- Sean Graver: So a listener shared that someone in their break room ate a lunch that wasn't theirs this week. and the person's calling it an accident, genuinely, sincerely an accident. Except it happened to be a great looking sandwich, and it happened to be right after they mentioned being hungry, and now half the office is doing the math on whether accidental only became the story once they got caught. Well, my name is Sean, and welcome back to Prayer Before Work. Now, this is a small thing, obviously. Nobody's filing a police report over a sandwich. I'm not sure how you accidentally eat a lunch that you know you didn't bring, but Jesus makes a point in Luke 16:10 that connects small moments like this to something bigger. It says, One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much. In much. Now, Jesus isn't talking about lunches either, right? He's making a point about character, that how someone handles the tiny low-stakes moments actually reveals something true about how they'll handle the bigger ones. Now that's worth applying to yourself before you apply it to your break room, right? It's easy to laugh off the small dishonesty, maybe taking credit for something minor or fudging a small detail. helping yourself to something that isn't yours because the stakes feel too low to matter. But Jesus is saying those small moments are actually training ground. They build the instincts that show up later when the stakes are higher. So today, in whatever small low stakes moment tempts you toward a shortcut or a little dishonesty, treat it like it actually matters. Because according to Jesus, It does. So let's pray. God thank you for the moments of low stakes, office humor, e even ones as silly as a stolen lunch, but help us take our own character seriously in the small things, not just the big ones. Show us where we've been letting small dishonesty slide because it seemed too minor to matter. But build us into the kind of Faithfulness that holds up in the little things, so it's already there when something bigger is on the line. And we pray in Jesus' name, amen. Go make today count.
