Transcript
- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Hello, Christians.
- 0:02SPEAKER_00: This is Dallas Beecham.
- 0:04SPEAKER_00: Stand by for good news.
- 0:07SPEAKER_00: In Daniel 11, we find a king who seems very powerful, confident, unstoppable.
- 0:14SPEAKER_00: He moves through nations.
- 0:16SPEAKER_00: He plants himself in a place of significance.
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: He acts with rage.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: Then something happens.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: News from the East and the North troubles him.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: Imagine that.
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: A ruler who shook whole nations is suddenly shaken himself.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: A man who terrified the world is troubled by tidings he cannot control.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: That phrase connects with the end time picture we've been studying.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: Revelation 16 speaks of the Euphrates River drying up.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: It prepares the way for kings from the east.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: The same chapter says demonic spirits go out.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: They gather the kings of the earth to battle.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: Daniel gives us a troubled ruler.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: Revelation gives us the global gathering.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: Zachariah gives us Jerusalem at the center of all of this chaos.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: Ezekiel gives us nations drawn forward by God's hand.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: Now, pause for a moment.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: Think about this.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: Daniel does not give us every detail.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: He gives us enough to make us listen.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: A king is troubled by news from two different directions, east and north.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: He responds with anger.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: He goes out to destroy.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: He moves toward the glorious holy mountain.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: And then just when earthly power seems to reach its highest point, the sentence comes.
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: He shall come to his end, and none shall help him.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: That's a sobering sentence.
- 1:58SPEAKER_00: None shall help him.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: Think of all the things people trust in armies, money, diplomacy, titles, crowds, technology, intelligence reports, fortified borders, powerful friends.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: But when God brings a proud ruler to his appointed end, none of those things can save him.
- 2:23SPEAKER_00: The ships cannot help him.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: The generals cannot help him.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: The treaties cannot help him.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: When God says the end has come, the end comes.
- 2:37SPEAKER_00: But here is where the story turns.
- 2:39SPEAKER_00: Daniel says this king will come to his end, and none will help him.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: Not one ally, not one army, not one treaty, not one throne on earth will be able to rescue him when God says enough.
- 3:00SPEAKER_00: That is the end of every human power that lifts itself against God.
- 3:05SPEAKER_00: We live in a world impressed by power.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: We measure armies, count weapons, study alliances, and watch leaders make threats, but Daniel reminds us that the most powerful man on earth is still just a man.
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: He may make the world tremble, but he cannot make God tremble.
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: He may move armies, but he cannot move the throne of heaven.
- 3:31SPEAKER_00: That is why Daniel matters so much to Christians today.
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: Daniel lived under the world empires, Babylon, Medo, Persia, Greece.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: He knew what it meant for powerful kingdoms to seem permanent.
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: He knew what it meant for God's people to feel small, but Daniel also knew something else.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: He knew that the Most High God rules in the kingdom of men.
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: He knew that kings rise by permission.
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: He knew that kings fall by appointment.
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: He knew that heaven is not nervous.
- 4:08SPEAKER_00: That is a word for us.
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: We may not understand every movement on the map.
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: We may not know the meaning of every report from the east or every rumor from the north.
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: We may not know how close we are to a final page, but we do know God's character.
- 4:29SPEAKER_00: He does not lie.
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: He does not forget.
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: He does not lose track of his people.
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: He does not surrender his throne to the loudest voice on earth.
- 4:40SPEAKER_00: In Acts 20, Paul knew trouble was waiting for him.
- 4:44SPEAKER_00: He knew bonds and afflictions were ahead for him.
- 4:48SPEAKER_00: But he said, None of these things move me.
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: Daniel shows us a king who is moved by troubling news, but Paul shows us a Christian who is not moved by trouble.
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: Because Paul's life was not anchored in comfort.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: It was anchored in Christ.
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: The world may shake, the headlines may be troubling, the nations may rage, but the believer can stand and say, none of these things move me.
- 5:21SPEAKER_00: And that is the good news.
- 5:24SPEAKER_00: The believer need not fear the final rise of evil because Scripture has already shown us its final fall.
- 5:33SPEAKER_00: Daniel's troubled king comes to his end.
- 5:36SPEAKER_00: Revelation's beast is defeated.
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: The gathered armies are overthrown.
- 5:43SPEAKER_00: Jesus, God's Christ, stands victorious.
- 5:47SPEAKER_00: So Christian, do not let the trouble of the world become the trouble of your soul.
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: Let Daniel and Revelation remind you.
- 5:56SPEAKER_00: Let the promises of God remind you.
- 5:59SPEAKER_00: Let the proud rise.
- 6:02SPEAKER_00: Armies may gather, rulers may rage, but every kingdom that stands against God has an expiration date.
- 6:11SPEAKER_00: Luke 1 says of Jesus, of his kingdom there shall be no end.
- 6:17SPEAKER_00: Think on this whose kingdom do you want to be a part of?
- 6:23SPEAKER_00: I hope today's message has touched your heart and causes you to have a good day.
