uh, you know, they're the only
- 20:04fluid you have in a Tesla is your windshiw wipe or fluid. But I've
- 20:10wondered about that. But I have questions for you later. Okay, But
- 20:12but here's the thing. Because the Tesla is so heavy. I mean,
- 20:18you're talking about a model Y is like a simple like well, it's kind
- 20:23of a hatchback. I guess it's a four seater hatchback. But that thing
- 20:27is almost a ton because of the fact that it has the battery pack.
- 20:32You the one thing that you are going through more than anything else your tires,
- 20:37because that car is so heavy and it's got so much torque that if
- 20:42you try to gun it off the line every single time, you're burning through
- 20:45those tires like crazy. And those tires are not cheap. I never even
- 20:51thought about that part of that. Have you seen the and I know it's
- 20:55like you had another question for him, but have you seen the Tesla cyber
- 20:57truck because people have spotting them here and they are post the photos up on
- 21:03socials. I don't know. It's like, have you seen one yet,
- 21:07I've seen I don't think I've seen a cyber truck in Tucson, but I've
- 21:12seen multiple rivians. My one of one of my co workers, the guy
- 21:18that actually works within our IT department, he actually said he actually saw a
- 21:22cyber truck for the first time in Denver and he was like, Wow,
- 21:26that thing looks pretty cool. I've personally I said, it's hideous looking.
- 21:30Oh no, it definitely is hideous looking, but he said, it looks
- 21:36you know, it's it's It was interesting because it was so you know,
- 21:38it stood out so much from the crowd. But I've personally never seen a
- 21:45cyber truck in person. Huh. It would be uh, it'd be interesting
- 21:48to check that one out. And I can imagine you look at the the
- 21:52Y and it looks like a basic car, the model WHI. You look
- 21:57at the cyber truck. That looks like it's gonna be even heavier. Oh
- 22:00yeah, the cyber truck is I think it's about two tons actually, because
- 22:04it's got almost double the battery pack of what a Model Y has. Right,
- 22:11I don't know exactly, I don't know the exact specifications, but yes,
- 22:14it's definitely heavier. But here's the thing about the cyber truck too.
- 22:17They were they were, you know, they're all touting about the cyber truck
- 22:19as being like this off road vehicle and you can go camping with it,
- 22:23and then they go and people go and test it, and they show videos
- 22:26of the cyber truck getting stuck on a regular hill when like a typical like
- 22:33Forerunner or whatever can just blow by it. And they're like, what the
- 22:37heck, because the cyber truck is so heavy. A little bit it does,
- 22:44and I mean it's made of steel. I mean it's not like aluminum
- 22:48panels or whatever. It's made of solid steel with with double the battery pack
- 22:52of a Model Y. So yeah, it's super heavy. So these things
- 22:56do not handle very well when you're not on pavement. They're not made for
- 23:00off road. Now, slick you, we're gonna ask a question about fluids
- 23:03in the vehicle. Well, not necessarily fluids, but I've had some conversations
- 23:07with electric electric vehicle drivers and owners as well as hybrids, So so number
- 23:14one, the only the first thing I want to throw out there is we're
- 23:15probably familiar with this how long have you had this Tesla? We got it
- 23:22in August of twenty three, okay, because I remember the guy that had
- 23:27like an old Tesla and to replace the battery cost him what fifteen to twenty
- 23:33grand, and instead of doing that, he circled it with dynamite and blew
- 23:36it up. Oh my lord. Oh you guys haven't seen that video.
- 23:41Yeah, it is amazing. He said, I'm not paying fifteen twenty grand
- 23:45and replace the batteries. It's not gonna happen. But I was talking to
- 23:49and I didn't even think about this because even I was like, all right,
- 23:52you know, there's gotta be some maintenance, but it's not gonna be
- 23:55a lot of maintenance. What I did find that from some owners of hybrids
- 23:59is, and I don't know if this applies to Tesla. You tell me
- 24:02that regenerative regenerative braking that that you have where when you let up off the
- 24:07gas pedal if you will, oh, the accelerator, Yeah, that it
- 24:11as it breaks, it recharges the battery. I've been told by some owners
- 24:17and drivers that replacing those brakes can be like six grand. Oh my gosh,
- 24:22wow, oh wow. So yeah, we kind of question to you.
- 24:27Yeah, Well, so here's the thing when you're talking about regenitive,
- 24:30regenerative. Yeah, that's a hard way to say. Yeah. Uh.
- 24:36The braking system, it's actually not using the brakes when you do that,
- 24:41when you let so. First off, you got to understand the Tesla is
- 24:47basically it's a one pedal driving system. You don't necessarily need your break.
- 24:52Okay, when you let off the gas pedal, the motors themselves provide resistance,
- 25:00and that is what's recharging your battery. It's not the braking system that's
- 25:07recharging your battery. The braking system only kicks in when you actually hit the
- 25:11brake pedal. Wow, by just simply letting go of the gas pedal.
- 25:18Yes, it does slow down, it does break and I very rarely ever
- 25:22have to actually use the braking system. It does take a little bit of
- 25:26getting used to because you have to kind of you have to learn when to
- 25:30judge based on your speed, when to let up on the gas, to
- 25:36know when it's going to stop. And I've gotten actually pretty good at that.
- 25:37It takes a couple of months or whatever of driving. All right,
- 25:41we got to take a break, we come back. Listener question from Scott
- 25:45we'll share that We've got more to talk about, including a brand new TV
- 25:48show that Justin is pretty happy about. Uh, and Slick is got some
- 25:52info about streaming. What is an up and coming streamer that people are saying,
- 25:57Hey, you've been around a long time, this one should be up
- 26:00on top. We'll tell you that about that more coming up with tech talk
- 26:03Radio. I'm Andy Taylor and I'm Justin. Let me find us on the
- 26:06web at tech talk radio dot com. We'll be right back now back to
- 26:11tech talk Radio. All right. We had a listener question from Scott in
- 26:15Tucson, who said, over the years, I have had a habit of
- 26:19adding drives. I have a five terabyte and a two terabyte and have the
- 26:25same files on all of my drives. Oh. I feel while my data
- 26:30is safe, I also have the same data everywhere. I want to organize
- 26:34it, but I need a program to look for duplicate files. Any recommendations
- 26:40you know? Uh, does that mean like an eas us thing or something?
- 26:45Or what about a year and a half ago and I know it's still
- 26:48available. I took a look at it is Roxios NXT nine ROXI is still
- 26:55around. Yeah, Yeah, Well they got bought up by Correl, So
- 26:59NXT nine Correla still around. Yes, they even got a new Correl draw
- 27:03version that's out now, and it's like one of the few program I love
- 27:07it because it's one of the few programs that is. They probably have it.
- 27:11But they're saying this program is now available, blah blah blah, but
- 27:14they don't mention AI at least none of the things. Because everybody's talking about
- 27:18AI and it's getting so frustrating. It is getting just ridiculous. So going
- 27:22back to the Rocksio thing, right, Okay, so yeah, so NXT
- 27:26nine Pro has tools that you can run that will do bulk file renaming,
- 27:32but it will also do bulk duplicate filefinders. Now the thing is, I
- 27:37like it, but it's not as full powered as I had hoped it would
- 27:42be, but it will still if you want to look for a program that
- 27:45will help you organize your audio, help you organize photos, help you basically
- 27:51you know, if you want to create a DVD or create a BLU ray,
- 27:55you could do that all with NXT nine Pro and it will do a
- 27:59duplicate file program that's in there. There are some programs you might want to
- 28:03take a look at Alternative two dot net. You'll find some programs in there
- 28:07that are shareware or freeware that you may be able to find to do the
- 28:11same thing, but just a lot of things are open source. Now.
- 28:15Yeah, the one thing about NXC nine is so I can say, what
- 28:19I would recommend is put everything that you know is photos in a folder.
- 28:23Then take the other one photos and put that in another folder. Then combine
- 28:29them and it will find those duplicates that are within those two folders, and
- 28:33it will give you the different range. Like I tried this on one of
- 28:36them because I have just so many pictures spread out and it would like five
- 28:40different versions of the same picture. So I'm I'm looking at a couple different
- 28:45open source ones here, all right, I see, you know. Basically,
- 28:49here's what I did, Scott. I I just went to Google and
- 28:52I just typed in open source duplicate file finder, okay, and it brought
- 29:00me to a couple different websites. Right now, I'm on SourceForge dot net
- 29:03and it's talking about duplicate files Finder. There's it links you to the project
- 29:07a Swiss file Knife, Media file Duplicate Finder g duplicate Finder. There's a
- 29:15ton of these things out there, and if you look at the reviews on
- 29:18the different particular projects, you could probably find one that would work for you.
- 29:23And again, being that it's open source, you don't actually have to
- 29:29pay for it. Now, another one that's really good is dupe guru,
- 29:33and that's the rupe Yeah, d u p e g u r U dupe
- 29:38guru. And it's a cross platform so it runs on Linux, mac Os,
- 29:45Windows, and it's a guy type of tool, so you actually can
- 29:51you know, graphical user interface, you can see it and it will find
- 29:53duplicate files in a system. It's mostly written in Python three, but you
- 29:57don't really need to, you know, be conscious of that. Dupe Gurro
- 30:02seems to actually be pretty cool too. Actually I'm looking that it is right
- 30:06now. Do you have to be careful with some open source, especially if
- 30:08you're googling like you're doing, you kind of know what you're looking at,
- 30:11and you know, follow up in the reviews and whatnot. That's why I
- 30:14like alternative to dot net because a lot of that the software that's on there
- 30:17has been vetted, and you know, just doing a straight off Google find
- 30:22is real difficult, especially if it says sponsored you got to be really careful
- 30:26of those ones. Yes, that's a good way of getting malware and ransomware
- 30:30and whatnot, because anybody can pay a sponsored advertisement exactly. I've even had
- 30:34drive by attacks, you know, on a browser, just with sponsored links
- 30:38that pop up. Yep. So again you something you want to be careful
- 30:41for. But again there are those options if you don't want to pay for
- 30:45it. I really do like rox ceo NXT nine pro. I do because
- 30:49it does so much. I just wish the dupe file program file finder was
- 30:55a little more robust, especially if you're, you know, gonna work on
- 30:57photos first then video, like actually giving you a representation. I noticed that
- 31:03when I went to the profile or the preview where you can actually get a
- 31:07preview of it, sometimes the buffer would fill up and you would beat the
- 31:11leading files and they wouldn't go away, so you'd have to close it reopen
- 31:15it. But again it's still a it's still a pretty dark good program.
- 31:18Now Roxio does cost money. It's not freeware. It definitely is a Okay,
- 31:23yes, you're look at about a hud bucks for the software. Okay,
- 31:26so yeah, you could you could go that route, or you could
- 31:29also go the open source. But as Andy mentioned, you know, just
- 31:33make sure you look at your you know, research, make sure that the
- 31:37program that you're downloading downloading is legit. But yeah, you should be able
- 31:41to figure something out between these two different recommendations. But it doesn't hurt to
- 31:47have two copies. Also, I don't you know, he's like running into
- 31:52that situation where he's got a drive with this and a drive with that.
- 31:55Okay, so you got backups. Yeah, but you don't want to exact
- 32:01same copy too as well. I mean, these programs, I'm assuming they'll
- 32:06they'll be looking at different at least different sizes and different dates, even though
- 32:09the file has the same name. Well, I mean, if you're looking
- 32:13at a really good program and I don't know exactly how rock Seal works or
- 32:15Duke Guro, but they're going to look at the bits of each of those
- 32:20files, and if they age about that the actual bits match up, they're
- 32:23going to be like, well, this is an exact duplicate, right,
- 32:27So yeah, I don't know. There's one other listener question, uh Darlee
- 32:31and green Valley all I mentioned, Uh, my husband and I have been
- 32:36using PC since Windows XP, and over the years we've put lots of photos
- 32:39and documents on small discatts, like the the one point four four floppy yes,
- 32:46or I guess yeah, I don't. Okay, all right, I
- 32:51was going through our storage and found a box of them with labels Disc one,
- 32:54Disc two. Problem is I don't have a computer with a disc reader
- 32:58to see what's on these. Are there verses that can recover these? I'm
- 33:02sure there are definitely services out there. However, you can most likely buy
- 33:08a floppy disc reader that has like a USB interface, like an external reader
- 33:15that you could get off of Amazon for probably ten or twenty bucks. Yeah.
- 33:19I've actually got one of those, and I love Okay, it's cheat.
- 33:22It was cheap, Yeah, it's like exactly. I think it was
- 33:23like maybe nineteen dollars. Uh, And it's great. This plugs in USB
- 33:28port. I popped the disc get in and I can. I could read
- 33:30it, get stuff off of it if I need to. And it all
- 33:35depends on how these were stored too. You found them in a storage shed.
- 33:38You know, hopefully there's still because some of those discutts, the one
- 33:42point four fours didn't last that long. Yeah, well, here's the thing.
- 33:45They're putting lots of photos on these? What quality photos are these?
- 33:52Because discuts only hold like you said, one point four to four megabytes.
- 33:55Yeah, that's like cameras from like the nineteen seventy or eighties or whatever.
- 34:00I mean, I mean it is really, honestly, I mean, but
- 34:04I'm not I'm not I'm not trying to like discount Darlene, you know,
- 34:07or anything like that. But I'm just saying, like, you really can't
- 34:09put a lot of photos on a disckette. And now, where where can
- 34:14you buy? If she wasn't you know, this is curiosity. I've done
- 34:16that before, where you're curious, like what's on this? What's on this?
- 34:21Yeah? Where could she buy one of these usb uh floppy readers?
- 34:24Just jump right? What's the what's the local store there in Tucson? I
- 34:29mean I'm in Denver, I don't know. There's there's one here in Green
- 34:32Valley as well. There's a computer store that that that might be able to
- 34:37get some of that stuff too, So you know what, And honestly,
- 34:39I would I wouldn't say just go to that computer store because it is a
- 34:43mom and pop shop, and if they don't have it, I bet you
- 34:45they could probably order something for you, yeah, or they may they may
- 34:49even just say, hey, for a couple of bucks, we'll we'll pull
- 34:51everything off those discs. But if it's you know, I'm thinking of its
- 34:53slip labeled disc one, two three, it could be install software, yep,
- 34:58you know, I mean that's what it kind of would sound like,
- 35:00a little me like, oh, this is this order backup off off a
- 35:04computer as well? Could be you know, but curiosity could be fun though,
- 35:07Like you know what they say, Yeah, curiosity killed the cat.
- 35:12Yeah, so you know careful, Yeah I killed the hard drive. Yeah,
- 35:17exactly. Now, slick, you were gonna tell us a little bit
- 35:20about this story about you know, when it comes to streaming that Forbes have
- 35:24put together. And I think a lot of our listeners right now, I
- 35:29think some of you are very savvy, uh and you know that, yeah,
- 35:32you know you can get you know, Netflix, you know, you
- 35:35can get Hulu, Disney Paramount Plus on your services and you pay a subscription
- 35:42for those. But did you know there are free choices that offer a lot
- 35:46of programming that you might be surprised at. Yeah, and I know it's
- 35:52going to come to a huge surprise to some of you, but you know,
- 35:54at my core and in my heart and in my wallet. I'm a
- 35:58cheapskate. Uh yeah, I like all the free stuff, and you know,
- 36:02and I would like to get paid, you know, for it,
- 36:06rather than pay out. And especially with all these streaming services everybody, I
- 36:09mean, I couldn't afford the the what is it the the Disney couldn't afford
- 36:15the Hulu, it couldn't afford to and Netflix says, what are they losing
- 36:20their mind? What's wrong with these people? And they'll get Amazon Amazon Prime
- 36:22if you want that. That's true too. I'm trying to Yeah, those
- 36:27are some of the majors that I can think of than this paramount. Oh
- 36:29and now Peacock all of a sudden, now they don't you know, they
- 36:31want to charge too NBC. So it started out the old I'm gonna consider
- 36:37them the OG. There may be older, older aggregators as I call them,
- 36:40than this one, but for me, the ol G of a free
- 36:45streaming services if you will, that have a bunch of channels, if you
- 36:51will, it's Pluto TV. That was the thing that yeah, yeah,
- 36:55that was the first one. I remember. If you're somebody that maybe you
- 37:00have Internet provided by your cable company, or you have you know, through
- 37:06some of the service you have Internet, but you don't want to You didn't
- 37:08want to pay for the box, you don't want to pay for the cable
- 37:13channels. You don't Maybe it's not needed that you get an antenna. Although
- 37:16antennas can give you access to like whether you're using UH like the one that
- 37:22the tableau, which I absolutely love, you get access to other channels that
- 37:25they're feeding as well. But with Pluto TV, it's amazing because you go
- 37:31to their website on your smart TV or connected device and you're gonna be amazed
- 37:37at what programs are available. There are stuff to keep you busy. And
- 37:42now you know, once I've learned about Pluto TV and then heard about some
- 37:45others, so I did for myself, well you know, selfishly, of
- 37:49course, more than anything, to find out what else was out there,
- 37:52What other services are out there that are free, that that are good.
- 37:54Okay, So I'm gonna I'm gonna just rattle them off. They all have
- 37:59their their their UH negatives and positives. But Pluto TV number one, I'm
- 38:04gonna say, is is that one of the top UH services because it is
- 38:08very easy to navigate. Now, the other ones that I use on a
- 38:12regular consistent basis are and we've talked about some of these services before different ways.
- 38:17There's to Be to Be Yeah. To B has a lot of movies
- 38:21of a surprise. Yeah, there's Zoomo x Umo. Yeah check that one.
- 38:27You know. I did hear that Exfinity was talking about possibly carrying Zumo
- 38:31as it's one of its options. Yeah, if they haven't purchased it,
- 38:36I thought they were in the attempting to buy them, you know. And
- 38:39Zoomo if you look in some of the stores, Zoomo's now on TVs.
- 38:43Like you have your Amazon Fire TV, now you have your Zoomo TV as
- 38:45well, right right. And then there's one that you know, initially because
- 38:50of the name, people were ignoring because it started out initially for the device,
- 38:54but now it's available as an app. So the Roku channel. I
- 38:58don't know if you guys are trying that one. Yeah, yep, No,
- 39:01I haven't met yet. No you really should because they I mean,
- 39:05and when it comes to navigation, I said, Pluto TV is easy to
- 39:08navigate, so is the Roku channel because you just you go left and then
- 39:13you can get the channel list and then scroll up and down. Yeah,
- 39:15you're not. You're not talking about You're not talking about just one channel.
- 39:20You're talking about channels that specialize in sports or crafts or your favorite movie cars,
- 39:27your old cars, old movies as well old TV series like I don't
- 39:30know if Bewitches on there, but you know, I dream the genie stuff
- 39:34like that. Yeah, and streaming music videos and music channels. I hate
- 39:38those things. What I get those on my Comcast and I'm like, oh,
- 39:43just I just want to avoid that. I love the fact that YouTube
- 39:49TV now offers like MTV with like the actual like music videos. No they
- 39:52don't really, yes they do. They have like and I think it's actually
- 39:57just the actual network like MTV. I I double checked. It wasn't like
- 40:00MTV seven or eight, right, you know, it was like MTV was
- 40:05like I want my eighties and all it was for like three straight hours,
- 40:08was just music videos of eighties music. And I'm like, all, thank
- 40:14God, come back. But one thing about Pluto TV, and Pluto has
- 40:19been around what ten years I think in its history, and again if you'll
- 40:24be surprised, if you're a listener and you've never gone to it, you
- 40:28want to check out Pluto TV if you have a smart TV. Uh,
- 40:31even if your smartphone you could do it, or even on your tablet.
- 40:36But if you get there, you're gonna be like, whoa, I get
- 40:38all these different options to watch. They're owned by Viacom. Viacom bought them
- 40:44I think April of last year and now they've That means that they've got all
- 40:50the paramount programming available, and how they make their money is ads. You're
- 40:54gonna you're gonna watch ads just like you just like you would on regular television.
- 40:59You're gonna see these ads bathroom break exactly. And you'll get shows like
- 41:05NCIS CSI and a bunch of movies too. But here's the thing. I
- 41:10know. You have to watch ads on a streaming platform. What I love
- 41:15about a streaming platform when it does show you the ads, it tells you
- 41:20exactly how much time you have before the show comes back on. I love
- 41:24that. Yeah. I'm like, oh, I got five minutes. I
- 41:27can go on and go go do my you know, bathroom business for a
- 41:31few minutes. If I need to get a snack or something like or get
- 41:34a snack, yeah, because I've got oh I got five minutes, I
- 41:36can come back all right out of all of these, like before we take
- 41:38a break, which one would you recommend to some of our listeners that maybe
- 41:45want to watch TV and experience streaming TV that they're not paying for. The
- 41:49top two for me right now a Pluto TV and the Roku channel because you
- 41:52don't need to log in and sign up. You don't need to do it.
- 41:55Zumo you don't need to log in and sign up. To B you
- 41:58don't need to log and sign up. Some many others you gotta watch out
- 42:00for them Plex you don't need to log into side up. But some of
- 42:02the other like freeb which is the Amazon version. I tried to use it
- 42:07without logging in and it wouldn't let me. Oh really it that tracks you?
- 42:12Yeah, okay because they sell your data justin Did you have a channel
- 42:15that maybe you were into? I personally do like Pluto. I have used
- 42:20Pluto before and I think that's a really really good option. I like to
- 42:23B for the movies cause you can fight movies that maybe aren't streaming on any
- 42:27other devices. You may find available for you on TV something to check out.
- 42:30If you have any questions, feel free to drop us an email.
- 42:34Tech Guys at tech Talk radio dot Com. Quick break will be back.
- 42:37I'm Andy Taylor, I am Slick, and I'm Dustin. Send us an
- 42:40X at tech talk Radio. We'll be right back and that back to tech
- 42:45Talk Radio. I love this the current digital TV ATSC two point zero and
- 42:51I'm looking forward to the future stuff coming which I got a feeling that you
- 42:55were heading that direction with your comment and your thoughts. Well, I mean
- 43:00ATSC three point zero is actually out. I mean it is available in a
- 43:06lot of different markets, but it is the new standard. But the problem
- 43:10is, you know, broadcast over the air television, although it is free
- 43:15to everybody because that is FCC law that you have to provide free over the
- 43:22air television, it can't compete with with with these streaming services because of the
- 43:28most of the fact is because of the DVR capabilities. You know, with
- 43:31a streaming service, you miss something, you can just rewind it, go
- 43:35right back to it, rebuffer with your internet connection, and bam, you're
- 43:37back where you need to be. But with over the air television you can't
- 43:40because it's live and once it happens, it happens, you're done. But
- 43:45there's a new technology coming out from a company called Roxy all right, and
- 43:51this is integrating with ATSC three point zero televisions to give over the air televisions
- 43:58a bit basically a DVR of sorts. Now, I'm not exactly sure how
- 44:04it works completely on the user side rather than on the users. Yes,
- 44:10it would be on the user side. But according to an article from the
- 44:15Verge dot com, they're saying that broadcast TV is in trouble, and we
- 44:19all know that it's been for a long time now, and a lot of
- 44:22people have pointed to the new broadcast standard ATSC three point zero and the way
- 44:25it can be saved and finally compete against streaming because you got YouTube TV,
- 44:31and you got TikTok, and you got all these other things. But now
- 44:36with this new technology with ROXY, they're gonna bring the ability to have a
- 44:40DVR. And not only that, ATS three at SC three point zero has
- 44:45a ton of other features to make it more interactive, Like you could be
- 44:50watching I mean, I know the show's not really around her anymore, but
- 44:52let's say, for instance, you were watching Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?
- 44:55All right, right, you could participate in the show with it,
- 45:00because it's gonna bring up an interactive panel that you could choose the option that
- 45:05you want, and then it would correlate that with everybody else that's watching and
- 45:10show you the results. It makes it more fun, Yeah, it makes
- 45:14it more fun. But I think it's all over the air broadcast. It's
- 45:17all done via radio waves. It's not done through the internet, it's not
- 45:22done through anything else. It's over the air, so ATSC. And so
- 45:27people are talking about this like they're saying that this roxy this is kind of
- 45:31like broadcast television's Hail Mary, if you will, because they're struggling, and
- 45:38I get that, but hopefully this takes off, because honestly, that's the
- 45:43one reason I don't watch just standard over the air. Standard over the air
- 45:46television, by the way, is much better quality than streaming. If you're
- 45:52trying to watch like YouTube TV and watch your local TV station, it sucks,
- 45:57like especially if you're watching sports. Right, if you watch over the
- 46:00air TV, you get such a better bit rate and quality then you do
- 46:07via streaming because it's so compressed. So if they can make this happen and
- 46:12make it successful, this could bring back broadcast television. I kind of wonder
- 46:16how many people would continue with a say a subscription to their local you know,
- 46:23cable TV provider or dish provider and get something with ATSC three. I
- 46:29mean at this point, they would, would they they would most of it,
- 46:34think about it, most of us are getting our even even like a
- 46:37Hallmark, you have their own channel. So if you want, you just
- 46:40pay the whatever dollars it is per month, and that's all you're gonna get
- 46:44is Hallmark. Same with Discovery and even City. So you get Max,
- 46:47right, Max, you're gonna get all the channels that are on TLC and
- 46:51i D channel. So with Paramount Plus, they finally and Paramount Plus a
- 46:54Peacock. Peacock is the NBC. Paramount Plus is let's say CBS, CBS.
- 46:59Yeah, they had been fooled around a little bit. You know,
- 47:00they would tease people they would make the live NBC Local and CBS channels available
- 47:07and then they pull them off. Yeah. Well, now if I can't
- 47:09speak for Peacock because I refuse to pay for Peacock, I still have a
- 47:14grandfathered in free Peacock account, so I can watch some of that. What
- 47:19I noticed with Paramount Plus lately is that they're now streaming our local CBS station,
- 47:23which is good because the local over the air CBS television broadcast frequency to
- 47:30the signal horrible. I've had to switch away from over the air to the
- 47:36local CBS affiliate streaming a pair of paramount plus just so I could watch the
- 47:39local news and in whatever show it was. Have you tried rotating your antenna
- 47:45some polarizations? Some channels will actually I'm getting really super geeky here. They
- 47:51will polarize in a vertical polarization of their signal. Right in terms of hurts,
- 47:57some channels do horizontal Here in Denver, I can get Fox thirty one,
- 48:04CBS four, I can get NBC, but I cannot get ABC unless
- 48:09I turn my dish or my antenna a whole ninety degrees because ABC does horizontal
- 48:16polarization instead of vertical polarization. But I found that if I turn my dish
- 48:22at forty five degrees, I can pick up both. I can pick up
- 48:25all the channels because of the polarization of the radio waves. You should do
- 48:30a mini class. I'm serious. No, not a mini class, a
- 48:34masterclass, all right. If you have an amplified inntena. I've been preaching
- 48:38amplified antennis for the longest time yeah, I do too on my table,
- 48:42and I still do. I have one local Fox affiliate that it's tried rotating
- 48:46your antenna. I've tried, you know what. Honestly, it doesn't all
- 48:50matter anymore once the Fallout happens. Yeah, all right, talk talk about
- 48:53this series. Now. I'm a big fan of the show Lost, and
- 48:58I know that the guy can't remember. Michael Emerson, who was in Loss
- 49:01is in Fallout, the TV series, and people are talking about it saying
- 49:06he's awesome in this This show is based on a video game, right,
- 49:09it is the DV show. It's on Amazon Prime. Okay, It's based
- 49:14on the video game, the Fallout. It's there's this Fallout game has been
- 49:19out since like the nineties. I mean there's Fallout one, two, three,
- 49:22four, three four, Fallout New Vegas, Fallout seventy six. I
- 49:28mean there's there's been a ton of video games. This franchise has now gone
- 49:34to the big screen and well, actually I think it would be called a
- 49:37small screen really. Anyway, it's an Amazon Prime exclusive and it is a
- 49:44real life not real life. What am I talking about here? Real word?
- 49:47Nah, gosh, what's the word. I'm looking for? Live action,
- 49:51live action. There you go, Thank you. A live action adaptation
- 49:53of the video game, but it doesn't actually take place within a video game.
- 50:00It's not like repeating what you've seen in the video game. It just
- 50:04takes place in the entire universe of Fallout in that storyline like Last of Us,
- 50:08Yeah, exactly the storyline. Now if you're not familiar Fallout. Basically,
- 50:13what it is is it takes place in the year what starts off in
- 50:15the year twenty seventy seven when the nuclear holocaust happens and it wipes out basically
- 50:22all of Earth, and there are people who live in these vaults and they're
- 50:28basically the rich people. They live in these underground vaults and they actually live
- 50:32there for a couple hundred years after the bombs drop. But the thing is
- 50:38is they finally come out of these vaults and they discovered that the Earth has
- 50:42actually survived. But it's kind of become a wasteland and it's basically the wild
- 50:46wild West. There's no laws. There's just murder and blood and everything everywhere.
- 50:52There's ghoules, there's real radiated animals. But they bring this to the
- 50:59small screen and the show is amazing. Really, here's where I made my
- 51:05personal mistake because I talked to my son, who is seven years old,
- 51:09and I told him about the video game Fallout and I'm like, it was
- 51:13one of my favorite video games growing up. And I'm like, hey,
- 51:16do you want to watch the show with me? And he's like, yeah,
- 51:19let's watch it. So I brought him down and watched the first episode.
- 51:22Yeah, we got through about twenty five minutes of it, and I
- 51:25said, yeah, that was a mistake because the first twenty five minutes is
- 51:29just basically blood and gore. And Eric was like, I don't think I
- 51:32should be watching this and I'm like, yeah, you shouldn't. And yeah,
- 51:37he's been having nightmares for the past like three days because of that.
- 51:40Oh poor kid, But poor kid. Yes, but the show is amazing.
- 51:46I mean, if you've ever played the game Fallout, this show is
- 51:51amazing. It's on Amazon Prime, it's just called Fallout. Watch the show.
- 51:55And not only that, but because of the show, the games,
- 52:00all the games will fall Out have risen in the ranks of all the video
- 52:02games right now, Like on Steam there the Fallout seventy six went from like
- 52:08one hundred and fiftieth place to fourth place. Wow. Amazing because people are
- 52:13wanting to play it again. Brand new camera available on the market. I'm
- 52:15going to tell you about this coming up next on tech talk Radio. I'm
- 52:19Andy Taylor, I am slick, and I'm justin. Let me send us
- 52:22a message on Facebook at tech talk Radio. Oh no way is it tech
- 52:25talkers? No tech? Yeah, that's it. Yeah, that's it,
- 52:30and now back to tech talk radio. Hey lay the cable guy and you're
- 52:34listening to tech cock Radio. I got to tell you guys about the diss
- 52:39of the week to me by our very own Sean. I posted on social
- 52:44media the other day. I found out that it was this week back in
- 52:47nineteen eighty four, forty years ago, this week that I started my job
- 52:52at Disneyland. Oh yeah, I was a rite operator of the submarine at
- 52:57Disneyland. I put my id up there. It looks like Blueto from Popeye.
- 53:00I didn't see this. Where did you post it? I posted it
- 53:02up on Instagram and on Snapchat And that's why he saw that. Sean is
- 53:07on snap and he dissed me pretty good because he noted because I wrote,
- 53:13you know, this week forty years ago, I was, uh, you
- 53:15know, and his his comeback to me. Was I wasn't even born yet.
- 53:22I was hoping he would have been here. Because there's a brand new
- 53:24camera on the market. I want to tell you about run a company called
- 53:27Insta three sixty. Have you guys seen this? Yes, I saw an
- 53:30ad for that today. It looks amazing. So this new one is called
- 53:32the X four. It's eight K three hundred and sixty degree camera. But
- 53:37here's what's amazing about it. And the first time I saw this being used,
- 53:39I was like, what the heck is this because it had it comes
- 53:43with a stick that you can, you know, hold the camera up in
- 53:46the air with and you can be and then the stick disappears. It's like,
- 53:51well they do the other ones. There's other ones that maybe do this,
- 53:54but I know Instat three sixty is one of the ones that I've seen
- 53:58that just blew me away because guy riding his bike and you're like, how
- 54:01is the camera tracking him? It's because it's above him. No, it's
- 54:06yeah, it's above him. But this new one doing it at gosh,
- 54:09it's pretty amazing doing it with ak, you know, three hundred and sixty
- 54:14degrees. It also has a feature using a time to capture. You can
- 54:21use gesture controls. So say your cameras across from you and you want to
- 54:23have to take a photo, you can use a hand control a gesture to
- 54:28make it take a picture. Not a lot of people have AK televisions or
- 54:31actually probably not gonna ever get one of or maybe not ever. But if
- 54:36you go, if you're in AK, you can do thirty frames a second.
- 54:39However, if you go down to four K, which most people have
- 54:44nowadays, you can record up to one hundred frames a second. That's gonna
- 54:49give super clear video and really super slow motion as well. Yeah, exactly,
- 54:54so some of the thing about again, this available. It's about five
- 54:59hundred bucks. You can find it on the inch of three sixty website.
- 55:01Take a look at the video demos they have. They're pretty darn amazing.
- 55:06And Andy's gonna give me one of these and I'm gonna review. It's like
- 55:10that was the thing, wondering if you could mount it on the Tesla.
- 55:14You know, yeah, oh, I bet you. You know what,
- 55:15Andy, give me one, I'll do it. I'll put it on the
- 55:17testa bountin on the Tesla. All right, that's it for this week's Tech
