- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:04Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus, powered by Seahawks dot Com.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Now here's your host. That's a chopie.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Welcome into another edition of Hawk Talk. Yes, we're here
- 0:14Speaker 1: for the Super Bowl Super Bowl sixty. I am live
- 0:17Speaker 1: from the Seahawks Media Availability Center down there in San Jose.
- 0:20Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus is joining us from Radio Row over there
- 0:23Speaker 1: in San Francisco.
- 0:24Speaker 2: Bump, I can't believe we're finally here.
- 0:26Speaker 1: We've talked about this moment for a long time and
- 0:28Speaker 1: we were finally here speaking to resistance to the Seahawks
- 0:30Speaker 1: in the Super Bowl.
- 0:32Speaker 3: Hey, you've been talking about this for like nine years.
- 0:34Speaker 4: Dog, Finally who we are here every year, NASA's like,
- 0:38Speaker 4: this is the year we're going to the Super Bowl.
- 0:40Speaker 4: So now, so that makes it that much sweeter that
- 0:42Speaker 4: we had to wait this long. I don't mind waiting,
- 0:45Speaker 4: but we finally here.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Absolutely, Bum.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Tell me about your week a little bit, because to
- 0:49Speaker 1: peel the curtain back a little bit, a little different experience.
- 0:51Speaker 1: I'm staying at the Team hotel. Bump is going to
- 0:53Speaker 1: join us at a team hotel tomorrow. But right now,
- 0:55Speaker 1: you're staying in San Francisco. Tell me the vibes is
- 0:58Speaker 1: on radio row.
- 0:59Speaker 3: It's crazy.
- 1:00Speaker 4: First one obviously, first time the Hawks have been to
- 1:02Speaker 4: a super Bowl since I've been working for him.
- 1:04Speaker 3: Anybody that you can think of that you like in
- 1:06Speaker 3: the NFL.
- 1:07Speaker 4: I have seen from Rock Party, Trevor Lawrence, Fred Warner,
- 1:11Speaker 4: even the throwbacks man Sean Alexander. I even saw a
- 1:15Speaker 4: Big Hank talk to Big Hank over there. Okay, yea,
- 1:17Speaker 4: even be guys who already even in the league right now.
- 1:19Speaker 4: But it's crazy. Everyone is just trying to get their
- 1:21Speaker 4: stories together. We're scratching each other's back. You do interview
- 1:24Speaker 4: for me, I do interview for you. It's been fun, nough,
- 1:26Speaker 4: good experience.
- 1:27Speaker 1: No, that's great, and it's been nuts over here. Being
- 1:29Speaker 1: a part of Opening Night was an experience I'll never forget.
- 1:32Speaker 1: For one, we're helping get guys all over the place.
- 1:35Speaker 1: There's a million podiums, there's people in dressed up in
- 1:38Speaker 1: weird suits, asking random, weird questions. Everyone in their mom
- 1:42Speaker 1: gets credentialed to that event. And then afterwards we've been
- 1:45Speaker 1: having the media availabilities here, guys doing a million things.
- 1:47Speaker 1: It's really hard on the players throughout the week they
- 1:49Speaker 1: have to see at a podium for one hour.
- 1:51Speaker 2: They do that three straight days.
- 1:53Speaker 1: The bigger name guys than everyone else is kind of
- 1:55Speaker 1: at different tables and anyone can come up and ask
- 1:57Speaker 1: you questions.
- 1:57Speaker 2: So our guys have handled a lot of that.
- 2:00Speaker 1: If you're around them, they're just Coach McDonald talks all
- 2:02Speaker 1: being loose and focus right all the time. If you're familiar,
- 2:05Speaker 1: if you've seen them shadow boxing, that's been all. They've
- 2:08Speaker 1: been doing that all season, and they're doing that at podiums.
- 2:10Speaker 1: They're doing that everywhere, so it's been pretty cool. They
- 2:12Speaker 1: kind of feel the vibes of the team because this
- 2:14Speaker 1: is who they've been. They're talking their stuff. They're very confident.
- 2:16Speaker 2: Bunch.
- 2:17Speaker 1: I'm excited for Wes going down. But let's get into
- 2:19Speaker 1: these new England Patriots.
- 2:21Speaker 2: What's on tap? What's on tap?
- 2:24Speaker 1: Patriots fourteen and three in the regular season, first place
- 2:27Speaker 1: in AFC East. Losses to the Raiders, Steelers, in Bills
- 2:31Speaker 1: wins over the Dolphins, Panthers, Bill, Saints, Titans, Browns, Falcons, Buccaneers, Jets, Bengals, Giants, Ravens, Jets, Dolphins,
- 2:39Speaker 1: the playoffs to beat the Chargers, the Texans and the
- 2:41Speaker 1: Broncos to get here, Bump. And when you look at
- 2:43Speaker 1: this team, they're gonna get a lot of or at
- 2:46Speaker 1: least a lot of the noises. They didn't play anybody, obviously,
- 2:49Speaker 1: it's the NFL. They play who's on their schedule. They're
- 2:51Speaker 1: a good football team, but it is true that a
- 2:54Speaker 1: lot of teams that they've played have moved on from
- 2:56Speaker 1: their head coaches. They got to play the NFC South.
- 2:58Speaker 1: He was in a great division. On the playoff run,
- 3:01Speaker 1: they had not to go through all the quarterbacks. Bo
- 3:03Speaker 1: Knicks gets hurt, you know.
- 3:04Speaker 3: T J.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Straud was playing that great and he had some injuries.
- 3:07Speaker 1: And then you so say what you want. They're a good
- 3:09Speaker 1: football team. They're in Super Bowl for reason. Mike Vrabel
- 3:11Speaker 1: is an amazing head coach. But they're here, Bump. What
- 3:14Speaker 1: did you see out of them in the a AFC
- 3:16Speaker 1: Championship game?
- 3:17Speaker 3: Oh? Man, well, they took on the Broncos. It's crazy.
- 3:20Speaker 4: I was talking to Luke Wilson yesterday and he was like, man,
- 3:22Speaker 4: I almost wish it was the Broncos. We can go
- 3:24Speaker 4: back and relive that and wilcom but you know, it's
- 3:27Speaker 4: all good. You got the page, you can relivet something else.
- 3:29Speaker 4: The main storyline is going to this week was all
- 3:31Speaker 4: about the Broncos QB situation. Right bo Nix was out,
- 3:34Speaker 4: so he had to go up against Didham. He hadn't
- 3:36Speaker 4: thrown a pass in the NFL since twenty twenty three,
- 3:41Speaker 4: so he was gonna be rusty. We felt he was
- 3:42Speaker 4: gonna be rusty. He had some success early, connected with
- 3:45Speaker 4: Marvin Mills for a fifty two yard pass and found
- 3:47Speaker 4: Courtland Sudden for a six yard touchdown two places later.
- 3:50Speaker 4: The Broncos took an early seven lead. That was their
- 3:53Speaker 4: final score of the game. It was a rap after that.
- 3:56Speaker 2: Yeah, goodness, gracious. I mean it's hard. You know, I
- 3:59Speaker 2: have your quarter.
- 4:00Speaker 1: It's hard to get through that. It was knowing and
- 4:02Speaker 1: the mess. Drake May ten to twenty one eighty six yards.
- 4:05Speaker 1: You mentioned that rushing touchdown. When I look at this team,
- 4:08Speaker 1: bumble rocks to talk about the head to head, I
- 4:10Speaker 1: think I'm impressed with Drake May. I'm impressed with the
- 4:13Speaker 1: running back that they have going on. And they have some
- 4:14Speaker 1: issues with Stevenson early on fumbling the football. Seems like
- 4:17Speaker 1: he's really corrected that and they've been getting after it
- 4:19Speaker 1: in the run game the last.
- 4:20Speaker 2: Couple of games.
- 4:21Speaker 1: Looking at the head to head regular season Seahawks are
- 4:23Speaker 1: eighth in total offense, tenth in rush offense, eighth against
- 4:26Speaker 1: on passed, and three in scoring. And then you look
- 4:29Speaker 1: at the Patriots they are third in total offense, sixth
- 4:32Speaker 1: and rushing offense, fourth pass offense, and second points per game.
- 4:36Speaker 2: So they put up numbers.
- 4:37Speaker 1: Again, they played who's on their schedule, but offensively they
- 4:39Speaker 1: stack up pretty high.
- 4:41Speaker 3: Yeah, numbers are good, man, Like you said, you play
- 4:44Speaker 3: who you have to play.
- 4:45Speaker 4: Defensively, the Hawks and number six overall, the number three
- 4:49Speaker 4: against the rush. They are number ten against the pass,
- 4:51Speaker 4: and their first one comes to points allowed. On the
- 4:53Speaker 4: other side, the Broncos are eighth overall, six against the run,
- 4:56Speaker 4: ninth against the pass, and fourth overall. Well fourth when
- 4:59Speaker 4: it comes to points per game, a time of possession
- 5:01Speaker 4: is about the same. The Hawks control the ball ball
- 5:03Speaker 4: of half an hour and the Broncos thirty one minutes.
- 5:06Speaker 3: You're talking sacks.
- 5:08Speaker 4: We got forty seven to their thirty five and intercessions
- 5:10Speaker 4: eighteen for the Hawks ten four of the Patriots.
- 5:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Obviously, good teams both sides of the ball. You have
- 5:16Speaker 1: top offense, top defense. We're going up against each other.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Show should be fun matchup. But as you know, Bump,
- 5:21Speaker 1: these teams do have quite the history.
- 5:24Speaker 3: No your history.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Seahawks leed all time series between both programs eleven to nine,
- 5:30Speaker 1: eleven and eight in the regular season and zero to
- 5:32Speaker 1: one in the postseason. We don't need to talk about
- 5:34Speaker 1: what that one loss was against some retribution this week
- 5:36Speaker 1: that's going to happen. The Seahawks have won the last
- 5:39Speaker 1: three meetings, including the last four.
- 5:41Speaker 2: Thing Bump, those crazy.
- 5:42Speaker 1: The last four games will come down to the final
- 5:44Speaker 1: play wolast matchup. This last time was last year Seahawks
- 5:48Speaker 1: Mike McDonald's first road game. They go in and beat
- 5:50Speaker 1: the Patriots twenty three to twenty in overtime in Foxborough.
- 5:53Speaker 1: Jason Myers kick the game tying in game winning field goals.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Gino Smith had a great day, three or four over
- 5:58Speaker 1: three hundred yards in a touchdown came Metcalf had ten
- 6:00Speaker 1: receptions one hundred twenty nine yards and a touchdown and
- 6:03Speaker 1: that was the first, if you remember, the first real
- 6:05Speaker 1: breakout game for JSN. He had one hundred yards. That
- 6:07Speaker 1: was the first time he had clips one hundred yards
- 6:09Speaker 1: in his career. Obviously he's had a million since then.
- 6:12Speaker 1: And then for them, you know, Brissette was the quarterback
- 6:15Speaker 1: a lot different teams on both sides, obviously ra Abel
- 6:17Speaker 1: to head coach and all that. But one guy that
- 6:19Speaker 1: is another constant that game was Hunter Henry. He had
- 6:21Speaker 1: eight receptions for one hundred nine yards. Hunters got a
- 6:24Speaker 1: little bit more, you know, got some less tread on
- 6:27Speaker 1: the tires.
- 6:28Speaker 2: I'll say that he's been around for a little bit
- 6:29Speaker 2: but still still a good player.
- 6:30Speaker 1: So we'll see what happens there, hopefully see howk can
- 6:32Speaker 1: repeat that history. But we will take a quick look
- 6:35Speaker 1: through the NFC West what's the word.
- 6:42Speaker 2: And the Seahawks or the NFC West champs again, what's
- 6:46Speaker 2: the word in the West? On Hawk talk?
- 6:50Speaker 4: You know, when like the police have a situation going down,
- 6:54Speaker 4: like nothing to see here, keep moving, nothing to see here.
- 6:56Speaker 4: That's that's what the West is like. There's nothing to
- 6:59Speaker 4: see because the West belongs to the Hawks. We already
- 7:02Speaker 4: knew that. The only news is that the Cardinals are
- 7:04Speaker 4: said hire Rams office a corner to Mike Lafloor as
- 7:07Speaker 4: their head coach. He's replacing Johnan Gannon, who's lego at
- 7:11Speaker 4: the end of the season, and the forty nine ers
- 7:12Speaker 4: are also hiring Raheem Morris as a defensive coordin and
- 7:15Speaker 4: to replace Sala who is now the head coach with
- 7:17Speaker 4: the Titans. You know, we still got news to make,
- 7:19Speaker 4: you know there, right, We just got film to put
- 7:22Speaker 4: out there.
- 7:23Speaker 3: Everybody else at home, but making moves in the division.
- 7:26Speaker 1: Yeah, it'll be interesting to see Lafloora. I think he's
- 7:27Speaker 1: a good coach. He's got a lot to step into.
- 7:30Speaker 1: That's not a great situation right now in Arizona, but
- 7:32Speaker 1: we will see. But to your point, Bump, those teams
- 7:35Speaker 1: aren't playing. The Seattle Seahawks are.
- 7:36Speaker 2: In the Super Bowl.
- 7:37Speaker 1: Let's get back into those Patriots. Man up, hey, who
- 7:40Speaker 1: you got, who you got?
- 7:42Speaker 2: You know what time it is? Man up? Man up, brother,
- 7:44Speaker 2: Man up, man up.
- 7:45Speaker 1: On Hawk Talk, wegor rever you every week we're talking
- 7:49Speaker 1: about the quarterbacks. You gotta look at Drake May taking
- 7:51Speaker 1: on this Seahawks defense, and Drake May, honestly is probably
- 7:54Speaker 1: the biggest reason for this Patriots turnaround outside of head
- 7:57Speaker 1: coach Mike Vrabel.
- 7:58Speaker 2: He was a third.
- 7:59Speaker 1: Overall pick twenty twenty four draft from North Carolina two
- 8:02Speaker 1: year starter there after throwing for four thousand plus yards,
- 8:05Speaker 1: thirty eight touchdowns seven interceptions in twenty twenty two. During
- 8:08Speaker 1: his rookie season, he put up decent numbers, bump considering
- 8:11Speaker 1: the team that they had. They only won four games
- 8:13Speaker 1: four and thirteen. He was twenty two to twenty five
- 8:16Speaker 1: of three eighty three hundred and thirty eight two hundred
- 8:19Speaker 1: twenty seventy six yards, fifteen touchdowns, and ten interceptions. If
- 8:22Speaker 1: I could speak, he was sacked thirty four times. But
- 8:25Speaker 1: he did get to the Pro Bowls as a rookie.
- 8:28Speaker 1: Now you look, he's taken a huge step in twenty
- 8:30Speaker 1: twenty five and some of these numbers are pretty crazy.
- 8:32Speaker 1: He finished the season with four thousand, three hundred ninety
- 8:35Speaker 1: four passing yards thirty one touchdowns, the most by Patriot
- 8:38Speaker 1: quarterback since Tom Brady. So any time you're on a
- 8:40Speaker 1: list with Tom, that's really good. He rushed for four
- 8:43Speaker 1: hundred and fifty yards, so he's an athlete. He can
- 8:44Speaker 1: move his legs a little bit, four touchdowns as well.
- 8:47Speaker 1: He led the NFL and completion rate seventy two percent
- 8:50Speaker 1: of his passes, which is crazy yards per pass eight
- 8:52Speaker 1: point nine passer rating one thirteen point five QBR. He
- 8:56Speaker 1: put up some ridiculous stats. You know, every time I
- 8:59Speaker 1: look at this it stands out. He is awarded second
- 9:02Speaker 1: team All Pro. So he's the key, honestly for the
- 9:05Speaker 1: Seahawks defense is making life hard on him. The one
- 9:08Speaker 1: thing they'll bump that I want to point out about
- 9:09Speaker 1: Drake May is how much he has been sacked. He's
- 9:11Speaker 1: been sacked fifteen times this playoff run five in every game.
- 9:15Speaker 1: So that is an opportunity for the Seahawks defense to
- 9:17Speaker 1: get after him that way and might be able to
- 9:19Speaker 1: cause a couple turnovers.
- 9:21Speaker 3: Yeah, Drake May, he's the reason. He's the reason these
- 9:23Speaker 3: guys are here.
- 9:24Speaker 4: Got some weapons around, and we'll talk about but twenty
- 9:28Speaker 4: three years of age, second youngest quarterback to start in
- 9:30Speaker 4: the Super Bowl behind the great Dann Marino. That ain't
- 9:34Speaker 4: won one. Drake will win one either. Let's talk about
- 9:37Speaker 4: our quarterback. I'm donald against the Pages defense. He's one
- 9:41Speaker 4: of the best quarterbacks in the game, just straight up fifth.
- 9:43Speaker 4: When it comes to pass the yards second whin, it
- 9:45Speaker 4: comes to the ars per past second win, it comes
- 9:47Speaker 4: to yards per completion. This year he completed sixty seven
- 9:50Speaker 4: percent of his passes four thousand and forty eight yards,
- 9:53Speaker 4: twenty five touchdowns, fourteen exceptions, tied for the most winning
- 9:56Speaker 4: consecutive seasons with who.
- 9:58Speaker 3: He's on the list with Tom Brady to get him
- 10:00Speaker 3: some love.
- 10:01Speaker 4: The Pro Bowl selection has nine game win and drives
- 10:03Speaker 4: in the fourth quarter since twenty twenty four.
- 10:05Speaker 3: That's the most in the NFL.
- 10:07Speaker 4: Play good in the individual game was twenty five to
- 10:09Speaker 4: thirty six three forty six, three touchdowns, zero interceptions. In
- 10:12Speaker 4: the conference championship set that was his conference championship game
- 10:16Speaker 4: that divisional he did the same. Man, he's looking good.
- 10:19Speaker 4: If he turned the ball over, that's something that we
- 10:21Speaker 4: wanted to see. He was decent against the pressure, and
- 10:24Speaker 4: he's going up against a good defensive rank. The Pages
- 10:27Speaker 4: defense rank eighth overall, like we've mentioned, fourth and scoring.
- 10:30Speaker 4: The Patriots defense, they've been blitzing like crazy all right
- 10:33Speaker 4: forty percent of the time since Week fourteen, they've been blitzing,
- 10:37Speaker 4: and I think that's to compensate for something or put
- 10:40Speaker 4: on the back end. But for some reason they felt
- 10:42Speaker 4: like they have to get after the quarterback in that way.
- 10:44Speaker 4: So we'll see they continue that that trend. If they do,
- 10:47Speaker 4: they should be guys open, just hold your water, salmon
- 10:50Speaker 4: and let.
- 10:50Speaker 3: The ball go.
- 10:51Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:52Speaker 1: No, I think I'm really looking forward to see what
- 10:54Speaker 1: Sam can do. We've talked about it all year. The
- 10:57Speaker 1: idea that he couldn't win a big game is laughable.
- 10:59Speaker 2: We've talked about that year. He's obviously done that back
- 11:01Speaker 2: to back to back games.
- 11:02Speaker 1: So it'll be really cool for him to get a
- 11:03Speaker 1: rubber stamp on his legacy because once you you can't
- 11:06Speaker 1: take that away. Once you win a Super Bowl. Once
- 11:08Speaker 1: you do that, you're etched in history forever. So we'll
- 11:11Speaker 1: see what Sam could do there. I'm hoping he plays
- 11:12Speaker 1: well and continue to silence a lot of the haters
- 11:15Speaker 1: that are out there. Next match up on to look
- 11:16Speaker 1: at him and look at the running backs Trayvon Henderson
- 11:19Speaker 1: and Ramandre Stevenson against the Seahawks front seven. They have
- 11:21Speaker 1: a nice little once two punch bump.
- 11:23Speaker 2: You know.
- 11:24Speaker 1: Stevenson is the guy in terms of what he's been
- 11:27Speaker 1: what we've seen from him as of late, especially throughout
- 11:28Speaker 1: the playoffs. He was not the team's leading rusher though
- 11:31Speaker 1: Henderson was at Ohio State. He second or second round pick.
- 11:35Speaker 1: He rushed for a ton of yards in college this
- 11:38Speaker 1: year though, he had nine hundred and eleven yards and
- 11:39Speaker 1: nine touchdowns, so he's on some explosive plays there. But
- 11:42Speaker 1: in the playoffs twenty four carries for fifty seven yards.
- 11:45Speaker 1: When you look at Stevenson, he only had six hundred
- 11:47Speaker 1: and three yards, had some injuries throughout the season, seven touchdowns,
- 11:50Speaker 1: but in the playoffs he's been the guy. Fifty one carries,
- 11:53Speaker 1: one hundred and ninety four yards, seven receptions for eighty
- 11:55Speaker 1: six yards. He runs the ball hard. They got two
- 11:57Speaker 1: backs that are more than capable. I know I mentioned
- 12:00Speaker 1: a little bit ago. I know the temperature what I've
- 12:02Speaker 1: heard in New England was not great on Stevenson early and.
- 12:05Speaker 2: Earlier this year.
- 12:06Speaker 1: He signed a contract coming in this season. I think
- 12:08Speaker 1: he fumbled three times in the first couple of games.
- 12:10Speaker 1: Since then, he's been kind of the bellk out getting
- 12:12Speaker 1: things done. So the Seahawks were great against the run.
- 12:14Speaker 1: They've been great across the run all year. It can't
- 12:16Speaker 1: be can't change this weekend because that will alleviate a
- 12:19Speaker 1: lot of pressure on Drake May if they're able to
- 12:21Speaker 1: run the football.
- 12:23Speaker 3: Yeah, it's crazy.
- 12:23Speaker 4: You want Drake made to have to throw the football,
- 12:26Speaker 4: and he's completely seventeen percent of his passes right and
- 12:28Speaker 4: threty one touchdowns.
- 12:29Speaker 3: But he ain't seen a defense like this.
- 12:31Speaker 4: So yeah, kN Walker against the Pages defense, man, I've
- 12:35Speaker 4: been excited. Kim Walker has a thousand yards for the
- 12:37Speaker 4: second time in his career. He forced mistackles like crazy,
- 12:42Speaker 4: thirty percent of his combined carriers and receptions this season,
- 12:45Speaker 4: the second in the NFL amongst firers at least one
- 12:47Speaker 4: hundred and fifty touches. He's a looser man. And what
- 12:50Speaker 4: is the perfect example of that. You know where I'm
- 12:52Speaker 4: going rams in the A gap with the Madgie Johnson.
- 12:58Speaker 4: He was filthy man this year. Two one carries, one
- 13:00Speaker 4: thy twenty seven yards, five touchdowns, thirty run receptions for
- 13:04Speaker 4: two eighty two divisional game he had one hundred and
- 13:06Speaker 4: sixteen three touchdowns, three receptions, and a championship game nineteen
- 13:10Speaker 4: for sixty two one touchdown.
- 13:11Speaker 3: But I have four receptions for forty nine yards.
- 13:14Speaker 4: I'm can I man, He's it and he's had to
- 13:16Speaker 4: step up right because Sharbon Day is out. Sharba Day
- 13:20Speaker 4: hill up. I know he's with the team. I wish
- 13:22Speaker 4: he was a part of this. What canw is going
- 13:23Speaker 4: to hold it down for him? Man, he's sprinkling some
- 13:25Speaker 4: George Hallawani who got some snaps in the last game
- 13:28Speaker 4: or two. I like what his backfield is doing. The
- 13:30Speaker 4: Pages in the regular season was six against the run
- 13:32Speaker 4: a line one on one per game.
- 13:35Speaker 3: They can stop the run. Man.
- 13:36Speaker 4: They got two bigs in the middle of that defensive
- 13:38Speaker 4: line who can make things trouble.
- 13:39Speaker 3: But I just like the field in the flow of
- 13:41Speaker 3: this run game right now.
- 13:42Speaker 2: Yeah, No, absolutely love that. I think Benwaukee you looking
- 13:45Speaker 2: at him.
- 13:46Speaker 1: I love how he's handled the media all throughout this
- 13:48Speaker 1: week and he's smooth and I'm excited for him because
- 13:50Speaker 1: I think he have a big day for the Seahawks.
- 13:53Speaker 1: The other match you want to look at looking at
- 13:54Speaker 1: the receivers, really the pass catchers Stefan Diggs, Hunter, Henry
- 13:58Speaker 1: but mccollins to get on this seat, Yoak's secondary. The
- 14:02Speaker 1: Seahawks just faced the best passing attack in the National
- 14:05Speaker 1: Football League outside of them, and that was the Rams,
- 14:07Speaker 1: and that was Pokinakula and now was Matthew Stafford. So
- 14:10Speaker 1: the Patriots receivers are not that they are still talented,
- 14:13Speaker 1: but it gives me confidence because the Seahawks were able
- 14:16Speaker 1: to take down the Rams twice. But we'll start with
- 14:18Speaker 1: the veteran Stefon Diggs. I mean, one of the best
- 14:20Speaker 1: for over a decade. He's going to be a Hall
- 14:21Speaker 1: of Famer. If you look the numbers, I think four
- 14:23Speaker 1: time Pro Bowl or first seam All Pro in twenty twenty.
- 14:26Speaker 1: Has eleven hundred eleven thousand, five hundred receiving yards, seventy
- 14:30Speaker 1: four touchdowns his first season in New England, spent the
- 14:33Speaker 1: first five in Minnesota, four in Buffalo, won in Hoaston.
- 14:35Speaker 1: Prior this year, he went over one thousand yards again,
- 14:38Speaker 1: eighty five receptions, one thousand yards, four touchdowns. This postseason
- 14:42Speaker 1: eleven receptions seventy three yards to one touchdown. He's played
- 14:45Speaker 1: in seventeen postseason games and almost has one thousand yards receiving.
- 14:49Speaker 1: He would be the eighteenth person or the nineteenth player
- 14:51Speaker 1: in NFL history to have one thousand yards in the postseason.
- 14:53Speaker 1: So he can get it done. Hunter Henry ten year vet,
- 14:56Speaker 1: He's enjoyed one of the best seasons of his career.
- 14:58Speaker 1: Sixty receptions, seven hundred and sixty eight yard, seven touchdowns,
- 15:01Speaker 1: career high in yards.
- 15:02Speaker 2: Then you got viewed.
- 15:03Speaker 1: He's got eight receptions one hundred and forty seven yards
- 15:06Speaker 1: and one touchdown in the playoffs. He made some big
- 15:08Speaker 1: catches there. And Matt Collins forty six receptions, five hundred
- 15:11Speaker 1: and fifty yards, two touchdowns. They got playmakers, but in
- 15:15Speaker 1: advantage Seahawks. My opinion, we've seen this all year between
- 15:19Speaker 1: Devin Witherspoon, Wreek Wool and Josh Joe, Kobe, Bryant Tyle,
- 15:22Speaker 1: you name all of them, Julian Love, I think the
- 15:24Speaker 1: Seahawks have been managed in that matchup.
- 15:26Speaker 3: Yeah, I like it.
- 15:27Speaker 4: Digg's not the guy that we knew from Buffalo and
- 15:30Speaker 4: the bike is still a good football player, but works
- 15:32Speaker 4: from the slot. Get some guys on outside and stretch
- 15:34Speaker 4: the field. Douglas is capable, Williams is capable. But I'm
- 15:37Speaker 4: with you one hundredercent. I like our matchup. Let's talk
- 15:40Speaker 4: about our receivers. Are we got JS and Cooper Cup
- 15:42Speaker 4: and Rashid Shaheed JSM best in the game. Let the
- 15:46Speaker 4: league seventeen and nine three yards first and yards per
- 15:49Speaker 4: touch fourteen point five, second in yards per game, fourth
- 15:52Speaker 4: in receptions with one hundred and nineteen, which is a
- 15:55Speaker 4: franchise record tied for six.
- 15:57Speaker 3: When it comes to touchdowns, he's got ten and.
- 15:58Speaker 4: Ninth yards per reception with fifteen a title the league
- 16:02Speaker 4: with twenty seven exposed to plays US twenty plays are
- 16:05Speaker 4: suing me. Twenty yards are more best receiver in SEAK
- 16:09Speaker 4: history when it talks about one season, and that's hard
- 16:11Speaker 4: to do with DK and Largen and.
- 16:15Speaker 3: Locket. I mean, the list goes on and on.
- 16:17Speaker 4: His thirteen ninety yard games are the most in a
- 16:21Speaker 4: single season in NFL history by a player twenty three
- 16:23Speaker 4: years or younger. In Pro Bowl selection First Team All
- 16:26Speaker 4: Pro this year, he got fifty out of fifty votes.
- 16:29Speaker 3: It was unanimous. We can go on and on. That's
- 16:32Speaker 3: the short list of his accompliments there on the year.
- 16:34Speaker 4: Like I said, seventeen hundred yards in the divisional game,
- 16:37Speaker 4: three receptions, nineteen yards in a touchdown. Only the second
- 16:40Speaker 4: time all year JSN was not the team's leading receiver.
- 16:42Speaker 3: I believe A. J. Barner was the other one.
- 16:44Speaker 4: At one time NC Championship game he had ten for
- 16:47Speaker 4: one fifty three and one touchdown on twelve targets. What
- 16:51Speaker 4: about Cooper cup Man, People were sleeping on this acquisition.
- 16:54Speaker 3: I really like this acquisition.
- 16:55Speaker 1: He's been solid all year and again he's going to
- 16:57Speaker 1: do things that aren't going to show up in the
- 16:59Speaker 1: stat in the score. He's one of the best blocking
- 17:01Speaker 1: receivers out there. Jake Bobo even said he went to
- 17:03Speaker 1: the Cooper Cup school of blocking. Kind of been that
- 17:06Speaker 1: way his whole career. Just a dog. Five receptions six
- 17:08Speaker 1: yards in the divisional game and then four receptions thirty
- 17:11Speaker 1: six yards in a touchdown the NFC Championship game, some
- 17:14Speaker 1: huge catches. He had the huge first down and he
- 17:16Speaker 1: had to go ahead touchdown at the end of that game.
- 17:18Speaker 1: And then obviously, you know Rashichi can do. He finally
- 17:20Speaker 1: got in the past game a fifty yard bomb on
- 17:22Speaker 1: that first drive, which I love because that puts it
- 17:24Speaker 1: on film and the secondary, you know, has to account
- 17:26Speaker 1: for that bump. But this is going to be a
- 17:29Speaker 1: dogfight because the Patriots do have a very legit secondary
- 17:32Speaker 1: and that starts with arguably the best player on their defense,
- 17:34Speaker 1: Christian Gonzalez.
- 17:36Speaker 4: Yeah, man made the Pro Bowl for the first time,
- 17:38Speaker 4: and through your career, he was second team All Pro.
- 17:40Speaker 4: In twenty twenty four he was at Oregon and he
- 17:44Speaker 4: was seventeenth overall pick in the twenty twenty three draft,
- 17:46Speaker 4: and according to the next year stats, Christian Zalaz's face
- 17:49Speaker 4: sixty two targets in soon covers this season, including the playoffs,
- 17:52Speaker 4: without allowing a touchdown, the most by any defensive back
- 17:55Speaker 4: in the league. Seahawks rookie Nick and Mawaire rings second
- 17:59Speaker 4: Si see one targets without a touchdown allowed. Does all
- 18:02Speaker 4: this allowed a touchdown and someone coverage against Houston in
- 18:05Speaker 4: Week six of the twenty four season and has faced
- 18:08Speaker 4: eighty one can secutive zone targets without allowing a score.
- 18:11Speaker 3: This year.
- 18:12Speaker 4: He has sixty nine tackles, ten passes defended. And then
- 18:15Speaker 4: you have the veteran Carlton Davis. He has sixty nine tackles,
- 18:19Speaker 4: ten passes defendant and three TFLs.
- 18:22Speaker 1: Yeah, it's going to be It's gonna be an entry matchup.
- 18:24Speaker 1: That's exactly where you know. I feel like the Patriots
- 18:26Speaker 1: probably feel really good about their secondary, but it's going
- 18:28Speaker 1: to be a challenge. It's kind of one of those
- 18:29Speaker 1: get your popcorn ready moments. I'm loving to see how
- 18:32Speaker 1: Gonzalez going to match up, whether it's JSN, whether it
- 18:35Speaker 1: is Cooper Cup, or whether it's Trashichi Heed and the last one,
- 18:37Speaker 1: I want to look at bumbles, look at these returners.
- 18:39Speaker 1: Get two the best returners in the game. You have
- 18:41Speaker 1: Marcus Jones and Rashichi Heed. Marcus Jlones is a good cornerback.
- 18:45Speaker 1: For one, He's had some good numbers there. He got
- 18:46Speaker 1: three interceptions on the season. But he's a great returner.
- 18:49Speaker 1: He's tied for the league lead with two punt return touchdowns,
- 18:51Speaker 1: having seventeen point three yards per punt as now all
- 18:54Speaker 1: time career leader in punt return average fourteen and point
- 18:58Speaker 1: three per And somehow he didn't make it.
- 19:01Speaker 2: All Pro for the Pro Bowl.
- 19:02Speaker 1: He got edged out by Chim Murray DK from the
- 19:04Speaker 1: Tennessee Titans. And then you got Rashichi Heat who also
- 19:07Speaker 1: was somehow snubbed from being an All Pro returner considering
- 19:11Speaker 1: he has three return touchdowns this season. But either way,
- 19:14Speaker 1: these two are the X factors. If you know they
- 19:16Speaker 1: can break a game open. I think if if you
- 19:18Speaker 1: were looking at my opinion, I think the Seahaws are
- 19:20Speaker 1: gonna win. I think the only way they wouldn't is
- 19:23Speaker 1: if they gave up a big play on special teams
- 19:25Speaker 1: and turn the ball over. So but when you look
- 19:28Speaker 1: at Jay Harbaugh, when you look at how he has
- 19:29Speaker 1: this special teams playing. The Seahawks have had the best
- 19:31Speaker 1: special teams union across the board all season long. So
- 19:34Speaker 1: I would be stunned if they allowed a big play
- 19:36Speaker 1: on special teams. But both these guys could be a
- 19:39Speaker 1: big X factor come the big one on Sunday. But
- 19:43Speaker 1: we've been here, We've been talking to you guys for
- 19:45Speaker 1: a long time since training camp. We're gonna tell you
- 19:48Speaker 1: how SA get this done. Path to victory.
- 19:51Speaker 4: After forty five waits for the staff, Michael Dixon puts
- 19:55Speaker 4: it down.
- 19:55Speaker 2: That kick is away. If that kick is good, the
- 19:59Speaker 2: sayowks bit's gun, It's a path to victory.
- 20:02Speaker 1: On Hawk Talk, the Seahawks celebrate their fiftieth season.
- 20:06Speaker 2: Out of the franchise.
- 20:08Speaker 1: So many great players, so many great individuals around this organization,
- 20:12Speaker 1: and for fifty years, the Seahawks have only been in
- 20:15Speaker 1: this now for the fourth time, Bump, So a lot
- 20:17Speaker 1: of special things that happened on Sunday, first time in
- 20:19Speaker 1: ten plus years. Last time they played the Patriots, they
- 20:22Speaker 1: weren't able to get it done. And for the Seahawks
- 20:24Speaker 1: to win this one, Bump, I think it really comes
- 20:26Speaker 1: down to taking care of the football. That is a
- 20:28Speaker 1: huge They've played clean, turnover free football throughout the playoffs.
- 20:32Speaker 1: They need to continue to do that. And Donald's been
- 20:35Speaker 1: amazing down the stretch. He has proven that he can
- 20:38Speaker 1: win a big game.
- 20:38Speaker 2: He can do all that.
- 20:39Speaker 1: If Sam Darnald continues to play the way that he
- 20:42Speaker 1: is playing, it's going to be really really hard for
- 20:44Speaker 1: the Patriots to contend in this one.
- 20:47Speaker 4: Yeah, and if ken Walker can get involved too, Man,
- 20:49Speaker 4: you need Sam to do the same with kin Walker
- 20:51Speaker 4: has got to help out. He's been playing a great,
- 20:53Speaker 4: great game with the last three or four games, Man,
- 20:55Speaker 4: you will really go five games.
- 20:57Speaker 3: Man, it feels like ken Walker has been doing this thing.
- 21:00Speaker 4: Defensively, you gotta get after the youngster Drake May. He's
- 21:03Speaker 4: been sacked fifteen times, like you mentioned this postseason.
- 21:05Speaker 3: That's five each game.
- 21:06Speaker 4: You gotta make his live hell, get after him, keep contained,
- 21:10Speaker 4: don't let him.
- 21:11Speaker 1: Run wild, absolutely, man, he's a legit player. And then
- 21:15Speaker 1: keep dominating special seams like we've been saying. Man, this
- 21:17Speaker 1: unit has been amazing all year long. They've made not
- 21:20Speaker 1: only have they been good defensively in that side of it,
- 21:22Speaker 1: they've made huge plays. Open games, wide open. Let's see
- 21:25Speaker 1: if they can get that going and continue that and man,
- 21:28Speaker 1: bring back the Lombardi trophy wear it belongs in small battle.
- 21:31Speaker 1: One more, This one is for all the marbles. Super
- 21:34Speaker 1: Bowl sixty coming your way on Sunday.
- 21:37Speaker 2: We'll have all the coverage on the radio.
- 21:39Speaker 1: Hopefully we're helling breaking a great game bump, a little
- 21:42Speaker 1: postgame party action, Yeah, a lot going down. Hopefully you're
- 21:45Speaker 1: talking about a parade and all that. The guys are focused.
- 21:47Speaker 1: It's been a really fun week down here at the
- 21:48Speaker 1: Super Bowl. I'm excited. He's excited. He's Michael Bambas, some
- 21:51Speaker 1: NASA troby seahawk getting ready to take on the Patriots in
- 21:53Speaker 1: Super Bowl sixty.
- 21:54Speaker 2: This has been hawk talk.
- 22:00Speaker 3: You all w
